The Leading Cause Of Disease
Disease. What comes to your mind when a person says the word, disease ? Some people may think of
a relative that has a disease, a specific type of disease, or how a person gets a disease. Many people
don t realize the amount of deaths come from disease. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
states the following; Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. People don t
realize that just one disease is the leading death cause. There are many different diseases as well.
Humans don t realize that the number of deaths from diseases can decrease just from some simple, but
yet difficult, lifestyle changes. The most important lifestyle choices a person can choose to prevent the

Cigarette smoke is especially dangerous to humans cause it cause many problems for the heart.
American Heart Association states the following in support that smoking causes many problems for
the body, Cigarette smoking increases the risk of coronary heart diseases by itself...Smoking increases
blood pressure, decreases exercise tolerance...Cigarette smoking is the most important risk factor for
young men and women. Cigarette smoking is an incredible risk for developing diseases. Not only does
smoking increase disease, it also prevents the tolerance for physical activity, which is another way to
get a disease. When a person chooses to skip smoking, then their chance decreases of getting a disease
and the want for exercise increases, which in the end also decreases disease. Though a person may
need the feel to take a moment to smoke, they should notice the risk factors and should stop so that
they can have a healthier heart and lower risk of

Traditional Families In The 1800s
Families in History
There are many ways that the idea of the traditional family has changed over the past several
centuries. For instance prior to the 19th century family was often considered anyone who lived within
a household whether related by blood or not. This included employees and extended family. The
biological family was less sacrosanct, and less sentimentalized, than it would become in the nineteenth
century. (Coontz 35) In society at the time it was socially unacceptable to be separate and not included
as part of a family household. Over time the term family came to encompass the immediate family, a
husband, wife and their children. During the late 1800 s through the mid 1900 s there were emerging
ideas of family that were not widely accepted as traditional or normal, these included single parent
homes with only a Mom or Dad, Stepfamilies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Childhood was not considered a special time for development but rather a hurdle on the way to
adulthood. The goal was to get children speaking, reading, reasoning, and contributing to their family
s economic well being as quickly as possible. (Mintz 50) Many kids as young as six were working
outside of the home at the time. A cultural revolution began in the eighteenth century when many
middle class parents began to relish in their children s innocence and saw this a time to nurture mold
their children. As this form of parenting became the norm many parents began to have less children by
using birth control, thus giving the fewer children they had more of their attention. As time progressed
kids spent more time going to school rather than to work. Within the last 3 centuries Societal views
about methods of Child rearing, the nature of children s play, the ideal duration of schooling, the
participation of young people in work, and the demarcation points between childhood, adolescence,
and adulthood have shifted significantly. (Mintz

The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization Essay
The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization
The Rise and fall of the Aztec Empire is possibly the most important area of study in the modern
world. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first
driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth
and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler
Itzcoatl, the empire expanded to include millions of people from a number of different tribes,
including the Cempoala, who would later aid the Spanish in defeating the Aztecs. Because of the
melting pot within the empire, the Aztecs had a very diverse culture. However, this immense Aztec
Empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fearful of the Spanish, and hateful of the wealth and power of the Aztecs, some of the native tribes,
particularly the Cempoala and others from the cities of Tlaxcala and Tezcoca, joined forces with
Cortes. After the Spaniards annihilated the Cholultecas, the terrified people of the Aztec empire did
their best to please them, as the Europeans made their way inland.
By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that
Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes
responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless,
Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to
please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s
weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king.
Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then
lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had
Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and
could not be resisted. However, this angered the Aztecs even more, both at the Spanish and
Montezuma. As advanced as the Aztecs were, they were no match for the Spanish forces. The Spanish

The Biological Causes For Serial Killers
Introduction: This investigation examines the biological causes for serial killers psychopathic
tendencies and examines those same biological factors in both men and women to find the correlation
between a higher rate of male serial killers and the biology behind their actions. It is imperitave to first
know what a serial killer is, and what makes them such a cold fish. There are sections of the brain that
do have control over a human being s personality, where that individual can either develop into an
average person or join the other one percent of psychopaths living in the world today (due to physical
damage or chemical imbalance in the brain). These specific sections of the brain are different in males
then in females, some components of the brain vary in size etc. between sexes. It is crucial to have all
these pieces, with this information its then possible to form a conlusion to the surfaced question. To
stretch ones knowledge and understanding of serial killers a necasssary source is the Encyclopedia of
Serial Killers, second edition by Micheal Newton , which gives detailed insight on the worlds most
infamous serial killers and their tactics, not including other informative articles sited later on in the
analysis. In addition to that source, another applicable book would be The Emotional Brain by Joseph
LeDoux, assisting in learning the physical structures of the brain that control ones emotions and
motivations, as well as the male brain versus the females.

They Call Him Mr. Gacy Essay
There are numerous portraits, perspectives, and analyses of the life and deeds of American serial killer
John Wayne Gacy, who is thought to have sexually assaulted and murdered 32 boys between 1976 and
his arrest in December 1978 (Cahill, 1978; Gacy, 1989). This profile of Gacy compiles a birth to death
chronology of events and activities that may lend insight to the personality of a habitual liar, model
citizen, and serial murderer.
Born to Marion Elaine Robinson Gacy and John Hanely Gacy on St. Patrick s Day in 1942, John
Wayne Gacy was the second of three children. The alcoholic Gacy, Sr. was both physically and
verbally abusive towards the entire family. His special interest in John, Jr. was the litany that he was

In September of 1964 he married his co worker Marilynn Myers whose father owned a franchise of
Kentucky Fried Chicken. Shortly after his wedding John?s father in law offered him a job. John and
his new wife then moved to Iowa. John was a tireless worker, but maintained an active community
involvement through the Jaycees.
During this period, John and his wife invited employees to their home for drinks and television.
Hidden in the game room were homosexual videos, alcohol, and marijuana. One particular visit to
their home, John approached employee Westphal to solicit a blowjob. Although Westphal declined the
offer, John would joke with him that if he ever caught Westphal with his wife, he would owe John that
blowjob. During a subsequent visit, Westphal became inebriated at John?s house and stayed the night
in the guest room. After Westphal began to doze off, Marilynn entered the room and joined Westphal
in bed. John then entered the room to remind Westphal of his obligation. Fearing the loss of his job,
Westphal fulfilled John?s desires. After this incident rumors of John?s sexual preferences began to
spread.
John?s interests in young boys increased and in the spring of 1968 he was indicted by a grand jury in
Black Hawk County for allegedly committing sodomy with a teenage boy named Mark Miller. Mark
told the courts that John had tricked him into being handcuffed and had then violently raped him.

Nitrous Oxide
After James began to consider the possible different explanations for the ambiguities that exist in
human consciousness, he began to experiment with drugs, specifically nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is
a chemical that is more commonly known at laughing gas that is used most commonly in dental
offices and it is a substance that alters the conscious state of a person. In an article published in 1996
in the Atlantic, Dmitri Tymoczko explores the often unknown influence of Nitrous Oxide on the
thought of James. Unbeknown to most people, James began to experiment with this drug while he was
trying to uncover the secrets of human consciousness. In an article published by James anonymously

psychokinesis, healing, and questions of survival after death ( About the Society ). Basically, their goal
was to study these ambiguous, out of the ordinary occurrence as to come up with a conclusion on their

he believed we (the ASPR) have restored continuity to history. We have shown some reasonable basis

Women s Career And The Nineteenth Century
Women s Career Rights in the Nineteenth Century
The Nineteenth century was an age of change for America. With various reforms taking place,
industrialization overrunning the North, expansion of our country westward, and warfare soon to erupt
in the Civil War; America was a fast changing country and economy. Feminism, racism,
commercialism, militarism were all terms that would define this day of age. With the North quickly
becoming of Modern Culture, and the South soon forming Folk Culture, many reformers began to take
their place for change. Slavery and abolitionism were by far the most known reform from this century,
however, this reform may not have been as popular as claimed. Words from a British visitor would

The traditional household women were starting to become more of factory women, these women
including young, single, white women. Women were the ultimate reason as to why the country ran so
smoothly in the nineteenth century. With their efforts inside the home, including child bearing and
normal housework, to their work in industrial and agriculture economies, women helped the economy
in extremely productive ways. Soon, the home would no longer be known as the economic center of
America, and women would begin to go into their own private sphere of their world.
In no country has such constant care been taken, as in America, to trace two clearly distinct lines of
action for the two sexes, and to make them keep pace one with the other, but in two pathways which
are always different. ... If, on the one hand, an American woman cannot escape from the quiet circle
Only about ten percent of women worked outside of the home in the pre civil era. This small number
of women was confined to a small number of jobs; Teaching, domestic service, and jobs in the textile
production industry. Work in teaching was easy for women since most of the jobs were located in rural
areas, and education was viewed as a woman s job. Because this was seen as strictly women s work,
nearly one quarter of all native born white women taught in a school at one point their adult lives. In

Nietzsche s View Of Dionysus
In a letter to a nun, Bernard of Clairvaux admonishes, Until now, when living according to your will
and not the will of God, by your law and not that of God, you were living while dead, living in the
world but dead to God; or, if I can speak more truly, living neither in the world or for God (qtd. in
Newman 177). The sentiments that living on one s terms and not God s is and was common within
Christianity. In fact, multiple documents written in the medieval era point to the tenet that people must
live submit their will to God to achieve salvation and to be accepted in the Christian community. Part
of submitting to his doctrine involves inhibiting visceral and brutish aspects of the self and
encouraging spiritual and benevolent (civilized) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dionysus, representing the oneness of existence, is experienced as an individuated image appearing to
dazed spectators a relationship that is the germ of Greek tragic theater as a mimesis of human life
(505). If this concept were to exist in Lybeaus Desconus, the townspeople would experience a sense of
awe for both women displayed during the exhibition. They might compare in positive terms the
difference between and preferences they might see. In addition, the hero who is on display (in this
case, Lybeaus Desconus) would provide a sense of unity between the Dionysian and the Apollonian.
Instead of the Apollonian figure emerging from the primordial oneness of existence where opposites
would coexist, Lybeaus Desconus systematically slaughters the creatures that represent wildness and
restricts notions of beauty. The foreground of Nietzsche s criticisms of Christianity comprises
repudiating not only ecstasy but also suffering, manifested through suppressing bodily impulses and
instinctive drives and focusing on an afterlife rather than the current moment. In general, it is likely
Nietzsche would react more positively to the Christian ideals embedded in many medieval texts than
he does in the early 20th century. Ben Morgan reveals

The main topics you hear these days when it comes to sex are about how someone has a strong pullout
game or about a pregnancy. It is a falsehood throughout our generation that pulling out during sex and
not ejaculating into a woman s vagina will prevent pregnancies. These are not the things that our
younger generation should grow up with, they are having unprotected sex because they were never
taught the consequences of being unprotected. As ads get sexier and celebrities get sluttier, the word
sex is getting to become more tempting. The article The Mass Media Educate Youth About Sex by
Jane Brown and Sarah Keller states, Typically, those who own and create communications media have
been more concerned with attracting audiences and selling products than they have been promoting
healthy sexuality. Our generation has become embedded with erotic thoughts and actions. Anna
Quindlen mentioned, When I was in high school, at the tail end of the sixties, there was a
straightforward line on sex among my friends. Boys could have it; girls couldn t. A girl who was not a

mention other aspects of sex instead of the typical man women intercourse. In the article dating back

Teacher Identity And Identity
Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an
individual. Teacher identity implies both a cognitive psychological and sociological perspective:
people develop their identity in interaction with other people, but they express their professional
identity in perceptions of who they are and who they want to become as a result of this interaction.

diploma. My father Immigrated to America in the early 1940 s from Puerto Rico, while my mom was
born in the Bronx N.Y and is African American and Bajan decent. I was born in the Bronx in the early

composed of Families of Italian, German Jewish descent. Growing up we spent our weekends and
summers in the Bronx and Spanish Harlem, which allow my siblings and I to stay in touch with our
Afro Latino roots. Attending school on long Island in comparison to NY city schools, was a blessing

What Is Wine Etiquette Essay
Wine is not just a celebrated drink but it holds a seasoned place in the history of liquor. Like
everything in a human life has certain code of rules or etiquettes, wine also has one. I think one should
really know about wine etiquettes before feeling its flawless experience. Precisely, there are wine
fanatics, those principal aficionados of superior wine, and there are wine lovers, or those who just
value wine. The previous have a propensity to be sterner in their conduct and in how they serve and

.1 Aims and objectives of employment regulation Origins of employment law date back to the 14th

(Parssinen, Seppala, pg. 1). The issue is that the abuse of steroids have increased within athletes and
many doctors are concerned of the adverse effects that it will have.
Many studies have been conducted over the past few decades and have shown the harmful effects that
steroids can have on an athlete s body. In the article Steroids in Combat Sports: Adverse effects on
Health written by Malik and Trainor they list some of the damaging effects it can have such as:
stoppage of bone growth resulting in growth retardation which is irreversible, increase risk of muscle
injury, bone destruction, heart disease... (Malik, Trainor, and pg.1) the list goes on to include diseases
such as cancer, and even death.
Most people know that steroids have a harmful, and even deadly, effect on the body. However, Gerard
Thorne in his book Anabolic Primer discusses and challenges the beliefs that many people have on
steroid use. Thorne believes that there is a safer way to use the

Legal and Ethical Considerations in Marketing, Product Safety, and Intellectual Property
Sam Cook
Dr. William Stone
LEG 500
August 28, 2013
1. Research three to five (3 5) ethical issues relating to marketing and advertising, intellectual
property, and regulation of product safety.
When looking at PharmaCARE s relationship with the Colberians, you see that the company s
treatment of the indigenous population is unethical. In terms of intellectual property, the scenario in
Assignment 2 highlights the exploitation of the Colberians. While the indigenous population freely
shares their information about their cures, the company exploits them by not compensating them for
their shared knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, in terms of regulation of product safety, PharmaCARE threw all ethics out the window by
working around a number of safety requirements and putting consumers lives at risk. The organization
used its reputation as a caring, ethical and well run company to pull the wool over the eyes of many.
After reformulating a diabetes drug to treat those suffering from Alzheimer s disease, PharmaCARE
was required to seek FDA approval for distributing the new drug in mass quantities. Instead, it created
a subsidiary that acted as a compounding pharmacy to distribute the drug directly to consumers on a
prescription basis. Although pharmacy compounding, a practice where licensed pharmacists
reformulate drugs to create a medication more suitable to treat a patient s individual need,
PharmaCARE, through CompCARE, went on to sell the product in bulk to hospitals, clinics, and
doctor offices, an action not permitted by pharmacies. Pharmacy compounding, when done properly,
meets a vital public health need when a patient is unable to be treated with a medication approved by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but compounding was never intended to provide
unapproved treatment to the masses. This is illegal and unethical. One of the primary roles of the FDA
is to regulate prescription drugs to ensure safety of the public, but motivated solely by profit,
PharmaCARE took the compound route to avoid the

The Hollow Men Essay
At a point in all mortal s existence, there will be a moment when their soul is between two states of
being, waiting to be judged. Without the fearlessness and faith to move on to the afterlife, they will
spend eternity stuck in purgatory. When T. S. Eliot wrote The Hollow Men, he used symbolism,
imagery, and repetition to share his insight to address the lack of courage and faith that plagues every
human being. T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men is a dramatic monologue, free verse poem that consists of
five parts that could be considered five separate poems. His use of allegorically abstract text
nevertheless achieves a remarkable unity of effect in terms of voice, mood and imagery (Morace 948).
Before the poem starts, there are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part one of the poem opens with We are the hollow men, / We are the stuffed men (3 4). It also ends
with We are the hollow men, / We are the stuffed men (19 20). This use of this repetition is to
reinforce the notion that the hollow men are nothing but emptiness. The image of hollow men who are
Leaning together is one of immobility (Urquhart 199). Shape without form, shade without color, /
Paralyzed force, gesture without motion (13 14) confirms the image that the hollow men are
meaningless, nothing more than a scarecrow lacking embodiment or substance (Bloom 61). In part
two of the poem, Eliot uses eyes as an important and repeated image of spiritual insight (Bloom 61).
Unlike in part one where Eliot writes, Those who have crossed / With direct eyes, to death s other
Kingdom (15 16), In part two, the Hollow Men... have vision that is refracted and distorted (Bloom
61). Eyes I dare not meet in dreams In death s dream kingdom These do not appear: There, the eyes
are Sunlight on a broken column (21 25)
The image suggests a ruin in a classical landscape painting, a symbol of a broken down system of
belief (Bloom 61). The hollow men do not have the faith to be judged and move on to death s other
Kingdom. The lines in part three of the poem This is the dead land / This is cactus land
(41 42) serve as an image of a place lacking life.

Family Systems Therapy And Structural Family Therapy
Historically, the field of social work and its practitioners have been concerned with the welfare of
families and their functioning. When dysfunction is present, families often seek guidance through
family therapy, which has become a strengths based approach to intervention that emphasizes families
resiliency and capacity to solve their problems. Within family practice, practitioners implement
diverse theoretical approaches and practice models, which function as a foundation for family
assessment and intervention methods. This paper seeks to explicate two family intervention models,
Bowen family systems therapy and structural family therapy, and utilize the most effective approach
to develop a treatment plan for a family seeking therapy.
Family Intervention Models
Bowen Family Systems Therapy Rooted in systems theory, Murray Bowen s Bowen family systems
therapy acknowledges the family as a multigenerational emotional system (Nichols, 2013). This
model perceives the family as an interconnected network of emotional reactivity that shapes family
dynamics and interaction patterns. Bowen proposed eight interlocking concepts to elucidate familial
patterns: differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional system, family projection process,
multigenerational transmission process, emotional cutoff, sibling position, and societal emotional
process (Nichols, 2013). It also views families through an individual and collective lens, assessing
how members emotionally driven

Teachers have begun to question the practices of ELL students in receiving services and the regular
education they will receive in some content areas. Though there is often a negative perception towards
these students it seems it is on the side of the teacher and the additional work and accommodations
they will need to provide and alter to meet a student s needs. I was happy to speak with the ELL
teacher and gain some insight on the current efforts to provide high expectations for ELL students
through the use of additional tutors and opportunities. However, if we are not careful and if we stop
questioning our practices on responses to ELL students, we will ultimately allow these practices to
become stable and controlling.
Level IV: Sedimentation Level four, sedimentation, is the final stage of institutionalized inequity. It is
the process in which these responses, practices, and policies settle into the organization. They remain
for years and years without a thought or reconsideration. People within the institution comply and
tolerate the sedimentation so that it remains. As people leave and join the organizations the inequitable
practices continue because they have not only becoming controlling forces but have been passed
down. As the ELL services grow to service the increasing number of students who require them, the
organization will need to continue to examine practices and make educated decision about how

Similarities And Differences Of The Boston Massacre And...
There are many differences and similarities between the Boston Massacre and the Kent State shooting.
One similarity between the two are that both the students and the colonist were throwing rocks and
calling the the soldiers unpoliet names. Both the Ohio National Guard and the British Soldiers fired at
the students and colonist. Also both the National Guard and the British soldiers carried bayonets. Both
protests were strong enough that proper authorities had to come in and help maintain the crowd who
were protesting. The protesters both went to a bar before they started to protest. Now I m going to start
talking about some differences. There are many similarities; however, there are also many differences.
To start, the Boston Massacre started because the colonist didn t want to pay taxes (Townshend Act)
unless they had representatives in parliament. The colonist were having to pay for land that they were
not allowed to use, they also had to pay taxes for the British soldiers to come to the colonies. It only
made the colonist more mad when they had to pay for the British soldiers to come to the colonies. The

Essay on Td Canada Trust
TD Canada Trust
Executive Summary After the completion of a mega merger, TD Canada Trust seeks to reposition the
brand in order to retain customers and realize steady revenue growth. To examine the investment
return of the new brand campaign comfortable banking , Executive VP Armstrong led his team
developed a linkage analysis system and proposed a new branch incentive plan. This essay aims to
evaluate the linkage analysis model and its effectiveness, also to comment on the incentive plan based
on results of linkage analysis .
The Merger between the Green and the Red
In 1999, an $8 billion mega merger between TD Bank and Canada Trust lifted the former fifth largest
commercial bank to its third largest place. The former ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The immediate purpose that Armstrong has set for the linkage analysis is to measure the impact that
specific enhancements for reductions of key customer satisfaction drivers would have on branches
financial performance. From a technical point of view, the regression model is well developed with the
data provided. Each factor s weighed impact to the final gross contribution is indicated in the results.
Interpretation of the linkage analysis results
While the process of model development may seem compelling, major flaws exists in the linkage
analysis , diminishing its credibility.
Armstrong s team used branch level data from the CSI system as the primary source of research. As a
result the concept of comfortable banking is directly translated into customers satisfaction during their
interaction with tellers in the bank, since almost every criteria in the CSI is measuring representative
service behaviors. One thing that the team failed to see is that comfortable banking could include a
much wider scope of services that customers value therefore consider important to their experience:
the products itself and services provided outside the bank for instance. According to Armstrong,
comfortable banking positioning stands for the branding of the overall experience TD Canada Trust
delivers to its clients. The financial products, as the core business of any banks throughout the world,
should be counted as part of the service, too.

What Is Extreme Sports Essay
Your life is always at risk. Eating, sleeping, playing everything you do has a risk to it, there isn t that
much difference between extreme sports and your everyday life.
Is extreme sports a healthy decision or a selfish one. I say that most extreme sports are healthy,
however, a few extreme sports are selfish. However, life is always a risk, so the argument for enjoying
life to the maximum doing extreme sports and keeping healthy has benefits that outweigh the fear of
what might happen or the concern about selfishness.
An extreme sport is when someone risks his or her life for the pleasure, or momentary thrill of just
having fun, or getting paid for taking part in the a death defying sport.
I believe that there are many extreme sports that are healthy challenging such as mountain climbing.
On the other hand, I also believe that there are extreme sports like, Boxing, Bull Fighting, Sky Diving
; all three sports provide a thrilling experience for the person taking part in the sport. On the other
hand the risk of life, or great injury is a constant reality.
When a person is asked to put his life on the line for the pleasure of others, I believe that is very ...

Boxing has many risks to it like getting beaten up and suffering from the effects of physical and

downsides there are , remains in control of the sport because he or she can at anytime stop the game.
Knowing the dangers involved anyways, the boxer continues to take part in the sport because of
loving the sport. In this way, someone who does not like the sport can critique the player for being
selfish. The boxer can argue with this by saying that when good training is part of the boxers life,
learning good defense helps minimize the dangers. So, in that way that in one extreme sport that is not

Notes On Data Mining And Association Rule Mining Essay
CHAPTER 2
2. Background and Literature Review
The purpose of this chapter is to show an in depth review of the topics, areas and works related to the
research presented here. we conduct a brief but comprehensive in depth review of data mining and
association rule mining approaches and techniques, followed by a focus at interestingness quality, and
redundancy issues related to association rule mining. This review sets the basic work for our research
and the proposals made here.
2.1 Data mining
Data Mining technique is the result of a long process of studies and research in the area of databases
and product development. This evolution began when business data and companies was stored for the
first time on computer device, with continuous improvements in access to data and more newly,
produced technologies that allow users to navigate during their data in real time. Data mining is a
approach that help to mine important data from a large database. It is the technique of classification
during huge amounts of data and chosen out relevant information during the use of certain advanced
algorithms. Like more data is collected, with the amount of data doubling every one years, data
mining is becoming an more and more important tool to convert this data into information. Data
mining takes this evolutionary process behind retrospective data access and navigation to prospective
and proactive information delivery. Data mining is very useful and ready in applications in the
business

Essay on The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter
The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter
There is no doubt in the minds of many people who are familiar with the Rubin Hurricane Carter story
that he, and the man who was convicted for murder with him, John Artis, are innocent of those crimes.
While no one knows for sure who is guilty of the crime, but the one thing that is for certain is that
Carter and Artis were victims of racial bias from many people who would see them in jail. This story
is truly a tragic one of a promising career, and of a life that was spoiled by prejudice and one that
reviles some of the ways in which, society s present legal system can fail to ensure the right of justice
for people in our society.
In a 1975 Penthouse Interview Carter stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

illegally withheld from the jury. An all white death jury (a jury in which, each person is supportive of
capital punishment and are generally more supportive of a conviction) sentenced Carter and Artis to
serve three consecutive life sentences for the murder of two men and a women in the Lafayette Bar in
New Jersey in 1966.
Besides the anticipated hardships that accompanied a long term stay in prison, Carter had to bare the

his detainment, Rahway State Prison, to the Vroom Readjustment Unit at the Trenton State Psychiatric

Howard s workchoices for quiet sometime and must focus on recruiting new members (Brigden, 2008,
pg 365) if unions are going to remain within Australia. Human Resources practices have also impacted
on unions as managers within a workplace are encouraged to now work directly with their employees,

extremely beneficial for its members. A union offers it s members the chance to join a collective

workplace protection ( Balnave et al, 2007, pg 131). The culture of the workplace may also influence

The Characteristics Of John Wooden s Definition Of Success
John Wooden once said, Success is peace of mind attained only through self satisfaction and knowing
you ve made the effort, do the best of what you re capable. This quote is relevant to the question of
what success is to me. This is relevant to the question of what is the definition of success because John
Wooden s definition of success is near perfect. To give you a better understanding, I will use three
different traits from the Pyramid of Success. I will explain to you why these are related to success.
Finally, I will use examples from the skype that our History in the Movies class had with former
basketball player, Bobby Plump. The first trait from the Pyramid of Success that I think creates
success is Confidence. I think confidence is a really big deal when it comes to success. If you come
into a sports game and you believe that you and your team will come out victorious, than you and your
team will play at higher levels. It doesn t matter if the challengers have more talent, it matters who has
more heart. When Bobby Plump put up a shot when he played basketball, he didn t this it was going to
miss, he thought it was going through the net every single time. In the movie Hoosiers, when Jimmy
Chitwood (Bobby Plump), shot the ball, he could be moving, fading away, or the shot could be heavily
contested and he would miss sometimes. But after all, he kept shooting because he was confident.
Confidence doesn t just pass for sports, it is also a trait you should hold

  • 3. Traditional Families In The 1800s Families in History There are many ways that the idea of the traditional family has changed over the past several centuries. For instance prior to the 19th century family was often considered anyone who lived within a household whether related by blood or not. This included employees and extended family. The biological family was less sacrosanct, and less sentimentalized, than it would become in the nineteenth century. (Coontz 35) In society at the time it was socially unacceptable to be separate and not included as part of a family household. Over time the term family came to encompass the immediate family, a husband, wife and their children. A cultural revolution began in the eighteenth century when many middle class parents began to relish in their children s innocence and saw this a time to nurture mold their children. As this form of parenting became the norm many parents began to have less children by using birth control, thus giving the fewer children they had more of their attention. As time progressed kids spent more time going to school rather than to work. Within the last 3 centuries Societal views about methods of Child rearing, the nature of children s play, the ideal duration of schooling, the participation of young people in work, and the demarcation points between childhood, adolescence, and adulthood have shifted significantly. • 4. The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization Essay The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization The Rise and fall of the Aztec Empire is possibly the most important area of study in the modern world. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler Itzcoatl, the empire expanded to include millions of people from a number of different tribes, including the Cempoala, who would later aid the Spanish in defeating the Aztecs. Because of the melting pot within the empire, the Aztecs had a very diverse culture. However, this immense Aztec Empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fearful of the Spanish, and hateful of the wealth and power of the Aztecs, some of the native tribes, particularly the Cempoala and others from the cities of Tlaxcala and Tezcoca, joined forces with Cortes. After the Spaniards annihilated the Cholultecas, the terrified people of the Aztec empire did their best to please them, as the Europeans made their way inland. By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless, Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king. Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and could not be resisted. However, this angered the Aztecs even more, both at the Spanish and Montezuma. As advanced as the Aztecs were, they were no match for the Spanish forces. The Spanish ... Shortly after his wedding John?s father in law offered him a job. John and his new wife then moved to Iowa. John was a tireless worker, but maintained an active community involvement through the Jaycees. During this period, John and his wife invited employees to their home for drinks and television. Hidden in the game room were homosexual videos, alcohol, and marijuana. One particular visit to their home, John approached employee Westphal to solicit a blowjob. Although Westphal declined the offer, John would joke with him that if he ever caught Westphal with his wife, he would owe John that blowjob. During a subsequent visit, Westphal became inebriated at John?s house and stayed the night in the guest room. After Westphal began to doze off, Marilynn entered the room and joined Westphal in bed. Nitrous Oxide After James began to consider the possible different explanations for the ambiguities that exist in human consciousness, he began to experiment with drugs, specifically nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a chemical that is more commonly known at laughing gas that is used most commonly in dental offices and it is a substance that alters the conscious state of a person. In an article published in 1996 in the Atlantic, Dmitri Tymoczko explores the often unknown influence of Nitrous Oxide on the thought of James. Dionysus, representing the oneness of existence, is experienced as an individuated image appearing to dazed spectators a relationship that is the germ of Greek tragic theater as a mimesis of human life (505). If this concept were to exist in Lybeaus Desconus, the townspeople would experience a sense of awe for both women displayed during the exhibition. They might compare in positive terms the difference between and preferences they might see. In addition, the hero who is on display (in this case, Lybeaus Desconus) would provide a sense of unity between the Dionysian and the Apollonian. Instead of the Apollonian figure emerging from the primordial oneness of existence where opposites would coexist, Lybeaus Desconus systematically slaughters the creatures that represent wildness and restricts notions of beauty. The foreground of Nietzsche s criticisms of Christianity comprises repudiating not only ecstasy but also suffering, manifested through suppressing bodily impulses and instinctive drives and focusing on an afterlife rather than the current moment. In general, it is likely Nietzsche would react more positively to the Christian ideals embedded in many medieval texts than he does in the early 20th century. Ben Morgan reveals ... When dysfunction is present, families often seek guidance through family therapy, which has become a strengths based approach to intervention that emphasizes families resiliency and capacity to solve their problems. Within family practice, practitioners implement diverse theoretical approaches and practice models, which function as a foundation for family assessment and intervention methods. This paper seeks to explicate two family intervention models, Bowen family systems therapy and structural family therapy, and utilize the most effective approach to develop a treatment plan for a family seeking therapy. Family Intervention Models Bowen Family Systems Therapy Rooted in systems theory, Murray Bowen s Bowen family systems therapy acknowledges the family as a multigenerational emotional system (Nichols, 2013). This model perceives the family as an interconnected network of emotional reactivity that shapes family dynamics and interaction patterns. Bowen proposed eight interlocking concepts to elucidate familial patterns: differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional system, family projection process, multigenerational transmission process, emotional cutoff, sibling position, and societal emotional process (Nichols, 2013). One similarity between the two are that both the students and the colonist were throwing rocks and calling the the soldiers unpoliet names. Both the Ohio National Guard and the British Soldiers fired at the students and colonist. Also both the National Guard and the British soldiers carried bayonets. Both protests were strong enough that proper authorities had to come in and help maintain the crowd who were protesting. The protesters both went to a bar before they started to protest. Now I m going to start talking about some differences. There are many similarities; however, there are also many differences. To start, the Boston Massacre started because the colonist didn t want to pay taxes (Townshend Act) unless they had representatives in parliament. The colonist were having to pay for land that they were not allowed to use, they also had to pay taxes for the British soldiers to come to the colonies. The immediate purpose that Armstrong has set for the linkage analysis is to measure the impact that specific enhancements for reductions of key customer satisfaction drivers would have on branches financial performance. From a technical point of view, the regression model is well developed with the data provided. Each factor s weighed impact to the final gross contribution is indicated in the results. Interpretation of the linkage analysis results While the process of model development may seem compelling, major flaws exists in the linkage analysis , diminishing its credibility. Armstrong s team used branch level data from the CSI system as the primary source of research. As a result the concept of comfortable banking is directly translated into customers satisfaction during their interaction with tellers in the bank, since almost every criteria in the CSI is measuring representative service behaviors. One thing that the team failed to see is that comfortable banking could include a much wider scope of services that customers value therefore consider important to their experience: the products itself and services provided outside the bank for instance. According to Armstrong, comfortable banking positioning stands for the branding of the overall experience TD Canada Trust delivers to its clients. The financial products, as the core business of any banks throughout the world, should be counted as part of the service, too. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eating, sleeping, playing everything you do has a risk to it, there isn t that much difference between extreme sports and your everyday life. Is extreme sports a healthy decision or a selfish one. I say that most extreme sports are healthy, however, a few extreme sports are selfish. However, life is always a risk, so the argument for enjoying life to the maximum doing extreme sports and keeping healthy has benefits that outweigh the fear of what might happen or the concern about selfishness. An extreme sport is when someone risks his or her life for the pleasure, or momentary thrill of just having fun, or getting paid for taking part in the a death defying sport. I believe that there are many extreme sports that are healthy challenging such as mountain climbing. On the other hand, I also believe that there are extreme sports like, Boxing, Bull Fighting, Sky Diving ; all three sports provide a thrilling experience for the person taking part in the sport. On the other hand the risk of life, or great injury is a constant reality. When a person is asked to put his life on the line for the pleasure of others, I believe that is very ... The boxer however, despite what negatives and downsides there are , remains in control of the sport because he or she can at anytime stop the game. Knowing the dangers involved anyways, the boxer continues to take part in the sport because of loving the sport. In this way, someone who does not like the sport can critique the player for being selfish. The boxer can argue with this by saying that when good training is part of the boxers life, learning good defense helps minimize the dangers. So, in that way that in one extreme sport that is not selfish or at least the levels of selfishness are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter There is no doubt in the minds of many people who are familiar with the Rubin Hurricane Carter story that he, and the man who was convicted for murder with him, John Artis, are innocent of those crimes. While no one knows for sure who is guilty of the crime, but the one thing that is for certain is that Carter and Artis were victims of racial bias from many people who would see them in jail. This story is truly a tragic one of a promising career, and of a life that was spoiled by prejudice and one that reviles some of the ways in which, society s present legal system can fail to ensure the right of justice for people in our society. In a 1975 Penthouse Interview Carter stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A tape of Bello stating he was not sure that the suspected men were the ones at the crime scene apparently existed and was in the custody of the prosecutors but was illegally withheld from the jury. An all white death jury (a jury in which, each person is supportive of capital punishment and are generally more supportive of a conviction) sentenced Carter and Artis to serve three consecutive life sentences for the murder of two men and a women in the Lafayette Bar in New Jersey in 1966. Besides the anticipated hardships that accompanied a long term stay in prison, Carter had to bare the force of other unfair actions. In April 1974 Carter was illegally transferred from the original place of his detainment, Rahway State Prison, to the Vroom Readjustment Unit at the Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital (http://www.stanford.edu/~zdillon/story.html). He remained there for three months until Carter filed a federal suit against the state for inflicting cruel and unusual punishment on him and was released from his illegal holding. The unions however will remain tarnished from Howard s workchoices for quiet sometime and must focus on recruiting new members (Brigden, 2008, pg 365) if unions are going to remain within Australia. Human Resources practices have also impacted on unions as managers within a workplace are encouraged to now work directly with their employees, rather then including a third party such as a trade union ( Balnave et al, 2007, pg 169). • 35. The Characteristics Of John Wooden s Definition Of Success John Wooden once said, Success is peace of mind attained only through self satisfaction and knowing you ve made the effort, do the best of what you re capable. This quote is relevant to the question of what success is to me. This is relevant to the question of what is the definition of success because John Wooden s definition of success is near perfect. To give you a better understanding, I will use three different traits from the Pyramid of Success. I will explain to you why these are related to success. Finally, I will use examples from the skype that our History in the Movies class had with former basketball player, Bobby Plump. The first trait from the Pyramid of Success that I think creates success is Confidence. I think confidence is a really big deal when it comes to success. If you come into a sports game and you believe that you and your team will come out victorious, than you and your team will play at higher levels. It doesn t matter if the challengers have more talent, it matters who has more heart. When Bobby Plump put up a shot when he played basketball, he didn t this it was going to miss, he thought it was going through the net every single time. In the movie Hoosiers, when Jimmy Chitwood (Bobby Plump), shot the ball, he could be moving, fading away, or the shot could be heavily contested and he would miss sometimes. But after all, he kept shooting because he was confident. Confidence doesn t just pass for sports, it is also a trait you should hold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
