Implementing A New Communication Record For Tracking...
Assessment of Problem: Clearly describe the problem in your work unit and your plan to solve the
problem.
The problem within the work unit is that we tend to be complacent and sees things as they are and not
as they could be. The Agency s mission is To responsibly provide access to quality health coverage for
vulnerable Mississippians. In order to accurately carry out this mission, the Office of Appeals needs to
aggressively keep up with advances in technology (i.e. computer application and software), and
eagerly embrace new found ways of ensuring that our clients receive information and assistance as
quick and efficiently as possible. My plan to solve this problem is to create, and then recommend
implementing a new communication record for tracking beneficiaries and clients request for a state
eligibility hearing. Each record will be assigned an appeal number that would allow us to track the
case from receipt through resolution.
To date, the Office of Appeals is utilizing an Excel spreadsheet to record and track incoming requests
(See Attachment I). The spreadsheet displays data in text and numbers, which allows sorting and
calculations. The problem with the spreadsheet is it does not effectively provide electronic tracking of
incoming eligibility appeal requests from the Agency s thirty (30) regional offices. Also, the problem
is that the spreadsheet does not allow space for more specific data to be entered that is considered
pertinent to the case (See Attachment

Kay Redfield Jamison s Life
Kay Redfield Jamison was born on June 22, 1946 in the United States of America. She received her
Bachelors and Masters in the University of California, also known as UCLA. After accomplishing
these goals, she set out to acquire her Ph.D., which she did, also at UCLA in the year 1975. UCLA is
significant for a number of reasons. Upon completing her degrees, she began to work there as an
assistant professor and then rose to the rank of associate professor. Though she was an associate
professor of psychiatry in 1981, she made a significant impact by establishing the Affective Disorders
Clinic at her alma mater in the year of 77. Her experience as an associate professor in psychiatry
helped her gain a significant position at John Hopkins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, she was recognized for her work with the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia
and Depression in 2007. Included with her awards was the title of Hero of Medicine by Time
magazine in 1997. Throughout this time of awards and accreditation, she also took the role of co
director of the Mood Disorders Center since the year 2005. In addition to her professional standing at
Johns Hopkins, she also frequently travels to Scotland where she works at the University of St.
Andrews as a professor of English and Neurophysiology.
Given her accreditation and awards for her work in her community, as well as her literature, it is easy
to see why she continues to make an impact in her field. Throughout her college career, and thereafter,
she has made monumental influences in the lives of others through her research. Moreover, her
knowledge of those who have disorders helps people understand that she truly does know what they
are going through. Jamison was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she was 28 years old. Not only
does this allow her to empathize with others by allowing her to walk in the same shoes as them, she is
still able to perform her duties as a psychologist. Not only does she understand others with bipolar
disorder, she understands how she affects others with her disorder. Some may think that by outing
herself as having a mood disorder, she may have hindered her career. In fact, it

Madonna Of Stairs
Known as one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, Michelangelo was born on March 6th,
1475 to a noble family in Florentine, Italy. At the age of only 13, Michelangelo was apprenticed to
Domenico Ghirlandaio, and placed him in a studio to learn the fundamentals of art. He only worked
there for about a year after Lorenzo de Medici invited him to his home to work as an artist for them.
One of the most renowned work from his teen years was the marble sculpture called The Madonna of
Stairs , which was famous for the muscle that he applied to the art. After the death of Lorenzo the
Magnificent, Michelangelo traveled to many places, one of them being Rome during the time of Pope
Alexander VI. In 1498, he was commissioned to

Religion In The Decameron
Religion
Boccaccio also infused The Decameron with his opinions on the Catholic church, which even at that
time was Italy s primary religious institution. Catholicism may have been popular, but Boccaccio was
very blatant in showing that he did not approve of the Church s conduct. In The Decameron, religion
was practiced by fools, the church was a breeding ground for mischief, and marriage was a transaction
devoid of meaning.
Perhaps the most foolish characters readers could come across in The Decameron were Friar Alberto
and Monna Lisetta. Boccaccio masterfully parodied the Church by introducing Friar Alberto as a
former con man who moved to Venice and became a priest: already, Boccaccio has criticized the
vetting process for potential religious officials. Monna Lisetta, the next character introduced, is a vain,
airheaded devotee of the angel Gabriel. By having these silly characters meet in a religious setting,
Boccaccio mocked the Catholics of his day, especially once Friar Alberto used his credibility as a man
of God to trick the gullible Monna Lisetta into having sex with Gabriel, who would be possessing the
friar s own body. Boccaccio could hardly be more derisive toward the Church than with this tragic
story.
But Friar Alberto and Monna Lisetta were not Boccaccio s only example of mischief that had its roots
in a church: the wife of Pietro di Vinciolo essentially asked a friend to arrange extramarital liaisons for
her in exchange for a piece of jerky. According

Organized Crime In The 1800s
Organized crime has been present in the history of the United States and can be traced back to the
streets of the early 1800 s. Organized crime occurs when a group of people congregate together and
plan to commit a series of crimes to make money, usually illegally. Organized crime groups have
evolved over time from small rackets to grand organizations like the Italian Mafia. Crime particularly
began to become prominent in urban areas during the prohibition. Organized crime is still just as
visible today as it was back in the early 1800 s. The first successful organized crime group was the
Forty Thieves of New York. This group formed as hundreds of immigrants came together for their
own protection and financial gain. Organized crime became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Layout Of The Cinerama Dome
The layout of the Cinerama Dome consists of an auditorium, lobby, restrooms, projection rooms, and
storage, see Fig 7. The entrance is located at the centre of the façade and is composed of glazed
aluminum doors. The ticket sales area is located to the right of the main entrance. Concrete block wing
walls enclose the lobby, which are embellished with decorative detailing in the form of alternating
projecting half blocks arranged in a grid pattern (Emerton 2003, P 38). The exterior is circular in plan
and the majority of the exterior surface consists of the domed roof. The entrance is housed within a

The existing building façade, including the third floor windows were retained (Heller 2015, p 12). The
new building walls were finished in smooth white stucco, as can be seen in Fig 11. The cinema
complex is accessible via the third floor of the Santa Monica Place courtyard through glass entry
doors. Evolution is also seen through the materiality used in the cinemas. The Egyptian decor
consisted of soft reds, blues, and yellows. The screen was framed by four, giant pillars 1.4 m wide and
6 m high, their surfaces painted and decorated with papyrus plants and topped by a pair of large,
receding lintels (Ames Wagner 2009, p 125). In 1924, Art and Archaeology stated Grauman s

hieroglyphics, but is a replica of real Egyptian art and architecture (Handy, 2008). Concrete, plaster
and stone blocks were used to save costs and looked similar to those used in Ancient Egyptian
architecture (Ames Wagner 2009, p 125). The entire theatre s decor consisted of motifs such as
hieroglyphs, animal headed gods, pharaohs, jackals, winged scarabs, bas relief sphinx heads (Handy,

Italy Post 1815
There were many different empires on the European continent before Napoleon s rule. As many as 20
Italian city states existed, all of which were tiny. Before unification, Italy had not been unified since
the Roman Empire. The Congress of Vienna restored pre Napoleonic independent governments. The
Austrian Empire opposed unification because it controlled Northeastern Italy at the time. The papacy
(the Pope and the church) also opposed unification because it feared persecution. Whether the new
Italy would be a confederation, a republic, or a monarchy was not yet decided.

Essay about Loyalty by Yulia Drunina
Aldous Huxley once said, One of the great attractions of patriotism it fulfills our worst wishes. In the
person of our nation we are able, vicariously, to bully and cheat. Bully and cheat, what s more, with a
feeling that we are profoundly virtuous (Huxley, 2013). Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is about her
devotion to her motherland Russia. Yulia Drunina is a Russian poem writer that writes a lot of her
poems about Russia. Yulia wrote the poem Loyalty to describe her love for her dying motherland. This
poem s meaning is that Yulia loves Russia so much that she will never forget about it and go wherever
it goes.
The speaker of the poem is Yulia Drunina. She grew up in the U.S.S.R and wrote the poem Loyalty .
She loves the old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem has some examples of alliteration. Yulia wants to get her point across and she wants to
emphasize it. So she uses alliteration to get it across. For example, Yulia wrote, Maybe you ll meet
some girl, / More lovely, more wise, or more dear. She repeats more often and this gives the feeling of
how much more she thinks her country will find some other type of person that is more important to
itself (Drunina, 1946).
Metaphors play a huge part in explaining how Russia made Yulia feel. It gives us the mood or feel of
the place. An example would be, Your tranquil pines, and such things / As the nocturnal Pakhra flows,
as Yulia wrote (Drunina, 1946). This comparison refers to the peacefulness of the U.S.S.R and gives
the image of it being quiet and peaceful. The reader can now imagine a quiet area where there is not a
single bother in the world with this metaphor.
Yulia had some examples of symbolism in her poem. Yulia wrote As the nocturnal Pakhra flows
(Drunina, 1946). She uses a real river in Russia to symbolise the tranquility of her home. The river is a
calm force running downstream, so it can symbolise calmness. Readers now get the image of calmness
from just reading that and that is what Yulia intended to do.
Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is a great poem about the U.S.S.R. Yulia wrote this poem to explain and
express her feelings about her old home which is the U.S.S.R. She was expressing how

Adolf Hitler Rises to Power in Europe While the U.S....
The instability created in Europe by World War I set the stage for another international conflict World
War II, which broke out two decades later and proved to be even more devastating. Rising to power in
an unstable country, Germany, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party had ambitions of world domination.
Hitler s invasion of Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on
Germany, and World War II had begun. Over the next six years, the conflict would take more lives and
destroy more land and property around the globe than any previous war with estimated 45 60 million
casualties (Stevenson). During World War II various codes were used by American soldiers to relay
encrypted messages. The Axis powers, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of the Navajo language to create a code during World War II was the idea of Philip Johnston,
the son of William and Margaret Johnston who were Protestant missionaries to the Navajo (Holm 71).
Johnston was born and raised in the reservation; he was also the one of very few Americans who could
speak the Navajo language precisely (Aaseng 17). In February of 1942, Johnston was able to present
the language to the commanders of the Marine Corps and the idea impressed them, so that they
allowed Johnston to start a Navajo Code Talker Test Program. Later in April, Johnston and the Marine
Corps commanders went to the reservation and recruited thirty men (Aaseng 23). The men that were
recruited marked the start of the pilot program. Of the first thirty men who joined the program, only
twenty nine completed it and went to help the war effort. The two men that had dropped out were not
qualified for service as code talkers for the Marine Corps (Paul 75). This group of the twenty nine
Navajo men came to be called the original twenty nine. The Navajo men that were recruited often
lacked birth certificates so it was impossible for the Marine Corps to verify ages, but after the war it
was discovered that some recruits were as young as fifteen and some were as old as thirty five (Paul
14). Once the Navajo men were given the task to create the code it was not an easy task. Each military
word had to be given a code name and the code name had to be

Essay On The Emancipation Proclamation
In April of 1865, the President of the United States was shot in the back of the head in the middle of a
crowded theater. The audience panicked, the assassin made his escape, and the unconscious president
was carried to a cramped bedroom in a house across the street from Ford s Theatre. A few hours later,
Abraham Lincoln died. For the first time in the nation s history, a president had been assassinated. But
it was only one of the dramatic changes that shaped the United States in 1865. Four years of civil war
by far the single bloodiest conflict in American history finally drew to a close. The Union Army
victorious, politicians now faced the question of how to reunite a shattered nation. And still, another
change was emerging one that would not be decided by violence and bloodshed, but that would have
just as dramatic an effect in redefining America s social, political, and economic life. The time had
finally come to address America s original sin the legal question of slavery s abolition would finally be
resolved. Two years previously, on January 1, 1863, President Lincoln issued what we now call the
Emancipation Proclamation. Through this executive order, every enslaved person living in areas
controlled by the Confederacy was now, legally, freed. Though this action would earn Lincoln noble
nicknames like The Liberator and The Great Emancipator, the legal repercussions of the act were
ambiguous at best. Many questioned the president s authority to

A Survey Of The New Testament
A Survey of the New Testament The New Testament is defined as part of the Bible concerned with the
life and teachings of Christ and his earliest followers (American Century Dictionary 387). The Son of
God comes to Earth to save us from our sins and to teach us a new way of serving the Lord. Animal
sacrifice is done away with because Jesus died for our sins as a perfect sacrifice and his sacrifice is
everlasting. Jesus explained, for God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but
that the world through him might be saved (John 3.17). This collection consists of twenty seven
books, in which I will break down into five sections. First are the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John, the book of Acts, which is commonly classified as a book of history. Next are the epistles of
Paul which are the book of Romans through Philemon, the general epistles of Hebrews through Jude,
and the prophecy book of Revelation. 1. The Gospels The book of Matthew provides a detailed
account of the life of Jesus and establishes that Jesus Christ is the Messiah who fulfills the Old
Testament prophesies (Wiersbe 627). The author Matthew is primarily aiming his writings at the Jews
to let them know that he is the savior who is referred to several times in the Old Testament (Isiah 7:14,
53:5, 53:12). This book is also the longest of the four gospels having twenty eight chapters. Mark is
the shortest of the four gospels having 16 chapters, but is equally important as the

Classroom incivility is one of the major problems affecting most of the learning institutions in the
United States. Tutorial room misconduct can be defined as any action that affects the cooperative and
harmonious learning environment (Klebig et al. 154). Impolite students behaviors not only interrupt
the overall learning atmosphere for learners but also lead to the instructors discontent and stress. As a
result, most lectures struggle to effectively and efficiently manage classrooms with frequent students
misbehaviors. In addition, the overall disruption conduct violates the understanding of respect to

Book Analysis All But My Life
February 15, 2013
All But My Life All But My Life is a memoir about a young Jewish girl, Gerda Weissmann, who was
able to endure the hardships of World War II and the Holocaust. Gerda went through and saw more
horrific things in the matter of a few years than any of us will ever have to face in our lifetimes. The
fact that a girl this young and hopeless can withstand so much pain but yet contain so much strength
should be an inspiration to all. Reading this book really opened my eyes to what the world can bring.

Also it was written for those who were unable to survive the Holocaust. For those who will never be
able to share their hard fought journey and are now just another number to total of lives lost during the
Holocaust.
Gerda s long and eventful journey didn t just take place in one location or even just one concentration
camp for that matter. Her journey had several stops along the way and consisted of days and days of
traveling in the harshest conditions. The journey of Gerda s story begins in September of 1939 in her
hometown of Bielitz, Poland (4). Bielitz is where Gerda spent roughly the first sixteen years of her life
(43). In the early summer of 1942 Bielitz is Judenreined which means free of Jews basically. Gerda
and her family are split and to travel in different directions. Gerda is headed toward Sosnowitz, Poland
and gets there in June 1942 (96). From Sosnowitz, Gerda is sent to her first concentration camp in
Bolkenhain, Germany (113). While at Bolkenhain, Gerda worked thread machines day in and day out;
however, all in all the girls were treated pretty well at Bolkenhain compared to other concentration
camps. Gerda would later found out that Bolkenhain was like heaven in comparison to what was to
come. Soon Gerda and the rest of the girls are sent to another concentration camp called Marzdorf in
September of 1943 (145). Marzdorf was nothing like Bolkenhain and was purely miserable for Gerda.

Operating System Structure Of A Single Large Executable...
OPERATING SYSTEM STRUCTURE The operating system can be defined as a collection of written
procedures, linked together into a single large executable binary program. The most useful and better
approach is divide the task into small components /modules instead of having one monolithic system
so that the operating system can function properly and can be modified easily. Input, output and
functions should be clearly defined in each of the system modules as far as we can finally come with
large and complex system. Simple structure, layered structure, microkernel, client server systems and
virtual machines are among different structures of operating system. 1.Simple Structure Well defined
structures are very important in operating systems. Scope, functionality and well designed modules are
main factor to consider to make sure the system will satisfy user needs and provides a good service to

Earned capital tells an investor more about the condition of the company. Earned capital is the money
that an organization has generated as a result of operations. New companies will usually hold onto this
money as retained earnings to use for future growth.
From the investor s point of view, it is important that a company earns income from operations better
than the sale of stock. The quantity of received capital of a company report in their financial
statements demonstrates to the stockholders the real cost of their assets. Although a company that
constantly report paid in capital in additional of earned capital, would not be seen as a good
investment opportunity.
The diluted earnings per share demonstrate to the investor possible dilutive common shares that were
unpaid during the certain period. The investor review the importance of diluted earnings per share by a
calculation: the basic earnings per share net income divided by the weighted average shares unpaid,
plus the earnings per share less any convertibles and impact of options, warrants, and other dilutive

Conclusion
Paid in capital is retained separate from earned capital to avoid misreading information where
operational subsidies are created. Investors are most likely to be more concerned with a company

Descriptive Essay On A Car
The car ride wasn t that long, but it felt like forever. Once we got out of my familiar range of York my
mind drifted off the anticipation but it still stayed close behind. The music coming from the car was
blurred from my lack of attention to it. The sound of my dad s voice on another business call coming
from the front was also put to the side as all my attention was tentatively directed to my phone.
Scrolling through feeds and games the log eternity of the car ride drew more intense. Though it was
only an hour or two, boredom set in unusually fast. My mom sat quietly in the passenger seat doing
the same as I, mindlessly passing the time, ignoring the anticipation. The distinguished right turn that
my dad knew not to miss changed to cars gravity to the left shifting everything with it. As we made
our way closer to our destination the scenery started to look more like Nebraska than the Mason Dixon
Line.
The left turn onto the loud gravel driveway rumbled the car again as we pulled closer to the two house
like buildings. The feelings grew stronger, though I knew that it would be a while until the moment
came. My mom was definitely the most excited out of the three of us. She loved puppies. As we
stepped out of the car a pickup truck pulled in behind us. We were both parked by a small building
which I could see through the window was the info and paying register.

Sustainability And Discredit Arguments For Space Exploration
I am writing this paper to claim that space exploration is a huge waste of resources and we should
focus our efforts on the sustainability of the Earth. I plan to explore the benefits of sustainability and
discredit arguments for space exploration. Sustainability is the more realistic and feasible choice. A
very popular argument for space exploration is to protect our Earth that we have managed to almost
destroy, by finding another planet to retreat to. Many people believe the only option is to spend
billions of dollars, that we do not necessarily have, into space exploration. It is said that there are
Earth like planets that would potentially be able to support life. People believe space exploration is
necessary for long term survival. It is a popular concept that something drastic will happen to Earth,
weather it be caused by man or natural disaster. Basic facts state that if we continue treating Earth the
way we do, Earth will not be able to support human life and will be rendered uninhabitable. With the
information that I and billions of other believe to be legitimate many people jump to space exploration
as the only answer. A popular concept is terraforming. Terraforming is the process of transforming a
hostile environment into one suitable for human life. Being that Mars is the most Earth like planet in
our solar system, it is the best candidate for terraforming. It is believed that terraforming any planet
would take centuries for just the initial steps, and much

Laura and Julius lived next door to their brother, Robert Orsini, for over forty years. Their sister,
Diane, lived on the other side of Robert. Julius and Robert were very close and visited each other
daily. Robert handled Julius s financial and business matters.
On May 25, 2006, Laura and Julius executed identical wills leaving their estates to each other and then
to their relatives. These wills were very specific about the percentages of bequests to each branch of
the family. Each will also provided for a bequest to Julius s friend Gene Rosato. Laura Impressa died
in September 2008, leaving her entire estate to Julius.
The testimony indicates that, after Laura s death, Robert [*12] Orsini began to tell other family
members that he felt the 2006 Will was unfair to his family. Robert made comments to family
members about changing the 2006 Will, saying such things as I have him right where I want him, and
there wasn t a will that couldn t be broken. Robert Orsini, however, testified that he never brought the
2006 Will up to Julius. There was also testimony that Julius expressed frustration with the family s
interest in his 2006 Will, stating to his niece that he was tired of everyone talking about the will.

Best Evidence Based Practice Of Prevention And Management...
Best Evidence Based Practice of Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers Evidence based
practice is a process involving the examination and application of research findings or other reliable
evidence that has been integrated with scientific theories and taking into consideration the patient s
preferences and values (Schmidt Brown, 2015, p.4). It is constructed from the three components of
patient preferences, clinical judgment or expertise, and the best available evidence (Schmidt Brown,
2015). Evidence based practice is an important tool to provide the highest quality of patient care,
improve patient outcomes, and reduce patient care costs (Schmidt Brown, 2015). Pressure ulcers, also
known as pressure sores, bedsores, and decubitus ulcers, result from pressure or shear friction and
pressure that cause skin and underlying tissue to breakdown (Pamaiahgari, 2014, p.1). This is
commonly seen over bony prominences such as the sacrum or the heel. Pressure ulcers prove to be an
issue for the patient and require the determination of best practice to prevent the pressure ulcer and the
complications that can accompany it. Pressure ulcers can be infected, increase in size, odor, and
drainage, have necrotic tissue, be indurated, warm, and painful (Lewis et. al, 2014, p.184).
Furthermore, untreated pressure ulcers can lead to more serious conditions such as cellulitis, chronic
infection, sepsis, and possibly death (Lewis et. al, 2014, p.184). Recurrence of pressure ulcers

Creating False Memories Summary
Over the course of an individual s life time, the amount of specific memories encountered is endless.
Because there are so many moments throughout a life span, it can be nearly impossible to remember
them all. The article Creating False Memories written by, E. Loftus, focuses on the idea that therapist
and psychologists can indirectly plant false memories within their patient s thoughts. To begin, this
article opens up with various real life examples of court cases where individuals have sued their
psychologist for planting false memories into their thoughts. Many of these cases resulted in patients
feeling as though they were sexually abused by their closest family members. Many therapists and
psychologists are said to start their meetings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being able to see cases where false memories had the potential to ruin lives, and harm individuals,
it brings more awareness to the severity of the problem at hand. After looking at these individual
cases, it was a helpful transition into learning about the study Loftus and her team were creating to test
this hypothesis. The study that she created went hand in hand with the idea that false memories are
formed most likely when another individual confirms them. For a certain part of this study, her team
claimed to the participants that a relative had confirmed each of the memories placed in front of them,
including the false memory. When an individual feels as though someone close to them has a memory
of something, they tend to see it as real for themselves. That sense of validation is enough for a false
memory to become a reality when sitting in a study. I also believe that the way she interviewed the
college students had an impact on her results. Many of the students claimed they did not recognize the
false memory during the first interview, but recalled it during the second. By having a second
interview, they were exposed to the same memory twice. Sometimes all it takes is having a small
recent memory of something, to make it seem as though you ve known it for a long time. I believe
hearing about the false memory in the first interview, was what made it possible for students to
recognize it the second time

The World Of Global Warming
The eighth Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki moon once said, The clear and present
danger of climate change means we cannot burn our way to prosperity. We already rely too heavily on
fossil fuels. We need to find a new, sustainable path to the future we want. We need a clean industrial
revolution ( Ban Ki moon ). Collectively, we burn fossil fuels without recognition of the repercussions
it has on the environment and our well being. Air pollution causes climate change, shown through the
increase in greenhouse gases, and environmental and health effects. Although global warming is a
relatively newly found epidemic, it has the support of science and should no longer be a topic of
debate.

Although Keeling s research was conducted on carbon dioxide levels, other greenhouse gases have
seen a large increase since the industrial revolution. Water vapor is the most copious greenhouse gas.
Water vapor is only termed as a greenhouse gas for its strong correlation with the average worldwide
temperature. Similar to Earth s temperature, water vapor levels have gradually been increasing,
leading to an increase in precipitation. Another greenhouse gas is methane, a hydrocarbon gas.
Methane levels are heavily influenced by human activities, such as rice cultivation and manure
management. Methane is a deadlier gas to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide is, but carbon dioxide
is more abundant in the atmosphere ( Global Climate Change ). As these greenhouse gases continue to
permeate the atmosphere, they absorb heat normally radiated back toward space and release this heat
to the surface of the Earth.
Air pollution creates a variety of different effects on the environment. Many of air pollution s effects
are visible: the loss of ice on ice caps and the premature flowering of plants and trees. Air pollution
has a great effect on the weather forecast. As stated earlier, the warmer the Earth s surface becomes
the more water vapor is released into the atmosphere, this causes a variation of extreme weather
changes. Climate change affects every region

Music And Its Effect On Society
Music can produce many effects, mental and physical, in listeners and participants. Cultures
throughout history have recognized these effects and used music for healing, productivity, and
socialization. Currently different aspects that affect individuals chemistry, development, and
performance are being studied. The placebo effect, a common mind over matter concept, will be
looked at in its relation to music. The chemistry behind music is not as revolutionary as one might
assume. For simplicity music is stimuli and the body has automatic responses to it. The base response
is the brain stem reacting to the tempo of the music (Chanda and Levitin pg 186). Music increases
blood flow in several regions of the brain, and dopamine bonding which allows for better processing
and more enjoyment (pg 182). When stimulating or fast music was played cortisol levels increased,
and with relaxing music cortisol decreased; cortisol opens pathways used for anti stress and anti
inflammatory processes. Listening to music and singing also increased production of Immunoglobulin
A, an antibody (Chanda and Levitin pg 184). This chemistry is the body preparing itself for action;
this action will be discussed to better explain what is happening when music is listened to. There is
widespread public knowledge of music s effect on the development of children, mentally and
physically. Participating in Physical Education activities paired with music with clear rhythms assists

The Women States in the Early Religion The woman as a divine being and a consolidator of every
belief that adheres to divinity is defined and explained in both Karen Christina Lang s Images of
Women in Early Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism and in Elaine Pagels The Gnostic Gospels. As
analysis of religious beliefs, the works define the religious and cultural relevance of the woman in the
origins of both Buddhism and Gnosticism, as well as the effects that the patriarchal society has
changed in this original belief system. Both literatures assert that the role of the woman in religion
serve the purpose of being the divine or the evidence that Gnosticism is a symbol of the feminine, of
celebrating the woman as the most significant element that created the world view as well as beliefs.
The traditions set forth by both Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism all adhere to the celebration of the
woman, her power, her purity, and her importance in shaping the world, and the men who have to
purposely oblige to this belief and to create the tradition which the community should follow. Hence,
both Lang and Pagels identified that woman, in her own vestal powers, is the main exhibitor of
religious participation as well as the symbol of wisdom in humanity. Lang (1982) defined that women
were subjected as the fall of humanity despite being the original images that women has portrayed
from Buddhist and Gnostic texts: a) woman is

days, don t expect to walk quickly. You will probably have to shuffle for a bit at first due to the limited
mobility and flexibility. Even with this, patients should try to walk as much as possible and pump their
legs to avoid the formation of blood clots.
Limiting activities
Activities are limited to the kinds that don t involve tensing of their abdominal musculature. This
consists of activity like calisthenics or lifting weights and absolutely no jogging or Boot Camp style
workouts. Patients can walk as often as they feel confident and they are allowed to climb stairs. We
suggest that they don t do any rigorous exercises for a full 3 months in order to maintain the internal
corset like impact of the surgery. During the healing process, you want to avoid the unintentional
release of the sutures that tighten the muscles, which could cause a bump in the belly. This might
result in a second surgery for correction.
Pain
Pain could be a recurring problem due to the tightening up of the abdominal musculature that takes
place and also due to the fact that these surgical procedures are usually combined with some kind of
liposuction of the midsection on the love handles and in the back. Usually, patients will get pain in the
front part as well as in the back part of their torso, making it tricky to get into a comfortable position.

Euthanasia In Me Before You, By Jojo Moyes
In the book Me Before You, the author Jojo Moyes chooses to illustrate the importance of euthanasia
as an option for ending your life if unable to live it to it s full potential. Moyes character, William

see the novel as just another story about troubled love, but it has a deeper, underlying message that
Jojo Moyes wishes to express. The author wants to bring up the issue of euthanasia and discuss the
different sides that people may have on it and the fine line between what is right and morally wrong.

Everywhere he looks, he is reminded of the life he used to have and he can t possibly imagine living in
any other way. While it is true that most disabled people still wish to live, Moyes chooses to show the
side of people who do not. Will sees his old friends making new relationships and moving on without
him. This reality truly sets in when his old girlfriend Alicia and his old best friend drop by to give him

and what a disadvantage he is at. Just a simple outing that may have been fun, can turn disastrous
because of his disability, like when his wheelchair got stuck in the mud at the track. By showing the
reader these inconveniences for Will and the people around him , Moyes reveals that even if Will were

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essay
In Achebe s book, Things Fall Apart , the life of a Nigerian man named Okowkwo is depicted. At first
look, it may seem that Okowkwo s story is the main theme of the book, but upon further examination
it is easy to see that the plight of his indigenous Igbo people are the main theme representing what
really fell apart.
Achebe introduces the reader to the intricate culture of the Igbo people from the earliest chapters in
the book. He describes rituals, laws, and religion of these people with great attention to detail allowing
the reader to further understand and identify with the Igbo people on a personal level. An example of
this is the tradition of kola nut and how it is shared when welcoming someone into a home. Achebe

His punishment for this is a seven year exile for his entire family. For the reader this presents as a sign
that things are about to change and that the dynamics of the book are heading in a different direction.
At this point the reader may believe that this is the turning point in the book, but it is merely a sign of
things to come. Achebe also provides readers with another sign of things to come in the destruction of
Abame, a neighboring village located near the village of Okonkwo s exile. A white man arrived at
Abame and was later killed by the people of the Abame village who feared he would bring about the
destruction promised by the Oracle (Achebe, 1994). The destruction of the Abame village is Achebe s
first signal to readers that the people of the Igbo may never be the same. After the destruction of
Abame, missionaries arrive in Mbanta to spread the message of their Christianity bringing along with
them, the English government system (Achebe, 1994). Achebe describes the arrival in such a manner
that the reader can visualize the distinct differences between the two groups of people. The Christians
are visibly more modern with a religious foundation that is extremely different from that of the Igbo
people. They also bring with them laws that function in no way close to the Igbo culture s form of
crime and punishment. When Okonkwo hears this news he feels like

Teenage sexual activity has sparked an outcry within the nation. With such activity comes a high
price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with sexually

Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and occasionally by

There is an important event that happens in every person s life. That important event may be a number

important event in life was the day I conquered my fear of heights. Everyone has some type of fear or
phobia that absolutely petrifies them. Whether it s a fear of snakes, swimming, or even germs, it can
be conquered as I discovered.
That day I overcame my fear of heights took place at Six Flags over Texas. The day started out with

I started feeling confident as I waited in line. Finally the moment arrived where I took my seat on the

The Pros And Cons Of President Grant
President Grant was the United stated 18th president. Many historians have spoken poorly about him,
calling him corrupt and ineffective. Even though many of those historians mention how he was no
good as a president, they never explain how and what he actually did to prove he was corrupt and
ineffective. Although historians such as Thomas A bailey, C.Van Woodward and Arthur Schlesinger
call him ignorant, the all time low point as well as placing him in the among the failures, he was
neither of them all he was doing is what any other president would of done. He was doing what was
best for the country and those historians did not see it that way. Despite the fact that many historians
agree that he was corrupt and ineffective he was neither of them, he was doing what was right for the
country, for the people and he was just doing what every other president has and would of done.
Thomas A bailey said, Grant was an ignorant and confused President, and his eight long years of
blunderland are generally regarded as a national disgrace. Clearly, Bailey was not looking at Grant s
accomplishments in the economic arena when writing this statement. C.Van Woodward described the
years in which Grant was the president as the all time low point in statesmanship and political
morality in our history. Woodward must have forgotten about how Grant held the country together
after the Civil War. Not only that but Arthur Schlesinger placed grant among the failures in his 1948
and 1962 presidential ratings.Historians should judge people in the context of their times, not before

Pythagoras of Samos was born back in 570 BC (Before Christ) on the island of Samos, Greece. Little

his family matters. Many people just have theories based on how he lived away from mathematics.

student accidentally drops the ruler, hoping the teacher will not notice, fearing he will be beaten.
However, the teacher sees it and paddles the student five times. The student now has severe bruising
on his bottom just for dropping a ruler. This is not how it should be. Thirty nine states have banned
corporal punishment because it is dangerous in schools and not a suitable punishment for

it creates an unsafe environment, and it has a lasting impact on kids. Corporal punishment should not
be allowed in schools because it promotes violence. Many students have been beaten by their teachers

Racism In Cry The Beloved Country
Luke 6:35 declares, But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and
your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and

Unfortunately, society fails to follow this verse in the present times as well as the past. Not only does
racism and prejudice occur in the United States, but South Africa as well. Alan Paton illustrated the
unjust in the novel Cry the Beloved Country. James Jarvis is a white, wealthy, Christian farmer that

Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman By Arthur Miller
Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller
1245 Words 5 Pages
Death of A Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, is a play based on the turmoil within an average
American family. Miller wrote Death of A Salesman easily showcasing the elements of drama. I was
easily able to follow the plot, identify with his characters, and picture the setting.
The main theme of the plot seemed to be Willy reaching for the American Dream . Financial success,
business success, outwardly perfect family, revered by your peers, and in general respected by all.
Early on in the play two things are evident to the reader; Willy s questionable mental status, and his
tumultuous relationship with his sons.
Willy is apparently suffering from some sort of mental or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wagner s. He is also unable to come to terms with his own advancing years as a salesman. He only
goes to Mr. Wagner to ask for a job strictly in New York when Linda insists. What he sees as valuable
experience others see as obsolete. Willy longs for the days when the boys revered him and they were
pals.
Scott Foll states the driving point of plot is conflict (1182). This play definitely has the ultimate
conflict. That is simply, family. Conflict with Willy and Biff, Willy with himself, and Linda with her
sons. For me the turning climactic point is when while talking with Ben, Willy believes he can regain
what he lost years ago with Biff by ending his life. He thinks the twenty thousand from the insurance
money will fix it all. I suppose the resolution in this play was Willy s death. Although I do not imagine
this could truly be resolution for the remaining family.
Characterization seemed to be the most well developed element of the play. The patriarch of the
family, Willy Loman was portrayed as the tragic hero. I believe his character did indeed possess some
character flaws that inevitably led to his death. However, I agree with the character summary written
in Spark Notes that Willy never achieved the self realization or self knowledge to be labeled a true
tragic hero (Miller). He never fully realizes is personal failures, even with his death. His pride

U.s. Economy Gains And Jobs
Article 6 U.S. Economy Gains 215,000 Jobs in March The anecdotal explanation for the American
economy for years has been that the number of jobs have increased but wages have not grown as
rapidly. This held true again on Friday, April 1, 2016 as 215,000 jobs were added to the US economy.
Because this amount exceeded the predicted 199,000 jobs, this gain was considered a healthy one.
According to Jim O Sullivan, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics, wages grew a
minuscular 2.3% compared to last year s statistics. In the last two years, O Sullivan states that millions
of jobs have been added to the economy but wages have not followed. Typically, an increase in the
number of jobs will result in an increase in wages. March s wage growth is especially disappointing as
wage growth had reached 2.6% last year, only to fall to 2.3% this year. U.S. Deputy Secretary of
Labor Chris Lu believes that Wages are the unfinished business of the recovery. Clearly we need to do
more on that front. The unemployment rate rose from 4.9% to 5%. This is usually indicative of the
return of employees to the job market. This is a positive sign. In part, the second rate wage growth is
due to the number of employees seeking full time employment but can only secure part time
employment. Involuntary part timers increase slightly in March from 6 million to 6.1 million. This
explains the high underemployment. Underemployment is derived by combining unemployment

Exporting Anti-Gay Ideology
Exporting Ideology A series of events have been set in motion globally to thwart the progress of one
of the most consequential cultural shifts in human history. The gay rights movement, particularly in
the Western World, has made progress at an exponential rate and has remained a contentious source of
argument in the contemporary social and political landscape. Although significant strides have been
made, right wing religious groups have taken ideologically charged action both legislatively and
rhetorically. In a collection of Eastern European and African countries, anti gay legislation and
sentiment has garnered support from regional governmental factions and right wing religious
coalitions. The force driving these anti gay initiatives are not at the behest of the citizenry of each
respective region, but by American forces that until recently have been working in the shadows in
their proxy war against the gay rights movement. American evangelical groups have been operating
with collaborators abroad in order to preserve their notion of natural and traditional values. Most
notably, a series of anti gay propaganda and anti gay adoption laws have been enacted in Russia by
national legislators and American activists. The American right wing evangelical coalition has had
tremendous influence on the Russian anti gay movement legislatively and politically over the course
of the last decade. The goals of these American activists have not spawned out of the ether, but are

The Importance Of Birth Order And Its Effect On Leadership
Introduction
Some people have always assumed that the oldest child is a natural leader. In that same fashion, some
people feel the youngest child most often grows up a follower and remains a follower in adulthood.
There s some research to support these assumptions that birth order can determine how one leads. This
paper will examine the importance of birth order and its effect on leadership.
So, what is birth order? The term birth order refers to the rank of siblings by age. Birth order is
believed to have significant and lasting psychological effects on an individual. The effects of birth
order on the overall development of a person have continued to have an existence in both personal and
professional life. What is personality? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the second child, the parents tend to be less attentive thus leading the child be more of a people
pleaser and diplomatic (Connor, 2007) thus creating a follower style type. The last born child is
thought as rebellious and displays a spoiled attitude not typically a leadership trait. As the family size
increases, the parental resources are divided more sparsely among all children. Many factors such as
birth order, siblings, genes and circumstances all unquestionably play a greater role in the
development of a child s personality (Healey, 2007) thus impacting the type of leader displayed.
According to Healey (2007), parents get excited about their first born child and tend to be
overprotective, pay more attention, investments and high expectations on the child. It is
understandable that parents may be able to expend more resources on the first born, especially in
smaller families if there is a gap between the other siblings. Gordman s research (2008) supports the
previously mentioned statements by showing the effect birth order has on educational attainment.
Gordman (2008) confirms Grinberg s (2015) statements regarding the possibility that more resources
are reserved for the first born. This research further proves that the first born has better resources and
informal support to help increase the chances of being successful. For this paper, success is

think literally, that the East side and West side meets. The theme is in other words that the West culture
meets the East culture. Around fifty years ago it was not normal to have two cultures in one street,
other cultures that came in the west was not allowed, even tho we have come a far way from where we
were fifty years ago, there is still a lot to do. That shows in this movie because this movie is relevant

Lake s Healing Room Ministry Essay
Once he returned to the United States, he remarried, and began a traveling ministry. One of the places
he was asked to speak was Spokane, Washington. He was asked to start a healings room, and he
agreed. Over an approximately five year period, over 100,000 healings were reported. Spokane was
declared the healthiest city in the United States . Although Lake s church was never large, thousands
came from all over the country and the world to receive prayer. In 1920, he felt called to move to
Portland, Oregon and start a healing room ministry there. Similar healings were reported during these
years as well. Lake started a healing rooms ministry on the West Coast. His strength was becoming

Seeing the power of God, Lake began to cry out for more of the Holy Spirit. He spent nine months
seeking a fuller level of the presence of God. Lake went, with another man to pray for a sick woman.
God s presence fell on and over him like he d never known before. The next six months were marked
by conviction, repentance, and heart cleansing. The gifts of the Spirit became magnified, and the
discernment and healing giftings increased dramatically. Lake was receiving training under John
Alexander Dowie, but did not always agree with his way of doing things. At one point, Dowie listed
his accomplishments and told him If you ever develop constructive qualities, equal to your critical
capacity, you will be a greater man than I am. John Lake knew that he would have to start his own
work. He felt called to Africa and went there in 1908, after a short term pastoring stint in Indianapolis.
Over a five year period in South Africa Lake saw 1,000,000 converts, planted hundreds of churches,
and raised up over 1000 local ministers. The work was vigorous, however, and his wife died in
December 1908. He committed to keep his family together. In 1913 Lake returned to the United
States, with his seven

  • 2. Implementing A New Communication Record For Tracking... Assessment of Problem: Clearly describe the problem in your work unit and your plan to solve the problem. The problem within the work unit is that we tend to be complacent and sees things as they are and not as they could be. The Agency s mission is To responsibly provide access to quality health coverage for vulnerable Mississippians. In order to accurately carry out this mission, the Office of Appeals needs to aggressively keep up with advances in technology (i.e. computer application and software), and eagerly embrace new found ways of ensuring that our clients receive information and assistance as quick and efficiently as possible. My plan to solve this problem is to create, and then recommend implementing a new communication record for tracking beneficiaries and clients request for a state eligibility hearing. Each record will be assigned an appeal number that would allow us to track the case from receipt through resolution. To date, the Office of Appeals is utilizing an Excel spreadsheet to record and track incoming requests (See Attachment I). The spreadsheet displays data in text and numbers, which allows sorting and calculations. The problem with the spreadsheet is it does not effectively provide electronic tracking of incoming eligibility appeal requests from the Agency s thirty (30) regional offices. Also, the problem is that the spreadsheet does not allow space for more specific data to be entered that is considered pertinent to the case (See Attachment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Kay Redfield Jamison s Life Kay Redfield Jamison was born on June 22, 1946 in the United States of America. She received her Bachelors and Masters in the University of California, also known as UCLA. After accomplishing these goals, she set out to acquire her Ph.D., which she did, also at UCLA in the year 1975. UCLA is significant for a number of reasons. Upon completing her degrees, she began to work there as an assistant professor and then rose to the rank of associate professor. Though she was an associate professor of psychiatry in 1981, she made a significant impact by establishing the Affective Disorders Clinic at her alma mater in the year of 77. Her experience as an associate professor in psychiatry helped her gain a significant position at John Hopkins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, she was recognized for her work with the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression in 2007. Included with her awards was the title of Hero of Medicine by Time magazine in 1997. Throughout this time of awards and accreditation, she also took the role of co director of the Mood Disorders Center since the year 2005. In addition to her professional standing at Johns Hopkins, she also frequently travels to Scotland where she works at the University of St. Andrews as a professor of English and Neurophysiology. Given her accreditation and awards for her work in her community, as well as her literature, it is easy to see why she continues to make an impact in her field. Throughout her college career, and thereafter, she has made monumental influences in the lives of others through her research. Moreover, her knowledge of those who have disorders helps people understand that she truly does know what they are going through. Jamison was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she was 28 years old. Not only does this allow her to empathize with others by allowing her to walk in the same shoes as them, she is still able to perform her duties as a psychologist. Not only does she understand others with bipolar disorder, she understands how she affects others with her disorder. Some may think that by outing herself as having a mood disorder, she may have hindered her career. In fact, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Madonna Of Stairs Known as one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, Michelangelo was born on March 6th, 1475 to a noble family in Florentine, Italy. At the age of only 13, Michelangelo was apprenticed to Domenico Ghirlandaio, and placed him in a studio to learn the fundamentals of art. He only worked there for about a year after Lorenzo de Medici invited him to his home to work as an artist for them. One of the most renowned work from his teen years was the marble sculpture called The Madonna of Stairs , which was famous for the muscle that he applied to the art. After the death of Lorenzo the Magnificent, Michelangelo traveled to many places, one of them being Rome during the time of Pope Alexander VI. In 1498, he was commissioned to ... • 5. Religion In The Decameron Religion Boccaccio also infused The Decameron with his opinions on the Catholic church, which even at that time was Italy s primary religious institution. Catholicism may have been popular, but Boccaccio was very blatant in showing that he did not approve of the Church s conduct. In The Decameron, religion was practiced by fools, the church was a breeding ground for mischief, and marriage was a transaction devoid of meaning. Perhaps the most foolish characters readers could come across in The Decameron were Friar Alberto and Monna Lisetta. Boccaccio masterfully parodied the Church by introducing Friar Alberto as a former con man who moved to Venice and became a priest: already, Boccaccio has criticized the vetting process for potential religious officials. Monna Lisetta, the next character introduced, is a vain, airheaded devotee of the angel Gabriel. By having these silly characters meet in a religious setting, Boccaccio mocked the Catholics of his day, especially once Friar Alberto used his credibility as a man of God to trick the gullible Monna Lisetta into having sex with Gabriel, who would be possessing the friar s own body. Boccaccio could hardly be more derisive toward the Church than with this tragic story. But Friar Alberto and Monna Lisetta were not Boccaccio s only example of mischief that had its roots in a church: the wife of Pietro di Vinciolo essentially asked a friend to arrange extramarital liaisons for her in exchange for a piece of jerky. • 6. Organized Crime In The 1800s Organized crime has been present in the history of the United States and can be traced back to the streets of the early 1800 s. Organized crime occurs when a group of people congregate together and plan to commit a series of crimes to make money, usually illegally. Organized crime groups have evolved over time from small rackets to grand organizations like the Italian Mafia. Crime particularly began to become prominent in urban areas during the prohibition. Organized crime is still just as visible today as it was back in the early 1800 s. The first successful organized crime group was the Forty Thieves of New York. • 10. Essay about Loyalty by Yulia Drunina Aldous Huxley once said, One of the great attractions of patriotism it fulfills our worst wishes. In the person of our nation we are able, vicariously, to bully and cheat. Bully and cheat, what s more, with a feeling that we are profoundly virtuous (Huxley, 2013). Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is about her devotion to her motherland Russia. Yulia Drunina is a Russian poem writer that writes a lot of her poems about Russia. Yulia wrote the poem Loyalty to describe her love for her dying motherland. This poem s meaning is that Yulia loves Russia so much that she will never forget about it and go wherever it goes. The speaker of the poem is Yulia Drunina. She grew up in the U.S.S.R and wrote the poem Loyalty . She loves the old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem has some examples of alliteration. Yulia wants to get her point across and she wants to emphasize it. So she uses alliteration to get it across. For example, Yulia wrote, Maybe you ll meet some girl, / More lovely, more wise, or more dear. She repeats more often and this gives the feeling of how much more she thinks her country will find some other type of person that is more important to itself (Drunina, 1946). Metaphors play a huge part in explaining how Russia made Yulia feel. It gives us the mood or feel of the place. An example would be, Your tranquil pines, and such things / As the nocturnal Pakhra flows, as Yulia wrote (Drunina, 1946). This comparison refers to the peacefulness of the U.S.S.R and gives the image of it being quiet and peaceful. The reader can now imagine a quiet area where there is not a single bother in the world with this metaphor. Yulia had some examples of symbolism in her poem. Yulia wrote As the nocturnal Pakhra flows (Drunina, 1946). She uses a real river in Russia to symbolise the tranquility of her home. The river is a calm force running downstream, so it can symbolise calmness. Readers now get the image of calmness from just reading that and that is what Yulia intended to do. Yulia Drunina s poem Loyalty is a great poem about the U.S.S.R. Yulia wrote this poem to explain and express her feelings about her old home which is the U.S.S.R. She was expressing how ... • 11. Adolf Hitler Rises to Power in Europe While the U.S.... The instability created in Europe by World War I set the stage for another international conflict World War II, which broke out two decades later and proved to be even more devastating. Rising to power in an unstable country, Germany, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party had ambitions of world domination. Hitler s invasion of Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany, and World War II had begun. Over the next six years, the conflict would take more lives and destroy more land and property around the globe than any previous war with estimated 45 60 million casualties (Stevenson). The use of the Navajo language to create a code during World War II was the idea of Philip Johnston, the son of William and Margaret Johnston who were Protestant missionaries to the Navajo (Holm 71). Johnston was born and raised in the reservation; he was also the one of very few Americans who could speak the Navajo language precisely (Aaseng 17). In February of 1942, Johnston was able to present the language to the commanders of the Marine Corps and the idea impressed them, so that they allowed Johnston to start a Navajo Code Talker Test Program. Later in April, Johnston and the Marine Corps commanders went to the reservation and recruited thirty men (Aaseng 23). The men that were recruited marked the start of the pilot program. Of the first thirty men who joined the program, only twenty nine completed it and went to help the war effort. The two men that had dropped out were not qualified for service as code talkers for the Marine Corps (Paul 75). This group of the twenty nine Navajo men came to be called the original twenty nine. The Navajo men that were recruited often lacked birth certificates so it was impossible for the Marine Corps to verify ages, but after the war it was discovered that some recruits were as young as fifteen and some were as old as thirty five (Paul 14). • 12. Essay On The Emancipation Proclamation In April of 1865, the President of the United States was shot in the back of the head in the middle of a crowded theater. The audience panicked, the assassin made his escape, and the unconscious president was carried to a cramped bedroom in a house across the street from Ford s Theatre. A few hours later, Abraham Lincoln died. For the first time in the nation s history, a president had been assassinated. But it was only one of the dramatic changes that shaped the United States in 1865. Four years of civil war by far the single bloodiest conflict in American history finally drew to a close. The Union Army victorious, politicians now faced the question of how to reunite a shattered nation. And still, another change was emerging one that would not be decided by violence and bloodshed, but that would have just as dramatic an effect in redefining America s social, political, and economic life. The time had finally come to address America s original sin the legal question of slavery s abolition would finally be resolved. Two years previously, on January 1, 1863, President Lincoln issued what we now call the Emancipation Proclamation. Through this executive order, every enslaved person living in areas controlled by the Confederacy was now, legally, freed. Though this action would earn Lincoln noble nicknames like The Liberator and The Great Emancipator, the legal repercussions of the act were ambiguous at best. Many questioned the president s authority to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. A Survey Of The New Testament A Survey of the New Testament The New Testament is defined as part of the Bible concerned with the life and teachings of Christ and his earliest followers (American Century Dictionary 387). The Son of God comes to Earth to save us from our sins and to teach us a new way of serving the Lord. Animal sacrifice is done away with because Jesus died for our sins as a perfect sacrifice and his sacrifice is everlasting. Jesus explained, for God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved (John 3.17). This collection consists of twenty seven books, in which I will break down into five sections. First are the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the book of Acts, which is commonly classified as a book of history. Next are the epistles of Paul which are the book of Romans through Philemon, the general epistles of Hebrews through Jude, and the prophecy book of Revelation. 1. The Gospels The book of Matthew provides a detailed account of the life of Jesus and establishes that Jesus Christ is the Messiah who fulfills the Old Testament prophesies (Wiersbe 627). The author Matthew is primarily aiming his writings at the Jews to let them know that he is the savior who is referred to several times in the Old Testament (Isiah 7:14, 53:5, 53:12). This book is also the longest of the four gospels having twenty eight chapters. Mark is the shortest of the four gospels having 16 chapters, but is equally important as the ... Her journey had several stops along the way and consisted of days and days of traveling in the harshest conditions. OPERATING SYSTEM STRUCTURE The operating system can be defined as a collection of written procedures, linked together into a single large executable binary program. The most useful and better approach is divide the task into small components /modules instead of having one monolithic system so that the operating system can function properly and can be modified easily. Input, output and functions should be clearly defined in each of the system modules as far as we can finally come with large and complex system. Simple structure, layered structure, microkernel, client server systems and virtual machines are among different structures of operating system. 1.Simple Structure Well defined structures are very important in operating systems. Scope, functionality and well designed modules are main factor to consider to make sure the system will satisfy user needs and provides a good service to users.MS DOS is a good example of Simple structure because of its history which starts with small, simple and limited system that did not consider about the number of users and possibility of become popular operating system that can be able to accommodate as many users as possible.MS DOS do not consider the matter of separation between the interfaces and levels of functionality. The quantity of received capital of a company report in their financial statements demonstrates to the stockholders the real cost of their assets. Once we got out of my familiar range of York my mind drifted off the anticipation but it still stayed close behind. The music coming from the car was blurred from my lack of attention to it. The sound of my dad s voice on another business call coming from the front was also put to the side as all my attention was tentatively directed to my phone. Scrolling through feeds and games the log eternity of the car ride drew more intense. Though it was only an hour or two, boredom set in unusually fast. • 21. Sustainability And Discredit Arguments For Space Exploration I am writing this paper to claim that space exploration is a huge waste of resources and we should focus our efforts on the sustainability of the Earth. I plan to explore the benefits of sustainability and discredit arguments for space exploration. Sustainability is the more realistic and feasible choice. A very popular argument for space exploration is to protect our Earth that we have managed to almost destroy, by finding another planet to retreat to. Many people believe the only option is to spend billions of dollars, that we do not necessarily have, into space exploration. It is said that there are Earth like planets that would potentially be able to support life. People believe space exploration is necessary for long term survival. It is a popular concept that something drastic will happen to Earth, weather it be caused by man or natural disaster. Basic facts state that if we continue treating Earth the way we do, Earth will not be able to support human life and will be rendered uninhabitable. With the information that I and billions of other believe to be legitimate many people jump to space exploration as the only answer. A popular concept is terraforming. Terraforming is the process of transforming a hostile environment into one suitable for human life. Being that Mars is the most Earth like planet in our solar system, it is the best candidate for terraforming. It is believed that terraforming any planet would take centuries for just the initial steps, and much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Laura and Julius lived next door to their brother, Robert Orsini, for over forty years. Their sister, Diane, lived on the other side of Robert. Julius and Robert were very close and visited each other daily. Robert handled Julius s financial and business matters. On May 25, 2006, Laura and Julius executed identical wills leaving their estates to each other and then to their relatives. These wills were very specific about the percentages of bequests to each branch of the family. Each will also provided for a bequest to Julius s friend Gene Rosato. Laura Impressa died in September 2008, leaving her entire estate to Julius. The testimony indicates that, after Laura s death, Robert [*12] Orsini began to tell other family members that he felt the 2006 Will was unfair to his family. • 23. Best Evidence Based Practice Of Prevention And Management... Best Evidence Based Practice of Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers Evidence based practice is a process involving the examination and application of research findings or other reliable evidence that has been integrated with scientific theories and taking into consideration the patient s preferences and values (Schmidt Brown, 2015, p.4). It is constructed from the three components of patient preferences, clinical judgment or expertise, and the best available evidence (Schmidt Brown, 2015). Evidence based practice is an important tool to provide the highest quality of patient care, improve patient outcomes, and reduce patient care costs (Schmidt Brown, 2015). Pressure ulcers, also known as pressure sores, bedsores, and decubitus ulcers, result from pressure or shear friction and pressure that cause skin and underlying tissue to breakdown (Pamaiahgari, 2014, p.1). This is commonly seen over bony prominences such as the sacrum or the heel. Pressure ulcers prove to be an issue for the patient and require the determination of best practice to prevent the pressure ulcer and the complications that can accompany it. Pressure ulcers can be infected, increase in size, odor, and drainage, have necrotic tissue, be indurated, warm, and painful (Lewis et. al, 2014, p.184). Furthermore, untreated pressure ulcers can lead to more serious conditions such as cellulitis, chronic infection, sepsis, and possibly death (Lewis et. al, 2014, p.184). Because there are so many moments throughout a life span, it can be nearly impossible to remember them all. The article Creating False Memories written by, E. Loftus, focuses on the idea that therapist and psychologists can indirectly plant false memories within their patient s thoughts. To begin, this article opens up with various real life examples of court cases where individuals have sued their psychologist for planting false memories into their thoughts. Many of these cases resulted in patients feeling as though they were sexually abused by their closest family members. Many therapists and psychologists are said to start their meetings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By being able to see cases where false memories had the potential to ruin lives, and harm individuals, it brings more awareness to the severity of the problem at hand. After looking at these individual cases, it was a helpful transition into learning about the study Loftus and her team were creating to test this hypothesis. The study that she created went hand in hand with the idea that false memories are formed most likely when another individual confirms them. For a certain part of this study, her team claimed to the participants that a relative had confirmed each of the memories placed in front of them, including the false memory. When an individual feels as though someone close to them has a memory of something, they tend to see it as real for themselves. That sense of validation is enough for a false memory to become a reality when sitting in a study. I also believe that the way she interviewed the college students had an impact on her results. Many of the students claimed they did not recognize the false memory during the first interview, but recalled it during the second. By having a second interview, they were exposed to the same memory twice. Sometimes all it takes is having a small recent memory of something, to make it seem as though you ve known it for a long time. I believe hearing about the false memory in the first interview, was what made it possible for students to recognize it the second time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Keeling s research was conducted on carbon dioxide levels, other greenhouse gases have seen a large increase since the industrial revolution. Water vapor is the most copious greenhouse gas. Water vapor is only termed as a greenhouse gas for its strong correlation with the average worldwide temperature. Similar to Earth s temperature, water vapor levels have gradually been increasing, leading to an increase in precipitation. Another greenhouse gas is methane, a hydrocarbon gas. Methane levels are heavily influenced by human activities, such as rice cultivation and manure management. Methane is a deadlier gas to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide is, but carbon dioxide is more abundant in the atmosphere ( Global Climate Change ). As these greenhouse gases continue to permeate the atmosphere, they absorb heat normally radiated back toward space and release this heat to the surface of the Earth. Air pollution creates a variety of different effects on the environment. Many of air pollution s effects are visible: the loss of ice on ice caps and the premature flowering of plants and trees. • 27. Music And Its Effect On Society Music can produce many effects, mental and physical, in listeners and participants. Cultures throughout history have recognized these effects and used music for healing, productivity, and socialization. Currently different aspects that affect individuals chemistry, development, and performance are being studied. The placebo effect, a common mind over matter concept, will be looked at in its relation to music. The chemistry behind music is not as revolutionary as one might assume. For simplicity music is stimuli and the body has automatic responses to it. The base response is the brain stem reacting to the tempo of the music (Chanda and Levitin pg 186). Music increases blood flow in several regions of the brain, and dopamine bonding which allows for better processing and more enjoyment (pg 182). When stimulating or fast music was played cortisol levels increased, and with relaxing music cortisol decreased; cortisol opens pathways used for anti stress and anti inflammatory processes. Listening to music and singing also increased production of Immunoglobulin A, an antibody (Chanda and Levitin pg 184). This chemistry is the body preparing itself for action; this action will be discussed to better explain what is happening when music is listened to. The Women Of The Early Religion Ruiwen Chu Paul Tchir 10811862 Assignment 2 Nov 2, 2015 The Women States in the Early Religion The woman as a divine being and a consolidator of every belief that adheres to divinity is defined and explained in both Karen Christina Lang s Images of Women in Early Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism and in Elaine Pagels The Gnostic Gospels. As analysis of religious beliefs, the works define the religious and cultural relevance of the woman in the origins of both Buddhism and Gnosticism, as well as the effects that the patriarchal society has changed in this original belief system. Both literatures assert that the role of the woman in religion serve the purpose of being the divine or the evidence that Gnosticism is a symbol of the feminine, of celebrating the woman as the most significant element that created the world view as well as beliefs. The traditions set forth by both Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism all adhere to the celebration of the woman, her power, her purity, and her importance in shaping the world, and the men who have to purposely oblige to this belief and to create the tradition which the community should follow. Hence, both Lang and Pagels identified that woman, in her own vestal powers, is the main exhibitor of religious participation as well as the symbol of wisdom in humanity. Even though many of those historians mention how he was no good as a president, they never explain how and what he actually did to prove he was corrupt and ineffective. Although historians such as Thomas A bailey, C.Van Woodward and Arthur Schlesinger call him ignorant, the all time low point as well as placing him in the among the failures, he was neither of them all he was doing is what any other president would of done. He was doing what was best for the country and those historians did not see it that way. Despite the fact that many historians agree that he was corrupt and ineffective he was neither of them, he was doing what was right for the country, for the people and he was just doing what every other president has and would of done. Thomas A bailey said, Grant was an ignorant and confused President, and his eight long years of blunderland are generally regarded as a national disgrace. Clearly, Bailey was not looking at Grant s accomplishments in the economic arena when writing this statement. C.Van Woodward described the years in which Grant was the president as the all time low point in statesmanship and political morality in our history. Woodward must have forgotten about how Grant held the country together after the Civil War. Not only that but Arthur Schlesinger placed grant among the failures in his 1948 and 1962 presidential ratings.Historians should judge people in the context of their times, not before nor after. All of these three historians missjudged Grant, because they judged him by how president are now not how they used to be.All that grant was doing was putting the people and the country first to help evolutionate Historians such as Bailey and Woodward believed that president Grant was corrupt. The time that Grant was in office he did as any other president would of done, and in this case he was not responsible for the corruption which occurred during the years he was in office. Pythagoras of Samos was born back in 570 BC (Before Christ) on the island of Samos, Greece. Little did his parents, Mnesarchus and Pythias know that he would eventually be seen as the first pure mathematician. Young Pythagoras was not the only child in his family, or only boy for that matter, it is believed that he did have 2 or 3 brothers. Not much is known of his personal life at home along with his family matters. Many people just have theories based on how he lived away from mathematics. For example, some believe he was married and had a child that would eventually be a teacher, and others believe he never married anyone and the lady he was believed to be married to was just his student. Aside from his personal life at home, much is known about his life in education. (1) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knew poetry very well and recited Homer. One student accidentally drops the ruler, hoping the teacher will not notice, fearing he will be beaten. However, the teacher sees it and paddles the student five times. The student now has severe bruising on his bottom just for dropping a ruler. This is not how it should be. Thirty nine states have banned corporal punishment because it is dangerous in schools and not a suitable punishment for students(Morin). Corporal Punishment should not be allowed in schools because it promotes violence, it creates an unsafe environment, and it has a lasting impact on kids. Corporal punishment should not be allowed in schools because it promotes violence. Many students have been beaten by their teachers for doing something negative in school, and have gotten the message that violence is a good thing. The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated some examples of this in the article Should Corporal Punishment Be Used in K 12 Schools .They explained that Children who experience corporal punishment are more likely to hit or use violence against people to get their way. (Procon.com) This example shows that schools that use corporal punishment, teach that it is ok to use violence to get what students want. Students who see or experience corporal punishment get the message that violence is necessary to get their way. In other words, when those kids are out in the real world, they can not ... Unfortunately, society fails to follow this verse in the present times as well as the past. Not only does racism and prejudice occur in the United States, but South Africa as well. After researching Jeb on his political stance in running for President of 2016, I have soon discovered that he fell into the category as, another Bush . I do not agree with some of his standing issues, mainly his insight on education. The common core curriculum is a horrible learning formula for our children. As an adult and knowing how my education experience was growing up through school, and looking at how my children are being forced to learn common core, makes my job as a parent even more difficult. I struggle day in and day out, trying to wrap my head around the way my children are learning at school, so I am able to offer the support they need at home while completing their homework assignments. When I have to look at my children and say, I m sorry, mom will not be able to help explain this to you because I just don t understand how you are being taught , just breaks my heart as a parent. Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman By Arthur Miller Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller 1245 Words 5 Pages Death of A Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, is a play based on the turmoil within an average American family. Miller wrote Death of A Salesman easily showcasing the elements of drama. I was easily able to follow the plot, identify with his characters, and picture the setting. The main theme of the plot seemed to be Willy reaching for the American Dream . Financial success, business success, outwardly perfect family, revered by your peers, and in general respected by all. Early on in the play two things are evident to the reader; Willy s questionable mental status, and his tumultuous relationship with his sons. That is simply, family. Conflict with Willy and Biff, Willy with himself, and Linda with her sons. For me the turning climactic point is when while talking with Ben, Willy believes he can regain what he lost years ago with Biff by ending his life. He thinks the twenty thousand from the insurance money will fix it all. I suppose the resolution in this play was Willy s death. Although I do not imagine this could truly be resolution for the remaining family. Characterization seemed to be the most well developed element of the play. The patriarch of the family, Willy Loman was portrayed as the tragic hero. I believe his character did indeed possess some character flaws that inevitably led to his death. However, I agree with the character summary written in Spark Notes that Willy never achieved the self realization or self knowledge to be labeled a true tragic hero (Miller). He never fully realizes is personal failures, even with his death. His pride ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. U.s. Economy Gains And Jobs Article 6 U.S. Economy Gains 215,000 Jobs in March The anecdotal explanation for the American economy for years has been that the number of jobs have increased but wages have not grown as rapidly. This held true again on Friday, April 1, 2016 as 215,000 jobs were added to the US economy. Because this amount exceeded the predicted 199,000 jobs, this gain was considered a healthy one. According to Jim O Sullivan, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics, wages grew a minuscular 2.3% compared to last year s statistics. In the last two years, O Sullivan states that millions of jobs have been added to the economy but wages have not followed. Typically, an increase in the number of jobs will result in an increase in wages. March s wage growth is especially disappointing as wage growth had reached 2.6% last year, only to fall to 2.3% this year. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Labor Chris Lu believes that Wages are the unfinished business of the recovery. Clearly we need to do more on that front. The unemployment rate rose from 4.9% to 5%. This is usually indicative of the return of employees to the job market. This is a positive sign. In part, the second rate wage growth is due to the number of employees seeking full time employment but can only secure part time employment. Involuntary part timers increase slightly in March from 6 million to 6.1 million. This explains the high underemployment. Underemployment is derived by combining unemployment ... The gay rights movement, particularly in the Western World, has made progress at an exponential rate and has remained a contentious source of argument in the contemporary social and political landscape. Although significant strides have been made, right wing religious groups have taken ideologically charged action both legislatively and rhetorically. In a collection of Eastern European and African countries, anti gay legislation and sentiment has garnered support from regional governmental factions and right wing religious coalitions. The force driving these anti gay initiatives are not at the behest of the citizenry of each respective region, but by American forces that until recently have been working in the shadows in their proxy war against the gay rights movement. American evangelical groups have been operating with collaborators abroad in order to preserve their notion of natural and traditional values. Most notably, a series of anti gay propaganda and anti gay adoption laws have been enacted in Russia by national legislators and American activists. • 46. The Importance Of Birth Order And Its Effect On Leadership Introduction Some people have always assumed that the oldest child is a natural leader. In that same fashion, some people feel the youngest child most often grows up a follower and remains a follower in adulthood. There s some research to support these assumptions that birth order can determine how one leads. This paper will examine the importance of birth order and its effect on leadership. So, what is birth order? The term birth order refers to the rank of siblings by age. Birth order is believed to have significant and lasting psychological effects on an individual. With the second child, the parents tend to be less attentive thus leading the child be more of a people pleaser and diplomatic (Connor, 2007) thus creating a follower style type. The last born child is thought as rebellious and displays a spoiled attitude not typically a leadership trait. As the family size increases, the parental resources are divided more sparsely among all children. Many factors such as birth order, siblings, genes and circumstances all unquestionably play a greater role in the development of a child s personality (Healey, 2007) thus impacting the type of leader displayed. According to Healey (2007), parents get excited about their first born child and tend to be overprotective, pay more attention, investments and high expectations on the child. It is understandable that parents may be able to expend more resources on the first born, especially in smaller families if there is a gap between the other siblings. Gordman s research (2008) supports the previously mentioned statements by showing the effect birth order has on educational attainment. Gordman (2008) confirms Grinberg s (2015) statements regarding the possibility that more resources are reserved for the first born. This research further proves that the first born has better resources and informal support to help increase the chances of being successful. For this paper, success is ...
