Handwriting Recognition Essay
The one feature that got the most attention and strongly influenced its demise was its handwriting
recognition capability. In all message pads, handwriting recognition was the basis of data input to
many of the built in applications and functions. According to Professor Luckie, this handwriting
recognition depends solely on Paragraph International Inc. s Calligrapher recognition engine.
Calligrapher technology was limited by the dictionary of words to which it has access (Luckie, n.d.).
This shows that if you write a word that doesn t exist in the dictionary, then Calligrapher is not going
to recognize it correctly and often suggests funny but incorrect phrases as the user wrote.
Even though the limitation of the Calligrapher recognition partly contributed to the demise of
MessagePad, Apple was able to rescue Newton during the release of the second generation OS
(Newton 2.0 OS). This software brought the MessagePad back to the technology it was intended to be
by introducing the new printed handwriting recognition engine. Professor Luckie, in his website that
documents the evolution of Newton OS describes how the engineers at Apple had developed a letter
by letter handwriting reorganizer that could only recognize printed text (Luckie, n.d.). The printed text
recognizer in OS 2.0 requires no dictionary or handwriting learning period. It only requires separated
printed characters to analyze.
Both handwriting recognition engines were innovative systems that adapted to the

Hannah Carpenter Advertising
Abby Hulsey Mrs. Dauphin Pre AP English 10 03 March 2017 Hannah Carpenter was a victim of
advertising. Resulting from the unrealistic beauty standards promoted by advertisements she saw
every day, she was never proud of her own body. And tragically, at only eighteen years of age, she
committed suicide. Sadly, Hannah was not alone in the pressures she felt about not being perfect like
the models she saw on television. In fact, teenagers and children nationwide are being influenced by
advertising in negative ways. Advertisements are promoting flawlessness in women that does not
exist, unhealthy eating habits, and the idea that happiness must be bought. Teenagers feel self
conscious about their bodies because of advertising. The average ... Show more content on

In fact, a recent study on materialism said, children who watch a lot of commercials attach more value
to money and things, and, ...believe that happiness can be bought (Opree). Children are more
susceptible to being influenced by the advertisements they see. Therefore, advertisements aimed at
adolescents often feature expensive toys and brands that appeal to children and cause them to want to
purchase the items. The children also examine how delighted the people in the advertisements look
with the products, and that makes them believe that they must buy their happiness. Another study
shows that people will, ...establish buying habits they will carry into adulthood (Day, Nancy).
Basically, when children identify advertisements for popular items, they will begin to purchase the
items and become loyal to those brands. These could be expensive brands that will influence their
other purchases, making them think that if one item they purchase is expensive, then their other
purchases must be expensive as well. Wanting their lives to be on the level of the expensive brands
they own, consumers are becoming more and more materialistic. While there are some positive things
about advertising, the negatives are far more destructive. Due to advertising, girls and women are
being objectified, unhealthy eating habits are being promoted, and materialism

Sweatshops Is Bad
Out of Bad Comes Good
A sweatshop is a factory where workers receive low wages while being forced to work in poor
environments. In general, these workshops produce an abundant amount of the clothing that we wear
everyday. However, few acknowledge the act of sweatshop labor, since it is rarely shown to the public
eye. Ironically, many popular fashion brands that we buy from all recieve clothes that are made in
sweatshops. While sweatshop workers are treated unfairly in the workplace, fast fashion provides
them with jobs and it provides us with the clothing that we constantly demand for. To understand the
topic of sweatshop labor, we must recognize the effects of this controversial working system.
First, we have to consider the conditions that

Workforce Planning Paper
Workforce Planning prior to implementing actions to increase diversity in the IT department, it s
necessary to evaluate the diversity and characteristics of the current team to establish the best fit , such
as the strengths of the department, the challenges, and how to build on the strengths and address the
challenges to create a diverse work environment (Harvard University, 2016). In evaluating the current
system, there must be a consideration on whether the future positions or job categories are
underutilized for women, minorities, or both as it pertains to the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (NC State University, 2011). In essence, the identification of CML s core capabilities and

For example, the largest accumulation of IT personnel, Silicon Valley, lacks in diversity of women and
minorities and is largely dominated by Caucasian males (Rodriguez, 2015). As a result, there might be
a lack of diverse individuals to choose from when reaching the recruitment phase of the project. In
addition, the evaluation phase of the diversity project would take the time to complete, since it
assesses many aspects of the organization to gather a complete image of the issue. However, the
strategic workforce planning supports the overall CML mission to provide excellent service and
improve the efficiency of the organization through maximizing the workforce potential (Klingner et
al., 2010).
Rating: On a scale of 1 10, this recommendation receives a 10 because the implementation of position
management assists the employees with job descriptions the necessary skills and qualifications to
motivate them and complete their tasks. Additionally, the analytical approach to workforce planning
provides a fact based method to understanding the behaviors of the environment and the people. In

The Book Of Daniel Character Analysis
What makes a person a person? Some might say that we are human because we were born from our
parents having sex and creating us stemming from a unicell zygote. Others believe that a person is the
kind of entity that has the moral right to make its own life choices, to live its life without
(unprovoked) interference from others. (Illinois State University) So who is Daniel and how is he
defined as a person? Well, throughout The Book of Daniel by E.L. Doctorow, Daniel is portrayed as a
man whose rough childhood has sparked him in his adult life to victimize every single person around
him, especially his wife. It also seems that Daniel is not capable of enjoying any activity that a healthy
person would be able to, and also points towards him living a destructive and violent nature lifestyle.
According to Robert Forrey in his article Doctorow s The Book of Daniel : All in the Family. , The
Book of Daniel is about the fucking within and of the Jewish family, fucking in the literal, sexual, and
the figurative senses. (Forrey 168) Throughout the book, the narrator and Daniel display multiple
forms of sexual thoughts and actions which predominantly deal with his wife Phyllis. Daniel goes on
abusing Phyllis both mentally and physically. One of the first instances, when we picture Daniel as a
sexually violent person is when soft Phyllis from Brooklyn suffering yet another penetration and her
tormentor Daniel gently squeezing handfuls of soft ass while he probes her virtue.

How Did Greek Culture Influence Art And Literature
In the 5th century BCE, art and literature were very influential in Greek poleis such as Athens, Sparta,
and Corinth. One of the many influences art and literature had was encouraging emotional stability,
which fostered good health. Additionally, by idealizing the image of the divine, artists and authors
emphasized the importance of religion. Finally, by showcasing works of literature or art dedicated to
the accomplishments of a nation whenever possible, creators demonstrated the importance and
embodiment of national pride. Art and literature reflected important values within Greek culture such
as emotional stability, importance of religion, and national pride through symbolism. Through the

Alex Rider Quotes
In Alex Rider: Snakehead, teenage agent Alex Rider is held hostage by Chinese British gangster
addressed as Major Yu after being illegally smuggled into Australia under the cover of an Afghan
refugee. To illustrate, Major Yu is snakehead general and part of the Scorpia executive board of
sabotage and terrorism. Moreover, I predict, based upon various strings of evidence and particular
quotes, that Alex will successfully flee from Major Yu s grip and will be in the possession of M16 or
possibly the Australian Secret Intelligence Service; both intelligence services in which Alex has served
for in the past. This prediction is due to the fact that Major Yu remarks about his condition which is
known as osteoporosis. Osteoporosis, more commonly known as brittle bone disease, is a type of
infection that influences the bones and joints of an individual. Which in effect, causes the skeletal
system to weaken and commonly shatter to individual parts. In conclusion, the exact effect of Alex
Rider s faith is unknown; however, the following quote suggests that Alex may have a slim surviving
chance if luck and the British Intelligence services are within his reach. ... Show more content on

In this case, however, Alex is accommodated by ASIS agent Anthony Sean Howell, who is otherwise

Feminism in Adrienne Rich s Poetry Essay
Adrienne Rich s poetry serves a prophetic function by articulating the history and ideals of the
feminist struggle. By recalling the ancient chthonic mysteries of blood and birth, by reconnecting
daughters with their mothers, by drawing parallels between women today and their historical
counterparts, and by envisioning the women of the future who will emerge from the feminist struggle,
her poetry celebrates women s strength and possibilities. Elaborating her vision, Rich brings a
nurturing ethos to her analysis of social priorities: I simply believe that human society is capable of
meeting the fundamental needs of all human beings: we can give them a minimum standard of living,
we can give them an education, we can create an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
( LSS, 213) This emphasis on making women s reality and values visible echoes the Puritan injunction
to externalize faith. Like the Puritans who became visible saints through spiritual preparation for the
day God called them, women name themselves by analyzing their experience and understanding the
meaning of their lives: And it means the most difficult thing of all: listening and watching in art and
literature, in the social sciences, in all the descriptions we are given of the world, for the silences, the
absences, the nameless, the unspoken, the encoded for there we will find the true knowledge of
women. And in breaking those silences, naming our selves, uncovering the hidden, making ourselves
present, we begin to define a reality which resonates to us, which affirms our being . . . to take
ourselves, and each other, seriously: meaning, to begin to take charge of our lives. ( LSS, 145) In
addition to shared rhetorical patterns, there are structural parallels in Puritan reformation and feminist
transformation: both envision the creation of a new world and both are threatened by external forces

Gender Stereotypes In The Grocery Store
In the grocery store the male employees married or not all stop to observe the girls. The men in the

McMahon the old butcher makes a more physical, obvious, and inappropriate observation of ogling

Ender understands that he is being offered a spot in Battle School, but does not know that it is the
beginning of isolation for him. In the beginning, Graff had already planned to take Ender with him to
Battle School and in order for that to succeed; Graff had to persuade Ender that he is making his
family s life harder. They look at you and see you as a badge of pride, because they were able to
circumvent the law and have a Third. But you re also a badge of cowardice, because they dare not go
further and practice the noncompliance they still feel is right. And you re a badge of public shame,
because at every step you interfere with their efforts at assimilation into normal complying society

use this to do mathematical conversions to determine mass, volume, and number of atoms or
molecules in a given substance. For example let s check out this video to convert moles methane
(CH4) to grams of methane. http://www.sciencegeek.net/Chemistry/Video/Unit4/GMV2.shtml

Time for some more practice:
1. How many grams of glucose are in 6.63 x 1023 molecules of glucose, C6H12O6? *198.37g
C6H12O6
2. Determine the number of molecules found in a 12.4 g sample of H2SO4. *7.61x1023 atoms H2SO4
3. 3.14 x 1023 molecules of CO2 are produced in a chemical reaction. How much would the sample
weigh in grams? *2.29g CO2
4. How many atoms are in a 39.8 g sample of Fe? *3.68x1023 atoms Fe
Can I apply this somehow to volume? Well at standard temperature and pressure (STP) a mole of a gas
will occupy 22.4 liters. So If we keep our units straight we should be able calculate a given volume of
gas from moles. Check it out...... http://www.sciencegeek.net/Chemistry/Video/Unit4/GMV4.shtml 1.
Convert 427 Liters of CO2 to moles.
2. 37 liters of O2 to moles.
3. How about 3.4 moles of CO to liters?
4. 122 moles of Methane to liters?
What about converting a given volume of gas to mass or a given mass to volume? Once again you
have to get to that common ground first, which is the mole.

Persuasive Essay On Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood Federation of America or the PPFA provides healthcare for millions of men and
women across the globe. They provide many reproductive services and they have offices all around
the globe. They have sex education information to help inform people of the risks some actions, like
sex, can lead to and how to be safe. Many people think planned parenthood should be defended, but
Planned Parenthood should continue to be funded because they provide safe abortion services, STD
testing which includes treatment as well, along with women s health care services. One of the many
women s services that Planned Parenthood implements into their organization is safe, medically
supervised, legal abortions. Most of the individuals who are not in favor of funding Planned
Parenthood are solely against it because of the abortion services that this organization provides.
Without safe and legal abortions, the increase of unsafe abortions would increase and some people
may take drastic measures (Baptiste). In developing countries and counties where abortion is not legal
there are many safe abortions performed that could be avoided if proper care was allowed (Baptiste).
In this article Baptiste says, In El Salvador, a 1998 law went into effect that made abortion illegal with
no exceptions including rape, life of the mother, or incest. Women who are found guilty of having an
abortion face two to eight year in prison. This could promote unhealthy solutions to terminate an

It is important to note that the Taliban was a Pashtun Islamic Fundamentalist group in the 1990 s. It
was started by Islamic fighters who resisted the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan and Pakistan from
1979 to 1989. Not only was it comprised of Islamic fighters but also were joined by younger Pashtun
tribesmen who had studied in Pakistani seminaries. The Taliban gained support in the beginning
during the post Soviet era by promising to stabilize the country of Afghanistan along with the rule of

Many women during this time faced harsh treatment characterized by abuse and lack of equality.
Although the Taliban feel that their treatment of women is justifiable through Sharia law however,
there is nothing within that states that this treatment was justifiable. It is said that the treatment of
women at the time was consistent with treatment in rural areas of Afghanistan that had been going on
for centuries. Women in Afghanistan before the Soviet occupation and the Taliban was fairly
progressive and in comparison to other countries such as the United States and England. They were
able to vote and dressed in what many would call the latest fashion at the time and not on the
conservative side. After the occupation of the Soviets and into the rule of the Taliban, women were not
being granted the same status as men. It is common that when most people around the world think of
women in Afghanistan they think of a woman in full body burqas. However, before the conflict in

Through Soviet occupation in the 1970s, civil conflict between Mujahedeen groups, and government
forces this progression changed. Under Taliban rule, women in Afghanistan had their rights

This began with women and girls being banned from: going to school or studying, from working, from

The Relationship Between Internal Control Deficiencies And...
the Relationship Between Internal Control Deficiencies Severities and Audit Fees
1. Introduction
With the development of accounting and the occurrences of accounting scandals, such as Waste
management scandal, Enron scandal, and Worldcom scandal, internal control of a company has been
paid unprecedented attention. For companies, effective internal control activities can help
management to prevent and detect errors or frauds from accounting system so that they can have a
better operating circumstance. In 2002, the United State Congress passed Sarbanes Oxley Section
(SOX) 404, which requires management to assess the effectiveness of a company s internal controls
over financial reporting (ICOFR) and requires external auditors to review management s assessment,
and then to provide their own conclusion related to the effectiveness of the ICOFR (Choi, Kim, Kwon,
Zang, 2010). The Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 indicates the rising concern about accounting scandals
in businesses due to ineffective internal control systems.
Internal controls of companies are to ensure the reliability of financial reporting, which are developed
by companies managements, thus, if a company has deficiencies in their internal control, it will have a
high risk of material misstatement over their financial reporting. Generally, the likelihood in big firms
that errors or frauds are appeared in accounting system is higher than the likelihood in small firms
(Hoitas, Hoitash, Bedard, 2008). Audit risk

sometimes the misuse of the hockey stick, and even fights. Now all off these are deemed acceptable
by hockey fans to a certain extent. When a player swings his stick at another player and an injury
occurs to the opposing man the instigator can usually expect to be penalized for a short amount of
time, maybe even a suspension from the team for a few games. But when does this violent act on the
ice become a criminal offence? Does it take for the recipient to break his neck, or maybe even loose
his vision for us to take a serious look at what happened and realize that this is not what we are
looking to watch when we sit down to watch a game. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact of the matter is the player intended on injuring his opponent when he shouldn t because that
is not in the job description. They need to hammer this into the athletes heads, even if you are doing it
to protect another teammate, retaliation cannot be stood for no matter what. When you step on the rink
you should only have one thing on your mind and that is to win. There is no reason for anyone in any
professional sport to go onto the playing surface with intention to injure someone else out there. They
do not get paid to hurt people they get paid to play the game just like teachers get paid to teach. When
the players drop the gloves they do that knowing they are subjected to injury, however that is a part of
the game that is against the rules and could result in an injury but both players are aware of what is
going on. A sucker punch or a stick over the head only has one of the players aware of what is
happening and leaves the other one subjected to major injuries.
Stick swinging seems to be one of the favoured ‘cheap shots in the hockey. There are many
reoccurring happenings of this offence and it needs to be stopped. It happens more then we hear about
because we only hear about the major ones where the receiving player obtains a mild injury. The
normal penalty for stick swinging is a minor suspension but no legal action is taking place for these
minor offences. In order to cut down on these things need to be done.

The Shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation
The years following the American Revolution, better known as the Critical Period, were some of the
most vulnerable moments in the extensive history of the United States. The Critical Period is infamous
for a post war recession, disorganization and competition of states, as well as a total lack of unity
about the nation. The Articles of Confederation, ratified during the onset of this tumultuous period,
added new dimension to early Americans idea of national government. The Articles formed a loosely
united country under a highly restricted federal government. This apparent aversion of strong central
government was rooted in the former colonists fear of a sequel to their monarchial horror that was
England. Some believe that the Articles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Five years earlier, in a letter from the Rhode Island Assembly to Congress the assembly concluded
that taxation on imported goods creates inequality between the commercial and the agrarian societies
of America (Document 1). The Rhode Island Assembly brings up the idea that state governments were
allowed to tax freely without congressional regulation, while Congress posed to levy importation taxes
geared towards the Northern, more commercial part of America. This letter speaks to the injustices of
taxation, and taxation was the main reason for Shays s Rebellion. Shays s Rebellion caused that unjust
and disorganized means of taxation further exemplifies the failure that was the Articles of
Confederation. The final reason why the Articles of Confederation created an ineffective government
is inadequate foreign affairs. Prior to the revolution, the thirteen colonies were not united as they did
not need to be they were all there for the purpose and betterment of Great Britain. As the colonists
won their independence, almost every state began producing a different type of currency, untracked
and unregulated by the new federal government. This total disunity left the states in competition over
exports with one another. This competition left the country as a whole weak, and other countries
perception of us the same. In the table that compares the value of exports to Great Britain to the

It meant that Canada could change its constitution without the involvement of British Parliament. It
received royal assent from Queen Elizabeth II on March 29th 1982 and severed all remaining legal

The Charter ensured the protection of fundamental and language rights for Canadians across the

The Importance Of Science And Science
In the modern world, science and math make up everything around us. The world we live in now
exists because of science and math, but there was a time when people didn t like math and science. A
time when people would rather believe religion and logic, then math, science, and evidence.
Narrator Michael Mosley tells a story of science. He says the story of one of the great upheavals in
human history was how we came to understand that our planet was not at the center of everything in
the cosmos but just one of billions of bodies in a vast and expanding universe. In Greece, at the temple
of Apollo, there was the city of Delphi, where many greeks would go because they belived there was a
stone that was in the middle of the Earth and the middle of the universe. Greek scientists believed that
the Earth remained still, while the rest of the stars and planets moved around us and Earth was in the
middle of the cosmos.
For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was in the middles of the universe. They even
built equipment that further fueled their belief. In modern times, we know this isn t true, so how did
people stop believing? It started in the 17th century.
During the 17th centruy, Europe was in turmoil. Religion and new rules were sweeping across the
nation. It was during this time that Rudolph II, who ruled Prague, wanted new discoveries. Prague was
at the center of wealth and power, so Rudolph II wanted to show it. Enter Tycho Brahe, a Danish

The Theme Of Revolt Of The Rats By Reed Blitzerman
Revolt of the Rats by Reed Blitzerman is a suspense novella following two storylines: one is set in
Depression era America and the second in the automotive industry in the 1990s. Kahle Desireau
applies for a job at Motomax automotive plant; he has just left the army after six years of service. His
primary motivation for considering Motomax is that he wants to be near Beezor Wasikowska, the
woman of his infatuation. The Frampton plant readily employs Kahle, and thus begins his new career
as a factory rat. The second storyline focuses on Eli Steiner, a farmer struggling to keep his
smallholding during the Great Depression. Once he recovers from smallpox, he establishes a second
industry, a machine shop, on his land. He intends the shop to be ... Show more content on

Important aspects of the story are unclear, namely Kahle s ability to see auras, his military background
and what his story had to do with Eli s. At times, I wondered if some details and characters were
forgotten in the course of the writing. Because of this, the story had a stilted, perfunctory quality that
made it difficult to read and confusing to navigate. It read like a first draft, not a finished product. The
end of the story never resolved the problems or questions set by the premise. I understand that this is
the first book of a series, but a clear, resolved ending is more satisfying to a reader than a blunt one.
Since Revolt of the Rats needs professional editing and a tighter rein to keep the plot on track, I would
not recommend it to readers, so I give it 2 out of 4. The editing and typesetting issues were the main
reasons I could not give this book a higher rating, but the undeveloped nature of the story took it down
another rating point. The theme of Revolt of the Rats has the potential to appeal to an audience living
in a capitalist economy and certainly will once the story is polished, professionally edited and
developed into a finished

A Narrative About Dinah, The Daughter Of Jacob And Leah
Genesis 34 tells a narrative about Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah. Dinah went to visit the
women of the area. As she was out visiting, the prince of the region, Shechem, saw her from afar.
Shechem went to Dinah and raped her because of his infatuation with her. Shechem loved Dinah and
spoke sweetly to her so that she would be charmed by him. Shechem went to his father, Hamor King
of the Hivites. Shechem expressed to his father that he needed Dinah to become his wife.
By this time, Jacob had heard that Shechem had caused his daughter to become impure. Jacob waited
until his sons were home from working in the fields to tell them of the news about Dinah and
Shechem. Just as Jacob s sons arrived Hamor was asking Jacob for marriage arrangements for
Shechem. When Jacob s sons heard was Shechem had done to Dinah they were enraged. According to
the law in Israel, what Shechem had done was intolerable. Despite this, Hamor pleaded for his son to
have Dinah as his wife. Hamor said that if Jacob gives him his daughters, then Hamor would give
Jacob s sons his daughters. Hamor went on to say that the land will become partially theirs. Hamor
promised to give Jacob and his sons whatever they could possibly ask for if Shechem could marry
Dinah. The sons of Jacob said they could not possibly allow Dinah to be wedded to Shechem because
he was not circumcised. The matrimony would cause much disgrace to Jacob and his family as a result
of Shechem s uncirumcision. In order to permit the

This Note argues that U.S. LNG exportation polig is inconsistent with its WTO obligations, and
despite the merits of such apolig, those differences may not be reconciled by invoking a GATT
environmental exception. Consequently, if U.S. polig remains unchanged, the United States risks
frustrating non FTA partner countries that increasingly demand natural gas exports, creating an
internally conflicted trade polig, losing credibiliy to challenge other countries, and even succumbing
to successful challenges before the WTO.

Introduction . Flammable Gasses Can Be Very Dangerous Mostly
Introduction Flammable gasses can be very dangerous mostly when it comes to highly volatile
products. This is because they can evaporate at very low temperatures, may be room temperature and
due to their low energy of activation to react. Highly volatile products are that dangerous because they
cannot be seen, can evaporate any single moment, regardless of the size of leakage, they spread very
fast among many other risks. This was the case at one of the manufacturing plants in Massachusetts,
Arnel chemical plant. The plant was responsible for manufacturing printer paints On November 21,

was also very minimal and poor observation of the plant. It was reported that there were no any

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PLA
Despite several advantages ,PLA has some drawbacks as well, which limits its use in certain
applications3. PLA has poor toughness (very brittle material with less than 10% elongation at break),
slow degradation rate (low crystallinity), hydrophobicity (hydrophobic with a static contact angle of
approximately 80°), lack of reactive side chain groups and poor barrier properties (to moisture and
air)3. Moreover, the poor melt strength restricts the applicability of specific processing techniques
such as film blowing etc.
Several attempts have been made to improve the properties of PLA. Researchers have approached
surface modifications to enhance the mechanical properties, especially toughness, processability,
degradation behaviour and crystallization11. By the use of surface modification techniques different
reactive groups such as COOH, OH, and NH2 can be introduced on the surface of PLA. Grafting

Analysis Of Farley Mowat s Never Cry Wolf
Never Cry Wolf , by Farley Mowat, uses a lot of anthropomorphism. We see wolves as bloodthirsty
savages that prey on the weak, cause havoc, and kill just to attack or to start a fight. Quite the
opposite, the wolves only kill for food or when under attack. Their actions are based on their needs.
Contrary to the wolves, humans hunt for food but they also do so for pleasure. In reality, the wolves
just do what is needed to survive. The author studied the wolves to further document the truths about
the lives of wolves and his use of anthropomorphism bring this book to life. It is ironic at times as the

allowed the driver to sit back and relax as the car attempted to drive without assistance. The self
driving car should be a normal mode of transportation because they reduce accidents, are accessible to
all ages, and are cost efficient. Self driving cars prevent accidents by reacting to stimuli faster than
humans. Associated Press writes, The system can brake when it spots obstacles and keep cars in lanes.
(Source 3) The cars can sense and save one when falling asleep from a long road trip or simply a night
out. Furthermore, less accidents result in less traffic, which will result in decongested roads. The ...

may cause the car to have a hard time finding unknown locations easily. However, as technology
progresses, the problem should be resolved. Also, even if the self driving car invented by Google can
hold only a thousand miles, the daily routine of many workers and students don t normally consist of

Book Thief Effect
Don t judge a book by it s cover. Unless, of course, the cover hints at a major literary element used
throughout the entire book. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is printed with a series of dominoes on
the cover. Simply picking up the book for the first time, a reader would not know the meaning behind
the image; but as the story unfolds, its significance and meaning is realized. Cause and effect has a
major impact on our lives. Actions all have a reaction and a consequence. The Book Thief is an
excellent example of this. When Hans helped the Jewish man in the street, he was viewed as a Jew
lover which resulted in fear that his house would be searched for hidden Jews. Because of the fear,
Max was forced to leave for all their safety. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Liesel and Rudy s relationship as well. At one point in early December, the two friends ran into

her about it. Rudy defends her, saying that he s the one they re after and to leave her alone. Viktor

Patent Indirect Infringement Of Patent Infringement
1.Introduction
Patent indirect infringement,as the name implies,is opposite to patent direct infringement.
Generally, the conception of patent indirect infringement is to meet the need of pantent protection. It
expands the protection domain of the patent right to the no patented products, improves patent
protection s horizontal and provides sufficient legal protection for patentees.
Nowadays, more and more countries ordain the system of indirect infringement in their patent laws in
order to protect the patentees effectually, and the system of indirect infringement has become a full
blown law operating mechanism in the protection of patentees. But so far it is not prescribed in
Chinese patent law. However, as China is more and more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Case Description(Actavis V Liily [2015] EWCA 555 (Civ))
In June 2015,Eli Lilly won a patent case to Actavis in the the Court of Appeal in London. The case
was about Lilly s key blockbuster Alimta lung cancer drug, which was granted a Patent (EP 1 313 508
B1) on April 18 2007. The decision of the Court of Appeal overturned the decision last year in UK
high court, and would also apply to France, Italy and Spain.
At the first instance, Mr Justice Arnold used the improver questions to decide that there was no direct
or contributory infringement of using generic products containing pemetrexed diacid, pemetrexed
dipotassium or pemetrexed ditromethamine. In that decision, Mr Justice Arnold relied on the
prosecution history of the patent and concluded that during prosecution of this case, Eli Lilly had

Imagination in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner versus...
To the Romantics, the imagination was important. It was the core and foundation of everything they
thought about, believed in, and even they way they perceived God itself. The leaders of the Romantic
Movement were undoubtedly Samuel Taylor Coleridge and his close friend, William Wordsworth.
Both were poets, and both wrote about the imagination. Wordsworth usually wrote about those close
to nature, and therefore, in the minds of the Romantics, deeper into the imagination than the ordinary
man. Coleridge, however, was to write about the supernatural, how nature extended past the depth of
the rational mind.
In two works by Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, both works regard the
imagination as vitally important. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one being kills merely for the sake of killing, they have just taken another being out of the frame of
the imagination. The imagination replies in an abrupt manner it simply expels said being from the web
of the imagination. Without the imagination, there becomes no religion, no friendship, no
communication, and since the imagination is synonymous with life, without the imagination, the being
ceases to exist, not die, just stop living: And I blessed them unaware. The selfsame moment I could
pray, And from my neck so free the Albatross fell off, and sank like lead into the sea... each turned his
face with a ghastly pang, and cursed me with his eye... all dumb we stood... I pass, like night, from
land to land .
There are key differences in the function and style of Kubla Khan to the workings of the imagination
in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Instead of being a force that causes sterility, suffering, and
loneliness, in Kubla Khan the imagination becomes a creative, imaginative, fecundative force. It has
the power to create not just emotions and feelings, but with the right tools, can create tangible works
of immense power that cannot be rivaled: The shadow of the dome of pleasure floated midway on the
waves, where was heard the mingled measure from the fountain and the caves. It was a miracle of rare
device: a sunny pleasure dome with caves of ice . As if this earth in fast thick pants

My Pharmacy Career
My time spent interning at the UVM hospital pharmacy has helped me grow with the career I want to
pursue. Going into the class I was interested in healthcare that would provide a comfortable living for
myself. During my job shadow I learned how being a teammate is very important the being a
pharmacist. The team consists of doctors, nurses, technicians and the patients. The comradery of each
other helps with the job. This is helpful for me because I want to be in a career I am comfortable with.
I have been playing multiple team sports since I could walk. It s part of my life to understand how a
team works. The time spent talking to the pharmacists in the chemotherapy wing helped by understand
where I want to be in the pharmacy career. Retail is for the person that has social skills and
economical skills along with the skills of being organized. Working at a hospital is more working
behind the scenes . It possesses similar skills but the environment to applying them is different. It has
helped me determine that I want to get my MBA throughout sometime in my career. I heard that some
people got their MBA as they got their doctor of pharmacy but that is very ambitious. I think that I
want to get my doctor of pharmacy and then wherever I am working might be able to pay for my
education to get an MBA. I like how there are always a job for pharmacist, also jobs anywhere. That
helps because I don t want to be restricted to a career where I can only work in certain parts of the

Egyptian Cuisine During The Arab Republic Of Egypt
The unique Egyptian cuisine has been influenced throughout history, particularly by its neighbors
from the Middle East. Those contries that have influenced include Persians (modern day Iraqis),
Greeks, Romans (modern day Italians), Arabs, and Ottomans (from modern day Turkey) first
influenced Egyptian cuisine thousands of years ago. More recently, the foods of other Arabic people in
the Middle East such as the Lebanese, Palestinians, Syrians, as well as some foods from Europe, have
affected the Egyptian diet.
Rice and bread remain staple foods, and molokhiyya(a spinach like vegetable) and ful mudammas
(cooked, creamy fava beans), a national dish.
The Arab Republic of Egypt is located in the northeastern region of the African continent, bordering
both the Mediterranean and Red Seas. The climate is extremely dry and most of the country receives
less than one inch of rainfall each year. The widespread lack of rainfall makes it extremely difficult to
grow crops. Egypt has no forests and only 2 percent of the land is arable.
The Nile River, the longest river in the world, runs north and south through eastern Egypt and empties
into the Mediterranean Sea. Approximately 95 percent of the country s population lives alongside the
Nile River. This is why the Egyptian cuisine is so high in fish.
Egypt had one of the longest histories of any modern country, arising in the tenth millennium BC as
one of the world s first nation states. Ancient Egypt had some of the earliest

  • 2. Handwriting Recognition Essay The one feature that got the most attention and strongly influenced its demise was its handwriting recognition capability. In all message pads, handwriting recognition was the basis of data input to many of the built in applications and functions. According to Professor Luckie, this handwriting recognition depends solely on Paragraph International Inc. s Calligrapher recognition engine. Calligrapher technology was limited by the dictionary of words to which it has access (Luckie, n.d.). This shows that if you write a word that doesn t exist in the dictionary, then Calligrapher is not going to recognize it correctly and often suggests funny but incorrect phrases as the user wrote. Even though the limitation of the Calligrapher recognition partly contributed to the demise of MessagePad, Apple was able to rescue Newton during the release of the second generation OS (Newton 2.0 OS). This software brought the MessagePad back to the technology it was intended to be by introducing the new printed handwriting recognition engine. Professor Luckie, in his website that documents the evolution of Newton OS describes how the engineers at Apple had developed a letter by letter handwriting reorganizer that could only recognize printed text (Luckie, n.d.). The printed text recognizer in OS 2.0 requires no dictionary or handwriting learning period. It only requires separated printed characters to analyze. Both handwriting recognition engines were innovative systems that adapted to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Resulting from the unrealistic beauty standards promoted by advertisements she saw every day, she was never proud of her own body. And tragically, at only eighteen years of age, she committed suicide. Sadly, Hannah was not alone in the pressures she felt about not being perfect like the models she saw on television. In fact, teenagers and children nationwide are being influenced by advertising in negative ways. Advertisements are promoting flawlessness in women that does not exist, unhealthy eating habits, and the idea that happiness must be bought. In fact, a recent study on materialism said, children who watch a lot of commercials attach more value to money and things, and, ...believe that happiness can be bought (Opree). Children are more susceptible to being influenced by the advertisements they see. Therefore, advertisements aimed at adolescents often feature expensive toys and brands that appeal to children and cause them to want to purchase the items. The children also examine how delighted the people in the advertisements look with the products, and that makes them believe that they must buy their happiness. Another study shows that people will, ...establish buying habits they will carry into adulthood (Day, Nancy). Basically, when children identify advertisements for popular items, they will begin to purchase the items and become loyal to those brands. These could be expensive brands that will influence their other purchases, making them think that if one item they purchase is expensive, then their other purchases must be expensive as well. Wanting their lives to be on the level of the expensive brands they own, consumers are becoming more and more materialistic. While there are some positive things about advertising, the negatives are far more destructive. In general, these workshops produce an abundant amount of the clothing that we wear everyday. However, few acknowledge the act of sweatshop labor, since it is rarely shown to the public eye. Ironically, many popular fashion brands that we buy from all recieve clothes that are made in sweatshops. While sweatshop workers are treated unfairly in the workplace, fast fashion provides them with jobs and it provides us with the clothing that we constantly demand for. To understand the topic of sweatshop labor, we must recognize the effects of this controversial working system. First, we have to consider the conditions that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Workforce Planning Paper Workforce Planning prior to implementing actions to increase diversity in the IT department, it s necessary to evaluate the diversity and characteristics of the current team to establish the best fit , such as the strengths of the department, the challenges, and how to build on the strengths and address the challenges to create a diverse work environment (Harvard University, 2016). In evaluating the current system, there must be a consideration on whether the future positions or job categories are underutilized for women, minorities, or both as it pertains to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (NC State University, 2011). For example, the largest accumulation of IT personnel, Silicon Valley, lacks in diversity of women and minorities and is largely dominated by Caucasian males (Rodriguez, 2015). As a result, there might be a lack of diverse individuals to choose from when reaching the recruitment phase of the project. In addition, the evaluation phase of the diversity project would take the time to complete, since it assesses many aspects of the organization to gather a complete image of the issue. However, the strategic workforce planning supports the overall CML mission to provide excellent service and improve the efficiency of the organization through maximizing the workforce potential (Klingner et al., 2010). • 6. The Book Of Daniel Character Analysis What makes a person a person? Some might say that we are human because we were born from our parents having sex and creating us stemming from a unicell zygote. Others believe that a person is the kind of entity that has the moral right to make its own life choices, to live its life without (unprovoked) interference from others. (Illinois State University) So who is Daniel and how is he defined as a person? Well, throughout The Book of Daniel by E.L. Doctorow, Daniel is portrayed as a man whose rough childhood has sparked him in his adult life to victimize every single person around him, especially his wife. It also seems that Daniel is not capable of enjoying any activity that a healthy person would be able to, and also points towards him living a destructive and violent nature lifestyle. According to Robert Forrey in his article Doctorow s The Book of Daniel : All in the Family. , The Book of Daniel is about the fucking within and of the Jewish family, fucking in the literal, sexual, and the figurative senses. (Forrey 168) Throughout the book, the narrator and Daniel display multiple forms of sexual thoughts and actions which predominantly deal with his wife Phyllis. Daniel goes on abusing Phyllis both mentally and physically. One of the first instances, when we picture Daniel as a sexually violent person is when soft Phyllis from Brooklyn suffering yet another penetration and her tormentor Daniel gently squeezing handfuls of soft ass while he probes her virtue. ... This prediction is due to the fact that Major Yu remarks about his condition which is known as osteoporosis. • 10. Feminism in Adrienne Rich s Poetry Essay Adrienne Rich s poetry serves a prophetic function by articulating the history and ideals of the feminist struggle. By recalling the ancient chthonic mysteries of blood and birth, by reconnecting daughters with their mothers, by drawing parallels between women today and their historical counterparts, and by envisioning the women of the future who will emerge from the feminist struggle, her poetry celebrates women s strength and possibilities. Elaborating her vision, Rich brings a nurturing ethos to her analysis of social priorities: I simply believe that human society is capable of meeting the fundamental needs of all human beings: we can give them a minimum standard of living, we can give them an education, we can create an ... The world we live in now exists because of science and math, but there was a time when people didn t like math and science. A time when people would rather believe religion and logic, then math, science, and evidence. Narrator Michael Mosley tells a story of science. He says the story of one of the great upheavals in human history was how we came to understand that our planet was not at the center of everything in the cosmos but just one of billions of bodies in a vast and expanding universe. In Greece, at the temple of Apollo, there was the city of Delphi, where many greeks would go because they belived there was a stone that was in the middle of the Earth and the middle of the universe. Shechem loved Dinah and spoke sweetly to her so that she would be charmed by him. Shechem went to his father, Hamor King of the Hivites. Shechem expressed to his father that he needed Dinah to become his wife. By this time, Jacob had heard that Shechem had caused his daughter to become impure. Jacob waited until his sons were home from working in the fields to tell them of the news about Dinah and Shechem. Just as Jacob s sons arrived Hamor was asking Jacob for marriage arrangements for Shechem. When Jacob s sons heard was Shechem had done to Dinah they were enraged. According to the law in Israel, what Shechem had done was intolerable. Despite this, Hamor pleaded for his son to have Dinah as his wife. Hamor said that if Jacob gives him his daughters, then Hamor would give Jacob s sons his daughters. Hamor went on to say that the land will become partially theirs. Hamor promised to give Jacob and his sons whatever they could possibly ask for if Shechem could marry Dinah. The sons of Jacob said they could not possibly allow Dinah to be wedded to Shechem because he was not circumcised.
