Most authentication implementations either use 'plain old' LDAP, sometimes in combination with Kerberos and/or Samba. Lately there is also an interest in FreeIPA, especially on RHEL based platforms.
We created a setup using the LDAP server OpenDJ, AD Kerberos, the SSSD client system daemon and additional tools & scripts.
Log analysis challenges include searching logs across multiple services and servers. The ELK stack provides a solution with Logstash to centralize log collection, Elasticsearch for storage and search, and Kibana for visualization. Logstash uses input, filter, and output plugins to collect, parse, and forward logs. Example configurations show using stdin and filters to parse OpenStack logs before outputting to Elasticsearch and Kibana for analysis and dashboards.

As a matter of fact, most resources online refer to the Scala API that is exposed by Spark. What to do if you and your company are much more comfortable with Java than the Scala language? Probably everyone who has written stateful Apache Flink applications has used one of the fault-tolerant keyed state primitives ValueState, ListState, and MapState. With RocksDB, however, retrieving and updating items comes at an increased cost that you should be aware of. Sometimes, these may not be avoidable with the current API, e.g., for efficient event-time stream-sorting or streaming joins where you need to iterate one or two buffered streams in the right order. With FLIP-220, we are introducing a new state primitive: BinarySortedMultiMapState. This new form of state offers you to (a) efficiently store lists of values for a user-provided key, and (b) iterate keyed state in a well-defined sort order. Both features can be backed efficiently by RocksDB with a 2x performance improvement over the current workarounds. This talk will go into the details of the new API and its implementation, present how to use it in your application, and talk about the process of getting it into Flink.

Domain-Specific Languages for Composable Editor Plugins (LDTA 2009)lennartkats
Modern IDEs increase developer productivity by incorporating many different kinds of editor services. These can be purely syntactic, such as syntax highlighting, code folding, and an outline for navigation; or they can be based on the language semantics, such as in-line type error reporting and resolving identifier declarations. Building all these services from scratch requires both the extensive knowledge of the sometimes complicated and highly interdependent APIs and extension mechanisms of an IDE framework, and an in-depth understanding of the structure and semantics of the targeted language. This paper describes Spoofax/IMP, a meta-tooling suite that provides high-level domain-specific languages for describing editor services, relieving editor developers from much of the framework-specific programming. Editor services are defined as composable modules of rules coupled to a modular SDF grammar. The composability provided by the SGLR parser and the declaratively defined services allows embedded languages and language extensions to be easily formulated as additional rules extending an existing language definition. The service definitions are used to generate Eclipse editor plugins. We discuss two examples: an editor plugin for WebDSL, a domain-specific language for web applications, and the embedding of WebDSL in Stratego, used for expressing the (static) semantic rules of WebDSL.

Abstract
One of the key strengths of Spark is its flexibility as it integrates with dozens of different storage systems and file formats. However, it is not the same reading from a CSV file, or a SQL database, or an exotic stratified sampled multidimensional database. And finding the right balance between modularity and flexibility is not easy!
In this presentation, we will talk about the evolution of Spark's DataSource API, and how it integrates with the SQL optimizer, highlighting how we can make much faster queries with logical and the physical plans that better integrates with the storage. From theory to practise, we will then discuss how we extended the Spark's internals, and we built a new source integration that allows the push-down of both sampling and multidimensional filtering.

Paola Pardo is a Computer Engineer from Barcelona. She graduated in Computer engineer this last summer at the Technical University of Catalunya with a thesis focused on Data storage push down optimization based on Apache Spark. She is, and she is currently working at Barcelona Supercomputing Center and in its spin-off Qbeast developing a Qbeast-Spark connector.
Cesare Cugnasco is a PhD in Computer Architecture and a researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. His research focuses on NoSQL databases, distributed computing and High-performance storage. Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
