This work presents a fast response and stable computer based a brushed DC motor speed controller. The controller configured of gate drive circuits for H-Bridge accompanied with data acquisition unit DAQ-6211. These gate drive circuits include, phase comparator, current booster and wave forms cleaning circuits. An optical encoder is used for motor speed to frequency conversion. The CD4046 PLL chip compares phases of the encoder output frequency (motor speed) with a reference frequency (desired speed). The obtained phase difference (error) is used to allocate the suitable PWM duty cycles. An H-Bridge BJT switches driven by PWM is interfaced with the motor. The system hardware is provided with a simple and accurate data acquisition unit DAQ-6211 to be interfaced with the LabVIEW software Package. This allows monitoring and storing the different measured data of this platform. The system relative stability is determined and examined based on the Bode plot analysis and design. Then the relative stability criterion (Phase Margin) is measured the closed-loop stability of the system. This system considers the fast feedback response with indication of its stability state as well as the stable wide dynamic range. It compensates the changes in system parameters due to the environmental effects and other disturbances.
This paper introduces experimental comparison study between six and four switch inverter fed three phase induction motor drive system. The control strategy of the drive is based on speed sensoreless vector control using model reference adaptive system as a speed estimator. The adaptive mechanism of speed control loop depends on fuzzy logic control. Four switch inverter conFigureurations reduces the cost of the inverter, the switching losses, the complexity of the control algorithms, interface circuits, the computation of real-time implementation, volume-compactness and reliability of the drive system. The robustness of the proposed model reference adaptive system based on four switch three-phase inverter (FSTPI) fed induction motor drive is verified experimentally at different operating conditions. Experimental work is carried using digital signal processor (DSP1103) for a 1.1 kW motor. A performance comparison of the proposed FSTP inverter fed IM drive with a conventional six switch three-phase inverter (SSTP) inverter system is also made in terms of speed response. The results show that the proposed drive system provides a fast speed response and good disturbance rejection capability. The proposed FSTP inverter fed IM drive is found quite acceptable considering its performance, cost reduction and other advantages features.

It certainly leads to the best performance and high efficiency of the induction motor. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) are two new systems to control a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) whose output is given to a three-phase induction motor and driving a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt has three sensors are inputs which senses a passing object and carries out the necessary instructions programmed in ladder logic programming of the PLC through the computer (PC). The SCADA software installed in the PC in turn enables the human operator to control the entire operation away from the plant and just by using the virtual inputs designated on his computer screen.

The Conventional arrangement for MMS usually done by cascading the motors drives which each drives has individual inverter. Part of MMS, Dual-Motor drives fed by a single inverter is being paid attention by the researchers. Dual-motor drives using a single three-leg inverter has its limitation in the case of different operating conditions and independent speed control requirement. Therefore, dual-Motor drives using a single Five-leg Inverter (FLI) was proposed for independent control for both motors. In PMSM drives, the information of the feedback speed and rotor angular position is compulsory for variable speed drives. Conventional solution is by using speed sensor which will increase size, cost, extra hardwire and feedback devices, especially for the case of dual-PMSM drives. The best solution to overcome this problem is by eliminating the usage of speed and position sensors for Dual-motor drives. This paper presents a new sensorless strategy using speed and position estimator for Independent Dual- Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) drives which utilize Five-Leg Inverter (FLI). The proposed strategy is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink to evaluate the overall motor drive performance. Meanwhile the experimental set-up is connected to dSPACE 1103 Board. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed estimator is successfully managed to control the Dual-PMSM drives for variation of speed and for different direction applications.

It is known that controlling the speed of a three phase Induction Motor (IM) under different operating conditions is an important task and this can be accomplished through the process of controlling the applied voltage on its stator circuit. Conventional Proportional- Integral- Differeantional (PID) controller takes long time in selecting the error signal gain values. In this paper a hybrid Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) with Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to reduce the selected time for the optimized error signal gain values and as a result inhances the controller and system performance. The proposed controller FL with GA is designed, modeled and simulated using MATLAB/ software under different load torque motor operating condition. The simulation result shows that the closed loop system performance efficiency under the controller has a maximum value of 95.92%. In terms of efficiency and at reference speed signal of 146.53 rad/sec, this system performance shows an inhancement of 0.67%,0.49% and 0.05% with respect to the closed loop system efficiency performance of the PID, FL, and PID with GA controllers respectively. Also the simulation result of the well designed and efficient GA in speeding up the process of selecting the gain values, makes the system to have an efficiency improvement of 14.42% with respect to the open loop system performance.

This paper analyzes the effects of the bilateral control parameters variation on the stability, the transparency and the accuracy, and on the operational force that is applied to DC motor and the master system. The bilateral controller is designed for rehabilitation process. PD controller is used to control the position tracking and a force gain controller is used to control the motor torque. DOB eliminate the internal disturbance and RTOB to estimate the joint torque without using sensors. The system consists of two manipulators, each manipulator has 1dof, master and slave teleoperation system, 4 control-architecture channel, DOB and reaction force observer. The master system is attached to human oberator. The slave system is attached to external load. The aim in this paper is to design the controller so that it requires less force to move the master manipulator and at the same time achieve high performance in position tracking.

In this paper, we first write a description of the operation of DC motors taking into account which parameters the speed depends on thereof. The PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controllers are then briefly described, and then applied to the motor speed control already described , that is, as an electronic controller (PID), which is often referred to as a DC motor. The closed loop speed control of a Brush DC motor is developed applying the well-known PID control algorithm. The objective of this work is to designed and simulate a new control system to keep the speed of the DC motor constant before variations of the load (disturbances), automatically depending to the PID controller. The system was designed and implementation by using MATLAB/SIMULINK and DC motor.
The speed estimation technique of induction machines has become a non-trivial task. For estimating the speed of an induction motor precisely and accurately an optimum state estimator is necessary. This paper deals with the performance analysis of induction motor drives using a recursive, optimum state estimator. This technique uses a full order state space Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) model where the rotor flux, rotor speed and stator currents are estimated. A major challenge with induction motor occurs at very low and at near zero speed. In such cases, information about the rotor parameters with respect to stator side become unobservable while using the synchronously rotating reference frame. To overcome this lost coupling effect, EKF observer linearizes the non-linear parameter in every sampling period and estimates the states and machine parameters simultaneously. The proposed algorithm is tuned to obtain least error in estimated speed. Any error found is further optimized using a non-linear fuzzy controller to obtain improved performance of the drive.

The design and development of a BLDC motor drive for commercial applications is presented. The aim of paper is to design a simulation model of inverter fed PMBLDC motor with Fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy logic controller is developed using fuzzy logic tool box which is available in Matlab. FIS editor used to create .FIS file which contains the Fuzzy Logic Membership function and Rule base. And membership functions of desired output. After creating .FIS file it is implemented in the Matlab Simulink. And the BLDC motor is run satisfactorily using the Fuzzy logic controller.
Power optimisation scheme of induction motor using FLC for electric vehicleAsoka Technologies
In electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs, energy efficiency is essential where the energy storage is limited. Adding to its high stability and low cost, the induction motor efficiency improves with loss minimisation. Also, it can consume more power than the actual need to perform its working when it is operating in less than full load condition. This study proposes a control strategy based on the fuzzy logic control (FLC) for EV applications. FLC controller can improve the starting current amplitude and saves more power. Through the MATLAB/SIMULINK software package, the performance of this control was verified through simulation. As compared with the conventional proportional integral derivative controller, the simulation schemes show good, high-performance results in time-domain response and rapid rejection of system-affected disturbance. Therefore, the core losses of the induction motor are greatly reduced, and in this way improves the efficiency of the driving system. Finally, the suggested control system is validated by the experimental results obtained in the authors’ laboratory, which are in good agreement with the simulation results.
It is known that controlling the speed of a three phase Induction Motor (IM) under different operating conditions is an important task and this can be accomplished through the process of controlling the applied voltage on its stator circuit. Conventional Proportional- Integral- Differeantional (PID) controller takes long time in selecting the error signal gain values. In this paper a hybrid Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) with Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to reduce the selected time for the optimized error signal gain values and as a result inhances the controller and system performance. The proposed controller FL with GA is designed, modeled and simulated using MATLAB/ software under different load torque motor operating condition. The simulation result shows that the closed loop system performance efficiency under the controller has a maximum value of 95.92%. In terms of efficiency and at reference speed signal of 146.53 rad/sec, this system performance shows an inhancement of 0.67%,0.49% and 0.05% with respect to the closed loop system efficiency performance of the PID, FL, and PID with GA controllers respectively. Also the simulation result of the well designed and efficient GA in speeding up the process of selecting the gain values, makes the system to have an efficiency improvement of 14.42% with respect to the open loop system performance.

Mainly the DC motors are employed in most of the application. The main objective is to Regulate the DC motor system. A motor which displays the appearances of a DC motor but there is no commutator and brushes is called as brushless DC motor. These motors are widespread to their compensations than other motors in relationships of dependability, sound, efficiency, preliminary torque and longevity. To achieve the operation more reliable and less noisy, brushless dc motors are employed. In the proposed work, dissimilar methods of speed control are analysed. In real time submission of speed control of BLDC motor, numerous strategies are executed for the speed control singularity. The modified approaches are the employment of PI controller, use of PID controller and proposed current controller.
This paper presents simulation and experimental results of anti-windup PI controller to improve induction machine speed control based on direct torque control (DTC) strategy. Problems like rollover can arise in conventional PI controller due to saturation effect. In order to avoid such problems anti-windup PI controller is presented. This controller is simple for implementation in practice. The proposed anti-windup PI controller demonstrates better dynamic step changes response in speed in terms of overshoots. All simulation work was done using Simulink in the MATLAB software. The experimental results were obtained by practical implementation on a dSPACE 1104 board for a 1.5 KW induction machine. Simulation and experimental results have proven a good performance and verified the validity of the presented control strategy.
This paper presents an enhanced nonlinear PID (NPID) controller to follow a preselected speed profile of brushless DC motor drive system. This objective should be achieved regardless the parameter variations, and external disturbances. The performance of enhanced NPID controller will be investigated by comparing it with linear PID control and fractional order PID (FOPID) control. These controllers are tested for both speed regulation and speed tracking. The optimal parameters values of each control technique were obtained using Genetic Algorithm (GA) based on a certain cost function. Results shows that the proposed NPID controller has better performance among other techniques (PID and FOPID controller).
STATOR FLUX OPTIMIZATION ON DIRECT TORQUE CONTROL WITH FUZZY LOGIC cscpconf
The Direct Torque Control (DTC) is well known as an effective control technique for high
performance drives in a wide variety of industrial applications and conventional DTC technique
uses two constant reference value: torque and stator flux. In this paper, fuzzy logic based stator
flux optimization technique for DTC drives that has been proposed. The proposed fuzzy logic
based stator flux optimizer self-regulates the stator flux reference using induction motor load situation without need of any motor parameters. Simulation studies have been carried out with Matlab/Simulink to compare the proposed system behaviors at vary load conditions. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed DTC technique has been improved and especially at low-load conditions torque ripple are greatly reduced with respect to the conventional DTC
Field oriented control and direct torque control are the most popular methods in high
performance industrial control applications for induction motors. Naturally, the strengths and
weaknesses of each control method are available. Therefore, the selection of optimum control
method is vitally important for many industrial applications. So, the advantages and the
disadvantages of both control methods have to be well defined. In this paper, a new and
different perspective has been presented regarding the comparison of the inverter switching
behaviours on the FOC and the DTC drivers. For this purpose, the experimental studies have
been carried out to compare the inverter switching frequencies and torque responses of
induction motors in the FOC and the DTC systems. The dSPACE 1103 controller board has
been programmed with Matlab/Simulink software. As expected, the experimental studies have
showed that the FOC controlled motors have had a lessened torque ripple. On the other hand,
the FOC controlled motor switching frequency has about 75% more than the DTC controlled.

the BLDC motor drive characteristics, because it is difficult to handle by using conventional proportionalintegral
(PI) controller. The BLDC motor is fed from the inverter where the rotor position and current
controller is the input. In order to overcome this main problem, the fuzzy logic control is learned continuously
and gradually becomes the main effective control. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by
develop simulation model in MATLAB-Simulink program. The simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy
logic controller (FLC) produce significant improvement control performance compare to the PI controller for
both condition controlling speed reference variations and load disturbance variations. Fuzzy logic is introduced
in order to suppressing the chattering and enhancing the robustness of the controlled system. Fuzzy boundary
layer is developed to provide smother transition to the equivalent control. Smaller overshoot in the speed
response and much better disturbance rejecting capabilities.
Low cost Real Time Centralized Speed Control of DC Motor Using Lab View -NI U...IJPEDS-IAES
DC motors are an outstanding portion of apparatus used in automotive and automation industrial applications requiring variable speed and load characteristics, due to its ease of controllability. Creating an interface control system for multi DC motor drive operations with centralized speed control, from small-scale models to large industrial applications is in much demand. By using Lab VIEW (laboratory virtual instrument engineering workbench) as the motor controller, we can control a DC motor for multiple purposes using single software environment. The aim of this paper is to propose the centralized speed control of DC motor using Lab VIEW. Here, Lab VIEW is used for simulating the motor, whereas the input armature voltage of the DC motor is controlled using a virtual Knob in Lab VIEW software. The hardware part of the system (DC motor) and the software (in personal computer) are interfaced using a data acquisition card (DAQ) -Model PCI- 6024E. The voltage and Speed response is obtained using LABVIEW software. Using this software, the speed of a group of motors can be controlled from different locations using remote telemetry. The proposed work also focuses on controlling the speed of the individual DC motor using PWM scheme (Duty cycle based Square wave generation) and DAQ. With the help of the DAQ along with Lab VIEW front panel window, the DC motor speed and directions can be changed easily in remote way. In order to test the proposed system the laboratory model for an80W DC motor group (multi drive) is developed for different angular displacements and directions of the motor. The simulation model and experimental results conforms the advantages and robustness of the proposed centralized speed control.

The aim of this thesis is to show how DC motor can be controlled by using PID controller in MATLAB. The development of the PID controller with the mathematical model of DC motor is done using automatic tuning method. The PID parameter is to be test with an actual motor also with the PID controller in MATLAB Simulink. In this paper describe the results to demonstrate the effectiveness and the proposed of this PID controller produce significant improvement control performance and advantages of the control system DC motor. To design and implementation of variable and constant with no load for induction motor (IM) that is the goal in this work. This paper was including three parts, first the simulation model with no load for IM, Second the simulation model with constant load for IM, Third the simulation model with variable load for IM. In addition, this work includes comparative between two different controllers (PI and fuzzy logic control (FLC). The simulation results clearly the implementation of variable and constant with no load for IM. The simulation response of the system achieves better results when choosing to use type fuzzy-PI controller technique comparison with conventional PI controller and improve the performance of the system at different operation conditions.
DTC Scheme for a Four-Switch Inverter-Fed PMBLDC Motor Emulating the Six-Swit...IJRST Journal
The paper deals with the direct torque control (DTC) of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives fed by four-switch three phase inverters (FSTPI) rather than six-switch inverters (SSTPI) in conventional drives. For any three phase inverter require six switches, but these switches are reduced to four. This reduction of power switches from six to four improves the reliability of the inverter, size of the inverter is reduced and cost of the inverter is also reduces. The FSTPI could be regarded as a reconfigured topology of the SSTPI in case of a switch/leg failure which represents a crucial reliability benefit for many applications especially in electric and hybrid propulsion systems. The DTC of FSTPI-fed BLDC motor drives is treated considering two strategies, such as: 1) DTC-1: a strategy inspired from the one intended to SSTPI-fed BLDC motor drives; 2) DTC-2: a strategy that considers a dedicated vector selection subtable in order to independently control the torques developed by the phases connected to the FSTPI legs during their simultaneous conduction. The operational principle of the four-switch BLDC motor drive and the developed control scheme are theoretically analyzed and the performance is demonstrated by simulation.

Three-phase induction motor (TIM) is widely used in industrial application like paper mills, water treatment and sewage plants in the urban area. In these applications, the speed of TIM is very important that should be not varying with applied load torque. In this study, direct on line (DOL) motor starting without controller is modelled to evaluate the motor response when connected directly to main supply. Conventional PI controller for stator direct current and stator quadrature current of induction motor are designed as an inner loop controller as well as a second conventional PI controller is designed in the outer loop for controlling the TIM speed. Proposed combined PI-lead (CPIL) controllers for inner and outer loops are designed to improve the overall performance of the TIM as compared with the conventional controller. In this paper, dynamic adjustment grasshopper optimization algorithm (DAGOA) is proposed for tuning the proposed controller of the system. Numerical results based on well-selected test function demonstrate that DAGOA has a better performance in terms of speed of convergence, solution accuracy and reliability than SGOA. The study results revealed that the currents and speed of TIM system using CPIL-DAGOA are faster than system using conventional PI and CPIL controllers tuned by SGOA. Moreover, the speed controller of TIM system with CPIL controlling scheme based on DAGOA reached the steady state faster than others when applied load torque.
In this paper, several methods are developed to control the brushless DC (BLDC) motor speed. Since it is difficult to get a good showing by utilizing classical PID controller, the Dynamic Wavelet Neural Network (DWNN) is the proposed work in this paper, with parallel PID controller to obtain an novel controller named DWNN-PID controller. It collects the artificial neural ability of its networks for imparting from motor of BLDC with drive system and the ability of identification for the wavelet decomposition and control of the dynamic system furthermore to have ability for adapting and self-learning. The suggested controller method is utilizing to control the speed of BLDC motor of which supply a better showing than utilizing classical controllers with a wide range of control. The proposed controller parameters are matched continuously using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The simulation results based on proposed DWNN-PID controller demonstrate a superior in the stability and performance compared at utilizing classical WNN-PID and conventional PID controllers. The simulation results are accomplished using Matlab/Simulink. It shows that the proposed control scheme has a superior performance.
This research presents a very important industrial issue of controlling the production target, despite changing loads. Engines of various types, whether synchronous or synchronous, operate on single and three phase AC, DC motors or special motors such as stepper and servo. In all these motors, the speed control of the torque and speed of the above motors has gained considerable importance. There are three main ways reviewed in the current search, the second that completes the previous research referred to in the references. The three methods are PID method, LQR method and feeding –forward control methods. A real DC motor was used in electrical engineering machine laboratory at University of Diyala, Iraq. Where the actual parameters of the DC motor were actually calculated. The practical parameters were then integrated into the three control method Matlab codes for the purpose of comparing the results and representing the motor performance in the indicated control methods.
The aim of this research is the speed tracking of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using an intelligent Neural-Network based adapative backstepping control. First, the model of PMSM in the Park synchronous frame is derived. Then, the PMSM speed regulation is investigated using the classical method utilizing the field oriented control theory. Thereafter, a robust nonlinear controller employing an adaptive backstepping strategy is investigated in order to achieve a good performance tracking objective under motor parameters changing and external load torque application. In the final step, a neural network estimator is integrated with the adaptive controller to estimate the motor parameters values and the load disturbance value for enhancing the effectiveness of the adaptive backstepping controller. The robsutness of the presented control algorithm is demonstrated using simulation tests. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that the presented NN-adaptive control algorithm can provide good trackingperformances for the speed trackingin the presence of motor parameter variation and load application.
This paper presents a fast and accurate fault detection, classification and direction discrimination algorithm of transmission lines using one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (1D-CNNs) that have ingrained adaptive model to avoid the feature extraction difficulties and fault classification into one learning algorithm. A proposed algorithm is directly usable with raw data and this deletes the need of a discrete feature extraction method resulting in more effective protective system. The proposed approach based on the three-phase voltages and currents signals of one end at the relay location in the transmission line system are taken as input to the proposed 1D-CNN algorithm. A 132kV power transmission line is simulated by Matlab simulink to prepare the training and testing data for the proposed 1D- CNN algorithm. The testing accuracy of the proposed algorithm is compared with other two conventional methods which are neural network and fuzzy neural network. The results of test explain that the new proposed detection system is efficient and fast for classifying and direction discrimination of fault in transmission line with high accuracy as compared with other conventional methods under various conditions of faults.
Among the most widespread renewable energy sources is solar energy; Solar panels offer a green, clean, and environmentally friendly source of energy. In the presence of several advantages of the use of photovoltaic systems, the random operation of the photovoltaic generator presents a great challenge, in the presence of a critical load. Among the most used solutions to overcome this problem is the combination of solar panels with generators or with the public grid or both. In this paper, an energy management strategy is proposed with a safety aspect by using artificial neural networks (ANNs), in order to ensure a continuous supply of electricity to consumers with a maximum solicitation of renewable energy.
In this paper, the artificial neural network (ANN) has been utilized for rotating machinery faults detection and classification. First, experiments were performed to measure the lateral vibration signals of laboratory test rigs for rotor-disk-blade when the blades are defective. A rotor-disk-blade system with 6 regular blades and 5 blades with various defects was constructed. Second, the ANN was applied to classify the different x- and y-axis lateral vibrations due to different blade faults. The results based on training and testing with different data samples of the fault types indicate that the ANN is robust and can effectively identify and distinguish different blade faults caused by lateral vibrations in a rotor. As compared to the literature, the present paper presents a novel work of identifying and classifying various rotating blade faults commonly encountered in rotating machines using ANN. Experimental data of lateral vibrations of the rotor-disk-blade system in both x- and y-directions are used for the training and testing of the network.
This paper focuses on the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, which is a nonlinear optimization problem. is proposed to find the optimal power flow (OPF). To solve this problem, we will apply the ABC algorithm to a power system incorporating wind power. The proposed approach is applied on a standard IEEE-30 system with wind farms located on different buses and with different penetration levels to show the impact of wind farms on the system in order to obtain the optimal settings of control variables of the OPF problem. Based on technical results obtained, the ABC algorithm is shown to achieve a lower cost and losses than the other methods applied, while incorporating wind power into the system, high performance would be gained.
The significance of the solar energy is to intensify the effectiveness of the Solar Panel with the use of a primordial solar tracking system. Here we propounded a solar positioning system with the use of the global positioning system (GPS) , artificial neural network (ANN) and image processing (IP) . The azimuth angle of the sun is evaluated using GPS which provide latitude, date, longitude and time. The image processing used to find sun image through which centroid of sun is calculated and finally by comparing the centroid of sun with GPS quadrate to achieve optimum tracking point. Weather conditions and situation observed through AI decision making with the help of IP algorithms. The presented advance adaptation is analyzed and established via experimental effects which might be made available on the memory of the cloud carrier for systematization. The proposed system improve power gain by 59.21% and 10.32% compare to stable system (SS) and two-axis solar following system (TASF) respectively. The reduced tracking error of IoT based Two-axis solar following system (IoT-TASF) reduces their azimuth angle error by 0.20 degree.
Kosovo has limited renewable energy resources and its power generation sector is based on fossil fuels. Such a situation emphasizes the importance of active research and efficient use of renewable energy potential. According to the analysis of meteorological data for Kosovo, it can be concluded that among the most attractive potential wind power sites are the locations known as Kitka (42° 29' 41" N and 21° 36' 45" E) and Koznica (42° 39′ 32″ N, 21° 22′30″E). The two terrains in which the analysis was carried out are mountain areas, with altitudes of 1142 m (Kitka) and 1230 m (Koznica). the same measuring height, about 84 m above the ground, is obtained for these average wind speeds: Kitka 6,667 m/s and Koznica 6,16 m/s. Since the difference in wind speed is quite large versus a difference in altitude that is not being very large, analyses are made regarding the terrain characteristics including the terrain relief features. In this paper it will be studied how much the roughness of the terrain influences the output energy. Also, that the assumption to be taken the same as to how much they will affect the annual energy produced.
Large-scale grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) station are increasing rapidly. However, this large penetration of PV system creates frequency fluctuation in the grid due to the intermittency of solar irradiance. Therefore, in this paper, a robust droop control mechanism of the battery energy storage system (BESS) is developed in order to damp the frequency fluctuation of the multi-machine grid system due to variable active power injected from the PV panel. The proposed droop control strategy incorporates frequency error signal and dead-band for effective minimization of frequency fluctuation. The BESS system is used to consume/inject an effective amount of active power based upon the frequency oscillation of the grid system. The simulation analysis is carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software to prove the effectiveness of the proposed droop control-based BESS system. The simulation result implies that the proposed scheme can efficiently curtail the frequency oscillation.
This study investigates experimentally the performance of two-dimensional solar tracking systems with reflector using commercial silicon based photovoltaic module, with open and closed loop control systems. Different reflector materials were also investigated. The experiments were performed at the Hashemite University campus in Zarqa at a latitude of 32⁰, in February and March. Photovoltaic output power and performance were analyzed. It was found that the modified photovoltaic module with mirror reflector generated the highest value of power, while the temperature reached a maximum value of 53 ̊ C. The modified module suggested in this study produced 5% more PV power than the two-dimensional solar tracking systems without reflector and produced 12.5% more PV power than the fixed PV module with 26⁰ tilt angle.
This paper focuses on the modeling and control of a wind energy conversion chain using a permanent magnet synchronous machine. This system behaves a turbine, a generator, DC/DC and DC/AC power converters. These are connected on both sides to the DC bus, where the inverter is followed by a filter which is connected to the grid. In this paper, we have been used two types of controllers. For the stator side converter, we consider the Takagi-Sugeno approach where the parameters of controller have been computed by the theory of linear matrix inequalities. The stability synthesis has been checked using the Lyapunov theory. According to the grid side converter, the proportional integral controller is exploited to keep a constant voltage on the DC bus and control both types of powers. The simulation results demonstrate the robustness of the approach used.
The development of modeling wind speed plays a very important in helping to obtain the actual wind speed data for the benefit of the power plant planning in the future. The wind speed in this paper is obtained from a PCE-FWS 20 type measuring instrument with a duration of 30 minutes which is accumulated into monthly data for one year (2019). Despite the many wind speed modeling that has been done by researchers. Modeling wind speeds proposed in this study were obtained from the modified Rayleigh distribution. In this study, the Rayleigh scale factor (Cr) and modified Rayleigh scale factor (Cm) were calculated. The observed wind speed is compared with the predicted wind characteristics. The data fit test used correlation coefficient (R2), root means square error (RMSE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). The results of the proposed modified Rayleigh model provide very good results for users.
This paper deals with an advanced design for a pump powered by solar energyto supply agricultural lands with water and also the maximum power point is used to extract the maximum value of the energy available inside the solar panels and comparing between techniques MPPT such as Incremental conductance, perturb & observe, fractional short current circuit, and fractional open voltage circuit to find the best technique among these. The solar system is designed with main parts: photovoltaic (PV) panel, direct current/direct current (DC/DC) converter, inverter, filter, and in addition, the battery is used to save energy in the event that there is an increased demand for energy and not to provide solar radiation, as well as saving energy in the case of generation more than demand. This work was done using the matrix laboratory (MATLAB) simulink program.

Bangladesh has a huge opportunity to accelerate its economic development while increasing energy access, livelihoods, and health for millions of people in a sustainable way due to the renewable energy system.
When the irradiance distribution over the photovoltaic panels is uniform, the pursuit of the maximum power point is not reached, which has allowed several researchers to use traditional MPPT techniques to solve this problem Among these techniques a PSO algorithm is used to have the maximum global power point (GMPPT) under partial shading. On the other hand, this one is not reliable vis-à-vis the pursuit of the MPPT. Therefore, in this paper we have treated another technique based on a new modified PSO algorithm so that the power can reach its maximum point. The PSO algorithm is based on the heuristic method which guarantees not only the obtaining of MPPT but also the simplicity of control and less expensive of the system. The results are obtained using MATLAB show that the proposed modified PSO algorithm performs better than conventional PSO and is robust to different partial shading models.
A stable operation of wind turbines connected to the grid is an essential requirement to ensure the reliability and stability of the power system. To achieve such operational objective, installing static synchronous compensator static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) as a main compensation device guarantees the voltage stability enhancement of the wind farm connected to distribution network at different operating scenarios. STATCOM either supplies or absorbs reactive power in order to ensure the voltage profile within the standard-margins and to avoid turbine tripping, accordingly. This paper present new study that investigates the most suitable-location to install STATCOM in a distribution system connected wind farm to maintain the voltage-levels within the stability margins. For a large-scale squirrel cage induction generator squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG-based) wind turbine system, the impact of STATCOM installation was tested in different places and voltage-levels in the distribution system. The proposed method effectiveness in enhancing the voltage profile and balancing the reactive power is validated, the results were repeated for different scenarios of expected contingencies. The voltage profile, power flow, and reactive power balance of the distribution system are observed using MATLAB/Simulink software.
The electrical and environmental parameters of polymer solar cells (PSC) provide important information on their performance. In the present article we study the influence of temperature on the voltage-current (I-V) characteristic at different temperatures from 10 °C to 90 °C, and important parameters like bandgap energy Eg, and the energy conversion efficiency η. The one-diode electrical model, normally used for semiconductor cells, has been tested and validated for the polemeral junction. The PSC used in our study are formed by the poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). Our technique is based on the combination of two steps; the first use the Least Mean Squares (LMS) method while the second use the Newton-Raphson algorithm. The found results are compared to other recently published works, they show that the developed approach is very accurate. This precision is proved by the minimal values of statistical errors (RMSE) and the good agreement between both the experimental data and the I-V simulated curves. The obtained results show a clear and a monotonic dependence of the cell efficiency on the studied parameters.
The inverter is the principal part of the photovoltaic (PV) systems that assures the direct current/alternating current (DC/AC) conversion (PV array is connected directly to an inverter that converts the DC energy produced by the PV array into AC energy that is directly connected to the electric utility). In this paper, we present a simple method for detecting faults that occurred during the operation of the inverter. These types of faults or faults affect the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the photovoltaic system, especially the inverter, which is the main component responsible for the conversion. Hence, we have shown first the faults obtained in the case of the short circuit. Second, the open circuit failure is studied. The results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. Good monitoring and detection of faults in the inverter can increase the system's reliability and decrease the undesirable faults that appeared in the PV system. The system behavior is tested under variable parameters and conditions using MATLAB/Simulink.
The electrical distribution network is undergoing tremendous modifications with the introduction of distributed generation technologies which have led to an increase in fault current levels in the distribution network. Fault current limiters have been developed as a promising technology to limit fault current levels in power systems. Though, quite a number of fault current limiters have been developed; the most common are the superconducting fault current limiters, solid-state fault current limiters, and saturated core fault current limiters. These fault current limiters present potential fault current limiting solutions in power systems. Nevertheless, they encounter various challenges hindering their deployment and commercialization. This research aimed at designing a bridge-type nonsuperconducting fault current limiter with a novel topology for distribution network applications. The proposed bridge-type nonsuperconducting fault current limiter was designed and simulated using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results showed the effectiveness of the proposed design in fault current limiting, voltage sag compensation during fault conditions, and its ability not to affect the load voltage and current during normal conditions as well as in suppressing the source powers during fault conditions. Simulation results also showed very minimal power loss by the fault current limiter during normal conditions.
This paper provides a new approach to reducing high-order harmonics in 400 Hz inverter using a three-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) converter. A voltage control loop using the harmonic compensation combined with NPC clamping diode control technology. The capacitor voltage imbalance also causes harmonics in the output voltage. For 400 Hz inverter, maintain a balanced voltage between the two input (direct current) (DC) capacitors is difficult because the pulse width modulation (PWM) modulation frequency ratio is low compared to the frequency of the output voltage. A method of determining the current flowing into the capacitor to control the voltage on the two balanced capacitors to ensure fast response reversal is also given in this paper. The combination of a high-harmonic resonator controller and a neutral-point voltage controller working together on the 400 Hz NPC inverter structure is given in this paper.
Direct current (DC) electronic load is a useful equipment for testing the electrical system. It can emulate various load at a high rating. The electronic load requires a power converter to operate and a linear regulator is a common option. Nonetheless, it is hard to control due to the temperature variation. This paper proposed a DC electronic load using the boost converter. The proposed electronic load operates in the continuous current mode and control using the integral controller. The electronic load using the boost converter is compared with the electronic load using the linear regulator. The results show that the boost converter able to operate as an electronic load with an error lower than 0.5% and response time lower than 13 ms.

R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

This work presents a fast response and stable computer based a brushed DC
motor speed controller. The controller configured of gate drive circuits for H-
Bridge accompanied with data acquisition unit DAQ-6211. These gate drive
circuits include, phase comparator, current booster and wave forms cleaning
circuits. An optical encoder is used for motor speed to frequency conversion.
The CD4046 PLL chip compares phases of the encoder output frequency
(motor speed) with a reference frequency (desired speed). The obtained
phase difference (error) is used to allocate the suitable PWM duty cycles. An
H-Bridge BJT switches driven by PWM is interfaced with the motor. The
system hardware is provided with a simple and accurate data acquisition unit
DAQ-6211 to be interfaced with the LabVIEW software Package. This
allows monitoring and storing the different measured data of this platform.
The system relative stability is determined and examined based on the Bode
plot analysis and design. Then the relative stability criterion (Phase Margin)
is measured the closed-loop stability of the system. This system considers the
fast feedback response with indication of its stability state as well as the
stable wide dynamic range. It compensates the changes in system parameters
due to the environmental effects and other disturbances.

1. INTRODUCTION
The DC motors have been popular in the industry control area for a long time, because they have
many good characteristics, for example: high start torque, fast response performance, easier to be linear
control [1]. The different control approach depends on the different performance of motors. The DC motor
control is then riper than other kinds of motors no matter in the theoretic study or in the research and
development of the application technology. However, the technique of instrument design also moves forward
the times of "virtual instrument”, not only the designing time is shortened, but also the designing space is
more elastic extension [2].
Usually control system does not remain constant throughout its life cycle, so there are always
changes in system parameters because of environmental effects and other perturbations and disturbances.
These changes and affections are called parameter variations (gain and stability, temperature, supply voltage
variations and/or external disturbances) where can be studied using mathematical and physical term
expressions to illustrate entire control system change. The more keeping prosperities control system with
entire changes the lesser sensitivity of control system [1, 3].

This paper designs a control circuit to supervise and control the speed response of the DC motor
with the virtual instrument graphic monitor software LabVIEW [4]. To control the speed and display the
changes of rotational speed of the motor with assessment relative stability [17] by instantaneous monitoring
phase difference angle (Φ) as the phase shift between desired and actual signals on PLL output, the better
response of the system can be achieved by using the NI USB-6211 data acquisition (DAQ) [1, 5] that will
read the data of the control circuit for transmitting the signal using in real time to PC. This does not require
transfer functions, just experimental frequency response data of the (stable) open-loop system are necessary
to judge the closed-loop stability [6, 7]. Because the DAQ card has the capability of the data storage,
calculating, analysis, Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) and DAC conversion [19]
2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The system configured of a permanent magnet DC motor, DC power supply, photo electric encoder
B83609, motor control board, DAQ card NI USB-6211 accompanied with the NI-LabVIEW package [13] as
shown in Figure 1. It is described and explained briefly as follows:

2.1. Hardware implementation
This circuit consists of phase locked loop (PLL - CD4046), passive low pass filter (LPF) [8], current
amplifier, (regulator LM7805) and (Schmitt trigger 74HC14) as shown in Figure 2.

The system operation includes both hardware and software modules. Using the LabVIEW program,
the system allows the user to monitor the actual motor speed in addition to take direct action when

the desired speed is out of the control range. This is accomplished with sampling rate of 2.5 kHz for each of
the four channels of the developed system [20]. The speed error leads to the average voltage adjustment
which will be applied to the driver of the motor after its filtering and amplification. The DC motor speed is
measured using (DAS) kit for the control system. The system master clock is internally generated in the PLL.
This PLL (CD4046) receives both the actual and the reference speeds. The PLL average voltage error is
smoothed and applied to motor drive circuits. Furthermore, the optimized LPF of an adjustable cut off
frequency that is according to the selected reference frequency makes two individual functions. The first
function is required for noise immunity and the second is working as a lead/lag compensator [23]. The LPF is
considered as essential stability issue and used for system final tuning [11]. For good driving of the motor,
single (2N2222) current booster has been used to reinforce the signal after noise rejection. Quad chopper of
four transistors (2N3055) is used to provide the rating current which is suitable to the DC motor and speed
redirection. On the other hand, the developed LabVIEW modules are used for monitoring the speed, stability,
and time response [21].
2.2. Software Implementation
The software of this work is configured of the following modules:
2.2.1. LabVIEW Programs
The LabVIEW is the most dominant package used for creating, testing and measurement, of the
equid data acquisition systems. The LabVIEW systems are broadly classified into, monitoring, logging, and
interactive or smart systems [12]. The control system of this work monitors the DC motor speed using the
LabVIEW program virtual instruments (VIS) and reads the actual motor feedback and the reference speeds
[10]. The reading is performed as RPM and the analogue voltage output of the system in four test points
(reference signal, feedback signal, PLL output, current amplifier output) as shown in Figure 2. The front
panel and block diagram compile of LabVIEW on PC under windows 8.1 are showing in Figure 3 and
Figure 4.

3. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS
The practical system parameters are used for the system relative stability evolution [16, 18]. The
system was built and tested using a DC motor with speed of 1200 rpm and voltage 12 Volt and current 0.8
Ampere. The rotary encoder has 20 pulses per revolution (ppr). The range of speed control is from 40 rpm to
600 rpm Thus, the system block diagram and its gain (K=1.1) is shown in Figure 6, thus transfer function of
loop transmission with VI LabVIEW program code as in Figure 7.

3.1. Experimental results of the PLL.
The core of the system controller is the PLL designed to receive both the reference (desired)
frequency and the feedback frequency that corresponding to the actual motor speed [24, 25]. An encoder has
been coupled with the motor shaft in order to converge the speed to frequency. The PLL receives, both the
motor actual and the reference frequencies [14]. According to the phase error of these two frequencies, the
PLL provides a suitable duty cycle for driving the DC motor [15]. The variations in the PLL output due to the
PLL input phase difference are displayed in Figure 8.

The following figures are the experimental comparison explanation cases at different speeds related
to the control circuit to follow up or monitoring it using four measuring points on circuit to be sure that
the dynamic behavior of the control circuit of the system is in the normal case. There are four points pertaining
to four channels on DAQ (CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4) as demonstrated in Figure 9 and Figure 10. All these
channels are recorded simultaneously on DAQ channels (AI0, AI1, AI2, A3). The channel CH1 assign to
Reference signal (white color), CH2 to Feedback signal (red color), CH3 to comparator out from PLL (green
color), CH4 to PWM input signal (blue color).

3.2. System response for different loads
The LabVIEW software modules are the speed control, stability, and time response on the system
monitors [22]. Some of the PLL output-controlled phase difference angle (Φ) that are corresponding to the
different loads are listed in Table 1.

The motor operation modes according to the external load can be arranged through five different motor speed
[9], which are:

For no load up to the 100gm, the motor is still lockout and no effective duty cycle of the PLL that
leads the motor speed to be lock-in. For a load of 150gm the motor starts the lock-in (stable operational range)
and keep constant speed up to around 535gm as shown in Figure 11. One can see that the duties (2.5ms, 3.5ms
and 4.75ms) cycles change according to the given loads 150gm, 280gm and 535gm respectively.

Locked-in motor speed range is located start from the no load condition, up to 280gm with constant
speed. The motor had locked-out at load of 535gm resulting in an unstable operation as shown in fig 12.
However, the duties 2ms, 2.2ms, 3ms, 3.5ms cycle are due to the given no load, 100gm, 150gm, 280gm
respectively, the load 535gm resulting in unknown duty outgoing the stable operational zone.

4. CONCLUSION
Digital control for the DC motor based on computer system has been designed, experimentally
implemented and elaborated. The PLL is used as phase and frequency comparator for measuring the speed
drift w.r.t the desired reference speed. Simple and easy to use LabVIEW were has been used to achieve the
suggested approach of the DC motor speed control. The system has been developed to include the graphical
user interface using LabVIEW software as well as the DAQ-6211 module of national instruments. The
system shows that the widest stable range is located at the measured speed range of (290 rpm to 378 rpm) for
the all selected loads (100g up to 535g in 5 steps). The Bode plot of the system loop transmission shows that
the system relative stability depends on both the load and the phase margin.
