Theory of Gestalt Therapy
Theory of Gestalt Therapy
What is Gestalt Therapy? This is a question that has divided therapists for decades. Although Gestalt
Therapy is based on a set of techniques, it is ultimately the therapist own defined style that makes it
unique from the theatrical techniques of Fritz Perls to the one on one approach of Jim Simken.
According to G.M. Yontef (Awareness, Dialogue and Process Pg 203), Gestalt Therapyis: 1. a
bringing about of awareness 2. it is based on the I and Thou contact withdrawal process 3. its world
view is based on holism and field theory
Each and every one of us seeks to make sense of life s events, and as such a considerable amount
of time is spent in trying to analyse and explain these events. ... Show more content on

Premature closure feels better that leaving it open, but since the need is still unmet, it will continue
to demand attention. The result is a fixation on the part of the individual to resolve his unfinished
business .
Another aspect of contact is that contact itself is but the highlight of a contact withdrawal cycle ,
i.e. a cycle that occurs and reoccurs. Habitually, the therapist backs off and comes back again,
listening quietly without straining to figure everything out; information is given in a calm but
impersonal manner. It is important that the session itself develops a natural rhythm. Meaningful
contact cannot be attained or attempted every second. The client also needs to work hard to
attain contact, and if there is a pattern of inequality then it is best to change it. If the therapist is
doing all the work, than the client s needs may not be met or the therapist may be feeding into
their desire to be spoon fed. If on the other hand the client is doing much more of the work, then
the therapist may need to loosen up and give more of himself. Sometimes, the therapist may need to
have the client be still and quiet so that he can do the work.
The client therapist relationship is an important part of Gestalt Therapy. This I Thou relationship is
a contact between two genuine people rather

A Comparison Of Art In Wiggins s Of Mice And Men
The project this group presented to the class would happen to be a Prezi presentation. The Prezi
presentation was complete with descriptions and comparisons of not only characters, but also of
style, technique, settings, themes, cultural influences, symbols, art based off of the novels, and
some rabbit clip art. The art ties into each novel in its own, specific ways. The first piece, which
is untitled, shows white silhouettes of Lennie and George standing inside the black silhouette of
a rabbit. This shows how their dream, of owning a rabbit farm, was bigger than the both of them,
and that to do it, they would require help. Another piece, Of Mice and Men by Mick Wiggins,
shows the close friendship between George and Lennie, and how for the longest time, it was really
only the both of them on their travels together. Meanwhile, the final piece, The Departure of the
Joads by Thomas Hart Bennon, shows the dreariness of the Okies situation, along with a symbol of
hope for the future shown by the light shining radiantly from beyond their vehicle. Many of
Steinbeck s characters can be rather cruel, and downright mean to other characters if... Show more

From his in depth descriptions of characters and scenery to even how he focuses on internal
conflict, and questionable moral choices and decisions, he shows a consistency in his writing
and a signature patterns that hardcore fans of his work can pick out. One of the other techniques
Steinbeck heavily enjoys is setting. Steinbeck uses in depth descriptions of scenery in order to
set the scene . Almost whole chapters in The Grapes of Wrath are dedicated to setting the scene
for the next chapter, proving just how much Steinbeck relied on these. From his descriptions of
the dying land in The Grapes of Wrath to the peaceful secret place to the dream of Of Mice and
Men , Steinbeck knows how to use descriptive language to manipulate how a reader is

Adolf Hitler Cruelty
Hitler once said, I would have killed all the jews of the world, but I kept some to show the world
why I killed them ( Talk:Adolf Hitler ). This shows how Adolf Hitler was very cruel during the
Holocaust. Hitler wasn t the only very cruel Nazi in the Third Reich, there were also many others
that committed heinous crimes to the Jews. The first Major Nazi leader is Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler
was born on April 20, 1889. Born in Braunau Am Inn, Austria and baptized as a Catholic. By the
time Hitler was 9 years old him and his family had moved to Linz, Austria, which was the Capital
of upper Austria. While growing up Hitler wanted to be an artist, and when his father had died he

Party otherwise known as the Third Reich. Fast forward another 6 years later Hitler had started the

million Jews. ( Timeline of Events ) Another Horrible Nazi, even though all of them were, named
Paul Blobel born on August 13 1894, In Potsdam, Germany. Paul Grew up to be a Soldier in the
German army who had served with Hitler in World War 1. While Paul had served through World

worked in the SS unit during the Holocaust he ended up taking care of the Gas chambers and Gas
vans.
Blobel was so nasty that he had organized what is now an infamous massacre of 33,771 Kiev Jews.
This massacre took place in the Babi Yar Ravine which is the same place he buried all of his jews.
Blobel also had said something very odd about the Babi Yar Ravine to his Jewish car driver. Blobel
said to his driver This is where my Jews are buried (Paul Blobel). Blobel was also in charge of some
of the Gas Vans and Chambers, he was also in charge if hiding all the bodies the Jews incinerated
and killed. A total of about 55,900 Jews were incinerated, gassed, or just killed by Blobel. Blobel

Leibniz Rationalism
Rationalism is the principle that maintains that through reason alone we can gain at least some
positive knowledge of the world. The three major rationalists, Rene Descartes, Baruch Spinoza and
Gottfried Welhelm Leibniz, used this idea in order to defy skepticism and expose the true nature of
reality. However, each philosopher is frequently in disagreement. The idea for God , and what
constitutes substance, matter and reality are the four key structural beliefs that aid each rationalist
in the forming of their arguments. Yet, it is these four concepts and the arguments behind them that
cause the inconsistency found in rationalism. The idea that reason can provide positive solutions to
the various questions put forth is made doubtful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, relatedly, the monad must not only exhibit properties, but contain within itself virtually or
potentially all the properties it will exhibit in the future, and also contain the trace of all the
properties it did exhibit in the past. In Leibniz s extraordinary phrase, found frequently in his later
work, the monad is pregnant with the future and laden with the past (Monadology, p22). All these
properties are folded up within the monad, and they unfold when and as they have sufficient
reason to do so. (Monadology p61) The network of explanation is indivisible to divide it would
either leave some predicates without a sufficient reason, or merely separate two substances that
never belonged together in the first place. Correspondingly, the monad is one, simple and
indivisible.
Everything we perceive around us, which is a unified being, must be a single monad. Everything
else is a composite of many monads. My coffee cup, for example, is made of many monads (an
infinite number, actually). In everyday life, we tend to call it a single thing only because the
monads all act together. My soul, however, and the soul of every other living thing, is a single
monad which controls a composite body. Leibniz thus says that at least for living things we must
posit substantial forms, as the principle of the unity of certain living composites. My

Compare And Contrast Sonnet 60 And 64
Sonnets 60 and 64 are about the effects of time. This is a recurrent theme in Shakespeare s
poems. Through the use of imagery, Shakespeare provides relatable experiences to describe the
passage of time. Sonnet 60 provides three examples of the passage of time the first is waves
moving towards a shore, the second is a child growing to maturity, and the third is time s effects on
the beauty of youth. Sonnet 64 provides three of Shakespeare s personal experiences the first is
time s effects on towers and brass, the second is the ocean and a shore, the third is the change of
condition of things. Both sonnets have similarities and differences in themes, structure, and speech
acts.
Sonnets 60 and 64 have a similar theme of Time destroying things and eventually taking his love
away. The difference is that sonnet 60 has a more hopeful ending than sonnet 64. In the couplet of
sonnet 60 Shakespeare has hope that his verse will stand against time and the poem ... Show more

In both sonnets the word confound is used to describe the actions of Time. This word in both
sonnets express the destructive nature of Time. Also, in sonnet 64 there is a sonic pattern. 10 of
the 14 lines end with a word that contains a long a sound for example: defaced, age, razed, rage,
gain, main, state, decay, ruminate, and away. This repetition could symbolize that Time s effects
are constant. The poem also ends with the word lose so this could mean Time s effects are
constant until the thing it is effecting is lost. There is one subject per quatrain in sonnet 60. In
quatrain one the subject is waves, quatrain two the subject is nativity, and in quatrain three the
subject is Time. In sonnet 64 there is only one main subject and verb which is I and the verb is
Seen . However, in the couplet of sonnet 64 the subject is ambiguous. It could be the thought or
death that is doing the action of weeping for something that it will

Analysis Of Hank Morgan s A Connecticut Yankee
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court tells the story of a Connecticut Yankee, Hank
Morgan, being sent back in time to King Arthur s Court, in 528. During the story, Hank learns
much about himself and others. From his experiences, the novel as a whole tries to convey the idea
that Hank has much to learn from the medieval time period and its people, even though it might not
be transparent to him. During the story, Hank believes he is superior to those in King Arthurs Court.
He feels that his Yankee can do attitude, capitalist beliefs, technological advances and democratic
ideals put him a step above everyone in the medieval time. From his stubbornness to improve a
society that does not really need improvement, Hank blinds himself from learning human values
that would only be beneficial for himself and the Americans of his time. These positive aspects
of life include hospitality, trust, unity, and loyalty. As a result of Hank s efforts to change these
people, he eventually destroys their society, further proving the point that his way of life is not
the only way to live; as well as showing it is far from the best way to live. To begin with, Hank s
human nature and values are essentially based off of his circumstances. His time period is full of
new opportunities and possibilities. These opportunities include new jobs, better technology, and
new ways of thinking. These give the people a sense of optimism and a desire to want more. From
this desire, people want to go

The Failures Of Market Failure
Market failure, in economic terms, refers to a situation wherein the free market fails to efficiently
allocate the goods and services. Or in other words, during market failure, another conceivable
outcomes (non Pareto optimal) exist wherein a market participant is found to be made better off
without making anyone else worse off (Francis Bator, 1958). The failures in market can be seen as
the scenarios in which the pursuit of pure self interest of an individual leads to inefficient results as
per the societal point of view and bearing high chances of improvement. Basically, market failures
occur when the market lacks economic efficiency.
Market failures may occur due to a plenty of reasons including asymmetries in information,
externalities, monopoly, time inconsistent preferences, principal agent issues, public goods, or non
competitive markets etc. Therefore the market failure often requires the intervention of supra
national institutions and self regulated governments and organizations in that particular market
(Joseph Stiglitz, 1989). Micro economists are usually involved in the task of identifying potential
causes of market failure and suggesting appropriate corrective measures. An important role is
played by such an analysis in number of public policy studies and decision making. Historical
records show us that governmental interventions have various impacts on the economy of its
country. However, poorly implemented governmental attempts for correcting market failure

Research Paper On Persepolis
As soon as they learn our nationality, they go through everything, as though we were all
terrorists. They treat us as though we have the plague (Satrapi 203). Marjane Satrapi gives a first
hand account of what it was like being a child and growing up in Iran during the Iran Iraq War
(1980 1988) in The Complete Persepolis. Today, living in a world that treats Iranians as if they
were all bad guys, Marji shows the reader that not only are the Iranians being beat by their own
government but also by the world itself. It is not the Iranians who are the bad guys but merely those
who are running the country that have demolished the Iranian image. During the Islamic revolution
the government made it a priority to remove Westernized culture from Iran. By doing so, a very
religion centered power arose leading to the abolishment of many rights. Education, Western
influence, and equality were affected greatly. Iran s people pushed on suffering through what
seemed like a never ending war. The Complete Persepolis is a graphic novel in which Marjane
Satrapiuses the medium and simplistic style to protest the atrocities that occurred while growing

The Best Moment In My Life
Morning brought with it heavy rain, the nail like droplets pelleted against the rim of my helmet
and gathered in a puddle between my feet where I sat. The rippling pool brought a sense of
peacefulness to the harsh conditions the trenches brought. The rain muffled the sounds of stray
gunfire and stomach curdling screams, it helped to take my mind off of what were to come
over the course of the next few days. The things Ive seen will never be forgotten, visions of
people I considered brothers being torn apart by enemy fire only metres away from me
ingrained into my mind, sights of explosions crippling those anywhere near them constantly
relaying through my brain. I always thought fighting for my country would be my proudest
moment but no level of patriotism could prepare even the strongest willed of men for the
sadistic and unthinkable acts that take place here. Never in my life did I think I would kill a
man, a changed person I was the day we stormed the beach. Sure it was only days ago but I will
never forget that night, bullets hammering down from the steep cliffs, piercing the flesh and
muscle of anyone that were to stand in its way. The adrenaline made things feel unreal, screams,
gunshots, cries for help. I ve never ran so fast in my life, conveying from one form of cover to the
other with only hopes of making it out alive. It took 25 minutes to overcome the enemy s outpost
but it felt like an eternity, scaling the rocky cliff preparing myself to put an end to the

African Americans And Asian Americans
Model Minority has become a frequently used terms to categorize other cultures and systemize their
relationship to the rest of the world. Defined properly, model minority refers to minority groups that
have rates of socio economic assimilation and achieved a high level of success in today s western
society. The term has been used most often to describe Asian Americans, group seen as having
attained economic and education success at significantly higher rates than that of other minority
groups. Although first coined by sociologist William Petersen in 1966, the term model minority
was not popularized and nationalized as a reference to Asian Americans through radio and

The Condition of Children Orange County report states that in the 2011 2012 academic year, 7.4%
of Asian students dropped out of high school, which is higher than their white peers (4.6%).
Because of this, many schools do not accurately monitor, record, and report the dropout rates among
Asian Americans. As a result, many school districts throughout the nation do not realize the
significant number of Asian students they are losing because of a stereotype (Walker Moffat,
1995). In addition to underachievement and growing dropout rates among Asian Americans, the
increasing socioeconomic gap between Asians and whites also made the model minority stereotype
problematic. According to U.S. Census Bureau, the poverty rates among Asian Americangroups
(12.6%) remain elevated compared to that of their white counterparts and the overall national
average (12.4%).
The negative effects of the model minority myth and stereotypes are also evident in secondary and
post graduate education. Research shows that the false representation of Asian students has evolved
into the inaccurate view and additional stereotype that Asian students achieve their success through
dishonest means and threaten the success of their academic peers (Suzuki, 2002). For example, the
increased profiling of Asian students in higher education has resulted in directly adverse learning
environments that place additional negative views on their success (Yeh, 2002). Numerous

Overview
The largest unintentional marine oil spill in human history took place in the Gulf of Mexico in
the year 2010. The event resulted after methane gas was released and exploded in the BP owned
Macondo exploration well on April 20, 2010. The fire continued for 36 hours and the oil drilling
rig, Deepwater Horizon, sank on April 22, 2010. This event led to the loss of 11 lives and the spill
of about 4.9 million barrels of oil. The oil spill affected as much as 68,000 square miles. After long
efforts, the well was capped on July 15, 2010 and sealed two months later on September 19, 2010.

Bacon Rebellion Research Paper
Bacon Rebellion In 1676 a group of poor farmers rebelled against the government and William
Berkley a royal governor in Jamestown Virginia. Poor colonists had to settle outside of the
English Colony and into the frontier where the Natives had control. When indentured servants
were set free they also had nowhere to live except for the land on the frontier and use that land to
start farms and their lives. This created a problem because the poor farmers that were settling in
the frontier were being attacked by the Natives because there was no protection passed Jamestown
and it was dangerous because the Natives had control over all that land. The farmers were killing

They took the problem into their own hands After their demands were declined of forcing the
Natives out of the area, and the Rebellion began when Bacon and his men killed men, women,
and even kids at a village but he was captured by Jamestown. He was set free soon after to not

Essay On Motivations In Macbeth
Have you ever thought of why criminals do the wrong thing? It is probably because they have bad
intentions or motivations. Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. A brave Scottish
general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from three witches that one day soon he will become
the king of Scotland. With all the ambition inside of Macbethand all of the pressure being received
from Lady Macbeth, Macbeth kills King Duncan and becomes king himself. He then is filled with
guilt and paranoia. Forced into committing more murders to protect himself from suspicion ,
Macbeth soon becomes an oppressor.
In Macbeth, Macbeth, King Duncan, and Malcolm have different motivations which lead to
different actions.
The actions of Macbeth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is in strong contrast to Malcolm and Duncan as both of these characters have nothing to hide
and are not overwhelmed with guilt. Lastly, Malcolm and Duncan only kill those who are not noble
and trustworthy. In conclusion, this shows that the actions of Macbeth, Duncan, and Malcolm are
all different.
The motivations of Duncan, Macbeth, and Malcolm are all different. Macbeth is motivated by
greed, power, ambition, and his wife. Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth s manhood and calls him
a coward. In contrast, Malcolm and Duncan want what is right for the people and for Scotland.
They want everything to be just and they are noble men. For example, Macduff, this noble
passion, / Child of integrity, hath from my soul / Wiped the black scruples, reconciled my
thoughts / To thy good truth and honor (Shakespeare IV.iii.116 119). This proves that Malcolm
cares about loyalty among his people. Malcolm s motivations for Scotland are honorable. He wants
to restore peace and trust in Scotland. Also, Malcolm wants to be a good leader and restore the heir
to its rightful owner. This shows that Macbeth, Duncan, and Malcolm all have different motivations.
The motivations and actions of all three men have outcomes which have an effect on Scotland and
its society. In the tragedy, Macbeth kills Duncan the king of scotland. Macbeth does this because
he is greedy . Because of this, Scotland becomes turned upside down and is in turmoil. Macbeth
and Malcolm end up

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe vs. The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats

which is used in both. But as one closely examinee the reasons why both authors use this sentence,
one realizes that both of them try to show a great change, which, in the poem is related to reality,
while in the novel is related to the story.
It is important to mention that the two people who are comparable are not the poet and the writer

We can be more specific and see what the poet and writer exactly talk about. It is better to focus
on the poem first as it was written before the novel. In his poem William butler Yeatsis shocked by
the events which were happening during the First World War. Mere anarchy is loosed upon the
world, The blood dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned... ,
he tries to picture the dark ages of the war and the nasty events which were happening by using
some metaphors and similes such as a shape with lion body and the head of man or shadows of the
indignant desert birds Therefore, he manage to transmit the terrifying atmosphere of his time to the
reader. He can not stand this state of fairs so he thinks that it is the end and he hopes that it is time
for the second coming of Christ.
Going back to the novel, we see Okonwo, who is extremely shocked by the twists which take
place in his tribe as a cultural revolution. He sees their ancient religion giving its place to
Christianity, and their father s culture and traditions, which his life was based on, fall apart. To
make things even worse, his own son turns his back to him. Okonkwo can not stand this as a result
he tries to fight against the people who were the creators of this disaster. But as he fails, he commits
suicide, preferring to kill himself, rather than let those strangers kill him.
In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that according to the novel we see that

One of my favorite vacations We were all watching tv there was a football game on. My dad got

anything but it turns out that Dallas, who s a sophomore in high school, had too many test

mistake. When school ended Dallas picked us up and I raced up stairs packing as fast as I
could. In about an hour we had everything in the car and ready to go. We were off to colorado.
Me and Graham were sitting in the back while our dad sat in the front. Our dad then gave us two
options we could go straight to colorado or stay in a hotel. We all decided it was best to stay at a
hotel by the time we got there it was almost 10 o clock. We stopped at a hotel in Ellis Kansas.

Economic History Of Israel And Saudi Arabia Essay

Economic History of Israel and Saudi Arabia Israel and Saudi Arabia are two countries in close
proximity to each other, yet seem to be different in almost every metric. Saudi Arabia has a $744
Billion GDP, while Israel only $290 Billion (The World Bank), yet when breaking the GDP into
GDP per capita, Saudi Arabia lags behind Israel at with a GDP per capita of $25, 961 whereas
Israel is at $36,051. Israel and Saudi Arabia both became economic powerhouses of the Middle

are unique, illustrating various ways a country can develop. Israel as a country is quite new, only

Soon after Israel declared independence, all of the pseudo governmental Jewish institutions that
were set up during the period under British rule, combined to form government departments.
However, due to the state of its economy as well the more socialist leanings of the main political
party, in the beginning there was strong government intervention.
Following its founding, Israel s economy was jumpstarted through a large amount of foreign aid as
well as immigration. Immigration was a pillar of the founding of the Jewish state with Holocaust
survivors coming in droves from Europe to Israel. After just three years of it s founding, Israel

challenging situations in the global political stage. China s economy and power grows in a rapid

The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co
A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant ), as in their
audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise in the shares value but
then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be making losses. The accounting firm is
also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money
they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of
torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the
United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement.
Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments.
The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the
investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and
Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to
succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant
Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by
the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. Now I will analyse if those three cases are
likely to be happened in this situation. In relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome FAS Essay
Could you ever imagine feeding your infant alcohol through a bottle? This is equivalent to what
alcohol does to the fetus in the womb. This results in a tragic disease known as Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome. Alcohol can affect a human body in many different ways. Alcohol can be the highlight
of a party and make anything exciting, but also can seriously alter human life. It s quite often that
we see on the news another victim dead, or in critical condition because their signs and symptoms
were loud enough for others to notice, because a baby cannot speak for itself it isn t able to show

It isn t as common for brain damage to occur in the last trimester, but brain damage is at its highest

chemical that is toxic to the developing of the Central Nervous System(Stratton et al.2).
According to The Sunday Times ,just one glass of wine a week can make babies jump in the
womb throughout a nine month pregnancy. The Sunday Times also reported that experts believe
this abnormal hyperactive behavior is the result of alcohol slowing or retarding the formation of
the central nervous system. Even before the actual child is born it faces problems that it has no
control over and these problems will continue to hinder the child for the rest of its life. There is no
known cure for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, no medication to control the side effects, the cure may
seem simple and it is do not drink if you believe or suspect that you may become pregnant.
Unfortunately, the simple cure still does not work. However, there are some ways to prevent Fetal
Alcohol Syndrome from claiming another victim. A woman who consumes alcohol

Driverless Cars Are Better
Driverless cars are safer than manual cars in many ways. I will explain why they are safer. The
first reason why is because of safety. Examples of this car having a lot of safety is that it
accelerates and stops more sharply, it prevents car accidents, and that it tells you where it needs
to go. What s useful about the acceleration and brakes is that they work really well. What s useful
about it preventing car accidents is that you wouldn t have to worry about getting hurt or killed.
What s useful about the radar that tells you where you need to go is that you can just sit and
enjoy the drive. The second reason why is because it is a lot easier. Examples of this car being a lot

The, The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
I wholeheartedly embrace the sentiments of Socrates when Plato stated in the Apology, The
unexamined life is not worth living. Upon reflection, and asking myself, what exactly does this
mean, I feel as if my life has evolved full circle. I finally understand the meaning and purpose of my
life the myth I believe and know I should be living.
This course has put a lot of things into perspective for me by putting my thoughts, experiences,
and feelings into words and statements that prior to I could not fully explain. I have awareness
this presence around me that has opened a door that has me thirsting for more knowledge. I have
always been on a quest from a little child to find my place in this world curious and seeking
answers. What is the purpose and meaning of life? I remember asking my aunt several questions,
wanting to know the answers. I remember being three years old, living in New York City,
begging her to bring me to church every Sunday. We attended services at St. Patrick s Cathedral.
I can remember feeling so small in this very large place, as I observed what was happening
around me. I remember having a fascination with God and experiencing a closeness with him that
I could not explain. There were indelible impressions made attending these services that I was not
aware of until later in life. The mass we attended was often said in Latin. When I entered high

The Structure And Function Of Cell Organelles
The Structure and Function of Cell Organelles
Cells are surrounded with a boundary known as the cell surface membrane and as well as holding
the cell together, being semi permeable, it controls the movement of materials across it. Within the
cell are a number of structures each which have specific functions. These structures are known as
organelles. The cell surface membrane and the membranes of any of the membrane bound
organelles described below are made of the same material, a double layer of phospholipid
molecules. Within the cell surface membrane, the intracellular space known as the cytoplasm,
contains all the organelles and a fluid known as cytosol. Within the cytosol is a network of
microtubules and fibres called the cytoskeleton. This cytoskeleton s main functions are to give
support to the cell helping to maintain its shape and aid the movement of organelles. Most cell
organelles and structures are common to both animal and plant cells but there are some differences

Essay on Spirituality in Song of Solomon
Inclusive Spirituality in Song of Solomon
When slaves were brought to America they were taken from all they had known and forced to live
in a land of dark irony that, while promising life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, provided
them with only misery. In a situation such as the one in which the slaves found themselves, many
people would rely on their religion to help them survive. But would slaves be able to find spiritual
comfort within the parameters of a religion that had been passed on to them from the slaveholders?
In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, African Americans struggle to find a spirituality that is
responsive to their needs and that encompasses their experiences in a way that the religion of the

Perhaps more than even giving the reader a clue about what is to come, Morrison gives readers
this scene in an attempt to pique interest in the meaning of words. Perhaps Morrison is showing
readers that just because a word has meant one thing in the past, it is not precluded from taking on
other meanings as well. For the readers of Song, that is exactly what happens.
In Morrison s story, the name Pilate loses its original meaning of Christ killer and gains the
meaning of one who has control of the direction of her life. Pilate is a seeker. She asks, What do I
need to know to stay alive? and What is true in the world? (149). Dominant culture might only need
to ask about truth. Minority culture asks about survival. Because of her gift for penetrating to the
heart of her own experience, Pilate becomes a person who can guide others.
The most prominent of all the uses of biblical names in the story is the title itself, Song of
Solomon. Throughout the novel, a non minority reader, recalling the biblical Song of Songs or
Song of Solomon as the title is often translated in English Bibles, has the image before them of
sensual love poetry. However, a reader who, because of the title, is expecting a sensual love story
will be wondering how

The Washington Redskins Should Be Forced To Change Their Name
The Washington Redskins should be forced to change their name. The term Redskin means a
person with red skin referring to Indians. It also comes from the scalping of indians causing
blood to rush down their faces making their skin red. The name is considered a racial slur. It is
the equivalent to having a team named N**ger (Redskin slang). Since the name has remained the
same, people think it is okay to call indians this name(Haden). People who disagree with changing
the name point out the poll that shows 90% of natives aren t offended by the team name(Cox).
However, there was a survey in 2014 saying that 66% of indians living on the reservation are
offended. Speculations are made wondering if the poll was bias. Another reason why the Redskins
should change their name is because the team loses revenue for keeping an offensive
name(Keating). Due to the offensive name the supreme court appealed the registration and
trademark for the Washington football team(Person). Those against this claim would argue about
the owner of the team clinging to the name. Dan Snyder won t give up the name because of... Show

The Rio Grande Valley, And Immigration
This research paper focuses on the Rio Grande Valley, and immigration. The purpose of this
research paper is to demonstrate that immigration to the Rio Grande valley has had a negative
impact. Effects immigration has on the Valley s economy, employment, and education are
discussed. The concepts of informal and underground economy by Richardson, C. and Pisani, M.
are covered to demonstrate the unique economy the Rio Grandehas. Poverty rates at a national and
local level are compared. Studies by Richardson, C. and Pagan, J. are used for their statistical
information regarding unemployment in the Rio Grande Valleyfrom the years 2000 until today.
Counterarguments regarding positive effects in the Rio Grande are considered. Conclusion reached
is that immigration in the Rio Grande Valley does have a negative effect, although it is needed, to a
certain point in employment and economy; however a positive impact has been experienced in
education.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Musical Score: Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Bollywood took the world by storm several years ago. Among the most viewed theater releases
to date, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge struck a fancy with many movie goers as a feel good
feature enticing them to Come...fall in love . Musically, Dilwale contains a nearly wall to wall
score with purposely written lyrics to help relay the story. Following the subtitles proved a bit
daunting and the lyrics did not always seem to fit with the musical notation, but there was definite
expertise in moving the story along with each number. Moreover, the cinematography allowed for

Their brief two month encounter resulted in the same arousal of young love that ended when the
school bells beckoned. But, such as their counterparts in Dilwale, Sandy and Danny magically
found their way back to each other and the film allowed us to experience their journey with more of
the same type of buoyant, spirited music and dance as in the aforementioned film. Again, a nearly
wall to wall score included some original hits from the 50s helping to set the scene, as well as
melodies written especially for the movie in the same style, all of which helped to tell the story
over the course of a school year. Much to my bewilderment, when viewing Grease I found that
the songs were also lip synced and though the actual stars did their own singing, it too suffered in
the technical department plus the dancing fell short just as in Dilwale, without much
syncopation between music and movement. I did not notice this when I was 18? Much like
Dilwale, there were a generous number of original scores for Grease, including Greased
Lighting by Barry Gibb, and a cameo by Frankie Avalon, as well as the iconic Sha Na Na playing
diegetic music at the school dance, all of which were in the popular genre of the 50s. Just as we
saw in Dilwale, the song repertoire had lyrics that moved the dialogue along and helped to play
out the difficulties of being in love at such a young age, however, along that vein the stories were
dissimilar due to the fact that in America, dating and falling in love is part of a rite of passage as
is choosing who we fall in love. With regard to the Indian culture, even in the diasporas of today, it
can be seen that many still cling to the notion that the father chooses whom his daughter will wed.
Both films incorporated dance numbers with similarities as well, and even though the music was

Food Protection In The United States
Science Expo
Do you ever take your lunch anywhere? Have any of your food products ever been wasted,
destroyed, or damaged in any way due to the unstable or heavier items in your meal? Secondly,
let s say when you go into a restaurant, would you want your entree to come out squashed or
crushed? Food protection is an enormous problem. Food is one of the key ingredients needed for
life, so why do people not protect it like they protect themselves or how they protect others? Food
protection is the action of not allowing any items in the meal to be harmed or for the consumer to
be harmed from eating the meal. Food protection is not a legal law in the United States, yet if the
government teaches the importance of food protection and why it is needed, children in the United
States would have much better health habits, such simple habits such as washing their hands before
eating or washing off their produce before people eat it can help. Simple habits like that could
change all of America, so why does the government not teach children about food protection? Let
me talk to you about food protection.
School
A common place where food protection should be applied most is at school. Most people go to
school, so it should be a key place to teach information about food protection. Matthew Molina, a
student attending Arnall Middle School, he is not happy with how his food is protected from his
lunch box because well, you will find out. We asked Matthew, Do you think your lunch box
provides protection for your food? and guess what he said, No. Next, the interviewer asked another
student, Alexa Van Veghten, who is also a student attending Arnall, who brings her own lunch to
school every day. Do your plastic containers protect your lunch? the interviewer asked. Alexa
answered, No, because the food gets crushed when my lunch box moves. Then container moves
making the food bang up against the side of the lunch box causing the food to become crushed.
So do containers really protect your food? Maybe that is a question you should ask yourself.
Also, if a child s lunchbox has a plastic interior, don t you think if the containers were also made
of plastic, in which would do the same damage to the food from banging against

The Facts About Educational and Roth IRA’s Essays
The Facts About Educational and Roth IRA s
In 1997 great things came into play for the taxpayers. The Tax Reform Act of 1997, which was
inacted by the IRS, allowed single taxpayers and married taxpayers a considerable amount of tax
relief for the Educational and Roth IRA s. Individual Retirement Accounts, also known as IRA s,
are accounts opened in an individual s name only and provide tax deferred savings for retirement.
The contributions may be fully deductible, partially deductible, or nondeductible.
All IRA s have the same basic characteristics that enable customers to save money while gaining
benefits that may include tax deferred savings and tax deductions. An IRA is a product in which
customers place additional products ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also with the Traditional IRA there are certain taxes which become due after a certain age. After
age 59 1/2 income tax is due on earnings and the original contributions are withdrawn tax free
(smartmoney, the ira super page, 2000).
In 1998 an additional way for individuals to save for retirement was introduced to the public as a
Roth IRA. These Roth IRA s are a terrific tax break, especially for individuals previously shut out
of the deductible IRA game because their incomes were too high. Here s why. Unlike traditional
IRA s, Roth contributions are nondeductible. But the earnings build up tax free (SmartMoney,
you wanted to know, 2000). Another great point about the Roth IRA is the fact that any
withdrawals are free of federal income tax under certain circumstances. To be free from federal
tax the Roth IRA must have been open at least five years and your age must be 59 1/2 or older.
To be eligible for a Roth IRA you must have an adjusted gross income (AGI) between $95,000
and $110,000 for single filers and between $150,000 and $160,000 for joint filers. Also with the
IRA you are not able to contribute more than $2,000 annually per person. With the Roth IRA there
are no taxes due if funds are held in the account for at least five years and you are at least age 59 1

Before investors invest in a company, he or she must take various items into consideration. First,
both paid in capital and earned capital are looked at. These items tell investors how well the
company is doing and if the company is profitable. Next, investors look at earnings, basic and
diluted. Once an investor takes the above into consideration, he or she can then make the decision
whether to invest in a company or not. This paper will discuss why it is important to keep paid in
capital separate from earned capital. How earned capital and basic earnings are more important
than paid in capital and diluted earnings will also be discussed.

If a company has a retained earnings balance that exceeds the amount of paid in capital, an
investor is more likely to invest in that company. A company that has most of it money from
investors could be a red flag to investors. This shows a company may be less willing to save their
company because a lot of the owner s money is not invested. As an investor basic earnings per share
are more important than diluted earnings. Basic earnings consist only of common stock or includes
no potential common stock that upon conversion or exercise could dilute earnings per common
share (Kieso, D. E., Weygandt, J.J., amp; Warfied, T. D., 2007). In a sense, basic earnings do not
reduce the earnings per share. Basic earnings are part of a simple capital structure. Diluted
earnings are part of a complex capital structure and have the potential to be converted to common
stock. Upon conversion or exercise by the holder, the dilutive securities reduce (dilute) earnings
per share (Kieso, D. E., Weygandt, J.J., amp; Warfied, T. D., 2007). A complex structure is when
a corporation has earnings that may be diluted. Basic earnings are more important because an
investor has less potential to lose money because basic earnings cannot be reduced. An investor
would most likely not want to invest in a complex corporation because his or her earnings per
share may be reduced, which means he or she may lose money instead of gaining money. For

Essay about The Life of Emile Durkheim
Emile Durkheim was French sociologist. He was born on April 15, 1858 in Epinal, France.
Epinal is located in the Eastern French Province, Lorraine. His father, Moise was the Chief
Rabbi of Epinal, Vosges, and Haute Marne, while his mother, Melanie, worked as an embroiderer.
Durkheim was the youngest of their four surviving children. Durkheim s great grandfather,
grandfather, and father were all Jewish rabbis. He was expected to follow suit so at a young age
he was sent to a rabbinical school. He studied Hebrew, the Talmud, the Old Testament, as well as
the curriculum taught in secular schools. Surprisingly his destiny for rabbinate was short lived. He
gave up Judaism shortly after his bar mitzvah, a traditional Jewish... Show more content on

Durkheim s generation at Ecole Normale Superieur was full of brilliant people. He quickly became
a participant of the political and philosophical debates that characterized the school, though he was
more interested in academics than politics. He found the literary nature of the school to be very
disappointing but became very inspired by two of his teachers, Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges
and Emile Boutroux. Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges taught Emile the importance of religion in
social institutions and could be studied rationally and objectively. Emile Boutroux taught him that
atomism, the reduction of phenomena to their smallest constituent parts, was a fallacious
methodological procedure and that each science must explain phenomena in terms of its own
specific principles. The theories he learned later influenced his theories on the subjects. He
successfully passed his agrГ©gation, an exam required to be a teacher in a state secondary school.
Durkheim had dedicated his life to a study of society but since sociology was not a subject at the
secondary schools or universities, he launched his career teaching philosophy in 1882. In 1885
Durkheim took a year of leave to do research in Germany. While he was there he had a chance to
study under Wilhelm Wundt, a pioneering experimental psychologist. Emile was very impressed by
Wilhelm Wundt. In 1887 he returned to France to become a lecturer in education in sociology at
Bordeaux. He had

Theme Of Power And Corruption In The Most Dangerous Game
Power and corruption have always gone hand in hand with the world today. The characters in the
short stories. Monkey s Paw by Richard Connell is about a family getting the gift of a monkey s
paw that holds three wishes and instead of heeding the warning of an old friend, they use the
wishes for horrible consequences. The Most Dangerous Gamefollows the story of a young man
who gets trapped on an island with a man called General Zaroff that hunts the unfortunate people
who stumble across the island. How to transform is about an eighth grader who learns lessons
about life as he practices playing basketball in an old gym. These stories have the motif of power
and corruption throughout the story, and though this motif comes the theme of each short story.
Power and corruption are used throughout The Most Dangerous Game to show some myths
hold true. In The Most Dangerous Game when Rainsford first describes General Zaroff right
hand man Ivan The menacing look in the eyes did not change. The revolver pointed as rigidly as
if the giant were a statute (Connell 3).Ivan has the power here to let Rainsford go,however he is
corrupted by the general s thinking. He is also corrupted by his love of power that he holds over
the innocent victims that land on this island. As the night carries on General Zaroff describes his
methods of restocking the island, he says Sometimes an angry god of the high seas sends them to
me, sometimes when providence is not so kind

In The Promise Of A Pencil
In the Promise of a Pencil book, by Adam Braun, he explains or gives stories about his journey in
founding the Promise of a Pencil organization. In the book we see the themes or mantras that
Adam describes and his experiences towards each of them. I think that the themes that relate to
me in my transition to college are chapter two get out of your comfort zone and chapter twenty
six surround yourself with those who make your better . I can identify with these two mantras
because in my life I have always strived to surround myself with people that make me better. I
also need to get more out of my comfort zone which I did in high school but not as much, for
example I was involve in some clubs and organizations but I wasn t fully involved... Show more

I want to continue that feeling of being more socially engaged in college. In one of those clubs,
the National Honor Society I was surrounded by individuals that care about the environment and
helping others in the community like the homeless. I want to continue this at FIU, at orientation
I found out about a really interesting program that has similar goals, which I am thinking of
joining. This relates to the mantras I think relate to my transition to college, for one I am going
out of my comfort zone by joining my first college club and I ll be surrounding myself with people
that would help me grow. In doing so, I feel like I would become a better person in a social sense
because I`ll be able to interact with people without being shy. Another way that I plan to get out
of my comfort zone is by participating in more class discussions, which I already started, doing in
my ENC class though not as much as I would like to. In my high school years I really didn t
participate in school events, I would barely participate and if I did it was because it was required
for a class or something else. As I progressed through my years at FIU, I would like to participate
in more events like attend football

The Character Analysis Of Ophelia From Shakespeare s Hamlet
This essay will pose as an analysis of Ophelia from Shakespeare s Hamlet. This play is a drama
and it takes place in the 16th century in Denmark. The central characters are Ophelia, Hamlet,
and Ophelia s brother Laertes and father Polonius. In this work, Ophelia is constantly influenced
by the opinions of those that surround her which causes her to become a prisoner to her own
thoughts. This drama was written as a depiction of how women conducted themselves during this
time and conformed to the standards of men. It was common for women to remain silent and
keep their thoughts to themselves, while males voiced their opinions. She was expected to
blindly obey the males in her life which doesn t allow her to learn, grow, and explore. In this essay,
I will provide a character analysis that will discuss Ophelia s rearing, obedience, and naГЇve stature.
Ophelia is a potential wife for Hamlet, but is unsure about herself being equip for marriage. The
author expresses this in the text with the quote, He hath, my lord, of late made many tenders of
his affection to me (1.3.586). When further analyzed, the quote displays Ophelia s feelings
towards Hamlet and him viewing her as a potential candidate to be his wife. She admires him
because of the affection he attempts to show her. However, her brother sees through Hamlets act.
Shakespeare states in the text I shall th effect of this good lesson keep . As watchman to my heart,
But good my brother (1.3.529). Ophelia s brother is

ritalin Essay
Parents throughout the country are being pressured and compelled by schools to give psychiatric
drugs to their children. Teachers, school psychologists, and administrators commonly make dire
threats about their inability to teach children without medicating them. They sometimes suggest
that only medication can stave off a bleak future of delinquency and occupational failure. They even
call child protective services to investigate parents for child neglect and they sometimes testify
against parents in court.
Often the schools recommend particular physicians who favor the use of stimulant drugs to control
behavior. These stimulant drugs include methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, and Metadate) or
forms of amphetamine (Dexedrine and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rates for boys were not disclosed but probably exceeded 15%. With 53 million children
enrolled in school, probably more than 5 million are taking stimulant drugs.
A recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association by Zito and her colleagues has
demonstrated a three fold increase in the prescription of stimulants to 2 4 year old toddlers.
II. The Dangers of Stimulant Medication
Until recently, no studies have systematically examined the rate of psychotic symptoms caused by
routine treatment with stimulant drugs such as methylphenidate
(Ritalin) and amphetamine (Dexedrine, Adderall). Doctors who prescribe stimulant drugs often
seem forgetful to the fact that they can cause psychoses, including manic like and schizophrenic
like disorders. Without providing a scientific basis, the literature often cities rates of 1% or less for
stimulant induced psychoses.
The rate of psychotic symptoms that appear during stimulant treatment has recently been
investigated in a 5 year retrospectives study of children diagnosed with Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADH). Among 192 children diagnosed with ADHD at the Canadian
clinic, 98 had been placed on stimulant drugs, mostly methylphenidate.
Psychotic symptoms developed in more than 9% of the children treated with methylphenidate. The
psychotic symptoms caused by methylphenidate included

TECHNOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT The company I am continuing to work with is US Airways
Group. There is plenty of hard and soft technology to list for the domestic environment. Some of the
hard technology used in the domestic environment is aircraft, security system, and safety gear. Some
soft technology used in the domestic environment is management, government regulations that
govern the procedures of the company, and training for employees. The hard technology I listed
above is the obvious technology the air line company utilizes yet there is more hard technology
being used. The soft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I honest believe this is the only remedy for providing up to date technology, the company has to
make it a priority to provide the same technology to the global environment. The customs can be
corrected by provided a print out of what is allowed and what is not allowed to be brought into
or out of a country a passenger is traveling through. The information is available online but some
older passengers aren t as savvy with technology so they may not receive the same information.
With this tactic there is not any excuse for not knowing what is expected when going through
customs. The strategies I stated above will be successful, only if they are applied. Without
application the strategy will be a failure. Within the domestic environment the security system can
be significantly improved and decrease the risk for terrorist attacks greatly. This technology
needs to be protected by requiring a security clearance for all employees who work for the
company. This way you have a thorough back ground check on everyone who works for US
Airways Group and the risk for inside information getting out to enemies of the United States is
low. Within the global environment technology needs to be advanced. The company can protect
this technology by only providing the technology to its global counterparts and not the

Cause And Effects Of Tsunamis
Tsunamis are one of the most destructive natural disasters. A series of waves in an ocean or lake
caused by the displacement of a large body of water is known as a tsunami, meaning harbor wave
in Japanese. A tsunami is also known as a tidal wave or seismic sea wave. Their wavelength is
much longer than a typical sea wave, therefore tsunamis do not resemble normal undersea currents.
Instead of appearing as a breaking wave, a tsunamimay instead resemble a very tall tide or wave.
Unlike typical wind generated ocean waves, tsunamis are not caused by the gravitational pull of the
Sun and Moon but instead are generated by the displacement of water. Tsunamis are very
destructive and their causes and impact to the environment and to humans show this; so, looking at
and understanding a past example of a devastating tsunami and preparing for one in the future can
help save lives and lessen the overall damage.
There are several main causes of a tsunami. Doubtlessly, the most damaging tsunamis are caused by
earthquakes with a fault line near the ocean floor, or even underwater. Researchers from the
International Tsunami Research Center say that sudden vertical displacement over large areas,
displace water and end up creating destructive tsunami waves (What Causes Tsunamis). Less
periodically, submarine landslides can motivate a tsunami. The United States Geological Survey
conducted research and have found that Tsunamis can be generated on impact as a rapidly moving
landslide mass

  • 2. Theory of Gestalt Therapy Theory of Gestalt Therapy What is Gestalt Therapy? This is a question that has divided therapists for decades. Although Gestalt Therapy is based on a set of techniques, it is ultimately the therapist own defined style that makes it unique from the theatrical techniques of Fritz Perls to the one on one approach of Jim Simken. According to G.M. Yontef (Awareness, Dialogue and Process Pg 203), Gestalt Therapyis: 1. a bringing about of awareness 2. it is based on the I and Thou contact withdrawal process 3. its world view is based on holism and field theory Each and every one of us seeks to make sense of life s events, and as such a considerable amount of time is spent in trying to analyse and explain these events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Premature closure feels better that leaving it open, but since the need is still unmet, it will continue to demand attention. The result is a fixation on the part of the individual to resolve his unfinished business . Another aspect of contact is that contact itself is but the highlight of a contact withdrawal cycle , i.e. a cycle that occurs and reoccurs. Habitually, the therapist backs off and comes back again, listening quietly without straining to figure everything out; information is given in a calm but impersonal manner. It is important that the session itself develops a natural rhythm. Meaningful contact cannot be attained or attempted every second. The client also needs to work hard to attain contact, and if there is a pattern of inequality then it is best to change it. If the therapist is doing all the work, than the client s needs may not be met or the therapist may be feeding into their desire to be spoon fed. If on the other hand the client is doing much more of the work, then the therapist may need to loosen up and give more of himself. Sometimes, the therapist may need to have the client be still and quiet so that he can do the work. The client therapist relationship is an important part of Gestalt Therapy. This I Thou relationship is a contact between two genuine people rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Comparison Of Art In Wiggins s Of Mice And Men The project this group presented to the class would happen to be a Prezi presentation. The Prezi presentation was complete with descriptions and comparisons of not only characters, but also of style, technique, settings, themes, cultural influences, symbols, art based off of the novels, and some rabbit clip art. The art ties into each novel in its own, specific ways. The first piece, which is untitled, shows white silhouettes of Lennie and George standing inside the black silhouette of a rabbit. This shows how their dream, of owning a rabbit farm, was bigger than the both of them, and that to do it, they would require help. Another piece, Of Mice and Men by Mick Wiggins, shows the close friendship between George and Lennie, and how for the longest time, it was really only the both of them on their travels together. Meanwhile, the final piece, The Departure of the Joads by Thomas Hart Bennon, shows the dreariness of the Okies situation, along with a symbol of hope for the future shown by the light shining radiantly from beyond their vehicle. Almost whole chapters in The Grapes of Wrath are dedicated to setting the scene for the next chapter, proving just how much Steinbeck relied on these. • 5. Leibniz Rationalism Rationalism is the principle that maintains that through reason alone we can gain at least some positive knowledge of the world. The three major rationalists, Rene Descartes, Baruch Spinoza and Gottfried Welhelm Leibniz, used this idea in order to defy skepticism and expose the true nature of reality. However, each philosopher is frequently in disagreement. The idea for God , and what constitutes substance, matter and reality are the four key structural beliefs that aid each rationalist in the forming of their arguments. Yet, it is these four concepts and the arguments behind them that cause the inconsistency found in rationalism. The idea that reason can provide positive solutions to the various questions put forth is made doubtful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, relatedly, the monad must not only exhibit properties, but contain within itself virtually or potentially all the properties it will exhibit in the future, and also contain the trace of all the properties it did exhibit in the past. In Leibniz s extraordinary phrase, found frequently in his later work, the monad is pregnant with the future and laden with the past (Monadology, p22). All these properties are folded up within the monad, and they unfold when and as they have sufficient reason to do so. (Monadology p61) The network of explanation is indivisible to divide it would either leave some predicates without a sufficient reason, or merely separate two substances that never belonged together in the first place. Correspondingly, the monad is one, simple and indivisible. Everything we perceive around us, which is a unified being, must be a single monad. Everything else is a composite of many monads. My coffee cup, for example, is made of many monads (an infinite number, actually). In everyday life, we tend to call it a single thing only because the monads all act together. My soul, however, and the soul of every other living thing, is a single monad which controls a composite body. Leibniz thus says that at least for living things we must posit substantial forms, as the principle of the unity of certain living composites. My ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Compare And Contrast Sonnet 60 And 64 Sonnets 60 and 64 are about the effects of time. This is a recurrent theme in Shakespeare s poems. Through the use of imagery, Shakespeare provides relatable experiences to describe the passage of time. Sonnet 60 provides three examples of the passage of time the first is waves moving towards a shore, the second is a child growing to maturity, and the third is time s effects on the beauty of youth. Sonnet 64 provides three of Shakespeare s personal experiences the first is time s effects on towers and brass, the second is the ocean and a shore, the third is the change of condition of things. Both sonnets have similarities and differences in themes, structure, and speech acts. Sonnets 60 and 64 have a similar theme of Time destroying things and eventually taking his love away. The difference is that sonnet 60 has a more hopeful ending than sonnet 64. In the couplet of sonnet 60 Shakespeare has hope that his verse will stand against time and the poem ... Analysis Of Hank Morgan s A Connecticut Yankee A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court tells the story of a Connecticut Yankee, Hank Morgan, being sent back in time to King Arthur s Court, in 528. During the story, Hank learns much about himself and others. From his experiences, the novel as a whole tries to convey the idea that Hank has much to learn from the medieval time period and its people, even though it might not be transparent to him. During the story, Hank believes he is superior to those in King Arthurs Court. He feels that his Yankee can do attitude, capitalist beliefs, technological advances and democratic ideals put him a step above everyone in the medieval time. From his stubbornness to improve a society that does not really need improvement, Hank blinds himself from learning human values that would only be beneficial for himself and the Americans of his time. These positive aspects of life include hospitality, trust, unity, and loyalty. As a result of Hank s efforts to change these people, he eventually destroys their society, further proving the point that his way of life is not the only way to live; as well as showing it is far from the best way to live. To begin with, Hank s human nature and values are essentially based off of his circumstances. His time period is full of new opportunities and possibilities. • 10. The Failures Of Market Failure Market failure, in economic terms, refers to a situation wherein the free market fails to efficiently allocate the goods and services. Or in other words, during market failure, another conceivable outcomes (non Pareto optimal) exist wherein a market participant is found to be made better off without making anyone else worse off (Francis Bator, 1958). The failures in market can be seen as the scenarios in which the pursuit of pure self interest of an individual leads to inefficient results as per the societal point of view and bearing high chances of improvement. Basically, market failures occur when the market lacks economic efficiency. Market failures may occur due to a plenty of reasons including asymmetries in information, externalities, monopoly, time inconsistent preferences, principal agent issues, public goods, or non competitive markets etc. Therefore the market failure often requires the intervention of supra national institutions and self regulated governments and organizations in that particular market (Joseph Stiglitz, 1989). Micro economists are usually involved in the task of identifying potential causes of market failure and suggesting appropriate corrective measures. An important role is played by such an analysis in number of public policy studies and decision making. Historical records show us that governmental interventions have various impacts on the economy of its country. However, poorly implemented governmental attempts for correcting market failure ... Marjane Satrapi gives a first hand account of what it was like being a child and growing up in Iran during the Iran Iraq War (1980 1988) in The Complete Persepolis. Today, living in a world that treats Iranians as if they were all bad guys, Marji shows the reader that not only are the Iranians being beat by their own government but also by the world itself. It is not the Iranians who are the bad guys but merely those who are running the country that have demolished the Iranian image. During the Islamic revolution the government made it a priority to remove Westernized culture from Iran. By doing so, a very religion centered power arose leading to the abolishment of many rights. Education, Western influence, and equality were affected greatly. Iran s people pushed on suffering through what seemed like a never ending war. Defined properly, model minority refers to minority groups that have rates of socio economic assimilation and achieved a high level of success in today s western society. The term has been used most often to describe Asian Americans, group seen as having attained economic and education success at significantly higher rates than that of other minority groups. The Condition of Children Orange County report states that in the 2011 2012 academic year, 7.4% of Asian students dropped out of high school, which is higher than their white peers (4.6%). Because of this, many schools do not accurately monitor, record, and report the dropout rates among Asian Americans. As a result, many school districts throughout the nation do not realize the significant number of Asian students they are losing because of a stereotype (Walker Moffat, 1995). In addition to underachievement and growing dropout rates among Asian Americans, the increasing socioeconomic gap between Asians and whites also made the model minority stereotype problematic. According to U.S. Census Bureau, the poverty rates among Asian Americangroups (12.6%) remain elevated compared to that of their white counterparts and the overall national average (12.4%). The negative effects of the model minority myth and stereotypes are also evident in secondary and post graduate education. Research shows that the false representation of Asian students has evolved into the inaccurate view and additional stereotype that Asian students achieve their success through dishonest means and threaten the success of their academic peers (Suzuki, 2002). For example, the increased profiling of Asian students in higher education has resulted in directly adverse learning environments that place additional negative views on their success (Yeh, 2002). He can not stand this state of fairs so he thinks that it is the end and he hopes that it is time for the second coming of Christ. Going back to the novel, we see Okonwo, who is extremely shocked by the twists which take place in his tribe as a cultural revolution. He sees their ancient religion giving its place to Christianity, and their father s culture and traditions, which his life was based on, fall apart. To make things even worse, his own son turns his back to him. Okonkwo can not stand this as a result he tries to fight against the people who were the creators of this disaster. But as he fails, he commits suicide, preferring to kill himself, rather than let those strangers kill him. In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that according to the novel we see that ... None of us thought we had anything but it turns out that Dallas, who s a sophomore in high school, had too many test going on so that meant Dallas wasn t going. When school ended Dallas picked us up and I raced up stairs packing as fast as I could. In about an hour we had everything in the car and ready to go. We were off to colorado. Me and Graham were sitting in the back while our dad sat in the front. Our dad then gave us two options we could go straight to colorado or stay in a hotel. Economic History Of Israel And Saudi Arabia Essay Eytan Davidovits Professor Hill Economics 191 20, March 2015 Economic History of Israel and Saudi Arabia Israel and Saudi Arabia are two countries in close proximity to each other, yet seem to be different in almost every metric. Saudi Arabia has a $744 Billion GDP, while Israel only $290 Billion (The World Bank), yet when breaking the GDP into GDP per capita, Saudi Arabia lags behind Israel at with a GDP per capita of $25, 961 whereas Israel is at $36,051. Israel and Saudi Arabia both became economic powerhouses of the Middle East, while remaining vastly different from each other in terms of their institutions. Their histories are unique, illustrating various ways a country can develop. Israel as a country is quite new, only 67 years old. Israel was founded in 1948 after being given to the Jewish people by Great Britain. Soon after Israel declared independence, all of the pseudo governmental Jewish institutions that were set up during the period under British rule, combined to form government departments. However, due to the state of its economy as well the more socialist leanings of the main political party, in the beginning there was strong government intervention. Following its founding, Israel s economy was jumpstarted through a large amount of foreign aid as well as immigration. Immigration was a pillar of the founding of the Jewish state with Holocaust survivors coming in droves from Europe to Israel. After just three years of it s founding, Israel doubled its ... The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. The cell surface membrane and the membranes of any of the membrane bound organelles described below are made of the same material, a double layer of phospholipid molecules. Within the cell surface membrane, the intracellular space known as the cytoplasm, contains all the organelles and a fluid known as cytosol. Perhaps more than even giving the reader a clue about what is to come, Morrison gives readers this scene in an attempt to pique interest in the meaning of words. Perhaps Morrison is showing readers that just because a word has meant one thing in the past, it is not precluded from taking on other meanings as well. For the readers of Song, that is exactly what happens. In Morrison s story, the name Pilate loses its original meaning of Christ killer and gains the meaning of one who has control of the direction of her life. Pilate is a seeker. She asks, What do I need to know to stay alive? and What is true in the world? (149). Dominant culture might only need to ask about truth. Minority culture asks about survival. Because of her gift for penetrating to the heart of her own experience, Pilate becomes a person who can guide others. The term Redskin means a person with red skin referring to Indians. It also comes from the scalping of indians causing blood to rush down their faces making their skin red. The name is considered a racial slur. It is the equivalent to having a team named N**ger (Redskin slang). Since the name has remained the same, people think it is okay to call indians this name(Haden). People who disagree with changing the name point out the poll that shows 90% of natives aren t offended by the team name(Cox). However, there was a survey in 2014 saying that 66% of indians living on the reservation are offended. Speculations are made wondering if the poll was bias. Another reason why the Redskins should change their name is because the team loses revenue for keeping an offensive name(Keating). Again, a nearly wall to wall score included some original hits from the 50s helping to set the scene, as well as melodies written especially for the movie in the same style, all of which helped to tell the story over the course of a school year. Much to my bewilderment, when viewing Grease I found that the songs were also lip synced and though the actual stars did their own singing, it too suffered in the technical department plus the dancing fell short just as in Dilwale, without much syncopation between music and movement. Have any of your food products ever been wasted, destroyed, or damaged in any way due to the unstable or heavier items in your meal? Secondly, let s say when you go into a restaurant, would you want your entree to come out squashed or crushed? Food protection is an enormous problem. Food is one of the key ingredients needed for life, so why do people not protect it like they protect themselves or how they protect others? Food protection is the action of not allowing any items in the meal to be harmed or for the consumer to be harmed from eating the meal. Food protection is not a legal law in the United States, yet if the government teaches the importance of food protection and why it is needed, children in the United States would have much better health habits, such simple habits such as washing their hands before eating or washing off their produce before people eat it can help. Simple habits like that could change all of America, so why does the government not teach children about food protection? Let me talk to you about food protection. School A common place where food protection should be applied most is at school. Most people go to school, so it should be a key place to teach information about food protection. A company that has most of it money from investors could be a red flag to investors. This shows a company may be less willing to save their company because a lot of the owner s money is not invested. As an investor basic earnings per share are more important than diluted earnings. Basic earnings consist only of common stock or includes no potential common stock that upon conversion or exercise could dilute earnings per common share (Kieso, D. E., Weygandt, J.J., amp; Warfied, T. D., 2007). In a sense, basic earnings do not reduce the earnings per share. Basic earnings are part of a simple capital structure. Diluted earnings are part of a complex capital structure and have the potential to be converted to common stock. A complex structure is when a corporation has earnings that may be diluted. Basic earnings are more important because an investor has less potential to lose money because basic earnings cannot be reduced. • 41. Essay about The Life of Emile Durkheim Emile Durkheim was French sociologist. He was born on April 15, 1858 in Epinal, France. Epinal is located in the Eastern French Province, Lorraine. His father, Moise was the Chief Rabbi of Epinal, Vosges, and Haute Marne, while his mother, Melanie, worked as an embroiderer. Durkheim was the youngest of their four surviving children. Durkheim s great grandfather, grandfather, and father were all Jewish rabbis. He was expected to follow suit so at a young age he was sent to a rabbinical school. He studied Hebrew, the Talmud, the Old Testament, as well as the curriculum taught in secular schools. Surprisingly his destiny for rabbinate was short lived. He quickly became a participant of the political and philosophical debates that characterized the school, though he was more interested in academics than politics. He found the literary nature of the school to be very disappointing but became very inspired by two of his teachers, Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges and Emile Boutroux. Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges taught Emile the importance of religion in social institutions and could be studied rationally and objectively. Emile Boutroux taught him that atomism, the reduction of phenomena to their smallest constituent parts, was a fallacious methodological procedure and that each science must explain phenomena in terms of its own specific principles. The theories he learned later influenced his theories on the subjects. He successfully passed his agrГ©gation, an exam required to be a teacher in a state secondary school. Durkheim had dedicated his life to a study of society but since sociology was not a subject at the secondary schools or universities, he launched his career teaching philosophy in 1882. In 1885 Durkheim took a year of leave to do research in Germany. While he was there he had a chance to study under Wilhelm Wundt, a pioneering experimental psychologist. Emile was very impressed by Wilhelm Wundt. In 1887 he returned to France to become a lecturer in education in sociology at Bordeaux. He had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book we see the themes or mantras that Adam describes and his experiences towards each of them. I think that the themes that relate to me in my transition to college are chapter two get out of your comfort zone and chapter twenty six surround yourself with those who make your better . I can identify with these two mantras because in my life I have always strived to surround myself with people that make me better. I also need to get more out of my comfort zone which I did in high school but not as much, for example I was involve in some clubs and organizations but I wasn t fully involved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to continue that feeling of being more socially engaged in college. In one of those clubs, the National Honor Society I was surrounded by individuals that care about the environment and helping others in the community like the homeless. I want to continue this at FIU, at orientation I found out about a really interesting program that has similar goals, which I am thinking of joining. This relates to the mantras I think relate to my transition to college, for one I am going out of my comfort zone by joining my first college club and I ll be surrounding myself with people that would help me grow. In doing so, I feel like I would become a better person in a social sense because I`ll be able to interact with people without being shy. Another way that I plan to get out of my comfort zone is by participating in more class discussions, which I already started, doing in my ENC class though not as much as I would like to. In my high school years I really didn t participate in school events, I would barely participate and if I did it was because it was required for a class or something else. • 44. The Character Analysis Of Ophelia From Shakespeare s Hamlet This essay will pose as an analysis of Ophelia from Shakespeare s Hamlet. This play is a drama and it takes place in the 16th century in Denmark. The central characters are Ophelia, Hamlet, and Ophelia s brother Laertes and father Polonius. In this work, Ophelia is constantly influenced by the opinions of those that surround her which causes her to become a prisoner to her own thoughts. This drama was written as a depiction of how women conducted themselves during this time and conformed to the standards of men. It was common for women to remain silent and keep their thoughts to themselves, while males voiced their opinions. She was expected to blindly obey the males in her life which doesn t allow her to learn, grow, and explore. In this essay, I will provide a character analysis that will discuss Ophelia s rearing, obedience, and naГЇve stature. Ophelia is a potential wife for Hamlet, but is unsure about herself being equip for marriage. The author expresses this in the text with the quote, He hath, my lord, of late made many tenders of his affection to me (1.3.586). When further analyzed, the quote displays Ophelia s feelings towards Hamlet and him viewing her as a potential candidate to be his wife. She admires him because of the affection he attempts to show her. However, her brother sees through Hamlets act. Shakespeare states in the text I shall th effect of this good lesson keep . Teachers, school psychologists, and administrators commonly make dire threats about their inability to teach children without medicating them. They sometimes suggest that only medication can stave off a bleak future of delinquency and occupational failure. They even call child protective services to investigate parents for child neglect and they sometimes testify against parents in court. Often the schools recommend particular physicians who favor the use of stimulant drugs to control behavior. These stimulant drugs include methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, and Metadate) or forms of amphetamine (Dexedrine and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association by Zito and her colleagues has demonstrated a three fold increase in the prescription of stimulants to 2 4 year old toddlers. II. The Dangers of Stimulant Medication Until recently, no studies have systematically examined the rate of psychotic symptoms caused by routine treatment with stimulant drugs such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) and amphetamine (Dexedrine, Adderall). Doctors who prescribe stimulant drugs often seem forgetful to the fact that they can cause psychoses, including manic like and schizophrenic like disorders. Without providing a scientific basis, the literature often cities rates of 1% or less for stimulant induced psychoses. The rate of psychotic symptoms that appear during stimulant treatment has recently been investigated in a 5 year retrospectives study of children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADH). Among 192 children diagnosed with ADHD at the Canadian clinic, 98 had been placed on stimulant drugs, mostly methylphenidate. Psychotic symptoms developed in more than 9% of the children treated with methylphenidate. The psychotic symptoms caused by methylphenidate included ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I honest believe this is the only remedy for providing up to date technology, the company has to make it a priority to provide the same technology to the global environment. The customs can be corrected by provided a print out of what is allowed and what is not allowed to be brought into or out of a country a passenger is traveling through. The information is available online but some older passengers aren t as savvy with technology so they may not receive the same information. With this tactic there is not any excuse for not knowing what is expected when going through customs. The strategies I stated above will be successful, only if they are applied. Without application the strategy will be a failure. Within the domestic environment the security system can be significantly improved and decrease the risk for terrorist attacks greatly. This technology needs to be protected by requiring a security clearance for all employees who work for the company. This way you have a thorough back ground check on everyone who works for US Airways Group and the risk for inside information getting out to enemies of the United States is low. Within the global environment technology needs to be advanced. The company can protect this technology by only providing the technology to its global counterparts and not the ... • 47. Cause And Effects Of Tsunamis Tsunamis are one of the most destructive natural disasters. A series of waves in an ocean or lake caused by the displacement of a large body of water is known as a tsunami, meaning harbor wave in Japanese. A tsunami is also known as a tidal wave or seismic sea wave. Their wavelength is much longer than a typical sea wave, therefore tsunamis do not resemble normal undersea currents. Instead of appearing as a breaking wave, a tsunamimay instead resemble a very tall tide or wave. Unlike typical wind generated ocean waves, tsunamis are not caused by the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon but instead are generated by the displacement of water. Tsunamis are very destructive and their causes and impact to the environment and to humans show this; so, looking at and understanding a past example of a devastating tsunami and preparing for one in the future can help save lives and lessen the overall damage. There are several main causes of a tsunami. Doubtlessly, the most damaging tsunamis are caused by earthquakes with a fault line near the ocean floor, or even underwater. Researchers from the International Tsunami Research Center say that sudden vertical displacement over large areas, displace water and end up creating destructive tsunami waves (What Causes Tsunamis). Less periodically, submarine landslides can motivate a tsunami. The United States Geological Survey conducted research and have found that Tsunamis can be generated on impact as a rapidly moving landslide mass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
