The Passage Of Time Affects The Memory Of The Holocaust
The passage of time affects our memories of the past by the memory content that we experience in life
which shows us that the more changing experiences we have, the longer subjective duration lasts for.
The bigger and more intense memories have a greater impact on the memories that we tend to hold on
to and remember for lifetime. For example, a weekend spent at home doing our usual routines passes
very quickly. In contrast, a weekend when we travel to a new destination with a friend lasts much
longer or like in novels that we have read when the Nazi regime took over Europe and cause 60
million people to lose their lives. By stating this, I understand that we can recall many different, new,
and catastrophic events. This memory load expands over time. Also, if we look into Maus when
Vladek was once a wealthy man before the war, is brought to having to garner and reserve even the
smallest of items, such as the wrapper from cheese, or the cigarettes from his rations. These items took
on a huge importance to Vladek, and even years later, he feels unable to dispose them cause of what
he had to go through. Vladek also has had a tough time asking for help doing daily chores around the
house because of how his skills and determination proved his survival during the Holocaust. The way
these types of memories help us today by remembering the color and tint of them is quite simple. We
achieve this by learning from our past experiences, good or bad, and understanding the way people

The Charter Of The United Nations
Chapter I | United Nations. UN News Center. UN, n.d. Web. 21 Mar. 2016. This article was a posting
of the first chapter of the Charter of the United Nations. In it, it details the purposes and principles of
the United Nations thus allowing me to have a better understanding of why the United nations was
created. It was created for the purpose of maintaining international peace and security, and to that end:
to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the
suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful
means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement
of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace. Overall, the
organization is meant to maintain peaceful relations and create peaceful resolutions to conflicts. The
source is reliable as it was written by the United Nations, the organization it is describing, and their
was no extra writing added to it, it was just the charter itself.

The Jung Typology Test Adequate Depiction Of My Personality
The Jung Typology Test provided information that was, for the most part, expected. These results do
seem to be an accurate depiction of my personality. This said, my belief is that the results could
change depending on who I associate with at the time. This is perhaps the reason why the percentages
are fairly low on the final report. This test is beneficial to everyone as the information it gives points
out your strengths and weaknesses. For example, I am a natural introvert which means it is generally
my preference to work alone. Consequently, it will be extremely difficult to progress in the future if I
am unable to team up with others. This test identifies this issue and allows myself to adjust
accordingly. On the other hand, my preferences

Suicide In Virgil Essay
In her Marlowe s Virgil: Dido Queen of Carthage, Roma Gill argues that Marlowe changed the
character of Dido into a more sound character by making the suicide scene in which Dido has a
soliloquy more heroic. She says that Dido becomes more resourceful and proud after the storm scenes
after which she disappears from the plot for a while. It is, thus, disappointing for Gill to see Dido burn
the relics of Aeneas, which constitutes an unnecessary melodrama according to Gill. What Gill calls a
melodrama appears to me as an act to monumentalize both Aeneas and Dido s love for him. To me,
Dido herself regards her death as a monument that will spread Aeneas fame in the way that Dido
wants him to be known, that is, not as a brave soldier he has come to be known as, but as a ruthless
lover who has devastated a devoted queen.
Suicide is an act during which you have the fullest activeness and after which you fall to complete
passivity. Thus, through her suicide, Dido falls from being a subject to being an object. Then, as she
exercises her fullest potential as a subject, Dido creates two objects: one is the object of herself as a
dead queen, and the other is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He points out the fact that the papers from Aeneas were never mentioned in the Aeneid and thus must
be an appropriation of Marlowe s. Yet, Marlowe continues the scene with some direct borrowings
from Virgil not only in content but also in language. The very last words of Dido, the last act of her
being a full subject, are directly taken from the past, which again emphasizes that Marlowe kills the
future along with the past. Too accentuate it even further, Marlowe makes Iarbus and Anna join the
suicide of Dido and ends the story exactly there, leaving no future within the text

Time Cover Analysis
Time cover has a symbolic design. The word Time rests on top of the page centered like normal, while
tiny words Al Qaeda: The Next Generation sit beneath it. Below those words, a stack of matches stand
upright with the face of the leader of Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden plastered on all the match heads. A
bright red border surrounds the cover art. To appeal to their audience, Time uses certain methods.
Time places matches on the cover, to appeal to an international audience through symbolism. Matches
start fires. Not only this, but matches can spread fires, as matches ignite when coming into contact with
flames. Either way, matches lead to fire, which literally and figuratively correlates to violence, danger,
and destruction . Time uses this symbolism to show how they perceive Al Qaeda s behavior, which
impacts the people who read their magazine, national and international individuals (cite). Using the
picture, people will see a connection between matches and Al Qaeda and have an image in their heads
of not only what Al Qaeda s true intentions are, but also how dangerous they can become. With this in
mind, they will purchase the magazine to learn more, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Magnetic Data Essay
3. DATAAND METHODOLOGY 3.1. Magnetic Data The used data are based on the reduced to pole
(RTP) aeromagnetic data (Fig. 2) with contour interval of 20 nT, scale 1:250,000 (total field of the
area is 41,400 nT, inclination angle is 37.4 degrees and declination angle is +1.6 degrees). The
magnetic data was compiled for the Eastern Desert and the Red Sea, based on Meshref (1990) and
available in Saad (1991). The Union Oil Company carried out this survey in 1974. Fig. (2): 3.2.

The centroid of the magnetic source Z0 can be estimated by fitting a straight line over the low
wavenumber portion of the radially averaged frequency scaled power spectrum as shown in the
flowing formula: ............ (2) Where D is a constant. Therefore, Zt and Z0 of the magnetic body can be
determined. The basal depth (Zb) of any magnetic source can be resulted (Okubo et al., 1985; Tanaka
et al., 1999) as: Zb= 2Z0 Zt........................ (3) The obtained bottom depth (Zb) of the magnetic source
is equivalent to the CPD. (Bhattacharyya and Leu 1975; Okubo et al. 1985). At Zb, Ferromagnetic
minerals are loss their magnetization due to a temperature of about 580º C. Spector and Grant (1970)
generalized their energy power spectrum expression of the map by assuming that the anomalies of any
magnetic map are come from a group of vertical magnetic prisms. Smith et al. (1974), Boler (1978)
and Connard et al. (1983) applied the expression of this energy power spectrum to define the depth of
the deepest magnetic layer. To link the CPD (Zb) with the Curie point isotherm (580ºC), the vertical
direction of temperature variation and the constant geothermal gradient were assumed. The
geothermal gradient (dT/dZ) from the CPD (Zb) to the earth s surface can be derived (Tanaka et al.

To demonstrate the unconscious processes, called schemas , of our minds, Nisbett provides diagrams
and excerpt passages from the experiments that he references such that the audience can test
themselves and realize his truth (18). Right at the start, he presents the words self confident ,
Independent , adventurous , and persistent and follows with a paragraph of a hypothetical mountain
climber (19). The paragraph apparently aligns with the words that were previously presented, and if
words such as reckless or conceited were shown, the climber would align with those. Nisbett actively
demonstrates the reader s own schema and specifically chooses demonstrations like this to prove how
influential these schema can be, enough to form our

Essay About The Disintegration Of Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia was a very successful country under the lead of Josip Broz Tito. Yugoslavia was made of 6
Republics and those were: Croatia, Montenegro ,Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia,
Macedonia and Kosovo together with Vojvodina which at that time were recognized as provinces.
After the death of Tito Yugoslavia began to demolish. The collapse of Yugoslavia began in 1980, and
it continued until the 27th of April 1992, which in history is known as the date when Yugoslavia
totally collapsed. In my opinion, the reason that the disintegration of Yugoslavia happened was
because of the decline in absolute sovereignty. In this paper, I am going to talk about the definition of
sovereignty, different perspectives about the disintegration of Yugoslavia from some authors and the
decline in absolute sovereignty which led to the disintegration of Yugoslavia.
So, what is sovereignty? It is the capability of a country to govern itself. Thus, citizens are the ones
who decide about creating government, institutions and choosing representatives of their state.
Yugoslavia constituted several republics, but none of them possessed the complete autonomy because

there were so many, that s why different people have different opinions towards this issue as for what
reason might have had the most influence. Explanations for Yugoslavias disintegration start from
cultural reasons, continuing to religious and then oppressed rights between the different groups within
the nation and so on.
According to Alan Thornett, after the death of Tito, Slobodan Milosevic wanted to expand its Serbian
territory and make a greater Serbia, by gathering together all regions that are inhabited by Serbs. This

Social Injustice Book Review
Social Injustice Book Review
Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling.
The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is social
justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists that we all
accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society .
Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5 causes
have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future, these contend,
lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of
oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has
now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5 tenants
of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst giving us examples of how
these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past and present is briefly explained to
us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in
later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect/have affected certain domains within
our society.
These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed and
Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of: Education
(ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease).
Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or claim to reject
them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The New 62 By Michael Strand Essay
The New 62
Michael Strand is a 62 year old who has worked with children for 40 years as a coach, counselor, and
mentor. Due to his business, he maintains strong ties to his community. He is also strongly driven and
motivated by his wife and kids. While interviewing Michael, he didn t shy away from sharing his
personal stories and experiences that helped him become the person he is now. He was honest and
became emotional when sharing his long time stressors that began in his early adolescence. In
addition, the moment he described his obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and his triggers, it
became noticeable throughout the interview the types of patterns he created. These patterns included
cleaning and placement of drinks on a coffee table. However, he was humorous and insightful when
he made jokes that revolved around the societal stereotype of an old man and his capabilities. The
interview as a whole undertook different forms of emotions as Strand explained the consequences to
his drug use in his adolescence, overdosing twice, and living on the streets from 15 to 17 years old. All
of which made a big impact on him while growing out of adolescence up to his early 30s. Although
his life began troubled, his quality of life seemed to have improved as he entered his adulthood to late
adulthood years.
Biological Forces

The support system for renewable energy in Romania, i.e. quota system with tradable green
certificates, was launched in 2004 in order to achieve two goals: to reduce the prices for consumers
and to protect the generators of renewable electricity. Wind energy, solar energy, biomass, micro hydro
and geothermal energy are all sources of energy that can be supported by this system [68].
The trading of green certificates is ensured by OPCOM (green certificates market operator) who
establishes the prices on the centralized market of green certificates. The green certificates are sold on
the green certificates market, independently from electricity sold on the electricity market. The green

Renewable electricity producers operate both on the electricity market (as producers of electricity),
and on the green certificates market (as owners of green certificates). If they do not fulfill the annual
mandatory quota, then they have to pay a penalty equal to the value of the green certificates not
purchased. The payment is made to Transelectrica S.A., who is the power grid company.
The evolutions of the Romanian economy and energy sector, as well as the international trends have
induced the necessity of updating the strategies, policies, plans and programs previously developed.
The Romanian Energy Strategy for the period 2007 2020 updated for the period 2011 2020 states as
the overall objective of the energy sector to meet the energy needs both now and in the medium and
long term, at the lowest possible price, suitable for a modern economy, and a decent standard of living,
in terms of quality and energy security, respecting the principles of sustainable development [61].
Having in mind the role of energy in society and in all economic sectors, the development of this
sector is made under the supervision of the state, through the development and the implementation of
the sector strategy.
For the promotion of renewable energy sources the strategy envisages the following measures [61]:
Development of the use of renewable energy sources for electricity and heat production through

Because additional galvanizing units were expected to be put into operation, the demand for zinc was
expected to grow continuously. In 2006, domestic consumption and exports of lead acid batteries, the
main lead consuming industry, had increased by 20 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively over 2005
levels. On the supply side, capacity growth was constrained by a lack of high quality mines and
limited smelter capacity. SZLN forecasted that this growth trend in the demand for lead and zinc
products would continue and, thus, increased its annual capacity to 180,000 tons of lead zinc ore and
400,000 tons of metal products. This expansion was financed by issuing 60 million new shares from
which SZLN received proceeds of RMB700 million. Output of ore in 2007 was approximately 99,900
tons of zinc and 45,500 tons of lead. Metal output was 181,500 tons of zinc metal products and 92,200
tons of lead electrodes. Thus, the firm was required to purchase ore from both domestic and
international companies to feed its manufacturing operations. The prices of lead and zinc in 2007
fluctuated like a roller coaster. In a review of the competitive situation in 2008, SZLN made the
following key observations: Page 3 9B10N007 According to the data, the total capacity of the top 10
domestic lead zinc companies was less than 50 per cent of domestic total capacity, which indicated a
fragmented industry. In 2007, upstream companies expanded downstream, and some

Comparing Epic Of Gilgamesh And Noah
Compare/Contrast of Gilgamesh and Noah The Epic of Gilgamesh has been a huge interest in people
since the nineteenth century with its theme of a universal flood and is parallel to the story Noah and

People have many different myths on how the world was created while these two myths focus on a

How Did Alfred The Great Influence Society
The middle ages was a period of great territorial and social instability throughout Europe. After the
fall of Rome, the Byzantine Empire gained control in the east, while in the west however, no single
empire arose from Rome s ashes (citation). During the 800s or near the end of the early medieval ages,
Christians in southern England were in constant battle with the Danes who controlled northern
Europe. These groups of seven kingdoms in southern England were known as the Anglo Saxons.
Among the leaders of the seven Anglo Saxon kingdoms who were threatened by the Danes march
toward the south was Alfred the Great, Ruler of the small kingdom of Wessex. After uniting the Anglo
Saxon Kingdoms (Southern England) and defeating then Danes in the battle of Ethandun, Alfred the

Alfred the Great was born in Wantage, United Kingdom sometime in 849 AD. As the 4th and youngest
son of his father, Æthelwulf of Wessex, Alfred was never expected to succeed to the throne of Wessex,
but after his brother Aethelred s death in 871 he became King of Wessex. As king he united seven
Anglo Saxon kingdoms and began his military campaign against the ever closing threat, the Vikings.
One of Alfred s greatest accomplishments was his ability to lead his military into battle and protect his
people by repelling Viking raids on the Anglo Saxon kingdoms. Alfred accomplished this by the
formation of a standing army whose main purpose was to provide Wessex with a military group that
was mobile enough to quickly intercept Viking raiders and prevent raids from threatening Wessex
civilians (Reuter 220). Although these small military groups may not have been as robust as a regular

The Great Gatsby Narrator Analysis
A narrator is a character who recounts the events of a novel. These characters narrate the novel in their
point of view and how they perceive the events that occur. Their narration may be unreliable due to
bias and dishonesty. F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a first person narrator,
tells the story through his point of view and interprets the events and characters in the novel. Nick is
an unreliable narrator because he is biased on his interpretations of the characters and the events that
occur, like Gatsby s death. For example, he speaks negatively of Tom throughout the novel, and
speaks highly of Gatsby due to their relationship. Nick s interpretation of Gatsby s death is seen as
unreliable because Nick s morals change, and he focuses the event on himself.
Nick s interpretations of the characters in the novel are biased due to the relationships he has with
them. Nick describes himself as one of the few honest people that [he has] ever known (Fitzgerald 59).
Nick desperately tries to prove that he is reliable and trustworthy, showing that he is insecure. Early in
the book, Nick shares the piece of advice that his father gave to him when he was younger. He says,
Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone . . . just remember that all the people in this world haven t
had the advantages that you ve had . . . I m inclined to reserve all judgments (1). Nick s desire to be an
authentic narrator, compels people to trust him and his side of the story.

How Romanticism Has Diminish Throughout Popularity
My part starts by talking about how romanticism had diminish in popularity. The book talks about
how drama was in a period of conflict, in which serious romantics wanted Art to target a sensitive
audience making it more limited. In contrast, extremist wanted to created closet drama which means
that they wanted plays to be read instead of been acted. By 1840s romanticism was no longer a
movement and even though it had effectively ended with neoclassicism it did not changed theatre
completely. Romanticism established the idea of an artist as someone who was exceptional,
sentimental, with great abilities, and inspired. It also established Art as something important just like a
religion. In my opinion, we still share those ideas especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I think that his ideas were fascinating because he tried to go away from the standard idea of assigning
places according to the person s importance in society but rather made the actors the main focus for
everyone. I think of this as a way to make the audience all the same making the actors the only
celebrities in the room. Also the idea that everyone had the same opportunity to the same view went
away By the nineteenth century melodramas and sentimental comedies were popular in commercial
theater. However, reformers saw these plays as a waste of resources because they wanted plays to
portray stories that could be considered more seriously by the audience. The need for more seriousness
in plays eventually lead to the creation of realism. As mentioned by Boime, realism was committed to
reproducing aspects of the unstable world of sensory perception (77). The idea of realism was to
create plays that portrayed everyday life and events. As time changed and more problems in society
emerge, such as industrialization and inequality, plays also transformed. For instance, radical realists
wanted plays to portray this events as a way to not only represent current situations but also as a way
to promote a change for these situations. In other words, the main idea of realism was to question and
challenge the current state of society. We have to think that during this period of time science was
evolving and society was more open to acknowledge it. The

″Ellis Bell . It was originally written by Emily Bronte who died the same year at the age of thirty.
Emily Bronte was born on 30 July 1818 in the village of Thornton, West Riding of Yorkshire, in
Northern England, to Maria Branwell and an Irish father, Patrick Bronte. She was the younger sister of
Charlotte Bronte and the fifth of six children, though the two oldest girls, Maria and Elizabeth, died in
childhood of tuberculosis. In 1820, shortly after the birth of Emily s younger sister Anne, the family
moved eight miles away to Haworth, where Patrick was employed as perpetual curate; here the
children developed their literary talents. Wuthering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The genre further continued to become popular throughout the romantic period and its characteristics
were adopted into various modes of literature, including, Wuthering Heights. It is a tale of tragic love
and all consuming passion, these romantic themes and a sense of horror and the supernatural combine
to make Wuthering Heights a Gothic novel. Quintessential elements of Gothic fiction include the
above mentioned themes as well as grotesque imagery, dark and foreboding mansions and landscapes,
chaos, pain and doomed love, all themes present in Bronte s work. Gothic elements are used by Bronte
in allowing the novel to transcend the binds of the merely romantic. She uses the Gothic style to evoke
terror and fear.
The Gothic atmosphere is frequently transmitted through the setting of an antiquated or seemingly
antiquated space, such as castles or mansions in faraway countries, and through raging storms, dark
nights, tyranny, incarceration, and torture (Morris 301). When considering the abovementioned criteria
for a narrative to be categorized as being a Gothic, there can be no doubt that Emily Bronte s story of
the self contained world of Wuthering Heights, indeed, is a Gothic

The Epic Of The Iliad
Throughout the epic of the Iliad, there are a multitude of moral lessons. It is a story of war, loss, love,
and forgiveness. The main character, Achilles, faces many difficult decisions where he is faced with
discerning what is right and what is wrong. This is the focus of the epic in whole, but there is a
definite emphasis on morality in Book 24. In this book, not only does Achilles face this struggle, but
Priam as well. The vision of morality that emerges from the Iliad is understanding the importance of
forgiveness. Homer uses the Iliad as an ethical guide for readers. He shows how making the right
moral choice, forgiving, leads to closure and a more peaceful life.

Homer is using Priam to portray a mindset for his readers of a sympathetic and compassionate attitude
to have even after something terrible has happened. This is his way of teaching that forgiving is the
moral thing to do. It is evident that forgiveness of enemies is important to Homer and an influential
lesson to the Mycenaean people.
Along with Priam overcoming his feelings and forgiving Achilles, Achilles has to learn to forgive
himself and give Hector s body back. With these words he awoke in Achilles a longing to weep for his
own father. Taking the old man s hand, Achilles gently put him from him, and they were both
overcome by their memories: (40.) Achilles feels empathy toward Priam s loss because he lost his own
father. Achilles also seems to feel a bit of guilt for killing Hector when Priam shows so much respect.
Achilles must forgive himself in order to understand how Priam has forgiven him. Homer uses this to
show that even the strong feel weak at times. Priam encouraged Achilles to relate to his feelings and
through that, Achilles was able to put himself in Priam s shoes and finally agree to give Hector s body
to his father. The notion of compassion that is implied in this book is relatable to readers. Everyone
faces loss in life and it usually results in blame, anger, and questioning. Achilles is an example of
overcoming those things. He overcomes his ego and his spite towards Priam for having the nerve

How Does Jetblue Compare And Contrast Virgin Southwest And...
2. Competitive Environment
JetBlue has been recognized for offering cheap flights to business travelers, in the same way that other
airlines come up with similar offers for different types of travelers. In 2009, (case study) JetBlue was
on top of the list of the low cost carriers. The airline is classified as a major carrier, which means their
annual revenue starts at $1 billion, JetBlue has a $3 billion revenue, still and all it is mentioned that
JetBlue is smaller in comparison to other major airlines.
Over the years, one of the main competitors of jetBlue has been Southwest. In a 2009 report it was
mentioned that two other low cost airlines, Virgin America and SkyBus, were some of the biggest
competitors for jetBlue (case study); however, a 2013 analysis might have suggested in some way that
JetBlue was about to have new airlines to compete with, Singapore Airlines and Emirates Airlines, by
introducing new features and technological innovation in their offerings (Popova, 2013). Airlines are
implementing these improvements in order to attract more customers that look for comfort, but at the
same time affordability. It can increase the competitivity, but it is not noticeable immediately.
Even though, JetBlue is not directly competing with other international airlines, a comparison and
contrast with competitors such as Southwest and Virgin America can be seen in small, but important
details such as the baggage allowance. JetBlue has fare options in order to find out the amount of
baggages admitted, the first fare is called Blue Flex, and it allows to bring a maximum of two checked
bags under 50 pounds at no cost, a third bag would cost $100; the second one, the Blue Plus fare
allows only one bag under 50 pounds, a second bag has a cost of $35, and a third bag would cost
$100; the third and last fare is called Blue and the first checked bag under 50 pounds has a cost of $25,
the second bag $35 and a third or fourth bag would cost $100 (JetBlue, 2017).
On the other hand, Southwest doesn t have specific fares to decide bag allowance, they simply allow 2
checked bags per customer at no cost (Southwest, 2017). Also, Virgin America which is another
competitor of JetBlue has a fee of $25 per checked bag

Medieval Art Essay
Medieval Art
In the art world, the medieval periods were traditionally though to be the unproductive phase of
Europe between the decline of Rome and the Renaissance. Our modern feelings toward medieval art
are far more appreciative. The main intent of Medieval art was to express Christianity which was also
a common bond between a wide spread and diverse Europe. For this reason most of the art found from
medieval times originated in monasteries and churches. European art during the Middle Ages can be
divided into four periods. These four periods include Celto Germanic art which ranged from 400 to
800 A.D. and was important in metal work. Carolingian art ranged from 750 to 987 A.D. overlapping
50 years of the Celto Germanic period. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Carolingian style is of small dimensions. Most of this style pulls its influence from Byzantine
artwork. An explanation for the sudden change from Celto Germanic styling can be attributed to the
new minuscule form of writing, remarkable for its clarity and form (Pioch). Metal work from this time
period is rare although writings tell us that goldsmiths and enamel workers remained active.
Romanesque The art of the Romanesque period was characterized by the revival of sculptures and
fresco painting. These were common elements of architecture. Along with those architectural
advancements the period produced frequent examples of realism as well as a heightened emphasis on
emotion and fantasy. The crusades acted as a main contributor to this time period lending more
religious and revolutionary imagery. Examples of Romanesque sculpture are dated back to the last
decade of the eleventh century and then first decades of the twelfth. The primary source of artistic
patronage was provided by the monastic institutions, for whom sculptors executed large relief
carvings for the decoration of church portals and richly ornate capitals for cloisters (Cleaver 156)
Another aspect of the Romanesque revival was the production of metalwork objects, of which many
outstanding examples, such as crucifixes, reliquary shrines, and candlesticks, are still preserved in
church treasuries. It was

How Did Turkey Geopolitics Influence Its Foreign Policy...
2.2 How did Turkey s geopolitics influence its foreign policy and foreign relation? The direction of
Turkey s foreign policy has shaped by many factors and geopolitics defiantly played an important part
in it. Turkey s foreign policies during the cold war are the product of westernization and the
democratic reforms of the 1930s. Thus, the Cold War s atmosphere had forced Turkey to make a
choice between the East and the West (CITATION). Since the reform Turkey s foreign policy was
mostly western oriented therefore Turkey decide to side by the west and became a member of North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 1952. However, NATO s reaction over the Cuban Missile
Crisis and the Cyprus conflict, made Turkey questioned the accountability of its American allies far
across the ocean. Therefore, Turkey stated to improve foreign relations and build economic and
political ties with the Eastern bloc and neighboring Islamic countries. This was not an axis shift in
Turkish foreign policy, but a multidimensional policy with a more proactive, practical and cooperative

Snap Crackle Frack
DIMOCK, PA Norma Fiorentino s drinking water well was a time bomb. For weeks, as workers
drilled natural gas deposits nearby, stray methane worked into tiny crevasses in the rock, leaking
upward into the aquifer and slipping quietly into her well. Then, according to the state s working
theory, a pump turned on in her well house, flicked a spark, and caused a New Year s morning blast
that tossed aside a several thousand pound concrete slab. Afterward state officials found methane, the
largest ingredient of natural gas, in her drinking water. Drilling for natural gas has caused explosions,

Hydraulic fracturing is exempt from key federal water protections, and federal and state regulators
allowed unchecked expansion of fracturing, creating widespread environmental degradation. Due to
inadequate numbers of state and federal inspectors wells go without inspection or oversight.
(Thompson, Hydraulic Fracturing Should Be Banned. n. pg.) Substandard well encasements failed and
the toxic chemicals and gas seep into the water table. A study by Duke University showed the

ethane concentrations were 23 times higher in samples from homes within a kilometer of drilling. The
methane, ethane and propane data, and new evidence from hydrocarbon and helium content, suggest
that drilling affected homeowners water, said Robert B. Jackson, a professor of environmental

CCPM methodology tackles resource contention before the project begins, aggregate the safety in
specified locations (buffers) rather then leaving it. The critical chain path typically is not the same as
the traditional critical path. CCPM is not merely a scheduling technique. The CCPM methodology
explicitly states that without the necessary changes in the scheduling rules will not only fail to achieve
improvement but may actually degrade performance.
Event chain methodology, a new way of scheduling is an uncertainty modeling and schedule network
analysis technique that is focused on identifying and managing events and event chains that affect
project schedules. Event chain methodology helps to mitigate the negative impact of psychological
heuristics and biases, as well as to allow for easy modeling of uncertainties in the project schedules.
Event Chain Methodology Objectives:
1. Mitigate effect motivational and cognitive biases in estimating and scheduling. In many cases,
project managers intentionally or unintentionally create project schedules that are impossible to
implement.
2. Simplify the process of defining risks and uncertainties in project schedules, particularly improve
the ability to provide reality checks and visualize multiple events.
3. Perform more accurate quantitative analysis while taking to an account such factors as relationship
between different events and actual moment of the events. Intaver Institute (N.D)

Brazos Theological Argumentary On The Bible Exodus
On the individual side of commentaries, I used the Brazos theological commentary on the bible
exodus by Thomas Joseph White to analyze Ex 2:1 21. The main difference with The New Interpreter
s Bible is that this book seems to be solely focus on the events in exodus. Before the introduction we
are given a set of series prefaces compose of acknowledgements and abbreviations to help us read the
book. The organization of the book starts with an index named contents where we are given the
number of chapters and subcategories of these chapters. In the chapter part we start with Introduction,
then Deliverance from Egypt: Exodus 1 12, Wilderness: Exodus 13 18, Covenant: Exodus 19 24,
Cultic Rituals: Exodus 25 31, and at last Fall and Eschatological Restoration: Exodus 32 40. The
introduction is divided in three categories, the darkness and light of god, the division of the book of
exodus, the four senses of scripture. These points summarize of the book literally. First the darkness
and light of god, Mr. Joseph White argues that the dense dark aspects are often around us. Sometimes
we get the idea that God has abandoned us. We may think so because we have always seen God as a
God of dazzling brilliance (Rev. 21:11; Hebrews 12:29) and God in good times. However, this type of
idea is challenged when one reads Exodus 20:21 As the people stood in the distance, Moses
approached the dark cloud where God was. Where the author of the commentary gives us a basic

Disadvantages Of Antitrust Law
Chief Justice Roberts stated courts in the U.S. have historically granted injunctions upon a finding of
infringement since the 19th century. The Antitrust Division in the U.S. also admits a patent owner s
rights to exclude are similar to the rights enjoyed by owners of other forms of private property in the
Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property. Therefore, as a fundamental principle,
antitrust law does not generally prohibit the holder of any other property right from seeking an
injunction to vindicate that right. The FTC has the right to regulate unfair methods of competition and
unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. During the
past two decades, the FTC has been heavily involved in several high profile SEP disputes, including
Dell Computer Corp., N Data, Rambus Inc. v. FTC, Motorola Mobility, and Bosch GmbH. The FTC
generally invokes competition law as a basis for investigation over these cases under Section 2 of the
Sherman Act and Section 7 of the Clayton Act. The particular concern ... Show more content on

relief. For example, in Bosch GmbH, the FTC dictated that Bosch GmbH can only seek injunctions

the order prohibits Google/Motorola from making any future claims for injunctions over a F/RAND

Local control, has become beneficial in a sense. For instance, having education managed by the
people of the city who deal on the daily basis with it, is a great way to describe a form of local control.
The congressmen are more likely not to have a degree on education, therefor their input, with all

Different Cooperative Communication Schemes Like Relay...
Abstract
In this survey, we will discuss about different cooperative communication schemes like Relay
communication and Node cooperative system. Later on we will perform comparison between
conventional communication system and cooperative relay scheme based on power efficiency. We will
also discuss about various factors that will impact the efficiency of cooperative systems. We will
conclude with applications of cooperative communication in LTE advanced.
Cooperative communication
Technological convergence in telecommunications and networking has made it possible to bring
voice, data (internet) and other multimedia services over single channel. This has led to significant
increase in network resource demands especially for wireless networks. To address these tremendous
network demands we need to use communication resources efficiently i.e., through Cooperative
communications.
Cooperative communication system uses intelligent nodes or base stations that can consciously help
other nodes to transfer information from the source to the final destination with increased spectral
efficiency and extended coverage in case of Cellular Base stations.
Cooperation in the communication networks can be realized using Relaying and Node Cooperative
systems [1].
Relay communication system
In Relay system, first transmitter sends the data to the relay node and information received by the
relay node is forwarded to next node and finally to the destination receiver by following cooperation

Ethnic Stereotypes
Stereotyping of ethnic characters Stereotyping of ethnic characters has been done for decades with the
issue becoming more controversial in todays society. The popularity of films on the dependence of one

Directors have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters. The stereotyping of ethic
culture can have a great impact on todays society by causing self insecurities, sexism, and, racism. In
todays movie films you will see the portrayal of women being displayed as the weak, victim needing
to be saved. This is especially common in the Chinese films throughout Asia, and here in the United

and have always been displayed as the victim, or the weak whore in Asian films. This can effect
todays young society by giving them a false image that this is what todays women are. The need to

In the novel the WINDFLOWER, there is a presence of two different cultures the western culture and

western people tried to assimilate their culture. Interestingly, the author, Gabrielle Roy decided to

only Uncle Ian and Winnie. Even still, many of the Eskimos are shown to believe that the western

and many had already assimilated is shown in a subtle touch provided by the first chapter that showed
how accepting the Eskimos were to the close proximity of the whites. In page 6, the author writes,

effect than one would expect. These clothes originated from western culture, if the whites were not

conditions in how many participants reported liking the logo. Thus, it was noted that the effect size
was small and therefore the hypothesis made, that more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, although these findings were not consistent with earlier work into the theory of evaluative
conditioning such as that shown by Chen et al. (2012) cited in Brace (2014, p.160) and Hollands et al.
(2011) cited in The Open University (2014), many factors might be present into why this study did not
accurately support this work. For example, choosing participants from amongst family and friends
might make them feel pressurised, to give answers that they believed were wanted. Thus, giving false
results when the data is analysed. This is a limitation as participants should be unconnected to the
researchers running the experiment. Yet the number of participants selected not being too many or too
small struck the right balance between size and effectiveness, this being a strength. Additionally, only
having a Yes or No answer, might limit the kind of data collected, and is another limitation. However,
if participants also wrote a short explanation of why they either disliked or liked the Logo, then more
precise data may have been obtained. Also, it can be argued, the subject matter used may not have
been a positive enough reinforcement image to show participants, for them to reinforce a positive
pairing with the DE100 IPTV logo. Since it could be proposed that participants may have some form
of bias towards liking celebrities over other reinforcing images, as celebrities are constantly seen on
screen and in publications. Furthermore, when showing happy smiling

The Influence Of Philosophical Thinking During The...
The Enlightenment was a wide spread movement in philosophical thinking within Europe throughout
the 1700s. Prior to the Enlightenment, the Scientific Revolution in the 15 and 1600s set up the basis of
secular and introspective thinking that is characteristic to the enlightenment. During the age of
Enlightenment, many philosophers began to question the power and goals of the government as well
as the powers and rights of the people. These philosophers came together just as scientific thinkers had
come together during the Scientific Revolution in order to discuss and build on each others ideas in
the search of perfection. Critical thinking changed during the enlightenment in several ways: first,
political thought became less secular and sought to find the actual purpose of a government; next,
philosophes attempted to determine what rights were given to governments and to people; and finally,
during this time ideas on toleration and the rights of individuals were expanded greatly. In medieval
times, most European civilians followed laws based on the church. Their compliance of the law was
based on fear of governmental and religious punishments. Throughout the Renaissance, the Scientific
Revolution, and the eventual Enlightenment, people s views on government began to become more
secular. Many people began to view their leaders as less of a tool to punish them for sin and tried to
determine the actual purpose of their government. In his Second Treatise on Government, John

Me Talk Pretty One Day Summary
Bonne Année by Jean Pierre Benoît and Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris are memoirs which
are very similar and different. Theme, tone, and character development all help to compare and
contrast these memoirs. Both texts have a large amount of these literary devices. Bonne Année is
about a Haitian child who grows up and learns to love Haiti. He is the narrator of the story. At first, he
doesn t want to go back to Haiti after dictator François Duvalier (Papa Doc) leaves his country or the
world. He is told that this will happen soon. As the narrator grows up, he watches a world cup soccer
match: Italy vs. Haiti. This is still in New York, his home from before. Italy, a country that hasn t been
scored on for two years, gets scored on by the Haitians in the match. Even though Haiti loses, the
narrator feels proud for his natal country. In Me Talk Pretty One Day , the narrator tries to learn
French in Paris. He is given a very strict teacher who hates everyone in the class, especially him. At
the end, though, all is revealed. The narrator can perfectly understand the teacher. The theme of both
these texts is similar and different. In Bonne Année , one quote is this: Perhaps the natal pull is
stronger than it seems. (Benoît 36). One theme of this story is that homeland is very important. In Me
Talk Pretty One Day , though, there is a different theme. The teacher proceeded to belittle everyone
from German Eva, who hated laziness, to Japanese Yukari, who loved

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Reagan s Address
Rhetorical Analysis of President Reagan s Address to the Nation about the Explosion of the Space
Shuttle Challenger
Perhaps no greater tragedy defines the American Race for Space than the explosion of the Space
Shuttle Challenger before millions of Americans as they watched on live TV in 1986. Building on two
decades of successful space exploration kicked off by President Kennedy before his death, by the early
eighties the American culture both believed that it was our right to fly into space and that no one did it
better than we did. NASA had sent mission after mission into space over more than twenty years, each
one accomplishing space exploration goals and building the reputation that America owned the stars.
That day in January of 1986 was supposed to be another of those successes as the Challenger lifted off
from Cape Canaveral carrying not only professional astronauts into space but also one everyday
person, teacher Christa McAuliffe. Instead, the world watched as after seventy three seconds after
liftoff hopes and dreams exploded with the Challenger leaving astronauts dead, the space program in
jeopardy and America grieving and looking for answers. How leadership responded, what they said
and did, would be really important to how the nation dealt with the loss and to the future of the space
program. The man for the job was President Ronald Reagan, whose address to the nation appealed to
the public on an emotional and logical level and helped to ensure that they

Influence of the Eu on Democracy in the Uk
Influence of the EU on Democracy in the UK One of the objectives of the creation of the European
Union was to develop a single market and remove trading barriers so there would be standardisation
of technical regulations and convergence of conditions between European markets. With this in mind,
it saw the need for employers and employees to work together in order to achieve this. The main
statement of the European social policy is the Social Charter (approved by 11 of the then 12 member
states) which seeks to improve working and living conditions and ensure the effective use of human
resource across the EU. This policy seeks to guarantee rights to individuals in areas such as freedom
of movement, improved living and working standards, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The IRA plays a big role in ensuring that employees are fairly treated in the workplace. Organizations
have opted to implement employee relations policies within their organizations as well. These provide
a forum for employee participation and employee involvement. Although organizations in Trinidad
and Tobago are governed by legislation, it is still ineffective in many instances. There are cases where
the recognized majority trade union defy the law and do not comply with the regulations of the IRA.
An example is the No Work Day Campaign by the Public Services Association in January, 2011. This
protest would clearly go against section 69 (1) where public servants are not allowed to take industrial
action. In relation to participation in the EU, various countries have different approaches to
encouraging employee participation. For example, in Germany, a system called co determination is
used where employees and their representatives are involved in all decisions relating to personnel and
other aspects of company policy. It is supported by legislation and involves three methods by which
workers can participate. These methods include a Works Council, Supervisory Board, and
Management Board. Works Councils are formed where there are more than five workers and consists
only of workers representatives. They have rights to receive information on health and safety, jobs,
work changes that adversely affect employees, and the

Normal Aging
What?
Description:
Normal aging brings about inevitable and irreversible changes. These normal aging changes are
partially responsible for the increased risk of developing health related problems within the elderly
population. I associated being old with decline, disability, disease and death. However, reflecting on
realities of ageing and my grandfather s health, I realized that ageing does not imply only declining
health, but it is also associated with wellness. My grandfather is 88 years old. I had always been lucky
to have my grandparents healthy. However, this changed about 10 years ago when my grandfather had
a heart problem and had to get coronary angioplasty, which caused him to require extra care from my
grandmother and family.
Response:
Watching my family deal with my grandfather during that situation made me aware of the care and
services the elderly need. I thought after having a stent placement, his health ... Show more content on

How people view and perceive the aging process varies greatly from culture to culture. However, in
my opinion, it is important to understand that the older adults are much more capable than everybody
else because they have so much more knowledge and experience. Maybe they aren t more capable
physically, but in many other ways they really exceed everyone else s capability. They all have
different personalities, needs, health issues and age related changes. According to Boundless (2016),
Research on age related attitudes in the United States consistently finds that negative attitudes exceed
positive attitudes toward older people because of their looks and behavior (Aging and Ageism, para.
2). As a student nurse, reflecting on my values and beliefs helps to guide my nursing practice and
hopefully, I will be able to put an end on stigmatization associated with ageism (stereotyping and
discrimination of the older adults) that affect their self esteem, emotional well being, and

In the fiction novel The Uglies, Tally Youngblood is a fifteen year old girl with a rebellious spirit who
lives life on the edge of insanity. In The Uglies, Scott Westerfield uses conflict to reveal how Tally s
perspective of the Smoke and New Pretty Town has changed over the course of the story. This story
gives its reader a strong insight into some of life s adventures and the drama that comes along with
growing up, as well as the operation you get when you turn 16 years old. You can see Tally change
when she firsts starts traveling to the Smoke in search of her friend Shay. She changes a lot from the
life and death stuff that she goes through on her way to the Smoke. Tally almost falls off the cliff when
she is hover boarding, and you can tell it changes her from going fast and not reading between the
lines, so she starts to slow down and think before she acts. You can really see Tally change when the
Rangers save her from the fire that they started to get rid of the white tiger orchid flower. The white
tiger orchid is a flower that acts like a weed, and it is spreading all over the world. The only way to get
rid of it is by fire, and that is the Rangers job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Historical Elements Of Verdi Prati
The piece from my final recital programme that I chose to evaluate in this essay is Verdi Prati from
Handel s opera Alcina. Alcina was inspired by a story from an epic poem called Orlando Furioso ,
however, Handel s libretto is a very free adaption. This particular aria is of great importance in the
opera as we see the character Ruggerio predicting what is to come for Alcina and her magical island.
The historical elements of this opera are extremely important in understanding the true meaning of the
song Verdi Prati. In 1734, the period which was known as the Royal Academy of Music in British
opera came to an end as Handel lost the tenancy on the King s Theatre in London. Handel s opponents
took over the theatre, and the majority of his most important artists along with it. When he was offered
the use of a new theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything on her magical island is either an illusion created by Alcina herself or one of her former
lovers that she has transformed into a tree, rock, etc. The enchantress Alcina, is a deeply tense
character. She is fierce and manipulative and there is clear distinction between Alcina s moments of
honesty and her moments of lies. Her marvellous arias shock and captivate the listener in a similar
way in which she dominates her lovers. This takes a basic story in new directions. She shares the stage
mainly with Ruggiero, who under Alcina s spell, is her mortal husband and passionate lover and who
is a leading castrato. Ruggiero predicts her coming defeat and ultimate vengeance in his nostalgic aria
Verdi Prati. His role is full of delicate and elegant touches. Despite the fact that Alcina is evil, her
major weakness is, in fact, her love for Ruggerio who eventually provides her with a broken spirit and

United States Constitution
Novus Ordoro Seclorum is Latin for a new order for the ages. Why did Americans select the
constitutional order they did in 1787 1789, and why did they reject a more democratic and confederal
form not more than a decade old? Having initially hesitated in attending the Convention, once
decided, Washington pushed the delegates to adopt no temporizing expedient but instead to probe the
defects [of the Articles] to the bottom, and provide radical cures, from Matthew Spalding, Ph.D. At the
beginning of the Philadelphia debates in 1787, Edmond Randolph set aside the Articles of
Confederation and the Congress of Confederation, and instead created the skeleton of a new
constitution which included a Supreme National Government with ... Show more content on

The delegates wisely choose the chance of good. Considered at the Philadelphia Convention was a
Confederate government, the system from Articles of Confederation. One of many problems under a
confederacy is a weak federal government. From Generation Joshua, It must be understood that the
Articles of Confederation were really just an agreement between friends, a gentlemen s agreement...
The Confederation Congress was a shadow, while the true power rested with the individual states.
Instead of the federal government being able to do their job, the states ran the country. The
government was inhibited by its inability to govern. The states were being governed, not the people,
so the government was not doing its job, to govern the people, instead, it was governing the states. .
James Madison says, One characteristic, was that in a federal Government, the power was exercised
not on the people individually; but on the people collectively, on the States. However, the biggest
problem is that it simply did not work. Edmond Randolph, a delegate to the Philadelphia Convention
from Virginia, says I lament the crisis that revising the federal system has brought about, but I believe
that it is necessary to prevent the fulfillment of the prophecies of an imminent American downfall

In this era of globalization, news reporting is no longer...
In this era of globalization, news reporting is no longer just a means of communications, but it has
also developed into a tool for change. Prominent journalists like Julian Assange, Nick Davies, Sir
Charles Wheeler and many more has changed the landscape and outcomes of information, war and
news reporting itself. But Martin Bell has challenged the fundamentals of journalism that is to be
balanced and impartial with what he calls Journalism of Attachment . He even coined the phrase,
bystanders journalism for continuing the tradition of being distant and detached (Bell 1997), which he
criticizes for focusing with the circumstances of violence, such as military formations, weapons,
strategies, maneuvers and tactics (Gilboa 2009, p. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martin Bell comes from a position that is anti war, and knows that the influence of journalists could be
for better or worse, and without a doubt playing a huge role but that does not mean they are exclusive
from the society. This is not to back one side, or faction or people against another, it is to make a point
that we in the press, and especially the television which is its most powerful division, do not stand
apart from the world (Bell 1997, p. 8). To be objective as Phillip Hammond cited by David Loyn
(2007, p. 5) comprises three distinct, refined but interrelated concepts of truthfulness and acuracy,
neutrality, and emotional detachment , or in Martin Bell s term to be dispassionate, and it is exactly
this reason, that Bell have chose not to continue the traditional thoughts of journalism, for he is human
first, journalist second.
Bell s view was not fully appreciated and acknowledged, as there are various critics from scholars and
journalists alike. One of which is Wilhelm Kempf, he critiqued that Journalism of Attachment gives
the journalism too much authority, somewhat making them a judge to decide what is right or wrong. It
seems that Martin Bell s approach to conflicts and problems is to reduce it to a moral problem, and
that is one of the major underlying problems with it as he undermines his own professional authority

  • 2. The Passage Of Time Affects The Memory Of The Holocaust The passage of time affects our memories of the past by the memory content that we experience in life which shows us that the more changing experiences we have, the longer subjective duration lasts for. The bigger and more intense memories have a greater impact on the memories that we tend to hold on to and remember for lifetime. For example, a weekend spent at home doing our usual routines passes very quickly. In contrast, a weekend when we travel to a new destination with a friend lasts much longer or like in novels that we have read when the Nazi regime took over Europe and cause 60 million people to lose their lives. By stating this, I understand that we can recall many different, new, and catastrophic events. This memory load expands over time. Also, if we look into Maus when Vladek was once a wealthy man before the war, is brought to having to garner and reserve even the smallest of items, such as the wrapper from cheese, or the cigarettes from his rations. These items took on a huge importance to Vladek, and even years later, he feels unable to dispose them cause of what he had to go through. Vladek also has had a tough time asking for help doing daily chores around the house because of how his skills and determination proved his survival during the Holocaust. The way these types of memories help us today by remembering the color and tint of them is quite simple. We achieve this by learning from our past experiences, good or bad, and understanding the way people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In it, it details the purposes and principles of the United Nations thus allowing me to have a better understanding of why the United nations was created. It was created for the purpose of maintaining international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace. Overall, the organization is meant to maintain peaceful relations and create peaceful resolutions to conflicts. The source is reliable as it was written by the United Nations, the organization it is describing, and their was no extra writing added to it, it was just the charter itself. • 4. The Jung Typology Test Adequate Depiction Of My Personality The Jung Typology Test provided information that was, for the most part, expected. These results do seem to be an accurate depiction of my personality. This said, my belief is that the results could change depending on who I associate with at the time. This is perhaps the reason why the percentages are fairly low on the final report. This test is beneficial to everyone as the information it gives points out your strengths and weaknesses. For example, I am a natural introvert which means it is generally my preference to work alone. Consequently, it will be extremely difficult to progress in the future if I am unable to team up with others. This test identifies this issue and allows myself to adjust accordingly. On the other hand, my preferences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Suicide In Virgil Essay In her Marlowe s Virgil: Dido Queen of Carthage, Roma Gill argues that Marlowe changed the character of Dido into a more sound character by making the suicide scene in which Dido has a soliloquy more heroic. She says that Dido becomes more resourceful and proud after the storm scenes after which she disappears from the plot for a while. It is, thus, disappointing for Gill to see Dido burn the relics of Aeneas, which constitutes an unnecessary melodrama according to Gill. What Gill calls a melodrama appears to me as an act to monumentalize both Aeneas and Dido s love for him. To me, Dido herself regards her death as a monument that will spread Aeneas fame in the way that Dido wants him to be known, that is, not as a brave soldier he has come to be known as, but as a ruthless lover who has devastated a devoted queen. Suicide is an act during which you have the fullest activeness and after which you fall to complete passivity. Thus, through her suicide, Dido falls from being a subject to being an object. Then, as she exercises her fullest potential as a subject, Dido creates two objects: one is the object of herself as a dead queen, and the other is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He points out the fact that the papers from Aeneas were never mentioned in the Aeneid and thus must be an appropriation of Marlowe s. Yet, Marlowe continues the scene with some direct borrowings from Virgil not only in content but also in language. The very last words of Dido, the last act of her being a full subject, are directly taken from the past, which again emphasizes that Marlowe kills the future along with the past. Too accentuate it even further, Marlowe makes Iarbus and Anna join the suicide of Dido and ends the story exactly there, leaving no future within the text ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Time Cover Analysis Time cover has a symbolic design. The word Time rests on top of the page centered like normal, while tiny words Al Qaeda: The Next Generation sit beneath it. Below those words, a stack of matches stand upright with the face of the leader of Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden plastered on all the match heads. A bright red border surrounds the cover art. To appeal to their audience, Time uses certain methods. Time places matches on the cover, to appeal to an international audience through symbolism. Matches start fires. Not only this, but matches can spread fires, as matches ignite when coming into contact with flames. Either way, matches lead to fire, which literally and figuratively correlates to violence, danger, and destruction . Time uses this symbolism to show how they perceive Al Qaeda s behavior, which impacts the people who read their magazine, national and international individuals (cite). Using the picture, people will see a connection between matches and Al Qaeda and have an image in their heads of not only what Al Qaeda s true intentions are, but also how dangerous they can become. With this in mind, they will purchase the magazine to learn more, ... Magnetic Data The used data are based on the reduced to pole (RTP) aeromagnetic data (Fig. 2) with contour interval of 20 nT, scale 1:250,000 (total field of the area is 41,400 nT, inclination angle is 37.4 degrees and declination angle is +1.6 degrees). The magnetic data was compiled for the Eastern Desert and the Red Sea, based on Meshref (1990) and available in Saad (1991). The Union Oil Company carried out this survey in 1974. Fig. (2): 3.2. The basal depth (Zb) of any magnetic source can be resulted (Okubo et al., 1985; Tanaka et al., 1999) as: Zb= 2Z0 Zt........................ At Zb, Ferromagnetic minerals are loss their magnetization due to a temperature of about 580º C. Spector and Grant (1970) generalized their energy power spectrum expression of the map by assuming that the anomalies of any magnetic map are come from a group of vertical magnetic prisms. Smith et al. (1974), Boler (1978) and Connard et al. (1983) applied the expression of this energy power spectrum to define the depth of the deepest magnetic layer. To link the CPD (Zb) with the Curie point isotherm (580ºC), the vertical direction of temperature variation and the constant geothermal gradient were assumed. Schema By Nisbett To demonstrate the unconscious processes, called schemas , of our minds, Nisbett provides diagrams and excerpt passages from the experiments that he references such that the audience can test themselves and realize his truth (18). Right at the start, he presents the words self confident , Independent , adventurous , and persistent and follows with a paragraph of a hypothetical mountain climber (19). The paragraph apparently aligns with the words that were previously presented, and if words such as reckless or conceited were shown, the climber would align with those. • 9. Essay About The Disintegration Of Yugoslavia Yugoslavia was a very successful country under the lead of Josip Broz Tito. Yugoslavia was made of 6 Republics and those were: Croatia, Montenegro ,Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo together with Vojvodina which at that time were recognized as provinces. After the death of Tito Yugoslavia began to demolish. The collapse of Yugoslavia began in 1980, and it continued until the 27th of April 1992, which in history is known as the date when Yugoslavia totally collapsed. In my opinion, the reason that the disintegration of Yugoslavia happened was because of the decline in absolute sovereignty. In this paper, I am going to talk about the definition of sovereignty, different perspectives about the disintegration of Yugoslavia from some authors and the decline in absolute sovereignty which led to the disintegration of Yugoslavia. So, what is sovereignty? It is the capability of a country to govern itself. Thus, citizens are the ones who decide about creating government, institutions and choosing representatives of their state. Yugoslavia constituted several republics, but none of them possessed the complete autonomy because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Social Injustice Book Review Social Injustice Book Review Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling. The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is social justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists that we all accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society . Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5 causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future, these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5 tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect/have affected certain domains within our society. These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed and Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of: Education (ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease). Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or claim to reject them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to his business, he maintains strong ties to his community. He is also strongly driven and motivated by his wife and kids. While interviewing Michael, he didn t shy away from sharing his personal stories and experiences that helped him become the person he is now. He was honest and became emotional when sharing his long time stressors that began in his early adolescence. In addition, the moment he described his obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and his triggers, it became noticeable throughout the interview the types of patterns he created. These patterns included cleaning and placement of drinks on a coffee table. However, he was humorous and insightful when he made jokes that revolved around the societal stereotype of an old man and his capabilities. The interview as a whole undertook different forms of emotions as Strand explained the consequences to his drug use in his adolescence, overdosing twice, and living on the streets from 15 to 17 years old. All of which made a big impact on him while growing out of adolescence up to his early 30s. Although his life began troubled, his quality of life seemed to have improved as he entered his adulthood to late adulthood years. Biological Forces To begin with, social environment has heavily impacted the life Michael has created for himself. Since, OCD and the use of drugs are common in his family, ... Overview of the tradable green certificates system The support system for renewable energy in Romania, i.e. quota system with tradable green certificates, was launched in 2004 in order to achieve two goals: to reduce the prices for consumers and to protect the generators of renewable electricity. Wind energy, solar energy, biomass, micro hydro and geothermal energy are all sources of energy that can be supported by this system [68]. The trading of green certificates is ensured by OPCOM (green certificates market operator) who establishes the prices on the centralized market of green certificates. Because additional galvanizing units were expected to be put into operation, the demand for zinc was expected to grow continuously. In 2006, domestic consumption and exports of lead acid batteries, the main lead consuming industry, had increased by 20 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively over 2005 levels. On the supply side, capacity growth was constrained by a lack of high quality mines and limited smelter capacity. SZLN forecasted that this growth trend in the demand for lead and zinc products would continue and, thus, increased its annual capacity to 180,000 tons of lead zinc ore and 400,000 tons of metal products. This expansion was financed by issuing 60 million new shares from which SZLN received proceeds of RMB700 million. Output of ore in 2007 was approximately 99,900 tons of zinc and 45,500 tons of lead. Metal output was 181,500 tons of zinc metal products and 92,200 tons of lead electrodes. Thus, the firm was required to purchase ore from both domestic and international companies to feed its manufacturing operations. The prices of lead and zinc in 2007 fluctuated like a roller coaster. In a review of the competitive situation in 2008, SZLN made the following key observations: Page 3 9B10N007 According to the data, the total capacity of the top 10 domestic lead zinc companies was less than 50 per cent of domestic total capacity, which indicated a fragmented industry. These characters narrate the novel in their point of view and how they perceive the events that occur. Their narration may be unreliable due to bias and dishonesty. F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a first person narrator, tells the story through his point of view and interprets the events and characters in the novel. Nick is an unreliable narrator because he is biased on his interpretations of the characters and the events that occur, like Gatsby s death. For example, he speaks negatively of Tom throughout the novel, and speaks highly of Gatsby due to their relationship. Nick s interpretation of Gatsby s death is seen as unreliable because Nick s morals change, and he focuses the event on himself. Nick s interpretations of the characters in the novel are biased due to the relationships he has with them. Nick describes himself as one of the few honest people that [he has] ever known (Fitzgerald 59). Nick desperately tries to prove that he is reliable and trustworthy, showing that he is insecure. Early in the book, Nick shares the piece of advice that his father gave to him when he was younger. He says, Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone . . . just remember that all the people in this world haven t had the advantages that you ve had . . . I m inclined to reserve all judgments (1). Also the idea that everyone had the same opportunity to the same view went away By the nineteenth century melodramas and sentimental comedies were popular in commercial theater. However, reformers saw these plays as a waste of resources because they wanted plays to portray stories that could be considered more seriously by the audience. The need for more seriousness in plays eventually lead to the creation of realism. As mentioned by Boime, realism was committed to reproducing aspects of the unstable world of sensory perception (77). The idea of realism was to create plays that portrayed everyday life and events. As time changed and more problems in society emerge, such as industrialization and inequality, plays also transformed. For instance, radical realists wanted plays to portray this events as a way to not only represent current situations but also as a way to promote a change for these situations. Quintessential elements of Gothic fiction include the above mentioned themes as well as grotesque imagery, dark and foreboding mansions and landscapes, chaos, pain and doomed love, all themes present in Bronte s work. Gothic elements are used by Bronte in allowing the novel to transcend the binds of the merely romantic. She uses the Gothic style to evoke terror and fear. This is the focus of the epic in whole, but there is a definite emphasis on morality in Book 24. In this book, not only does Achilles face this struggle, but Priam as well. The vision of morality that emerges from the Iliad is understanding the importance of forgiveness. Homer uses the Iliad as an ethical guide for readers. Along with Priam overcoming his feelings and forgiving Achilles, Achilles has to learn to forgive himself and give Hector s body back. With these words he awoke in Achilles a longing to weep for his own father. Taking the old man s hand, Achilles gently put him from him, and they were both overcome by their memories: (40.) Achilles feels empathy toward Priam s loss because he lost his own father. Achilles also seems to feel a bit of guilt for killing Hector when Priam shows so much respect. Abstract In this survey, we will discuss about different cooperative communication schemes like Relay communication and Node cooperative system. Later on we will perform comparison between conventional communication system and cooperative relay scheme based on power efficiency. We will also discuss about various factors that will impact the efficiency of cooperative systems. We will conclude with applications of cooperative communication in LTE advanced. Cooperative communication Technological convergence in telecommunications and networking has made it possible to bring voice, data (internet) and other multimedia services over single channel. This has led to significant increase in network resource demands especially for wireless networks. To address these tremendous network demands we need to use communication resources efficiently i.e., through Cooperative communications. Cooperative communication system uses intelligent nodes or base stations that can consciously help other nodes to transfer information from the source to the final destination with increased spectral efficiency and extended coverage in case of Cellular Base stations. Cooperation in the communication networks can be realized using Relaying and Node Cooperative systems [1]. The popularity of films on the dependence of one s vulnerability is one to familiar for some ethnic groups, like the Asian culture. Hollywood writers and Directors have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters. The stereotyping of ethic culture can have a great impact on todays society by causing self insecurities, sexism, and, racism. In todays movie films you will see the portrayal of women being displayed as the weak, victim needing to be saved. This is especially common in the Chinese films throughout Asia, and here in the United States as well. Why do movies always seem to portray Asian women as tragic victims of history and fate? Hagedorn (pg. 343) As described in the No Joy, No Luck article, Jessica writes how women are, and have always been displayed as the victim, or the weak whore in Asian films. In history, we as the readers know that aboriginals were cruelly treated and the western people tried to assimilate their culture. Interestingly, the author, Gabrielle Roy decided to portray a part of the Eskimos in the novel, WINDFLOWER, as assimilated to create conflict with minor characters. The more notable characters that have been shown to defy the western cultures was only Uncle Ian and Winnie. Even still, many of the Eskimos are shown to believe that the western culture was the more dominant belief. The effect this had was that the interactions shown with the minor characters and Elsa. To touch on how the Eskimos thought that the white culture was superior and many had already assimilated is shown in a subtle touch provided by the first chapter that showed how accepting the Eskimos were to the close proximity of the whites. In page 6, the author writes, Nowadays they wore short dresses of flowered cotton, over which floated sweaters as shapeless as sacks , The effect of something as petty as clothing may not seem like much but it contains a larger effect than one would expect. These clothes originated from western culture, if the whites were not present the Eskimos would have been perfectly content with what they had parkas and pretty sealskin boots of former times (Pg 6). This can infer that the Eskimos already had a mindset of the western ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, although these findings were not consistent with earlier work into the theory of evaluative conditioning such as that shown by Chen et al. (2012) cited in Brace (2014, p.160) and Hollands et al. (2011) cited in The Open University (2014), many factors might be present into why this study did not accurately support this work. For example, choosing participants from amongst family and friends might make them feel pressurised, to give answers that they believed were wanted. Thus, giving false results when the data is analysed. This is a limitation as participants should be unconnected to the researchers running the experiment. Yet the number of participants selected not being too many or too small struck the right balance between size and effectiveness, this being a strength. Additionally, only having a Yes or No answer, might limit the kind of data collected, and is another limitation. However, if participants also wrote a short explanation of why they either disliked or liked the Logo, then more precise data may have been obtained. Also, it can be argued, the subject matter used may not have been a positive enough reinforcement image to show participants, for them to reinforce a positive pairing with the DE100 IPTV logo. Since it could be proposed that participants may have some form of bias towards liking celebrities over other reinforcing images, as celebrities are constantly seen on screen and in publications. • 41. The Influence Of Philosophical Thinking During The... The Enlightenment was a wide spread movement in philosophical thinking within Europe throughout the 1700s. Prior to the Enlightenment, the Scientific Revolution in the 15 and 1600s set up the basis of secular and introspective thinking that is characteristic to the enlightenment. During the age of Enlightenment, many philosophers began to question the power and goals of the government as well as the powers and rights of the people. These philosophers came together just as scientific thinkers had come together during the Scientific Revolution in order to discuss and build on each others ideas in the search of perfection. Critical thinking changed during the enlightenment in several ways: first, political thought became less secular and sought to find the actual purpose of a government; next, philosophes attempted to determine what rights were given to governments and to people; and finally, during this time ideas on toleration and the rights of individuals were expanded greatly. In medieval times, most European civilians followed laws based on the church. Their compliance of the law was based on fear of governmental and religious punishments. Throughout the Renaissance, the Scientific Revolution, and the eventual Enlightenment, people s views on government began to become more secular. Many people began to view their leaders as less of a tool to punish them for sin and tried to determine the actual purpose of their government. In his Second Treatise on Government, John ... Theme, tone, and character development all help to compare and contrast these memoirs. Both texts have a large amount of these literary devices. Bonne Année is about a Haitian child who grows up and learns to love Haiti. He is the narrator of the story. At first, he doesn t want to go back to Haiti after dictator François Duvalier (Papa Doc) leaves his country or the world. He is told that this will happen soon. As the narrator grows up, he watches a world cup soccer match: Italy vs. Haiti. This is still in New York, his home from before. Italy, a country that hasn t been scored on for two years, gets scored on by the Haitians in the match. Even though Haiti loses, the narrator feels proud for his natal country. In Me Talk Pretty One Day , the narrator tries to learn French in Paris. He is given a very strict teacher who hates everyone in the class, especially him. At the end, though, all is revealed. The narrator can perfectly understand the teacher. The theme of both these texts is similar and different. In Bonne Année , one quote is this: Perhaps the natal pull is stronger than it seems. (Benoît 36). One theme of this story is that homeland is very important. In Me Talk Pretty One Day , though, there is a different theme. • 43. Rhetorical Analysis Of President Reagan s Address Rhetorical Analysis of President Reagan s Address to the Nation about the Explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger Perhaps no greater tragedy defines the American Race for Space than the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger before millions of Americans as they watched on live TV in 1986. Building on two decades of successful space exploration kicked off by President Kennedy before his death, by the early eighties the American culture both believed that it was our right to fly into space and that no one did it better than we did. NASA had sent mission after mission into space over more than twenty years, each one accomplishing space exploration goals and building the reputation that America owned the stars. That day in January of 1986 was supposed to be another of those successes as the Challenger lifted off from Cape Canaveral carrying not only professional astronauts into space but also one everyday person, teacher Christa McAuliffe. Instead, the world watched as after seventy three seconds after liftoff hopes and dreams exploded with the Challenger leaving astronauts dead, the space program in jeopardy and America grieving and looking for answers. How leadership responded, what they said and did, would be really important to how the nation dealt with the loss and to the future of the space program. The man for the job was President Ronald Reagan, whose address to the nation appealed to the public on an emotional and logical level and helped to ensure that they ... The main statement of the European social policy is the Social Charter (approved by 11 of the then 12 member states) which seeks to improve working and living conditions and ensure the effective use of human resource across the EU. There are cases where the recognized majority trade union defy the law and do not comply with the regulations of the IRA. This protest would clearly go against section 69 (1) where public servants are not allowed to take industrial action. In relation to participation in the EU, various countries have different approaches to encouraging employee participation. • 47. Historical Elements Of Verdi Prati The piece from my final recital programme that I chose to evaluate in this essay is Verdi Prati from Handel s opera Alcina. Alcina was inspired by a story from an epic poem called Orlando Furioso , however, Handel s libretto is a very free adaption. This particular aria is of great importance in the opera as we see the character Ruggerio predicting what is to come for Alcina and her magical island. The historical elements of this opera are extremely important in understanding the true meaning of the song Verdi Prati. In 1734, the period which was known as the Royal Academy of Music in British opera came to an end as Handel lost the tenancy on the King s Theatre in London. Handel s opponents took over the theatre, and the majority of his most important artists along with it. When he was offered the use of a new theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her marvellous arias shock and captivate the listener in a similar way in which she dominates her lovers. This takes a basic story in new directions. She shares the stage mainly with Ruggiero, who under Alcina s spell, is her mortal husband and passionate lover and who is a leading castrato. Ruggiero predicts her coming defeat and ultimate vengeance in his nostalgic aria Verdi Prati. His role is full of delicate and elegant touches. The Confederation Congress was a shadow, while the true power rested with the individual states. Instead of the federal government being able to do their job, the states ran the country. But Martin Bell has challenged the fundamentals of journalism that is to be balanced and impartial with what he calls Journalism of Attachment . This is not to back one side, or faction or people against another, it is to make a point that we in the press, and especially the television which is its most powerful division, do not stand apart from the world (Bell 1997, p. 8). To be objective as Phillip Hammond cited by David Loyn (2007, p. 5) comprises three distinct, refined but interrelated concepts of truthfulness and acuracy, neutrality, and emotional detachment , or in Martin Bell s term to be dispassionate, and it is exactly this reason, that Bell have chose not to continue the traditional thoughts of journalism, for he is human first, journalist second. Bell s view was not fully appreciated and acknowledged, as there are various critics from scholars and journalists alike. One of which is Wilhelm Kempf, he critiqued that Journalism of Attachment gives the journalism too much authority, somewhat making them a judge to decide what is right or wrong.
