Examples Of Objective Anxiety
Objective and Neurotic Anxiety:
There are two kinds of anxieties, the objective anxiety and the neurotic anxiety. Objective anxiety
occurs when there is a real, external threat and danger and neurotic anxiety arrives from within the
self, due to unconscious feelings and memories. In order for the individual to cope with the neurotic
anxiety he develops various defence mechanisms. One of them is the mechanism of projection which
is when his unwanted feelings and impulses that are responsible for the anxiety, are projected to
someone else. This has as a result, the individual to alleviate his anxiety but by acting in this way the
real threat is still within himself and it still influence him by distorting his reality. This distortion of
the reality is the effect of his projection as now he is perceiving others as not what they really are but
as what he had projected onto them. Others can introject, absorb and identify with these projections
and start to act and behave like they belong to them. This is what Melanie Klein named Projective
identification.

Gender roles were planted in political, not religious and ideology, which was after the American

The Earthquake In Chile
Currently, Chile is experiencing very intense wild fires, and some cities are still trying to rebuild their
lives after the earthquake in December. Amidst these natural disasters, Chile is also getting ready for
its 2017 precedent election in November. Currently, most news reports claim that the left wing party in
Chile is being favored, but Chile is also experiencing a decrease in the citizens participation in voting.
There are many theories about why this may be happening, and the most popular seems to be that the
Chilean people are losing trust for their government. Because I will be in Chile during the semester
that the election will take place, I feel like this will be most significant challenge between protests and
speeches. There

Jesus Crucifixion
Anthony Liccione once said, Unto the Cross came death, and unto death came the Cross. This quote
relates to the poem, The Dream of The Rood because it talks about the story of how Jesus crucifixion.
In the poem states, It seemed to me that I saw a more wonderful tree lifted in the air, wound round
with light, the brightest of beams. This symbolizes that he has stumbled across the Tree of Life
mentioned in the Bible. Adam and Eve ate an apple off this tree even though God had forbidden it.
The tree the poem was glorious on one side with gems and beauty; however, the other side showed a
different face of Christ . The side of judgement and how mankind treated him and crucified him for
living a religion filled life. The poem mentions that the tree was cut down from the edge of the wood,
ripped up by my roots. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

end the pain, he endured it insure that the people who followed him even in this moment would be

Introduction. I Propose A New Approach To Designing...
Introduction I propose a new approach to designing healthcare; a full swing towards primary
prevention and promoting respective and open minded discussion between patients and physicians.
Before the proposal of this new system, Alberta was plagued with an unsustainable system with no
hope of improvement; unbelievable burdens existed in emergency rooms and hospitals, and Alberta s
health outcomes were not up to par with the amount funding that was being given. Although higher
taxation may be the answer to this issue, I take the different approach of attempting to design the
system to work more efficiently, and place health back into the hands of citizens through
empowerment and respective relationships with healthcare professionals. ... Show more content on

This method ideally will shift symptom treatment and permit evidence based diagnosis with the
involvement of lifestyle factors. The last feature of telemedicine would be encouraging the use of
health helplines. Helplines are knowledgeable resources which aide patients to determine their course
of action when faced with a health condition. Moreover, helplines are key to cutting down emergency
wait times as helplines can offer alternative advice and recommend the use of other health resources.
Patient centred care is a concept which would alleviate the burden of emergency room trips and
promote health lifestyles among citizens. I believe patient centred care would increase visits to
physicians and allow primary prevention to be more efficient. Moreover, patient centered care would
allow a rapport to be built in a respective, open minded environment and physicians would be better
equipped to understand how a patient s lifestyle guides their choices and determines their risk for
contracting diseases. Managing chronic disease, for example obesity/diabetes, heavily relies on
guidance and lifestyle changes. In addition, patient centred care would be aided by telemedicine to
increase communication and available health resources. Likewise, along with telemedicine would
come a universal database for medical history which would be accessible to all physicians to
encourage a more comprehensive look at health and

Personal Reflection Of Journalism As An Elective Class
When I first selected Journalism as my Elective class I would be challenged in ways I had never
experienced in the conventional classroom before. After a full year of the class, I found that while this
was demonstrated to be true, the real challenge came from learning how to channel my self motivation
and intrinsic passion as opposed to external pressures like harsh due dates and grading. I have never
before in my life been given the opportunity to write about my passions and interests for a grade, nor
have I had the chance to write on behalf of a respected school institution. My motivations in
journalism were essentially flipped from those of the conventional classroom, where my grades are
motivated by the institutional pressures of the school, and my actual learning of the subject is
motivated by my personal interest in the class. Instead in journalism, my grades are dependent on my
personal interests, and my actual learning of the subject is dependent on the institutional pressures of
working for such an esteemed organization. This has provided me with a much more realistic
educational experience, relative to the professional world, as I am motivated internally to produce
content at the job of my choice and externally to conform to the expectations of my employer. I chose
to take journalism to see if I could accountably manage my work without many of the guidelines and
structure presented in most classes, and I feel that, 12+ quality articles later, I have

Examples Of Irony In The Kite Runner
Phillip Nasrallah Ms. Fishman English 12 H 15 April 2015 The Master of Irony Khlaed Hosseini uses
expresses the beauty of irony throughout his famous novel, The Kite Runner. There are many
instances throughout the novel in which events seem to be leaning one way and then suddenly change,
unfortunately for the worse. These examples include experiences with Baba, Amir and Hassan.
Hosseini s use of irony really hooks the reader, leaving an unpredictable series of events for Amir and
Hassan. The first example of irony that is found in the Kite Runner was the day that Hassan got raped.
Hosseini wrote how it was a beautiful day (Hosseini 65) and these words came out of Hassan s own
mouth. Hassan would never have guessed what was going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Baba would always tell Amir how lying was a sin yet Amir eventually finds out that Baba had lied to
him about Hassan being his brother. Baba said, There is only one sin. And that is theft... When you tell
a lie, you steal someone s right to the truth. (pg.237) By him lying, he completely went against what
he said was right. Baba had not only lied to Amir, but to Hassan and others as well. Baba had been
doing something he knew was wrong, but he had still chosen to go against his own beliefs and do it
anyway. The theme addressed here is simply betrayal. Baba is consistently hypocritical throughout the
novel. For example, Baba is immensely ashamed of 11 year old Amir for crying when he saw a man
murdered in the street, but later in the novel when Ali and Hassan leave for good, Baba is full of tears.
This reveals the bias and corrupt personality Baba possesses. Baba is not a great father and only shows
his affection for Amir when great successes occur such as the kite competition victory. Baba betrays
many characters in the novel, however he does most of an injustice to Amir, his son. Baba never
informing him of his sibling relationship with Hassan appears as stupidity and selfishness. Baba does
not wish to provide joy for his sons at the cost of revealing that he had slept with Ali s wife and
produced Hassan. Baba is really just a coward. The lying demonstrated by Baba contributes to the
main idea of forgiveness. Baba does a poor job as a father for the most part of his life and on his
deathbed he receives the forgiveness from Amir for all of the pain he has caused Amir throughout his

Book 15 Of The Iliad Essay
In the novel The Iliad, written by Homer, a variety of themes can be interpreted from the text. Book 15
of The Iliad contains a scene that involves Achilles risking his best friends life simply because he
incapable of letting go. Earlier, in book 6, Prince Paris experiences a moment of courage and
challenges King Menelaus over the hand of a woman named Helen. Again, Paris is caught in a violent
scene fighting to protect his self pride. In a period of cowardice Paris brother Hector discovers him
hiding from battle, and attacks his ego, forcing him to fight once again. Some may say The Iliad is
about honor, importance of war, or revenge, but one message that stands above the rest is the hunger
for superiority.
During book 16 of The Iliad the Achaeans are pushed dangerously close to the coast by the Trojan
army. It was at this time that Patroclus seeks the aid of his dear friend Achilles. Patroclus explains to
Achilles the carnage that surrounds him and begs his comrade to rejoin the fight. Achilles, still sore
over his disagreement with Agamemnon, refuses to fight. As a compromise Achilles offers his armor
to Patroclus ensuring his safety: Up now, Zeus born Patroclus, master of horsemen. Lo, I see by the
ships the rush of consuming fire. Let it not be that they take the ships and there be no more escaping!
Do on my armour with all haste, and I will gather the host (Book 16). This decision brings Patroclus to
his eminent doom on the battlefield. It s clear to see that

Osama Bin Laden Beliefs
Growing up on the Red Sea littoral, American ideas and culture were never far away from me.
However when I moved to the U.S. in the eighth grade I was shocked that my peers laughed and
antagonized my religious culture. Therefore, if I had converse with one person it would be the
orchestrator of the terrible September 11th terrorist attacks.
Osama Bin Laden is the reason for the misconstrued view of Islam that is currently seen in the world.
In my opinion the origin of Bin Laden is similar to a prominent religious figure in that of the Buddha.
Both came from affluent lives, but abandoned it all for their beliefs. However Bin Laden spread the
doctrine of negativity, and even worse a false ideal. An ideal that has sadly influenced many other
radicals such as Boko Haram, Isis, Taliban, and more.
Islam is a very peaceful religion, and it s where I ve learned to become the most humane version of

Differences Between The Colonies Of New England And The...
The differences between the colonies of New England and the southern region were stark. First, the
settlers who immigrated to the new world had different reasons for doing so. South Carolina was
established as a buffer zone between other English colonies and the Spanish colonies in Florida.
Georgia was founded for an even more interesting reason. In England, there were many social
problems including lewdness, drunkenness, and various sexual sins. Also, those in the upper class who
found themselves unable to pay back their loans were sent to debtor s prisons. Georgia was intended
to be a place for those people to get a new start, however, most of the colonists who ended up there
were poor farmers. On the other hand, the colonies of New England were set up primarily for religious
reasons. Although there were some that sought profit in New England, most settlers sought liberty and
freedom of worship. English separatists, who vehemently disagreed with the way the Church of
England was set up, left Holland and came to America on the Mayflower. They landed in modern
Massachusetts and established the Plymouth Colony. Rhode Island was also founded on a religious
basis after Roger Williams and his fellow dissenters were exiled from Massachusetts. It became a
haven for Quakers, Jews, Baptists and members of other minority religions.
A second difference in the colonies of the southern region and of New England comes in the basis of
their economies. South Carolina was focusing on

with trust, making it extremely important to establish a good collaborative relationship with the client
(Wedding Corsini, 2014, p. 35). Together we prioritized what needed to be done into manageable
pieces so that Shawna could feel successful and empowered to continue moving forward. We also
started with easy tangible pieces of intervention to eliminate barriers so the crisis felt more
manageable, and her anxiety decreased with each goal that was accomplished. I asked permission
before proceeding with any step of intervention. It was an important aspect of building trust to
empower Shawna to lead, while I provided support.
Crisis Intervention Plan
Predispositioning began with a phone call to Shawna s hospital room. It was imperative to connect

the process so she would be comfortable during the initial intake. I shared with her who I was, where
the referral came from, and what services I would be able to provide. I asked permission to visit her at
the hospital to enroll her in the program. Shawna agreed to let me visit and I let her know that I
understood she felt like time was running out, and to reduce her anxiety I would like to visit as soon as
possible.

Rylands V Fletcher
Question 6, April 2006: Solution to fe1 question
Bell Computers could attach liability to either Chemical Supply or Industrial Estates under the tort of
Rylands v Fletcher.
Chemical Supply s Liability
Rylands v Fletcher established that a person who for his own purposes brings on his lands and collects
and keeps there anything likely to do mischief if it escapes, must keep it in at his peril, and if he does
not do so , is prima facie answerable for all the damage which is the natural consequence of its escape.
The rule therefore imposes strict liability on the defendant for all damage which occurs as a natural
consequence of the escape, and there is no requirement for intent or neglect. The rule only applies to
defendants who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Industrial Estate s Liability
The rule in Rylands applies to owners of premises as well as occupiers, but Bell would have difficulty
overcoming the proofs outlined in respect of Industrial, namely accumulation for Industrial s benefit
etc. and the absence of any control by Industrial over the harmful substances.
Liability would be more successfully attached to Industrial in negligence for its failure to keep the
road in a good state of repair. Firstly, Bell will need to establish that it owed a duty of care to it. As
Lord Atkin stated in O Donoghue v Stevenson you must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omission
which you can reasonably foresee would be liable to injure your neighbour. While neighbour in this
sense does not strictly mean persons who occupy the property beside you, it was established in
Glencar Explorations v Mayo Co.Co. that if a plaintiff and defendant s relationship is sufficiently
proximate, and the harm caused was foreseeable, then in the absence of policy limitations, a duty of
care would arise. Bell should be able to establish a duty of care in that by failing to maintain the road
in a good condition, it was reasonably foreseeable that such failure could cause injury to Bell s
property, as Industrial knew that tanks full of harmful substances travelled on the road on a daily basis,
and that if such chemicals were to escape due to an accident caused by the defective road, they would

that life began in a body of water, resulting into the combination of chemicals from the atmosphere
and a form of energy to create amino acids which evolved into all of the species. Chemist Stanley

In this hypothesis a scientist by the name of Dan Luo believes that clay hydrogels provide a way for
chemicals to come together and form complex biomolecules. Hydrogel is made up of groups of
polymer chains that suck up large amounts of water. The trapped chemicals react and form
biochemicals like proteins and DNA. We propose that in early geological history clay hydrogel
provided a confinement function for biomolecules and biochemical reactions, said Luo.

Edgar Degas Blue Dancers Analysis

of his most notalbe portrayals was that of ballet dancers. Through his many portraits of ballet dancers
Degas was able to convey one the most important attributes of a ballerina, the ballerina ligne. Dancer

and has been unconscious for a long while. The boys are scared of him for reasons unknown, and
Simon is the only one that can go near him. A little un said I m scared of him, He s crazy. We ve got to
do something, Ralph responded, Maybe we should tie him down. Jack spoke now, that or get rid of
him. Another child spoke, Come on. He s hurt bad and he has a fever. We ve got to take care of him.
Why bother? Said Roger; He isn t going to make it. We ve got to take care of ourselves. This was
followed by a murmur of agreement. This scene is particularly important because the boys are
presented with a defenseless person, who they are scared of, and thinking of restraining him or killing
him. Even Ralph, who is supposed to be the fair leader, wants to restrain him, and Jack and Roger
want to kill him, to which Ralph offers no opposition. This reveals evil because they are thinking
about murder for the unsubstantial reason that they have negative feelings for him, and that the pilot is
subconsciously reluctant to have the boys near him. The pilot doesn t want other boys near him
because he somehow

The Historical, Political And Political Role Of The...
The original intent of the Eurovision Song Contest, through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU),
was to unite countries after the Second World War, through music. As one of the first and now longest
running mass media light entertainment programmes to broadcast globally , to what extent has it
successfully met its aims? Consider this question by using one appropriate case study from the show
and situating it within a historical and political context.
The historical, political and social role of the Eurovision Song Contest
Essay question /argument
In this essay, I shall examine the historical, political and social position of the Eurovision Song
Contest. It is a well known fact that the song contest is one of the most famous television show
contests in Europe and internationally. What impact did Eurovision have on the post World War II
days?
Throughout the essay, I will aim to discuss the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest and its
effects as well as the milestones of the show in the light of their impact. The first show I will introduce
is the year 1974 when ABBA won the contest and the Portuguese song became the anthem of the
revolution against their government (Morais, 2007). The second show I will analyze is the year 1998
when the Israeli Dana International became the first transgender winner of the ESC with her
unforgettable song DIVA . She has become a gay icon and, both religiously and politically, has
become one of the great figures of the

Virtue is not Different for a Man and a Woman as Plato...
When I read Meno and how Plato talks about virtue being different for different people. I agree with
his statement to a certain degree, according to Oxford Dictionaries virtue means a quality considered
morally good or desirable in a person. I can see why Plato would say that virtue is different based on a
person s quality to be taught. But for him to say that it is different for a man and a woman I do not
agree with this statement. Plato is making virtue being different due to gender. But either person, male
or a female have a biological state or disposition obtaining virtue. I think that virtue is different for
some people due to learned behavior in their upbringing. A person can acquire virtue by the values and
morals being taught or a sense of behavior, and habits are being formed whether they are good, bad,
right or wrong as children. Many of us have formulated our views based on what we have heard, seen,
or were taught to believe. I feel that Social class and culture has a great deal to do with some of the
displaced morals and values such as ethical subjectivism according to Jean Jacques Rousseau what a
person feels is right is right, and what a person feel is wrong is wrong (rousseau p.223). In the article
on Ethical Subjectivism written by Jean Jacques Rousseau stating that each person determines what is
morally right. She gives an example of Emily and Jorge; Jorge steals Emily s lap top and he feel as
though it is okay due to the fact that his lap top

Tarumi Painting Analysis
What is Stephen s relationship with painting, and how does it shape his experience in Tarumi?
In Autumn of the novel, Stephen was thinking about King s last letter and how he understood that
recovering would allow him to relax and continue his passion for painting. He ended his letter hoping
I would use my rest and recuperation to perfect my art. King was one of the few friends I had who
always understood how much painting means to me (14). Stephen has a strong desire to paint and it
evolves throughout the story and allows him to express himself. Art shapes his experiences by
allowing to always have a hobby that can calm him down and communicate with others in different
ways.

An example would be Stephen s relationship with Keiko and how it ended abruptly because of the
demise of Keiko s brother at Hsuchowfu. Don t you see, nothing could ever come of our friendship
now. She looked behind her, checking again to see if anyone were watching us. My brother was killed
at Hsuchowfu (188). The war as well as the events that are taking place at the time of the novel
interfere with the lives of the characters and complicate their relationships.
What is the significance of the title, The Samurai s Garden?
The title signifies two of the key characters in the book, Matsu and Sachi. They are both strong in their
own ways. Wisdom and inner strength are attributes of true Samurai, and Matsu and Sachi have both
learned these virtues from experiences in their lives. Matsu once told me the bridge represented the
samurai s difficult path from this world to the afterlife. When you reach the top of the bridge, you can
see your way to paradise (43). Both characters have encountered hardships in their paths similar to the
difficulties of the samurai.

My family and friends enjoy the fresh ingredients along with the Portion size of the foods, desserts
even down to the appetizer that alone is well worth the cost.
The Cheesecake Factories I been to are located in or adjacent to upscale malls, with casual dining

This would definitely not be a good place to bring a date for the first time, if you are trying to get to

The Cheesecake Factory can utilize its strengths to be more competitive by possibly introducing more
kid friendly dishes.
They could offer smaller portions all day versus just at lunch to appeal to those who don t want the
larger portions at night.
They can minimize their weakness by possibly taking reservations and by extending hours of
operation, and maybe even adding a smaller sister restaurant in the same area no more than 15 20
minutes apart.
Adding a smaller sister restaurant in the same area would help move the over flow from the
neighboring areas to that restaurant alleviating the customer overflow.
I have been to at least 7 different cities and locations and even thought the noise level gets to be a bit
much and the wait time can be up to 1 2 hours.
The quality of the food is consistent and the price is reasonable therefore my family and friends will

Factors That Affect An Organisation s Approach To Talent...

which are representing more than one national origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability,
religion, beliefs, and age which create a diverse workforce environment were some feels valued at all
costs and was skill sets are being used to develop goals within the organisation. The benefits attracting
and retaining a diverse workforce are as follows: Better Productivity Employing employees from a
more diverse culture, a background can bring more talent and new ideas within processes to increase
the organisation to an advantage to make it more productive which could be also an advantage.
Language Skill An organisation may have plans to extend their contact and plan to employ globally,
the organisation would gain a good quality and diversity within the workforces. For example: if they
employed a fluent Chinese individual, they would understand the Chinese culture and they would
experience an easier time communicating with representatives in China. This would increase sale
profit within the organisation. Positive Reputation Individual that is looking for work look at
organisations with a positive reputation and also an organisation that doesn t practice employment
discrimination. You would find that people would like to work in an organisation that treats their staff

Bacterial Transformation ( Escherichia Coli )
Bacterial Transformation (Escherichia coli)

Dr. F. Redway
BIO 104 Lab 3
November 11, 2014
Introduction According to Medicine.net (2012), genetic transformation is a process by which the
genetic material carried by an individual cell is altered by the incorporation of foreign/exogenous
DNA into its genome. Competent cells are able to accept DNA presented by experimental influence or
manipulation, and the application of genetic engineering with bacteria can aid in the fight against
diseases, allowing individuals to maintain their lifestyles without the threat of certain illnesses like
heart disease, cancer or hereditary disorders (McPhersson 2008). Plasmid DNA are small circular
double stranded helixes, and present in the plasmid are ampr (selectable marker gene) and GFP (Green
Florescent Protein), (BIO RAD 2010).
Figure 1: Illustrates the bacterial plasmid of E. Coli showing the select marker gene and the color
marker gene present.
The bacteria that was used in the experiment was Escherichia coli, it is one of the most commonly
used organisms for gene transfer, and most E. coli are non pathogenic. A non pathogenic strain was
used to conduct the experiment. The conditions was kept at 37 ◦C, which is the temperature of the
human intestines (BIO RAD 2010). Arabinose is a sugar that the bacteria needs for energy, used as a
food source and enables GFP, which in turn is regulated by araC (Redway 2013). Hypothesis: +pGLO

DNA testing Essay
DNA testing has overthrown the way police collect evidence in a number of criminal cases, especially
rape and murder and consequently had a large impact on many past cases. However there are many
disadvantages to DNA testing, such as a challenge of accuracy, the costs of DNA testing and the
possible misuse of DNA. The prospect of a national DNA database in Australia has been heavily
criticised with complaints of invasion of privacy and stigma against those with terminal diseases.
Deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA as it is most commonly known, is a strand of molecules found within
the cell nucleus of all living things. It is called a genetic fingerprint because each is different to the
other and everyone, apart from identical twins, have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another downside to the use of DNA is the misuse of results. Victims with AIDS feel that they might
be stigmatised if their DNA is stored in a national database and it could be used against them.
The prospect of a genetic database in Australia has been raised recently. The federal police are pushing
for a national database to help solve crime and are asking for legislation to be allowed to collect DNA
samples from people accused, or suspected of committing an offence (the Australian, 06.12.1997 see
appendix one)
The proposal has sparked a moral dilemma. Victoria has had a DNA database since 1992 with the
reasoning that, if a suspect is cleared, their DNA must be erased off the list. However, recently
Victorian government has allowed police to collect samples from more suspected criminals, not just
those accused of murder, serious assault or rape. Now they are allowed to collect from those accused
of drug trafficking, arson causing death and aggravated burglary.
Privacy is also another big issue surrounding the plans for a database. Chairman of the New South
Wales privacy council says that the prospect of a genetic database is a cavalier disregard for people s
privacy
Recently it was passed that all states, apart from Western Australia have the right to compose a DNA
database (The Sydney Telegraph, 22.04.2001 see appendix two) and already there had been a few
flaws found. With

Social Organized Crime Perspective Paper
Social Organized Crime Perspective Paper Many could argue that organized crime takes place in our
society because of the circumstances in which our society has chosen to exist. It could have been
started because of rules, regulations, and laws that we have placed upon ourselves that not every
person agrees with. It could be a problem because several of the people within our society choose to
live differently because they feel they can. Whatever the logic behind the choice organized crime does
exist in our society and has for quite some time. In this paper will take a look at the perspective of
social organized crime. We will discuss and explain the term social institution and how it applies to
organized crime. We will discuss empirical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory attempts to give insight as to how a person can choose to live a life of crime and or choose
to become affiliated with an organized crime group and live a life of crime as a profession and a
career. In conclusion we are a society that has formed and developed into a social institution. We have
rules that are both written and unwritten. Those rules may not be for everyone and those who refuse to
agree to live by them often choose to live a life of crime. Once they learn a life of crime they may
choose to make a career out of their efforts and become more intelligent as criminals. When this
happens they learn to behave more and more like criminals until their life becomes that surrounded by
and involved with organized crime. We as a society refute this and by refuting it we encourage it.

War and Deception
The responsibilities of a presidential administration to the United States should be easily defined, but
in many instances have come to be uncertain. There are two wars over the last century that have
compromised the American reputation, as well as the integrity of our people. On these two occasions
the intentions of our president have been something different than publicized to the country. The
United States as a whole was deceived by two particular leaders and their administration. Through
propaganda, selective speech, and exaggerated evidence, Presidents Lyndon Johnson and George W.
Bush manipulated the support of the nation for their bold military actions and personal agendas. In
August of 1964 there was an alleged attack by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of the Vietnam War was to stop communist expansion and to protect South Vietnam from
attacks by North Vietnam and rebels within South Vietnam who hoped to unite the two countries
under communism (Nelson, 488). This war was one of the most excruciating experiences in American
history. It left us wounded and deflated as a superpower. Americans view of their country after a loss
and embarrassment like this one was now ruined. No one president is entirely responsible for the
development of this war, but Johnson was the first to send combat troops to Vietnam. Years later, after
learning the deception of the Johnson administration, blame may be placed more upon Johnson and
his manipulation of Congress and the public by publicizing a threat to our security that never existed.
The administration took advantage of Congress and exaggerated or simply created an attack on the
U.S. as an excuse to use military action on North Vietnam. Daniel Ellsburg, a government insider and
a State Department civilian during the Vietnam War, stole, copied and published the Pentagon Papers.
The Pentagon Papers were a top secret study of the U.S. decision making in Vietnam. Ellsburg worked
closely with the presidential administration during the war and was sent to Vietnam for two years to
observe the war and evaluate the pacification of the countryside (Ellsburg, VIII). Immediately after
returning from Vietnam he began to do everything in his power

I Chose The Top Left Picture Of The Vanity Fair
In this 21st century where representation and visibility of all groups is valued, it is not surprising to
see photos or videos in the media promoting or even advertising unique lifestyle that just a few
decades ago would unearthed a feeling of disgust or repulsion. While on one hand some uses media in
a positive way, introducing us to new fresher ideas which would ve been unthinkable before. Suchlike
families aside from the traditional nuclear family (e.g. single parent household, lesbian and gay
couples, or eccentric families in general), people of colour taking bolder or positions of leadership, or
even simple individuals breaking the barrier of norms. On the other hand, there are those who simply
see the media as a lucrative business aimed to spread consumer commodification and vain lifestyle. As
I want to focus on the latter, I chose the top left picture of the Vanity Fair (VF) March 2014 issue. This
month s issue s cover is Jen Selter, fitness model and supposedly an inspiration for many young girls
to go to the gym. I can be put in the basket of haters but frankly, I ve never heard of her and seeing
just the magazine with her on the cover, in that position wearing that dress doesn t appeal to me. She s
wearing a black dress that covers parts that should be, but is showing enough skin to entice curiosity
paired with black stilettos. Taking a four legged animal stance on bland looking table with a hazy,
rugged wall to complete the scene . Honestly speaking, at

India s Issue Of Kashmir
India thinks that Kashmir is not the issue for an international concern and India does not consider UN
s take on any political action over Kashmir. India s apprehension of Kashmir is reasonable somehow
because India has fought three times with Pakistan regarding Kashmir s issue. On the contrary,
resolution does not come through military action. According to India, if India is ready to establish
Kashmir as a democratic province with all the privileges of an autonomous, there is no guarantee to
Kashmir will be under the Indian union. Because there are lots of terrorist groups are fighting against
India. Pakistan is supporting them by providing materials as well as financial backing (Schofield, V.
2000).
The war between Pakistan and India in 1965 and 1999 see also (Bose, S. 2009) has shown that India
and Pakistan are increasing their military power and facing the challenges. On the other hand, China is
behind the Pakistan. So India is worrying if USA and China extend their support to Pakistan and
Pakistan prepares to attack Kashmir. Indian central politics are also responsible for improving
Kashmir case. Sonia Gandhi (leader of Indian Congress) is a liberal and her party wants a dialogue
with Kashmir and Pakistan both. But recent Prime Minister Narendra Modi (BJP) doesn t want to
negotiate with this case.
Pakistani Argument
After 1947, Pakistan felt that Pakistan is deprived because Kashmir has a majority of Muslim people
and they have a right to choose their future

Reasons for Project Failure
Reasons for Project Failure There are many causes of project failure and every failed project will have
its own set of issues. Sometimes it is a single trigger event that leads to failure, but more often than
not, it is a complex entwined set of problems that combine and cumulatively result in failure. In case
of Avon, though implementation of SMT model was a the next logic step which would give a
tremendous boost to its direct marketing structure, there were some pretty drastic errors made which
led to catastrophic failure of the project. The prime causes of failure in case of Avon were: Lack of
coordination between the model development group and the end users who will actually be using the
model to place orders. The model had an excellent back end system to integrate with warehouse.
During the testing it responded correctly showing correct inventory numbers. However, the user
interface was not paid much attention to. It selected and implemented a third party e commerce
solution for that purpose. Also, the UI was extremely non user friendly. It took a long time to place an
order and at times even gave faulty inventory numbers. It s more evidence of an emerging trend that
corporate workers are increasingly demanding the business apps they use be as intuitive and user
friendly as the consumer apps they rely upon in their personal life. This trend, which ties into the
consumerization of IT, challenges traditional enterprise software giants such as SAP, Oracle and

The Husband Loathes His Wife s Birthmark
I found the husband interesting because of the way he completely loathes his wife s birthmark. His
hatred seems to be a symbol of people who are not content in their wonderful situation. The husband
says that the wife s face would be flawless and beautiful if it were without the crimson birthmark. He
loathes this birthmark so much that he says it reminds him of sin and earthliness, opposed to
perfection and heavenliness. I find interest in the husband s character because of his hate towards a
little thing that can be covered with two fingers. This obsession makes me think that the husband
character is a representation of people who complain about a small imperfection, inconvenience, or
issue in their life. Near the beginning of the story,

Hiram Ulyssess Grant Research Paper
Hiram Ulysses Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio on April 27,1822 to Jesse Root Grant and
Hannah Simpson Grant (Williams). His first name was decided upon by his maternal grandmother
while his middle name was an alternate form of his father s favorite literary character, whose name
was Odysseus (Schlesinger Jr.). His parents had three daughters and two sons after Ulysses. During
his childhood, he was shy but had a large passion for horses (Grant, 8). He worked on his family s
farm and attended local schools where he was not a very good student. In 1839, his father decided to
send him to West Point, an idea that Grant was not to fond of (Lincoln, 422).

a general in the major army, and was placed in control of the Military Division of the Mississippi

The next month, he was promoted to lieutenant general and commander of the Union armies following
his defeat of General Braxton Briggs. Following his promotion, he pitted all the Union s resources
against the Confederacy. Predictably, the Union won the Civil War on May 9, 1865 (Lincoln, 423).
After the war, Grant served as interim Secretary of War for several months in 1867 through 1868.
During this time, he became permanently estranged from then President Andrew Johnson. The
estrangement was caused over conflict about the Tenure of Office Act between President Johnson and
Congress (Lincoln, 423).
Grant s political supporters were mostly Republicans, especially the Radical Republicans. In 1868,
Ulysses S. Grant was nominated as president and ran again Horatio Seymour, who was a democrat.
The popular vote was close, but Grant managed to win it and took 214 electoral votes out of the 294

With over fifty novels published, more than twenty short stories, a couple of textbooks, many political

G. Wells consist of symbolism, a journalistic narrator, and open ended endings. Use of symbolism was
seen in the concept of fire in The Time Machine. Fire was an abundant quantity in this book. When the
Time Traveler first started a fire, it became out of control quickly and an entire forest burned down.
The Time Traveler routinely used matches for both good and evil. Fire symbolized the technology
incorporated into the time machine: it could be good, but also misused; and it had unintended
consequences (The Time Machine Analysis). The War of The Worlds compared people to animals;
people have as much power after the Martians arrived as animals have now (The War of the Worlds
Analysis). Darkness was used as a symbol in The Invisible Man, as it represented uncertainty (The
Invisible Man Analysis). Another device used by Wells was the narrator s methods of storytelling. The
narrators in these books were in the first person, and very journalistic with omniscient tendencies
(Shmoop Editorial Team Analyses). Finally, the endings of these books contained open ended aspects.
In The Time Machine, the Time Traveler simply disappeared. Absolutely no indication of what
happened to him was given (The Time Machine). The ending to The War of the Worlds was both
optimistic and pessimistic. Sure, the Martians died, but now, so could Earth. Anything could have
happened from here, as the future was uncertain (The War of the Worlds). At the end of The Invisible

Dairy Calves
Scours in newborn calves that causes diarrhea is an infection cause by several types of bacteria, and
viruses that is easily spread through fecal matter, or may be in the environment. Due to weak immune
system of newborns they re more likely to catch a disease because they have not built up an immunity
to their environment yet. For newborns this disease can be fatal if severe enough, and left untreated;
however, there are preventive measures. Ways of preventing scours in dairy calves include: separate
enclosures, commercial colostrum, and cleaning/environmental strategies. The main prevention
against scours in calves are individual calf pens in a calf room in a separate part of the barn. Calves

We can, however, control the environment in which the calf is born and raised early in life. The
newborn calf needs a dry, clean place if we expect it to survive free of scours (Stoltenow, Charles, and
Vincent, Lani). The less pathogens the calves are exposed to in the beginning of their life the less
chance of them catching a disease. Therefore, having gradual exposure allows the calf s body to adapt
to its environment without shocking its system and causing it to be overloaded. This way cows can
become incorporated into the main herd of milking cows at an appropriate age for being bred to start
the milk cycle. Scours in dairy calves is preventable some methods include: Separate calf pens,
commercially bagged colostrum, and cleaning/environmental methods. Using these methods of
building a calf s immunity through a controlled environment with gradual exposure to the
environment around them. Therefore, preventing disease, allowing the calves to be safely raised to

costly then treatment of scours in their dairy calf

  • 2. Examples Of Objective Anxiety Objective and Neurotic Anxiety: There are two kinds of anxieties, the objective anxiety and the neurotic anxiety. Objective anxiety occurs when there is a real, external threat and danger and neurotic anxiety arrives from within the self, due to unconscious feelings and memories. In order for the individual to cope with the neurotic anxiety he develops various defence mechanisms. One of them is the mechanism of projection which is when his unwanted feelings and impulses that are responsible for the anxiety, are projected to someone else. This has as a result, the individual to alleviate his anxiety but by acting in this way the real threat is still within himself and it still influence him by distorting his reality. This distortion of the reality is the effect of his projection as now he is perceiving others as not what they really are but as what he had projected onto them. Others can introject, absorb and identify with these projections and start to act and behave like they belong to them. This is what Melanie Klein named Projective identification. What has also been affected is race and social class between females and males who attend schools. Ideas of what women and men are suppose to be and do have cut across different classifications. Ending unfairness in schools has rested on change to gender roles mainly women. Gender roles were planted in political, not religious and ideology, which was after the American Revolution. Men sustained to have public responsibilities in this emerging country. Men were presumed to be good neighbors, educated voters, and in charge businessmen. • 4. The Earthquake In Chile Currently, Chile is experiencing very intense wild fires, and some cities are still trying to rebuild their lives after the earthquake in December. Amidst these natural disasters, Chile is also getting ready for its 2017 precedent election in November. Currently, most news reports claim that the left wing party in Chile is being favored, but Chile is also experiencing a decrease in the citizens participation in voting. There are many theories about why this may be happening, and the most popular seems to be that the Chilean people are losing trust for their government. Because I will be in Chile during the semester that the election will take place, I feel like this will be most significant challenge between protests and speeches. There ... • 5. Jesus Crucifixion Anthony Liccione once said, Unto the Cross came death, and unto death came the Cross. This quote relates to the poem, The Dream of The Rood because it talks about the story of how Jesus crucifixion. In the poem states, It seemed to me that I saw a more wonderful tree lifted in the air, wound round with light, the brightest of beams. This symbolizes that he has stumbled across the Tree of Life mentioned in the Bible. Adam and Eve ate an apple off this tree even though God had forbidden it. The tree the poem was glorious on one side with gems and beauty; however, the other side showed a different face of Christ . The side of judgement and how mankind treated him and crucified him for living a religion filled life. • 6. Introduction. I Propose A New Approach To Designing... Introduction I propose a new approach to designing healthcare; a full swing towards primary prevention and promoting respective and open minded discussion between patients and physicians. Before the proposal of this new system, Alberta was plagued with an unsustainable system with no hope of improvement; unbelievable burdens existed in emergency rooms and hospitals, and Alberta s health outcomes were not up to par with the amount funding that was being given. Although higher taxation may be the answer to this issue, I take the different approach of attempting to design the system to work more efficiently, and place health back into the hands of citizens through empowerment and respective relationships with healthcare professionals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method ideally will shift symptom treatment and permit evidence based diagnosis with the involvement of lifestyle factors. The last feature of telemedicine would be encouraging the use of health helplines. Helplines are knowledgeable resources which aide patients to determine their course of action when faced with a health condition. Moreover, helplines are key to cutting down emergency wait times as helplines can offer alternative advice and recommend the use of other health resources. Patient centred care is a concept which would alleviate the burden of emergency room trips and promote health lifestyles among citizens. I believe patient centred care would increase visits to physicians and allow primary prevention to be more efficient. Moreover, patient centered care would allow a rapport to be built in a respective, open minded environment and physicians would be better equipped to understand how a patient s lifestyle guides their choices and determines their risk for contracting diseases. Managing chronic disease, for example obesity/diabetes, heavily relies on guidance and lifestyle changes. In addition, patient centred care would be aided by telemedicine to increase communication and available health resources. Likewise, along with telemedicine would come a universal database for medical history which would be accessible to all physicians to encourage a more comprehensive look at health and ... • 7. Personal Reflection Of Journalism As An Elective Class When I first selected Journalism as my Elective class I would be challenged in ways I had never experienced in the conventional classroom before. After a full year of the class, I found that while this was demonstrated to be true, the real challenge came from learning how to channel my self motivation and intrinsic passion as opposed to external pressures like harsh due dates and grading. I have never before in my life been given the opportunity to write about my passions and interests for a grade, nor have I had the chance to write on behalf of a respected school institution. My motivations in journalism were essentially flipped from those of the conventional classroom, where my grades are motivated by the institutional pressures of the school, and my actual learning of the subject is motivated by my personal interest in the class. Instead in journalism, my grades are dependent on my personal interests, and my actual learning of the subject is dependent on the institutional pressures of working for such an esteemed organization. This has provided me with a much more realistic educational experience, relative to the professional world, as I am motivated internally to produce content at the job of my choice and externally to conform to the expectations of my employer. I chose to take journalism to see if I could accountably manage my work without many of the guidelines and structure presented in most classes, and I feel that, 12+ quality articles later, I have ... • 8. Examples Of Irony In The Kite Runner Phillip Nasrallah Ms. Fishman English 12 H 15 April 2015 The Master of Irony Khlaed Hosseini uses expresses the beauty of irony throughout his famous novel, The Kite Runner. There are many instances throughout the novel in which events seem to be leaning one way and then suddenly change, unfortunately for the worse. These examples include experiences with Baba, Amir and Hassan. Hosseini s use of irony really hooks the reader, leaving an unpredictable series of events for Amir and Hassan. The first example of irony that is found in the Kite Runner was the day that Hassan got raped. Hosseini wrote how it was a beautiful day (Hosseini 65) and these words came out of Hassan s own mouth. Hassan would never have guessed what was going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baba would always tell Amir how lying was a sin yet Amir eventually finds out that Baba had lied to him about Hassan being his brother. Baba said, There is only one sin. And that is theft... When you tell a lie, you steal someone s right to the truth. (pg.237) By him lying, he completely went against what he said was right. Baba had not only lied to Amir, but to Hassan and others as well. Baba had been doing something he knew was wrong, but he had still chosen to go against his own beliefs and do it anyway. The theme addressed here is simply betrayal. Baba is consistently hypocritical throughout the novel. For example, Baba is immensely ashamed of 11 year old Amir for crying when he saw a man murdered in the street, but later in the novel when Ali and Hassan leave for good, Baba is full of tears. This reveals the bias and corrupt personality Baba possesses. Baba is not a great father and only shows his affection for Amir when great successes occur such as the kite competition victory. Baba betrays many characters in the novel, however he does most of an injustice to Amir, his son. Baba never informing him of his sibling relationship with Hassan appears as stupidity and selfishness. • 9. Book 15 Of The Iliad Essay In the novel The Iliad, written by Homer, a variety of themes can be interpreted from the text. Book 15 of The Iliad contains a scene that involves Achilles risking his best friends life simply because he incapable of letting go. Earlier, in book 6, Prince Paris experiences a moment of courage and challenges King Menelaus over the hand of a woman named Helen. Again, Paris is caught in a violent scene fighting to protect his self pride. In a period of cowardice Paris brother Hector discovers him hiding from battle, and attacks his ego, forcing him to fight once again. Some may say The Iliad is about honor, importance of war, or revenge, but one message that stands above the rest is the hunger for superiority. During book 16 of The Iliad the Achaeans are pushed dangerously close to the coast by the Trojan army. It was at this time that Patroclus seeks the aid of his dear friend Achilles. Patroclus explains to Achilles the carnage that surrounds him and begs his comrade to rejoin the fight. Achilles, still sore over his disagreement with Agamemnon, refuses to fight. As a compromise Achilles offers his armor to Patroclus ensuring his safety: Up now, Zeus born Patroclus, master of horsemen. Lo, I see by the ships the rush of consuming fire. Let it not be that they take the ships and there be no more escaping! Do on my armour with all haste, and I will gather the host (Book 16). This decision brings Patroclus to his eminent doom on the battlefield. It s clear to see that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However when I moved to the U.S. in the eighth grade I was shocked that my peers laughed and antagonized my religious culture. Therefore, if I had converse with one person it would be the orchestrator of the terrible September 11th terrorist attacks. Osama Bin Laden is the reason for the misconstrued view of Islam that is currently seen in the world. In my opinion the origin of Bin Laden is similar to a prominent religious figure in that of the Buddha. Both came from affluent lives, but abandoned it all for their beliefs. However Bin Laden spread the doctrine of negativity, and even worse a false ideal. An ideal that has sadly influenced many other radicals such as Boko Haram, Isis, Taliban, and more. Islam is a very peaceful religion, and it s where I ve learned to become the most humane version of myself. I would ask why would you knowingly ruin the credibility of billions of Muslims? • 11. Differences Between The Colonies Of New England And The... The differences between the colonies of New England and the southern region were stark. First, the settlers who immigrated to the new world had different reasons for doing so. South Carolina was established as a buffer zone between other English colonies and the Spanish colonies in Florida. Georgia was founded for an even more interesting reason. In England, there were many social problems including lewdness, drunkenness, and various sexual sins. Also, those in the upper class who found themselves unable to pay back their loans were sent to debtor s prisons. Georgia was intended to be a place for those people to get a new start, however, most of the colonists who ended up there were poor farmers. On the other hand, the colonies of New England were set up primarily for religious reasons. Although there were some that sought profit in New England, most settlers sought liberty and freedom of worship. English separatists, who vehemently disagreed with the way the Church of England was set up, left Holland and came to America on the Mayflower. They landed in modern Massachusetts and established the Plymouth Colony. Rhode Island was also founded on a religious basis after Roger Williams and his fellow dissenters were exiled from Massachusetts. It became a haven for Quakers, Jews, Baptists and members of other minority religions. A second difference in the colonies of the southern region and of New England comes in the basis of their economies. South Carolina was focusing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Industrial Estate s Liability The rule in Rylands applies to owners of premises as well as occupiers, but Bell would have difficulty overcoming the proofs outlined in respect of Industrial, namely accumulation for Industrial s benefit etc. and the absence of any control by Industrial over the harmful substances. Liability would be more successfully attached to Industrial in negligence for its failure to keep the road in a good state of repair. Firstly, Bell will need to establish that it owed a duty of care to it. As Lord Atkin stated in O Donoghue v Stevenson you must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omission which you can reasonably foresee would be liable to injure your neighbour. While neighbour in this sense does not strictly mean persons who occupy the property beside you, it was established in Glencar Explorations v Mayo Co.Co. that if a plaintiff and defendant s relationship is sufficiently proximate, and the harm caused was foreseeable, then in the absence of policy limitations, a duty of care would arise. Bell should be able to establish a duty of care in that by failing to maintain the road in a good condition, it was reasonably foreseeable that such failure could cause injury to Bell s property, as Industrial knew that tanks full of harmful substances travelled on the road on a daily basis, and that if such chemicals were to escape due to an accident caused by the defective road, they would ... I agree with his statement to a certain degree, according to Oxford Dictionaries virtue means a quality considered morally good or desirable in a person. I can see why Plato would say that virtue is different based on a person s quality to be taught. But for him to say that it is different for a man and a woman I do not agree with this statement. Plato is making virtue being different due to gender. But either person, male or a female have a biological state or disposition obtaining virtue. I think that virtue is different for some people due to learned behavior in their upbringing. A person can acquire virtue by the values and morals being taught or a sense of behavior, and habits are being formed whether they are good, bad, right or wrong as children. Redway BIO 104 Lab 3 November 11, 2014 Introduction According to Medicine.net (2012), genetic transformation is a process by which the genetic material carried by an individual cell is altered by the incorporation of foreign/exogenous DNA into its genome. Competent cells are able to accept DNA presented by experimental influence or manipulation, and the application of genetic engineering with bacteria can aid in the fight against diseases, allowing individuals to maintain their lifestyles without the threat of certain illnesses like heart disease, cancer or hereditary disorders (McPhersson 2008). Plasmid DNA are small circular double stranded helixes, and present in the plasmid are ampr (selectable marker gene) and GFP (Green Florescent Protein), (BIO RAD 2010). Another downside to the use of DNA is the misuse of results. Victims with AIDS feel that they might be stigmatised if their DNA is stored in a national database and it could be used against them. The prospect of a genetic database in Australia has been raised recently. The federal police are pushing for a national database to help solve crime and are asking for legislation to be allowed to collect DNA samples from people accused, or suspected of committing an offence (the Australian, 06.12.1997 see appendix one) The proposal has sparked a moral dilemma. Victoria has had a DNA database since 1992 with the reasoning that, if a suspect is cleared, their DNA must be erased off the list. However, recently Victorian government has allowed police to collect samples from more suspected criminals, not just those accused of murder, serious assault or rape. Now they are allowed to collect from those accused of drug trafficking, arson causing death and aggravated burglary. Privacy is also another big issue surrounding the plans for a database. • 29. Social Organized Crime Perspective Paper Social Organized Crime Perspective Paper Many could argue that organized crime takes place in our society because of the circumstances in which our society has chosen to exist. It could have been started because of rules, regulations, and laws that we have placed upon ourselves that not every person agrees with. It could be a problem because several of the people within our society choose to live differently because they feel they can. Whatever the logic behind the choice organized crime does exist in our society and has for quite some time. In this paper will take a look at the perspective of social organized crime. We will discuss and explain the term social institution and how it applies to organized crime. We will discuss empirical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This theory attempts to give insight as to how a person can choose to live a life of crime and or choose to become affiliated with an organized crime group and live a life of crime as a profession and a career. In conclusion we are a society that has formed and developed into a social institution. We have rules that are both written and unwritten. Those rules may not be for everyone and those who refuse to agree to live by them often choose to live a life of crime. Once they learn a life of crime they may choose to make a career out of their efforts and become more intelligent as criminals. When this happens they learn to behave more and more like criminals until their life becomes that surrounded by and involved with organized crime. We as a society refute this and by refuting it we encourage it. Internet Reference, http://wps.pearsoncustom.com/wps/media/objects/6904/7070214/CRJ455_Ch02.pdf, retrieved on October 23, ... • 30. War and Deception The responsibilities of a presidential administration to the United States should be easily defined, but in many instances have come to be uncertain. There are two wars over the last century that have compromised the American reputation, as well as the integrity of our people. On these two occasions the intentions of our president have been something different than publicized to the country. The United States as a whole was deceived by two particular leaders and their administration. Through propaganda, selective speech, and exaggerated evidence, Presidents Lyndon Johnson and George W. Bush manipulated the support of the nation for their bold military actions and personal agendas. In August of 1964 there was an alleged attack by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of the Vietnam War was to stop communist expansion and to protect South Vietnam from attacks by North Vietnam and rebels within South Vietnam who hoped to unite the two countries under communism (Nelson, 488). This war was one of the most excruciating experiences in American history. It left us wounded and deflated as a superpower. Americans view of their country after a loss and embarrassment like this one was now ruined. No one president is entirely responsible for the development of this war, but Johnson was the first to send combat troops to Vietnam. Years later, after learning the deception of the Johnson administration, blame may be placed more upon Johnson and his manipulation of Congress and the public by publicizing a threat to our security that never existed. The administration took advantage of Congress and exaggerated or simply created an attack on the U.S. as an excuse to use military action on North Vietnam. Daniel Ellsburg, a government insider and a State Department civilian during the Vietnam War, stole, copied and published the Pentagon Papers. The Pentagon Papers were a top secret study of the U.S. decision making in Vietnam. Ellsburg worked closely with the presidential administration during the war and was sent to Vietnam for two years to observe the war and evaluate the pacification of the countryside (Ellsburg, VIII). Immediately after returning from Vietnam he began to do everything in his power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. I Chose The Top Left Picture Of The Vanity Fair In this 21st century where representation and visibility of all groups is valued, it is not surprising to see photos or videos in the media promoting or even advertising unique lifestyle that just a few decades ago would unearthed a feeling of disgust or repulsion. While on one hand some uses media in a positive way, introducing us to new fresher ideas which would ve been unthinkable before. Suchlike families aside from the traditional nuclear family (e.g. single parent household, lesbian and gay couples, or eccentric families in general), people of colour taking bolder or positions of leadership, or even simple individuals breaking the barrier of norms. On the other hand, there are those who simply see the media as a lucrative business aimed to spread consumer commodification and vain lifestyle. As I want to focus on the latter, I chose the top left picture of the Vanity Fair (VF) March 2014 issue. This month s issue s cover is Jen Selter, fitness model and supposedly an inspiration for many young girls to go to the gym. I can be put in the basket of haters but frankly, I ve never heard of her and seeing just the magazine with her on the cover, in that position wearing that dress doesn t appeal to me. She s wearing a black dress that covers parts that should be, but is showing enough skin to entice curiosity paired with black stilettos. Taking a four legged animal stance on bland looking table with a hazy, rugged wall to complete the scene . Honestly speaking, at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. India s Issue Of Kashmir India thinks that Kashmir is not the issue for an international concern and India does not consider UN s take on any political action over Kashmir. India s apprehension of Kashmir is reasonable somehow because India has fought three times with Pakistan regarding Kashmir s issue. On the contrary, resolution does not come through military action. According to India, if India is ready to establish Kashmir as a democratic province with all the privileges of an autonomous, there is no guarantee to Kashmir will be under the Indian union. Because there are lots of terrorist groups are fighting against India. Pakistan is supporting them by providing materials as well as financial backing (Schofield, V. 2000). The war between Pakistan and India in 1965 and 1999 see also (Bose, S. 2009) has shown that India and Pakistan are increasing their military power and facing the challenges. On the other hand, China is behind the Pakistan. So India is worrying if USA and China extend their support to Pakistan and Pakistan prepares to attack Kashmir. Indian central politics are also responsible for improving Kashmir case. Sonia Gandhi (leader of Indian Congress) is a liberal and her party wants a dialogue with Kashmir and Pakistan both. But recent Prime Minister Narendra Modi (BJP) doesn t want to negotiate with this case. • 34. Reasons for Project Failure Reasons for Project Failure There are many causes of project failure and every failed project will have its own set of issues. Sometimes it is a single trigger event that leads to failure, but more often than not, it is a complex entwined set of problems that combine and cumulatively result in failure. In case of Avon, though implementation of SMT model was a the next logic step which would give a tremendous boost to its direct marketing structure, there were some pretty drastic errors made which led to catastrophic failure of the project. The prime causes of failure in case of Avon were: Lack of coordination between the model development group and the end users who will actually be using the model to place orders. The model had an excellent back end system to integrate with warehouse. During the testing it responded correctly showing correct inventory numbers. However, the user interface was not paid much attention to. It selected and implemented a third party e commerce solution for that purpose. Also, the UI was extremely non user friendly. It took a long time to place an order and at times even gave faulty inventory numbers. It s more evidence of an emerging trend that corporate workers are increasingly demanding the business apps they use be as intuitive and user friendly as the consumer apps they rely upon in their personal life. This trend, which ties into the consumerization of IT, challenges traditional enterprise software giants such as SAP, Oracle and Epicor, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Husband Loathes His Wife s Birthmark I found the husband interesting because of the way he completely loathes his wife s birthmark. His hatred seems to be a symbol of people who are not content in their wonderful situation. The husband says that the wife s face would be flawless and beautiful if it were without the crimson birthmark. He loathes this birthmark so much that he says it reminds him of sin and earthliness, opposed to perfection and heavenliness. I find interest in the husband s character because of his hate towards a little thing that can be covered with two fingers. This obsession makes me think that the husband character is a representation of people who complain about a small imperfection, inconvenience, or issue in their life. • 36. Hiram Ulyssess Grant Research Paper Hiram Ulysses Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio on April 27,1822 to Jesse Root Grant and Hannah Simpson Grant (Williams). His first name was decided upon by his maternal grandmother while his middle name was an alternate form of his father s favorite literary character, whose name was Odysseus (Schlesinger Jr.). His parents had three daughters and two sons after Ulysses. During his childhood, he was shy but had a large passion for horses (Grant, 8). He worked on his family s farm and attended local schools where he was not a very good student. In 1839, his father decided to send him to West Point, an idea that Grant was not to fond of (Lincoln, 422). When he arrived at West Point, he was recorded as Ulysses S. Grant. After his victory, he was promoted to a general in the major army, and was placed in control of the Military Division of the Mississippi River in October of 1863 (Lincoln, 423,). The next month, he was promoted to lieutenant general and commander of the Union armies following his defeat of General Braxton Briggs. Following his promotion, he pitted all the Union s resources against the Confederacy. Predictably, the Union won the Civil War on May 9, 1865 (Lincoln, 423). After the war, Grant served as interim Secretary of War for several months in 1867 through 1868. During this time, he became permanently estranged from then President Andrew Johnson. The estrangement was caused over conflict about the Tenure of Office Act between President Johnson and Congress (Lincoln, 423). Grant s political supporters were mostly Republicans, especially the Radical Republicans. In 1868, Ulysses S. Grant was nominated as president and ran again Horatio Seymour, who was a democrat. The popular vote was close, but Grant managed to win it and took 214 electoral votes out of the 294 possible and became the 18th President of the United States (Lincoln, ... • 37. Herbert George Wells Research Paper With over fifty novels published, more than twenty short stories, a couple of textbooks, many political essays, a few accurate predictions of the future, influence on the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and zero awards to show for it, Herbert George Wells was one of the most notable authors of the 20th century. An early interest in reading and science shaped Wells s studies in college and career. The publication of his first novel, The Time Machine, rocketed his name to the metaphorical top. His political views also influenced his books and personal life. He was most well known for his science fiction works; themes of science, society, class, community, as well as socialist ideas that ran through his work. Additionally, Wells frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... G. Wells consist of symbolism, a journalistic narrator, and open ended endings. Use of symbolism was seen in the concept of fire in The Time Machine. Fire was an abundant quantity in this book. When the Time Traveler first started a fire, it became out of control quickly and an entire forest burned down. The Time Traveler routinely used matches for both good and evil. Fire symbolized the technology incorporated into the time machine: it could be good, but also misused; and it had unintended consequences (The Time Machine Analysis). The War of The Worlds compared people to animals; people have as much power after the Martians arrived as animals have now (The War of the Worlds Analysis). Darkness was used as a symbol in The Invisible Man, as it represented uncertainty (The Invisible Man Analysis). Another device used by Wells was the narrator s methods of storytelling. The narrators in these books were in the first person, and very journalistic with omniscient tendencies (Shmoop Editorial Team Analyses). Finally, the endings of these books contained open ended aspects. In The Time Machine, the Time Traveler simply disappeared. Absolutely no indication of what happened to him was given (The Time Machine). The ending to The War of the Worlds was both optimistic and pessimistic. Sure, the Martians died, but now, so could Earth. Anything could have happened from here, as the future was uncertain (The War of the Worlds). At the end of The Invisible Man, ... • 38. Dairy Calves Scours in newborn calves that causes diarrhea is an infection cause by several types of bacteria, and viruses that is easily spread through fecal matter, or may be in the environment. Due to weak immune system of newborns they re more likely to catch a disease because they have not built up an immunity to their environment yet. For newborns this disease can be fatal if severe enough, and left untreated; however, there are preventive measures. Ways of preventing scours in dairy calves include: separate enclosures, commercial colostrum, and cleaning/environmental strategies. The main prevention against scours in calves are individual calf pens in a calf room in a separate part of the barn. Calves are separated from their mothers, not long after ... The newborn calf needs a dry, clean place if we expect it to survive free of scours (Stoltenow, Charles, and Vincent, Lani). The less pathogens the calves are exposed to in the beginning of their life the less chance of them catching a disease. Therefore, having gradual exposure allows the calf s body to adapt to its environment without shocking its system and causing it to be overloaded. This way cows can become incorporated into the main herd of milking cows at an appropriate age for being bred to start the milk cycle.
