The Relationship Between Google And Our Individual Right
Summary:
Following will be the analysis of the relationship between Google and our individual right to privacy.
Google is constantly gathering personal information about people when they use various Google
products. The extent Google is involved in our lives, as well as the methods used to gather data on
individuals, is not known by most people. This report is going to take a brief look into whether Google
s practices are ethical as well as legal.
Why this paper is of interest?
This paper should be of interest to the reader because most people use at least one Google product on
a daily basis, probably more. When you sign up for Google products, you are pretty much agreeing to
give your personal information to Google. This paper is about ... Show more content on

That issue is the collection and aggregation of the private personal information of its users.
Google has a lot of talent and does a lot of things really well, and they collect data really well too.
Google has this lust for information which is great, and they have their own methods for collecting
and storing private information, which can also be great. However, Google was ranked to have the
worst privacy policy out of all other major service providers by Privacy International. Google even
opposed a subpoena because, [The] request for information threatened its trade secrets and image as a

Nearly everyone uses some Google product, even if it s just the search engine. We all love that Google

Music And Its Effect On People Essay
There have always been significant uses of music in particular background situations to create desired
effects on people. Retail stores use music to increase spending, employers use specific types of music
to ease their employees, and doctors use soothing music to help relax their tense patients. Teachers
come across numerous challenges within their classrooms when it comes to the distractions that
students encounter. It may be behavior which is distracting, such as doing something not class related,
or it may be behavior that is interruptive and intentionally disruptive. Not all students can come to
school with a fresh start that allows them to be ready and willing to learn. Still, society expects
educators to teach all students and for all students to learn in the same ways. Studies have shown that
music can be an efficient tool for resolving some of these barricades of the learning process. When
music is suitably used as a background enhancer, the student s ability to concentrate within the
classroom setting increases.
As the classroom setting has advanced and progressed over time, teachers now have an opportunity to
enrich learning further than before. There are various approaches a teacher can positively use to affect
the productivity, behavior, and motivation of students. One of the specific strategies now commonly
used to boost student learning is the use of background music. Background music is not actively or
purposely listened to, but intended to be heard.

What Is The Chinese Parenting Style In The Roar Of The...
Title
Every parent always wants what is best for their children. But what is the best way to go about this?
There are so many ways one can go and never know if you are right or are doing the right thing. You
might believe you are doing what is best for your child or children, but other parents don t see that so
it can be conflicting at times. In the essay, The Roar of the Tiger Mom Amy Chua explains with great
detail, the many differences between Chinese mothers and western parents have in the upbringing of
their children trying to prepare them for the real world. Amy Chua puts in her own insight of Chinese
mothers trying to justify the Chinese parenting style, however, many western parents would defy
Chinese parenting style .
Amy Chua formed a list of the things she would never allow her children to do. These things may
seem like the normal thing for some, but seem completely bizarre for others. Chua does not allow her
children to:
Attend a sleepover, have a playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school play,
watch TV or play computer games, choose their own extracurricular activities, get any grade less than
an A, not to be number 1 student in every subject except gym and drama, play any instrument other
than the piano or violin, not play the piano or violin (Chua 305). These are just a few of the many
things that Amy Chua and Chinese mothers forbid their children from doing. Many Chinese mothers
would most likely agree with these few basic

Analysis Of What s That Smell In The Kitchen
What s That Smell in the Kitchen? Marge Piercy s What s That Smell in the Kitchen is a poem that
expresses through descriptive language the difficulty of women s lives. By making What s That Smell
in the Kitchen simple, Piercy uses repetition, imagery, and similes to portray women s lives. First,
Piercy uses repetition to make the readers reminded. Women (Lines 1 and 7) show how it is more than
one women working hard. Her (Lines 9, 12, 14, and 18) points out an individual women s possessions
such as feelings or food. She (Lines 13, 15, and 20) is also representing an individual women, but
instead it is giving off her actions. Piercy using repetition of women, her, and she specify only women
have hard lives. Second, Piercy uses Imagery

Research Paper On Andrew Jackson And The Battle Of New...
Andrew Jackson and The Battle of New Orleans Andrew Jackson is widely known for his time as our
seventh president, however, he started off as a general and led the famous Battle of New Orleans. The
war started when American ships were targeted for search and attack by the British Navy. The United
States were outnumbered, yet in the end, we still reigned victorious. By uniting Americans, Native
Americans, and the Baratarian pirates the British were defeated and the treaty of Ghent was signed
and made official, ending the war of 1812.
The War of 1812 (Conflict) The war of 1812 started for many reasons, however, one of the main
reasons was British navy stopping and searching American ships for former British sailors who
abandoned their ships and forcing people to fight for them. Another reason for the war s start was
because motivation of the war hawks of the US congress to go to war with great Britain was their need
to totally expel Great Britain from the remaining land still under British domain on the North
American Peninsula, (Tim Nash). This need to push Britain out of the North American peninsula
helped the USA grow to be what it is today. As the war heated, America grew its army to include not
only Americans, but also had the Baratarian pirates and some Native American tribes, though most
sided with the British hoping for independence. [After many American victories, it was time to take

Moonlight Chiron Character Analysis
At the end of the movie Moonlight , Chiron became a better version of himself, because he started as
someone who was weak and became someone who can fend for themselves. This could be observed
by taking a comparison of Chiron in the beginning of the film where he is scared and lonely, and
Chiron near the end of the film in Act 3 where he becomes hardened by the obstacles that life had
thrown at him, and is able to reconcile with the people whom he cared about, after they had been a
part of the obstacles of his life. The fact that Chiron was able to become a new, stronger person in the
face of his adversaries is how he became a better version of themselves. Another observation could be
made in Act 2, where Chiron gets bullied by Tyrell who pressured Kevin to play the game which
involved hitting Chiron to the ground multiple times. After Chiron had experienced this, he sought out
to exact revenge by smashing a chair on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Act 3, Chiron reconciles with his mother, as well as Kevin. Before this, in Act 2, both his mother
and Kevin had become people who opposed Chiron and tore him down. Being able to reconcile with
the people who had thrown him aside shows that he would be able to see a different perspective, one
where he could see that they were pressured to do such things against him, which is an improvement
to his mentality when facing the obstacles he is presented with. When someone is a better person, then
they have faced their obstacles in life and succeeded in pushing through them. I know this because
becoming a better person is subjective, but there is always one thing that happens when someone
improves themselves, which is the fact that they are no longer in a struggle with the past, and are able
to keep themselves up with their own strength that they have improved themselves

Team Work Essay
Introduction
Teamwork is essential to the smooth running of many projects, organisations and companies. Much
research has been conducted into the effectiveness of teams and their contributions to organisational
success.
This essay considers one particular team consisting of two student nurses (members A and B) and 4
student radiographers (members C, D, E, and F), all 3rd year degree level, whose task was to produce
a poster for assessment over a one week period.
Theory and models of teamwork will be used to discuss all aspects of this team including team roles,
communication, conflict and decision making. Conclusions will then be drawn as to how the team
could have been more effective in their completion of the task. ... Show more content on

Research has shown that teamwork increases efficiency (Thylefors et al, 2005 in Newson, 2006). A
team can pool knowledge and skills and, if well motivated, create energy increasing a team s
efficiency beyond that of the individuals.
Modern views on teamwork also consider the satisfaction of the workforce by becoming more
autonomous and reducing hierarchical structures (Ovretveit et al, 1997).
5 Team Development
The most commonly used model to discuss team development is Tuckman s (1965) (in Huczynski
Buchanan, 2001) forming, storming, norming and performing model. However, the team concerned
more closely followed the Cog s ladder model (see appendix 1. for full description) (Walton, 1984).
1. Polite stage (day 1)
The initial introductions of the team members took place during a coffee break, however, the task was
not clearly discussed at this stage and so roles were not yet defined. The members worked at a
distance from each other to complete a treasure hunt task.
2. Why are we here? (day 2)
The goals were established and two subgroups (student nurses, A and B and student radiographers, C,
D, E and F) emerged.
3. Bid for power (day 2/3)
Conflict and rivalry within the group prevailed. At this stage two members of the group, A and C,
became identifiable as leaders.
4. Constructive phase (day 3/4)
The team did eventually reach this stage with activities being divided amongst members and all
members participating.

Symbolism Of Sleep In Macbeth
In the Bible it says, Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put a person asleep, an innocent
or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty . God speaks about the harm of killing the
innocent and the people asleep. In the play, Macbeth, by William Shakespeare uses this idea of sleep
symbolizing the innocence and when provoked will lead to the eternal sleep of honest people, the
madness upon the guilty, and the death of innocence. The protagonist, Macbeth, challenges god s
testament and does wicked actions which reel in the sleep theme. Firstly, Macbeth provokes the
symbol of sleep which is a gift of god by leading honest people into eternal sleep, death. Macbeth s
actions reflect his character as vile perpetrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth hears cries that continuously haunt his life. It cries, Sleep no more to all the house; Glamis
hath murdered sleep; and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more (II, ii, l.44). This quote interconnects
with the sleep theme because Glamis and Cawdor are both Macbeth s roles prior to being king and
that now that Macbeth has killed a person in their sleep, he shall never sleep. This idea shows the main
point of madness if you don t go to sleep you will be tired and start feeling mad and ill tempered.
Another example would be Lady Macbeth doing strange things in her sleep. Her servants say, I have
seen her rise from her bed, throw her night gown upon her...the benefit of sleep, and do the effects of
watching (V, i, l. 3 7). This shows the madness of Lady Macbeth who helped Macbeth murder King
Duncan which makes her guilty was in the bubble in her mind that she is doing everything awake but
she is doing it in her sleep. This madness is led by the guilt of killing the innocence and depriving
them of their peaceful sleep. Macbeth s power influences madness, eternal sleep and death of

Essay On Pericles Funeral Oration
In 431 BCE, Pericles delivered his Funeral Oration during the midst of the Peloponnesian War in
order to honor those who died for Athens. This eulogy was given in the middle of the war during a
state celebration where the population gathered to commemorate those who defended Athens.
However, Pericles also used his speech as an opportunity to honor the military and to inspire other
citizens to fill the remaining vacancies in the army. Throughout his speech, Pericles emphasizes the
glory of the Athenian democracy in order to honor the fallen soldiers and to inspire his people to
continue to fight for the future of Athens. Pericles begins his speech by reflecting on the history of the

By demonstrating the success of the Athenian military, Pericles discusses why these fallen soldiers are
heroes who will live on in history. He mentions, They gave her their lives, to her and to all of us, and
for their own selves they won praises that never grow old, the most splendid of sepulchers not the
sepulcher in which their bodies are laid, but where their glory remains eternal in men s minds, always
there on the right occasion to stir others to speech or to action (76 77). While the men would be
honored and buried together, their real graves live on in the minds of those living in Athens. Not only
will their loved ones remember them, but future soldiers will use them as inspiration to keep fighting
in the war. Similarly, Pericles calls for the remaining citizens to grieve for their loved ones, but also to
consider making new children that will continue to fight for the Athenian legacy. Pericles explains, In
your own homes these new children will prevent you from brooding over those who are no more, and
they will be a help to the city, too, both in filling the empty places, and in assuring her security (77).
By having new children, these families will no longer be fixated on their dead loved ones. These
children will fill the empty places of society by serving the greatness of Athens, especially males who
will be able to join the military. Overall,

The Horror Story Of Slender Man
Coming into the 21st century, we have come up with a new way to shed light upon one of our scariest
nightmares. The new boogeyman that has swept across the nation and the world is called, Slenderman.
He is an unusually tall and slender man dressed in a nice suit. He doesn t seem scary at first until you
see his, well, lack of a face. Even then, he doesn t seem that scary until you hear the stories.
Slenderman stalks and psychologically torments his victims (who are usually children) for long
periods of time until he takes his victim in his long tentacles, which grow from his shoulder blades,
and he drags them to another dimension where he consumes them ( Slender Man The Wiki). These
tales are just scary stories to strike a new fear into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For young, immature minds the evidence can be compelling; YouTube documentaries have been
created (Slender Suits by fxscreamer), many forums and websites have pictures of Slenderman
(creepypasta, SomethingAwful, Tumblr etc.), and stories written by non proffessional sources from
several other websites. For those who look further into it, evidence disproving all of this is easily
found. If someone were to look up the true origin of Slenderman, it is clearly stated that it is a fictional
character created for a photo contest. After the attempted murder of the Wisconsin girl, Something
Awful even created an article (as blunt and unfeeling as it may be) telling people where Slenderman
originates from and pleading with people to not be stupid and kill in Slenderman s name (Parsons).
Using the baloney detection kit (or any form of common sense for that matter), any evidence that
Slenderman is real, is unsubstantial, as it is. Photographs, stories and videos are all dismissible due to
how easily they can be manipulated into fallacies. The substantial evidence for the existence of a
Slenderman type creature is truly

Richard III Context
Shakespeare s 16th century play, Richard III , is a literary interaction of characters and events which
reflects the Elizabethan social, political and historical context, whilst simultaneously exploring several
universal themes portrayed by Shakespeare. Through the interplay between the context, text and
themes, Richard III s relevance is ongoing even to a 21st century audience. Shakespeare s conformity
to the Tudor myth consequently influences the characterisation of Richard as a deformed and
villainous noble versus Richmond as a divine restorer, in order for his audience to quickly despite
Richard and accept Richmond as a deserving king. This also allows for Shakespeare s critique on what
is considered human and inhuman. Shakespeare also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Richard is portrayed to manipulate other characters within the play, which conveys his Machiavellian
ethics. This duplicitous nature is highlighted to the audience in the opening soliloquy, as he states I am
determined to prove a villain and after his wooing of Lady Anne, as states in his aside to the audience,
I ll have her, but I will not keep her long, which is indicative of his true, evil motives. Thus, his
usurpation of the throne is portrayed as a major disruption to the Elizabethan Chain of Being.
Therefore, as a result of Richard s disruption, it requires the divine intervention of God and other
supernatural beings. This divine intervention is foreshadowed to the Elizabethan audience through
Queen Margaret s curse on Richard, as she states, A murderous villain, and so still art thou. Which
God revenge! God s divine intervention is also evident through the appearance of ghosts of characters
who were slain by Richard. They repetitively curse him, saying, Despair, and die. The presence of
ghosts within the play convey a sense of distortion between the physical and supernatural world as a
result of Richard s disturbance to the Chain of Being. The Elizabethan belief in a providential power is
also conveyed through

DM74LS47 BCD to 7 Segment Decoder/Driver with Open Collector Outputs
General Description
The DM74LS47 accepts four lines of BCD (8421) input data, generates their complements internally
and decodes the data with seven AND/OR gates having open collector outputs to drive indicator
segments directly. Each segment output is guaranteed to sink 24 mA in the ON (LOW) state and
withstand 15V in the OFF (HIGH) state with a maximum leakage current of 250 µA. Auxiliary inputs
provided blanking, lamp test and cascadable zero suppression functions.

The internal NAND gate that generates the RBO signal has a resistive pull up, as opposed to a totem
pole, and thus BI/ RBO can be forced LOW by external means, using wiredcollector logic. A LOW
signal thus applied to BI/RBO turns off all segment outputs. This blanking feature can be used to
control display intensity by varying the duty cycle of the blanking signal. A LOW signal applied to LT
turns on all segment outputs, provided that BI/RBO is not forced LOW.

Benefits Of Investing A Mutual Fund
!!!What Are Mutual Funds?
Before we go over when to buy and sell a mutual fund, let s discuss exactly what a mutual fund is. A
__mutual fund__ is simply a pool of money from different people like you; it is professionally
managed with the purpose of investing in different securities. The business or bank that manages a
mutual fund and attempt to produce income for investors is referred to as a __money manager__.
Since mutual funds are professionally managed, they are ideal for a person who has very little
knowledge of investing.
There are several advantages of investing in a mutual fund. The biggest advantage is the
diversification it offers. One mutual fund might invest in stocks of large companies and others may
invest in U.S. Treasury bills. Whatever the mutual fund offered by the bank is investing in, each
investor in the fund shares in the fund s gains or losses. It is important to remember that mutual funds
are not stocks, they are portfolios of things like stocks and bonds.
!!!Choosing A Mutual Fund
In business or even in life, the quality of management plays a direct role on the success of the venture.
The quality of management offered for a mutual fund is no different. In the investment world, mutual
funds are either actively managed or indexed. __Actively managed funds__ uses more human capital
to actively manage a fund s portfolio, they use expertise and research to determine what securities to
buy or sell. __Indexed funds__ are the opposite of active,

Interaction with the Web site
A retailer s Web site is the primary contact point in an online transaction, where customers can
ascertain a great deal of information about an organization s attention to detail and emphasis on
customer satisfaction. If a Web site is hard to use and visually distracting, customers will often switch
to another retailer that makes the shopping experience easier. Five attributes influence how customers
evaluate the quality of their Web site interactions.
Ease of Use When customers access a retailer s Web site, they often find that no formal instructions
are provided. Instead, online retail settings frequently require customers to learn by doing. This means
that a Web site must be extremely intuitive and easy to use, regardless of how much computer
experience a customer has. In an online setting, customers associate ease of use with freedom from
significant mental effort.3 One of the strengths of online retailing endless shelf space can quickly turn
into a weakness if a Web site is difficult to use. Customers want easy to use search engines that allow
them to find products quickly. For instance, Amazon.com Inc. has a wide variety of products spanning

Judgments of Conduct in Sense and Sensibility Essay
Sense and Sensibility is an elegant story that portrays the advantages of the first over the second, as
manifested between two sisters of opposing temperaments, one of whom loves wisely and the other
passionately. Set in London and its surrounding countryside, the story relates how Elinor, the eldest of
Mrs. Dashwood s daughters, and Marianne, the second eldest, share in the agony of tragic love. In the
opening of the book, Mrs. Dashwood and her three daughters are forced to move to a new and smaller
abode, as her husband s death left her fairly unwealthy.
During their transition, the Dashwood s stayed with her step son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. John

On the way home to Barton, Elinor, Marianne, and Mrs. Jennings, escorted by Colonel Brandon, made
a short stop at Cleveland. There, Marianne regressed and became quite ill and at the advice of a
doctor, was confined to her bed. Mrs. Dashwood was immediately summoned at the request of Elinor,
who could no longer stand alone under the pressure of Marianne s pain compounded with her own. To
her astonishment, while Elinor anxiously sat awaiting her mother s arrival, who should come to the
door but Willoughby, the scoundrel who had left her sister for someone else. He had come to profess
his tremendous guilt in the horrible thing he had done to Marianne and to ask for as much forgiveness
as they were willing to grant him. This act of courtesy softened the hearts of both Marianne, who had
already forgiven him, and Elinor.
Upon the arrival of Mrs. Dashwood at Cleveland, Marianne quickly grew strong again and they were
soon able to make their way back to Barton. As Elinor sat by the window one afternoon, she glanced
across the lawn and saw the figure of a man on horseback. He stopped at their gate and she thought
him to be Colonel Brandon, but soon she saw that it was noneother than Edward Ferrars, whom she

Essay On Implication Of JK-STAT
Implications of JAK STAT in disease
So far, we have seen that this pathway is accountable for the transduction of extracellular stimulus into
transcriptional factors that regulate several cellular functions. STATs are also known to exert
additional functions such as affecting oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, regulating chromatin
compliance and epigenetic markings in the nucleus and interacting with the microtubule components
in the cytoplasm which are responsible for cellular motility (4). This pathway has been observed to
play an integral role in the development of mammary gland, stem cells, lymphocytes, neuronal cells,
eye cells, cardiomyocytes, adipocytes. Consequently, its dysregulation induces various diseases,
including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
STATs contribute significantly to cellular fate decisions of differentiating naïve T cells into regulatory
and inflammatory T cells, lymphocyte development, and exercise control over the intensity and
duration of inflammatory responses. STAT3 particularly is involved in the regulation of cell death, cell
growth and in the transcription of inflammatory genes. This serves as the basis for its contribution to
the development of chronic inflammatory diseases and neurodegenerative diseases (8).
This pathway has been associated with several monogenic diseases like the bubble boy syndrome (X
linked severe combined immunodeficiency). The extreme susceptibility to pathogens observed is
caused by a lack of T and NK cells, which occurs due to loss of function variants of the common γ
chain signal transduction. A subset of SCID patients demonstrated mutations in Jak3 kinase specifying
the non redundant in vivo functions for any JAK/STAT component (9). After the initial discovery of
JAK3 SCID, many Mendelian disorders were reported. Discoveries made in the past three decades
help us to correlate loss of function STAT mutations with specific types of pathogens. STAT1
mutations make patients vulnerable to viral and mycobacterial infections, whereas patients having
STAT2 mutations are prone to viral infections and fungal infections are most common in patients with
STAT3 mutations (2).
The last 20 years have brought to the fore remarkable connections between JAK STAT

Comparison Of The Architecture Of Christians And Muslim Spain
There are many examples of both Christians and Muslims adopting the artistic styles of the other in
their architecture that act as examples of this cross cultural artistic expression. This is evident in the
appropriation of Arabic calligraphy, a prominent decorative feature in mosques and Muslim palaces, in
the buildings of Mozarab Christians. On the part of the Moors, the horseshoes shaped arch that is
prominent in many mosques and palaces is adopted from Visigothic arches of a similar nature. This
horseshoe arch was, representative of the indigenous church building tradition of pre Muslim Spain,
and thus demonstrated a way in which Moorish architects were influenced by Christian techniques.
This level of architectural syncretism can help to explain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although they often took advantage of times in which they could express Christian triumph over the
defeated Moors, the aesthetic of the conquered mosques had already been utilized by Mozarabs for
years, blurring the lines between what was decidedly Islamic and what was decidedly Christian. Most
of the converted mosques retained their original structures, unless remodeling was necessary. This
showed a level of appreciation for Islamic architecture and art by the Christian conquerors. The
mosque, nonetheless, presented architectural forms that were distinctively Islamic and understood as
such by contemporary viewers. The Christian response to these forms is surprising both in terms of its
volume, as medieval responses to art and architecture are rare, and in its almost unanimously positive
nature. In many documents, there has been outward admiration and appreciation for

Compare And Contrast Anglo Saxon And English Language
Both the Anglo Saxons and Vikings had their own identity and language, they migrate and then have
to find ways to communicate and understand each other. The same happened in the previous centuries
when countries were invaded by other tribes and cultures integrated. People were brought together and
had to communicate, new languages were formed or existing languages had to adapt to accommodate
new loan words and phrases. Written communication had to be such that most of the readers influence
on English, as a modern language today is still visible. Each of these cultures, their language and

Mexican And American Family Traditions
On the fourth Thursday of every November, families gather together to spend a day filled with food

Thanksgiving celebration. Despite my parents home being Mexico, they started a family in America
and decided to teach their children about both of the places they come from. A compromise between
American and Mexican traditions formed and served as a family tradition until last year. A year ago,

Watsons Theory of Caring
Watson s Theory of Human Caring The nursing profession has undergone a multitude of changes
throughout its long and storied history; the profession has transformed from a job typically taken by
women to care for sick members of their families into the science and art that it is today. Nursing
practice and education has used numerous theories over the years some written by nurses, some by
other professionals, and they differ in what the nature of nursing is or should be. In this paper I will
demonstrate how one such theory is taking the art and science of nursing back to its roots of caring for
people and not just treating diseases and disorders. By employing Dr. Watson s human caring theory I
will show why it is important to treat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The caring is actualized in the moment because of the choices and actions taken by the patient and
nurse, one serving as the caregiver, the other the recipient of care. During these moments how the
nurse chooses to act and portray him or herself will have a significant impact on the caring moment as
well as future caring moments in relation to the treatment outcomes (Alligood, 2008). Dr. Watson s
goals when creating her theory, correlated with the mental spiritual growth for self and others, finding
meaning in one s own existence and experiences, discovering inner power and control, and
potentiating instances of transcendence and self healing (Watson,2007). The theory also is unique in
that the change required to resolve the health issues does not include technology, medication,
physicians, or nurses the true agent of change is the patient experiencing a well balanced mind, body,
and soul. Employing Watson s theory in nursing is not always an easy task, many nurses today can
argue that they simply do not have the time required to develop a true caring moment. With more
hospitals demanding more of their nursing staff it becomes a daunting task to develop a genuine
caring moment. In applying Dr. Watson s theory to nursing practice the following is an account of a
caring moment that I have had and how Watson s theory and carative factors guided my actions and
thought process throughout the interaction. While working in a Military emergency room (ER) early

Life Can Bring Out The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
Life can bring out the good, the bad, and the ugly. Most people can identify one person who shares
these three traits. Heroes usually take the form of the good, while villains take the form of the bad or
even the ugly. However, one thing remains certain. Most people who are brought up to become heroes
are unsung heroes. They are not famous, nor recognized for their deeds. Instead, this breed of heroes
commits themselves to the greater good, not to the fame or extravagant lives some heroes eventually

Vietnam where he became a school teacher in 1909. After 2 years of teaching, he decided to work as a

ports all across Europe, North America, Russia, and China. From this, he learned French, Chinese,
Thai, Chinese, Russian, and English. These skills would help him later in life. When World War 1

insight on how persuasive he was, and how his social skills helped him greatly. People working with
him described him as an an ambitious man . After working in London, he moved to France where he

The development and expression of Judaism from its start in God s revelation to one person
(Abraham) to the important worldwide religion of today is due to the contribution of a number of
significant people and schools of thought and of course the continuation of the community of believers
worldwide. One of these special people was Moses Maimonides. * Using the above information and

All 3 religions can trace their origins back to a common source and that is the leaders of each of the
religion can be traced back to Adam. This means that all 3 religions have some aspects of
commonality such as the belief of 1 god and all people are descendants of Adam and Eve.

The Importance Of A 3d Supportive Structure
As mentioned before, in tissue regeneration is of crucial importance the use of a 3D supportive
structure because when cells are seeded into these scaffolds enables the proliferation of cells and
chondrogenic differentiation; and with it the three dimensional tissue formation. Scaffolds must be
able to withstand physiological loading until sufficient tissue regeneration occurs. Moreover, the
material must be sufficiently porous to allow for effective transport of nutrients. Finally, it should be
biocompatible and, if biodegradable, degrade as the tissue matrix is produced leaving only nontoxic
degradation products.

When we do a good job or win something, who doesn t like to be praised? It is the same way for
heroes. Their return is a synonym of glory. For example, when Odysseus was undercover he tells
Penelope how his welcome was and how he was treated, So I took Odysseus back to my house, gave
him a hero s welcome, treated him in style stores in our palace made for princely entertainment. (The
Return of Odysseus, pg. 27) A hero has to prove his heroicness, retell the stories of his andreia, if not,

Unraveling the molecular mechanism of DNA binding by Transcription activator like effectors
Sequence specific DNA targeting of nucleases, recombinases and transcriptional activators is a
powerful tool to manipulate the sequence or regulate the expression of the gene of interest. While Zinc
fingers specific to DNA trinucleotides, coupled to different effector domains have been employed for
targeted manipulation of the genome with considerable success, we are limited by the off target
toxicity caused by trinucleotide specific zinc fingers. Recently, it has been shown that Xanthomonas

In the crystal structure presented by Deng et al., the central region of an engineered TALE dHax3
shows a super helical assembly with an external diameter of 60A and a pitch also of 60A with 11
repeat domains per helical turn. This structure strongly suggests that dHax3 wraps around the DNA
helix. Each repeat of dHax3 consists of 34 amino acids, 3 to 11 of which form a short helix a and 15 to
33 form helix b . These two helices are connected by the RVD loop that contains residue 12, usually a
His or Asn, that stabilizes the local conformation of RVD loop and residue 13 that recognizes a DNA
base. In dHax3, residue 14 is shown to be a conserved Glycine. Helices a and b stack together using
Van der Waals interactions. Interestingly, the pitch of dHax3 in DNA free form is 60A but goes down
to 35A when bound to the DNA but maintains 11 repeat domains per helical turn. This compression of
TALEs is attributed to the conformational plasticity of residues 23 to 34 of the repeat domains. The
inner region of the repeat domains is electrostatically positively charged with residues like Lys 16 and
Gln 17 on helix b , which can hydrogen bond with the negatively charged phosphate groups of the
DNA. The hypervariable di residues HD recognize base C , NS recognize base A and NG recognize
base T . In the case of NGà T recognition, glycine at position 13 helps accommodate the 5 methyl

Italian Immigrants in America Essay
Italian Immigrants in America
Ever since the United States was founded, immigrants have been arriving on its soil. The first white
inhabitants of the U.S. were immigrants from Europe. They came for many reasons, such as religion
and opportunity. As the country grew and became more prosperous, it became more enticing to
foreigners looking for opportunity. This continued into the 20th century and finally during the 1920 s,
the United States began to restrict immigrants from coming to their country, mostly for cultural and
economic reasons. Even the immigrants that were allowed in during the 20 s faced many hardships
such as religious persecution, racism, and xenia phobia. One of the major groups of immigrants during

The old stock Americans weren t used to the immigrants and for this reason they thought less of them
and oppressed them. The Italians and other immigrants were blamed for many of the nations
problems. For example, the government led raids on immigrants houses because they feared the
immigrants were communists. This was evidenced in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, when two Italian
immigrants were convicted for murder and the prosecution had no real substantial evidence. They
were convicted mainly because of their beliefs, not their actions. Religious beliefs also brought the
immigrants problems. The KKK was openly anti Catholic and most of the Italians were catholic. The
immigrants and Italians also helped to bring on prohibition. The Americans didn t approve of their
drinking habits; therefore the prohibition amendment was made for this and other reasons. Job
competition was also a major reason for the racist feelings of the Americans. Native white workers
saw the immigrants as competitors for the jobs that they felt they should have. A good example of this
competition was birds of passage. These were Italian workers who came to work in the U.S. but later
returned to Italy with the money they earned in the U.S. From 1899 1924 3.8 million Italians came to
the United States, but 2.1 million left to return to Italy during the same

Figurative Language In Goblin Market
Goblin Market is a narrative unlike other poems. The two sisters, Laura and Lizzie, were narrating the
story to their children. And since this poem is a narrative, it is a very long poem; it contains twenty
eight stanzas and one hundred and thirty nine lines. But like most poems, Goblin Market has unique
structure, language, themes, symbols, and figurative language. The structure and style of this narrative
is extravagant. The rhyme is one factor that contributes to the uniqueness of the style of the poem.

For example, it is used to describe Lizzie s positive actions to show the importance of them. Simile is
one of the most used types of figurative languages in this poem. Like a lily in a flood. (Rossetti, 409)
this quote is inferring that a beauty and innocence is being surrounded and devoured by an evil or
horror of the goblins. Like a beacon left alone in a hoary roaring sea. (Rossetti, 412 413) In these
lines, the setting of the passage was very dangerous like the waves in the ocean, but she was still left
unharmed despite the violence and danger. Like a rock of blue veined stone lashed by tides
obstreperously. (Rossetti, 410 411) The imagery in this poem gives true and detailed insight on the
character of Laura, and shows how important strength and innocence develops in the passage. Imagery
is used when goblins furiously attack Lizzie. Close beleaguered by a fleet mad to tug her standard
down (Rossetti, 420 421) and royal virgin town (Rossetti, 418) are two great examples and uses of
imagery. In these two lines, an image of Lizzie defending her home of sorts against an attack, and she

Integration Of Ann Based Proxy Model
Integration of ANN based Proxy model in EnKF Framework After development of an accurate proxy
model based on ANN, the next task is to combine it with existing EnKF framework for assisted
history matching. Permeability realizations are represented in terms of eigenvalues and corresponding
eigen functions along with random variables using KL expansion as described in section 2.2. Once the
eigenvalues and their corresponding eigen functions are determined after truncating terms in KL
expansion, a realization can be generated with a certain number of values ξ_i from the standard
Gaussian distribution N(0,1) using Eqn. (13). Each vector of random variable represents a
permeability realization. These random variable vectors are used as input parameters for development
of the proxy models. General workflow for development of the proxy models has been shown in Fig.4.
A detailed explanation for proxy model generation will be provided in further section using a real field
case study of SAGD reservoir. The proxy models are then used in forecast step of EnKF. EnKF
workflow starts from construction of a state vector shown in Eqn. (2). In KL ANN EnKF approach,
state vector consists of random variables as model parameters representing the permeability field
along with production parameters. In forecast step, reservoir simulator is replaced by the proposed
ANN proxy model and production parameters are estimated considering random variables as input
parameters. Output spread is

Radiology Research Paper

English 12A, Block: 7

Radiology Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses some forms of radiation (such as X rays or
MRI s) to diagnose and treat diseases ( Radiology ). Radiology has drastically changed the field of
medicine especially when MRI was discovered. MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging which
is a technique in which radio waves are used to process detailed pictures of your organs and tissues
within the body ( MRI ). MRI s have changed the field of Radiology due to the discovering s of
Raymond Vahan Damadian and made a lasting global impact on the field of medicine in general. The
invention of the MRI did not only impact a generation but it impacted the medical world as a whole. I
believe that this advancement in technology improved not only the quality of service provided by
physicians but gave them a new perspective and a broader range of ways to treat patients. The MRI

Raymond Vahan Damadian found that different kinds of animal tissues emit different signals ( The
Invention of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). ). At the age of 16 Damadian went to the
University of Wisconsin and studied mathematics, later on he decided to go to medical school because
he believed it would be better than just having a traditional science education ( How Products Are
Made. ). After he was done with his doctoral education Damadian was investigating sodium and
potassium on living cells he was able to borrow an NMR(Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) machine,
During this research he asked a crucial question How would the nuclear signal change between normal
cells and regular cells( How Products Are Made. )? During the research he was doing on different cells
he found that cells with cancer or other major diseases emit different signals than regular

Huck Finn Religious Hypocrisy Analysis
In the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain uses satire to exemplify human weakness.
Throughout the whole adventure, and even before departing from St. Petersburg, Huck comes face to
face with a variety of people meant to deride the American person. Religious hypocrisy and its
representation in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn establish one of Mark Twain s greatest allegations
with the American civilization. A prominent example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the Watson
sisters, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Very quickly Huck observes that each sister represents a
different version of the good place. Both sisters ardently try to civilize Huck and teach him good
religious values. Huck tells the reader that, Sometimes the widow would take me one side and talk
about Providence in a way to make a body s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huck is able to observe this because religious hypocrisy around him is increasing as does his
awareness of it. He is describing how he gets two different viewpoints of heaven from each sister, and
it confuses him. Huck is not able to truly learn about the greatness of heaven and Christianity because
the sisters contradict and that is not something he wants to follow. Huck quickly decides both places
seem undesirable to him. This quote about the sisters shows Twain s distaste for the hypocritical
religious people during this time. He demonstrated people contradicting themselves, as well as saying
one thing and then doing another. Another example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the feuding
families. The Grangerfords and Sheperdsons have been in a feud for 30 years, and cannot even
remembered why it started. The hypocrisy here is seen in the faithfulness of local congregations. Huck
states that, [T]he men took their guns between their knees while they were attending church listening
to sermons on brotherly love (Twain 114). This again causes damage to Huck s outlook on religion.
These two families

Literary Devices In W. H. Auden s Clocks And Lovers
Timely Indulgence Often, love stories have two if not more sides. Both sides of this story can be seen
in W.H. Auden s poem Clocks and Lovers, in which each side has a different attitude. The attitudes of
the clocks differs greatly from that of the lover, with opposite points of view. By using literary
devices, the poet emphasizes both perspectives as they relate to separate groups of people and are
shown simply through analysis of the poem. While the lover overzealously believes his love can
transcend time, the clocks counter by stating that time s relentlessness erodes all. The overzealous
beliefs brought about by love can be seen in the attitude of the lover, who acts as though his love will
never die and can never be changed by time. When speaking to his lover, he says I ll love you, dear, I
ll love you / Till China and Africa meet / And the river jumps over the mountain / And the salmon sing
in the street. The last three lines of this stanza are hyperboles, allowing the lover more emphasis on
how his love will die only when the impossible happens; therefore, he believes it is impossible for his
love to die. In this stanza, imagery is the upfront literary device as is seen when Auden uses strong
phrases such as salmon sing and river jumps , creating an image of the impossible occurring to add to
the unrealistic attitude of the lover. The lover continues to describe impossible events when he says I ll
love you till the ocean / Is folded up and hung up to

Narrative Essay About Becoming A Family
Becoming a Family It was the first day of high school, a new school, and a new town. The only class I
was looking forward to was band. I knew band was the same no matter where I was. Little did I know
that I was not just joining a band I was joining a family.
The first couple of days I got to know a lot of my classmates, started making friends, and really got to
know my director. Most of the kids had him since they were in grade school, so I was out of the loop
with current events in his life. After the first month or so I found out that his wife had had cancer and
she had just been diagnosed with it again. So just as every high school band, the first semester was
marching band. With marching band, you have competitions. It was not long before we were all on
board helping him through this rough time. At the first competition we all had pinned white cancer
ribbons on our uniforms before we get on the field. I remember looking at him when he saw us and
just him tearing up and telling us how much he loved us. So, we decided on red hearts to be sown on
the uniforms permanently. I also remember before a home football game we had a prayer circle for
them because it had gotten worse, and little did we know one of the moms had taken a video of us and
sent it to him. After that he knew that he could lean on all of us to help him.
A couple months after marching band and Christmas was over, she passed away. It was hard for all of
us because we all loved and cared about him, and we

Father Figures In All Quiet On The Western Front
In All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, a group of boys are pressured into
joining the army during World War I. Each of the boys come from different places but while fighting
in the war, they learn to come together as one. The soldiers teach each other new strategies and learn
to work together when facing challenges. One by one, the boys die in significant ways until no one is
left. Kat gets injured in his leg but dies from a splinter in his head because Remarque wants to show
that a father figure benefits the other soldiers and that in order to fight in a war, soldiers must prepare
for the unexpected. Having a father figure in the war benefits the other soldiers because it gives them
someone to look up too. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kat injures himself in the leg but dies from a splinter in his head to show that something unexpected is
bound to happen. Injuries are inevitable when fighting in a war. During World War I, if a soldier is
injured, there was a high chance that he/she would get the anaerobes that cause tetanus and gangrene
because there was a scarce amount of supplies and by the time a doctor would try to heal the injury, it
was possible that the soldier could already be dead or it would be to late to do anything (Schlager and
Lauer). Kat gets injured in the leg, but due to the fact that they were in the middle of a storm with the
hail of splinters [whipping] forth the child like cries of the wounded , the chance of a splinter being
caught in their skin was very possible (Remarque 286). Since Paul occupies himself with treating Kat
s leg wound, he does not realize the splinter in Kat s head. The splinter in Kat s head only becomes
obvious when Paul [rubs Kat s] temples with some tea and looks down at his hands to see that they
were bloody (Remarque 290). Over eight million men were killed throughout World War one with
about 5,600 soldiers killed per day (Pendergast, Slovey, and Pendergast 198 210), making the medical
field aware that health [became] a national concern (Schlager and Lauer). Preparing for the
unexpected is essential during war because anything can happen. One little hole from a splinter causes
Kat to die, leaving Paul as

Similarities Between The Giver And Jonas
Ned, from Code Talker and Jonas from The Giver, are two unique characters. Although they lived in
hugely different societies there many similarities can be drawn between the two. There are obvious
differences between Ned and Jonas. For example, Ned and Jonas lived in completely different
societies with extremely different cultures. Jonas home was very orderly and peaceful, whereas Ned s
gave free will and was experiencing a time of war. Ned could decide what he wanted for his future,
but Jonas had his future chosen for him. There is also a significant difference in the age of the
characters, with Ned being 16 for most of the book and Jonas being around 12. Another very different
cultural aspect of their lives was how their history and ancestry ... Show more content on

Because Ned was a Navajo, he was always looked down upon by white people, even though he was a
Marine. The day Ned returned to America, he went to a bar to get a Coke, but was thrown out military
uniform and all because he was Navajo. After Jonas was chosen to be the next Receiver of Memories,
he was always treated with respect and was even given special privileges. Although there are many
differences between Ned and Jonas, some of what they experienced is alike. Ned and Jonas both went
experienced wartime, just in different ways. On page number 119 of The Giver, Jonas receives a
memory of the aftermath of a battle in a war before his time. Ned traveled all over the Pacific going
from battle to battle fighting alongside other Marines.
The two characters are also similar in that they both have unique abilities. Both Ned and Jonas had
traits that set them apart from the rest of their world. Jonas had the ability to see beyond that
distinguished him from the community. Ned was a part of the Navajo tribe and could speak the Navajo
language. Jonas used his gift to enlighted the rest of the community about the past, and Ned used his

Sacrifice In Crime And Punishment By Raskolnikov
Sacrifice is the act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do
something else or to help someone. The novel Crime and Punishment expressed the hardships of the
characters to obtain money at the time. Everyone was poor and had to give up valuables in order to
receive grace on their rent payments from Alyona Ivanovna, the landlady. It was a constant struggle
for Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, who occupied the housing development of Alyona. Raskolnikov
had difficulty making ends meet and others complained about Alyona s unfair behaviors. He believed
in he would sacrifice his freedom and murder Alyona, it would save others whom have dealt with the

and can I, can I possibly....No, it s nonsense, it s rubbish! he added resolutely. And how could such an
atrocious thing come into my head? What filthy things my heart is capable of. (P1, Ch1) Even his own
thoughts of the murder disgusted him. Raskolnikov can not even comprehend his urgency to kill yet
he continues to plot Alyona s death meticulously. Almost from the first, while he read the letter,
Raskolnikov s face was wet with tears; but when he finished it, his face was pale and distorted and a
bitter, wrathful and malignant smile was on his lips. (P1, Ch3) Although Raskolnikov has a hatred for
his small flat and how disgusting his living conditions are, he enjoys his bitter isolation. After he
receives a letter from his mother, Pulcheria Alexandrovna, and sister, Avdotya Romanovna (Dounia),
his anxiety levels rise. Raskolnikov has still not paid his rent to his new landlady, Praskovya Pavlovna,
and yet his family sends him prayers of good will. This idea of a religious merry message makes him
cringe for he knows he has sinned. His emotions are distorted and can not be changed, for the murder
has maliciously embalmed his very thoughts of what is right and

Mental Health And Its Effects
Into today s society mental health has become something that is becoming more known to individuals.
Mental health is something that is as serious as a physical illness but it is still feared and
misunderstood by many people including those who are diagnosed with mental illness. There are
many forms of mental illness that include; anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, eating
disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and phobias and panic disorders. Many individuals with
mental health seek help from doctors and are usually prescribed different medications. Dealing with a
mental health issue is hard enough as it is because many people misunderstand them and they carry a
stigma with the mental illness that needs to be overcome by the individual. For those newly diagnosed
medications are given to help improve the psychosis, hallucinations and major depressive disorder
with great success, but for many the medication that is given has a side effect that makes the patient
gain large amounts of weight throughout treatment. Not only are you dealing with stress from being
diagnosed with a mental illness and learning to cope but now you are also given the stress of caring
extra weight around and having people judge you because of your weight gain not knowing what
exactly is going on with you and your body both mentally and physically. This paper is going to focus
on research done involving the beginning use of atypical medications and their side effects including

What Does The Eye Of The Storm Mean
Studs Terkel (1980) relates C. P. Ellis story about how his experiences organizing a union opened his
eyes about how corporations treat minorities, and resulted in a new understanding of the people
around him even though he was a former Klansman. I have never been in the Klan or organized a
union, but a similar turning point for me came for me when I saw the movie The Eye of the Storm,
about Jane Elliot s experiment with white schoolchildren in Riceville, Iowa. This experiment
demonstrated to me how children respond to cultural cues first from their parents and family
members, but then through the institutions they are forced to participate in like school; the church;
other families and supervisory agencies. If even white children can be taught to discriminate against
other white children on something as arbitrary and insubstantial as eye color, then how easy it must be
to train them to respond in denigrating ways to people with different skin color, body shapes or
language for example, I realized. This changed my perspective on racism and ethnicity and while I
have since done much research and believe education is the secret, the way I have decided to
implement change in my own life, is to speak out when I hear someone making a denigrating
comment.
This goes back to what I learned from The Eye of the Storm, where if people accept certain behaviors
as normal, as the children in Ms. Elliot s class were trained to do, then they become so reinforced as to
turn into norms

  • 2. The Relationship Between Google And Our Individual Right Summary: Following will be the analysis of the relationship between Google and our individual right to privacy. Google is constantly gathering personal information about people when they use various Google products. The extent Google is involved in our lives, as well as the methods used to gather data on individuals, is not known by most people. This report is going to take a brief look into whether Google s practices are ethical as well as legal. Why this paper is of interest? This paper should be of interest to the reader because most people use at least one Google product on a daily basis, probably more. When you sign up for Google products, you are pretty much agreeing to give your personal information to Google. This paper is about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That issue is the collection and aggregation of the private personal information of its users. Google has a lot of talent and does a lot of things really well, and they collect data really well too. Google has this lust for information which is great, and they have their own methods for collecting and storing private information, which can also be great. However, Google was ranked to have the worst privacy policy out of all other major service providers by Privacy International. Google even opposed a subpoena because, [The] request for information threatened its trade secrets and image as a protector of user privacy (Tene). • 3. Music And Its Effect On People Essay There have always been significant uses of music in particular background situations to create desired effects on people. Retail stores use music to increase spending, employers use specific types of music to ease their employees, and doctors use soothing music to help relax their tense patients. Teachers come across numerous challenges within their classrooms when it comes to the distractions that students encounter. It may be behavior which is distracting, such as doing something not class related, or it may be behavior that is interruptive and intentionally disruptive. Not all students can come to school with a fresh start that allows them to be ready and willing to learn. Still, society expects educators to teach all students and for all students to learn in the same ways. Studies have shown that music can be an efficient tool for resolving some of these barricades of the learning process. When music is suitably used as a background enhancer, the student s ability to concentrate within the classroom setting increases. As the classroom setting has advanced and progressed over time, teachers now have an opportunity to enrich learning further than before. There are various approaches a teacher can positively use to affect the productivity, behavior, and motivation of students. One of the specific strategies now commonly used to boost student learning is the use of background music. Background music is not actively or purposely listened to, but intended to be heard. ... • 4. What Is The Chinese Parenting Style In The Roar Of The... Title Every parent always wants what is best for their children. But what is the best way to go about this? There are so many ways one can go and never know if you are right or are doing the right thing. You might believe you are doing what is best for your child or children, but other parents don t see that so it can be conflicting at times. In the essay, The Roar of the Tiger Mom Amy Chua explains with great detail, the many differences between Chinese mothers and western parents have in the upbringing of their children trying to prepare them for the real world. Amy Chua puts in her own insight of Chinese mothers trying to justify the Chinese parenting style, however, many western parents would defy Chinese parenting style . Amy Chua formed a list of the things she would never allow her children to do. These things may seem like the normal thing for some, but seem completely bizarre for others. Chua does not allow her children to: Attend a sleepover, have a playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school play, watch TV or play computer games, choose their own extracurricular activities, get any grade less than an A, not to be number 1 student in every subject except gym and drama, play any instrument other than the piano or violin, not play the piano or violin (Chua 305). These are just a few of the many things that Amy Chua and Chinese mothers forbid their children from doing. Many Chinese mothers would most likely agree with these few basic ... • 5. Analysis Of What s That Smell In The Kitchen What s That Smell in the Kitchen? Marge Piercy s What s That Smell in the Kitchen is a poem that expresses through descriptive language the difficulty of women s lives. By making What s That Smell in the Kitchen simple, Piercy uses repetition, imagery, and similes to portray women s lives. First, Piercy uses repetition to make the readers reminded. Women (Lines 1 and 7) show how it is more than one women working hard. Her (Lines 9, 12, 14, and 18) points out an individual women s possessions such as feelings or food. She (Lines 13, 15, and 20) is also representing an individual women, but instead it is giving off her actions. Piercy using repetition of women, her, and she specify only women have hard lives. • 6. Research Paper On Andrew Jackson And The Battle Of New... Andrew Jackson and The Battle of New Orleans Andrew Jackson is widely known for his time as our seventh president, however, he started off as a general and led the famous Battle of New Orleans. The war started when American ships were targeted for search and attack by the British Navy. The United States were outnumbered, yet in the end, we still reigned victorious. By uniting Americans, Native Americans, and the Baratarian pirates the British were defeated and the treaty of Ghent was signed and made official, ending the war of 1812. The War of 1812 (Conflict) The war of 1812 started for many reasons, however, one of the main reasons was British navy stopping and searching American ships for former British sailors who abandoned their ships and forcing people to fight for them. Another reason for the war s start was because motivation of the war hawks of the US congress to go to war with great Britain was their need to totally expel Great Britain from the remaining land still under British domain on the North American Peninsula, (Tim Nash). This need to push Britain out of the North American peninsula helped the USA grow to be what it is today. As the war heated, America grew its army to include not only Americans, but also had the Baratarian pirates and some Native American tribes, though most sided with the British hoping for independence. • 7. Moonlight Chiron Character Analysis At the end of the movie Moonlight , Chiron became a better version of himself, because he started as someone who was weak and became someone who can fend for themselves. This could be observed by taking a comparison of Chiron in the beginning of the film where he is scared and lonely, and Chiron near the end of the film in Act 3 where he becomes hardened by the obstacles that life had thrown at him, and is able to reconcile with the people whom he cared about, after they had been a part of the obstacles of his life. The fact that Chiron was able to become a new, stronger person in the face of his adversaries is how he became a better version of themselves. Another observation could be made in Act 2, where Chiron gets bullied by Tyrell who pressured Kevin to play the game which involved hitting Chiron to the ground multiple times. After Chiron had experienced this, he sought out to exact revenge by smashing a chair on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Act 3, Chiron reconciles with his mother, as well as Kevin. Before this, in Act 2, both his mother and Kevin had become people who opposed Chiron and tore him down. Being able to reconcile with the people who had thrown him aside shows that he would be able to see a different perspective, one where he could see that they were pressured to do such things against him, which is an improvement to his mentality when facing the obstacles he is presented with. When someone is a better person, then they have faced their obstacles in life and succeeded in pushing through them. I know this because becoming a better person is subjective, but there is always one thing that happens when someone improves themselves, which is the fact that they are no longer in a struggle with the past, and are able to keep themselves up with their own strength that they have improved themselves ... • 8. Team Work Essay Introduction Teamwork is essential to the smooth running of many projects, organisations and companies. Much research has been conducted into the effectiveness of teams and their contributions to organisational success. This essay considers one particular team consisting of two student nurses (members A and B) and 4 student radiographers (members C, D, E, and F), all 3rd year degree level, whose task was to produce a poster for assessment over a one week period. Theory and models of teamwork will be used to discuss all aspects of this team including team roles, communication, conflict and decision making. Conclusions will then be drawn as to how the team could have been more effective in their completion of the task. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research has shown that teamwork increases efficiency (Thylefors et al, 2005 in Newson, 2006). A team can pool knowledge and skills and, if well motivated, create energy increasing a team s efficiency beyond that of the individuals. Modern views on teamwork also consider the satisfaction of the workforce by becoming more autonomous and reducing hierarchical structures (Ovretveit et al, 1997). 5 Team Development The most commonly used model to discuss team development is Tuckman s (1965) (in Huczynski Buchanan, 2001) forming, storming, norming and performing model. However, the team concerned more closely followed the Cog s ladder model (see appendix 1. for full description) (Walton, 1984). 1. Polite stage (day 1) The initial introductions of the team members took place during a coffee break, however, the task was not clearly discussed at this stage and so roles were not yet defined. The members worked at a distance from each other to complete a treasure hunt task. 2. Why are we here? (day 2) The goals were established and two subgroups (student nurses, A and B and student radiographers, C, D, E and F) emerged. 3. Bid for power (day 2/3) Conflict and rivalry within the group prevailed. At this stage two members of the group, A and C, became identifiable as leaders. 4. Constructive phase (day 3/4) The team did eventually reach this stage with activities being divided amongst members and all members participating.

Symbolism Of Sleep In Macbeth In the Bible it says, Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put a person asleep, an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty . God speaks about the harm of killing the innocent and the people asleep. In the play, Macbeth, by William Shakespeare uses this idea of sleep symbolizing the innocence and when provoked will lead to the eternal sleep of honest people, the madness upon the guilty, and the death of innocence. The protagonist, Macbeth, challenges god s testament and does wicked actions which reel in the sleep theme. Firstly, Macbeth provokes the symbol of sleep which is a gift of god by leading honest people into eternal sleep, death. Macbeth s actions reflect his character as vile perpetrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macbeth hears cries that continuously haunt his life. It cries, Sleep no more to all the house; Glamis hath murdered sleep; and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more (II, ii, l.44). This quote interconnects with the sleep theme because Glamis and Cawdor are both Macbeth s roles prior to being king and that now that Macbeth has killed a person in their sleep, he shall never sleep. This idea shows the main point of madness if you don t go to sleep you will be tired and start feeling mad and ill tempered. Another example would be Lady Macbeth doing strange things in her sleep. Her servants say, I have seen her rise from her bed, throw her night gown upon her...the benefit of sleep, and do the effects of watching (V, i, l. 3 7). This shows the madness of Lady Macbeth who helped Macbeth murder King Duncan which makes her guilty was in the bubble in her mind that she is doing everything awake but she is doing it in her sleep. This madness is led by the guilt of killing the innocence and depriving them of their peaceful sleep. Macbeth s power influences madness, eternal sleep and death of ... This eulogy was given in the middle of the war during a state celebration where the population gathered to commemorate those who defended Athens. However, Pericles also used his speech as an opportunity to honor the military and to inspire other citizens to fill the remaining vacancies in the army. While the men would be honored and buried together, their real graves live on in the minds of those living in Athens. Not only will their loved ones remember them, but future soldiers will use them as inspiration to keep fighting in the war. Similarly, Pericles calls for the remaining citizens to grieve for their loved ones, but also to consider making new children that will continue to fight for the Athenian legacy. Pericles explains, In your own homes these new children will prevent you from brooding over those who are no more, and they will be a help to the city, too, both in filling the empty places, and in assuring her security (77). The new boogeyman that has swept across the nation and the world is called, Slenderman. He is an unusually tall and slender man dressed in a nice suit. He doesn t seem scary at first until you see his, well, lack of a face. Even then, he doesn t seem that scary until you hear the stories. Slenderman stalks and psychologically torments his victims (who are usually children) for long periods of time until he takes his victim in his long tentacles, which grow from his shoulder blades, and he drags them to another dimension where he consumes them ( Slender Man The Wiki). For those who look further into it, evidence disproving all of this is easily found. If someone were to look up the true origin of Slenderman, it is clearly stated that it is a fictional character created for a photo contest. After the attempted murder of the Wisconsin girl, Something Awful even created an article (as blunt and unfeeling as it may be) telling people where Slenderman originates from and pleading with people to not be stupid and kill in Slenderman s name (Parsons). Using the baloney detection kit (or any form of common sense for that matter), any evidence that Slenderman is real, is unsubstantial, as it is. Richard III Context Shakespeare s 16th century play, Richard III , is a literary interaction of characters and events which reflects the Elizabethan social, political and historical context, whilst simultaneously exploring several universal themes portrayed by Shakespeare. Through the interplay between the context, text and themes, Richard III s relevance is ongoing even to a 21st century audience. Shakespeare s conformity to the Tudor myth consequently influences the characterisation of Richard as a deformed and villainous noble versus Richmond as a divine restorer, in order for his audience to quickly despite Richard and accept Richmond as a deserving king. This also allows for Shakespeare s critique on what is considered human and inhuman. Shakespeare also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard is portrayed to manipulate other characters within the play, which conveys his Machiavellian ethics. This duplicitous nature is highlighted to the audience in the opening soliloquy, as he states I am determined to prove a villain and after his wooing of Lady Anne, as states in his aside to the audience, I ll have her, but I will not keep her long, which is indicative of his true, evil motives. Thus, his usurpation of the throne is portrayed as a major disruption to the Elizabethan Chain of Being. Therefore, as a result of Richard s disruption, it requires the divine intervention of God and other supernatural beings. This divine intervention is foreshadowed to the Elizabethan audience through Queen Margaret s curse on Richard, as she states, A murderous villain, and so still art thou. Which God revenge! God s divine intervention is also evident through the appearance of ghosts of characters who were slain by Richard. They repetitively curse him, saying, Despair, and die. The presence of ghosts within the play convey a sense of distortion between the physical and supernatural world as a result of Richard s disturbance to the Chain of Being. Essay On Implication Of JK-STAT Implications of JAK STAT in disease So far, we have seen that this pathway is accountable for the transduction of extracellular stimulus into transcriptional factors that regulate several cellular functions. STATs are also known to exert additional functions such as affecting oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, regulating chromatin compliance and epigenetic markings in the nucleus and interacting with the microtubule components in the cytoplasm which are responsible for cellular motility (4). STATs contribute significantly to cellular fate decisions of differentiating naïve T cells into regulatory and inflammatory T cells, lymphocyte development, and exercise control over the intensity and duration of inflammatory responses. STAT3 particularly is involved in the regulation of cell death, cell growth and in the transcription of inflammatory genes. This serves as the basis for its contribution to the development of chronic inflammatory diseases and neurodegenerative diseases (8). This pathway has been associated with several monogenic diseases like the bubble boy syndrome (X linked severe combined immunodeficiency). The extreme susceptibility to pathogens observed is caused by a lack of T and NK cells, which occurs due to loss of function variants of the common γ chain signal transduction. A subset of SCID patients demonstrated mutations in Jak3 kinase specifying the non redundant in vivo functions for any JAK/STAT component (9). After the initial discovery of JAK3 SCID, many Mendelian disorders were reported. Discoveries made in the past three decades help us to correlate loss of function STAT mutations with specific types of pathogens. STAT1 mutations make patients vulnerable to viral and mycobacterial infections, whereas patients having STAT2 mutations are prone to viral infections and fungal infections are most common in patients with STAT3 mutations (2). On the part of the Moors, the horseshoes shaped arch that is prominent in many mosques and palaces is adopted from Visigothic arches of a similar nature. During these moments how the nurse chooses to act and portray him or herself will have a significant impact on the caring moment as well as future caring moments in relation to the treatment outcomes (Alligood, 2008). Dr. Watson s goals when creating her theory, correlated with the mental spiritual growth for self and others, finding meaning in one s own existence and experiences, discovering inner power and control, and potentiating instances of transcendence and self healing (Watson,2007). The theory also is unique in that the change required to resolve the health issues does not include technology, medication, physicians, or nurses the true agent of change is the patient experiencing a well balanced mind, body, and soul. Unraveling DNA Essay Unraveling the molecular mechanism of DNA binding by Transcription activator like effectors Sequence specific DNA targeting of nucleases, recombinases and transcriptional activators is a powerful tool to manipulate the sequence or regulate the expression of the gene of interest. While Zinc fingers specific to DNA trinucleotides, coupled to different effector domains have been employed for targeted manipulation of the genome with considerable success, we are limited by the off target toxicity caused by trinucleotide specific zinc fingers. Recently, it has been shown that Xanthomonas secreted virulence factors called transcription activator like effectors (TALEs), which contain 1.5 to 33.5 tandem repeats bind sequence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the crystal structure presented by Deng et al., the central region of an engineered TALE dHax3 shows a super helical assembly with an external diameter of 60A and a pitch also of 60A with 11 repeat domains per helical turn. This structure strongly suggests that dHax3 wraps around the DNA helix. Each repeat of dHax3 consists of 34 amino acids, 3 to 11 of which form a short helix a and 15 to 33 form helix b . These two helices are connected by the RVD loop that contains residue 12, usually a His or Asn, that stabilizes the local conformation of RVD loop and residue 13 that recognizes a DNA base. In dHax3, residue 14 is shown to be a conserved Glycine. Helices a and b stack together using Van der Waals interactions. Interestingly, the pitch of dHax3 in DNA free form is 60A but goes down to 35A when bound to the DNA but maintains 11 repeat domains per helical turn. This compression of TALEs is attributed to the conformational plasticity of residues 23 to 34 of the repeat domains. The inner region of the repeat domains is electrostatically positively charged with residues like Lys 16 and Gln 17 on helix b , which can hydrogen bond with the negatively charged phosphate groups of the DNA. The hypervariable di residues HD recognize base C , NS recognize base A and NG recognize base T . In the case of NGà T recognition, glycine at position 13 helps accommodate the 5 methyl ... • 41. Italian Immigrants in America Essay Italian Immigrants in America Ever since the United States was founded, immigrants have been arriving on its soil. The first white inhabitants of the U.S. were immigrants from Europe. They came for many reasons, such as religion and opportunity. As the country grew and became more prosperous, it became more enticing to foreigners looking for opportunity. This continued into the 20th century and finally during the 1920 s, the United States began to restrict immigrants from coming to their country, mostly for cultural and economic reasons. Even the immigrants that were allowed in during the 20 s faced many hardships such as religious persecution, racism, and xenia phobia. One of the major groups of immigrants during that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The old stock Americans weren t used to the immigrants and for this reason they thought less of them and oppressed them. The Italians and other immigrants were blamed for many of the nations problems. For example, the government led raids on immigrants houses because they feared the immigrants were communists. This was evidenced in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, when two Italian immigrants were convicted for murder and the prosecution had no real substantial evidence. They were convicted mainly because of their beliefs, not their actions. Religious beliefs also brought the immigrants problems. The KKK was openly anti Catholic and most of the Italians were catholic. The immigrants and Italians also helped to bring on prohibition. The Americans didn t approve of their drinking habits; therefore the prohibition amendment was made for this and other reasons. Job competition was also a major reason for the racist feelings of the Americans. Native white workers saw the immigrants as competitors for the jobs that they felt they should have. A good example of this competition was birds of passage. These were Italian workers who came to work in the U.S. but later returned to Italy with the money they earned in the U.S. From 1899 1924 3.8 million Italians came to the United States, but 2.1 million left to return to Italy during the same ... • 42. Figurative Language In Goblin Market Goblin Market is a narrative unlike other poems. The two sisters, Laura and Lizzie, were narrating the story to their children. And since this poem is a narrative, it is a very long poem; it contains twenty eight stanzas and one hundred and thirty nine lines. But like most poems, Goblin Market has unique structure, language, themes, symbols, and figurative language. The structure and style of this narrative is extravagant. The rhyme is one factor that contributes to the uniqueness of the style of the poem. Christina Rossetti provides very vivid details, from the smallest to largest things. She describes the fruit and the goblins, from the color and shape of each fruit to the looks and personality of each of the goblins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Rossetti, 409) this quote is inferring that a beauty and innocence is being surrounded and devoured by an evil or horror of the goblins. Like a beacon left alone in a hoary roaring sea. (Rossetti, 412 413) In these lines, the setting of the passage was very dangerous like the waves in the ocean, but she was still left unharmed despite the violence and danger. Like a rock of blue veined stone lashed by tides obstreperously. (Rossetti, 410 411) The imagery in this poem gives true and detailed insight on the character of Laura, and shows how important strength and innocence develops in the passage. Imagery is used when goblins furiously attack Lizzie. Close beleaguered by a fleet mad to tug her standard down (Rossetti, 420 421) and royal virgin town (Rossetti, 418) are two great examples and uses of imagery. • 43. Integration Of Ann Based Proxy Model Integration of ANN based Proxy model in EnKF Framework After development of an accurate proxy model based on ANN, the next task is to combine it with existing EnKF framework for assisted history matching. Permeability realizations are represented in terms of eigenvalues and corresponding eigen functions along with random variables using KL expansion as described in section 2.2. Once the eigenvalues and their corresponding eigen functions are determined after truncating terms in KL expansion, a realization can be generated with a certain number of values ξ_i from the standard Gaussian distribution N(0,1) using Eqn. (13). Each vector of random variable represents a permeability realization. These random variable vectors are used as input parameters for development of the proxy models. General workflow for development of the proxy models has been shown in Fig.4. A detailed explanation for proxy model generation will be provided in further section using a real field case study of SAGD reservoir. The proxy models are then used in forecast step of EnKF. EnKF workflow starts from construction of a state vector shown in Eqn. (2). In KL ANN EnKF approach, state vector consists of random variables as model parameters representing the permeability field along with production parameters. In forecast step, reservoir simulator is replaced by the proposed ANN proxy model and production parameters are estimated considering random variables as input parameters. Output spread is ... • 45. Huck Finn Religious Hypocrisy Analysis In the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain uses satire to exemplify human weakness. Throughout the whole adventure, and even before departing from St. Petersburg, Huck comes face to face with a variety of people meant to deride the American person. Religious hypocrisy and its representation in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn establish one of Mark Twain s greatest allegations with the American civilization. A prominent example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the Watson sisters, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Very quickly Huck observes that each sister represents a different version of the good place. Both sisters ardently try to civilize Huck and teach him good religious values. Huck is able to observe this because religious hypocrisy around him is increasing as does his awareness of it. He is describing how he gets two different viewpoints of heaven from each sister, and it confuses him. Huck is not able to truly learn about the greatness of heaven and Christianity because the sisters contradict and that is not something he wants to follow. Huck quickly decides both places seem undesirable to him. This quote about the sisters shows Twain s distaste for the hypocritical religious people during this time. He demonstrated people contradicting themselves, as well as saying one thing and then doing another. Another example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the feuding families. The Grangerfords and Sheperdsons have been in a feud for 30 years, and cannot even remembered why it started. The hypocrisy here is seen in the faithfulness of local congregations. Huck states that, [T]he men took their guns between their knees while they were attending church listening to sermons on brotherly love (Twain 114). This again causes damage to Huck s outlook on religion. These two families ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Literary Devices In W. H. Auden s Clocks And Lovers Timely Indulgence Often, love stories have two if not more sides. Both sides of this story can be seen in W.H. Auden s poem Clocks and Lovers, in which each side has a different attitude. The attitudes of the clocks differs greatly from that of the lover, with opposite points of view. By using literary devices, the poet emphasizes both perspectives as they relate to separate groups of people and are shown simply through analysis of the poem. While the lover overzealously believes his love can transcend time, the clocks counter by stating that time s relentlessness erodes all. The overzealous beliefs brought about by love can be seen in the attitude of the lover, who acts as though his love will never die and can never be changed by time. When speaking to his lover, he says I ll love you, dear, I ll love you / Till China and Africa meet / And the river jumps over the mountain / And the salmon sing in the street. The last three lines of this stanza are hyperboles, allowing the lover more emphasis on how his love will die only when the impossible happens; therefore, he believes it is impossible for his love to die. In this stanza, imagery is the upfront literary device as is seen when Auden uses strong phrases such as salmon sing and river jumps , creating an image of the impossible occurring to add to the unrealistic attitude of the lover. The lover continues to describe impossible events when he says I ll love you till the ocean / Is folded up and hung up to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first couple of days I got to know a lot of my classmates, started making friends, and really got to know my director. Most of the kids had him since they were in grade school, so I was out of the loop with current events in his life. After the first month or so I found out that his wife had had cancer and she had just been diagnosed with it again. So just as every high school band, the first semester was marching band. With marching band, you have competitions. It was not long before we were all on board helping him through this rough time. At the first competition we all had pinned white cancer ribbons on our uniforms before we get on the field. I remember looking at him when he saw us and just him tearing up and telling us how much he loved us. So, we decided on red hearts to be sown on the uniforms permanently. I also remember before a home football game we had a prayer circle for them because it had gotten worse, and little did we know one of the moms had taken a video of us and sent it to him. Ellis story about how his experiences organizing a union opened his eyes about how corporations treat minorities, and resulted in a new understanding of the people around him even though he was a former Klansman. I have never been in the Klan or organized a union, but a similar turning point for me came for me when I saw the movie The Eye of the Storm, about Jane Elliot s experiment with white schoolchildren in Riceville, Iowa. This experiment demonstrated to me how children respond to cultural cues first from their parents and family members, but then through the institutions they are forced to participate in like school; the church; other families and supervisory agencies. If even white children can be taught to discriminate against other white children on something as arbitrary and insubstantial as eye color, then how easy it must be to train them to respond in denigrating ways to people with different skin color, body shapes or language for example, I realized. This changed my perspective on racism and ethnicity and while I have since done much research and believe education is the secret, the way I have decided to implement change in my own life, is to speak out when I hear someone making a denigrating comment. This goes back to what I learned from The Eye of the Storm, where if people accept certain behaviors as normal, as the children in Ms. Elliot s class were trained to do, then they become so reinforced as to turn into norms ...
