The Treatment Of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer affects so many women around the world. Even with the technology and medicine we
have today to treat this deadly disease, the pain a patient experiences with breast cancer is still
relentless. Pain comes from either progression of the disease or a side effect from treatment. In this
article they talk about the role of the WHO s three step analgesic ladder and how the administration of
opioids for breast cancer patients experiencing pain effect ones psychological state and their quality of
life. Since many patients experience negative side effects from opioids, there becomes a need to
develop therapeutic modalities. Overall, the main purpose of the article was to focus on current
treatments that provide pain management for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, many of these ways are through pain medications called non opioid, weak opioid, and
strong opioid. As the opioid gets stronger the higher the chance of intolerable side effect can occur.
Side effects from different opioids are known to cause a decrease in the quality of life for a breast
cancer patient. How does one choose a medication to deal with pain at different levels? The WHO s
ladder for relief of cancer pain was developed for this reason. In short, if you have minimal pain you
will receive non opioids. Once the non opioids do not help and pain continues to increase, strong
opioids will be administered. It s a stepping ladder; each step in the progression of cancer has a certain
medication to deal with that stage of pain.
Because of the need for pharmacotherapy in breast cancer patients, the patient will undergo limitation.
The patient can experience nausea and vomiting, gastric disturbances, renal dysfunction are common,
as well as respiratory depression has been known to occur while on opioids. Patients need the
pharmacotherapy to deal with pain and kill their cancer, but those opioids really affect a person s
essence of life. Luckily, there are also non pharmacological therapies a patient can participate in.
Yoga, acupuncture and musical therapy are great examples of these.
In my opinion, the author didn t have a perspective in this article. The purpose of this article was to

Character Analysis Of Chuck Bass
The pilot episode introduces viewers to the series plot line and its primary characters. In the first
episode, Chuck appears as a privileged, woman obsessed teenager. In fact, referring to the show s
primary protagonist, Serena, he suggests, that level of perfection needs to be violated. Later, referring
to Blair Waldorf, he insists his friend, Nate Archibald, should tap that ass. Ultimately, Chuck only
views his female counterparts as sexual objects, not human beings. Throughout the first season, in
particular, Chuck is mostly characterized as three things: rich, mean, and sexually aggressive
(McNear, 2017). Furthermore, he rarely thinks, or cares, about consequences because he never
actually suffers any negative repercussions for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Misleadingly, Chuck guides Serena to the kitchen, where he orders the chef to make her a sandwich.
While in the kitchen, he suggests, if you re looking for a way to thank me I have a couple of ideas. He
then forces himself upon Serena despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. Chuck ignores her.
Fortunately, Serena hits Chuck and runs away, escaping his assault. The scene highlights a number of
serious concerns. First, Chuck knows Serena is drunk; therefore, she is unable to give true consent. So,
even if Serena had wanted Chuck to make a move, she lacked the clear capacity to do so, thus making
it a problematic sexual encounter. Second, as with many real life scenarios, Serena does not press
charges against her perpetrator. In fact, she tells no one of Chuck s assault. Since he suffers no
repercussions for his first offense, Chuck later assaults Jenny Humphrey at a party.
Jenny, like many freshmen, is willing to do almost anything to gain popularity. Chuck, on the other
hand, has power over Jenny because he is an upper classman with wealth. In the scene leading up to
his assault upon Jenny, he references the purity and freshness of freshmen, hinting at the allure of
Jenny s innocence. Chuck then uses his charm and social status to lure her in. Throughout the entire
encounter, Jenny is visibly uncomfortable. Noticing Jenny s behavior, Chuck hands her a flute of

Question 2
SN: 13026885
a) w= £62,500
U= √w
50% chance of medical problem
Costs of £4,900 We can derive this individual s expected wealth if we multiply the probability of each
outcome with the associated costs.
E(w) = 0.5 * £62,500 + 0.5 * (£62,500 £4,900)
E(w) = 0.5 * £62,500 + 0.5 * £57,600
E(w) = £60,050 To find out what level of utility will this individual s expected wealth yield, we simply
have to put the value of the E(w) in the utility equation. We know U= √w, so in our case U(E(w)) =
√(E(w)) U(E(w)) = √60,050  U(E(w)) ≈ 245.051 To compute this individual s expected utility, we
follow the exact same procedure as in point i), but this time for utility. So, we first ... Show more

Not only will he be willing to purchase insurance, but he may also want to pay above the actuarially
fair price, just to avoid additional expenses in case of sickness. The original risky gamble (in the
absence of insurance) would leave him with an expected utility of 245, as shown in point iii) this is the
minimum utility this individual is willing to go to. That is, he will be willing to pay an amount of
money that will leave him with a certain utility equal to the expected utility of the original gamble
245. This utility is associated with a wealth of 2452 = £60,025. So the maximum amount he is willing
to pay for insurance is £62,500 £60,025 = £2,475 . Anything above this price would leave him with a
certain utility lower than the expected one. This is illustrated in the graph, by the red arrow.

Moral Hazard: Moral hazard is one of the market failures that occurs mostly in insurance markets.
When consumers purchase insurance, and therefore, do not pay for the full price of health care health
care becomes relatively cheaper for them. Thus, consumers demand more health care than they would
do in the absence of insurance a phenomena regarded as moral hazard. It only occurs under the
assumption that the demand for some types of health care is elastic and therefore responsive to price
changes.
To illustrate this situation better we use the following example. An individual A faces a 20%
probability that he/she will have a car accident which

Black Acura Incident
On 3 26 2017 at about 0805 hrs I was west bound on E Main St at about Auburn Way when I noticed a
black Acura pass me east bound on E Main St. At the time, the vehicle had no front plate and it
appeared that it was occupied by several males. I remembered from the previous day (3 25 2017) that
Officer Feero had sent a BOLO out about a black 2003 Acura that was reported stolen from 402 16th
ST NE. Additionally, in the BOLO, Officer Feero noted that the Acura (WA/BAJ1409) had a KCCO

The firearm had no associated record.
All three suspects were advised of their Miranda Rights. Carlo declined to speak with police.
However, post Miranda Eydoel stated that he was the back seat passenger and that Carlo was the
driver of the vehicle. Additionally, Eydoel stated that he knew the vehicle was stolen.
Also Post Miranda, Sam stated that he knew the vehicle was stolen and that Carlo was the driver of
the vehicle. Furthermore, when questioned about the pistol that was found in the seat Sam was sitting

The Role Of Popular Music In The Infantilization Of Women
Music can help change lives, heal wounds, or unfortunately, create stigmas. We live in a world that
stigmatizes women on a daily basis, and the music industry plays no less of a significant role in
reinforcing some of those stigmas. One apparent stigma that the current music industry is promoting is
the infantilization of women. Infantilization is the act of treating an adult as a child, and thus denying
her or his maturity. Equating women with children, and treating them as if they are weak and
dependent is something we can clearly see in pop music. Whether it was through presenting women in
infantilized positions in music videos or using infantilizing terms in lyrics, pop music plays a big role
in shaping our inaccurate perception of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, I will present the results in graphs and tables and discuss them. I plan to split my discussion into
two parts parallel to the survey s parts. I predict that the participants would describe the women in the
infantilized song lyrics and music videos as childlike and dependent. If my prediction was true, I
would use the discussion parts to explain the powerfulness of music in shaping the perception of
women in our society. In my discussion, I will incorporate the findings of Huot s and Carlson s
research that go along with my predicted finding. I will also use the examples of the infantilization of
women in pop culture that are shown in The Codes of Gender; a documentary film, written and
directed by Sut Jhally, that focuses on the American s pop culture role in shaping the stereotypical
ideas about femininity and masculinity. Also in this section, I will discuss other effects that resulted
from the infantilization of women in music. I will use Alanna Vagianos s Huffington post article Drake
s Hotline Bling Just Got A Genius Feminist Makeover, to help me provide an example. In this article,
Vagianos presents the story of a 27 year old woman named Javetta Laster who was affected by the
infantilizing lyrics of the hit song Hotline Bling, and decided to rewrite the lyrics in a more accurate
way. One example of Laster s rewritten lyrics shows how the original one was presenting an
infantilized look of women; the original lyric says: Why you never alone? Why you always touching
road? Used to stay at home, be a good girl. You was in the zone, yeah, while Laster s edited feminist
version of the same lyric says: You used to stay at home and be someone I saw fitting into the
patriarchal expectations of women to be infantilized good girls which is some bizarre father/daughter
husband/wife dynamic left over from women being considered adult children property. Laster s

NL East
Only two teams have a real shot from this top heavy division whose bottom three teams are in the
process of rebuilding. The Mets have a major injury problem. Despite the fact that their rotation is
young and unquestionably talented, every single one of their starters has at some point been injured,
and there s no reason to think that the injury bug will stop feasting on its Big Apple this year. They are
co anchored by Noah Syndergaard and Jacob DeGrom, who are both budding stars. Matt Harvey was
horrendous last year before being put on the shelf for the entire second half with Thoracic Outlet

However, bear in mind that they are a big risk to miss the postseason altogether because of that pesky
injury bug.
The Nationals played strikingly well last year, albeit Bryce Harper having a down year. During the
offseason they acquired Joe Blanton, as well as hitters Adam Eaton, Matt Wieters, and Adam Lind to
retool an already adept lineup which consists of Daniel Murphy, whose average fell .001 short of
winning the batting title, 2015 NL MVP Bryce Harper, reigning comeback player of the year Anthony
Rendon, and up and coming star Trea Turner. Eaton is a big league outfielder with a high OBP, and
Wieters will start at catcher, but his production is bound to peter off because he s on the tail end of his
career. Lind is a washed up former American League DH trying to make it in the NL; however,
Blanton should be a humungo asset in coagulating a bullpen which lacks a true closer. Jayson Werth
and Ryan Zimmerman are both injury prone but are marvelous when on the field. The Nats rotation is
exemplary, anchored by Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, and Tanner Roark. Scherzer and Roark
were top notch last year, with both finishing with a sub 3.00 ERA, but Roark is a massive regression
candidate as his stats last year were thoroughly unanticipated and likely fortuitous. Strasburg is one of

Lapham Peak Essay
This past weekend I was able to visit a beautiful treasure hidden in the Kettle Moraine State Forest,
Lapham Peak. Lapham peak is conveniently only about twenty minutes from our school and packed
full of educational benefits. Between the topography, wildlife diversity, history, and culture preserved
at Lapham Peak, many cross curricular standards could be addressed in a short visit to Lapham Peak.
The first example of both historical, scientific and cultural resources would be the Hausmann Nature
Center. This small building included the history of the park, the history of Increase A. Lapham (a
naturalist and the park s namesake), a history of Native American s presence in this area and proof of a
variety of wildlife that make their home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secluded in a fenced off floral area, the butterflies can live peacefully, with only a few interruptions
from visiting park guests viewing them from afar. This small gem inside of Lapham peak shows a
wonderful example of wildlife diversity. Another part of the park that has a great cultural benefit is the
Summer Stage. Here the park hosts plays, acting camps and more. In this beautiful outdoor theater,
guests can come a relax and enjoy a bit of popular culture while still enjoying the great outdoors. On
top of all of these great features, there are many amazing trails to follow throughout the park. I took a
great hike through the Ice Age Trail, the Kettle View Trail, and the Kame Terrace Trail. I really
enjoyed my peaceful walk through creation and also appreciated how well labeled the trails were in
comparison with the provided map at my entry to the park. The favorite aspect of the park, however,
would have to be the observation tower. With an elevation of 1233 feet on top of Lapham Peak, the
observation tower offers a breathtaking few of southeastern Wisconsin and apparently even parts of
Illinois. This view is amazing and really showcases God s glorious hand in the world that we live

Enlightenment In Siddhartha
Siddhartha Dreams For some, dreams can be a guidance for what one wants in life. The protagonist,
Siddhartha, sets out on a journey to find his enlightenment. Siddhartha uses many ways to find
himself, such as; becoming a samana with Govinda, buddhism, and then he finds himself by listening
to the river. Siddhartha leaves his father in hopes of enlightenment, and nonetheless feels his soul
merge with unity and achieves his ultimate goal. For the first time he hears all of the voices of the
river, not as many voices, but as one single continuum of life. These dreams are a guide for Siddhartha
because his dreams represent his goals in life; to find himself. For example, Siddhartha says to the
Brahman, With your permission, Father. I have come to tell you that I desire to leave your house
tomorrow and go to the ascetics. To become a samana is my desire. I hope my father will not oppose
this. (Hesse 8) This shows how even though his father does not approve of his desire, he still sets out
on this journey. Siddhartha s ultimate dream is to find his enlightenment, and he will never stop
looking for it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much like how he listens to the river. Siddhartha doubted himself while having his life with Kamala.
He doubted himself so much whereas he starts gambling and drinking, because of his unhappiness
with himself. He had finished with that. That also died in him. He rose, said farewell to the mango tree
and the pleasure garden. As he had not had any food that day he felt extremely hungry, and thought of
his house in town, of his room and bed, of the table with food. He smiled wearily, shook his head and
said good bye to these things. (Hesse 68) This shows that Siddhartha knew what was better for him.
He would rather have found himself than be overwhelmed with riches and love. Siddhartha knew to
listen to his dreams because that is what he wanted in

The Expansion Of The Western Expansion During The...
The narrative of America has always been associated with Western Expansion using bounds and leaps
starting from the East Coast until the Pacific. The acquisition of Alaska and Hawaii, though not
included in the historical literature, signified the expansion of Americans westward maintaining the
ideology of the Manifest Destiny. The Western expansion during the nineteenth century was aided by
various factors such as purchases, treaties, and wars with the Native Americans. This essay develops
the chronological events associated with the Western expansion that took place between 1860 and
1890.
According to Kinnahan (407), the 19th century in America was marked by the continuous and
tremendous expansion of agriculture and industry as well as settlement throughout the continent. The
country s population more than doubled by the 1890 census. Most of the financial progress was
concentrated in the plains, Midwest, and Northwest states. Particularly, the northwest became the
industrial periphery of the nation controlling more than 85 percent of the United States processing and
manufacturing of raw materials in the West and Midwest. The South thrived as an agricultural state
with minimal industrial activities.
For many years prior to the Civil War, the Northern states were forced to conform to the wayward
policies instituted by the South. The South held most of the Senate but as soon as their power began to
dwindle, their unscrupulous laws were reformed. Some of the policies that

Definition Of Basis Management Principles
Introduction
Supervision is the activity carried out by supervisors to oversee the productivity and progress of
employees who report directly to the supervisors. Supervision is a management activity and
supervisors typically are considered to have a management role in the organization. The act of
planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling resources to include personnel, equipment,
communications, and facilities to accomplish a mission goal applies to many domains such as first
response systems, law enforcement, space missions.

Authority
Authority is the power an organization gives to a supervisor to do something or to get something done.
There are two types of authority: formal and informal. Formal authority comes with the position a
person holds in the organization. Informal authority, also referred to as personal authority, is the power
you have because of your abilities and personal traits. In my opinion, authority is means want to
control something in your hand. Formal authority means use law or rules to control the store or public
place. Informal authority means you want to control something by yourself, nobody help you.

Branding Essay
BRANDING ESSAY
Subject:
The brand as an aspirational and cultural agent
14/03/2013
According to Philip J. Kotler a brand is a name, term, sign symbol or design, or a combination of them
to identify the goods or services of one seller or a group of sellers and to identify them from the
competitors . This definition expresses the brand as the sum of the representations that we have,
however, the brand is also a cultural agent. To remain permanently in the mind of the consumer brands
must build a recognizable brand and offer their cultural role models to their customers. Thus it is
necessary to include this cultural aspect to the marketing strategy of the brand. After explaining how

Even if this has a great value in brand equity, it is not enough to form a brand culture. The cornerstone
of its creation is a major concept; which is distinct to the brand and based on an innovative aspect (e.g.
Nike and culture transcendence). In this case there is a set of communication shared by a class of
consumers relaying the brand culture. This research of brand culture is becoming more and more
important, especially because consumers search meaning in their consumption and they need to be
involved in this consumer society that is constantly evolving. Similarly, the development of the media
and especially the internet makes it fertile ground for the development of this cultural facet.
We are part of a brands cultural bath influencing us in all our acts of consumption. The brand is a
center of social identification of the individual, our consumption reflects our identity. Especially for
brands that operate as social signs (car brands, clothing, food, telephone, etc. ...). And brands have
become cultural facts, when we consume we do not consume only the product but also the brand.
Every act of consumption is symbolic and cultural; there is no longer a pure commercial consumption.
The brand becomes a symbol, a materiel

Why Pro-Choice Is The Right Choice
Why Pro Choice is the Right Choice
With the evolving moral standards of society, abortions are becoming more and more justified.
Abortions, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother, has become a controversial issue in
American society, but should be generally supported because women should have the choice on how
they choose their eggs to go on, whether it be to end further growth of the fetus or not. Women have a
right to control what happens in and with their body.
Being a pro choice defender means taking sympathies to this woman while she then gets called a
murderer by pro life supporters. Abortions sometimes results in the woman being harassed because of
the choice she has made about her own body. That s what pro life supports. ... Show more content on

What Is A Dystopia
Though the dystopian society seems like it is an opposite of a utopia, it is not exactly opposite because
the dystopias also contain some of the elements that can be seen in utopias such as intense measures of
social control but the only difference is that in dystopia, these elements are taken to the horrendous
extremes and where the emphasis is upon the negative effects. In the words of M.H.Abrams, Dystopia
means a bad place...in which certain ominous tendencies of [the] present social, political, and

God . He will be worshipped by the citizens of the society. As, said before people cannot act however
they like and the main reason for such thing is that the citizens are always under the surveillance. They
would be watched by the authoritative groups and any change in their behaviour would be very well
known by the group. Citizens do not lead a peaceful life and they always live in a fear of the outside
world. They also live in a dehumanized state. They lack all the positive human qualities. The
negativity that prevails in their life does not give them any positivity and thus their life just moves on
without any hope. People are shown as suffering both physically and psychologically. People are made

personal poem The Pomegranate. Here, and throughout the poem, Boland allegorically refers to the
Greek myth for the seasons to explain her fear of her daughter s growth into adulthood.
The myth tells of Mother earth, Demeter, and her daughter Persephone who is kidnapped by Hades to
be his wife in the Underworld. Deeply saddened, Demeter stops tending for the earth and as a result
the crops stop growing. Zeus begs Hades to release Persephone so that the humans do not starve.
Hades agrees under the condition that Persephone does not eat any food while in the underworld, but
tricks her into taking a single bite of a pomegranate. Persephone ... Show more content on

And with an exclamation, Boland is reminded of the pomegranate! because of the uncut fruit her
daughter is eating. Finally there is a way she can stop the passage of time, stop the inevitable coming
of age that will leave her daughterless. Poor Persephone could have been safe if it weren t for that
pomegranate, but Boland would make her daughter safe, remind her not to eat it, not to fall into the

How The Philosophies Of Lily And Selden In The House Of Mirth
Lily Bart is 29 years old in early 20th century America, unwed and unattached to any family money.
The House of Mirth follows her story, ten years after her family is financially ruined and she is
orphaned, as she desperately clings to the wealth of her friends and attempts to marry into money.
Among the many suitable prospects, Lily finds Lawrence Selden, a bachelor who exists on the edge of
rich society with no fortune of his own and no desire to acquire any, the most alluring. References to
the Bible and Greek mythology serve to flesh out the respective approaches to life of Lily and Selden,
how those approaches adapt to the course of their lives and the overall struggle between pleasure and
survival. To first establish the different philosophies of Lily and Selden, Wharton titles the novel with
a reference to the Bible which condemns frivolous living, and describes Selden s views relative to two

Lies In Much Ado About Nothing
Lies are physiological decisions of the human brain to state or believe in a certain untrue event or
causation. Throughout human history, the action of lying seems to be present throughout the
chronological timeline of humans, 10,000BCE 2016CE,. It is believed that lying is a basic action of
humans that is displayed to affect the decision and behavior of another human. Much Ado About

This is due to people paying attention to a specific idea and not looking more broadly. Don Pedro is
the Prince of Arragon. He looks to improve the welfare of his friends with the desire of love. Mainly,
he desires to bring Benedick and Beatrice together whom were rivals. In order to do this, he lies to
accomplish what he wants. To improve his friend s welfare, Don Pedro claims, If she should make

Benedick that Beatrice loves him. This plan worked as Benedick voiced, by this day! she s fair lady: I

Benedick fell for Don Pedro plans by believing that Beatrice likes him. By Benedick announcing, I do

love Beatrice. At that moment in the play there was no scent of love from Beatrice; clearly, Benedick
is illusioning the words of Don Pedro and falls in love with Beatrice because he thinks Beatrice loves
him. The idea that Beatrice loves(which is a lie) Benedick causes Benedick to fall in love because
realizes that being in love is superior than being a bachelor. Also ,another person the lied within the

A Marxist Reading of Shakespeare s Coriolanus Essay examples
A Marxist Reading of Coriolanus
One popular dissecting instrument of any Shakespearean character is the modern tool of
psychoanalysis. Many of Shakespeare s great tragic heroes Macbeth, Hamlet, King Lear, and Othello,
to name a few have all been understood by this method of plying back and interpreting the layers of
motivation and desire that constitute every individual. Add to this list Shakespeare s Roman warrior
Coriolanus. His strong maternal ties coupled with his aggressive and intractable nature have been ideal
fodder for modern psychoanalytic interpretation. This interpretation, however, falls within a larger,
political context. For despite the fact that Coriolanus is a tragedy largely because of the foibles of its

Marxism, essentially, is a theory of the proletarian liberation movement. This theory is dialectic in that
society is seen as a composition of contraries (e.g., rich vs. poor), and that what makes humanity
evolve is the struggle between these contraries. The triumph of one over the other produces change.
Change, however, is resisted by the ruling class because most, if not all, of the wealth is concentrated
in their hands; they in turn control the means of production, allowing them to exploit the workers for
their own ends and widen the gap between the rich and poor even more in the process. This situation
produces alienation in the worker; it deprives him of something, and this is not only degrading but
depersonalizing as well (Appignanesi, 79).
From this perspective, Menenius fable of the belly is clearly fallacious and intended to instill a false
state of consciousness in his listeners. The tale deflects the cause of the plebeians hunger from the
patricians right back at the plebeians themselves:
... For the dearth,
The gods, not the patricians, make it, and
Your knees to them, not arms, must help (I.i.63 65).
Modern capitalist apologists use much the same argument as this, only instead of directing the
working class to pray to the gods to better their lot in life, they

The Social Shame Of Prostitutes
Prostitutes are again compared to dogs because of their societal shame except this time in the New
Testament. This occurs in the book of Revelation. Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they
will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and
sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices
falsehood. Revelation 22: 14 15. This verse alludes to the fact that prostitutes or fornicators are lowly
and wicked since they are compared to dogs. Another noteworthy point is that they are also grouped
together with other sinners including: sorcerers, murderers, and idolaters and it is even written that
these people love and practices falsehood . These are truly wicked people as they literally love to
practice their sins. These wicked people face damnation as they are locked outside of Heaven but this
point concerning damnation will be expanded upon later in the essay. This verse is another example of
the societal shame concerning prostitutes because of their wickedness. I wrote to you in my letter not
to associate with sexually immoral persons not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy
and robbers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to
you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or

The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Greek Literature
In Greek literature, tragedies tend to have a traditional format: a tragic hero, reversal of fortune due to
a tragic flaw, moment of recognition, and catharsis. In order to be considered a tragic hero, the
character must be born noble, is usually a ruler, and has a tragic flaw which causes peripety. Typically,
the hero s realization of self inflicted doom is what allows a release of emotions. This raises a question
of who the tragic hero is in Medea. The tragic hero is thought to be Jason, however there is an
argument that he has no realization that his demise is due to his own flaw which does not allow
catharsis. In Euripides greek play, the audience experiences catharsis as they watch the secondary
characters, Medea, Creusa, and Jason and Medea s sons suffer as a result of Jason s hamartia; striving
for power. These secondary characters experience the true suffering and therefore they are what allow
the reader to reach catharsis. In the beginning of the text, Jason abandons Medea for another woman.
Medea feels an overwhelming sense of heartbreak and anger because she not only loved Jason but she
did everything for him; she went against her father, ran away from her home, killed her brother, and
helped him succeed on his journeys according to the readings of Edith Hamilton s The Quest of the
Golden Fleece. Medea also makes is clear how she was a loving and providing wife to him and
definitely not deserving of abandonment. And I have loved him and borne him sons;

Dalton Conley You May Ask Yourself Summary
Dalton Conley describes labeling theory in Chapter 6 of You May Ask Yourself as the belief that
individuals subconsciously notice how others see or label them, and their reactions to those labels over
time form the basis of their self identity (Conley, 2011:203). In other words, over time, a person s self
identity changes to fit the character other people impose upon them. An action itself isn t necessarily
deviant unless society decides it is. Labeling theory can go either way, either positive or negative.
While not necessarily deviant, an example of the self fulfilling (or Pygmalion) prophecy created by
labeling is from You May Ask Yourself, Chapter 13. Conley (2011) makes reference to a study by
Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson who administered IQ tests to a group of students. They then
proceeded to randomly select a fifth of the students for their experiment, and communicated to their
teachers that they were particularly bright (basically labelling them.) At the end of the year they
retested all of the students, and found that the ones they had singled out as higher potential ended up
performing better on the test than their peers. The researchers found that the label they had attached to

What is food? What does our food really contain? We can go days, weeks, and perhaps months and

Argumentative Essay On Foreign Aid
Introduction
Most people feel obligated to assist others in need. In major crises like natural disasters, wars, medical
outbreaks, and the struggling economies of the developing world, many citizens of developed
countries believe it is morally right to provide assistance in situations like these, in response to being
more fortunate. However according to Mark Goldberg, an editor of the United Nations and global
affairs blog UN Dispatch and host of the Global Dispatches Podcast, discusses the truth behind
foreign aid. He reveals that foreign support is an issue that is widely misunderstood by the general
public, and is one of the most complicated subjects. Foreign policy has been under a huge debate and
there is an obvious need for reformation, for it lacks clear leadership and strategic planning. In fact
political leaders are very skeptic about foreign policy, and often find ways to push it back. What the
citizens of first world should be inquiring, is foreign aid actually what we think it is, or are the internal
reasons of the politics reshaping its truth?
History of foreign aid, why is it what it is
Imperialism is policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military

Essay on Analysis of Comparable Worth and the Common Good
The Federal Government has been struggling for almost four decades now to close the gap between
the wages of men and women. In the 1960 s, women were paid approximately 60 cents for every
dollar men received for their work. Although progress has been made since Congress passed the Equal
Pay Act in 1963, equality has not yet been achieved. Today, thirty six years later, women still earn
only seventy six percent of the wages of men.
Early studies found convincing evidence that women were being construed as inferior when it came to
their work. Jobs that were dominated by women were paid less than male dominated jobs, not because
they were intrinsically worth less, but because they were dominated by women (Treiman Hartmann,
1981:93; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jobs are judged similar, thus comparable, based on composite ratings of requirements such as skill,
effort, responsibility, or other factors valued by an organization. All in all, comparable worth is
necessary because discriminatory pay practices of the past were not fully addressed by equal
employment opportunity legislation, and thus effects have been perpetuated by conventional pay
administration practices (Taylor, 1989). Comparable worth rests on the theory that pay differentials are
caused by sex discrimination. It proposes that sexual segregation in jobs has unjustly depressed
women workers wages. According to Wittig (1989), we may look at how this segregation has
contributed to the wage gap from two viewpoints. Firstly, a significant portion of the sex pay gap has
undoubtedly been caused by job placement discrimination, which has placed women into less skilled,
less demanding jobs. Secondly, the gap may be caused by female jobs being assigned lower pay, even
when the jobs require skill equal to that in male jobs. There are several ways that this discrimination
may be sustained: 1) job segregation related to prejudice by employers, consumers, and co workers; 2)
devaluation of jobs performed primarily by women and minority men; and 3) women and minority
men s job choices, assertiveness about pay, and other group tendencies (Wittig, 1989). So, how does
one go about achieving comparable worth in their organization, you may bee wondering? First, a

people to comprehend it, the story of Hercules needed to be simplified. There many changes to help
people understand the story of Hercules, but there are three main topics that have been changed to

Yes, actually a happy ending is portrayed in both the original myth and movie, but are very different.
In the original myth Hercules died as a result of a poison, and after having burned in the funeral pyre,
he obtained immortality (Greek Mythology). He may have died, but if he did not die he would not
have become an immortal. After becoming an immortal Hercules married a women named Hebe.
Hebe was actually the daughter of Hera, the women who tried to kill Hercules. Along with getting
married he had a child in Olympus where he started to live the life of an immortal. Though he did end
with becoming immortal and getting married this is probably not the ideal ending for Disney, because
instead Disney only used half of the original myth and even changed some of that. When I say they
used half of the myth I am referring to how Hercules ended up falling in love with Meg and lived
happily, but it was with actually with Hebe. The other half of the ending is when Hercules chose to be
with Meg instead of staying immortal, because due to his decision he became a mortal. When
Hercules decided to be a mortal he also chose love. I think that with including that Hercules chose
love over eternal life he gives a good message for everyone. My guess is that Disney decided that
having the message that when you lose one thing something another thing good will happen, for
instance how Hercules was a mortal, but he also got love which was his main

Causes And Effects Of Animal Cruelty In Australia
Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being hurt and starved
everyday. Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are forms of
animal cruelty. If you check the webpage of RSPCAAustralia (Royal Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals), you will find a list of actions and conditions that can be qualified as cruelty to
animals. The list includes such points as torturing or beating an animal; failing to provide it with food
and appropriate treatment in case of disease or injury; killing an animal in an inhumane manner;
failing to provide appropriate transportation conditions, and so on. According to statistics, animals
who suffer from cruelty most often are dogs (64.5%) and cats (18%). 25% are for other animals, such
as horses (The Humane Society). Supposedly, it means domestic pets are the most vulnerable category
to suffer from cruelty; also, it might mean cruelty towards animals is a result of pet owners
demonstrating their anger, frustration, or stress on the closest and most defenseless creatures.
Greyhound racing, puppy farms and animal testing are three major examples of animal cruelty.

Brain Perfusion Visual Analysis
1.3.3 Image analysis The analysis of brain perfusion SPECT images is primarily visual. The visual
analysis is based on a flexible and comprehensive qualitative evaluation of the image, and even more
importantly, it includes the reader s medical judgment and the particular diagnostic question in each
patient [Refs]. The visual analysis also helps to prevent misinterpretation when there are technical
artifacts present in the image. However, the visual analysis is susceptible to inter reader variability,
especially in cases where CBF alterations may be subtle. This is one of the reasons for the need for
quantitative methods of image analysis. Furthermore, quantitative methods are particularly useful in
research, and make it easier, for example, to study associations with clinical variables of interest in a
particular disease. One of the quantitative methods used for years in brain perfusion SPECT has been

2.2 How did Turkey s geopolitics influence its foreign policy and foreign relation? The direction of
Turkey s foreign policy has shaped by many factors and geopolitics defiantly played an important part
in it. Turkey s foreign policies during the cold war are the product of westernization and the

Moral Relativism
Different cultures view ethics in different ways. I think that moral relativism should be viewed the
same way all across the world. Some cultures praise the wrong doing of their people and celebrate
their behavior whether it is wrong or right. Other cultures, will shun a group or individual if he/she
was doing something unethical. As a society, America tends to judge an action before we hear the
story or background of the person. Our country is a prime example of how moral relativism applies to
everyday actions. If someone is committing a crime, the individual will be sentenced and punished if
necessary. However in other countries, an individual that has done wrong may go free. For example,
the incident that happened in
Tunis, Tunsania, now has a video created on the people that committed the acts. In American culture,
the people that committed the crime would have been caught, tried and sent to jail. In some cultures,
what one deems as unethical, may be another society s norm. Take abortion as an example, we as
Americans may view a mother having an abortion as a wrongful act , but in some ... Show more

Many cultures today have belief in a higher power. Individual countries may not view the same
practice to get to eternal life, but all agree that there is life after death. For instance, many Christians
believe praising God and living according to the bible will get people into heaven. On the other hand,
Muslims believe that following the Koran and praying to the East will get people into eternal glory.
These religions both have the same idea that one must do something in order to seek the face of God
and to live right so they can enter the gates of heaven. They may worship differently to get there, but
still have the same general idea. There is an increasing desire and an increasing will across the world
today to build a sustainable and just world, (Tippett, Kirsta,

  • 2. The Treatment Of Breast Cancer Breast cancer affects so many women around the world. Even with the technology and medicine we have today to treat this deadly disease, the pain a patient experiences with breast cancer is still relentless. Pain comes from either progression of the disease or a side effect from treatment. In this article they talk about the role of the WHO s three step analgesic ladder and how the administration of opioids for breast cancer patients experiencing pain effect ones psychological state and their quality of life. Since many patients experience negative side effects from opioids, there becomes a need to develop therapeutic modalities. Overall, the main purpose of the article was to focus on current treatments that provide pain management for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, many of these ways are through pain medications called non opioid, weak opioid, and strong opioid. As the opioid gets stronger the higher the chance of intolerable side effect can occur. Side effects from different opioids are known to cause a decrease in the quality of life for a breast cancer patient. How does one choose a medication to deal with pain at different levels? The WHO s ladder for relief of cancer pain was developed for this reason. In short, if you have minimal pain you will receive non opioids. Once the non opioids do not help and pain continues to increase, strong opioids will be administered. It s a stepping ladder; each step in the progression of cancer has a certain medication to deal with that stage of pain. Because of the need for pharmacotherapy in breast cancer patients, the patient will undergo limitation. The patient can experience nausea and vomiting, gastric disturbances, renal dysfunction are common, as well as respiratory depression has been known to occur while on opioids. Patients need the pharmacotherapy to deal with pain and kill their cancer, but those opioids really affect a person s essence of life. Luckily, there are also non pharmacological therapies a patient can participate in. Yoga, acupuncture and musical therapy are great examples of these. • 3. Character Analysis Of Chuck Bass The pilot episode introduces viewers to the series plot line and its primary characters. In the first episode, Chuck appears as a privileged, woman obsessed teenager. In fact, referring to the show s primary protagonist, Serena, he suggests, that level of perfection needs to be violated. Later, referring to Blair Waldorf, he insists his friend, Nate Archibald, should tap that ass. Ultimately, Chuck only views his female counterparts as sexual objects, not human beings. Throughout the first season, in particular, Chuck is mostly characterized as three things: rich, mean, and sexually aggressive (McNear, 2017). Furthermore, he rarely thinks, or cares, about consequences because he never actually suffers any negative repercussions for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Misleadingly, Chuck guides Serena to the kitchen, where he orders the chef to make her a sandwich. While in the kitchen, he suggests, if you re looking for a way to thank me I have a couple of ideas. He then forces himself upon Serena despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. Chuck ignores her. Fortunately, Serena hits Chuck and runs away, escaping his assault. The scene highlights a number of serious concerns. First, Chuck knows Serena is drunk; therefore, she is unable to give true consent. So, even if Serena had wanted Chuck to make a move, she lacked the clear capacity to do so, thus making it a problematic sexual encounter. Second, as with many real life scenarios, Serena does not press charges against her perpetrator. In fact, she tells no one of Chuck s assault. Since he suffers no repercussions for his first offense, Chuck later assaults Jenny Humphrey at a party. Jenny, like many freshmen, is willing to do almost anything to gain popularity. Chuck, on the other hand, has power over Jenny because he is an upper classman with wealth. In the scene leading up to his assault upon Jenny, he references the purity and freshness of freshmen, hinting at the allure of Jenny s innocence. Chuck then uses his charm and social status to lure her in. Throughout the entire encounter, Jenny is visibly uncomfortable. Noticing Jenny s behavior, Chuck hands her a flute of ... • 4. Health Economics And Policy Questions Health Economics and Policy Coursework Question 2 SN: 13026885 a) w= £62,500 U= √w 50% chance of medical problem Costs of £4,900 We can derive this individual s expected wealth if we multiply the probability of each outcome with the associated costs. E(w) = 0.5 * £62,500 + 0.5 * (£62,500 £4,900) E(w) = 0.5 * £62,500 + 0.5 * £57,600 E(w) = £60,050 To find out what level of utility will this individual s expected wealth yield, we simply have to put the value of the E(w) in the utility equation. We know U= √w, so in our case U(E(w)) = √(E(w)) U(E(w)) = √60,050  U(E(w)) ≈ 245.051 To compute this individual s expected utility, we follow the exact same procedure as in point i), but this time for utility. So, we first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only will he be willing to purchase insurance, but he may also want to pay above the actuarially fair price, just to avoid additional expenses in case of sickness. The original risky gamble (in the absence of insurance) would leave him with an expected utility of 245, as shown in point iii) this is the minimum utility this individual is willing to go to. That is, he will be willing to pay an amount of money that will leave him with a certain utility equal to the expected utility of the original gamble 245. This utility is associated with a wealth of 2452 = £60,025. So the maximum amount he is willing to pay for insurance is £62,500 £60,025 = £2,475 . Anything above this price would leave him with a certain utility lower than the expected one. This is illustrated in the graph, by the red arrow. b) Moral Hazard: Moral hazard is one of the market failures that occurs mostly in insurance markets. When consumers purchase insurance, and therefore, do not pay for the full price of health care health care becomes relatively cheaper for them. Thus, consumers demand more health care than they would do in the absence of insurance a phenomena regarded as moral hazard. It only occurs under the assumption that the demand for some types of health care is elastic and therefore responsive to price changes. • 6. The Role Of Popular Music In The Infantilization Of Women Music can help change lives, heal wounds, or unfortunately, create stigmas. We live in a world that stigmatizes women on a daily basis, and the music industry plays no less of a significant role in reinforcing some of those stigmas. One apparent stigma that the current music industry is promoting is the infantilization of women. Infantilization is the act of treating an adult as a child, and thus denying her or his maturity. Equating women with children, and treating them as if they are weak and dependent is something we can clearly see in pop music. Whether it was through presenting women in infantilized positions in music videos or using infantilizing terms in lyrics, pop music plays a big role in shaping our inaccurate perception of women. ... I predict that the participants would describe the women in the infantilized song lyrics and music videos as childlike and dependent. If my prediction was true, I would use the discussion parts to explain the powerfulness of music in shaping the perception of women in our society. In my discussion, I will incorporate the findings of Huot s and Carlson s research that go along with my predicted finding. I will also use the examples of the infantilization of women in pop culture that are shown in The Codes of Gender; a documentary film, written and directed by Sut Jhally, that focuses on the American s pop culture role in shaping the stereotypical ideas about femininity and masculinity. Also in this section, I will discuss other effects that resulted from the infantilization of women in music. I will use Alanna Vagianos s Huffington post article Drake s Hotline Bling Just Got A Genius Feminist Makeover, to help me provide an example. In this article, Vagianos presents the story of a 27 year old woman named Javetta Laster who was affected by the infantilizing lyrics of the hit song Hotline Bling, and decided to rewrite the lyrics in a more accurate way. One example of Laster s rewritten lyrics shows how the original one was presenting an infantilized look of women; the original lyric says: Why you never alone? Why you always touching road? Used to stay at home, be a good girl. You was in the zone, yeah, while Laster s edited feminist version of the same lyric says: You used to stay at home and be someone I saw fitting into the patriarchal expectations of women to be infantilized good girls which is some bizarre father/daughter husband/wife dynamic left over from women being considered adult children property. The Nationals played strikingly well last year, albeit Bryce Harper having a down year. Eaton is a big league outfielder with a high OBP, and Wieters will start at catcher, but his production is bound to peter off because he s on the tail end of his career. Lind is a washed up former American League DH trying to make it in the NL; however, Blanton should be a humungo asset in coagulating a bullpen which lacks a true closer. Siddhartha uses many ways to find himself, such as; becoming a samana with Govinda, buddhism, and then he finds himself by listening to the river. Siddhartha leaves his father in hopes of enlightenment, and nonetheless feels his soul merge with unity and achieves his ultimate goal. For the first time he hears all of the voices of the river, not as many voices, but as one single continuum of life. These dreams are a guide for Siddhartha because his dreams represent his goals in life; to find himself. For example, Siddhartha says to the Brahman, With your permission, Father. I have come to tell you that I desire to leave your house tomorrow and go to the ascetics. To become a samana is my desire. I hope my father will not oppose this. The narrative of America has always been associated with Western Expansion using bounds and leaps starting from the East Coast until the Pacific. The acquisition of Alaska and Hawaii, though not included in the historical literature, signified the expansion of Americans westward maintaining the ideology of the Manifest Destiny. The Western expansion during the nineteenth century was aided by various factors such as purchases, treaties, and wars with the Native Americans. This essay develops the chronological events associated with the Western expansion that took place between 1860 and 1890. According to Kinnahan (407), the 19th century in America was marked by the continuous and tremendous expansion of agriculture and industry as well as settlement throughout the continent. The country s population more than doubled by the 1890 census. Most of the financial progress was concentrated in the plains, Midwest, and Northwest states. Particularly, the northwest became the industrial periphery of the nation controlling more than 85 percent of the United States processing and manufacturing of raw materials in the West and Midwest. The South thrived as an agricultural state with minimal industrial activities. The triumph of one over the other produces change. Change, however, is resisted by the ruling class because most, if not all, of the wealth is concentrated in their hands; they in turn control the means of production, allowing them to exploit the workers for their own ends and widen the gap between the rich and poor even more in the process. This situation produces alienation in the worker; it deprives him of something, and this is not only degrading but depersonalizing as well (Appignanesi, 79). The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Greek Literature In Greek literature, tragedies tend to have a traditional format: a tragic hero, reversal of fortune due to a tragic flaw, moment of recognition, and catharsis. In order to be considered a tragic hero, the character must be born noble, is usually a ruler, and has a tragic flaw which causes peripety. Typically, the hero s realization of self inflicted doom is what allows a release of emotions. This raises a question of who the tragic hero is in Medea. The tragic hero is thought to be Jason, however there is an argument that he has no realization that his demise is due to his own flaw which does not allow catharsis. In Euripides greek play, the audience experiences catharsis as they watch the secondary characters, Medea, Creusa, and Jason and Medea s sons suffer as a result of Jason s hamartia; striving for power. Dalton Conley You May Ask Yourself Summary Dalton Conley describes labeling theory in Chapter 6 of You May Ask Yourself as the belief that individuals subconsciously notice how others see or label them, and their reactions to those labels over time form the basis of their self identity (Conley, 2011:203). In other words, over time, a person s self identity changes to fit the character other people impose upon them. An action itself isn t necessarily deviant unless society decides it is. Labeling theory can go either way, either positive or negative. While not necessarily deviant, an example of the self fulfilling (or Pygmalion) prophecy created by labeling is from You May Ask Yourself, Chapter 13. Conley (2011) makes reference to a study by Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson who administered IQ tests to a group of students. They then proceeded to randomly select a fifth of the students for their experiment, and communicated to their teachers that they were particularly bright (basically labelling them.) In major crises like natural disasters, wars, medical outbreaks, and the struggling economies of the developing world, many citizens of developed countries believe it is morally right to provide assistance in situations like these, in response to being more fortunate. However according to Mark Goldberg, an editor of the United Nations and global affairs blog UN Dispatch and host of the Global Dispatches Podcast, discusses the truth behind foreign aid. He reveals that foreign support is an issue that is widely misunderstood by the general public, and is one of the most complicated subjects. Foreign policy has been under a huge debate and there is an obvious need for reformation, for it lacks clear leadership and strategic planning. In fact political leaders are very skeptic about foreign policy, and often find ways to push it back. • 29. Essay on Analysis of Comparable Worth and the Common Good The Federal Government has been struggling for almost four decades now to close the gap between the wages of men and women. In the 1960 s, women were paid approximately 60 cents for every dollar men received for their work. Although progress has been made since Congress passed the Equal Pay Act in 1963, equality has not yet been achieved. Today, thirty six years later, women still earn only seventy six percent of the wages of men. Early studies found convincing evidence that women were being construed as inferior when it came to their work. Jobs that were dominated by women were paid less than male dominated jobs, not because they were intrinsically worth less, but because they were dominated by women (Treiman Hartmann, 1981:93; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jobs are judged similar, thus comparable, based on composite ratings of requirements such as skill, effort, responsibility, or other factors valued by an organization. All in all, comparable worth is necessary because discriminatory pay practices of the past were not fully addressed by equal employment opportunity legislation, and thus effects have been perpetuated by conventional pay administration practices (Taylor, 1989). Comparable worth rests on the theory that pay differentials are caused by sex discrimination. It proposes that sexual segregation in jobs has unjustly depressed women workers wages. According to Wittig (1989), we may look at how this segregation has contributed to the wage gap from two viewpoints. Firstly, a significant portion of the sex pay gap has undoubtedly been caused by job placement discrimination, which has placed women into less skilled, less demanding jobs. Secondly, the gap may be caused by female jobs being assigned lower pay, even when the jobs require skill equal to that in male jobs. There are several ways that this discrimination may be sustained: 1) job segregation related to prejudice by employers, consumers, and co workers; 2) devaluation of jobs performed primarily by women and minority men; and 3) women and minority men s job choices, assertiveness about pay, and other group tendencies (Wittig, 1989). So, how does one go about achieving comparable worth in their organization, you may bee wondering? First, a method must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the original myth Hercules died as a result of a poison, and after having burned in the funeral pyre, he obtained immortality (Greek Mythology). He may have died, but if he did not die he would not have become an immortal. After becoming an immortal Hercules married a women named Hebe. Hebe was actually the daughter of Hera, the women who tried to kill Hercules. Along with getting married he had a child in Olympus where he started to live the life of an immortal. Though he did end with becoming immortal and getting married this is probably not the ideal ending for Disney, because instead Disney only used half of the original myth and even changed some of that. When I say they used half of the myth I am referring to how Hercules ended up falling in love with Meg and lived happily, but it was with actually with Hebe. The other half of the ending is when Hercules chose to be with Meg instead of staying immortal, because due to his decision he became a mortal. When Hercules decided to be a mortal he also chose love. I think that with including that Hercules chose love over eternal life he gives a good message for everyone. My guess is that Disney decided that having the message that when you lose one thing something another thing good will happen, for instance how Hercules was a mortal, but he also got love which was his main ... • 34. Brain Perfusion Visual Analysis 1.3.3 Image analysis The analysis of brain perfusion SPECT images is primarily visual. The visual analysis is based on a flexible and comprehensive qualitative evaluation of the image, and even more importantly, it includes the reader s medical judgment and the particular diagnostic question in each patient [Refs]. The visual analysis also helps to prevent misinterpretation when there are technical artifacts present in the image. However, the visual analysis is susceptible to inter reader variability, especially in cases where CBF alterations may be subtle. This is one of the reasons for the need for quantitative methods of image analysis. Furthermore, quantitative methods are particularly useful in research, and make it easier, for example, to study associations with clinical variables of interest in a particular disease. One of the quantitative methods used for years in brain perfusion SPECT has been the method based on regions of interest (ROI). The method has evolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quantitative methods explained so far quantify the CBF (in one way or another) but in relative units, which implies that the regional CBF values are relative to the number of counts corresponding to a reference value. The reference value may be the mean value of a specific brain region (e.g., the cerebellum) or the whole brain. Some cultures praise the wrong doing of their people and celebrate their behavior whether it is wrong or right. Other cultures, will shun a group or individual if he/she was doing something unethical. As a society, America tends to judge an action before we hear the story or background of the person. Our country is a prime example of how moral relativism applies to everyday actions. If someone is committing a crime, the individual will be sentenced and punished if necessary. However in other countries, an individual that has done wrong may go free. For example, the incident that happened in Tunis, Tunsania, now has a video created on the people that committed the acts. In American culture, the people that committed the crime would have been caught, tried and sent to jail. In some cultures, what one deems as unethical, may be another society s norm.
