The Pro Life vs Pro Choice Debate
History of Abortion The 1973 court case Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision for United States
history, and it still remains very controversial today. The Court ruled that the right to privacy applied
to a woman s choice to have an abortion, therefore legalizing the action. Abortion is officially defined
as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of
pregnancy. Today there are two groups continuing this battle, pro life and pro choice . People who
define themselves as pro life believe that abortion is unethical and insist that the Roe v. Wade decision
be overturned. On the other side of the battle, pro choicers fight to get even more liberation for
women.
Pro choice Argument The main argument of pro choicers is that women should be responsible for
anything involving their own body, because no one else is living her life, and...she will have to live
with [her] decision [to have an abortion] (Pollitt 12). The government isn t affected by a woman
having an abortion, so they shouldn t be involved in the decision. Although they re pleased that
abortion is legal in the United States, present day supporters are still pushing for modifications to the
1973 Supreme Court ruling: Roe v. Wade was all about privacy, but the most private parts of a woman
s body and the most private decisions she will ever make have never been more public (Pollitt

Secondary School Documentary
Reflective Essay
Introduction
The documentary, Secondary School, chronicles the daily lives of two prestigious secondary schools
in Hong Kong, including classes, teachers meeting and parents workshop. This reflective essay will
employ the perspectives of Weber and Marx respectively, exploring how they may consider current
secondary education in Hong Kong.
The documentary shows a strict hierarchy of teachers and students. The schools apply wide ranging
regulations on students. Students have to attend school with the uniform. Students cannot enter
teachers office and can only call teachers using the beeper at the entrance. Teachers teach them how to
behave in consonance with school regulations and common virtues. Misbehaviours can incur
punishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They owe the failure of society members to personal deficiencies rather than the problem of
capitalism. The documentary shot a scene of examination at the end. The teacher makes a speech
before the exam, which stresses the importance of personal endeavour. It is a perfect reflection of the
perpetuation of capitalist values. It shapes the mindset of the students that nobody else but themselves
are to blame if they cannot earn a good life in the

Personal Qualities Of Personal Trainers
With an estimated 35.7% of Americans being obese, according to the Centers of Disease Control and
Prevention (IBISWorld, 2015) the need and desire for people to get fit and live a healthier lifestyle has
created a demand for personal trainers. Personal trainers are like someone s own personal coach; they
help guide and teach an individual to reach certain fitness goals that they aspire to achieve. This can
be done either one on one or in a group setting depending on the preference of the subject and coach.
Personal Trainers help guide and educate clients through exercise instruction, exercise demonstration,
diet recommendations and fitness consolations. Personal trainers typically become fitness instructors
out of a passion for being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have to understand that everybody is different, where one might just want to lose weight, while
another is trying to add muscle and strength. Understanding how to use and alter modalities to obtain
the best results for clients is a difficult task. There are a wide variety of special populations that
require a vast amount of knowledge to understand how to program and tailor workout programs to. In
recent years there has been more prevalence in regards to certifications and requirements needed to
become a personal trainer. More and more gyms and fitness centers are recognizing these agencies as
the top notch certifying agencies that they want trainers to have. Never the less, personal training can
be a very rewarding career choice where trainers get to help people reach goals and travel along that
journey with them. With that said, higher standards need to be held for trainers within the industry so
that there are a set of guidelines that all trainers are held to. Personal training is difficult job. Many of
the clients who begin exercise programs do not continue with their programs for a variety of reasons.
As said by (Melton et. al, 2010) Of those who do adopt an exercise program, it is estimated that 50%
will discontinue it within the first 6 months, making exercise adherence a critical issue. It is clear that
factors related to adherence are complex, but 1 important factor is a client s feeling of support from
the activity leader. The

The Holocaust s Effect on the German Jew Essay
Adolf Hitler came to power over Germany in January of 1933. He hated Jews and blamed them for
everything bad that had ever happened to Germany. Hitler s goal in life was to eliminate the Jewish
population. With his rise to power in Germany, he would put into action his plan of elimination. This
is not only why German Jews were the main target of the Holocaust, but why they were a large part of
the years before, during, and after the Holocaust. Hitler s final solution almost eliminated the Jewish
population in Europe during World War II. At the end of the war and along with his suicide, the Jewish
population would survive the horror known as the Holocaust and the Jews would eventually find their
way back to their homeland of Israel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2). Even though this was not a violent treatment of the Jews, it was an attempt to bankrupt and
dehumanize them of everything they had worked for their whole lives (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2).
As a result, Jews became a segregated people. They had to ride on buses and trains only in the seat
that were clearly marked for them (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). Jewish children were allowed to be
bullied at school in an attempt to keep them from coming to school. Hitler used this to brand the Jews
as a lazy people (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). The Nuremberg Laws passed in 1935 gave even more
power to the Nazis and took away more dignity of the Jews. The Jews were stripped of their German
citizenship and marriages between Jews and non Jews were not allowed (Jews in Nazi Germany pg.
2). At this point, the Jews who could afford to pay a fine to leave the country were allowed to do so,
but the ones who could not afford it had to stay behind and were not allowed to get food or medicine
(Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). Hitler s campaign against the Jews escalated in 1938 with Krystalnacht
The Night of the Broken Glass (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). After a Nazi diplomat was found shot to
death, Hitler began a seven day war of terror against the Jews (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). Shops
that were owned by Jews were destroyed and robbed, homes and synagogues burned

Judge Haselton s Case Summary
In May of 1998, Kipland Kinkel brought a gun to his school. Over the course of two days this
escalated from: being sent home, to murdering his father and mother, to murdering 2 students and
wounding 26, earning a lifetime sentence of 111 years and 8 months in prison. In the court case being
examined, the presiding judge addresses the original case, defendants ground for appeal, and the
justification for the State s decision to deny the appeal. Judge Haselton effectively uses ethos, logos,
and pathos to support the Higher Court s decision to deny the appeal because the original sentence was
constitutional and just. Summary In State of Oregon v. Kipland Kinkel, Judge Haselton summarizes
the decision to deny Kinkel s appeal of his sentencing. Kinkel was sentenced by the Lower Court to
111 years and 8 months for the confession of 4 murders and 25 accounts of attempted murder. Several
medical personal and parents testified against Kinkel at the hearing stating that, he is and remains
dangerous, (para. 15). The defense s grounds for appeal consist of the sentencing being cruel and
unusual and that the protection of society was considered more than reformation. The higher court
denied it was cruel and unusual because it did not shock the conscience. The presiding judge also
denied that reformation was of higher significance than the protection of society because there were
multiple victims affected in a public setting. Audience, Purpose, and Rhetorical Stance There is a

Roald Dahl s The Landlady
Roald Dahl s realistic fiction story, The LandLady, takes place at a bed and breakfast owned by the
landlady where she also lives. Billy Weaver, a seventeen year old guy, was looking for a place to stay,
and he walks by the landlady s house. He was going to keep walking when a sign suddenly caught his
eye and next thing he knew, he was ringing the doorbell. By using sentence variety with lots of
description, Roald Dahl creates the lesson that it is essential to be aware and conscientious of one s
immediate surroundings.
Throughout the story, the lack of awareness and being conscientious is a central issue that affects all of
the characters. Bill Weaver lacks an awareness of what is going on throughout the story and he is not
being cautious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Billy is not aware and conscientious of his immediate surroundings. When Billy
is walking down the street and sees the landlady s sign, he seems to be drawn into the house. BED
AND BREAKFAST, it said. BED AND BREAKFAST, BED AND BREAKFAST. Each word was like
a large black eye staring at him through the glass. These words are holding him compelling him
forcing him to stay where he was and not to walk away from that house (2). This does not even make
Billy have the slightest doubt about anything. Dahl uses the sensory detail of sight to draw in the
reader to the sign as it did to Billy when Billy keeps repeating what the sign said over and over again.
Dahl not only uses sensory detail as a craft to develop his ideas, but he also uses sentence variety with
lots of description through his story. Dahl describing how Billy is being drawn to go to the house
shows his craft for developing his ideas. Billy found himself automatically starting forward into the
house. The compulsion or, more accurately, the desire to follow after her into that house was
extraordinarily strong (2). The way Dahl describes how Billy is feeling the desire to follow the lady
really helps the reader imagine and almost feel the urge that he is. With Dahl s

Abstract
On September 11, 2001 Al Qaeda operatives executed a violent and lethal terrorist attack against the
United States. The attacks against the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, United
Airlines flight 93, and the Pentagon, have collectively been deemed the deadliest terrorist attack to
take place on American soil in the history of the United States. The appalling attacks against New
York City and the nation s capital triggered an immediate assessment of the intelligence community,
existing anti terrorism policies and methodologies, and the overall structure of the United States
intelligence community. More specifically, the federal government began to assess its existing
capabilities to ensure domestic homeland security and enhance the security posture of the United
States. An array of after action reports indicated that communication and collaboration between
varying government agencies was limited and very difficult to navigate. More specifically, intelligence
agencies were extremely restricted and compartmentalized and as a result of such lapses, Al Qaeda
was successful in their attack planning and execution. Although there has been a recognizable
improvement in communication throughout the intelligence community, the United States must evolve

Personal Statement for Energetic Students Entering Hong...
Personal Statement of Mu Yi Tsai I was born in Taiwan where people are passionate and enthusiastic. I
have grown up in a society where people respect and welcome different thoughts and beliefs. Until
2005 my family moved to Guangdong as my father s job requirement. China has been developing
rapidly over the past 20 years. I integrated into Chinese society pretty soon although both are quite
different in many ways. I had made a lot of acquaintance with local students in the schools and had a

By keeping record of my daily life, feelings for the people and comments on the events, I have also
grown to be more aware of my self reflection. This also benefits me on my writing skills as years have
passes through. Furthermore, I have also become more confident in my social life due to the self
encouragement through the diaries. And the most important thing is, I am willing to share my diaries
to my families and friends as a good way to help us recall our memories. Being a very cheerful and
optimistic girl, I have found making people happy especially delights me. As the monitor of the class,
I have organized my peers to show the best in volleyball, basketball and chorus competitions. With
unity and endless efforts, we won the championships finally. I have also designed and created various
kinds of birthday celebrations for my classmates, such as making blessing videos, drawing pictures
and writing blessing words on the board of the class, assembling peers to show blessing words on the
playground. The classmates are often surprised with smiles and tears when facing such special
birthday gifts. This led to a stronger connection among the class and we were literally a big family
within the first year of high school. One thing that makes me a super star in school is that I am the
director of the school radio station. I have devoted myself and even put in my own leisure to make it

Phone Call Texts can be interpreted in many different ways. Phone Call by Berton Roueche, is a short
story drama about a delivery man whose truck breaks down and gets into a bit of trouble. This short
story is a good example of how you can find two very different readings in the same story. The
dominant reading is that the male is innocent and the woman is just paranoid and overly suspicious.
The resistant reading is that the female is innocent and has the right to be suspicious and the male is
guilty with the intent to take advantage of her. In the dominant reading it is told through a first person
male point of view, this positions the audience to believe what the man is saying. The dominant
reading portrays the man as an innocent and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

culture and society through the use of Australian languages, beach culture, customs and etiquette and
through the way that Australians are represented to different audiences. Puberty Blues was set in the

The Effect Of Advance Practice Nurses During The Community...
Abstract
Heart failure (HF) is a debilitating condition that has become a public health problem. There are many
debilitating effects of HF for many people that have to live with this disease. According to Hardin and
Hussey (2003), recognize inadequate patient education, poor symptom control, and insufficient social
support as factors that contribute to preventable HF related hospitalizations (p.p.74). Many people are
frequently hospitalized because of HF exacerbation related to lack of knowledge, poor quality of life
and medication non adherence. This research proposal determines the effect of Advance Practice
Nurse led telephone intervention in the community and how their phone calls would improve the
outcomes of patients with Heart Failure. This proposal identifies variables and measurement levels,
research methodology and conclusion. The results of the research studies will support the idea that
Advanced practice nurses has a positive impact on patients with HF, decreasing HF related hospital
admissions and improving their quality of life.
Introduction
How does telephonic disease management from advanced practice nurses decrease readmissions for
patients with heart failure? The purpose of this study was to determine if patients with Heart Failure
(HF) who received telephone enhanced disease management led by an Advanced Practice Nurse
(APN) would experience fewer HF related hospital admissions and have improved quality of life. The

Labeling Theories And Labeling Theory
Labeling theory focuses on the formal and informal application of stigmatization of deviant labels or
social tags by society on some of its members. The process of labeling involves an engagement of
Social groups [that] create deviance by making the rules whose infraction constitutes deviance, and by
applying those rules to particular people and labeling them as outsiders. From this point of view
deviance is not a quality of the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by
others of rules and sanctions to an offender. (Becker 1963). This theory treats such labels as both
dependent and independent variables. Exclusively, it views labels as dependent or effect variable when
it attempts to explain why certain behaviors are socially defined as wrong and certain individuals are
socially selected and linked to such labels; ultimately, stigmatizing the person as deviant. In contrast,
labeling theory also views labels as the independent factors or causes when it hypothesizes that
discrediting labels cause continuation and escalation of the criminal or delinquent behavior. Labeling
theory tries to explain the differential application of official stigmatizing labels. Labeling theory
emerged as a perspective rather that a scientific theory (Cohn and Farrington 2012). After an initial
enthusiasm in the 60 s and 70 s the theory followed disillusionment in the 90 s. It wasn t until the early
2000 s that scholars tried to revive the theory. The aim of

Descriptive Essay On The Slaughter House
This is absolutely despicable, these are living breathing creatures.
I stared out from the dirty car window and I sat in my parked car across the road from the slaughter
house. Hundreds of cows milled aimlessly with glazed eyes, through dust clouds of the overturned
earth. I watched as several other cars pulled up behind mine, checking in my rear view mirror to see a
familiar face. Bianca in her little yellow bug looked so out of place on this filthy dirt road. Today was
going to be the day we put a stop to the slaughter. Bianca stepped out of her car and I watched as she
slowly walked towards the fence of the slaughter house. A man parked further behind us called out
something illegible but she took no heed.
Ok... this is it.
I jumped out of my little old truck, and sprinted across the road to the gate. Bianca had cut the lock
and stood back as I slammed the gate wide open. The cows stared with starved for attention but
overfed ,eyes in my direction. I ran through the tightly packed animals and shoved over the nearest
feeding trough , motioning to Bianca to come with me. She shook her head and backed away, but held
the gate open. I began to push the nearest bull and he bucked , starting a panic. The animals raced
towards the gate as Bianca pressed herself against it to avoid being trampled. My laugh could be heard
even over the frantic mooing of panicked animals.

Springfield Nor Easters
Ticket Pricing Plan
When trying to determine the right price level for seats at the Nor eastern minor league games,
Buckingham should keep in mind that he is dealing with a very price sensitive audience. The average
income in Springfield is very low, since the city manly consists of working class households. This fact
is backed up by the survey that states that 94% of the respondents had a household income below
$75,000. Therefore regular single tickets shouldn t be priced to high and the overall pricing strategy
should furthermore include generous discounts for certain categories such as students and seniors as
well as fairly cheap season tickets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Families eat a lot, and are therefore big consumers of concession goods, which is one of the biggest
incomes at a game. We want to attract people to the games, and families with only one child (38
percent of the households) can with this ticket bring an extra child .
The group ticket attracts people to come together, we want friends to bring friends to the games,
maybe friend who normally wouldn t go to the game. This would also increase the concession sales.
The survey found that people don t want to pay that much for each ticket if they buy a season ticket,
that s why we have chosen the season ticket prices that we have.
Since our prices are pretty low, and most people are not willing to pay much more for grand stand
seating, we haven t made special prices for these seats.
Break even analysis
Buckingham assumption about concession sales is that it will be about 50 percent of the revenue. We
also assume that 80 percent of the tickets for each game will be sold. Of that, 15 percent are going to
be students, 15 percent will be regular tickets, 5 percent senior tickets and 2 percent child tickets. The
sale of the season ticket, 20 game and the 5 game tickets are respectively 2, 5 and 11 percent. We
assume that 20 percent of tickets sold are family packages, and the last 5 percent is group tickets.
We know that total cost is 1,051,879 and total sponsor income is 46,000. With the pricing plan

Sex Offender Registration System
Since the early 1990s, there has not been a classification of criminals who have been subjected to
more extensive legislation than sex offenders. A common belief that sex offenders posed a greater
threat to reoffend compared to other types of criminals had surfaced, encouraging immediate action to
protect the public from such individuals. In a short amount of time, society had implemented sex
offender registration laws and sex offender notification laws in which sexual offenders would have to
abide by. These innovational registration laws required sex offenders to regularly provide any
identifying details, criminal history, and contact information to law enforcement authorities that would
be made available to the public through the use of secluded registries exclusively for those who

While the United States sex offender registry system is designed to be an effective approach to protect

are too broad, registration periods are too long, community notification laws have resulted in public
harassment against registrants, and residency restrictions exile registrants from entire areas and
support networks needed for rehabilitation (Newburn 550 551). Regardless of any research, it is

Gender Inequality In Boys And Girls By Alice Munro
In Alice Munro s Boys and Girls inequality is a proven action throughout the story. Gender roles and
stereotypes is what occur when the role or behavior is taught to a person as appropriate to their gender.
Alice Munro shows us in the story that in a second someone can change based off of what someone
else thinks they should be and do.
For example in the short story it shows us that women should be in the kitchen and men should be
outside working in the fields and providing for his family. When reading a poem entitled Gender
Inequality by
Ella Linero, it tells us that men and women are put into a system where gender inequality is being
ruled in the world. That men and women had to act a certain way and that women should be feminine
while on the other hand men should only be masculine. The time in which the short story Boys and
Girls took place was a time when men and women were not equal. Mothers had traditional roles,
which often left them working in the house while men also had their roles outside of the house. The
male was the dominate figure while the woman had to be subservient. You didn t see women outside
unless they had to go outside and does something for example, hang the clothes on wires and so on.
Gender Inequality took a toll on women in the early 1950 s.
In the short story Boys and Girls the main character is a young girl who struggles within herself and
also has external struggles as her father tries to change who she is and force her into a gender role that
he thinks is important. Munro does not give the girl a name and by doing this the protagonist is seen as
someone who has no identity and no power. This little girl in the story helps her father in their fox
breading farm which she enjoyed so much. Sadly that all changed for her as she got older and her help
wasn t needed. The narrator had problems coming in to terms with the role she was to lead. She
wanted to work outside with her father doing the work that she only knew to do and this work was so
important to her. But sadly the narrators mother tried to her in to work inside the house which I would
say to wing her off of what she enjoyed so much in the fox farm. The narrator didn t like being in the
house doing what her mother was

the poem develops. The poem talks mostly about a path of life that a person will choose and that they
will have to forever follow that path of life, because they can t change the past no matter how much
they try. In the end, once he s old, he might regret the decision and ponder if he made the right
decision, but he won t be able to do anything in the end because he is a realist. Although there are
many stanzas, the most important stanza is about two roads and how he must make a choice, but he is
unsure of which path he should take. Also, the poem develops in many ways through the attitude of
each stanza because he is dwelling on which path he will take. Between the first stanza to the fifth
stanza, it talks about how he is sorry for how he can t take both roads and that life is forcing him to
choose to go down a path. In the poem it states, And I looked down on as far as I could. To where it
bent in the undergrowth (Frost 4 5). This shows, that this was a monumental part of his life, but if he
chose the wrong path, he might regret it for the rest of his life, so he tries to see beyond, but the
undergrowth blocks his sight. The undergrowth is symbolic because it is about growth of trees and
shrubs like how he must take that path and see for himself what will lie in the end.

What Is Unnatural Essay
For many years Human beings have been trying to define what is natural, and what is not. And we are
getting to the point, to where unnatural is becoming more natural thanks to modern science and
medicine. For instance, If a man wants to become a woman, all they have to do is go to a doctor and
ask them to snip snip if you will. And as long as that person has the money and the medical
insurance/coverage, they can totally do it. But is homosexuality unnatural? I think yes and no. See, we
as human being experience a lot of things. We go through a lot of things. And we are always trying to
seek to figure out more about ourselves. But the thing that I have found is that what you define as
unnatural is based off of what you view as natural or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it is ultimately up to you if you want to engage in that. We have no place to honestly judge
someone by their actions or lifestyle. Only God can do that. It is our job as human beings to instead of
shunning them for who they choose to be, we love on them, we develop mature relationship with
them, and we show them the true love of God. One that is non judgmental, nor condemning. But one
of understanding and loving. And show that we are not your typical bible thumpers, but that we
understand what they are feeling, though we may not agree with it, we show that we accept them for
who they are. See, we are supposed to be a light to the lost. How are we being that if we are constantly
shunning people from our churches, and lives, for being what they chose to be. Like I said, we do not
have to agree with their lifestyle, but we sure can love them through it, and eventually show them a
better way.
So, is Homosexuality unnatural? No. Everyone experiences their own kind of feelings whether of
lustful desires, or other reasons. It s human nature to be sexual beings. But it all comes down to if you
want to act on those desires and feelings or

Executive Branch Essay
The comparison of a state with great plains and a state with mighty mountains seems unimaginable
but very possible, at least on governmental standpoint. The great state of Illinois and one of the
original state, North Carolina, have set up a state government very similar to the federal government
and similar to each other. Their comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and
executive branches.
There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president, and the cabinet.
The president is the head of the U.S. executive branch, but in state executive branches the governor is
the head honcho. Every State in America has a governor that is the chief executive of the state,

legislative branch typically is a bicameral system. The only exception to this is the state of Nebraska
which only has a senate and not a house of representatives. The legislative power of the state of
Illinois is vested in the General Assembly, which is composed of a 59 member Senate and a 118
member House of Representatives. North Carolina s Senate has 50 members and their House of
Representatives has 120 members. After those blaring differences Illinois and North Carolina s
Legislature branches are quite similar. Their regular activities are enacting, amending or repealing
laws, passing resolutions, adopting appropriation bills and conducting inquiries on proposed
legislation. Both states legislation acts on amendments to the U.S. Constitution when they are
submitted by Congress, and proposes and submits amendments to the Illinois Constitution for
consideration by voter. During the scenario of an impeachment, both states House of Representatives
has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate serves as adjudicator. If a majority of the
members of the House vote to impeach, the case proceeds to the Senate for trial. The Senate cannot
impose any punishment on an impeached and convicted office holder other than removal from office.
These two states show multiple similarities in the legislative branch and very few differences.
As anyone can tell the two great states of Illinois and North Carolina have many similarities and
differences in their legislative and executive branches of state government. Overall, one thing is sure
these two states contribute the magnificents of the greatest nation on earth; The United States of

Comparing Goffman s Stigma And Social Identity
Stigma and Social Identity, is one of the chapters from a book called Stigma: Notes on the
Management of Spoiled Identity written by Erving Goffman that discuss in depth about stigma.
Firstly, in this chapter, Goffman discuss about the origins of the word stigma from the Greeks and
Christian perspective that tend to define stigma as bodily evidence of unusualness. Nowadays, the
word stigma is use to label disgrace rather than the bodily evidence of it. There are three types of
stigmas; physical defects, blemishes of individual character and tribal stigmata of race, color and
religion. All of these stigmas can deteriorate the claims of normality .
Besides, in this chapter, Goffman discuss on how people in a society tend to unconsciously ... Show

He saw stigma as a procedure based on social construction of identity. Besides, he also analyzed the
effects of stigma on people and even individuals. In this article it shows on how people who have been
stigmatized internalized the stigma that they had and how it can affects their behavior. Stigma can
cause many negative consequences that can lead people to engage in maladaptive behaviors that can
also lead to mental illnesses. It is really important for us to realize that every human is just human
being and it is really important to accept people the way they

National Incident Management System Response Paper
The Critical infrastructure, or CI, is a subcategory of infrastructure that includes those assets, systems,
and networks, whether physical or virtual, which are so vital that their failure or destruction would
have a debilitating impact on security, governance, public health and safety, public confidence,
commerce, or other societal factors (Bullock, Haddow, Coppola, 2016). According to the 2013 US
National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) there are 16 of these sectors and throughout this paper
we will discuss a cyber attack on the water supply sector. The best way to discuss the above will be
through the evaluation of the impact that a cyber attack could have on our water supply, and the

49). In order for all of the leaders of the different infrastructures to be successful at eliminating or
mitigating such attacks they will need a common form of communication as all of their systems have
been proven to affect each other. One tool to help eliminate such communication barriers is the
National Incident Management System (NIMS). This system is a standardized management plan that
provides a core set of concepts for incident command and multi agency coordination during
emergency response (Kamien, 2012, p. 486). With such systems as NIMS the government realized that
no one system can work without the other and if one fails they all fail causing wide spread panic and
various other hurdles for emergency responders to respond to. It is up to the government to realize that
our world is no longer ran manually, but rather digitally so that we can better prepare for possible
cyber attacks on our key critical infrastructures.
Throughout this research we have shown the affects of a cyber attack on our water supply. We have
also evaluated the impact that a cyber attack could have on our water supply. Lastly we looked at the
probable third and fourth order effects from the cyber attack on this critical infrastructure to include
the effects on other critical infrastructures that may be affected by the initial cyber attack. If we do not
take the actions of those who seek to harm us through either a physical attack or cyber attack seriously
and work as a team we will fail as a

Financial Analysis On Financial Statements
Firm Performance: A Review of Financial Statements Financial crises like dot com bubble in the late
1990s and the housing market crash in the late 2000s prompted investors, and firms, to reconsider the
criticality of financial discipline. Transparency would be necessary to entice investors to spend money
again, thus a firm s financial statements became their marketing tools. These examples reinforce the
importance of financial statements relation to the financial wellbeing of a company. This paper serves
as a report on the purpose and aspects of the various financial statements and their applicability to the
performance of a firm.
Income Statements
Income statements, also known as profit and loss statements, are one of the core financial statements
publicly held firms must present annually. Serving as the officially documented representation of
company expenses and revenues over a set duration, the income statement is often used to assess the
performance and profitability of a company (Alvis, n.d.). The key expense items included on an
income statement are: general and administrative expenses (G A), research and development expenses,
depreciation/amortization, and cost of revenue (Alphabet, 2014).
The crucial importance behind the income statement lies in its ability to lay out the relevant facts in a
simplistic manner. By reviewing a company s income statement, one can instantaneously ascertain the
financial productivity of a company and their current

Reflection On Dirac Theory
After the Shanghai trip, I felt charged and refreshed ready to tackle the most important project in my
life. While I buried myself in a deep pile of monographs related to quantum field theory and Dirac
Theory, Ying, on the other hand, worked on a more practical front. After several months hard work, he
was able to tie things together and ready to go on with the most critical stage in his program to
perform the experiment. I hope my balance will push the measurement of the gravitational constant G
into a new high, he said at our usual evening stroll. Is it going to be a knockout? I hope so, said he
with a firm tone. But more important objective for me is will get my degree in the shortest time among
all the current graduates in the lab. Why rush? You started your Ph.D. less than one and an half year
ago not counting the first half year you had been here. As your project going well, I am sure you will.
I need to finish the experiment soon. This Sunday I can show you how my balance works. I was
almost as excited as Ying was. But the moment of truth was yet to come, as he performed the
experiment. After that, computations, calibrations of the result would tell if the project was a success
or a failure. Anxiety in our works took over our lives, and everything else stopped its existence.
Sundays were a good time with fewer people in the lab, there was less chance of disturbing for the
procedure. On Sunday morning I accompanied Ying to the lab. He had made a

Jack Rabbit Monologue
Jack Rabbit was getting old and unnecessary noise was a nuisance. With his ears standing taller than
ever, the sounds of the forest echoed louder each night as dawn set in. Timothy Toad was the first to
start his bellowing croak that sounded like a burp on steroids. Gretchen Grasshopper would join in by
opening her wings and stroking them together musically to serenade her beloved friends. Carlson
Cardinal would sing out, pretty girl, pretty girl, pretty girl, until Jack would have enough and shout
out, Shut up, shut up, shut up! All would go silent and then within minutes the rhythmic sounds would
start up again. Every night was like being at a symphony concert at New York City s Carnegie Hall
with drums, violins and opera singers chiming in to annoy Jack. Night after night the same music
would begin with Timothy s friends croaking, Gretchen s friends fiddling and Carlson s friends
chirping. If there was a full moon the band played on for longer hours and Margie Mosquito and Ollie
Owl would throw in their tunes to help out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

we enjoy doing. I wish you would join us and find your voice in music. Please come by tonight and

Fingerprinting Identification and Understanding the Term Daubert Hearing
From the early days, with little literary reference material, to the current day, with substantially more,
but still insufficient formation, the science of fingerprint identification has managed to maintain its
credibility and usefulness. Although, academic institutions have yet to recognize the field as an
applied science and include it in the curricula, which would provide directed research and literary
reference, in libraries. Without this academic recognition, progress in the field of fingerprint is
destined to be sluggish. Description of fingerprint identification as a forensic science or an ~app1ied
science in no way implies that is not a reliable science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daubert s opinion states that: the Federal Rules of Evidence superseded General Acceptance tests for
admissibility of novel scientific evidence. Prior to the Daubert hearing from 1923 until 1993 the rigid
general acceptance test, which arose from Ftye v. United States, 293 f2d. 1013 (D.C. Cir. 1923) is at
odds with the liberal thrust of the Federal Rules of Evidence. It is the trial judge that must still screen
scientific evidence to ensure it is relevant and reliable to be used in the court of law. The focus, of
courts, must be solely on principles and methodology, not on the conclusions they generate. The court
should consider factors but by no means exclusive criteria in fulfilling its responsibilities by 1) Testing
and validation of the theory or technique and what are the results 2) Has peer review being done on
the theory or technique or publication on such result. 3) What is the known rate of error or potential on
the theory or technique, and 4) what is the general acceptance or widespread acceptance of this theory
or technique.

Greek and Roman Concepts of Citizenship and Government The definition of citizenship in Greek and
Roman cultures can be described much differently than the current democratic definition of
contemporary nations. The Roman Empire differed from the Athenian Amphictyony and the Assyrian
Empire as well as the sunder later emperors such as Vespasian. There were also structural problems
within the government of the Roman Empire. This paper will explore the models of government and
citizenship that Ancient Roman and Greek peoples employed along with how well they worked.

( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). They were responsible for establishing the type of government called a
republic. A republic is a type of government that expects an active role from every citizen, not just the
politicians in power. Each citizen was responsible for electing representatives that would rule on their
behalf. The citizens were the focus of the Roman Republic. The status of a citizen evolved
dramatically throughout the Roman Republic. All males over 15 that were true descendants of the
original tribe became citizens ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). Full citizens of Rome had many
privileges such as voting, practicing commerce, holding public office, and marrying freeborn citizens
to name a few. Some citizens that were not considered full citizens maintained some rights, but could
not vote or hold office. A third type of citizen could not hold office or marry free born women but
could practice commerce and vote. Citizens rights would change throughout the Roman republic, but
the republic aspect did not change. An important aspect of the Roman Government was the Senate.
The Senate was first set up as a group of 100, then later the Roman Kings expanded the group to 300 (
Ancient Civilizations , 2014). The senate convened and passed laws and practiced skills that would
help to persuade ruling bodies. The Roman Empire was in a location that benefited the empire s
defense against enemies. The location of the Roman Empire in the Mediterranean

  • 2. Pro Life Vs Pro Choice Debate Kayla Weekes English 10B Honors Mrs. Kim Miles The Pro Life vs Pro Choice Debate History of Abortion The 1973 court case Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision for United States history, and it still remains very controversial today. The Court ruled that the right to privacy applied to a woman s choice to have an abortion, therefore legalizing the action. Abortion is officially defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Today there are two groups continuing this battle, pro life and pro choice . People who define themselves as pro life believe that abortion is unethical and insist that the Roe v. Wade decision be overturned. On the other side of the battle, pro choicers fight to get even more liberation for women. Pro choice Argument The main argument of pro choicers is that women should be responsible for anything involving their own body, because no one else is living her life, and...she will have to live with [her] decision [to have an abortion] (Pollitt 12). The government isn t affected by a woman having an abortion, so they shouldn t be involved in the decision. Although they re pleased that abortion is legal in the United States, present day supporters are still pushing for modifications to the 1973 Supreme Court ruling: Roe v. Wade was all about privacy, but the most private parts of a woman s body and the most private decisions she will ever make have never been more public (Pollitt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The documentary shows a strict hierarchy of teachers and students. The schools apply wide ranging regulations on students. Students have to attend school with the uniform. Students cannot enter teachers office and can only call teachers using the beeper at the entrance. Teachers teach them how to behave in consonance with school regulations and common virtues. • 5. The Holocaust s Effect on the German Jew Essay Adolf Hitler came to power over Germany in January of 1933. He hated Jews and blamed them for everything bad that had ever happened to Germany. Hitler s goal in life was to eliminate the Jewish population. With his rise to power in Germany, he would put into action his plan of elimination. This is not only why German Jews were the main target of the Holocaust, but why they were a large part of the years before, during, and after the Holocaust. Hitler s final solution almost eliminated the Jewish population in Europe during World War II. At the end of the war and along with his suicide, the Jewish population would survive the horror known as the Holocaust and the Jews would eventually find their way back to their homeland of Israel ... Even though this was not a violent treatment of the Jews, it was an attempt to bankrupt and dehumanize them of everything they had worked for their whole lives (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). As a result, Jews became a segregated people. They had to ride on buses and trains only in the seat that were clearly marked for them (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). Jewish children were allowed to be bullied at school in an attempt to keep them from coming to school. Hitler used this to brand the Jews as a lazy people (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). The Nuremberg Laws passed in 1935 gave even more power to the Nazis and took away more dignity of the Jews. The Jews were stripped of their German citizenship and marriages between Jews and non Jews were not allowed (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). At this point, the Jews who could afford to pay a fine to leave the country were allowed to do so, but the ones who could not afford it had to stay behind and were not allowed to get food or medicine (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). Hitler s campaign against the Jews escalated in 1938 with Krystalnacht The Night of the Broken Glass (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). After a Nazi diplomat was found shot to death, Hitler began a seven day war of terror against the Jews (Jews in Nazi Germany pg. 2). • 6. Judge Haselton s Case Summary In May of 1998, Kipland Kinkel brought a gun to his school. Over the course of two days this escalated from: being sent home, to murdering his father and mother, to murdering 2 students and wounding 26, earning a lifetime sentence of 111 years and 8 months in prison. In the court case being examined, the presiding judge addresses the original case, defendants ground for appeal, and the justification for the State s decision to deny the appeal. Judge Haselton effectively uses ethos, logos, and pathos to support the Higher Court s decision to deny the appeal because the original sentence was constitutional and just. Summary In State of Oregon v. Kipland Kinkel, Judge Haselton summarizes the decision to deny Kinkel s appeal of his sentencing. Kinkel was sentenced by the Lower Court to 111 years and 8 months for the confession of 4 murders and 25 accounts of attempted murder. Several medical personal and parents testified against Kinkel at the hearing stating that, he is and remains dangerous, (para. 15). The defense s grounds for appeal consist of the sentencing being cruel and unusual and that the protection of society was considered more than reformation. The higher court denied it was cruel and unusual because it did not shock the conscience. The presiding judge also denied that reformation was of higher significance than the protection of society because there were multiple victims affected in a public setting. Throughout the story, Billy is not aware and conscientious of his immediate surroundings. When Billy is walking down the street and sees the landlady s sign, he seems to be drawn into the house. BED AND BREAKFAST, it said. BED AND BREAKFAST, BED AND BREAKFAST. Each word was like a large black eye staring at him through the glass. These words are holding him compelling him forcing him to stay where he was and not to walk away from that house (2). This does not even make Billy have the slightest doubt about anything. Dahl uses the sensory detail of sight to draw in the reader to the sign as it did to Billy when Billy keeps repeating what the sign said over and over again. Dahl not only uses sensory detail as a craft to develop his ideas, but he also uses sentence variety with lots of description through his story. Dahl describing how Billy is being drawn to go to the house shows his craft for developing his ideas. Billy found himself automatically starting forward into the house. Strengthening the Homeland Security Enterprise through Intelligence Reform and Integration Kevin Weston HM598: Applied Research Project Capstone Professor: Mary Lannon 15 June 2015 Abstract On September 11, 2001 Al Qaeda operatives executed a violent and lethal terrorist attack against the United States. The attacks against the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, United Airlines flight 93, and the Pentagon, have collectively been deemed the deadliest terrorist attack to take place on American soil in the history of the United States. The appalling attacks against New York City and the nation s capital triggered an immediate assessment of the intelligence community, existing anti terrorism policies and methodologies, and the overall structure of the United States intelligence community. More specifically, the federal government began to assess its existing capabilities to ensure domestic homeland security and enhance the security posture of the United States. An array of after action reports indicated that communication and collaboration between varying government agencies was limited and very difficult to navigate. More specifically, intelligence agencies were extremely restricted and compartmentalized and as a result of such lapses, Al Qaeda was successful in their attack planning and execution. • 16. Labeling Theories And Labeling Theory Labeling theory focuses on the formal and informal application of stigmatization of deviant labels or social tags by society on some of its members. The process of labeling involves an engagement of Social groups [that] create deviance by making the rules whose infraction constitutes deviance, and by applying those rules to particular people and labeling them as outsiders. From this point of view deviance is not a quality of the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender. (Becker 1963). This theory treats such labels as both dependent and independent variables. Exclusively, it views labels as dependent or effect variable when it attempts to explain why certain behaviors are socially defined as wrong and certain individuals are socially selected and linked to such labels; ultimately, stigmatizing the person as deviant. In contrast, labeling theory also views labels as the independent factors or causes when it hypothesizes that discrediting labels cause continuation and escalation of the criminal or delinquent behavior. Labeling theory tries to explain the differential application of official stigmatizing labels. Labeling theory emerged as a perspective rather that a scientific theory (Cohn and Farrington 2012). After an initial enthusiasm in the 60 s and 70 s the theory followed disillusionment in the 90 s. It wasn t until the early 2000 s that scholars tried to revive the theory. The aim of ... • 17. Descriptive Essay On The Slaughter House This is absolutely despicable, these are living breathing creatures. I stared out from the dirty car window and I sat in my parked car across the road from the slaughter house. Hundreds of cows milled aimlessly with glazed eyes, through dust clouds of the overturned earth. I watched as several other cars pulled up behind mine, checking in my rear view mirror to see a familiar face. Bianca in her little yellow bug looked so out of place on this filthy dirt road. Today was going to be the day we put a stop to the slaughter. Bianca stepped out of her car and I watched as she slowly walked towards the fence of the slaughter house. A man parked further behind us called out something illegible but she took no heed. Ok... this is it. I jumped out of my little old truck, and sprinted across the road to the gate. Bianca had cut the lock and stood back as I slammed the gate wide open. The cows stared with starved for attention but overfed ,eyes in my direction. I ran through the tightly packed animals and shoved over the nearest feeding trough , motioning to Bianca to come with me. She shook her head and backed away, but held the gate open. I began to push the nearest bull and he bucked , starting a panic. The animals raced towards the gate as Bianca pressed herself against it to avoid being trampled. My laugh could be heard even over the frantic mooing of panicked animals. Take this you inhumane bast****! A shout echoed through the compound and I turned around quickly to see ... Pricing Strategy, Springfield Noreasters Essays Kari Lutro Jesper Sehested Jensen Chris Reinecke Wilkendorff Springfield Nor Easters Ticket Pricing Plan When trying to determine the right price level for seats at the Nor eastern minor league games, Buckingham should keep in mind that he is dealing with a very price sensitive audience. The average income in Springfield is very low, since the city manly consists of working class households. This fact is backed up by the survey that states that 94% of the respondents had a household income below $75,000. Therefore regular single tickets shouldn t be priced to high and the overall pricing strategy should furthermore include generous discounts for certain categories such as students and seniors as well as fairly cheap season tickets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Families eat a lot, and are therefore big consumers of concession goods, which is one of the biggest incomes at a game. We want to attract people to the games, and families with only one child (38 percent of the households) can with this ticket bring an extra child . The group ticket attracts people to come together, we want friends to bring friends to the games, maybe friend who normally wouldn t go to the game. This would also increase the concession sales. The survey found that people don t want to pay that much for each ticket if they buy a season ticket, that s why we have chosen the season ticket prices that we have. Since our prices are pretty low, and most people are not willing to pay much more for grand stand seating, we haven t made special prices for these seats. Break even analysis Buckingham assumption about concession sales is that it will be about 50 percent of the revenue. We also assume that 80 percent of the tickets for each game will be sold. Of that, 15 percent are going to be students, 15 percent will be regular tickets, 5 percent senior tickets and 2 percent child tickets. The sale of the season ticket, 20 game and the 5 game tickets are respectively 2, 5 and 11 percent. • 19. Sex Offender Registration System Since the early 1990s, there has not been a classification of criminals who have been subjected to more extensive legislation than sex offenders. A common belief that sex offenders posed a greater threat to reoffend compared to other types of criminals had surfaced, encouraging immediate action to protect the public from such individuals. In a short amount of time, society had implemented sex offender registration laws and sex offender notification laws in which sexual offenders would have to abide by. These innovational registration laws required sex offenders to regularly provide any identifying details, criminal history, and contact information to law enforcement authorities that would be made available to the public through the use of secluded registries exclusively for those who commit acts of sexual violence. ... • 21. Gender Inequality In Boys And Girls By Alice Munro In Alice Munro s Boys and Girls inequality is a proven action throughout the story. Gender roles and stereotypes is what occur when the role or behavior is taught to a person as appropriate to their gender. Alice Munro shows us in the story that in a second someone can change based off of what someone else thinks they should be and do. For example in the short story it shows us that women should be in the kitchen and men should be outside working in the fields and providing for his family. When reading a poem entitled Gender Inequality by Ella Linero, it tells us that men and women are put into a system where gender inequality is being ruled in the world. That men and women had to act a certain way and that women should be feminine while on the other hand men should only be masculine. The time in which the short story Boys and Girls took place was a time when men and women were not equal. Mothers had traditional roles, which often left them working in the house while men also had their roles outside of the house. The male was the dominate figure while the woman had to be subservient. You didn t see women outside unless they had to go outside and does something for example, hang the clothes on wires and so on. Gender Inequality took a toll on women in the early 1950 s. In the short story Boys and Girls the main character is a young girl who struggles within herself and also has external struggles as her father tries to change who she is and force her into a gender role that he thinks is important. Munro does not give the girl a name and by doing this the protagonist is seen as someone who has no identity and no power. This little girl in the story helps her father in their fox breading farm which she enjoyed so much. Sadly that all changed for her as she got older and her help wasn t needed. The narrator had problems coming in to terms with the role she was to lead. She wanted to work outside with her father doing the work that she only knew to do and this work was so important to her. But sadly the narrators mother tried to her in to work inside the house which I would say to wing her off of what she enjoyed so much in the fox farm. • 22. The Path Of Life In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken In the poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost, as the poem advances, the author s attitude and choices are revealed as the poem develops. The poem is all about choices and what his attitude is as the poem develops. The poem talks mostly about a path of life that a person will choose and that they will have to forever follow that path of life, because they can t change the past no matter how much they try. In the end, once he s old, he might regret the decision and ponder if he made the right decision, but he won t be able to do anything in the end because he is a realist. Although there are many stanzas, the most important stanza is about two roads and how he must make a choice, but he is unsure of which path he should take. Also, the poem develops in many ways through the attitude of each stanza because he is dwelling on which path he will take. Between the first stanza to the fifth stanza, it talks about how he is sorry for how he can t take both roads and that life is forcing him to choose to go down a path. In the poem it states, And I looked down on as far as I could. To where it bent in the undergrowth (Frost 4 5). This shows, that this was a monumental part of his life, but if he chose the wrong path, he might regret it for the rest of his life, so he tries to see beyond, but the undergrowth blocks his sight. The undergrowth is symbolic because it is about growth of trees and shrubs like how he must take that path and see for himself what will lie in the end. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, If a man wants to become a woman, all they have to do is go to a doctor and ask them to snip snip if you will. And as long as that person has the money and the medical insurance/coverage, they can totally do it. But is homosexuality unnatural? I think yes and no. In order for all of the leaders of the different infrastructures to be successful at eliminating or mitigating such attacks they will need a common form of communication as all of their systems have been proven to affect each other. This system is a standardized management plan that provides a core set of concepts for incident command and multi agency coordination during emergency response (Kamien, 2012, p. 486).
