Comparing Black And Brown Cultures
Both Black and Brown cultures seem to share a lot of common similarities and differences with each
other such as, friendships, family orientations, and/or religious traditions. From the people I had the
privileged to interview, have certainly granted me a much firmer grasp of the valid idea of what Black
culture, or Black societies seem to stem from. I was given the impression that young Black boys, and
girls tend to be taught survivalist values and beliefs, in order to be more independently strong, and
capable to looking out for themselves in any situation. The phrase that I learned to be very important,
and to always have on your belt as an African American, is to have some good Street Smarts . That
can be traced back to the previous topic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Survivalist s, is something I could label Black culture philosophy because of their strong sense of will,
and strong believe in the word of God. It is apparent that their motives, and their reality seems to have
close ties to their Christian believes. The Grandparents, teach their children those same traditions that
are then passed down to the next generation to mold them, and to keep those same traditional values.
Brown cultures do things somewhat similarly, but they are not as strict in church dress code as Black
culture is. Brown cultures love cookout gatherings; that would consist of Tacos, Posole, Menudo, or
Tamales. These are Mexican cuisines that are passed down from Mexico, to every family s next
generations to come. However, Black cultures would prefer more of Ribs, Brisket, some Chicken,
Pork (Ham), or Links in those kinds of environments. Also, sauces and dressings are a key part of
Black culture as much as the food is. This is also something of a traditional kind of delicacies for both
sides, which takes place every weekend, especially somewhere in the Oakcliff

All people have a particular idea of themselves. The idea of who they are and who they are not. The
way people lead an everyday life within an environment and interactions with other human beings
make them feel closer connected to some groups of people and different from others. How feeling
similarity and difference in society affects ability to attain a positive sense of self and meaning are an
important questions within psychology. Theory of social identity constructed by Tajfel and
psychosocial theory of identity created by Erik Erikson are two of theories which give answer to this
question.
Tajfel and Erikson(ref) defined identity as two dimensional, containing personal and social part. Both
believed that to evolve identity people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiment showed that students felt inmediately identified with ingrouppers and cosider
outgrouppers as concurrency. Tajfel explained that only knowing u are part of group without intention
to be in group or gaining something is enough for people to feel diversity which leads to
discriminating of outgroup and prioritizing ingroup in order to highlight group s status. Tajfel showed
how membership of group can make us see differences and get to know who we are and where we
belong to by commiting to rules of group. The final stage is comparing own group with other ones. If
there is chance of changing identity people tend to move from lower valuated to higher valuated group
for example work position.
If there is no chance of changing identity due it was given to us race gender etc and people feel their
group is devaluated they can take an action. People try to creatively highlight positive characteristics
of ingroup comparing to other groups.

Erikson concentrated on personal part and argued that uniqueness of individual is major for evolvment
of identity.Eriksons psychosocial theory focus on process of shaping identity within individuals rather
than within society. according to erikson building and achieving of identity is a life long process of
self discovering during which evolving of identity is achieved. Erikson believes during this

Psychological Consequences of Earthquakes
Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and cyclones, floods, and tornadoes are some of the
traumatic experiences that may cause posttraumatic stress disorders. This type of disorders and other
disaster related psychological problems are prevalent after natural disasters. As a result it is important
to analyse those individuals that develop psychological problems especially to prepare and plan
interventions both in the short and long term after disaster (Coşkun, Coşkun, 2000, p: 68).
Earthquakes have quickly become one of the most highlighted natural disasters. Unlike other natural
disasters, earthquakes occur without warning, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people, and damaged or destroyed more than 100.000 homes and many survivors showed the
symptoms of disorders and post traumatic stress disorders (Chen et al., 2007). Researches showed that
the rates of post traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and minor psychiatric morbidity in the
early stage after the Chi Chi earthquake were 37%, 16%, and 89.9%, respectively (Chen et al., 2001
p:13). On the other hand another study showed that the psychiatric disorder among Chi Chi
earthquake survivors within 6 months of the disaster reported that the prevalence rates of post
traumatic stress disorders and major depression were 7.9% and 9.5% respectively (Chou et al., 2005).
The risk factor of post traumatic stress disorder included female sex, lower educational level, and
greater trauma exposure (Lai et al., 2004). In the research Chen et al. found that two year follow up of
the Chi Chi earthquake stressed on that the long term impact of a major disaster on the survivors. They
also found that the prevalence of psychiatric problems after a severe earthquake in Taiwan was
comparable with the post disaster rate reported elsewhere (Chen et al., 2007) and can be compared
with the earthquake in Turkey in same year.

Framing and Agenda Setting Bias in News Media Essay
Framing and Agenda Setting Bias in News Media
The Hutchinson Commission on freedom of the press best defined news in 1947 as a truthful,
comprehensive, and intelligent account of the day s events in a context which gives them meaning.
Journalism in today s news is not the same as it was over half a century ago. The Fairness Doctrine,
which was eliminated in 1987, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses to both
present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was, in the Federal
Communications Commission s view, honest, equitable and balanced. The Doctrine obligated
broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public policy and to
air contrasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Media coverage reflects the media s agenda. The agenda setting theory predicts that people will place
importance on issues to which they are exposed. Agenda setting by the media tells us what to think
about public opinion about what should be on the public agenda is heavily influenced by the topics
and issues that appear in the news (Glenn G. Sparks , 2012). The type of news people select often
takes the form of opinionated entertainment rather than politically oriented information because some
of this information is simply not presented. All the reporters in the world working all the hours of the
day could not witness all the happenings in the world (Lippmann, 1922, p. 183). Limitations such as
distance, time constraints, and subjectivity challenge the media.
Controversy surrounding Kim Kardashian s pregnancy and the Paula Deen Scandal are both excellent
examples of agenda setting in action. The media is ever present for these stories as if they are
significant events. The placement of full page, color articles and top stories on news programming
makes it clear that Americans should place these events as important issues. There are numerous
articles and reports about Kardashian naming her child North West. There are news channels that
portray that Deen just made a mistake and is genuinely sorry for her choice of words while some
channels try to reveal that she really is racist and she only

A Study Of Non Invasive Measurement Techniques
Abstract Diabetes is considered to be one of the major health care epidemics of modern era. The
determination of blood glucose concentration using the self monitoring blood glucose devices
involves the chemical analysis of blood samples taken by pricking the finger or extracting blood from
forearm. The pain, discomfort and inconvenience in the current invasive method have led to the
feasibility study of non invasive measurement techniques.
In this paper, an optical method using NIR technique based on occlusion spectroscopy is used which
shows that it can be possible to measure glucose concentration in blood non invasively.
Keywords: Non invasive, spectroscopy, euglycemia, hypoglycaemia.
By using the Monte Carlo method, Katsuhiko et al. (2003) has developed a non invasive system using
near infrared [4]. To detect the glucose level, fibre optic probes was developed that consist of a source
and detector optical fibres. Both source and detector are separated by 0.65 mm, placed on the skin
surface. They reported that the correlation coefficient of blood glucose predicted by near infrared and
finger prick was 0.928 with a standard error of prediction of 32.2 mg/dL [4]. Another research based
on near infrared has been done by Ilan Gabriely, MD et al. (1999) [5].
They were using transcutaneous near infrared spectroscopy system to monitor blood glucose levels
during euglycemia and hypoglycaemia. The results proved that near infrared can be used to predict the

In a home much like your home, a man sits at his kitchen table; his hands shake and sweat lines his
brow. The man lives in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and he has just received information regarding the
amount of fallout protection his home would provide his family in the event of a nuclear attack. The
Bureau of the Census provided the information as part of the Home Shelter Survey. The report was not
what the man wanted to hear. The protection factor of the man s basement was nowhere near the
recommended minimum of forty. The man thought of how scared his wife was; he just wanted her to

Isolating and identifying major motivating factors in the complex global landscape of the Cold War is,
without a doubt, difficult, but in the case of the Minuteman Missiles and the Amit Ballistic Missile
System, three factors can be identified. The major shift in Vietnam policy, a growth in counter culture
and willingness to protest, and the decreased influence of the Catholic Church in North Dakota over
the six year period between the installation of Minuteman Missiles and the installation of the Anti
Ballistic Missile all contributed to an increase in protest in 1970. The birth of civil defense in the
United States was slow, painful, and it almost ended before it began. The Office of Civil Defence was
created on May 20, 1941, with the primary purpose of evaluating civil defense programs in other
countries. As a result of this evaluation, civil defense was deemed unnecessary, and the office was
slated to close just two years after its creation. The office clung to life for two additional years until it
was closed in 1945, and, with it, the idea of civil defense in the United States appeared to die. It was
not until 1950 that President Truman would breath new life into civil defense for the United States.
Truman created the Federal Civil Defence Administration with the purpose of minimising the effects
of a nuclear attack, dealing with the immediate effect of said attack, and aiding in the national

Application Of A Desktop Study
Desktop Study
A desktop study, as its name implies, can be done entirely from a computer and is often the first step
in preliminary site investigations. The process of a desktop study involves correlating background
information about the site that will affect the design and construction; from a desk study a large
amount of relevant information can be gathered, such as: local context (i.e. what is near to the site, the
aesthetic of the surrounding buildings); archaeology (beneath the surface of a site there may be
unexploded bombs, remnants of old structures etc.); easements (the rights attached to neighbouring
lands, for example right to light); the likelihood of contaminated soil (which we know we do have on
our site); site ecology (the surrounding environment and how it coexists together). Having this
knowledge of the site before any work has begun allows for easier planning later as obstacles that
could have been a costly surprise later can be solved with much better efficiency.
The process of a desktop study could also involve looking at OS (ordnance survey) maps of the site
which can reveal the previous usage of the site as well as drainage and much more. Geological maps
can show what the ground conditions are like on site and if there is any risk of, for example,
subsidence occurring or if it already has. Service maps can be inspected to find hidden services, for
example telephone cables or drainage. The findings of previous surveys, if they exist, can also be
found

Sarah Baartman
Cultural Studies I Sarah Baartman and the Politics of Looking
The expropriation and appropriation of Sarah Baartman by the colonial and capitalist gaze has lasted
long enough. It is not a good idea to create new images of her, because each new image repeats and
continues the past exploitation and humiliation of her body.
In the article The arena of imaginings: Sarah Bartmann and the ethics of representation, Rosemarie
Buikema looks into the controversy around Willie Bester s statue of Sarah Baartman. The statue, made
by a South African artist, was put in the library of the University of Cape Town s Science and
Engineering Department. To my surprise, the exhibition of the statue in a Science and Engineering

The intention of the artist was fully honourable, however, what he intended to come across did not
come across to these people. For the ethics of representation it is important to see whether it is
possible to represent something or someone without creating negative ideas and feelings because of it.
Sarah Baartman was exploited during her life and it is now key to see whether she can be represented
in a way that does not reproduce the sexism and racism she encountered in her life. An example of an
image of Sarah Baartman that does represent her in an ethical manner is the statue by Willie Bester. As
argued before, at the material level of the statue it is made clear that the relation between signifiers
and signifieds is ethical. The recycled material, which stands for the many contexts her body
circulated in during her life. The use of iron indicates the metal industry and motor technology, which
is traditionally a masculine domain. And probably the most important connotation, as mentioned
before as well, the recycled material shows that there is, and was, absolutely nothing natural about
Sarah Baartman s body. (Buikema, 2009) Images of people like Sarah Baartman are shown so that we
do not forget the tragic history of these people. The sculpture of Sarah Baartman made by Willie
Bester was made with the intent to raise awareness for the dehumanizing practices in South African

I Disagree With Kenneth Waltz’S Positionthat Nuclear...
I disagree with Kenneth Waltz s position that nuclear proliferation makes the world a safer place, and
how best to measure the spread of nuclear weapons, particularly in regimes that are developing,
unstable, or third world. 1 While some scholars see nuclear weapons as a threat to stability and peace
due to their mass destruction capability and the potential for horrific fallout triggered by ethnic and
geopolitical instability, others see those weapons as holding the power to maintain an appropriate
balance of power between opposing regimes at times of tension and during periods of low level
conflict. This debate is reflected in international relations.
Waltz argues that nuclear weapons keep the world secure, as states would not take the ... Show more

As for second strike deterrence, Waltz states that there are two necessities: survival of a first attack
and the ability to inflict sufficient damage. Without absolute certainty of destruction of the opposition
s arsenal, a country would be less likely to attack. Because of uncertainty about the size of another
country s arsenal size, nations would not take the risk of retaliation; Even the largest states recoil from
taking adventurous steps if the price of failure is the possible loss of a city or two 1. The problem I see
with this position is that nations may sometimes benefit from spotting signatures that are carelessly
sent to enemy intelligence agencies which may inadvertently reveal secret information about the size
and location of otherwise hidden military forces. For example, Pakistani road construction crews
inadvertently signaled the location of secret M 11 missiles by placing wide radius roads at Sargodha
Missile Base . The failure of the Soviet military to keep its 1962 missile deployment in Cuba secret
was similarly caused by construction crew routines that produced signatures which highlighted the
location of the missiles. The Star of David pattern of air defense missile battery placements and slash
marks on missile pads gave away the Cuban secret to the Americans.
Regarding the accidental use of nuclear weapons, Waltz dismisses this

Attempts to Connect in Joyce Carol Oates Shopping Essay
Attempts to Connect in Shopping
Although Shopping, written by Joyce Carol Oates, is fiction, the story portrays a relationship that
represents many parents and children have in real life. The child is growing up and wants to spread her
wings. However, the parent usually does not want to let go. Arguments and the awkward silences are
frequent. The seemingly useless attempts to connect with the son or daughter are also frequent. Yet,
what the child does not realize is that no matter how old she may get, she is still the parent s child. The
mother is not going to forget how precious her little baby is, yet that is what the mother does in this
story. Oates uses references to pregnancy to portray the relationship between mother and ... Show

This implies that at previous times, the conversation ended up in an argument. Nowadays, Mrs.
Dietrich just does not say a word, as if she is afraid that an argument could permanently end that
mother daughter relationship. This awkwardness is apparent throughout the story and prevents Mrs.
Dietrich from opening up to her daughter. Communication is critical if Mrs. Dietrich wants to bond
and achieve a close relationship with her daughter.
Throughout the story, images of pregnancy occur. These references portraythat intimate relationship
between a mother and daughter. Mrs. Dietrich saw herself as a beautiful and rapturous woman when
she was pregnant. She knew it would be a girl and that her baby would be herself again, reborn and
this time perfect (838). She referred to herself as someone who has failed in life. She saw her daughter
as an image of herself, but she did not want her daughter to live a life of failure like her. She hoped her
daughter would not grow to become the type of person that she disliked. She wanted her to be perfect .
Later in the story, while Nola is looking at herself in the mirror, Mrs. Dietrich again pictures herself as
pregnant. She liked how pregnancy seemed to bring everything to the present tense. Mrs. Dietrich
longs to have that feeling of when she and her daughter were one again (838 9). At the end, Nola
begins to cry when she sees an old disheveled woman. Mrs. Dietrich s

Six Principal Of Persuasion
The Six Principals of Persuasion
Reciprocity is humans need to reciprocate a good or bad deed that has been done to them. In the
context of persuasion it is the persuader offering something, such as a good or service, to the person
being persuaded, so they feel the need to take the persuaders point of view
Scarcity is explaining that something isn t readily available or is disappearing fast. For example a
salesman can use scarcity to persuade someone to buy a product that is going out of stock.
Authority is using the statements of someone or an institution that holds a position of authority to
support your statements. The World Heath Organization states that the definition of health is: The state
of physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. This is an
example of using the Authority of the World Health Organization ... Show more content on

Did the persuader write down their argument on an online blog where they can be rebutted from
anyone that reads the article or did they approach you in segregated location? The more publicly or
permanently accessible the persuasion is then the more it appeals to the Commitment and Consistency.
Consensus is if other people share the same views as the person persuading. If it s a view that many
people hold, it carries more weight. This is because people speculate examples like, if all these people
think that this brand is the best TV, then it must be pretty good.
Liking is how similar the person persuading us, is to us. An example is if I had 4 children, and the
person selling me a washing machine also had four children, his persuasion for me to purchase the
washing machine would be a lot more effective because he was similar to me, and I would see him as
being able to empathize with my

Forensic And How It Helps Determine Child Abuse
Forensic Osteology of Child Abuse By: Heather Hogue ANTH328 101 11/26/2016 In my paper, I will
explain forensic osteology and how it helps determine child abuse. I will also explain different
cultures and situations where child abuse cases take place. I will describe where child abuse has taken
place even in ancient times. Lastly, I will explain the challenges of forensic osteology in determining
child abuse, what could be mistaken for it, and how it s properly analyzed. My first article is about
forensic radiology and how it determines unexplained head injuries in child mummies. Janet Davey
and Olaf H. Drummer explained that the identification of cause of death in ancient Egyptian child
mummies have changed since advanced visual workstations have produced more detailed virtual data
that allowed more accurate reporting on injuries and cause of death. They elaborated on the fact that
virtual images from computerized tomography (CT) data have revolutionized the study of ancient
mummified remains. It has also removed the need for destructive procedures linked to unwrapping of
bodies and has been used in a number of forensic pathology institutions. Forensic radiology protocols
were used in the study of two small child mummies from the human remains collection in a British
museum. They have been mummified and wrapped two thousand years ago. They explained that the
bodies presented unique problems in interpreting the radiological data due to external linen

The Character of Moth in Love s Labor s Lost Essay
The Character of Moth in Love s Labor s Lost
Like much of Love s Labor s Lost, the young character Moth is full of paradox. When Shakespeare
has little Moth play great Hercules in the Nine Worthies, the playwright offers humor in contrasting
the physiques of the actor with his role, or as Armado puts it, Moth is not quantity enough (5.2.130) to
play the Greek god. However, Shakespeare may also be using this contradiction to compare physical
strength with mental. Although physical ability doesn t carry significance in Love s Labor s Lost,
mental ability does, and Moth (mentally superior to his contemporaries) proves himself worthy of a
high status. Using Moth as a Herculean figure is one of the most obvious paradoxes in the ... Show

First, Moth delivers a contrasting image swift lead and then defends his oxymoron by completing the
image: lead bullets. This example demonstrates the page s cleverness, but his rhetoric always refers to
the real world and not to the one in books. Unlike Armado, who relies too heavily on literary figures
like Hercules and Sampson for self validation, Moth claims his intellect comes from [m]y father s wit
and my mother s tongue (1.2.95). Moth s roots are firmly grounded in reality.
Since Moth lives in the real world, he hasn t pursued academic interests; instead, he has studied and
understands people, and this perspective often gives him an advantage over the scholarly characters.
Most of the play s characters try using language in order to impress others. Some do this effectively,
but most do not. Moth succeeds with rhetoric where many fail because he knows that words are tools,
not toys. In other words, Moth knows how to use words to serve his purpose, and he also knows when
to keep his mouth shut. When the boy first encounters Holofernes and Nathaniel, he calls the men s
versions of Latin scraps (5.1.37). And if that isn t insulting enough, Moth claims the two learned men
have stol n such crumbs. In the face of pretentiousness, words come easily to the boy. The page
ridicules helpless Holofernes, calling the old man a cuckold in various clever and humorous ways.
Here, Moth appears to play with

Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Method
In energy detector, the received signal is first filtered with a band pass filter in bandwidth to normalize
the noise variance and to limit the noise power. The output signal is then squared and integrated as
follows: for each in phase or quadrature component, a number of samples over a time interval are
squared and summed. The conventional energy detection method assumes that the primary user signal
is either absent or present and the performance degrades when the primary user is absent and then
suddenly appears during the sensing time. An adaptive method to improve the performance of Energy
detection based spectrum sensing method is proposed .In this proposal, a side detector is used which
continuously monitor the spectrum so as to improve the probability of detection. The Primary user
uses a QPSK signal with a 200 kHz band pass bandwidth (BW). The sampling frequency is 8 times
the signal BW. A 1024 point FFT is used to calculate the received signal energy. Simulation results
showed that when primary users appear during the sensing time, the conventional energy detector has
lower probability of detection as compared to the proposed detector. The performance of energy
detector is characterized by Receiver Operating curves usually. AOC (Area under the Receiver
Operating curves) is used to analyze the performance of the energy detector method over Nakagami
fading channels. Results showed that a higher value of fading parameter leads to larger average AUC,

Assessment Of Chronic Pain
Assessment
Assessment of chronic pain first begins with understanding what chronic pain is. Chronic pain is any
pain with or without obvious injury that lasts longer than the expected healing period. Like many
chronic diseases, it has periods of remission, an absence of symptoms, and exacerbation, an increase
in the severity of the symptoms. A recent study suggested that chronic pain affects about 80% of
elders in nursing homes. (Pateinakis, 2013) Proper treatment of chronic pain begins with gathering
subjective and objective data about the client s pain. Before meeting with the client determine rather
or not the client is capable of communicating about his or her pain. If the client is aphasic or severely
demented, it may be necessary to ask family members and/or caregivers to be present during the
interview to help answer questions. Even if the patient is able to communicate effectively, they may be
more comfortable with loved ones nearby. Review any comorbidities that may be affecting the pain or
even causing the pain. Also, note all medications the client is currently taking including herbal
supplements and over the counter drugs, to prevent polypharmacy or even identify polypharmacy that
is occurring already.
Next, begin a focused interview. COLDSPA can be used effectively to gather all the specific
information about the pain itself. Character is the description of the sign or symptom. Onset is when it
began. Location is where is it and if it is localized pain or

How To Write An Essay About A Day That Changed My Life
Freezing cold rain poured down from the dark, cloudy sky as we were running like our lives depended
on it. My dad was carrying my six year old sister and my mom was carrying me, and I was four years
old. We could hear the cruise ship s horn blaring in the distance, but other than that and the seagulls
barking, we were surrounded by complete silence. Now, you re probably wondering where I am
talking about and what is going on, but no need to worry, because I will tell you.
It was a bright and sunny day in lovely Bermuda. The wind whispered lightly around us. My sister and
I were splashing around in the water while my parents were tanning on the warm, pink sand of
Horseshoe Bay. I could feel the slightly cool and crisp breeze on my face. It was about noon, and we
had to be back on our cruise ship by one o clock. Horseshoe Bay is a half hour away from the dock,
where our ship was swimming in place. Eventually, clouds started covering the sky like a blanket, and
we started to feel a light mist, which we assumed was why people were leaving the beach, but none of
us seemed to mind. Technology wasn t the greatest around this time, so all we had was a watch that
my mom was wearing. By this time, it was around twelve thirty. I started to notice that I couldn t see a
single soul on the beach other than us. Since I was very confused, I decided to speak up.
Mommy, where did everybody go? I asked
I don t know Ally, it s probably just the rain! she responded.
No mommy, it s

Parallels In King Lear
William Shakespeare, one of the most famous and well credited playwrights in the world, uses
extremely clever and intricate ways to get his lessons across. One of his most clever tactics is the use
of parallels; in King Lear Shakespeare reinforces and extends the theme of [theme] by creating a sub
plot that parallels the main plot. This is evident through the character development of Lear and
Gloucester, as well as the actions of their children. To begin with, Lear and Gloucester parallel each
other within the play because they are both in positions of unquestioned wealth and power. However,
due to their children s betrayal, their assurance is stripped away and the fathers are left with nothing.
Through this both Lear and Gloucester have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The loyal and favoured child, Cordelia and Edgar, are disowned because their fathers hath ever
but/slenderly known himself (I.1. 281 282). However, both Cordelia and Edgar remain unswervingly
loyal and loving even after being wronged. Furthermore, Cordelia and Edgar represent the best of
humanity. This is seen through the Christ like imagery Shakespeare uses in act 4, scene 3 to describe
Cordelia reading Kent s letter. This is also evident in Edgar s perseverance when he tries to remain
positive by saying he would rather be contemned/ than still contemned and flattered as well as the
worst returns to laughter (IV.1. 1 2, 6). Both Edgar and Cordelia so the right thing without seeking
recognition, this is contrasted by their evil siblings. Edmund, Goneril and Regan are driven by their
ambition for power and wealth, and they are willing to commit acts of trickery and deception to get
what they want. Moreover, their anger and hatred stems from the same place; being loved less by their
father. This is evident is how Gloucester blushed to acknowledge [Edmund] and refers to him as his
whoreson , whereas Lear refers to Cordelia as his joy and offers her a third more opulent/than [her]
sisters (I.1.9 10, 23; I.1.75, 77 78). Through this, Edmund, Regan and Goneril are unsympathetic
towards their father, which is evident in Edmund s disregard towards Gloucester s trust and

terrorist attack ever experienced by this country, thousands are dead or missing, tens of thousands of
people in this country know someone who was killed or injured, and many more have witnessed or

There have been very few terrorist attacks in the United States, as opposed to some nations and there
is documented information known about how people are affected. In my opinion it appears that mental
healing occurs over time, although people most directly exposed to terrorist attacks are at a higher risk
to develop PTSD.
Problems with anxiety, depression, and substance abuse are also commonly reported.4 Predictors
include being closer to the attacks, being injured, or knowing someone who was killed or injured.
Those who watch more media coverage on attacks are also at higher risk for PTSD and associated
problems. Research from both domestic and international terrorist events sheds some light on the
heightened risk for traumatic stress reactions in individuals exposed to those events. Following are
some specific examples:
Oklahoma City Bombing

My Education Is the Hope to Achieve My Career Goal
Education should consist of a series of enchantments, each raising the individual to a higher level of

In Praise Of The F Word By Mary Sherry
A few students will either leave high school happy or upset for many reasons. According in the story
of In Praise of the F Word, by Mary Sherry, she believe that it s healthy fear of failure, which mean
students can fail. Also, she believes that if a student is misbehaving in class, to threatened them by
saying I will flunk you in the class. By threatening the students, she strongly believes that they will
straight up and they will do their work. In other words, students care about more in the grades then the
actually learning in class.
When students flunk in school, it looks imperfect on the school and many more of other reasons. Now
the students have to retake the classes, because they were either not doing the work or just didn t care
about school. It starts to show how some students prefer to drop out of school for drugs and etc. If
they feel like they re not smart for whatever reason, their excuses will be oh not doing the work,
because I don t understand. When they can ask for help or get a tutor that will be willing work out the
problems for them.
Therefore, students that choose to flunk in school is a bad thing. The reason why, because they find so
many excuses to fail when they can t try it out first before saying it s too hard. It won t hurt them to
ask for help instead of trying to run away from the issues. It all begins with participating in class and

Fashion In The Workplace Essay
The workplace can consist of a diversity of people, and a diversity of workplace fashion. Let me tell
you about the diverse workplace fashion I observe at my place of employment, South Padre Island
City Hall. Being the front desk receptionist, I see most of my coworkers throughout the day and have
categorized the fashion at my workplace as follows: The Business Professional, HR Inappropriate,
Casual Islander, The Flamboyant Fashionistas, and Office Uniform. In an organization that consists of
at least 10 different departments and one hundred and fifty plus employees, personality is displayed
through a variety of workplace fashion. The Business Professional. Slacks, suits, and formal dresses or
skirts should be worn when there are important meetings being held at City Hall. While City Council
meeting days are designated days that business professional attire must be worn by all, there are
employees who wear business professional attire throughout the entire week. Our City Manager is
fairly new and came from the City of Tyler. Her preferred workplace fashion is business professional
with black being the color she wears the most. Within the first few months for working for the city, the
City Council advised her that she should try incorporating more color into her wardrobe since the city
is an Island as well. She has taken the councils advise and has incorporated a little more color into her
wardrobe, but still, black is her go to color. The City Manager s office and much of

Into Thin Air Themes
Mortality had remained a conveniently hypothetical concept, an idea to ponder in the abstract. Sooner
or later the divestiture of such a privileged innocence was inevitable, but when it finally happened the
shock was magnified by the sheer superfluity of the carnage
This is the most important quote because in the book Krakauer realizes his mortality and the others
around him. The mortality is a common theme and is explored through the narrative of the hiker Jon
Krakauer in this story. He realizes while on the climb the mortality of us and recounts his experiences
and the difficulties he had to face while on the climb.. Into thin air chronicles the story of a group of

The people died because they were caught in the middle of a storm while on the highest peak in the
world.
The song chosen was appropriate because of the lyrics and tone. The lyrics reflected someone getting
caught up in a storm and having a very difficult time like Krakauer. The song s tone is somber and
melancholy, reflecting how many of the climbers felt during the incident. The only issue with the
sounds is that it is country and that it doesn t blend well with the book. However the writing and tone
of the song fit very well.
Phase 3: Chapter 11 is the most important chapter of the book. This chapter is so important because
this is where the first person dies. Until this point no one has died and everyone is doing relatively o.k.
The reason why this first person dying is so important is because it marks a shift in the book. Things
start to take a turn for the worst for the climbers. The climber Chen falls 70 feet and survives. Only
after he back up and O.K. does he go unconscious and pass out and then he actually dies before the
crew to help save him can get to him.
The reason why the turning point is important is because this is where Krakauer starts to develop his
themes and idea on mortality. The fact that Chen dies so quickly surprises Krakauer, one minute the
person is standing right there in front of you and the next minute he falls unconscious and dies. The
strange part about it is that the Taiwanese leader after Chen s death got over

Charmed: Feminist Theory of Witchcraft and Sisterhood
On the surface of the American television series Charmed is the story of three ideal sisters with ideal
lives. Piper, Phoebe and Prue Halliwell are wives with children and careers, and all three of them are
witches the charmed ones whose powers with magic are stronger when they work together. Feminist
theory is inscribed in the narrative world of these three sisters. As female leads, they are portrayed as
transcending the typical media boundaries of females. (The Artifice). Piper, Phoebe and Prue all
challenge the various stereotypes previously attached to the portrayal of women in narratives.

The Avatars, for example, all magical creatures who once were rulers of the entire world. Upon their
demise, their power was tested, and a potion was created which was so powerful that it was the only
thing in the world that could kill an Avatar. Like the sisterhood of Phoebe, Piper and Prue, if an Avatar
dies it affects all of them, and eventually exposes their weaknesses individually and as a group.
The magical creatures that exist in Charmed are very different from the Avatars. It is understood
whether a magical creature is good or bad in their intentions and in their nature; but this is not the case
for the Avatar collective. They are on their own agenda. They never claim to be good or bad. Unlike
the sisters, the Avatars are not looking to save innocent lives or fulfill prophecies they actually have no
agenda at all. Ultimately, their goal is to rule the world however they want to. To them, the only thing
that mattered was attaining a perfect world with no intentions of being good or evil. They linger and
they wait patiently. Although they are persistent, they are not intrusive on others, instead they will
only appear and act whenever someone is ready for them and a Utopian world order.
The dynamics in the series are highly political and they represent real world constructs. They raise a
question of immortality and humanity and breaks many moral codes. The series reveals the
complications of earthly power to its audience and it resolves these by diminishing the

Gulliver s Travels Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Swift in this section of the story in a way gives up on humankind, he has no respect for them and
explains humans as brutal and irrational. Swift tells the story through Gulliver s eyes and uses satire,
irony, and critiques human nature on many levels. He is unable to fit in with either species since one is
irrational and erratic and the other is overly rational and gullible. Human nature has somewhat both of
these characteristics with using violence and intelligent techniques to improve life and society.
Swift begins his story with Gulliver being overran by his shipmates and left on an unknown island. On
this island he comes across these outrageous creatures that have no self control and begin defecating

He uses these techniques to prove the absurd nature of his characters in the story. A lot of authors have
criticized Swift s story of Gulliver s Travels for his use of irony and satire to make fun of society and
human behavior. Kathleen Williams said It is clear, both from the satires and the religious writings,
that Swift was hostile to all doctrines of the natural self sufficiency of man (pg 275). The writings of
Swift can have most societies question their own behaviors and relate somewhat to the insane nature
of human behavior. Swift makes people question themselves in this story to who are you are you a
yahoo or houyhnhnms, the negative part is that both are not good.Swift also clearly shows the
negative nature in his expression of the yahoos but it can be unclear, and open for opinion if he writes
the houyhnhnms as positive characters. Mary believes Swift shares Gulliver s love of the houyhnhnms
and his hatred of mankind for its failure to achieve houyhnhnms rationality (pg. 1153). Swift s
character Gulliver seems upset that he cannot be one of the houyhnhnms and they do not accept them
into society, they believe he may be a more modest yahoo but a yahoo all in the same. This is why in
the end he still cannot accept the fact that he is a yahoo and repels his own family to talk to horses. He

Essay on Prophet and Tecumseh
It is believed that Tecumseh was born in 1768 in central Ohio. He was the second son of a Shawnee
warrior who was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant. In his dying breaths, his father commanded his
eldest son Cheesuaka, to train Tecumseh as a warrior and to never make peace with the whites.
Cheesuaka was good to his word and became an excellent warrior and a teacher. He grew close with
his younger brother, and after their mother moved to Missouri he acted as a foster parent as well.

The ways of the white men, he proclaimed, were an evil that corrupted all they touched. Not only did
the whites continue to take Indian lands, they had made the Indians dependent on the white world s

Prophets teachings called for a total rejection of the white culture, which included the clothing and
technology, alcohol and religion. He also spoke out against the selling of land because according to
Indian beliefs no one owned the land. This was according to ancient tradition; the land and its
resources were given to everyone by the Great Spirit. Along with this, Prophet preached another
powerful message he called for an intertribal confederacy that would accept Indians everywhere. To
help this vision become a reality Prophet looked to his brother, Tecumseh. (Edmunds)
Tecumseh was a very powerful speaker and a well respected warrior. From the time he was very
young it was obvious he would be a very highly skilled hunter, leader and warrior. The two used his
image amongst the native in order influence them to join the fight. Tecumseh considered himself an
Indian first and a Shawnee second. This helped the brothers vision of one united Indian confederacy
seem more feasible. (Edmunds)

As stated in the Tyson s 2001 article, The Hippocratic Oath Today, the Hippocratic Oath is one of the
oldest binding documents in history who s principles are held sacred by doctors that states to treat the

of a person is their main priority and there should not ever be a debate of weather the health of a

regardless of the severity of his crime; you must see the malpractice in the medical provider
authorizing his medical treatment under false pretenses. The medical provider is exhibiting medication
not for the wellness of the patients, but for his or her death. Medicine is supposed to heal people, not
prepare them for execution, words from by David Kaczynski, the executive director of New Yorkers

could not be put to death, making the medical provider an unintended murderer. This leaves those

Role Of Reconciliation In Canada
Reconciliation within Canada
To reconcile is to weave a strong and more vibrant social fabric, based on the unique and diverse

where discrimination and prejudice does not exist. However, Canada has been an unreconciled nation,

Quebec s french citizens were going through a time of survival La Survivance where their language
was struggling to stay an official language of Canada (Unitas). Major conflict arose when the authority
made the schools provide french education for only the two beginning years in elementary (Unitas).
Their decision lead the French to consider the actions of the government as an act of treachery (
Homefront ). To make matter worse the government tried to fix this situation by letting the parents of
the children decide whether they wanted their child to be instructed in English or French. The
authority s resolution was perceived as favouring the english population. Due to all these issues the
Francophones wanted power so they could decide and give input regarding problems that involved
them. When this idea was rejected the October Crisis was created; a British trade commissioner and,
the minister of labour were kidnapped ( Quebec ). As a result, the October Crisis was considered one
the worst reconciliation in the nation.
The last fault that Canada has made was their actions towards immigrants, and other people of distinct
races than differed from the whites . Multiculturalism was never achieved during Canadian history.

Ocean Acidification Anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide have increased atmospheric CO2
concentrations by over 40% relative to pre industrial levels (IPCC ch2). Measures of atmospheric CO2
do not account for all CO2 emissions because, in addition to the atmosphere, the ocean is a major sink.
The ocean absorbs CO2 at a rate of approximately 7 GtCO2 yr 1. Since 1750, the ocean has absorbed

soon knocking strokes off of his score easily. Hagen and Jones quickly see that their third opponent is
not to be taken lightly. Not long after, Junah shocks the crowd when he calls a penalty on himself for
accidentally moving his ball. Only Hardy witnesses this mistake, but Junah knows he cannot lie. At
this point, Bagger Vance realizes Junah has mastered his swing and the battle with his Inner Self.

the third round, but drops down to a sixty six for the final eighteen holes. Hardy finishes the story and
decides to drive to the weathered Krewe Island Golf Course to play the only hole remaining in good

  • 2. Comparing Black And Brown Cultures Both Black and Brown cultures seem to share a lot of common similarities and differences with each other such as, friendships, family orientations, and/or religious traditions. From the people I had the privileged to interview, have certainly granted me a much firmer grasp of the valid idea of what Black culture, or Black societies seem to stem from. I was given the impression that young Black boys, and girls tend to be taught survivalist values and beliefs, in order to be more independently strong, and capable to looking out for themselves in any situation. The phrase that I learned to be very important, and to always have on your belt as an African American, is to have some good Street Smarts . That can be traced back to the previous topic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Survivalist s, is something I could label Black culture philosophy because of their strong sense of will, and strong believe in the word of God. It is apparent that their motives, and their reality seems to have close ties to their Christian believes. The Grandparents, teach their children those same traditions that are then passed down to the next generation to mold them, and to keep those same traditional values. Brown cultures do things somewhat similarly, but they are not as strict in church dress code as Black culture is. Brown cultures love cookout gatherings; that would consist of Tacos, Posole, Menudo, or Tamales. These are Mexican cuisines that are passed down from Mexico, to every family s next generations to come. However, Black cultures would prefer more of Ribs, Brisket, some Chicken, Pork (Ham), or Links in those kinds of environments. Also, sauces and dressings are a key part of Black culture as much as the food is. This is also something of a traditional kind of delicacies for both sides, which takes place every weekend, especially somewhere in the Oakcliff ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way people lead an everyday life within an environment and interactions with other human beings make them feel closer connected to some groups of people and different from others. How feeling similarity and difference in society affects ability to attain a positive sense of self and meaning are an important questions within psychology. Theory of social identity constructed by Tajfel and psychosocial theory of identity created by Erik Erikson are two of theories which give answer to this question. Tajfel and Erikson(ref) defined identity as two dimensional, containing personal and social part. Both believed that to evolve identity people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Experiment showed that students felt inmediately identified with ingrouppers and cosider outgrouppers as concurrency. Tajfel explained that only knowing u are part of group without intention to be in group or gaining something is enough for people to feel diversity which leads to discriminating of outgroup and prioritizing ingroup in order to highlight group s status. Tajfel showed how membership of group can make us see differences and get to know who we are and where we belong to by commiting to rules of group. The final stage is comparing own group with other ones. If there is chance of changing identity people tend to move from lower valuated to higher valuated group for example work position. If there is no chance of changing identity due it was given to us race gender etc and people feel their group is devaluated they can take an action. People try to creatively highlight positive characteristics of ingroup comparing to other groups. . Erikson concentrated on personal part and argued that uniqueness of individual is major for evolvment of identity.Eriksons psychosocial theory focus on process of shaping identity within individuals rather than within society. according to erikson building and achieving of identity is a life long process of self discovering during which evolving of identity is achieved. Natural Disasters Zyy06mku SWK Psychological Consequences of Earthquakes Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and cyclones, floods, and tornadoes are some of the traumatic experiences that may cause posttraumatic stress disorders. This type of disorders and other disaster related psychological problems are prevalent after natural disasters. As a result it is important to analyse those individuals that develop psychological problems especially to prepare and plan interventions both in the short and long term after disaster (Coşkun, Coşkun, 2000, p: 68). Earthquakes have quickly become one of the most highlighted natural disasters. Unlike other natural disasters, earthquakes occur without warning, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researches showed that the rates of post traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and minor psychiatric morbidity in the early stage after the Chi Chi earthquake were 37%, 16%, and 89.9%, respectively (Chen et al., 2001 p:13). On the other hand another study showed that the psychiatric disorder among Chi Chi earthquake survivors within 6 months of the disaster reported that the prevalence rates of post traumatic stress disorders and major depression were 7.9% and 9.5% respectively (Chou et al., 2005). The risk factor of post traumatic stress disorder included female sex, lower educational level, and greater trauma exposure (Lai et al., 2004). In the research Chen et al. found that two year follow up of the Chi Chi earthquake stressed on that the long term impact of a major disaster on the survivors. • 5. Framing and Agenda Setting Bias in News Media Essay Framing and Agenda Setting Bias in News Media The Hutchinson Commission on freedom of the press best defined news in 1947 as a truthful, comprehensive, and intelligent account of the day s events in a context which gives them meaning. Journalism in today s news is not the same as it was over half a century ago. The Fairness Doctrine, which was eliminated in 1987, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was, in the Federal Communications Commission s view, honest, equitable and balanced. The Doctrine obligated broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public policy and to air contrasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Media coverage reflects the media s agenda. The agenda setting theory predicts that people will place importance on issues to which they are exposed. Agenda setting by the media tells us what to think about public opinion about what should be on the public agenda is heavily influenced by the topics and issues that appear in the news (Glenn G. Sparks , 2012). The type of news people select often takes the form of opinionated entertainment rather than politically oriented information because some of this information is simply not presented. All the reporters in the world working all the hours of the day could not witness all the happenings in the world (Lippmann, 1922, p. 183). Limitations such as distance, time constraints, and subjectivity challenge the media. Controversy surrounding Kim Kardashian s pregnancy and the Paula Deen Scandal are both excellent examples of agenda setting in action. The media is ever present for these stories as if they are significant events. The placement of full page, color articles and top stories on news programming makes it clear that Americans should place these events as important issues. There are numerous articles and reports about Kardashian naming her child North West. There are news channels that portray that Deen just made a mistake and is genuinely sorry for her choice of words while some channels try to reveal that she really is racist and she only ... • 6. A Study Of Non Invasive Measurement Techniques Abstract Diabetes is considered to be one of the major health care epidemics of modern era. The determination of blood glucose concentration using the self monitoring blood glucose devices involves the chemical analysis of blood samples taken by pricking the finger or extracting blood from forearm. The pain, discomfort and inconvenience in the current invasive method have led to the feasibility study of non invasive measurement techniques. In this paper, an optical method using NIR technique based on occlusion spectroscopy is used which shows that it can be possible to measure glucose concentration in blood non invasively. Keywords: Non invasive, spectroscopy, euglycemia, hypoglycaemia. By using the Monte Carlo method, Katsuhiko et al. (2003) has developed a non invasive system using near infrared [4]. To detect the glucose level, fibre optic probes was developed that consist of a source and detector optical fibres. Both source and detector are separated by 0.65 mm, placed on the skin surface. They reported that the correlation coefficient of blood glucose predicted by near infrared and finger prick was 0.928 with a standard error of prediction of 32.2 mg/dL [4]. Another research based on near infrared has been done by Ilan Gabriely, MD et al. (1999) [5]. They were using transcutaneous near infrared spectroscopy system to monitor blood glucose levels during euglycemia and hypoglycaemia. The results proved that near infrared can be used to predict the glucose levels in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The man lives in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and he has just received information regarding the amount of fallout protection his home would provide his family in the event of a nuclear attack. The Bureau of the Census provided the information as part of the Home Shelter Survey. The report was not what the man wanted to hear. The protection factor of the man s basement was nowhere near the recommended minimum of forty. The man thought of how scared his wife was; he just wanted her to feel safe. Isolating and identifying major motivating factors in the complex global landscape of the Cold War is, without a doubt, difficult, but in the case of the Minuteman Missiles and the Amit Ballistic Missile System, three factors can be identified. The major shift in Vietnam policy, a growth in counter culture and willingness to protest, and the decreased influence of the Catholic Church in North Dakota over the six year period between the installation of Minuteman Missiles and the installation of the Anti Ballistic Missile all contributed to an increase in protest in 1970. The birth of civil defense in the United States was slow, painful, and it almost ended before it began. The Office of Civil Defence was created on May 20, 1941, with the primary purpose of evaluating civil defense programs in other countries. As a result of this evaluation, civil defense was deemed unnecessary, and the office was slated to close just two years after its creation. The office clung to life for two additional years until it was closed in 1945, and, with it, the idea of civil defense in the United States appeared to die. It was not until 1950 that President Truman would breath new life into civil defense for the United States. • 9. Application Of A Desktop Study Desktop Study A desktop study, as its name implies, can be done entirely from a computer and is often the first step in preliminary site investigations. The process of a desktop study involves correlating background information about the site that will affect the design and construction; from a desk study a large amount of relevant information can be gathered, such as: local context (i.e. what is near to the site, the aesthetic of the surrounding buildings); archaeology (beneath the surface of a site there may be unexploded bombs, remnants of old structures etc.); easements (the rights attached to neighbouring lands, for example right to light); the likelihood of contaminated soil (which we know we do have on our site); site ecology (the surrounding environment and how it coexists together). Having this knowledge of the site before any work has begun allows for easier planning later as obstacles that could have been a costly surprise later can be solved with much better efficiency. The process of a desktop study could also involve looking at OS (ordnance survey) maps of the site which can reveal the previous usage of the site as well as drainage and much more. Geological maps can show what the ground conditions are like on site and if there is any risk of, for example, subsidence occurring or if it already has. Service maps can be inspected to find hidden services, for example telephone cables or drainage. The findings of previous surveys, if they exist, can also be found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Sarah Baartman Cultural Studies I Sarah Baartman and the Politics of Looking The expropriation and appropriation of Sarah Baartman by the colonial and capitalist gaze has lasted long enough. It is not a good idea to create new images of her, because each new image repeats and continues the past exploitation and humiliation of her body. In the article The arena of imaginings: Sarah Bartmann and the ethics of representation, Rosemarie Buikema looks into the controversy around Willie Bester s statue of Sarah Baartman. The intention of the artist was fully honourable, however, what he intended to come across did not come across to these people. For the ethics of representation it is important to see whether it is possible to represent something or someone without creating negative ideas and feelings because of it. Sarah Baartman was exploited during her life and it is now key to see whether she can be represented in a way that does not reproduce the sexism and racism she encountered in her life. An example of an image of Sarah Baartman that does represent her in an ethical manner is the statue by Willie Bester. As argued before, at the material level of the statue it is made clear that the relation between signifiers and signifieds is ethical. The recycled material, which stands for the many contexts her body circulated in during her life. The use of iron indicates the metal industry and motor technology, which is traditionally a masculine domain. And probably the most important connotation, as mentioned before as well, the recycled material shows that there is, and was, absolutely nothing natural about Sarah Baartman s body. (Buikema, 2009) Images of people like Sarah Baartman are shown so that we do not forget the tragic history of these people. • 11. I Disagree With Kenneth Waltz’S Positionthat Nuclear... I disagree with Kenneth Waltz s position that nuclear proliferation makes the world a safer place, and how best to measure the spread of nuclear weapons, particularly in regimes that are developing, unstable, or third world. 1 While some scholars see nuclear weapons as a threat to stability and peace due to their mass destruction capability and the potential for horrific fallout triggered by ethnic and geopolitical instability, others see those weapons as holding the power to maintain an appropriate balance of power between opposing regimes at times of tension and during periods of low level conflict. This debate is reflected in international relations. Waltz argues that nuclear weapons keep the world secure, as states would not take the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for second strike deterrence, Waltz states that there are two necessities: survival of a first attack and the ability to inflict sufficient damage. Without absolute certainty of destruction of the opposition s arsenal, a country would be less likely to attack. Because of uncertainty about the size of another country s arsenal size, nations would not take the risk of retaliation; Even the largest states recoil from taking adventurous steps if the price of failure is the possible loss of a city or two 1. The problem I see with this position is that nations may sometimes benefit from spotting signatures that are carelessly sent to enemy intelligence agencies which may inadvertently reveal secret information about the size and location of otherwise hidden military forces. For example, Pakistani road construction crews inadvertently signaled the location of secret M 11 missiles by placing wide radius roads at Sargodha Missile Base . The failure of the Soviet military to keep its 1962 missile deployment in Cuba secret was similarly caused by construction crew routines that produced signatures which highlighted the location of the missiles. The Star of David pattern of air defense missile battery placements and slash marks on missile pads gave away the Cuban secret to the Americans. Regarding the accidental use of nuclear weapons, Waltz dismisses this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attempts to Connect in Joyce Carol Oates Shopping Essay Attempts to Connect in Shopping Although Shopping, written by Joyce Carol Oates, is fiction, the story portrays a relationship that represents many parents and children have in real life. The child is growing up and wants to spread her wings. However, the parent usually does not want to let go. Arguments and the awkward silences are frequent. The seemingly useless attempts to connect with the son or daughter are also frequent. Yet, what the child does not realize is that no matter how old she may get, she is still the parent s child. Nowadays, Mrs. Dietrich just does not say a word, as if she is afraid that an argument could permanently end that mother daughter relationship. This awkwardness is apparent throughout the story and prevents Mrs. Dietrich from opening up to her daughter. Communication is critical if Mrs. Dietrich wants to bond and achieve a close relationship with her daughter. Throughout the story, images of pregnancy occur. These references portraythat intimate relationship between a mother and daughter. Mrs. Dietrich saw herself as a beautiful and rapturous woman when she was pregnant. She knew it would be a girl and that her baby would be herself again, reborn and this time perfect (838). She referred to herself as someone who has failed in life. She saw her daughter as an image of herself, but she did not want her daughter to live a life of failure like her. She hoped her daughter would not grow to become the type of person that she disliked. She wanted her to be perfect . Later in the story, while Nola is looking at herself in the mirror, Mrs. Dietrich again pictures herself as pregnant. She liked how pregnancy seemed to bring everything to the present tense. In the context of persuasion it is the persuader offering something, such as a good or service, to the person being persuaded, so they feel the need to take the persuaders point of view Scarcity is explaining that something isn t readily available or is disappearing fast. For example a salesman can use scarcity to persuade someone to buy a product that is going out of stock. Authority is using the statements of someone or an institution that holds a position of authority to support your statements. If it s a view that many people hold, it carries more weight. This is because people speculate examples like, if all these people think that this brand is the best TV, then it must be pretty good. Liking is how similar the person persuading us, is to us. Forensic And How It Helps Determine Child Abuse Forensic Osteology of Child Abuse By: Heather Hogue ANTH328 101 11/26/2016 In my paper, I will explain forensic osteology and how it helps determine child abuse. I will also explain different cultures and situations where child abuse cases take place. I will describe where child abuse has taken place even in ancient times. Lastly, I will explain the challenges of forensic osteology in determining child abuse, what could be mistaken for it, and how it s properly analyzed. My first article is about forensic radiology and how it determines unexplained head injuries in child mummies. Janet Davey and Olaf H. Drummer explained that the identification of cause of death in ancient Egyptian child mummies have changed since advanced visual workstations have produced more detailed virtual data that allowed more accurate reporting on injuries and cause of death. They elaborated on the fact that virtual images from computerized tomography (CT) data have revolutionized the study of ancient mummified remains. It has also removed the need for destructive procedures linked to unwrapping of bodies and has been used in a number of forensic pathology institutions. Forensic radiology protocols were used in the study of two small child mummies from the human remains collection in a British museum. They have been mummified and wrapped two thousand years ago. They explained that the bodies presented unique problems in interpreting the radiological data due to external linen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Shakespeare has little Moth play great Hercules in the Nine Worthies, the playwright offers humor in contrasting the physiques of the actor with his role, or as Armado puts it, Moth is not quantity enough (5.2.130) to play the Greek god. However, Shakespeare may also be using this contradiction to compare physical strength with mental. First, Moth delivers a contrasting image swift lead and then defends his oxymoron by completing the image: lead bullets. This example demonstrates the page s cleverness, but his rhetoric always refers to the real world and not to the one in books. Unlike Armado, who relies too heavily on literary figures like Hercules and Sampson for self validation, Moth claims his intellect comes from [m]y father s wit and my mother s tongue (1.2.95). Moth s roots are firmly grounded in reality. Since Moth lives in the real world, he hasn t pursued academic interests; instead, he has studied and understands people, and this perspective often gives him an advantage over the scholarly characters. Most of the play s characters try using language in order to impress others. Some do this effectively, but most do not. Moth succeeds with rhetoric where many fail because he knows that words are tools, not toys. In other words, Moth knows how to use words to serve his purpose, and he also knows when to keep his mouth shut. When the boy first encounters Holofernes and Nathaniel, he calls the men s versions of Latin scraps (5.1.37). And if that isn t insulting enough, Moth claims the two learned men have stol n such crumbs. In the face of pretentiousness, words come easily to the boy. Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Method In energy detector, the received signal is first filtered with a band pass filter in bandwidth to normalize the noise variance and to limit the noise power. The output signal is then squared and integrated as follows: for each in phase or quadrature component, a number of samples over a time interval are squared and summed. The conventional energy detection method assumes that the primary user signal is either absent or present and the performance degrades when the primary user is absent and then suddenly appears during the sensing time. An adaptive method to improve the performance of Energy detection based spectrum sensing method is proposed .In this proposal, a side detector is used which continuously monitor the spectrum so as to improve the probability of detection. The Primary user uses a QPSK signal with a 200 kHz band pass bandwidth (BW). The sampling frequency is 8 times the signal BW. A 1024 point FFT is used to calculate the received signal energy. Simulation results showed that when primary users appear during the sensing time, the conventional energy detector has lower probability of detection as compared to the proposed detector. The performance of energy detector is characterized by Receiver Operating curves usually. Chronic pain is any pain with or without obvious injury that lasts longer than the expected healing period. Like many chronic diseases, it has periods of remission, an absence of symptoms, and exacerbation, an increase in the severity of the symptoms. A recent study suggested that chronic pain affects about 80% of elders in nursing homes. (Pateinakis, 2013) Proper treatment of chronic pain begins with gathering subjective and objective data about the client s pain. Before meeting with the client determine rather or not the client is capable of communicating about his or her pain. If the client is aphasic or severely demented, it may be necessary to ask family members and/or caregivers to be present during the interview to help answer questions. Even if the patient is able to communicate effectively, they may be more comfortable with loved ones nearby. Review any comorbidities that may be affecting the pain or even causing the pain. Also, note all medications the client is currently taking including herbal supplements and over the counter drugs, to prevent polypharmacy or even identify polypharmacy that is occurring already. The only issue with the sounds is that it is country and that it doesn t blend well with the book. However the writing and tone of the song fit very well. Phase 3: Chapter 11 is the most important chapter of the book. This chapter is so important because this is where the first person dies. The writings of Swift can have most societies question their own behaviors and relate somewhat to the insane nature of human behavior. Swift makes people question themselves in this story to who are you are you a yahoo or houyhnhnms, the negative part is that both are not good.Swift also clearly shows the negative nature in his expression of the yahoos but it can be unclear, and open for opinion if he writes the houyhnhnms as positive characters. Effects Of Ocean Acidification On Marine Organisms Abstract (1 2 max) Objectives (1 2 max) Previous Work (2 5 max) Ocean Acidification Denman et al. 2011 impacts of ocean acidification on marine organisms Hypoxia Vaquer Sunyer and Duarte 2008 hypoxia thresholds in marine organisms Justification (1 10 max) Ocean Acidification Anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide have increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations by over 40% relative to pre industrial levels (IPCC ch2). Measures of atmospheric CO2 do not account for all CO2 emissions because, in addition to the atmosphere, the ocean is a major sink. The ocean absorbs CO2 at a rate of approximately 7 GtCO2 yr 1. Since 1750, the ocean has absorbed 500 GtCO2 of the total 1300 GtCO2 from anthropogenic emissions (IPCC ch6). Elevated partial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Excessive nutrient loading, or eutrophication, increases the biological oxygen demand within the water column, resulting in the depletion of dissolved oxygen in subsurface waters and sediments. Hypoxia occurs when dissolved oxygen is less than 2 mg O2/liter (Diaz and Rosenberg 2008). Eutrophication driven hypoxia is linked to major population centers and river deltas where agricultural runoff and sewage enter coastal ecosystems (Diaz and Rosenberg 2008). The magnitude of persistent hypoxic zones and acute hypoxic events in coastal regions will be amplified by warming climate conditions (Keeling et al. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
