The Uniform Crime Records And The Federal Bureau Of The...
In the late 1920s, the Committee on Uniform Crime Records was established by the International
Association of the Chiefs of Police (IACP). The goal of the Committee was to develop a systematic
way to measure crime in the United States. The Committee collaborated and decided to focus on seven
(7) specific crime areas which they felt were the most known crimes and the most likely to be
reported. These crimes were: burglary, robbery, larceny theft, rape, auto theft, murder and aggravated
assault (James Rishard, 2008).
The IACP developed their own definitions of these crimes to ensure uniformity of reporting the data
collected. This information and definitions were published in 1929 in the Uniform Crime Reporting
Manual. The first report of data collected was published later that same year and was amassed from
400 cities across the 48 contiguous United States, as well as the territories of Alaska, Hawaii, and
Puerto Rico. This report became known as the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). The following year, in
1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) was tapped to control the crime data collected for the
UCR (James Rishard, 2008).
Since 1930, there have been a few modifications made to the UCR. The FBI began recording the age,
sex and race of those arrested as well as increasing the known crimes reported to law enforcement
from seven (7) categories to eight (8) categories by adding the category of arson (James Rishard,
2008).

Energy Is The Biological Conversion Of Plant Energy And...
Carbon is always cycling around the earth, whether it s plants or animals, both require carbon. Plants
get it from taking carbon dioxide from the oxygen that is in the air. Plants then use this and the
sunlight s energy to make food for themselves. Animals get energy by eating the plants or eating other
animals that have eaten those plants. During cell respiration, oxygen and food both provide energy.
Respiration makes then carbon dioxide, which is then put out into the atmosphere. But if there is too
much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there needs to be a solution to reduce it so no harm is caused
to the Earth. Photosynthesis is the biological conversion of light energy into chemical energy. It occurs
in green plants and photosynthetic bacteria through a series of many biochemical reactions
(Ensminger,2014). The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O+light energy → C6H1206+6O2.
Cellular Respiration is the process by which organisms combine oxygen with food stuff molecules,
diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life sustaining processes and discarding, as
waste products, carbon dioxide and water (Cell Respiration,2017). The equation for cellular
respiration is C6H1206+6O2 → 6H2O+ 36 ATP. Photosynthesis are green plant who create their own
food and it takes place in the chloroplast of the plant cells. Cellular Respiration are living things
converted into oxygen and also the process take place in the mitochondria in the cells. Both cell

Solutions Focused Therapy ( Sfbt ) Solution Focused Essay
Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) places focus on a person s
present and future circumstances and goals rather than past experiences. In this goal oriented therapy,
the symptoms or issues bringing a person to therapy are typically not targeted. Instead, a qualified
therapist encourages those in treatment to develop a vision of the future and offers support as they
determine the skills, resources, and abilities needed to achieve that vision successfully. History and
Development of SFBT The need for an alternative approach to therapy was recognized as mental
health practitioners began to observe the amount of energy, time, money, and other resources spent
discussing and analyzing the challenges revealed during the therapy process, while the issues
originally bringing an individual to therapy continued to have a negative impact. Steve de Shazer and
Insoo Kim Berg of the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, along with their team, developed
solution focused brief therapy in the early 1980s in response to this observation. SFBT aims to
develop realistic solutions as quickly as possible, rather than keeping people in therapy for long
periods of time, in order to promote lasting relief for those in therapy. How Does SFBT Work? SFBT,
which aims to help people experiencing difficulty find tools they can use immediately to manage
symptoms and cope with challenges, is grounded in the belief that although individuals may already
have the skills

The Taiping Rebellion
Megan Yang
History Dr. K When Hong Xiuquan converted to Christianity in 1843 and began preaching from
village to village in southern China, little did he know that he had started a religious movement that,
by 1850, would have more than thirty thousand members.1 These members, who called themselves
the Society of God Worshippers, consisted primarily of poor and disenfranchised Chinese peasants
who suffered greatly from the oppression of the Manchu dynasty.2 It was their discontent with the
Manchu, paired with a desire for better treatment through a new ruling class, that turned their
originally religious movement into a political one. Led by Hong Xiuquan, who declared that the

To them, the defeat was a sign that perhaps the Manchus were not as strong as they seemed. If the
Westerners could defeat them, perhaps they, the peasants, stood a chance in overthrowing the ruling
class they so deeply disliked. There were multiple reasons for the discontent, and even hatred, the
southern Chinese felt towards the Manchu dynasty. The population of southern China had been
alienated and oppressed since the Manchus had taken up the throne in the 17th century. Ruling China
as if they were the masters of a conquered territory, the Manchus oppressed and exploited the Chinese
people, especially the peasants, who had high taxes imposed upon them, while the wealthy and corrupt
state officials got away with tax evasions.9 Moreover, the growth of the population in a period of
economic recession and depreciation of the copper currency, in addition to unexpected droughts that
occurred along the lower Yellow River valley due to the abandonment of irrigation systems, lead to
starvation, misery, and exacerbated poverty that resulted in widespread anti Manchu sentiment.10 This

The Industrial Revolution And The American Revolution
The industrial revolution was not only technological revolution but a social one that would lie
foundation that would grow the word revolution exponentially. The industrial revolution brought with
it change, whether that change was positive or negative is questionable however it did change the
world as it was known. In both England and the United States of America strong industrial revolutions
struck, the revolutions would change roles in the household and society for both women and me and
the ideologies held about gender roles. In both countries effected by the revolution, industrialization
challenged religion and authority, the impact of which can still be seen today.
The industrial revolution in both the United States and England relied heavily on roles in the
household and society. Men, woman, children and minorities all had a set place in society before the
industrial revolution. During the revolution and sense of enlightenment changed the roles of these
individuals. In the middle of the 1800 s there was change in the role of men, the workplace was no
longer a farm or working in the town, rather men were expected to be entrepreneurs. Men, unlike
woman, were seen as aggressive and built to work in a savage work place were they could bring home
the bread for the family. In England several factory jobs were quite laborious, as well as in the US,
however many emigrants that came to the United States had a different sense of what labor as a man
meant. Labor was no longer

Disadvantages Of A Rod Holder
If you have gone fishing at least once in your lifetime, you need no explanation about the importance
of a fly rod holder. But those who have just bought their dream boat and after enough of surface
business (touring) are planning to deal with the underwater residents (fishes) must prepare well. By
preparing I mean carrying the necessary materials like bait, rod and obviously a rod holder. A rod
holder is urgent because it s not possible for a person to handle the rod with hands all the time. A rod
holder will allow you to free your hands. Besides it provides enough support against a big fish or any
other obstacle as well as secures the rod. And mounting multiple fly rod holders enables one to use
multiple rods. Without a rod holder, you are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its magnetic base allows it to stick to any flat steel surface.
The bottoms of this holder being rubberized, it doesn t leave any mark on the surface of the vehicle.
The magnets are highly strong, so it can endure long, speedy journeys and stay exactly in the spot
where you place them.
And it is strong, lightweight and durable. It has been proven to held more than 200lbs in tests.
Disadvantages
As it is a magnetic rack, it won t work if your vehicle has no metal portion.
So, Vac Rac External Magnetic Rod Rack is different than most other products in its use of magnet. It
is a very user compliant and convenient rod holder providing extra flexibility. However do not buy
this if your vehicle has no metal section or your money will be wasted.
Conclusion
A fly rod holder is a fundamental tool for fishing purpose.Once you start using it, you can feel the
difference security, flexibility and saving of time. But it is also important to buy the suitable one as
every rod holder is not going to be perfect for your rod and your vehicle. So do research and then

Examples Of Chivalry In Canterbury Tales
Chivalry first appeared around 10 AD in France. Chivalry comes from the french word chevalier, or
knight. It was a code of conduct for knights of the church to follow. Chivalry commands knights to
fight for the church, never lie, and respect all weakness. Chaucer uses the knight as an example of
chivalry in the Canterbury Tales. The knight is a well valued man who has participated in many battles
throughout his life. When the knight tells his tale, chivalry is one of the main themes. Interestingly
enough, it is believed that The Knight s Tale is actually used to poke fun at the ideas of chivalry and
courtly love. In The Knight s Tale Chaucer satirizes the code of chivalry and courtly love through
exaggeration and violation of the codes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

now the lists were made, and Theseus who, at a huge cost, had bidden them to produce these temples

allows Palamon and Arcite a year to gather soldiers that each take his freedom east or west, and

Stone Arch Bridge/Mill Ruin Park/St. Anthony
Walking down gradually from University Avenue to the park area is a descent from industrial
buildings to a picturesque landscape. This green space on the east bluff of the river is mature and
beautiful. The topography of the soil is varies and the ancient tree trunks lift the ground up with them.
The meandering concrete paths lead you beside the river, and ultimately to the Stone Arch Bridge.
Where the land and vegetation open up to carve out the bridge, a grand vista emerges. The bridge
leads my eye and curves smaller and smaller over the Mississippi until the rise of the Mill ruins leads
my sight up and the skyscrapers eventually lift my head to the highest point of the city. Here our entire
history is visible, our artifacts are in the limestone and sandstone that is manipulated to build these old
structures. The wealth of the flour industry is seen reincarnated to the present day through the thriving
corporate businesses in the sky. This aesthetic relationship of the Mill Ruins and new wealth is so
pleasing to the eye, the interest never ends. It is mind boggling, to live in an envelope of two eras, to

Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory
Observational learning and cognitive variables help explain human behavior and can be utilized in a
wide variety of areas. The Social Learning Theory (SLT) suggests that individuals learn a considerable
amount of their behavior by observation and imitation of others (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017. It
can be used to produce distinct interventions and treatments for those in need. A review of a variety of
studies in aggression, stalking, business, and simulations investigate distinct ways to make use of the
many components of the SLT. It was concluded that the SLT is diverse, it allows the creation of
different treatments that help individuals in numerous areas.
Introduction
Throughout this course, we have explored a vast amount of theories, however, Albert Bandura s Social
Learning Theory (SLT) has been the one that intrigued me the most. Bandura s SLT strongly
emphasized the importance of observational learning and cognitive variables in explaining human
behavior (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). According to our readings Bandura agrees with the
behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning, he proposes that the SLT is a result
of both person and situation, which does not have the same effect from either component on their own
(Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). One of his most well known studies involves a bobo doll. In which
Bandura demonstrates that when someone observes violent behavior it increases the chances of
violence of the spectator, and

Text Messaging and Persuasive Speech Outline
Persuasive Speech Outline on Texting while driving March 21st, 2013 I. Introduction A. The main
premise of my argument is that no one for whatever reason should be texting while driving. B:
Defining the issue: Distracted driving while texting 1. Texting and driving 2. Lack of concentration,
losing focus on driving 3. Looking at texts and not paying attention to the surroundings scenery C:
Standing on this issue? All drivers need to be aware of distracted driving and take steps to minimize
the risk to themselves and others. I m asking you today to listen to the statistics and the stories and
decide for yourself whether that one text message, is worth the cost of a human life. II. Supporting

C: Conclusion about this detail: It is very important to first acknowledge the dangerous impact of this
distraction s alarming statistics that shows about the safety of driving while texting. Many people don
t see and think about the consequences that can occur in this situation. More and more companies are
implementing new strategies, for instance, signing a pledge not to use the phone while on the road,
and these new changes are adding more responsible drivers. But it is still not enough to say that we
have gained control over the problem. V: Conclusion: Therefore according to the facts and statistics
that were shown previously, people that are still texting while driving might think that they can juggle
these big frames of steel they drive every day, with devices like their cell phones without paying the
price, are greatly mistaken! First off, no one can say that texting while driving is not one if not the
most dangerous action one can do behind a motorized vehicle. What can refute that problem that
seems all around us whether commuting or not. Consequently due to the nature of the cell phone use
while behind the wheel drivers should not have permission under any circumstance to text while
driving. Regardless of the stance every individual takes on this matter, people need to realize the
importance of this issue and implement the good driving behaviors. As

Mark Twain S The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Is More
Mark Twain s the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is more than just a condemnation of pre civil war
society and its justification of slavery. Twain also uses the novel to challenge the validity of
superstition. The main characters, Huckleberry and Jim, are mere marionettes for Twain to express his

representation of superstition throughout the book is indicative of his own thoughts towards the

American Dream because Gatsby worked hard and was driven as he moved up the hierarchy from
transitioning from poor to rich. However, there are many who assume that the American Dream is a

Legalization Of Same Sex Marriages
Legalization of Same Sex Marriages As a Muslim, in my opinion same sex marriage is not right and
same sex marriage should not be legalized. Out of this statement comes the question: what is the
purpose and meaning of marriage. Can we ever explain marriage in the context of a bond between two
males or two females. Can this relationship be called a Marriage ? Whether we disguise this
relationship with the label of marriage, does it become accepted into society as a real marriage? Or are
we fooling ourselves? Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman which defines many
different aspects of a relationship. It is a complement between two different and opposite types of
humans. In the natural state of existence, traditional marriage is meant to be between two people of the
opposite sex. But for the past 20 years, the debate of the legalization of marriage has uprooted many
ideologies that once existed in traditional societies. Society is now conforming to a different mentality
and it is questioning the purity of marital relations as cited in the Torah, in the Bible and in the Quran
as well in ancient scripts from civilizations of the past. Do we really believe that same sex marriages
will be equal to heterosexual marriage? Many people believe that marriage has two objectives; one is
to procreate and the other is to have intimate relations. In society a lot of people are opposed to same
sex marriages because in a traditional marriage the idea is that there is only

Totalitarian Governments In George Orwell s Down With Big...
Down With Big Brother
A totalitarian government depends on subservience because its citizens are completely controlled of
mind and body. History is constantly revised and edited to keep its citizens ignorant, and simple truths
are easily ignored by the populace if told to do so. Constant war is waged by totalitarian governments
to have a reason to use up its resources and keep its citizens in a suppressed state. The citizens of
totalitarian governments are under constant monitoring, even by their own family members. The
totalitarian state is dependent on all of these factors, and because of that, no freedoms can be given.
Orwell s book 1984 serves as an insight and warning for generations to come, as once a totalitarian
government is established,

Speech Pathology Personal Statement
The speech pathology program at Texas State University is attractive to me because it is very science
based. I have heard great accolades from alumni that they received an all encompassing education
with great opportunities in research and clinical practice. I am looking for a program that allows me to
place an emphasis on what specialty of speech pathology I am interested in as well as covering all
aspects of the profession. Texas State s program interests me because of the variety of services that the
clinic offers as well as the large span of research among the different professors. I would love to be
involved in adult and child therapy relating to dysphagia management, and neurological disorders. I
am excited to see that Texas State s Speech Language and Hearing Clinic offers therapy to adults and
children with neurological disorders resulting from cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injury,
multiple sclerosis among others. I want to get hands on experience with this population because this is
such a large part of speech pathology in the medical field. Texas State also has a whole course on the
cognitive rehabilitation of clients with traumatic brain injury, which is exactly what I want to get
experience in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Ethics Of The Law Essay
When it comes to large sums of money, it is not uncommon for the spender to feel they have been
ripped off or become over protected. The practice of law is no exception to this phenomenon, and
crocked lawyers and paralegals have negatively contributed to the notion. On several occasions law
professionals have taken client money for personal use, acting against the law and rules of
professional conduct. Although lawyers and paralegals have their own individual rules and guidelines
to abide by, they follow the same professional structure of proper conduct. The rules of conduct for
paralegals is governed by the Law Society of Upper Canada and is the governing body responsible for
reports of misconduct. Further investigations will lay out the proper procedures and tasks that must be
completed when a paralegal encounters an accusations of misconduct, specifically when a client
accuses a paralegal of misappropriating money from the clients trust fund. When it comes to possible
options it is important to remember that by proactively sending a report of the circumstance to the
Law Society of Upper Canada with a detailed list of events, bookkeeping and accounts billed to the
client will help your case prior to the client reporting you to the Law Society. Should a paralegal
choose to ignore the threat of the client, in hopes that the client will not follow through with higher
involvement, the paralegal will then face an audit by the Law Society. If the Law Society is apprised
that the

The Theme Of Women In Flaubert s Madame Bovary
The theme of confinement of females under severe mental and physical distress is a central theme in
both Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, and Wilkie Collins The Woman in White. Flaubert s Emma

The Requirements For Starting A Corporation
The requirements for starting a corporation in the United States. In the united states, starting a
corporation is not too hard, but it has some steps to it. A Corporation is a legal separate and distinct
entity from its owner. A corporation is created (incorporated) by a group of shareholders who have
ownership of the corporation, represented by their holding of common stock. Shareholders elect a
board of directors (generally receiving one vote per share) who appoint and oversee management of
the corporation. Although a corporation does not necessarily have to be for profit, the vast majority of
corporations are setup with the goal of providing a return for its shareholders. When you purchase

of companies chose to corporate in the state of Delaware even though they have no business presence

A revolution is a struggle to the death between the future and the past. Fidel Castro has had a
tremendous impact on Cuba. Castro was a political leader of Cuba (1959 2008) who transformed his
country into the first communist state in the Western Hemisphere. Castro became a symbol of
communist revolution in Latin America.
Before Fidel Castro took rein Cuba was the island of sin, a society consumed by the illnesses,
gambling, the Mafia, and prostitution. In 1969 Cuba changed drastically, but still was mainly known
for dance, music, prostitutes, cigars, abortions, resort life, and pornographic movies. Gambling in

the ratio of sex workers in 1950s Havana, with a population of 1 million people, was approximately

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926, near Birán, in Cuba s eastern Oriente
Province. He was the third of six children, including his two brothers, Raúl and Ramón; and three
sisters, Angela, Emma and Agustina. Castro grew up in wealthy circumstances even though most of
Cuba was in poverty. From an early age, Castro showed he was intellectually gifted, but he was also
something of a troublemaker and was often more interested in sports than studies. He attended
Colegio Dolores in Santiago de Cuba and then El Colegio de Belén in Havana. After his graduation in
late 1945, however, Castro entered law school at the University of Havana and became immersed in
the climate of Cuban nationalism, anti imperialism and socialism, focusing his energies more
exclusively on politics.
By 1947, Castro had become increasingly passionate about social justice and he traveled to the
Dominican Republic to join an expedition attempting the overthrow of the country s dictator, Rafael
Trujillo. Even though the attempt failed he traveled to Columbia and was involved in an attempt to
overthrow the government. In 1947, Castro also joined the Partido Ortodoxo, an anticommunist

Scarlet Letter Outline
Ah, but, let her cover the mark as she will, the pang of it will be always in her heart (Hawthorne 49).
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne tells the story of Hester Prynne, a woman living in Boston
in the mid 1600s. While Hester s husband is assumed dead at sea, Hester has relations with the town s
minister, Dimmesdale. She later has a child named Pearl. The Puritans of the town criticize Hester for
committing adultery and make her wear a scarlet letter A on her chest as a punishment for her sin.
B. Thesis: Through a series of symbols, Hawthorne depicts the structure of Puritan society and how
people s harsh judgements shape the identities of several characters.

The symbolism of the scaffold changes throughout three separate chapters. In the beginning, Hester
and Pearl are displayed on the scaffold as they are being interrogated by the top officials of their town.
Dimmesdale watches from the side with feelings of guilt, but he does not reveal he is Pearl s father.
Chillingworth disguises himself in the crowd as a physician as he learns of Hester s transgression.
Here the scaffold symbolizes humiliation and persecution as Hester and Pearl are being displayed in
front of their town. The second scaffold scene takes place about seven years later at night when
[Dimmesdale] had been driven hither by the impulse of that Remorse which dogged him everywhere...
(136). Here the scaffold represents the purging of guilt for Dimmesdale. Unlike Hester and Pearl who
had been forced to climb up the scaffold, Dimmesdale does so willingly as an attempt to lessen his
intense feelings of guilt for his adultery. As Hester and Pearl are returning home from a burial, they
decide to climb up the scaffold and join him. Hester, Pearl, and Dimmesdale link hands. Now the
scaffold symbolizes a place of unity for the three; no one is around as they connect as mother, father,
and child. The scaffold acts as a place of safety for the family where they are free from judgement.
The last scaffold scene takes place at the end of the book where Dimmesdale is found atop of the
scaffold once again. He is

The Visual Arts, Technology, And Philosophy
One may wonder how much did The Information Age really contribute to society and, more
specifically, the visual arts, technology, and philosophy. The Information Age, as defined by Gloria K.
Fiero, is dominated by radical changes in the technology of communication and the way we receive
and process information (Fiero, 476). The Information Age paved the way for several brilliant artists
to not only share their work, but create their work. Artists, such as Andy Warhol, expressed their
artistic abilities in the most unimaginable, yet creative approaches. In the case of Andy Warhol,
Warhol created pop art, which artistically expresses popular culture in means of creating a compelling
commercial advertisement. Furthermore, in the realm of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the artists responsible for video art would be Nam June Paik. Nam June Paik is a Korean artist
and musician; Paik was known for assembling television sets to create a rapid fire assortment of
animated and live video images drawn from East and West, additionally, Paik s idea allowed for the
creation of the jumbotron, which now allows to host several events close up (Fiero, 493). Moreover,
total art is the work of art itself (Fiero, 492). Total art is far from being considered traditional art, yet it
is rather creative and gives insight as to how the product is secondary compared to the process of
creating art. Total art is expressed in the form of performance and ritual. Additionally, total art can
take several different forms such as raves, flash mobs, and basically any moment that an individual
would describe as art. Furthermore, Pop art is more of an extension of traditional art, yet the art is
expressed in a manner that grabs the attention of an individual witnessing the painting. Pop art seems
simplistic, however, pop art also seems to be loud and eye piercing. Andy Warhol, the artist behind the
creation of pop art, received the idea of pop art through his experiences as a commercial artist. Since
western consumerism seamlessly began to expand, Warhol gave advertisements more life and
personality in order to capture the attention of the audience. Without artistic freedom and willingness

Man s best friend? The important thing isn t that we can live on love alone, but that life isn t worth

Patel, who is struggling with religious and psychological issues. In addition to that, after the ship sinks
Pi must survive on a life boat with a tiger for 227 days in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The Bengal
tiger, Richard Parker was named after an Edgar Allen Poe character from The Narrative of Arthur

Despite the fact that Pi is a vegetarian, he has to eat raw food in order to survive. Pi realizes that he is
becoming similar to Richard Parker in the ways of eating. The descriptions of Pi s eating habits show
Pi s savage side. Without Richard Parker, Pi would not have had a role model to show him the ways of
surviving. As the coast of Mexico becomes visible, Pi realizes that he and Richard Parker must depart
and Pi becomes very distressed about this. As Pi and Richard Parker separate, Pi says I was weeping
because Richard Parker left me so unceremoniously. What a terrible thing is to botch a farewell
(Martel 360). At this point, Pi and Richard Parker have survived the Pacific Ocean. The two have
spent a lot of time together, which is unheard of. When Pi and Richard Parker separate, Pi is
devastated that his companion has left him so abruptly. Richard Parker had become a part of Pi but
now that Richard Parker had left, there seems to be a vacant part of Pi. When Richard Parker leaves,
the savage side of Pi seems to leave as well because there is no need for that side anymore.
Civilization doesn t show the savage side of human beings. Richard Parker is essential to Pi because
he taught Pi the fundamentals on how to survive without any assistance. In the novel, Life of Pi, the
author uses the symbolic Richard Parker to represent different parts of Pi and his life. It is easy to see
how a 450 pound Bengal tiger can be a threat to the life of an individual, but when

access and quality as well as lowered costs. As the use of information technology to development
medical data increases, much of the critical information required to meet these challenges is being
stored in digital design (Austin Hornberger, 2000). Web enabled information technologies can present
the means for larger access and more useful integration of healthcare information from unlike
computer functions and other information resources (Starkweather Shropshire, 1994). Information
management is the effective, efficient, organization wide planning, directing, and control of
information within an integrated technology system. Managing information technology in a business
today is very different. Managers in healthcare organizations should treat information as a major type
of resource required to do business (Munsch, 2001). Healthcare organizations face increasing

find his one true love. I chose this movie because it is a western epic about returning to your true love
after being forcefully separated. Also because Quentin Tarantino makes excellent movies and I saw a
lot of familiar faces. Finally the movie has some comedic parts while maintaining its serious overtone.

  • 2. The Uniform Crime Records And The Federal Bureau Of The... In the late 1920s, the Committee on Uniform Crime Records was established by the International Association of the Chiefs of Police (IACP). The goal of the Committee was to develop a systematic way to measure crime in the United States. The Committee collaborated and decided to focus on seven (7) specific crime areas which they felt were the most known crimes and the most likely to be reported. These crimes were: burglary, robbery, larceny theft, rape, auto theft, murder and aggravated assault (James Rishard, 2008). The IACP developed their own definitions of these crimes to ensure uniformity of reporting the data collected. This information and definitions were published in 1929 in the Uniform Crime Reporting Manual. The first report of data collected was published later that same year and was amassed from 400 cities across the 48 contiguous United States, as well as the territories of Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. This report became known as the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). The following year, in 1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) was tapped to control the crime data collected for the UCR (James Rishard, 2008). Since 1930, there have been a few modifications made to the UCR. The FBI began recording the age, sex and race of those arrested as well as increasing the known crimes reported to law enforcement from seven (7) categories to eight (8) categories by adding the category of arson (James Rishard, 2008). • 3. Energy Is The Biological Conversion Of Plant Energy And... Carbon is always cycling around the earth, whether it s plants or animals, both require carbon. Plants get it from taking carbon dioxide from the oxygen that is in the air. Plants then use this and the sunlight s energy to make food for themselves. Animals get energy by eating the plants or eating other animals that have eaten those plants. During cell respiration, oxygen and food both provide energy. Respiration makes then carbon dioxide, which is then put out into the atmosphere. But if there is too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there needs to be a solution to reduce it so no harm is caused to the Earth. Photosynthesis is the biological conversion of light energy into chemical energy. It occurs in green plants and photosynthetic bacteria through a series of many biochemical reactions (Ensminger,2014). The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O+light energy → C6H1206+6O2. Cellular Respiration is the process by which organisms combine oxygen with food stuff molecules, diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life sustaining processes and discarding, as waste products, carbon dioxide and water (Cell Respiration,2017). The equation for cellular respiration is C6H1206+6O2 → 6H2O+ 36 ATP. Photosynthesis are green plant who create their own food and it takes place in the chloroplast of the plant cells. Cellular Respiration are living things converted into oxygen and also the process take place in the mitochondria in the cells. Both cell respiration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Solutions Focused Therapy ( Sfbt ) Solution Focused Essay Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) places focus on a person s present and future circumstances and goals rather than past experiences. In this goal oriented therapy, the symptoms or issues bringing a person to therapy are typically not targeted. Instead, a qualified therapist encourages those in treatment to develop a vision of the future and offers support as they determine the skills, resources, and abilities needed to achieve that vision successfully. History and Development of SFBT The need for an alternative approach to therapy was recognized as mental health practitioners began to observe the amount of energy, time, money, and other resources spent discussing and analyzing the challenges revealed during the therapy process, while the issues originally bringing an individual to therapy continued to have a negative impact. Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg of the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, along with their team, developed solution focused brief therapy in the early 1980s in response to this observation. SFBT aims to develop realistic solutions as quickly as possible, rather than keeping people in therapy for long periods of time, in order to promote lasting relief for those in therapy. How Does SFBT Work? SFBT, which aims to help people experiencing difficulty find tools they can use immediately to manage symptoms and cope with challenges, is grounded in the belief that although individuals may already have the skills ... • 5. The Taiping Rebellion Megan Yang History Dr. K When Hong Xiuquan converted to Christianity in 1843 and began preaching from village to village in southern China, little did he know that he had started a religious movement that, by 1850, would have more than thirty thousand members.1 These members, who called themselves the Society of God Worshippers, consisted primarily of poor and disenfranchised Chinese peasants who suffered greatly from the oppression of the Manchu dynasty.2 It was their discontent with the Manchu, paired with a desire for better treatment through a new ruling class, that turned their originally religious movement into a political one. Led by Hong Xiuquan, who declared that the Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty had wrongfully usurped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To them, the defeat was a sign that perhaps the Manchus were not as strong as they seemed. If the Westerners could defeat them, perhaps they, the peasants, stood a chance in overthrowing the ruling class they so deeply disliked. There were multiple reasons for the discontent, and even hatred, the southern Chinese felt towards the Manchu dynasty. The population of southern China had been alienated and oppressed since the Manchus had taken up the throne in the 17th century. Ruling China as if they were the masters of a conquered territory, the Manchus oppressed and exploited the Chinese people, especially the peasants, who had high taxes imposed upon them, while the wealthy and corrupt state officials got away with tax evasions.9 Moreover, the growth of the population in a period of economic recession and depreciation of the copper currency, in addition to unexpected droughts that occurred along the lower Yellow River valley due to the abandonment of irrigation systems, lead to starvation, misery, and exacerbated poverty that resulted in widespread anti Manchu sentiment.10 This sentiment ... • 6. The Industrial Revolution And The American Revolution The industrial revolution was not only technological revolution but a social one that would lie foundation that would grow the word revolution exponentially. The industrial revolution brought with it change, whether that change was positive or negative is questionable however it did change the world as it was known. In both England and the United States of America strong industrial revolutions struck, the revolutions would change roles in the household and society for both women and me and the ideologies held about gender roles. In both countries effected by the revolution, industrialization challenged religion and authority, the impact of which can still be seen today. The industrial revolution in both the United States and England relied heavily on roles in the household and society. Men, woman, children and minorities all had a set place in society before the industrial revolution. During the revolution and sense of enlightenment changed the roles of these individuals. In the middle of the 1800 s there was change in the role of men, the workplace was no longer a farm or working in the town, rather men were expected to be entrepreneurs. Men, unlike woman, were seen as aggressive and built to work in a savage work place were they could bring home the bread for the family. In England several factory jobs were quite laborious, as well as in the US, however many emigrants that came to the United States had a different sense of what labor as a man meant. • 9. Examples Of Chivalry In Canterbury Tales Chivalry first appeared around 10 AD in France. Chivalry comes from the french word chevalier, or knight. It was a code of conduct for knights of the church to follow. Chivalry commands knights to fight for the church, never lie, and respect all weakness. Chaucer uses the knight as an example of chivalry in the Canterbury Tales. The knight is a well valued man who has participated in many battles throughout his life. When the knight tells his tale, chivalry is one of the main themes. Interestingly enough, it is believed that The Knight s Tale is actually used to poke fun at the ideas of chivalry and courtly love. In The Knight s Tale Chaucer satirizes the code of chivalry and courtly love through exaggeration and violation of the codes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, Theseus allows Palamon and Arcite a year to gather soldiers that each take his freedom east or west, and without ransom or constraint of war; and a year later, neither less nor more, shall return, bringing 100 knights (chaucer 52). • 11. Stone Arch Bridge Research Paper Preservation Minneapolis Stone Arch Bridge/Mill Ruin Park/St. Anthony Walking down gradually from University Avenue to the park area is a descent from industrial buildings to a picturesque landscape. This green space on the east bluff of the river is mature and beautiful. The topography of the soil is varies and the ancient tree trunks lift the ground up with them. The meandering concrete paths lead you beside the river, and ultimately to the Stone Arch Bridge. Where the land and vegetation open up to carve out the bridge, a grand vista emerges. The bridge leads my eye and curves smaller and smaller over the Mississippi until the rise of the Mill ruins leads my sight up and the skyscrapers eventually lift my head to the highest point of the city. Here our entire history is visible, our artifacts are in the limestone and sandstone that is manipulated to build these old structures. The Social Learning Theory (SLT) suggests that individuals learn a considerable amount of their behavior by observation and imitation of others (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017. It can be used to produce distinct interventions and treatments for those in need. A review of a variety of studies in aggression, stalking, business, and simulations investigate distinct ways to make use of the many components of the SLT. It was concluded that the SLT is diverse, it allows the creation of different treatments that help individuals in numerous areas. Introduction Throughout this course, we have explored a vast amount of theories, however, Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory (SLT) has been the one that intrigued me the most. Bandura s SLT strongly emphasized the importance of observational learning and cognitive variables in explaining human behavior (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). According to our readings Bandura agrees with the behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning, he proposes that the SLT is a result of both person and situation, which does not have the same effect from either component on their own (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk 2017). One of his most well known studies involves a bobo doll. In which Bandura demonstrates that when someone observes violent behavior it increases the chances of violence of the spectator, and ... In the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel, the author tells a story of Piscine Pi Molitor Patel, who is struggling with religious and psychological issues. In addition to that, after the ship sinks Pi must survive on a life boat with a tiger for 227 days in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The Bengal tiger, Richard Parker was named after an Edgar Allen Poe character from The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket (1838). Pym and a friend leave Nantucket on a ship. It capsizes and the two find themselves on the hull of the ship with another survivor. Starvations lead them to killing him and eating him. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the fact that Pi is a vegetarian, he has to eat raw food in order to survive. Pi realizes that he is becoming similar to Richard Parker in the ways of eating. The descriptions of Pi s eating habits show Pi s savage side. Without Richard Parker, Pi would not have had a role model to show him the ways of surviving. As the coast of Mexico becomes visible, Pi realizes that he and Richard Parker must depart and Pi becomes very distressed about this. As Pi and Richard Parker separate, Pi says I was weeping because Richard Parker left me so unceremoniously. What a terrible thing is to botch a farewell (Martel 360). At this point, Pi and Richard Parker have survived the Pacific Ocean. The two have spent a lot of time together, which is unheard of. When Pi and Richard Parker separate, Pi is devastated that his companion has left him so abruptly. Richard Parker had become a part of Pi but now that Richard Parker had left, there seems to be a vacant part of Pi. When Richard Parker leaves, the savage side of Pi seems to leave as well because there is no need for that side anymore. Civilization doesn t show the savage side of human beings. Richard Parker is essential to Pi because he taught Pi the fundamentals on how to survive without any assistance. In the novel, Life of Pi, the author uses the symbolic Richard Parker to represent different parts of Pi and his life. It is easy to see how a 450 pound Bengal tiger can be a threat to the life of an individual, but when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Softball diva Jennie Finch has made it cool to not only throw like a girl, but to run, field and hit like one, too. Not since Babe Ruth has a player dominated so completely from the pitching rubber and the batter s box, and she even gives the Bambino a run for his money in the charisma department. Jennie has also accomplished something Ruth never could: She is showing the boys it s okay to be one of the girls. This is her story... At La Mirada High School, Jennie made the varsity as a freshman, earned the first of her four letters in the sport, and helped the Matadores to the first of four straight Suburban League titles. During her high school career, she also lettered twice in basketball and in volleyball, but the softball diamond is where she truly distinguished herself.
