TYPES OF RECENT TRENDS IN LEARNING
Constructivist learning
Problem based learning
Brain based learning
Collaborative learning
The flipped classroom
Blended learning
E-learning
Video conferencing
1. CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING
•Learning theory - found in psychology
•Explains how people might acquire knowledge and learn
•The theory suggest that humans construct knowledge and
meaning from their experience
•(eg. burning candle story )
•It is not a specific pedagogy
2. PROBLEM BASED LEARNING
•Student centred
•Pedagogy students learn about a subject through the experience of
solving an open ended problem
•Similar to project based learning
•Solving open ended problems
•Develops Problem solving ,interpersonal, presentational ,and
communication skills – beneficial to life outside the class room
3. BRAIN BASED LEARNING
•It is referrers to :
• Teaching methods, lesson designs and school programs
•That are based on the latest scientific research about how the brain
learns, including such factors as cognitive development
•How students learn differently as they age grow and mature socially,
emotionally and cognitively
4. COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
•Educational approach to teaching and learning
•Group of students working together to solve a problem,
complete a task or create a product
•It is commonly illustrated when groups of students work
together to search for understanding, meaning etc.,
5. THE FLIPPED CLASSROOM
•Learner centred curriculum that Changes the traditional roles
of teachers and students
•Creates active learning opportunities for students
•Before class session short video lectures are viewed by
students at home
•In class time is devoted to exercise, projects or discussions
6. BLENDED LEARNING
•Formal education program that involves combining internet and digital
media with traditional classroom methods that requires the physical
presence of both teacher and students
•With some elements of students control over time, place, path etc.,
•It represents much greater change in basic technique than simply
adding computer to class room
7. E- LEARNING
•E-learning means Electronic learning
•Using computer to delivering the content
•In early days it received a bad impressions as many people thought
bringing computer into the classroom would remove the human
activity in the class.
•As time progressed technology has developed and we embrace smart
phones and tablets in the class room and other fields .
CONTD.,
•Building partnerships with quality training providers and
combining this with a dedicated experienced technical team
and support staff.
•Virtual college provides the perfect blended learning
environment offering their learning to the next level .
•Most developments happened since the launch of internet.
8. VIDEO CONFERENCING
•A video conference is a live visual connection between two or more
people residing in separate locations for the purpose of
communication.
•It provides transmission of static images, text between two locations
and full motion audio – video images between multiple locations.
