Identification of persuasive elements in Islamic knowledge website using Kans...journalBEEI
The global explosions of the internet and direct use by individuals, organizations and Islamic scholars to spread the knowledge and events have witnessed massive growth over the years. The users refuse to use online Islamic websites as references which causes the acceptance rate of the online learning method still low. This paper presents the identifications of persuasive elements in Islamic knowledge website. The objective of this study is to identify the persuasive element using Kansei Engineering (KE) method for online Islamic knowledge website design. Therefore, Kansei words related to online Islamic knowledge were identified. After that, the Kansei words (KWs) were evaluated in order to be used as persuasive elements. Ten specimens of Islamic websites were chosen and evaluated with 30 emotions of KWs. 38 students from one of the public universities accomplished the evaluation experiment. The gathered KWs were then analyzed using multivariate analysis such as Factor Analysis to identify the persuasive elements. Based on Factor Analysis, the finding of this research revealed four main pillars which are credibility-motivated, reliability, Islamic identity and functional. The two additional pillars are updated and belief. The pillars were then compared with the persuasive elements in the previous research. Although there are some limitations and constraint during the conduct of the research, this study also contributes to the design persuasive elements for Islamic website knowledge in the future.

ABSTRACT
With the proliferation of technology, the field of e-learning has garnered significant attention in recent times. This is because it has allowed users from around the world to learn and access new information. This has added to the growing amount of collected data that is already being generated through different devices and sensors employed around the world. This has led to the need to analyze collected data and extract useful information from it. Machine learning (ML) and data analytics (DA) are proposed techniques that can help extract information and find valuable patterns within the collected data. In this paper, the field of e-learning is investigated in terms of definitions and characteristics. Moreover, the various challenges facing the different participants within this process are discussed. In addition, some of the works proposed in the literature to tackle these challenges are presented. Then, a brief survey about some of the most popular ML and DA techniques is given. Finally, some of the research opportunities available that employ such techniques are proposed to give insights into the areas that merit further exploration and investigation.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

3. INTRODUCTION
A learning system based on formalised teaching but with the
help of electronic resources is known as E-learning. While teaching can be based
in or out of the classrooms, the use of computers and the Internet forms the
major component of E-learning. The purpose of e-learning is to allow people
to learn for personal accomplishment or to earn a professional degree, without
physically attending a traditional university or academic setting. While teaching
can be based in or out of the classrooms, the use of computers and the Internet
forms the major component of E-learning. E-Learning enables the learners to
learn anytime and anywhere. It enables the development of perfect learning
content through the application of sound instructional design principles to
perfectly analyze the basic requirements of learning as well as learning
objectives. There are two categories of eLearning:
1. Synchronous
2. Asynchronous
4. CONTENT
A learning systembased on formalised teaching but with
the help of electronic resources is known as E-learning. While teaching can be
based in or out of the classrooms, theuseof computers and the Internetforms
the major componentof E-learning. E-learning can also be termed as a network
enabled transfer of skills and knowledge, and the delivery of education is made to
a large number of recipients at the same or differenttimes. Earlier, it was not
accepted wholeheartedly as it was assumed that this systemlacked the human
element requird in learning .
However, with the rapid progress in technology and the advancement in learning
systems, it is now embraced by the masses. The introduction of computers was
the basis of this revolution and with the passage of time, as we get hooked to
smartphones, tablets, etc, these devices now have an importance place in the
classrooms for learning. Books are gradually getting replaced by electronic
educational materials like optical discs or pen drives. Knowledge can also be
shared via the Internet, which is accessible 24/7, anywhere, anytime
E-learning has proved to be the best means in the corporate sector,
especially when training programs are conducted by MNCs for professionals
across the globe and employees are able to acquire important skills while sitting
in a board room, or by having seminars, which are conducted for employees of
5. the same or the different organizations under one roof. The schools which use E-
learning technologies are a step ahead of those which still have the traditional
approachtowardslearning.
It is equally important to take forward the concept of non-electronic teaching
with the help of books and lectures, but the importance and effectiveness of
technology-based learning cannot be taken lightly or ignored completely. It is
believed that the human brain can easily remember and relate to what is seen
and heard via moving pictures or videos. It has also been found that visuals, apart
from holding the attention of the student, are also retained by the brain for
longer periods. Various sectors, including agriculture, medicine, education,
services, business, and government setups are adapting to the concept of E-
learning which helps in the progress of a nation.
ADVANTAGES OF E-LEARNING
Fromthe learner point of view:
On-demandavailability: Can be taken at any time and any place
Self-paced:Can be taken in one go or in parts; also any parts that are not
understood can be run again & again
Increasedknowledge retentionandengagement: If thecourseis
designed in an interactive way, it will engage and help learners retain
information
Confidence: that refresher or quick referencematerials are available thus
reduces burden of responsibility of mastery.
6. DISADVANTAGES OF E-LEARNING
Technology dependent: Delivery of eLearning courses depends on
technology. Inadequacy of required infrastructuresuch as computers,
high internet bandwidth, and also lack of relevant technical skills in
learners would greatly hamper success of an eLearning course.
Lack of motivation: Learners may not be motivated to take a coursesince
they are in isolation and have the flexibility. It requires a high-level of
self-discipline and self-motivation fromlearners.
Lack of help/training support: dueto absence of an instructor who can
solvelearners’ queries, explain in detail topics that are not understood,
analyzelearners' performanceand providedetailed feedback
Lack of human touch: since there is no direct interaction with instructor
or fellow learners during the learning process
Inflexible:It’s notpossibleto alter the coursein real time based on
learners’ reactions and comfort
Start-upcost: involved in designing, developing and deploying a course
TYPES OF E-LEARNING
1.Synchronous E-learning
set time (phone/Internet classroom sessions)
Synchronous eLearning is real-time learning. In synchronous learning, the
learners and the teacher are online and interact at the same time from different
7. locations. They deliver and receive the learning resources via mobile, video
conference, Internet or chat. In this type of learning the participants can share
their ideas during the session and interact with each other and they get detailed
queries and solutions. Synchronous eLearning is gaining popularity because of
improved technology and Internet bandwidth capabilities.
Learning from the sources of:
Virtual Classroom
Audio and Video Conferencing
Chat
Webinars
Application Sharing
Messaging instantly
2. Asynchronous E-learning
student directed, self-paced learning
Asynchronous eLearning is pause-and-resume kind of learning. In this type of
eLearning the learner and the teacher cannot be online at same time.
Asynchronous eLearning may use technologies such as email, blogs, discussion
forums, eBook’s CDs, DVDs, etc. Learners may learn at any time, download
documents, and chat with teachers & also with co-learners. In fact, many
learners prefer asynchronous instead of synchronous learning because learners
can take online courses to learn at their preferable time by not effecting their
daily commitments.
