Conclusion
 Q1= There is a fairly even split between the gender of the people who did the survey. In my target audience I
assumed that it would be a mix of both male and females and this helps to emphasise that point, however due to the
majority of people being female, within the magazine you would most likely cater towards them as they are more of
them within the target audience.
 Q2= The majority of people who took the survey were between the age of 16-25. This was initially the age I set for
my target audience. However there was a large portion of people who were 35+, this in turn means that within the
magazine you would most likely have to contain content that is well-rounded across all age groups but a large portion
is focused on the younger audience.
 Q3= The majority stated that they would prefer a variety of colour instead of being very specific e.g. rock=darker
etc. This means that while both dark and light colours can be used, don’t bombard them with one specific type.
 Q4= When asked what were people’s favourite bands there was a wide variety going from pop to rock. Even though
the magazine is indie, it may be worth while to at least mention in some form other genres of music due to how
popular they are among the public.
 Q5= From the people who took the survey the most popular genre was pop, followed by indie. This links back to my
point about mentioning other genres due to their mass popularity.
Conclusion
 Q6= the majority of people don’t buy magazines. This could be due to news and information being easily accessible
to the public through the internet and social media. This is why on the magazines you should have some form of
social media link or website so the magazine can be seen by anyone at any time.
 Q7= The price most people would pay was between £2-3 which in my initial plans was around the price I would have
set the magazine at. This is a fairly common price among other magazines which shows why people chose those two
options the most.
 Q8= Most people said they would prefer the size of the magazine to be between 50-100 pages. Most likely because
most people don’t want to read mountains of information about some subjects they might not care about. Also most
magazines stay at around the 100 page mark so is a good place to be with the size of the magazine.
 Q9= The answers to this are contradictive due to a large portion of the bands mentioned being pop bands. They were
mentions of rock but the main point was for pop. So to make sure the magazine is enjoyable to whom ever reads it
make sure if other genres are mentioned, they are spread evenly.
 Q10= Due to lighter settings the majority, it would make sense to focus more towards lighter colours etc. This is
most likely due to pop being voted as the most popular genre and they use lighter settings as they have become a
connotation of the genre. Whereas rock wasn’t as popular among people so not as many people would prefer darker
settings.
Conclusion
 Q11= More people voted that they would prefer competitions and prizes to be included as they are an incentive to
buy the magazine as you have the possibility to win various prizes e.g. tickets etc.
 Q12= The mass majority don’t have magazine subscriptions most likely due to information among these subjects
being accessible over the internet which I mentioned previously.
 Q=13 This brings me back to my before mentioned point about whether or not people use social media or the internet
to read magazines. The majority said they would read online magazines due to how much easier they are to obtain
and can for the most part the information you want can be found for free, which is a massive reason towards why
people do this.
 Q14= Most people stated that they would expect larger font, this is most likely down to personal preference, as well
as not many people want to read a large block of text when it can be shortened, read more easily and can be
included with images to help emphasise the article the text is about.
 Q15= Most people said the front cover should contain a musical instrument. This is because as soon as anyone then
sees the cover they will instantly know what type of magazine it is. This also links to musical iconography which is a
key code and convention of music magazine front covers.
Conclusion
 Q16= The majority of people said they would prefer to see more images in a music magazine. This is most likely due
to a large amount of people would rather have images to help portray information about an article instead of a
massive amount of block text.
 Q17= People said they would prefer to see a variety of both new and already well-known bands. This is very helpful
for a indie music magazine as you can mention bands for the mainstream and more unknown artists/bands for the
more niche audience and are extremely interested in indie music.
 Q18= The magazine most associated with the indie genre was NME so it would only make sense to take inspiration
from this magazine to help emphasise that the magazine is of the indie genre. The magazine Q also had a high
percentage so it would be helpful to incorporate ideas from both the magazines.
 Q19= A large amount of people said that they don’t mind if the main image of the front cover is famous or not. Which
links back to the question where most people said they would prefer to read about well-known and upcoming
bands/artists.
 Q20= Most people said that they listen to indie music 5+ times per week which helps to portray how popular indie
music is to people and how much people enjoy to read and listen to indie music.

  • 22. Conclusion  Q1= There is a fairly even split between the gender of the people who did the survey. In my target audience I assumed that it would be a mix of both male and females and this helps to emphasise that point, however due to the majority of people being female, within the magazine you would most likely cater towards them as they are more of them within the target audience.  Q2= The majority of people who took the survey were between the age of 16-25. This was initially the age I set for my target audience. However there was a large portion of people who were 35+, this in turn means that within the magazine you would most likely have to contain content that is well-rounded across all age groups but a large portion is focused on the younger audience.  Q3= The majority stated that they would prefer a variety of colour instead of being very specific e.g. rock=darker etc. This means that while both dark and light colours can be used, don’t bombard them with one specific type.  Q4= When asked what were people’s favourite bands there was a wide variety going from pop to rock. Even though the magazine is indie, it may be worth while to at least mention in some form other genres of music due to how popular they are among the public.  Q5= From the people who took the survey the most popular genre was pop, followed by indie. This links back to my point about mentioning other genres due to their mass popularity.
  • 23. Conclusion  Q6= the majority of people don’t buy magazines. This could be due to news and information being easily accessible to the public through the internet and social media. This is why on the magazines you should have some form of social media link or website so the magazine can be seen by anyone at any time.  Q7= The price most people would pay was between £2-3 which in my initial plans was around the price I would have set the magazine at. This is a fairly common price among other magazines which shows why people chose those two options the most.  Q8= Most people said they would prefer the size of the magazine to be between 50-100 pages. Most likely because most people don’t want to read mountains of information about some subjects they might not care about. Also most magazines stay at around the 100 page mark so is a good place to be with the size of the magazine.  Q9= The answers to this are contradictive due to a large portion of the bands mentioned being pop bands. They were mentions of rock but the main point was for pop. So to make sure the magazine is enjoyable to whom ever reads it make sure if other genres are mentioned, they are spread evenly.  Q10= Due to lighter settings the majority, it would make sense to focus more towards lighter colours etc. This is most likely due to pop being voted as the most popular genre and they use lighter settings as they have become a connotation of the genre. Whereas rock wasn’t as popular among people so not as many people would prefer darker settings.
  • 24. Conclusion  Q11= More people voted that they would prefer competitions and prizes to be included as they are an incentive to buy the magazine as you have the possibility to win various prizes e.g. tickets etc.  Q12= The mass majority don’t have magazine subscriptions most likely due to information among these subjects being accessible over the internet which I mentioned previously.  Q=13 This brings me back to my before mentioned point about whether or not people use social media or the internet to read magazines. The majority said they would read online magazines due to how much easier they are to obtain and can for the most part the information you want can be found for free, which is a massive reason towards why people do this.  Q14= Most people stated that they would expect larger font, this is most likely down to personal preference, as well as not many people want to read a large block of text when it can be shortened, read more easily and can be included with images to help emphasise the article the text is about.  Q15= Most people said the front cover should contain a musical instrument. This is because as soon as anyone then sees the cover they will instantly know what type of magazine it is. This also links to musical iconography which is a key code and convention of music magazine front covers.
  • 25. Conclusion  Q16= The majority of people said they would prefer to see more images in a music magazine. This is most likely due to a large amount of people would rather have images to help portray information about an article instead of a massive amount of block text.  Q17= People said they would prefer to see a variety of both new and already well-known bands. This is very helpful for a indie music magazine as you can mention bands for the mainstream and more unknown artists/bands for the more niche audience and are extremely interested in indie music.  Q18= The magazine most associated with the indie genre was NME so it would only make sense to take inspiration from this magazine to help emphasise that the magazine is of the indie genre. The magazine Q also had a high percentage so it would be helpful to incorporate ideas from both the magazines.  Q19= A large amount of people said that they don’t mind if the main image of the front cover is famous or not. Which links back to the question where most people said they would prefer to read about well-known and upcoming bands/artists.  Q20= Most people said that they listen to indie music 5+ times per week which helps to portray how popular indie music is to people and how much people enjoy to read and listen to indie music.
