WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?
For the preliminary task, 16-18 year olds as they are the students attending the
school and will be available to the magazine. The content is appealing because it
is catered to the students tastes and preferences. Not everyone is the same but
we went with the simple layout that looks educational and appropriate.
In terms of the main task, young adults aged 16-30, boys and girls, especially
R&B listeners. I chose this genre and age group because it relates to me. I am
an avid R&B listener so I can create a lot of ideas as it is something I enjoy. I am
aware already of the associations with R&B, the likes of what to include and who
should be on the cover.
HOW DID YOU ATTRACT YOUR AUDIENCE?
The student magazine used a student on the cover as my Target Audience Research stated they would "feel more
attracted to pick up something that had someone who relates to them" along with folders to represent what being a
student is. We matched orange to the lanyard the model was wearing and carried this colour scheme through to the
contents page. We stuck with a simple font as school is meant to be smart and organised.
'Aura' was the chosen name because it relates to R&B but also with the help of the questionnaire that took place in
the Target Audience Research section. The model used throughout is serious and looks like a strong, confident R&B
singer. I included headlines of popular artists to lure R&B listeners to read the magazine because they know who
these people are. At the top of the cover I involved a puff "first look" which entices the reader to buy the magazine
because its new and exclusive. An intriguing pull quote in large and is obvious so that the reader wants to know
why that was said and the context of the article. The colour scheme of red, grey, white and black symbolise energy,
passion, strength and power-all link to characteristics of R&B culture. The fonts appeal to a mature and professional
audience. The colour scheme continues to the contents page.
The separation of fashion and music features eases
the finding of the page the reader wants to head to.
Some of the articles were about gigs so I also placed
pictures from concerts I had been to relate to the
article visually. On the double page spread, the pull
quote is large and eye catching with a different font
to let the reader read the rest of the article along with
the close up of the artists face to know who the
article is about. The font is the same as the front
cover to link the two.

  • 2. WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT? For the preliminary task, 16-18 year olds as they are the students attending the school and will be available to the magazine. The content is appealing because it is catered to the students tastes and preferences. Not everyone is the same but we went with the simple layout that looks educational and appropriate. In terms of the main task, young adults aged 16-30, boys and girls, especially R&B listeners. I chose this genre and age group because it relates to me. I am an avid R&B listener so I can create a lot of ideas as it is something I enjoy. I am aware already of the associations with R&B, the likes of what to include and who should be on the cover.
  • 3. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT YOUR AUDIENCE? The student magazine used a student on the cover as my Target Audience Research stated they would "feel more attracted to pick up something that had someone who relates to them" along with folders to represent what being a student is. We matched orange to the lanyard the model was wearing and carried this colour scheme through to the contents page. We stuck with a simple font as school is meant to be smart and organised. 'Aura' was the chosen name because it relates to R&B but also with the help of the questionnaire that took place in the Target Audience Research section. The model used throughout is serious and looks like a strong, confident R&B singer. I included headlines of popular artists to lure R&B listeners to read the magazine because they know who these people are. At the top of the cover I involved a puff "first look" which entices the reader to buy the magazine because its new and exclusive. An intriguing pull quote in large and is obvious so that the reader wants to know why that was said and the context of the article. The colour scheme of red, grey, white and black symbolise energy, passion, strength and power-all link to characteristics of R&B culture. The fonts appeal to a mature and professional audience. The colour scheme continues to the contents page. The separation of fashion and music features eases the finding of the page the reader wants to head to. Some of the articles were about gigs so I also placed pictures from concerts I had been to relate to the article visually. On the double page spread, the pull quote is large and eye catching with a different font to let the reader read the rest of the article along with the close up of the artists face to know who the article is about. The font is the same as the front cover to link the two.
