In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of a real media product? Conventions are typical things readers expect to see when looking at a music magazine. My magazine uses and challenges many of these conventions. Name on mag, image – taking up most of the page, artists name with pic, barcode and price Logo behind the name of mag, I found that many typical ‘indie’ music magazines
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Newsagents Because my target audience is aged 16-21 it would be a good idea to sell my magzine in places where this age range will be for example, bars, gigs and festivals Music shops On the internet- 17% of magazines are sold this way
Who would be the audience for your media product? The audience for my media product is both females and males of whom are between the age range of 16-21. According to the questionnaire that I carried out, a lot of the people were between that age range and they were the ones that read music magazines and so from this information I have aimed it at that age range. The image on the front Wearing and pose Although my magazine is for both sexes I think that girl will enjoy it more because of the artist on the front and the celeb gossip (Shona), however boys would find the artists attractive. Girls to be inspired to be like them Older generation wouldn’t have much in common with it coz the images are related to the younger genertation coz they are in all the pics, and the language, slang . Colloquial. Not laods of text becauase teenagers are wanting to sit and read loads of information Contents page has hardly any text and is mainly filled with images, as its easy to skim read
How did you attract/address your audience? In my questionnaire the colours that were most popular were red and black so and from this, i based the main colours of my magazine on these colours. I have also put a celebrity on the front my magazine which was also the response from my questionnaire. For my double page spread I have written an article on a celebrity and it is a real life story which was quite popular in my questionnaire. Used cropped images with the page numbers in reversed out, meaning there is no text to read and the page numbers stand out on the dark background Free poster, attracting people to buy the magazine. The gift is related to music and something the target audience could be interested in……I spercifically made my contents page easy to read To attract my target audience I used images of teenagers who are a similar style and the language is less formal Story is about alcohol- kids can associate with it
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product? Photo shop-cuttin out photos, changing the colours, upoloading photos, layering How to change the settings on yoru camera- timer Power point How to upload my power point onto slidenet
Looking back at your preliminary tack, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Research Conventions i.t photo shop and your didgital camera Target audience and how you have to go with their wished The magazine industry
