Maria Madamombe designed a magazine to appeal to the black/American audience that is interested in urban music. She chose to feature a black female model on the cover dressed simply so as not to conform to stereotypes of flashy jewelry or aggressive poses typically seen in urban magazines. The taglines and male artists featured throughout are meant to attract the male gaze and interest of the target audience. While representing the black/American social group, the magazine aims to challenge stereotypes by presenting a more simple and modern design compared to other urban magazines.

New Generation of eLearning Technologies Explained, Compared and AppliedMeridianKS
It has been a long time since a new version of SCORM or AICC has been released. The reason for this is simple - those two standards are no longer under active development and have been overcome by events. The new specifications are xAPI (formerly known as TinCan) and CMI-5, based entirely on WebServices and replacing the aging AICC 4.0 standard.
These new technologies are being enthusiastically embraced by all market segments. But, as with any new technology, there is plenty of confusion, growing pains and misconceptions. In this presentation, Chris Sawwa, director of eLearning at Meridian Knowledge Solutions, explains what works and what doesn’t and how things will change.
He outlines the new standards and how they compare with SCORM, the dominant eLearning content interoperability standard for close to a decade. He explains what the new specs do, how to decide which one to use, and how to proceed from there.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

How I appeal to my audience
One of the first way my magazine appeals to my
audience is the design. On my front cover shown
in Image A, the social group is represented. I
chose to base my magazine around the
black/American race as the genre of music my
magazine is based on, (urban), is most appealing
to this social group. Because of this, it mean
elements of my magazine such as the way my
model is dressed or posing all needed to link back
to this social group in order to make sure I was
created a product appropriate for them. Instead of
completely following the stereotypical conventions
of an urban magazine, I drifted away from the
previous looks that I found from magazines. This is
shown in image B as there s is the constant
representation of the black race with either big
jewelry, money or an aggressive attitude in the
media. Because of this, I chose to use a female
model as I thought she would have a greater
impact on the magazine in terms of appealing to
the male gaze. All the tag lines on my magazine
mention male artists and information that a male
would be attracted to, therefore, it was only
suitable to use a female model who would entice
my audience. In terms of the way I dressed her, I
chose a simple style so that the taglines would be
able to grasp the readers attention whilst at the
same time keeping focus on the model.

Difference from other magazines
I personally believe that my product shows a degree of difference
from other magazines as everything about it is very toned down
and simple. Instead of completely following the stereotypical
conventions of an urban magazine, I chose to show a sense of
originality and difference whilst keeping the finished look very
professional.
My representation of the black/American social group both
supports and challenges dominant ideologies. As previously
expressed, the black/American social group are given a certain
image and characteristics that everyone of that kind is suppose to
conform to. I believe that I haven't conformed to this image as I
have taken away the over acentric look and created a
simple, modern day magazine. I have however supported it as I
have used a black model which is commonly done within the
urban genre
