HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA

How does your media product represent particular
social groups?

For my magazine the social group I was
targeting was 16-25 year olds and this
was for both genders. I wanted it to be
an RnB magazine so I my storylines
were all on music artists but on their
celebrity lives and news. My magazine
represents teenagers/young adults
social group. The reason for this was
because when I was doing my magazine
it was easier for me to do as I am a
teenager and like to read all about
celebrity gossip.

 I used this image for
 my front cover
 because I wanted it to
 cover the majority of
 the cover so it would
 stand out. Also I made
 my model wear a
 leather jacket with a
 scarf because that
 particular trend
 would appeal to the
 social group I'm
 targeting for.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I used this image for my double
page spread because it is a
more natural photo of my
model. This is a good image to
use for representing my
particular social groups
because most teenagers/young
adults want to see an artist
naturally not just posing. That
is why I thought this image
would be useful for my double
page spread as it also relates
well to the interview when
speaking about her personally.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I do feel I could have maybe
experimented more with my
model with using different
styles and outfits. The
reason I liked close up
images rather than far away
was because I thought the
audience would get more of
a feel of the artist as
usually in magazines the
images can be quite distant
from the camera.
I did take more full length
images but I don’t think they
worked as well as my close
up because my close up
images represented my
social group more. Although
I could have used the image
on the top right to show her
