How Does Your Media
   Product Represent
Particular Social Groups?
Age
“Pop it” magazine is targeted at the younger audience of teenage
girls around the age of 15 – 18 year olds. To make this more
recognised able I used a model who was within the same age group
as my audience and also someone who they would look up to.
I wanted to in my magazine show the positive side to teenagers and
not what the media makes them out to be. To show the good of
teenagers I decided to create a new upcoming artist which shows
how teenagers do try and excel themselves in what they want to do
and get somewhere in life. My model is posing much like most music
artist do when they are in a photo-shoot, I like the way the model is
smiling and looking down.
My interview with the double page spread shows how teenagers do
try their hardest to get into the music world and also show how
difficult it is to achieve, and how sometimes you get told negative
things but you have to put them aside and try and work to reach your
goal.
The genre for my magazine does go well with the target audience’s
age.
Social group
For choosing my model I decided to choose a female teenager
because for my magazine target audience because my model is the
type of person young teenage girls would look up to and would love
to know. My model wore fashionable clothing that most girls would
wear and would love to wear, this also shows the current fashion that
is currently out.
The make up style used goes with what most celebrities would wear
in a photo-shoot, the fake eyelashes and eye liner also represent
some teenage girls since they like to look their best and stand out. I
did use Photoshop to get rid of any spots and create a perfect skin
look.
It did show the genre of my magazine by the way my model has
fashionable clothing and puts on make up represents the genre of my
magazine.
Equality

I did consider the gender and the ethnicity when
choosing my model for my magazine, but I thought
a teenage girl would be a good option to choose
because other teenage girls would look up to her
and also would like to know her. This would help
me look towards a wider range for my audience.
With having just one gender used for my
magazine Most music magazines would have a
range of male and female on artists on the page, I
decided to stick to one type and have a teenage
girl on mine.
Representation
In my magazine I wanted to show a positive representation of my
target audience. By having a feature of a young teenage girl who is
making her way up in the music world shows that she wants to make
something for herself. This represents that some teenagers do try
and work hard to make something for themselves and have a better
life. My target audience can also be represented as Hedonists, “to
play, or enjoy life now,” and also they are aspirers and also radicals.
The Dominant representation in my magazine would be the model
because she is the main focus of the whole magazine, the ideology
that is been given off in my magazine is a fun look, by the model
using different poses they give off a not so serious look, the way she
smiles look like she's having fun at the minute with what she does.
Also it doesn’t state the obvious as well by the audience not knowing
how hard it is to reach the music world and how difficult it can be to
get into it.
