How did you attract your audience?
I attractedmy target audience by following the typical conventionsof a music magazine
on my front cover as it is the first thing my targetaudience would see. However, I
adjusted some of the conventionsso they would be specifically aimed at females that are
aged 16-18.The first convention I used was a large Mastheadin big block capitals this is
something thatall magazine shouldhave as the use of large fonts makes the Masthead
eye catching and one of the first thingsyou see. My mastheadis in white block capitals.
This makes the Mastheadstandout even more as white is a brightcolour. Another
convention I usedto attractmy targetaudience wouldbe the use of my Pull Quote. A
pullquote is used to grabthe reader’s attention. As my targetaudience is aimed at 16-18
year-olds the Pull Quote needs to have an element of gossip in it to draw the young
people in. Youngpeople are sometimes stereotyped to be obsessed with the lifestyles of
celebrities therefore If they see gossip abouttheir favourite celebrity. The magazine
would appeal to them more. Another conventionI have used to attractmy target
audience is the use of my Colour scheme. My targetaudience is aimed at a specific
gender which is females. This means that my Colour Scheme needs to appeal to them.
This is why I have used brightcolourssuch as white, blue and pink. Anotherconvention I
have used to attractmy audience is the use of Convergence. As my targetaudiences age
rangesfrom 16-18years oldthey are constantlyon social media. This means that the use
of Convergence will give my target audience the knowledge thatmy magazine will be
associated with social media and the productcan be accessible any time that is
convenient for them. It lets my audience know thatwe are notjust a magazine but also a
brandthat wants to keep our targetaudience entertained. Anotherconvention I have
used to attractmy target audience would be the MainCover Image. The main cover
image is not only meant to let the reader know who the main feature is butit is also
meant to have a element of artto it so the audience can enjoy the attractivenessof the
image. This is why it is important for the image to be good quality. I made the main image
appeal to my targetaudience as I used a young female model aroundthe ages of 16-18,
so my audience couldsee thatthis magazine is targetedfor their age groupespecially.
The final conventions I have used to attract my audience is the use of Cover Lines. The
cover lines are meant to give the reader an idea about what is in the magazine. I made
my Cover Lines appeal to my target audience as I made them quirky and colloquialwhich
is what somethingmy target audience can relate to because this is how their generation
speaks.
