The Influence Of Lin Vs. Lin On Chinese Foreign Relations
In the 1839 Chinese foreign relations was based on what was good for China. If they were making
profits, everything was peachy. But if more harm was being done than good, the Chinese as Lin Zexu
says, would remove it for the world. China was very strict on Europeans living in China. Emperor
Qian only allowed Europeans that he thought in service of the dynasty to stay, and they must obey
strict rules. Europeans had to adopt Chinese dress, were forced to stay in their designated precincts ,
and were never allowed to return to or communicate with their home country. It was the respect of
these rules by the British rulers, according to Lin that China had welcomed so hospitably trade with
England for last two hundred years. But recently Lin describes a change in the English trade. He
begins to describe this group as barbarians that are interested only in profit, regardless of who they
hurt. they were taking advantage of the Chinese people, something the Chinese government saw as a
huge harm that they needed to remove.
Lin s biggest argument in his letter to Queen Victoria, is China s ability to close their ports. ... Show

Opium on the other hand only benefits the supplier. Lin points out that England already knows this.
He knows that smoking opium is illegal in England, showing that they know the harm that it causes.
So he asks the queen if you know it is bad for your people, why push it on others? That is the
difference to Lin between British and Chinese trade. Chinese are about profits without harm, while the
British are not able to see past the money. He even flips the situation, describing a group of people
taking advantage of the English, driving the message home with a sideways compliment. Lin tells
Queen Victoria that she is kind and benevolent so she would not wish to give unto others what [she
her]self [would] not

Chuck Klosterman My Zombies Myself Summary
The article My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead, written by Chuck
Klosterman, discusses the reasons behind zombies becoming so popular. Klosterman writes that rise of
popularity of zombies is different than that of vampires. He states that most monsters are initially
created as representations of fear. Similar to that of Frankenstein or vampires, Klosterman explains
that zombies could be viewed in the same light; however, zombies are better explained as an allegory
for our day to day existence. Rather than some innate fear, Klosterman highlights this fact to be why
zombies have risen to such high popularity. Klosterman proposes that he knows why the interest in
zombies has grown so much. He attributes this to zombies being very easy to kill, come in large
quantities, and have no depth of character. Klosterman s explanation for such intrigue in zombies is
their parallel to our day to day existence. He relates zombies to many real life activities, like going
through a weekends worth of emails on Monday. Along with the constant saturation of news we can
get from the internet, the concept of it being easy to close, or kill, and come in large quantities are
very similar to zombies. Klosterman provides this as a better exploitation of the popularity of ... Show

I felt that Klosterman did an excellent job in stating his point and backing it up. His examples were
strong proof of his concepts and did not detract from the overall article. Klosterman s transitions were
subtle, but were good enough to keep a consistent flow throughout the article. The only time that I felt
the article was lacking in direction was the very last part. It highlighted the prepetition of people
against zombies, which while still relevant, felt out of place. This did not make it a bad article, just
something that I felt was out of

Causes Of Rising Student Debt
For many in the middle class student debt has a strong and relentless grasp on their economic future.
In their article Why Free Higher Ed Can t Wait Jeje Biola and Belinda Rodriguez state that, Student
debt has reached a record total of over $1.3 trillion (6). This has left many people wondering where
this is coming from and wanting change. This number is just too high in the minds of the average
American. In the last few years free college tuition has been a hot topic in American politics, as
recently as the 2016 presidential race. Candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton proved
to be a huge push for free tuition. The raising college tuition rates effect all Americans in some form
or fashion, so support is quickly rising especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These have been hot topics for sometime now but little seems to have happened so far in regards to
legislation and actual action. In the eyes of many free college is nothing more than a dream at the
moment and who could blame them, for alas the government is taking their time, in no hurry to swiftly
respond to the pleas of citizens. However there was a plan in the works that Catherine Morris
describes in her article Pay It Forward . She states, Obama proposed funding Americas College
Promise to the tune of $60 billion and paying for it with a series of taxes including one controversial
and short lived proposal to tax 529 college savings plans (13). This shows that the government has
some willingness to approach the issue, but most likely they have found that it is going to be more
difficult than imagined to apply reform in this area. Another plan that is currently in use and has a
controversial funding method is the Tennessee Promise which supports college students who are going
to attend community colleges for shorter lengths such as two years. The gray areas start to come in
with the funding. Scholarships for four year students are cut to help students who will be in college for
less time and who will subsequently acquire more debt. Despite these criticisms they are a step in the
right direction even if they lay on some unsteady framework.

Failure Of The Shlieffen Moltke Plan
The Schlieffen Moltke Plan; which was originally drawn up by Alfred von Schlieffen and reshaped by
Helmuth von Moltke the Younger, failed to achieve its objectives in September 1914 was due to the
changes of the original Schlieffen Plan implemented by Moltke the Younger, and his poor leadership
shown throughout the execution of the plan The objective of the Schlieffen Moltke plan; which was a
planned offensive assault by the German Empire, was to advance through Belgium and enter France
through the Northern border. Once Belgium was defeated, the Germans wished to quickly overtake the
French and move quickly to fight the Russians before they could mobilize. However, the plan turned
into a major disaster due to the alterations that Moltke made before the Schlieffen Moltke Plan s
execution, as well as the revisions made during the offensive. His changes allowed the Allies to
prepare for this assault, and counter the attack. An issue that Moltke and the German army
encountered was that the Belgian army would not allow them to march through without resistance.
Moltke attempted to persuade the Belgian King Albert to grant the German army access through their
country prior to the invasion. The request, however, failed to succeed as the Belgian King Albert
declined, and did not allow the Germans to flow freely through their country. This led to a pre emptive
attack on neutral Belgium, which effectively brought Great Britain into the war. The resistance that the

Justice System In 12 Angry Men
On October 3, 1955 one of America s most immense juror cases had finally announced a verdict , O.J
Simpson was found not guilty in killing his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman Nicole s
friend. Only to find out years later that O.J. was actually guilty for this crime, when detectives went to
O.J. s estate home they found multiple evidence such as blood all over his white Bronco, hairs of his
on Ron s shirt, and even footprints of Simpson s shoe size. Was the United States justice system so
corrupt and prejudice to the point that they let a guilty man free just because of his social status and
money. Simpson displays the main topic in the short story 12 Angry Men which is whether the United
States has a prejudice unfair justice system. Sidney Lumet and Reginald Rose the writers and directors
of 12 Angry Men wrote and produced a play about 12 jurors that briefly discuss a trial and come to a
verdict , personal issues develop which causes conflict and only makes the process more grueling. The
accused boy is being found guilty for murdering his father, 12 jurors are put in a hot room in New
York and spend hours briefly viewing the scenario. Although one might think that the justice system
should be left in the hands of citizens ,the director of 12 Angry Men , Sidney Lumet demonstrate that
the United States justice system is unfair and is simply corrupt , inefficient , and unjust due to the
jurors biased way of thinking, ignorant attitude ,and the lack of

Case Study with Theoretical Application
Social workers hold themselves to high standards because they have a lot of responsibilities toward
their clients and the agency they work for. A social worker must be aware of services that their agency
provides and what they do not. They then must be aware of other agencies or programs they can
connect their clients to if they need extra services. Finally a social worker must know their client to be
able to help them to their fullest extent.

Snow Falling On Cedars Summary
I. Introduction
A. Snow Falling on Cedars David Guterson; Night Elie Wiesel
B. The story takes place in an imaginary town called San Piedro in 1954. The plot involves a murder
case where a Japanese American man named Kabuo Miyamoto is suspected of killing a respected
fisherman name Carl Heine in this supportive community. Most of the story is told in flashbacks
which facilitate the dealings of the various characters over the past decades.
C. Thesis: The belief of prejudice and discrimination occurs in our society in the past and present.
Each of these notions is a way to demonstrate the supremacy of one group over another.

2. The author uses the literary device of flashbacks between events happening in the courtroom in
present time and times in the character s memory. The author matches the courtroom case against
Kabuo in the verbatim courtroom with the Japanese American community s case against their white
government and fellow citizen in the courtroom of the past. The author shows how the past
interactions influence the present. For instance, the reader learned that Kabuo was infuriated with Etta
for selling the land that he thought belonged to his family during the testimony of Etta Heine. During
Etta testimony the reader saw a flashback to a time before the war, which demonstrations to us that
Etta has always felt bitter against the Japanese. The flashbacks lend a hand in filling the gaps in the
story and elucidate the biases and prejudice on the trial.

Relationship Between Europeans And Native Americans
The picture that one detects when thinking of the relationship between Native Americans and
Europeans is depicted by circumstances that eventually shaped the New World. It is hard to imagine
how different the world would be if today s society still used ancient indian traditions. A certain study
indicated that the swamps where the indians lived in the Chesapeake were full of casualties. It was
filled with disease and a vast variety of illnesses. With the high risk for disease it forced the Europeans
to adjust several social forms that were being brought over from England. Alienated from the
remainder of the world, the indians did not have a strong enough immune system to defend the
diseases. This epidemic caused major dissolution in the not only the villages, but also within the
European immigrants and african slaves. With the loss of older natives, this also meant loss of their
heritage. Centuries of traditions, talents, and artistry were strayed. The sickness cause many of the
elders to perish at once, meaning many of the traditions died along with them. Many Indians never
even saw the face of a white or black man. As a result of the deaths, it is hard to imagine what
traditions we might have carried on still to this day if so many had not perished. Although the Indians
had many admirable talents, the Europeans respect for the natives was microscopic. Europeans from
different parts of the world had conflicting viewpoints of how Indians should be treated. In the, Native

My Summer Vacation
My Summer in Chicago
I couldn t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I
couldn t wait to explore it. The time was near the end of July, this is when my dad usually enjoys
taking our summer vacations, primarily outside of our state to somewhere else new and exciting. That
summer my dad decided to take a week long road trip and visit, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, St. Louis,
and Madison. My dad said he wanted to show my sisters and I all the adventures he did in Chicago
when he was my age. I had felt joyful about the trip, I could not wait to see all the buildings and walk
down the Navy Pier. To tell the truth, I was more excited to visit Chicago a little more since it was
such an extensive city and I had wanted to visit there ever since I was younger.
A few days before the trip, my dad, my sister Nina, and I, had done some research and added up the
cost of the trip and looked for hotels and restaurants to visit during the time we were there and on our
road trip. After about an hour of research on Chicago, we had our plan of what to do for our time in
Chicago. That night, It was difficult to fall asleep, although I wasn t surprised I usually didn t fall
asleep right away before a vacation, I m usually too excited.
Morning soon came and my dad, my younger sister Niomi, my sister Nina, and I were all ready to
leave and finally begin the drive to Chicago. Not to mention, it would be about six hours to arrive
there. Finally, after

Bleachers Character Analysis
Pulling Through Benjamin Franklin once said, Players must remember that the best victory was not
over the opponent but over oneself. In Bleachers, Reverend Collis Suggs plays a minor role by not
appearing in the novel until the last few pages while presenting his eulogy. In this eulogy, Collis Suggs
offers many situations that help him find victory in himself. He shows how he personally overcame
segregation from his youth along with how Rake helps him to become a better person and how he
helps others resolve their problems. As a high school boy, Collis Suggs lives through a period of time
in Messina as the town is beginning to become integrated. He and other classmates are unenrolled at
their old school to go to an all white school. As he says, We were intimidated, but we knew we had to
be brave (Grisham, 212). Through this time, Collis has to deal with this intimidation along with Rake
s rough football practices, yet he manages to be brave and strong each day. At the end of a football
game, it is not if he and his team win or lose that matters. It is if he goes home feeling confident about
being who he is where he is. Collis is able to prevail over the speculation of racial conflict, and he, as
a person, is able to relax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Medieval Chants and 20th Century Rap Essay
Comparing Medieval Chants and 20th Century Rap
Medieval chants and Twentieth Century rap are both musical forms that have many similarities and
differences. There are many aspects to these two musical forms.
These aspects include creation, development and history. In both their purpose and audience, chants
and rap can be both similar, but at the same time, completely different.
The way that they are performed and set up, or structured, is where the most evident differences occur.
The Medieval chant, also known as the Gregorian chant, has been credited to
Pope Gregory I. Medieval chants originated around the year 600 A.D. The purpose behind the creation
of chant was to fight the political, and somewhat social, stress ... Show more content on

One was to forget or drop everything and step outside of the real world and enter a perfect world full
of serious praise and worship. Where as rap was used primarily for entertainment and set the perfect
scene for a teen party or dance competition. But as quickly as it evolved the first time around, it would
soon evolve again. Now, suddenly rap became a sure way for blacks, especially young teens, to
express their frustrations, rage and sometimes, even social concerns. No matter who is performing the
chant, it is like most others, unchanging. All the while, rap was becoming harder and harder to pin
point to any certain subject. The subjects became a reflection of the rapper and their surroundings to
the point where even Christians would soon become followers. In the
Medieval Period, there was hardly any division between sacred and secular music. Even though the
chants were known by all the people, there were still not considered the music of the people because
of the lack of division put forth. In this same way, rap and chants are very similar. Both, rap and chant,
were wrote for the common man and always sent a strong message. Chants were mostly about giving
your all to God and worshipping him.
Rap, however, had a huge variety of messages. Some very strong and powerful, while others were
more relaxed and just for fun. There were many rules to chant that had to be followed. Rap,

Analysis Of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is one of the most beloved, and yet most despised, characters in the history of
literature. Appearing in the famed novel and movie series, Harry Potter, Snape has touched, warmed,
and broken people s hearts since the summer of 1997. When readers first met Snape in Harry Potter
and the Philosopher s Stone, he was hated and feared as the teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked
nose, and sallow skin. However, it is not until the series nears its end in Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows, that the readers learn that Severus Snape was cruel and brutal for many reasons. One of the
most controversial topics in literature is whether Snape was a villain or a hero. In agreement with the
latter, I believe that Snape was a hero because he was selfless and brave. Severus Snape, although
appearing ghastly and gruesome, was extremely selfless. The way he treated Harry Potter and a
number of other students made him hated and disliked by many. Snape, a strict and feared teacher,
appeared to be a very unpleasant person. However, not everything is what it seems. Behind the
monster, was a selfless man who would do anything for love. In Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows, the readers learn that Snape did everything in his power to shield Harry from Lord
Voldemort. After his death on the second of May in 1998, Snape s memories were transported via tear
yo the Pensieve, which animates one s memories. His memories revealed that he loved Harry Potter s

Ethnic Groups in Pakistan
Since its birth, Pakistan has been home to various multi ethnic societies and groups in all its provinces.
The activities of these groups have had varying impact on the political history of Pakistan. This paper
analyses the impact of the Sindhi ethnic society (also known as the Jeeya Sindh movement ) on the
political history of Pakistan during the 1970s. I then provide a critique of the government s response to
the demands of these movements and then suggest my opinion as to how the government should have
reacted so as to have a better outcome.
At the creation of Pakistan, a large number Mohajirs migrated from India and settled in to Sindh.

Singh. Sukhbir ). Once these ethnic movements took shape, it took very less time for them to
transform into political parties. This had to different outcomes, groups with similar interests joined
together to become stronger parties. During this process they also learned to co operate with each
other and settle differences within themselves. The other outcome of formation of groups was that due
to difference in interests of different groups, political parties could not work together hence the
country landed into inconsistent leadership. There was also alienation due to large majority of one
community. Above all these differences in parties lead to unequal development for different groups in
fields of government jobs, education and urbanization.
The states response to the Sindhi nationalist movement has been mixed. Z.A Bhutto s introduction of
the quota system to safeguard the interests of the Sindhis in my opinion was biased as it aggravated
intra provincial ethnic divides in Pakistan. In my opinion, the government shouldn t have imposed a
quota, it instead should have aided the Sindhis in forms of educational institutions and training so that
they could compete with the Mohajirs in a fair manner. As the competition would have been fair, it
would have been unlikely for the Mohajirs to start a movement of their own.
Another main mistake by Z.A Bhutto was the introduction of Urdu as the official language in NWFP

3. Carmack fired the first shots, wounding Robin Cooper
Colonel Cooper supported Taylor against Carmack in the 1906 Senate race and supported Governor

The Radio Frequency Identification Device ( Rfid ) Essay
The Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) is a powerful technology for companies in the
logistics and supply chain management industry. According to Jakobs (2000), he states that the RFID
system use tiny tags with embedded microchips that contains data. This data contains the location and
information about the product/item and transfers the data to RFID readers through radio signals.
The RFID system is my innovation solution to improving the technologies Hunzal currently use in
managing their logistics and supply chain. RFID was introduced as a radical innovation, with a
significant impact in the logistics and supply chain industry. Now RFID is seen as an incremental
innovation as large firms in the logistics and supply chain industry are constantly making minor
improvements on the RFID. (Wamba, 2013).
2.5 The process of RFID
The process of RFID is relatively simple and does not take a long period of time to become an expert
with this system. Basically the Radio Frequency Identification system has three parts (see appendix 2):
1. Firstly, a RFID tag this piece holds data including an identification number. This data is manually
entered from the reader to help identify an item. The rest of the tag consists of an antenna that
transmits radio waves between the RFID readers.
2. Secoundly, a RFID reader, which is a transceiver with a decoder to interpret the data. Whenever the
sensor tag is activated on the reader, it will interrogate and decode the data on the

Exploring The Life Of Eugene Atget
Exploring the Life of Eugene Atget
Biographical and autobiographical information on Atget in his lifetime is scarce to be found however
we do know a small amount. He was born into a working class family, in Libourne France in the
winter of 1857. Libourne lays near Bordeaux, an intrinsically prerevolutionary feeling city, whose
architecture and sights may have been an underlying attraction to his Old Paris documentation.
Orphaned at the young age of five years old, Atget came to be raised by his grandparents until he was
able to work and live on his own. He is speculated to have spent some time at sea during the early
1870s, however inconclusive evidence may be, he may have worked as a cabin boy. During this time
he developed an inclination to act, and eventually gained entry to the Conservatoire D art Dramatique
in Paris in 1879. Unfortunately his obligation to server time in the military prevented him from
finishing his studies at the conservatory. After briefly managing a humorist magazine to no financial
or positional avail, Atget pursued a career as an itinerant actor. His acting escapades turned sour,
unremarkable, and were short lived. He quit acting for good in 1887, but his passion for it was never
lost, and between 1904 and 1913, Atget lectured about theater at universities in and surrounding Paris.
While searching for a new path to take his life down, Atget contemplated over both photography and
painting. In his endeavors to paint, he must have realized

You Only Live Twice directed by Lewis Gilbert and Casino Royale directed by Martin Campbell show
the character of James Bond to have the characteristics that make up a hero. It is questionable
throughout both texts if James Bond is actually a hero. During both texts Bond foils plans that would

throughout the texts that include bravery and intelligence, which could class him as a hero, this essay

Dance Salsa Research Paper
Dance has always been a part of my life, whether it was from the first day my mom taught me salsa in
the family room to now performing in front of huge crowds around my community. Whether its
ballroom, west coast, or country, I have been able to express myself in ways that I never thought
possible. Through my commitment and perseverance I strive to become a better and more
knowledgeable dancer every day. I continue to learn new things and search for opportunities to widen
my horizons and interact with the dance community. My passion grows with me as I grow as a dancer
and I hope to be able to share that passion with others for the rest of my life.
I started dance at the age of 8, well officially that is. Long before then however I had begun to learn
from my mom. We would spend our Sunday s cleaning the house listening to latin music and she
would teach me how to dance salsa. That was how I first discovered what it was to dance. I kept
learning and having fun with her every week until a talent show at my school offered me an
opportunity to showcase (what I thought at the time) was a vast amount of knowledge. So I told my
mother about it, but she thought that our days spent learning salsa were just harmless fun with no big
aims such as the one I had presented her with. So she said no. And ... Show more content on

that I couldn t even try to wrap my head around. But above it all these people were having fun. The
dancers were wrapped up in the moment smiling, having the time of their lives. The competition didn t

Treatment Plan
Introduction Fritscher (2011) postulates that a treatment plan may be formal or it may consist of
informal handwritten notes. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or
facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states
that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to
Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may
foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. This
paper will describe a treatment plan and how it will be presented to the client. The paper will also
make specific reference to Brittany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of
resistance should be minimal.
Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized
treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be
acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the
treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request.
Conclusion
Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may
be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite
empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the
determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the
treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings
and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the
client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it
increases the likelihood of a successful process.

Analysis Of Ordinary Men By Christopher Browning
Judenfrei was the goal. In many cases, this was achieved. Germany hoped to create lands free of Jews;
judenfrei. German blood was perceived as pure, creating the need to cleanse the nation of the
unkempt, parasitic Jews (Browning 44, 152). Ordinary Men by the historian and author, Christopher
Browning, follows the men of the German Reserve Police Battalion 101 as they work towards this
goal of extermination The story leads readers through these men s first experiences clearing the area of
the Jewish population, to these events becoming routine, all the way through the trials which brought
all of this to public light through Browning s extensive knowledge of Nazi Germany and the
Holocaust with his MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin Madison ( Christopher R.
Browning ). The men of Battalion 101 begin following their indescribably violent orders with great
hesitation and fear, only to grow senseless to all which they were inflicting on the Jews, all while
allowing insight into various points of view which seek to answer the most prominent question of
anyone who would like to know, how did this happen? The Reserve Police Battalion 101 was made up
of middle aged family men who were only beginning their journey, marching blind into unknown
assignments. The majority of these men had no previous military experience and were considered too
old to join the German Army, leaving them to be drafted into the Order Police. Germany had just

they re all very humorous and a great inspiration to me. It was a hard choice, but I chose these three
people for many reasons. Jensen Ackles is my number one choice because he has been my biggest
obsession for the past few years. He is an actor in the show Supernatural, where he plays a character
named Dean. I have loved him for a long time not just for his looks, but also for his hilarious

Why do you want to be in the Coast Guard? Naturally my response was that I wanted to help people.
Little did I know at the time, that as I progressed through my career, so too would the focus of my
desire to help shift to the people placed under my charge. Starting out I didn t place much thought into
leadership. Luckily, I have had the privilege to serve with several people that have demonstrated
exceptional leadership throughout my career. Jeff Dorwart, John Lorentz, Marvin Wells, etc., the list

City Expansion In Medieval Europe
An inhabited bridge is defined according to Jean Dethier in Inhabited Bridges, past, present and
future, An interview with Jean Dethier , in Living Bridges (1996) as follows: Definition of Inhabited
Bridges: An inhabited Bridge in addition to its primary function of surmounting natural or man made
obstacles, be they rivers or canals, railways or motorways serves as an organic link between two urban
areas by connecting them to each other with a development of buildings erected on the bridge deck to
form permanent accommodation for various social and economic activities. Thus, every inhabited
bridge consists of two elements: the platform that spans the obstacle and an architectural
superstructure. In contrasts to a purely vehicular bridge, the inhabited bridge provides a continuity
within the urban fabric that is not only social and economic but also cultural, emotional and symbolic
at a point where a natural break would otherwise exist. Indeed, it is both seductive and functional.
Inhabited bridges are believed to have emerged as a spontaneous occupation of bridges in response to
a growing demand of building land in cities and towns which were limited by defensive walls in
Medieval Europe. Geographically, it seems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in medieval Europe were often located alongside riverbanks since water was a main part of life. They

the city grew, so did the demand for land. When the pressure became unbearable, the city would create
new defensive walls to englobe the new peripheric buildings. One of the most compelling evidence is
Paris: the city saw its walls expand six times between the fourth and 1919, year in which the last wall,

The reason that the woman and her husband married was to make peace instead of love; however, they
still loved each other after marrying and swore that nothing could separate them excepted the death
(Anonymous 114). For me, the husband abandoned his wife because of his relative s hostility to her

Lenin s Revolution Essay
Lenin s Revolution
At the start of the 20th century, the ruling Tsar of Russia had absolute power and his Government was
corrupt, hence, the majority of the people were against him. Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the leader of the
Bolsheviks Socialist Party wanted a revolution to overthrow the Government. Relative to these times,
it was Lenin who directed the course of the oncoming Russian October Revolution.
The outbreak of the unrest, in January 1905, found Lenin anxious to set down a novel strategy for
revolution: the need for the proletariat (the working class) to win hegemony in the democratic
revolution. He flatly declared to both major political parties of the time (the Bolsheviks and

Placing revolution above party unity, Lenin would accept no unity compromise if he thought it might
delay, not accelerate the revolution. This makes it quite apparent that without Lenin; there may have
not been a revolution. He clearly pushed its commencement.
Ten years in exile had not swayed Lenin?s determination to create and direct a powerful revolution.
Lenin returned to Russia from exclusion in February 1917, believing that the time was ripe to seize
power. The Russian economy was in ruin after the army was nearly defeated and the people exhausted
as a result of the First World War. The country was in an unstable state, suitable for a revolution
(Levinthal 119). Around October 20, Lenin, in disguise and at considerable personal risk, slipped into
Petrograd and attended a secret meeting of the Bolshevik Central Committee held on the evening of
October 23. Not until after a heated 10 hour debate did he finally win a majority in favour of preparing
an armed takeover. Now steps to enlist the support of soldiers and sailors and to train the Red Guards,
the Bolshevik led workers militia, for an armed takeover proceeded openly under the guise of self
defense of the Petrograd Soviet. Even at great personal risk, Lenin was adamant in spurring a
successful revolution.

Formal Social Control And Informal Social Deviance
In society, there are sanctions that are used to prevent, stop, and punish behavior viewed as bad or
unacceptable. These unaccepted behaviors are called social deviance, and these sanctions are enforced
through two forms of social control: formal social control, and informal social control. Both of these
forms of social control work towards achieving the same goal: discouraging violations of society s
accepted behaviors, or social deviance, and punishing those who do. But what is the difference
between these two forms of social control? How are these social control mechanisms carried out?
Formal social control is a form of control that is carried out by authorized agents, such as police
officers, judges, school administrators, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, judges and religious officials are the agents of formal social control. These laws and rules
work well in terms of stopping this unwanted behavior because of the penalties that follow if one
deviates. Whether one agrees with the military hair rules and laws about same sex marriage or not,
they will often follow them, as they will other rules and laws, as to avoid the punishments that would
follow if they were to break them. Informal social control is a form of social control used casually to
enforce norms (Schaefer 149). Informal social control is not enforced with rules or laws. Typically,
informal social control agents are just everyday people. When people notice social deviance, they will
use informal social control mechanisms including smiles, laughter, a raised eyebrow, and ridicule
(Schaefer 149) to combat this deviance. For example, it is widely accepted in the United States that
one should walk on the right side of the hallway, sidewalk, aisle, etc. However, there is no formally
written rule or law stating that walking on the left side is unacceptable. Therefore, when someone
walks on the left, there is no formal form of punishment. However, this person will likely be met with
dirty looks or raised eyebrows from the people around them. Therefore, because of this informal social
control, people generally adhere to unwritten rule of walking on the right side. Similarly, it is widely
accepted that people should hold the

and they will be used.
Advertisements have become more popular within the past few years. The reason for this is because
this generation, Generation X, is much more virtual friendly and much more reliant on technology.
Bert Markgraf, the freelance writer and graduate of McGill University, speaks about this, saying:
Mobile advertising has been increasing rapidly, both in volume and value. Over the last three months
of 2012, average mobile ad rates increased by 50 percent and they retained most of the increase in
January 2013. Effective CPM rates ranged from $0.53 for an Android device in October 2012 to $1.12
for an iOS device in December 2012. In January 2013, eCPM rates for Android devices remained high
at $0.88 while those for iOS devices decreased from their peak to $1.08. iOS devices achieved
consistently higher rates than Android devices by about 30 percent.
With this information on hand, it is clear that making money using advertisements from mobile
applications is not as challenging as it was five years ago. Every year, technology is getting more and

Liam Goldsworthy What are electrons, protons and neutrons made of? Essay
Everything that exists in the world is made up of atoms, from the asteroids that float around in space
to the very cells inside a human body. Atoms are everywhere and that s because atoms make up
everything. Atoms are made up of protons, neutrons and electrons, each element has different amount
of protons, neutrons and electrons. For instance one Helium atom has two protons, two neutrons and
two electrons. Helium is an extremely stable element so there are no variations such as ions or

Electrons are known to fall into orbits or energy levels. These orbits are not visible like the orbit of a
planet or celestial body. The reason is that atoms are so small and the best microscopes can only view
so much of atoms at that scale. Even if we could view electrons they would move too fast for the
human eye. We can only estimate where the electrons are, that is why the modern model of the atoms
has an electron cloud surrounding the nucleus of an atom instead of a set orbit. Electrons are classed

they are oscillations of the electron field or quantum field

Cause And Effect Of Stress On College Students
According to a study by the Associated Press and mtvU, eight in 10 college students say they have
sometimes or frequently experienced stress in their daily lives over the past three months, ( Stress in
College Students ). College Students are inevitably going to be affected by stress at some point
throughout their college experience; however, the cause of the stress can vary by student. Some of the
causes of stress on college students can be tests, homework, home life, social life, and jobs. Many
times, college students have all or most of these causes piled on top of one another; therefore, giving
them extremely high levels of stress. There are many negative effects of stress on college students. To
begin, one effect of stress on college students is physical health problems. Some of these problems can
include internal stomach problems, weight gain, and even weight loss. When people are stressed, they
tend to focus on the stressor rather than their own health. For example, college students can
experience internal stomach problems because of the amount of stress they are under. According to
Doctor Michael Craig Miller from Harvard Medical School, functional gastrointestinal disorders have
many different causes but stress in particular can cause these problems to arise (Miller). This goes to
show that stress can largely affect college students physical health. Aside from stomach issues, many
college students experience weight gain or weight loss. The Freshman 15 is a

Federal Government And The United States
Federal Government
The United States of America government is called the federal government and is the republic of the
fifty states which constitute the United States. It also constitutes the capital districts and several other
territories. Now the government is made up of three different branches and they are the Executive,
Legislature, and the Judicial. Those powers are all vested by the US constitution which is in the
congress, the president, and also the federal court that also includes the Supreme Court. The acts of
congress define the duties and powers which concludes the executive departments and courts that are
inferior to the Supreme Court. When you talk about history and the Federal government that means
you can have a long line of topics and information that you could discuss. There s an outline that is
laid out by the government of the united states and that is called the constitution. The government was
formed in the year of 1789 and that makes it the world s first modern constitutional republic. The
United States government is based on two words or you could call them principles and that s
federalism and republicanism, which means the power is shared between the federal government
along with the state governments. Ever since the American Civil War there s been a really big change

There have been many animated movies that were very popular during the 1940 s and 50 s. Some are
still watched and have been recreated in today s times: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio,
and Dumbo. Although not the first animated movie to be created, Fantasia (1940) was the first movie
to connect classical music with animations. Directed by James Algar and released in 1940, this movie
was the first of its kind, using classical music and creating scenes with animations around that music
or vice versa. This movie contains eight musical segments all narrated by Deems Taylor with different

as a failure after being released and barely making any money, this movie is one of a kind as it rose to

Lucid Dreaming Paper
Studies with Lucid Dreaming as add on therapy to Gestalt Therapy
Hannah Carter
Pikes Peak Community College
Abstract
The following paper analyzes a psychology journal that examined the results of a clinical study
seeking to teach lucid dreaming, in partnership with gestalt therapy, as an additional tool for dealing
with nightmares. B. Holzinger, G. Klosch, and B. Saletu define lucid dreaming as a learnable skill
with in which the nightmare sufferer learns about dream awareness techniques, providing them with a
means of control when experiencing nightmares (p. 355). In association, Gestalt therapy is defined as
a conscious confrontation of nightmare images in a therapy setting, often by role playing. The
argument is made that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researcher s belief was that the inflated self confidence, that learning lucid dreaming would equip
their patients with, would decrease the patient s anxiety and therefore decrease the frequency of the
nightmares. With supporting evidence from the experiment that there was a decrease in nightmare
frequency, it can be assumed that the researchers think their results can be applied to the greater
majority of adults suffering from recurrent nightmares. The researchers are assuming through this
assertion that all adults suffering from nightmares are under stress. This can be applied to adults who
are suffering from specifically stress resulting from events from 2014. It is not accurate to assume that
all stress is the same and that people will be affected similarly to

Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?

Tuesday, 5.10 7pm, EA404A
Abstract
The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes of
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl
and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002)
Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students.
Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between
primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with
cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship.
Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?
Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive Empathy
and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson, Kiehl,
Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). Cognitive empathy is defined as the capability to
understand the emotions of another (Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Psychopathy is defined as an
individual who shows traits of

  • 2. The Influence Of Lin Vs. Lin On Chinese Foreign Relations In the 1839 Chinese foreign relations was based on what was good for China. If they were making profits, everything was peachy. But if more harm was being done than good, the Chinese as Lin Zexu says, would remove it for the world. China was very strict on Europeans living in China. Emperor Qian only allowed Europeans that he thought in service of the dynasty to stay, and they must obey strict rules. Europeans had to adopt Chinese dress, were forced to stay in their designated precincts , and were never allowed to return to or communicate with their home country. It was the respect of these rules by the British rulers, according to Lin that China had welcomed so hospitably trade with England for last two hundred years. But recently Lin describes a change in the English trade. He begins to describe this group as barbarians that are interested only in profit, regardless of who they hurt. they were taking advantage of the Chinese people, something the Chinese government saw as a huge harm that they needed to remove. Lin s biggest argument in his letter to Queen Victoria, is China s ability to close their ports. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opium on the other hand only benefits the supplier. Lin points out that England already knows this. He knows that smoking opium is illegal in England, showing that they know the harm that it causes. So he asks the queen if you know it is bad for your people, why push it on others? That is the difference to Lin between British and Chinese trade. Chinese are about profits without harm, while the British are not able to see past the money. He even flips the situation, describing a group of people taking advantage of the English, driving the message home with a sideways compliment. Lin tells Queen Victoria that she is kind and benevolent so she would not wish to give unto others what [she her]self [would] not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Chuck Klosterman My Zombies Myself Summary The article My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead, written by Chuck Klosterman, discusses the reasons behind zombies becoming so popular. Klosterman writes that rise of popularity of zombies is different than that of vampires. He states that most monsters are initially created as representations of fear. Similar to that of Frankenstein or vampires, Klosterman explains that zombies could be viewed in the same light; however, zombies are better explained as an allegory for our day to day existence. Rather than some innate fear, Klosterman highlights this fact to be why zombies have risen to such high popularity. Klosterman proposes that he knows why the interest in zombies has grown so much. He attributes this to zombies being very easy to kill, come in large quantities, and have no depth of character. Klosterman s explanation for such intrigue in zombies is their parallel to our day to day existence. He relates zombies to many real life activities, like going through a weekends worth of emails on Monday. Along with the constant saturation of news we can get from the internet, the concept of it being easy to close, or kill, and come in large quantities are very similar to zombies. Klosterman provides this as a better exploitation of the popularity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt that Klosterman did an excellent job in stating his point and backing it up. His examples were strong proof of his concepts and did not detract from the overall article. Klosterman s transitions were subtle, but were good enough to keep a consistent flow throughout the article. The only time that I felt the article was lacking in direction was the very last part. It highlighted the prepetition of people against zombies, which while still relevant, felt out of place. This did not make it a bad article, just something that I felt was out of ... These have been hot topics for sometime now but little seems to have happened so far in regards to legislation and actual action. In the eyes of many free college is nothing more than a dream at the moment and who could blame them, for alas the government is taking their time, in no hurry to swiftly respond to the pleas of citizens. However there was a plan in the works that Catherine Morris describes in her article Pay It Forward . She states, Obama proposed funding Americas College Promise to the tune of $60 billion and paying for it with a series of taxes including one controversial and short lived proposal to tax 529 college savings plans (13). This shows that the government has some willingness to approach the issue, but most likely they have found that it is going to be more difficult than imagined to apply reform in this area. Another plan that is currently in use and has a controversial funding method is the Tennessee Promise which supports college students who are going to attend community colleges for shorter lengths such as two years. The gray areas start to come in with the funding. Scholarships for four year students are cut to help students who will be in college for less time and who will subsequently acquire more debt. Despite these criticisms they are a step in the right direction even if they lay on some unsteady framework. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Failure Of The Shlieffen Moltke Plan The Schlieffen Moltke Plan; which was originally drawn up by Alfred von Schlieffen and reshaped by Helmuth von Moltke the Younger, failed to achieve its objectives in September 1914 was due to the changes of the original Schlieffen Plan implemented by Moltke the Younger, and his poor leadership shown throughout the execution of the plan The objective of the Schlieffen Moltke plan; which was a planned offensive assault by the German Empire, was to advance through Belgium and enter France through the Northern border. Once Belgium was defeated, the Germans wished to quickly overtake the French and move quickly to fight the Russians before they could mobilize. However, the plan turned into a major disaster due to the alterations that Moltke made before the Schlieffen Moltke Plan s execution, as well as the revisions made during the offensive. His changes allowed the Allies to prepare for this assault, and counter the attack. An issue that Moltke and the German army encountered was that the Belgian army would not allow them to march through without resistance. Moltke attempted to persuade the Belgian King Albert to grant the German army access through their country prior to the invasion. The request, however, failed to succeed as the Belgian King Albert declined, and did not allow the Germans to flow freely through their country. This led to a pre emptive attack on neutral Belgium, which effectively brought Great Britain into the war. The resistance that the Belgian s showed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author matches the courtroom case against Kabuo in the verbatim courtroom with the Japanese American community s case against their white government and fellow citizen in the courtroom of the past. The author shows how the past interactions influence the present. For instance, the reader learned that Kabuo was infuriated with Etta for selling the land that he thought belonged to his family during the testimony of Etta Heine. During Etta testimony the reader saw a flashback to a time before the war, which demonstrations to us that Etta has always felt bitter against the Japanese. Relationship Between Europeans And Native Americans The picture that one detects when thinking of the relationship between Native Americans and Europeans is depicted by circumstances that eventually shaped the New World. It is hard to imagine how different the world would be if today s society still used ancient indian traditions. A certain study indicated that the swamps where the indians lived in the Chesapeake were full of casualties. It was filled with disease and a vast variety of illnesses. With the high risk for disease it forced the Europeans to adjust several social forms that were being brought over from England. Alienated from the remainder of the world, the indians did not have a strong enough immune system to defend the diseases. This epidemic caused major dissolution in the not only the villages, but also within the European immigrants and african slaves. With the loss of older natives, this also meant loss of their heritage. Centuries of traditions, talents, and artistry were strayed. The sickness cause many of the elders to perish at once, meaning many of the traditions died along with them. Many Indians never even saw the face of a white or black man. As a result of the deaths, it is hard to imagine what traditions we might have carried on still to this day if so many had not perished. Although the Indians had many admirable talents, the Europeans respect for the natives was microscopic. When readers first met Snape in Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone, he was hated and feared as the teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin. However, it is not until the series nears its end in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, that the readers learn that Severus Snape was cruel and brutal for many reasons. One of the most controversial topics in literature is whether Snape was a villain or a hero. In agreement with the latter, I believe that Snape was a hero because he was selfless and brave. Severus Snape, although appearing ghastly and gruesome, was extremely selfless. The way he treated Harry Potter and a number of other students made him hated and disliked by many. Snape, a strict and feared teacher, appeared to be a very unpleasant person. However, not everything is what it seems. Behind the monster, was a selfless man who would do anything for love. The other outcome of formation of groups was that due to difference in interests of different groups, political parties could not work together hence the country landed into inconsistent leadership. • 31. City Expansion In Medieval Europe An inhabited bridge is defined according to Jean Dethier in Inhabited Bridges, past, present and future, An interview with Jean Dethier , in Living Bridges (1996) as follows: Definition of Inhabited Bridges: An inhabited Bridge in addition to its primary function of surmounting natural or man made obstacles, be they rivers or canals, railways or motorways serves as an organic link between two urban areas by connecting them to each other with a development of buildings erected on the bridge deck to form permanent accommodation for various social and economic activities. Thus, every inhabited bridge consists of two elements: the platform that spans the obstacle and an architectural superstructure. In contrasts to a purely vehicular bridge, the inhabited bridge provides a continuity within the urban fabric that is not only social and economic but also cultural, emotional and symbolic at a point where a natural break would otherwise exist. Indeed, it is both seductive and functional. Relative to these times, it was Lenin who directed the course of the oncoming Russian October Revolution. The outbreak of the unrest, in January 1905, found Lenin anxious to set down a novel strategy for revolution: the need for the proletariat (the working class) to win hegemony in the democratic revolution. These unaccepted behaviors are called social deviance, and these sanctions are enforced through two forms of social control: formal social control, and informal social control. Both of these forms of social control work towards achieving the same goal: discouraging violations of society s accepted behaviors, or social deviance, and punishing those who do. When people notice social deviance, they will use informal social control mechanisms including smiles, laughter, a raised eyebrow, and ridicule (Schaefer 149) to combat this deviance. For example, it is widely accepted in the United States that one should walk on the right side of the hallway, sidewalk, aisle, etc. However, there is no formally written rule or law stating that walking on the left side is unacceptable. Therefore, when someone walks on the left, there is no formal form of punishment. However, this person will likely be met with dirty looks or raised eyebrows from the people around them. The video advertisements, banner advertisements, interstitial advertisements, and in app purchases are the most popular and most effective way to gain money from this mobile application, and they will be used. Advertisements have become more popular within the past few years. The reason for this is because this generation, Generation X, is much more virtual friendly and much more reliant on technology. Bert Markgraf, the freelance writer and graduate of McGill University, speaks about this, saying: Mobile advertising has been increasing rapidly, both in volume and value. Over the last three months of 2012, average mobile ad rates increased by 50 percent and they retained most of the increase in January 2013. In January 2013, eCPM rates for Android devices remained high at $0.88 while those for iOS devices decreased from their peak to $1.08. iOS devices achieved consistently higher rates than Android devices by about 30 percent. With this information on hand, it is clear that making money using advertisements from mobile applications is not as challenging as it was five years ago.
