Boston Marathon Bombing
The Boston Marathon Bombings was one of the most recent large scale terrorist events to occur in the
United States. The Boston Bombings took place on April 15, 2013 and events unfolded for five
following days as law enforcement tracked down the suspects. Terrorists Dzhokhar and Tamerlan
Tsarnaev were responsible for the lives of three people and had injured over two hundred fifty others.
Research shows that the two brothers were part of the Islamic militancy movement. Tamerlan
Tsarnaev was killed in during the pursuit of the terrorists. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured after a
lengthy standoff and man hunt. The younger Tsarnaev was convicted of guilty of bombing a place of
public use, using weapons of mass destruction (WMD). He was also found ... Show more content on

It is imperative that law enforcement is mentally and emotionally prepared to handle any situation that
may occur. An example of some past situations include the Boston Bombings, the Oklahoma City
Bombing, the Beltway Sniper Attacks and the events on 9/11. In order to safely and effectively
complete a mission in a stressful situation, law enforcement must remain calm and confident in their
responsibilities. Although Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick was seen as a face of the overall
effort, he was not the key figure in all decision making. The key figures were the state and local police
department, especially Boston and Watertown. It was their responsibility to track down the location of
the terrorist bombers. The FBI, ATF and DHS certainly played an essential role as well, working with
the Russian government to gather intelligence on the

The Flaws Of State Led Humanitarianism
Since the turn of the century, the world has experienced various events that have rendered millions
homeless, starving or even without a country. Such events may range from merciless persecution by a
ruthless dictator to a furious tsunami that leaves destruction in its wake. In such incidents, it is human
nature to help those affected rebuild their lives and find comfort again. As a result, governments spend
billions on foreign aid projects aimed at helping populations rebuild themselves after a tragic event.
Despite the funding and resources spent on these projects, their success rate is dismal. Coyne s book
explains the flaws of state led humanitarianism. Using case studies that range from Afghanistan to
Haiti, Coyne successfully argues against state aid proving that continuing with that approach is likely
to remain unsuccessful. He further demonstrates that state aid fails to fulfill its mandate because the
parties involved are either too arrogant or ignorant to acknowledge fundamental flaws of state led aid.
He says that the influence of agenda driven opinions of blurs the objectives of financial assistance
from the beginning. Since governments focus on what they should, rather than what they can do, the
goals of the most aid funded projects in affected nations remain unrealized. In my opinion, Coyne s
work is very convincing because it methodically shows how aid moves from a state agency to the
project in question and the various parties in the middle that take away

Kim Jong-Un In North Korea
Over the past couple of years, North Korea s government has been recognized to make very irrational
decisions at times. North Korea has recently launched missiles near countries, have been caught
hacking technology of other countries, and even found killing their own government and military
officials. All of these events were fueled by the dictator of the country Kim jong UN. Kim comes from
a long dynasty of dictators of North Korea who has been shown to be very hostile to other countries
and even their own to get there way. Currently, many people think of North Korea s government as a
ticking time bomb just seconds away from exploding over any situations. The most frightening
possibility is that North Korea could release weapons of mass destruction ... Show more content on

Individualism Vs Collectivism
When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would be the
polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should be viewed
as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of what most citizens
deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black Sabbath s song War Pigs, in
which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the government, treating people just
like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a collective view of their population tend
to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler
(Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess. Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or
perhaps billions, of individuals according to individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective
body in the case of collectivism. Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a
screen) to the governing bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings
whose feelings and opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments
choose to manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be. A worthy modern example
would be North Korea, in which Kim Jong Un sees his people as a wave of biological matter. North
Koreans are forced to wear certain clothes, have certain haircuts, and essentially

Belinda Placing Blame in Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock
I will be examining lines 147 160 of Canto IV in The Rape of the Lock. In this selection, Belinda
speaks in a monologue, apparently regretting past actions that have caused her the loss of her lock.
However, it becomes clear that she is exaggerating her loss and the preventive measures she could
have taken. By citing radical changes that would have been necessary to prevent the occurrence, she
makes it clear that it is very difficult for a woman to escape men. In this manner, she is able to lay
most of the blame for the rape of the lock on the nature of men rather than her own vain lifestyle.
During her exaggerated monologue, Belinda will refer to events earlier ... Show more content on

For her, the entire day was a terrible day that will live in infamy forever. In lines 149 150 she says that
she would be ten times happier now if she had never even seen Hampton Court. These first four lines
introduce the mood of the passage, with Belinda implying that she regrets having lived life the way
she has. By saying Hampton Court these Eyes had never seen! (Pope IV. 150) she implies regret at
having spent time at Hampton Court and her actions there. This lock may symbolize her virginity,
which indeed was of great pride and value to women of the day. Had she known that this opulent
lifestyle would lead to the loss of her lock, or metaphorically, the loss of her virginity through rape,
she may have lived a more modest life.
In lines 150 151 Belinda is no longer solely blaming herself as she goes on to suggest that she is not
completely at fault for what has transpired. She makes the observation that she is not in any way the
first woman to have ever made the mistake of trusting men. Many other young virgin women before
her have also been lured by the love of the courts, popularity, and the social life only to be betrayed in
various ways. In lines 153 154 she speaks of how she would rather have not been admired and sought
after and instead lived secluded in some distant northern land or island. This may be implying that she
should have lived like religious puritan women. These women led chaste lives and many lived on the

Sea Turtle Poe
Sea Turtles and Poe
Sea turtles need to posses the traits of a solitary animal because they are left by their family at birth. A
good name for a sea turtle would be Edgar Allan Poe because Poe lost many family members and
acquaintances throughout his life. Also, Poe lived in solitude for the majority of his life which made
him acquire the loner trait. A mother sea turtle lays her eggs and then goes off to sea, leaving her
babies to fend for themselves. When the baby sea turtles hatch from their eggs, they begin their
journey towards the sea. Many babies are picked off by seagulls and other larger animals (Means n.

tuberculosis. This makes the sea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the sea turtles do make it to sea, they spend most of their life alone until they find their partner
(Means n. pag). Poe did not find much acceptance throughout his life and did not have many
acquaintances. Sea turtles are very vulnerable animals. Many sea turtles are hunted by humans and
other large predators for meat, eggs, skin, and shells. In addition, sea turtles are becoming increasingly
vulnerable due to habitat destruction. Many types of pollutants and human interactions are destroying
the seas, which are the homes of sea turtles ( Sea n.pag). Edgar Allan Poe was a very vulnerable
person because he dealt many issues in his life. Edgar Allan Poe s issues ranged from alcoholism to
depression, as well as drug addiction. These circumstances make both Poe and sea turtles extremely
vulnerable individuals. In addition, both sea turtles and Edgar Allan Poe are similar because they both
migrate throughout their lives. Migration in sea turtles is an extraordinarily big deal; some sea turtles
have been known to travel as far as 50,000 miles (Expert n. pag) Poe, although he did not make a huge
migration, did move from place to place throughout his life. He started out in Boston, then he attended
a boys school in England at age 6, and went to New York City in 1831, just to name a few (Giordano

Descriptive Essay About Love
Finding Love
As I walk into the Homeward Animal Shelter for my dog walking shift, I think of the reason I began
my weekly volunteering. I want to give love, in any way I can, to the animals who have been left by
the ones they love. These animals that I spend an hour and a half with every Sunday need to know that
someone loves them. That they have not been forgotten about and it gets better. After spending the
summer with my aunt and uncle, I learned that. As I watched their newest rescue dog Snoop open up
to me after 3 years and watching his mile stones. For a dog that was abandoned by his family and left
on the street, bounced between the shelter and temporary homes, he has finally found permanent love
in our family.
Snoop s journey into our family began when his family abandoned him and his little chihuahua
brother on the side of the road. They fended for each other for days until they were brought to the
pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop,
being a pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS), a
rescue center specializing in Shepherds. His white coat made him easy to love, but after the treatment
of his last family he did not easily love others. Once Snoop had come out of his shell, not so
sheepishly hiding from the shelter staff, he was moved into a foster home. Here in this foster home he
started to become the dog my family knows today. Living with another Shepherd helped him

Analysis Of The Crutaltery And The Lottery
Stoning or Hanging?
...sign myself to lies, because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang... (Miller 105). The
Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller that tells the history about innocent people being hanged,
because of this group of girls who lied that they ve seen the devil with some of the other people in the
village and the court took their word over anyone else s. The short story The Lottery is written by
Shirley Jackson about an annual ceremony of a drawing to see who will get stoned to death and this
tradition has been going on since the very first villagers. The Lottery is more disturbing than The
Crucible because the participants is everyone living in the village, the punishment for The Lottery is
torturous, and the ceremony was annual, since it was a tradition.
The Lottery is more disturbing than The Crucible because the participants is everyone living in the
village. True enough Arthur Miller has his characters somewhat participate in these hangings, but they
participate in a different way. The villagers in The Crucible differ when it comes to their role in the
witch trials. Some believe the girls lies, while others speak out against them, which is actually not a lot
of people during this. On the other hand, The Lottery has only one type of participants in their village,
which are the ones who agree to everything, help and don t speak out against the tradition no matter
how wrong it is. No one looks down on this event, that everyone joins in, even if a parent was chosen
their children would also help stone them as well. Come on, come on, everyone. (Jackson 5). Old Man
Warner says this as they were about to throw stones at Mrs. Hutchinson until she finally died. It isn t
fair, it isn t right, Mrs.Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her. (Jackson 5). She didn t want
this to happen, but she did before, because she wanted to participate in it as well. In addition, no one
reacts to the tradition. Everyone seems okay with it and doesn t try and stop or speak out about it.
Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys soon followed his
example, selecting the smoothest and roundest stones... (Jackson 1). The kids are

Analysis Of `` Sapphire s Novel `` Push ``
Sapphire uses language to control how readers react the her novel Push, she attempts to impose
feelings of anger, helplessness, and hope onto her readers. The story follows Precious through two
years of her life, during which she experience all the emotions that Sapphire imposes on the reader.
This is to make readers empathize with Precious. Sapphire carefully chooses her words, using
specially chosen phrases at certain integral points in the novel. By doing so, she gives each word
significant meaning. Her language usage emphasizes Precious intelligence, something that is
continually questioned throughout the novel. Precious is often reduced to a stereotype by her mother

Precious still believes in love and home, though it is possible that she has never been shown love, and
may have never felt as though she had a home. She knows what love is, and that she feels it for her
child. Precious has not let her circumstances dictate her future, she is refusing to become just another
stereotype. Sapphire illustrates this conviction by the line [l]isten baby, Muver love you. Muver not
dumb (Sapphire 66). Given that fuck is the only word spelled correctly in Precious alphabet, it most
likely has an important meaning in her life. Fuck, as an adjective is usually used to express strong,
often negative, emotion. Precious uses it frequently throughout both the narrative and her journal
entries, it is reasonable to assume she cannot easily express her emotions, and therefore resorts to
profanities. Fuck is not a word usually taught in school, and it is unlikely that Precious parents taught
her how to spell much of anything; therefore Precious most likely learned how to spell the word from
graffiti, which further illustrates the conditions in which Precious grew up. Even though she has
spelled nothing else in her alphabet correctly, Precious knows how to spell fuck and how to use it
correctly in all matters of speech. Sapphire uses fuck to demonstrate Precious internalized negative
emotions. Using fuck as a verb indicates the act of having sex, though it is being expressed in a lewd
manner. To say fucking rather

Outline Of Historical Views On Child Welfare Workforce And...
Week 1 Child Welfare Workforce and NASW Standards Provide an overview of historical views on
children and identify how this will impact your role in empowering families, protecting children from
maltreatment, and engaging in ethical decision making as a child welfare worker. Historically,
children were viewed very differently than they are today. Adults thought of children as being seen
and not heard. Children were expected to work in textile factories or as chimney sweeps in order to
provide for their families. They did not have rights and in the family, children followed the rule do as
you re told so they would survive. It was not until 1875 when the thought of the rights of children
came about. Rights of children stemmed from their status dependent, immature individuals who
require care, protection, and guidance to survive and flourish, (Downs, Moore McFadden, 2009, p. 7).
Politicians thought children deserved an education and protection, so they introduced child saving
activities that advocated for the improving the lives of and conditions for children. Since this was
enacted orphanages were developed for communities that experienced disasters and orphan trains
helped in resettling over 100,000 children. In 1924 the League of Nations approved the Geneva
Declaration of of the Rights of a Child which gave children rights such as receiving food, healthcare,
protection, and shelter (Strohm, Powerpoint, September 3). Having the history is beneficial because it

The Unknown Saga Men Of Icelandic Family Sagas
The unknown saga men of Icelandic Family Sagas who wrote in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries
utilized a plethora of writing techniques to portray the lives of native Icelanders from roughly 930 to
1030. Throughout this period, Family Sagas progressed from choppy, scattered life stories to literary
masterpieces laced with dark humor and adventure. However, sagas sometimes stray from the truth
due to the saga men s tendencies to romanticize the past, use interstitial expansion, and edit
manuscripts to fit Christian morals. Written in the 9th and 10th centuries (and put together in the 13th
century) The Book of Settlements is an important reference for all sagas about to be discussed. It takes
place during the age of settlement (870 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The organization of Olaf s saga is loosely additive in the fact that none of the chapters seem to lead to
each other and chapters are often repeated. Such as chapters 37 and 55 where it is the same story of
king Olaf slapping a queen, but in one he does so because she wouldn t convert to Christianity, and in
the other he does so because he was caught giving her a false gold arm band. This seemingly
accidental repetition and misplacement of narratives could have happened for a variety of reasons, but
the most likely is that since Oddr wrote the saga as he interviewed people, he would be forced to put
narratives pertaining to earlier stories at the end of the manuscript because there was no way for him
to copy and paste and add it to the beginning. Since all chapters after 25 were written from solely oral
accounts, interstitial expansion plagues the Saga to the point that it is hard to tell what actually
happened and what is completely made up, for example the scene where Olaf gets married in Winland
probably never even happened. Usually after demonic or paranormal activities are mentioned, Oddr
interludes to write in his own thoughts. An example of this happening is in chapter 43 when Odin
appears to Olaf. Oddr feels it necessary to comment his own thoughts due to the monostatic lens that
he has, because he is after all a monk writing in a monastery. When he writes about paranormal events
he feels the need to let his audience know that he doesn t believe

The Perception Of Human Attitudes And Values
From this class I learned that the circumstances that you are born into and raised in help shape who
you become. Our attitudes and values are shaped early on by those who around us most frequently and
hold positions of power in our estimation. As children we both listen and observe the adults around us.
Without realizing it, we often take on their points of view until we are challenged. Moreover, few
people realize that their deeply held beliefs actually exist because of someone else. Most people are
not challenged on their beliefs and values, instead we tend to congregate with other people who share
and reinforce our values. When we are challenged and even presented with empirical facts that run
counter to our beliefs we are hesitant to change our minds. This is called belief perseverance. Humans
use inductive reasoning to support their cognitive bias. Most humans do this. It is hard to simply let of
an ingrained notion and take a counter stance. Since facts and information to the contrary does not
work effectively to change people s minds, the only option is repeated exposure and experience with
the irrefutable facts. An example would be someone being raised to believe that all homosexual men
are also violent pedophiles, despite not knowing any homosexual men in real life. Simply telling them
that this is not the case is not likely to change their minds, but repeated positive experiences with a
friendly gay neighbor who is a parent, a doctor, a church goer and never

A language sample was elicited during the last hour of the evaluation. The sample was transcribed and

Andrea enthusiastically participated with the examiner during the language sample. She initiated the

occasionally forgot a part of the game, but always corrected herself for any confusion. Her speech was

representation of Andrea s language abilities as the game required several complex explanations in
which she performed well.
Throughout the conversation, Andrea displayed a mastery of complex syntactic and morphological

Child Labor During A Nike Factory
CHILD LABOR IN A NIKE FACTORY IN PAKISTAN Abstract This paper especially focuses on the
problem of Child Labor in Pakistan with respect to the case of the world renowned sports brand Nike
and its use of children in its factories in Pakistan. A set of laws that can be established to eradicate this
evil from Pakistan have been elaborated upon in the paper, these proposals include the Trafficking
Victim Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), the International Human Right Treaty by the
General Assembly, International Criminal Court (ICC), penalty laws for businesses practicing child
labor, system to inspect workplaces for child labor and holding employers responsible for the
education of the employed children. The recommendations section of the paper deals with methods
beside laws that can aid in the eradication of child labor and includes negative publicity, introducing a
rating mechanism and dealing with competing (and ethically more sound) organizations. Outline I.
Introduction: A. Thesis statement: Because child labor is practiced in Pakistan at a Nike factory, I

The Industry
The grocery industry in the United States is currently an attractive industry (a.k.a. profitable).
This attractiveness derives from the relative low threat of new entrants, low supplier and buyer
powers, and low threat of substitutes. The main factors driving these results are the low concentration
of suppliers and buyers, the significant barriers to entry due to high up front investment costs (for
infrastructure and distribution channels) and scale economies, low availability of substitutes 1, and the
threat of retaliation from incumbents (by lowering price, for example). However, it is ... Show more

Given the situation described in the previous paragraphs and on the exhibits, Trader Joe s should
consider the following two recommendations for its future growth: Start a social media campaign and
emphasize on the organic food movement by branding organic products with the Trader
Joe s name.
For the social media campaign to match TJ s culture, the company should emphasize on artsy online
platforms such as Instagram, to integrate photos and hashtags, Twitter, to tweet about new products or
recipes, and Vimeo, to upload videos of their recipes, instead of Facebook and
YouTube which go beyond the TJ s target market of educated individuals. Also, in order to take
advantage of smart devices, TJ should develop an app for iOS and Android that could integrate both
platforms, the online website, and the online fan base that currently exists.
Trader Joe s should also engage in branding its own line of organic products (including meats).
Since competition is rapidly moving into TJ s strategic group (given the low mobility barriers), the
company should make use of its established brand (associated with quality and uniqueness) and strong
supplier relations in order to further enhance its participation on

Citizenship Is An Outdated Notion Of The 21st Century
Citizenship is an outdated notion in the 21st century. Critically discuss this statement.
Citizenship can be defined as the position or status of being a citizen in a particular country (Oxford
Dictionaries, 2016). This definition is not very broad, nor does it cover the many aspects of citizenship
that exist in the 21st century. It is not only about being a legal citizen of a particular country, it is also
about being a social citizen. You can be a citizen of Australia but choose to live elsewhere for the
majority of your life. In terms of citizenship it is relevant on a political and social level. If you are
actively contributing to the country in which you live in some ways you are fulfilling your duties as a
citizen.
Citizenship will always be a relevant concept because when you are a citizen of a particular country it
comes with a sense of belonging. There is a feeling of pride when you become a citizen of a country.
In particular, if your family is from that country it can help to gain a sense of community with those
around you. It is important for people to feel that they are citizens of the same country as their
children. Sometimes legal citizenship changes a person s perspective and they feel that they belong
but often there is still a chance people may be excluded based on external factors, for example, they
have a different religion to the majority of a particular community. That s why it is important for
people to be social citizens as well so that they can

Marx s View On Materialism And Religious Self Alienation
This week s readings presented Marx s thought of Feuerbach s work, whose concepts I am not familiar
with, however, I can infer that Feuerbach has discussed materialism and religious self alienation in
length; and explored Marx s view on materialism, production of consciousness, communism and much
more. The collection of Marx s theses and his other writings reflected upon many of his doctrines,
including materialism, religion, and alienation, but perhaps the most iconic work would be his
empathy on propertyless labor selling their labor and humanity to their oppressor, property owners.
This exploration seems to be absolute and inevitable under his vision of capitalism. While it is most
certainly true for a majority of labors, it cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He used the class struggle in France and the coup d etat as an example to strengthen his argument,
dictatorship will always be the nature of the bourgeoisie. The oppression may have dynamic forms,
but it will always haunt the working class. Their cognizance of the regime s true intent and their
interest will unite them against the ruling class. Hard to argue against that as it is debatable whether
are there countries that follow Marx s communism, and France did not follow the ideology of
communism. Assuming China does follow his doctrine of communism, how can he justify the
oppression that the government agencies enforce against ordinary citizens? Labors are still being
exploited; the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. This seems to contradict with his stands on the
advantages of communisms. The proletariat has a history of participating in lengthy revolutions, yet
progress on their working condition and fair treatment are still backtracking. Judging from Hegel s

Margibi County In Monrovia
METHODS
Context and community description
Home to more than 200,000 people, Margibi County is the second most densely populated county in
Liberia. Located in the South Central region of Liberia, it borders Montserrado county, home of nation
s capital of Monrovia. Residents here experience extreme rates of poverty most without access to
essential assets, electricity, running water, or flushable toilets (LISGIS citation). Margibi County
residents also experience substantial barriers to accessing healthcare. The Liberia Institute of Statistics
and Geo Information Services report that between 56 69% of Margibi residents live more than 40
minutes from the nearest health facility (citation needed), a fact that had exacerbated the challenges

Both the Epi Info VHF and DHIS 2 databases were cleaned and prepared by epidemiology department
staff at the WHO Country Office, Liberia to produce a historical dataset of unduplicated cases.
Consistent with the WHO s Ebola Situation Reports, three categories of EVD incidence were included
in this study suspected, probable, and confirmed cases. Suspected cases included any person that had
experienced symptoms consistent with EVD (e.g., high fever, vomiting) or had come in contact with
persons that had suffered symptoms of EVD or a dead or sick animal. Probable cases are defined as
those suspected cases evaluated by a physician. Confirmed cases are those suspected cases that were
confirmed positive for EVD antigen through laboratory testing. Including suspected cases, rather than
those persons examined by a physician or experienced laboratory confirmation for EVD diagnosis,
captures persons without access to healthcare, an important segment among those affected by the

Vector Aeromotive Corporation Summary
Mayela Everts Accounting 6302 Vector Aeromotive Corporation Vector sold exotic sports cars and
was the only US based manufacturer. Their major competition, Ferrari and Lamborghini, took up 75%
of the market share. Gerry s idea was to make a car based off of aerospace technology. They created
the V8 twin turbo which was highly advanced and priced. After selling a total of 13 cars, 45 people
were employed. Vector built two other models to increase sell volume and decrease losses. Vector s
Board of Directors composed of 3 individuals, Berry with a background in real estate; John, a
financial consultant, and Vector s CFO; and Gerry, the president of Vector. Berry and John grew to
disagree with Gerry more often; therefore, Gerry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Djody sent $220,000 to Vector according to this agreement. Then Gerry revoked the deal by claiming
he was under the impression that his option would only be used as collateral for the loan and not
transferred. Djodi conducted business based on trust and Gerry broke this trust for Vector. He would
no longer invest in the company, but keep Dorpi on the board to protect his previous investments. In
1992 the company s taxes were not paid in time which caused some debate about disclosures in the 10
K. Also, after hosting a babysitter it was imminent that Gerry was furnishing his own home with
company expenses. They decided to call a meeting where Gerry was going to be formally asked to
resign on March 22, 1993. If he declined he would be fired by the board. When the day of the meeting
arrived Gerry Wiegert locked himself inside Vector headquarters. The Board of Directors consisted
primarily of Gerry Wiegert, John Pope, and Barry Rosengrant. Gerry was the President, so it was
typical for him to be a part of the board. John Pope was a financial consultant; therefore, he was
adequate to be the financially literate person on the board. Barry was in real estate, but he was a
consultant of Vector Car which gave him some knowledge of the company. Dan Harnett and George
Fencl were also a part of the board for some point of time; they also had adequate knowledge to be
capable additions to the board with their knowledge of law and

The OgDaodth had genetically engineered his people to be...
The OgDaodth had genetically engineered his people to be their slaves. He did not have any physical
similarities to his Mother at all; he seemed to be most like his father Mythrus. Alaric s physical
features were very similar to Mythrus; also, his character very much resembled Mythrus nature.
Mythrus was a builder and engineer. His tribe s genetic specialization endowed them with the innate
aptitude to design, engineer, and build. The builders were the beasts of burden and were known for
their strength, endurance and the superior quality of their artisanship and planning. Due to this genetic
enhancement, his body also swiftly adapted to any environment. The baleful forest that he over looked

Leaving the place cloaked in shades of blues, grays and magentas. The energy of the haze was so
intense it built a wall around him, the effect it created was disorientating. It felt as if he were standing
in between the strings of time. It was as if he was not firmly rooted in any particular place or time.
That he was somehow detached from the world around him viewing the people, places, and events
through the strings of time, from some other place, time, and body. He had climbed the cliffs not only
to get away from that sensation, but also to try to get a better overview of the landscape; hoping he
might sight a pathway through the for est. The ground of the forest was enchanted; the vines that
covered it were like a hydra. They were impervious to magic, and fire. The more you cut them the
faster they grew. If you stood still for too long the forest floor would grow around your feet
intertwining between your legs. He stared at the darkened forest and watched it, as it appeared to
writhe and taunt him and felt his frustration rise yet again. Alaric rarely encountered an obstacle that
he could not readily overcome. In fact, it had been a very long time since he had experienced any sort
of challenge in his life. This journey had been a long series of delays and chal lenges, each one
spilling into the next without end. He knew the general direction he was supposed to go in, but had no
idea of his final destination. From the beginning, it

Reacted Irrational By Dan Ariely
The book Predictably Irrational was written by Dan Ariely in 2008, and it is considered to be a best
seller in the United States. Dan Ariely is a professor of Duke University and works in the new field of
Behavioral Economics. The book is mostly focused on helping us better understand our decision
making processes, and also become an unavoidable source of information when creating public policy.
Ariely focused in why people make irrational decisions, He conducted 13 experiments and he explains
every single one of them. He also teaches us that we have no idea of things and also keeping too many
doors open has a higher than what those opportunities really worth. In addition Dan Ariely want to
teach us the mysterious way of the human mind, of why we do what we do in certain situations and
why we act totally irrationally. The author gives different examples on experiment made on top
universities.i will give brief summary of most of the chapters, in order to better understand the main
idea that the author tried to bring by writing the book.
The book starts with an introductory chapter, were Ariely described how it came to their research area
after a very painful experience: for years he endure medical treatment for third degree burns sustained
in 70% of the body in an accident. His first research was on the ways in which people face the pain,
and how, specifically, nurses who generously assisted in his treatment, appeared to be victims of

Reflection Paper On Mechanical Engineering
I believe research is an extremely dynamic process. As time passes, certain areas of research are
becoming more salient, while others require less attention. My areas of research are in mechanical
systems and solid mechanics. My general research question is how the modeling and designing of
components and systems can support engineers toward a sustainable design of products or systems in
energy and transportation applications.
My primary research focuses on designing mechanical systems/components and investigating
mechanical interactions between machine components. The treatments required a truly
multidisciplinary research effort span the entire mechanical systems and solid mechanics spectrums of
mechanical engineering. The research involved design, development, and experimental verifications
of mechanical components and systems, and account for parameters that influence their interactions.
My experience and knowledge has led me to expand my research to account for failure of machine
components and systems with applications in automotive, aerospace, and oil and gas industries such as
automotive brake systems and clutches, aircraft landing gears, and drilling downhole assembly.
For the past few years, I directed my research towered development of mechanical systems and
devices for oil and gas industries. The research involve modeling the downhole assembly and
fabricating systems/setups and mechanisms to imitate deep drilling (high temperature and high
pressure drilling

Essay about Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord...
Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord Byron s Texts Works Cited Missing Two closely related
texts, one that we ve studied in this class and one that we haven t, that handle natural description
differently are Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lord Byron s Manfred. Both of these
texts central characters have experienced trauma, and their portrayal of their environments reveal the
effects that the events have left on them. While Coleridge s mariner is unable to consolidate his past
and is relegated to constantly relive it, Byron s Manfred has protected himself from his unnamed vice
by distancing himself from his feelings and environment. Obvious parallels exist between the poems,
but what I found most striking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This image accomplishes two things: 1) It tells the reader how he views himself, comparing himself to
a thousand thousand slimy things (l 237). 2) And it shows how he views the outside world, as a
corrupted, threatening environment. These descriptions reflect the events well enough to determine
that the mariner is attempting to accurately relive/retell the events. While making it sound as if it s for
the benefit of those that he s telling, the arbitrariness of selecting the audience and the ambiguity of
the story s message discredit the mariner s suggestion and imply that the stories retelling is for the
mariner s benefit. Again, Coleridge s mariner and Byron s Manfred share in their experiences of
trauma but differ in their attempts to overcome it. The psychological analogy that working through
trauma mirrors the habituation of an event can explain this difference. By repeatedly attempting to
experience the trauma, the mariner tries to get use to his past to reconcile with his emotions. Manfred
has successfully completed this process. The downfall with habituation is that you eventually become
desensitized to that stimuli and therefore lose a connection with the environment, which is exactly
Manfred s situation. The descriptions in Byron s text seem, largely, distant emotionally and physically.
He doesn t attempt to revisit his

Van Gogh Major Accomplishments
There were many great and famous artists in the world,, some of which weren t famous until they
were dead and the only thing that remained of them was the artwork, Like my artist Van Gogh. Van
Gogh was considered a very dark artist. Most of his work was quite depressing to look at so people
didn t like his art until a later time when he started traveling more and started making bright pastel and
colorful pieces. That was the first time he was noticed. There are some very interesting facts about Van
Gogh, for example his full name is Vincent Willem Van Gogh. He was also born in Holland and he
had a brother who shared the same name with him. Many people know him for his art but not many
people know that he was actually meant to be a pastor but he found a greater connection to art, which
he didn t start doing until he was 27. When he finally started doing his art it wasn t very popular, so he

Besides his mother Anna he had several siblings and a father named Theodorus. He used pastels and
mainly did portraits in his art. Van Gogh made his best art when he was in an asylum. He put himself
in the asylum with his brother because one night he tried to commit suicide and he wanted to be
restrained from doing so. The asylum is also where he died supposedly, his death is partial mystery. It
is believed he either died in the arms of his brother, or he was killed by his brother or an assassin.
People remember Van Gogh for many reasons, mainly his most popular piece of art, Starry Night.
People love his brighter pictures with pastels and magical environments. He wanted his darker first art
pieces to be his popular. However they weren t popular. He was also known for being very depressed
and morbid throughout his art, even in his brighter

John F. Kennedy
The first Roman Catholic president, John F. Kennedy, fought through many hardships. Becoming the
president at the age of 43, he went through many difficult trials to get that role due to his religion and
health. Although he died early, he still managed to go beyond his presidential duties and accomplished
a lot during his short term. John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Ever since he was little, he has had very poor health. He suffered from a variety of diseases and
conditions such as mumps, German measles, chicken pox, infections, and repeated bronchitis. When
he was three, he almost died from scarlet fever. At the age of fourteen, he only weighed one hundred
seventeen pounds and had such a thin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On January 20, 1961, Kennedy pledged as the 35th president of the United States(source 1). To
prepare for his address, Kennedy carefully studied famous American speeches, such as the Gettysburg
Address, and copied their style. It s content was almost specifically about matters of the world outside
of the United States. He spoke about the issues that were on many American s minds: peace, national
security, and creating a just and free world. One of the things he said in it was,
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear in burden,
meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty.
(source 3)
He also said, My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for
your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together
we can do for the freedom of man. (source 2) Kennedy s presidency lasted less than three years.
During this time, he established the Peace Corps, an organization that enabled young Americans to
volunteer in developing countries around the world. He also helped prevent a nuclear catastrophe in
the Cuban Missile Crisis. Kennedy surrounded himself with liberal intellectuals and moderate
conservatives adopting strong executive leadership drawing on

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Analysis
Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a disease process that requires specific, intensive care to
increase the odds of patient survival. Due to the rapid and significant decline in a patient s ability to
maintain their respiratory status, ventilation techniques in treating acute respiratory distress syndrome
are specific and unique. Multiple techniques have been studied extensively and a few stand above the
rest in changing the mortality rate. High frequency percussive ventilation and high frequency
oscillatory ventilation may be good options for ventilating some of the most critical patients.

HFOV had a closer margin of mortality to the conventional group with only a difference of 2%
favoring conventional ventilation, compared to the Oscillate trial which concluded with a difference of
12% also favoring the conventional ventilation

Severe Acne Vulgaris
In today s day and age, many people, from infants to young children to middle aged adults, suffer
from acne. According to the Canadian Dermatology Association, acne is the most common skincare
problem addressed by doctors (2016). Generally speaking, acne comes in many different forms such
as white heads, black heads, cysts, pimples, and different bumps on the skin affecting people of all
ages.
Acne Vulgaris, otherwise understood as the medical name of acne, is a well known chronic disorder
that is associated with increased sebum secretion, according to the National Library of Medicine
(2013).
Obstruction of the sebaceous follicle is the primary pathologic event in acne, giving rise to the
microcomedo, the precursor of all acne lesions (Woodard, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This finally leads to an inflammatory response seen as papules, pustules, and nodules. The bacterium
also causes the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing the inflammatory process
in the follicle (EFPIA, 2016)
Severe acne with associated systemic signs and symptoms, such as fever, is referred to as acne
fulminans. Severe acne, characterized by multiple comedones, without the presence of systemic
symptoms, is known as acne conglobata. This severe form of acne typically heals with lasting scars.
Local symptoms of acne vulgaris may include pain, tenderness, or even erythema (Informed Health,
2013).
Although acne is seen to only affect the main organ, the skin, different systems of the body are
affected in unison, including the endocrine system, immune system, circulatory system, nervous
system and the digestive system. The long term complications of acne remain as psychological
damage. Many can develop lasting scarring from the skin irritations including atrophic scars,
hypertrophic scars, and keloid scars. While the experience of acne may not be deemed as life
threatening, it does carry with it significant psychological disability (Rubin, Kim, Logan, 2008). The
psychological aspect of acne includes higher rates

  • 2. Boston Marathon Bombing The Boston Marathon Bombings was one of the most recent large scale terrorist events to occur in the United States. The Boston Bombings took place on April 15, 2013 and events unfolded for five following days as law enforcement tracked down the suspects. Terrorists Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were responsible for the lives of three people and had injured over two hundred fifty others. Research shows that the two brothers were part of the Islamic militancy movement. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in during the pursuit of the terrorists. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured after a lengthy standoff and man hunt. The younger Tsarnaev was convicted of guilty of bombing a place of public use, using weapons of mass destruction (WMD). An example of some past situations include the Boston Bombings, the Oklahoma City Bombing, the Beltway Sniper Attacks and the events on 9/11. In order to safely and effectively complete a mission in a stressful situation, law enforcement must remain calm and confident in their responsibilities. Although Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick was seen as a face of the overall effort, he was not the key figure in all decision making. The key figures were the state and local police department, especially Boston and Watertown. It was their responsibility to track down the location of the terrorist bombers. • 3. The Flaws Of State Led Humanitarianism Since the turn of the century, the world has experienced various events that have rendered millions homeless, starving or even without a country. Such events may range from merciless persecution by a ruthless dictator to a furious tsunami that leaves destruction in its wake. In such incidents, it is human nature to help those affected rebuild their lives and find comfort again. As a result, governments spend billions on foreign aid projects aimed at helping populations rebuild themselves after a tragic event. Despite the funding and resources spent on these projects, their success rate is dismal. Coyne s book explains the flaws of state led humanitarianism. Using case studies that range from Afghanistan to Haiti, Coyne successfully argues against state aid proving that continuing with that approach is likely to remain unsuccessful. He further demonstrates that state aid fails to fulfill its mandate because the parties involved are either too arrogant or ignorant to acknowledge fundamental flaws of state led aid. He says that the influence of agenda driven opinions of blurs the objectives of financial assistance from the beginning. Since governments focus on what they should, rather than what they can do, the goals of the most aid funded projects in affected nations remain unrealized. In my opinion, Coyne s work is very convincing because it methodically shows how aid moves from a state agency to the project in question and the various parties in the middle that take away ... North Korea has recently launched missiles near countries, have been caught hacking technology of other countries, and even found killing their own government and military officials. All of these events were fueled by the dictator of the country Kim jong UN. Kim comes from a long dynasty of dictators of North Korea who has been shown to be very hostile to other countries and even their own to get there way. • 5. Individualism Vs Collectivism When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would be the polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should be viewed as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of what most citizens deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black Sabbath s song War Pigs, in which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the government, treating people just like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a collective view of their population tend to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler (Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess. Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or perhaps billions, of individuals according to individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective body in the case of collectivism. Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a screen) to the governing bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings whose feelings and opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments choose to manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be. A worthy modern example would be North Korea, in which Kim Jong Un sees his people as a wave of biological matter. North Koreans are forced to wear certain clothes, have certain haircuts, and essentially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Belinda Placing Blame in Alexander Pope s The Rape of the... Belinda Placing Blame in Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock I will be examining lines 147 160 of Canto IV in The Rape of the Lock. In this selection, Belinda speaks in a monologue, apparently regretting past actions that have caused her the loss of her lock. However, it becomes clear that she is exaggerating her loss and the preventive measures she could have taken. By citing radical changes that would have been necessary to prevent the occurrence, she makes it clear that it is very difficult for a woman to escape men. In this manner, she is able to lay most of the blame for the rape of the lock on the nature of men rather than her own vain lifestyle. During her exaggerated monologue, Belinda will refer to events earlier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For her, the entire day was a terrible day that will live in infamy forever. In lines 149 150 she says that she would be ten times happier now if she had never even seen Hampton Court. These first four lines introduce the mood of the passage, with Belinda implying that she regrets having lived life the way she has. By saying Hampton Court these Eyes had never seen! (Pope IV. 150) she implies regret at having spent time at Hampton Court and her actions there. This lock may symbolize her virginity, which indeed was of great pride and value to women of the day. Had she known that this opulent lifestyle would lead to the loss of her lock, or metaphorically, the loss of her virginity through rape, she may have lived a more modest life. In lines 150 151 Belinda is no longer solely blaming herself as she goes on to suggest that she is not completely at fault for what has transpired. She makes the observation that she is not in any way the first woman to have ever made the mistake of trusting men. Many other young virgin women before her have also been lured by the love of the courts, popularity, and the social life only to be betrayed in various ways. In lines 153 154 she speaks of how she would rather have not been admired and sought after and instead lived secluded in some distant northern land or island. This may be implying that she should have lived like religious puritan women. These women led chaste lives and many lived on the sparsely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A good name for a sea turtle would be Edgar Allan Poe because Poe lost many family members and acquaintances throughout his life. Also, Poe lived in solitude for the majority of his life which made him acquire the loner trait. A mother sea turtle lays her eggs and then goes off to sea, leaving her babies to fend for themselves. • 10. Descriptive Essay About Love Finding Love As I walk into the Homeward Animal Shelter for my dog walking shift, I think of the reason I began my weekly volunteering. I want to give love, in any way I can, to the animals who have been left by the ones they love. These animals that I spend an hour and a half with every Sunday need to know that someone loves them. That they have not been forgotten about and it gets better. After spending the summer with my aunt and uncle, I learned that. As I watched their newest rescue dog Snoop open up to me after 3 years and watching his mile stones. For a dog that was abandoned by his family and left on the street, bounced between the shelter and temporary homes, he has finally found permanent love in our family. Snoop s journey into our family began when his family abandoned him and his little chihuahua brother on the side of the road. They fended for each other for days until they were brought to the pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop, being a pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS), a rescue center specializing in Shepherds. His white coat made him easy to love, but after the treatment of his last family he did not easily love others. The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller that tells the history about innocent people being hanged, because of this group of girls who lied that they ve seen the devil with some of the other people in the village and the court took their word over anyone else s. The short story The Lottery is written by Shirley Jackson about an annual ceremony of a drawing to see who will get stoned to death and this tradition has been going on since the very first villagers. The Lottery is more disturbing than The Crucible because the participants is everyone living in the village, the punishment for The Lottery is torturous, and the ceremony was annual, since it was a tradition. The Lottery is more disturbing than The Crucible because the participants is everyone living in the village. True enough Arthur Miller has his characters somewhat participate in these hangings, but they participate in a different way. The villagers in The Crucible differ when it comes to their role in the witch trials. Some believe the girls lies, while others speak out against them, which is actually not a lot of people during this. On the other hand, The Lottery has only one type of participants in their village, which are the ones who agree to everything, help and don t speak out against the tradition no matter how wrong it is. No one looks down on this event, that everyone joins in, even if a parent was chosen their children would also help stone them as well. Come on, come on, everyone. (Jackson 5). Old Man Warner says this as they were about to throw stones at Mrs. Hutchinson until she finally died. It isn t fair, it isn t right, Mrs.Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her. (Jackson 5). She didn t want this to happen, but she did before, because she wanted to participate in it as well. In addition, no one reacts to the tradition. Sapphire illustrates this conviction by the line [l]isten baby, Muver love you. Muver not dumb (Sapphire 66). Given that fuck is the only word spelled correctly in Precious alphabet, it most likely has an important meaning in her life. Fuck, as an adjective is usually used to express strong, often negative, emotion. Precious uses it frequently throughout both the narrative and her journal entries, it is reasonable to assume she cannot easily express her emotions, and therefore resorts to profanities. Week 1 Child Welfare Workforce and NASW Standards Provide an overview of historical views on children and identify how this will impact your role in empowering families, protecting children from maltreatment, and engaging in ethical decision making as a child welfare worker. Historically, children were viewed very differently than they are today. Adults thought of children as being seen and not heard. Children were expected to work in textile factories or as chimney sweeps in order to provide for their families. They did not have rights and in the family, children followed the rule do as you re told so they would survive. It was not until 1875 when the thought of the rights of children came about. Rights of children stemmed from their status dependent, immature individuals who require care, protection, and guidance to survive and flourish, (Downs, Moore McFadden, 2009, p. 7). Politicians thought children deserved an education and protection, so they introduced child saving activities that advocated for the improving the lives of and conditions for children. Since this was enacted orphanages were developed for communities that experienced disasters and orphan trains helped in resettling over 100,000 children. In 1924 the League of Nations approved the Geneva Declaration of of the Rights of a Child which gave children rights such as receiving food, healthcare, protection, and shelter (Strohm, Powerpoint, September 3). • 15. The Unknown Saga Men Of Icelandic Family Sagas The unknown saga men of Icelandic Family Sagas who wrote in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries utilized a plethora of writing techniques to portray the lives of native Icelanders from roughly 930 to 1030. Throughout this period, Family Sagas progressed from choppy, scattered life stories to literary masterpieces laced with dark humor and adventure. However, sagas sometimes stray from the truth due to the saga men s tendencies to romanticize the past, use interstitial expansion, and edit manuscripts to fit Christian morals. Written in the 9th and 10th centuries (and put together in the 13th century) The Book of Settlements is an important reference for all sagas about to be discussed. It takes place during the age of settlement (870 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The organization of Olaf s saga is loosely additive in the fact that none of the chapters seem to lead to each other and chapters are often repeated. Such as chapters 37 and 55 where it is the same story of king Olaf slapping a queen, but in one he does so because she wouldn t convert to Christianity, and in the other he does so because he was caught giving her a false gold arm band. This seemingly accidental repetition and misplacement of narratives could have happened for a variety of reasons, but the most likely is that since Oddr wrote the saga as he interviewed people, he would be forced to put narratives pertaining to earlier stories at the end of the manuscript because there was no way for him to copy and paste and add it to the beginning. Since all chapters after 25 were written from solely oral accounts, interstitial expansion plagues the Saga to the point that it is hard to tell what actually happened and what is completely made up, for example the scene where Olaf gets married in Winland probably never even happened. Usually after demonic or paranormal activities are mentioned, Oddr interludes to write in his own thoughts. An example of this happening is in chapter 43 when Odin appears to Olaf. Oddr feels it necessary to comment his own thoughts due to the monostatic lens that he has, because he is after all a monk writing in a monastery. • 16. The Perception Of Human Attitudes And Values From this class I learned that the circumstances that you are born into and raised in help shape who you become. Our attitudes and values are shaped early on by those who around us most frequently and hold positions of power in our estimation. As children we both listen and observe the adults around us. Without realizing it, we often take on their points of view until we are challenged. Moreover, few people realize that their deeply held beliefs actually exist because of someone else. Most people are not challenged on their beliefs and values, instead we tend to congregate with other people who share and reinforce our values. When we are challenged and even presented with empirical facts that run counter to our beliefs we are hesitant to change our minds. This is called belief perseverance. Humans use inductive reasoning to support their cognitive bias. Most humans do this. It is hard to simply let of an ingrained notion and take a counter stance. Since facts and information to the contrary does not work effectively to change people s minds, the only option is repeated exposure and experience with the irrefutable facts. An example would be someone being raised to believe that all homosexual men are also violent pedophiles, despite not knowing any homosexual men in real life. Simply telling them that this is not the case is not likely to change their minds, but repeated positive experiences with a friendly gay neighbor who is a parent, a doctor, a church goer and never ... Andrea enthusiastically participated with the examiner during the language sample. She initiated the conversation by choosing to explain how to play the game Googly Eyes rather than utilize any of the activities provided by the examiner. Andrea s explanation of the game was mostly chronological, she occasionally forgot a part of the game, but always corrected herself for any confusion. Her speech was fluent, though used the word like frequently. The slight overuse of the word could be attributed to her age, rather than a reflection of her lexical diversity. Her descriptions of the game were spontaneous, mostly fluid, and she was 100% intelligible. These observations suggest this sample was a valid representation of Andrea s language abilities as the game required several complex explanations in which she performed well. Throughout the conversation, Andrea displayed a mastery of complex syntactic and morphological form (mean length of utterance= 7.87) which is expected for her age. This attractiveness derives from the relative low threat of new entrants, low supplier and buyer powers, and low threat of substitutes. The main factors driving these results are the low concentration of suppliers and buyers, the significant barriers to entry due to high up front investment costs (for infrastructure and distribution channels) and scale economies, low availability of substitutes 1, and the threat of retaliation from incumbents (by lowering price, for example). However, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, customers complaints with parking could ultimately lead them to choose bigger stores or other small footprint ones. Given the situation described in the previous paragraphs and on the exhibits, Trader Joe s should consider the following two recommendations for its future growth: Start a social media campaign and emphasize on the organic food movement by branding organic products with the Trader Joe s name. For the social media campaign to match TJ s culture, the company should emphasize on artsy online platforms such as Instagram, to integrate photos and hashtags, Twitter, to tweet about new products or recipes, and Vimeo, to upload videos of their recipes, instead of Facebook and YouTube which go beyond the TJ s target market of educated individuals. Also, in order to take advantage of smart devices, TJ should develop an app for iOS and Android that could integrate both platforms, the online website, and the online fan base that currently exists. Trader Joe s should also engage in branding its own line of organic products (including meats). Since competition is rapidly moving into TJ s strategic group (given the low mobility barriers), the company should make use of its established brand (associated with quality and uniqueness) and strong supplier relations in order to further enhance its participation on ... • 20. Citizenship Is An Outdated Notion Of The 21st Century Citizenship is an outdated notion in the 21st century. Critically discuss this statement. Citizenship can be defined as the position or status of being a citizen in a particular country (Oxford Dictionaries, 2016). This definition is not very broad, nor does it cover the many aspects of citizenship that exist in the 21st century. It is not only about being a legal citizen of a particular country, it is also about being a social citizen. You can be a citizen of Australia but choose to live elsewhere for the majority of your life. In terms of citizenship it is relevant on a political and social level. If you are actively contributing to the country in which you live in some ways you are fulfilling your duties as a citizen. Citizenship will always be a relevant concept because when you are a citizen of a particular country it comes with a sense of belonging. There is a feeling of pride when you become a citizen of a country. In particular, if your family is from that country it can help to gain a sense of community with those around you. It is important for people to feel that they are citizens of the same country as their children. Sometimes legal citizenship changes a person s perspective and they feel that they belong but often there is still a chance people may be excluded based on external factors, for example, they have a different religion to the majority of a particular community. That s why it is important for people to be social citizens as well so that they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marx s View On Materialism And Religious Self Alienation This week s readings presented Marx s thought of Feuerbach s work, whose concepts I am not familiar with, however, I can infer that Feuerbach has discussed materialism and religious self alienation in length; and explored Marx s view on materialism, production of consciousness, communism and much more. The collection of Marx s theses and his other writings reflected upon many of his doctrines, including materialism, religion, and alienation, but perhaps the most iconic work would be his empathy on propertyless labor selling their labor and humanity to their oppressor, property owners. This exploration seems to be absolute and inevitable under his vision of capitalism. While it is most certainly true for a majority of labors, it cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He used the class struggle in France and the coup d etat as an example to strengthen his argument, dictatorship will always be the nature of the bourgeoisie. The oppression may have dynamic forms, but it will always haunt the working class. Their cognizance of the regime s true intent and their interest will unite them against the ruling class. Hard to argue against that as it is debatable whether are there countries that follow Marx s communism, and France did not follow the ideology of communism. Assuming China does follow his doctrine of communism, how can he justify the oppression that the government agencies enforce against ordinary citizens? Labors are still being exploited; the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. This seems to contradict with his stands on the advantages of communisms. The proletariat has a history of participating in lengthy revolutions, yet progress on their working condition and fair treatment are still backtracking. Judging from Hegel s influence on Marx, I believe the title theses was a reference to Hegel s work on dialectic, in which he presented three dialectical stages: creating a thesis, negating that ... • 27. Reflection Paper On Mechanical Engineering I believe research is an extremely dynamic process. As time passes, certain areas of research are becoming more salient, while others require less attention. My areas of research are in mechanical systems and solid mechanics. My general research question is how the modeling and designing of components and systems can support engineers toward a sustainable design of products or systems in energy and transportation applications. My primary research focuses on designing mechanical systems/components and investigating mechanical interactions between machine components. The treatments required a truly multidisciplinary research effort span the entire mechanical systems and solid mechanics spectrums of mechanical engineering. The research involved design, development, and experimental verifications of mechanical components and systems, and account for parameters that influence their interactions. My experience and knowledge has led me to expand my research to account for failure of machine components and systems with applications in automotive, aerospace, and oil and gas industries such as automotive brake systems and clutches, aircraft landing gears, and drilling downhole assembly. For the past few years, I directed my research towered development of mechanical systems and devices for oil and gas industries. The research involve modeling the downhole assembly and fabricating systems/setups and mechanisms to imitate deep drilling (high temperature and high pressure drilling ... Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord Byron s Texts Works Cited Missing Two closely related texts, one that we ve studied in this class and one that we haven t, that handle natural description differently are Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lord Byron s Manfred. Both of these texts central characters have experienced trauma, and their portrayal of their environments reveal the effects that the events have left on them. While Coleridge s mariner is unable to consolidate his past and is relegated to constantly relive it, Byron s Manfred has protected himself from his unnamed vice by distancing himself from his feelings and environment. Obvious parallels exist between the poems, but what I found most striking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This image accomplishes two things: 1) It tells the reader how he views himself, comparing himself to a thousand thousand slimy things (l 237). 2) And it shows how he views the outside world, as a corrupted, threatening environment. These descriptions reflect the events well enough to determine that the mariner is attempting to accurately relive/retell the events. While making it sound as if it s for the benefit of those that he s telling, the arbitrariness of selecting the audience and the ambiguity of the story s message discredit the mariner s suggestion and imply that the stories retelling is for the mariner s benefit. Again, Coleridge s mariner and Byron s Manfred share in their experiences of trauma but differ in their attempts to overcome it. The psychological analogy that working through trauma mirrors the habituation of an event can explain this difference. By repeatedly attempting to experience the trauma, the mariner tries to get use to his past to reconcile with his emotions. Manfred has successfully completed this process. The downfall with habituation is that you eventually become desensitized to that stimuli and therefore lose a connection with the environment, which is exactly Manfred s situation. The descriptions in Byron s text seem, largely, distant emotionally and physically. He doesn t attempt to revisit his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
