Access Control System Analysis
As a business owner, you want to make sure you keep your business secure both during and after
working hours. One tool you can use to keep your business as secure as possible is an access
control system.
An access control system can provide you with greater control over who enters your building and
when they enter your building. It can also allow you the power to remotely monitor access to your
business.
#1 Track Movement Through Your Business
One of the biggest benefits of installing an access controls system to regulate who has access to
your business is that you will be able to monitor who enters your building and when they do so.
There are two different ways you can set up your access control system to store this information,
either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will be able to access this information from any web browser that allows you access to the
system. The information should be stored on a main controller with the company that manages you
access control system.
Server Based
If you choose to go with a server based information system, all of the entry and exit data collected
from your access points will be stored on a local server. This could be a server located on site or a
remotely located server. With server based storage, only an individual who has access to your
server will be able to access the entry and exit information for your business.
If security is a concern for you, a server based system to store information about who accesses
your building is the way to go. If having access to that information regardless of where you are at
is important to you, a browser based information storage system may be best.
#2 Control Who When People Have Access to Your Business
Installing an access control system to your external and internal doors within your business will
allow you to control who has access to your business and when they have

The Riverton Community Pool Is Located Just Off Of Forest Ave
The Riverton Community Pool is located just off of Forest Ave in Portland, and is attached to the
Riverton Community Center, including a library and gymnasium, and Riverton Elementary. The
facility features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces for both employees and patrons. After
entering the building, the location of the poolis not extremely clear; there are no signs directing
patrons to the pool area. The production space is well lit by lights that are around the pool (but
not above), and does not smell of overwhelming chlorine. The pool is 25 meters long with six
lanes. The pool also has a shallow and deep end, with the shallowest point being four feet deep, and
the deepest point being 13 ВЅ feet deep. The floor surrounding the pool is made of tile to prevent
patrons from slipping and falling when the floor is wet. The walls surrounding the building are
made of cinderblocks that were painted white. These types of walls tend to echo, so the ceiling
and upper walls are lined with sound panels to reduce the extra noise. The temperature of the
water falls anywhere between 80 and 83 degrees fahrenheit so patrons do not overheat when
swimming. The air is also kept around 83 degrees to help keep patrons warm when they exit the
water. Unfortunately, a master plan was unable to be located online or at the facility. Master plan
documents typically contain a table of contents that displays what will be outlined in the document.
These documents explain proposed facilities or

The Book of Acts
Brief Overview of The Book of Acts
Luke wrote the Acts of the Apostles as a follow up to his Gospel account of the life of Christ.
The Acts should be seen as a description of the ongoing work of Jesus Christ by the power of the
Holy Spirit through His apostles and followers. Luke s aim is to give an historical record of the
early church from its birth in Jerusalem to how it reached around the world with the Gospel.
Through this work Luke reveals that everything that was said previously about Jesus Christ was
absolute truth. The book of Acts can be split into two main parts: 1. The birth of the Church 2. The
missionary journeys of the apostles The book begins with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the
waiting disciple (120) in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they prayed God moved in a mighty way; saving the lost, healing the sick, raising the dead,
anointing with the Spirit, and even in an earthquake. God granted their requests not because of
their words but because they prayed from the heart. They believed that their God was able. The
key verse on prayer is They continued steadfast ... in prayers (Acts 2:42).
2) Courage
Boldness or courage does not come as a matter of course but come as we rely upon the Lord who
strengthens us to stand firm And now, Lord, behold their threatening: and grant unto thy
servants, that with all boldness they may speak Thy word (4:29). God will give us the power to
say exactly the right thing in threatening situations We ought to obey God rather than men (5:29),
and then to go on doing what He has called us to (5:40 42). Stephen is the prominent example in
Acts of courage in the face of adversity (6:127:60). Through his witness we understand that God
can put a holy boldness in our lives regardless of personal weakness or timidity. God is able to
make us bold regardless of what may come against us. In the book of Acts we see several occasions
when believers had courage from the Lord in difficult circumstances; (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) Peter
before the Jewish Council (4:5, 5:29) Stephen before the Jewish Council (6:12 7:60), Paul before

One Of The Most Complicated Aspects Of Human Life Happens
One of the most complicated aspects of human life happens to be religion. However, it I viewed
as a simple thing that can be comprehend with ease. To begin with, Religions are shared
accumulations of supernatural convictions that have been passed on from devotees to proselytes,
that are held by disciples to be effectively important and genuine either in view of first, formally
reported regulation or what is referred to as composed religionor even built up social practices that
is people religion(Bidlack et al, 2016). In both structures, there are religious experts who
epitomize formal parts of the religion and who act as leaders as well as administration. There

In that case, it has proved to be dangerous to go to a sensible definition which portrays the
assortments of religion found over the East and West, both old and new. Many individuals have
surrendered notwithstanding attempting to characterize religion coherently (Best, 2016). For
instance, William James offers space to the feeling that the man who knows religion most totally
inconveniences himself slightest about a definition of the same religion he believes in. What is
considered being religious and what is considered a religion changes after some time and from
place to place.
All in all, there is a particular definition that considers numerous past endeavors, modifies some of
the regular mistakes, and arrives at a definition that incorporates the majority of the assortment of
religion without unintentionally including exercises that have a few similitudes yet not really
religious in nature. For that matter, everyone who is interested in study of religion ought to
dependably be careful about brief meanings of religion (Best, 2016). Religion is an umbrella term
for numerous things and in that capacity, it is hard to characterize religion without setting aside

My Experience With My Own Life
There are personalities that come naturally, but many are nurtured through experiences one has.
Through my own life experiences from what I consider a decent, normal childhood into now a
happy grown adult. Many of my personalities have remained the same while other parts have
changed as has life changed especially since becoming a mother. Now, the experiences and
personalities I ll further describe are from my viewpoint and if you ask my friends or family
members their opinions it may change slightly. As a viewpoint is only depicted from the person
who is describing it and their perception of how the events or things occurred.
When I think of personalities that remained the same throughout my life span of 31 years thus
far. As far back as I can remember knowing I have had a positive outlook on life where I always
found the good in something no matter how bad the situation was and consider it my most prized
part of my personality. As a child, my parents got divorced at age 10 and I saw the emotional toll it
took on my little my brother not to see him every day. He was only age 8 at the time and him who
adored my father as a role model and he was able to keep in contact with my father. Where with
me my father wanted nothing to do it with me. I use to think each time he called to speak with
my brother and not me instead of being sad or angry, I would remember now my mother is
happier and I have more time with her and she was always the fun one who did all the vacations

Minstrel Show Research Paper
Minstrel Shows Vaudeville
Minstrel shows were a very popular form of entertainment before the civil war
Minstrel shows mainly consisted of white people in black face, and after the civil war, it revolved
around slaves in black face performing as well. These shows were widely racist; the show typically
focused on the mockery of African people.
The Cakewalk was a popular minstrel show.
Eventually, minstrel shows developed into vaudeville.
Tap Dance
Tap dance was one of the first American art forms.
The class watched a Flash Tappers video; it was amazing to seem them combine tap dance with
flashy stunts.

Musicals and Musical Films
Liked and Disliked Musicals Viewed in Class
From the videos we watched in class, I really enjoyed Step in Time from Mary Poppins, the clip
from Westside Story, Time of my Life from Dirty Dancing, the clip from Step up, and the
beginning of La La Land.
I really enjoyed watching every clip showed in class except for Whatever Lola Wants. Even
though I know that the mannerisms were meant to be performed in that way, I found Gwen
Verdon s dancing to be very awkward to watch. I was not aware that some of the movies these
clips were from could be classified as musicals. For example, I would have never thought that Step
Up and Dirty Dancing were musicals.
Minstrel shows and vaudeville were a part of early musical theater.
The Black Crook (1866), Show boat (1927), and Oklahoma! (1931) are some examples of early
musical theater compositions.
The Black Crook can be considered the first book musical.
Show Boat and Oklahoma! are both performed in two acts.

Effective Conflict Prevention and Management Essay
We are responsible for our actions in every situation. Choosing appropriate conflict style is the key
to effective conflict prevention and management. We use our favorite conflict style in conflict
situations but we can choose a different style when it is needed. I have never thought of my
conflict style before. The quiz provided in this course gave me an opportunity to rediscover this
aspect of myself. The style of conflictmanagement quiz tells me that I have the orange conflict
style. It tells me that I have a collaborative style of managing conflict. Cooperative problem
solving style enables people to work together so no one loses but everyone is the winner. People
who use this style try to find a solution that is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goals of collaborating style is to integrate solutions, learning, merging perspectives, gaining
commitment, and improving relationships. It works best in handling conflicts over important
issues. This mode has high assertiveness and high cooperation. It is a best style adopted to find
a solution of a conflict that would not have been generated by a single individual. This strategy
works best when both sides have trust in them and are working towards a common goal. For
example, if team members are establishing initial parameters for how to work effectively together,
then collaborating mode could be quite useful to complete a task. The Chinese proverb is even the
teeth would sometime bite the tongue . Even in marriage conflict does arise and call for
resolution. I find that the conflict style with my husband is more often collaborating but
sometimes accommodating. The conflict style with my boss is different from my default
collaborating style. I think that this relation fits better in the accommodation category which is
quite similar to the collaboration conflict style. My conflict style is different in working with boss
because the accommodating style is a lose win situation as compared to the win win collaborating
style. A lose win situation is when you do things for the sake of a good relationship with your
boss, you would try to focus on his views first and put yourself next, ignoring the issues that

Analysis Of Siddhartha
Life Lessons Siddhartha was laying down by the river contemplating life. What is the point of
living when you just are not happy? Siddhartha passed out beside the river. Then his childhood
best friend came along and waited till Siddhartha awoke and made sure he was ok and helped him
get back on his feet. Keep in mind Siddhartha had changed a lot and at first Govinda did not even
know who he was, but he stayed to help him anyway. That says a lot about a person. Siddhartha,
written by Hermann Hesse, shows the ups and downs of life. Along the way Siddhartha has many
tough challenges he encounters, but with the help of many teachers like Govinda, Kamala, and the
Ferryman he learns many heartfelt lessons. One day Siddhartha came to his father... Show more

such a good friend to Siddhartha. He is always there to help Siddhartha find his way. I think that
Siddhartha realizes how much Govinda did for him after he reaches nirvana. Siddhartha in a
way rewards Govinda for being such a good friend by giving him nirvana. Siddhartha is finally
not just caring for himself. He is learning how to be very kind to others and help them along the
way as the Ferryman did for him. After Siddhartha is at a very low point in his life he decides to
cross over the river. There he sees a woman. Siddhartha has not seen a woman in a long time. He
wanders into town and meets a beautiful lady named Kamala. Kamala is like an angel in the
eyes of Siddhartha. Siddhartha begs Kamala to teach him how to love. At first Kamala is not
really wanting to teach Siddhartha. She tells him that she only teaches this to men who have a
lot of money, are nicely dressed, and clean. Siddhartha does not give up though, and he writes a
poem for Kamala. Kamala is in love with this poem Siddhartha wrote and decides to help
Siddhartha. He talked to her, learned from her, gave her advice, received advice. She understood

Improving Student Performance Has Long Been An Issue...
Critical Assignment 1
Shelby A. Wood
Troy University
Article 1
Improving student performance has long been an issue contemplated and researched by educational
professionals and psychologists. Nowadays, an even greater burden has been placed on the
shoulders of teachers, whose livelihoods are being determined by how well their students perform
on standardized tests and other academic evaluations. With this increased amount of pressure,
teachers are desperate to find ways to improve student success. As Hidi and Harackiewicz point out,
the aspect of student learning that teachers have the most influence over is the amount of effort put
in by students (Hidi Harackiewicz, 2000). Research has shown that students motivation to meet
these academic demands begins steadily declining around the third grade (Anderman Maehr, 1987;
Harter, 1981) which means teachers must take proactive approaches in their classrooms to stimulate
and maintain the motivation of their students.
According to Hidi and Harackiewicz, student interest serves as a foundation for intrinsic motivation.
While teachers are not able to directly impact a student s individual interest (interest determined by
the student s predisposition or inclination towards a subject), their situational interest (interest
generated by exteneral forces) can be greatly impacted. Their findings showed that situational
interest can influence individual interest, and the two forms of interest, working in harmony,

Karl Marx And Adam Smith Essay
Presence of the Theories of Karl Marx Adam Smith Within the Canadian Economy

Canada s economy is one that exhibits a multitude of characteristics that adhere to the capitalist and
socialist constructs of a mixed system. In order to clearly define and analyze the current economic
system of the country, one would have to establish a relationship between its economy as well as
the ideas, theories, and models of prominent economists from the past. Both Adam Smith and Karl
Marx conceptualized contrasting schools of thought regarding the methods in which an economy
should be run Smith emphasized the independence of businesses whereas Marx strived to eliminate
class conflict. However, the principles of Marxism certainly satisfy the criteria of Canada s
economy through its regulations, public sector, and market intervention. This widespread
manifestation of Marxism within the Canadian economy accurately represents the country s
economic position.
Market regulation is a microcosm of normative economics, both in value and judgement. The
primary purpose in a regulated market is ensuring fair services to customers and labourers. This
lays parallel to Marx s criticism of capitalist businessmen and their lack of enforcement, which
starkly contrasts

For forty days Jesus walked this Earth after being crucified and buried, locked in a tomb with an
enormous boulder. I have been tied to Jesus being the promised Messiah through my label as an
apostle. There is a large amount of evidence that proves Jesus is the Messiah and Lord of the
universe. The evidence is shown through the following facts: It was before your eyes that Jesus
Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! Does God supply you with the Spirit and work
miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
(Probatio, 3:1 4:31). Jesus has said that he will grant relief if you are a believer in Him. Those
who do not obey or believe will suffer punishment for eternity and will be sent away from his
glorious throne. Those who believe in the testament will have eternal life in the kingdom of
Heaven. Second, Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day and appeared to
Peter and then to the other twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one
time, most are still alive today, though others have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all
the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me (1 Corinthians 15:3 8). As

The Destructors Analysis
Stephen Alexander Smith
Miss Shackel
AP English Literature
13 September 2017
A Changing Class System War brings chaos and death, but it also serves to change society.
Graham Greene s short story The Destructors takes place in London, England during the 1950 s,
when England is slowly rising out of the rubble and devastation caused by World War II only 9
years ago. During the time before the World Wars, England had a stern social order that made it
extremely difficult for someone to achieve higher social status starting from the bottom. World War
II brings change to the social hierarchy, causing the rich and middle class to lose their opulence and
granting the the lower classes more mobility. The characterizations of Trevor, the newest
addition to the Wormsley Common Gang, Mr. Thomas, a pretentious old man, and the lorry
driver, the man who drove the car that pulled down Mr. Thomas s house, all represent different
attitudes toward social hierarchy. Graham Greene uses Trevor, Mr. Thomas, lorry driver, and plot
to signify different class distinctions and to display how the gang fights against previous social
order. Trevor and the Wormsley Common Gang defy the materialism of the older generation and
the notion that the upper classes are superior. The reader learns that the gang does not refer to
Trevor by his name and instead call him, T., as he was afterwards referred to (Greene 116). The
members of the Wormsley Common Gang understand that Trevor is the name given to

How Did God Gave Moses Health Rules For Freedom From...
Summary None of These Diseases 1 5 God gave Moses health rules for freedom from diseases
and pus does not promote healing. The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus,
which infects the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed
thousands as well meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors
that have listened to the biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics.
Leprosy killed millions and spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a
clue as to how this epidemic started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the
instructions of Moses, given to him by God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp
away from people, not because he was being punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to
the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late 1700s. they did not understand that the disease
spread, and it became out of control, until Norway acted on the biblical rules to separate the
diseased people. God promised His people that if they listened to His rules, He would not put none

This allows the train to lift between 0.39 and 3.93 inches (1 to 10 centimeters) above the

creates a unique system of magnetic fields that pull and push the train along the guideway. The
electric current supplied to the coils in the guideway walls is constantly alternating to change the
polarity of the magnetized coils. This change in polarity causes the magnetic field in front of the
train to pull the vehicle forward, while the magnetic field behind the train adds more forward
thrust. Maglev trains float on a cushion of air, which removes friction. The trains have an

The Individualization Of Civility And Civilization
Although religions originated for a common goal, each civilization has developed its own unique
interpretation of religion, which impacts how each civilization fosters hospitality or hostility.
Religions establish morals, such as collectivism, that is used to unite and maintain civilization.
Civilizations develop unique interpretations of religionto organize unification based on a shared
purpose, having concern for community. This diversity allows people to distinguish the
relationship between religion and civilization of unification and structure based on beliefs. The
relationship not only within, but also between civilizations are visible through religions influence
on hospitality and hostility. Throughout history, religions have played a significant role in both the
formation and cooperation of civilizations in various ways including, civilizations forming based on
common principles, the unique perception of religion in various civilizations, and the fostering of
hospitality and hostility through religion in civilizations.
To begin, although religions are uniquely individualistic, they are founded on a common goal, the
establishment of morals within civilizations as well as globally. It is understood that people are
inherently individualistic and prone to self interests. Therefore, religion is used to promote
tolerance and respect. This common goal among religions, although uniquely different, is evident
in nearly all civilizations. For example, jian ai is a part of

How Did Eminem Influence People s Youth
Despite taste in music, age or nationality, everyone is bound to know the famous rapper, Eminem.
Many eagerly awaited his return to the music industry; while some hoped to never see his name on
the charts again. After a long break from the industry, Eminem made his return in 2010, rising to the
top of the charts once again. Critics have claimed his lyrical content is inappropriate and effects the
nation s youth negatively, but his fans argue that he and his 2010 return have been a source of
inspiration and encouragement in their lives.

Against all odds, he had succeeded far beyond what the world presumed possible. His personal

The Industrial Leaders of the 19th Century Should be Admired for their Work
The industrial leaders, Robber Barons, of the 19th century are men who are very respected and
admired. Andrew Carnegie was a boy from Scotland who came over to this country with nothing.
He continued to save and work his way up in the industry until he had complete control over the
steel industry. John D. Rockefeller was also one who came from an ordinary home. When he saw
an opportunity, he took it, along with the risks. He came to control the oil industry. Another man

He sold the company to J. P. Morgan, for which he personally received $250 million of the $492
million Morgan paid for it. He supported and began many corporations and institutions. Many
positive establishments were created only because of his generous donations. To this day many
people are still benefiting from the large Carnegie fortune. Cornelius Vanderbilt was the most
powerful railroad baron. He earned a fortune for himself in the steamship line. He also combined
the New York and Harlem and New York and Hudson estate ferry boat operations. He established
a connection between New York and Albany to make Lake Shore and Michigan Southern link
Buffalo with Chicago. When he died he owned and operated nearly 4500 miles of track between
New York City and most of the important cities in the Midwest. He left his fortune to his son,
unlike the others he did not donate to many organizations. The only contribution he gave was to
support the, now, Vanderbilt College.
John D. Rockefeller also started at humble beginnings. By taking risks and investing he found
himself engulfed in the rapidly expanding oil industry. Not yet in the business directly he started his

My Experience At The Train Station
I first arrived in Spain this summer fresh off my first year at DU, traveling internationally for the
first time without my family, and ready to take on this new adventure into the unknown with my
friends. I knew just enough Spanish to get by, and I couldn t wait to explore the city and test the
limits of my comfort. I arrived at the train station in Santander, a small cityon the northern coast of
Spain, with one of my best friends from DU, Morgan. We then found other DU students
traveling with us during this study abroad program, and met the program coordinator. Standing
in the tiny train station, with the local Spaniards passing us by and the sliding automatic doors
letting in the humid, warm air, the program coordinator explained to us the logistics of the
program, some basic information about Spanish customs, and introduced us to our host
families. Morgan and I were presented to our host mom and dad, an older Spanish couple named
Luisi and Demetrio, we gave the customary kisses on each cheek, and then we were off. Much of
the first day passed by in an overwhelming flurry of sights, sounds, smells as they drove, Luisi
chatted about the city and their lives there. We arrived at a house, small by US standards, but
large by European. A few chickens wandered in the yard in the front, three dogs greeted us as we
approached the house, and two more were waiting inside. Everything was perfect and I was in love.
However, this feeling didn t last for long. With our halting,

Exploring Homoeroticism In Herman Melville Is Billy Budd...
I was studying how Herman Melville shows what was going on in his personal life by what was
happening in his writing. This topic is important to investigate because, we can better understand
what is happening in his literature if we can equate it with personal connections to his life. This
way readers can connect better with the author as well as the piece of writing. Before I did this
study I knew nothing about Herman Melvilles personal life. I have never read any work of his
before, nor did I ever did any research on him. This study will help me connect with Melville, in
which that will help me understand his writing. More specifically Billy Budd, Sailor. That being
said, Herman Melville uses Billy Budd, Sailor as an allegory for what he was facing in his own life.
One of Herman Melville s biggest personal secret is that he was queer. He had a wife, but also
wrote love letters to his male interests. It is safe to say Melville was bisexual, but no one will know
for sure. In Billy Budd, Sailor, Melville wrote in a gay character, which is Claggart. Dana Silva, a
publisher in Agora, in her paper Exploring Homoeroticism in Herman Melville s Novella Billy
Budd, Sailor, published in Agora, explains:
Unobserved and thus left to indulge in his own private desire, Claggart, while viewing Billy, is torn
between his maritime sexual yearnings and his heterosexual societal obligations. The sight of Billy
evokes with Claggart unsurpassed sorrow; his expression becomes melancholy,

Mental Stigma, Media Misrepresentation And The False...
Mental health issues affect society in many ways, such as identification, treatment, and overall
understanding; as a result of this they have been mocked and dismissed for most of history. This
paper is a thorough investigation into the long, tumultuous history of mental illnesses. The history
of mental stigma, media misrepresentation and the false branding of the LGBT+ community will
be explored. In addition, this paper goes into detail about the horrific past of the treatment of
mental patients in asylums and the evolution of the understanding of mental illnesses, from
mystical phenomena to chemical imbalances. Mental illnesses are not a thing of the past. They
are also our present and future. John Q. Adams once said, Who we are, is who we were. That
quote accurately describes mental illnesses and the mental health of humans everywhere. A mental
illness can be defined as a health condition that changes a person s thought process, emotions,
behavior, and/or their body. Mental illness causes a person distress and difficulty in functioning
and can lead to atrophy. They are ingrained in the wiring of many and they override safety
precautions that the brain has set in place against viruses. Mental health issues affect society in
many ways, such as identification, treatment, and overall understanding; as a result of this they
have been mocked and dismissed for most of history. For all of history, mankind has had some
semblance of being aware of mental illnesses. The

My Understanding Of The Lincoln Electric Company s Culture
My understanding of the Lincoln Electric Company s culture
An organization s culture consists of unseen elements such as assumptions and values that affect
organizational life, it is the personality of the company. At Lincoln Electric, even though they never
had a formal organization chart, the culture is an extremely significant aspect of everyday life and a
powerful asset; its rare and hard to imitate conceptualization gives the firm an undeniable
competitive advantage and insures maximum flexibility.
Over the decades and since it was first created, the ongoing guidance and encouragement of the
management towards their employees made Lincoln s expansion possible to a global level. The
ideas and philosophy of the founders are still at the core of the organizational culture because they
strongly supported the company in its initial stages and helped distinguish it from others. Thus, by
providing a competitive advantage, these values were retained as part of the corporate culture and
were taught to new members as the right way to do business.
The principles and ideas in which James F. Lincoln believed and that brought him his success are
still those that drive the current Board of Directors and employees every day.
His vision of the customer s needs as the raison d etre for every company was a key to a better
growth of his organization; it remains at the center of everybody s attention and is reflected in

Regulated Ocean Pollution
Like the Titanic there are many items laying at the bottom of the ocean, and floating in the ocean

All around the world people can be found dumping illegal substances that harm these big bodies
of water. Most of the illegal substances are being dumped by at sea ships. There is debate that
regulated ocean dumping may be harming or helping the cause but no one knows for sure. Ocean
dumping falls under under one of three categories depending on what item is being dumped. There
is the black, gray, and white list. The blacklist is made up of very harsh chemicals like mercury,
radioactive waste, plastic, crude oil, and substances used for chemical warfare. Gray is still an
intense list but not as detrimental as the previously mentioned black list. The makeup of the gray
list is: nickel, scrap metal, cyanide, many other types of alloys and metals, and any material that
will affect the ecosystem due to the amount... which... is dumped. As for the white list, this is where
items that do not fall under the black or gray category belong.

This also provides flexibility in the analysis of the responses. On the other hand, standardized
questionnaire items often represent the least common denominator in assessing people s attitudes,
orientations, circumstances, and experiences. By designing questions that will be appropriate for
all respondents, it is possible to miss what is most appropriate to many of the respondents (Babbie,

required to administer the survey. Processing and analysis are usually simpler and cheaper than for
other methods. The reduction in bias error. The questionnaire reduces the bias that might result
from personal characteristics of interviewers and/or their interviewing skills. Greater anonymity,
absence of an interviewer provides greater anonymity for the respondent. This is especially helpful
when the survey deals with sensitive issues such as questions about involvement in a gang, because
respondents are more likely to respond to sensitive questions when they are not face to face with an

mental world (Cognition, pg. 8). Research performed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener
concluded that the only way to study thoughts is to introspect, or examine one s own thoughts and
feelings, to observe and record content of their personal minds and understand the sequence of
their own experiences. This proved to be a difficult task, nonetheless. Wundt and Titchener believed
that introspectors would need to be carefully trained. The training included being given a
vocabulary to describe what they observed, taught to be as careful and complete as possible
reporting solely on their experiences, with as little personal interpretation as possible. Concerns
grew with this style of research over the years. Investigators were forced to acknowledge that some
thoughts are unconscious, which would mean that

Youth Gangs
Youth participation in gangs actually decreased from 1996 to 2004, but the violence within these
gangs has not. Homicides committed by youth gang members still remain as a monumental
problem across the United States of America. The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention reported in its 2004 survey of youth gangs that there were an estimated 760,000 gang
members that year. Many of the kids affiliated with gangs come from lower income, single parent
homes; therefore, the youths of America often turn to gangs to fill the void of not being part of a
family . To combat this problem and save our youth from a life of malfeasance, the people of the
communities of America must take a stand against the negative influences that impact these youths.
Violence within Youth Gangs of America
The term gang can be associated with a number of different things but, for this paper, the term
gangs will be in reference to youth gangs; youth gangs are considered to consist of adolescents
and young adults from the ages of 12 to 24 (Decker and Howell, 1999, p.1). Gangs have been a
normal part of United States culture for centuries now, a sad but also, very true statement. What
started out as a group of friends wearing their favorite color and protecting their neighborhood from
crime has turned into a problem of epic proportion across the United States of America. In earlier
years gangs were only a problem for poor communities within the big cities. But during this day and
age,

The World Wide Web Is A Better Source For Students...
The world wide web is growing immensely and it is filled with a plethora of information that is
easily accessible to anyone and everyone with an internet capable device. Students today are
constantly glued to technology, whether it is for leisure purposes or school purposes, thus making
them susceptible to reading and gathering accurate as well as false information from the internet.
Many students do not know how to navigate the web effectively or will not check a source s
authority when doing research, and as a result, they gather faulty information. The fact that students
can easily access information on the web when doing research, it is imperative for teachers to teach
students how to properly evaluate websites in order to assure that they are gathering authentic
information from credible sources. There are certain criteria educators and students can use in order
to confirm the authenticity of a website. In this paper, I used ten of Kathy Schrock s criteria to
evaluate two websites to determine which is a better source for students researching information
on the topic The Human Body. The criteria used are underlined and written in bold, and below
each criterion will be a summary of my evaluation of both websites. This paper will conclude
which website is better for the research.
Authority
A site should enable the user to easily find out about the author. Questions we could ask ourselves

Character Analysis Of Tony In Tony Mckay s War Brothers
Throughout the novel War Brothers one of the very important characters Tony, changes very
much because he is forced to join the Lord s Resistance Army (LRA) and become a rebel soldier.
Tony is very smart but also quite poor. His family didn t have enough money to send him to
school but since he was smart and the nuns had faith in him they were able to provide him with a
scholarship: His family could not afford to send him to school. But the nuns believed in him
because he was smart and a good boy. (McKay 44). This shows how tony was viewed as a person
before everything with the LRA happened. Tony also had a dream to become a priest when he was
older. He never openly said it but it was very obvious to others; He has never actually said to his
friends, but everyone knew that tony really wanted to become a priest. (McKay 45). This shows
that Tony wanted to go to school to repay god and how much of a good kid we was and how he
didn t deserve to have to become a rebel soldier.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his friends and gives them useful information that ends up helping them later on. And in the end
he is able to help them escape and then him and all his true friends are free from the LRA. So

many years Hogan has played a stage character role in the ring, on talk shows and in the public

Jeff Nichols Midnight Special
Midnight Special , the latest cinematic exposure by the adroit filmmaker, Jeff Nichols, is a passable
cocktail that contains drama, sci fi, and thriller in unequal proportions.
Mr. Nichols fourth motion picture features Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Adam Driver, Kirsten
Dunst, and the young Jaeden Lieberher, in the leading roles. This is their first collaboration with
the director, except for the earnest Mr. Shannon who also starred in his other three dramas Shotgun

Meanwhile, the FBI starts an investigation, relying on their smartest and trustful agent, Paul Sevier

Memoirs of a Geisha
Historical Novel: Memoirs of a Geisha Memoirs of a Geisha is a compelling novel that is
centered on a young girl s journey of maturing and becoming a prominent and successful geisha.
The book was written by Author Golden and published in 1997. The story was based on the life
of geisha in Japan during the 1930s and 1940s. Geisha literally translates into art person. Geisha
are Japanese women that are trained to entertain men with singing, dancing, and conversation. The
book itself was very accurate in a historical perspective and quite frankly, a very good read. The
book opens in the first person voice of Sayuri, the main character, and stays the same throughout the

Analysis Of The Novel American Psycho By Bret Easton...
In the novel American Psycho written by Bret Easton Ellis, the protagonist Patrick Bateman uses
his wealth and violence which are exemplified in scenes involving the murder of his ex girlfriend
Bethany. As well as appealing to the idea to maintain his image by any means such as purchasing
expensive merchandises and taking the initiative to attend upscale restaurants. His actions with the
implications of those elements reveal the consumptions of status and privilege. The detailed
narration of Bateman s intense violent acts and purchases of expensive products creates imaginary
and conflict for readers to accept as true the impression he is trying to demonstrate to the general
public and associates. This may result in readers rejecting the character and concluding that
Bateman does not deserve/worthy of the position in society he desires to achieve. This plays a
significant part in how to read the novel because it demonstrates the obsession of acknowledgement
and the measurements individuals are prepared to carry out. The most attention Bateman receives
from the other characters in the novel is compliments on his tan instead of his success or presence.

the vulnerability and weakness of women provides him with the confidence and authority that he

What Are The Disadvantages Of Lay People In The English...
Effectiveness of lay element
The effect of a lay person being part of the legal system is that it creates a positive reputation for
the court. This is because lay people are not chosen because of their qualifications; they are chosen
randomly to come up with a verdict for the defendant. Having lay people in the legal system enable
the court to have a wider variety of opinion given by the community. This scheme allows associates
of the community to become a lay person (magistrates/jury). There are many advantages as well as
disadvantages of using lay personnel in court. An example of an advantages of using a lay person
in the English legal system is that the legal system saves millions of pounds due to the fact that lay

its advantages, but it also comes with disadvantages. A clear example of a disadvantage of using
both lay magistrates and jurors in the legal system is that racial, cultural, sexual bias has come in
the way and depending on the research, it has shown that this influences the verdict made in the

Juvenile Delinquency Theories
Juvenile Delinquency Theories
Through an understanding of causes of juvenile delinquency society may come to deal preventively
with delinquency; certainly treatment of the offender needs to be based upon an understanding of
the causal mechanisms that have produced him. In this paper we ll describe three theories of
juvenile delinquency such as Social Learning Theory, General Strain Theory and Behavioral Theory
and discuss appropriate preventive programs based upon these theories.
In 1977 Albert Bandura, a Stanford University psychology professor, published Social Learning
Theory, in which he postulated that human learning is a continuous reciprocal interaction of
cognitive, behavioral, and environmental factors. Sometimes called ... Show more content on

Operant conditioning developed by Skinner is one of the learning methods according to which
the likelihood of behavior is increased or decreased by the use of reinforcement or punishment. In
case of positive reinforcement a certain behavior becomes stronger by the effect of experiencing
some positive condition. In case of negative reinforcement a certain behavior becomes stronger by
the outcome of stopping or staying away from some negative condition. In case of extinction a
certain behavior is becomes weaker by the outcome of avoiding to experiencing some positive
condition or stopping some negative condition.
Negative and positive reinforcements and extinction strengthen certain kinds of behavior of
individuals. Punishment is a big form of operant conditioning used all over the world. When people
are punished, it is to decrease that certain behavior produced by the individual. Therefore,
behavioral theory refers to conditioning which leads to different behavioral pattern of juvenile
offenders.
Preventive programs based on the social learning theory require placing an individual in favorable
environment where he/she would be less tempted to imitate violent behavior. One of the examples
of such environment is the social services of the church. The actual role of contemporary religion in
delinquency prevention is not easy to evaluate. Its potential role is tremendous, but the fulfillment of

The Resistance Workers Of France
For the Resistance workers of France, gender had a defining impact on the roles and jobs open
to women where they were both utilized and supported. They played a key role in the Resistance
of Vichy France from a scattering of leadership roles, to support roles, to secretarial and liaison
work. These women were galvanized and motivated for different reasons: for the political, to
moral, to patriotic or for the desire to do something. Even women beyond the network of the
official groups of Resistance worked to shelter, protect and support Allies, their communities and
Resistance efforts. Thousands of Women during the war, in the Resistance or not, followed and
manipulated the stereotypes and limitations of women in the era to better service their goals.
However these womanly standards curbed which positions they could fill and what respect they
received. In prewar France, the stereotypical women were the homemakers of the family. Though
many were formally educated, few professional jobs were open to them. After the France s
physical and morale collapse in the first months of World War II, the government propaganda
proclaimed a new form of masculinity. A society built on a foundation of family, gender and
biological distinct roles with a male dominated hierarchy. The antithesis of male ideal being a
women who was submissive, ignorant and the home maker. These feminine ideals and values
funneled many women to a support or secondary role in the Resistance. For to

Essay about Nationalist Ideas in the Middle East
Nationality is the desire of a group of people to preserve or obtain common statehood and the
ideology stressing loyalty to the nation state or seeking independence of a national group. Michel

identity as well as a state due to their experiences of oppression and dispersion. Michel Aflaq

Examples Of Dystopia In The Giver
The Giver by Lois Lowry takes its readers into a world of pure utopianism, or so it seems. The
book portrays a seemingly perfect society in which there is no pain, hurt, and corruption. Lying
beneath the veneer of perfection, however, is the fact that the community is in emotional and
mental chaos. No one knew of the problems the society was facing, because the state of life in
which they lived now was all they knew. The community was missing out on many wonderful
things to obtain what they thought was perfection (Politics and Film Database). A utopiais a world in
which there are no problems, and the opposite would be a dystopia(Pryor Utopia and Dystopia ). In
a utopia one can find peace and love, but in a dystopia there is only malice and corruption, often
masked by illusion of controlling everything for the good of the community. As seen in The Giver
and several examples from history, there is no such thing as a utopian society, as utopianism will
never be reached without God. Those that try to do so will only end up with dystopianism
Even though dystopianism and utopianism are very different, there is a ... Show more content on

The Oneida community, also known as the complex marriage, was established in upstate New
York in 1848, by John Humphrey Noyes (Dunn 2013). This community was mainly formed in
protest of the practice of monogamy. The people thought themselves to all be married to one
another, and each man was the husband of every woman and every woman was the wife of every
man (Dunn 2013). Even though they were all married to each other, sexual relations were limited
and a committee would appoint who would procreate. Unfortunately, mothers only kept their
children for a couple of years, and then they would be cared for by the community (Dunn 2013).

  • 3. The Riverton Community Pool Is Located Just Off Of Forest Ave The Riverton Community Pool is located just off of Forest Ave in Portland, and is attached to the Riverton Community Center, including a library and gymnasium, and Riverton Elementary. The facility features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces for both employees and patrons. After entering the building, the location of the poolis not extremely clear; there are no signs directing patrons to the pool area. The production space is well lit by lights that are around the pool (but not above), and does not smell of overwhelming chlorine. The pool is 25 meters long with six lanes. The pool also has a shallow and deep end, with the shallowest point being four feet deep, and the deepest point being 13 ВЅ feet deep. The floor surrounding the pool is made of tile to prevent patrons from slipping and falling when the floor is wet. The walls surrounding the building are made of cinderblocks that were painted white. These types of walls tend to echo, so the ceiling and upper walls are lined with sound panels to reduce the extra noise. The temperature of the water falls anywhere between 80 and 83 degrees fahrenheit so patrons do not overheat when swimming. The air is also kept around 83 degrees to help keep patrons warm when they exit the water. Unfortunately, a master plan was unable to be located online or at the facility. Master plan documents typically contain a table of contents that displays what will be outlined in the document. These documents explain proposed facilities or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Book of Acts Brief Overview of The Book of Acts Luke wrote the Acts of the Apostles as a follow up to his Gospel account of the life of Christ. The Acts should be seen as a description of the ongoing work of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit through His apostles and followers. Luke s aim is to give an historical record of the early church from its birth in Jerusalem to how it reached around the world with the Gospel. Through this work Luke reveals that everything that was said previously about Jesus Christ was absolute truth. The book of Acts can be split into two main parts: 1. The birth of the Church 2. • 15. Improving Student Performance Has Long Been An Issue... Critical Assignment 1 Shelby A. Wood Troy University Article 1 Improving student performance has long been an issue contemplated and researched by educational professionals and psychologists. Nowadays, an even greater burden has been placed on the shoulders of teachers, whose livelihoods are being determined by how well their students perform on standardized tests and other academic evaluations. With this increased amount of pressure, teachers are desperate to find ways to improve student success. As Hidi and Harackiewicz point out, the aspect of student learning that teachers have the most influence over is the amount of effort put in by students (Hidi Harackiewicz, 2000). Research has shown that students motivation to meet these academic demands begins steadily declining around the third grade (Anderman Maehr, 1987; Harter, 1981) which means teachers must take proactive approaches in their classrooms to stimulate and maintain the motivation of their students. According to Hidi and Harackiewicz, student interest serves as a foundation for intrinsic motivation. While teachers are not able to directly impact a student s individual interest (interest determined by the student s predisposition or inclination towards a subject), their situational interest (interest generated by exteneral forces) can be greatly impacted. Their findings showed that situational interest can influence individual interest, and the two forms of interest, working in harmony, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Karl Marx And Adam Smith Essay Presence of the Theories of Karl Marx Adam Smith Within the Canadian Economy Written by: Jason Kothary, Zach Shafi, Sam Girma Kevin Sallaku Research: Ryan Salehi, Zack Izzeddin, David Moffett, Cameron Bernardo, Harrison Toms, Taha Mahmood, Anthony Alexiou, Jason Kothary, Zach Shafi, Sam Girma Kevin Sallaku Canada s economy is one that exhibits a multitude of characteristics that adhere to the capitalist and socialist constructs of a mixed system. In order to clearly define and analyze the current economic system of the country, one would have to establish a relationship between its economy as well as the ideas, theories, and models of prominent economists from the past. Both Adam Smith and Karl Marx conceptualized contrasting schools of thought regarding the methods in which an economy should be run Smith emphasized the independence of businesses whereas Marx strived to eliminate class conflict. However, the principles of Marxism certainly satisfy the criteria of Canada s economy through its regulations, public sector, and market intervention. This widespread manifestation of Marxism within the Canadian economy accurately represents the country s economic position. Market regulation is a microcosm of normative economics, both in value and judgement. The primary purpose in a regulated market is ensuring fair services to customers and labourers. This lays parallel to Marx s criticism of capitalist businessmen and their lack of enforcement, which starkly contrasts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jesus Christ is the truth and the light, we are the descendants and I have the knowledge and truth of the way to the Lord. We can all be disciples of Jesus, living through His teachings and following His way. The Thessalonian Jews know not what they do; yet they are eager to dispute my way of addressing Jesus teachings. In order to inherit God s heavenly promises we must first lead a life that God would be happy about. Serving others in a positive way in order to create peace... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For forty days Jesus walked this Earth after being crucified and buried, locked in a tomb with an enormous boulder. I have been tied to Jesus being the promised Messiah through my label as an apostle. There is a large amount of evidence that proves Jesus is the Messiah and Lord of the universe. The evidence is shown through the following facts: It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! Does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? (Probatio, 3:1 4:31). Jesus has said that he will grant relief if you are a believer in Him. Those who do not obey or believe will suffer punishment for eternity and will be sent away from his glorious throne. Those who believe in the testament will have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Second, Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day and appeared to Peter and then to the other twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most are still alive today, though others have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me (1 Corinthians 15:3 8). As previously stated, Jesus is the Messiah, so my fellow Berea Christians, Jews and Galatians, do not be afraid of the Thessalonians. Those who unsettle you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. The Destructors Analysis Stephen Alexander Smith Miss Shackel AP English Literature 13 September 2017 A Changing Class System War brings chaos and death, but it also serves to change society. Graham Greene s short story The Destructors takes place in London, England during the 1950 s, when England is slowly rising out of the rubble and devastation caused by World War II only 9 years ago. During the time before the World Wars, England had a stern social order that made it extremely difficult for someone to achieve higher social status starting from the bottom. World War II brings change to the social hierarchy, causing the rich and middle class to lose their opulence and granting the the lower classes more mobility. The characterizations of Trevor, the newest addition to the Wormsley Common Gang, Mr. Thomas, a pretentious old man, and the lorry driver, the man who drove the car that pulled down Mr. Thomas s house, all represent different attitudes toward social hierarchy. Graham Greene uses Trevor, Mr. Thomas, lorry driver, and plot to signify different class distinctions and to display how the gang fights against previous social order. Trevor and the Wormsley Common Gang defy the materialism of the older generation and the notion that the upper classes are superior. The reader learns that the gang does not refer to Trevor by his name and instead call him, T., as he was afterwards referred to (Greene 116). The members of the Wormsley Common Gang understand that Trevor is the name given to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Epidemics killed thousands as well meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late 1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. • 42. The Cognitive Revolution In The 1950s And 1960s The changes in how different psychological processes were identified and understood in the 1950s and 1960s is what many refer to as the cognitive revolution. The introduction of research in problems that have already been met for instance, studying problems of memory and decision making led to the new approach of theorizing. The cognitive revolution focused on just a couple of key concepts. One idea that stemmed during the cognitive revolution is that the science of psychology cannot direct study the mental world. Another idea that grew during the cognitive revolution was that in order to understand behavior, the science of psychology has to study the mental world (Cognition, pg. 8). Research performed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener concluded that the only way to study thoughts is to introspect, or examine one s own thoughts and feelings, to observe and record content of their personal minds and understand the sequence of their own experiences. This proved to be a difficult task, nonetheless. Wundt and Titchener believed that introspectors would need to be carefully trained. The training included being given a vocabulary to describe what they observed, taught to be as careful and complete as possible reporting solely on their experiences, with as little personal interpretation as possible. Concerns grew with this style of research over the years. Investigators were forced to acknowledge that some thoughts are unconscious, which would mean that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homicides committed by youth gang members still remain as a monumental problem across the United States of America. The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention reported in its 2004 survey of youth gangs that there were an estimated 760,000 gang members that year. Many of the kids affiliated with gangs come from lower income, single parent homes; therefore, the youths of America often turn to gangs to fill the void of not being part of a family . To combat this problem and save our youth from a life of malfeasance, the people of the communities of America must take a stand against the negative influences that impact these youths. Violence within Youth Gangs of America The term gang can be associated with a number of different things but, for this paper, the term gangs will be in reference to youth gangs; youth gangs are considered to consist of adolescents and young adults from the ages of 12 to 24 (Decker and Howell, 1999, p.1). Gangs have been a normal part of United States culture for centuries now, a sad but also, very true statement. The world wide web is growing immensely and it is filled with a plethora of information that is easily accessible to anyone and everyone with an internet capable device. Students today are constantly glued to technology, whether it is for leisure purposes or school purposes, thus making them susceptible to reading and gathering accurate as well as false information from the internet. Many students do not know how to navigate the web effectively or will not check a source s authority when doing research, and as a result, they gather faulty information. The fact that students can easily access information on the web when doing research, it is imperative for teachers to teach students how to properly evaluate websites in order to assure that they are gathering authentic information from credible sources. There are certain criteria educators and students can use in order to confirm the authenticity of a website. In this paper, I used ten of Kathy Schrock s criteria to evaluate two websites to determine which is a better source for students researching information on the topic The Human Body. The criteria used are underlined and written in bold, and below each criterion will be a summary of my evaluation of both websites. This paper will conclude which website is better for the research.
