What Are The Red Flags In The Landlady
In the story, The Landlady by Roald Dahl there are numerous red flags where a young man, Billy,
has trouble trusting his instincts. Billy is quite intrigued when he finds a Bed and Breakfast that
is inexpensive. He finds the sweet old lady to be a little off, but ignores it until he realizes what
she will do to him. In this story, Dahl shows that Billy should trust his instincts when something
seems off, otherwise something awful might end up happening to him. The first red flag happens
in the beginning of the story. Although it may not stand out as particularly important or atrocious,
when combined with other minor, almost negligible events that happen it is definitely worth
noticing. Dahl writes, Normally you ring the bell and you have at least a half minutes wait before
the door opens. But this dame was a like a jack in the box. (2) Billy appears to find this a little
strange, but this alone, without her telling him how she was expecting him and other little things
she does it doesn t seem that important. She says little peculiar things to him when he first arrives
at the Bed and Breakfast. The landlady quickly opening the door alone is fine, but when she starts
to do the other little things he finds strange he should trust his instincts. As a result of not... Show

From the start Billy thought some things were a little odd. The first thing that was odd about her
was when she immediately opened the door and little comments she made to him. Then he thought
she was a little dotty, but he was getting a deal. Finally, he decided she was off her rocker, but he
compensated for all the odd little things she did by reminding himself that she was a sweet old
lady. Billy should ve trusted his instincts when something seemed off, but because he doesn t, he

The Positive Aspects Of Imperialism
Imperialism is described in The American history as a The quest for colonial empires . This was
something new for the newly developed country, The request for more natural resources was at
its peak, with countries like Britain, Germany who have practised imperialism and has
succeeded in expanding its power and influence the United State was more than eager to get into
this river that seems to cough out silver and gold. At first, most Americans viewed this as a
positive Expansion because it will help spread the American way of life such as democracy.
However, this idea was not fully explored by the Americans, they headed into a battlefield with
weapons and crafty strategy, but without knowledge of what the war is about and a possible side
effect on not just the U.S. Do Americans in today s worldwide imperialism as a positive idea or
negative?. Imperialism is viewed by many an immoral act even if its initial reason was thoughtful,
suppression of the American way of life and the after effect is a stain on the nation that way never
be wiped out. American must begin to look outward. the growing production of the country
demands it.... U.S Navy Officer Alfred T. Mahan perfectly describes the main reason why the
American decided to try out imperialism. with the booming economy of the second industrial age,
U.S was running out of almost everything except the increment of a worker from the immigrating
groups. Rev Strong called it survival of the fittest now this claim is

Native American And African Slaves
As the Native American population had been decimated by genocide and war, England looked to
African slaves to provide them with the necessary labor to harvest tobacco. Although African
slaves had the same status as that of an indentured servant, African slaves began to become more
and more restricted, losing all human and civil rights. These restrictions were placed on African
slaves to protect the rights of the indentured Englishmen, and developed a social/political system
based of segregation and discrimination, ultimately leading to the modern ideology of the world,
racism. Native Americans were not spared from the stupidity of racial superiority, and like
Africans, were forced into slavery. Native American slavery though predominately in the Spanish
colonies was used in North America. Though unlike the Mesoamerican slaves, the North American
slaves were also the slavers. The colonists of North America lured Native Americans to capture
other Native Americans in exchange for trade goods and alliances, forcing Native Americans to
choose between being the slaver or the slaved, much like some African tribes. In South America, the
Spaniards enticed nearly 100,000 under false promises of riches, and instead enslaved them, forcing
them to harvest guano (bird excrements), an export from Peru that had a value of fifteen billion
dollars. As slavery spread throughout the New World, much of the African, Chinese, and indigenous
culture began to mix together, resulting in a unique

Essay On Employee Retention
RECRUITING AND RETAINING EMPLOYEES IN A SEASONAL ENVIRONMENT
November 1, 2011 Many organizations do not have the luxury of having a constant demand in
their businesses. Some companies face a large increase in business for the holiday season, summer
vacation, or for a major event throughout the year. These predictable trends allow many businesses
to hire additional employees to help with the demand. The organizations are then forced to lay
several employees off when the demand returns to a normal level. This paper focuses on where
organizations with a large increase in seasonal demand can recruit new employees and what
programs they can create to help increase employee retention. Solutions include working with

Timing and the duration of the exchange also need to be similar to other companies that
participate in the program. Employees need to be willing to work the entire duration of the
assignment. Interviews between the employees and the participating companies need to take
place along with a tour and preview of the facilities. Contractual agreements are drafted and
signed by all parties involved. The agreements prevent companies from hiring employees on a
full time basis and are designed to prevent litigation caused by the Employee Exchange Program.
After the exchange, employee evaluations are conducted at the partnering companies. Finally,
interviews take place with employees to assess where improvements can be made in the
Employee Exchange Program. The evaluations and interviews provide an open form of
communication between the managers of each company. It gives a good understanding of how
employees and the effectiveness of the program are working (Employee Exchange, 2011, p. 3

President Woodrow Wilson s First Modern Ministry For...
Political philosopher John Locke observed that people will relinquish power to government with
an explicit or implicit trust that the leaders will act for the public good i.e. the good of every
particular member of that society (105). However, it is recognized that trust is not given in
perpetuity and can be removed over time, especially when the people s rights are violated (Koven
90). As distrust grows towards government and the people speak out, government has proven it
will take drastic action to influence public opinion. For example, after he broke his promise to
keep America out of war, President Woodrow Wilson
created the first modern ministry for
propaganda in the West suppressed dissent and resistance.
As the 28th President of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson served two terms from
March 1913 to March 1921. He was nominated by his party at the 1912 Democratic Convention
where he campaigned on a program called the New Freedom, which stressed individualism and
states rights (Freidel). Once elected, Wilson faced the decision of the nation s involvement in the
ongoing conflict between rival blocs of Great European Powers: the Austro Hungarian Empire and
Germany on one side and France, Russia and Great Britain on the other (Butcher).
During his first term, Wilson exclusively expressed neutrality. For instance, on October 27, 1913 in
Mobile, AL before the Southern Commercial Congress, Wilson stated, that the United States will

Reaction Paper On The Experience Machine
What if you could reprogram your life to feel, be and experience exactly what you wanted to?
Robert Nozick; an American Philosopher; targeted hedonist utilitarianism by introducing The
experience machine a thought experiment that he d developed to further apprehend whether our
ultimate goal in life was simply pleasure, or if there was something deeper and more complex
which we aspire to achieve. Philosophers have widely accepted that pleasure is the absolute highest
valuable good that we can obtain in life; the most desirous thing in the world. However, happinessis
one of many components of the human life. In 1971 Robert Nozick introduced a philosophical
experiment called The Experience Machine which proposed that neuropsychologist could stimulate
your brain using electrodes. Hooking up to this machine would mean that you would reprogram
your life to experience your ultimate fantasies and goals. Whether it be becoming a financially
successful person, Climbing Mount Everest, or simply finding the perfect romantic partner. While
in the experience machine, you d have no idea that what you were experiencing was a virtual
reality projected from this machine into your mind. Robert Nozick raised the question, Would you
enter The Experience Machine or do you believe there is something more that we value in life?
Entering the machine would mean that you believed simply having pleasurable experiences is the
only valuable thing in life. Not attaching to the machine would

3.2.Dated 19.05.2015 [10] The Order (Dated 16.06. 2015), had fixed the time limit for filing of
the Pleadings on jurisdictional question to 16.12.2014 and 16.06.2015, for the Republic of

The Importance of Teacher Tenure in Public Schools Essay...
Most would ask, What exactly is teacher tenure? . Well, in short teacher tenure is a permanent job
contract for school teachers. Teachers can earn tenure by proving their teaching skills over a
specific number of years while working at the same school. In most cases the number of years a
teacher must work at the same schoolis anywhere from two to seven years. After receiving tenurea
teacher cannot lose his or her job without just cause, for example obvious incompetence or severe
misconduct. Tenure offers job security to teachers that have successfully completed their
probational period of teaching. (Heard) So the questions is, should teacher tenure be abolished in
public schools? One s answer should be no. Teacher tenure is... Show more content on

Think of it this way, experience is important. Tenure is one way to reward experience. Some
argue that tenure allows bad teachers to stay in the classroom. Teachers that are just there to put
in their time and don t really care about the students themselves. They feel that granting teachers
tenure encourages them to become complacent about their jobs. Tenures are something that can
be beneficial to students, as well. By providing job security, teachers can concentrate on
teaching, instead of worrying about overly obsessed parents coming after them. Take for
instance, a parent getting a coach fired because they did not give their son or daughter enough
play time on the court. There is the classic scenario of parents that will look for a teacher s flaws
in teaching before they look for flaws in their child as a student. (Sharifi) The bottom line is that
tenure is a complex issue, most do not understand what it is or how it works. Tenure policies vary
from state to state, so its not surprising that most are not really famililar with it. Also it only
effects a small number of the population. Many are confused as to just what rights tenured teachers
have, or whether they can even be fired. First of all most should know that teacher tenure has a
system of due process, checks, and balances so that teachers can be fired just not to easily. Before
argueing that teacher tenure should be abolished, one should listen to a few points.

Reasons For The Schlieffen Plan
The Schlieffen plan was made started in 1894 by the German Chief of Staff Alfred von
Schlieffen in the request of Kaiser Wilhelm II. Von Schlieffen continued making the plan until
1903, then the plan was revised in 1903 later being carried out in 1906, 12 years after he started
creating the Schlieffen plan, knowing that he would be attacked from two sides of Germany,
Russia attacking from the East and France attacking from the West. Von Schlieffen Created the
Schlieffen Plan in 1905 when he was German Chief of Staff. Germany wanted to take out France
in the west before Russia could mobilise their troops to attack the east side of Germany, they did
this because they were scared that they would be attack from both sides of Germany and be taken
off the world map. So they attack France because they felt they were more of a threat as they could
mobilise their troops quickly, then Germany would transport their troops through railway tracks to
the east to attack the Russian soldiers, therefore having conquered France and defended against the

A Haunted House Analysis
In Virginia Woolf s A Haunted House, images of darkness and light have numerous symbolic
meanings. Light is associated with the presence of the ghostly couple that roams the speaker s
home, but it has symbolic meanings beyond that it represents the insight and truth the speaker
gains from observing the couple. In addition, as is revealed by the last lines of the story and the
images of darkness used in the story (which provide a counterpoint to the symbolism of light), light
represents the love and happiness that comes from union. Overall, light plays a major role in the
development of one of the major themes of the story: human relationships are more valuable and
lasting than any tangible riches or treasures.
Light imagery is associated with the ghostly couple throughout much of Virginia Woolfs work. For
instance, in section 3, the speaker states that she uses the reflection of sunlight in the drawing room
window to tell if the ghosts are present. In sections 4 and 5, light seems to describe the ghostly
couple itself: But the beam of the lamp falls straight from the window...Wandering through the
house...the ghostly couple seek their joy. By linking the presence of light with the presence of the
ghost couple, Woolf uses light as an illuminating and revealing force. The light the ghosts bring
with them opens her eyes and mind to presences she would otherwise be ignorant of. Furthermore,
the light of the ghosts reveals an important truth to the speaker at the end of the story,

The Social Responsibility Of A Business
MF believed that a business itself cannot have any social responsibility. Only the people who own
or are affiliated with the business can have any form of social responsibly. His article, A Friedman

for a businesss corporate executive. The corporate executive is the employee of the business owner
and, therefore, is directly responsible to them. Friedman states that the corporate executive s

fraud (Friedman).
Porter and Kramer take a very different stance on this topic. They believe that there is a very real
and strong link between CSR and competitive analysis. The modern world ranks businesses on
their CSR and directs a significant amount of publicity towards companies who are focused on the
health and welfare of their customers and the earth. The traditional mindset concerning CSR puts
business and society at odds, when in reality they are interdependent and reliant on each other.
Porter Kramer think that antiquated thoughts about CSR have pressured businesses into thinking
that there is an only one generic approach to CSR. This one size fits all mindset does not actually
fit all, and it is in no way the best for all business strategies. Porter Kramer believe this mindset
leads to a disconnected and

The major topics explored in Calculus C are largely defined by derivatives of vector valued and
parametrically defined functions, integration by partial fractions, improper integrals, series
convergence (Taylor and Maclaurin), L Hopitals Rule, and numerous applications. All of the
following topics require a solid foundation in not only CalculusA but also Calculus B.
Vector valued functions include mathematical functions of one or more variables whose range is
defined as a set of both multidimensional vectors and infinite dimensional vectors. Much of this was
expanded on by Newton and Descartes during the Enlightenment in Europe. Newton largely defined
calculus in his book Principia Mathematica whereas Descartes was the founder of analytic ... Show

The derivative of a three dimensional vector function can be differentiated by using standard
differentiating rules, taught in a standard Calculus A course, as it breaks up the components in the
Cartesian coordinate system.
Integration by partial fractions, or in other words commonly known as the partial derivative of a
vector function, is defined with a commonly used variable a, with respect to the frequently used
scalar variable q. A sub I is the scalar component of a in the direction of e sub i. Sometimes, it is
also called the direction cosine of a and e sub i, but it is also frequently known in most math classes
as the dot product. The vectors e1,e2,e3 form what is known as an orthonormal basis that is
commonly fixed in the reference frame in which the derivative of the partial is being taken. This
was also further expanded on by Newton in the 17th century in his famous book Principia
Mathematica and he often used the notation from Gottfried Leibniz, another 17th century
mathematician.
Defined by Isaac Newton and Descartes, in calculus C, another frequently taught topic is what is
known as an improper integral. It is defined as the limit of a definite integral as an endpoint of the
interval or intervals of integration approach either a specified definite real number or infinity or
even in some cases negative infinity. In other cases both endpoints approach limits. Such an integral
is often written symbolically just like a standard definite integral,

The Funerary Model Of A Pig Sty
Mingqi
For this first paper assignment I have chosen to write my essay on The Funerary Model of a Pig
Sty. This artwork takes place in Ancient China around c. 2nd century BCE. It was designed and
used within the Han Dynasty early in China s history. These clay models like the pig sty and other
burial goods had a hand in furthering the development of Chinas cultural heritage and beliefs.
Within this paper I will be discussing my chosen MIA artwork, works that are similar but different
to this artwork, and also how all three works, although all different, have the same purpose for what
they have been made for. Then finally touching on how the context of the piece can change based
on its surroundings.

(MIA) The roofs are separated into four sections on both rooftops. On the square latrine roofs
there are four triangles. While on the rectangular latrine there are two triangles and two trapezoids
for the rooftops shape. I find that this adds to the depth of the roof giving this piece great detail.
One can see this not just in the structure, but also in the details of the animals found in the pigsty
model. For starters when looking around there are seven animals total. They are a boar or male pig,
a dog, a sow who is feeding her three young piglets, and finally a bird. (MIA) In this particular
model each animal is found doing something known for what that animal does in real life. For
example the boar is outside the pen eating slop by himself out of a bowl. While the dog is above
the boar on the walkway lazily sleeping his day away in what could be the hot sun. As one
moves along within the piece and looks inside the pen one can see a sow that is really doing the
most work in this model for she is feeding her three young piglets right in the middle of the pen.
This is okay because her and the piglets are the only four in the pen causing a feeling of calm to
the person looking at the work. Finally we move our eyes up and see a nest with a bird in it. This
bird seems to be stretching his wings or cleaning them minding its own business. All these
individual details make up one

Jamestown Fiasco Research Paper
I believe that the settlement of Jamestown was a fiasco for the following reasons... First, the
colonists were not aware of the infectious diseases that the Europeans brought to the land. For that,
they do not carry any treatment that was capable of helping them to fight infections, as a result
many died. http://www.nps.gov/jame/learn/historyculture/a short history of jamestown.htm
Second mistake was the need for the food. The settlers priority was to find gold. They did not
have any knowledge about what were the resource of the land. They should have a plan to invest
in agriculture in order to survive, but they did not. They relayed on Indians to provide them with
food. That is why in the winter of 1609 1610 many suffered and died because

The Death Of Venice By Thomas Mann
In 1913, German writer Thomas Mann s most widely read novella entitled Death in Venice was
published. Born to Johann Heinrich Mann, and Julia da Silva Bruhns on June 6, 1875, in Lubeck,
Germany. Thomas Mann was not the type that excelled in school in fact in his own words he
finished school rather ingloriously (Mann, Thomas MannBiographical ). However, after the death
of his father during his mid teenage years, Mann moved to south of Germany, in Munich with his
mother. There in Munich, Mann began preparing for his career in journalism and by his early
twenties his first collection of short stories entitled Der kleine Herr Friedemann or as translated

The polarity between Auschenbach s stiff cultural environment and his resulting lifestyle and the
aesthetically pleasing magnificent city...A city full of irresistible attraction, is the basis for the
moral of the novella (Mann, Death in Venice). The importance of Venice, Italy being chosen as the
second setting is that Venice is everything Auschenbach and his accustomed cultural environment
are not. And it is this very contrast that temps and leads Auschenbach down the rabbit hole. As
Hannelore Mundt also mentions in the sixth chapter of her literary criticism of Death in Venice,
Mann took inspiration from German philosopher and cultural critic, Friedrich Nietzsche (Anderson).
As stated in Professor Raymond Gray s lecture notes for Death in Venice . Mann was profoundly
influenced by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche s primary aesthetic treatise,
The Birth of Tragedy out of the Spirit of Music (1872) postulated the existence of two distinct and
opposing artistic tendencies (Gray). In the case of the protagonist von Auschenbach if whether it
was the austere cultural environment of his homeland of Germany or the paternal influence that

Health Effects of Computer Use
Introduction
Over the years, there has been a large increase in the use of computers as the world is evolving. In
my study, the objective is to emphasize on the health effects of computer use in working
environments and domestic homes. The speed and effectiveness of computers has made a good
number organization and businesses depend on the equipment. When the computer was first
introduced it was mostly used by adults. In the present day, there have been an increasing number
of children using the computer for leisure and education purpose. There have been fears of the use

The solution is to get a more relaxed chair that is comfortable and adjustable allowing the
individual set it up to his/her taste. For this reason, it is good to buy comfortable chairs that
come in various shapes and sizes to best fit an individual. This would help the individual keep a
good position to reduce back strain depending on the positioning of the keyboard and monitor in
order to prevent soreness of the neck and back. The issue of eyestrain is the most common
complaint of computer users (Doctor Smith). When people use computers for prolonged periods
of time, it often leads to symptoms such as eye fatigue, eye irritation, and blurred vision
(NYSUT). There are other side effects like; aching, tiredness, burning, and watering. The above
mentioned visual problems are quite dangerous to an individual s health and wellness. It is
advisable to have your vision checked regularly in order to correct this problem which can be
quite straightforward and affordable. The methods to follow in order to avoid such problems his
to blink when working on the computer, take more breaks, and engage in other activities that
would prevent the person from looking at the screen. These are ways of preventing eyestrains and
vision problems. In recent times, computer radiation has raised major concern that it is dangerous
to people s health. When an individual exposes his/herself to radiation, they stand the risk of all
kinds of cancer such as tumors, brain cancer

Secondly, Morgan s role as Red, develops a friendship with Andy as well. Lastly, Red, transpires

reasoning to its relevance is quite simple. We all need someone who can acquire things we need,

Role Of Women In Frankenstein
The Temperament of the Natural Role of Women in Frankenstein The scientific advances in
Frankenstein led to disastrous consequences, but on a more biological level than one would think.
The author, Mary Shelley was a woman born in Somers Town, London, in 1797. She was raised by
her father William Godwin, who was a writer and philosopher. When she wrote Frankenstein,
Shelley portrays a determined, male character, Victor Frankenstein as an obsessed scientist who
creates a so called monster out of various body parts he dug up out of a graveyard. The reason for
the description, so called monster is because a true monster is evil, inhumane, and lacks remorse. In
addition to this, the stigma around appearance being sociated with monster like... Show more

It s important to realize that Frankenstein s nineteenth century is founded on the division of
gender roles: the male inhabits the public sphere, the female is relegated to domestic sphere. For
example, the men in all work outside the home, as public servants, scientists, merchants, or
explorers. Also, the women are confined to the home; Elizabeth, for instance, is not permitted to
travel with Victor. Interestingly, this is the reason why his wife wasn t involved with the idea of
this experiment. Throughout the novel, intellectual activity is segregated from emotional
activity. With this in mind, Victor Frankenstein cannot do scientific research and think lovingly
of Elizabeth and his family at the same time. While working on his experiment, he states to
forget those friends who were so many miles absent, and whom I had not seen for so long a
time, ( Shelley 50) which means he became disconnected from his relationships. This directly to
his downfall because Frankenstein cannot work and love at the same time. This results in him
failing to feel empathy for the creature. The reason for this is because being in isolation for so
long, he starts to lose his sense of humility. By not maintaining a loving relationship with his wife,
he lost his reason to show compassion. Also, he fails to love or feel any parental responsibility. As
a matter of fact, Frankenstein manages to eliminate the biological role of women, but didn t fulfill
the motherly aspect. He fails to raise the monster as a mother would raise a child. The reason for
this is because he created the monster for his own personal gain. Women, on the other hand, give
birth with the intention to nurture and raising a life. By eliminating the biological role of women,
but not fulfilling the motherly aspect, it results in the monster seeking revenge on his creator,

No matter how far back we look in the history, we can say that women suffered sexism from the
very beginning.
It is sad to say, but it is a living thing, even in Hungary too. I think the bias of women can be

Fistly, women usually suffers sexism on interviews. This happens because the companies ask them
about what is their plans to start a family/ have a baby. In general, companies prefer to hire a man
instead of woman, because the man wouldn t go on a birth holiday obviously, like the lady would.
The second field of sexism of women is the payment. There are a bunch of statistics (made by the

Some drugs however can still cause an addiction even if the drug itself has no addictive properties

actually have a reaction in their body due to not having the drug but they can still mentally
develop an extreme want for it. Psychological addictions are more common in people who abuse
drugs like marijuana. Marijuana itself has no substance inside of it that are actually addictive but
the brain can still develop a desire for the dopamine that marijuana releases making a person
want to do it. Some people say that this is not a real addiction however because a person can
develop a psychological addiction to anything. A person with a psychological addiction can usually
just kick the addiction themselves or have a friend help monitor them but sometimes seek
professional help anyways. Although not as severe as a physical addiction a psychological
addiction can still negatively affect a persons life.
People who have really bad addictions are usually easy to identify buy some people with minor
addictions can not be spotted unless a person knows the symptoms of an addiction. People with
addictions often get confused about things

Financial Reporting And The International Accounting...
Introduction Purpose
Complexity in financial reporting is apparent especially when applying it to relevant accounting
theories. Complexity is the state of being difficult to understand and apply (SEC 2008, cited in
Petersen, 2012). When we apply complexity to accounting we think of it in terms of applying it to
accounting transactions which flow onto financial statements and how these were developed from
the Accounting Standards. (Peterson, 2012, p.73). The purpose of this report is to address the
complexity of financial reporting and how the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)
intends to do address this problem through its Disclosure Initiative .
The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the international accounting standards
developed by the ISAB. The ISAB have set up the Disclosure Initiative to examine where IFRS
could be improved.
We will examine the complexity of financial reporting and how it applies to Positive Accounting
Theory (PAT). We will also discuss how measurement of financial reporting effects the complexity
of financial statements in terms of fair value and historical cost methods. We will use supporting
evidence from peer reviewed journal articles to support our argument. We will then present our
findings and recommendations to the Corporate Governance Council Chairman of Australian
Securities Exchange (ASX).

help or ban us from doing the things we love. An example would be the mass shootings in and

things will get and the harder and more scarier our lives will continue to get as we go along.
Freedom isn t just there to look it in the face and then slap it, it s there to help us become more
than just a person but to be a family. Although I think there should be less freedom, because the
less freedom the easier, better, happier, and more joy we can have and feel in not only our lives
but our hearts too. The harm it can do, lets use isis as an example, he s coming for the world and
America in more than one hundred different attack methods and all we are doing about it is
sitting around trying to figure out a better plan as to how to stop him from coming to America. If
we had a better way of thinking and going into it than I think that the chances of us having it easy

The Internal Revenue Code
I am writing this letter on behalf of my client to explain the potential benefits of electing to be
taxed as sub chapter S to your board members. As we all know, for many companies, the most
important tax decision to make is whether to elect to be treated under the provisions of sub chapter

and on analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of choosing to be treated as an S Corporation.

The excess of loss can be carried back to prior years, or forward to later years. If the S
corporation did not distribute income to shareholders, the shareholders would still be responsible
to pay taxes on the income, according to their shares in the corporation. Also, an S corporation
also has no corporate alternative minimum tax (AMT) liability, and they are subject to an
accumulated earnings tax that applies to corporations that do not distribute their earnings, but it
might affect the shareholders individual AMT liability. In an S corporation, shareholders receive
a step up (or step down) in the basis of their stock, based on the earnings they obtain each year,
which reduces the shareholder s tax liability when the shares are sold. The step up in basis helps
reduce the net income subject to capital gain tax; when the shareholder receives distributed income
that was taxed previously to him/her, the stock basis should be reduced. Also, any time the
corporation suffers a net operating loss, the shareholder must reduce the basis of their stock to
reflect the amount of loss passed through to them for their individual tax return. In order to obtain
an S Corporation election, an election must be made on or before the fifteenth day of the third
month of the current taxable year for it to be effective for that year. Electing Subchapter S after the

when faced with someone who is more down than they are. It s all a matter of degrees (Nye,

person. Of course from time to time I come across one that will make me reminisce or truly think
deeper than what is due the next class period, but in the blaring monotony of an unsatisfying
daily routine shoved me low enough I hadn t stopped for a moment to see others who were even
farther down than I was. In an attempt to find who we are and what we want to do in life, I feel

Catholics are followers of Jesus. Our journey begins at baptism, and we continue on that journey
towards eternal happiness. There are two main ideas that separate Catholicism from Christianity.
The first is that Catholics believe in the Church as its teacher. This means that just as you might
need a math teacher to explain your textbook in a way that you understand, we need the leaders
of the Church (Pope, bishops, and priests) to interpret the Bible. We shouldn t take everything the
Bible says literally, and these leaders help us to apply its teachings to our lives. The second main
idea is that there are seven Sacraments (baptism, confession, communion, confirmation, marriage,
annointing of the sick, Holy Orders) that we need to incorporate into our lives so that we may
live the teachings of the Church. It is one thing to hear how we should live our lives, but it is
another to do. That is where the Sacraments help. The Church has laws governing the reception of
all the sacraments. Members are expected to try and understand the meaning of the Church s rituals
and to develop a full sacramental lifestyle. (web) Catholicism has other teachings that are integral
to the religion. Followers are expected to live according to the Ten Commandments of the Old
Testament, the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, and the laws and moral teachings of the Church.

Reed wants people to know that, despite his craziness, he truly cares for his students and their
futures.
Reed sees value in mandatory chapel. He knows that the students who need to hear the messages
most would not attend if it were not mandatory. He has had many students tell him that they
originally did not want to attend chapel, but they learned to worship and grow in Christ.
He is constantly around campus. From sporting events to chapel, he greets students everywhere.
They all know he is the campus pastor, but who is Tim Reed really? What does he add to the
Arizona Christian University (ACU) campus?
Tim Reed, a Michigan native, grew up in a Christian home. As the son of a pastor, he gained a
great amount of Bible knowledge throughout his adolescent years. Despite the knowledge he
acquired, Reed s faith was not personal until he was thirteen years old. He received his BA from
Cornerstone University, then earned his Master s in Church Ministries. He and his wife, Dixie,
have a son and a daughter, Tara and Timothy. Pastor Reed s greatest accomplishments in life are
being a good father to his two children and being a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only has Reed traveled to almost every state in America to serve and evangelize to others, he
has served internationally in fifteen countries. He spent 28 years as a full time instructor and is
now a Christian ministries department chair.
His daily duties cover a wide variety of activities. He spends the majority of his time encouraging
students through discussion and prayer. Furthermore, he attends all home sporting events, as well
as concerts, recitals, plays, and most other student activities. Discipling, training, and developing
students to become future leaders of the community are tasks he particularly enjoys. He remains
connected with alumni through personal meetings and frequent communication. Additionally, Reed
spends a great amount of time serving the needy with ACU

Blood Pressure Procedure
Getting your blood pressure taken is the first thing that nurses do when giving a check up to
their patients. When getting blood pressure checked the nurses put the arm ring, which goes
around the arm of the patient, is very uncomfortable and bulky. I have thought of a way that uses
newer technology. The supplies I will be using would be the blood pressure monitor and a piece
of the heat monitor. The piece of the heart monitor I would be using is the clamp that goes on
the patient s finger. The reason I am going to use this is because it is, seems to be, the more
efficient way to make the blood pressure monitor less uncomfortable and bulky as I had stated
earlier. Sense I m not using the clamp for the heart monitor to check the heart I need to enhance the
clamper. The way I would enhance the clamper would be to make the sensor a little more sensitive
to the blood flow going through the arteries. Instead of the blood pressure monitor going around the
patients arm it would clamp on top the finger. In order to get the proper measurement,... Show more

Like I stated in the paragraph before this one, one would also try to take medicines to try and get
the blood pressure back on a stable level. The list of medicines that might work are above. Some
foods that can help get high blood pressure back to normal are: peas, baked potatoes, celery, green
beans, papaya fruit, oatmeal, guava, yogurt, tomatoes, kiwis, blueberries, spinach, avocados,
cantaloupe, prunes, carrots, dandelion, salmon, skim milk, watermelon, raisins, spices, beans, dark
chocolate, beets, bananas, nuts, and oranges. The tree worst things that can rise blood pressure are:

  • 2. What Are The Red Flags In The Landlady In the story, The Landlady by Roald Dahl there are numerous red flags where a young man, Billy, has trouble trusting his instincts. Billy is quite intrigued when he finds a Bed and Breakfast that is inexpensive. He finds the sweet old lady to be a little off, but ignores it until he realizes what she will do to him. In this story, Dahl shows that Billy should trust his instincts when something seems off, otherwise something awful might end up happening to him. The first red flag happens in the beginning of the story. Although it may not stand out as particularly important or atrocious, when combined with other minor, almost negligible events that happen it is definitely worth noticing. Dahl writes, Normally you ring the bell and you have at least a half minutes wait before the door opens. But this dame was a like a jack in the box. (2) Billy appears to find this a little strange, but this alone, without her telling him how she was expecting him and other little things she does it doesn t seem that important. She says little peculiar things to him when he first arrives at the Bed and Breakfast. This was something new for the newly developed country, The request for more natural resources was at its peak, with countries like Britain, Germany who have practised imperialism and has succeeded in expanding its power and influence the United State was more than eager to get into this river that seems to cough out silver and gold. At first, most Americans viewed this as a positive Expansion because it will help spread the American way of life such as democracy. However, this idea was not fully explored by the Americans, they headed into a battlefield with weapons and crafty strategy, but without knowledge of what the war is about and a possible side effect on not just the U.S. Do Americans in today s worldwide imperialism as a positive idea or negative?. • 4. Native American And African Slaves As the Native American population had been decimated by genocide and war, England looked to African slaves to provide them with the necessary labor to harvest tobacco. Although African slaves had the same status as that of an indentured servant, African slaves began to become more and more restricted, losing all human and civil rights. These restrictions were placed on African slaves to protect the rights of the indentured Englishmen, and developed a social/political system based of segregation and discrimination, ultimately leading to the modern ideology of the world, racism. Native Americans were not spared from the stupidity of racial superiority, and like Africans, were forced into slavery. Native American slavery though predominately in the Spanish colonies was used in North America. Though unlike the Mesoamerican slaves, the North American slaves were also the slavers. The colonists of North America lured Native Americans to capture other Native Americans in exchange for trade goods and alliances, forcing Native Americans to choose between being the slaver or the slaved, much like some African tribes. In South America, the Spaniards enticed nearly 100,000 under false promises of riches, and instead enslaved them, forcing them to harvest guano (bird excrements), an export from Peru that had a value of fifteen billion dollars. As slavery spread throughout the New World, much of the African, Chinese, and indigenous culture began to mix together, resulting in a unique ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Employee Retention RECRUITING AND RETAINING EMPLOYEES IN A SEASONAL ENVIRONMENT November 1, 2011 Many organizations do not have the luxury of having a constant demand in their businesses. Some companies face a large increase in business for the holiday season, summer vacation, or for a major event throughout the year. These predictable trends allow many businesses to hire additional employees to help with the demand. The organizations are then forced to lay several employees off when the demand returns to a normal level. Timing and the duration of the exchange also need to be similar to other companies that participate in the program. Employees need to be willing to work the entire duration of the assignment. Interviews between the employees and the participating companies need to take place along with a tour and preview of the facilities. Contractual agreements are drafted and signed by all parties involved. The agreements prevent companies from hiring employees on a full time basis and are designed to prevent litigation caused by the Employee Exchange Program. After the exchange, employee evaluations are conducted at the partnering companies. Finally, interviews take place with employees to assess where improvements can be made in the Employee Exchange Program. The evaluations and interviews provide an open form of communication between the managers of each company. • 6. President Woodrow Wilson s First Modern Ministry For... Political philosopher John Locke observed that people will relinquish power to government with an explicit or implicit trust that the leaders will act for the public good i.e. the good of every particular member of that society (105). However, it is recognized that trust is not given in perpetuity and can be removed over time, especially when the people s rights are violated (Koven 90). As distrust grows towards government and the people speak out, government has proven it will take drastic action to influence public opinion. For example, after he broke his promise to keep America out of war, President Woodrow Wilson created the first modern ministry for propaganda in the West suppressed dissent and resistance. As the 28th President of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson served two terms from March 1913 to March 1921. He was nominated by his party at the 1912 Democratic Convention where he campaigned on a program called the New Freedom, which stressed individualism and states rights (Freidel). Once elected, Wilson faced the decision of the nation s involvement in the ongoing conflict between rival blocs of Great European Powers: the Austro Hungarian Empire and Germany on one side and France, Russia and Great Britain on the other (Butcher). Robert Nozick; an American Philosopher; targeted hedonist utilitarianism by introducing The experience machine a thought experiment that he d developed to further apprehend whether our ultimate goal in life was simply pleasure, or if there was something deeper and more complex which we aspire to achieve. Philosophers have widely accepted that pleasure is the absolute highest valuable good that we can obtain in life; the most desirous thing in the world. However, happinessis one of many components of the human life. In 1971 Robert Nozick introduced a philosophical experiment called The Experience Machine which proposed that neuropsychologist could stimulate your brain using electrodes. Hooking up to this machine would mean that you would reprogram your life to experience your ultimate fantasies and goals. Whether it be becoming a financially successful person, Climbing Mount Everest, or simply finding the perfect romantic partner. While in the experience machine, you d have no idea that what you were experiencing was a virtual reality projected from this machine into your mind. Teachers can earn tenure by proving their teaching skills over a specific number of years while working at the same school. In most cases the number of years a teacher must work at the same schoolis anywhere from two to seven years. After receiving tenurea teacher cannot lose his or her job without just cause, for example obvious incompetence or severe misconduct. Some argue that tenure allows bad teachers to stay in the classroom. Teachers that are just there to put in their time and don t really care about the students themselves. They feel that granting teachers tenure encourages them to become complacent about their jobs. Tenures are something that can be beneficial to students, as well. By providing job security, teachers can concentrate on teaching, instead of worrying about overly obsessed parents coming after them. Take for instance, a parent getting a coach fired because they did not give their son or daughter enough play time on the court. There is the classic scenario of parents that will look for a teacher s flaws in teaching before they look for flaws in their child as a student. (Sharifi) The bottom line is that tenure is a complex issue, most do not understand what it is or how it works. Tenure policies vary from state to state, so its not surprising that most are not really famililar with it. Also it only effects a small number of the population. Many are confused as to just what rights tenured teachers have, or whether they can even be fired. First of all most should know that teacher tenure has a system of due process, checks, and balances so that teachers can be fired just not to easily. Before argueing that teacher tenure should be abolished, one should listen to a few points. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. A Haunted House Analysis In Virginia Woolf s A Haunted House, images of darkness and light have numerous symbolic meanings. Light is associated with the presence of the ghostly couple that roams the speaker s home, but it has symbolic meanings beyond that it represents the insight and truth the speaker gains from observing the couple. In addition, as is revealed by the last lines of the story and the images of darkness used in the story (which provide a counterpoint to the symbolism of light), light represents the love and happiness that comes from union. Overall, light plays a major role in the development of one of the major themes of the story: human relationships are more valuable and lasting than any tangible riches or treasures. Light imagery is associated with the ghostly couple throughout much of Virginia Woolfs work. For instance, in section 3, the speaker states that she uses the reflection of sunlight in the drawing room window to tell if the ghosts are present. In sections 4 and 5, light seems to describe the ghostly couple itself: But the beam of the lamp falls straight from the window...Wandering through the house...the ghostly couple seek their joy. By linking the presence of light with the presence of the ghost couple, Woolf uses light as an illuminating and revealing force. The light the ghosts bring with them opens her eyes and mind to presences she would otherwise be ignorant of. Furthermore, the light of the ghosts reveals an important truth to the speaker at the end of the story, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vector valued functions include mathematical functions of one or more variables whose range is defined as a set of both multidimensional vectors and infinite dimensional vectors. The derivative of a three dimensional vector function can be differentiated by using standard differentiating rules, taught in a standard Calculus A course, as it breaks up the components in the Cartesian coordinate system. Integration by partial fractions, or in other words commonly known as the partial derivative of a vector function, is defined with a commonly used variable a, with respect to the frequently used scalar variable q. A sub I is the scalar component of a in the direction of e sub i. Sometimes, it is also called the direction cosine of a and e sub i, but it is also frequently known in most math classes as the dot product. The vectors e1,e2,e3 form what is known as an orthonormal basis that is commonly fixed in the reference frame in which the derivative of the partial is being taken. This was also further expanded on by Newton in the 17th century in his famous book Principia Mathematica and he often used the notation from Gottfried Leibniz, another 17th century mathematician. For example, the men in all work outside the home, as public servants, scientists, merchants, or explorers. Also, the women are confined to the home; Elizabeth, for instance, is not permitted to travel with Victor. Interestingly, this is the reason why his wife wasn t involved with the idea of this experiment. Throughout the novel, intellectual activity is segregated from emotional activity. With this in mind, Victor Frankenstein cannot do scientific research and think lovingly of Elizabeth and his family at the same time. While working on his experiment, he states to forget those friends who were so many miles absent, and whom I had not seen for so long a time, ( Shelley 50) which means he became disconnected from his relationships. This directly to his downfall because Frankenstein cannot work and love at the same time. This results in him failing to feel empathy for the creature. The reason for this is because being in isolation for so long, he starts to lose his sense of humility. By not maintaining a loving relationship with his wife, he lost his reason to show compassion. Also, he fails to love or feel any parental responsibility. As a matter of fact, Frankenstein manages to eliminate the biological role of women, but didn t fulfill the motherly aspect. • 31. Abbey Road Analysis MUS107 Everybody has seen the iconic image of the Beatles walking single file across the crosswalk of Abbey Road. The image, taken from the cover of the album Abbey Road, is far from being the most revered aspect of the album. Abbey Road was the eleventh album produced by The Beatles, and the last one recorded with all original members in the same studio. The album is considered by many to be one of the best of all time, with Rolling Stone Magazine ranking it 14th out of 500. Abbey Road was the last hurrah of the Beatle s amazing legacy, as the band had essentially broken up by the end of the 70s. The Beatles, along with Abbey Road changed the world of rock music, which is why it is still important to listen to the album today. This essay will discuss the reactions to several songs from the album. Come Together is the first song listed on the album, which was released in 1969. The song followed a similar progression to a typical song structure: intro verse chorus verse chorus verse solo outro. The bass plays an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems like the Beatles simply sat down and had fun with it, as opposed to setting up an agenda. Some of the songs don t sound like they belong together on the same album at all. Octopus s Garden and Here Comes the Sun are lighthearted, fun songs, while I Want You (She s so Heavy) and Something are much more serious. The Beatles also experimented with the song structure in some of their pieces, forgoing a chorus completely and singing verses all the way through. The album seriously speaks to the complexity that was the history of the Beatles . This was created after a great deal of drug use, which gave the group more experiences and perspectives to write from. The band added even more elements by experimenting with a full orchestra on some of their songs. Overall, the album gave me further perspective in to the history of the Beatles , and I enjoyed listening to it all the way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lots of drug abuse often turns into a drug addiction which is much more serious and can even be deadly. Many people do not understand that people who have drug addictions choose to continue their behaviors or that they lack the will to quit. Many people just assume that a person with a drug addiction could just quit anytime they wanted to but that is not the case. Only drugs that actually contain addictive substances can cause physical addictions and once addicted it can be very hard for a person to stop. Some drugs however can still cause an addiction even if the drug itself has no addictive properties inside it. Unlike with a physical addiction a person with a psychological addiction will not actually have a reaction in their body due to not having the drug but they can still mentally develop an extreme want for it. Psychological addictions are more common in people who abuse drugs like marijuana. Marijuana itself has no substance inside of it that are actually addictive but the brain can still develop a desire for the dopamine that marijuana releases making a person want to do it. Some people say that this is not a real addiction however because a person can develop a psychological addiction to anything. A person with a psychological addiction can usually just kick the addiction themselves or have a friend help monitor them but sometimes seek professional help anyways. Although not as severe as a physical addiction a psychological addiction can still negatively affect a persons life. • 33. Financial Reporting And The International Accounting... Introduction Purpose Complexity in financial reporting is apparent especially when applying it to relevant accounting theories. Complexity is the state of being difficult to understand and apply (SEC 2008, cited in Petersen, 2012). When we apply complexity to accounting we think of it in terms of applying it to accounting transactions which flow onto financial statements and how these were developed from the Accounting Standards. (Peterson, 2012, p.73). The purpose of this report is to address the complexity of financial reporting and how the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) intends to do address this problem through its Disclosure Initiative . The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the international accounting standards developed by the ISAB. The ISAB have set up the Disclosure Initiative to examine where IFRS could be improved. We will examine the complexity of financial reporting and how it applies to Positive Accounting Theory (PAT). We will also discuss how measurement of financial reporting effects the complexity of financial statements in terms of fair value and historical cost methods. We will use supporting evidence from peer reviewed journal articles to support our argument. We will then present our findings and recommendations to the Corporate Governance Council Chairman of Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). If we had less freedom in our world there would not be as many shooting s and deaths in the world as there are today. I think that the less freedom people have the better the nation can get. Freedom is not a piece of trash but it s more of a piece of gold, don t take it for granted because freedom can either help or ban us from doing the things we love. An example would be the mass shootings in and around our world. Isis is another good example of that. Although I think there should be less freedom, because the less freedom the easier, better, happier, and more joy we can have and feel in not only our lives but our hearts too. The harm it can do, lets use isis as an example, he s coming for the world and America in more than one hundred different attack methods and all we are doing about it is sitting around trying to figure out a better plan as to how to stop him from coming to America. • 36. The Internal Revenue Code I am writing this letter on behalf of my client to explain the potential benefits of electing to be taxed as sub chapter S to your board members. As we all know, for many companies, the most important tax decision to make is whether to elect to be treated under the provisions of sub chapter S of the Internal Revenue Code, or not. This decision mainly depends on your company s situation, and on analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of choosing to be treated as an S Corporation. Generally, an S corporationdoes not pay corporate level tax, as C corporations do. The corporate income, whether distributed or not, is always taxed to the shareholders, and the shareholders assets and bank accounts are protected from any business... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The excess of loss can be carried back to prior years, or forward to later years. If the S corporation did not distribute income to shareholders, the shareholders would still be responsible to pay taxes on the income, according to their shares in the corporation. Also, an S corporation also has no corporate alternative minimum tax (AMT) liability, and they are subject to an accumulated earnings tax that applies to corporations that do not distribute their earnings, but it might affect the shareholders individual AMT liability. In an S corporation, shareholders receive a step up (or step down) in the basis of their stock, based on the earnings they obtain each year, which reduces the shareholder s tax liability when the shares are sold. The step up in basis helps reduce the net income subject to capital gain tax; when the shareholder receives distributed income that was taxed previously to him/her, the stock basis should be reduced. Also, any time the corporation suffers a net operating loss, the shareholder must reduce the basis of their stock to reflect the amount of loss passed through to them for their individual tax return. Just as she said in her short story, which also happens to be one of my favorite works of hers, My Boyfriend, John Mayer , I noticed with some interest how a person who is down seems much improved when faced with someone who is more down than they are. It s all a matter of degrees (Nye, 175). It has been so long since a poem, or a set of poems, has resonated so deeply within my person. Of course from time to time I come across one that will make me reminisce or truly think deeper than what is due the next class period, but in the blaring monotony of an unsatisfying daily routine shoved me low enough I hadn t stopped for a moment to see others who were even farther down than I was. Our journey begins at baptism, and we continue on that journey towards eternal happiness. There are two main ideas that separate Catholicism from Christianity. The first is that Catholics believe in the Church as its teacher. This means that just as you might need a math teacher to explain your textbook in a way that you understand, we need the leaders of the Church (Pope, bishops, and priests) to interpret the Bible. We shouldn t take everything the Bible says literally, and these leaders help us to apply its teachings to our lives. The second main idea is that there are seven Sacraments (baptism, confession, communion, confirmation, marriage, annointing of the sick, Holy Orders) that we need to incorporate into our lives so that we may live the teachings of the Church. It is one thing to hear how we should live our lives, but it is another to do. That is where the Sacraments help. The Church has laws governing the reception of all the sacraments. Members are expected to try and understand the meaning of the Church s rituals and to develop a full sacramental lifestyle. (web) Catholicism has other teachings that are integral to the religion. Followers are expected to live according to the Ten Commandments of the Old Testament, the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, and the laws and moral teachings of the Church. When getting blood pressure checked the nurses put the arm ring, which goes around the arm of the patient, is very uncomfortable and bulky. I have thought of a way that uses newer technology. The supplies I will be using would be the blood pressure monitor and a piece of the heat monitor. The piece of the heart monitor I would be using is the clamp that goes on the patient s finger. The reason I am going to use this is because it is, seems to be, the more efficient way to make the blood pressure monitor less uncomfortable and bulky as I had stated earlier. Sense I m not using the clamp for the heart monitor to check the heart I need to enhance the clamper.
