Writing an essay on the topic of "Process Essay Thesis" can be a challenging task, as it requires a
deep understanding of the subject matter and the ability to articulate a clear and concise thesis
statement. The process essay genre demands a meticulous approach, as it necessitates the
breakdown of a particular process into sequential steps while maintaining coherence and

Crafting a strong thesis for a process essay requires not only a comprehensive understanding of
the chosen process but also the skill to identify the key elements that will guide the reader
through the procedural journey. One must carefully consider the purpose of the process, its
significance, and the intended outcome. The thesis should encapsulate these aspects while

Time Perception Relation With Age

Research: Time perception relation with age
Time always seems to change. 10 minutes in the dentist s waiting room could fell
like an hour and 10 minutes with friends and family could fell much less than it is.
How we interpret time in most cases or not the same. The way we feel and age
differentiations express how we view time. Time seems to wheeze quicker and
quicker as age develops. Obviously age doesn t give people the ability to change
the speed of time. Psychologist William James marked the reason why humanity
perceives time differently is because we continue to gain less and less experiences.
Experiences such as memorable actions and the first time doing something (first time
skiing, first time working, first kiss, etc.) as we start to lack new memorable actions
the days and weeks [to] smooth themselves out...and the years grow hollow and
collapse.
When you go to school at the first day it feels like a long time for you to get their but
the more you take that route to school there is nothing new happening, and your mind
does not memorize the instances you are in. Other scientists such as Wallach and
Green studied the way time is interpreted they asked young adults (ages 18 20) how
they feel time are like, most answered with stationary motions like motionless and
quiet . The other group (most around the age 78) described time as rapid, fast, and
swift time is a speeding train . Other research furthermore added to the building
The War Of The Union And Confederate Side During The
Civil...
One of the few newspapers to act like Switzerland received a huge amount of
backlash for doing so. The Republican paper did not succumb to the Union or
confederate side and instead advocated for both sides, since the two editors of the
paper had different views, but the public was not pleased with this decision. The
general public deemed it weakness and a sign of duplicity to publish articles
advocating both sides of the issue and dubbed the paper the swill tub (Sachsman,
2014, p. 53). A Virginia paper tried this tactic as well, to no avail. The attempt,
however, on the part of any opposition paper to be simultaneously a Union journal
and a Southern journal was becoming illogical if not well neigh impossible
(Cappon, 1936, p.14). This explains why the majority took a side during the civil
war, as no newspaper wanted to loose the core of their audience due to not taking
sides. It is important to note that not all of the papers in this era were propagandist.
The Enquirer was able to omit their opinions and write objectively about the war.
Wise and his successors objectively reported the news rather than venting their
dissatisfaction with Confederate s conduct of the war (Davis Robertson, 2009, p.
37). This should have been how all the papers of this era reported the war yet a
backlash amongst the public contributed to a public outcry, which can be detrimental
to a newspapers survival. The U.S. government and Confederates were susceptible to
using propaganda to sway
The Impact Of Hydroelectricity Production On Its Future
Trend
Abstract
This report outlines the present situation of hydroelectricity production in China and
speculates on its future trend. By analysing three sets of data, it investigates the
reasons for the significant development of hydroelectricity in China and provides
comparisons between different countries and different kinds of fuel. It concludes by
looking at the support offered by the government and the major reason behind this. It
also suggests that the generation of hydroelectricity in China will keep growing and
will relieve the air pollution issue.
Introduction
With the high speed economic development and the incredible growth in human
population around the world, electricity demand has increased rapidly (Zarfl et al.,
2015). As a fast growing country with the largest population in the world, the
electricity generation in China nearly doubled between 2005 and 2011 (U.S. Energy
Information Administration, 2014). In order to narrow the gap between electricity
generation and consumption and, on the other hand, alleviate the environment
problems mainly caused by fossil fuel, China has encouraged more investment in
renewable energy (Ibid). Hydroelectricity has become the most important renewable
resource as China has a large amount of hydroelectric power potential (Ibid). The
word hydroelectric relates to the generation of electricity using flowing water to
drive a turbine which powers a generator (Oxford Dictionaries online, 2015).

The Safety Of Nascar Great Dale Earnhardt
NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the United States. It is also one of the more
dangerous sports. Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale
Earnhardt as well as fourth generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the
track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came as he hit the wall going at 160
miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal crash at the New
Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing
head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly
when they collided with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose
many new safety features such as the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER)
barrier and the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device. But even with all of these
safety improvements there still have been drivers injured in crashes. So what can
NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their drivers? Actually there is a lot
that NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what we have anticipated.
After Kyle Busch broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015.
NASCAR talked about increasing the amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track.
Instead of having the SAFER barrier in only the corners of the tracks NASCAR has
started to talk about putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track. Also
they have considered getting rid of the grass around the track simply because when
drivers are sliding and
How Women Are Treated in India
In many parts of the world females still have very little rights. Indeed, equality
between men and women have been accepted by the majority of the developed
countries, but developing countries still struggle to see women as equals to men, and
India is one of the worst. Currently, the Indian National Congress Party is only 10%
female, limiting the say women get. In India, women are definitely not seen as equals
to men are being treated like second rate citizens. It also really says something
about the inequality in a country when its women are so used to being treated
badly most of them do not even recognize that they have rights. In India, men were
always valued more than women, which is why an estimated ten million female
foetuses are aborted every year. The lack of females in areas leads to crimes like
human trafficking for sexual reasons like giving birth to more children. Old
traditions and beliefs are the main reasons to why millions of female foetuses are
aborted every year, but it is also the reason behind bride burning, another serious
issue in India.
Bride burning, also known as dowry death occurs quite frequently in India. It is
when the husband or the in laws decide that the dowry the bride offers is not
enough and demands more. If the bride refuses or is financially not able to increase
her dowry, she is tortured until she either agrees or dies; otherwise she is murdered
by her family . The husbands and the in laws usually disguise the deaths as accidents

The National Alliance For End Homelessness Essay
One of the simplest pieces of knowledge we acquire in elementary school (for
future growth and development) are the three basic needs a living organism
requires for living: food, water, and shelter. However, not everyone has access to all
of these essentials. Homeless people are faced with awful conditions and suffer
more due to poor weather conditions, diseases, and lack of safety. There hasn t been
much progress on this issue, and if this continues, the number of homeless people will
only increase. In a few states the topic is being named as a statewide emergency , but
unfortunately this problem is national. Instead of focusing on state programs, local
programs and non profit organizations to fix the housing issue, we must all contribute
to ending this epidemic. The National Alliance to End Homelessness(NAEH)
released an article stating, In January 2015, 564,708 people were homeless on a
given night in the United States (Snapshot of Homelessness). We must develop a
solution to end long term homelessness immediately. The best way of solving this
issue is to provide stable long term housing, which is a term used to describe the
home s environment and financial status.
The most logical solution for homelessness is a project known as Housing First. The
Housing First program was first launched by Tanya Tull, an individual with first hand
experience of poverty and advocate for homelessness, due to an increasing number of
homeless people in the 1990s. Unfortunately, the

Analysis
Problem based learning (PBL), is the using of real world patient problems as the
educational context for teaching medical students basic and clinical sciences, as
well as clinical reasoning and problem solving processes . This week s reading
revealed varied positive effects of the PBL on academic performance, clinical
performance, and levels of satisfaction in learning.
Problem based learning is used in many medical schools is found to have several
advantages, including promotes deeper learning, self directed, learner centered,
improves team working skills, and facilitates lifelong learning, on the other hand, the
PBL approach has a number of disadvantages, such as individual learning needs may
over ridden by group learning needs, and this approach may not suit the learning
styles of some students.
Application
As a student, I found peer teaching is enjoyable for students and peer teachers.
Allowing a students to take turns between being the teacher and the learner, will
achieve benefit from explaining their own personal understanding of the material to
another, and from hearing the same material from the others understanding or
viewpoint. In this model, students spend time summarizing information, assessing the
work or ideas of a peer, and explaining rationales. All of these meaningful activities
promote critical thinking and long term retention
The Elder s Pieter Bruegel The Elder
In this painting, Pieter Bruegel the Elder addresses a sequence of individuals
ongoing a series of actions leading towards a falling perspective. He presents these
features by painting a scene filled with torture and darkness. Throughout his painting,
Bruegel obtains many emotions from his characters projected in his creation by
paying specific attentions to major and minor details. These are portrayed as
effective evidence to what this painting implies to the viewer himself. With an
orientation of texture and colour choices, the painter implies a chain of characters
leading into darkness and sorrow by his striking choices of posture and facial
deformities. Bruegel illustrates an art with implications of history and physical
appearances To
The Importance Of Fallacy In Advertising
Have you ever watched a commercial and thought it was full of complete lies? In
today s advertising world, most commercials are misleading and full of fallacy.
The goal of the advertiser isn t to be ethical, but to sell the product they are
advertising. Some commercials will go great lengths to make sure the viewers are
interested in their product. Almost all of today s advertisements are edited, and
tend to have high production values. Advertisements also play a huge role in
society by showing the public what is new, and what the next big thing is. The
2017 Toyota Mirai Super Bowl commercial contains multiple cases of fallacy, such
as emotional appeal, either/or reasoning, and oversimplification, and uses such to
manipulate viewers into buying their product. This strategy is unethical and is
targeted at the strivers and the experiencers, as described in What We Are to
Advertisers by James B. Twitchell. The commercial starts with a lone daisy
growing between a crack in the asphalt. Slow, dramatic piano music starts to play.
The camera starts to pan in towards the lone daisy, just as a car rushes past, and
stops momentarily with its muffler pointed directly at it. Quickly, the car takes off,
leaving the lone daisy in a thick, black cloud of exhaust. Violins play a dramatic
flare as the daisy slowly shrivels up and wilts. The camera fades back in darkness
with a spotlight shining on the wilted daisy. Suddenly, the music changes to a happier
tone. Over the horizon comes a
the physiological responses common to most sports injuries
Damaged Tissue
The body will respond to an exercise stress in one of three ways and there may be
primary and secondary damage to the tissues as a result of exercise stress. The three
responses the body will take to an exercise stress are, the tissues may adapt to the
stress and no damage occurs, the tissues may become injured, or the tissues will die.
In athletics, athletes often stress their bodies to the point of tissue injury and tissue
death. The body s primary reaction to an injury is tissue destruction. The degree of
tissue destruction will greatly depend on the injurious force. Secondary damage may
occur from cell death. Cell death occurs because of the hypoxia associated with the
injured area. The damage done in the primary stage ... Show more content on

A sprain typically occurs when people fall and land on an outstretched arm, slide
into base, land on the side of their foot, or twist a knee with the foot planted firmly
on the ground. This can result in an over stretch or tear of the ligaments supporting
that joint. Common type of sprains would be in the ankle and in the wrist. The ankle
is one of the most common injuries in professional and recreational sports and
activities. Most ankle sprains happen when the foot abruptly turns inward or outward
as an athlete runs, turns, falls, or lands after a jump. One or more of the lateral
ligaments can be injured if this occurs. Wrists are often sprained after a fall in which
the athlete lands on an outstretched hand.
The usual signs and symptoms of a muscle sprain include pain, swelling, bruising,
and the loss of functional ability. Sometimes people feel a pop or tear when the
injury happens. However, these signs and symptoms can vary in intensity, depending
on the severity of the sprain.
1st Degree Sprain: A 1st Degree sprain causes overstretching or slight tearing of the
ligaments with no joint instability. A person with a mild sprain usually experiences
minimal pain, swelling, and little or no loss of functional ability. Bruising is absent
or slight, and the person is usually able to put weight on the affected joint. 2nd
Degree Sprain: A 2nd Degree sprain causes partial tearing of the ligament and is

The Role Of Death In Eschatology And Human Suffering
Death is the end of life and is a topic that is always hard to discuss and understand.
With the times evolving the topic at hand is not as difficult to approach, think, and or
talk about. According to John Meyer, This fascination with death in the
contemporary world is probably a healthy sign showing people s maturity in not
being afraid to face the fact and certainty of death(104). Universities have participated
in the topic as well to put that subject in the back of each young student s minds, and
letting them be able to face or understand death. The speech that I attended on
practical matters with the death and dying process ties with the subjects of

During the speech, the panel discussed how the more you talk about death the
easier it may become to face. In the Reese it states that, God has placed the power
of choice and determination in our hands, that individual has the choice for their
path. Additionally, the topic of human suffering. The critical nurse Mr. Kiersch
discussed the importance in family members asking questions about their loved one
s conditions. Life isn t always perfect and beautiful disasters happen and lives are
tragically changed or ended (Reese 128). Death is not perfect or beautiful, but
understanding the role in life it has. Reese States that, Christians come to realize they
live in a fallen, unfair world; one that either afflicts us with suffering or surprises us
with bountiful increase (128). Last subject I will be discussing is about morals and
ethics. The panel discussed the importance to discuss the What if type questions with
family. William Reese points out that moralityis, having choices, freedom, the
ability to make good decisions, and a desire to do what is right, every individual
wants to do the right thing and make the right choice for that family member passing.
In some situations, the family may not be prepared with those types of questions, and
will have to do what they think is morally right for that family member. William
Reese states that, for the Christian believer, what I

Analysis Of Delighting In The Trinity
Unlike other religions the Christian God is very distinct because He is a part of the
Trinity. The Trinity is defined as one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. According to author Michael Reeves, he explains in his book Delighting in
The Trinity how each person plays a huge role in the Godhead and yet all three are
one Godand not three single persons. The most foundational part of God is not
some abstract quality, but the fact that he is the Father. Again, and again, the
scriptures equate the terms God and Father. For instance, Isaiah prays, You are our
Father...you, O Lord, are our Father . The prophet Paul writes of one God, the
Father (1 Corinthians 1:13). In order to be a Father there must be a son, right? The
Bible explains how before time the Father loved His Son you (the father) loved me
(the son) before the creation of the world (Colossians 1:17). How exactly does the
Son and Father have this kind of relationship? The answer to this is the final part of
the Trinitywhich is the Holy Spirit. The way the Father makes known his love is
precisely through giving his Spirit to the son. In Romans 5:5, for instance, Paul
writes on how God pours His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. and hope does
not put us to shame, because God s love has been poured into our hearts through the
Holy Spirit who has been given to us . It is, then, through giving him the Spirit that
the Father declares his love for the son. Without the Spirit then it could not stir
Silent Spring Report
Rachel Carson s book, Silent Spring, challenged the way humans view the
relationship between the chemicals we use and its effects on nature. Rachel Carson
was able to paint a visual picture on how our world would look like if we continue to
use the harmful chemicals that we do now. This was important in showing the reader
the real dangers of the pesticides we use today. She explains the balance that needs to
be had throughout our Earth and how pesticides greatly affect that balance.
Throughout this book, Rachel Carsons main theme was to explain importance of life,
its effect on the environment, and how the human population can help preserve life
with the power of knowledge and action. With all of the knowledge we have now, she
instills in the reader that we must... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the solutions include: sterilization by radiation, the use of
chemosterilants, attractants, and even bursts of ultrasonic sound. All of these
solutions have a common ground. They are all biological solutions in which they
have been carefully researched (Carson 278). One biological solution was the
eradication of the screw worm fly. The screw worm larvae would act as a parasite
and feed on the flesh of its host (Carson 280). Livestock, which was often the host,
would become highly infested and die. This negatively affected the national toll of
wildlife per year. To keep livestock from dying off, Dr. Knipling sterilized the male
flies (Carson 279). He did this to later release them into the environment and
complete the normal wild males which would later cause only infertile eggs to be
produced, therefore eradicating the screw worm fly (Carson 279). This experimental
solution, among others offered an alternative from using pesticides. With all of these
biological solutions available, there should no reason for the continuation of

ultimately result in devastating consequences. Often times, one is encouraged to
follow the beliefs of others by changing their values and behaviors. Whether one truly

to influence our decisions. In the short story, Shooting an Elephant , written by

The story, written in first person, gives insight of the narrator s thought process. It
is well conveyed that Orwell is very unhappy with his current position and is
working for something he doesn t believe in, which allows his audience to feel
sympathetic to his current situation. His dilemma is clearly presented whether he
should shoot the elephant or not which provides a universal theme of a personal
battle, to choose what one believes is right, or whether to conform with society.
Ultimately, this provides an emotional connection between Orwell and the reader,
as they can relate to the feeling, which gives them a better understanding of the
story s main point. The shooting of the elephant itself also provokes an emotional
response from the audience, as Orwell employs the element of death in a powerful

elephant did not deserve to die, and the death itself is portrayed as devastating to
him.. (Orwell, 5). The remorseful tone in this ending sentence exposes to the
audience that just because something appears to be socially acceptable does not
mean in any way that it is right for us to do, in which this case, the guilt exposed to

Argumentative Essay On The Second World War
The Second World War As stated by Albert Einstein, As long as there are sovereign
nations possessing great power, war is inevitable. A German dictator s political
manipulations before the Second World War began secured him absolute power. The
invasion of Poland during the war, and the formation of the United Nations after the
war. World War II was essential for the historical events that occurred in that time.
Even before the war started, pain and suffering were already widespread. Adolf Hitler
s rise to power was a monumental moment in history. According to the book, The
Life and Death of Adolf Hitler, Hitler rose to power as the result of sordid intrigues,
gifts of money to wealthy industrialists, and because soldiers of Germanyterrorized
the population (Giblin 231). Years after Hitler secured power, the Nuremburg
Laws were set in place and this is iconic because this is how the Nazis
discriminated the Jewish people. According to the Holocaust Symposium, The
Nuremberg Laws excluded the Jewish from Reich citizenship and prohibited them
from having sexual relations with German people (Glied 3). This discrimination
escalated during Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, which was the largest
pre war hate attack on the Jewish. During Kristallnacht, synagogues, Jewish homes,
and Jewish businesses were attacked and plundered by the violent anti Jewish
pogroms throughout areas occupied by German troops (Glied 4). These variables
are what will eventually start World War II. John Steinbeck once said, All war is a
symptom of man s failure as a thinking animal. The invasion of Poland is
momentous because this action marked the start of World War II. According to
History.com: Germans invade Poland, Germany invaded Poland because Hitler
thought the conquest of Poland would bring lebensraum, meaning living space, for
the German people (History, par. 1). A few years after the start of the Second
World War, The Final Solution was implemented and it was an imperative event
since it is what lead to the Jewish people being killed by the Nazis. The Final
Solution involved the Jewish people being systematically murdered in killing centers
through mass deportation (Glied 6). On June 6, 1944, D Day occurred and it was

Violent Media Images and Video Games Results In Violent Behavior
Can violent media images and video games result in violent behavior? The answer
is yes. For a few decades now hundreds of researchers have take time to research the
relationship of media images and video games to violent behavior in children. In
the next few paragraphs I will discuss why media images and video games result in
violent behavior in children. This paper will also provide some important factors that
adults should know about media images and video game violence.
It has been researched that media images and video games can be harmful and
damaging to children s minds. Most children watch 21 23 hours of television per

I am a true believer that media and video game violence has a great affect on
children. There have been real life examples that depict violence acts due to media
images and video games. A great example of all of this would be the Columbine
High School, shooting. This act of violence occurred on April 20, 1999 when two
heavily armed boys walked into the Columbine High School in Colorado and shot to
death 12 of their fellow classmates and a teacher before they turn the violent act on
themselves. When the Columbine case was investigated, authorities came to find out
that the boys spent numerous of hours playing a video game called First Person
Shooter . Apparently the boys modified this video game to look like the layout of
Columbine High School, using copied yearbook pictures of fellow students as the
shooting target.
I am a strong believer that this video game had a powerful connection to the
Columbine shooters act of violence. I believe that the Columbine shooters were
brainwashed as they played First Person Shooter (video game). This realistic video
game encouraged the two shooters to take the violence to school just like they played
for numerous of hours.
Another perfect example of violent media images
The Effects Of Deep Breathing On Heart Rate And Blood...
The Effects of Deep Breathing on Heart Rate and Blood Pressure Intro: Research
has shown that deep breathing exercises can induce an increase in heart rate
(Sroufe 1971) because heart rate is also directly correlated with breathing (Egri
2012). When breathing in, heart rate will increase; and while breathing out, heart
rate will decrease (Egri 2012). Blood pressure can be reduced with slower
breathing (Joseph et al. 2005). An article in the Journal of Human Hypertension
showed that doing breathing exercises over a period of time can lower both
systolic and diastolic blood pressure (Grossman et al. 2001). The hypothesis in this
experiment is that blood pressure and heart rate will be affected by a deep
breathing exercise. The null hypothesis was that heart rate and blood pressure will
be unchanged while performing a deep breathing exercise. This experiment is
significant because it could help people in times of stress or anxiety/panic attacks
to learn ways to calm their heart rate and blood pressure down so they may feel
better. Being the most common mental illness in the United States and 18% of
Americans living with it, research aiding recovery of panic attacks would be
extremely useful to the public (Kessler et al. 2005). Materials and Methods: A
sphygmomanometer was used to measure the blood pressure and heart rate of the
subject. First, the basal heart rate and blood pressure for each subject was collected
by taking the mean of the data on the left arm from three
Streetcar Named Desire Naturalism
Naturalism was a literary period that was highlighted between 1880 and 1940.
Naturalists used to believe that nature was much more powerful than anything else
which humanity would never overturn its power. Naturalists would use lifestyles,
common characters, and plenty of personification associated with nature. Naturalists
studied characters through their relationships with each different characters and
nature alike. Taking an experimental stand on life, Naturalists were objective in life
and allowed the natural order of things to progress.
While not usually outlined as a realistic piece, some characteristics of Naturalism are
apparent in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire.
First, the play depicts lower class characters in ... Show more content on

Lastly, the ending of the play was made apparent through all that led up to that. Life
for Blanche and Stella was what it was. Regardless of how arduous either of them
tried, their lives were on a path that they would not be ready to deter from. Blanche s
mental instability could lead to nothing but her being institutionalized and Stella s
love for Stanley could lead to nothing but her staying with him.
Naturalism was initially began by French author Emile Zola. Zola cast the road for
alternative authors who wanted to tug away from the Romantic concepts of writing.
Romantics viewed life through rose colored glasses (meaning they forced the
sweetness of all things to the front). In essence, in their want to elevate nature and
also the fantastic thing about nature, Romantics would often alter the realities of life.
Naturalists, on the opposite hand, desired to point out life as it ultimately was (as an
extension of Realism). The authors would usually be figurative scientific observers,
stating solely what they observed in life while not manipulating

Meaning Of Life In Things Fall Apart
The meaning of life. An age old question which many consider the answer to be
unknowable. Yet, it is still the topic of century long discussions. Chinua Achebe
stated in a 1994 interview with Eleanor Wachtel, a Canadian broadcaster, that the
meaning of life, the purpose, was to struggle . So that s my sense of the meaning of
life. That s really how I would put it, that we struggle, and because we struggle, that
struggle has to be told, the story of that struggle has to be conveyed to another
generation. You have struggle and story, and these two are quite enough for me. This
is our life s purpose. To fight, and to survive.
In Achebe s novel Things Fall Apartthe protagonist Okonkwo tried everything in his
power to avoid becoming what his father was in his eyes: weak, cowardly, and
effeminate. Because of this strong desire to show his masculinity, he took actions that
resulted in exile from his village, ruining his reputation and agitating his ego. As
Okonkwo lives out his banishment in his motherland, he discovers Christian
missionaries have gone to his old village and have converted many, including his son
Nwoye. Okonkwo had always seen his son as weak, fearing that he took after his
grandfather. When Nwoye took a Christian name, Isaac, his father viewed it as the
ultimate betrayal, which shows the extent of his hubris. Okonkwo then was unable to
incite an uprising, realizing that the importance of tradition in his tribe had ... Show

The Plot Of The Classical Detective
Peter HГјhn, a professor of English Literature, defines detective fiction as, The plot
of the classical detective novel comprises two basically separate stories the story
of the crime (which consists of action) and the story of the investigation (which is
concerned with knowledge) (252). At its rudimentary level, Suki Kim s novel The
Interpreter follows a similar structure. She presents her protagonist, Suzy Park, as
the detective to find the knowledge, to her own personal mystery. Suzy is a twenty
nine year old Korean American woman who lives in New York City. She is
haunted by the murders of her parents; she was estranged from them for five years
before their passing. When Suzy has reason to believe that their murder was a
random shooting as was previously believed, she uses all the information that is
available to solve the crime. Suki Kim utilizes tone and a nonlinear narrative
structure to parallel Suzy s confused mental state in The Interpreter. Because Suzy
struggles to understand where she fits between both her American and Korean
cultures, she must search to find her own identity and simultaneously search for the
answers to her parent s unsolved murder. Kim thus allows for her detective novel to
have another dimension: in addition to investigating the crime, Suzy must investigate
who she is as a human being. Suzy Park was originally born in Korea and moved to
the United States at the age of five. Thus, she feels stuck between two cultures. She

Justifying Reproductive Cloning For Logistical Motives
Essay
Justifying Reproductive Cloning for Logistical Motives
In this age of technology and innovation, what was once science fiction is now
becoming a reality. Human reproductive cloning is on the forefront for providing
prospective parents with a new mode of reproduction. However, with the concept of
reproductive cloning comes an unprecedented set of ethical issues. Issues
especially focused on how cloning may affect the child s right to an open future
are highlighted by philosophers such as Dena Davis. Davis takes a neutral stance
on reproductive cloning and argues that it is morally impermissible when used for
duplicative motives, but permissible when used for logistical motives. Duplicative
motives are when the genetic replication itself... is the attraction (Davis 160) and
the parents wish for their child to be a mere copy of their donor. Logistical
motivations are when the parents end goal is simply to have a child that is
genetically related (Davis 159). Davis leaves the evaluation of such parental motives
in the hands of healthcare professionals. Philosophers McGee and Wilmut add to
Davis position, but call for a more holistic evaluation of parental motives and
competency by following an adoption model. In this paper, I will support Davis
argument on the moral permissibility of reproductive cloning under logistical
motivations by addressing the main concerns that surround reproductive cloning.
First, I shall reconstruct Davis argument in favor of reproductive cloning

Disadvantages Of Rapid Technology Change
Rapid technology change has been destroying jobs faster than creating them.
Technology is reducing the demand for many type of human worker, and this would
span mass of unemployment. (How Technology is destroying jobs, 2017.)
Technology change Is so rapid that many jobs would become absolute. The United
States is one of the country with the most advance technology. Innovation of
technology brings some benefit to the economy but also some disadvantage like
unemployment, thus factory is looking for opportunity to replace employee with
robots this could make the job safe, easy, and more productive, but it would reduce
worker demand. Therefore, Innovation of technology is affecting negatively the
employment rate. In the United States fewer people work in factory today, they
have machines that work automatedly and do the job of the workers. Retails
company like Amazon have machines that carries the product from one warehouse
to another and delivered to worker to pack the product. With this process the work is
faster because the machine can take large amount of product. This machine can
storage product and organize them, picking up object and moving them to the right
place thus this work is done with the help of a worker that manage the machine.
These machines are created to enhance worker productivity. For example, the work
that couple of employee could do with their hands, now it can be done by a machine
with the help of one worker. Computer innovation have change the way
Literary Analysis Of Birches By Robert Frost
While I believe that the poem Birches by Robert Frost is about what he sees with
mother nature, I also believe that Robert Frost meant more in Birches than what
comes to the surface by his writing. I think that the poem birches is about his
childhood, his children, death, and the similarities between them in his personal life.
This can be proven by many between the lines reading, and articles of information
about Robert Frost, his childhood, his children and what they were like, and how his
poetry wrapped up into it.
To start off with, Robert Frost had a death experience starting from very early in
his childhood. His father had died when he was only at the age of 11, forcing him,
his sister, and his mother to move. With his father deceased and only having his
mother, this had forced him to grow up quickly to try to make living a little easier
for the three of them. I believe that this could have been one of many reflections in
his poem. The boy seining from the birch tree could have been him in his younger
years when things were better, and his in his later years recalling the easiness of
life, and the innocence of it all. This could also be shown in the poem by talking
about the weather , like when he writes swinging doesn t bend them down to stay As
ice storms do. Often you must have seen them Loaded with ice a sunny winter
morning After a rain. . This is also shown in addition to, with one of my resources
Robert Frost: A Life by Jay Parini, in chapters one through three.
Likewise to Robert Frost s childhood, he suffered death with his children.
According to the Frost Place Organization, out of the six children Robert Frost and
his wife had only 2 had outlived their father. On September 12, 1896 their first son,
Elliot Frost was born, who later died on July 8, 1900 from cholera. Second born
child, a daughter, Lesley was born on April 28, 1899 who died July 9, 1983 from
natural causes. Third born child, a son, Carol who was born May 27,1902 who later
tragically died in 1940 due to mental illness that later leaded to suicide. Fourth born,
Irma, a daughter was born on June 27, 1903 and suffered from mental illness, then
later died in 1967 from unstated reasons. Fifth child Marjorie, a daughter,
Essay On 3d Density
The most important goal in gravity interpretation is producing a 3D and clear image
of anomaly resources. One versatile theory for achieving this picture is 3D density
contrast distribution from gravity data. However, we face to uniqueness for solving
these inversion problems. For resolving this issue, an interpreter has to decrees the
geometry resolution of an anomaly.
For example, using the Tikhonov regularization (Tikhonov and Arsenian, 1977) has
led to the unique and stable solution, but regardless of producing blur image of an
anomaly, this method is focused on mass varying on the boundary of interpretation
region and does not consider the actual depth of anomaly.
Also, a compact inversion method was presented by Last and ... Show more content

By this way, Ardestani and Nejati (2011) achieve better image for the 3 D density
contrast distribution.
In this paper, to clarify the anomaly, we improve the precision of inversion result, in
minimum inertia; in Ardestani and Nejati (2011) algorithm by
In order to avoid nonuniqueness in inversion, they add some constraints such as
geometrical properties and prior density contrast which are provided by geological
information of the studied region. But, in some areas with complicated geology, it is
difficult to trust this information and sometimes may lead to losing the inversion.
To overcomes these possible problems, we use a linear multiple regression on
different models of improved circular cylinder (Su et al., 2012) to provide prior
information in Ardestani and Nejati (2011) algorithm. Our inversion algorithm is less
dependent on geological information and more flexible with prior information.
In the following, we define the outline of this paper. In section 2, we explain about
the method for constructing the gravity anomaly by using a grid of 3 D rectangular
prisms. In section 3, the Lewi inversion algorithm is discussed, also it is extended
with the minimum momentum inertia. In section 4, we introduced the linear inversion
based on the inclined cylinder for providing our prior information. In section 5, the
synthetic examples are used to illustrate the results of our inversion procedure. In
section 6, this method is applied to the mining deposits
Drugs And The War On Drugs
Studies are in and the war on drugs was a massive failure.
This war on drugs was useless because they expected that shunning addicts would
diminish drug use.
The problem is, the stigmatization of addiction causes much more negative than
positive effects in our society.
It is harder to get back into society: get a job and is pushing people away from
admitting they have a substance abuse problem and seeking treatment.
The government made a counter intuitive system for fighting drugs and it is causing
serious harm to our culture.
One of these effects is that,
Nowadays, if someone heard someone else used to do drugs they label you as a
second class citizen which makes it much harder to get a job and merge into society.
When people hear someone did drugs or is doing drugs they have an immediate
prejudice against them. They are labelled a criminal, a scourge to society and are
treated like a second class citizen. It is much harder to get and keep a job. Joining
back into society is much harder because many people don t want to be associated
with others shown in such a poor light.
It is much harder to get a job if you have a previous addiction and especially if you
have a criminal record because of that addiction. Many employers do not want to
associate with possible legal liabilities because no employer would want someone
doing their job under the influence and because of the previous addiction, they would
deem previous drug user more likely to show up under the influence.

of what is now Chase bank.
Through business and life, Mr. Griffin learned that there will always be setbacks
and failures, but there is always a way out. He said over and over again that
honesty was the only way to do life and business, and there was no excuse for any
other behavior. He also discussed two types of plans, strategic and operational plans,
that must be in writing and that a company must have to succeed. While telling us a

Overall, Mr. Griffin was a delightful man who seemed truly good to his core. He

Today s Violence and Its Many Causes
Violence in today s society is at an all time high. There are many causes for the
increase in violence in our society. Violence is defined by (1) criminal law, the
illegal use of unjustified force, or the intimidating effect created by the threat of this
(2) the use of physical force to injure somebody or damage something (Encarta

the 1950s, thousands of studies have been done on the effects of violence in

Ghosts And Spirits By Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Unfinished Business:
Ghosts and Spirits
The average person may think of ghosts and spirits as something disguised in a
white sheet with holes for eyes, a ragged figure dragging chains and moaning. In
addition, something floating through the air and that can enter and exit rooms
without the need to open doors. This is an example of the way ghosts and spirits
are usually described in stories or depicted in movies. It has been said that ghosts
and spirits are souls that cannot pass into the next world or dimension once they
have died on earth. Although, truth be told that all ghosts and spirits have a purpose
to be able to travel through two different worlds, life and afterlife. Ghosts and spirits

It is also not uncommon to meet former family at the time of death that delivers help
to the afterlife. All of these guides will normally always create a successful transition
in and out of the world. Pursuing this further, Elisabeth Kubler Ross describes that it
is important to know that every single human being, from the moment of birth until
the moment when they make the transition and end this physical existence, is in the
presence of guides or guardian angels that will give you aid to the transition from
life after death . Basically, the psychopomp is another way to help the spirits get

Angels, Guardian angels and spirit guides are really the good type of ghosts,
althoughthey fit more in the description of a spirit. In the Hebrew Bible and the New
Testament, angels are known as God s messengers. Common Knowledge of angels
also knows that they are sent by God to watch over the human race, to guard and
protect from danger, as well as to give humans signs to excel in life. Statistics have
shown that many people believe in angels. According to a poll of American adults
96% believe in God, 90% believe in
The Theory Of Liberal Ideology
Political Science Midterm I will be speaking on important political terms, explain
the development of liberal ideology in the United States of America, and touch on
a few other areas of political culture. First off liberalism; liberalism is a way of
political worldview by the ideas of liberty and equality. Although in a certain time
in our history equality was somewhat of a lie. Slavery, racism, and feminism prove
that not every single person on the planet had equal rights. In the 1650 s to 1780 s
western Europe had people that were thinking of ways to enlighten the people and
bring change to the world they all live in, called the Age of Enlightenment. Mostly
philosophers emphasized reason, analysis, and individualism. People like... Show

There are liberal liberals, conservative liberals, and radical liberals. Which mostly all
follow the basic structure of liberalism. For example liberal liberals believe that for
social safety people need help to feed their families and take care of themselves
because not everyone can make it in this world and put food in peoples mouths,
afford medical insurance, civilized people try to help each other, not leave them
starving and without care. On the conservative side, there views are that people
should be responsible for themselves, if they are given the chance they are
completely capable of supporting themselves and their families. They also believe
that if government always picks up and pampers the poor or needy, they will be
weak and lose their motivation to work. For money, taxes, and the part that the
government plays; the conservatives believe that government should serve the
people. Not the other way around. The liberals say that the proper function of a
government is to solve issues, decrease poverty, protect civil rights and liberties. And
to make sure that all Americans have a fair chance to succeed.
The dimensions of the ideology of liberalism are political and economic liberalism.
Political liberalism underlines the social contract. Where citizens can make laws and
agree to follow those laws. Most people believe that individuals know what is best
for them. Also it allows people to represent themselves without the need to worry
Zirren The Prince
We all have to let go of the Prince Charming complex and realize he doesn t
necessarily exist in the package we assume he ll come in. Gabriella Union
I remember the first time I saw him. No it wasn t love at first sight, and no my
heart didn t skip a beat. I felt none of those clichГ© feelings that fairytales make us
believe we are supposed to feel when we see our Prince. Over time as I got to know
him, he became so much more to me then a friend. He became my shoulder to lean
on in times of stress. He became my best friend and my biggest supporter. Zirren my

No matter what I did he was something like my personal sideline cheerleader. I
remember when I told him I wanted to lose weight he was right there by my side.
At our old high school whenever we didn t have band practice or he didn t have
baseball practice he would come with me to the little gym. He was there
motivating and pushing me whenever I felt like it was too much. He would tell
him how proud he was of my progress. Even now in college we both go to different
schools, but he s still supporting me from a distance. Whenever I m in the rec center
working out I can hear his voice in my head saying, You got this Babygirl! If
anything it pushes me more and makes me want to work harder. Zirren has always
supported me from an academic point of view as well. We pretty much had all our
main classes together so whenever there was something I didn t understand he
would explain it to me. He was my own little tutor. When we were graduating I was
named Valedictorian. So I had to write my Valedictorian Speech. I had no help, no
guidlunes to go by, nobody to assist me in the revising and editing of it. Zirren
stepped in and did all of that for me. Because Of him I was able to deliver I
wonderful speech. I don t think he ll ever understand how much his support and
love has means to me. He has helped me realize the kind of woman I want to be for
myself and for him. I could never thank him enough
Controversia Uber Case
A striking decision by the California Labor Commissioner s Office (Commissioner)
in June regarding the classification of a driver for the popular ride service, Uber,
could have profound effects on the status of workers in non traditional
employment situations. This result follows other similar demands for employee
reclassification, including a class action suit by Yelp review writers asserting that
they are actually unpaid employees who are legally entitled to compensation and
benefits for their writing services. While the decision to classify a San Francisco
based Uber driver as an employee would not normally garner substantial interest
after all, the ruling only affects a single driver, and even if Uber loses an appeal, the
decision would apply just to California Uber workers the conclusion of the
Commissioner underscores a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an employee, Uber must reimburse the driver for expenses and interest incurred
during the time she worked for Uber, amounting to $4152.20. (The Commissioner
declined to award her unpaid wages or overtime.) The courts found that Uber
retained sufficient control over the details of the driver s employment to negate the
presumption that the driver was an independent contractor. Similarly, plaintiffs in the
Yelp litigation allege that they were treated like employees in several respects,
including exposure to penalties for negative reviews of sponsors, being subject to
close scrutiny by Yelp and working under strict termination guidelines. The status of
Yelp plaintiffs, however, differ in that they are not hired by Yelp and offer services

Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells a shocking story of a female
prisoner held by Nazis in a concentration camp around the time of the Holocaust.
The poem is set in 1940, Hitler and his Nazi party had taken control of most of
Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire Jewish race.
Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable
and its very strong opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first
meaning is that the word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David.
Jewish people were forced to wear them on their clothes to mark them out as targets
of abuse and torment for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are
part of a mass slaughtering which seems hard to believe that that is humanly possible.
Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second
stanzas. This technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters
/ upright as statues and carry the impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how
the women are stood firm and even in the most humiliating, de humanised state.
You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for
her friend as they are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and
looking out for her friend shows the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The
following single word line, Fell is a euphemism for the death of the woman and
gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like a literary bullet which is
literally the object which killed her.
Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad
. She gives the word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should
not forget what happened there. Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity
stays in our memory, we can avoid any other mass, human caused disaster to reoccur.
Enjambment is once again used to link stanzas two and three. One saw I was alive.

A Short Note On The Air Leak Syndrome
Introduction
Air Leak Syndrome is a term used to describe a collection of similar pathologies
related to air being in pulmonary, pleural and interstitial spaces. The most common
cause of air leak syndrome in neonates is inadequate mechanical ventilation of their
delicate lungs. The incidence of air leaks in newborns is inversely related to the birth
weight of the infants, especially in infants suffering from respiratory distress
syndrome and meconium aspiration (Walsh, 2015). Chest tube drainage and/or
needle aspiration are necessary in managing pneumopericardium with cardiac
tamponade or tension pneumothorax.
To prevent air leak syndrome, gentle ventilation with low pressure, low tidal volume,
low inspiratory time, high rate, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For pneumothorax, the incidence from 1990 2002 was 13% in babies weighing
1000 grams are at high risk the first day or two after birth. Babies with pulmonary
hypoplasia, meconium aspiration syndrome, and respiratory distress syndrome are
also at higher risk. Use of NIV/CPAP also increases the risk. An article in the
Pediatrics journal cited three cases where children of various ages developed various
air leaks from the use of high flow nasal cannula (HHNC) therapy. The author cited
the urgent need to conduct more studies on HHNC and that it should not be used for
providing positive distending pressure. Set flows should not exceed the patient s
minute ventilation (Hegde, 2013).
Prevention
Sadly, it should be understood that most of pulmonary air leaks are iatrogenic.
Healthcare workers should not be overly aggressive when doing CPR and using the
bag mask. Infants lungs are fragile and cannot handle being over ventilated. When
using mechanical ventilation, use low pressures low tidal volumes and high respiratory
rates. Risk of pneumothorax and pulmonary interstitial emphysema can be reduced by
using surfactant.
Pathophysiology
Air leaks are a result of overdistention of the lungs and can cause uneven alveolar
ventilation and air trapping. Increased pressures can rupture alveoli or other tissues,
allowing air to escape into the interstitial spaces. This air can then travel through
perivascular adventitia, causing pulmonary interstitial emphysema. If the air
Olaudah Equiano And The Abolitionist Movement
One example of a black individual who was a significant influence on the
abolitionist movement was Olaudah Equiano (also known as Gustavus Vassa) a
freed slave that spoke about his terrifying life story which helped contribute towards
the end of the slave trade. Equiano was born in 1736 and bought his freedom as a
slave in 1767. Equiano began his involvement in the abolitionist movement in the
1780 s when he published his best selling book The Interesting Narrative of the Life
of Olaudah Equianoor Gustavus Vassa, the African in 1789. At the time, many
Britons thought Africans were illiterate but Equiano proved them wrong as he could
wield the English language well and learnt several skills whilst still a slave.
Furthermore, his book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Douglass was introduced to the movement in 1841 when a man named William
Coffin heard one of his speeches at an anti slavery meeting and was so impressed
with his oratorical skills that Coffin invited him to share his story as a slave in a
convention organised by the Massachusetts Anti Slavery Society (MAS). This
therefore supports my previous discussion that black people could contribute to
society and live normal lives without white people diminishing their human rights and
privileges and making them slaves.
Douglass got his passion to promote freedom for all slaves after he escaped from
slavery and ultimately had an end goal to abolish slavery in all its forms and
aspects, and promote the moral and intellectual improvement of the coloured people
and hasten the day of freedom to the three million of enslaved fellow countrymen .
He also wrote several autobiographies describing his experiences as a slave. One of
the autobiographies in particular, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an
American Slave published in 1845 was a best selling and was extremely influential
for promoting the cause of abolition. The narrative shows a compelling argument to
basic human rights thus making it extremely influential as the narrative clearly
possesses features and linguistic skills, which for most white people, negated their
common perception of black people being illiterate in the 19th century.
Black people s contribution
Plea Bargaining Process
Plea bargaining is a series of actions that result to an understanding between the
prosecutor and the defendant in connection to a particular case. It will require
approval by the court. The process typically results to a change in the plea of the
defendant or the accused to a crime that has a lighter consequence. The defendant or
accused may also plead guilty to the original crimein exchange for lesser charges of
the original crime. Plea bargaining basically aims to lessen the sentence that the
accused will face for the crime in the event that the charges are proven in court.
The plea bargain process is normally done prior to the start of the trial itself.
However, there are some instances when plea bargaining can be carried out any ...

The process minimizes potential problems from emerging. For instance, a
prolonged trial process may increase the possibility of crucial testimony not to be
entered as evidence if the witnesses are old people since there is a possibility that
the witnesses will die before they testify. This will have a serious effect on the
verdict given by the judge.
6. Both the defendant and the prosecutor will benefit from a plea bargain since it
helps avoid severe sentencing or acquittal respectively.
7. It will not be necessary for the victim to wait for a long time before the defendant
is sentenced by the judge.
In addition to the advantages listed above, there are other considerations that can
confirm the suitability of using plea bargaining in the trial process.
The first consideration is to provide an incentive to defendants who acknowledge
their wrongdoing. The jurist plea bargaining process will encourage defendants to be
responsible for their actions and send them to a rehabilitation center that expedites
their rehabilitation at a shorter period of time.
The second consideration is that plea bargaining provides a venue to resolve issues
between the defendant and the prosecutor. If their issues are not suitably resolved,
they will go through the entire trial court
The Health Care Providers Didn t Understand The Lee s...
The health care providers didn t understand the Lee s culture. The doctors never took
the time to understand the Hmong culture and instead assumed that their practices
may have been what was negatively affecting Lia s recovery. According to Fadiman
(2003), in the hospital they would call the shaman witch doctoring (p. 35). Many
times the Lees wouldn t understand the instructions of the doctors and I believe this
also impacted the way that they thought of medicine. The doctors loved Lia and so
did her parents, but they just had different ways of thinking. The Lees thought that
sickness comes from the soul, and the doctors believed that there was a physiological
cause for the sickness. The doctors were not open minded about the Lee s... Show

I think the main point in this story is not to give up, but instead to be patient and
have the courage to fight back.
According to the Hmong culture a shaman helps to cure the soul. A doctor cures
physiological problems. As we learn throughout this class there is a difference
between an illness and a disease. An illness or a disease may have the absence of
the other. In most cases an illness can be present without a disease. In the case of
Lia there was a presence of both illness and disease. If txiv neeb and the American
doctor would have balanced their practices and learned from each other, this
would have positively affected the way the Lees thought about modern medicine. I
believe that faith plays an important role in Lia s case, and if the doctors would
have understood the way that txiv neeb thought and vice versa, the Lees would
have trusted American doctors and medicine more. Learning from txiv neeb would
have also helped the American doctors in Lia s case and in other cases when
treating Hmong patients by understanding their culture. It is important for the
doctors to understand the Hmong culture and specifically the way that a txiv neeb
works because in Merced a third of the population were Hmong and used a tixv
neeb as their main source of healing. A txiv neeb takes the time to be with a patient
while a doctor would only spend 15 minutes with them. A txiv neeb could have learn

The guitar solo provided more emotional support to the lyrics of the song. It wasn t
loud and it wasn t soft. It was right in the middle. The song had a medium tempo
and the dynamic of the song is soft to high and then back to soft. Because of the
soothing and soft to high dynamic of the song with the guitar producing the
support, you feel the emotions the song is trying to provide. Most of the lyrics are
repeated in song and the main vocalist said this line ( I don t want to leave her now.
You know I believe and how ) throughout the song, which is the main idea behind
the song. The main idea the song is trying to portray is how there s something
special in the person he loves and he can t let her go. He said Attracts me like no
other lover and That I don t need no other lover which means the girl he loves is
irreplaceable. The lyrics of this song are relatable to everyone because it s about

Essay The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany
The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany August 4th 1914 marks the date on
which Europe fell into what has become known as the Great War . What started as
a minor squabble between Austria Hungary and Serbia, in the space of six weeks,
escalated into total war between Europe s biggest powers. Almost one hundred
years later we are no closer to answering the question of who or what was to blame
for it s outbreak. It is easy to assume that Germany were solely to blame, however this
assumption would be incorrect. Germany did, at times have an overbearing influence,
and with many factors, the underlying fault lies with Germany. However, influence of
other nations, states and individuals were also... Show more content on

This economic stability allowed the military to grow and colonise. Germany
looked for colonies in Africa, which antagonised the French and the British who
had had colonies there for years. Their relatively unsuccessful search led to
concentration on Europe. Chancellor Bulow said without a strong army and navy,
there can be no welfare for us . Bismarck provided Germany with a strong position
in Europe by allying with Austria Hungary in 1879, which encouraged military
expansion. In the early 1900 s, Germany s military expanded to greatly and
demonstrates their aggressive nature. The German army and navy could be seen as a
means of defence, but whatever the function of the system, it was intimidating to say
the least. The subsequent arms race was as a direct result of German expansion and
created European tension. Their army increased to be just 100,000 less than that of
the Russian army, and their navy expanded ten fold, which in turn made the British
navy increase (it was British policy to have a navy larger than the second and third
largest navies in Europe put together). French expenditure on defence doubled and
Russia, Austria Hungary and Italy all increased their armaments. Without the arms
race, which Germany sparked, there would simply not have been the equipment for a
war to take
Tumor Busting Virus Essay
Reading an article and learning about tumor busting viruses is very compelling, to
say the least. Since it seems almost everyone has endured the pain of cancer or has a
loved one who has been diagnosed with some form of cancer, it is refreshing to see
that researchers and scientists are coming together to find fresh techniques to help
heal this tragic illness.
This new remedy that scientists are experimenting with is called virotherapy.
Virotherapy was defined in the article as viruses that have been genetically
engineered to find and kill cancer cells while leaving healthy cells untouched. A
treatment such as this has been a favorable one considering how the traditional cancer
chemotherapies have been known to not only attack cancer ... Show more content on

Because all people, roughly, have been exposed to adenovirus, humans hold
antibodies from the immune system to attack and kill the virus. Therefore, using
adenoviruses in cancer virotherapy may result in some symptoms that seem like
indicators of the flu. This is because the immune system has been trained to respond
to the virus by attacking it and eliminating it from the body, which will also stamp
out the therapy. Researchers have been attempting to fight the side effects by giving
immunosuppressive drugs while the patient is on the virotherapy as well as altering
the adenoviruses so that the immune system will not respond to the virus. To create
the best version of virotherapy, scientists are discovering two ways to be confident
the viruses hit target cells with no other harm to other cells. One strategy virotherapy
researchers are exploring is called transductional targeting. With this form of targeting
cancer cells, researchers are modifying the viruses used so they are only attracted to
only cancerous cells to contaminate them. To prevent the viruses from entering
normal cells, transductional targeting works by binding adapter molecules onto the
antibodies, proteins on the outside of virus, or tweaking the antibodies so that they
will not allow viruses to enter normal cells and rather let them gain up on tumor cells.
The second strategy discussed in the article is named transcriptional targeting. The
goal of this form of targeting is to modify the viruses
Evaluation Essay On Self Evaluation
Self Evaluation CENS 303A is my third distance online course at University of British
Columbia. It allowed me to learn about the history of the Holocaust, which is an
event that I am not particularly familiar. Even though we might not talk about this
topic often, it s still something that we must never forget. Not only did this course
educate me about the timeline, historical figures involved but it also helped me
understand the realm of darkness in Auschwitz concentration camps. It is true that an
outsider might not understand how little value was placed on human life in those
concentration camps. Through reading Holocaust survivors memoirs however,
readers can get insights on the reverence for life and recognize how human life was
exterminated. The camp resembles a living laboratory. The victims lived in virtual
darkness and expelled from the world. They were isolated,... Show more content on

I went over texts that I found particularly interesting. Often times, subsequent
readings can help take on different levels of focus such as noticing the author s
tone, details, and intellectual thoughts. My favorite reading is Kluger s memoir
because she had challenged my sympathies towards Holocaust survivors. A clerk
saved her from gas chambers by lying to a SS guard. When I was wondering about
the clerk s motive, Kluger s barbed line, What more do you need for an example of
perfect goodness? really caught me in a surprise. Next, the self check questions
after every module are extremely helpful for preparing the midterm exam. When I
failed to recall specific dates or names, the explanations from the self check
questions were excellent sources for making references. As of the web essay, I
found it difficult because it forced me to revisit previous readings to look for the
specific facts. I think it would be more helpful if I took more time to discuss the
topic with my peers on the

  • 2. Time Perception Relation With Age Yosef Eldumiate Period: 6 Research: Time perception relation with age Time always seems to change. 10 minutes in the dentist s waiting room could fell like an hour and 10 minutes with friends and family could fell much less than it is. How we interpret time in most cases or not the same. The way we feel and age differentiations express how we view time. Time seems to wheeze quicker and quicker as age develops. Obviously age doesn t give people the ability to change the speed of time. Psychologist William James marked the reason why humanity perceives time differently is because we continue to gain less and less experiences. Experiences such as memorable actions and the first time doing something (first time skiing, first time working, first kiss, etc.) as we start to lack new memorable actions the days and weeks [to] smooth themselves out...and the years grow hollow and collapse. When you go to school at the first day it feels like a long time for you to get their but the more you take that route to school there is nothing new happening, and your mind does not memorize the instances you are in. Other scientists such as Wallach and Green studied the way time is interpreted they asked young adults (ages 18 20) how they feel time are like, most answered with stationary motions like motionless and quiet . The other group (most around the age 78) described time as rapid, fast, and swift time is a speeding train . Other research furthermore added to the building
  • 3. The War Of The Union And Confederate Side During The Civil... One of the few newspapers to act like Switzerland received a huge amount of backlash for doing so. The Republican paper did not succumb to the Union or confederate side and instead advocated for both sides, since the two editors of the paper had different views, but the public was not pleased with this decision. The general public deemed it weakness and a sign of duplicity to publish articles advocating both sides of the issue and dubbed the paper the swill tub (Sachsman, 2014, p. 53). A Virginia paper tried this tactic as well, to no avail. The attempt, however, on the part of any opposition paper to be simultaneously a Union journal and a Southern journal was becoming illogical if not well neigh impossible (Cappon, 1936, p.14). This explains why the majority took a side during the civil war, as no newspaper wanted to loose the core of their audience due to not taking sides. It is important to note that not all of the papers in this era were propagandist. The Enquirer was able to omit their opinions and write objectively about the war. Wise and his successors objectively reported the news rather than venting their dissatisfaction with Confederate s conduct of the war (Davis Robertson, 2009, p. 37). This should have been how all the papers of this era reported the war yet a backlash amongst the public contributed to a public outcry, which can be detrimental to a newspapers survival. The U.S. government and Confederates were susceptible to using propaganda to sway
  • 4. The Impact Of Hydroelectricity Production On Its Future Trend Abstract This report outlines the present situation of hydroelectricity production in China and speculates on its future trend. By analysing three sets of data, it investigates the reasons for the significant development of hydroelectricity in China and provides comparisons between different countries and different kinds of fuel. It concludes by looking at the support offered by the government and the major reason behind this. It also suggests that the generation of hydroelectricity in China will keep growing and will relieve the air pollution issue. Introduction With the high speed economic development and the incredible growth in human population around the world, electricity demand has increased rapidly (Zarfl et al., 2015). As a fast growing country with the largest population in the world, the electricity generation in China nearly doubled between 2005 and 2011 (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2014). In order to narrow the gap between electricity generation and consumption and, on the other hand, alleviate the environment problems mainly caused by fossil fuel, China has encouraged more investment in renewable energy (Ibid). Hydroelectricity has become the most important renewable resource as China has a large amount of hydroelectric power potential (Ibid). The word hydroelectric relates to the generation of electricity using flowing water to drive a turbine which powers a generator (Oxford Dictionaries online, 2015). Electricity produced by using

  • 6. The Safety Of Nascar Great Dale Earnhardt NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the United States. It is also one of the more dangerous sports. Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as fourth generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly when they collided with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose many new safety features such as the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier and the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device. But even with all of these safety improvements there still have been drivers injured in crashes. So what can NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their drivers? Actually there is a lot that NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what we have anticipated. After Kyle Busch broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015. NASCAR talked about increasing the amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track. Instead of having the SAFER barrier in only the corners of the tracks NASCAR has started to talk about putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track. Also they have considered getting rid of the grass around the track simply because when drivers are sliding and
  • 7. How Women Are Treated in India In many parts of the world females still have very little rights. Indeed, equality between men and women have been accepted by the majority of the developed countries, but developing countries still struggle to see women as equals to men, and India is one of the worst. Currently, the Indian National Congress Party is only 10% female, limiting the say women get. In India, women are definitely not seen as equals to men are being treated like second rate citizens. It also really says something about the inequality in a country when its women are so used to being treated badly most of them do not even recognize that they have rights. In India, men were always valued more than women, which is why an estimated ten million female foetuses are aborted every year. The lack of females in areas leads to crimes like human trafficking for sexual reasons like giving birth to more children. Old traditions and beliefs are the main reasons to why millions of female foetuses are aborted every year, but it is also the reason behind bride burning, another serious issue in India. Bride burning, also known as dowry death occurs quite frequently in India. It is when the husband or the in laws decide that the dowry the bride offers is not enough and demands more. If the bride refuses or is financially not able to increase her dowry, she is tortured until she either agrees or dies; otherwise she is murdered by her family . The husbands and the in laws usually disguise the deaths as accidents or
  • 8. The National Alliance For End Homelessness Essay One of the simplest pieces of knowledge we acquire in elementary school (for future growth and development) are the three basic needs a living organism requires for living: food, water, and shelter. However, not everyone has access to all of these essentials. Homeless people are faced with awful conditions and suffer more due to poor weather conditions, diseases, and lack of safety. There hasn t been much progress on this issue, and if this continues, the number of homeless people will only increase. In a few states the topic is being named as a statewide emergency , but unfortunately this problem is national. Instead of focusing on state programs, local programs and non profit organizations to fix the housing issue, we must all contribute to ending this epidemic. The National Alliance to End Homelessness(NAEH) released an article stating, In January 2015, 564,708 people were homeless on a given night in the United States (Snapshot of Homelessness). We must develop a solution to end long term homelessness immediately. The best way of solving this issue is to provide stable long term housing, which is a term used to describe the home s environment and financial status. The most logical solution for homelessness is a project known as Housing First. The Housing First program was first launched by Tanya Tull, an individual with first hand experience of poverty and advocate for homelessness, due to an increasing number of homeless people in the 1990s. Unfortunately, the

Allowing a students to take turns between being the teacher and the learner, will achieve benefit from explaining their own personal understanding of the material to another, and from hearing the same material from the others understanding or viewpoint. In this model, students spend time summarizing information, assessing the work or ideas of a peer, and explaining rationales. • 12. The Importance Of Fallacy In Advertising Have you ever watched a commercial and thought it was full of complete lies? In today s advertising world, most commercials are misleading and full of fallacy. The goal of the advertiser isn t to be ethical, but to sell the product they are advertising. Some commercials will go great lengths to make sure the viewers are interested in their product. Almost all of today s advertisements are edited, and tend to have high production values. Advertisements also play a huge role in society by showing the public what is new, and what the next big thing is. The 2017 Toyota Mirai Super Bowl commercial contains multiple cases of fallacy, such as emotional appeal, either/or reasoning, and oversimplification, and uses such to manipulate viewers into buying their product. This strategy is unethical and is targeted at the strivers and the experiencers, as described in What We Are to Advertisers by James B. Twitchell. The commercial starts with a lone daisy growing between a crack in the asphalt. Slow, dramatic piano music starts to play. The camera starts to pan in towards the lone daisy, just as a car rushes past, and stops momentarily with its muffler pointed directly at it. Quickly, the car takes off, leaving the lone daisy in a thick, black cloud of exhaust. Violins play a dramatic flare as the daisy slowly shrivels up and wilts. The camera fades back in darkness with a spotlight shining on the wilted daisy. Suddenly, the music changes to a happier tone. Over the horizon comes a

A sprain typically occurs when people fall and land on an outstretched arm, slide into base, land on the side of their foot, or twist a knee with the foot planted firmly on the ground. This can result in an over stretch or tear of the ligaments supporting that joint. Common type of sprains would be in the ankle and in the wrist. The ankle is one of the most common injuries in professional and recreational sports and activities. Most ankle sprains happen when the foot abruptly turns inward or outward as an athlete runs, turns, falls, or lands after a jump. One or more of the lateral ligaments can be injured if this occurs. Wrists are often sprained after a fall in which the athlete lands on an outstretched hand. The usual signs and symptoms of a muscle sprain include pain, swelling, bruising, and the loss of functional ability. Sometimes people feel a pop or tear when the injury happens. However, these signs and symptoms can vary in intensity, depending on the severity of the sprain. 1st Degree Sprain: A 1st Degree sprain causes overstretching or slight tearing of the ligaments with no joint instability. The Trinity is defined as one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. According to author Michael Reeves, he explains in his book Delighting in The Trinity how each person plays a huge role in the Godhead and yet all three are one Godand not three single persons. The most foundational part of God is not some abstract quality, but the fact that he is the Father. Again, and again, the scriptures equate the terms God and Father. For instance, Isaiah prays, You are our Father...you, O Lord, are our Father . The prophet Paul writes of one God, the Father (1 Corinthians 1:13). In order to be a Father there must be a son, right? The Bible explains how before time the Father loved His Son you (the father) loved me (the son) before the creation of the world (Colossians 1:17). How exactly does the Son and Father have this kind of relationship? The answer to this is the final part of the Trinitywhich is the Holy Spirit. The way the Father makes known his love is precisely through giving his Spirit to the son. In Romans 5:5, for instance, Paul writes on how God pours His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. and hope does not put us to shame, because God s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us . It is, then, through giving him the Spirit that the Father declares his love for the son. Without the Spirit then it could not stir

A German dictator s political manipulations before the Second World War began secured him absolute power. The invasion of Poland during the war, and the formation of the United Nations after the war. World War II was essential for the historical events that occurred in that time. Even before the war started, pain and suffering were already widespread. Adolf Hitler s rise to power was a monumental moment in history. According to the book, The Life and Death of Adolf Hitler, Hitler rose to power as the result of sordid intrigues, gifts of money to wealthy industrialists, and because soldiers of Germanyterrorized the population (Giblin 231). Years after Hitler secured power, the Nuremburg Laws were set in place and this is iconic because this is how the Nazis discriminated the Jewish people. According to the Holocaust Symposium, The Nuremberg Laws excluded the Jewish from Reich citizenship and prohibited them from having sexual relations with German people (Glied 3). This discrimination escalated during Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, which was the largest pre war hate attack on the Jewish. During Kristallnacht, synagogues, Jewish homes, and Jewish businesses were attacked and plundered by the violent anti Jewish pogroms throughout areas occupied by German troops (Glied 4). The Effects of Deep Breathing on Heart Rate and Blood Pressure Intro: Research has shown that deep breathing exercises can induce an increase in heart rate (Sroufe 1971) because heart rate is also directly correlated with breathing (Egri 2012). When breathing in, heart rate will increase; and while breathing out, heart rate will decrease (Egri 2012). Blood pressure can be reduced with slower breathing (Joseph et al. 2005). An article in the Journal of Human Hypertension showed that doing breathing exercises over a period of time can lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure (Grossman et al. 2001). The hypothesis in this experiment is that blood pressure and heart rate will be affected by a deep breathing exercise. The null hypothesis was that heart rate and blood pressure will be unchanged while performing a deep breathing exercise. This experiment is significant because it could help people in times of stress or anxiety/panic attacks to learn ways to calm their heart rate and blood pressure down so they may feel better. Being the most common mental illness in the United States and 18% of Americans living with it, research aiding recovery of panic attacks would be extremely useful to the public (Kessler et al. 2005). The Plot Of The Classical Detective Peter HГјhn, a professor of English Literature, defines detective fiction as, The plot of the classical detective novel comprises two basically separate stories the story of the crime (which consists of action) and the story of the investigation (which is concerned with knowledge) (252). At its rudimentary level, Suki Kim s novel The Interpreter follows a similar structure. She presents her protagonist, Suzy Park, as the detective to find the knowledge, to her own personal mystery. Suzy is a twenty nine year old Korean American woman who lives in New York City. She is haunted by the murders of her parents; she was estranged from them for five years before their passing. When Suzy has reason to believe that their murder was a random shooting as was previously believed, she uses all the information that is available to solve the crime. Suki Kim utilizes tone and a nonlinear narrative structure to parallel Suzy s confused mental state in The Interpreter. Because Suzy struggles to understand where she fits between both her American and Korean cultures, she must search to find her own identity and simultaneously search for the answers to her parent s unsolved murder. Kim thus allows for her detective novel to have another dimension: in addition to investigating the crime, Suzy must investigate who she is as a human being. Suzy Park was originally born in Korea and moved to the United States at the age of five. Thus, she feels stuck between two cultures. She does
  • 31. Justifying Reproductive Cloning For Logistical Motives Essay Justifying Reproductive Cloning for Logistical Motives In this age of technology and innovation, what was once science fiction is now becoming a reality. Human reproductive cloning is on the forefront for providing prospective parents with a new mode of reproduction. However, with the concept of reproductive cloning comes an unprecedented set of ethical issues. Issues especially focused on how cloning may affect the child s right to an open future are highlighted by philosophers such as Dena Davis. Davis takes a neutral stance on reproductive cloning and argues that it is morally impermissible when used for duplicative motives, but permissible when used for logistical motives. Duplicative motives are when the genetic replication itself... is the attraction (Davis 160) and the parents wish for their child to be a mere copy of their donor. Logistical motivations are when the parents end goal is simply to have a child that is genetically related (Davis 159). Davis leaves the evaluation of such parental motives in the hands of healthcare professionals. Philosophers McGee and Wilmut add to Davis position, but call for a more holistic evaluation of parental motives and competency by following an adoption model. In this paper, I will support Davis argument on the moral permissibility of reproductive cloning under logistical motivations by addressing the main concerns that surround reproductive cloning. First, I shall reconstruct Davis argument in favor of reproductive cloning

Technology is reducing the demand for many type of human worker, and this would span mass of unemployment. (How Technology is destroying jobs, 2017.) Technology change Is so rapid that many jobs would become absolute. The United States is one of the country with the most advance technology. Innovation of technology brings some benefit to the economy but also some disadvantage like unemployment, thus factory is looking for opportunity to replace employee with robots this could make the job safe, easy, and more productive, but it would reduce worker demand. Therefore, Innovation of technology is affecting negatively the employment rate. In the United States fewer people work in factory today, they have machines that work automatedly and do the job of the workers. Retails company like Amazon have machines that carries the product from one warehouse to another and delivered to worker to pack the product. With this process the work is faster because the machine can take large amount of product. This machine can storage product and organize them, picking up object and moving them to the right place thus this work is done with the help of a worker that manage the machine. These machines are created to enhance worker productivity. For example, the work that couple of employee could do with their hands, now it can be done by a machine with the help of one worker. • 36. Literary Analysis Of Birches By Robert Frost While I believe that the poem Birches by Robert Frost is about what he sees with mother nature, I also believe that Robert Frost meant more in Birches than what comes to the surface by his writing. I think that the poem birches is about his childhood, his children, death, and the similarities between them in his personal life. This can be proven by many between the lines reading, and articles of information about Robert Frost, his childhood, his children and what they were like, and how his poetry wrapped up into it. To start off with, Robert Frost had a death experience starting from very early in his childhood. His father had died when he was only at the age of 11, forcing him, his sister, and his mother to move. With his father deceased and only having his mother, this had forced him to grow up quickly to try to make living a little easier for the three of them. I believe that this could have been one of many reflections in his poem. The boy seining from the birch tree could have been him in his younger years when things were better, and his in his later years recalling the easiness of life, and the innocence of it all. This could also be shown in the poem by talking about the weather , like when he writes swinging doesn t bend them down to stay As ice storms do. Often you must have seen them Loaded with ice a sunny winter morning After a rain. . This is also shown in addition to, with one of my resources Robert Frost: A Life by Jay Parini, in chapters one through three. Likewise to Robert Frost s childhood, he suffered death with his children. According to the Frost Place Organization, out of the six children Robert Frost and his wife had only 2 had outlived their father. On September 12, 1896 their first son, Elliot Frost was born, who later died on July 8, 1900 from cholera. Second born child, a daughter, Lesley was born on April 28, 1899 who died July 9, 1983 from natural causes. Third born child, a son, Carol who was born May 27,1902 who later tragically died in 1940 due to mental illness that later leaded to suicide. Fourth born, Irma, a daughter was born on June 27, 1903 and suffered from mental illness, then later died in 1967 from unstated reasons. Fifth child Marjorie, a daughter,

One versatile theory for achieving this picture is 3D density contrast distribution from gravity data. However, we face to uniqueness for solving these inversion problems. For resolving this issue, an interpreter has to decrees the geometry resolution of an anomaly. For example, using the Tikhonov regularization (Tikhonov and Arsenian, 1977) has led to the unique and stable solution, but regardless of producing blur image of an anomaly, this method is focused on mass varying on the boundary of interpretation region and does not consider the actual depth of anomaly. By this way, Ardestani and Nejati (2011) achieve better image for the 3 D density contrast distribution. In this paper, to clarify the anomaly, we improve the precision of inversion result, in minimum inertia; in Ardestani and Nejati (2011) algorithm by In order to avoid nonuniqueness in inversion, they add some constraints such as geometrical properties and prior density contrast which are provided by geological information of the studied region. But, in some areas with complicated geology, it is difficult to trust this information and sometimes may lead to losing the inversion. To overcomes these possible problems, we use a linear multiple regression on different models of improved circular cylinder (Su et al., 2012) to provide prior information in Ardestani and Nejati (2011) algorithm. Our inversion algorithm is less dependent on geological information and more flexible with prior information. In the following, we define the outline of this paper. In section 2, we explain about the method for constructing the gravity anomaly by using a grid of 3 D rectangular prisms. In section 3, the Lewi inversion algorithm is discussed, also it is extended with the minimum momentum inertia. In section 4, we introduced the linear inversion based on the inclined cylinder for providing our prior information. In section 5, the synthetic examples are used to illustrate the results of our inversion procedure. In section 6, this method is applied to the mining deposits

The problem is, the stigmatization of addiction causes much more negative than positive effects in our society. It is harder to get back into society: get a job and is pushing people away from admitting they have a substance abuse problem and seeking treatment. The government made a counter intuitive system for fighting drugs and it is causing serious harm to our culture. One of these effects is that, Nowadays, if someone heard someone else used to do drugs they label you as a second class citizen which makes it much harder to get a job and merge into society. When people hear someone did drugs or is doing drugs they have an immediate prejudice against them. They are labelled a criminal, a scourge to society and are treated like a second class citizen. It is much harder to get and keep a job. Joining back into society is much harder because many people don t want to be associated with others shown in such a poor light. It is much harder to get a job if you have a previous addiction and especially if you have a criminal record because of that addiction. Many employers do not want to associate with possible legal liabilities because no employer would want someone doing their job under the influence and because of the previous addiction, they would deem previous drug user more likely to show up under the influence.

On the conservative side, there views are that people should be responsible for themselves, if they are given the chance they are completely capable of supporting themselves and their families. They also believe that if government always picks up and pampers the poor or needy, they will be weak and lose their motivation to work. A Short Note On The Air Leak Syndrome Introduction Air Leak Syndrome is a term used to describe a collection of similar pathologies related to air being in pulmonary, pleural and interstitial spaces. The most common cause of air leak syndrome in neonates is inadequate mechanical ventilation of their delicate lungs. The incidence of air leaks in newborns is inversely related to the birth weight of the infants, especially in infants suffering from respiratory distress syndrome and meconium aspiration (Walsh, 2015). For pneumothorax, the incidence from 1990 2002 was 13% in babies weighing 1000 grams are at high risk the first day or two after birth. Babies with pulmonary hypoplasia, meconium aspiration syndrome, and respiratory distress syndrome are also at higher risk. Use of NIV/CPAP also increases the risk. An article in the Pediatrics journal cited three cases where children of various ages developed various air leaks from the use of high flow nasal cannula (HHNC) therapy. The author cited the urgent need to conduct more studies on HHNC and that it should not be used for providing positive distending pressure. Set flows should not exceed the patient s minute ventilation (Hegde, 2013). Prevention Sadly, it should be understood that most of pulmonary air leaks are iatrogenic. Healthcare workers should not be overly aggressive when doing CPR and using the bag mask. Infants lungs are fragile and cannot handle being over ventilated. When using mechanical ventilation, use low pressures low tidal volumes and high respiratory rates. Risk of pneumothorax and pulmonary interstitial emphysema can be reduced by using surfactant. Pathophysiology Air leaks are a result of overdistention of the lungs and can cause uneven alveolar ventilation and air trapping. Increased pressures can rupture alveoli or other tissues, allowing air to escape into the interstitial spaces. This air can then travel through perivascular adventitia, causing pulmonary interstitial emphysema. If the air

This therefore supports my previous discussion that black people could contribute to society and live normal lives without white people diminishing their human rights and privileges and making them slaves. Douglass got his passion to promote freedom for all slaves after he escaped from slavery and ultimately had an end goal to abolish slavery in all its forms and aspects, and promote the moral and intellectual improvement of the coloured people and hasten the day of freedom to the three million of enslaved fellow countrymen . He also wrote several autobiographies describing his experiences as a slave. In addition to the advantages listed above, there are other considerations that can confirm the suitability of using plea bargaining in the trial process. The first consideration is to provide an incentive to defendants who acknowledge their wrongdoing. The jurist plea bargaining process will encourage defendants to be responsible for their actions and send them to a rehabilitation center that expedites their rehabilitation at a shorter period of time. If their issues are not suitably resolved, they will go through the entire trial court

Many times the Lees wouldn t understand the instructions of the doctors and I believe this also impacted the way that they thought of medicine. The doctors loved Lia and so did her parents, but they just had different ways of thinking. The Lees thought that sickness comes from the soul, and the doctors believed that there was a physiological cause for the sickness. The doctors were not open minded about the Lee s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think the main point in this story is not to give up, but instead to be patient and have the courage to fight back. According to the Hmong culture a shaman helps to cure the soul. A doctor cures physiological problems. As we learn throughout this class there is a difference between an illness and a disease. An illness or a disease may have the absence of the other. In most cases an illness can be present without a disease. In the case of Lia there was a presence of both illness and disease. If txiv neeb and the American doctor would have balanced their practices and learned from each other, this would have positively affected the way the Lees thought about modern medicine. I believe that faith plays an important role in Lia s case, and if the doctors would have understood the way that txiv neeb thought and vice versa, the Lees would have trusted American doctors and medicine more. Learning from txiv neeb would have also helped the American doctors in Lia s case and in other cases when treating Hmong patients by understanding their culture. It is important for the doctors to understand the Hmong culture and specifically the way that a txiv neeb works because in Merced a third of the population were Hmong and used a tixv neeb as their main source of healing. A txiv neeb takes the time to be with a patient while a doctor would only spend 15 minutes with them. A txiv neeb could have learn how to perform CPR in case it was ever

The guitar solo provided more emotional support to the lyrics of the song. It wasn t loud and it wasn t soft. It was right in the middle. The song had a medium tempo and the dynamic of the song is soft to high and then back to soft. Because of the soothing and soft to high dynamic of the song with the guitar producing the support, you feel the emotions the song is trying to provide. Most of the lyrics are repeated in song and the main vocalist said this line ( I don t want to leave her now. You know I believe and how ) throughout the song, which is the main idea behind the song. The main idea the song is trying to portray is how there s something special in the person he loves and he can t let her go. He said Attracts me like no other lover and That I don t need no other lover which means the girl he loves is irreplaceable. The lyrics of this song are relatable to everyone because it s about love. • 52. Essay The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany August 4th 1914 marks the date on which Europe fell into what has become known as the Great War . What started as a minor squabble between Austria Hungary and Serbia, in the space of six weeks, escalated into total war between Europe s biggest powers. Almost one hundred years later we are no closer to answering the question of who or what was to blame for it s outbreak. It is easy to assume that Germany were solely to blame, however this assumption would be incorrect. Germany did, at times have an overbearing influence, and with many factors, the underlying fault lies with Germany. However, influence of other nations, states and individuals were also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This economic stability allowed the military to grow and colonise. Germany looked for colonies in Africa, which antagonised the French and the British who had had colonies there for years. Their relatively unsuccessful search led to concentration on Europe. Chancellor Bulow said without a strong army and navy, there can be no welfare for us . Bismarck provided Germany with a strong position in Europe by allying with Austria Hungary in 1879, which encouraged military expansion. In the early 1900 s, Germany s military expanded to greatly and demonstrates their aggressive nature. The German army and navy could be seen as a means of defence, but whatever the function of the system, it was intimidating to say the least. The subsequent arms race was as a direct result of German expansion and created European tension. Their army increased to be just 100,000 less than that of the Russian army, and their navy expanded ten fold, which in turn made the British navy increase (it was British policy to have a navy larger than the second and third largest navies in Europe put together). French expenditure on defence doubled and Russia, Austria Hungary and Italy all increased their armaments. Without the arms race, which Germany sparked, there would simply not have been the equipment for a war to take
  • 53. Tumor Busting Virus Essay Reading an article and learning about tumor busting viruses is very compelling, to say the least. Since it seems almost everyone has endured the pain of cancer or has a loved one who has been diagnosed with some form of cancer, it is refreshing to see that researchers and scientists are coming together to find fresh techniques to help heal this tragic illness. This new remedy that scientists are experimenting with is called virotherapy. Virotherapy was defined in the article as viruses that have been genetically engineered to find and kill cancer cells while leaving healthy cells untouched. A treatment such as this has been a favorable one considering how the traditional cancer chemotherapies have been known to not only attack cancer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because all people, roughly, have been exposed to adenovirus, humans hold antibodies from the immune system to attack and kill the virus. Therefore, using adenoviruses in cancer virotherapy may result in some symptoms that seem like indicators of the flu. This is because the immune system has been trained to respond to the virus by attacking it and eliminating it from the body, which will also stamp out the therapy. Researchers have been attempting to fight the side effects by giving immunosuppressive drugs while the patient is on the virotherapy as well as altering the adenoviruses so that the immune system will not respond to the virus. To create the best version of virotherapy, scientists are discovering two ways to be confident the viruses hit target cells with no other harm to other cells. One strategy virotherapy researchers are exploring is called transductional targeting. With this form of targeting cancer cells, researchers are modifying the viruses used so they are only attracted to only cancerous cells to contaminate them. To prevent the viruses from entering normal cells, transductional targeting works by binding adapter molecules onto the antibodies, proteins on the outside of virus, or tweaking the antibodies so that they will not allow viruses to enter normal cells and rather let them gain up on tumor cells. The second strategy discussed in the article is named transcriptional targeting. The goal of this form of targeting is to modify the viruses
  • 54. Evaluation Essay On Self Evaluation Self Evaluation CENS 303A is my third distance online course at University of British Columbia. It allowed me to learn about the history of the Holocaust, which is an event that I am not particularly familiar. Even though we might not talk about this topic often, it s still something that we must never forget. Not only did this course educate me about the timeline, historical figures involved but it also helped me understand the realm of darkness in Auschwitz concentration camps. It is true that an outsider might not understand how little value was placed on human life in those concentration camps. Through reading Holocaust survivors memoirs however, readers can get insights on the reverence for life and recognize how human life was exterminated. The camp resembles a living laboratory. The victims lived in virtual darkness and expelled from the world. They were isolated,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I went over texts that I found particularly interesting. Often times, subsequent readings can help take on different levels of focus such as noticing the author s tone, details, and intellectual thoughts. My favorite reading is Kluger s memoir because she had challenged my sympathies towards Holocaust survivors. A clerk saved her from gas chambers by lying to a SS guard. When I was wondering about the clerk s motive, Kluger s barbed line, What more do you need for an example of perfect goodness? really caught me in a surprise. Next, the self check questions after every module are extremely helpful for preparing the midterm exam. When I failed to recall specific dates or names, the explanations from the self check questions were excellent sources for making references. As of the web essay, I found it difficult because it forced me to revisit previous readings to look for the specific facts. I think it would be more helpful if I took more time to discuss the topic with my peers on the
