INTRODUCTION The Canterbury region is the second largest dairy producer in
the country (Statistics New Zealand, n.d.). Over the period of 2007 to 2012, the
region has seen an increase of 60,000 hectares of irrigated farm land (Hills, 2013)
due to the conversion of beef, sheep and crop farms to water intensive dairy
farming. There has also been an increase of 58% in the number of dairy farms and
a 31% increase in the average herd size of dairy farms (Burns, 2013). For
maximum production, sufficient irrigation is required for dairy farms (Food and

I.Introduction
In The New Holy Trinity, Richard M. Re takes us back to the very controversial
1892 case, Holy Trinity. This is one of the most problematic cases for purposivist
and it lead to a decrease in purposivism as an interpretation tool. It has been criticized
by textualist, such as the late Justice Scalia, due to its prioritizing of a statutes
purpose over the plain language of the text. As a result, Holy Trinity was overthrown
thus making New Textualism the prevailing view especially in the Roberts court.
However, Re argues that purposivism has evolved and now has the upper hand in
the Roberts court. The New Holy Trinity , according to Re, is the resurgence of
consideration for non textual factors when determining how much clarity is required
for a text to be clear. Re argues that the Court has embraced NHT that is a hybrid
version of textualism. The court looks at the purpose of the statute in light of the text
before deciding ambiguity. Then it goes to the purpose of the text shown by
legislative history, common sense understanding, a canon, and then decides based on
that rather than the plain reading of the case. Re uses three Supreme Court cases:
Bond v. United States, Yates v. United States, and King v. Burwell as evidence that
his theory is correct. Re seems to dislike the Roberts Court s flair for the canon of
avoidance he believes that it is deceptive and riddled with Robert s underlying

When considering the topic of health benefits and the risks of running long distances
the well known story of the original marathoner Pheidippides is often brought up. The
story is often told that Pheidippides, after running nearly twenty six miles from
Marathon to Athens to declare that the Athenians had won the Battle of Marathon,
fell dead from exhaustion. This version of the first marathon often casts a negative
light on the health benefits of running. However, this is not the full story. The real
story involves Pheidippides traveling one hundred forty miles in an attempt to recruit
the Spartans to aid the Athenians in their upcoming battle; then running again the
return trip to report to the Athenians that aid would not be coming before the Persians
arrived to battle. Finally, he ran the twenty six miles to Athens to report the Athenian

There were a number of driving causes of the Taranaki wars. The four most
significant driving causes of the Taranaki wars include the Musket Wars, conflicting
beliefs about sovereignty between the Maori and Pakeha, conflicting beliefs about
land ownership between the Maori and Pakeha and the selling of the Pekapeka block.
A significant cause of the Taranaki wars is the Musket Wars
. Musket wars were inter
tribal wars between different Maori tribes in the 1820s/18230s. They were one of
the most lethal inter tribal wars in Maori history due to the introduction of
Muskets by the British. Historically, Maori wars were fought in the Autumn after
food had been stored for the winter. Hand to hand weapons such as mere and patu
were used and wars were ritualised activities which caused few deaths. Maori had
non violent ways of resolving disputes. These include tactics such as diplomacy,
arranged marriages, gifts, asset stripping and escape to avoid war. The leader of
the Ngapuhi tribe, Hongi Hika was seen as responsible for the Musket Wars. Hongi
s uncle and two brothers were killed in a battle with Ngati Whatua, and Hongi felt
obliged to avenge them. The musket wars were New Zealand wide, and the Northern
rivals Ngapuhi and Ngati Whatu led the way, however the heaviest fighting took
place between Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu in the South Island. Ngai Puhu first used
muskets in battle in 1807. In 1818, Ngapuhi began to use muskets in battle,
wreaking havoc down the North Island. Hongi led his taua south, destroying 50
Maori villages along the east coast. 2000 people were enslaved for labour to produce
profits to purchase Muskets. In 1821, Hongi acquired 300 muskets, escalating the
fighting. He then attacked rivals in Auckland, capturing another 2000 slaves. Maori
without muskets were forced to trade with the British for them in order to survive.
Tribes threatened with attack had no choice but to buy their own guns and launch
their own campaigns. The fighting reached a height in the 1820s. In 1822, Te
Rauparaha led the Ngati Toa tribe down the North Island, attacking other tribes along
the way. Taranaki iwifled south to join a confederation which defeated opposing

There are eleven million undocumented immigrants that choose to move to the United
States for a better life. Undocumented illegal immigrants vary from individuals who
migrate from the following countries: Mexico, China, Philippines, India, and many
more. It is often assumed that these undocumented/unauthorized immigrants are
simply Mexicans who cross the southwest border and take one man s job. At the
White House, they are ... criminals who menace American neighborhoods, take
America jobs ... and exploit American generosity They are people who should be,
and will be, expelled (NY Times).The United Statesis an option these individuals
choose so they can begin a new life here, which is why many undocumented
individuals, not only Hispanics, migrate to the United States. Studies show that out of
the eleven million immigrants, almost a quarter are not even Hispanic. (NY Times).
Aside from these undocumented individuals who risk their lives by stepping into a
better opportunity, these individuals must worry about the community they choose to
step into. Depending on where exactly these individuals decide to move to, the
chances of moving to a sanctuary city are fair. There are many sanctuary states, cities,
and counties here in the United States that are available and beneficial for
undocumented individuals. Although there are many benefits of moving to a
sanctuary city as an undocumented individual, there are also benefits of moving to a
sanctuary city as an undocumented
