How To Introduce Yourself In An Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "How To Introduce Yourself In An Essay" can be both
challenging and intriguing. At first glance, introducing oneself may seem like a straightforward
task, but delving into the intricacies of crafting a compelling self-introduction requires thoughtful
consideration and a nuanced approach.
One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between being informative and engaging.
A successful introduction should not only provide essential details about the writer but also
captivate the reader's attention from the outset. It involves the art of self-presentation, where
choosing what to include and what to omit becomes a delicate decision.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements. The goal is to
create a unique and memorable introduction that sets the tone for the entire essay. It's about
steering clear of overused phrases and finding a fresh perspective that showcases personality and
individuality.
Another aspect that adds complexity is tailoring the introduction to the specific context and
audience. Different situations may demand different approaches – whether it's a personal
essay, a professional bio, or an academic assignment. Adapting the introduction to the intended
purpose requires a keen understanding of the audience's expectations and the overall tone of the
essay.
Moreover, the writer must navigate the fine line between self-promotion and humility. While the
introduction aims to highlight one's strengths and achievements, it is crucial to avoid coming
across as boastful or arrogant. Striking this balance requires a thoughtful selection of language
and a genuine reflection on one's experiences and qualities.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "How To Introduce Yourself In An Essay" poses a
multifaceted challenge that demands creativity, self-awareness, and a careful consideration of
the intended audience. It's a task that goes beyond the surface level of self-description and

Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece
While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon
this question What is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K.
Chesterton answered The fatal metaphor of progress, which means leaving things
behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of growth, which means leaving things
inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of quotations of a man who
never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something about
everything and say it better than everybody else. This is a journey to understand a
genius and the Nightmare that he is well known for even over one hundred years
after it was written.

Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the
rules of the academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role
he could think most profoundly, powerfully, and effectively.
He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He
progressed from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his
own winning personality to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism.
In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met
Hilaire Belloc, and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the
great influences in his life. From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen
novels, the most important being The Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man
Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father Brown detective
stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles.
He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical
and polemical works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the
White Horse, Lepanto, and the drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his
major critical works are reviews of Robert Browning (1903) and Charles Dickens
(1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a number of Belloc s light
works.

Job Analysis Project
Conducting my research for this class project, I have learned that conducting a
thorough job analysis is an important step in filling a job opening as well as
contributing to the successful growth of an organization in terms of finances and
talented workers.
A job analysis should be conducted to gather information about the responsibilities,
duties, skills of a particular job. In addition, it can include information about the work
environment and desired education and experience. There are several ways to
conduct a job analysis including using the Occupational Information Network
(O*NET), using an analysis questionnaire, observation and interviewing. While doing
my research there are other informal ways to conduct a job analysis and it ... Show

The Influence Of Gays In The Military
Introduction Our military is deeply rooted in history, and looking back, it is very
clear those who served in World War I and even World War II were successful
thanks to the laws then preventing females or homosexuals to serve their country in
combat. Since then, our military has made changes not only in how to conduct
combat operations, but who may serve, and more importantly who may see action
in the air and on the ground as first line defenders. During these early periods, our
military member s sleeping quarters were open bay, and the lavatories were also
open as well as the showers. Additionally, there was stereotyping occurring and men
were to go to combat and the women remained at home and cared for the family and
work in the factories to provide supplies to those in combat. Women and homosexuals
were able to serve their country, however, for women they were not allowed to fill
certain jobs due to the combat requirements of those jobs. On the other hand, men
who were homosexuals were serving in all areas and for both male and female
homosexuals, they could not identify or tell others their sexual preference, as they
would face punishment and then discharged from the military. Just within the past
few years, the removal of any Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) and
homosexual identity within the Department of Defense is now part of our military
history. Eliminating these inequalities within this elite organization continues to

as Alaska (the Alaskan coast), and Canada. This cold climate influences their whole
way of living.
Obtain Food: Due to the harsh weather they were not able to farm or grow any
crops. They mostly lived off of meat from hunting animals such as seals walruses,
and whales. They also ate fish and wild berries. To keep their energy up in the long
winters they would eat foods with lots of fat in it. When hunting whales the Inuit

The Necklace Analysis
One may wonder how she feels; as if it was all worth it to her now? When she sits
to reflect on the evening of January 18th which was filled with beautiful dresses
and the succulent food, is she remorseful? In the story The Necklace the main
character, Mathilde loses her friend s necklace that she assumed was made of
diamonds. It goes into detail as to how her and her husband Loisel worked
tirelessly to replace the garment over the course of 10 years. The theme of this
essay is to reveal who is truly at fault for the downfall of Mathilde, comparing
society s views, her husband s actions, the involvement of Madame Forestier, and
finally Mathilde herself. Just as our current society; many individuals during
Mathilde s era follow the trends of clothing, decorating, and even technology. In
the story, Maupassant elegantly describes the Antechambers hung with Oriental
tapestry, illuminated by tall bronze candelabra. (Maupassant 42) Equally
important, Mathilde allowed for the influence and ideas of what would make her
appealing to the rest of society affect her everyday life. For example, she
frequently daydreamed of a life of grandeur in her head such as the Long reception
halls hung with ancient silk. (Maupassant 42) Moreover, she frequently would
compare herself to those who were better off financially allowing for her to feel
unsatisfied and place a sense of false guilt on her husband. The author made it clear
as to what she valued by including She had no gowns, no

At first, I believed science and I were never going to be a compatible match. I ve
always enjoyed learning the topics, but I struggled at times to keep up with content.
After taking AP Environmental Science, I was exposed to a different point of view
of the science world that impacted my perspective on my own actions. Indeed, basic
concepts like the atmospheric layers and food chains that I learned about in middle
school were reviewed in the course. However, the class was more than learning about
specific subjects and reviewing content from the past. It didn t just teach me about
energy, demographics, or any other scientific topics. I learned much about current
events, effects on the Earth, and how my impact can either help or worsen the current
Armenian Genocide and Holocaust Comparison
More than thirteen million people from over four different religions and races were
killed during the Holocaust and Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. That is
more than half the number of people that died in World War I. The book Maus by
Art Spigelman tells the story of a man who was a victim of and lived through the
Holocaust. The Holocaust and Amenian Genocide are indistinguishable because of
not only the amount of people that died but also for three more main reasons. These
reasons are the gruesome leaders of both genocides, the merciless dehumanization
that was forced upon the Armenians, Jews, and Lebanese, and the unreasonable
murder tactics. ! First of all, there were many people that were part of the

During the Holocaust, they were willing to spend great amounts of money to kill
the Jews just as long as they were all dead. The Jews were killed in gas chambers,
shot down oneby one into mass graves, and tortured for no good reason (Maus 241

reasons. The leaders were Adolf Hitler and Enver Pasha. They were both very
uncaring and wanted to exterminate many different groups of people. The merciless
dehumanization of the Jews and Armenians included taking their names, homes, and
belongings away from them. The unreasonable murder tactics in both genocides
included burning, shooting, and gassing the victims. More than thirteen million
people died during these two genocides and there are some people that deny that it
ever even happened. Kamberling 4 Works Cited Adolf Hitler Quotes. Adolf Hitler

The Digestive System Of Digestion Essay
Digestion is the breaking apart of foods into smaller and smaller units and
absorbtion is the movements of those small units from the gut into the bloodstream
or lymphatic system for circulation. (1) The digestive system is what keeps you
going from day to day because without the digestive system you wouldn t be able to
consume anything. You also wouldn t be able to absorb the necessary nutrients you
need for your body to keep functioning correctly. The organs that play a role in the
digestive systemis the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine,
appendix, rectum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and the anal canal. The mouth is
where it all starts. Before you even take a bite of your food, the smell of the food is
what triggers your salivary glands which include the parotid, sublingual, and
submandibular glands in your mouth making it start to water. Your saliva increases
when you taste the food. When you chew the food into smaller pieces the enzyme
amylase breaks food into small sugar molecules. To start fat digestionanother enzyme
is released at the base of the tongue called lingual lipase. A bolus is easy to swallow
and is formed when saliva and other fluids in the mouth mixed with mucous. Bolus
slides past the epiglottis and then goes through the esophagus and to the stomach
where it is then digested. The esophagus is a muscular tube connecting the pharynx to
the stomach that is part of the upper gastrointestinal tract. (4) This organ carries the
Exploratory Practice Research
1. According to the views of the participant teachers, what were the benefits and
challenges of taking part of the project?
According to Teacher research as continuing professional development a project
with Chilean secondary school teachers there is a major benefit to participate in
the project, which is the ability to improve their ability to diagnose the hidden
reason to a particular problem in the classroom, in order to change the approach, or
to direct to the source of it. By practicing what I believe is an exploratory practice

skills in the research field. However, no matter the benefits they might get from
projects like the one explained in the text, the overloaded schedules restrain teachers
from broadening their careers to EP or AR areas. Furthermore, as they don t have
much background on how to do and write one, they are afraid to adventure
themselves on this field.

Events That Shaped European History
What were the key events that shaped European History after the decline of the
Roman Empire?
There were two institutions that survived the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The
first one was the Eastern Roman Empire, which was known as the Byzantine Empire
survived another thousand years. Its continent is Constantinople, and is considered
the largest city in Europe. The Byzantine emperor was both the leader of state and
church, which was controlled by four patriarchs who were spiritual leaders of the
communities. In 527, Justinian was the emperor, and he built the largest church in
the world and the code of Justinian organized Roman law into books that later
became the basis of European Law. He hoped to recreate the old Roman Empire by

Tennis Balloon Research Paper
Currently, all tennis balls are packaged in cylinders which hold four balls.
Although this is an innovative idea, there is a lot of wasted space in the cylinders
and in the square box that it is packaged in. In this investigation, another idea for a
container will be shown with a list of advantages and disadvantages. The aim is to
create a new container for tennis balls that has a comparable surface areaand wasted
space to that of the cylinder containers currently used. Another container that could be
used instead of a cylinder is a rectangular prismas shown below. This investigation
will use measurement to calculate the surface area and volumeof 3D objects, including

This assumption was proven to be incorrect as the wasted space was calculated to be
much over 4000cm3. Another assumption made was that the square box with
rectangular prisms inside would have a considerably smaller amount of wasted
space compared to the cylinder, but a small amount of wasted space would exist. As
shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in the square box with
the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of the
cylindrical container. In part B, it was presumed that the points would be scattered
loosely around the line of best fit. After creating the scatter plot, it was understood
that the points were closely scattered around the line of best fit and a realisation that
there could be a formula to calculate the results quicker was brought into
consideration. Also, another assumption was that the amount of wasted space would
not be a significant amount. After calculating, it was notable that the wasted space
was more than half of the volume of the
Organizational Behavior Defined
Organizational Behavior Defined Introduction It is reasonable to suggest that the
overwhelming majority of humankind has either been part of or required the
services of organizations at some point in time during their lives, and many of
these consumers will likely testify that although every organization is different in
some ways, they all share some common characteristics. Furthermore, because all
organizations are comprised of mere humans, they are subject to the same
behavioral whims, weaknesses and vagaries that also characterize the human
condition from day to day and over time. To gain further insights into these
concepts, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly
literature to develop a comprehensive and robust definition of organizational
behavior. This review is followed by a summary of the research and salient
findings in the conclusion. Review and Discussion As the term indicates,
organizational behavior describes how people interact in a workplace setting to
achieve a common goal or purpose. In this regard, Kelly and Kelly (1998)
emphasize that, Organizational behavior is essentially concerned with what people
do in organizations (p. 4). Therefore, defining organizational behavior requires a
consideration of how people actually behave in workplace settings at a given point
in time as well as over time (Miner, 2002). As Kelly and Kelly point out, A good
working definition of organizational behavior is the systematic study of
How Has Hispanic Culture Influenced American Culture
Hispanics have greatly influenced U.S. culture. Their contributions have impacted
just about every aspect of society and they have become a part of our nation s
diversity. Hispanics are typically defined as people from Spanish speaking countries
or directly from Spain. According the to U.S. Census Bureau (2015), Hispanics make
up more than 17% of the population with 55 million living in the United States. More
than half of the population live in just three states; California, Florida and Texas
which makes the people of Hispanic origin the nation s largest ethnic or racial
minority. As such, we see their influence in the culture of our businesses, in politics,
and in film, food, music and art.
Traditional Hispanic music has strong roots in the United States and is characterized
by its rhythm, along with a mixture of instrumental and vocal leads. The arrival of
Columbus brought a mix of languages and cultures that helped to define Hispanic
music. Its history can be traced back to the slaves from that came from Africa, the
Europeans, the Spanish and the Portuguese who all cohabitated in United States all
those years ago. The African beats, the wind instruments and the rhythms that have

Due to the mixing of cultures within society skin tones have played a major factor
in determining social status. Throughout history Hispanics have faced racial and
socioeconomic discrimination and their music has been the outlet in dealing with
these issues. In 2009, a well know musician from the Dominican Republic, Juan
Luis Guerra recorded a parody song called El Costo De La Vida about poverty and
the struggles relating to this social inequality. Another musician, Ruben Blades dealt
with the issues of racism in his 2012 hit Ligia Elena which highlights the social
impacts of a rich white girl who falls for a poor black trumpet

childhood was marked by significant challenges that he had to over come. Ryan
was born with a congenital deformity known as club foot. Ryan s father left when
he was very young, leaving his mother to raise Ryan on her own. Ryan spent the

It was slow going at first, but Long persevered and eventually became successful in
the business. At this point long decided to concentrate his efforts exclusively in

The Myth Of Sisyphus By Albert Camus
The Myth of Sisyphus is a philosophical essay authored by Albert Camus.
Originally published in French in 1942 as Le Mythe de Sisyphe, It was translated
into English by Justin O Brien in 1955. Camus in this essay introduces his concept
of the absurd . He talks of man s futile search for meaning, unity, and clarity. He
states that for man the world becomes an unintelligible space which is devoid of
God, moral ethics and eternal truths. In such a situation one is forced to
contemplate Is suicide the only way out hence? Camus is of the opinion that by
revolting against the absurdity of life one can overcome absurdity. Camus goes on
to discuss the similarities between Sisyphus and modern day man s life. Sisyphus
was punished by the God s to eternally push a boulder up the hill just to see it roll
back down. The essay concludes, The struggle itself [...] is enough to fill a man s
heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy. Camus addresses the issue of man s
aspirations for a better tomorrow, without realizing that each day brings him closer
to his ultimate reality: death. Death is the ultimate reality of all mankind something
one fails to acknowledge in one s lifetime. The world once stripped of its ideal
romanticism, is a strange, inhuman and foreign place. True knowledge is impossible
and not everything can be reasoned or answered through science. From the moment
absurdity is recognized, it becomes a passion, the most harrowing of all. Sisyphus as
represented by Camus is a
Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech Analysis
There is no denying conflict. Everyone faces conflict of some sort in their lives,
whether it be an argument over which sibling gets to sit in the front seat of the car
on the way to school, or a potentially dangerous confrontation that necessitates an
immediate reaction. Writers such as Susan Campbell Bartoletti and Elie Wiesel, who
wrote Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler s Shadow and Nobel PrizeAcceptance
Speech respectively, portray such situations. Bartoletti writes about how one
German girl faced conflict during World War Two, and Wiesel shares his personal
experience as a Jew in a concentration camp. Both works show that the most
important aspect of facing a conflict is the way in which a person chooses to deal
with it. One could react to conflict by becoming angry or sullen, shouting or going
silent, or simply pouting. None of these reactions are the best some can even be
counterproductive to one s goals. The best way to deal with conflict is to take a stand
for one s beliefs. First off, standing up for one s beliefs creates many positive effects,

I Am About The American Culture And History
Today I am about to meet my prospective grandmother from the States! I am excited
to chat up with some silent generations from America and it is my chance to soak
up some American culture and history. As a foreigner who never had the
opportunity to talk to someone older than 50; it s a pleasure to see how thing will
end up. Initially, I am not expecting much nor less from the conversations, but to my
wonders, it opened my eye quite a bit to how different culture have a different style
of generationcore values and perspectives in life. And as a Thailand born Taiwanese
college student who flew all the way from Asia to America, this is a blessing to
experience.
My intergenerational partner, Carolyn Zeiger, is 73 years young and a retired
licensed psychologist. She used to work as a meditative practitioner for
individuals who has Parkinson s Disease. Carolyn is a Silent, and I am glad that
we have something in common even before we meet in person. As the students pair
up with their intergenerational partner, I scanned the room attempting to find a
lady with short white hair and a pair of glasses (Based on her photo I saw in the
intergenerational webpage). Like a child looking for his parents, I spotted Carolyn,
and she made eye contact with me. She is a bit shorter than me, and her voice is
astoundingly calm and soothing. Both of us introduced ourselves, and we sat down
to further talk about our lives. My first impression was that my partner is highly
educated,
The Importance Of Society And Class In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald illustrates a lyrical writing style is
told through the point of view of main character Nick Carraway. Throughout the book
themes such as wealth, love, social class, look at America and past memories
contributes to the meaning of who and what the great gatsby is.
Society and class was one major theme that contributed to the meaning of The Great
Gatsby. In the 1920 s Americans were either rich or poor, partying or working,
living with the wealth or struggling to make ends meet. During this time, America
was facing a time of division between social class. The social class you were placed
in depended on who your parents were and how much they made was who you
were going to be and how you were going to look at society. Society and class are
two major different components faced in this books. There were those of higher
class who didn t have to work and could amuse themselves with any sort of fancy
all day long. Gatsby is low class male who is higher up society based on the money
that he makes and works for. When I came back from the East last autumn I felt that
I wanted the world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever; I wanted
no more riotous excursions with privileged glimpses into the human heart. Only
Gatsby, the man who gives his name to this book, was exempt from my reaction
Gatsby, who represented everything for which I have an unaffected scorn . (1.4).

Summary Of Symbolism In The Cellist Of Sarajevo
The Utilization of Symbolism to Manifest a Message In literature, it is common
for authors to apply different stylistic techniques in order to assist in providing the
readers with a message. This idea is prominent in Steven Galloway s The Cellist of
Sarajevo, a novel which follows the story of three characters in the war torn city of
Sarajevo. Despite the fact that the characters never meet, they are each unified by a
cellist and the song he plays for twenty two days to honour the citizens who lost their
lives while waiting in line for bread. Throughout the book, a recurring idea is that of
hope for the futureof Sarajevo, which is shown through the contrast of symbols from
the beginning of the novelto the end, the cellist himself, and the adagio that the
cellist plays. It is evident from the meaning created through objects and people that
Galloway is able to use symbolism to enhance the idea that a city which once was
destroyed can still be repaired. The first significant method which Galloway uses
to prove his idea is by elaborating on the idea of finding new hope for Sarajevo. By
utilizing contrasting symbols in the beginning and end of the novel, he is able to
demonstrate the change from having lack of faith for the future, to obtaining an
improved ideology for the fate of the city. At the start of the novel, Dragan, a
protagonist of the story, describes the city as a peculiar shade of grey. He s not sure
where it came from, if it was always there and the war has

sixty dollars a person, especially since their foodcontinues to be exceptional, it could
go for a higher price. I ordered a medium rare ten ounce prime chateau cut. I enjoyed
it immensely, the steak was flavored the way I wished, and I wish I could enjoy

restaurant. The steakhouse has well trained waiters and waitresses. They are friendly

Kowloon Walled City Essay
The plans and narratives of the Kowloon Walled City have drastically changed
through the years, as it has been an unrolled and unregulated enclave between the
British and Chinese governments. It began as an officially planed Chinese military
fort and afterwards witnessed three distinct stages of lawlessness, demolition and
rebirth as an urban garden. It all officially began in the 16th century, when the
Chinese built a defensive garrison town filled with soldiers, civil officers and their
families (Carney, 2013). However, when Hong Kongwas leased to the British in 1898,
the Kowloon Walled Citybecame a enclave in the colonized territory, where no laws
of the official state applied and everything began expanding spontaneously. The first
stage of the city s unintentional self organization began in the 1950 s. It is widely
known as the time of three vices gambling, prostitution and drug dealing. The
official regulations of the British did work on Hong Kong and were reversely
reflected in the Chinese enclave. As soon as something was forbidden in the city
state, people massively poured into the un ruled territory and let the sins to flourish.
This way the Kowloon Walled City became synonymous with violence, crime and
disturbance. During this period, the city and people became one, the buildings were
connected by piping systems and wires, the water poured through the holes and
sunlight could barely reach the lower levels. Yet, in the early 1970 s the situation
started changing
Flahtahl s Propaganda Triumph Of The Will ( 1938 )
Since the advent of documentary film with Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North
(1922), those with power have sought to use it as a tool in their arsenal to reach
people. Advances in communications technology in the early twentieth century
allowed it to be used as a one way message delivery system to the masses, however
the ways in which this has been implemented have varied hugely based on context
and political viewpoint. Through consideration of Leni Riefenstahl s propaganda
Triumph of the Will (1935), and Lorentz s advocacy documentary The River (1938)
this essay will analyse the concepts of persuasion, education and propaganda in
documentary film, discussing the similarities and differences between these areas. It
is worth first briefly defining the ideas that this essay will cover, education is at its
purest form the provision of information and systematic instruction while persuasion
is the attempt to induce change through reasoning. Propaganda, conversely, is non
objective/biased information used to promote a point of view. Although on paper the
distinctions seem clear, in practical use it quickly becomes apparent how much these
lines can blur. If persuasion is a technique that attempts to change viewpoints, how far
does it really sit from this idea of propaganda? Both films that will be discussed were
produced in the nineteen thirties, a turbulent political landscape where the great
depression and high unemployment rates in Europe had put democratic capitalism
under
Andrew Fletcher Research Paper
Let me write the songs of a nation, and I care not who writes its laws. So wrote the
Scottish statesman Andrew Fletcher, in summarizing the idea he found in the
writings of Plato. Fletcher fought vigorously against the Act of Union with England
in 1707, believing Scotland should be independent. I suppose he s turning over in his
grave and wishing he had written a few more ballads right about now. After fighting
as a legislator, soldier and author, Fletcher concluded that those who influenced the
daily lives of citizens by writing the popular songs and entertainments, had the power
to inspire their audience to action or inaction and, in his mind, to freedom or
submission. It s an interesting point; one that recognizes the power of the arts... Show

The Two Sides Essay
The Two Sides The views we have are what shapes us, sometimes we have vast

given the choice of seeking out more of said idea or choosing to remain as is.
Cathedral by Raymond Carver is a story that gives us a look into what it is like to
have our views challenged through experiencing them first hand. We are introduced
to the story by narration and we are given a brief summary of how his wife and the
blind man had met from the narrrator. We learn that the blind man is named Robert,
he is the only characterthat is named and described in the story. After the exchange of
greetings and very detailed description of the dinner they all enjoyed Robert and...

Like the way the Naratator speaks of the blind man s marriage. He makes
assumptions on how pitiful it must have been for his wife to never know the
feeling of being complemented for ones appearance by her husband. How pathetic
it was for her to go to her grave knowing that he never knew what she looked like. I
felt sorry for the blind man for a little bit. And then I found myself thinking what a
pitiful life this woman must have led. Imagine a woman who could never see
herself as she was seen in the eyes of her loved one. Carver (p.3) Through the
Progression of the story, we see that the main character starting to form a different
outlook on Robert. When the main character and the blind man are watching
television in silence, a documentary about cathedrals airs on the television
prompting the narrator to ask if the blind man had any idea what a cathedral
actually looks like. Robert is only able to describe the process of it being built but
asks the narrator to describe one to him. As he attempts to describe the cathedrals our
characters are starting to form this bond. After failing miserably Robert then asks if
he and the narrator can draw a Cathedral together. As they draw we as readers start
becoming more aware of the change happening within the narrator. The narrator keeps
drawing with the encouragement from Ralph, as
Why Polytechnic Students Take Up Part Time Jobs
Executive Summary
The main aim of this report is to present the various reasons why polytechnic
students take up part time jobs and develop an analysis. Data for the report was
obtained through a survey with 15 questions and given to 60 respondents.
From the survey findings, it was discovered that a large percentage of polytechnic
students are taking up part time jobs. Reasons for taking up part time jobs are to
earn extra income, daily allowances and for experience. Despite having lessons
during weekdays, some of the polytechnic students still work during weekdays. But
still, majority of the respondents work on Fridays and weekends.
Most of the respondents enjoy working and feel that taking up part time jobs will
benefit them in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be reflected by the survey results itself. Of the 60 respondents, 83% (50
respondents) of them take up part time jobs currently.
There are many reasons as to why polytechnic students take up part time jobs.
Among all the others, the main reason is to earn extra income for their daily
lifestyle activities. This reason is chosen by 42% (25 respondents) of the
respondents. Other reasons are for daily allowance (18%), experience (20%) and for
productive use of time (18%). Polytechnic students have no uniforms when attending
lessons unlike secondary schools and junior colleges. The students will then have to
spend money on clothes and apparels. This can be the main reason why polytechnic
students need to have extra income more than students from secondary school and
junior colleges.
Also, survey also shows that more than half (52%) of the respondents are not
receiving monthly allowance from their parents. With no monthly allowance, it is a
must for them to work for money to cover their expenses. As for the rest (48%) of the
respondents who are still receiving allowance from their parents, 69% (20
respondents) of them receive $101 $200.This amount is insufficient for polytechnic
students therefore they need to work for extra income which constitutes such a huge
percentage of the reasons on why they take up part time
Difference Between Counseling And Clinical Psychology
What is the difference between clinical and counseling psychology?
Clinical psychology deal with being able to diagnose and treat any psychological
problems and distress (Kuther Morgan, p20). Clinical psychology also deals with
mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. So disorders that are treat in clinical
psychology is learning disabilities such as dyslexia. Substance abuse such as alcohol,
cocaine, heroin, and LSD. Also depression, anxiety and various eating disorders.
Clinical psychology specializes in disease treatment. When it comes to counseling
psychology, unlike clinical, counseling deals with finding ways for a someone to
improve themselves. This includes emotional, social, vocational, health related,
developmental, and organizational concerns. (Kuther Morgan, p21). Counseling
psychology falls more on the lines of everyday issues. Counseling psychology can
help with physical, emotional, and also mental health issues. Counseling psychology
are able to meet with their patients and being able to teach them how to be able to
manage types of stress, by either enhancing current functioning or by alleviating
distress (Kuther Morgan, p21).
2. What are some of the other mental health professions? The other mental health
professions mentioned are programs in Marriage and family therapy(MFT),
rehabilitation counseling programs, social work programs (Kuther Morgan, p22).
Marriage and family therapist can treat depression, marital problems,

Theological Themes Found In The Book Of Job
THEOLOGICAL DIVERSITY IN THE WISDOM LITERATURE OF THE OLD
TESTAMENT
When the writers of the Wisdom Literature began to compose their works, they did
so using metaphors. They existed in a world with various worldviews. They had to
find a way to reconstruct the false views of those around them. The use of
imagination allowed the sages to breakdown commonly head ideals and view and
reconstruct them via narrative or saying. This is not to say that the narratives in this
genre are not true. The are, yet the way the narrative are composed allow one to
understand how things really work. This essay seeks to discuss the various
theological themes found within the Wisdom Literature.

There is a lot of talk about the vanity of life and what happens under the sun. It
emphasizes that the human spirit seeks to find meaning and purpose in life. The
writer informs his readers that he had tried all things to find meaning, purpose, and
satisfaction in life, yet to no avail. Dorsey believes the structure of Ecclesiastes is a
chiasm. The center of the chiasm hinges on the idea of the fear of the Lord. The
book closes with the statement of fearing the Lord and keeping His commandments.
Therefore, the main theological concept is that the purpose in life is fear God and
keeping his commandments.
Song of Songs
The book of Song of Songs emphasizes the relationship that God designed for
mankind in the marriage relationship. Many have interpreted this book allegorically,
pertaining to Christ and the Church. Unfortunately, interpretation must not be made
allegorically. Therefore, the theology found within the book of Song of Songs
emphasizes the marriage relationship. Merrill notes, Its purpose is to glorify romantic
love and to celebrate the purity of sexual intimacy within the bonds of married life.
Clearly Wisdom Literature has a lot to teach about God. It is clear that this genre is
theologically rich and varied. There is one main theme that corresponds to Wisdom.
It is the fear of the Lord. Doing so will lead one to Wisdom that will show the way to

Family Is An Definition Of Family
What is a family? The definition of family can be defined in many different ways.
According to Merriam Webster s definition of family is, A group of people related
to each other (Merriam Webster 1). Although family can be defined as a relative, it
can also mean a group of people who share the qualities of a family, such as caring,
loving, and supportive. When playing in a team sport, it is necessary that all of the
teammates share a special bond. During the previous volleyball season, the team
struggled to find a connection between the players because they had never played
together nor were all of them friends outside of volleyball. As the season progressed,
the bond between all of the players grew despite some challenges. The team... Show

The sister and brother had different views about women in ministry, for she is a
minister herself, but what matters most is that they got past their disagreements to
work together for a fellow family member. They could have just decided to have
one of them plan the wedding if they were unable to come to an agreement, but
they got past it. The siblings were able to have a loving relationship through
communication, support, and compromise. To add, Some people face similar
situations when they are coming out to their family if they are gay or lesbian. In
fact, it has been proven better for their health. According to an article titled, Coming
Out as Gay Can Have Health Benefits If Family is Supportive: Study describes a
recent study done by Boston University School of Public Health about the positive
effects of coming out. It reads, Two thirds of lesbian, gay and bisexual adults in a
representative Massachusetts sample experienced significantly less mental health and
substance abuse problems if they received positive support from their parents after
coming out (The Huffington Post 1). Evidently, a supportive family has some life
changing effects to their children and their sexuality because if the family is not
supportive, it can cause problems like drugs and suicidal thoughts. Additionally, a
family should not only

REL 261 THEOLOGY II: SPIRIT AND CHURCH BY MO HICKMAN APRIL
7TH, 201 Introduction The Doctrine of the Lord s Supper is a central part of
church life and ecclesiology. During the Lord s Supper, the Church shares in the
bread and the cup in remembrance of Christ and proclaim[s] the Lord s death until
He comes. Theologians have disagreed on what happens to the bread and wine and
the role of the Supper. In this paper, I will outline the basis of the Doctrine of the
Lord s Supper and briefly describe its biblical context. I will then explain how the
doctrine was developed during the first centuries and the reformation. I will
conclude by briefly describing the different views held by the Catholic, Reformed,
and Protestant traditions. Outline of the Doctrine The Lord s Supper was ordained
by Christ at the Last Supper. Stott writes that, whenever we share in the Lord s
Supper, his sacrifice on the cross is remembered, partaken of, proclaimed,
acknowledged as the ground of our unity, and responded to in grateful worship. The
Lord s Supper is about the cross and remembering Christ s sacrifice through which
salvation is made available. The Lord s Supper is considered the second act of
commitment to Christ s body the Church, after baptism. The Lord s Supper
repeatedly acknowledges that one has been saved through their faith in Christ and
that they are a member of
Themes Of The Setting Sun
One of the major themes of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun is the socioeconomic
fall of aristocracy in Japan following World War II. The title itself reflects these core
themes: when the Japanese write down the name of their home country in Kanji (one
of its three alphabets), it roughly means land of the rising sun . The Setting Sunis an
allegory that the glory days of Japan have come to an end, specifically their ancient
aristocracyand their old families, as well as Japanese culture. The comfortable
bourgeoisie becomes the hard working proletariat and the historical situation changes
as the material circumstances changes. This social and economic change is both
subtly and unsubtly shown through the main characters flashbacks and stories;
Kazuko and her family come from a long line of aristocrats but now face the reality
of living without power or status. Following three major events the death of Kazuko s
father, Kazuko s divorce to her wealthy husband, and the nation wide economic crisis
caused by the war the family finds themselves out of money and out of luck,
challenging the way they formerly viewed the world, themselves, and their class.
Through their mother s incompetence, Kazuko s difficulty in working, and Naoji s
existential crises, Dazai deconstructs the classist ideals that claim the wealthy gained
their status and capital because of hard work, strength, intelligence, and personal
superiority while remaining sympathetic toward the upper classes.
The mother was akin to a doll; she was beautiful, fragile, and unargumentative. Her
submissive personality type made her a commodity; she was valued not for
achievements or usefulness, but for her perfect behavior and classic beauty. The
way she dressed and ate made her the last of the true aristocrats, or as Naoji
describes, the genuine article (4) and she had high sign exchange value in herself.
But after the death of her husband, Kazuko s father, it is clear that she had little
practical skill, a fact even Kazuko admits. Mother understands less of money matters
than a child... (17). Naoji and I had taken advantage of her to grow up without
concerning ourselves about anything. Now Mother no longer had any money (20).
This shows that the
Summary Of The First Case Of Edward De Vere
The first case made for Edward De Vere was first made in 1918 by a man named J.
Thomas Looney. Looney was a Gateshead schoolmaster and later became famous
for his publication of Shakespeare Identified. He first started his research on
Shakespeare because he was absolutely convinced that Shakespeare was a
pseudonym, but he was not convinced that Sir Francis Bacon was the real author.
After this realization, Looney went on to make a list of eighteen characteristics the
real Shakespeare must have had. Through his research, he decided to search for
Elizabethian poets and writers, and that is where he discovered Edward De Vere or
the 17th Earl of Oxford. When Looney read De Vere s poem Women he was finally

Cloth Diapers Research
My topic is the diaper. My central idea is disposable and cloth diapers for babies.
Disposable diapers were important because you didn t have to wash your diapers
anymore and they were good for the go. These were so successful because everyone
needed them for their babies because they were easy to use. The site DiaperJungle
said, Cloth diapers were generally the only option available. Which leads to everyone
buying them for gere babies. First, www.diaperjungle.com said, The first disposable
absorbent pad used as a diaper was made from unbleached creped cellulose tissue
(held in rubber pants) in 1942. So the first waterproof cloth diapers didn t come until
1946. So from 1946 and and the years before then they had to work with just diapers

Because we all needed them and no one really realizes that at all. Today diapers are

people need to notice that. This is why to lots of people diapers are the best invention

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rail Mode
Rail mode is the mode of transport which has the highest passenger capacity and
cargo capacity; out of all the modes of land transport available such as bus mode,
private vehicle mode, motor bike mode, bicycle mode, etc. The total number of
passengers or the total volume of cargo rail mode can carry at any given time is very
high compared to any other mode of land transportavailable. And not only the total
capacity, but also the unit capacity of rail mode is very high compared to any other
mode of land transport. Therefore sometimes, rail mode may be the only mode of
land transport which can cater the transportation of project cargo and over dimension
cargo.

A Land Rembered by Patrick D. Smith Essay
The novel, A Land Remembered, is the epic saga of three generations of MacIveys.
The novel begins with a flash back, from the last generation MacIvey, Sol. Sol was
a real estate tycoon in Miami and the surrounding areas. He has chosen to give up
his life in Miami to live his last hours in the cabin in Punta Rassa , Florida; the cabin
his grandfather had built. Thus, the three generations of MacIveys in Florida ends.
The first generation of MacIveys consisted of the father and husband, Tobias, the
mother and wife, Emma, and their young son, Zech. The family had decided to
escape the pressures of the Civil War in their native Georgia, and move to the scrub
of Northern Florida. The MacIveys experience many troubles and learn many new ...

The MacIveys begin to make drives often where many events take place, such as
Tobias and Zech meeting the Indians in the Everglades, Zech meeting Glenda, his
wife, and Tawanda, his Indian lover, and the beginning of Tobias citrus empire.
The first generation MacIveys acquire land and prosper but eventually Emma dies,
and Tobias soon follows. The second generation involves Zech, Glenda, and their
son Sol, who concentrate on citrus and acquire valuable land in what is now
Miami and Biscayne Bay. Glenda dies in a freak accident with a cow, and Zech
dies crossing a flooded stream and drowning. Sol leaves Kissimmee to start a
vegetable business in the everglades which prospers. Sol meets Bonnie, but never
marries her because he saw his father and grandfather mourn over their wives, yet
she lives with him. Bonnie dies in a hurricane and Sol retires to his mansion on
Biscayne Bay where he lives his years in solitude, until he decides he needs to move
back to the cabin in Punta Rassa.
The character of Tobias, in my opinion, was the most influential character of the
book. His personality was that of a strong willed cracker trying to live and make it in
the uncharted lands of Florida. A particular occurrence of Tobias being strong willed
was a scene where Tobias was driving cows over railroad tracks. A train came and ran
over some of his cows. After a period of exchanging words, Tobias picked up his gun
and blew a huge gash in the boiler of
An Analysis Of Yiyun Li s Book, Gold Boy, Emerald Girl,...
Yiyun Li s collection of short stories in Gold Boy, Emerald Girl share the common
theme of loneliness in a collection of short stories: Souvenir, Sweeping Past, and A
Man like Him. While the characters of each story encounter different hardships and
tragedies, each character seemed to show development. At first glance, they seemed
to have grown from their experiences. However, they eventually fall into a downward
spiral of regret and sorrow after having epiphanies of their mistakes. The identifiable
protagonists grief stricken experiences dramatically shift their perspective, becoming
hopeless in the harsh reality they have grown accustomed to.
Throughout the short stories, characters endure circumstances that allow them to
realize the unfairness of the world, ultimately causing a change in attitude. In
Souvenir, the protagonist finds herself in a shop purchasing a pack of condoms for
her mentally ill boyfriend while being followed by an old man. With the belief that
sacrificing something precious of herself such as her virginity, the teenager initially
felt that her love could save him from his mental illness. Those in the store around
her, however, forced humiliation upon her, especially the elderly man. Finally
becoming aware to those around her, she has an epiphany of those surrounding her in
addition to the society she lives in. Witnessing the differences in people s behaviors
and attitudes, she grasps the understanding that people are influenced by others
Character Analysis Of Jimmy Tock In Life Expectancy By...
There are many professions in life to work in. There is business, construction, and
entertainment just to name a few. Sometimes, a profession reflects the person who
is working in it. In the book Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz the main character,
Jimmy Tock, is a Baker. Jimmy Tock considers himself a lummox, not in the sense
of being stupid but just being large. It is part of his character that factors into his
personality. Usually big, husky people are seen as being more aggressive or more
arrogant due to their large overpowering size. However, Jimmy Tock is far from this.
He is like a kind giant who is patient and caring. And being a baker, his view on life
and certain situations are very different than most people. What I mean by this is
that a baker s life is different than most of ours. In this case, Jimmy is part of a
family bakingbusiness, so he s not working in a large factory or large restaurant. He
works at their own bakery which is owned by his dad Rudy Tock. An average day for
a baker, specifically Jimmy Tock, starts bright and early at 4:00 A.M. so they can get
to the bakery and start preparing the day s bakery products by 5am. Usually their first
job of the day is to sanitise the kitchen area and prepare the dough to make the baked
goods like breadand buns. They then get their inventory in check to make sure they
are ready for the day. Once that s done, the Bakers can begin to mix the ingredients
needed for the products. Baking generally begins at 7am.

2.2 Assembly with standardize reference fitting Prior to any testing of luer fittings,
the fittings must be first assembled to a standardized reference fitting typically
made of stainless steel. Examples of reference fittings of different figures used for

This is because sterility stored in the liquid or fluid in a medical device must be
strictly uncompromised. To carry out this test, the luer fitting is to be tested by
being assembled to a reference fitting using the equipment showed in section 2.2.
For this test, the fitting is assembled by applying an axial force not exceeding 27.5
Newtons (N) while applying a torque not exceeding 0.12 Newton meters (Nm). The
assembled part is then fluidized by introducing water into the assembly to expel all
the air out. In a horizontal position, the outlet of the assembly is sealed and a water
pressure of 300 kilo pascals (kPa) to 330kPa is applied to the assembly for at least 30
seconds. The luer fitting passes the test if there are no visual observations of water
leakage sufficient to form a falling drop seen from the assembly. The water pressure
can be generated by compressing water in a syringe with a 2000 pounds capacity
compressing machine and using a pressure gauge to determine the pressure, the set up
is shown in figure 7.
2.3.3 Air Leakage test
The air leakage test has a similar purpose as the liquid leakage test, which is to
prevent the sterility of the sealed liquid in the medical device from leaking. For this
test, the fittings are also assembled by applying an axial force not exceeding 27.5N
while applying a torque not exceeding 0.12Nm. Again, the assembly is fluidized to
Cinematography In Into The Wild
Into the wild Blog
Into the Wild is a film directed in 2007 by the controversial film writer and actor
Sean Penn. It is based upon Jon Krakauer s non fiction book Into the wild . The film
follows the idealist Christopher McCandless on his journey to find peace and
happiness. Some people might argue that McCandless was a reckless narcissist who
brought great sorrow to his family and troubled the law enforcers. I am no
professional analysist, but I think that McCandless was perceived as a noble but
misguided idealist. Film techniques such as cinematography, mise en scene, and
lighting used throughout the film support my judgement of McCandless.
Cinematography plays a huge part in portraying McCandless s journey. In the film, a
variety of camera shots are used to describe the setting and emotions of scenes.
Before exploring cinematography and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To put it simply, McCandless wanted peace, ultimate freedom, happiness, and most
importantly, a sense of adventure. He thought his materialistic parents and the corrupt
society were preventing him from satisfying those desires, thus, he departed into the
wild. This of course, was not a practical decision. Cinematography is used to show
these emotions in scenes throughout the film. At the beginning scenes of the film,
McCandless is shown riding on a train with close up shots of the side of the trains
which show McCandless s made up name Alexander Supertramp written in chalk.
The next few scenes show medium shots of moving trucks. The train scene
featuring close up shots of McCandless s name implying that he is free to be
himself freedom. The moving train create a sense of adventure and the use of
trucks create a feeling of progress and change. Close up shots of McCandless are
used at the time of his death. These shots show a distressed McCandless who realises
his ideals would lead to his death. Close ups are also used to show his diary entries
Does Proof Exists that Extraterrestrial life Visited Earth
Does life exist on other planets besides Earth? Has extraterrestrial life visited Earth
recently or in our distant past? The notion of extraterrestrial life is a very
intriguing subject possibly for as long as mankind has looked into the vast
heavens gazing at the stars. Can one say that life on Earth was done by Mother
Nature which some call evolution? Is life on Earth the result of creation or
alteration by a higher power or being? Some people do believe that other forms of
life except those on Earth do exist. Others consider it false because there is no
absolute proof beyond doubts. There have been countless occurrences by
individuals around the world of either being contacted or abducted by alien life
forms. Many unofficial accounts describe the Earth as being visited by one or
more alien species. These various alien species that possibly visited Earth may be
interested in observing the development of the human species. Nevertheless there
have been many discussions of government cover ups. Scientists and astronomers
are not officially agreeing with what is explained as evidence provided by the
supporters of life forms other than mankind visiting or inhabiting Earth. In the
current era Area 51 (Cited from Wikipedia Area 51 is owned by the federal
government and was established by the CIA in 1955 to develop classified military
projects.) has been the focus of movies and alleged news reports of alien abductions,
aliens and alien aircraft sightings. My mind questions
Compaq Essay
ntroduction
A brand is what differentiates one s product from those of the competitors. In a
market where there is not much product differentiation it s the brand name that
drives the business for the company. Laptop Industry in India is no different. Today
Laptop industry is proliferated by many brands but almost 70% of the market is
shared among HP, Dell Lenovo. So what makes these brands tick? If you see a
decade ago these brands were not so popular. While many brands have come up in
recent past many have lost their value and have faded away.
Compaq was one such brand. It was a well known brand once but has faded away in
the face of rising stiffing competition.

Also the design or the Aesthetics aspect was very poor and so was the customer
service. The Technology of the laptopwas also outdated. All these factors contributed
to the downfall of Compaq brand.
Segmentation Analysis
The laptop industry could be categorized in to two segments. Consumer segment
Commercial Segment. Compaq in 2000 s focused on both the segments. But rise of
Dell, Lenovo forced Compaq to shift its focus on consumer segment. HP was also
targeting the same segment. So Compaq was concentrated on the lower income group
of the consumer segment.
Compaq therefore was targeted mainly towards the college going students. But
this group was a group where performance, aesthetics as well as technology was of
the utmost importance. From the survey it was observed that the Age Group 20 30
years have rated Compaq bad in terms of Style/Design, Specifications, and
Customer Service Overall Product Appeal. From the survey it was also observed
that Compaq was rated highly by this group in terms of Price. But was rated low in
terms of the performance. Many of the other variables in which it was rated highly
were Hangs too much, Laptop was slow, Battery backup was bad and configurations
outdated i.e. the performance of the
Core Training Principles
The 3 core principles of Compliance include Advisory, Training Monitoring.
Compliance is everyone s responsibility. Each employee is expected to be aware of
the regulatory requirements and what they must do to achieve compliance in the
context of their roles. This can be achieved through effective training. MAS

Daily Life In Elizabethan England
My eyes fluttered as the sun crawled into the gaps not covered by my eyelids. I
could smell the fresh sweets being cooked by the servants. The lace curtains
swayed back and forth as the fresh air weaved throughout the room, adding a new
aroma of fruit. The sweet smell of the fruit dispersed throughout my room. I
grabbed the dainty lace cover and moved it with grace. Sitting up quickly, I blinked
multiple times to allow my eyes adjust to the light. Today would be a thrilling and
riveting day. My husband and I were invited to appear at the theater. He had asked
me to accompany him yesterday and I had gladly accepted. I had told my friends I
would be there. A servant then knocked on the thick wooden door, interrupting my

Indian Nationalsim Essay
Indian Nationalsim
Indian nationalism was not a simple unification of Indians against colonial rule.
There were many complexities involved in forming an organization that sought to
speak on behalf of the people, and many of these challenges were posed to the Indian
National Congress because their leadership consisted of the Hindu elite. In 1885, the
Indian National Congress was formed through the initiative of Allen Octavian Hume,
and it quickly became the chief organization representing the will of the common
people and sought to lead the Indians in their struggle for freedom. The major
drawbacks of the early nationalists was that the movement was confined to educated
Indians and the middle class, while their method of ... Show more content on

On October 16, 1905, Lord Curzon partitioned Bengal on the pretext of it being too
big to administer. Instead of dividing it based on areas not considered part of Bengal,
they based the division on Hindus and Muslims. The British thought that through the
partition, they would succeed in dividing Hindu politicians of western and eastern
Bengal and increase Hindu Muslim tensions. The tremor of partition was felt
throughout India and many regarded it as an insult and challenge to Indian
Nationalism. Consequently, the moderates of the Congress launched movements and
the protests, Swadeshi and Swaraj, became the slogan of the common man and the
whole of India was drawn into the Nationalist movement in one way or another.
For many Muslims, the only way to respond to the British and the Congress was
through the formation of the All India Muslim League in 1906. This acted as a
direct challenge to the National Congress authority to speak on behalf of the nation.
The Congress was also facing challenges because they continually tried to
depolitisize the internal social problems of India, and focus on the problems of
British Raj. While the Congress called for mass action they were also implying elite
control, and more peasants were becoming worried that their concerns would not be
addressed.
The Congress was now faced with the problem of not only addressing the peasants
concerns, but also securing them as members of the movement. Up until this point
they had systematically

Acoustic Theory and Synthesis
Frequency:
Frequency means the number of cycles per second and depending on the amount of
cycles per second determines how high or low pitched the sound is and the time
that it takes to complete one cycle is called the period. Frequency is measured in
Hertz (Hz). And An average human is able to hear sounds between 20Hz and
20,000Hz.
As the cycles per second increases, the smaller the wavelengths become, therefore
there is a higher frequency which will cause the pitch of the sound to increase or get
higher.
If there is frequency of say 20KHz then it is going to be a much higher pitch than a
20Hz because there is a lot more cycles per second.
Fundamentals:
A fundamental is the lowest frequency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Genetic Testing or Genetic Screening
Genetic testing, also known as screening, is a rapidly advancing new scientific field
that can potentially revolutionize not only the world of medicine, but many aspects
of our lives. Genetic screening is the sequencing of human DNA in order to discover
genetic differences, anomalies, or mutations that may prove pathological. As genetic
screening becomes more advanced and easily accessible, it presents society with
difficult questions that must be asked about the boundaries of science and to what
degree we are allowed to tamper with the human genome. To better understand the
potential impact of genetic screening on our society, we must examine the potential
benefits in comparison to the possible negative impact it may cause. With this... Show

335). There are many reasons to support further research into genetic screening but
unfortunately such a complicated and controversial field also brings up ethical,
legal and social issues that need to be addressed. One of the greatest issues
surrounding genetic screening is one of privacy and potential discrimination.
Some people fear that a predictive test that shows someone is at higher risk of
developing a particular condition can be used against said person. Employers
could become interested in knowing the probabilities of their workers developing
chronic conditions, which might lead to hiring discrimination. Genetic
predispositions towards certain diseases could also be used to deny health
insurance to some individuals. This may seem unlikely but it is an issue that
definitely warrants concern. Brynne Stainsby s father was diagnosed with the gene
that causes degenerative brain disorder, meaning she had one in two odds of
developing Huntington s disease. When preparing to start her own chiropractic
practice she learned that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get
covered if she possesses this same gene. Simply coming from a family that was
predisposed to Huntington s disease was enough to disqualify her from life or
disability insurance. Many people find it hard to believe that such discrimination
could occur in a country as
Essay on Obesity Alters Gut Microbial Ecology
A common theme among the concerns of today s American citizens is that of
obesity. Obesity, identifiable by abnormal fat accumulation, can be defined in
absolute terms by one who has a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 30. It is estimated
that over 30 percent of American adults are clinically obese. This number has shown
a dramatic increase from the 15 percent of American adults suffering from obesity in
1980. Globally, 400 million adults are obese, while predictions place this number at
700 million by 2015. The major issue confronting this adiposity is the health
conditions that accompany states of extreme obesity. These include cardiovascular
diseases, diabetes, sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis among others. The escalating

* These microorganisms help in extracting calories from polysaccharides in our
diet. * They are able to break up polysaccharides that we would otherwise not be
able to hydrolyze. * Studies in mice, which also have large numbers of microbes
living in their guts, have shown that there may be a link between storing energy as
fat and microbial activity. * It is thought that the microbes regulate the expression
of the gut protein fasting induced adipocyte protein (FIAF). This protein is an
inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase (LPL). * If the microbes suppress FIAF, then the
level of LPL increases. * Increased LPL levels enhance fat storage (make an
individual fatter). * There exists a highly adapted range of bacteria present in the
human gut that are inherited maternally.
The hypothesis:
Obesity may be linked to differences in the microbial makeup of each individual.
Individuals prone to obesity may possess microbes that are more efficient at
extracting energy from food than lean individuals.
Questions addressed by the experiment:
* How does the structure of the gut microbial community differ between individuals?
* Does being a member of the same family affect the microbial community? * Does
obesity affect the community structure? If so, at what taxonomic level does this
occur, and does the gut community
The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age
During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age,
there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters
to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political
character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having
many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really
see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were.
One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both
the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part
in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was
known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English
Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards,
and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were
the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the
Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic
tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of
Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his
efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he
wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted
Europe to become fuller of culture and intellectual

  • 2. Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon this question What is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K. Chesterton answered The fatal metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of growth, which means leaving things inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of quotations of a man who never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something about everything and say it better than everybody else. This is a journey to understand a genius and the Nightmare that he is well known for even over one hundred years after it was written. G.K. Chesterton cannot be summed up in one sentence, or in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most profoundly, powerfully, and effectively. He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism. In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc, and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life. From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles. He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert Browning (1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a number of Belloc s light works. Chesterton spoke of himself as

Job Analysis Project Conducting my research for this class project, I have learned that conducting a thorough job analysis is an important step in filling a job opening as well as contributing to the successful growth of an organization in terms of finances and talented workers. A job analysis should be conducted to gather information about the responsibilities, duties, skills of a particular job. In addition, it can include information about the work environment and desired education and experience. The Influence Of Gays In The Military Introduction Our military is deeply rooted in history, and looking back, it is very clear those who served in World War I and even World War II were successful thanks to the laws then preventing females or homosexuals to serve their country in combat. Since then, our military has made changes not only in how to conduct combat operations, but who may serve, and more importantly who may see action in the air and on the ground as first line defenders. During these early periods, our military member s sleeping quarters were open bay, and the lavatories were also open as well as the showers. Additionally, there was stereotyping occurring and men were to go to combat and the women remained at home and cared for the family and work in the factories to provide supplies to those in combat. Women and homosexuals were able to serve their country, however, for women they were not allowed to fill certain jobs due to the combat requirements of those jobs. On the other hand, men who were homosexuals were serving in all areas and for both male and female homosexuals, they could not identify or tell others their sexual preference, as they would face punishment and then discharged from the military. Just within the past few years, the removal of any Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) and homosexual identity within the Department of Defense is now part of our military history. Eliminating these inequalities within this elite organization continues to make the United States

  • 7. The Necklace Analysis One may wonder how she feels; as if it was all worth it to her now? When she sits to reflect on the evening of January 18th which was filled with beautiful dresses and the succulent food, is she remorseful? In the story The Necklace the main character, Mathilde loses her friend s necklace that she assumed was made of diamonds. It goes into detail as to how her and her husband Loisel worked tirelessly to replace the garment over the course of 10 years. The theme of this essay is to reveal who is truly at fault for the downfall of Mathilde, comparing society s views, her husband s actions, the involvement of Madame Forestier, and finally Mathilde herself. Just as our current society; many individuals during Mathilde s era follow the trends of clothing, decorating, and even technology. In the story, Maupassant elegantly describes the Antechambers hung with Oriental tapestry, illuminated by tall bronze candelabra. (Maupassant 42) Equally important, Mathilde allowed for the influence and ideas of what would make her appealing to the rest of society affect her everyday life. For example, she frequently daydreamed of a life of grandeur in her head such as the Long reception halls hung with ancient silk. (Maupassant 42) Moreover, she frequently would compare herself to those who were better off financially allowing for her to feel unsatisfied and place a sense of false guilt on her husband. The author made it clear as to what she valued by including She had no gowns, no

After taking AP Environmental Science, I was exposed to a different point of view of the science world that impacted my perspective on my own actions. Indeed, basic concepts like the atmospheric layers and food chains that I learned about in middle school were reviewed in the course. However, the class was more than learning about specific subjects and reviewing content from the past. It didn t just teach me about energy, demographics, or any other scientific topics. That is more than half the number of people that died in World War I. The book Maus by Art Spigelman tells the story of a man who was a victim of and lived through the Holocaust. The Digestive System Of Digestion Essay Digestion is the breaking apart of foods into smaller and smaller units and absorbtion is the movements of those small units from the gut into the bloodstream or lymphatic system for circulation. (1) The digestive system is what keeps you going from day to day because without the digestive system you wouldn t be able to consume anything. You also wouldn t be able to absorb the necessary nutrients you need for your body to keep functioning correctly. The organs that play a role in the digestive systemis the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, appendix, rectum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and the anal canal. The mouth is where it all starts. Before you even take a bite of your food, the smell of the food is what triggers your salivary glands which include the parotid, sublingual, and submandibular glands in your mouth making it start to water. Your saliva increases when you taste the food. When you chew the food into smaller pieces the enzyme amylase breaks food into small sugar molecules. To start fat digestionanother enzyme is released at the base of the tongue called lingual lipase. A bolus is easy to swallow and is formed when saliva and other fluids in the mouth mixed with mucous. As shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in the square box with the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of the cylindrical container. Organizational Behavior Defined Organizational Behavior Defined Introduction It is reasonable to suggest that the overwhelming majority of humankind has either been part of or required the services of organizations at some point in time during their lives, and many of these consumers will likely testify that although every organization is different in some ways, they all share some common characteristics. Furthermore, because all organizations are comprised of mere humans, they are subject to the same behavioral whims, weaknesses and vagaries that also characterize the human condition from day to day and over time. To gain further insights into these concepts, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to develop a comprehensive and robust definition of organizational behavior. This review is followed by a summary of the research and salient findings in the conclusion. Review and Discussion As the term indicates, organizational behavior describes how people interact in a workplace setting to achieve a common goal or purpose. In this regard, Kelly and Kelly (1998) emphasize that, Organizational behavior is essentially concerned with what people do in organizations (p. 4). Therefore, defining organizational behavior requires a consideration of how people actually behave in workplace settings at a given point in time as well as over time (Miner, 2002). As Kelly and Kelly point out, A good working definition of organizational behavior is the systematic study of

Originally published in French in 1942 as Le Mythe de Sisyphe, It was translated into English by Justin O Brien in 1955. Camus in this essay introduces his concept of the absurd . He talks of man s futile search for meaning, unity, and clarity. He states that for man the world becomes an unintelligible space which is devoid of God, moral ethics and eternal truths. In such a situation one is forced to contemplate Is suicide the only way out hence? Camus is of the opinion that by revolting against the absurdity of life one can overcome absurdity. Camus goes on to discuss the similarities between Sisyphus and modern day man s life. Sisyphus was punished by the God s to eternally push a boulder up the hill just to see it roll back down. The essay concludes, The struggle itself [...] is enough to fill a man s heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy. Camus addresses the issue of man s aspirations for a better tomorrow, without realizing that each day brings him closer to his ultimate reality: death. Death is the ultimate reality of all mankind something one fails to acknowledge in one s lifetime. The world once stripped of its ideal romanticism, is a strange, inhuman and foreign place. True knowledge is impossible and not everything can be reasoned or answered through science. From the moment absurdity is recognized, it becomes a passion, the most harrowing of all. Everyone faces conflict of some sort in their lives, whether it be an argument over which sibling gets to sit in the front seat of the car on the way to school, or a potentially dangerous confrontation that necessitates an immediate reaction. Bartoletti writes about how one German girl faced conflict during World War Two, and Wiesel shares his personal experience as a Jew in a concentration camp. Both works show that the most important aspect of facing a conflict is the way in which a person chooses to deal with it. One could react to conflict by becoming angry or sullen, shouting or going silent, or simply pouting. None of these reactions are the best some can even be counterproductive to one s goals. Throughout the book themes such as wealth, love, social class, look at America and past memories contributes to the meaning of who and what the great gatsby is. Society and class was one major theme that contributed to the meaning of The Great Gatsby. In the 1920 s Americans were either rich or poor, partying or working, living with the wealth or struggling to make ends meet. During this time, America was facing a time of division between social class. The social class you were placed in depended on who your parents were and how much they made was who you were going to be and how you were going to look at society. Society and class are two major different components faced in this books. There were those of higher class who didn t have to work and could amuse themselves with any sort of fancy all day long. Gatsby is low class male who is higher up society based on the money that he makes and works for. When I came back from the East last autumn I felt that I wanted the world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever; I wanted no more riotous excursions with privileged glimpses into the human heart. Summary Of Symbolism In The Cellist Of Sarajevo The Utilization of Symbolism to Manifest a Message In literature, it is common for authors to apply different stylistic techniques in order to assist in providing the readers with a message. This idea is prominent in Steven Galloway s The Cellist of Sarajevo, a novel which follows the story of three characters in the war torn city of Sarajevo. Despite the fact that the characters never meet, they are each unified by a cellist and the song he plays for twenty two days to honour the citizens who lost their lives while waiting in line for bread. Throughout the book, a recurring idea is that of hope for the futureof Sarajevo, which is shown through the contrast of symbols from the beginning of the novelto the end, the cellist himself, and the adagio that the cellist plays. It is evident from the meaning created through objects and people that Galloway is able to use symbolism to enhance the idea that a city which once was destroyed can still be repaired. The first significant method which Galloway uses to prove his idea is by elaborating on the idea of finding new hope for Sarajevo. By utilizing contrasting symbols in the beginning and end of the novel, he is able to demonstrate the change from having lack of faith for the future, to obtaining an improved ideology for the fate of the city. At the start of the novel, Dragan, a protagonist of the story, describes the city as a peculiar shade of grey. He s not sure where it came from, if it was always there and the war has

  • 26. Kowloon Walled City Essay The plans and narratives of the Kowloon Walled City have drastically changed through the years, as it has been an unrolled and unregulated enclave between the British and Chinese governments. It began as an officially planed Chinese military fort and afterwards witnessed three distinct stages of lawlessness, demolition and rebirth as an urban garden. It all officially began in the 16th century, when the Chinese built a defensive garrison town filled with soldiers, civil officers and their families (Carney, 2013). However, when Hong Kongwas leased to the British in 1898, the Kowloon Walled Citybecame a enclave in the colonized territory, where no laws of the official state applied and everything began expanding spontaneously. The first stage of the city s unintentional self organization began in the 1950 s. It is widely known as the time of three vices gambling, prostitution and drug dealing. The official regulations of the British did work on Hong Kong and were reversely reflected in the Chinese enclave. As soon as something was forbidden in the city state, people massively poured into the un ruled territory and let the sins to flourish. This way the Kowloon Walled City became synonymous with violence, crime and disturbance. During this period, the city and people became one, the buildings were connected by piping systems and wires, the water poured through the holes and sunlight could barely reach the lower levels. Yet, in the early 1970 s the situation started changing

Flahtahl s Propaganda Triumph Of The Will ( 1938 ) Since the advent of documentary film with Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North (1922), those with power have sought to use it as a tool in their arsenal to reach people. Advances in communications technology in the early twentieth century allowed it to be used as a one way message delivery system to the masses, however the ways in which this has been implemented have varied hugely based on context and political viewpoint. Through consideration of Leni Riefenstahl s propaganda Triumph of the Will (1935), and Lorentz s advocacy documentary The River (1938) this essay will analyse the concepts of persuasion, education and propaganda in documentary film, discussing the similarities and differences between these areas. It is worth first briefly defining the ideas that this essay will cover, education is at its purest form the provision of information and systematic instruction while persuasion is the attempt to induce change through reasoning. Propaganda, conversely, is non objective/biased information used to promote a point of view. Although on paper the distinctions seem clear, in practical use it quickly becomes apparent how much these lines can blur. If persuasion is a technique that attempts to change viewpoints, how far does it really sit from this idea of propaganda? Both films that will be discussed were produced in the nineteen thirties, a turbulent political landscape where the great depression and high unemployment rates in Europe had put democratic capitalism under

The center of the chiasm hinges on the idea of the fear of the Lord. The book closes with the statement of fearing the Lord and keeping His commandments. Therefore, the main theological concept is that the purpose in life is fear God and keeping his commandments. Song of Songs The book of Song of Songs emphasizes the relationship that God designed for mankind in the marriage relationship. According to Merriam Webster s definition of family is, A group of people related to each other (Merriam Webster 1). Although family can be defined as a relative, it can also mean a group of people who share the qualities of a family, such as caring, loving, and supportive. When playing in a team sport, it is necessary that all of the teammates share a special bond. During the previous volleyball season, the team struggled to find a connection between the players because they had never played together nor were all of them friends outside of volleyball. The siblings were able to have a loving relationship through communication, support, and compromise. To add, Some people face similar situations when they are coming out to their family if they are gay or lesbian. In fact, it has been proven better for their health. The Doctrine Of The Lord s Supper AMBROSE UNIVERSITY THE DOCTRINE OF THE LORD S SUPPER SUBMITTED TO BERNIE VAN DE WALLE IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF REL 261 THEOLOGY II: SPIRIT AND CHURCH BY MO HICKMAN APRIL 7TH, 201 Introduction The Doctrine of the Lord s Supper is a central part of church life and ecclesiology. During the Lord s Supper, the Church shares in the bread and the cup in remembrance of Christ and proclaim[s] the Lord s death until He comes. Theologians have disagreed on what happens to the bread and wine and the role of the Supper. In this paper, I will outline the basis of the Doctrine of the Lord s Supper and briefly describe its biblical context. I will then explain how the doctrine was developed during the first centuries and the reformation. I will conclude by briefly describing the different views held by the Catholic, Reformed, and Protestant traditions. Outline of the Doctrine The Lord s Supper was ordained by Christ at the Last Supper. Stott writes that, whenever we share in the Lord s Supper, his sacrifice on the cross is remembered, partaken of, proclaimed, acknowledged as the ground of our unity, and responded to in grateful worship. The Lord s Supper is about the cross and remembering Christ s sacrifice through which salvation is made available. The Lord s Supper is considered the second act of commitment to Christ s body the Church, after baptism. The Lord s Supper repeatedly acknowledges that one has been saved through their faith in Christ and that they are a member of
  • 37. Themes Of The Setting Sun One of the major themes of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun is the socioeconomic fall of aristocracy in Japan following World War II. The title itself reflects these core themes: when the Japanese write down the name of their home country in Kanji (one of its three alphabets), it roughly means land of the rising sun . The Setting Sunis an allegory that the glory days of Japan have come to an end, specifically their ancient aristocracyand their old families, as well as Japanese culture. The comfortable bourgeoisie becomes the hard working proletariat and the historical situation changes as the material circumstances changes. This social and economic change is both subtly and unsubtly shown through the main characters flashbacks and stories; Kazuko and her family come from a long line of aristocrats but now face the reality of living without power or status. Following three major events the death of Kazuko s father, Kazuko s divorce to her wealthy husband, and the nation wide economic crisis caused by the war the family finds themselves out of money and out of luck, challenging the way they formerly viewed the world, themselves, and their class. Through their mother s incompetence, Kazuko s difficulty in working, and Naoji s existential crises, Dazai deconstructs the classist ideals that claim the wealthy gained their status and capital because of hard work, strength, intelligence, and personal superiority while remaining sympathetic toward the upper classes. The mother was akin to a doll; she was beautiful, fragile, and unargumentative. Her submissive personality type made her a commodity; she was valued not for achievements or usefulness, but for her perfect behavior and classic beauty. The way she dressed and ate made her the last of the true aristocrats, or as Naoji describes, the genuine article (4) and she had high sign exchange value in herself. But after the death of her husband, Kazuko s father, it is clear that she had little practical skill, a fact even Kazuko admits. Mother understands less of money matters than a child... (17). Naoji and I had taken advantage of her to grow up without concerning ourselves about anything. Now Mother no longer had any money (20). This shows that the

He has chosen to give up his life in Miami to live his last hours in the cabin in Punta Rassa , Florida; the cabin his grandfather had built. Thus, the three generations of MacIveys in Florida ends. The second generation involves Zech, Glenda, and their son Sol, who concentrate on citrus and acquire valuable land in what is now Miami and Biscayne Bay. Glenda dies in a freak accident with a cow, and Zech dies crossing a flooded stream and drowning. Sol leaves Kissimmee to start a vegetable business in the everglades which prospers. Sometimes, a profession reflects the person who is working in it. In the book Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz the main character, Jimmy Tock, is a Baker. Jimmy Tock considers himself a lummox, not in the sense of being stupid but just being large. It is part of his character that factors into his personality. Usually big, husky people are seen as being more aggressive or more arrogant due to their large overpowering size. However, Jimmy Tock is far from this. He is like a kind giant who is patient and caring. And being a baker, his view on life and certain situations are very different than most people. What I mean by this is that a baker s life is different than most of ours. In this case, Jimmy is part of a family bakingbusiness, so he s not working in a large factory or large restaurant. He works at their own bakery which is owned by his dad Rudy Tock. An average day for a baker, specifically Jimmy Tock, starts bright and early at 4:00 A.M. so they can get to the bakery and start preparing the day s bakery products by 5am. Usually their first job of the day is to sanitise the kitchen area and prepare the dough to make the baked goods like breadand buns. They then get their inventory in check to make sure they are ready for the day. Once that s done, the Bakers can begin to mix the ingredients needed for the products. Baking generally begins at 7am.

Many people find it hard to believe that such discrimination could occur in a country as
  • 56. Essay on Obesity Alters Gut Microbial Ecology A common theme among the concerns of today s American citizens is that of obesity. Obesity, identifiable by abnormal fat accumulation, can be defined in absolute terms by one who has a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 30. It is estimated that over 30 percent of American adults are clinically obese. This number has shown a dramatic increase from the 15 percent of American adults suffering from obesity in 1980. Globally, 400 million adults are obese, while predictions place this number at 700 million by 2015. The major issue confronting this adiposity is the health conditions that accompany states of extreme obesity. These include cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis among others. The escalating number of obese and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... * These microorganisms help in extracting calories from polysaccharides in our diet. * They are able to break up polysaccharides that we would otherwise not be able to hydrolyze. * Studies in mice, which also have large numbers of microbes living in their guts, have shown that there may be a link between storing energy as fat and microbial activity. * It is thought that the microbes regulate the expression of the gut protein fasting induced adipocyte protein (FIAF). This protein is an inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase (LPL). * If the microbes suppress FIAF, then the level of LPL increases. * Increased LPL levels enhance fat storage (make an individual fatter). * There exists a highly adapted range of bacteria present in the human gut that are inherited maternally. The hypothesis: Obesity may be linked to differences in the microbial makeup of each individual. Individuals prone to obesity may possess microbes that are more efficient at extracting energy from food than lean individuals. Questions addressed by the experiment: * How does the structure of the gut microbial community differ between individuals? * Does being a member of the same family affect the microbial community? * Does obesity affect the community structure? If so, at what taxonomic level does this occur, and does the gut community
  • 57. The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age, there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were. One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards, and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted Europe to become fuller of culture and intellectual
