Max Weber s mother, on the other hand, was just the opposite of his father; she was
highly educated, cultured and deeply religious. She was an upright woman who was

Hamlet vs. Gertrude:
Hamlet is one of the most well known plays of William Shakespeare s. Anyone who
has read the play knows that the plot has so many twists and turns that make it such
an intriguing story. It begins with Hamlet being upset after his father dies of poison.
Queen Gertrude, his mother, remarries quite quickly to Claudius, Hamlet s uncle.
Queen Gertrude doesn t know that Claudius killed her original husband, but Hamlet
assumes that she knows about the murder and that she remarried simply for sexual
desire, which isn t the case. Hamlet s love for his mother quickly turns to hate
because she is so innocent about the situation; he thinks she is pretending to not
know. The increasing failure in relationships fuels Hamlet to plan revenge on King
Claudius. He has to continually adjust his plan throughout the story when Claudius
tries to get rid of him. Hamlet becomes so focused on plotting revenge on Claudius
that he doesn t even notice that he abuses his mother s love for him and it ends up
killing them both in the end.
Hamlet and Gertrude are different in their personality types. According to Keirsey s

His father was a successful lawyer who aspired to be a politician. The elder Weber was said to enjoy the finer things in life and was at times amoral, was a fixture in Berlin s political circle and often entertained prominent politicians and intellectuals in their home. Anyone who has read the play knows that the plot has so many twists and turns that make it such an intriguing story. It begins with Hamlet being upset after his father dies of poison. Queen Gertrude, his mother, remarries quite quickly to Claudius, Hamlet s uncle. Queen Gertrude doesn t know that Claudius killed her original husband, but Hamlet assumes that she knows about the murder and that she remarried simply for sexual desire, which isn t the case. Hamlet s love for his mother quickly turns to hate because she is so innocent about the situation; he thinks she is pretending to not know. The increasing failure in relationships fuels Hamlet to plan revenge on King Claudius. He has to continually adjust his plan throughout the story when Claudius tries to get rid of him.
