An auctioneering control system uses multiple process measurements for a single controlled variable. It selects the most critical measurement to base the control action on. There are three options for selecting the measured variable - high select chooses the highest value, low select chooses the lowest, and medium select chooses the mid value. The auctioneering controller then takes action based on the selected measurement value. Auctioneering control is useful when there are multiple pressure transmitters measuring line pressure and the controller needs to select the highest pressure to reduce pump speed as needed to control discharge pressure.
