Non-Financial Incentives vs. Commission for Retail Employees
Running Title: Non Financial Incentives vs. Commission for Retail Employees BACKGROUND
Learning Express is a franchised educational toy store. We try to operate the store as a team with each
of our employees possessing different skill sets (inventory knowledge, interpersonal skills, tasks). We
also prefer that our more experienced staff take care of the checkout procedure. We also offer
exceptional and more personalized customer service to encourage them to keep coming back as their
toy needs grow and change. We offer customer special shopping opportunities if they spend a certain
amount, sign up for our marketing list or join our Facebook page. We also offer many free or no cost
events for their children such as holiday crafts, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NFIs would be smaller which would hopefully still motivate the employees to sell but would not be
large enough to encourage people from trying to make all the sales by themselves.
RECOMMENDATION The recommendation is an alternative to a commission structure for retail
employees by offering non commission incentives such as: Low cost incentives Discounts on
merchandise We currently allow employees to take a 25% reduction on any purchases. We could offer
30% off their next multiple purchase up to a certain amount or 40% off one item. Company parties
This option could take several forms but it would be important to us to keep it low cost. One option
may be to close early one night and have a potluck. Or have everyone over for a movie night with
popcorn. Tickets/ gift cards This option has been successful in the past with the employees and seems
prudent to continue. We ask the employees from where they would like to receive gift cards. They can
be purchased in small increments, which is appealing to us, the store owners. Employees can work to
get more gift cards and save them up for bigger purchases. Some past favorites have been gas,
groceries, coffee, and movie gift cards. Non monetary incentives Wear jeans to work The employees
have uniforms, polo shirts with khaki pants. Jeans, for many, are more comfortable and relaxed
feeling. We could even post a sign on the door that employees

J. Edgar Hoover Essay
J. Edgar Hoover
Former Senator Joseph McCarthy put it perfectly when he said, ... for the FBI is J. Edgar Hoover and I
think we can rest assured that it will always be. (qtd. in Denenberg 7). J. Edgar Hoover is credited for
reconstructing the Bureau of Investigations (later renamed Federal Bureau of Investigations).
Regardless of how people saw him, Hoover was powerful and committed, and did everything within
his power to improve the agency that would make this country a safer place for all.
John Edgar Hoover was born New Years Day in 1895. After years of education and law school he
started as a third generation government worker in July 1917 as a clerk for the Justice Department
(Denenberg 23,25 26). In 1919 he was promoted to acting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He eliminated the political influence on the department.
Education in law, accounting, languages or science was an earlier requirement that Hoover revived.
Any agent already in office who was not qualified or who had a criminal record was fired (Denenberg
31). Background checks, interviews, and physical testing became required for all new applicants
(Directors). Hoover developed extensive training programs and followed the requirements himself. All
agents had to be in top physical condition, and be of outstanding appearance and character. Drinking
alcohol was prohibited on and off duty (Denenberg 35). Hoover held discipline as the most important
trait. He saw ... an undisciplined law enforcement agency as a menace to society (Hoover 39). For
himself and the people of the FBI, Mr. Hoover set rigid standards of personal behavior. Many agents
who were reluctant to work under the strict guidelines quit (Denenberg 31). He never apologized for
the high standards for agents; he saw it as a necessity for the FBI s success (Hoover 41). To this day,
Hoover s contribution to law enforcement management and training make him one of the greatest in
the law enforcement field.
The agents treated the suspects with integrity and used physiological tactics to get the information
needed. For example, when accused kidnapper John Henry Seadlund was apprehended and taken in
for questioning Hoover ordered his

Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus Essay
Daedalus Devastation There are many ways to interpret the myth Icarus but there will always be some
similar points and differences between them. The painting, Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, was
painted by Pieter Breughel the Elder is one way express his thoughts about the myth. Another
interpretation of the legend Icarus is a poem written by W.H. Auden called, Musée des Beaux Arts.
This infamous fable was about a young adventurous boy falling to his death while escaping prison
with his father, using waxed wings. This two main interpretations have the same theme in mind,
humans tend to ignore situations if they are not applied to them. In the poem, Musée des Beaux Arts,
the poem shows how people will neglect anything bad if it doesn t pertain to them. The speaker in the
poem notices how everything turns away..., (line 14) from a dangerous, horrible or miserable situation.
This connects to everyday life since once humans see something horrible, we would just sympathize
and walk on. For example, like the problem in Africa, humans sympathize that the children are
starving but they don t do anything that much. People don t also realize that suffering can happen
anytime even when you are eating or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both of them, they have mentioned Icarus at least once and none for Daedalus. They also have
noticed about the ship leaving behind a drowning Icarus, even though there was a pretty good chance
they saw Icarus fall. This shows how people gravitate to the easier path than the harder path of helping
people . The difference they had between the two was that in the poem, Auden included everyday life
and Breughel only illustrated ships, people, and cities. They also had different opinions about the
ploughman since Auden believed the ploughman was looking up, but in the painting it was clear that
the ploughman was looking towards the ground, trying to avoid not having to help

‘’A New Prisoner, Sir,’’ George Linsay Lead The Prisoner
A new prisoner, sir, George Linsay lead the prisoner into the office.
Nigel Robertson raised his eyebrows, fiddled with his moustache and glanced at the newcomer in a
meticulous, bewildered sort of manner. He thought this prisoner was not like the others the man
looked so innocent. His cheeks were like fresh, sticky, stretchy marshmallows, slightly toasted and his
blonde hair stuck out in bizarre tufts dotted with dirt, mud and the smell of rose petals. Still growing
up in his mother s arms perhaps? Not a man yet at least. Mr Robertson was an observant, old man,
who has spent 40 years of his life looking at prisoners, guarding them, disgusted by them. His blue
eyes peered above his small, gold rimmed glasses which rested carefully ... Show more content on

18 years of age, 4 years of training... He hesitated. Was the picture on the document of the man
standing in front of him? The nose was slightly bigger, ears slightly small, eyes slightly darker... It was
completely different. Photographs are not accurate, too blurry, he convinced himself. Robertson liked
this man. Strong, muscular, and well built man, just like when he was young.
He handed him a map of the jail and a set of keys.
All the other equipment is in the bag you received earlier today, along with your uniform. I ll leave
you in charge of meal 2,
Yes sir. Thank you, sir he turned and left the room.
The jail had been concealed by the night. Concealed in the black and sinister veil of the night, like a
shroud over a ghostly body. It was a heinous night. It was a heinous and lethal night. the light bulb

IRA Cons
IRA is the stands for an Individual Retirement Account, which is another form of a savings plan. You
can open an IRA through almost any large financial institution, including banks, mutual fund
companies and brokerage firms (Where should I open an IRA). It is a savings account meant for your
retirement. It helps save money for your future so by the time you retire you will have enough to live
off of. There are different types of IRA s to pick and choose from to best fit what the individual needs
along with what they are eligible for as well. The main 3 are Traditional, SEP (Simplified Employee
Pension), and Roth (Internet Retirement Allowance). All of these IRAs have different requirements
and but the one thing they have in common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This IRA is meant for business owners to help contribute toward their employees retirement as well as
their own retirement as well (SEP Plan FAQs). The amount that employers can deposit into this IRA is
up to 15% (Internet Retirement Allowance). The benefits of this IRA are less responsibility, low fees,
tax deferred and tax deductible (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The employee
does not have a lot of responsibility because he or she does not have to put the money into the
retirement account on his or her own; the employer does it directly. While this is helpful to the
employee, the employer gets to deduct the contributions that they make into the fund from their taxes
creating an incentive for them (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). SEP accounts
have reasonable fees; they re not over the top. The last benefit of a SEP IRA is the money you make in
the retirement account from investments is allowed to grow tax free; you do not have to worry about
taxes before you retire (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The disadvantages are
contributions and no guarantees (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The bad thing
about contributions is that the employee does not get a say on how much they want to deposit into
their SEP account; the employer decides for them. The last thing that is a con is that there could be no
requirements for contributions; they employer can pick and chose when they want to make a
contribution to the employees account (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The SEP
IRA is good for employees who do not want the responsibility for putting money into their retirement
account. It is a risky one since the employee will be depending on the employer to do their part of the
contribution. It is important to make sure you have a good employer if you do decide to choose to go

Comparison Of Andy Warhol And Pop Art
Andy Warhol and Pop Art
All paintings are inspirational, but I chose to write about 3 specific paintings by 3 very different
artists. The first of three artists is Andy Warhol and his The Gun painting, the second is Roy
Lichtenstein and his Girl with Ball painting and the third is Robert Rauschenberg with his Migration
painting. In the following report, you will read about the different styles of these artists,
communicative theories, inner state theories, form and content, and how they compare and contrast
among other subjects.
Some of the communicative theories produced by these pictures are very meaningful. The Gun shows
us what Andy Warhol may have felt in his life at the time of the painting. Warhol sees his life ... Show

I begin to appreciate my life a little more when I look at this painting. There seems to be a sense of
lost time by looking at the clock with no hands. A moving cardboard box reminds me of something a
homeless man would sleep in and the soiled shirt would be something a homeless person would wear.
From this, I begin to appreciate my clean clothes and home. Girl with Ball gives me a feeling of being
carefree. She seems to be having fun on the beach, enjoying the sun. This painting produces emotions
that I value such as being carefree and having fun.
All three paintings are very different in their own way in regards to aesthetics. Warhol s The Gun has
few colors, but shows the gun slightly pointing inward towards the viewer. His use of the silk screen
gave the picture imperfections, which make it unique. Lichtenstien s Girl with Ball is one of the most
unique forms of painting I have ever seen done. His use of Benday dots shows an image that looks to
be done by machine. The lines are very distinct and the body of the subject is completely outlined in
black giving an intense feeling. The spatial relationships in the painting bring us to focus on the face
of the girl. Migration has no distinct lines, but with strategically placed items, he brings them all
together with running paint into neighboring areas. The relationships of all the items and their spatial
arrangement only give us more to work with in

How to Become an Effective Hitter Essay
How to Become an Effective Hitter
Babe Ruth is known for his 714 home runs. However, few people realize the other statistic he holds,
which is having the most strikeouts of any player in the major league. This statistic helps to prove
there is only a slight difference between a good hit and a strike. To become a good hitter in baseball,
three fundamentals are necessary. First, the batter s stance in the batter s box, second, the batter s eye
contact on the ball, and third, the batter s swing are the three fundamentals a good hitter will possess.
First, a good stance in the batter s box is required to hit the ball successfully. The stance is not only
important to the hitter, but it informs the defense of the location of ... Show more content on

The knees should not be locked but slightly bent. For example, when I hit, I usually foul a ball down
the first or third base line so the outfielders move accordingly. In our final game of the season against
Middle Georgia College in Cochran when I played softball in college, however, the right fielder was
positioned way off the first base line towards second base. She was reading my even stance as I was
trying to hit the ball up the middle or over second base. She was wrong. At the last minute, I changed
my stance as the ball was coming and hit it right down the first base line. A good stance is important to
becoming a productive hitter.
Second, no matter how perfect the stance, unless a batter has good eye contact, a high batting average
will never be possible. A pitcher can put a large number of different spins on the ball. For example, the
curve ball, the slider, the fast ball, and the knuckle ball move differently. A batter needs to watch the
ball from the time the pitcher releases it until the batter brings the bat around and through the ball. A
batter cannot hit the ball unless one knows what direction the ball is traveling. Sally, a teammate at
Macon College in 1993, was always striking out because at the last minute before swinging the bat she
would close her eyes. After being convinced she could keep her eyes open while swinging, she was

The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Major League Baseball
In Major League Baseball, numerous players have put up tremendous statistics and record breaking
numbers. There are a great amount of players in the league that have done this naturally, however it is
not uncommon to see star players get caught taking performance enhancing drugs or steroids. Steroid
use in baseball has been an issue since the earliest days of the game, and can be seen very frequently
in players today. Jose Canseco was a star hitter in the major leagues, who had admitted to steroid later
in his career. Canseco once estimated that 85% of other players were also taking performance
enhancing drugs. Though that estimate is not proven, there are still many players today that are taking
these steroids, and it needs to remain an issue in the eyes of the MLB. Taking these drugs not only
promotes the risk of significant side effects and health problems to the player consuming them, but it
makes changes to the game itself as well. The way the game is being played has changed over time
due to this issue, and players are receiving advantages that other players are not. Overall, these illegal
drugs are unfair to other players in the game and simply are not safe, and should never become legal
in the league.
Throughout the history of major league baseball we have seen countless astonishing hitters come pass
through, some putting up record breaking numbers, at times too good to be true. Barry Bonds, known
as the homerun king was able to put up an amazing total of 73 home runs in 2001. The very next
season, he continued to present his skill with a .370 batting average. Between 1999 and 2007, Bonds
stats were shocking, hitting 351 home runs, winning four national league MVP awards, and racking up
780 RBI s, 69 stolen bases, and just over one thousand hits. Alex Rodriguez, better known as A rod is
another huge name when talking about the greatest hitters in baseball. For nine seasons out of
Rodriguez s twenty two season career, 8.5% of the balls he would put into play were home runs. By
the end of his lengthy career, he was able to collect 698 home runs, over two thousand RBI s and runs
scored, with over three thousand hits. He was also named All Star fourteen times. With numbers like

Essay on The Molten Core Theory
The Molten Core Theory
The center of the Earth is composed of a solid metallic core surrounded by a molten layer of liquid
metal. This paper will discuss the reasons to believe the theory that the Earth has a molten core, and
the important discoveries that have led to this generally accepted theory. It is very reasonable to agree
with this theory when paying credence to the logical evidence that answers questions about the Earth s
core. This evidence includes information about the elemental make up of the Earth, the reason for the
Earth s magnetic field, and some of the possibilities of the Earth s formation.

This tells them what, and how much of an element should be present in the Earth. This is how
scientists know what is present in the Earth. This is also what allows them to make judgments on what
is present deep inside of the Earth.
A recent study by professor of geology, Xiaodong Song, explains another way to affirm the
composition and structure of the interior of the Earth is through the use of seismic waves. Seismic
waves are waves created by movement in the Earth. These waves can have different properties that
can react with changing densities within the earth. Knowing the different reactions can be used to
determine the density of the earth at the different depths. It is also a powerful tool in determining the
elements present in the earth. Taking into consideration the different ways the waves react to the
elements can provide a clue as to the element that the wave has contacted. Certain seismic waves pass
through the Earth at different speeds, and furthermore, specific elements and compounds in the Earth
cause those waves to disperce differently. The different rates that these waves move at different depths
gives geologist information on the varying densities and compostition of the Earth at the locations.
Through the same basic idea of seismic waves and densities geologist have gathered enough evidence
to believe that the Earth has a solid core, surrounded by molten, metallic, elements. This is determined
from a specific

Greed: How Much is Too Much? Greed naturally drives people to acquire more land, wealth, and

Ray Bradbury s The Veldt . Although the characters in these stories may recognize their excessive

Voltaire s View Of Voltaire
Voltaire was an enlightenment provider who wrote many play and books. He was a famous writer,
who made a lot of money and he wanted money. So everything he accomplished, he did because he
thought people are going to buy for him to be rich. One of his most famous is the story of Candide in
which he wrote to be entertained. The book is a satire in which Voltaire in some way criticizes the
institutions, and the people. Although Voltaire s societies had many advances, this made him criticize
different elements of his societies.
In the 1700s the Europeans had so many advances. They had conquered territories around the world.
They were wealthy and their societies had advanced intellectually. By the 1700s, the Europeans
thought they are at the top and they can get any better than this. This is what makes Voltaire criticize
part of Europeans. Voltaire did satirize different institutions for instance, other philosophers, many
religious people, protestant pastors, and minority groups. He criticizes the church when the old woman
begun saying you must know that I am the daughter of pope Urban X and of the princess of Palestrina
(In chapter 11) . Voltaire explains that there is no pope named Urban X and he uses this opportunity to
condemn the church. He means that the Catholic Church is exceedingly corrupt and it shouldn t be an
institution. He also points out that the church members are indeed silly even though they are taking
vows. Voltaire doesn t understand why people attend this

Sonnet 150 Literary Devices
The Dark Lady and the Troubles That She Causes
Poetry is oftentimes a fascinating bit of literature. In a short amount of time, one is expected to have a
topic and cut to the chase of things. This poem is a sonnet by none other than the legendary
Shakespeare. Sonnet 150 has all the makings of a sonnet with the standardized form that makes it
unidentifiably Shakespeare. The sonnet follows the rhyme scheme of abab cdcd efef gg which shows
three quatrains and one couplet. Sonnet 150 is a one of the later poems that changes significantly from
Shakespeare s earlier works about love and crooning about how magical these feelings are. When
looking at these later poems, we see Shakespeare acknowledging that love has its faults. These
feelings are no longer the perfect centerpiece that can easily blind those in youth. Now that some age
has passed, we the reader are in for a more grounded oftentimes colder treat that mirrors reality far
more accurately than those of a love struck puppy. This sonnet is actually about beauty, how that
beauty is handled, and ends with a truth about two different beings can come to terms with one
another with all the flaws that they are riddled with.
This poem is about the radiance of woman. The poem doesn t mention any particular woman per say.
Because of the way this poem is laid out, I feel like this is a forewarning about the imperfect nature of
not only women, but how imperfect love is. This sonnet is more likely a classification of the

The Road Not Taken Research Paper
Essay
The Road Not Taken is a very popular poem written by the renowned poet Robert Frost. This poem
tells a story of a man caught between two diverged roads and uncertain on which path he should take.
These two roads are quite obviously metaphors for the different paths you can take in life, but what is
less obvious is which path the narrator should take, and which he should leave behind. Throughout the
poem the narrator is constantly second guessing himself on which of the two roads he should take. He
reassures himself by saying that one of the roads seemed more grassy than the other and also seemed
less traveled upon. But shortly after he reveals that in actuality the two roads were both quite the
same. In the end he finally makes a decision but shows much regret after making it. This poem may
not be much of a fairytale but Robert Frost does have a theme behind this story, which is to make the

In the first line of the poem Frost already begins to lay out his setting for the reader saying, Two roads
diverged in a yellow wood (1). This allows the reader to visually see what the narrator sees, which
makes the poem much more powerful and realistic. Also Frost had to use imagery to put reader in the
narrator s shoes, so it s as if the reader also has to make the decision on which road is the best to take.
Even though the roads are not any different from each other, the details the narrator gives makes even

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall By Katherine Porter
An Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Porter The author, Katherine Porter,
wrote the short story titled The Jilting of Granny Weatherall . This short story takes place in the
bedroom where Granny is dying, although most of what happens in the book takes place in Granny s
head. As the story goes on, Granny looks back at all the memories she had with her children, and these
memories ease the pain of her sickness. That being said, a major theme that occurs in this short story
is that denial can be useful in helping someone through a time of death. At the beginning of the story,
Granny is told by Doctor Harry that she is severely sick. She detests this by saying, Leave a well
woman alone. I ll call for you when I want you... (Porter 835). Granny has been in denial about her
sickness from the start. We see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This symbolizes Granny losing control of her body. Another instance that suggests that Granny is
actually sick is when Cornelia was leading Doctor Harry out. She meant to wave good bye, but it was
too much trouble, (Porter 835). The denial that Granny experiences helps her cope through the loss of
her body. This denial comes through visions and memories of her children and her late husband. The
vast majority of the story goes through Granny s thoughts of her sickness. She thinks back to her
household when she was younger and her children were all at home. She thinks about how well she
kept her house together. The color blue is a recurring symbol seen. Granny thought about how
tomorrow was a new day and there was nothing to trouble about. She mentions that it s nice to have
everything clean and put away. The first symbol of blue is when she talks about the jars with blue
words on them. It was good to have everything clean and folded away, with the hair brushes and tonic
bottles sitting straight on the white embroidered linen: the day started

Essay On Adaptive Filters
Adaptive filters have been successfully applied to diverse fields including communications, speech
recognition, control systems, radar, seismology and biomedical engineering. Among various types of
adaptive algorithms, the least mean square (LMS) algorithm is well known and widely adopted due to
its simplicity and robustness to initial condition and noise. The performance of the LMS algorithm, in
terms of convergence rate, maladjustment, mean square error (MSE), and computational cost, is
governed by the step size. The frequency domain (FD) adaptive filter algorithm is known to be able to
reduce the numerical complexity by using the overlap and save implementation method. It
incorporates block updating strategies where the fast Fourier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A variable step size algorithm is proposed in,by focusing on achieving low residual error specifically
for the acoustic echo cancellation applications and also lacks of convergence analysis. Thus, we are
motivated to develop an FD step size control for LMS algorithm. Our objective is to achieve both fast
convergence and low steady state error, and to provide theoretical analysis on the convergence. A new
bin wise block varying step size for the FD LMS algorithm. The optimal solution of step size at each
iteration is derived by cancelling the a posteriori error in each frequency bin, and its estimate is
connected to the magnitude squared coherence (MSC) function. This Performs better than the existing
FD algorithm in terms of both convergence rate and mean square deviation (MSD). Furthermore,
compared to the TD algorithm, the proposed method converges faster in the presence highly of
correlated filter input. 5.1.1 frequency Domain Variable Step Size LMS The derivation of the

Theme Of The Last Death
THE LAST LEAF THEMES SACRIFICE: Sacrifice is one of the most important themes in this story.
This theme is depicted by Behrman as he risks his life for Johnsy. When he finds out about Johnsy s
illness and her pessimism that she will die once the last leaf falls, he decided to help her. So, he gets
out in that terrible cold weather in the middle of the night to paint an ivy leaf on the wall. As a result
he himself catches the Pneumonia and dies. So in this way the self sacrificing nature of Mr. Behrman
is shown in the story. FRIENDSHIP: Friendship is also one of the important themes in this story. The
love and affection between two friends i.e. Johnsy and Sue is shown in the story. Sue takes good care
of Johnsy when she falls ill. At that time Johnsy was pessimistic and was convinced that she will die
once the last leaf falls but Sue supports her morally and tries her level best to bring her back towards
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly the title of this story indicates the theme of death, as the word last shows something close to an
end. Similarly, Pneumonia is also the symbol of death as the old Behrman dies of it. So, in this way
death is one of the major themes in this story. HOPELESSNESS: The theme of hopelessness is
illustrated in this story by Johnsy. In the story, Johnsy seems to be very hopeless due to her disease.
She is convinced that she will die once the last leaf falls. She says, When the last one falls I must go,
too . Similarly, Johnsy s desperation and hopelessness is shown when she utters the following words.
It is the last one; I thought it would surely fall during the night. I heard the wind. It will fall today and
I shall die at the same time. So, in this way the theme of hopelessness is shown in the

What Are The Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet 1968 To...
Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is one of the most well known stories of all time and
perhaps the most famous play ever. As one might expect, the play has been made into a movie many
times. The 1968 version directed by Franco Zeffirelli and the 1996 version directed by Baz Luhrmann
are two of the most popular films. The older version attempts to create an authentic representation of
the play, while the 1996 version places a modern twist on the story. At first glance, the movies are
completely different, but upon a deeper look, there are several similarities between the two. This is
best demonstrated in the balcony scene. There are several aspects that make the balcony scene from
the 1968 movie different from the 1996 movie. The most visible of these is the setting. The 1968
version takes place on the Capulets balcony, just like the play. It is also unique in the costumes and the
blocking. The costumes are what people would wear during the time period Shakespeare wrote the
play. The blocking has the two main characters starting out far apart from each other, then coming
together before going apart again. The acting also was different in Zeffirelli s movie. The actors faces
were easy to read, helping the characters to appear as teens in love. They also spoke their lines with a
rhythm, as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scene takes place in a pool, rather than on an actual balcony. Also, instead of the actors coming
together from far apart, they are close together the whole time in Luhrmann s rendition, making the
scene seem somewhat unrealistic. The costumes Juliet and Romeo were wearing were more modern,
so they did not even look like costumes. Perhaps due to having more experience, the faces of the
actors were difficult to read. They also spoke their lines as if in an everyday conversation, as opposed
to being actors in a play. These characteristics are why the 1996 version varies from its 1968

Economic Development Strategy For The City Of Sydney
Basic Summary
Sydney is Australia s worldwide city, and the main learning based economy in the country. More than
$100 billion for each annum is produced in Sydney. That is more than half of what the whole mining
part creates, and double the span of the horticultural division at the farm gate.
In the course of the most recent five years our city economy has demonstrated its flexibility by
withstanding the worldwide financial recession. About 2000 organisations were added to the city since
2007. Major urban restoration ventures over the City of Sydney are giving occupations and lodging.
Green Square, Australia s biggest urban redevelopment task, is only 3.5kms from the downtown area.
The $8 billion redevelopment will give homes to 11,000 new inhabitants and 22,000 new labourers.
Economic Development Strategy for the City
The City of Sydney s 10 year Economic Development Strategy will help convey a realistic vision for a
significantly more dynamic, earth feasible economy, and a liveable city that works for inhabitants,
labourers, guests and understudies. Activity arrangements will bolster our current monetary qualities,
for example, the fund, tourism and retail areas; and develop new, rising parts, for example, the evening
time economy and green economy divisions. We are as of now putting $1.9 billion in a 10 year
framework project including Light Rail and the change of George Street; diminishing administrative
obstructions to energise business; and reactivating places,

Alternative Energy Vs. Fossil Fuels Essay
Alternative energy versus fossil fuels is a very controversial issue surrounding America today. The
issue is so controversial for many reasons, such as our economic dependence on fossil fuels and the
possibility of global warming due to the burning of these fossil fuels we are so dependent on. Where
one argument seems to succeed in persuading the reader one way, another rebuttal can be made that
will neutralize the arguments before it. If the United States become more alternative energy
dependent, it could destroy thousands of jobs, or it could save the US s economy.
Those who are for alternative energy side this way for many reasons. Firstly, alternative resources are
an extremely clean source of energy, as one anonymous person said, Remember when all those kids
got asthma from solar panel smog, toxic wind turbine pollution got in your food, and clean energy
poisoned our water? Yeah, me neither. Almost all alternative energy plans highlight that they have
much lower carbon emissions than any of the fossil fuel options available, and make the environment
healthier, as they do not pollute it with carbon dioxide or any other toxic gases that are produced, as a
byproduct of fossil fuels. As of right now, our economy s inflation is directly based on the supply of
fossil fuels, foreign and domestic. The cost of renewable energy is dependent on the amount of money
put into the infrastructure, as sunlight, wind, and water are free and in abundance almost anywhere on
earth, which

Myrtle Rust Research Paper
It came, It saw, It conquered The battle lines had been drawn and it had been around for about two
years before its first outbreak was witnessed on April 23, 2010 on the coast of New South Wales. The
march then continued to the next targets Victoria and Queensland. Over the course of three years, it
has become one of the biggest biosecurity threats to Australia s ecosystem. This alien intruder is
commonly known as Myrtle Rust. What is Myrtle Rust and how pernicious is it? Myrtle Rust, aka
Uredo rangelii, is a fungal plant pathogen native to South America that affects plants in Myrtaceae
family, such as Tea tree, Beach Cherry and Bottle Brush (DAFF, 2012). Its advent can be witnessed in
the form of small purple flecks and leaf spots on young leaves. It then utilizes its vicious powers to
create tiny, raised spots or pustules, which turn powdery distinctive yellow after a few days. It attacks
young and new plants and causes them to be stunted, leaves to be twisted and even leads to their
death. While the South American trees have some resistance against this aggressor, the Australian ones
are more vulnerable. It has the potential to affect up to 80 per cent of Australian native trees and the
crusade cannot be stopped once it has occupied the bush lands (NSW Scientific ... Show more content

utmost care must be taken while disposal to put a check on further spread and the best way to dispose
it would be burying on site or placing in direct sunlight for 3 4 weeks, after having sealed it in black

Structural Functionalism In The Animated Film Inside Out
The 2015 Disney Pixar animated film Inside Out is the story of an 11 year old girl named Riley and
the personified emotions that shape and control her personality. The movie is a wonderful example of
the functional analysis theoretical perspective of sociology, also known as structural functionalism or,
simply, functionalism, in that it illustrates a society (in this case, the young girl Riley) can maintain
equilibrium only when its component parts (the emotions/characters of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust,
and Anger) are each present and fulfilling their assigned functions. At the beginning of the film, Riley
and her parents live in Minnesota, where she has friends, enjoys her school, is a valued member of an
ice hockey team, and has an all around happy life. The movie s introduction depicts a typical day of
Riley s life in Minnesota, during which all five of the emotion characters properly fulfill their
functions and leave Riley in a normal state. Joy provides happiness for the young girl. Sadness
provides Riley moments of comfort from her parents and emotional bonding between Riley and her
parents. Fear keeps her from hurting herself by prompting a cautionary response. Likewise, Disgust
and Anger fulfill their intended, beneficial roles, thereby fulfilling their manifest functions. At the end
of the day, Joy congratulates her counterparts, telling them, Nice job, everybody. Another perfect day.
As the story progresses, Riley and her family move from Minnesota to San Francisco, where Riley
experiences culture shock. She and her family find their home to be more than a bit worn and dismal.
To make matters worse, their furniture has become lost in the cross country move, and Riley s father is
experiencing stress and anxiety in his job at a startup firm. Riley is uncomfortable at her new school
and in her new social environment as a whole. Riley s mother urges her to keep smiling, stay happy,
and be there for her father. At first the emotions are able work together, keeping Riley in harmony.
However, Sadness begins to cloud Riley s memories and feelings and override her balanced
personality. She tells Joy, Something s wrong with me. I think I m having a breakdown. Joy attempts

The Gold Lily
The Gold Lily by Louise Gluck shows the audience how the flower speaks to humans or, possibly, to
God. As the gold lily dies, it asks to be saved by the one who raised it, but one who is helpless to
fulfill the request. At the same time, the poem gives voice to a voiceless creature: a flower. Also, as an
extended metaphor, the flower gives voice to the human subject on the eve of death, a creature
unavoidably wasting its voice pleading with a being who cannot hear, does not listen, cannot help, or
is not there at all. As such, the poem speaks to the inevitable in nature and to strength and weakness in
the face of perhaps life s greatest fear: death. In its own small way, The Gold Lily is a preparation for
death, a poem attempting to confront ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had learned the english language and greek myths by the age of three as she had to please them.
They loved intellectual accomplishment which is why she was being educated heavily at such a young
age. She wasn t in times of hardship when she wrote this poem, but the world around her was. During
the early 1990 s, the Soviet Union brought an end to themselves and thus the Cold War ended. But
while that signalled an era of peace to most Americans, it liberated ethnic groups previously held
together by the Soviets to fight for control of what they considered their historical territory. What s
more, while these ethnic and political conflicts in Eastern Europe were happening, a battle broke out
in the Middle East between Iraq and Kuwait over oil prices and debt, causing Iraq to invade Kuwait. I
think that Gluck wanted to write this poem because of all the catastrophic and deadly events
happening around her. Through the poem, she could show how hurt she was and how they were
causing her pain and sorrow. Nevertheless, Louise Gluck did a fantastic job with incorporating her
main ideas in The Gold Lily . Her usage of metaphors and succinct imagery made it not only hard to
discover what the message was, but how beautifully written the piece was. Using a flower to represent
both itself and a human being, Glück portrays an individual overwhelmed by the process of dying, and
can also show deeper meanings as to why she

Microbes usually applied in agriculture industry because expert find out that microorganism found in
the soil can help to improve agricultural productivity. For example, microbes like Agrobacterium

Furthermore, microbes are key component in food industry. Fermentation processes can be carried out

Current Management Techniques, And Make Recommendations On...
The purpose of this memo is to survey our current management techniques, and make
recommendations on where we can improve our current model. The real estate industry is a cyclical
market. We can observe almost regular 18 year cycles in the housing market, with the last recession
occurring in 2008 (Nikolais, 2014). With this regularity, it has been very easy to predict when
expansions will occur, which in turn allows real estate firms to position themselves in a way to fully
capture the market. However, the last bust in 2008 has been much different. For the first time in
history, people are electing to rent, rather than buy their home. This can be seen in a recent survey by
MarketWatch: Nearly six in 10 Millennials (59%) say they d rather rent a home than buy one, with
just one in four saying they are either very or completely likely to purchase a home in the next five
years (MarketWatch, 2015). The reason for this change in behavior is that first time homebuyers are
burdened with nearly $1 Trillion in student loan debt (Kingkade, 2013). This pressure has made
younger people wary of taking on even more debt in the form of a mortgage loan.
On a broader level, we are six years into a recovery in the housing market that is likely to last for a
considerable amount of time (Nikolais, 2014). Although we are seeing a rise in demand, and have
been very busy as of late, there are always areas in which we can improve. Recent trends in
technology have reshaped the way businesses are

The Historical And Theological Significance Of God s Grace...
American mythologist and writer Joseph Campbell can be quoted, Computers are like Old Testament
(gods), lots of rules and no mercy. Sadly enough, many people, even some Biblical scholars, hold to
this stereotype that the Old and New Testaments display different foundational characteristics of God:
law versus grace. As will be examined here, the stories of the OT are abundant in both God s grace
and His holiness, and the histories within these books are saturated with the theological themes of
covenant, kingship, grace, sacrifice, and prophetism. Each of the five subsections listed will first
answer the who, what, why, when, where, and how questions. After a thorough explanation of the
historical and theological significance of each theme, this exposition will address a crucial debate
concerning the theme, if such is applicable. We begin with the theme of covenant in this study of five
prominent OT themes. Covenant. The history and use of covenant is crucial to the development of the
OT plot. The idea of covenant within the Ancient Near East (ANE) was clearly pre Mosaic, probably
beginning within the Sumerian covenants in the 3rd millennium BC (Thompson ##). According to Old
Testament Theology: A Thematic Approach, a covenant can be generally defined as a solemn bond
established between two or more parties (usually on the basis of a promise or pledge) and involved a
firm commitment to the relationship established by the covenant and to its obligations (Routledge

Argumentative Essay On The Color Purple
According to the Collins Dictionary, the term belittle is when you speak of (something) as less
valuable or important than it really is . When evaluating the given definition, the word something is
key to the topic that will be delivered. This is because The color Purple by Alice Walker exemplifies
the time period between 1910 1940 in which the belittling of women was very common. The word
something stands out because during this time period (1910 1940) women were treated as things and
not human beings, which is why the definition given by the Collins Dictionary represents more
completely the conduct usually men manifested. We can infer that belittling falls into the category of
abuse, mainly because when you abuse of someone, either physically or emotionally, you make the
person feel inferior and powerless. Throughout the novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

abuse of any kind women usually keep it to themselves because they fear things will get worst.
Fortunately, in the society we are living today our laws protect us from this abuse. This is why my
recommendation to women is to stand up and confront the situation, not necessarily with the abuser
but with high forces that will ensure safety. No women nor men deserves to be disrespected or feel
useless due to others. This is why I am a feminist, which according to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a

Thermal Solar Energy Lab Report
The results of this simulation are displayed in Fig. 4, where injected and extracted heat per length ((q)
̇/L) pulses were simulated for 300 months. A charging time of 19 months is needed to charge the
ground by thermal solar energy in order to achieve the desired design temperature. In the figure, this
19 month period begins in June and ends in January. When the system is actively supplying thermal
energy to the building, the temperature rises in the summer months to a peak of about 80 C and falls in
the winter months to a low of about 67 C. The yearly average is about 71.5 C.

Also, some savings are achieved by using more efficient cooling technology to reduce grid purchases.
The retrofit therefore reduces the total energy purchased from the grid, but it also modifies the hourly
electrical demand profile. Both pieces of information are required to compute the savings, because it is
assumed that the grid pricing is demand sensitive, such that the price per kWh each month is a
function of the load factor for that month. Load factor is defined on a monthly basis as the ratio of the
average power consumption for the month divided by the peak hourly power consumption. The load
factor measures the consistency of the demand over time, with high load factors indicating a more
consistent demand that is less costly for the utility to provide. The monthly per kWh grid price is
therefore inversely related to load factor.
To determine how the building retrofit would modify the grid electrical demand, the original aggregate
hourly demand is split, as was previously described, into heating, hot water, cooling, and baseline plug
load profiles. The cooling profile is scaled by 80% to estimate the electrical load for the more

Giulio Romano s Fall Of The Giants
Giulio Romano uses illusionism in his painting called Fall of the Giants. It depicts the battle of the
gods against and the giants in Greek mythology. We can see that the gods are in the clouds of Mount
Olympus, and they look very peaceful. On the other hand, there s a chaotic scene below them with the
giants trampling one another along with the falling infrastructures. Illusionism plays a significant role
in this painting as it looks very real. This artwork is a type of trompe l oeil, which means fool the eye ,
because two dimensional art works like Romano s work looks three dimensional. In addition, this type
of illusionism is called trickery as the art works appear real due to the extensive details in them. For
instance, we can see very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Art and science coincides in that the perspective of the artist is significant in the artwork that they
create. Gunther von Hagens is a German medical scientist that uses a technique called plastination.
This is the process in which the body is preserved after death, and Von Hagen s arranged them in
different poses to show the human anatomy. One example is seen in figure 4.65, which shows a
basketball player dribbling a ball. The artwork shows how the muscles and bones work together to
make movement, and we can also see the different structures very clearly. This includes the muscles,
tendons, ligaments, bones, and the brain. As a biology major, I think this is very interesting, and I didn
t know that there was an artwork such as this type. I think in general, it s helpful to see the different
poses to get an idea of how the body works. It is certainly a controversial type of artwork, but the
meaning is still there. It displays the human body in ways that normal people usually don t think
about. It allows us to better understand the human body and its functions. Moreover, the exhibit also
emphasizes the importance of a healthy life style. For example, one of their exhibits display a body
with damaged lungs of a smoker. This artwork could have a major impact on society, because it shows
the consequences of smoking and how it affects our body. In my opinion, this exemplifies

Different Styles Of Invicta Watches
While so many of us, either collectors or fans will have that knowledge of how many different styles
of Invicta watches are available. This overview article brings each individual timepiece closer to us
and the details each one of them has to offer. While, so many of the timepiece are equally well styled
and showcases some similar theme. It is important to know that every one of these watches made by
Invicta has its individual features, regardless of the style collection it belongs to. Without much ado, I
am glad to say Invicta has 32 style theme that each watch belongs to, or let s say design collections. I
have had people say that 32 is so limited to choose from, while others have clearly stated that it s a lot
of style collection to pick from. I do agree with both opinions, depending on which perspective I look
at it. Yes and No, 32 is a lot for individuals would just want to have a few, as it makes it difficult to
make a definitely selection on which to buy depending on the individuals style. For collectors, it might
be few because highly trained collectors who have the knowledge are actually out there looking for
the timeless editions, one that would be still be favored in years to come. Moving on, let s take a look
at all 32 collections and see what each has to offer: Akula The Invicta Akula Collection: This

Another interpretation of the legend Icarus is a poem written by W.H. Auden called, Musée des Beaux Arts. The speaker in the poem notices how everything turns away..., (line 14) from a dangerous, horrible or miserable situation. • 13. The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Major League Baseball In Major League Baseball, numerous players have put up tremendous statistics and record breaking numbers. There are a great amount of players in the league that have done this naturally, however it is not uncommon to see star players get caught taking performance enhancing drugs or steroids. Steroid use in baseball has been an issue since the earliest days of the game, and can be seen very frequently in players today. Jose Canseco was a star hitter in the major leagues, who had admitted to steroid later in his career. Canseco once estimated that 85% of other players were also taking performance enhancing drugs. Though that estimate is not proven, there are still many players today that are taking these steroids, and it needs to remain an issue in the eyes of the MLB. Taking these drugs not only promotes the risk of significant side effects and health problems to the player consuming them, but it makes changes to the game itself as well. The way the game is being played has changed over time due to this issue, and players are receiving advantages that other players are not. Overall, these illegal drugs are unfair to other players in the game and simply are not safe, and should never become legal in the league. Throughout the history of major league baseball we have seen countless astonishing hitters come pass through, some putting up record breaking numbers, at times too good to be true. Barry Bonds, known as the homerun king was able to put up an amazing total of 73 home runs in 2001. The very next season, he continued to present his skill with a .370 batting average. Seismic waves are waves created by movement in the Earth. These waves can have different properties that can react with changing densities within the earth. Knowing the different reactions can be used to determine the density of the earth at the different depths. It is also a powerful tool in determining the elements present in the earth. Among various types of adaptive algorithms, the least mean square (LMS) algorithm is well known and widely adopted due to its simplicity and robustness to initial condition and noise. The performance of the LMS algorithm, in terms of convergence rate, maladjustment, mean square error (MSE), and computational cost, is governed by the step size. The frequency domain (FD) adaptive filter algorithm is known to be able to reduce the numerical complexity by using the overlap and save implementation method. It incorporates block updating strategies where the fast Fourier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A variable step size algorithm is proposed in,by focusing on achieving low residual error specifically for the acoustic echo cancellation applications and also lacks of convergence analysis. Thus, we are motivated to develop an FD step size control for LMS algorithm. Our objective is to achieve both fast convergence and low steady state error, and to provide theoretical analysis on the convergence. A new bin wise block varying step size for the FD LMS algorithm. The optimal solution of step size at each iteration is derived by cancelling the a posteriori error in each frequency bin, and its estimate is connected to the magnitude squared coherence (MSC) function. This Performs better than the existing FD algorithm in terms of both convergence rate and mean square deviation (MSD). Furthermore, compared to the TD algorithm, the proposed method converges faster in the presence highly of correlated filter input. 5.1.1 frequency Domain Variable Step Size LMS The derivation of the proposed FD step size control algorithm, ... • 22. Theme Of The Last Death THE LAST LEAF THEMES SACRIFICE: Sacrifice is one of the most important themes in this story. This theme is depicted by Behrman as he risks his life for Johnsy. When he finds out about Johnsy s illness and her pessimism that she will die once the last leaf falls, he decided to help her. So, he gets out in that terrible cold weather in the middle of the night to paint an ivy leaf on the wall. As a result he himself catches the Pneumonia and dies. So in this way the self sacrificing nature of Mr. Behrman is shown in the story. FRIENDSHIP: Friendship is also one of the important themes in this story. The love and affection between two friends i.e. Johnsy and Sue is shown in the story. Sue takes good care of Johnsy when she falls ill. At that time Johnsy was pessimistic and was convinced that she will die once the last leaf falls but Sue supports her morally and tries her level best to bring her back towards life. ... She is convinced that she will die once the last leaf falls. She says, When the last one falls I must go, too . Similarly, Johnsy s desperation and hopelessness is shown when she utters the following words. It is the last one; I thought it would surely fall during the night. I heard the wind. • 23. What Are The Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet 1968 To... Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is one of the most well known stories of all time and perhaps the most famous play ever. As one might expect, the play has been made into a movie many times. The 1968 version directed by Franco Zeffirelli and the 1996 version directed by Baz Luhrmann are two of the most popular films. The older version attempts to create an authentic representation of the play, while the 1996 version places a modern twist on the story. At first glance, the movies are completely different, but upon a deeper look, there are several similarities between the two. This is best demonstrated in the balcony scene. There are several aspects that make the balcony scene from the 1968 movie different from the 1996 movie. The most visible of these is the setting. The 1968 version takes place on the Capulets balcony, just like the play. It is also unique in the costumes and the blocking. The costumes are what people would wear during the time period Shakespeare wrote the play. The blocking has the two main characters starting out far apart from each other, then coming together before going apart again. The acting also was different in Zeffirelli s movie. The actors faces were easy to read, helping the characters to appear as teens in love. They also spoke their lines with a rhythm, as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene takes place in a pool, rather than on an actual balcony. Also, instead of the actors coming together from far apart, they are close together the whole time in Luhrmann s rendition, making the scene seem somewhat unrealistic. The costumes Juliet and Romeo were wearing were more modern, so they did not even look like costumes. Perhaps due to having more experience, the faces of the actors were difficult to read. They also spoke their lines as if in an everyday conversation, as opposed to being actors in a play. These characteristics are why the 1996 version varies from its 1968 ... The issue is so controversial for many reasons, such as our economic dependence on fossil fuels and the possibility of global warming due to the burning of these fossil fuels we are so dependent on. Where one argument seems to succeed in persuading the reader one way, another rebuttal can be made that will neutralize the arguments before it. If the United States become more alternative energy dependent, it could destroy thousands of jobs, or it could save the US s economy. Those who are for alternative energy side this way for many reasons. Firstly, alternative resources are an extremely clean source of energy, as one anonymous person said, Remember when all those kids got asthma from solar panel smog, toxic wind turbine pollution got in your food, and clean energy poisoned our water? Yeah, me neither. Almost all alternative energy plans highlight that they have much lower carbon emissions than any of the fossil fuel options available, and make the environment healthier, as they do not pollute it with carbon dioxide or any other toxic gases that are produced, as a byproduct of fossil fuels. As of right now, our economy s inflation is directly based on the supply of fossil fuels, foreign and domestic. Myrtle Rust Research Paper It came, It saw, It conquered The battle lines had been drawn and it had been around for about two years before its first outbreak was witnessed on April 23, 2010 on the coast of New South Wales. The march then continued to the next targets Victoria and Queensland. Over the course of three years, it has become one of the biggest biosecurity threats to Australia s ecosystem. This alien intruder is commonly known as Myrtle Rust. What is Myrtle Rust and how pernicious is it? Myrtle Rust, aka Uredo rangelii, is a fungal plant pathogen native to South America that affects plants in Myrtaceae family, such as Tea tree, Beach Cherry and Bottle Brush (DAFF, 2012). Its advent can be witnessed in the form of small purple flecks and leaf spots on young leaves. It then utilizes its vicious powers to create tiny, raised spots or pustules, which turn powdery distinctive yellow after a few days. It attacks young and new plants and causes them to be stunted, leaves to be twisted and even leads to their death. While the South American trees have some resistance against this aggressor, the Australian ones are more vulnerable. It has the potential to affect up to 80 per cent of Australian native trees and the crusade cannot be stopped once it has occupied the bush lands (NSW Scientific ... Structural Functionalism In The Animated Film Inside Out The 2015 Disney Pixar animated film Inside Out is the story of an 11 year old girl named Riley and the personified emotions that shape and control her personality. The movie is a wonderful example of the functional analysis theoretical perspective of sociology, also known as structural functionalism or, simply, functionalism, in that it illustrates a society (in this case, the young girl Riley) can maintain equilibrium only when its component parts (the emotions/characters of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger) are each present and fulfilling their assigned functions. At the beginning of the film, Riley and her parents live in Minnesota, where she has friends, enjoys her school, is a valued member of an ice hockey team, and has an all around happy life. The movie s introduction depicts a typical day of Riley s life in Minnesota, during which all five of the emotion characters properly fulfill their functions and leave Riley in a normal state. Joy provides happiness for the young girl. Sadness provides Riley moments of comfort from her parents and emotional bonding between Riley and her parents. Fear keeps her from hurting herself by prompting a cautionary response. Likewise, Disgust and Anger fulfill their intended, beneficial roles, thereby fulfilling their manifest functions. At the end of the day, Joy congratulates her counterparts, telling them, Nice job, everybody. Another perfect day. As the story progresses, Riley and her family move from Minnesota to San Francisco, where Riley experiences culture shock. She and her family find their home to be more than a bit worn and dismal. To make matters worse, their furniture has become lost in the cross country move, and Riley s father is experiencing stress and anxiety in his job at a startup firm. Riley is uncomfortable at her new school and in her new social environment as a whole. Riley s mother urges her to keep smiling, stay happy, and be there for her father. At first the emotions are able work together, keeping Riley in harmony. However, Sadness begins to cloud Riley s memories and feelings and override her balanced personality. As the gold lily dies, it asks to be saved by the one who raised it, but one who is helpless to fulfill the request. At the same time, the poem gives voice to a voiceless creature: a flower. Also, as an extended metaphor, the flower gives voice to the human subject on the eve of death, a creature unavoidably wasting its voice pleading with a being who cannot hear, does not listen, cannot help, or is not there at all. As such, the poem speaks to the inevitable in nature and to strength and weakness in the face of perhaps life s greatest fear: death. During the early 1990 s, the Soviet Union brought an end to themselves and thus the Cold War ended. What s more, while these ethnic and political conflicts in Eastern Europe were happening, a battle broke out in the Middle East between Iraq and Kuwait over oil prices and debt, causing Iraq to invade Kuwait. I think that Gluck wanted to write this poem because of all the catastrophic and deadly events happening around her. Through the poem, she could show how hurt she was and how they were causing her pain and sorrow. Nevertheless, Louise Gluck did a fantastic job with incorporating her main ideas in The Gold Lily . Her usage of metaphors and succinct imagery made it not only hard to discover what the message was, but how beautifully written the piece was. • 34. Current Management Techniques, And Make Recommendations On... The purpose of this memo is to survey our current management techniques, and make recommendations on where we can improve our current model. The real estate industry is a cyclical market. We can observe almost regular 18 year cycles in the housing market, with the last recession occurring in 2008 (Nikolais, 2014). With this regularity, it has been very easy to predict when expansions will occur, which in turn allows real estate firms to position themselves in a way to fully capture the market. However, the last bust in 2008 has been much different. For the first time in history, people are electing to rent, rather than buy their home. This can be seen in a recent survey by MarketWatch: Nearly six in 10 Millennials (59%) say they d rather rent a home than buy one, with just one in four saying they are either very or completely likely to purchase a home in the next five years (MarketWatch, 2015). The reason for this change in behavior is that first time homebuyers are burdened with nearly $1 Trillion in student loan debt (Kingkade, 2013). This pressure has made younger people wary of taking on even more debt in the form of a mortgage loan. On a broader level, we are six years into a recovery in the housing market that is likely to last for a considerable amount of time (Nikolais, 2014). American mythologist and writer Joseph Campbell can be quoted, Computers are like Old Testament (gods), lots of rules and no mercy. Sadly enough, many people, even some Biblical scholars, hold to this stereotype that the Old and New Testaments display different foundational characteristics of God: law versus grace. As will be examined here, the stories of the OT are abundant in both God s grace and His holiness, and the histories within these books are saturated with the theological themes of covenant, kingship, grace, sacrifice, and prophetism. Each of the five subsections listed will first answer the who, what, why, when, where, and how questions. After a thorough explanation of the historical and theological significance of each theme, this exposition will address a crucial debate concerning the theme, if such is applicable. We begin with the theme of covenant in this study of five prominent OT themes. Covenant. The history and use of covenant is crucial to the development of the OT plot. The idea of covenant within the Ancient Near East (ANE) was clearly pre Mosaic, probably beginning within the Sumerian covenants in the 3rd millennium BC (Thompson ##). According to Old Testament Theology: A Thematic Approach, a covenant can be generally defined as a solemn bond established between two or more parties (usually on the basis of a promise or pledge) and involved a firm commitment to the relationship established by the covenant and to its obligations (Routledge ... When evaluating the given definition, the word something is key to the topic that will be delivered. This is because The color Purple by Alice Walker exemplifies the time period between 1910 1940 in which the belittling of women was very common. The word something stands out because during this time period (1910 1940) women were treated as things and not human beings, which is why the definition given by the Collins Dictionary represents more completely the conduct usually men manifested. We can infer that belittling falls into the category of abuse, mainly because when you abuse of someone, either physically or emotionally, you make the person feel inferior and powerless. The retrofit therefore reduces the total energy purchased from the grid, but it also modifies the hourly electrical demand profile. Both pieces of information are required to compute the savings, because it is assumed that the grid pricing is demand sensitive, such that the price per kWh each month is a function of the load factor for that month. Load factor is defined on a monthly basis as the ratio of the average power consumption for the month divided by the peak hourly power consumption. The load factor measures the consistency of the demand over time, with high load factors indicating a more consistent demand that is less costly for the utility to provide. The monthly per kWh grid price is therefore inversely related to load factor.
