The Human Eyes Of Primates
Sclera
One of the most variable aspects of the eyes in primates is the sclera. The sclera in primates comes in multiple different
pigments and SSI as seen in figure 2. In research on human eyes, evidence concludes that through the sclera, health, age
and emotion can be detected; redden or yellow sclera detects decreased health, increased age, and even emotions of
sadness or irritation, whereas bright white sclera represents increased overall health [4]. The true purpose for the evolution
of the sclera is not completely clear, but many implications can be made to help researchers better understand the complex
evolution of the eye. One of the major topics for research on the eye is the discovery that the purpose of the white sclera is
to amplify gaze direction whereas the darker colored sclera is to do the opposite; hide gaze direction from predators [5].
Not only can the sclera help detect emotion and gaze but is a major factor in the evolution of communication between
primates.
The majority of organisms that fall into the category of primates tend to live in relatively large group size and work
together within their habitats to increase the overall survival rate. There are multiple benefits of living in larger groups
which include increased genetic diversity, increased protection from predators and even more opportunity for developing
learning strategies [7]. On the other hand, animals living in smaller groups do not necessarily have as much completion for

Personal Reflection of Media Use Essay
Over the past week I have been keeping track of my media use. I discovered I lead a pretty repetitive technological
lifestyle. Weekday mornings I start my media consumption via my alarm clock on my cell phone. Why not use the regular
alarm clock? Because with a cell phone I do not have to get up and out of bed in the morning the snooze button is even
closer to my barely awake fingertips. After hitting the snooze button at least once I make a point to check out Facebook
because we all know everyone is constantly updating at 5:45 every morning. After getting out of bed, getting ready and
entering my car for my 90 minute commute I turn to one of the older forms of media my car radio. I listen to Elvis Duran
in the Morning each morning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On my lunch break I check to see if I have received text messages, personal emails, and of course see the newest updates
of Facebook (slowly realizing how addicted I am to this form of social media). Lunch is usually simple, deli meat from
Aldi s or a microwavable meal. I am not sure if either of these are purchased because of commercials I ve seen on
television or out of convenience of making packing a lunch easier. On my way home I found I listen to the radio but not as
closely singing along to some songs, shazming ones I may not know. I get home and relax by watching television. I will
continue to browse Facebook (and admit to my addiction to it), look up recipes on pintrest. This past week I ve been super
focused on Superbowl food as I am hosting a Superbowl party. I also have done research on the Seattle Seahawks as of late
as they are my boyfriend s favorite team and I want to sound like I know what I am talking about. These pintrest recipes
are having me go out and purchase the food required as they have in the past for other events. This form of media is
possibly where I make most food decisions. Pintrest has also provided me with different wardrobe ideas and trying to
imitate them on a cheap, affordable level. The best part of my Facebook addiction is the easier contact I have with friends
who live in other states. Though I could text or call typing on

Personal Narrative-Casey At The Bat
Casey At The Bat
I am ashamed of myself. Me, the so called mighty Casey, just struck out. This is how the story went. We were down 4 2. I
didn t feel confident I was going to go up to bat because of my teammates were struggling to get on base. I looked at the
crowd. They all had a look on them that told me I was the only hope. With two outs and one more to go I felt like just
packing up my stuff.
Before me was Flynn and Jimmy. With little hope that everyone had left I hung my head down in shame that we couldn t
win. Then all of sudden Flynn got a single and Jimmy crushed the ball. This brought all of the glooming people right back
up. Everyone that was watching us screamed with all their lungs. The baseball park was filled with excitement. And now I
m up, the mighty Casey.
I was nervous to go up to bat with runners on base and possibly be the leading run. But I didn t let anyone see that I was
nervous. So I started smiling to show confidence. I went into the batter s box hoping to crush the ball like how I ve always
done. I looked at the first pitch. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I looked right up at the pitcher. He then pitched the ball. I looked at it again and the umpire yelled Strike Two! I went right

pitcher, but this time with a serious look. Then everything slowed down when he was about to pitch it. I swung as hard as I
could. I thought I just hit a homer in so I looked up in the air trying to track down the ball. Then all I heard Strike three! I
couldn t believe I struck out. I was devastated. After that I couldn t hit the ball anymore. I wasn t the best player on the
field. I always thought If I didn t strikes out, I would ve still been good. This is your story of how the once Mighty Casey is

The Girl I Know At School
There s this girl I know at school, Lindsey, we weren t exactly friends, although, we did socialize quite a bit in class. She
doesn t really have many friends other than myself and about two other people, which I found weird and sad because she s
really cool, high spirited, pretty and really, just an amazing person in general. Today, though, was the day I got to see a
different side of her, the side that she had never shown anyone. Today at lunch she didn t eat with her friends unlike usual
and she ate very little. When I passed by her with my friends to get to where we usually sit after we eat, she said hi and
walked away right after without giving me a chance to respond, I was starting to get worried about her. After a few
minutes, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

so, is there stuff happening at home that a teacher or supervisor should probably know? I won t tell anyone so you don t
have to worry about that, you can trust me. No, there isn t, that s why I can t solve, or even cope with these emotional
meltdowns... because there isn t anything wrong in my life, that I know of at least. Okay, look, I think I know what s
wrong. You might actually have depression, I ve had those feelings before, so I know what they feel like, and I know this
sounds a lot like a bullshit cliché but trust me, it does get better. Well, thanks for trying but I don t think it will. I m sorry,
but I ve dealing with this for too long and it s just getting to be too much to handle. Really? How long? Why didn t you tell
me I could have been there to help you, to support you, to help you not feel so alone anymore. I m sorry, I couldn t... I just
couldn t. I couldn t have risked you thinking bad or lower about me. She said as she started to cry lightly again. Okay,
please stop... I would never do that and you know it. I told her as I put my hand on her shoulder wiping away some of her
tears. Well, thanks but I still think trying to help me is pointless and a lost cause because I just can t handle it anymore. I m
really sorry to say it, but I ve considered suicide before, but I just couldn t do it because I know that people

Analysis Of Love Is Not All
The poem Love is not All by Edna St. Vincent Millay stood out to me when reading poetry in class. The meaning of the
poem Love is Not All is to remind someone that there is more to life than just love. For example, in a class discussion on
September 26, it was discussed that love does not supply the necessities of life (Craig). This poem serves as a reminder
that there are things in life that matter more than love such as, food, shelter, and water. The poem Love is Not All stood out
to me because of my ability to relate to it and use it to help guide me through a bad break up. This poem stood out to me
because of its deeper meaning. This poem reminded me that love is not all that exists and it is not all I have. When going
through a breakup it can be very easy to say, I m never going to find love or I am going to die alone , this poem is a
reminder that you do not need love to survive. When going through a bad break up you can lose sight of yourself and the
things that are important. For example, line five in Love is Not All states, Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath
(Millay 975). This means that love is not what is keeping you alive. This helped to remind me that even though losing the
person I thought I loved may hurt, it was not going to kill me. This poem has a strong meaning of pushing through a hard
time dealing with love. This poem shinned a bright light on the important things in life. Love is like a bonus in life,
because it is not

Substance Use Disorder And Substance Abuse
Substance use disorder is defined as being a pattern of maladaptive behaviors and reactions brought about by repeated use
of a substance, sometimes also including tolerance for the substance and withdrawal reactions. (pg. 294). The individual I
will be talking about for the project is someone that came to crave a particular substance and rely on it every day. Their
choice to devote so much of their time to their substance caused issues between their family and friends. Both family and
friends started to drift away from this individual. It was almost like all they literally cared about was making sure that they
got their substance. Their choice of substance was alcohol. The individual had built up a tolerance where if there was a
longer period of time where they would have to go without they would start to feel anxious and get sweaty, that was their
withdrawal reactions exposed. A lot of people that have alcohol use disorder specifically start off by developing their
drinking problem in there young college years. It is the prime time to be pressured by your peers to try and drink until you
puke your cuts out. For other individuals they are so lucky and it actually can be seen as being disorder that is hereditary.
For the specific individual that I am talking about for this paper he developed it because a majority of his dad s side of the
family had alcohol use disorder. This individual new the odds were against him, but still fell into the same steps his father s
side did.

Chartres Cathedral Analysis
Chartres Cathedral
Chartres Cathedral is one of the most significant achievements of all the historical architecture. Additionally, it is entirely
preserved with its original details. The unique features of the cathedral are intact, and thus when one visits the place, he or
she is likely to encounter the authentic architecture work as it was done many years ago. Chartres Cathedral symbolizes an
atmosphere of awe and holiness (Katzenellenbogen, 2). As such, it was built for religious purposes. However, it attracts the
nonbelievers as well. As a holy building, it has many glass windows to light the building. Due to its height, a double flying
buttresses is used to support the high nave. The cathedral was the first building in history that used buttresses since it was
considered as necessary for the peoples culture and as a sign of authority. It was built to reflect a symbol of power since
the religious leaders engaged in politics too. The cathedral has many statuses that represent the Biblical aspects such as
Elijah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Jeremiah, and Simeon (Katzenellenbogen, 9). The standings portray the Christian faith that
was used by the architectures while building the cathedral. The interior floor stands thirty six meters high and is one
hundred and twenty eight meters wide. The sizes show how vital it is and it can host many peoples who visit for religious
functions.

Bombing Of Dresden Essay
To what extent was the bombing of Dresden justified and what are the resulting consequences? Introduction: Dresden The
bombing of Dresden from February 13 to February 15, 1945 remains one of the most controversial bombings in World War
II. Located in eastern Germany, Dresden was targeted by Allied bombers during the final months World War II in the
European theatre. The justification of the bombing remains controversial because the city was neither a political center nor
an industrial center contributing to the Nazi war effort. The one word that describes Dresden before its decimation was
innocence. Prior to the bombing, Dresden was a cultural center and was one of the world s most beautiful cities termed the

Dresden, arguing the attack would disorient the German war machine to aid the advancement of Soviet troops from the

approximated 20 million. All leaders agreed during Yalta that bombing raids on transportation, communication, and

manufacturing hubs that contributed to the Nazi war effort, the Allies reported several factories in Dresden. As Chen states,
However, Allied reports indicated the presence of the Zeiss Ikon optical factory and Siemans glass factory (which

Finding Meaning In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
While writing about finding meaning in life, James Van Praagh said, We have all been placed on this earth to discover our
own path, and we will never be happy if we live in someone else s idea of life. In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha, a man goes
on a quest to figure out who he wants to be and what he wants to believe in. He meets up with old friends and encounters
new people throughout the novel. With that said, Siddhartha could not have found meaning in his life without separating
from his friends at some point. Hermann Hesse suggests that friendships need to be suspended in order to find the right
path in life, as shown by Siddhartha s friendships with Govinda and Kamala.
Although Govinda and Siddhartha lived near each other all their lives, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

she still need him? Siddhartha initially befriended Kamala to learn the ways of love from her. He thought that he could
reach enlightenment by living with her and learning new trades. After a while, Siddhartha became sickened by everything
he owned, but Kamala was content living with her many possessions. Once Siddhartha realized that they wanted different
things from life, he left to find enlightenment somewhere else. From the day Kamala met Siddhartha, she knew he was a
traveler that did not stay in one place for too long. Hesse wrote, When she heard the news of Siddhartha s disappearance,
she went to the window where she kept a rare songbird... took the bird out and let it fly away. The release of Kamala s
songbird represents how Kamala feels about Siddhartha leaving. She allows the bird to fly away just like she lets
Siddhartha leave without going after him. She understands that after living together for so long, he has learned as much as
he can from her and needs to move on. Even though Siddhartha loves Kamala, he did not find the meaning of life while

Daisy Miller Essay
Daisy Miller by Henry James, is a study of a young American girl s rebuttal of all things proper and refusal to conform to
social standards. One can see that realism is apparent throughout the text. The characters utilize free will throughout, are
affected by their environment and familial relationships, and ultimately make their own choices. These choices eventually
affect the outcome in an unhappy ending. Jame s creates characters that encompass both sides of the social sphere in this
work. Winterbourne, Mrs. Costello and Mrs. Walker are all individuals that come from old money, a higher societal
background, and expectations of what is deemed right and proper. In contrast, Daisy Miller, Mrs. Miller, Randolph and
Eugenio are the opposite in many ways coming from an average societal realm and more realistic, modest lifestyle.
Winterbourne has a rather telling conversation with Mrs. Walker and her statement to him upon asking what exactly it is
that Daisy does that pushes too far sums up the overall reputation Daisy is establishing for herself. (she does) Everything
that is not done here. Flirting with any man she could pick up; sitting in corners with mysterious Italians; dancing all the
evening with the same partners; receiving visits at eleven o clock at night (James, p. 1537). Daisy s ability to make her
own choices and follow her free will are aspects of realism which writers began to utilize. Again, her environment and
family most definitely affect her behavior.

Descriptive Essay About South Boston
10. South Boston
Known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, South Boston is placed on a peninsula that extends into the Boston
Harbor. It is linked to the rest of the city through a narrow strip of land. Over the years, this strip of land has been
gradually widened through landfill.
For over a century, South Boston has been one of the most populated neighborhoods in the city. In the mid 1800s, it was
the third most populous section of Boston. Over the year, new residential subdivisions have developed in the
neighborhood. Each new subdivision has a unique character and architectural style. Telegraph Hill and Dorchester Heights
were both created in the middle of the 19th century to house the city s growing population base.
Originally annexed by Boston in 1804, this neighborhood really started to thrive in the mid 19th century when the Old
Colony Railroad made reaching downtown Boston easy. Before long, it was a center of industry with shipyards, iron
foundries and machine shops popping up everywhere. Today, industrial buildings can still be found on the northern side of
the peninsula.
Modern South Boston has many long time residents as well as young professionals. With its easy access to downtown, this
area is popular among commuters. It boasts of a thriving nightlife scene and open spaces. Miles of waterfront parks and
beaches can be found at areas like L Street Beach, Carson Beach, the Strandway and Pleasure Bay.

The Theory Of Social Enterprise
When I first start on this module, I feel really odd about what exactly a social enterprise is. In our daily life, there are tens
of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what makes those business exits, what aims they are
trying to achieve and what kind of business they are. When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run
the business in a long term if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little
social capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations and
workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre s visit and learning packs of various social concepts from
different groups day by day.
What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce (2003). The diagram
is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of
which can be seen to be based on deferent principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the
economy. The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to maximize
returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs through the
production of goods and the provision of services by companies. The second system can be conventionally referred to as
the public sector. It is

There is a lot of forgotten materials in cinematography, dirctoring, and acting that should be revived in todays films. Back
then, filmmakers had the secrets to entertaining its audience such as there was no fillers in the plot and was more straight
forwards scenes to follow. Overall films does not need to be a big production and an overly complext plot and random
fillers that loses the viewers attentions and idea of the film is loses to the action. Sometimes keeping simple makes a great

Case Study Assessment At A Birmingham Podiatry Clinic
Case study assessment.
A 47 year old female patient attends a Birmingham podiatry clinic with callus and heloma durum presenting on the plantar
surface of the 1st MTPJ of the left foot. The patient is generally fit and well, and requires routine treatment.
To enable the podiatrist to treat callus and corn, they must first understand the biological process that leads to the
pathology. Callus, or hyperkeratosis, a diffuse area of relatively even thickness (Lorimer et al.1997), is formed from
hypertrophy of the superficial layer of the epidermis, the stratum corneum, and reduced desquamation rate causing the skin
to increase layers and harden (Fig 1). Mechanical stresses on the skin, for example the compression and friction from

Writing Style Fit For All Audiences
Molding A Writing Style Fit For All Audiences
My goal is to learn how to make my writing flexible to satisfy different groups while keeping it on point. When looking at
my current work and self reflecting I quickly recognized that my writing was sloppy and liberal. Why are my writings
producing these kind of results? I formed a conclusion that my High School teachers were to blame. I was so stuck on
robotically writing summaries for teachers, including English teachers, that I rarely had the chance to think for myself. I
never had the opportunity to actually learn how to write in my own words, even when the teacher said write in your own
words . There was always an agenda to follow, never your own opinion, never the I . ... Show more content on

I also found it very useful to critique, reflect, ask other people opinions and read my work aloud. This allows me to get a
second and third opinion on my work. The exercise that we did in class where we swapped essays, convinced me that a
second set of eyes is very handy.
There is yet another issue that arises. Because I never learned a writing process, how would I start forming my own? I
figured the best way to start is to learn from others. In order to become a good writer I would have to learn the jargon that
is literature. For example after reading Orlean Anderson s journal I chose Bob Ingalls to be sort of my mentor in my
middle draft. Like Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars, he would mentor this Luke Skywalker in the ways of proper writing. He
brought up many points that really interested me. With his advice I will form my own writing process by imitating style,
reading and building upon an author s ideas. I should be getting my ideas from authors and writers who know what they re
doing. With this in mind, I can shed the High School English approach of write down what we want you to write down, not
write down what is on your mind . They could ve at least taught us as students how to come up with ideas and focus on
quality, rather than focusing on volume and tell us to write more to fix our writing which is redundant. They focused on
interpreting authors and not emulating them.

Booker T Washington And W. E. B Dubois Summary
1. Describe the intellectual debate between Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois about improving conditions for
African Americans, and explain whose opinion you would support and why. Why not the other argument?
Booker T Washington and W.E.B Dubois are two African American leaders who took a different look at discrimination and
segregation experienced by African Americans. Booker T Washington wanted to take an approach to being discriminated
against African Americans are going to have to learn how to put up with this. Washington took what he considered to be a
more practical approach to these problems he emphasized discrimination and segregation for the time being. He also said
that if African Americans would like to make more money than they need to do things that people need or want. Basically,
he said African American people need to be or learn skilled trades to earn more money and improve their lives. Booker T
Washington didn t want anybody else he just wanted African American people to put up with discrimination. He wanted
African Americans to cope with this. Booker T Washington also didn t challenge social segregation. He did not want to be
a part of any violence so that s why he didn t challenge it because he knows that if he would have challenged the racist
people then he probably would have got killed. He wanted black people to prove themselves to racist people. Black people
would need to be able to do certain things that racist people can do but African

The Theory Of Science And Technology
Alan Gonzalez
5/6A
College Algebra
Science and technology is important to society and is often used in our everyday lives. We often have no idea how science
and technology really affect us. We work and live in a world driven by technology and science. Science is crucial because
it has helped form the world that we live in today. Charles Robert Darwin was an English geologist and naturalist, best
known for his significant addition to the science of evolution. He had a theory that all species have inherited traits over
time from common ancestors, and in a partnership with Alfred Russel Wallace introduced his scientific theory that this
pattern of evolution resulted from an action that he called natural selection, in which the struggle for ... Show more content

The purpose of the trip was to take a five year survey trip around the world Commanded by Captain Robert FitzRoy. The
voyage would prove the opportunity of a lifetime for the Charles Robert Darwin.
The HMS Beagle set out on its voyage far and wide with Darwin on board on December 27, 1813. Over the course of the
excursion, Darwin recovered an assortment of characteristic examples, including fossils, birds, and plants. Through
extreme research, he had an exceptional opportunity to watch the standards of topography, zoology, and natural science
nearly. South America, The Galapagos Archipelago, and The Pacific Island were of sure enthusiasm to Darwin. Charles
Darwin started to review his discoveries in the Diary of Examines, distributed as a component of Chief FitzRoy s bigger
report and later altered into the Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle, once Darwin came back to Britain in 1836. The
voyage enormously affected Darwin s perspective of common history. He started to grow a significant hypothesis about the
start of living creatures that was inverse to the famous perspective of different naturalists at once.
Darwin s involvement with examples across the world brought up vital issues. Different researchers trusted that all species
either appeared toward the beginning of the world, or were made after some time in natural history. In either case, the
species were accepted to stay much the same all through time.

A Free Appropriate Public Education Essay
1. A Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE): All children with disabilities, regardless of the type or severity of their
disability, shall receive a free, appropriate public education. This education must be provided at public expense that is,
without cost to the child s parents. An individualized education program (IEP) must be developed and implemented to
meet the unique needs of each student with a disability. The IEP specifies the child s unique educational needs, states
present levels of performance, identifies measurable annual goals and short term objectives, and describes the specific
special education and related services that will be provided to help the child attain those goals and benefit from education .
2. Appropriate Evaluation: Schools must use nonbiased, multifactored methods of evaluation to determine whether a child
has a disability and, if so, whether special education is needed. Testing and evaluation procedures must not discriminate on
the basis of race, culture, or native language. All tests must be administered in the child s native language, and
identification and placement decisions cannot be made on the basis of a single test score. These provisions of IDEA are
known as protection in evaluation procedures .

Four Types of Measurement Scales
Introduction There are four measurement scales, or types of data, nominal, ordinal interval and ratio. These four
measurements are simple ways to categorize different types of variables. This paper will discuss the usage of each scale.
Nominal
Nominal scales are the most commonly used in marketing research. Nominal scales are used for labeling variables, without
any quantitative value. In fact, Nominal scales could be called labels . Nominal are categories with numbers assigned to
them to facilitate analysis. A nominal scale partitions data into categories that are mutually exclusive and collectively
exhaustive, implying that every bit of data will fit into one and only one category and that all data will fit somewhere on

hierarchy, the current level includes all of the qualities of the one below it and adds something new. In general, it is

U.s. Counterintelligence And Covert Operations
U.S. Counterintelligence and Covert Operations
Counterintelligence (CI) involves actions aimed at protecting the United States against foreign intelligence operations and
espionage from penetration and disruption by hostile nations or their intelligence services (Lowenthal, 2014). Three main
components of Counterintelligence include collection, defensive and offensive. Collection is ability to gather intelligence
information about rivalry capabilities against own nation; defensive part of CI involve measures to prevent and thwarting
other nations attempts to penetration into own nations intelligence system; while offensive deal with running double agents
to penetrate, manipulate, exploit, and control targeted adversaries. CI is said to be the most essential aspect of the
intelligence disciplines, in the sense that collecting vast quantities of secret information and produce excellent analysis of
the intelligence, but ineffective counterintelligence measures may diminish confidence the final results (Van Cleave, 2013).
According to Federal Bureau of Investigation (2011) Significant advances have been made in clarifying and rectifying
intelligence gaps and requirements through the formation of liaison and working relationships with other U.S. intelligence
community agencies, foreign partners, the private sector, and academia . For instance, since 2001, FBI CI program has
resulted to total arrests of 249, of which 46 of them were linked to espionage. Counterintelligence (CI)

The Mystery Of The Myth
The myth is the belief that some languages just aren t good enough because they do not fulfill certain criteria. Criteria such
as not being able to act as a medium of speech to express new ideas, to speak of science, to speak of high literature, and to
be used internationally without having to borrow vocabulary from other languages. English is probably the most infamous
case of this myth being false. As we know it English is probably one of the most widely spoken languages. English has the
ability to clearly express ones ideas, converse scientific terms, and speak of high literature. However many of English s
vocabulary are borrowed from Latin, French, and many other languages. Under the criteria of those that believe that some
languages are not good enough, English is not good enough as a language since it borrows vocabulary from other
languages. But this is not true since English is a very prominent language and is very able to express new ideas of all
kinds. Another famous example that can be used to debunking this myth would be in the case of Latin. When Latin first
arose the Greek s believed that Latin just wasn t good enough to be able to express complex thoughts. However as we
know today this is terribly false. Latin was one of the most wide spread languages that we know of today. Latin was also at
one time a lingua franca. It was used as a common language between speaks of different native languages to express ideas.
Not only was Latin used in science,

I See The Desktop Picture Of My Grandfather s Computer Essay
Whenever I see the desktop picture of my Grandfather s computer, I remember the date of my new journey. It s a pretty old
photo and the background of it is a huge billboard with the phrase of Bon Voyage in Chinese. What s more interesting is
how the two boys in the front are expressing two totally opposite facial expressions. The older one is trying his best to hold

of departure times are a bit inharmonious to the overall setting, but it s the last picture before the older boy bursted into
tears. I can still remember every details before and after that day. It s a normal Tuesday morning of my summer. Unlike the
any usual morning, today, I wake up with the chatter of the sparrows. As the warm orange embraces me through the French
windows in my bedroom, I change into the clothes that were place on my drawer since Sunday. While I was rushing out of
the house to say goodbye to my friends, I can still see the unfinished Lego on the couch since the first day of vacation, but
addition to that, there are twelve colorful suit cases and some of my Grandparents friends in the living room. After some

Theme Of Isolation In Countee Cullen s Poem
At times many individuals feel isolated and disconnected with society. Literary works by Countee Cullen, Paul Laurence
Dunbar, and Robert Frost depicts an individual s isolationism and alienation within society. In Countee Cullen s poem
Incident , the speaker tells of a distant flashback of how they first handly experienced being called out a derogatory name
from the lips of an eight year old. In Langston Hughes I, Too , the speaker expresses their witful sentiments in being forced

McKay uses simile in If We Must Die to show how and make readers feel a sense of isolation when individuals are
constantly tormented to discourage them from being accepted in society. In the poem, the speaker valiantly expresses their
desires to fight to the very end, as their enemies hunt them like a pack of savage dogs, all the while cornering them into
submission and death. The speaker says, If we must die, let it not be like hogs/ Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,/
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,/ Making their mock at our accursed lot (page 19). The speaker compares
himself and his group of supporters as hogs, making a statement to not be hunted and to be killed like cattle. The speaker
also compares the mad and hungry dogs as the other offending party tormenting the speaker and his supporters. The overall
message the speaker is trying to make is that, if the speaker is going to die, he d rather not die like a cattle who is cornered
by the mad dogs , which represents the people in the society who are not accepting of the speaker nor his supporters. This
is inferred as how the speaker is chased out by the other offending party, showing a connection to how the speaker is being
alienated because he does not have a place in society. The people in the society, also referred to as mad dogs are chasing

Should Companies Invest in Virtual Mentors?
Turbocharge your career by cultivating multiple channels for information flow
Having a mentor has always helped with professional development and career advancement, but in today s complex
workplace, one mentor won t do. To spark innovation and ideapreneurship, employees often require relevant information
on multiple areas of expertise in real time. That s why there is a need for multiple mentors and expertise from various
domains. The good news is the rapid expansion of social media inside and outside companies has made it possible for
aspiring leaders to hone their craft from the very best experts in many domains via the internet or Knowledge Management
(KM) systems. They can become your virtual mentors.
That is the finding of a study we conducted (financially supported by The SHRM Foundation) of HCL Technologies

Cloud Storage For The Field Of Pre Construction
Cloud Storage
Cloud storage is one of the important application of mobile technology. Cloud storage can be described as a service, which
allows you to manage and maintain the data remotely. Cloud storage allows you to save your files online, so that you can
access it from anywhere in the world with the help of internet. Additionally, cloud storage syncs the data making sure that
all the devices contain the same data. Any project manager knows how difficult it is to have access to current information
and many conflicts can be avoided if the same information is available to all the parties in the project. Another important
use of cloud storage is in the field of Pre Construction. For example, Cloud Takeoff is an application which allows the
estimators to perform digital takeoffs on any platforms, from windows or Mac or IOS or Android. Since these takeoffs are
present in cloud, users can collaborate on the documents using different devices. Cloud Takeoff can do tasks which can

were published in 1869 under the title Good Wives Louisa (1869). Louisa May Alcott s personal life is demonstrated in the
first book hence acting as a form of semiautobiographical where it largely reflects on the experiences as she grows up with
her sisters in New England. She was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania on November 29, 1832 (Reisen). Thus, the book
reflects her personal live with the authors demand on the need to know whether who of the sister married forcing her to
add the book. The second book illustrated how Jo married Laurie with Alcott herself remaining unmarried all her life hence
forcing her to write the sequel by departing from the autobiography by writing may feel straight up fiction. However,
without her personal experiences the other part of the novel may feel less realistic. Little Women has been largely popular
since the initial publication for over 140 years where it largely appealed to readers young and old, male and female
(Myerson). This was based on the major trend of the novel as based on the lifelong lovers who are female. The novel has
been transformed into

  • 2. The Human Eyes Of Primates Sclera One of the most variable aspects of the eyes in primates is the sclera. The sclera in primates comes in multiple different pigments and SSI as seen in figure 2. In research on human eyes, evidence concludes that through the sclera, health, age and emotion can be detected; redden or yellow sclera detects decreased health, increased age, and even emotions of sadness or irritation, whereas bright white sclera represents increased overall health [4]. The true purpose for the evolution of the sclera is not completely clear, but many implications can be made to help researchers better understand the complex evolution of the eye. One of the major topics for research on the eye is the discovery that the purpose of the white sclera is to amplify gaze direction whereas the darker colored sclera is to do the opposite; hide gaze direction from predators [5]. Not only can the sclera help detect emotion and gaze but is a major factor in the evolution of communication between primates. The majority of organisms that fall into the category of primates tend to live in relatively large group size and work together within their habitats to increase the overall survival rate. There are multiple benefits of living in larger groups which include increased genetic diversity, increased protection from predators and even more opportunity for developing learning strategies [7]. On the other hand, animals living in smaller groups do not necessarily have as much completion for resources or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Reflection of Media Use Essay Over the past week I have been keeping track of my media use. I discovered I lead a pretty repetitive technological lifestyle. Weekday mornings I start my media consumption via my alarm clock on my cell phone. Why not use the regular alarm clock? Because with a cell phone I do not have to get up and out of bed in the morning the snooze button is even closer to my barely awake fingertips. After hitting the snooze button at least once I make a point to check out Facebook because we all know everyone is constantly updating at 5:45 every morning. After getting out of bed, getting ready and entering my car for my 90 minute commute I turn to one of the older forms of media my car radio. I listen to Elvis Duran in the Morning each morning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On my lunch break I check to see if I have received text messages, personal emails, and of course see the newest updates of Facebook (slowly realizing how addicted I am to this form of social media). Lunch is usually simple, deli meat from Aldi s or a microwavable meal. I am not sure if either of these are purchased because of commercials I ve seen on television or out of convenience of making packing a lunch easier. On my way home I found I listen to the radio but not as closely singing along to some songs, shazming ones I may not know. I get home and relax by watching television. I will continue to browse Facebook (and admit to my addiction to it), look up recipes on pintrest. This past week I ve been super focused on Superbowl food as I am hosting a Superbowl party. I also have done research on the Seattle Seahawks as of late as they are my boyfriend s favorite team and I want to sound like I know what I am talking about. These pintrest recipes are having me go out and purchase the food required as they have in the past for other events. This form of media is possibly where I make most food decisions. Pintrest has also provided me with different wardrobe ideas and trying to imitate them on a cheap, affordable level. The best part of my Facebook addiction is the easier contact I have with friends who live in other states. Though I could text or call typing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Personal Narrative-Casey At The Bat Casey At The Bat I am ashamed of myself. Me, the so called mighty Casey, just struck out. This is how the story went. We were down 4 2. I didn t feel confident I was going to go up to bat because of my teammates were struggling to get on base. I looked at the crowd. They all had a look on them that told me I was the only hope. With two outs and one more to go I felt like just packing up my stuff. Before me was Flynn and Jimmy. With little hope that everyone had left I hung my head down in shame that we couldn t win. Then all of sudden Flynn got a single and Jimmy crushed the ball. This brought all of the glooming people right back up. Everyone that was watching us screamed with all their lungs. The baseball park was filled with excitement. And now I m up, the mighty Casey. I was nervous to go up to bat with runners on base and possibly be the leading run. But I didn t let anyone see that I was nervous. So I started smiling to show confidence. I went into the batter s box hoping to crush the ball like how I ve always done. I looked at the first pitch. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I looked right up at the pitcher. He then pitched the ball. I looked at it again and the umpire yelled Strike Two! I went right into the batter s box again. I held my bat with all my might and crushed it against the plate. I looked up right back at the pitcher, but this time with a serious look. Then everything slowed down when he was about to pitch it. I swung as hard as I could. I thought I just hit a homer in so I looked up in the air trying to track down the ball. Then all I heard Strike three! I couldn t believe I struck out. I was devastated. After that I couldn t hit the ball anymore. I wasn t the best player on the field. She doesn t really have many friends other than myself and about two other people, which I found weird and sad because she s really cool, high spirited, pretty and really, just an amazing person in general. Today, though, was the day I got to see a different side of her, the side that she had never shown anyone. Today at lunch she didn t eat with her friends unlike usual and she ate very little. No, there isn t, that s why I can t solve, or even cope with these emotional meltdowns... because there isn t anything wrong in my life, that I know of at least. • 6. Analysis Of Love Is Not All The poem Love is not All by Edna St. Vincent Millay stood out to me when reading poetry in class. The meaning of the poem Love is Not All is to remind someone that there is more to life than just love. For example, in a class discussion on September 26, it was discussed that love does not supply the necessities of life (Craig). This poem serves as a reminder that there are things in life that matter more than love such as, food, shelter, and water. The poem Love is Not All stood out to me because of my ability to relate to it and use it to help guide me through a bad break up. This poem stood out to me because of its deeper meaning. This poem reminded me that love is not all that exists and it is not all I have. When going through a breakup it can be very easy to say, I m never going to find love or I am going to die alone , this poem is a reminder that you do not need love to survive. When going through a bad break up you can lose sight of yourself and the things that are important. For example, line five in Love is Not All states, Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath (Millay 975). This means that love is not what is keeping you alive. This helped to remind me that even though losing the person I thought I loved may hurt, it was not going to kill me. This poem has a strong meaning of pushing through a hard time dealing with love. This poem shinned a bright light on the important things in life. Love is like a bonus in life, because it is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Substance Use Disorder And Substance Abuse Substance use disorder is defined as being a pattern of maladaptive behaviors and reactions brought about by repeated use of a substance, sometimes also including tolerance for the substance and withdrawal reactions. (pg. 294). The individual I will be talking about for the project is someone that came to crave a particular substance and rely on it every day. Their choice to devote so much of their time to their substance caused issues between their family and friends. Both family and friends started to drift away from this individual. It was almost like all they literally cared about was making sure that they got their substance. Their choice of substance was alcohol. The individual had built up a tolerance where if there was a longer period of time where they would have to go without they would start to feel anxious and get sweaty, that was their withdrawal reactions exposed. A lot of people that have alcohol use disorder specifically start off by developing their drinking problem in there young college years. It is the prime time to be pressured by your peers to try and drink until you puke your cuts out. For other individuals they are so lucky and it actually can be seen as being disorder that is hereditary. For the specific individual that I am talking about for this paper he developed it because a majority of his dad s side of the family had alcohol use disorder. Additionally, it is entirely preserved with its original details. The unique features of the cathedral are intact, and thus when one visits the place, he or she is likely to encounter the authentic architecture work as it was done many years ago. Chartres Cathedral symbolizes an atmosphere of awe and holiness (Katzenellenbogen, 2). As such, it was built for religious purposes. However, it attracts the nonbelievers as well. As a holy building, it has many glass windows to light the building. Due to its height, a double flying buttresses is used to support the high nave. The cathedral was the first building in history that used buttresses since it was considered as necessary for the peoples culture and as a sign of authority. It was built to reflect a symbol of power since the religious leaders engaged in politics too. The cathedral has many statuses that represent the Biblical aspects such as Elijah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Jeremiah, and Simeon (Katzenellenbogen, 9). The standings portray the Christian faith that was used by the architectures while building the cathedral. The justification of the bombing remains controversial because the city was neither a political center nor an industrial center contributing to the Nazi war effort. Finding Meaning In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha While writing about finding meaning in life, James Van Praagh said, We have all been placed on this earth to discover our own path, and we will never be happy if we live in someone else s idea of life. In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha, a man goes on a quest to figure out who he wants to be and what he wants to believe in. He meets up with old friends and encounters new people throughout the novel. With that said, Siddhartha could not have found meaning in his life without separating from his friends at some point. • 17. Daisy Miller Essay Daisy Miller by Henry James, is a study of a young American girl s rebuttal of all things proper and refusal to conform to social standards. One can see that realism is apparent throughout the text. The characters utilize free will throughout, are affected by their environment and familial relationships, and ultimately make their own choices. These choices eventually affect the outcome in an unhappy ending. Jame s creates characters that encompass both sides of the social sphere in this work. Winterbourne, Mrs. Costello and Mrs. Walker are all individuals that come from old money, a higher societal background, and expectations of what is deemed right and proper. In contrast, Daisy Miller, Mrs. Miller, Randolph and Eugenio are the opposite in many ways coming from an average societal realm and more realistic, modest lifestyle. Winterbourne has a rather telling conversation with Mrs. Walker and her statement to him upon asking what exactly it is that Daisy does that pushes too far sums up the overall reputation Daisy is establishing for herself. (she does) Everything that is not done here. Flirting with any man she could pick up; sitting in corners with mysterious Italians; dancing all the evening with the same partners; receiving visits at eleven o clock at night (James, p. 1537). For over a century, South Boston has been one of the most populated neighborhoods in the city. In the mid 1800s, it was the third most populous section of Boston. Over the year, new residential subdivisions have developed in the neighborhood. Each new subdivision has a unique character and architectural style. Telegraph Hill and Dorchester Heights were both created in the middle of the 19th century to house the city s growing population base. Originally annexed by Boston in 1804, this neighborhood really started to thrive in the mid 19th century when the Old Colony Railroad made reaching downtown Boston easy. Before long, it was a center of industry with shipyards, iron foundries and machine shops popping up everywhere. Today, industrial buildings can still be found on the northern side of the peninsula. Modern South Boston has many long time residents as well as young professionals. With its easy access to downtown, this area is popular among commuters. In our daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what makes those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they are. When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the business in a long term if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little social capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations and workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre s visit and learning packs of various social concepts from different groups day by day. What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce (2003). The diagram is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on deferent principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy. The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to maximize returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs through the production of goods and the provision of services by companies. The second system can be conventionally referred to as the public sector. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When looking at my current work and self reflecting I quickly recognized that my writing was sloppy and liberal. Why are my writings producing these kind of results? I was so stuck on robotically writing summaries for teachers, including English teachers, that I rarely had the chance to think for myself. Because I never learned a writing process, how would I start forming my own? I figured the best way to start is to learn from others. In order to become a good writer I would have to learn the jargon that is literature. For example after reading Orlean Anderson s journal I chose Bob Ingalls to be sort of my mentor in my middle draft. Like Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars, he would mentor this Luke Skywalker in the ways of proper writing. He brought up many points that really interested me. With this in mind, I can shed the High School English approach of write down what we want you to write down, not write down what is on your mind . Criteria such as not being able to act as a medium of speech to express new ideas, to speak of science, to speak of high literature, and to be used internationally without having to borrow vocabulary from other languages. English is probably the most infamous case of this myth being false. As we know it English is probably one of the most widely spoken languages. English has the ability to clearly express ones ideas, converse scientific terms, and speak of high literature. However many of English s vocabulary are borrowed from Latin, French, and many other languages. Under the criteria of those that believe that some languages are not good enough, English is not good enough as a language since it borrows vocabulary from other languages. But this is not true since English is a very prominent language and is very able to express new ideas of all kinds. Another famous example that can be used to debunking this myth would be in the case of Latin. When Latin first arose the Greek s believed that Latin just wasn t good enough to be able to express complex thoughts. However as we know today this is terribly false. McKay uses simile in If We Must Die to show how and make readers feel a sense of isolation when individuals are constantly tormented to discourage them from being accepted in society. In the poem, the speaker valiantly expresses their desires to fight to the very end, as their enemies hunt them like a pack of savage dogs, all the while cornering them into submission and death. The speaker says, If we must die, let it not be like hogs/ Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,/ While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,/ Making their mock at our accursed lot (page 19). The speaker compares himself and his group of supporters as hogs, making a statement to not be hunted and to be killed like cattle. The speaker also compares the mad and hungry dogs as the other offending party tormenting the speaker and his supporters. The overall message the speaker is trying to make is that, if the speaker is going to die, he d rather not die like a cattle who is cornered by the mad dogs , which represents the people in the society who are not accepting of the speaker nor his supporters.
