Competitive Gaming
You are presenting a seminar for new marketers on the topic of competitive gaming. Be sure to discuss
positive sum, negative sum, and zero sum games. Provide clear cut examples for each. Discuss the
ethics of the gaming. Research and share an example of a recent price war and how it turned out. Zero
sum, positive sum, and negative sum are terms that refer to the outcome of a dispute and all represent
reward of compensation. The sector of professionals that I am addressing in this group is businessmen
and the circumstance will be the frequently encountered one of negotiation where each tries to procure
something from the dynamic. Zero sum, positive sum, and negative sum can be also interpreted in
more common ways as win win, win lose, and lose lose situations. zero sum situation This is the win
lose situation where it is impossible for one party to advance its position without the other suffering a
corresponding loss. This is called a distributive bargaining situation where, for instance, money is
being reallocated between departments. The more money one department gets, the less the other will
receive. Another scenario is where one person will gain the job at the other s expense (only one will
receive the position). Positive sum This is where the total of winnings and losses is more than zero.
This happens when the size of the pie was somehow enlarged and there is more wealth to distribute
(let s say between the two departments) than there was originally, or

Viruses Essay
Computers have become much more important and popular to our society in recent decades. The
computer s ability to perform so many tasks speedily and reliably makes it useful for a wide variety of
purposes. Therefore much important information is stored on computers. Because people and
organisations depend on computers every day for a variety of significant tasks, it is imperative that the
systems which are used are protected from loss, damage and misuse. This essay identifies some
potential risks to computer systems and software and the safeguards that can be taken to minimise
these risks. A computer security risk is defined as any event or action that could cause a loss or
damage to computer equipment, software, data and information, or ... Show more content on

Users often select weak passwords. The two major sources of weaknesses in passwords are easily
guessed passwords based on knowledge of the user (e.g. wife s maiden name) and passwords that are
susceptible to dictionary attacks (i.e. brute force guessing of passwords using a dictionary as the
source of guesses).
Another type of method to gain unauthorised access is the exploitation of known security weaknesses.
Two types of security weaknesses exist: configuration errors and security bugs. Configuration errors
occur when a system is set up in such a way that unwanted exposure is allowed. Then, according to
the configuration, the system is at risk from even legitimate actions. An example of this would be if a
system exports a file system to the world (makes the contents of a file system available to all other
systems on the network). Then any other machine can have full access to that file system.
Security bugs occur when unexpected actions are allowed on the system due to a loophole in some
application program. An example would be sending a very long string of keystrokes to a screen
locking program, thus causing the program to crash and leaving the system inaccessible.
A third method of gaining unauthorised access is networks spoofing. In network spoofing a system
presents itself to the network as though it were a different system. Network spoofing occurs in the

Speak, Memory by Vladamir Nabokov
To some degree, every artist creates his or her own artistic life preserver, and in doing so resequences
and conserves their own artistic DNA so that it may be transferred onto another generation. Vladimir
Nabokov s memoir Speak, Memory, is not only that preserver, but the tug boat that it holds onto,
heavy and cramped with the memories and history that Nabokov retells his readers against the currents
of time. Speak, Memory operates thematically, not chronologically. Nabokov returns anew to his early
childhood and pulls in, as it were, the memories associated with certain themes. Then he turns,
changes directions, and sets off again. One such theme that resonates throughout the novel is that of
exile and deteterritorialization, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(79) Even early on in his childhood, Nobokov found those comfortable products of Anglo Saxon
civilization as nothing more than useful necessities. The extinct tradition learning that is taken on by
him is private multilingual tutorship, even if now it seems like a very pluralistic one as it included
both Russian, English and French at the same time. It is this because of this multilingual education
that Nabokov encounters less wonder in terms of cultural conflicts that usually plights other exiles.
Nabokov s traditional aristocratic background accentuates many of his experiences abroad, he
internalizes spiritual deteterritorialization and finds enjoyment within it. But it is also this spiritual
deterritorialization that follows Nabokov throughout his life that makes his account of his life seem
more artistic and disconnected, even if there is a profound emotional impact on the reader in the end.
While some moments in his life might evoke sympathy, like his retelling of his father s death, or make
readers to take a side, such as the incident with Nesbit during his time in Cambridge, Nabokov keeps
the reader at a distance by concealing his feelings in rhetoric. An example of this is the short
biography (173) of his father. Using vivid details to describe his father, one can feel the spiritual
resonance the experience had on Nabokov. And behind it all there was yet a very special emotional
abyss that I was

How Is Siddhartha Successful
Great achievement is always correlated with fame and riches, but is that all? What about happiness,
knowledge, and family? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the most successful characters are
Siddhartha and Vasudeva. Based on their pursuit of knowledge, evaluating themselves and their
psychological happiness, they have both become the characters that have lead a successful life.
Leading a successful life is no easy task, they are faced with many obstacles.
Initially, Siddhartha would ve been the successful character of the two, but thinking back on Vasudeva
and how he had his priorities straight from the beginning, it would make him be more prosperous in
life. The article How 9 Incredibly Successful People Define Success says, Zappos ... Show more

How Did Germany Influence The Us Foreign Policy
The U.S s strategic decision to amalgamate its German zone with Britain and France into one unit
while introducing a new German currency, and initiatives such as the Marshall Plan and Truman
Doctrine to contain communism contributed to their success against the Soviets. After World War II,
Germany was separated into four zones of military occupation run by the U.S, Britain, France, and the
U.S.S.R. During the division, the U.S and U.S.S.R competed for territorial and political dominance in
Germany because the country was a pinnacle for economic and social change at the time. The U.S,
France, and Britain believed a powerful Germany could enable democracy to prosper after the years of
Nazi dictatorship as well as Europe s economy. Thus, to strengthen Germany to encourage the
prosperity of democracy, Britain, France, and the U.S combined their respective German zones into
one unit while introducing a new currency the Deutschmark while failing to inform the U.S.S.R. As
West Germany became a stable western democracy, East Germany continued to grow as a communist

strongly opposed. The U.S. used the policy of containment to directly prevent the spread of
communism. Their first step into trying to contain communism was the Truman Doctrine, in which
Harry Truman incorporated the desire for containment, which vowed to support nations fighting
communism. Truman and Congress had pledged $400 million to fight communist revolutionaries in
Greece and Turkey. If Greece were to fall under the control of communist rebels communism might
also spread throughout the Middle East (Truman, 1947). Truman also convinced the Western European
powers to join NATO so that they could mutually defend themselves against the threat of a Soviet

Roman Catacombs Research Paper
This report will mainly be about the Roman Catacombs, I will also talk about how they came about,
what they are primarily used for, and also how these things go back thousands of years. Catacombs are
underground, which is a city of the dead with different passages with tombs in the side. Roman had a
law that stated that no one can be buried in the walls of Rome itself. Catacombs are made out of
different soils, these soils are solid and hard, they needed them to last forever so the people won t get
destroyed. It is astonishing on how they are still around today and you can go on tours to see these
catacombs. This soil is still around today and for the most part still together in several catacombs.

The walls, ceilings, and catacombs are made out of plaster, and they also used paint to decorate them.
This plaster last so many years and it was made very well and sturdy to hold thousands of people. In
the catacombs there are galleries at the surface of these galleries there air and sunlight provided. There
were many engraved things these things reflected the different things in society for example the wars,
slavery, and maybe even a depression era. When an era would end you really wouldn t hear or see any
other things on that event, as soon as it ended they didn t talk or engrave more things on that topic.
Another catacomb I will be talking about is the Paris catacomb. These catacombs hold many bodies
approximately six million people, this catacomb is in an ancient mined which is like a tunnel of tombs
for the dead people. Many of the catacombs around the world are somewhat different but in many
ways the same. It is neat to read about who had things engraved and what sculptures they had around
these catacombs. Catacomb Symbols: Symbols: Definition of

Comparing Edwards Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God...
Jonathan Edwards creates a more effective argument for the intended audience in Sinners in the Hands
of an Angry God than The Speech in the Virginia Convention written by Patrick Henry, by utilizing
various techniques. Patrick Henry makes a strong argument however in the end, Edwards sermon
grows to be more effective. Edwards creates the argument by strengthening the writing through tone,
structure, fallacies and knowledge of the congregation that became his audience. Henry s piece uses
methods of oratory persuasion but the actual topic of Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God has an
advantage from the start by appealing to fear, a fallacy of logic. Even with the strong basis The Speech

The tone appeals to several fallacies of logic such as, Bandwagon, Broad Generalization, Either Or
thinking, Appeal to Belief, Appeal to Emotion, Appeal to Popularity, Appeal to Fear, Appeal to
Consequences of a Belief, and Appeal to Tradition, all which impact the church congregation. The use
of tone that includes fallacies helps Edwards write a more convincing piece than Patrick Henry s
speech. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God becomes very effective for the intended audience when
knowledge of the customs and traditions that shape the impacted audience Become taken into
consideration. The typical colonist was usually a devout Christian and made church a huge part of
their lives. Jonathan Edwards believed that the colonists had begun to put less emphasis on God and
Christianity, as a result he preached this sermon to persuade the congregation to bring God back to the
focal point of their lives or risk the wrath of God and possibly the eternal torments of Hell. Jonathan
Edwards was believed by his audience of the congregation without a doubt because of his position in
society as a preacher. Patrick Henry s intended audience was the president of the convention that he

Unfair Dismissal
t is important to distinguish unfair dismissal from the common law remedy for wrongful dismissal.
The latter is a civil law remedy essentially based upon breach of the contract of employment. From the
point of view of the employee, there are significant deficiencies in this civil law relief as a remedy.
Because an employer is generally entitled under the terms of the contract to dismiss upon giving the
appropriate period of notice as stipulated by the contract, damages will often be limited to the loss of
earnings during that period. The civil law does not provide for a remedy by way of reinstatement.
There is no remedy based upon breach of contract for failure to follow appropriate grievance and
disciplinary procedures prior to dismissal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the employee lost on further appeal when Lord Denning held that for there to be a
constructive dismissal, the employer s actions had to amount to a significant breach of the contract of
employment. This therefore applied a contractual analysis more akin to the civil law wrongful
dismissal approach. However, as will be seen below, cases of constructive dismissal are now regulated
by the statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures introduced by the Employment Act 2002 (EA
2002). It will be argued that these new requirements have the effect of tipping the scales too far in
favour of the employer in many cases. Fairness Section 98(4) of ERA 1996 defines this concept: the
question whether the dismissal is fair or unfair (having regard to the reason shown by the employer)
(a) depends on whether in the circumstances (including the size and administrative resources of the
employer s undertaking) the employer acted reasonably or unreasonably in treating it as a sufficient
reason for dismissing the employee, and (b) shall be determined in accordance with equity and the
substantial merits of the case. It should be noted, however, that s.34 EA 2002 inserted a new s.98A
into ERA 1996 which provides that breach by the employer of a statutory procedure on dismissal,
which sets down the minimum procedural requirements, means that the dismissal is in any event
automatically unfair. (The

Difference Between Rigid And Rigid Constitution
Rigid and Flexible Constitution
Introduction
The word constitution is commonly used in at least two senses in any ordinary discussion of political
affairs . First of all it is used to describe the whole system of government of a country , the collection
of rules which establish and regulate or govern the government . These rules are partly legal , in the
sense that courts of law will recognize and apply them , and partly non legal or extra legal , taking the
form of usages , understandings, customs , or conventions which courts do not recognise as law but
which are not less effective in regulation the government that the rules of law strictly so called.

They lead us to think that a constitution which contains a number of legal obstacles to its amendment
will be hard to alter and will therefore be less frequently altered than one which contains fewer
obstacles or no special obstacles at all . It is thought that as the name suggest , a rigid constitution
owing to its intricate arrangement of amendment is difficult to amend on the other hand a flexible
constitution can be moulded in the manner a legislature wishes it to. But this type of distinction may
not be true , if the amendment procedure in regard to India is seen , then we can come to the
conclusion that the Indian constitution is not entirely easy to amend , owing to the provision of two
third majority under clause (2) of Art 368, but still we have 100th newest amendment in our
constitution and several other amendments still in pipeleine . The swiss constitution owing to its
amendment procedure can be said as rigid , but in fact it has also been subjected to frequent
amendments . The constitution of Australia , on the other hand , which has similar provision of
amendment as in Swiss constitution , has been amended very few times , as of 2012, 44 referendums
have been held, of which only 8 have been carried

Summary Of Dandelion Wine
An excerpt from the book, Dandelion Wine , was written by Ray Bradbury and published in 1957. The
story takes place in the small town of Green Town where a serial killer, The Lonely One, remains at
large. The main character, Lavinia Nebbs and her friends try to cope with the discovery of Elizabeth
Ramsell s body on their way to see a Charlie Chaplin film. Lavinia appears to be the only one not
shaken up by the horrible news, and after finding out that a conspicuous man is inquisitive about
Lavinia, the ladies appear to be on edge. Lavinia struggles to control her fear at the very end of the
story when she suspects that she is being followed by a figure, and the story ends when she arrives
home only to find that there is a man in her house. In stressful situations, fear naturally changes the
entire perspective of the situation, and is ultimately inevitable. Dandelion Wine is best analyzed from
the psychological approach because of how fear altered the character s perspective which enhanced
the setting of the story.
The ravine that runs through Green Town is an important geographical factor of the story since it is the
place where the Lonely One hid Elizabeth Ramsell s body. Ray Bradbury also uses the ravine to echo
Lavinia s perception of it before and after her fear of the Lonely One was revealed. On page two is
states, Lavinia looked and the ravine was a dynamo that never stopped running, night or day; there
was a great moving hum, a bumbling and murmuring of

Abnormal Psychology
The Debate Dr.Szasz vs. Dr.Ellis
The debate between these two doctors was very interesting and raised many interesting questions. The
men discuss mental illness and their different opinions on the issue. While Dr. Szasz is the creator of a
very popular movement in this era, Dr. Ellis disagrees with his idea and is very adamant about letting
him know this. The debate is rather cordial to begin with, but quickly elevates into what seems to be a
very personal matter. Both doctors presented good arguments and the audience seemed to be very
intrigued by what they had to say. Dr. Ellis s argument throughout the debate is mostly a response to
the theory put forth by Dr. Szasz. All of his points and contentions are ... Show more content on

The field of psychology was affected greatly by this debate. While I do feel that Dr. Szasz won the
debate, I agree with Dr. Ellis. His argument is more defensive and, in my opinion, not as well
prepared, but still, I agree with the fact that mental illnesses do exist. There are certainly people in
society who have mental illness, and need the help of psychologists, and in some cases, medication.
The example of criminals by Dr. Ellis is a perfect example of this. From my personal experience, I
certainly believe that there are criminals who are mentally ill. Both of my parents work at a federal
prison facility, and have worked there for a number of years. From the things they have shared with
me, and the things I have personally observed, I certainly feel that there are mental illnesses in our
society. While everyone may be somewhat irrational and self destructive, there are members of society
that display these attributes much more clearly than others. These people, in my opinion, can be
classified as mentally ill.
I feel like this debate was great for the field of psychology. Regardless of who won, or what some
people may or may not believe, the debate raised many important questions that helped the field of
psychology grow. Along with the field as a whole, many specific

Was Lizzie Borden A Serial Killer
Lizzie Borden is a very known serial killer but not by killing plenty of people, but only killing her
father and step
mother. Along with her time period, the late 1800 s, it was very unknown for women to
be killers and were seen as the weaker sex , which is also one of the reasons why Mrs. Borden was so
popular for this case. But how do you get away with a murder of your parents?
Lizzie Borden was born on July 19th, 1860 in Fall River, Massachusetts. First born,
Emma Borden, was very prepared at age of 6 to have a baby sister (Alice) and teach her how to love
and would protect her from anything. Unfortunately, Alice died at the age of 2 from hydrocephalus,
which is water in the brain. On Emma s 9th birthday, she was even more prepared to take ... Show

Lizzie did not make friends easily but to her, she didn t really need many; all she needed was her sister
who promised her birth

thought that Sarah had a bipolar disorder which is very generic and can be passed down by family
members. Sarah also had fits of anger which is also genetic like anger issues.
Emma , for a year and a half, left to go to Wheaton Female Seminary and was very nervous that this

The Significance Of The Title Of The Catcher In The Rye
Sarah Sjoholm
Mr. Gott
Scale English 4
30 October 2017
In many novels the title of the story is more important than most people initially think. It often reveals
important information about the story. The Catcher in the Rye is a title whose significance gradually
becomes apparent as the novel progresses. Written by JD Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye is a coming
of age novel in which the main character, Holden Caulfield, wishes to preserve the innocence of
children. Through the title, this theme is portrayed and emphasized. The title of this novel takes its
name from a line in a poem by the poet Robert Burns.
In the novel, the first clue to the significance of the title that you are introduced to is when a little boy
is singing as he strolls through the park. In chapter 16, Holden listens to a child singing to himself If a
body catch a body coming through the Rye. Holden describes the little boy in terms of innocence: The
kid was swell. He was walking in the street, instead of on the sidewalk, but right next to the curb. He
was making out like he was walking a very straight line, the way kids do, and the whole time he kept
singing and humming. Holden also comments on how the child s parents are paying no attention to
him. To Holden the little boy represents innocence and youth untouched by adult corruption. Listening
to the boy sing makes Holden feel less depressed.
The Next time the title is mentioned is in chapter 22. Holden s sister Phoebe asks him what he aspires

Too Much to Bear in The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
Too Much to Bear The things I carry are both figurative and literal. I carry a pen, a pencil, a textbook
or two, and paper. I carry memories, experiences, pain, guilt, cowardice, love and happiness. In the
novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien, O Brien centralizes on why people carry what they
do, physical or not. To be honest, I carry what I do because I must. If I don t carry that one textbook
that one day, I ll regret it. If I forget what it was like have my first icecream cone, what if felt like the
instant my mouth froze up and the inside of my head pounded so loudly I almost screamed, I will be
less of who I am today. What I carry defines me. In the novel, the tangible and intangible loads the
soldiers carry define them; such as Lt. Cross s who carry s a picture of and intangible feelings for
Martha. What the soldiers burdened themselves with was largely determined, emotionally or
physically, was by necessity. The tangible objects depicted in the book are especially relevant. The
author s style of writing is very elaborate only because he wants the readers to discern sympathy
towards the soldiers. The author tells us about the weight of the objects each of the soldiers carry to
supplement our overall total lasting impression. O Brien says in the first chapter, he recounts the literal
objects each soldier carried. As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the
standard M 16 gas operated assault rifle. The weapon weighed 7.5 pounds

Theme Of Comradery In All Quiet On The Western Front
The psychologist Sigmund Freud once said, Because every man has a right over his own life and war
destroys lives that were full of promise; it forces the individual into situations that shame his
manhood, obliging him to murder fellow men, against his will. He initially stated this when he was
corresponding with Albert Einstein via letter. This quote is also a great explanation of the events that
take place during war that people chose to not recognise. War is terrible, and no matter how hard we
try, nothing will change that. Erich Maria Remarque shows us that soldiers have endured dreadfully
throughout World War I in his book All Quiet on the Western Front . The character in the book, Paul
Baumer, endures through the tragedies of war with some of his old schoolmates as well as new
comrades that he meets along the way. They survive through all of the tragedies together, but in the
end, the war made them lose their friendships as well as their lives. The reality is that war comes with
consequences while it destroys people, and there is nothing that will ever be able to change that. The
book All Quiet on the Western Front shows how war comes destroys people s lives with its
consequences through three of its themes: the importance of comradery, the loss of innocence, and the
horrors and brutality of war.
Comradery proved to be a great importance to all of the soldiers throughout the war. Whenever
somebody would get into a troublesome time, there was always another soldier

Speed or Tempo: What is the difference?
Speed in terms of command and control is the ability to shorten the time needed to make key
decisions, plans, coordinate as well as communicate. Whereas tempo is acting at the right time as well
as acting the fastest or the earliest, the main importance between the two is speed is the ability to
shorten the time between the decisions being made whereas tempo, is implementing the right timing
on the battlefield. There is a large need to increase speed on the battlefield, whether it be speeding up
operations or slowing the enemies speed. Now which one allows the other to be more effective?

The Reign Of The Imperial System
Puyi was born in 1906 and crowned emperor in 1908. During that time, China had always been under
the imperial system, where one dynasty was ruled by one family, essentially through the idea of
heredity monarchy. Puyi, who had been proclaimed the son of heaven, followed tradition; however,
his time in being emperor was short lived as the Qing dynasty ended in 1912, introducing the Republic
of China. Oblivious to life outside the temple doors, Puyi continuously assured himself that he was
still in charge; it wasn t until in 1924, when Puyi was captured by warlords and forced to leave the
Forbidden City. In 1931, Japan invaded northeast China, and the officers surrendered to Japan. The
Japanese asked for assistance in establishing the Manchukuo, which was granted. In 1934, Puyi was
crowned to be a puppet emperor of Manchukuo under the control of Japan; nevertheless, in 1945,
Russia defeated Japan in northeast China. Puyi abdicated his thrown, was captured by the Russian
army, and arrested for betrayal.
Puyi is important because he was the last emperor that marked the complete end to China s long
timeline of dynasties. Through his experience, he had witnessed and held gargantuan amount of power
over so many people, just for that power to be stripped from him. Though Puyi didn t like it, he
basically was integrated into a modernized society, where even he could be punished under the law.
Ultimately, Puyi plays a role in modern Chinese society, as it is a learning

The Creator Of Star Wars
In the George Lucas film, the creator of Star Wars, has very strong Hindu beliefs. Similar to Hinduism
affecting our lives, so has it affected his to an extent, which can also be seen by the fact that he has
incorporated Hindu themes throughout the Star Wars film. This essay will explain, through different
examples, the way Lucas has pushed Hinduism into this movie. In the movie, The Empire Strikes
Back, it seems to portray some type of Hinduism in the first parts. Moreover, In the scene when Luke
Skywalker goes to find Yoda. As he arrives, Skywalker finds himself in a swamp or forest, trying to
find an old and wise master Yoda to learn the ways of the force. Later in that scene Luke gets a vision
that his friends are in great danger. Luke then prepares to departure to go save his friends. Yoda
persuades him not to go by saying that he must finish his training first because it is more important.
This specifies on the Hindu concept of job over blood. The duty over blood lesson can be looked as
examples in readings found in the Bhagavad Gita, where Krishna tells Arjuna to battle his cousin in
spite of his emotions for them, it is his job to do so. Towards the end of the training session, as Luke
begins to leave, Ben Kenobi tells Luke to never give into anger and hatred. This lesson is also taught
by Gandhi, which is explained in Hinduism.
Aside from the training sessions, there are several parts of Star Wars that portray examples of
Hinduism. An example of this would be

The Story Of A Dreamer
Before I knew it, the next summer had passed, and I found myself in the bustling streets of Diagon
Alley, shopping for school supplies unfortunately, with my family. Elara and Theodore were off
gaping at a shop window that was displaying the Nimbus 2000, which, I admit, was very aesthetically
pleasing. My little brother, who loved to play Quidditch, stood there with both of his palms, his nose,
and forehead pressed to the glass with a gigantic grin on his face. I chuckled at this, since Theo really
only ever got excited over reading books about bugs and magical creatures. It was nice to see him
marvelling over something else for a change. I turned away from my siblings and scanned the area,

He continued, in full view now. I blinked, surprised at his sudden commentation. He knew I was
coming? How did he know it was specifically me? You have? I asked meekly, my voice squeaked a bit
in surprise which made me blush a furious red in embarrassment. The sound of his rubber soled shoes
tapping against the rocky floor snapped me out of my embarrassment and my cheeks returned to their
usual pale color. He inched closer to me and smiled a toothy smile, and, as I noticed earlier, he was
still carrying a dusty, brown, rectangular looking box that had a gold engraving on the top. He
gingerly removed the lid of the box and his slender fingers wrapped around a long, cylindrical piece of
wood, it looked like. 13 Holly wood, with a veela hair core, astounding flexibility...yes, I think this
will do. The man who I had identified as Mr. Ollivander, the owner of the shop said, holding the wand
out to me, almost as if he was offering me money. I took it gingerly and stared at it for a moment. It
felt nice in my hand; it wasn t too light, but it wasn t too heavy, it was smooth and pleasing to the
touch, and I found myself feeling exhilarated, feeling almost as if I could take on the whole world and
win.

A Streetcar Named Desire Essay
The film A Streetcar Named Desire was an original play by Tennessee Williams then was later made
in film form by Elia Kazan. I think A Streetcar Desire Named Desire could be seen as a narrative
because it is based on one of the characters lives, it shares a story about this woman named Blanche
DuBois who was a schoolteacher is now on a search for what comes next in her life, like where does
she go from where she is now? Blanche is trying to find a place where she belongs and somewhere she
can call her own. My expectations from seeing the film A Streetcar Named Desire, I expected this to
be in depth about Blanche s life that she lives. The plot for the most part does convey her life and that
is good how the author/director was able to portrayed that and I think that is the most developed part
of the plot of this film, and even early on I see some different things from the play. I think this film
told a story of how Blanche went to live with her sister and she tried to help her sister from her
husband. The time that A Streetcar Named Desire was made since it was filmed in 1951, it was based
off the1940s during the time that World War II, which I think at that time it was a good fit in history. I
think that s film had an effect on society because, I think it shows the effect on how women back then
used to get treated by society, in this time period women were treated unfairly and unjust because of
the fact that they were women. A Streetcar Named Desire would be okay to

Introduction
In the wake of the dot com industry s collapse, the steep stock market drop, the rise of the dollar
against foreign currencies, increased unemployment, and other economic factors, March 2001
officially began a nationwide recession that triggered budget problems in at least forty five states.
The 2001 recession was the fourth recession in 30 years. After past recessions budget experts
recommended establishing a rainy day fund (saving funds during boom times in order to cushion the
shocks of economic busts). Wisconsin established the fund but never put money into it.

Remedies Proposed and Implemented
During a deficit lawmakers have four options.
They can raise taxes, cut spending, employ a combination of both, or employ a method of creative
bookkeeping .
The required spending cuts might have been reduced if the lawmakers could have drawn from a Rainy
Day Fund.
The other option was to tap into the tobacco settlement money that the state was supposed to get over
a 30 year period, the lawmakers decided to draw heavily from this fund.
Remedies
Act 16, the 2001 2003 biennial budget bill was passed in August of 2001 contained five major
initiatives. 5 percent cuts to state agency budgets delays in staffing new prisons use the proceeds from

High priority programs were exempt from budget reductions (these included assistance to the poor,
disabled, and the elderly, funding of K 12 schools, medical assistance, the court system, and public
defenders).
Three largest elements that remained to tax were the University of Wisconsin System, Shared Revenue
Fund, and corrections.

Evil And Evil In East Of Eden By John Steinbeck
Everyone possess those evil and selfish actions, the biggest are maybe closing the mouth, ears, and
eyes to what is going around, and instead stay self preserved. Is the world an image of how sinful one
can be? Or does it lay within your actions. In the novel East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Cal pursues to
understand and live his life with his loved brother Aaron, dad Adam, missing whore mom Kate, and
his trustful servant Lee. He lives in a life where his actions are defined from his ancestors, and allows
his descents to drown out his uniqueness. Lee s pure perspective of humanity along with his parental
care, and companionship with Cal allow him to educate Cal about the choice between good and evil.
The decision of every human being not only shows the evil or good of a person or the world, but will
determine the flourish or destruction of the world and humanity. Lee s ability to view humanity as an

What Is The Theme Of The Poem Good Night
The first stanza starts with the asking his father not to be soft on death meaning that he asks him not to
accept death quietly but to fight against it with full force, passion and bravery. Good night in the first
line refers to a good death, as it is clear that night represents death and the poet is motivating his father
resists death in a calm way. The use of the word rage shows the poet requesting his father to resist
death. The second stanza defines the attitude of wise men that realize that death is near. They can be
known as the men who will not accept death passively. They know that there is still a long journey and
a long way to go. Wise men in this case have unspoken words and goals to be achieved. Thus they

Burn and rave are usually associated with the passion of youth and thus the poet wants his father to
sing passionately. The close of day symbolizes the approaching death meaning that his father will
eventually die soon. In this case, the use of sad height may as well symbolize the closeness to death.
Gentle is used as an adjective that signifies the poet s father s personality. The poem: Do not go gentle
into that good night is structured in a villanelle. Thus the form of the villanelle reveals that it has a
refrain and self improvised lyrics in each stanza. Poetical devices are also used in this poem such as
alliteration that include the following: Do not go gentle into that goodnight Rage, rage against the
dying of the light. Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay is an example of a simile used in the
poem. Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray is an example of an oxymoron where the
poet is asking his father to bless as well as curse him. Dylan Thomas had also shown the use of
parallelism describing the actions of three different men: wise men good men wild men . The speaker
requests that his father has the qualities of these kinds of men. The poet had also used contrasts in the
poem to emphasize and focus on the theme, which include the following: Gentle and rage night and
day light and dark blind and sight grave and grey curse and

Fredrick Douglas and Harriet Jacobs
During the 1800s, slaves received treatment comparable to that of livestock. They were mere
possessions of white men stripped of almost every last bit of humanity in them. African Americans
were constricted to this state of mind by their owners vicious treatment, but also the practice of
keeping them uneducated. Keeping the slaves illiterate hindered them from understanding the world
around them. Slave owners knew this. The slaves who were able to read and write always rebelled
more against their masters. Frederick Douglass, author of A Narrative of the Life of Frederick

Douglass never received another beating throughout his last four years of slavery after that incident.
Harriet Jacobs on the contrary to Douglass, had no idea she was a slave until she was six years old.
Her first mistress treated her very well, almost as if she were white. She was taught how to read and
write. The majority of Jacobs family, excluding her father, served the family of her first mistress very
well, and the family returned the favor by treating their slaves with a little bit of dignity. Her mistress
also taught her the Bible. This teaching allowed for Jacobs to know the rights and wrongs being done
to her and other slaves. Harriet picked up on the conversations around her after her mother died, and
she figured out she was a slave from the discussions. After her first mistress died, Jacobs was put on
the auction block for sale as a farm tool. A man named Dr. Flint purchased her and her brother. Jacobs
depicted a gruesome scene of the auction block: These God breathing machines are no more than the
cotton they plant, or the horses they tend. (Jacobs, p.11) Jacobs real father was such a skilled
craftsmen that he had more feelings of a freed slave than most others, and in the raising of his
children, this thought pattern reflected especially William. This proved to make things rougher for
both Jacobs and her brother William with their new master. Jacobs

Colombia is a country that is characterized not only by its natural diversity, but also for its natural

drug trafficking, corruption and the lack of education. Colombian culture is formed from the
inheritance of the Colombian natives peoples present in the territory since ancient times, the Spanish

For our fall final this year we were assigned a task to collect 100 pieces of data for a survey question
of our choice. With that survey question we had to survey 100 students from the same population.
After collecting that data we had to input it all into a spreadsheet to find the frequencies for each
answer. With those frequencies we then found the mean, median, mode, range, quartile 1, quartile 2,
quartile 3, the interquartile range, maximum, minimum, outliers, standard deviation, and a z score. We
also had to create a hand drawn histogram and box and whisker plot.
My survey question was How many times have you flown on an airplane? . This includes down, to the
place that you are going, and back home. So in most cases the number of ... Show more content on

In my data the range was 60. Next, I found the quartiles that would be used for my box and whisker
plot. To find Quartile 1 you have to find the median of the data that falls under the median of the entire
data. In my data Quartile 1 was 0. You do almost the same to find Quartile 3. You find the median of
the upper half of the data. You can not use the median to find Quartile 3 so you have to use everything
above it. Quartile 3 in my set of data was 14. Finding Quartile 2 is easy because it is the same as your
median. To find any outliers you have to find the upper limits and the lower limits. To do this you
must find the interquartile range first. To do that you subtract Quartile 1 from Quartile 3. With the
interquartile range you then can add it to Quartile 3 and subtract it from Quartile 1. By adding the
interquartile range to Quartile 3 you are creating the upper limit and by subtracting the interquartile
range from Quartile 3 you are finding the lower limits. In this case all four of my outliers fell above
the maximum limit of 36 because logistically you can not fly negative times and 0 falls within the
limits. Lastly, I found the standard deviation of my entire 100 pieces of data. To do this I wrote all of
the numbers that would be found of the x axis ( 0 60 ). Then I found the average of all of these
numbers. I then found how far away the square of each of these numbers is away from mean. Then I
took that answer and found its mean. Next I found the square

Recovery Case Study
Thank you for your email. We just had a nor easter. It started Monday night and continued through
Tuesday. In a sense, many people are on the recovery mode today including us. They said Spring
officially starts on Monday but I am not seeing it. It is still in the low 20s plus the wind chill factor,
feels more like in the teens. Hope to see spring sometime soon. As you can probably tell, I have
started re working the analysis given the figures from Dr. Ogoshi and Dr. Murthy s team. If you have
followed the email exchanges, you probably noted that Dr. Murthy s team is using different yield
levels than us. I am not really sure why that is the case. At any rate, you may want to clarify with the
team when you have the meeting to ensure that everybody is on the same page. For the current
analysis, I am using the crop yields agreed upon with Dr. Ogoshi. I will also incorporate the jet fuel
processing cost calculated by Dr. Murthy s team. They have not gotten back to me on my follow up
queries. In the analysis, I will include the break even yields and break even prices for the two
bioenergy crops. I should be able to send the preliminary results by end of next week. To ... Show

position as their team is only seeking a doctoral student and not someone with a Ph.D. He told me to

think it best fits my current situation we only have a part time baby sitter and half of the time I have to
take care of Theo fulltime. Daycares in NY has a one year waiting list. At this point, I have applied to
dozens of jobs academic and non academic positions, but no luck yet. So, I am just waiting. I do hope,

Devotions In Catholic Religion
The Catholic Church has many devotions that popes, bishops, priests, deacons, and lay people say and
do in their everyday life. Devotions are practices of piety which is not part of the Liturgy of the
Church but is part of the spiritual practices of Catholics. Some examples of devotions Catholics
practice in their everyday lives are the Mass, the rosary, novenas, adoration in front of the Eucharist,
veneration to the saints, the Liturgy of the Hours, wearing scapulars and wearing medals, and many
others. Devotions are made to help people grow in their faith and love for Jesus.
The Liturgy of the Hours has three names. The three names are The Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine
Office, and the Breviary. The latin word for The Liturgy of the Hours is Liturgia Horarum. This
consists of mainly Psalms, added by hymns, readings, and other prayers. The Liturgy of the Hours is
the official prayer of the church, said many times in the day in order to sanctify it. Clergy and
religious officials have an obligation to say it because of the Canon Law as official representatives to
the church. The laity are expected to recite it whether it is with a priest, by themselves or with others.

This is the prayer of the church to Christ and with Christ. Bishops and deacons are required to pray
when the faithful are not present. The Liturgy of the Hours also forms the base of prayer within
Christian monasticism. The Liturgy of the Hours not only demands a singing voice with a prayerful
heart, but also a heart that understands the liturgy in the Bible, but mostly the

Summary Of George Orwell s Brave New World
Rachel Malloy 28 November 2014 APE 3 Complete Government Exploitation of Love The novels,
1984 by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley both showcases how the futuristic
totalitarian governments take complete control of their societies. In 1984, the government does it by
putting fear of Big Brother and the party into the people. Whereas in Brave New World, they control
them by having people take soma, a drug which does not allow people to feel emotions or really
anything. The views on love are similar but yet differ between the novels, in Brave New World, John,
a savage, comes to truly love Lenina which Lenina only understands as that she should have sex with
him. In 1984, Winston believes that he should have sex with someone he loves, which he thought was
true with his wife, but it turned out not to be. He later comes to love Julia which he sleeps with and
they are punished for it. Whereas in Brave New World, John s mother, Linda, is punished by being
sent to live with savages after falling in love. In the two novels, 1984 and Brave New World, Orwell
and Huxley both depict throughout their futuristics novels how the dystopian government functions in
controlling love and relationships in society but the punishments and views on love are much different
in the two novels. In the novel, 1984, the government controlled people by not only making them fear
Big Brother but also by watching them through the telescreens. Robert Hatch states that they not only

Future The Matrix
THE REIVEW ABOUT THE FUTURE THE MATRIX
Directed by Larry Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski
This documentary provides an entertaining and compelling introduction to the new biology. It shows
us what the future of medicine and healthcare will look like. Abilities that conventional science still
treats as anomalies but that frontier scientists are taking seriously. It provides some of the theories that
are reshaping the study of biology, health, physiology, and medicine. It s an ambitious film that hits
the mark in introducing the general public to difficult subjects (medicine, physics, healing) in an
engaging and easy to understand way.
The film is captivating in its content, presentation and flow, working from personal stories of healing
that defies conventional explanation to mainstream medical and scientific knowledge to frontier
theories and explanations. It leads us on a journey into the body that many people may find both
surprising and changing, taking us beyond the cells to the bioenergetics and bio informational fields
that may actually regulate the body and its systems at its deepest, most fundamental level. ... Show

Social Failures In We The Animals
In, We the Animals, Justin Torres uses animals to mark specific stages of his life. Torres alludes phases
in his life to characteristics of animals. In the beginning, being an animal is used to describe a sense of
survival; towards the middle, being an animal is meant to be wild and almost beastlike; in the end,
being an animal loses its negative connotation and becomes a form of acceptance. As the narrator goes
through these stages, he faces different social pressures one would find in America. From being
economically well off to homophobia, these social pressures in his life help him gain acceptance of
himself.
The narrator and his family were considered in the book to be economically disadvantaged.
Throughout the book, the family has a hard time making ends meet. The character Ma has to work
graveyard shifts and is constantly exhausted. The father also works at night and even brings the
children to his job because they do not have anyone to take care of them. For instance, the father in the
book decided to buy a truck in which the mother reacts by saying, How many fucking kids, and a
wife, and how much money do you make? How much do you earn, sitting on your all day, to pay for
this truck? (Torres, 64) As the family battles against economic disadvantages in America, the narrator
alludes to a feeling of survival: an animalistic style of survival. Animals are worried about what they
need which is to: eat, drink, mate, and sleep. They are not preoccupied about others

  • 2. Competitive Gaming You are presenting a seminar for new marketers on the topic of competitive gaming. Be sure to discuss positive sum, negative sum, and zero sum games. Provide clear cut examples for each. Discuss the ethics of the gaming. Research and share an example of a recent price war and how it turned out. Zero sum, positive sum, and negative sum are terms that refer to the outcome of a dispute and all represent reward of compensation. The sector of professionals that I am addressing in this group is businessmen and the circumstance will be the frequently encountered one of negotiation where each tries to procure something from the dynamic. Zero sum, positive sum, and negative sum can be also interpreted in more common ways as win win, win lose, and lose lose situations. zero sum situation This is the win lose situation where it is impossible for one party to advance its position without the other suffering a corresponding loss. This is called a distributive bargaining situation where, for instance, money is being reallocated between departments. The more money one department gets, the less the other will receive. Another scenario is where one person will gain the job at the other s expense (only one will receive the position). Positive sum This is where the total of winnings and losses is more than zero. This happens when the size of the pie was somehow enlarged and there is more wealth to distribute (let s say between the two departments) than there was originally, or ... • 3. Viruses Essay Computers have become much more important and popular to our society in recent decades. The computer s ability to perform so many tasks speedily and reliably makes it useful for a wide variety of purposes. Therefore much important information is stored on computers. Because people and organisations depend on computers every day for a variety of significant tasks, it is imperative that the systems which are used are protected from loss, damage and misuse. This essay identifies some potential risks to computer systems and software and the safeguards that can be taken to minimise these risks. A computer security risk is defined as any event or action that could cause a loss or damage to computer equipment, software, data and information, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Users often select weak passwords. The two major sources of weaknesses in passwords are easily guessed passwords based on knowledge of the user (e.g. wife s maiden name) and passwords that are susceptible to dictionary attacks (i.e. brute force guessing of passwords using a dictionary as the source of guesses). Another type of method to gain unauthorised access is the exploitation of known security weaknesses. Two types of security weaknesses exist: configuration errors and security bugs. Configuration errors occur when a system is set up in such a way that unwanted exposure is allowed. Then, according to the configuration, the system is at risk from even legitimate actions. An example of this would be if a system exports a file system to the world (makes the contents of a file system available to all other systems on the network). Then any other machine can have full access to that file system. Security bugs occur when unexpected actions are allowed on the system due to a loophole in some application program. An example would be sending a very long string of keystrokes to a screen locking program, thus causing the program to crash and leaving the system inaccessible. A third method of gaining unauthorised access is networks spoofing. In network spoofing a system presents itself to the network as though it were a different system. Network spoofing occurs in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Speak, Memory by Vladamir Nabokov To some degree, every artist creates his or her own artistic life preserver, and in doing so resequences and conserves their own artistic DNA so that it may be transferred onto another generation. Vladimir Nabokov s memoir Speak, Memory, is not only that preserver, but the tug boat that it holds onto, heavy and cramped with the memories and history that Nabokov retells his readers against the currents of time. Speak, Memory operates thematically, not chronologically. Nabokov returns anew to his early childhood and pulls in, as it were, the memories associated with certain themes. Then he turns, changes directions, and sets off again. One such theme that resonates throughout the novel is that of exile and deteterritorialization, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (79) Even early on in his childhood, Nobokov found those comfortable products of Anglo Saxon civilization as nothing more than useful necessities. The extinct tradition learning that is taken on by him is private multilingual tutorship, even if now it seems like a very pluralistic one as it included both Russian, English and French at the same time. It is this because of this multilingual education that Nabokov encounters less wonder in terms of cultural conflicts that usually plights other exiles. Nabokov s traditional aristocratic background accentuates many of his experiences abroad, he internalizes spiritual deteterritorialization and finds enjoyment within it. But it is also this spiritual deterritorialization that follows Nabokov throughout his life that makes his account of his life seem more artistic and disconnected, even if there is a profound emotional impact on the reader in the end. While some moments in his life might evoke sympathy, like his retelling of his father s death, or make readers to take a side, such as the incident with Nesbit during his time in Cambridge, Nabokov keeps the reader at a distance by concealing his feelings in rhetoric. An example of this is the short biography (173) of his father. Using vivid details to describe his father, one can feel the spiritual resonance the experience had on Nabokov. And behind it all there was yet a very special emotional abyss that I was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. How Did Germany Influence The Us Foreign Policy The U.S s strategic decision to amalgamate its German zone with Britain and France into one unit while introducing a new German currency, and initiatives such as the Marshall Plan and Truman Doctrine to contain communism contributed to their success against the Soviets. After World War II, Germany was separated into four zones of military occupation run by the U.S, Britain, France, and the U.S.S.R. During the division, the U.S and U.S.S.R competed for territorial and political dominance in Germany because the country was a pinnacle for economic and social change at the time. The U.S, France, and Britain believed a powerful Germany could enable democracy to prosper after the years of Nazi dictatorship as well as Europe s economy. Thus, to strengthen Germany to encourage the prosperity of democracy, Britain, France, and the U.S combined their respective German zones into one unit while introducing a new currency the Deutschmark while failing to inform the U.S.S.R. Edwards creates the argument by strengthening the writing through tone, structure, fallacies and knowledge of the congregation that became his audience. • 12. Unfair Dismissal t is important to distinguish unfair dismissal from the common law remedy for wrongful dismissal. The latter is a civil law remedy essentially based upon breach of the contract of employment. From the point of view of the employee, there are significant deficiencies in this civil law relief as a remedy. Because an employer is generally entitled under the terms of the contract to dismiss upon giving the appropriate period of notice as stipulated by the contract, damages will often be limited to the loss of earnings during that period. The civil law does not provide for a remedy by way of reinstatement. There is no remedy based upon breach of contract for failure to follow appropriate grievance and disciplinary procedures prior to dismissal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the employee lost on further appeal when Lord Denning held that for there to be a constructive dismissal, the employer s actions had to amount to a significant breach of the contract of employment. This therefore applied a contractual analysis more akin to the civil law wrongful dismissal approach. However, as will be seen below, cases of constructive dismissal are now regulated by the statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures introduced by the Employment Act 2002 (EA 2002). It will be argued that these new requirements have the effect of tipping the scales too far in favour of the employer in many cases. Fairness Section 98(4) of ERA 1996 defines this concept: the question whether the dismissal is fair or unfair (having regard to the reason shown by the employer) (a) depends on whether in the circumstances (including the size and administrative resources of the employer s undertaking) the employer acted reasonably or unreasonably in treating it as a sufficient reason for dismissing the employee, and (b) shall be determined in accordance with equity and the substantial merits of the case. It should be noted, however, that s.34 EA 2002 inserted a new s.98A into ERA 1996 which provides that breach by the employer of a statutory procedure on dismissal, which sets down the minimum procedural requirements, means that the dismissal is in any event automatically unfair. • 19. Summary Of Dandelion Wine An excerpt from the book, Dandelion Wine , was written by Ray Bradbury and published in 1957. The story takes place in the small town of Green Town where a serial killer, The Lonely One, remains at large. The main character, Lavinia Nebbs and her friends try to cope with the discovery of Elizabeth Ramsell s body on their way to see a Charlie Chaplin film. Lavinia appears to be the only one not shaken up by the horrible news, and after finding out that a conspicuous man is inquisitive about Lavinia, the ladies appear to be on edge. Lavinia struggles to control her fear at the very end of the story when she suspects that she is being followed by a figure, and the story ends when she arrives home only to find that there is a man in her house. In stressful situations, fear naturally changes the entire perspective of the situation, and is ultimately inevitable. Dandelion Wine is best analyzed from the psychological approach because of how fear altered the character s perspective which enhanced the setting of the story. The ravine that runs through Green Town is an important geographical factor of the story since it is the place where the Lonely One hid Elizabeth Ramsell s body. Ray Bradbury also uses the ravine to echo Lavinia s perception of it before and after her fear of the Lonely One was revealed. On page two is states, Lavinia looked and the ravine was a dynamo that never stopped running, night or day; there was a great moving hum, a bumbling and murmuring of ... There are certainly people in society who have mental illness, and need the help of psychologists, and in some cases, medication. The example of criminals by Dr. Ellis is a perfect example of this. From my personal experience, I certainly believe that there are criminals who are mentally ill. Both of my parents work at a federal prison facility, and have worked there for a number of years. From the things they have shared with me, and the things I have personally observed, I certainly feel that there are mental illnesses in our society. While everyone may be somewhat irrational and self destructive, there are members of society that display these attributes much more clearly than others. • 23. The Significance Of The Title Of The Catcher In The Rye Sarah Sjoholm Mr. Gott Scale English 4 30 October 2017 In many novels the title of the story is more important than most people initially think. It often reveals important information about the story. The Catcher in the Rye is a title whose significance gradually becomes apparent as the novel progresses. Written by JD Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye is a coming of age novel in which the main character, Holden Caulfield, wishes to preserve the innocence of children. Through the title, this theme is portrayed and emphasized. The title of this novel takes its name from a line in a poem by the poet Robert Burns. In the novel, the first clue to the significance of the title that you are introduced to is when a little boy is singing as he strolls through the park. In chapter 16, Holden listens to a child singing to himself If a body catch a body coming through the Rye. Holden describes the little boy in terms of innocence: The kid was swell. He was walking in the street, instead of on the sidewalk, but right next to the curb. He was making out like he was walking a very straight line, the way kids do, and the whole time he kept singing and humming. Holden also comments on how the child s parents are paying no attention to him. To Holden the little boy represents innocence and youth untouched by adult corruption. Listening to the boy sing makes Holden feel less depressed. The Next time the title is mentioned is in chapter 22. Holden s sister Phoebe asks him what he aspires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I carry memories, experiences, pain, guilt, cowardice, love and happiness. In the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien, O Brien centralizes on why people carry what they do, physical or not. To be honest, I carry what I do because I must. If I don t carry that one textbook that one day, I ll regret it. If I forget what it was like have my first icecream cone, what if felt like the instant my mouth froze up and the inside of my head pounded so loudly I almost screamed, I will be less of who I am today. What I carry defines me. In the novel, the tangible and intangible loads the soldiers carry define them; such as Lt. Cross s who carry s a picture of and intangible feelings for Martha. What the soldiers burdened themselves with was largely determined, emotionally or physically, was by necessity. The tangible objects depicted in the book are especially relevant. The author s style of writing is very elaborate only because he wants the readers to discern sympathy towards the soldiers. The author tells us about the weight of the objects each of the soldiers carry to supplement our overall total lasting impression. O Brien says in the first chapter, he recounts the literal objects each soldier carried. As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the standard M 16 gas operated assault rifle. • 25. Theme Of Comradery In All Quiet On The Western Front The psychologist Sigmund Freud once said, Because every man has a right over his own life and war destroys lives that were full of promise; it forces the individual into situations that shame his manhood, obliging him to murder fellow men, against his will. He initially stated this when he was corresponding with Albert Einstein via letter. This quote is also a great explanation of the events that take place during war that people chose to not recognise. War is terrible, and no matter how hard we try, nothing will change that. Erich Maria Remarque shows us that soldiers have endured dreadfully throughout World War I in his book All Quiet on the Western Front . The character in the book, Paul Baumer, endures through the tragedies of war with some of his old schoolmates as well as new comrades that he meets along the way. They survive through all of the tragedies together, but in the end, the war made them lose their friendships as well as their lives. The reality is that war comes with consequences while it destroys people, and there is nothing that will ever be able to change that. The book All Quiet on the Western Front shows how war comes destroys people s lives with its consequences through three of its themes: the importance of comradery, the loss of innocence, and the horrors and brutality of war. Comradery proved to be a great importance to all of the soldiers throughout the war. Whenever somebody would get into a troublesome time, there was always another soldier ... Puyi, who had been proclaimed the son of heaven, followed tradition; however, his time in being emperor was short lived as the Qing dynasty ended in 1912, introducing the Republic of China. Oblivious to life outside the temple doors, Puyi continuously assured himself that he was still in charge; it wasn t until in 1924, when Puyi was captured by warlords and forced to leave the Forbidden City. Geographic diversity can be found from tropical beaches to mountains of more than 5,000 meters in height with perpetual snows and the natural isolation of some areas has led to this diversity. Some of the most important cultural groups according to their location are the so called cops, located in the Altiplano Cundiboyacense; the countries, settled in Antioquia; The foresters, Settlers of the eastern plains; the Vallunos, settled in the area of Valle del Cauca; the coastal, inhabitants of the Caribbean coast, and the Santander, residents of the departments of Santander and Norte de Santander. All these groups are characterized by showing great cultural differences among themselves, which makes Colombia a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Statistics Assignment For our fall final this year we were assigned a task to collect 100 pieces of data for a survey question of our choice. With that survey question we had to survey 100 students from the same population. After collecting that data we had to input it all into a spreadsheet to find the frequencies for each answer. With those frequencies we then found the mean, median, mode, range, quartile 1, quartile 2, quartile 3, the interquartile range, maximum, minimum, outliers, standard deviation, and a z score. We also had to create a hand drawn histogram and box and whisker plot. My survey question was How many times have you flown on an airplane? . This includes down, to the place that you are going, and back home. So in most cases the number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my data the range was 60. Next, I found the quartiles that would be used for my box and whisker plot. To find Quartile 1 you have to find the median of the data that falls under the median of the entire data. In my data Quartile 1 was 0. You do almost the same to find Quartile 3. You find the median of the upper half of the data. You can not use the median to find Quartile 3 so you have to use everything above it. Quartile 3 in my set of data was 14. Finding Quartile 2 is easy because it is the same as your median. To find any outliers you have to find the upper limits and the lower limits. To do this you must find the interquartile range first. To do that you subtract Quartile 1 from Quartile 3. With the interquartile range you then can add it to Quartile 3 and subtract it from Quartile 1. By adding the interquartile range to Quartile 3 you are creating the upper limit and by subtracting the interquartile range from Quartile 3 you are finding the lower limits. In this case all four of my outliers fell above the maximum limit of 36 because logistically you can not fly negative times and 0 falls within the limits. Lastly, I found the standard deviation of my entire 100 pieces of data. To do this I wrote all of the numbers that would be found of the x axis ( 0 60 ). Then I found the average of all of these numbers. I then found how far away the square of each of these numbers is away from mean. Then I took that answer and found its mean. Next I found the square ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Recovery Case Study Thank you for your email. We just had a nor easter. It started Monday night and continued through Tuesday. In a sense, many people are on the recovery mode today including us. They said Spring officially starts on Monday but I am not seeing it. It is still in the low 20s plus the wind chill factor, feels more like in the teens. Hope to see spring sometime soon. As you can probably tell, I have started re working the analysis given the figures from Dr. Ogoshi and Dr. Murthy s team. If you have followed the email exchanges, you probably noted that Dr. Murthy s team is using different yield levels than us. I am not really sure why that is the case. At any rate, you may want to clarify with the team when you have the meeting to ensure that everybody is on the same page. For the current analysis, I am using the crop yields agreed upon with Dr. Ogoshi. I will also incorporate the jet fuel processing cost calculated by Dr. Murthy s team. They have not gotten back to me on my follow up queries. In the analysis, I will include the break even yields and break even prices for the two bioenergy crops. I should be able to send the preliminary results by end of next week. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jeffrey Sachs and was interviewed. • 44. Summary Of George Orwell s Brave New World Rachel Malloy 28 November 2014 APE 3 Complete Government Exploitation of Love The novels, 1984 by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley both showcases how the futuristic totalitarian governments take complete control of their societies. In 1984, the government does it by putting fear of Big Brother and the party into the people. Whereas in Brave New World, they control them by having people take soma, a drug which does not allow people to feel emotions or really anything. The views on love are similar but yet differ between the novels, in Brave New World, John, a savage, comes to truly love Lenina which Lenina only understands as that she should have sex with him. In 1984, Winston believes that he should have sex with someone he loves, which he thought was true with his wife, but it turned out not to be. He later comes to love Julia which he sleeps with and they are punished for it. Whereas in Brave New World, John s mother, Linda, is punished by being sent to live with savages after falling in love. In the two novels, 1984 and Brave New World, Orwell and Huxley both depict throughout their futuristics novels how the dystopian government functions in controlling love and relationships in society but the punishments and views on love are much different in the two novels. • 46. Social Failures In We The Animals In, We the Animals, Justin Torres uses animals to mark specific stages of his life. Torres alludes phases in his life to characteristics of animals. In the beginning, being an animal is used to describe a sense of survival; towards the middle, being an animal is meant to be wild and almost beastlike; in the end, being an animal loses its negative connotation and becomes a form of acceptance. As the narrator goes through these stages, he faces different social pressures one would find in America. From being economically well off to homophobia, these social pressures in his life help him gain acceptance of himself. The narrator and his family were considered in the book to be economically disadvantaged. Throughout the book, the family has a hard time making ends meet. The character Ma has to work graveyard shifts and is constantly exhausted. The father also works at night and even brings the children to his job because they do not have anyone to take care of them. For instance, the father in the book decided to buy a truck in which the mother reacts by saying, How many fucking kids, and a wife, and how much money do you make? How much do you earn, sitting on your all day, to pay for this truck? (Torres, 64) As the family battles against economic disadvantages in America, the narrator alludes to a feeling of survival: an animalistic style of survival. Animals are worried about what they need which is to: eat, drink, mate, and sleep. They are not preoccupied about others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
