Mercury Contamination
Mercury Mercury is a chemical element of heavy silver and white metal that is liquid at ordinary
temperatures. The main use of mercury is the making of thermometers and barometers. Sometimes
mercury is used as an electrode in the production of batteries. Mercury can be very toxic and harmful
to the human body. If inhaled it can cause destruction to the nervous, digestive, and immune systems
and can even be fatal. Mercury is found in many natural sources such as volcanos, forest fires, and
fossil fuels (coal and petroleum). Studies show power plants to be the largest source of mercury in the
United States. Humans can prevent mercury contamination in several ways. When shopping for items
such as thermometers, try to get them mercury free.

How Did Beethoven Change Music
Ludwig Van Beethoven, was the composer who changed music more than any other composer, the
sound of music and what the other composers that were to come after him thought. He wrote nine
symphonies, five piano concertos, an opera and many pieces of chamber music that jolted music right
out of itself. (Landon) Beethoven changed music by creating a new era called Romanticism,
influencing the other composers and changing the old methods by adding a special twist.
The first way that Beethoven changed music was by creating romanticism. Ludwig is viewed as the
most transitional figure between the eras of classical and romanticism of musical history. Even though
his first period was more conventional he grew tired of this and made his second time period ... Show

He took the old methods and twisted to match his style of thinking. As mentioned before, Ludwig used
a D major melody and a B minor harmony all at once. (Discuss) He then called this juxtaposed chords,
which were opposing the old idea where they generally did not mix minor and major chords. If he
changed the way chords were played, then obviously he changed music. Ludwig also influenced
Romantic composers by changing the ideas of programmatic writing. (Discuss) He changed the idea
of writing music from composing just to compose into actually creating a picture in the listeners mind.
Beethoven s Symphony Number Six was the first programmatic symphony where the music was
meant to paint a picture, compared to simply being a series of sounds. (Guthrie) The earlier works of
his period brought the Classical forms to the highest expressive point, expanded the formal, structural
and harmonic terms of his teachers Mozart and Haydn. (Guthrie) While he was influenced by his
teachers, he took their old ways and transformed them into a new version of thinking to help others
actually express themselves through the power of music. He changed the old methods into a new and
improved version. He held onto the old culture without wearing it

Agile Comparison
Comparisons...
Comparisons have become an inevitable and integrated with life and work. Even though myself most
of us don t like comparisons since every individual is unique and should never be compared for what
they are with others and comparison always make sense when it s made self, within, which can only
be the real truth. Even in Agile, it s advised not to compare two teams with their velocity, since every
team features and work are different. Saying that, certain situations, act and benchmark force us to do
so to really set the benchmark for others.
These incidents happened yesterday and both of them were related to Elevators and I could not stop
comparing the acts in my mind. That s when comparison probably creeps up isn t it,

Pros And Cons Of Embryonic Stem Cells
Should Embryonic Stem Cells Be Used To Cure Diseases?
Alan C
Embryonic stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are able to differentiate into any type of cell in the
body, and they are obtained from four or five day old embryos that are in the blastocyst stage of
human development. For example, an embryonic stem cell could turn into brain, skin, muscle, and
bone cells. Stem cells have the potential to cure a plethora of diseases, but they come at a cost. The
researchers that obtain these stem cells destroy the human embryo, therefore killing human life. The
use of embryonic stem cells should be eliminated because embryonic stem cells can be unpredictable
and can cause tumors, there are more effective stem cells that can be obtained without ... Show more

These cells were named IPS cells. Stem cells can also be found in adults, children, infants, placentas,
umbilical cords, and cadavers. These cells can then be reprogrammed into IPS cells. The difference
between embryonic stem cells and IPS cells is that IPS cells can be obtained without harm. These cells
have been proven to be more effective. Currently, according to a website called stemcellresearch.org
there have been seventy three adult stem cell research treatments, and zero embryonic stem cell
research treatments. Scientists have been successful with using IPS cells to treat diseases like
Parkinson`s disease, autoimmune diseases, stroke, anemia, cancer, heart attack, and diabetes. Dr. Oz
even said on the Oprah Winfrey Show, I can take a little bit of your skin, take those cells, get them to
go back in time so they are like they were when you were first made, and then they will start to make
that dopamine I think those cells, because they won t be as prone to cancer because they re your genes
will be the ones that are ultimately used to cure Parkinsons. If IPS cells are more effective than
embryonic stem cells, and can be obtained without harm, then why should researchers waste their time

Sonny s Blues Analysis Essay
It s repulsive to think you have to suffer that much (Baldwin 132). Many would argue that in life, pain
outweighs pleasure. Freud contends that although we are unable to reconcile with the truth because it
frightens us, each and every one of us has an unconscious desire to die. Death, according to Freud, is
the ultimate escape from the sufferings and hardships which define human life and reality. In Sonny s
Blues, James Baldwin confronts this dark truth about human nature in his character, Sonny. Sonny s
suffering becomes so unbearable that he refuses to accept it as an inevitable condition of the human
experience; he refuses to take it : But nobody just takes it, Sonny cried, That s what I m telling you!
Everybody tries not to (Baldwin 133). Rather than directly embrace death, Sonny seeks relief and
control in other, alternative forms. At first, Sonny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more one becomes dependent on a drug like heroin, the more control one relinquishes to the drug
itself. Eventually, Sonny is no longer in control, but rather the heroin and the people who provide it.
This becomes a gateway for even more suffering and pain. Luckily for Sonny, he has found an
alternative to this downward spiraling phenomena in music. But the man who creates the music is
hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order on it as it hits
the air (Baldwin 137). Through his piano, Sonny is able to grasp the chaos within and impose an
empirical order on it by translating it into musical notes. Sonny s escape into music then becomes the
conscious representation of the unconscious death instinct. By imposing order, Sonny is decreasing his
amount of suffering, and therefore moving towards peace and rest. The words of Sonny s brother,
upon hearing his jazz, are a testament to the power of music to transport us from the hardships of
everyday

Mayans And Aztecs Comparison Essay
When we compare how different people live, we tend not to focus on how it was all started and what it
means. We compare our history against theirs and see what we come up with, instead of seeing it as a
pure beginning. Comparing things can be seen as difficult due to the fact you can t find something that
may be similar instead of different, and just end up focusing on it. Whether it be against your own
history, or someone else s, you can end up missing a critical part that can make it the most interesting
topic on your mind! Religion, culture, geography, technology and achievements, and art. All topics
that are interesting in their own way. The Mayan s and the Aztecs are a good example. Their different
histories are what make them unique and they both have their own stories to be told, separate, yet have
a unique history that ends up being talked about together.
There are many religious beliefs of a Mayan, and they are formed on the belief that everything in the
world that we live in, contains some sort of sacredness. The terms that they used to describe the
sacredness was K uh and K uhul . This was used to describe the spirituality in the inanimate and

Taking a Look at Nuclear Meltdowns
Nuclear Meltdowns Everyone knows what it feels like waking up certain that a bad day is about to
begin. Perhaps the alarm clock didn t go off because of a power surge. Maybe the lights dim when the
hair dryer turns on, or a hurricane has knocked the power lines down and electricity can t be bad.
These scenarios are nothing compared to the day when a nuclear meltdown has occurred. A really bad
day is one when the power fails, followed by water contamination, followed by a disruption in food
distribution.
Chaos occurs, there is a collapse of law and order, fires emerge and looting begins. The INEPC,
NNSA, Office of Policy and International Affairs, Office of the General Counsel, and the Department
of Energy should provide more protective guidelines in place to prevent nuclear accidents. There are
about a dozen key agencies globally that work together to manage and regulate the nuclear industry.
The Institute for Security and Conflicts Studies cooperates with the
Security Policy Forum. The International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation
(INEPC) works closely with the Department of Energy s National Nuclear Security
Administration (NNSA) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to watch over the
commercial nuclear power plants. Every country involved with nuclear energy has its own committees
and agencies that must report. The INEPC and NNSA Office of Policy and International Affairs,

Prostitution And The Act Of Prostitution
The world s oldest profession, also known as prostitution, is considered a grey area in morality
(Thiroux). Prostitution is defined as selling oneself or one s talents for base purpose (Agnes). Contrary
to popular belief, there are plenty of arguments for prostitution and the act of prostitution becoming
legal. Coinciding with popular belief, there are more arguments against the act of prostitution being
legalized. While some consider the act of prostitution to be an immoral act others will consider it a
victimless crime. Most people consider it to be immoral and use arguments such as it cause crimes,
spreads social diseases and AIDS and it is extramarital and commercialized. The opposing argument,
which is for the act of prostitution say that it, is a victimless crime, is a safe sexual release and is not
socially acceptable and it could be controlled by the government (Thiroux). The underlying question
now asks, is the act of prostitution moral?
If you were to mention prostitution to someone, they will typically react with disgust. Furthering the
conversation on the topic and mentioning legalizing prostitution will be followed with shock or
laughter. Prostitution is a major part of what we call the Sex Industry, which involves all personnel
that are involved in both legal and illegal varieties of sexual commerce. This includes everything from
X rated magazines, videos and DVDs, to computer pornography to strip clubs (Weitzer). While the
Sex Industry made a whooping $97

The Creation Of Israel By John F. Kennedy

Global Perspectives
3/15/16
The Creation of Israel Israel was not created in order to disappear Israel will endure and flourish. It is
the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by
success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom. These are John F.
Kennedy s thoughts and opinions upon the creation of Israel. In the time leading up to the creation of
Israel, the Jews had endured much suffering through the terrible acts of the Holocaust. Jews have
proven to rise from the despair and the suffering that they had to endure and they ultimately created
something stupendous: their own country. There have been many obstacles in the way for the Jews to
do this, the biggest being the Arab Palestinians. The Arab Palestinians objected to the Arab Jews
forming a nation and if it were not for the help of the United States, Israel would have never been able
to overrule the power of the Arab Palestinians and take over the land for themselves. With tremendous
support from the United States, the creation of Israel exemplifies the joyous and magnificent
accomplishment that not only Arab Jews accomplished, but all Jews. In the time leading up to the
creation of Israel, the Jews were motivated to establish their own country in the territory of Palestine
with the support of other countries around the world. There were many contributions that lead to the
creation of

Canada s government is a democracy like the United States, however their style of government is
different. The Canadian government is based on a parliamentary democracy while the United States is

The character Judas Iscariot, betrayer of Jesus, is often portrayed in a negative way according to many
but when looking through the three films, The King of Kings, King of Kings, and Jesus Christ
Superstar, he is considerably misunderstood as to what his real desires are.
Although the four gospels tell similar stories, Judas is portrayed mostly similar but slightly different to
each person. Between the four gospels Matthew and Mark represent Judas to be very similar way and
the same for the gospels of Luke and John.
Mark wrote his gospel from a Gentile, Pauline Christian view and he did not portray them in a very

In this film Judas is played by an African American, which is uncommon, depicts Judas as loving
Jesus until the end. Many people questioned why judas race was represented by his villainy and
caused much controversy. The film of Jesus Christ Superstar is completely told by Judas perspective
and was main part of the movie. Throughout the movie he didn t seem to be evil or have the
predisposition to betray Jesus, he showed caring feelings and wanted what he thought was best for
Jesus. Something that I thought was interesting was after he betrayed Jesus he realize what he had
done and went to the high priest and begged for his money back and them to stop. He couldn t believe
what he had done and hanged himself. Judas caused Jesus anger much throughout the movie, He
seemed to enjoy the attention and did not like him trying to tell him to stop and shy away from the
crowd so he begins to ignore him. When Judas sees that he himself has lost control as well, he realizes
his mistake and the terrible, mysterious love that Jesus had for him. Judas echoes Mary s song, and
goes on to see that his friend knew all along what would happen. In the end of the movie Judas
committed suicide but his questions were never answered. He still remained angry with Jesus (and

UK vs USA
Similarly as with very nearly all domesticated clashes, the division between the homeland of the
united kingdom of Britain and what might turn into the united states of American was a movement of
insults, which adequately constrained the thirteen colonies to join as one voice against England. The
unity of the colonies became the method for various movements which later on lead them to their
independence. At the point when the thirteen provinces started their political solidarity was frail, then
again as Britain started to authorize more laws and duties on the pilgrims, their solidarity got solid as
they battled for their freedom. These four laws that made solidarity around the colonies conceivable
towards autonomy, also led them to form a congress. The Intolerable Act not just abused the privileges
of the American individuals, however they constrained all day by day living in the states. At the point
when this violation happened, the American Colonists knew their last end was to separate from Great
Britain. In March 1774, Parliament adopted (Norton), the first four acts that were passed to rebuff the
homesteaders for the Boston Tea Party. These acts that were passed damaged the privileges of the
American pioneers and individuals and set the stage for detachment. The first act was the Boston Port
Bill which was implemented on June 1, 1774, The British Government ordered (Parliamentary

Student Writers And Experienced Adult Writers Analysis
Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers by Nancy Sommers In Nancy
Sommer s article she explains how Gordon Rohman s and James Britton s linear models of writing are
primarily derived from our speech process and lack focus on revision strategies. Her research shows
the differences between how student writers approach revising their papers compared to experienced
adult writers. Student writers look at revision as changing words to avoid repetition, not to further
develop an idea or rethink an argument. They are simply reviewing the paper for redundancy and
taking the language of speech to the more formal language of prose (47). The students view the
creation of their papers as a series of parts and do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students focus primarily on grammar rules and put less emphasis on their textual structure and ideas.
One the other hand, experienced writers use revision to find the form of their argument and find their
audience, which helps them develop their intentions and executions. This leads them to develop ideas
and semantics geared for their reader in mind. Experienced writers review their work as a whole and
possess a nonlinear theory to revision (52). They strategize and theorize to recognize and resolve the
dissonance they sense in their writing (51). The experience writers theory has two elements of the
revision process which encompasses a holistic perspective and a recursive process. They consider
every part of their writing as a potential for change. Sentences, ideas, word structure, organization are
a few considerations an experienced writer ponders over while making revisions to produce a
rhythmic, communicative, well formed and balanced piece of work. The writers revision processes
occur during different levels and cycles of their writing. Students lack the ability to review

Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States of America, experienced some setbacks

his legislative goals. At one point, he worked as a sales clerk at a shop which soon closed down. The

The Sadness of Poverty in Frank McCourt s Angela s Ashes
It is not the rich man you should properly call happy, but him who knows how to use with wisdom the
blessings of the gods, to endure hard poverty, and who fears dishonor worse than death, and is not
afraid to die for cherished friends or fatherland.
In the novel Angela s Ashes, (1996) by Frank McCourt, a life of poverty is the only life this family
knows. It is a memoir about a young boy born in New York City. Frank, born ten months prior to his
brother Malachy, was raised in a small apartment with his parents, Angela and Malachy McCourt.

Soon after that, she had a little girl named Margaret. Margaret lived for a month and then she died.
That was the only month that Malachy never drank the whole paycheck and he never once came home
late singing any songs. Angela loved her little girl more than anything, especially because of the way it
reformed Malachy. After Margaret died, they moved to Ireland, hoping to get away from the poor
streets of New York and back to their families.
They found a home in Limerick, if you could call it a home. It was a room with a fireplace, a table,
three chairs and a big bed. With a family of six, it was a tight fit, but after nights on boats and trains, it
was heaven. Then came the fleas, which fed upon their slender bodies night after night.
Frank McCourt has a subtle yet striking way of telling his story like it was; miserable. The way he
described how little food they had and how close their family came to being homeless is amazing.
When telling about the twins deaths he states it so simply, I know Oliver is dead and Malachy knows
Oliver is dead but Eugene is too small to know anything. When he wakes in the morning he says,
Ollie, Ollie, and toddles around the room looking under beds. . . . Dad says Eugene is lucky to have
brothers like Malachy and me because we help him forget and soon, with God s help, he ll have no
memory of Oliver at all. He died anyway. Six months after Oliver went. . . there was Eugene, cold in

The Pizza Industry Is The Number One Meal Choice For...
The pizza industry is the number one meal choice for Americans. In fact, it is consumed so frequently,
that in the United States people, on average, consume 100 acres of pizza every day. The Industry is
mainly classified into two different sections, pizza chains and independent pizzerias. The top four
businesses in this industry are Pizza Hut, Domino s, Papa John s, and Little Casers, respectively. In
fact they account for 32 percent of the industry sales (Thompson, C 42). The pizza owners not only
compete with each other, but there is a new entrant to the industry, the frozen pizza. Furthermore, the
industry typically has four options of service for their customers. These include the dine in option,
delivery option, carry out option, and take n bake option. Most pizzerias position their stores in
convenient areas for their customers. The customer segment that holds 46.3 percent of the pizza
industry is people that are 25 to 44 years of age. It is believe that this is due to a majority of these
customers having children and needing quick meal options for their family. The overall performance

Introduction. I Propose A New Approach To Designing...
Introduction I propose a new approach to designing healthcare; a full swing towards primary
prevention and promoting respective and open minded discussion between patients and physicians.
Before the proposal of this new system, Alberta was plagued with an unsustainable system with no
hope of improvement; unbelievable burdens existed in emergency rooms and hospitals, and Alberta s
health outcomes were not up to par with the amount funding that was being given. Although higher
taxation may be the answer to this issue, I take the different approach of attempting to design the
system to work more efficiently, and place health back into the hands of citizens through
empowerment and respective relationships with healthcare professionals. ... Show more content on

This method ideally will shift symptom treatment and permit evidence based diagnosis with the
involvement of lifestyle factors. The last feature of telemedicine would be encouraging the use of
health helplines. Helplines are knowledgeable resources which aide patients to determine their course
of action when faced with a health condition. Moreover, helplines are key to cutting down emergency
wait times as helplines can offer alternative advice and recommend the use of other health resources.
Patient centred care is a concept which would alleviate the burden of emergency room trips and
promote health lifestyles among citizens. I believe patient centred care would increase visits to
physicians and allow primary prevention to be more efficient. Moreover, patient centered care would
allow a rapport to be built in a respective, open minded environment and physicians would be better
equipped to understand how a patient s lifestyle guides their choices and determines their risk for
contracting diseases. Managing chronic disease, for example obesity/diabetes, heavily relies on
guidance and lifestyle changes. In addition, patient centred care would be aided by telemedicine to
increase communication and available health resources. Likewise, along with telemedicine would
come a universal database for medical history which would be accessible to all physicians to
encourage a more comprehensive look at health and

Healthcare Is Necessary For Health Care
Healthcare is an option that a lot of people need and want as a benefit of their places of employment.
Healthcare is necessary for people to be able to live a healthy lifestyle. Everyone is in need of
healthcare at some point in their life and healthcare is something that is needed to help reduce the out
of pocket cost to the patient. Medical care is necessary but can be very expensive and those out of
pocket expenses can add up. Simple procedures can cost anywhere from hundreds of dollars to
thousands of dollars. Healthcare options help reduce the cost that people pay out of pocket for these
necessary but expensive procedures.
A majority of jobs offer some type of health care benefits to their qualified employees. These qualified
employees usually have to be considered a full time employee or work a certain number of hours a
week in order to receive health care benefits. Losing a job also means that person loses their health
insurance as well. This can be detrimental to a family that their only option for health insurance is
through the place of employment. Under the Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1985
(COBRA), the possibility of keeping health coverage even after a job loss is likely given that a
specific type of event has occurred.
What is COBRA? Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act is a law that was enacted in 1986 that
allowed employees to keep their health coverage when they are terminated from their place of
employment (Ross, Hayes). Job

How Legislation and Policies Influence Education in...
Australia is very a multicultural and diverse country. Consequently schools are faced with many
diverse students of different abilities and backgrounds. To ensure equity and fairness among students,
policies and legislations have been put into place to ensure diversity is being catered for and that no
student is being excluded from the education system. Some of these policies and legislation include:
The Disability Discrimination Act 1992, The Salamanca Statement, Disability Standards 2005,
Inclusive Education Statement, Disabilities Services Act QLD 2006 and the Melbourne Declaration.
As educators, it is important to acknowledge and implement these polices when planning

The teacher can encourage this inclusion by teaching the students, parents, and other community
members about negative stereotypical attitudes about students with disabilities by avoiding negative
words, such as disabled , or crippled , or handicapped and to promote positive ideas about disabilities
into class work, the student s play time and other activities. To further ensure that the classroom is
promoting equality for the child with the disability, the teacher should incorporate an inclusive
curriculum mindset, by adapting the lessons, learning materials and classroom to suit the needs of all
the different types of learners including the child with the disability within the classroom. In 1994,
representatives of 92 governments and 25 international organizations formed the World Conference on
Special Needs Education and called on the international community to endorse the concept of change
and inclusion through a new statement called The Salamanca Statement . As this was the first major
international statement of what an inclusive approach to education needs to be, they formed practical
strategies to ensure this positive inclusion would take place worldwide. The statement outlines that
every child has a right to education and must be given the opportunity to learn. It also urges the
government to adopt the principle of

Analysis Of Victor Frankenstein The Real Monster
Who s the Real Monster?
The story of Frankenstein was written by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley in the year 1818. The story
depicts the life of the character Victor Frankenstein, who spends years creating an unnamed creature.
Victor abandons the creature the moment he awakens and the creature is then left to live life on his
own because is rejected by humanity. The creature kills several people and eventually leads to Victor s
indirect death. Throughout the story, the creature is depicted as a hideous, monstrous and evil creature,
while Victor is depicted as the victim of his wrath. At first glance, the creature seems like the bigger
monster of the story, but as we begin to view it from a deeper perspective we discover a different side.
In this essay, I plan to argue that contrary to popular belief, Victor Frankenstein is the real monster of
the story.
The Oxford Dictionary defines the word monster as an An inhumanly cruel or wicked person. There
were many cruel and wicked things that Victor did to the creature. Firstly, Victor decided to give the
creature a hideous body. Why would he not create his specimen to be beautiful and well formed in
every way? It was cruelty on the behalf of Victor to hideously deform his creation. He made his
creature to be a hideously deformed monster which every human being shunned. Throughout the story
Victor also considers himself to have a God Complex. Victor would be considered to have a God
Complex because he firmly believed that he has the

The battle was taken on the hill in Hastings, on the South Coast of England, in Sussex. Us, the

Describe The Similarities And Differences Between The...
According to Niall Ferguson, westerners make up about 19% of the world s population, but have 66%
of the world s wealth. The reason why westerners, or Europeans, are so wealthy today is because of
European cities. Western European cities during the time period of 1000 1500 CE had distinct cultural
developments which allowed Europe to later conquer world trade. Other global civilizations, such as
Mongol China and medieval Cairo, were similar and different from medieval Europe culturally. These
civilizations were similar in the fact that both Europe and China had urban growth in cities; both
Europeans and the Muslims of Cairo were able to live in a society with no rigid rules. These
civilizations differed from Europe as well: European towns were autonomous, while the citizens of
both China and Cairo were ruled by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the differences they share culturally, there are differences between Europe and both
China and Cairo economically. For example, in European towns, capitalism was practiced. Because
there was no formal government dominating in Europe, capitalism allowed merchants to do as they
wished without the government s permission. This contrasts with China and Cairo, as in these
civilizations, socialism was exercised. Because of socialism, the merchants of China and Cairo had to
have the government s approval before they were able to make any decisions. This is just one of the
many differences between these global civilizations. Because Europe was different than the other
global civilizations, such as Cairo and China, it was able to advance and later, dominate world trade.
Europe today is one of the most wealthiest places in the world (they have 66% of the world s wealth,
according to Ferguson). They were able to achieve such power and wealth because of the way

The Environment Protection Agency s New Clean Power Plan
Introduction
Consol Energy is heavily involved in two major industries: coal and natural gas. This is an interesting
situation given that the two industries directly compete against one another. As a result, Consol is
diversified and strategically projected against the risk of downturn in either profit stream.
Coal Industry
The coal industry has a gloomy economic forecast going forward. The U.S. Environment Protection
Agency s new Clean Power Plan (a part of the Clean Air Act) causes much uncertainty for
corporations like Consol. It was proposed by the EPA in June of 2014. The goal of the Clean Power
Plan is to decrease CO2 emissions by 30 percent in the year 2030 from 2005 levels. Already, it has had
an impact on the internal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prices for coal are currently down. This drop has coincided with the drop in oil prices. Originally, it
was expected that these two prices would be tied together, and that the drop would be quite temporary.
However, the longer that coal has been down, the more likely it looks like it is down for the count so
to speak. Many analysts believe that there has been an over production of coal in the past decade and
the market has been saturated as a result. With every passing month that coal s prices stay low, and the
supplies keep growing, it becomes less likely that things will turn around for the better in a permanent
manner. Even with the rest of the world playing catchup with the transition to zero carbon intensive
energy sources, the U.S. coal exports have been extremely low. China, for instance, has imported less
in recent years. At one point, they were helping to drive our export market. In response to the lower
demand, many mining corporations have begun to optimize their operations. This has been done by
focusing on lower mining production costs, cheaper transportation costs, and favorable exchange
rates. The goal is to keep operations from further declining profit wise as the U.S. Energy Information
Administration expects a 7% decrease in total coal consumption for the year 2015. This decline in coal
consumption will likely cause a decline in coal production, causing a decline in jobs for states such as
Wyoming, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and

The Prisoners In Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
Imagine living through life completely bound and facing a reality that doesn t even exist. The
prisoners in Plato s Allegory of the Cave are blind from true reality as well as the people in the movie
The Matrix written and directed by the Wachowski brothers. They are given false images and they
accept what their senses are telling them, and they believe what they are experiencing is all that really
exists. Plato the ancient Greek philosopher wrote The Allegory of the Cave , to explain the process of
enlightenment and what true reality may be. In the movie The Matrix , Neo (the main character) was
born into a world of illusions called the matrix. His true reality is being controlled by the puppet

In The Allegory of the Cave, Plato also stated that eventually one of the prisoners, who Plato would
say was the philosopher or intellectual, would break free from the cave and into the outside world. The
one prisoner that Plato refers to, would also reflect Neo in The Matrix when he in being released from
his pod that the machines have created. Once the prisoner of the cave has broken free he can now look
all around him, and see the objects as they really are and the people carrying them as well. While in
the movie The Matrix , Neo is using is own eyes for the first time and sees that he is actually living in
a human factory. In Plato s Allegory of the Cave he states that the freed prisoner would be shocked by
the outside world, he would not be able to see the realities that he was used to deep in the shadows of
the cave. The prisoner would try to think that what he saw and experienced before was truer than what
is he sees now. When Neo is revived from being detached from the pod, Morpheus tells him what state
the world is in now and Neo is in a state of disarray and denial. This new knowledge of the truth,
overwhelmed Neo so much that he vomited and passed out. The released prisoner in The Allegory of
the Cave might feel that what he is seeing was the illusion and shadows on the wall

Effects Of Sexting In Teenagers
Most teenagers see sexting or sending nudes as a normal teenager thing. One thing they don t know is
the risks they re running by sending inappropriate messages or pictures to another person. In order to
try and prevent sexting amongst teens, multiple laws have been enforced throughout the years. These
laws are there to protect and help teens understand the seriousness of sexting.
Sexting nude images of teens under the age of 18 is seen as child pornography and is illegal in the
United States. Most people believe that an offence only occurs if a young person is under pressure to
make and send an explicit image, or if a private photo sent to one person is distributed more widely.
But most young girls British Conservative Party politician, Sarah Newton, speaks to see no problem in
sending a provocative photo to their boyfriend for fun they often tell her that teachers and their parents
think the same . An underage teen sending a nude image can land them big trouble and the same goes
for the receiver. In a case between 19 year old Russell Foster and his 14 year old girlfriend Amber,
Russell faced four years in prison and was registered as a sex offender. Even though Russell and
Amber are now married, Russell s record has made it hard for him to find work, and being a registered
sex offender has limited where the family can live.

Do you want get married with the one you love or do you want to find someone who has many
commons in a various elements with you? Do you want to have a wonderful marriage? Or how can
people avoid their marriage from divorce? Young people nowadays can have a chance and freedom to
get married by two main ways: love marriage and arranged marriage. A lot of people in Western
countries think that arranged marriage avoid people having the chance to explore their own

Due to that, the couple might end up with suffering and divorce. In case of love marriage, people
might expect more from their partner, largely because they have fallen in love before marriage. This
leads to lesser compromises, as the person expects more from his or her partner. On the other hand,
this shows that in an arranged marriage, the couple will not expect anything from the partner instead
give a full commitment to adjust themselves with their partner. Furthermore, world divorce statistic
illustrates that India records the lowest rate of divorce which is 1.1% compared to the other countries
such as United States which records 54% of divorce rate leading the most high divorce rate (American
for Divorce Reform, 2002. Retrieved from: http://divorcerate2011.com/divorce statistics/ ) As
arranged marriage is a common practice in Indian culture but it is impractical in Western countries, the
practice of arranged marriage may become one of the factors that contribute to this significant
statistic. In fact, arranged marriage somehow reduces the divorce rate. Therefore, these prove that
arranged marriage is more stable than love marriage.

Investigations started after the explosion. People and NASA workers were trying to figure out what
had caused the explosion. After the Challenger exploded it fell in to the water below. They were able

Luckily there were pictures and videos for the investigation. On one picture right before the launch
you could see a little smoke coming out of the right Solid Rocket Booster. People also found plume

Assay Discounting Task
In a typical delay discounting task, participants are faced with hypothetical choices such as receiving
$10 today vs. $11 in one week. If people choose $10 today over $11 in a week, one may describe this
preference as devaluation or discounting of future consequences; $11 in one week is worth less than
$10 today. The idea behind research employing these tasks is that people s performance to some extent
should reflect their real world preferences in conflicts between immediate versus delayed rewards,
such as the immediate reward of a drug versus its long term consequences. Indeed, past research has
found little difference between preferences concerning hypothetical choices and preferences
concerning actual monetary choices (Johnson Bickel, 2002; Matusiewicz, Carter, Landes, Yi, ... Show

Thus, present consumption is tied to health related, social, and economic costs of future consumption.
It is therefore reasonable to assume that substance use is associated not only with discounting of future
gains, but also with discounting of future costs. Furthermore, substance use and substance use
problems have been associated with a range of impulsiveness traits (e.g., Miller Lynam, 2013), some
of which measure a lack of concern for future consequences. Although the association between gain
discounting and substance use is well established (MacKillop et al., 2011), this does not necessarily
imply a connection between cost discounting and substance use. Gain discounting and cost
discounting may reflect fundamentally different processes. At least for common discounting tasks (for
an exception see Shelley, 1993), gains are discounted to a larger extent than losses (Baker, Johnson,
Bickel, 2003; Thaler, 1981). When framing choices as losses instead of gains, it is

think this is done on purpose. However, keeping a faithful use of Sicilian dialect, the viewer develop a

Music and Copyright Essay
Music has a powerful influence on society, like mass media and television. In our society today, music
has the ability to define our culture. Many people around the world listen to music while driving, at
work, doing housework, or even studying. Music may be seen as simple and unproblematic, but
looking at the structure behind it is very important. One of the key features of music is music
copyright and what that means to the music industry. Defining what this means in the historical
context is of great significance. Music and copyright is a vital aspect of the music industry. The
question that remains, however, is what happens with motivation or intension when samples of music

She mentions that if a copyright law is charged with protecting a particular arrangement of notes, then
maybe copyright laws should protect the riffs, melodies, harmonies, etc., or all of them. It is of great
importance to understand the meaning behind what this means by looking at copyright laws and what
it means to the music industry. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This
means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states
that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the
exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive
part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate
and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special
participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the
context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible
in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship
, as deployed in texts and in cultural understandings, has been anything but a stable, inert foundation
for the structure of copyright doctrine. Rather, the ideologically charged

My Childhood Speech
I always ask myself this question. Was I really that annoying when I was small? Every time I see my
sister acting out of control. She runs and screams that give you a great big headache. Since I can
barely remember things I did when I was small I asked my parent s many questions. Now let get
started with this chapter that talks about my childhood. Let us start with mom s story. When I first
started school I was really excited. When I first arrived in the classroom, I didn t cry. I was really
surprised when she said that. She told me that my little sister and I were the only children who didn t
cry. My brothers did cry when they first started school. She really didn t know what I did in school
because she wasn t there but she remembers that every time she went to pick me up I always had a

t really have time to spend with us but when he did he said that I used to make the biggest disasters
that took lots of cleaning up. One time I had baby powder and I accidentally spilled some powder.
Some of the powder fell on my hand, so I blew it off. When I blew it off it created a big cloud of
powder. It was cool to see a cloud of powder fly in the air so I poured all the powder in my hands and
threw it in the air. It was like snow in the hot summer. When my parents found out what I was doing

  • 4. How Did Beethoven Change Music Ludwig Van Beethoven, was the composer who changed music more than any other composer, the sound of music and what the other composers that were to come after him thought. He wrote nine symphonies, five piano concertos, an opera and many pieces of chamber music that jolted music right out of itself. (Landon) Beethoven changed music by creating a new era called Romanticism, influencing the other composers and changing the old methods by adding a special twist. The first way that Beethoven changed music was by creating romanticism. Ludwig is viewed as the most transitional figure between the eras of classical and romanticism of musical history. Even though his first period was more conventional he grew tired of this and made his second time period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He took the old methods and twisted to match his style of thinking. As mentioned before, Ludwig used a D major melody and a B minor harmony all at once. (Discuss) He then called this juxtaposed chords, which were opposing the old idea where they generally did not mix minor and major chords. If he changed the way chords were played, then obviously he changed music. Ludwig also influenced Romantic composers by changing the ideas of programmatic writing. (Discuss) He changed the idea of writing music from composing just to compose into actually creating a picture in the listeners mind. Beethoven s Symphony Number Six was the first programmatic symphony where the music was meant to paint a picture, compared to simply being a series of sounds. (Guthrie) The earlier works of his period brought the Classical forms to the highest expressive point, expanded the formal, structural and harmonic terms of his teachers Mozart and Haydn. (Guthrie) While he was influenced by his teachers, he took their old ways and transformed them into a new version of thinking to help others actually express themselves through the power of music. He changed the old methods into a new and improved version. He held onto the old culture without wearing it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though myself most of us don t like comparisons since every individual is unique and should never be compared for what they are with others and comparison always make sense when it s made self, within, which can only be the real truth. Even in Agile, it s advised not to compare two teams with their velocity, since every team features and work are different. Saying that, certain situations, act and benchmark force us to do so to really set the benchmark for others. These incidents happened yesterday and both of them were related to Elevators and I could not stop comparing the acts in my mind. That s when comparison probably creeps up isn t it, ... • 6. Pros And Cons Of Embryonic Stem Cells Should Embryonic Stem Cells Be Used To Cure Diseases? Alan C Embryonic stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are able to differentiate into any type of cell in the body, and they are obtained from four or five day old embryos that are in the blastocyst stage of human development. For example, an embryonic stem cell could turn into brain, skin, muscle, and bone cells. Stem cells have the potential to cure a plethora of diseases, but they come at a cost. The researchers that obtain these stem cells destroy the human embryo, therefore killing human life. These cells have been proven to be more effective. Currently, according to a website called stemcellresearch.org there have been seventy three adult stem cell research treatments, and zero embryonic stem cell research treatments. Scientists have been successful with using IPS cells to treat diseases like Parkinson`s disease, autoimmune diseases, stroke, anemia, cancer, heart attack, and diabetes. • 7. Sonny s Blues Analysis Essay It s repulsive to think you have to suffer that much (Baldwin 132). Many would argue that in life, pain outweighs pleasure. Freud contends that although we are unable to reconcile with the truth because it frightens us, each and every one of us has an unconscious desire to die. Death, according to Freud, is the ultimate escape from the sufferings and hardships which define human life and reality. In Sonny s Blues, James Baldwin confronts this dark truth about human nature in his character, Sonny. Sonny s suffering becomes so unbearable that he refuses to accept it as an inevitable condition of the human experience; he refuses to take it : But nobody just takes it, Sonny cried, That s what I m telling you! Everybody tries not to (Baldwin 133). Rather than directly embrace death, Sonny seeks relief and control in other, alternative forms. At first, Sonny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The more one becomes dependent on a drug like heroin, the more control one relinquishes to the drug itself. Eventually, Sonny is no longer in control, but rather the heroin and the people who provide it. This becomes a gateway for even more suffering and pain. Luckily for Sonny, he has found an alternative to this downward spiraling phenomena in music. But the man who creates the music is hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order on it as it hits the air (Baldwin 137). Through his piano, Sonny is able to grasp the chaos within and impose an empirical order on it by translating it into musical notes. Sonny s escape into music then becomes the conscious representation of the unconscious death instinct. By imposing order, Sonny is decreasing his amount of suffering, and therefore moving towards peace and rest. The words of Sonny s brother, upon hearing his jazz, are a testament to the power of music to transport us from the hardships of everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Mayans And Aztecs Comparison Essay When we compare how different people live, we tend not to focus on how it was all started and what it means. We compare our history against theirs and see what we come up with, instead of seeing it as a pure beginning. Comparing things can be seen as difficult due to the fact you can t find something that may be similar instead of different, and just end up focusing on it. Whether it be against your own history, or someone else s, you can end up missing a critical part that can make it the most interesting topic on your mind! Religion, culture, geography, technology and achievements, and art. All topics that are interesting in their own way. The Mayan s and the Aztecs are a good example. Perhaps the alarm clock didn t go off because of a power surge. Maybe the lights dim when the hair dryer turns on, or a hurricane has knocked the power lines down and electricity can t be bad. These scenarios are nothing compared to the day when a nuclear meltdown has occurred. A really bad day is one when the power fails, followed by water contamination, followed by a disruption in food distribution. Chaos occurs, there is a collapse of law and order, fires emerge and looting begins. The INEPC, NNSA, Office of Policy and International Affairs, Office of the General Counsel, and the Department of Energy should provide more protective guidelines in place to prevent nuclear accidents. Prostitution is defined as selling oneself or one s talents for base purpose (Agnes). Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of arguments for prostitution and the act of prostitution becoming legal. Coinciding with popular belief, there are more arguments against the act of prostitution being legalized. While some consider the act of prostitution to be an immoral act others will consider it a victimless crime. Most people consider it to be immoral and use arguments such as it cause crimes, spreads social diseases and AIDS and it is extramarital and commercialized. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom. These are John F. Kennedy s thoughts and opinions upon the creation of Israel. In the time leading up to the creation of Israel, the Jews had endured much suffering through the terrible acts of the Holocaust. Jews have proven to rise from the despair and the suffering that they had to endure and they ultimately created something stupendous: their own country. There have been many obstacles in the way for the Jews to do this, the biggest being the Arab Palestinians. The Arab Palestinians objected to the Arab Jews forming a nation and if it were not for the help of the United States, Israel would have never been able to overrule the power of the Arab Palestinians and take over the land for themselves. With tremendous support from the United States, the creation of Israel exemplifies the joyous and magnificent accomplishment that not only Arab Jews accomplished, but all Jews. The unity of the colonies became the method for various movements which later on lead them to their independence. At the point when the thirteen provinces started their political solidarity was frail, then again as Britain started to authorize more laws and duties on the pilgrims, their solidarity got solid as they battled for their freedom. These four laws that made solidarity around the colonies conceivable towards autonomy, also led them to form a congress. The Intolerable Act not just abused the privileges of the American individuals, however they constrained all day by day living in the states. At the point when this violation happened, the American Colonists knew their last end was to separate from Great Britain. Student writers look at revision as changing words to avoid repetition, not to further develop an idea or rethink an argument. In case of love marriage, people might expect more from their partner, largely because they have fallen in love before marriage. This leads to lesser compromises, as the person expects more from his or her partner. On the other hand, this shows that in an arranged marriage, the couple will not expect anything from the partner instead give a full commitment to adjust themselves with their partner. Furthermore, world divorce statistic illustrates that India records the lowest rate of divorce which is 1.1% compared to the other countries such as United States which records 54% of divorce rate leading the most high divorce rate (American for Divorce Reform, 2002. • 35. Assay Discounting Task In a typical delay discounting task, participants are faced with hypothetical choices such as receiving $10 today vs. $11 in one week. If people choose $10 today over $11 in a week, one may describe this preference as devaluation or discounting of future consequences; $11 in one week is worth less than $10 today. The idea behind research employing these tasks is that people s performance to some extent should reflect their real world preferences in conflicts between immediate versus delayed rewards, such as the immediate reward of a drug versus its long term consequences. Indeed, past research has found little difference between preferences concerning hypothetical choices and preferences concerning actual monetary choices (Johnson Bickel, 2002; Matusiewicz, Carter, Landes, Yi, ... It is therefore reasonable to assume that substance use is associated not only with discounting of future gains, but also with discounting of future costs. Furthermore, substance use and substance use problems have been associated with a range of impulsiveness traits (e.g., Miller Lynam, 2013), some of which measure a lack of concern for future consequences. Although the association between gain discounting and substance use is well established (MacKillop et al., 2011), this does not necessarily imply a connection between cost discounting and substance use. Gain discounting and cost discounting may reflect fundamentally different processes. At least for common discounting tasks (for an exception see Shelley, 1993), gains are discounted to a larger extent than losses (Baker, Johnson, Bickel, 2003; Thaler, 1981). Nuovomondomeans New wolrd in Italian, but its English title, Golden Door, has been taken from Emma Lazarus poem about the Statue of Liberty. This is in fact an immigrants tale from Sicily to Ellis Island at the turn of the 20th century. In a desolate corner of the Sicilian countryside, a family s apparently changeless life of hardship and toil is interrupted by tales of the New World and its inhabitants, of the riches of this paradise. Salvatore makes the momentous decision to sell all he has his land, his home, his livestock and to take his children and aged mother to a better life across the ocean. There is very little dialogue in the film and I think this is done on purpose. However, keeping a faithful use of Sicilian dialect, the viewer develop a closeness to the characters who in their language express their cultural identities. The peasants could easily understand each other because it was their own language, an army of its own as we discussed earlier in the semester. Defining what this means in the historical context is of great significance. Music and copyright is a vital aspect of the music industry. She mentions that if a copyright law is charged with protecting a particular arrangement of notes, then maybe copyright laws should protect the riffs, melodies, harmonies, etc., or all of them. It is of great importance to understand the meaning behind what this means by looking at copyright laws and what it means to the music industry. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship , as deployed in texts and in cultural understandings, has been anything but a stable, inert foundation for the structure of copyright doctrine. Rather, the ideologically charged ... • 38. My Childhood Speech I always ask myself this question. Was I really that annoying when I was small? Every time I see my sister acting out of control. She runs and screams that give you a great big headache. Since I can barely remember things I did when I was small I asked my parent s many questions. Now let get started with this chapter that talks about my childhood. Let us start with mom s story. When I first started school I was really excited. When I first arrived in the classroom, I didn t cry. I was really surprised when she said that. She told me that my little sister and I were the only children who didn t cry. My brothers did cry when they first started school. She really didn t know what I did in school because she wasn t there but she remembers that every time she went to pick me up I always had a smile on my face. Now it s dad s story time. His story takes place at home. My dad worked so he didn t really have time to spend with us but when he did he said that I used to make the biggest disasters that took lots of cleaning up. One time I had baby powder and I accidentally spilled some powder. Some of the powder fell on my hand, so I blew it off. When I blew it off it created a big cloud of powder. It was cool to see a cloud of powder fly in the air so I poured all the powder in my hands and threw it in the air. It was like snow in the hot summer.
