Pasteurization Is Not Sterilization Essay
1. Explain, in detail, the meaning of the following statement. Pasteurization is not sterilization
These two method of microbial control are used for different purpose, while sterilization is used to
keep instruments, equipment, materials and objects free from harmful microorganisms, viruses and
bacterial endospores, pasteurization is used keep food and beverages from spoiling by killing
pathogens and reducing the number of spoilage microorganism. During the pasteurization of food
products, not all microorganism is destroyed, thermoduric and thermophilic prokaryotes can survive.
However, they do not represent a health risk for consumers because theses prokaryotes are not
commonly pathogenic. Also, pasteurized foods are refrigerated right away and stored until
consumption. 2. Describe at least two methods of microbial control in depth and give examples of
their uses (use the unit 7 PowerPoint as guidance)

To sterilize items, they must be immersed in a solution for the required time specified by the
manufacturer to be sporicidal. All chemical solutions have pros and cons. These chemicals are:
peracetic acid, glutaraldehyde, and formaldehyde.
B) Disinfection is a less lethal process than sterilization and is intended to kill disease producing
microorganism but not bacterial endospores. A chemical that kills microorganism but not spore is
called a disinfectant. Several types of disinfectant are available:
Phenol and phenolics: They are intermediate to low level disinfectant. They work by denaturing
proteins and disrupting the cell membranes of microorganisms. They are used in healthcare settings,
but they have disagreeable odor and may cause skin irritation in some patients. EX. Carbolic

The Financial Sector Is A Crucial Part Of Society s...
The financial sector is a crucial part of society s critical infrastructure. Commerce drives our daily
functions in acquiring necessities as well as desires. The debate for what is a necessity versus desire is
not my point, but the reliance we have on the financial sector in order to function is. Since the days of
bartering have been replaced with a monetary system in addition to technological advances, we have
become as dependent upon the financial system as we are on oxygen. Accumulation of wealth has
always been a driving factor since the financial system s inception. In the past, bank robberies were
the major concern as such notorious robbers as Jessie James along with Bonnie and Clyde were
infamous for their robbing sprees. However, today s bank robberies are less likely to be done in the
physical nature with advances in technology. Malware plus Spyware are now the threat to financial
security in personal and commercial capacities.
The financial sector has experienced enormous change over the past few decades. Evaluating the
changes that have transpired over the last 40 years is amazing. Transformation of the industry began in
the 1970 s when the Federal Reserve announced the U.S. dollar was moving away from the gold
standard and has culminated today with the latest technological applications. Henceforth, the ways
financial transactions take place have forever changed (López, Setola, Wolthusen, 2012, p. 300 302).
Justifiably, the financial

The Effects Of Viral Load On Hiv Essay
On November 10, 2016, a new report was released to the public about a special type of microchip that
can test the amount of viral load of HIV in less than 30 minutes. This test can be completely self
administered. The user can check the viral load amount in the bloodstream by placing a drop of their
blood on the microchip, which looks similar to that of a USB drive. This microchip is then inserted
into a computer, tablet, or other handheld device. The results can be achieved in less than 30 minutes,
and many users had an answer in about 21 minutes with 95% accuracy. The current method requires
sending blood to a laboratory and can take at least three days, if not longer, to detect the viral load
present. This microchip can help to monitor those patients who are receiving treatment, but do not
have access to local clinics. Researchers hope that this device can specifically help in Sub Saharan
Africa and other rural areas which may not have easy access to testing facilities nearby (Imperial
College London: 2016). This new microchip received a lot of publicity for a few major reasons. While
it is not currently commercially available, it provided a proof of concept for a point of care method for
the detection of the viral load of HIV present. This is the first report of an on chip detection of RNA
via microchip. While there are a few similar products that are close to market or in development, they
all require lab equipment and a desktop instrument to find results, whereas

Yoder was a Theologian who preferred the ideals that are directly opposite of Niebuhr. Yoder believes
in Christian Pacifism. In the reading of Taking the Question Seriously. John breaks down the question
of his opposition. What would you do if a criminal, say, pulled a gun and threated to kill your wife...or
daughter or sister or mother (Yoder, John H.). He related this to Just War when discussing the second
of the questioner s assumptions, control. In this section of the reading the criterion of probable success
is a reoccurring element. Failure to be successful is a serious possibility in every case of dramatic
confrontation...In any war at least one side loses; in some wars, no side wins (Yoder, John H.). Yoder
then goes on to knowledge and what outcomes can occur if no effort to kill the aggressor is made. He
will rape my wife, kill my daughter, attack me...I also know I will be successful if I try to take his life
(Yoder, John H.). Yoder explains that this reasoning is also in questioning, he cites that the
unpredictability of violence and that no one has knowledge of what the outcome will be. John follows
this by stating that his wife, daughter, or mother should be involved in the decision process; he as a
third party can not act on his own desires. He moves his attention on how this single event compares
to something on a larger scale such as war. Yoder mentions various options involving the event.
Christian faith warns me that I use my self centered control of my decision as a tool of my
rebelliousness, as a way of solidifying my independence from my Maker ( Yoder, John H.). We can
generalize from Yoder s statements and opinions that he believes that Christians can not be involved in
matters of violence/ war because Jesus Christ was a pacifist and we should be living a similar life
following the very rule that Niebuhr said humanity does not

Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (UNESCO

of cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge,

(2014), it helps to boost employments, investments as well as the growth of local business. In
addition, they conclude that place identity of the community members grows in line with their pride in

appears to apply to less concentration of historic environment when local residents perceive something

which favours the sustainability of the society. Cultural tourism obtains the support of the community
because their interests are secured. In general, cultural tourism not only restores the historic structures

Persuasive Essay On Cancer Screening
Introduction
A cancer screening is a test or exam that checks for cancer. Your health care provider will recommend
specific cancer screenings based on your age, personal history, and family history of cancer. Work
with your health care provider to create a cancer screening schedule that protects your health.
Why is cancer screening done?
Cancer screenings is done to look for cancer in the very early stages, before it spreads and becomes
harder to treat and before you would start to see symptoms. Finding cancer early improves the chances
of successful treatment. It can save your life.
Who should be screened for cancer?
All women should be screened for certain cancers, including breast cancer, cervical cancer, and skin
cancer. Your health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To perform the test a health care provider takes a swab of cervical cells during a pelvic exam. Here are
some screening guidelines:
You should have a Pap test every year starting at age 21.
When you are 21 29 years old, you should have a Pap test every three years.
When you are 30 65 years old, you should have a Pap test and HPV test every 5 years or a Pap test
every 3 years.
You may be screened for cervical cancer more often if you have risk factors for cervical cancer
If your Pap tests are abnormal, you should have an HPV test.
If you have had the HPV vaccine, you should still be screened for cervical cancer and follow normal
screening recommendations.
You do not need to be screened for cervical cancer if any of the following apply:
You are older than 65 and you have not had a serious cervical pre cancer or cancer in the last 20 years.
Your cervix and uterus have been removed and you have never had had cervical cancer or pre
cancerous cells.
Endometrial cancer
There is no standard screening test for endometrial cancer, but the cancer can be detected with:
A test of a sample of tissue taken from the lining of the uterus (endometrial tissue biopsy).
A vaginal ultrasound.
Pap tests.
If you are at increased risk for endometrial cancer, you may need to have these tests more often than
normal. You are at increased risk if:
You have a family history of ovarian, uterine, or colon cancer.
You are taking tamoxifen, a drug used to

Dakota Pipeline Case Study
Dakota Pipeline Issue Since July of 2016, there has been an extensive amount of tension between
protesters and law enforcement over an oil pipeline near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The
Dakota access pipeline is a 3.7 billion investment project that would carry 470,000 barrels of oil a day
from the oil fields of western North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois. The Dakota access pipeline is a stirring
issue and is causing thousands protesters to camp out in rural North Dakota to protest for what they
believe. The Dakota access pipeline is to be built by Texas energy transfer partners to move a massive
amount of crude oil a day. This pipeline is 1,172 miles long, thirty inches in diameter. It will connect
the expanding Bakken and Three Folks Production areas in North Dakota to Illinois. The pipeline will
allow domestically produced oil from North Dakota to reach larger markets in a more direct, safer, and
cost effective manner. The issue with the pipeline is it would have to cross under the ... Show more

impact millions. This is a letter to put a back story to those forgotten by the issue at hand, the student

The Old Gringo by Carlos Fuentes Essay
The Old Gringo by Carlos Fuentes
The Old Gringo is a fiction novel written by one of Latin America s most renowned and eloquent
authors, Carlos Fuentes. Filled with war, adventure, love and more, this novel takes you back to the
Mexican revolution fought in 1912. This contemporary fiction is based on many themes found and
experienced by the main characters in this novel. The relationship between Mexico and the United
States, the drive to find one s true self and the different ways two men need a woman are only a few
themes contained in this story. The question: Is he Ambrose Bierce or just an old gringo, is one that I
had to answer while reading this book. We all have different opinions, but it is a question that all ask

The setting also influenced one of the major themes of the story, the historical relationship between
the United States and Mexico. As you can see, the setting of this novel was very important to
everything included in this story.
The main characters in this story are Harriet Winslow, the old gringo, and Tomas Arroyo. Of the
Three, Harriet learns the most as she starts her new life as governess across the frontier. She is a
dynamic character that changes in the story because of the things that happen around her. Other
characters include Manslavo, La Garduna, Frutos Garcia, La Luna and more. Carlos Fuentes did a
very good job of describing these characters and paints a picture, like all great authors, of the
characters portrayed in their novels.
Most of the story revolves, however, not around the old gringo but the young gringa, Harriet Winslow.
Harriet Winslow is a Yankee spinster, who decides one day in 1912 to break loose from her humdrum
life by taking a job as governess in Mexico. Once she arrives, she is immediately caught in the middle
of the Mexican revolution. Here, she meets the general, Tomas Arroyo, and the American author, the
old gringo. Harriet is described as a, quick, elegant, and a beautiful woman of thirty. ; In a discussion
with Miss Harriet and the old gringo, we learn that her father disappeared in the Spanish American
War somewhere in Cuba.

Visceral Response Hedda Gabler
As I viewed Hedda Gabler, I had two visceral responses during two very important scenes. My first
visceral response occurred when Hedda Gabler was being questioned by Commissioner Brack about
the death of Ejlert Løvborg. This scene made me feel very uncomfortable. As I watched the
commissioner push and throw Hedda around, I started thinking about domestic violence. It was a
scary thing to watch, and it must be terrifying to experience. When the commissioner spit his drink on
Hedda, I felt physically sick. Prior to this, I really did not like Hedda, but as Hedda began to realize
that she had no power to stop the commissioner, my heart softened toward her. At the end of the play, I
experienced another visceral response when Hedda committed suicide in order free herself from the
power of the commissioner. I watched this play just three weeks after a family member committed
suicide. He was in extreme physical pain, and there was nothing that doctors could do for him. He
took his own life in order to free himself from this physical pain. Watching Hedda take her own life
really made me sad for my own loss. I really wanted to leave the play, but since I really needed to
view the final moments, I sat glued to my seat, hoping something else would happen that would make
me feel better. When that did not occur, I was actually mad. This really was a difficult play for me to
watch.
Throughout the play, I noticed that I felt a connection with Berte. Berte, the maid in this story, sat in
the corner for the entire play and was not really significant to the storyline. Her job was to inform
Hedda Gabler and Jorgen Tesman who is entering the apartment. In a recent production of A Time to
Kill at my community college, I played the part of Norma Gallo, the court reporter. During the scenes
in which I was present, I sat typing on a typewriter and, like Berte, I was not very significant to the
storyline. For the duration of the production, Berte is more or less a people watcher. I, too, am
somewhat of a people watcher; when I am in a group of strangers, I think about who they might be
and make up stories about their lives. I enjoy watching from a distance, but not being a part of what is
happening. Another reason, that I

Metaphysics
Metaphysics Introduction Philosophers love to argue points or defend points that seem either brutally
obvious to lay people or so obscure as to wonder about the mental health of the philosopher. For some
philosophers, nitpicking and countering previously accepted arguments about causes of actions is
along the way totally confusing a college student desperately trying to grasp the mysterious ideas a
way of life. For example, Wayne Davis references a way to disprove the causal theory (it holds that
actions done for a reason are explained by the agent s beliefs and desires ) (Davis, 2005, p. 58). Mary,
for example, turned on the light switch not because she had any particular belief that there was too
much light but because she believed there was not enough light. The argument ensuing from that
position (based on Donald Davidson s theory) is: even if ...beliefs and desires cause actions that are
done for reasons, the contents of those beliefs and desires are irrelevant to the fact that Mary produced
the action at the light switch (Davis, 58). Hence, Davis has proved that since the reasons why Mary
acted are irrelevant, from that perspective the causal theory can thus be undermined (58). Meanwhile,
the question, what is a cause will be approached in the philosophical / metaphysical sense in this
paper. What is a Cause? Why search for an analysis of causation in the first place? (Liebesman, 2011).
David Lewis offers this reason: the myriad variables of causation

The Effect of Physical Attractiveness on Job Success
Abstract: Although both intelligence and competence are vital to success, a person s physical
appearance can help or hinder their ability to succeed. This paper divides physical appearance into
height, weight, and facial attractiveness, which are examined based on their differing effects in men
and women and how society s perception of each factor shapes their effect on success. This paper then
goes on to explain how appearance can actually have a deeper, more profound impact on the
personality of a person, which may predispose them for success. When including the effects of
education, higher self confidence and better skills afford more success in a business environment

Weight http://www.usatoday.com/educate/college/business/articles/20050724.htm Unlike the extra
inches leading to an increased salary when considering height, those same inches can be increasingly
detrimental to an individual s success if they are added around the waistline. Weight as a facet of
physical appearance plays an important role in determining the salary of an individual over their
lifetime. In the working paper, Body Weight and Women s Labor Market Outcomes , Professor John
Cawley showed that all else equal, heavier women earned less in the job market. He studied three
variables, hourly wages, employment status and occupational sector, to see how body weight affected
a women s ability to succeed. The effect of weight was only seen in white women where an additional
65 pounds lead to an approximate 7% salary penalty. This number translates into the same effect on
salary as an additional year of schooling, three years of job experience, or two years of job tenure.
Weight however, had no effect on employment status or the labor market in which women entered and
little to no effect on the success of men in the workplace (Cawley, 2000, p. 1). Considering society s
perceptions, additional pounds may be looked upon unfavorably because people may equate an
overweight person with being inactive or even lazy and therefore not proactive in their careers. The
low workplace morale that many overweight individuals

Taking a Look at Hollow Slip Casting
Introduction Slip casting is a technique used to mass produce ceramic shapes that are not easily made
on a wheel. To perform slip casting, a plaster mold is filled with a liquid clay casting slip. The water
inside the casting slip is drawn to the plaster mold until a layer of solid clay is left deposited onto the
mold walls. Once the right thickness is achieved, the excess casting slip is poured off and a hollow
cast remains. Slip casting has been a large impression on society through its commercial applications.
Because of its low cost and ease of mass production, many everyday items have been casted using slip
such as: figurines, doll faces, dishes, flowerpots, lamp bases, toilets[1]. The recycling ability of slip is
another asset, since the loss ratio is an inevitable part to the slip casting procedure. Slip casting has
many advantages. The slip casting process allows for the creation of high detailed duplicates. Slip
casting opens the door to experiment with recipes that lack plasticity such as bone china, talc, or
spodumene bodies[1]. The slip casting process is also a favored technique because it can produce very
consistent results, results like equal density during formation. Traditional slips are mixtures of clays,
non plastic minerals, deflocculates, water, and occasionally flocculants. A deflocculant is an
electrolyte enables fluidity with a minimal amount of water. Less water results in far less shrinkage
and greater strength. On the other hand, a

and a bigger trade with USA). One topic pointed by the World Economic Forum on Latin America as
key factor for the development of the region is the necessity to adapt to the increasing participation of
China and India in the economy of the world. At the same time, China is becoming a important
importer of commodities from Latin America and a competitor in textiles and labor intensive
manufacture goods. The region have to take advantage of the opportunities raised by China s growing
economy and, at the same time, adapt to its competition.

Outstanding Football Player Research Paper
Down, Set, Hut! The smell of Fall was in the air, and the sound of football echoed around the stadium.
Many people think that being a successful football player is fairly easy. They claim being big, strong,
and fast is really the only tools you need to be great at the sport. However, the qualities of an
outstanding football player go far beyond just their physical capabilities. The physical aspect of
football of course helps, but it is all the great characteristics put together that will make a player truly
outstanding. The best sign of an outstanding football player is if they have these three qualities: a
strong work ethic, mental toughness, and great leadership.
Great football players aren t just strong, but they have a really amazing work ethic. If a player has a
strong work ethic, he often attempts to do extra. These players will stay an hour after practice is over
making sure they perfect their craft. They strive to be perfect in everything they do, and that is one of
the reasons they make such outstanding football players. The players that show this trait off are the
ones who take no days off. When these hard working players hit the field they are focused, and ready
to get to work. Going through the motions as several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why it is so vastly important to have mental toughness as an outstanding football player.
Another reason why having mental toughness is important is because most of the time, these are the
players who take coaching best. They can handle criticism and use it to make themselves better. Also,
having mental toughness is important in the 4th quarter and when you are tired. If you lack mental
toughness in these situations then more than likely you are going to give up, and any outstanding
football player doesn t give up. Along with being mentally tough every outstanding football player

Asperger s Disadvantages
Have you ever had a friend that acted different than everyone else and wondered why? Some people
that act differently may suffer from a condition known as Asperger s. Asperger s is a syndrome of
Autism that presents many challenges, yet also has benefits as well. This condition often goes
unrecognized in young children because it is on the lower level spectrum of Autism. Actually, I picked
this topic because I have this condition myself. Asperger s main symptoms include; limited social
interaction, robotic or repetitive speech, lack of eye contact, and obsessions with unusual topics. Some
advantages are intelligence, faster learning, and special services in school. Some disadvantages can
include a deficit of communication, and depression. Intelligence is one of the advantages of Asperger

The s Gilliland s Six Step Model
Crisis intervention is designed to provide an immediate response to interrupt and reduce tpotentially
adverse, and on occasion, fatally harmful consequences. Its objective is to restore an individual s level
of functioning to that which was experienced prior to the events that triggered the crisis.
Critical to this process are the skills of the crisis responder in ensuring that the case assessment and
identification of factors that have resulted in the crisis are correctly identified and treated. An incorrect
assessment can be potentially fatal.
The affects of crisis can result in an individual reacting in one of three ways (James 2008):
Some are able to effectively deal with the situation and emerge stronger as a result.
Some survive the crisis but block the pain from their awareness which results in ongoing issues and
consequences that remain unresolved.
Others remain completely immobilised for an ongoing period unless they receive immediate
intervention and support.
In this particular case study the treating modality being adopted is Gilliland s Six Step Model.

Use Of Trigger Point Dry Needling
Introduction Trigger point dry needling (TDN) is a treatment in which practitioners insert thin, sterile
filiform needles into patients for the purpose of pain relief by stimulating underlying myofascial
trigger points, muscles, tendons, and connective tissues. This technique is not only used for the
management of neuromuscular pain relief, but it is also used to treat movement impairments and
dysfunctions in skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue. Dry needling is also implemented in
clinical practice for the purpose of reducing and eventually restoring impairments of body structure
and function (American Physical Therapy Association [APTA], 2013). These purposes for dry
needling eventually lead to improved activity and function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Janet Travell, M.D. and Dr. David Simons, M.D., called the Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction: Trigger
Point Manual. The studies of dry needling as a pain relief modality by Travell and Simons began in
the 1940s, but were published in this manual much later in1992 and edited in 1999 for the manual s
second edition. In this book, Dr. Travell and Simons introduce this new term of dry needling in order
to differentiate between two techniques of trigger point therapy. They used wet needling, which
referred to the injection of a local anesthetic using a hypodermic needle, and they also used this new
technique of dry needling, which referred to the insertion of the hypodermic needle into the
myofascial trigger point without the injection of any medication or anesthetic (Travell, Simons
Simons, 1999). Myofascial trigger points, colloquially referred to as knots , are classified as
hyperirritable spots within a taut band of contracted skeletal muscle fibers that produce local and/or
referred pain when stimulated (APTA, 2013). In the infancy of their studies, Travell and Simons
preferred the use of the hypodermic needle and never used filiform needles. They believed that the
filiform needle was too thin and not strong enough for dry needling; preference was given to the
hypodermic needle because of its superior strength and the tactile feedback that it provided at the time.

The s Intention Of An Open Ended Conclusion
Author s intention of an open ended conclusion in Recitatif by Toni Morrison.
Raising awareness of stereotyping by invoking personal prejudices in interpreting the story.
Recitatif by Toni Morrison is about a friendship of two main characters, Twyla and Roberta, facing a
falling out as a result of invisible barriers imposed by prejudice. Narrated by Twyla, their development
of alienation (slow falling outs) is portrayed through a few counts of unplanned encounters throughout
their life in 1960s to 1980s, the progressive period of the civil rights movement (Janken). The time
period can be assumed by a few mentionings from the story such as appointment with Jimi Hendrix
(par. 47; all page references are to the class text.) a famous guitarist in1960s, IBM people who just
moved into the city (par. 55), IBM headquarter was relocated to Armonk in 1964 (Fuchs) and the
racial strife (par. 145). The setting plays an important part of the puzzle by giving the readers idea
(insight) of the overall atmosphere of the society, where a social class and a racial discrimination
considered social norms. In the story, the author repeatedly throws hints of the social class and the
racial difference of two main characters to lead the readers to guess and challenge their knowledge by
inducing personal perspective into the story. And by intentionally leaving an open ended conclusion
without an answer, the author cleverly provokes self awareness on inferential generalization of the

The Problem Of Global Warming
Analyse the problem of global warming and suggest possible solution
With the rising global temperatures, the global warming has become more and more popular. In fact, it
is a natural phenomenon, which has developed in recent decades due to human?s activities, such as
burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These actions will produce large amounts of greenhouse gas,
which would cause the Earth s temperature go up so that the climate will change. More importantly,
the Global warming melt all the world s glaciers and permafrost so that the level of the sea will go up.
As a result, human and natural ecosystems will suffer from great harm. There are many reasons why
the global climate is changing. Among those, there are two main reasons, the surge of population and
serious environmental pollution. Unfortunately, those two reasons are caused by our human?s
activities. This essay will analyse the cause of this problem and list two solutions on global warming.
The first one is to promote clean energy and reduce the use of fossil fuels. The second one is to call for
people to eat meat.
The most important factor the climate change is the growing population. Proportional to the increase
in human population and resource consumption, and faster population growth and large population
size, the more emissions will impact on the climate. The relationship between population and climate
change is complex, not as simply as reducing the performance of the total population change or the

Globalization Is A Good Or Bad Thing Essay
The question people are asking themselves is whether globalization is a good or bad thing. For many
years, there have been concerns about whether globalization has an impact on language. How exactly
can it affect a person, and if it does in what ways? What if nobody is able to understand you?
Immigrants find themselves in this situation quite often; this phenomenon is called linguistic isolation,
and argues against globalization and how it leads to the extinction of indigenous languages and
beliefs. While other people view globalization as an easier way to communicate, evolutioniza, and a
technique for everyone to unite and helps bring us closer together. Globalization can be seen to
support and strengthen communication between millions who have completely different cultures.
Globalization aids us by being able to assist us in communicating across different cultures. There has
been an increase debate on how language defines our cultural self. Globalization is eagerly increasing
in today s world quite rapidly taking a toll effect in dialects. This increase in globalization has many
effects on language, both positive and negative. Globalization is affecting language in which it is
causing it to become endangered because many people seem to be distressed in society and the native
language population is decreasing. People are coming to the realization that the Native language is
becoming lost to globalization, because there is a lack of cultural distinctiveness. In the article,

The Beauty Of The Barbie Fashion Doll
Humans by nature want what they can t get. It s true, we as a species are materialistic. Many of us
want the fastest cars, the biggest houses, the heftiest paychecks, the coolest clothes, and the hottest
bodies. We are also incredibly impressionable; one Budweiser commercial, for example, may
convince us to go out and buy Budweiser brand beer. An Apple commercial can inadvertently coax
thousands of average citizens to drop what they are doing, camp for days outside of the local Best
Buy, and wait impatiently to purchase the newest iPhone which includes the newest, most overrated
feature to date. Even the toys we manufacture perpetuate this endless cycle of unnecessary wants and
desires.
According to that archaic proverb, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It s ironic how we hear and
repeat this phrase all the time yet we don t practice what we preach. A good example of this can be
found with the popularity of the Barbie fashion doll. Something as simple as a piece of plastic with
fake hair, exaggerated body features, and miniature outfits can instill in young girls across the world
the standard of beauty . With this fragile, impressionable persona that we have engrained in women
over time, it seems as if we are driving them to their own demise. Through the use of modern day
media, toys, and fashion, we have been betraying women across the globe by mistreatment,
underrepresentation, and by sexualizing them.
We blatantly sexualize and misrepresent women with the toys we

3.1 Data Collection
Primary and secondary are the two major forms of any particular study. Primary has unprocessed and
information which is not manipulated and it is gathered directly from the source whereas secondary
means a reliance on the already researched work which is available and has been researched by
numerous scholars and researchers. Both methods are used to gather the important info for the use of
exploratory study as in this case.
3.2 Primary data collection
Bryman and Bell (2007) said that to carry out a qualitative data then there are two methods used:
direct observation and conduction an interview. This approach always provides an analysis in detail
and elaborates the research. Creswell (2009) had this view that primary data is important and has a
great significance because it is always in a raw form and it is more authentic because it has been
collected directly from the source. So, for this study it was suggested to conduct primary data from the
students who are studying in UK and the method used for semi structured interview.
The reason for using semi structured interview is that; researcher can easily edit the questions asked in
a semi structured interview session before they are answered and the questions can be manipulated
which makes it more valuable and important for any research. To conduct an interview, the queries are
based on the idea to rely on the basic aim and objective of the field of the study and also highly

  • 2. Pasteurization Is Not Sterilization Essay 1. Explain, in detail, the meaning of the following statement. Pasteurization is not sterilization These two method of microbial control are used for different purpose, while sterilization is used to keep instruments, equipment, materials and objects free from harmful microorganisms, viruses and bacterial endospores, pasteurization is used keep food and beverages from spoiling by killing pathogens and reducing the number of spoilage microorganism. During the pasteurization of food products, not all microorganism is destroyed, thermoduric and thermophilic prokaryotes can survive. However, they do not represent a health risk for consumers because theses prokaryotes are not commonly pathogenic. Also, pasteurized foods are refrigerated right away and stored until consumption. 2. • 3. The Financial Sector Is A Crucial Part Of Society s... The financial sector is a crucial part of society s critical infrastructure. Commerce drives our daily functions in acquiring necessities as well as desires. The debate for what is a necessity versus desire is not my point, but the reliance we have on the financial sector in order to function is. Since the days of bartering have been replaced with a monetary system in addition to technological advances, we have become as dependent upon the financial system as we are on oxygen. Accumulation of wealth has always been a driving factor since the financial system s inception. In the past, bank robberies were the major concern as such notorious robbers as Jessie James along with Bonnie and Clyde were infamous for their robbing sprees. However, today s bank robberies are less likely to be done in the physical nature with advances in technology. Malware plus Spyware are now the threat to financial security in personal and commercial capacities. The financial sector has experienced enormous change over the past few decades. Evaluating the changes that have transpired over the last 40 years is amazing. Transformation of the industry began in the 1970 s when the Federal Reserve announced the U.S. dollar was moving away from the gold standard and has culminated today with the latest technological applications. Henceforth, the ways financial transactions take place have forever changed (López, Setola, Wolthusen, 2012, p. 300 302). Justifiably, the financial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Viral Load On Hiv Essay On November 10, 2016, a new report was released to the public about a special type of microchip that can test the amount of viral load of HIV in less than 30 minutes. This test can be completely self administered. The user can check the viral load amount in the bloodstream by placing a drop of their blood on the microchip, which looks similar to that of a USB drive. This microchip is then inserted into a computer, tablet, or other handheld device. The results can be achieved in less than 30 minutes, and many users had an answer in about 21 minutes with 95% accuracy. The current method requires sending blood to a laboratory and can take at least three days, if not longer, to detect the viral load present. This microchip can help to monitor those patients who are receiving treatment, but do not have access to local clinics. Researchers hope that this device can specifically help in Sub Saharan Africa and other rural areas which may not have easy access to testing facilities nearby (Imperial College London: 2016). This new microchip received a lot of publicity for a few major reasons. While it is not currently commercially available, it provided a proof of concept for a point of care method for the detection of the viral load of HIV present. This is the first report of an on chip detection of RNA via microchip. While there are a few similar products that are close to market or in development, they all require lab equipment and a desktop instrument to find results, whereas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yoder was a Theologian who preferred the ideals that are directly opposite of Niebuhr. Yoder believes in Christian Pacifism. In the reading of Taking the Question Seriously. John breaks down the question of his opposition. What would you do if a criminal, say, pulled a gun and threated to kill your wife...or daughter or sister or mother (Yoder, John H.). He related this to Just War when discussing the second of the questioner s assumptions, control. In this section of the reading the criterion of probable success is a reoccurring element. Failure to be successful is a serious possibility in every case of dramatic confrontation...In any war at least one side loses; in some wars, no side wins (Yoder, John H.). Yoder then goes on to knowledge and what outcomes can occur if no effort to kill the aggressor is made. He will rape my wife, kill my daughter, attack me...I also know I will be successful if I try to take his life (Yoder, John H.). Yoder explains that this reasoning is also in questioning, he cites that the unpredictability of violence and that no one has knowledge of what the outcome will be. John follows this by stating that his wife, daughter, or mother should be involved in the decision process; he as a third party can not act on his own desires. He moves his attention on how this single event compares to something on a larger scale such as war. Yoder mentions various options involving the event. Christian faith warns me that I use my self centered control of my decision as a tool of my rebelliousness, as a way of solidifying my independence from my Maker ( Yoder, John H.). We can generalize from Yoder s statements and opinions that he believes that Christians can not be involved in matters of violence/ war because Jesus Christ was a pacifist and we should be living a similar life following the very rule that Niebuhr said humanity does not ... Most students will not have the same experience I have had during the strike, all situations are different however if no one voices their specific struggle we will remain faceless victims of an unjust system. As I have said I am 25 years old, I am a young woman and have never had a thing handed to me in my lifetime. • 13. The Old Gringo by Carlos Fuentes Essay The Old Gringo by Carlos Fuentes The Old Gringo is a fiction novel written by one of Latin America s most renowned and eloquent authors, Carlos Fuentes. Filled with war, adventure, love and more, this novel takes you back to the Mexican revolution fought in 1912. This contemporary fiction is based on many themes found and experienced by the main characters in this novel. The relationship between Mexico and the United States, the drive to find one s true self and the different ways two men need a woman are only a few themes contained in this story. The question: Is he Ambrose Bierce or just an old gringo, is one that I had to answer while reading this book. We all have different opinions, but it is a question that all ask ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The setting also influenced one of the major themes of the story, the historical relationship between the United States and Mexico. As you can see, the setting of this novel was very important to everything included in this story. The main characters in this story are Harriet Winslow, the old gringo, and Tomas Arroyo. Of the Three, Harriet learns the most as she starts her new life as governess across the frontier. She is a dynamic character that changes in the story because of the things that happen around her. Other characters include Manslavo, La Garduna, Frutos Garcia, La Luna and more. Carlos Fuentes did a very good job of describing these characters and paints a picture, like all great authors, of the characters portrayed in their novels. Most of the story revolves, however, not around the old gringo but the young gringa, Harriet Winslow. Harriet Winslow is a Yankee spinster, who decides one day in 1912 to break loose from her humdrum life by taking a job as governess in Mexico. Once she arrives, she is immediately caught in the middle of the Mexican revolution. Here, she meets the general, Tomas Arroyo, and the American author, the old gringo. Harriet is described as a, quick, elegant, and a beautiful woman of thirty. ; In a discussion with Miss Harriet and the old gringo, we learn that her father disappeared in the Spanish American War somewhere in Cuba. ... • 16. Visceral Response Hedda Gabler As I viewed Hedda Gabler, I had two visceral responses during two very important scenes. My first visceral response occurred when Hedda Gabler was being questioned by Commissioner Brack about the death of Ejlert Løvborg. This scene made me feel very uncomfortable. As I watched the commissioner push and throw Hedda around, I started thinking about domestic violence. It was a scary thing to watch, and it must be terrifying to experience. When the commissioner spit his drink on Hedda, I felt physically sick. Prior to this, I really did not like Hedda, but as Hedda began to realize that she had no power to stop the commissioner, my heart softened toward her. At the end of the play, I experienced another visceral response when Hedda committed suicide in order free herself from the power of the commissioner. I watched this play just three weeks after a family member committed suicide. He was in extreme physical pain, and there was nothing that doctors could do for him. He took his own life in order to free himself from this physical pain. Watching Hedda take her own life really made me sad for my own loss. I really wanted to leave the play, but since I really needed to view the final moments, I sat glued to my seat, hoping something else would happen that would make me feel better. When that did not occur, I was actually mad. This really was a difficult play for me to watch. Throughout the play, I noticed that I felt a connection with Berte. Berte, the maid in this story, sat in the corner for the entire play and was not really significant to the storyline. Her job was to inform Hedda Gabler and Jorgen Tesman who is entering the apartment. In a recent production of A Time to Kill at my community college, I played the part of Norma Gallo, the court reporter. During the scenes in which I was present, I sat typing on a typewriter and, like Berte, I was not very significant to the storyline. For the duration of the production, Berte is more or less a people watcher. I, too, am somewhat of a people watcher; when I am in a group of strangers, I think about who they might be and make up stories about their lives. I enjoy watching from a distance, but not being a part of what is happening. Another reason, that I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Metaphysics Metaphysics Introduction Philosophers love to argue points or defend points that seem either brutally obvious to lay people or so obscure as to wonder about the mental health of the philosopher. For some philosophers, nitpicking and countering previously accepted arguments about causes of actions is along the way totally confusing a college student desperately trying to grasp the mysterious ideas a way of life. For example, Wayne Davis references a way to disprove the causal theory (it holds that actions done for a reason are explained by the agent s beliefs and desires ) (Davis, 2005, p. 58). Mary, for example, turned on the light switch not because she had any particular belief that there was too much light but because she believed there was not enough light. The argument ensuing from that position (based on Donald Davidson s theory) is: even if ...beliefs and desires cause actions that are done for reasons, the contents of those beliefs and desires are irrelevant to the fact that Mary produced the action at the light switch (Davis, 58). Hence, Davis has proved that since the reasons why Mary acted are irrelevant, from that perspective the causal theory can thus be undermined (58). Meanwhile, the question, what is a cause will be approached in the philosophical / metaphysical sense in this paper. What is a Cause? Why search for an analysis of causation in the first place? The Effect of Physical Attractiveness on Job Success Abstract: Although both intelligence and competence are vital to success, a person s physical appearance can help or hinder their ability to succeed. This paper divides physical appearance into height, weight, and facial attractiveness, which are examined based on their differing effects in men and women and how society s perception of each factor shapes their effect on success. This paper then goes on to explain how appearance can actually have a deeper, more profound impact on the personality of a person, which may predispose them for success. Weight http://www.usatoday.com/educate/college/business/articles/20050724.htm Unlike the extra inches leading to an increased salary when considering height, those same inches can be increasingly detrimental to an individual s success if they are added around the waistline. Weight as a facet of physical appearance plays an important role in determining the salary of an individual over their lifetime. In the working paper, Body Weight and Women s Labor Market Outcomes , Professor John Cawley showed that all else equal, heavier women earned less in the job market. He studied three variables, hourly wages, employment status and occupational sector, to see how body weight affected a women s ability to succeed. The effect of weight was only seen in white women where an additional 65 pounds lead to an approximate 7% salary penalty. This number translates into the same effect on salary as an additional year of schooling, three years of job experience, or two years of job tenure. Weight however, had no effect on employment status or the labor market in which women entered and little to no effect on the success of men in the workplace (Cawley, 2000, p. 1). Considering society s perceptions, additional pounds may be looked upon unfavorably because people may equate an overweight person with being inactive or even lazy and therefore not proactive in their careers. • 20. Taking a Look at Hollow Slip Casting Introduction Slip casting is a technique used to mass produce ceramic shapes that are not easily made on a wheel. To perform slip casting, a plaster mold is filled with a liquid clay casting slip. The water inside the casting slip is drawn to the plaster mold until a layer of solid clay is left deposited onto the mold walls. Once the right thickness is achieved, the excess casting slip is poured off and a hollow cast remains. Slip casting has been a large impression on society through its commercial applications. Because of its low cost and ease of mass production, many everyday items have been casted using slip such as: figurines, doll faces, dishes, flowerpots, lamp bases, toilets[1]. The recycling ability of slip is another asset, since the loss ratio is an inevitable part to the slip casting procedure. Slip casting has many advantages. The slip casting process allows for the creation of high detailed duplicates. Slip casting opens the door to experiment with recipes that lack plasticity such as bone china, talc, or spodumene bodies[1]. The slip casting process is also a favored technique because it can produce very consistent results, results like equal density during formation. Traditional slips are mixtures of clays, non plastic minerals, deflocculates, water, and occasionally flocculants. A deflocculant is an electrolyte enables fluidity with a minimal amount of water. Its objective is to restore an individual s level of functioning to that which was experienced prior to the events that triggered the crisis. Critical to this process are the skills of the crisis responder in ensuring that the case assessment and identification of factors that have resulted in the crisis are correctly identified and treated. An incorrect assessment can be potentially fatal. The affects of crisis can result in an individual reacting in one of three ways (James 2008): Some are able to effectively deal with the situation and emerge stronger as a result. Some survive the crisis but block the pain from their awareness which results in ongoing issues and consequences that remain unresolved. The studies of dry needling as a pain relief modality by Travell and Simons began in the 1940s, but were published in this manual much later in1992 and edited in 1999 for the manual s second edition. In this book, Dr. Travell and Simons introduce this new term of dry needling in order to differentiate between two techniques of trigger point therapy. They used wet needling, which referred to the injection of a local anesthetic using a hypodermic needle, and they also used this new technique of dry needling, which referred to the insertion of the hypodermic needle into the myofascial trigger point without the injection of any medication or anesthetic (Travell, Simons Simons, 1999). Myofascial trigger points, colloquially referred to as knots , are classified as hyperirritable spots within a taut band of contracted skeletal muscle fibers that produce local and/or referred pain when stimulated (APTA, 2013). In the infancy of their studies, Travell and Simons preferred the use of the hypodermic needle and never used filiform needles. They believed that the filiform needle was too thin and not strong enough for dry needling; preference was given to the hypodermic needle because of its superior strength and the tactile feedback that it provided at the time. • 31. The s Intention Of An Open Ended Conclusion Author s intention of an open ended conclusion in Recitatif by Toni Morrison. Raising awareness of stereotyping by invoking personal prejudices in interpreting the story. Recitatif by Toni Morrison is about a friendship of two main characters, Twyla and Roberta, facing a falling out as a result of invisible barriers imposed by prejudice. Narrated by Twyla, their development of alienation (slow falling outs) is portrayed through a few counts of unplanned encounters throughout their life in 1960s to 1980s, the progressive period of the civil rights movement (Janken). The time period can be assumed by a few mentionings from the story such as appointment with Jimi Hendrix (par. 47; all page references are to the class text.) a famous guitarist in1960s, IBM people who just moved into the city (par. 55), IBM headquarter was relocated to Armonk in 1964 (Fuchs) and the racial strife (par. 145). The setting plays an important part of the puzzle by giving the readers idea (insight) of the overall atmosphere of the society, where a social class and a racial discrimination considered social norms. In the story, the author repeatedly throws hints of the social class and the racial difference of two main characters to lead the readers to guess and challenge their knowledge by inducing personal perspective into the story. • 32. The Problem Of Global Warming Analyse the problem of global warming and suggest possible solution With the rising global temperatures, the global warming has become more and more popular. In fact, it is a natural phenomenon, which has developed in recent decades due to human?s activities, such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These actions will produce large amounts of greenhouse gas, which would cause the Earth s temperature go up so that the climate will change. There are many reasons why the global climate is changing. Among those, there are two main reasons, the surge of population and serious environmental pollution. Unfortunately, those two reasons are caused by our human?s activities. This essay will analyse the cause of this problem and list two solutions on global warming. • 34. The Beauty Of The Barbie Fashion Doll Humans by nature want what they can t get. It s true, we as a species are materialistic. Many of us want the fastest cars, the biggest houses, the heftiest paychecks, the coolest clothes, and the hottest bodies. We are also incredibly impressionable; one Budweiser commercial, for example, may convince us to go out and buy Budweiser brand beer. An Apple commercial can inadvertently coax thousands of average citizens to drop what they are doing, camp for days outside of the local Best Buy, and wait impatiently to purchase the newest iPhone which includes the newest, most overrated feature to date. Even the toys we manufacture perpetuate this endless cycle of unnecessary wants and desires. According to that archaic proverb, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It s ironic how we hear and repeat this phrase all the time yet we don t practice what we preach. A good example of this can be found with the popularity of the Barbie fashion doll. Something as simple as a piece of plastic with fake hair, exaggerated body features, and miniature outfits can instill in young girls across the world the standard of beauty . With this fragile, impressionable persona that we have engrained in women over time, it seems as if we are driving them to their own demise. Through the use of modern day media, toys, and fashion, we have been betraying women across the globe by mistreatment, underrepresentation, and by sexualizing them. We blatantly sexualize and misrepresent women with the toys we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Primary has unprocessed and information which is not manipulated and it is gathered directly from the source whereas secondary means a reliance on the already researched work which is available and has been researched by numerous scholars and researchers. Both methods are used to gather the important info for the use of exploratory study as in this case. 3.2 Primary data collection Bryman and Bell (2007) said that to carry out a qualitative data then there are two methods used: direct observation and conduction an interview. This approach always provides an analysis in detail and elaborates the research. Creswell (2009) had this view that primary data is important and has a great significance because it is always in a raw form and it is more authentic because it has been collected directly from the source. So, for this study it was suggested to conduct primary data from the students who are studying in UK and the method used for semi structured interview. The reason for using semi structured interview is that; researcher can easily edit the questions asked in a semi structured interview session before they are answered and the questions can be manipulated which makes it more valuable and important for any research. To conduct an interview, the queries are based on the idea to rely on the basic aim and objective of the field of the study and also highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
