Petitto And Marentette 1991
Petitto Marentette (1991) provides key evidence to suggest that babbling is in fact a brain based
language capacity which enhances with maturity and not a speech based phenomenon based on
physical vocal maturation [1]. To reach this conclusion Petitto Marentette (1991) conducted an
experiment in which they analysed the vocal babbling of infants as well as the manual babbling of
deaf infants [1]. The relevance of this decision is based on the fact, that sign language, like all other
languages, is developed through language acquisition, thus if there is no correlation between manual
babbling and vocal babbling, this would strength the stance that babbling is the product of physical
maturation. The study, however, did conclude that manual

Political Influence On Julius Caesar
As humans we tend to take different sides or have particular opinions about certain events in our lives;
nothing seems to have changed as this was a common occurrence in one of the most remarkable
civilisations in the world, Ancient Rome, and its political influence is still felt today. The drastic
change from the Roman Republic to the one man empire was a decision made by Julius Caesar when
others did not have the power to challenge him. Julius Caesar believed in a one man Government, he
liked change and used his own power to make sure that change happened; and his power was proved
when he changed this political outline that had been in place for five hundred years to his own. The
Republic laid down the traditions and institutions of Government,

Emergency Plan Essay
8. Outline of emergency plans
The UK has two separate plans regarding influenza; the first is their pandemic plan; the second is their
annual influenza plan for seasonal influenza. The focus of each plan is broadly similar, and it is to
mitigate the impact of any influenza outbreak, epidemic or pandemic by: adequate surveillance and
detection of cases; prevention of infection using vaccination; treatment of high risk cases with
antivirals; and non pharmaceutical control of transmission by recommending hand and respiratory
hygiene, self isolation and limited use of face masks for health and social care workers. The
differences in the plans lie mainly with vaccination and the scope of the plans regarding control of
transmission (DOH, 2011; Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local health authorities are responsible for delivery of healthcare aspects of the plan, including
vaccination and antiviral treatment, as well as local surveillance (DOH, 2011). However, the impact of
a pandemic will potentially be felt across every sector of society and thus the pandemic plans extend
to recommendations for all business and public sectors, including essential services such as
water/sewage, energy, education, food supplies and transport. They also extend to the media as they
have a role in disseminating information, and to recommendations for Ministry of Defence (MOD)
involvement to provide assistance if civil capabilities are exceeded (DOH, 2011). Part 2 of the Civil
Contingencies Act 2004 allows for emergency powers to be established in extreme situations and The
Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 extends powers to the level of the individual allowing
restrictions to be imposed on an individual provided they are in the best interests of public health

Asian American Identity
Master of One: The Asian American Identity
After spending a year studying the Asian American (AA) identity, I still find it hard to write about how
I perceive the AA identity. In its basic sense, the Asian American identity includes all those with Asian
ethnicity who identify themselves as Americans. Beneath the surface, there is the idea of straddling
two different world, and crossing between my Asian culture and American society on a daily basis. It
involves molding my Chinese traditions to fit into the mold of white societal expectations in order to
be accepted in school. It involves yelling at my mom when her language barrier doesn t allow me to
talk to her like a white parent . It involves walking with my grandparents to the supermarket ... Show

Slavery in Ancient Greece and Rome Essay
Slavery was the practice of taking a human being and making them do the work of another by force.
This was practiced through out the ancient world and especially in Rome and Greece. Slaves were
nothing more than just property to the ancient peoples. They didn t have the rights of citizens nor were
they able to do what they want in most cases. Slaves had many tasks that they had to do, many of
which included taking care of the masters house and kids, cooking and cleaning that house, herding
the cattle for the farming families, being guards for some prisons, fighting for entertainment of the
masses, and more common was sexual activities with the slaves. The most common use of a slave was
to have the around the house to do common tasks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The owners could do with the slaves what they wished, be it sexual favors or they could beat them at
will. Beating a slave though was not usually the best thing that an owner of slaves could do because
they didn t want to damage their property. To get a slave to work hard wasn t that difficult most of the
time, all the owner had to do was refrain from beating and instead be nice to them. In Rome some
slaves were offered freedom if they met certain criteria of the owner. After earning their freedom they
were given citizenship in the city. This gave the slaves a reason to work hard, something to look
forward to. Although slaves worked mainly inside of the house there were owners who used them for
other reasons also. Slaves are living tools this is Aristotle defining what slaves are, and this is what
they were used as by everyone, inside the house and out of it. Almost everyone in the ancient world
had a slave or two, the only exception was with the poorest families. There was even slaves that
owned their own slaves, usually only one of the opposite sex though so that they could have some
semblance of a family. Pliny, a governor of a Roman province wrote to emperor Trajan asking if he
should use the slaves as guards in a local prison or use soldiers or to mix them both in there. Pliny
obviously trusted his slaves enough if he was willing

New Liberalism Essay
New Liberalism
Old liberalism, otherwise know as classical or Gladstonian liberalism was centred around the
fundamental rights of the individual. It was an ideology that the state should have little to no
intervention in people s lives and in the economy. It relied heavily upon the notion of laissez faire, and
the Victorian mindset of self help. Thrift was one of these ideas. It was the theory that any family
could support itself if that income was managed wisely, and a pension could be saved for. The key
pillars of old liberalism was low taxes and low state intervention. This was because they believed that
the people should be able to spend their money as they wised, and not be forced to send it ... Show

Towards the end of the century this was coming into question. Other European nations were
industrialising and eating into Britain s profits. There was a thought among the British public that as
long as the economy was growing, eventually prosperity would filter down to the lower classes. But as
the economy began to shrink, according to Lee it eroded the attractions of industrial growth as a
panacea for society s ills. Victorian notions were rapidly becoming out of date and viewed as wrong,
not only economically, but morally as well. In London and York, studies showed that a third of people
lived in poverty as a direct result of simply not having a large enough income to cover their basic
needs, while thousands more lived in poverty due to inadequate education to manage there finances.
Laissez faire was being proven to be out dated in Birmingham where the conservative mayor Joseph
Chamberlain had shown that local government taking control for and organised public amenities and
facilities could benefit the community as a whole. Not only did this destroy laissez faire, but also it
was an attack by the Tories on Liberal values. In the 1880 s socialism was starting to gain ground as
the lower classes saw that their situation was not increases, and at the

The Importance Of Informed Consent
What is informed consent and when, why and how must the physician obtained this consent? From the
Medicine Net they defined Informed Consent as The process by which a patient learns about the
procedure, understands the purpose, benefits, and potential risks of a medical or surgical intervention,
including clinical trails, and then agrees to receive the treatment or participate in the trial. Informed
consent generally requires the patient or responsible party to sign a statement confirming that they
understand the risks and benefits of the procedure or treatment.
Informed consent needs to be obtained by the physician when a procedure with anesthesia is used, if
the patient is undergoing any type of surgery, a procedure that is entering the body through the skin or
through a body cavity, or if the patient is asked to be in a clinical research trial. This type of consent is
necessary so the patient and the physician are both on the same page of the patient s understanding
and willingness to participate in the procedure. It is also for the patient to know their right to stop the
procedure before or during the procedure. It also informs the patient that if they do not want the
procedure they have alternatives they can choose from.
The American Medical Association describes the 8 steps on how to obtain Informed consent, as: The
Physician informs participants about (1) the purpose of the procedure, expected duration and
procedures; (2) their right to decline to participate and

Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman...
Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman
Judith Grossman wrote an article concerning women s subjectivity in Arabian Nights. The article
brought out many points to which I had never given thought. As I read the novel, I saw that women
were considered evil and bad, but I didn t think much more of it. After reading Grossman s article I
must say I agree with many of the thoughts expressed. She focuses on the fact that women are
considered to be evil, but it is just because their true self has never had a chance to be free. Women are
locked into this reciprocal cycle of deceit and unfaithfulness, only after being oppressed by their
husbands or keepers, as in the case of the Jinnee and the maiden. Grossman s article ... Show more

The maiden says, But I have lain under as many men as I ve desired, and this wretched jinnee doesn t
realize that destiny cannot be averted or hindered by anything and that whatever a woman wants, she
will get, no matter how much a man might try to prevent it.(11) It is easy to see that she is rebelling in
her own way against the rules set forth by the jinnee and all of mankind. She has a deep hatred
towards men, and she makes herself feel better by dominating strange men and threatening them with
the loss of their lives. Although she cannot actually kill them her captor the jinnee, will without a
second thought. Though she is dominated by the jinnee, she has a power over the men she finds. This
evens out the balance of power a little between the jinnee and the maiden. Women are made out to be
awful, horrible creatures from which men should take cover. In Arabian Nights there are many
passages in which women are negatively portrayed. For example, This only proves that all women will
make cuckolds out of their husbands when given the chance...No man in this world is safe from the
malice of women! (6) This is only one of many blatant sexist remarks in this text. Grossman takes the
stance in her article, ...but my focus is not on the solipsistic narrator it is on narration as a social act
undertaken in a specified context of events.(113) To me this means that she is focusing on what
character is doing the narration in the context

Homeopathy For Anxiety Research Paper
Homeopathy for anxiety is not a new concept. In fact, people have been using various herbs and plants
to treat the symptoms of panic and anxiety for centuries. The healing nature of these plants has been
well recorded and they provide a safe, gentle alternative to more traditional medications. For
individuals who want to ease anxiety and avoid the possibility of serious side effects, natural
treatments are the obvious answer. Anxiety is caused by the malfunction of neurotransmitters within
the brain. The resulting symptoms can include pervasive feelings of dread and uneasiness and physical
conditions including sweaty palms and increased heart rate. In most cases, anti depressants or
benzodiazepines will be prescribed to help ease symptoms, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The leaves of the plant and its dried fruit can be used in anxiety homeopathy to reduce arterial
pressure and ease respiration, resulting in a calming effect. Similarly, St. John s Wort has been shown
to have a calming effect and has often been used to treat hysteria and nervousness. The real secret to
homeopathy for anxiety is combining these herbs in just the right blend to help get the maximum
effect. Together, Passion Flower and St. John s Wort can promote proper functioning of the nervous
system, stabilize moods and help improve emotional well being. And because they are 100% natural,
they carry no harmful side effects making them the most effective homeopathy for anxiety treatment
and one that is safe for individuals of every age to use. Homeopaths have known about the healing
power of nature for centuries and have drawn on it to treat a number of ailments. Now it is easier than
ever to take the natural path when it comes to easing your anxiety symptoms. Don t assume that you

The Pagan Origins of Christianity Essay
The first part of this paper will explore the mystery religions, the reasons behind their popularity, and
the Hellenistic world in which they grew that began with Alexander the Great. Next, their
characteristics and connections first with Judaism and later with Christianity will be more deeply
discussed. In the second part it will be shown that the mystery religions helped to clear the pathway
for the Christianization of the Greco Roman world by men such as Paul the Apostle. Finally, the
Emperor Constantine s role in this story will be mentioned, during whose reign the mystery religions
declined and Christianity became the major religion of Europe and the near east. The paper will
conclude with a brief speculation about the significance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After learning these mysteria, members were considered reborn or born again. Christianity in fact
began along these lines of practice. Its most important ceremony, the Mass or Eucharist, in which the
body and blood of Christ were symbolically eaten in the forms of bread and wine, was forbidden to all
but a select few who had completed three levels of initiation. Most early Christians, whether of Jewish
or Gentile origin, would have been familiar the concept of mysteria. Throughout the Mediterranean
world, religious communities based on this idea of secret teachings thrived.
Another common element in the mystery religions was their tendency to worship the divine on what
we today would think of as a higher spiritual level than standard Greek and Roman religions did. The
idea of a spiritual world as separate from the material world, first promoted by Plato, was fully
adopted by the mystery religions and provided them with a basis for belief in life after death.
Conversely, ancient Greco Roman religion and Judaism contained nothing that addressed this new
concept of separate worlds. Traditional public worship in both Jewish and Gentile communities
generally emphasized the material world in its requests for good crops, healthy children and success in
business. Worship in a closed

Physics of Rainbows Essay
When the Sun s light is refracted on passing through tiny rain droplets falling in the air a Rainbow is
formed. Rainbows only need light from the sun or the moon and a large amount of spherical raindrops
to form in the atmosphere. The rainbows can be compared to mini prisms. The light is refracted (
bending of light as it passes from one medium to another ) and it causes different wavelengths (or
colors) of the white light to separate. Whether these wavelengths of light will pass through the
raindrop or reflect depends on the angle the light strikes the back of the raindrop. If a wavelength of
the light strikes the back of the raindrop at an angle less than 48 degree relative to the normal then the
light will pass through the raindrop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact a rainbow is made up of the entire spectrum of colors from red to violet and beyond to the
ultraviolet and infrared sections of the spectrum, which the eye is not capable of detecting.
The speed of the wavelength of white light before it hits the raindrop determines the color a raindrop
will emit. If the wavelength of white light travels at a slow speed, then the wavelength of light will
bend more when it enters the raindrop.
Wavelength of the color violet is bent the most when it enters the raindrop. While red light is bent the
least when it enters the raindrop. The violet light will emerge from the raindrop at an angle of 40
degrees relative to the observer s line of sight. While red light will emerge at an angle of 42 degrees.
Thus, violet light has the shortest wavelength. Red, being at the opposite edge, has the longest
wavelength. Moving from the violet edge through the colors to red at the opposite edge the
wavelength gets longer. Other colors of the spectrum can be seen in between 40 and 42 degrees
relative to the observer s line of sight. It is important to note that only one color of light is emitted
from each raindrop. A large amount of raindrops produce a wide spectrum of colors of a rainbow.
There are certain colors which cannot be seen by the eye. This is why the observer sees four to five
solid colors of a rainbow. The color bands of a rainbow always have the same order since the shorter
wavelengths of light are refracted

Pro-Life-Arguments Against Abortion
Life can be really harsh on a woman, especially when she is opting to have an abortion. Abortion may
emerge as the only way or option for some women. Although a mother may have a difficult time when
opting for this option, she may ultimately consider this harsh reality, keeping in mind all the pros and
cons of this decision. In fact, abortion has been and always will be a hot and heated topic amongst the
masses as people have their own thoughts and opinion regarding it.
Now let s take a look at Pro Life versus Pro Choice.
Pro Life Arguments Against Abortion
Since some of us thinks life begins at conception, abortion is equivalent to murder as it is the act of
taking a living thing life. Abortion is having a disregard for human life.

With 1.8 million American families looking to adopt a child, so there s no such thing as an unwanted
child.
An abortion can cause medical problems later in life, the risk of miscarriage and also the chance of an
ectopic pregnancy increases.
If a rape and/or incest occur, with the appropriate medical care can ensure that a woman will not get
pregnant. But abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime. The perpetrator is the one
who should be punished.
Abortion should not be used as a form of contraception.
Taxpaying Americans are opposed to abortion; therefore it s ethically wrong to use tax money to fund
abortion.
Minors and young women are the one who choose abortions most often. Many have lifelong regrets
after an abortion..
Pro Choice Arguments For Abortion

Climate And Climate Change
The global climate is predicted to change rapidly over the next century and many environmental
changes will happen (Houghton et al., 2001). The increasing of atmospheric CO2 concentration is the
main reason for climate change phenomenon (IPCC Climate Change, 2007). As a result for increased
atmospheric CO2, global surface temperatures are predicted to increase between 1.8 and 3.6 1C by the
year 2100 (IPCC Climate Change, 2007). The increased temperature, will lead to soil water content
decrease in some areas (Le Houerou, 1996). Agriculture is one of the most important sector for the
survival of human life is highly affected by climate change (Deryng et al., 2014). Lobell and Field
(2007), demonstrated a decrease in maize yields 8.3 % per 1 C rise, which improve the harmful effects
of temperatures increases. Also the rising temperatures increase the rate of phenological development,
leading to a smaller plant and less productivity due to life cycle shortage. In fact abiotic and biotic
stress is a serious condition causing major problem for crop productivity. About 20 % of cultivable
and at least half of irrigated lands around the world are severely affected by environmental stresses.
However, in these conditions, there are plant populations successfully adapted and evolutionarily
different in their strategy of stress tolerance (Choudhary et al., 2016). One of the most vulnerable
stages of plant development to temperature stress is the pollination phase because of pollen s

Notorious Crimes In The 1920 s
1920s Notorious Crimes and Society
In the 1920s, notorious crimes and trials greatly impacted American culture and daily life. Some of the
major crimes are ones created by Al Capone. Al Capone was a big part of crime in the 1920s because
he could control the whole city of Chicago during prohibition. He was behind the St. Valentine s
Massacre and earned nearly 60 million dollars selling illegal alcohol (History). Leopold and Loeb was
disturbing in that the young boys would kidnap and kill for a ransom. All of these crimes committed in
the 1920s have greatly affected culture and daily life. Al Capone owned the city of Chicago during
prohibition. By the age of 26 he had become the most powerful crime boss of his day (Sifakis). He

The people who committed the crime were Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold both young and
intelligent students (Linder). The crime happened in Chicago in 1924. Lots of people called it as the
first trial of the century (Linder). When a trial is called something like that, it probably affected the
culture and daily life of many americans. The crime captured national attention (Linder). 18 year old
Loeb was obsessed with crimes, he planned them, and committed them (Linder). None of the crimes
he did were as serious as the one that struck the nation (Linder). He was the youngest graduate ever at
the University of Michigan (Linder). His 19 year old partner Leopold was also an intelligent person.
He was a law student at the University of Chicago, and was planning on going to Harvard Law school
(Linder). With the expectation of these young kids, people would wonder why they would do such a
thing. They planned out their crime for months and it wasn t their goal to murder someone (Linder).
Their original plan was to kidnap the child of a wealthy family and ransom to get some money, but the
14 year old victim, Bobby Franks, was an acquaintance of the two boys (Linder). He was in the wrong
place at the wrong time. Clarence Darrow, their lawyer described their relationship as weird and
almost impossible, which could have been a reason for the murder (Linder). It is thought that Leopold

The Personality Characteristics Of Personality
The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a
person s everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes
causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person s characteristics are unique and come
together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is subjective
to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as
likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is
seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these
characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will
has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice
over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that
a person can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea

Greengrass Monologue
GREENGRASS, I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU THAT I GOT DIBS ON THE BATHROOM! Draco
groaned as he slunk down to the floor, wondering how the hell he d got himself in this predicament.
One week ago, he believed that it was a perfectly normal idea that this could actually work. Now, he
was left wondering exactly what potion Greengrass had slipped him to accept this stupid proposition
of living together. She was totally insufferable. Draco valued neatness after all that was how he was
brought up but Astoria took this to a new level. She d ensure that everything was immaculate at all

Good, thought Draco. Perhaps the silly girl has finally learnt to keep quiet for more than a second.
Walking out of the apartment, Draco hauled the full rubbish bag to the bin, avidly avoiding holding
any of his neighbours glances. Draco returned to find Astoria sitting on the counter, seemingly frozen.
As he stepped on a particularly creaky floorboard, she seemed to become aware of his presence. Her
eyes shone with tears as she stiffened immediately. Blinking a few times, Draco realised immediately
that he d almost reduced her to tears. Good Merlin, he thought, he almost felt bad. That was a first.
Pushing this disturbing thought aside, he decided to pry. So, Greengrass, got any jobs lined up yet?
She looked at him carefully, waiting for the punch line. You know, you have to get one soon so you

Global Warming Is A Serious Problem
Global warming is a serious problem the world faces today. Most people don t know, or just don t
care, what global warming is and how it affects them. What causes global warming? What effect is it
or will it have on my life? How can we fix it? It is not too late to save our planet but it will take some
effort from everyone. The earth s atmosphere is supposed to trap heat or the earth would freeze
overnight and it would be uninhabitable. The problem is all the extra chemicals that we are putting up
in the atmosphere like methane and co2. When we put all these chemicals in the air they build up in
the atmosphere and trap even more heat than is needed resulting in rising temperatures. However
chemicals in the air are not the only reason for climate change and the decline of our environment.
Five millions gallons of toxins are dumped into the oceans every day and as a result of this and over

Sea levels are expected to rise between seven and twenty three inches by the end of the century and
continued melting at the poles could add another four to eight inches(NationalGeographic). Almost

The Characteristics Of Hamlet From Hamlet And Walter White...
A Byronic hero is an anti hero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare
wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even with though
these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in
common, their main character was a Byronic hero. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from
Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because
each have a troubled backstory, each are anti heroes, both are criminals, have high intelligence and
useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to
experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s
father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his
mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White fifty year old
man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up everyday. He
must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and
his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi
billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousands dollars. Then to
make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday.
Byronic heroes typically have a troubled or empathetic backstory like Hamlet and Walter do. Their
experiences affected them both deeply enough that their personas would change throughout the course
of their stories and lead them to become more of a dark hero and then more villain like. Hamlet started
to go down a spiral of madness whilst debating on whether or not to commit suicide while Walter went
down his own spiral of slowly losing himself, his family, and his morals. Since a Byronic hero is a the
ultimate antihero, one of the qualifications to be a Byronic hero is to be an antihero. They are typically
realists rather than idealists. Realist access situations and examining the facts without using their
emotions while idealists see situations with a

Chemtrails is a conspiracy that everyone has been thinking about, and has been getting more and more

this conspiracy, Chemtrails, some think that they are chemicals sprayed to help the human race

they are a gel like substance that makes people ill, and the government would do this to help with

Lab Report On Amylase
Abstract
Amylase is an enzyme that is located in human saliva. It is solely accountable for breaking down
starch as a way to start the breakdown of food and is one of the first steps of digestion. The time at
which the enzyme starts the chemical reaction with starch is called the reaction rate. In order to study
how amylase works against starch, this experiment consisted of two tests; each testing a different
condition of amylase. The first test was to simply study the reaction between saliva and amylase and
note the reaction rates. The second test was to see if increasing the pH would decrease the reaction
rate or halt it all together. Saliva was collected, diluted, and tested for reactions between starch and
amylase. Another sample of saliva was collected, diluted, and had its pH increased and tested for
reaction rate. The findings after the experiment was conducted aligned with the original hypothesis.
The change in pH did show a significant decrease in the reaction rate.
Introduction
Proteins are one of the key biomolecules that make up the human body and facilitate different
processes and reactions in the body (Silverthorn, 2016). Proteins exist in every cell in the human body
and there are many different types of proteins with specialized functions that are necessary to maintain
homeostasis (Silverthorn, 2016). Enzymes are a type of protein that performs like catalysts in the cells

War of the Roses For my research project I chose the war of the roses because it is interesting and
relates to us and where we live. I visited York, England this past Thanksgiving and learned some
background on this during our trip. York, England is about 3 hours north of London and is an
interesting medieval city with small narrow streets and modern living at the same time. The war of the
roses started on May 22, 1455 with the battle of St. Albans and ended on June 16, 1487 with the battle
of Stoke. King Henry VI and the Duke of Somerset, Edmund Beaufort, tried to keep the Duke of York,

Kingmaker . Edward IV, son of Richard IV, became the new king of England and one year later the

(Weir, Battle of St Albans, 2012) Four years prior to the battle of Towton, the Battle of Wakefield,
occurred and it had looked as though the Yorkists were going to dominate this war. During the Battle
of Wakefield the Yorkists received a devastating blow with the loss of their leader, Richard IV, and
other commanders during this battle. The Yorkist seamed defeated until the capture of King Henry VI.
The deciding factor in the war was during the battle of Edecote Moor when the Yorkists made a new
alliance with France and the King of England was also on their side. The new alliance with France and
the power of the king would prove to be the deciding factor in this war and would win the war for the
Yorkists. (Weir, Battle of Wakefield, 2012) During the Battle of Bosworth Field King Edward IV died
of an illness and his son Edward V became King at the age of 12. Richard V, the Duke of Gloucester,

Why I Am A Motor Skill
When observing Presley, with her body size you noticed she is larger than the other children around

system; practice unbalanced, wide legged, short strides become steady, smooth gait, Presley was
surpassed that stage. She walked with her arms down, not out, and legs were close together. The other
children around her seemed to be in the practice phase. One fine motor skill I noticed was a mouth
skill, pronunciation. Her words were clear, making it easier to understand what she asked for or
talking in general. She said zapatoes , which is a spanish word for shoes and was said clearly and
understood. Presley grasping was more focused on toys, while I was there she did not get into any
altercations(pulling hair/biting) with the other children. Because Presley is two years old, I noticed
more Tertiary Circular Reactions, rather than primary/secondary circular reaction. For an example of
stage six, when Presley was trying to put the shorts on the doll, she placed the doll on the on the table
and when she tried to put the shorts on the doll would slide forward, making it difficult for her to get
the shorts on. She had others around her and did not ask for help, until another

The same concept similarly applies to photographs online and in electronic form. The section fails to
be clear on whether a person who acquires a copy of a digital photograph, for example by
downloading it from [a source on] the internet, [is] the owner of that copy (Smiers, 2005). Another
condition that is flawed is where the reproduction of an original photograph is prohibited if the person
uses the reproduced copy to make further reproductions. This allows a person to infringe copyright
once without payment to copyright, yet not allow them to do so further, when they should not be
granted to do so at all. The exception also does not abide by the World Intellectual Property

apply in certain special cases..., not conflict with a normal exploitation of a work and do not
unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests of the author . Ultimately by reproducing the material
in a different form which copyright holders sell and license, without payment or permission in the first
place, the exception permits a person to effectively undertake in piracy. In order for section 47J to be

The Pearl Greed Quotes Analysis
Greed is perhaps one of the most destructive forces in this world, it breeds anger, hate, jealousy, and
more. The novella The Pearl is based on how the finding of a pearl causes greed to be awakened in the
hearts of people and cause them to commit evil. During the Novella, Steinbeck develops the theme
that greed left unchecked can cause immoral behavior and that is show in the doctor, the attackers, and
Kino. All of them are forced by greed to commit sins that they otherwise would not do.
The doctor is someone who let his greed lead to immoral behavior.
An excellent example of greed consuming people are the attackers. They were willing to do whatever

relationship steadily deteriorates as shown in this quote Kino, she said huskily, I am afraid. A man can
be killed. Let us throw the pearl back into the sea. Hush, he said fiercely. I am a man. Hush. . That
shows that as time goes by Kino is acting ruder and harshly to Juana all because of the greed the pearl
caused. Another example is This thing is evil, she cried harshly. This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy
us, and her voice rose shrilly. Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it between stones. Let us bury it and

Kino is sure this is the way and is willing to do whatever is necessary to become wealthy. This causes
a strain between their relation. Finally the worst thing Kino commits is the act of attacked Juana. He is
described as a snake hissing at her and hitting her that makes her fall. He even continues to kick her
after she has fallen and she accepts it and knows he may even murder her. This shows that Kino has

In general evil was characterised as the opposite of good, in which good should prevail and evil
should be defeated. This in turn coined the term of good vs evil. Christianity, Buddhism, Sikhism,
Hinduism, and many other religions all adopted the idea of good vs evil. The idea developed into
many religions and it eventually formed into the belief of good vs evil. Prior to World War II there was
very little philosophical literature on the concept of evil so the general agreement was that
supernatural forces influenced good and evil.
In the 19th century, the danger of evil was displayed during European expansion and the infamous

Sadest Poem Essay
Saddest Poem

and fellow colleagues were divided into groups and were handed out specific tasks such as building a
gingerbread house. Our team had some of the best employees in my division and I naturally expected
us to win the teambuilding event. To everybody s surprise we could never got started on the activity. It
was not clear then why we failed to even kick start the teambuilding activity. During this course I
started to understand the reason behind our failure. It was due to lack of an able leadership. None of us
were willing to be a leader, one who can create a healthy space for communication, display vision,
empower others with confidence and create a comfortable space to work. This

Spain Sub Prime Crisis
Name of the University Master Thesis Banking system reforms after the subprime crises Study case:
Spain Author: | Supervisor: | | | Department of ................................. January 2014 Abstract How did
the Subprime Crisis, a small problem of U.S. financial markets, affect the entire global banking
system? The aim of this paper is to analyze the effect of the subprime crisis on the banking sector in
Europe, with a close attention on the case of Spain. Spain is currently facing the worst crisis ever
experienced in its financial history, so it would be interesting to analyze what is the real situation of
the banking sector and what will be the reforms that could lead to a consolidation of the financial
systems. The strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have different shapes and sizes, taking different forms during time, and usually spread across
borders. Financial crises are often the product of asset and credit booms that eventually turn into busts.
This booms can be identify in time but no one still has an answer of why they are allowed to continue,
knowing that can rapidly become unsustainable and turn into busts or crunches. The subprime crisis:
origins and evolutionThe subprime crisis is an over studied topic studied by a vast number of thinkers
trying to establish the cause and to find the culpable for the greatest economic collapse since great
depression. Trying to point out a single cause as the root of the crisis is however impossible as our
current situation is the results of a set of political, economic and social policies. A lot of literature is
dedicated to the subprime crises subject, all finding guilt in the management and moral hazard existent
in the American economy. It all started on the American continent and soon became viral thru all the
world s economies. The interdependence of countries created a wave effect, so all the symptoms of the
crises could be seen in different time periods, in the whole world. The growths catches a faster pace
with the help of financial instruments that were created to provide liquidity to the markets. So we
could see the widespread securitization of mortgages pushing the credit market to develop under

Lab 3: Designing the Infrastructure for the Network
1. Draw a diagram the new network.
2. Will the current horizontal cabling suffice for the new network? If it will not, what type of cable
should be used for the horizontal cabling? Provide detailed specifications for this cable.
In my opinion Cat 6 cable should be used instead the Category 5 CM rated UTP cable as the
horizontal cables that are connected to the patch panel mounted in a relay rack in each of building
closets. Cat6 is the most advanced cable in its category. . Cat 6 cable supports up to 10 Gigabit
Ethernet for up to about 37 meters or 121 feet. Cat6 cables are made up of four twisted sets of copper
wire and its abilities surpass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This layer is also called the Workgroup layer.
6. Does this network need a core layer? What devices would operate at the core layer?
The core layer is considered the backbone of the network and includes the high end switches and high
speed cables such as fiber cables. This layer of the network does not route traffic at the LAN. In
addition, no packet manipulation is done by devices in this layer. Rather, this layer is concerned with
speed and ensures reliable delivery of packets.
7. Is redundancy required at any layer of this network? If it is, where and how would this redundancy
be added to the network? What device or devices would be used to make this network redundant?
A goal of redundant topologies is to eliminate network down time caused by a single point of failure.
All networks need redundancy for enhanced reliability. Network reliability is achieved through
reliable equipment and network designs that are tolerant to failures and faults. Networks should be
designed to reconverge rapidly so that the fault is bypassed.
In a redundant mesh topology network devices are connected with many redundant interconnections
between network nodes. In a true mesh topology every node has a connection to every other node in
the network. A mesh network with redundant connections is an example of a redundant topology. The
level of redundancy can be measured by network connectivity.
On a redundantly connected network if a

Sleep-Wake Homeostasis
The research article explains how there may be something that controls when you go to sleep and how
long you are sleeping for. Your body has an internal clock that helps regulate when you sleep and
wake up. This clock is called sleep wake homeostasis. Homeostasis is comprised of three parts. There
is a receiver that relays incoming senses, a central system that interprets the senses, and an effector
that acts on the information relayed by the central system. The body s internal clock induces sleep
when one is awake for too long, so this experiment is specifically designed to find the method the
body takes to induce sleep. The experiment in this article uses flies as the test subject to examine
which controller controls sleepiness and how long

Silent Words in Art
The Magdalen with a smoking flame is an art piece that was done by George De La Tour in 1640.
De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas. This painting was
created in France then it was moved to the one of the most respected museums of the Los Angeles
county Museum of art. The size of the painting is 128cm by 94cm, by looking at this painting the
elements that were used are very noticeable the texture in this work gives it a very smooth and rough
feel at the same time. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in this painting and so is
the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see all the light that illuminates
Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that Mary Magdalen is thinking of something that is
unknown to us. All of the objects in the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp, and lighting of the
candle make up the unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be thinking as she meditates
on the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art. Magdalen is an actual
character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and gazing into a simple flame lamp
(Louvre, de Musee Paris).
This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the suffering of Jesus Christ.
De
La Tour is most known for depicting scenes from the bible and characters. The books that are on top
of the table are represented as bibles. When I

The Effect Of Communication On The Satisfaction Of A...
Why take another look at communication again? because most studies that have been done, do the
same thing over and over. They use self reports that are coded themselves or that the research will
have the participants code, tons of different questionnaires that take time for the participants to do, and
it is really not relevant for the new generations. With the studies that have been done, almost half of all
first marriage still end in divorce. It looks like the system that we use to study and try to help curb this
just isn t working, because of the measures that are used it just speak to the generation anymore. This
study is different, it will use a video game as the measure to study the effects of communication on the
satisfaction in a relationship. The video game doesn t take much time, and time is very important to
this generation that is always on the go. It is also a lot more relevant for this generation of couples as
well. This study will also be looking at specifically communication in a stressful situation, which the
studies have not covered before. This is important because every couple as arguments and by studying
this hopefully it will curb the amount of arguments in the relationship and help lower the first
marriage divorce rates. There was a study done just recently that looked at whether communication
predicted satisfaction or satisfaction predicted communication? The study didn t really find whether
one predicted the other.(Lavner, et al, 2016, p. 1 15)

The Progressive Movement Of The American Progressive Era
When it comes to the American Progressive Era there is really no other movement like it. This was a
movement that had not just one but many faces that ranged from people as big as Theodore Roosevelt
and Woodrow Wilson to people like Jane Addams that accomplished so much. It was a movement so
broad that it encompassed basically everyone and spoke not just to but for all those excluded from
power. It also wasn t just one big movement but a conglomeration of them varying from social, to
economic, to political. After the Gilded Age and the rapid start of Industrialization many Americans
were concerned that urbanization as well as trusts and monopolies were taking over the nation. In
theory the Progressive movement was a response to this as well as the breakdown of representative
government, the exploitation of women and children, and the growth of financial and industrial
concentration.
Jane Addams particular role in the movement showed how it wasn t just the unhappy elite or middle
class who wanted change but also the women, immigrants, blacks, and the poor. With the writing of
her book Twenty Years at Hull House Addams wanted to share the beliefs and ideals that she had
always nurtured and tried to accomplish. This was her belief in bringing all members of society into
the scope of democracy and to reach a compromise that protected the rights of the individual while
fulfilling the need of the nation as a whole. Progressives as a whole usually drew from either the

Adventures Of An Engineer s Thumb Essay
In the short story The Adventures of an Engineer s Thumb , written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a
hydraulic engineer named Victor Hatherley seeks the help of Dr. Watson and Sherlock Homes as he is
brought to them with a broken thumb. Hatherley then explains that he accepted a job offering from a
mysterious man named Colonel Lysander Stark. Stark tasked him to look at one of his hydraulic press
machines that he owns. He says that he uses this machine to process a specific type of clay which is
found on his land. Stark tells Hatherley that he himself can t be seen working on his property for fear
of his neighbors finding out that he had stuck into a gold mine. Even though Hatherley was
unconvinced of Stark s explanation, he decided to accept the job because he was in need of money. It
was only after examining the hydraulic press that Hatherley found out that the press was being used
for heinous purposes. Stark then realizes that Hatherley found out about his plans so he tries to kill
him but only manages to cut Hatherley s thumb. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though engineers have the ability to design and manufacture things that have the potential of
increasing productivity and proficiency, they can also lead to destructive inventions. Consider the state
of the art census machine IBM developed that sold to Germany in the 1930. These devices would
allow for the collection of population data that can be studied for positive purposes. Instead, the Third
Reich used it to identify Jews and other ethic minorities which lead to the Holocaust. Even though the
IBM engineers had not designed the machine to be used to discriminate, they will forever hold the
weight of all the lives of the people lost in the Holocaust. Even though Hatherley had suspicions of
Starks reason for the job, he decided to go ahead with

Taking a Look at Brazil
The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition defines Culture as the shared patterns of
behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and affective understanding that are learned through a
process of socialization. These shared patterns identify the members of a culture group while also
distinguishing those of another group. (Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition) In an
article called Cultural Factor Highly Influences On Consumers Their Buying Behavior In Indian
Context, the basic characteristics of culture are described: Culture has five basic characteristics: It is
learned, shared, based on symbols, integrated, and dynamic. All cultures share these basic features.
Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is unconscious.
We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of learning culture is
known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as food, sleep, and sex,
the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared. Culture is shared by a firmly
large group of human beings living in organized societies and works as a linking force. Generally,
common religion and language are the critical elements that largely help people share values, customs,
norms and experiences. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that stands for something
else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They

  • 2. Petitto And Marentette 1991 Petitto Marentette (1991) provides key evidence to suggest that babbling is in fact a brain based language capacity which enhances with maturity and not a speech based phenomenon based on physical vocal maturation [1]. To reach this conclusion Petitto Marentette (1991) conducted an experiment in which they analysed the vocal babbling of infants as well as the manual babbling of deaf infants [1]. The relevance of this decision is based on the fact, that sign language, like all other languages, is developed through language acquisition, thus if there is no correlation between manual babbling and vocal babbling, this would strength the stance that babbling is the product of physical maturation. The study, however, did conclude that manual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Political Influence On Julius Caesar As humans we tend to take different sides or have particular opinions about certain events in our lives; nothing seems to have changed as this was a common occurrence in one of the most remarkable civilisations in the world, Ancient Rome, and its political influence is still felt today. The drastic change from the Roman Republic to the one man empire was a decision made by Julius Caesar when others did not have the power to challenge him. Julius Caesar believed in a one man Government, he liked change and used his own power to make sure that change happened; and his power was proved when he changed this political outline that had been in place for five hundred years to his own. The Republic laid down the traditions and institutions of Government, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Emergency Plan Essay 8. Outline of emergency plans The UK has two separate plans regarding influenza; the first is their pandemic plan; the second is their annual influenza plan for seasonal influenza. The focus of each plan is broadly similar, and it is to mitigate the impact of any influenza outbreak, epidemic or pandemic by: adequate surveillance and detection of cases; prevention of infection using vaccination; treatment of high risk cases with antivirals; and non pharmaceutical control of transmission by recommending hand and respiratory hygiene, self isolation and limited use of face masks for health and social care workers. The differences in the plans lie mainly with vaccination and the scope of the plans regarding control of transmission (DOH, 2011; Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also extend to the media as they have a role in disseminating information, and to recommendations for Ministry of Defence (MOD) involvement to provide assistance if civil capabilities are exceeded (DOH, 2011). Part 2 of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 allows for emergency powers to be established in extreme situations and The Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 extends powers to the level of the individual allowing restrictions to be imposed on an individual provided they are in the best interests of public health (DOH, ... In its basic sense, the Asian American identity includes all those with Asian ethnicity who identify themselves as Americans. Beneath the surface, there is the idea of straddling two different world, and crossing between my Asian culture and American society on a daily basis. It involves molding my Chinese traditions to fit into the mold of white societal expectations in order to be accepted in school. • 7. Slavery in Ancient Greece and Rome Essay Slavery was the practice of taking a human being and making them do the work of another by force. This was practiced through out the ancient world and especially in Rome and Greece. Slaves were nothing more than just property to the ancient peoples. They didn t have the rights of citizens nor were they able to do what they want in most cases. Slaves had many tasks that they had to do, many of which included taking care of the masters house and kids, cooking and cleaning that house, herding the cattle for the farming families, being guards for some prisons, fighting for entertainment of the masses, and more common was sexual activities with the slaves. The owners could do with the slaves what they wished, be it sexual favors or they could beat them at will. Beating a slave though was not usually the best thing that an owner of slaves could do because they didn t want to damage their property. To get a slave to work hard wasn t that difficult most of the time, all the owner had to do was refrain from beating and instead be nice to them. In Rome some slaves were offered freedom if they met certain criteria of the owner. After earning their freedom they were given citizenship in the city. This gave the slaves a reason to work hard, something to look forward to. Although slaves worked mainly inside of the house there were owners who used them for other reasons also. Slaves are living tools this is Aristotle defining what slaves are, and this is what they were used as by everyone, inside the house and out of it. Almost everyone in the ancient world had a slave or two, the only exception was with the poorest families. There was even slaves that owned their own slaves, usually only one of the opposite sex though so that they could have some semblance of a family. Pliny, a governor of a Roman province wrote to emperor Trajan asking if he should use the slaves as guards in a local prison or use soldiers or to mix them both in there. Pliny obviously trusted his slaves enough if he was willing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. New Liberalism Essay New Liberalism Old liberalism, otherwise know as classical or Gladstonian liberalism was centred around the fundamental rights of the individual. It was an ideology that the state should have little to no intervention in people s lives and in the economy. It relied heavily upon the notion of laissez faire, and the Victorian mindset of self help. Thrift was one of these ideas. It was the theory that any family could support itself if that income was managed wisely, and a pension could be saved for. The key pillars of old liberalism was low taxes and low state intervention. This was because they believed that the people should be able to spend their money as they wised, and not be forced to send it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Towards the end of the century this was coming into question. Other European nations were industrialising and eating into Britain s profits. There was a thought among the British public that as long as the economy was growing, eventually prosperity would filter down to the lower classes. But as the economy began to shrink, according to Lee it eroded the attractions of industrial growth as a panacea for society s ills. Victorian notions were rapidly becoming out of date and viewed as wrong, not only economically, but morally as well. In London and York, studies showed that a third of people lived in poverty as a direct result of simply not having a large enough income to cover their basic needs, while thousands more lived in poverty due to inadequate education to manage there finances. Laissez faire was being proven to be out dated in Birmingham where the conservative mayor Joseph Chamberlain had shown that local government taking control for and organised public amenities and facilities could benefit the community as a whole. Not only did this destroy laissez faire, but also it was an attack by the Tories on Liberal values. In the 1880 s socialism was starting to gain ground as the lower classes saw that their situation was not increases, and at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Importance Of Informed Consent What is informed consent and when, why and how must the physician obtained this consent? From the Medicine Net they defined Informed Consent as The process by which a patient learns about the procedure, understands the purpose, benefits, and potential risks of a medical or surgical intervention, including clinical trails, and then agrees to receive the treatment or participate in the trial. Informed consent generally requires the patient or responsible party to sign a statement confirming that they understand the risks and benefits of the procedure or treatment. Informed consent needs to be obtained by the physician when a procedure with anesthesia is used, if the patient is undergoing any type of surgery, a procedure that is entering the body through the skin or through a body cavity, or if the patient is asked to be in a clinical research trial. This type of consent is necessary so the patient and the physician are both on the same page of the patient s understanding and willingness to participate in the procedure. It is also for the patient to know their right to stop the procedure before or during the procedure. It also informs the patient that if they do not want the procedure they have alternatives they can choose from. The American Medical Association describes the 8 steps on how to obtain Informed consent, as: The Physician informs participants about (1) the purpose of the procedure, expected duration and procedures; (2) their right to decline to participate and ... • 10. Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman... Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman Judith Grossman wrote an article concerning women s subjectivity in Arabian Nights. The article brought out many points to which I had never given thought. As I read the novel, I saw that women were considered evil and bad, but I didn t think much more of it. After reading Grossman s article I must say I agree with many of the thoughts expressed. She focuses on the fact that women are considered to be evil, but it is just because their true self has never had a chance to be free. Women are locked into this reciprocal cycle of deceit and unfaithfulness, only after being oppressed by their husbands or keepers, as in the case of the Jinnee and the maiden. Grossman s article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The maiden says, But I have lain under as many men as I ve desired, and this wretched jinnee doesn t realize that destiny cannot be averted or hindered by anything and that whatever a woman wants, she will get, no matter how much a man might try to prevent it.(11) It is easy to see that she is rebelling in her own way against the rules set forth by the jinnee and all of mankind. She has a deep hatred towards men, and she makes herself feel better by dominating strange men and threatening them with the loss of their lives. Although she cannot actually kill them her captor the jinnee, will without a second thought. Though she is dominated by the jinnee, she has a power over the men she finds. This evens out the balance of power a little between the jinnee and the maiden. Women are made out to be awful, horrible creatures from which men should take cover. In Arabian Nights there are many passages in which women are negatively portrayed. For example, This only proves that all women will make cuckolds out of their husbands when given the chance...No man in this world is safe from the malice of women! (6) This is only one of many blatant sexist remarks in this text. Grossman takes the stance in her article, ...but my focus is not on the solipsistic narrator it is on narration as a social act undertaken in a specified context of events.(113) To me this means that she is focusing on what character is doing the narration in the context ... • 12. The Pagan Origins of Christianity Essay The first part of this paper will explore the mystery religions, the reasons behind their popularity, and the Hellenistic world in which they grew that began with Alexander the Great. Next, their characteristics and connections first with Judaism and later with Christianity will be more deeply discussed. In the second part it will be shown that the mystery religions helped to clear the pathway for the Christianization of the Greco Roman world by men such as Paul the Apostle. Finally, the Emperor Constantine s role in this story will be mentioned, during whose reign the mystery religions declined and Christianity became the major religion of Europe and the near east. The paper will conclude with a brief speculation about the significance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After learning these mysteria, members were considered reborn or born again. Christianity in fact began along these lines of practice. Its most important ceremony, the Mass or Eucharist, in which the body and blood of Christ were symbolically eaten in the forms of bread and wine, was forbidden to all but a select few who had completed three levels of initiation. Most early Christians, whether of Jewish or Gentile origin, would have been familiar the concept of mysteria. Throughout the Mediterranean world, religious communities based on this idea of secret teachings thrived. Another common element in the mystery religions was their tendency to worship the divine on what we today would think of as a higher spiritual level than standard Greek and Roman religions did. The idea of a spiritual world as separate from the material world, first promoted by Plato, was fully adopted by the mystery religions and provided them with a basis for belief in life after death. Conversely, ancient Greco Roman religion and Judaism contained nothing that addressed this new concept of separate worlds. Traditional public worship in both Jewish and Gentile communities generally emphasized the material world in its requests for good crops, healthy children and success in business. • 13. Physics of Rainbows Essay When the Sun s light is refracted on passing through tiny rain droplets falling in the air a Rainbow is formed. Rainbows only need light from the sun or the moon and a large amount of spherical raindrops to form in the atmosphere. The rainbows can be compared to mini prisms. The light is refracted ( bending of light as it passes from one medium to another ) and it causes different wavelengths (or colors) of the white light to separate. Whether these wavelengths of light will pass through the raindrop or reflect depends on the angle the light strikes the back of the raindrop. If a wavelength of the light strikes the back of the raindrop at an angle less than 48 degree relative to the normal then the light will pass through the raindrop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact a rainbow is made up of the entire spectrum of colors from red to violet and beyond to the ultraviolet and infrared sections of the spectrum, which the eye is not capable of detecting. The speed of the wavelength of white light before it hits the raindrop determines the color a raindrop will emit. If the wavelength of white light travels at a slow speed, then the wavelength of light will bend more when it enters the raindrop. Wavelength of the color violet is bent the most when it enters the raindrop. While red light is bent the least when it enters the raindrop. The violet light will emerge from the raindrop at an angle of 40 degrees relative to the observer s line of sight. While red light will emerge at an angle of 42 degrees. Thus, violet light has the shortest wavelength. Red, being at the opposite edge, has the longest wavelength. Moving from the violet edge through the colors to red at the opposite edge the wavelength gets longer. Other colors of the spectrum can be seen in between 40 and 42 degrees relative to the observer s line of sight. It is important to note that only one color of light is emitted from each raindrop. A large amount of raindrops produce a wide spectrum of colors of a rainbow. There are certain colors which cannot be seen by the eye. This is why the observer sees four to five solid colors of a rainbow. The color bands of a rainbow always have the same order since the shorter wavelengths of light are refracted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The increasing of atmospheric CO2 concentration is the main reason for climate change phenomenon (IPCC Climate Change, 2007). As a result for increased atmospheric CO2, global surface temperatures are predicted to increase between 1.8 and 3.6 1C by the year 2100 (IPCC Climate Change, 2007). The increased temperature, will lead to soil water content decrease in some areas (Le Houerou, 1996). Agriculture is one of the most important sector for the survival of human life is highly affected by climate change (Deryng et al., 2014). Lobell and Field (2007), demonstrated a decrease in maize yields 8.3 % per 1 C rise, which improve the harmful effects of temperatures increases. Also the rising temperatures increase the rate of phenological development, leading to a smaller plant and less productivity due to life cycle shortage. In fact abiotic and biotic stress is a serious condition causing major problem for crop productivity. About 20 % of cultivable and at least half of irrigated lands around the world are severely affected by environmental stresses. However, in these conditions, there are plant populations successfully adapted and evolutionarily different in their strategy of stress tolerance (Choudhary et al., 2016). One of the most vulnerable stages of plant development to temperature stress is the pollination phase because of pollen s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Personality Characteristics Of Personality The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a person s everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person s characteristics are unique and come together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is subjective to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that a person can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea of a pre determined personality that is shaped by biology and life events, called determinism (Skinner, 1957). Determinism is championed by Sigmund Freud in his psychodynamic theory (Freud, 1912), although it will not be the focus of this essay, despite Freud s theories constituting as part of the main crux of the latter part. The earth s atmosphere is supposed to trap heat or the earth would freeze overnight and it would be uninhabitable. The problem is all the extra chemicals that we are putting up in the atmosphere like methane and co2. When we put all these chemicals in the air they build up in the atmosphere and trap even more heat than is needed resulting in rising temperatures. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even with though these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in common, their main character was a Byronic hero. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because each have a troubled backstory, each are anti heroes, both are criminals, have high intelligence and useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up everyday. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousands dollars. Then to make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday. Byronic heroes typically have a troubled or empathetic backstory like Hamlet and Walter do. Their experiences affected them both deeply enough that their personas would change throughout the course of their stories and lead them to become more of a dark hero and then more villain like. Hamlet started to go down a spiral of madness whilst debating on whether or not to commit suicide while Walter went down his own spiral of slowly losing himself, his family, and his morals. Since a Byronic hero is a the ultimate antihero, one of the qualifications to be a Byronic hero is to be an antihero. They are typically realists rather than idealists. • 30. Lab Report On Amylase Abstract Amylase is an enzyme that is located in human saliva. It is solely accountable for breaking down starch as a way to start the breakdown of food and is one of the first steps of digestion. The time at which the enzyme starts the chemical reaction with starch is called the reaction rate. In order to study how amylase works against starch, this experiment consisted of two tests; each testing a different condition of amylase. The first test was to simply study the reaction between saliva and amylase and note the reaction rates. The second test was to see if increasing the pH would decrease the reaction rate or halt it all together. Saliva was collected, diluted, and tested for reactions between starch and amylase. Another sample of saliva was collected, diluted, and had its pH increased and tested for reaction rate. The findings after the experiment was conducted aligned with the original hypothesis. The change in pH did show a significant decrease in the reaction rate. Introduction Proteins are one of the key biomolecules that make up the human body and facilitate different processes and reactions in the body (Silverthorn, 2016). The general attitude of first world powers towards other civilisations during imperialism was the need to bring civilisation to these people, whether they liked it or not. ... The poem is called Saddest Poem written by Pablo Neruda who is as I understood one of the most famous Latinos poet. This poem was translated to English, even though it didn t lose its original structure. No one can argue about the main idea of this poem that it s a sad poem and we can clearly see that from the title. Neruda uses many of the poetry techniques to complete a perfect picture ending with this poem. Sitting, metaphor, sounds, and imagery all were the elements that leaded to this nice piece of literature. When I read this poem, I felt that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then he moved to describe her and their relationship she loved me, sometimes I loved her. (9) Then he compared losing her with to hear the immense night, more immense without her. The communication among us was lacking acknowledgement, appreciation and apologizing. The other requirement of being part of a high achieving group was to display theatre skills in driving my points and also the group s idea as a whole. My introvert or shy attitude did not help me in being a good presenter during the core meetings of our groups. Due to the lack of impressive presentation and theatre skills, my confidence was going lower with every opportunity to present our ideas. After the meetings I was left with the feeling of letting down myself and the entire group who have trusted me to showcase the group s achievements. While I was working for my previous company, once there was a teambuilding session in which me and fellow colleagues were divided into groups and were handed out specific tasks such as building a gingerbread house. Our team had some of the best employees in my division and I naturally expected us to win the teambuilding event. To everybody s surprise we could never got started on the activity. It was not clear then why we failed to even kick start the teambuilding activity. During this course I started to understand the reason behind our failure. It was due to lack of an able leadership. Financial crises are often the product of asset and credit booms that eventually turn into busts. This booms can be identify in time but no one still has an answer of why they are allowed to continue, knowing that can rapidly become unsustainable and turn into busts or crunches. The subprime crisis: origins and evolutionThe subprime crisis is an over studied topic studied by a vast number of thinkers trying to establish the cause and to find the culpable for the greatest economic collapse since great depression. Trying to point out a single cause as the root of the crisis is however impossible as our current situation is the results of a set of political, economic and social policies. A lot of literature is dedicated to the subprime crises subject, all finding guilt in the management and moral hazard existent in the American economy. It all started on the American continent and soon became viral thru all the world s economies. The interdependence of countries created a wave effect, so all the symptoms of the crises could be seen in different time periods, in the whole world. The growths catches a faster pace with the help of financial instruments that were created to provide liquidity to the markets. Does this network need a core layer? What devices would operate at the core layer? The core layer is considered the backbone of the network and includes the high end switches and high speed cables such as fiber cables. This layer of the network does not route traffic at the LAN. In addition, no packet manipulation is done by devices in this layer. Rather, this layer is concerned with speed and ensures reliable delivery of packets. 7. Is redundancy required at any layer of this network? If it is, where and how would this redundancy be added to the network? What device or devices would be used to make this network redundant? A goal of redundant topologies is to eliminate network down time caused by a single point of failure. All networks need redundancy for enhanced reliability. Network reliability is achieved through reliable equipment and network designs that are tolerant to failures and faults. Networks should be designed to reconverge rapidly so that the fault is bypassed. In a redundant mesh topology network devices are connected with many redundant interconnections between network nodes. In a true mesh topology every node has a connection to every other node in the network. A mesh network with redundant connections is an example of a redundant topology. The level of redundancy can be measured by network connectivity. On a redundantly connected network if a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your body has an internal clock that helps regulate when you sleep and wake up. This clock is called sleep wake homeostasis. Homeostasis is comprised of three parts. There is a receiver that relays incoming senses, a central system that interprets the senses, and an effector that acts on the information relayed by the central system. The body s internal clock induces sleep when one is awake for too long, so this experiment is specifically designed to find the method the body takes to induce sleep. De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas. This painting was created in France then it was moved to the one of the most respected museums of the Los Angeles county Museum of art. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in this painting and so is the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see all the light that illuminates Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that Mary Magdalen is thinking of something that is unknown to us. All of the objects in the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp, and lighting of the candle make up the unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be thinking as she meditates on the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art. Magdalen is an actual character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and gazing into a simple flame lamp (Louvre, de Musee Paris). This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the suffering of Jesus Christ. De La Tour is most known for depicting scenes from the bible and characters. They use self reports that are coded themselves or that the research will have the participants code, tons of different questionnaires that take time for the participants to do, and it is really not relevant for the new generations. With the studies that have been done, almost half of all first marriage still end in divorce. It looks like the system that we use to study and try to help curb this just isn t working, because of the measures that are used it just speak to the generation anymore. This study is different, it will use a video game as the measure to study the effects of communication on the satisfaction in a relationship. The video game doesn t take much time, and time is very important to this generation that is always on the go. It is also a lot more relevant for this generation of couples as well. This study will also be looking at specifically communication in a stressful situation, which the studies have not covered before. This is important because every couple as arguments and by studying this hopefully it will curb the amount of arguments in the relationship and help lower the first marriage divorce rates. This was a movement that had not just one but many faces that ranged from people as big as Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson to people like Jane Addams that accomplished so much. It was a movement so broad that it encompassed basically everyone and spoke not just to but for all those excluded from power. It also wasn t just one big movement but a conglomeration of them varying from social, to economic, to political. After the Gilded Age and the rapid start of Industrialization many Americans were concerned that urbanization as well as trusts and monopolies were taking over the nation. In theory the Progressive movement was a response to this as well as the breakdown of representative government, the exploitation of women and children, and the growth of financial and industrial concentration. Jane Addams particular role in the movement showed how it wasn t just the unhappy elite or middle class who wanted change but also the women, immigrants, blacks, and the poor. With the writing of her book Twenty Years at Hull House Addams wanted to share the beliefs and ideals that she had always nurtured and tried to accomplish. This was her belief in bringing all members of society into the scope of democracy and to reach a compromise that protected the rights of the individual while fulfilling the need of the nation as a whole. Taking a Look at Brazil The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition defines Culture as the shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and affective understanding that are learned through a process of socialization. These shared patterns identify the members of a culture group while also distinguishing those of another group. (Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition) In an article called Cultural Factor Highly Influences On Consumers Their Buying Behavior In Indian Context, the basic characteristics of culture are described: Culture has five basic characteristics: It is learned, shared, based on symbols, integrated, and dynamic. All cultures share these basic features. Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared. Culture is shared by a firmly large group of human beings living in organized societies and works as a linking force. Generally, common religion and language are the critical elements that largely help people share values, customs, norms and experiences. Culture is based on symbols.
