Similarities And Differences Between Rusingoryx And...
Q1 1 Briefly indicate what the article 1 is about:
In this article according to the scientist they have found many links between Rusingoryx and
hadrosaur dinosaurs. Palaeontologists have found skull of ancient wildebeest, hollow dome that makes
a crest on top of the animal s skull. Nasal dome is completely new structure for mammals.
Paleontologists say that a Pleistocene antelope with a bony nasal crest like that of some hadrosaur
species is a surprising example of what s called convergent evolution. (Strickland, Feb.4, 2016, para.
2). This convergent evolution can be explained by the similarities in the way Rusingoryx and
hadrosaurs lived. Such as Rusingoryx and hadrosaurs enjoyed very similar lifestyles: both grazed in

A subtle, but clear pattern emerged: Languages in hotter, more forested regions such as the tropics
tended to be sonorous, employing lower frequency sounds and using fewer distinct consonants,
whereas languages in colder, drier, more mountainous places were consonant heavy (Underwood,
Nov.4, 2015, para. 4).
They looked at the frequency of vowel and consonant and cross reference this against climate and
environmental condition.
Q2 1 Explain how the article 1 relates to anthropology:
The article compares and links the similarities between Rusingoryx and the hadrosaurs. Hadrosaurs
lived 65 million years ago and Rusingoryx lived 64.9 million years later. According to the scientist
this evolutionary convergence can be explain by the similarities between their lifestyle. Both
mammals are herbivorous.
The article refers to the concept of macro evolution that we learn in the lecture. Macro evolution
occurs over thousands and millions of years and refers to biological changes in the form of the
appearance of a new species (Cerri, 2016). It s basically introduction of a new species after long time
but it show some similarities with some other species. It s an evolution, which means continuous
change.
Researchers think that the animal s crest evolved from earlier relatives of Rusingoryx. The relative

Flexible Working Arrangementss
Why do we have flexible working arrangements, staff may require time off work due to illness and
may need to attend medical appointments on a regular basis. Job sharing is another way of introducing
flexible work agreements as some staff only want to work part time. Holding a meeting to negotiate
flexible work arrangements state all the important facts, the reason why you want to change your work
arrangements and possible solutions, it is important you be flexible with your employer and consider
other staff also. Flexible working arrangements can improve the ability of employers to attract skilled
and motivated employees, reduce stress levels and improve morale and commitment, reduce
absenteeism and staff turnover. There are legislations

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Budgeting
A budget is a financial plan reflecting the business strategy and represents a more structured way of
communicating it to the team . The process by which a budget is built and agreed within an
organisation is called budgeting process or budgeting cycle , that represents one of the most important
financial planning tools. This cycle always starts with a vision or a goal, based on which the approach
to be used is chosen. The next step is the elaboration of the budget itself by allocating the right
resources in the right place. It is very important to keep track of it (the sooner a variance is spotted, the
better, as more time is available to understand it). The last stage is the evaluation process which should
lead to future improvements . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walther, the above steps require a debate to determine the direction of the business. Reason why a
budgeting committee is created that includes senior level personnel of each unit of the organisation.
The members of this committee are involved throughout the budgeting process. They provide the
information relative to their own unit. The information is then compiled together and passed through
the organisation till an overall budget is obtained. The budgeting construction and agreement normally
follows the organisational chart. However, different organisations use different approaches. The two
basic ones are: Top down (Mandated budgets) or Bottom up (Participative

Food Insecurity Issues Essay
/2016 Franklinton, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio, has faced issues since its first
settlement and since, has had to deal with more. Often being referred to as The Bottoms because of its
location and lower socioeconomic status, it has not been able to keep up with the development of
Columbus. In the more recent years, great efforts have been put in motion to increase the quality and
quantity of life in Franklinton. We will explore the redevelopment of Franklinton and the issues it
faces with food insecurity.
The city of Columbus is a wonderful place, bustling with innovation but maintaining a healthy
population. The city runs in a very respectable fashion. Columbus is big enough to be a city, while
being small enough to allocate its resources and put plans in action. Although large, the city is
connected, business leaders and public officials know each other and collaborate to make change. The

Accessing healthy produce can be hard during different times and in Franklinton, it is almost always
an issue. The growing community gardens are providing people with a closer relationship to their food
which increases awareness and involvement. Interacting with food and understanding the process it
takes to bring it to a plate encourages good food utilization. The Franklinton community holds
gatherings involving people in food insecurity and raising awareness about related issues.
As the neighborhood of Franklinton faces its issues, its community flourishes and becomes a place
where food awareness is growing and food insecurity is decreasing. The development of this area is a
great advance and as it continues, the quality of life increases. People become happier and healthier as
they learn and grow. The neighborhood of Franklinton, which was often referred to as The Bottoms is

Coffee Consumption and Prostate Cancer Aggressiveness...
There has been always an indication that coffee could be related in preventing cancer risk. Therefore,
many studies were involved to check the accuracy of coffee and its effect on cancer especially prostate
cancer (CaP). According to the article Coffee Consumption and Prostate Cancer Aggressiveness
among African Caucasian American in a Population Based Study, there were two studies that
examined the effects of Coffee on cancer risk; Meta analysis and a report from the Health
Professionals follow up study (Arab, Su, Ang, Fontham, Bensen, Mohler, 2011). The meta analysis
indicated a protective relationship between coffee consumption and risk of CaP. The report from the

Race? Male membered should self identify and respond as either African American Black or
Caucasian American White.
According to the article, the study consisted of numerous nurses that controlled a series of structured
questionnaires regarding background characteristics, screening history, diet, and, physical activity. In
addition, two diagnostic tests Gleason Grade and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) were applied to
identify the level of aggressiveness of the cancer. For instance, the cases were ordered as follow; 1
equal high aggressive (Gleason sum ≥ 8, or PSA 20 ng/ml). 2 equal less aggressive (Gleason sum 7, or
PSA 10ng/ml), and 3 equal intermediate aggressive. Body Mass Index (BMI) was one of the major
indicators for this study and members were classified as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or
obese. In order to test for significant difference between races, chi square test was used for categorical
variables and student s t test was used for continuous variables, such as age and height. Wilcoxon rank

The Importance Of Direct Behavior Rating
Direct Behavior Rating Classroom Management
Ms. Nelson is a second grade teacher at ABC Elementary. Ms. Nelson was self referred as she was
concerned about her student s engagment. She was observed on 02/25/2016 using the Direct Behavior
Rating Classroom Management: external Rater Form (DBR CM ER) for 20 minutes. The DBR CM
ER involves the observer recording ratings in five categories: classroom structure, praise,
communication, enthusiasm, and rapport. During the beginning of the observation, Ms. Nelson s
students were seated on a carpet, and she was reading a story and discussing it with the students. After
the students completed their reading activity, they were split into stations. The students either went to
an independent math station, computerized reading station, guided reading station with the teacher, or
spelling station.
Classroom Structure
Ms. Nelson s classroom was arranged in a way that allowed students move without disruption. The
desks where in a u shape. She had a carpet in front of the smart board where the students appeared to
have assigned spots. A computer station was set up in the back of the classroom where Ms. Nelson

Theme Of The Movie Hugo
HUGO : AN INTERPLAY OF HUMANS AND MACHINES
APARNAA
Martin Scorsese s celebrated movie Hugo is widely considered to be a timely reminder on the need for
preserving the old movies. But in spite of being adapted from a children s novel, Hugo reveals layers
of hidden meaning within the story. One of the major themes recurring throughout the movie is the
relationship between humans and technology, or more specifically, humans and machines.Though
shown explicitly only in a single dream sequence, the theme of humans turning into machines and vice
versa is present throughout the movie.
The movie opens with the visual of a giant clockwork mechanism which morphs into the streets of
Paris. It is through the eyes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recurring image of turning gears and clocks in the film is noteworthy. The constant ticking of the
clocks, present throughout the movie, gives the viewer a very vivid awareness of time passing.Like
the drunken Uncle Claude tells Hugo, Time is everything. This is effectively portrayed by the plight of
Georges Melies (Ben Kingsley).Time has stolen everything from him, and only a broken shell of a
man is left in his place. He struggles to come in terms with the current times, where his life s work is
reduced to nothing but a pair of shoe heels.
The theme of the movie revolves around an extraordinary machine, the automaton. It functions as a
narrative device that propels the plot forward. When the grumpy old toyshop owner takes hold of Hugo
s book on the automaton, and later on, when Hugo fixes the automaton and it signs the name Georges
Melies, the story takes a pivotal turn. The automaton has an almost human presence as Hugo identifies
with it many a times. His quest is not only to fix the broken automaton, but also to fix his own broken

American Manufacturing and the U.S Economy Essay
For over half a century, American manufacturing has dominated the globe. During this period, many
great American businesses and corporations began. Companies like General
Motors, Levi, and Ford became widely known and promoted. American manufacturing became
synonymous with quality, greatness, and reliability. However, manufacturing in the U.S has started to
plummet as the economy has begun this recession. It may seem as if the country that used to make
everything is really on the edge of making virtually nothing. U.S. jobs in manufacturing have been
vanishing at a fast rate and unemployment percent is on the rise, but despite the vanishing jobs
Americans productivity is on the rise and Americans still lead the ... Show more content on

Even with the misfortune with unemployment, Americans still lead the world in manufacturing. But
there is a counterbalance to the drop in total employment, the dramatic rise in productivity. According
to the National Association of Manufacturers, over the past two decades manufacturing productivity
has grown by 94%, which is considerably faster than the rest of the U.S. business sector, where
productivity grew by 38% over the same time period.
Another concept that is brought up by the article is international trade and business. There are a
number of gains to be obtained from international trade, such as lower prices, greater choice, and a
variety of resources. Many of the millions of laid off workers in recent years ended up shifting into
lower salaried service jobs, while U.S. manufacturers relocated production facilities to low cost
countries. The U.S has established great economic trade connections with the rest of the world, and
that has lead to U.S. based plants shifting work over to foreign competitors, such as China, so that
they can have cheap labor. It is much cheaper to have workers overseas however there is the danger of
unemployment. The United States needs to protect the economy from imports, so sometimes a tariff is
applied. A tariff is a tax that is charged on imported goods.

Second Language Acquisition
Recent phonetic work on second language (L2) acquisition has focused on the influence of the native
language (L1) on L2 learning by providing phonetic interpretations of non native production and
perception. Researchers have suggested that the weight of a feature used in L2, but not in L1, may
create difficulties for L2 learners. A classic example of this problem is the difficulty that Japanese
listeners experience in distinguishing English /r/ and /l/ phonemes, which are both mapped to the
Japanese /l/ (McClelland et al., 1999). Several studies have also investigated whether native speakers
of a tone language have an advantage over natisve speakers of a non tone language in discriminating
or acquiring tones from a tone language with which they have no prior experience. For example,
Gottfried and Suiter (1997) found that adult native English speakers were less successful in learning
lexical tones to signal phonological contrast, as this feature is not used in English, than they were in
learning vowel quality in Mandarin. Also, Chinese speakers outperformed English speakers in their
ability to distinguish two Thai tones both before and after training (Wayland Guion, 2004). In
addition, Peng et al. (2010) investigated the influence of different tone inventories (Mandarin vs.
Cantonese) as well as tone language vs. non tone language experience (German vs. Chinese) on the
categorical perception of pitch contours in Mandarin syllables and non speech contexts (e.g., pure
tone).

Protein Milk Proteins
Protein
Types of Protein Milk proteins are extensively studied regarding their role in exercise training
adaptations (Hartman et al., 2007; Tang, Moore, Kujbida, Tarnopolsky, Phillips, 2009). Ingestion of
milk proteins following exercise is shown to accelerate muscle recovery, increase glycogen
replenishment, and improve protein balance in a positive manner that allow for increases in muscular
strength and hypertrophy (Cockburn, Stevenson, Hayes, Robson Ansley, Howatson, 2010; Hartman et
al., 2007; Tang et al., 2009; Wojcik, Walberg Rankin, Smith, Gwazdauskas, 2001). Milk proteins also
contain the greatest amount of leucine compared to plant based counterparts (L E Norton Wilson,
2009). There are two classes of milk proteins, whey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus suggesting that a fast acting protein such as whey is a more appropriate protein source than
casein when examining muscular adaptations in regard to supplementation.
Protein and Leucine There are 20 specific amino acids that are utilized to build proteins utilized in
tissue formation, cellular function, and growth (P. J. Atherton Smith, 2012; Fluck, 2012; Wu, 2009).
Of these 20 there are essential (EAA) and non essential (NEAA) based amino acids, those unable to
be synthesized and those able to be synthesized within the body respectively. Due to EAA s needing to
be introduced via diet, any decreased consumption of these amino acids would impair the body s
ability to properly translate any cellular proteins (Fluck, 2012). Any increase in plasma or myocellular
amino acids above fasting levels promotes, while transient, an increase in protein synthesis, and
reaches its peak roughly 2 hours following ingestion which allows for muscle to be receptive to the
anabolic effects of protein (Pasiakos M., 2012). The ability for a protein to aid in muscle mass
accretion is largely based on its profile of EAAs. Animal based proteins are considered complete
proteins as they contain all EAAs, while plant based proteins lack certain EAAs making them
incomplete. When consuming an isonitrogenous and isoenergetic serving of skim milk and soy milk
with 18 grams of protein, the skim milk was able to stimulate muscle protein synthesis to a greater
extent, 0.1%

Freud s Theory Of The Human Personality
Freud s theory of the human personality consisted of 3 parts, the Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id is the
inner child. Freud s Theory also separates the Id into two subcategories, Eros (the parent loving libido)
and Thanatos (the self preservation instinct), also known as the life and death instincts, respectively.
The Ego, or the I , is the self awareness part of the brain. This part takes into account reality and tries
to compromise between Id and the real world. The Superego, or the above I applies moral principles to
the Ego s solutions [McLeod, Id, Ego, Superego]. Many times this works, but sometimes these
systems of judgment fail. This applies not only to people, but also to societies, as represented in The
Crucible. The Id, as mentioned previously, is the need and want driven part of one s psyche. The girls
who were pretending to be ailed and bewitched are the Id of the society, acting primarily upon
Thanatos, their will to live and preserve their own lives. The power of the Id, combined with the Ego,
but lacking the Superego, can be a powerful force to recon with, especially in ones so young. This is
evident in the part of the play when Mary is testifying in court against the girls. At first Mary is trying
to persevere against them, MARY: They re sporting...! GIRLS: (Cutting her off.) They re sporting!
MARY: (Turning on them all, hysterically and stamping her feet.) Abby, stop it! GIRLS: (Stamping
their feet.) Abby, stop it! [Miller, 48] Eventually, her Id

For a successful firm, having a good research to realize the customers need is very important.
Qualitative research and quantitative research are the main method to collect information and data

If a company using qualitative research for collecting information from outside, they can identify

As usual in business, qualitative research can let them understand how their customer recognize a
marketing message, and capture the culture and similarly customers using to relate and define a
product, service of business. And the useful of getting qualitative research is, to provide enough
information to design quantitative study and explain findings that form a quantitative study (J).
But absolutely there is a time that qualitative research does not suitable to use. It does not expect
qualitative research to measure, count or offer statistical justification which is all the range and wide
question and information collected from the result with uncountable.
It cannot be a final result from qualitative research such as determine the final idea, survey, establish
the importance of specific people needs, thinking or satisfaction critical because it is only an opening

big amount of money and consume a long period of time for processing this research (H).

Essay on The Fly by Katherine Mansfield
The Fly Having read many pieces of literature through short stories, it is evident that each story has its
own unique use of symbolism. Diverse characters in each work of literature are used to demonstrate
these forms of symbolism. The boss and his inner conflict illustrate a great deal of symbolism in The
Fly by Katherine Mansfield. The boss s perception of the actions of the fly creates an interesting view
of the comparison of his father son, father fly relationship. Katherine Mansfield, a famous realist, who
uses concrete images, appeals to many readers because she incorporates her life into the stories she
writes. Much attention is paid to the central character, the boss and his life (Schoenberg). It is

He overwhelms his son by taking control of his future and planning out his life. The boss s plan for his
son is to take over the business which gives the son no other choices or opportunities concerning his
future. Ever since his birth, the boss has worked at building up his business for him; it had no other
meaning if it was not for the boy (Mansfield 508). It seems as though the physical action of the boss
smothering the fly is associated with the sufferings that his son has experienced. Both the boss s son
and the fly go through similar yet different forms of suffering throughout their lives. Interestingly,
while the fly is struggling to live, the boss utters, Come on, Look Sharp (Mansfield 509), just as he
would say to his suffering son. Both the fly and victims of wartime fighting (his son) are innocently
killed by cruel forces over which they have no control (Schoenberg). The antagonist is the character or
force that represents the opposition to the protagonist and is the source for conflict. Mr. Woodifield
plays the roll of the antagonist in The Fly . He is a former employee of the boss who comes by the
office to visit once a week. The two men usually talk, catch up, and enjoy each other s company. Mr.

Capitalism, Racism, Exploitation, And War
Capitalism, I assert is a domineering worldwide system that has allowed for the cultivation of racism,
exploitation and war to exceed through the economic and ideologies of capitalism. The emergence is
compassed through relations and mode of production and projected onto the superstructures of politics
and constructing mental production for accomplishing the aims of the system. The accomplishment
comes at ease through globalisation to expand ideas of labour theory value and division of labour and

related to the concept of a division of labour allows for specialisation as an intrinsic part of the

individual skills is the greatest potential for economic growth and he is interested in a free economic

With this categorisation of states and individuals there is a silent rupture of racism, and the
categorisation is placed through into the economic system. Third world countries are not poor because
they have lagged behind the transformation or the enlightenment values of the European state. Its due
to the colonial expansion, countries were integrated into European economic system as producers of
raw materials and serve as cheap labourers and through the tools of power and globalisation it is still

Teamwork Promotes And Establishes Effective Communications...
According to Kinlaw (1991), teamwork is the way in which people must work and cooperate together
in order to produce products or services that could not be produced by a single individual. To this end,
teams appear to have a synergy effect, which implies that the total outcome that is produced by the
team is by far more than the equivalent result which the sum of the team s part would have had. By
and large, the formation of groups is very useful for the organization and its members, because they
perform important tasks. Johnson, Kantner and Kikora (1990) support the rationale of forming groups
through the following arguments: 1. Individuals within the team know each other well, thus deploying
confidence and trust, which results in cooperation and support. 2. Teamwork promotes and establishes
effective communications channels within the members of the team. Daft (1996) considers the
formation of teams as critical and immense for the effectual elaboration of a task, since teams: 1.
Encourage and promote creativity and innovation. 2. Are more effective problem solving devices as
opposed to individuals. 3. Enhance the dedication and commitment needed to implement the decisions
4. Provide greater opportunities for interaction and 5. Increase the coherence within their members.

to understand borders one must look pass the physical boundaries. As a society we must be and make
ourselves more aware of the cultural identity, language, and community surrounding the Latino
American population. During the Mexican American War the border moved, but the people didn t.
History has shown us that no matter how thick the border might be Latino Americans have a strong
connection to their culture and roots; instead of assimilating, Mexicans live between two worlds. The
film, Ballad of Gregorio Cortez gave us a perspective of two cultures; Two cultures the Anglo and the
Mexican lived side by side in state of tension and fear . Cortez is running for his life as he heads north,
while the Anglo believe that because of his Mexican ethnicity, he would travel south to Mexico.
Throughout the film there were cultural tensions and misunderstandings; language plays an important
part of someone s identity, and for many Latino Americans Spanish is their first language. The Ballad
of Gregorio Cortez also shows us that language plays an important role, and can cause confusion
between two different groups. For example, Anglos refer to a male

Prison Reform Pros And Cons
Correctional reform will not happen until the profits are removed from the topic. The majority of
prisons, parole, and probation offices are run by privately owned companies. The prison has become
big business . There should be no profits in the corrections. Prisons have evolved into an extended
vacation without members of the opposite sex. But there have been cases of female guards having sex
with inmates. There should not be flat screens TVS or video games. They should be given the basic
tools of life and expected to produce their own living essentials. Prison is not supposed to be fun and
relaxing, it is supposed to be miserable to reinforce the idea that it s not a place you want to be.
Protective custody should not be offered to sex offenders and other members of society who would
become targeted in the general population. People argue that this violates their civil rights, but these
people were aware that their behavior could violate rights when they partook in the illegal activities.

Chemistry Coursework – Rates of Reaction Investigation
Introduction
In this investigation I am going to be investigating the reaction between marble chips and hydrochloric
acid, and to see what differences in the rate of this reaction arise when different concentrations of acid
are used. Below is the word equation for this reaction:
Calcium Carbonate + Hydrochloric Acid = Calcium Chloride + Carbon Dioxide + Water Below is the
fully balanced chemical equation for this reaction.
CaCo3 + HCl #61664; CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
Aim
The aim of this investigation is to find out whether the concentration of the acid affects the rate of
reaction between the acid and marble chips.

Anne Lamott s Significant Life Lessons In Bird By Bird
Life lessons are learned in many ways throughout life. What makes them unique is that they are
defining moments and are almost unforgettable once you have assimilated it into your life because
they can improve it greatly. Anne Lamott introduces many significant life lessons in Bird by Bird that
people should consider. These lessons such as being yourself, doing what makes you happy, or even
controlling the urge of perfectionism can aide a person to a better life. Someone being something they
are not can wither them away. It can lead them to a state of unhappiness not being able to express
themselves. Anne Lamott illustrates this when she says Risk being unliked (226). These three simple

The Characters Of Hawkeye And Uncas In The Last Of The...
This paper will be highlighting the characters of Hawkeye and Uncas from The Last of the Mohicans,
by James Fenimore Cooper. Showing how these two characters were changed by the war they became
a part of. Some of the growth in these men might be subtle, but there are definite changes you see by
the end of the story. In the beginning of the novel, Uncas is extremely reticent, and prefers to let his
actions speak for themselves. However, he has a strong moral compass and does not often stray from
the path that will help his companions, no matter the circumstances. Being one of the last two
Mohican Chiefs, he fights with valor against the Mingos and French, and is strongly devoted to his
father, Chingachgook and his companion Hawkeye. Uncas is an expert at hunting and tracking, and
these skills come in very handy when his love interest, Cora, and her sister Alice are taken captive by
Magua, a rival Indian who wants revenge. Uncas being enamored with Cora is one of the romantic
aspects in the novel, and one that, at the time, was quite controversial. Being that interracial marriages
were not common, and in some places was not allowed. Uncas role in early stages of their adventure
was to see to Cora and Alice. He attended their needs without complaint, and this shows the
compassionate side that until this point, was not seen in him. By the end of the novel, Uncas had a
major shift in how he was perceived and how he viewed himself. When it was revealed

Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up
One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen
monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector
weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based
on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy
by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the
performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvesting systems can be designed. The first one
will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and
directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of
the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the
worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester
will be integrated in the clothes of the worker.
As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including
walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide
viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices
including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors
and actuators. A significant impediment in the

Physical Effects Of Elder Abuse
Elder mistreatment involves any intentional or negligent act caused by a person that causes harm or
risks the harm of a defenseless adult. The abuse can occur at home or in long term care settings such
as nursing homes, adult family homes, and group homes. There are various types of elder
mistreatment, however physical abuse is reported more frequently. Physical abuse is purposely
causing pain and injury through slapping, hitting, and malnutrition. Neglect occurs when a person
refuses or fails to fulfill their obligations to an elder. Neglecting an elder can occur when their food,
medication, funds or medical care are withheld. The signs of abuse and neglect in an elder include

Costs and Benefits of Informal Care:
Informal care contributes to society since it saves the American health care system money.
Due to the unpaid family care that is provided by informal caregivers, less money is spent by
Medicare or Medicaid. Informal care also helps society since it helps control the costs of total long
term care. If informal caregivers did not provide their care, total long term costs would double since
the value of informal care exceeds the costs of paid home care.
The demands for informal care are also increasing due to the growth of the oldest old with chronic
illnesses, more women finding jobs outside of the home, more complex families that include older
relatives living with their adult children, and racial and class inequities. These households may not be
able to afford total long term care and then have to rely on informal caregivers. However, these
families then lack the knowledge they need and are unprepared when they are providing informal care.
They are not informed on the aging process or any sources available to their older

Common Themes In The House Of The Scorpions
In the novel House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, the memoir, Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey
Timmerman, and the short story The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, the common theme is that
a person is always a person, no matter their wealth, their skin color, or even their birth circumstances.
In the House of the Scorpions, an instance that shows this is when Matt finally listens to what all of
his friends have been telling him, about how he is not inferior to them. Another example that
accentuates the theme from Where Am I Wearing is where the reader learns about the terrible
conditions Bangladeshi workers have to suffer through. A final example of the theme in The
Scholarship Jacket is when Martha is denied the jacket because she s poor and Mexican. A common
theme similarly found in The House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, The Scholarship Jacket by
Martha Salinas, and Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman is that everyone is human, no matter
their financial status, ethnicity, not to mention circumstances of birth, and all deserve to be treated the
same. In the novel, The House of the Scorpions, an example of how the theme is aptly portrayed is
when Matt understands that he is not inferior to other humans because he is a clone. A quote from this
moment states, Matt had to swallow hard to keep the tears from rolling down his face. He wasn t alone
after all. With friends like these, he would triumph, as El Patron had triumphed over death and poverty

Theme Of Antixism In The Merchant Of Venice
The play, The Merchant of Venice, written by William Shakespeare thought to be written around 1596
7, is set in Venice and in Belmont. There are several examples of anti Semitism, anti Christianity and
human behaviour in extremis, throughout the play. This statement will be substantiated with the
following arguments; how the Christians treat Jews, mainly Shylock, and Shylock seeking a pound of
flesh from a Christian character. A variety of speeches from the characters will also add to these
arguments.
According to Dictionary.com, anti Semitism is the discrimination against or prejudice toward Jews,
(Dictionary.com, 2016). Conflict has existed between Christianity and Judaism since Biblical times,
(Katz, 1996). By law the Jews were obliged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lorenzo believes that Christianity is the only religion that is powerful enough to admit one into
heaven and therefore Lorenzo is predisposed against Shylock the Jew, when he says; If e er the Jew
her father come to heaven, It will be for his gentle daughter s sake (Shakespeare, 1597). Lorenzo is
implying that if Shylock is saved, it is only because of his daughter, Jessica, who converts from
Judaism to Christianity.
In Act III, scene i, Shylock says, Hath not a Jew eyes , If you prick us do we not bleed? (Shakespeare,
1597), he reminds the Christians that all people, even the Jews are human and he reasons that a Jew is
equipped with the same abilities and emotions as a Christian. Shylock s behaviour and desire for
revenge exposes the injustice and intolerance of the society in which he lives, (Gibson, 2005). Shylock
s speech, For sufferance is the badge of all our tribe (Shakespeare, 1597), indicates the prejudiced
treatment the Jews had to endure. Shylock and the other Jews are portrayed as victims of racism.
Portia also displays anti Semitic behaviour when Shylock has to give up his Jewish religion and
convert to Christianity as a punishment for wanting Antonio s flesh. (Balser,

Meaning And Meaning In Life
Life has no meaning if you don t have the urge to wake up the next morning to see the next day. Many
people live their lives unhappy since they have no purpose or meaning to fulfill or satisfy their needs.
Purpose to me is something to live for and something to look forward to in life. Without purpose and
meaning in life there is no point of living at all. Recently in the existentialism unit we ve been reading,
I learned that without a passion to live, one s life means nothing and is a waste of a soul. Based on the

an example of a person who I would like to become in life. For instance, she is a wonderful person
who can take on not only a job but also a role of being a mother to my annoying sister and me. No
matter the ups and downs, she always supports me and manages to get through her life at the same

reason why I want to do well in life. By being herself, I go to school and do my best so in the future so
I can live up to her and help her in the way she has helped me and brought me into this world. My

The Characteristics Of A Serial Killer And The Zodiac Killer
In this paper, I will describe who the Zodiac Killer was, but also how a serial killer is different from a
normal homicide suspect. In addition, I will explain if the Zodiac Killer had specific criteria when he
selected his victims and whether a forensic psychologist or criminal profiler provided input in this
case. Finally, I will express my thoughts on why the Zodiac Killer was never captured and what else,
if anything could have been done to help find the infamous Zodiac Killer.
In order to explain how a serial killer is different than a normal homicide is to first understand how a
serial killer operates. On December 20, 1968, in the sleepy town of Benecia, California the murders of
a teenage couple were discovered in an area called lover s lane off Lake Herman Road. The victims,
Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday, were shot while parked in their car around 11:10pm.
Investigators collected shell casings and other evidence from the scene, but after several months they
still did not have any witnesses or suspects. Then on July 4, 1969, a second young couple were
attacked by a gunman while in their car parked at Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo; about 10 miles
northwest of the Benecia murders. The female victim Darlene Ferrin died from her wounds, but
Michael Mageau who was shot in the leg, neck and jaw survived and was able to tell the police what
had occurred, along with a brief description of the gunman. Later, the gunman phoned the Vallejo

Gung-Ho Means “Work Together”

Gung Ho demonstrates a cross cultural relationship between the Americans and the Japanese people
working together towards the goal. In this movie, a Japanese car manufacturer company takes over an
American car manufacturing plant. The American workers were in conflict with the Japanese style of
management.
Situation
Hunt Stevenson takes the leadership role and becomes the liaison between the Japanese executive
team and the American workers. At first, the workers were working at their usual pace and did not
meet the productivity numbers as expected.
Before the arrival of the Japanese executives, the organization structure of the plant was Work

In the end, Hunt s leadership style proves effective. Hunt Stevenson s personality is aggressively
extraverted. He is a people pleaser, sometimes to the point of sacrificing everything else. At the start
of the film, he sets off for Japan promising to accomplish a job he has no idea how to do, simply
because he does not want to let anybody in Had and how the people of different cultural background
have to work towards their common goal by integrating each others work practices. A Japanese car
manufacturing company takes over a Detroit car plant and employ American workers who comes into
clash with the Japanese style of management. This results in some hilarious moments that makes the
movie great to watch. However, there are many innuendo messages that one can learn in the
difficulties involved in engaging people to change their work practices to keep up with new ways of
thinking and new technology. Sounds familiar?
The Japanese concept was imposed more than implemented, and in many cases it was dictated.
Implementation was usually top down and corporate driven, short circuiting mid level management in
between. In most cases, team was tossed around to support everything from re organization to
downsizing to a reason for firing someone (for not being a team player ).
Summary of the commentary:
The commentary s primary focus is on the principles of modern Japanese management, citing
examples of their application at real companies, both American and Japanese. It

College Is A Major Commitment Of Time And Money
College is a major commitment of time and money, but it s also a down payment on success. Earning a
college degree will help a person realize their goals in their career and life in general. It requires a lot
of hard work but it s work that will prepare a person for a challenging and rewarding career and a
more fruitful life. According to studies, college gradates earn significantly more money throughout
their lives than those that have settled for a high school diploma. According to a national report by the
Higher Education Executive Officers Association, high school graduates earn an average of almost
$30,000 per year. Bachelor s graduates earn an average of just over $50,000 per year. And those with a
higher level degree like master s, doctorate, and professional average at about $70,000 per year. This
reveals a significant earning gap over the course of a person s life. Jobs that require a bachelor s,
master s, doctoral or professional degrees tend to also provide more benefits. These benefits include
health care, retirement investment, travel and other perks. These kinds of benefits are rarely offered
for high school level jobs. A 2008 report produced by College Board showed that roughly 70 percent
of individuals with a four year college degree received health insurance from their employers while
less than 50 percent of employees with only a high school diploma received the same benefits. Aside

The Consequences Of Jutigment In Twelve Angry Men
In society, we have an obligation to our community to defend it by using judgment to determine a
person s innocence or guilt. It is a civic responsibility to make an informed decision that is determined
based on evidence to help come to a logical conclusion. This essay argues that judgment in Twelve
Angry Men is addressed by the jury who think rationally against a 16 year old kid facing the death
sentence.
It looks at the gender and ethnicity of the jury and suggests that the environment the jurors are placed
in forwards their own judgment on themselves, making judgment become an empathetic experience.
The placement of 12 men in a jury shows inconsistency towards female s input upon what judgment
should be made for the accused. Inserting 12 men together only evokes testosterone against one
another affecting their critical thinking and causing drama. For Juror, 7 judgment is a fast process and
is addressed in the drama as Rose (121) states that, 7th Juror, Listen, I ll tell you something. I m a little
sick of this whole thing already. All this yakkin s gettin us nowhere so I m going to break it up here. I
m changing my vote to not guilty. 11th Juror, What kind of man are you? You have sat here and voted
guilty with everyone else because there are some baseball tickets burning a hole in your pocket .

irony towards the relevance of importance. It is from the example above we see

a friendly manner. The program will also contain a different order of teaching a child to write the
alphabet and works can be saved. The program has a quiz section that assesses the learning of the

To help children to construct correct handwriting, there would seem to be a case for the use of ruled
writing spaces and assist them to follow the proper procedure of writing a specific character and

in the every letter of alphabet. Error messages, if used, need to be in a simple English language that
the children can easily understand. A different level of practicing is considered to be sure that children
will be able to take hold of the writing technique through gif images that shows how characters should
be constructed properly.
An erase function will also be available as a feature for the children to make them avoid
discouragement from scribbling out and overwriting. The children should see at the screen the
characters they intend to write and see the results produced after the program recognizes it and be able
to see the evaluation of their performance afterwards. Children should be able to understand what was
happening effectively. There will be a comment or message alert for every wrong input

Q1 1 Briefly indicate what the article 1 is about: In this article according to the scientist they have found many links between Rusingoryx and hadrosaur dinosaurs. Palaeontologists have found skull of ancient wildebeest, hollow dome that makes a crest on top of the animal s skull. Nasal dome is completely new structure for mammals. During this period, many great American businesses and corporations began. Companies like General Motors, Levi, and Ford became widely known and promoted. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, over the past two decades manufacturing productivity has grown by 94%, which is considerably faster than the rest of the U.S. business sector, where productivity grew by 38% over the same time period. Another concept that is brought up by the article is international trade and business. There are a number of gains to be obtained from international trade, such as lower prices, greater choice, and a variety of resources. Many of the millions of laid off workers in recent years ended up shifting into lower salaried service jobs, while U.S. manufacturers relocated production facilities to low cost countries. The U.S has established great economic trade connections with the rest of the world, and that has lead to U.S. based plants shifting work over to foreign competitors, such as China, so that they can have cheap labor. • 10. Second Language Acquisition Recent phonetic work on second language (L2) acquisition has focused on the influence of the native language (L1) on L2 learning by providing phonetic interpretations of non native production and perception. Researchers have suggested that the weight of a feature used in L2, but not in L1, may create difficulties for L2 learners. A classic example of this problem is the difficulty that Japanese listeners experience in distinguishing English /r/ and /l/ phonemes, which are both mapped to the Japanese /l/ (McClelland et al., 1999). Several studies have also investigated whether native speakers of a tone language have an advantage over natisve speakers of a non tone language in discriminating or acquiring tones from a tone language with which they have no prior experience. For example, Gottfried and Suiter (1997) found that adult native English speakers were less successful in learning lexical tones to signal phonological contrast, as this feature is not used in English, than they were in learning vowel quality in Mandarin. Also, Chinese speakers outperformed English speakers in their ability to distinguish two Thai tones both before and after training (Wayland Guion, 2004). In addition, Peng et al. (2010) investigated the influence of different tone inventories (Mandarin vs. Cantonese) as well as tone language vs. non tone language experience (German vs. Chinese) on the categorical perception of pitch contours in Mandarin syllables and non speech contexts (e.g., pure tone). ... Thus suggesting that a fast acting protein such as whey is a more appropriate protein source than casein when examining muscular adaptations in regard to supplementation. Protein and Leucine There are 20 specific amino acids that are utilized to build proteins utilized in tissue formation, cellular function, and growth (P. J. Atherton Smith, 2012; Fluck, 2012; Wu, 2009). Of these 20 there are essential (EAA) and non essential (NEAA) based amino acids, those unable to be synthesized and those able to be synthesized within the body respectively. Due to EAA s needing to be introduced via diet, any decreased consumption of these amino acids would impair the body s ability to properly translate any cellular proteins (Fluck, 2012). Any increase in plasma or myocellular amino acids above fasting levels promotes, while transient, an increase in protein synthesis, and reaches its peak roughly 2 hours following ingestion which allows for muscle to be receptive to the anabolic effects of protein (Pasiakos M., 2012). The ability for a protein to aid in muscle mass accretion is largely based on its profile of EAAs. Animal based proteins are considered complete proteins as they contain all EAAs, while plant based proteins lack certain EAAs making them incomplete. • 12. Freud s Theory Of The Human Personality Freud s theory of the human personality consisted of 3 parts, the Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id is the inner child. Freud s Theory also separates the Id into two subcategories, Eros (the parent loving libido) and Thanatos (the self preservation instinct), also known as the life and death instincts, respectively. The Ego, or the I , is the self awareness part of the brain. This part takes into account reality and tries to compromise between Id and the real world. The Superego, or the above I applies moral principles to the Ego s solutions [McLeod, Id, Ego, Superego]. Many times this works, but sometimes these systems of judgment fail. This applies not only to people, but also to societies, as represented in The Crucible. The Id, as mentioned previously, is the need and want driven part of one s psyche. The girls who were pretending to be ailed and bewitched are the Id of the society, acting primarily upon Thanatos, their will to live and preserve their own lives. The power of the Id, combined with the Ego, but lacking the Superego, can be a powerful force to recon with, especially in ones so young. This is evident in the part of the play when Mary is testifying in court against the girls. At first Mary is trying to persevere against them, MARY: They re sporting...! GIRLS: (Cutting her off.) According to Kinlaw (1991), teamwork is the way in which people must work and cooperate together in order to produce products or services that could not be produced by a single individual. To this end, teams appear to have a synergy effect, which implies that the total outcome that is produced by the team is by far more than the equivalent result which the sum of the team s part would have had. By and large, the formation of groups is very useful for the organization and its members, because they perform important tasks. Johnson, Kantner and Kikora (1990) support the rationale of forming groups through the following arguments: 1. Individuals within the team know each other well, thus deploying confidence and trust, which results in cooperation and support. 2. • 26. The Characters Of Hawkeye And Uncas In The Last Of The... This paper will be highlighting the characters of Hawkeye and Uncas from The Last of the Mohicans, by James Fenimore Cooper. Showing how these two characters were changed by the war they became a part of. Some of the growth in these men might be subtle, but there are definite changes you see by the end of the story. In the beginning of the novel, Uncas is extremely reticent, and prefers to let his actions speak for themselves. However, he has a strong moral compass and does not often stray from the path that will help his companions, no matter the circumstances. Being one of the last two Mohican Chiefs, he fights with valor against the Mingos and French, and is strongly devoted to his father, Chingachgook and his companion Hawkeye. Uncas is an expert at hunting and tracking, and these skills come in very handy when his love interest, Cora, and her sister Alice are taken captive by Magua, a rival Indian who wants revenge. Uncas being enamored with Cora is one of the romantic aspects in the novel, and one that, at the time, was quite controversial. Being that interracial marriages were not common, and in some places was not allowed. Uncas role in early stages of their adventure was to see to Cora and Alice. He attended their needs without complaint, and this shows the compassionate side that until this point, was not seen in him. By the end of the novel, Uncas had a major shift in how he was perceived and how he viewed himself. When it was revealed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvesting systems can be designed. The first one will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester will be integrated in the clothes of the worker. As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors and actuators. If informal caregivers did not provide their care, total long term costs would double since the value of informal care exceeds the costs of paid home care. The demands for informal care are also increasing due to the growth of the oldest old with chronic illnesses, more women finding jobs outside of the home, more complex families that include older relatives living with their adult children, and racial and class inequities. • 30. Common Themes In The House Of The Scorpions In the novel House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, the memoir, Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman, and the short story The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, the common theme is that a person is always a person, no matter their wealth, their skin color, or even their birth circumstances. In the House of the Scorpions, an instance that shows this is when Matt finally listens to what all of his friends have been telling him, about how he is not inferior to them. Another example that accentuates the theme from Where Am I Wearing is where the reader learns about the terrible conditions Bangladeshi workers have to suffer through. A final example of the theme in The Scholarship Jacket is when Martha is denied the jacket because she s poor and Mexican. A common theme similarly found in The House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, and Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman is that everyone is human, no matter their financial status, ethnicity, not to mention circumstances of birth, and all deserve to be treated the same. In the novel, The House of the Scorpions, an example of how the theme is aptly portrayed is when Matt understands that he is not inferior to other humans because he is a clone. A quote from this moment states, Matt had to swallow hard to keep the tears from rolling down his face. He wasn t alone after all. There are several examples of anti Semitism, anti Christianity and human behaviour in extremis, throughout the play. This statement will be substantiated with the following arguments; how the Christians treat Jews, mainly Shylock, and Shylock seeking a pound of flesh from a Christian character. A variety of speeches from the characters will also add to these arguments. According to Dictionary.com, anti Semitism is the discrimination against or prejudice toward Jews, (Dictionary.com, 2016). Lorenzo is implying that if Shylock is saved, it is only because of his daughter, Jessica, who converts from Judaism to Christianity. In Act III, scene i, Shylock says, Hath not a Jew eyes , If you prick us do we not bleed? Shylock s behaviour and desire for revenge exposes the injustice and intolerance of the society in which he lives, (Gibson, 2005). Shylock s speech, For sufferance is the badge of all our tribe (Shakespeare, 1597), indicates the prejudiced treatment the Jews had to endure. Earning a college degree will help a person realize their goals in their career and life in general. It requires a lot of hard work but it s work that will prepare a person for a challenging and rewarding career and a more fruitful life. According to studies, college gradates earn significantly more money throughout their lives than those that have settled for a high school diploma. According to a national report by the Higher Education Executive Officers Association, high school graduates earn an average of almost $30,000 per year. Bachelor s graduates earn an average of just over $50,000 per year. And those with a higher level degree like master s, doctorate, and professional average at about $70,000 per year. This reveals a significant earning gap over the course of a person s life. Jobs that require a bachelor s, master s, doctoral or professional degrees tend to also provide more benefits. These benefits include health care, retirement investment, travel and other perks. These kinds of benefits are rarely offered for high school level jobs. A 2008 report produced by College Board showed that roughly 70 percent of individuals with a four year college degree received health insurance from their employers while less than 50 percent of employees with only a high school diploma received the same benefits. It is a civic responsibility to make an informed decision that is determined based on evidence to help come to a logical conclusion. This essay argues that judgment in Twelve Angry Men is addressed by the jury who think rationally against a 16 year old kid facing the death sentence. It looks at the gender and ethnicity of the jury and suggests that the environment the jurors are placed in forwards their own judgment on themselves, making judgment become an empathetic experience. The placement of 12 men in a jury shows inconsistency towards female s input upon what judgment should be made for the accused. Inserting 12 men together only evokes testosterone against one another affecting their critical thinking and causing drama.
