Ronald Legacy Of Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan is known for many things; however, he is most often recognized for his presidency.
Not only was he a president, he was also a former athlete, Hollywood actor, and devoted husband and
father. Ronald Reagan was one of the most influential and respected men of his time, known for his
traditional morals, values, and beliefs that make him one of the best presidents that America has ever
seen.
Although Ronald Reagan eventually came to lead a glamorous lifestyle, his beginnings were much
more humble. Reagan s life as a child was difficult; his family was struggling in the Depression, and
they had to move many times in order to keep up his father s business. Ronald Reagan was born in
Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911 ( Ronald ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ronald was a decent student throughout elementary and high school. He had a severe case of
nearsightedness when he was young. He said that he often relied on his acting to help him by
pretending his way through lessons to achieve good grades ( Ronald Reagan ). He graduated high
school in his hometown of Dixon, Illinois in 1928 ( Ronald Reagan: Life in Brief ). Reagan s family
and early life experiences would help to shape the rest of his life, including his college education and
extracurricular activities.
Reagan s education and early careers played a huge part in determining where he would go in life after
college. He majored in economics at Eureka College in his home state of Illinois, and his
extracurriculars included journalism, drama, and sports like football, swimming, and track ( Ronald
Reagan: Life in Brief ). He helped with the school s newspaper and student senate. He was even in a
fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon (Skinner 14). However, Reagan s family was poor, so he worked many
jobs, such as washing dishes and lifeguarding, to help pay for his tuition and he sent some money
home to his parents as well ( Ronald Reagan: Life in Brief ). He would be the first member of his
family to receive a higher education. Reagan said that during his time at Eureka College, he loved
three things: drama, politics, and sports (Skinner 13). After Reagan became a popular radio sports
announcer by landing a job in Des Moines, Iowa, he

The Importance Of Temperature Control In The Human Body
Temperature control is the body s natural way of warming and cooling its self, allowing it to stay at
one particular temperature (37oC or 98oF) Receptors in the skin detect changes in the external
temperature. They pass this information to the processing centre in the brain Hypothalamus.
Hypothalamus is a processing centre in the brain that controls body temperature and is in charge of
sending out signals to other conductors. It does this by triggering curtain mechanism such as goose
bumps, sweet gland, shivering and automatic responses i.e taking off or putting on clothing when hot
and cold. These automatic mechanism helps the body maintain and control its preferred temperature,
this helps keep the organs, enzymes and cells working at a good speed keeping you healthy and stable.
Temperature regulation is a vital function in our body that without it our body won t be able to
function and we will die. The temperature regulation of the human body has many ways of cooling
and heating. The hormones from the hypothalamus govern the physiologic functions such as thirst,
hunger, sleep, mood and temperature regulation and a lot more. If one function breaks down they all
will suffer causing massive health issues and even death. Thermoregulatory is a process that allows
your body to maintain its core internal temperature. All thermoregulation mechanisms are designed to
return your body to homeostasis (the state of equilibrium). When the external temperature is to hot the

The Silent Killer Research Paper
The Silent Killer No high school student should be in a coffin instead of a cap and gown. 1 Ohio
school, 4 bullied teens dead by own hand is the news headline when 4 students from Mentor, Ohio
take their own lives in 2010. Sladjana Vidovic was buried in the dress she planned to wear to prom
after hanging herself from her bedroom window. At her wake, the family watched as the girls who
tormented Sladjana approached the casket and laughed. Eric Mohat, the alleged class clown, shot
himself in the head just two weeks before his trip to Hawaii with his school choir. Just three weeks
later, Eric s friend Meredith Rezak took her own life in the same manner. Jennifer Eyring died from an
overdose on her mother s anti depressant. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, the same thing goes for a law. If a law is created but not continuously enforced, it is essentially
useless as well. Ohio s law requires schools to write their own bullying policies, but that s just about
as far as it goes. The state has no way of knowing if these policies are carried out on a day to day basis
because they simply don t bother to check. Governor John Kasich recently signed the Jessica Logan
Act into law which rewrites Ohio s anti bullying and harassment law to add cyberbullying, but still it
does little to enforce schools to carry out these policies. When bullying leads to someone commenting
suicide, that should be enough of an indicator that the current laws and policies are not effective and
change must happen and fast. These enforcements of Ohio s laws are ineffective and, thus, leave the
law virtually powerless. Students continue to bully other students because they see no real
repercussions. But it does not always have to be this way. When a school official calls a student into
their office and gives them nothing but a tongue lashing and a slap on the wrist or an occasional after
school detention, the only thing being enforced into the mind of the bully and the victim is that
bullying in their school is somewhat acceptable. This permissive attitude towards bullying must be
stopped. Bullies must be held

Introducing: Moi (Me)!
My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends
It gives a lovely light.
My life is a journey of discovery, traveled in repeating cycles of dreams and mindfulness, joy and
sadness, hope and despair it has been a series of stories, some bright and some dark, yet all filled with
interesting people, places, things, and ideas. Sometimes I walk with others, sometimes alone. At times,
I ve become lost along the way so lost I d forgotten who I really am, but sometimes the path to
renewal and reawakening can be beautiful, wondrous, and full of surprises.
Who am I? I m many things, and as I travel along my life s journey of discovery I m able to add to this
ever growing list of the words I use to describe who I think I am (and being a scholar of letters and a
former librarian, I ve arranged these traits alphabetically and, of course, not in any order of importance

Research Paper On Marching Band
Marching Band: The Struggle is Real What comes to mind when someone mentions marching band?
Is it the music, uniforms, or the movements? Marching band is the sport in which musicians play
while they march on a field to make shapes, but it s not as easy as it looks? They have to practice a lot,
even during the summer; some practices are even 12 hours long. Even through all of this it is a great
sport to take part in. This year was my first year in marching band and it was hard! I had to go through
a lot of different struggles. Before school even started this year I came to school Monday through
Friday for two weeks to learn how to be in marching band. The first week we practiced from 8 to 6
and during the second week we practiced from 8 to 8. That is a 12 hour practice. At practices we
would start with stretches then start our conditioning. That is where we would walk for one minute,
jog for 45 seconds then sprint for 15 seconds: repeat. We did this for 10 minutes. After we conditioned
we would have a water break. If you join marching band, you start to understand why people always
say to stay hydrated because it can cause some serious problems. Usually during the water breaks
Abby, Jema, Corbin and me would talk all kinds of stuff from Corbin s leg hair to bras and food. Sadly
our water breaks aren t very long. We start practicing our marching and the basics of playing while
moving at a fast tempo. We do this by listening to music through the speaker. By the time we are

Persuasive Essay On Fukushima
Fukushima Possibly Dwarfed by Deliberate Nuclear Dumping by U.S., Europe, and Soviets
The most egregious facet of the ongoing fiasco that is the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident is
widely accepted to be the intentional release of hundreds of tons of radioactive water into the oceans
surrounding the reactors. In terms of total radioactivity released into the environment, Fukushima has
already surpassed the Chernobyl incident of the 1980s, that Soviet sized lead balloon (plutonium
balloon?), which is the only other Level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale. But another
seemingly forgotten relic of the Cold War could pose an even greater nuclear threat to our oceans,
although it has yet to receive the same level of scientific and political scrutiny as these two accidental
events.
The end of World War 2 also marked the beginning of the Nuclear Age. And immediately, military

Nevertheless, the public research concerning the Fukushima disaster and its fallout should also apply
to these prior cases.
Several research groups have shown that the radioactivity from Fukushima has already had deleterious
effects on fish such as tuna all the way across the Pacific, on the west coast of North America. A recent
study in the respected Journal of Ornithology clearly showed a link between the rising radioactivity
from Fukushima and a significant recent drop in the abundance and diversity of birds in the region.
However, given government disquietude regarding the subject, little to no research has explored the
effects of intentionally dumped radioactive waste in our oceans. It is only to be seen whether
Fukushima is indeed the largest disaster, or whether the intentional dumping of waste in our oceans is,
in fact, the silent

Nursing and The Organizational Culture of Human Resource...
Organizational culture can play a very important role in any corporation s success. As we learn more
about how to make a company more successful through effective management of Human Resource,
we are learning of the value of people, as a whole, and how they contribute to the success or failure of
an organization. That s even more so true with in healthcare organizations. Nurses play a pivotal role
in the health care profession and make up the majority of healthcare workers in a hospital setting.
However, there is a nursing shortage globally that is expected to increase as nurses from the baby
boom era are set to retire. This is where human resource management and organizational culture come
into play. There have been prior studies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article will discuss organizational culture as it relates to the nursing profession and healthcare as
a whole.
II. Literature Review
Culture, as defined by Florea, Goldbach, Goldbach (2011), is essential, as it affects service quality,
organizational productivity, and financial results. This occurs even more so in a hospital setting, an
area in which cultures vary within the healthcare providers and their patients. The literature on
organizational culture and its impact on nurses and the healthcare system are increasing in frequency
due to the increase in cultural variety noted in healthcare organizations. According to the article,
Improving Hospital Performance through Organizational Culture (2011), many prior researchers
believed that organizational culture had potential effects on employee motivation and behavior. They
believed that it affected employees productivity, performance, commitment, self confidence and
ethical behavior and many have tested the validity of this theory by researching and studying the
organizational cultures within several industries. Prior research has showed that there is a link between
excellent cultural organization and overall employee performance. Chee, Kamal, Wingender (2011)
decided to conduct a study of their own to determine how organizational culture

Descriptive Essay On Drinking In School
Morning Routine Beep, beep, beep. Once I have heard that for the third time I finally drag myself out
of bed, and when I do, there is a flurry of events that happen before I get myself to school. The events
that take place on a day to day basis are showering, getting dressed, fixing my hair, eating breakfast,
doing leftover homework, and brushing my teeth. Mentioned above, the first thing I do after getting
out of bed is take a shower. The right way to take a shower is with lukewarm or cold water because
scalding water is bad for your skin and it also hurts. After I ve gotten in the shower, I wet my hair
down, and then get a quarter sized amount of shampoo. From there, I lightly rub my hands together for
five seconds; then, I gently scrub my scalp with shampoo covered hands. After I completely cover my
entire scalp in the shampoo lather, I tilt my head forward and rinse the shampoo out of my hair. After
the shampooing, I squeeze out a quarter sized amount of conditioner onto my hands. Then, I spread
the conditioner evenly in both of my hands, and then lightly work the conditioner all over my scalp,
like the shampoo. Although the label on conditioners say to leave it in for a few minutes, it doesn t
make a difference, so once I ve applied the conditioner to my entire scalp, I tilt my head forward and
rinse it out. Next, I grab the body wash bottle and squeeze out around a quarter sized amount and
scrub the upper half of my body, and then I squeeze a little less than a

Indentured Servants During The Colonial Era
Labor in colonial America was scarce. Explain the development of using indentured servants for labor
in the colonies. Below are some of the items you may include:
Indentured servants? beginning and decline
Changes, problems, and issues with indentured servant labor
Unintended consequences of using indentured servants
During the colonial era, was it better to be an indentured servant, or a slave? In current day, one could
argue that both are preposterous notions, however for the time, was either beneficial for anyone?
Looking back on how to country developed following this time, through the years of slavery in the
civil war, it may look like the only people to benefit from slavery or having an indentured servant, is
the owner. Despite how either has looked throughout many of the eras of this country, being an
indentured servant had very good potential for benefiting the servant. One may ask, how could anyone
benefit from being a servant? Even though this may seem like a very logical question, to those
involved in this life style, it all made sense. Let?s take a look at it from their point of view. When early
settlers were attempting to colonize here in the new land, the first successful colony wasn?t actually
established by the English government. In fact, it had been the successful venture of a privately owned
business, The Virginia Company of London. This company was actually comprised of investors with
seemingly good intentions. Their end goal was to extend

person s life and strengthen their autonomy through providing genuine empathy and a responsive and
welcoming environment. A counselor has the ethical obligation to empower individuals to manage and

Personal Narrative Research Paper
The Greatness of a Personal Narrative A personal narrative is a really good way to show the type of
person you are or to describe a situation you were in. It gives a person many chances to express
themselves, or to tell a story showing the audience some message. People could even use it as more of
a way to see your skill in writing. The problem with a personal narrative is that people could make
themselves sounds spectacular in certain aspects, all based of the writers word. When seeing a
personal narrative you are only getting a, more than likely, bias view of the given subject. Though, if
used honestly, it allows the audience to see the writer on another level. Personal narratives are the

They could write down a time that they had used their skills to help somebody in a difficult situation.
It gives them a chance to show the people hiring them that they can handle the given situation. Though
in some situations it could be used a different way. One way to look at a personal narrative is to not
even have an opinion on the topic. To look more at the skill of the writer. I find this to be the best way
to view a personal narrative. It will not give the writer a chance to over shadow themselves. Giving
the paper a proveable skill level of how qualified the person writing is. People could also use it to
show only one side of a story. For example CNN is a left wing news source, there is nothing wrong
with watching them, but when if you tune in you need to know what you are hearing. They are going
to tell you what they want to hear or believe, intending to get you to believe it too. It is the same way

The, Tan Skin, And Expensive Cloths
Defined muscles, tan skin, and expensive cloths. These are the typical values of someone from Jersey
shore, yet they do not represent the state of New Jersey and most American would say there are more
important things in life. But looking at the whole country there would be a consensus that the cultural
values is roughly the same. That professional baseball players are fiscally worth more than teachers
and money is the second most important thing next to food. These values may take a different priority
in a different country. Social norms and media are in every society; therefore it is important to
understand what the concepts are and how they pertain to our lives today.
A social construction is an idea that is perpetuated and given meaning by the people who believe in
and propagate the idea. Social constructs that are not founded by science are given sole meaning from
their creators and as such can change the meaning situationally. Over time the ideas can grow to
define a culture or eventually die out, all directly due to the amount of support each receives. An
example of a social construction would be currency and race. Currency for example takes on different
forms in physical appearance, from gold to paper, and different names between different countries,
from the Japanese yen to the Mexican peso, yet each can be exchanged for one another in comparable
amounts. The global market says what each is worth and as such, we the consumers, believe it to be

The consumption of plastic increase because there are many development project and population

Buck V. Bell Case Study
Module 3 Activity: Buck v. Bell Since the time of the court s decision, what changes have been made
in the lives of individuals who are intellectually disabled? There have been widespread societal
changes in the way in which individuals with intellectual disabilities are treated since the court made
its decision in the 1920s. These changes lead to those with disabilities being able to participate in
more areas of normal life. This movement to remove barriers for people with disabilities is called
normalization (Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen, 2015). Prior to the 1970 s, those with intellectual
disabilities were placed in institutions, but after this time there was an effort to keep people with
intellectual disabilities in their own communities. This change has both positive and negative
implications. While this brought people with intellectual disabilities back to their communities and
helped them integrate into a more normal way of life, many are now in jails or homeless. A second
piece of normalization that is particular to education is inclusion. This is the practice in which students
with exceptionalities are included in a general education classroom with their peers (Hallahan,

Dalai Lama s Invasion On Tibetan Culture
During 1950, china invaded tibet and the small tibetan army couldn t handle the stronger chinese army
and had to give in. In 1951, a peaceful liberation took place and was signed by Tibet making many
agreements with China. The biggest condition was giving authority to the chinese over Tibet. The
upcoming anniversary of this liberation should not be commemorated because this was an invasion on
the tibetan culture and on the lives of the tibetan people.
A previous icon during the time of the peaceful liberation in Tibet, was the fourteenth Dalai Lama. He
tried to preach non violence to all the angry Tibetans. People refused his ways and began to fight the
communist ways and the Lama did not support them. When Dalai Lama returned to India to celebrate
the Buddha, he did not want to go back to Tibet with all the fighting. Eventually a big fight broke out
with the chinese army and tibetan gorillas and the Dalai Lama had to flee and was no longer welcome
in Tibet with his people. This liberation ruined a religious icon in Tibet and that is no reason to

because they have not been intimate since her return. As they converse about it, Nick realizes the baby
is his, because if Amy could frame him with murder, she could find a way to have his child. Ever since
Amy got back home, Nick constantly tells her that he will leave her, but Amy wants him to stay. Amy
gets everything she wants because she knows how to chase what she desires. Nick s parents got a

Nick that she wants. Amy knows that no matter what she does, Nick will always stay around to be

How To Build An Arch In Roman Architecture
During the Roman era, architecture and building styles took many leaps forward. This was partly due
to the development of two key technologies: the arch and concrete. These technologies, and others,
gave the Romans new capabilities in both domestic and public architecture, as well as the creation of
infrastructure. In their furthering the development of the arch, the Romans took inspiration from the
architectural achievements of their Greek neighbors (wikipedia). The arch was often used in the
construction of grand monuments, as a centerpiece of it s own. These massive structures were
constructed as a celebration by leaders, often to celebrate victory in battle. Bas relief, featuring scenes
of religion, warfare, and ancestors, were carved into the arches. One well kept example is the Arch of
Septimius Severus at the Forum, erected AD 203 to celebrate his victories over the Parthians and the
Osroeni. (Kamm Wilson). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multiple tiers of arches could be used to support these structures. Without the arch, the Romans would
have been without the fresh water they could bring down from the mountains. The ability to get water
to the people allowed the city to run more efficiently, freeing people to do other work. It could be
piped directly into homes, increasing the standard of living in Rome (at least for the wealthy that
could afford this) (Kamm Wilson). The long bridges that the Romans could build decreased travel
time, allowing more efficient trade and more effective leadership and control of nearby

An Initial Link Effect On Gambling Behavior
Suboptimal choice: An initial link effect on gambling behaviour
Introduction
Human gambling often involves the decision to choose a low probability pay off, with the illusion of
gaining quick and easy money, over a high probability pay off. This reflects a form of suboptimal
choice behaviour. Suboptimal choice refers to the choice that does not result in the highest overall
reinforcement one could achieve. The probability of actually winning is slim to none when gambling,
but these behaviours are significantly popular. One of the most insidious behaviour humans engage in
is compulsive gambling, which had been associated with several negative outcomes for the
compulsive gambler and their loved ones. Thus, it is important to understand why humans make
suboptimal choices and ultimately know how to reduce the probability of such choices to occur
(Fantino, Navarro, O daly, 2005). Research on this topic aims to investigate the underlying
mechanisms involved such as the environmental factors influencing suboptimal behaviour, and the
behavioural process in making decisions.
Several animal studies have been used to investigate the underlying mechanisms of this suboptimal
choice behaviour (Cowie, Davison, Elliffe, 2011; Gipson, Alessandri, Zentall, 2009; Jimenez Gomez
Shahan, 2012; McDevitt, Dunn, Spetch, Ludvig, 2016; Spetch, Mondloch, Belke, Dunn, 1994; Stagner

Essay on America s Most Devastating Conflict
America s Most Devastating Conflict
King Philip s War (1675 76) is an event that has been largely ignored by the American public and
popular historians. However, the almost two year conflict between the colonists and the Native
Americans in New England stands as perhaps the most devastating war in this country s history. One
in ten soldiers on both sides were wounded or killed. At its height, hostilities threatened to push the
recently arrived English colonists back to the coast. And, it took years for towns and urban centers to
recover from the carnage and property damage.
The war is named for King Philip, the son of Massasoit and chief of the Wampanoag nation. In his
language, his name was Metacom, Metacomet, or Pometacom. In 1662, ... Show more content on

Though there were many events that led to the war, the attack on the settlement on the banks of the
Kickemuit River may be attributed to the growing perception that Indian land had been increasingly
encroached upon by settlers, leaving cornfields overrun by settlers livestock and traditional hunting
grounds inaccessible. In fact, since the arrival of the English at Plymouth Rock in 1620, land under
Native control had been reduced from all of Southeastern Massachusetts to merely the area of the
Mount Hope peninsula. (A map and local points related to the war can be found at
http://drweed.home.mindspring.com/kingphilip.htm.)
Less than a week later, authorities in Rhode Island, Plymouth, and Massachusetts attempted
negotiation with Philip, and sought guarantees of fidelity from the Nipmucks and Narragansetts.
However, before the end of the month, Wampanoags made a sudden raid on the settlement of Swansea
on the Taunton River.
On June 26, Massachusetts troops marched to Swansea to join Plymouth troops.
When news of the attack on Swansea reached Boston, the Massachusetts Bay Colony quickly came to
the aid of The Plymouth Colony. An example of the orders of the General Court is the following: To

Liberal Education Course Analysis
When someone thinks of liberal education most of the time they think of someone who is interested in
art or music but the more that I learn about liberal education the more I realize there is a lot more
involved in that kind of education. By reading these articles, liberal education is making someone
more knowledgeable in a subject or area that person would of never thought about learning on their
own. The University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh is trying to promote liberal education by doing the
University Studies Program (USP) set in place. Some of the course I have taken through USP are
Political Science, Ethics, and Theatre. By taking these courses, I have had some different opportunities
on campus. For insteads if I never took Theatre, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that what makes a person who they are is based off the way that person was raised and how
they want to acted. I think school can help in some matters when they are younger but once they turn a
certain age that person need to decide for themselves what they would like to learn and do. There is a
statement that William Cronon makes that people with liberal arts can talk with anyone which I do not
believe. I think that a liberal arts student could use more challenging words but anyone can talk to
whoever they want no matter what education they may have received. The other remark that William
Cronon made was about how liberal art people know how to listen and hear better which I disagree
with because I feel like people are going to listen to the things they want to listen too. I think liberal
arts education can open you to new ideas but I do not think that liberal arts will change a person s way
of thinking. In Sustainability: the Ultimate Liberal Art by Frank H.T. Rhodes, mentions that if schools
want liberal arts to be enforced than the professors need to get together and discuss how they want to
teach the students. I would say the USP courses could be better if the teachers got together and talked
about how they plan on using the significant question and what they are going to

Corporate Diversification
TYPES OF CORPORATE DIVERSIFICATION
When a firm chooses to diversify, it faces a decision as to how related the new business(es) is(are) to
the existing businesses of the firm. When Charles Bluhdorn was CEO of a company called
Gulf+Western in the 1950s, he diversified into a host of industries: motion pictures (Paramount
Pictures, the makers of The Godfather, Chinatown, and other movies), clothing, cigars, zinc mines,
auto parts, and sugar, among others! In contrast, a company such as Cooper Industries is more careful
in diversifying into related industries.

THE VALUE OF CORPORATE DIVERSIFICATION
Strategic actions are aimed at creating value for the organization. Therefore, it is important to look at
the value creation rationale of diversification.
Diversification moves create value when: economies of scope exist among the multiple businesses in
the organization, and exploiting these scope economies can be done more efficiently by the firm than
by shareholders on their own.
The general discussion on value creation in diversification sets the stage for the next important pasture
for the instructor outlining the key elements of economies of scope.
What are Valuable Economies of Scope?
It is important to define economies of scope first and clarify what it means with the help of examples.
Since scope economies are at the heart of successful diversification moves, its definition is vital.
The concept of economies of scope and eight potential economies of scope a diversified firm might try
to exploit. Economies of scope exist in a firm when the value of the products or services it sells
increases as a function of the number of businesses that firm

The Benefits Of Lily s Special Needs In Public Schools
Lily s parents can argue that the public school should meet Lily s special needs, set up appropriate
goals, and be placed in an inclusive classroom. Also, they should be notified the reason of the school s
decisions. Firstly, the purpose of IDEA is to to ensure that all children with disabilities have available
to them a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services
designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and
independent living (The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004, 2008). It
emphasizes that a free appropriate public education need to both meet children s unique needs and
enable children with disabilities to be prepared for further education. However, the public school does
not try to meet Lily s needs that she often needs instructions broken down into chunks and given
individually because she gets easily overwhelmed by sensory input, but has learned many coping
strategies for this with support, and her sensory challenges sometimes distract her from what is
happening in the class. Furthermore, in the grade three the majority of the goals already been mastered
by Lily with her private tutor and second grade teacher, which means that the school district set up no
challenging goal for Lily to enable her to have further education and did not meet the requirement that
IDEA should prepare children with disabilities for further education, employment, and

Essay About Ferdinand Magellan
While Ferdinand Magellan was still living he had once said, The sea is dangerous and its storms
terrible, but these obstacles have never been sufficient reason to remain ashore...unlike the mediocre,
intrepid spirits seek victory over those things that seem impossible...it is with an iron will that they
embark on the most daring of all endeavors...to meet the shadowy future without fear and conquer the

happen.
On February 3, 1480, Ferdinand Magellan was born to mother, Alada de Mesquita, and father, Rodrigo
de Magalhães, in Villa Real, Province of Traz os Montes in Portugal, Spain. For education, he was
well tutored at home, then spent years at the Portuguese court. When he was just 10 years of age, he
became an orphan after both of his parents passed away in 1490. He was educated at the Queens
School of Pages, Libson, and was fortunate to get used to subjects such as, astronomy, cartography,
and celestial navigation, which was useful for his life as an adult. Ferdinand was given the job of
messenger in the queens court. He also learned about ships while working there. In 1505, Magellan

he s telling what has happened since the death of Buddy holly and how much has influenced a change

Will Toyota be able to sustain its competitive advantage over the next decade?
Ans: Sustaining the game changer relies on upon the Value expansion that the firm can make in that
industry. It additionally relies on upon Willingness to pay and Supplier opportunity costs. At first
Toyota went for assembling little autos and focused on just a little bit of the business, however amid
1980 s Toyota redesigned their models i.e Carmy and Corolla and went into centre salary portion and
this is for the most part because of expansion in the level of pay of the Japanese individuals.
At the point when Toyota needed to extend their business sector globally and entered United States to
catch a little partition of the business they were not effective as the motors of the autos were too little
for long driving and the motors warmth up effortlessly. To beat this issue they again upgraded their
models in light of the past input and again entered the US advertise and bit by bit their business helped

Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
The economic crisis in Ireland in 1970s was an overbearing issue for the Irish and became a topic of
satire ridicule for writers. Specifically, Jonathan Swift demonstrates mockery of this time in one of his
written works, A Modest Proposal. The speaker proposes to shift the issues of over population and
poverty to a business like mentality by paying woman to bare children and then after a year, gaining a
profit by selling and eat their children. The speaker s proposal to consume the children of Ireland
demonstrates a satirical solution to the Irish s economic problems since the speaker practices irony,
paralipsis, and ridicule to his proposition to the people of Ireland. Verbal irony is used multiple times
by the speaker to describe the poor individuals in Ireland. Within this essay, the speaker refers to the
poor as pigs (16), cows in calfs and as breeders (Swift,??). The speaker even goes so far as to describe
the poor children as they will be prepared for meals for the wealthy as an art of making good bacon by
having them as a well grown, fat, yearling (Swift,??). The irony developed by Swift is from the
speaker proposing his argument of that the children will make the most delicious, nourishing and
wholesome food (Swift, Paragraph 9) can be interpreted as a second meaning. For instance, the
description of the poor Irish, made by the speaker, suggest that the individuals are being portrayed as
animals that are meant to produce a mean of advancing trade

The Average Property Tax Rate
Antonio Gonzalez
USP 120
11 FEB 15
Instructor: Jack McGrory
Midterm
Proposition 13
Before 1978, the average property tax rate for a home in California was at a little less than 3% of the
assessed value of a home. There were no limits on annual increases for the tax rate or on the individual
ad valorem charges; the taxes based on the assessed value of the property (Stoltman, 2013). During
the early seventies the real estate market experienced dramatic growth and there was a rapid escalation
in the value of our homes. At this time assessors were required to keep assessed values current.
Because of such, property taxes were skyrocketing at a substantial rate. However, increases in the
assessed value were not made every year thus resulting in a major tax jolt for homeowners every few
years (California Tax Data, 2002). Prior to Proposition 13 local agencies could independently establish
their tax rates, and make the total property tax rate composite of the individual rates with only few
limitations. It was common in the late 1970 s for homeowners to lose their homes due to uncontrolled
taxes. Essentially, before Prop. 13 if someone bought a home on a block in the 1950 s for $100,000
and someone else bought a home next door to you for $300,000, your property tax would go up
because the assessed value of your home would go up with the new sold value, not with the price you
paid for your home. This boom of the 70 s ultimately gave rise to a tax revolt that would aim to

It is best to just wear a pair of black slacks, black dress shoes, and a white, black, or crème colored

The Defense Mechanisms Of An Unconscious Level And Help...
Freud also believed that the ego exercises a range of defense mechanisms in order to deal with conflict
and problems in life. Defense mechanisms operate at an unconscious level and help relief unpleasant
feelings. There are many ego defense mechanisms, but a few examples of these include: regression,
denial, projection, displacement, repression, and sublimation. Regression is when a person is so
overwhelmed with their current issue that to protect themselves, they retreat to actions from an earlier
stage of development. Denial, as the name suggests, involves completely blocking out external events
from awareness. If a situation is too much to handle, the person denies that it s occurring. Projection is
the transfer of your own thoughts, motivations, desires, or emotions to another. Displacement is the
transfer of energy created by one object to another. Repression is occurs when a person buries
traumatic material into the unconscious. Sublimation is to satisfy an impulse with a substitute object in
a socially acceptable way. Although these defense mechanisms may seem unethical, they should also
sound somewhat familiar because we all partake in these. In fact, ego defenses are not necessarily
unhealthy, the lack of these defenses, or the inability to use them effectively can often lead to
problems in life. However, employing the defenses at the wrong time or overusing them, can be
equally destructive. Freud considered dreams to be the, royal road to the unconscious, as it

  • 2. Ronald Legacy Of Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan is known for many things; however, he is most often recognized for his presidency. Not only was he a president, he was also a former athlete, Hollywood actor, and devoted husband and father. Ronald Reagan was one of the most influential and respected men of his time, known for his traditional morals, values, and beliefs that make him one of the best presidents that America has ever seen. Although Ronald Reagan eventually came to lead a glamorous lifestyle, his beginnings were much more humble. Reagan s life as a child was difficult; his family was struggling in the Depression, and they had to move many times in order to keep up his father s business. Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911 ( Ronald ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ronald was a decent student throughout elementary and high school. He had a severe case of nearsightedness when he was young. He said that he often relied on his acting to help him by pretending his way through lessons to achieve good grades ( Ronald Reagan ). He graduated high school in his hometown of Dixon, Illinois in 1928 ( Ronald Reagan: Life in Brief ). Reagan s family and early life experiences would help to shape the rest of his life, including his college education and extracurricular activities. Reagan s education and early careers played a huge part in determining where he would go in life after college. He majored in economics at Eureka College in his home state of Illinois, and his extracurriculars included journalism, drama, and sports like football, swimming, and track ( Ronald Reagan: Life in Brief ). He helped with the school s newspaper and student senate. He was even in a fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon (Skinner 14). However, Reagan s family was poor, so he worked many jobs, such as washing dishes and lifeguarding, to help pay for his tuition and he sent some money home to his parents as well ( Ronald Reagan: Life in Brief ). He would be the first member of his family to receive a higher education. Reagan said that during his time at Eureka College, he loved three things: drama, politics, and sports (Skinner 13). After Reagan became a popular radio sports announcer by landing a job in Des Moines, Iowa, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Importance Of Temperature Control In The Human Body Temperature control is the body s natural way of warming and cooling its self, allowing it to stay at one particular temperature (37oC or 98oF) Receptors in the skin detect changes in the external temperature. They pass this information to the processing centre in the brain Hypothalamus. Hypothalamus is a processing centre in the brain that controls body temperature and is in charge of sending out signals to other conductors. It does this by triggering curtain mechanism such as goose bumps, sweet gland, shivering and automatic responses i.e taking off or putting on clothing when hot and cold. These automatic mechanism helps the body maintain and control its preferred temperature, this helps keep the organs, enzymes and cells working at a good speed keeping you healthy and stable. Temperature regulation is a vital function in our body that without it our body won t be able to function and we will die. The temperature regulation of the human body has many ways of cooling and heating. The hormones from the hypothalamus govern the physiologic functions such as thirst, hunger, sleep, mood and temperature regulation and a lot more. If one function breaks down they all will suffer causing massive health issues and even death. Thermoregulatory is a process that allows your body to maintain its core internal temperature. All thermoregulation mechanisms are designed to return your body to homeostasis (the state of equilibrium). When the external temperature is to hot the body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Silent Killer Research Paper The Silent Killer No high school student should be in a coffin instead of a cap and gown. 1 Ohio school, 4 bullied teens dead by own hand is the news headline when 4 students from Mentor, Ohio take their own lives in 2010. Sladjana Vidovic was buried in the dress she planned to wear to prom after hanging herself from her bedroom window. At her wake, the family watched as the girls who tormented Sladjana approached the casket and laughed. Eric Mohat, the alleged class clown, shot himself in the head just two weeks before his trip to Hawaii with his school choir. Just three weeks later, Eric s friend Meredith Rezak took her own life in the same manner. Jennifer Eyring died from an overdose on her mother s anti depressant. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, the same thing goes for a law. If a law is created but not continuously enforced, it is essentially useless as well. Ohio s law requires schools to write their own bullying policies, but that s just about as far as it goes. The state has no way of knowing if these policies are carried out on a day to day basis because they simply don t bother to check. Governor John Kasich recently signed the Jessica Logan Act into law which rewrites Ohio s anti bullying and harassment law to add cyberbullying, but still it does little to enforce schools to carry out these policies. When bullying leads to someone commenting suicide, that should be enough of an indicator that the current laws and policies are not effective and change must happen and fast. These enforcements of Ohio s laws are ineffective and, thus, leave the law virtually powerless. Students continue to bully other students because they see no real repercussions. But it does not always have to be this way. When a school official calls a student into their office and gives them nothing but a tongue lashing and a slap on the wrist or an occasional after school detention, the only thing being enforced into the mind of the bully and the victim is that bullying in their school is somewhat acceptable. This permissive attitude towards bullying must be stopped. Bullies must be held ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Archaeology Enthusiast Introducing: Moi (Me)! My candle burns at both ends It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends It gives a lovely light. My life is a journey of discovery, traveled in repeating cycles of dreams and mindfulness, joy and sadness, hope and despair it has been a series of stories, some bright and some dark, yet all filled with interesting people, places, things, and ideas. Sometimes I walk with others, sometimes alone. At times, I ve become lost along the way so lost I d forgotten who I really am, but sometimes the path to renewal and reawakening can be beautiful, wondrous, and full of surprises. Who am I? I m many things, and as I travel along my life s journey of discovery I m able to add to this ever growing list of the words I use to describe who I think I am (and being a scholar of letters and a former librarian, I ve arranged these traits alphabetically and, of course, not in any order of importance nor competence): Analyzer Archaeology Enthusiast Artist Aunt Author Birdwatcher Cajun Camper Cat Lover Collector Cook Cousin Cyclist Daughter Desktop Publisher Editor English Master Essayist Folklorist Friend Gardener Genealogist

  • 8. Research Paper On Marching Band Marching Band: The Struggle is Real What comes to mind when someone mentions marching band? Is it the music, uniforms, or the movements? Marching band is the sport in which musicians play while they march on a field to make shapes, but it s not as easy as it looks? They have to practice a lot, even during the summer; some practices are even 12 hours long. Even through all of this it is a great sport to take part in. This year was my first year in marching band and it was hard! I had to go through a lot of different struggles. Before school even started this year I came to school Monday through Friday for two weeks to learn how to be in marching band. The first week we practiced from 8 to 6 and during the second week we practiced from 8 to 8. That is a 12 hour practice. At practices we would start with stretches then start our conditioning. That is where we would walk for one minute, jog for 45 seconds then sprint for 15 seconds: repeat. We did this for 10 minutes. After we conditioned we would have a water break. If you join marching band, you start to understand why people always say to stay hydrated because it can cause some serious problems. Usually during the water breaks Abby, Jema, Corbin and me would talk all kinds of stuff from Corbin s leg hair to bras and food. Sadly our water breaks aren t very long. We start practicing our marching and the basics of playing while moving at a fast tempo. We do this by listening to music through the speaker. By the time we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Fukushima Fukushima Possibly Dwarfed by Deliberate Nuclear Dumping by U.S., Europe, and Soviets The most egregious facet of the ongoing fiasco that is the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident is widely accepted to be the intentional release of hundreds of tons of radioactive water into the oceans surrounding the reactors. In terms of total radioactivity released into the environment, Fukushima has already surpassed the Chernobyl incident of the 1980s, that Soviet sized lead balloon (plutonium balloon?), which is the only other Level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale. But another seemingly forgotten relic of the Cold War could pose an even greater nuclear threat to our oceans, although it has yet to receive the same level of scientific and political scrutiny as these two accidental events. The end of World War 2 also marked the beginning of the Nuclear Age. And immediately, military research labs, bomb making facilities, and power plants that ... Several research groups have shown that the radioactivity from Fukushima has already had deleterious effects on fish such as tuna all the way across the Pacific, on the west coast of North America. A recent study in the respected Journal of Ornithology clearly showed a link between the rising radioactivity from Fukushima and a significant recent drop in the abundance and diversity of birds in the region. However, given government disquietude regarding the subject, little to no research has explored the effects of intentionally dumped radioactive waste in our oceans. It is only to be seen whether Fukushima is indeed the largest disaster, or whether the intentional dumping of waste in our oceans is, in fact, the silent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Nursing and The Organizational Culture of Human Resource... Organizational culture can play a very important role in any corporation s success. As we learn more about how to make a company more successful through effective management of Human Resource, we are learning of the value of people, as a whole, and how they contribute to the success or failure of an organization. That s even more so true with in healthcare organizations. Nurses play a pivotal role in the health care profession and make up the majority of healthcare workers in a hospital setting. However, there is a nursing shortage globally that is expected to increase as nurses from the baby boom era are set to retire. This is where human resource management and organizational culture come into play. There have been prior studies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article will discuss organizational culture as it relates to the nursing profession and healthcare as a whole. II. Literature Review Culture, as defined by Florea, Goldbach, Goldbach (2011), is essential, as it affects service quality, organizational productivity, and financial results. This occurs even more so in a hospital setting, an area in which cultures vary within the healthcare providers and their patients. The literature on organizational culture and its impact on nurses and the healthcare system are increasing in frequency due to the increase in cultural variety noted in healthcare organizations. According to the article, Improving Hospital Performance through Organizational Culture (2011), many prior researchers believed that organizational culture had potential effects on employee motivation and behavior. They believed that it affected employees productivity, performance, commitment, self confidence and ethical behavior and many have tested the validity of this theory by researching and studying the organizational cultures within several industries. Prior research has showed that there is a link between excellent cultural organization and overall employee performance. • 11. Descriptive Essay On Drinking In School Morning Routine Beep, beep, beep. Once I have heard that for the third time I finally drag myself out of bed, and when I do, there is a flurry of events that happen before I get myself to school. The events that take place on a day to day basis are showering, getting dressed, fixing my hair, eating breakfast, doing leftover homework, and brushing my teeth. Mentioned above, the first thing I do after getting out of bed is take a shower. The right way to take a shower is with lukewarm or cold water because scalding water is bad for your skin and it also hurts. After I ve gotten in the shower, I wet my hair down, and then get a quarter sized amount of shampoo. From there, I lightly rub my hands together for five seconds; then, I gently scrub my scalp with shampoo covered hands. After I completely cover my entire scalp in the shampoo lather, I tilt my head forward and rinse the shampoo out of my hair. After the shampooing, I squeeze out a quarter sized amount of conditioner onto my hands. Then, I spread the conditioner evenly in both of my hands, and then lightly work the conditioner all over my scalp, like the shampoo. Although the label on conditioners say to leave it in for a few minutes, it doesn t make a difference, so once I ve applied the conditioner to my entire scalp, I tilt my head forward and rinse it out. Next, I grab the body wash bottle and squeeze out around a quarter sized amount and scrub the upper half of my body, and then I squeeze a little less than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Below are some of the items you may include: Indentured servants? beginning and decline Changes, problems, and issues with indentured servant labor Unintended consequences of using indentured servants During the colonial era, was it better to be an indentured servant, or a slave? In current day, one could argue that both are preposterous notions, however for the time, was either beneficial for anyone? Looking back on how to country developed following this time, through the years of slavery in the civil war, it may look like the only people to benefit from slavery or having an indentured servant, is the owner. Despite how either has looked throughout many of the eras of this country, being an indentured servant had very good potential for benefiting the servant. One may ask, how could anyone benefit from being a servant? Even though this may seem like a very logical question, to those involved in this life style, it all made sense. Let?s take a look at it from their point of view. When early settlers were attempting to colonize here in the new land, the first successful colony wasn?t actually established by the English government. In fact, it had been the successful venture of a privately owned business, The Virginia Company of London. This company was actually comprised of investors with seemingly good intentions. It gives a person many chances to express themselves, or to tell a story showing the audience some message. People could even use it as more of a way to see your skill in writing. The problem with a personal narrative is that people could make themselves sounds spectacular in certain aspects, all based of the writers word. Social constructs that are not founded by science are given sole meaning from their creators and as such can change the meaning situationally. Over time the ideas can grow to define a culture or eventually die out, all directly due to the amount of support each receives. An example of a social construction would be currency and race. • 19. Buck V. Bell Case Study Module 3 Activity: Buck v. Bell Since the time of the court s decision, what changes have been made in the lives of individuals who are intellectually disabled? There have been widespread societal changes in the way in which individuals with intellectual disabilities are treated since the court made its decision in the 1920s. These changes lead to those with disabilities being able to participate in more areas of normal life. This movement to remove barriers for people with disabilities is called normalization (Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen, 2015). Prior to the 1970 s, those with intellectual disabilities were placed in institutions, but after this time there was an effort to keep people with intellectual disabilities in their own communities. This change has both positive and negative implications. While this brought people with intellectual disabilities back to their communities and helped them integrate into a more normal way of life, many are now in jails or homeless. A second piece of normalization that is particular to education is inclusion. This was partly due to the development of two key technologies: the arch and concrete. These technologies, and others, gave the Romans new capabilities in both domestic and public architecture, as well as the creation of infrastructure. In their furthering the development of the arch, the Romans took inspiration from the architectural achievements of their Greek neighbors (wikipedia). The arch was often used in the construction of grand monuments, as a centerpiece of it s own. These massive structures were constructed as a celebration by leaders, often to celebrate victory in battle. • 23. An Initial Link Effect On Gambling Behavior Suboptimal choice: An initial link effect on gambling behaviour Introduction Human gambling often involves the decision to choose a low probability pay off, with the illusion of gaining quick and easy money, over a high probability pay off. This reflects a form of suboptimal choice behaviour. Suboptimal choice refers to the choice that does not result in the highest overall reinforcement one could achieve. The probability of actually winning is slim to none when gambling, but these behaviours are significantly popular. One of the most insidious behaviour humans engage in is compulsive gambling, which had been associated with several negative outcomes for the compulsive gambler and their loved ones. Thus, it is important to understand why humans make suboptimal choices and ultimately know how to reduce the probability of such choices to occur (Fantino, Navarro, O daly, 2005). Research on this topic aims to investigate the underlying mechanisms involved such as the environmental factors influencing suboptimal behaviour, and the behavioural process in making decisions. Several animal studies have been used to investigate the underlying mechanisms of this suboptimal choice behaviour (Cowie, Davison, Elliffe, 2011; Gipson, Alessandri, Zentall, 2009; Jimenez Gomez Shahan, 2012; McDevitt, Dunn, Spetch, Ludvig, 2016; Spetch, Mondloch, Belke, Dunn, 1994; Stagner Zentall, 2010; Zentall, 2014). The Average Property Tax Rate Antonio Gonzalez USP 120 11 FEB 15 Instructor: Jack McGrory Midterm Proposition 13 Before 1978, the average property tax rate for a home in California was at a little less than 3% of the assessed value of a home. There were no limits on annual increases for the tax rate or on the individual ad valorem charges; the taxes based on the assessed value of the property (Stoltman, 2013). During the early seventies the real estate market experienced dramatic growth and there was a rapid escalation in the value of our homes. At this time assessors were required to keep assessed values current. Because of such, property taxes were skyrocketing at a substantial rate. However, increases in the assessed value were not made every year thus resulting in a major tax jolt for homeowners every few years (California Tax Data, 2002). Prior to Proposition 13 local agencies could independently establish their tax rates, and make the total property tax rate composite of the individual rates with only few limitations. It was common in the late 1970 s for homeowners to lose their homes due to uncontrolled taxes. Essentially, before Prop. 13 if someone bought a home on a block in the 1950 s for $100,000 and someone else bought a home next door to you for $300,000, your property tax would go up because the assessed value of your home would go up with the new sold value, not with the price you paid for your home. This boom of the 70 s ultimately gave rise to a tax revolt that would aim to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is best to just wear a pair of black slacks, black dress shoes, and a white, black, or crème colored shirt. For my interview at McDonalds I wore a pair of black slacks, a white button up shirt, and a pair of black dress shoes, also for my interview at Redners Warehouse Markets, I wore a pair of black slack, beige shirt, and a pair of black shoes. • 38. The Defense Mechanisms Of An Unconscious Level And Help... Freud also believed that the ego exercises a range of defense mechanisms in order to deal with conflict and problems in life. Defense mechanisms operate at an unconscious level and help relief unpleasant feelings. There are many ego defense mechanisms, but a few examples of these include: regression, denial, projection, displacement, repression, and sublimation. Regression is when a person is so overwhelmed with their current issue that to protect themselves, they retreat to actions from an earlier stage of development. Denial, as the name suggests, involves completely blocking out external events from awareness. If a situation is too much to handle, the person denies that it s occurring. Projection is the transfer of your own thoughts, motivations, desires, or emotions to another. Displacement is the transfer of energy created by one object to another. Repression is occurs when a person buries traumatic material into the unconscious. Sublimation is to satisfy an impulse with a substitute object in a socially acceptable way. Although these defense mechanisms may seem unethical, they should also sound somewhat familiar because we all partake in these. In fact, ego defenses are not necessarily unhealthy, the lack of these defenses, or the inability to use them effectively can often lead to problems in life. However, employing the defenses at the wrong time or overusing them, can be equally destructive. Freud considered dreams to be the, royal road to the unconscious, as it ...
