Personality made up the characteristics patterns of thoughts,
feelings and behaviors that make a person unique.
According to Sigmund Freud
Personality is a combination of emotions , behaviors and
motivations that comprise an individual human being.
 Explain with Examples
If your boss wants you to a job in a certain way , you will
do it even if you disagree with your boss. This is biological
pressure. Similarity, you stop work and go for your lunch if
your are hungry. This is biological pressure.
 Personal Assessment
Personal assessment is the measurement of personal
characteristics. It is a general term that refers to the
process of describing individual behavior .Psychologist
have many practical and theoretical reasons for wanting to
assessment personality e.g. the industrial psychologist
faced with problem of selecting the right people far
particular kinds of job.
Personality test can be classified in two major
categories:-
 Non-projective tests
 Projective tests
 Non-Projective test of personality
The many and various paper-pencils tests are used for a
variety for purpose is to be useful, such tests must be reliable
and valid.it is direct method of accessing personality .In this
technique the person measurement knows that his personality
is being judged.
Having a overview of all the above mentioned definations,we
can conclude that personality is total action of mind-body
system determine by the interaction of heredity ,explicit in the
behavioral patterns integrating the physique structural
system and mental attributes of interests and feelings .It is a
dynamic in the whole process of development having
continuity in its actions in relation to the adjustability on that
makes a person unique
Non projective technique makes use of the Following
 Interview
 Questionnaire
 Interview:-
During which subjects behavior are observed may be
structured or unstructured. The examiner may ask
standardized set of questions or engaged in convectional
interchange with the subject. During the interview, the
examine forms an opinion about personalities characteristics.
 Questionnaires
Questionnaires is a written test consisting of a list of
questions and the subjects under test has to tick the
appropriate answer ‘yes’ or ‘no'. As the subject gives
information about his own personalities in the questionnaires
is also called the self -inventory
 Projective Tests of Personalities
In psychology a projective test in which the individual offers
response to ambiguous sense , word or images thus type of text
emerged from the psychological school thought, which
suggested that people have unconscious thought or urges.
Types of Projective Tests
 Rorschach inkblot test
 The four picture test
 T.A.T
 H.T.P
 Word Association Test
 RISB
 Rorschach inkblot test:-
The Rorschach inkblot test was one of the first projective tests
continues one of the best known deserved by Swiss
psychological HERMAN-RORSCHAH in 1921.The test consists
of ten different card that depict ambiguous inkblot. The
participant is shown one card at a time and asked when he or
she in the image the response on recorded variation by the
tester. Gestures ,tone of voice on other reaction or also noted
the result of test can vary defending on which of the many
existing scoring the examiner using.
 H.T.P:-
The H.T.P requires no specific material. The answer tells then
individual to draw picture of house a tree a person. Once
completed. He many asked individual to tell a story related to
each picture ,including the who ,what , where , why of each.
 Word Association Test:-
Word association test can make many famous there is no single
accepted list of word simply put, when using. This type of test the
access or would read a list of word asking the participants to write
down the very first thing that comes to mind after each.
 RISB:-
RISB was constructed by Julian rotter in 1950 with a manual of
instruction for a evaluation. This blank form is used to know the
adjustive problems of subjects. It is group test and can be
administrated on my literate people at time.
 The Four Picture Test:-
It is used to find out the subjects attitude toward life.In this test ,a
subject is asked to make four pictures in water color to show the
group relationship.
TAT:-
It consist of a series of ambiguous pictures which the subject is
requested to describe and tell a story about it .The test is used
to identify a person’s emotion , motivates and problems.
 Freud's Psychodynamic Theory of Personalities
Sigmund Freud is the founder of psychodynamic theory of
personalities is based on his psychoanalysis a
psychotherapeutic technique, His history is based on three
system of personalities.
1. Structure
2. Development
3. Dynamics of personalities
 Structure of Personalities:-
o ID
o EGO
o Super EGO
ID:- wants is desire to be fulfilled on pleasure principle.
EGO:- ego is related to the reality principle of social moral
values.
Super EGO:- is related to moral Principle.
 Development of Personalities
Freud consider first five years of life very important in the
development of personalities and regards first three stage
of pscho-development most important the classifies
psycho-sexual development in five stages.
o ORAL
o ANAL
o PHALIC
o LATENCY
o GENITAL
 ORAL STAGE:-
In oral child attachment with her mother because ,mother fulfill
the need of child liked the touch-ment of mother.
 ANAL STAGE:-
In this stage, child feel pleasure in his lower part of body, creation
of faces, urine and dischargers as a self creation. This age is the
period for toilet training as a verbal communication between child
and mother gets developed and child starts understanding his
mother direction.
 PHALLIC STAGE:-
This word id=s derived from Greek word meaning panis-
thought.A child starts taking differentiating role of male from
female by observing his parents. A baby boy starts taking
interests in his mother and baby girl start taking interest in his
father because of fathers love.
 STAGE:-
Child is educated in school colleges and learns about worldly
affairs. In this period child gain energy and spend it in duties
,games and different hobbies and is ego centric ,cares much
about his own sex.
 GENITAL PERIOD:-
Young adulthood to aging is the genital period. The past
experience of early childhood affects his life .An individual
success in practical life owes to mother's training.
 Dynamic of Personalities:-
According to Freud, dynamic of personalities are two onstionst
Eros and Thanatos.
 EROS:-
It is related with hunger ,thirst, security and the important sex
necessary for producing new generation.
 Thanatos:-
A destructive force directing towards death.it motivates all kind of
hatred, aggression , violence , war and suicide.
