How To Be A Military Leader Essay
Leadership is defined as the ability to accomplish a set goal(s) due to the act of inspiring and
motivating a group of your peers. Former United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower made
famous a quote that stated, Leadership consists of nothing but taking responsibility for everything
that goes wrong and giving your subordinates credit for everything that goes well. (Notable
quotes.com). One of the most important aspects of the work area is leadership. Without
leadership, there will be no guidance to for teamwork and the percentage of successful goal will be
slim to none. Becoming a great leader is no easy feat however. An exceptional leader must lock in
on specific attributes such as intellect, moral character, and human... Show more content on

The warning order must also follow the guidelines of the five paragraph OPORD format. A
warning issue may include what the mission consists of, coordinating instructions, deadline, and
who is all responsible for seeing this task is seen through. Which brings us to our final step of
leader s responsibilities: make a tentative plan. This is what really separates the boys from the
men. Up until now, it was merely receiving orders of what to do and who is a part of the plan.
Step 3 is all about the plan for mission essentials, analysis, specific and implied tasks, and a
restated mission report. The responsibility for this step is something not for the weak minded as
no situation is the same. Throughout history our country has had many leaders. Whether you re
the leader of a business, military platoon, or the leader of our great nation you were withheld
with the honor and trust to govern the actions and best interests of fellow Americans. But just
because you have achieved the title of a leader does not by default make you a good leader. A
good leader is a person who has risen above and beyond to show cooperation, perseverance, and
respect to decisions made by those still above you at one point in time. As a seasoned member of
the military, you ve risen through the ranks because you understood your mission and performed
your duties with distinction. At this stage of your career, your most important contribution may be
how well you take care of the service members and

United States Adopt A Similar Type Of Policy Of Mandatory...
Many countries require young people to serve two years of military service, and as we continue
to have military conflicts across the world, some people have proposed that the united states
adopt a similar type of policy of mandatory conscription. I believe that a two year period of
national service should be obligatory for all 18 year olds. It ll help strengthen the character of
youth, and will help increase the collective conscience of a nation and the restraint of leaders when
considering militaryaction. As we have 18 year olds go into the military, they should get the option
in whatever kind of public service that suits his or her interest. Different genders across the world
are frequently given different responsibilities. For example,... Show more content on

No. If they have never had their basic rights taken from them, they will never place as high a
value on those rights, or on the sacrifice their ancestors made to give them those rights. It is a
growing problem in America for people to take their rights for granted. Take people s rights
away temporarily and people start to value what they have more; and they start to value their
country more. Patriotism will be on the rise (Debate). What this user has said is quite interesting
and quite honestly true. Many Millennials are also pretty lazy. According to Janell Ross, apart of
the Washington post 63% of Millennials from 18 34 are lazy (Ross). With having this mandatory
service it can make them less lazy with having the experience they need to pursue the job that they
want to. Mandatory military service can help promote national unity. First, it will allow Millennials
to learn and train together, creating a shared experience and a conversation starter of serving in the
military. Then there is the general understanding of what life actually is in the army and what will
have to be done in order to protect the country and yourself. Millennials will be able to understand
and adapt an appreciation for the sacrifices that many people in the military make for their country.
More importantly, it ll bring everyone together as a country, especially with a threat from other
nations. When the nations do

degree of summarization in decision support data is very higher than operational data. * Decision
support data are characterized by very large amounts of data in comparison to operational data.

Arranged marriage 1
Do you want get married with the one you love or do you want to find someone who has many
commons in a various elements with you? Do you want to have a wonderful marriage? Or how
can people avoid their marriage from divorce? Young people nowadays can have a chance and
freedom to get married by two main ways: love marriage and arranged marriage. A lot of people in
Western countries think that arranged marriage avoid people having the chance to explore their
own personalities , getting the freedom to get marriage with the one they love or expressing
themselves creatively through dating. They assume that an arranged marriage will fail when the

Due to that, the couple might end up with suffering and divorce. In case of love marriage, people
might expect more from their partner, largely because they have fallen in love before marriage.
This leads to lesser compromises, as the person expects more from his or her partner. On the other
hand, this shows that in an arranged marriage, the couple will not expect anything from the partner
instead give a full commitment to adjust themselves with their partner. Furthermore, world divorce
statistic illustrates that India records the lowest rate of divorce which is 1.1% compared to the
other countries such as United States which records 54% of divorce rate leading the most high
divorce rate (American for Divorce Reform, 2002. Retrieved from: http://divorcerate2011.com
/divorce statistics/ ) As arranged marriage is a common practice in Indian culture but it is
impractical in Western countries, the practice of arranged marriage may become one of the factors
that contribute to this significant statistic. In fact, arranged marriage somehow reduces the divorce
rate. Therefore, these prove that arranged marriage is more stable than love marriage.

Wealth Argument Analysis
A middle class citizen sits in a courtroom while a wealthy citizen sits in a different courtroom.
Same charge, different outcome. The wealth gives the first class citizen a very unfair advantage
within the judicial system. First, he can hire lawyers that know how to find any and every
loophole in the system to get their client off with little to no charges. Even if the charge is as
drastic as manslaughter. This happens everyday all over the country as wealthbails people out of
consequences.

Gregor Mendel s Theory Of The Modern Science Of Genetics
M3 Task 3
Monohybrid and Dihybrid Inheritance
GREGOR MENDEL
Gregor Johann Mendel Moravian scientist who become known as the founder of the modern
science of genetics. He conducted pea plant experiments between 1856 and 1863 through which he
established many of the rules of heredity, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance.
Mendel s Law of Inheritance:
This law involves inheritance of biological features. In 1915 Mendel s theories were integrated with
the Boveri Sutton chromosome theory of inheritance by Thomas Hunt Morgan and they became the
core of classical genetics. Then in 1930 Ronald Fisher combined them with the theory of natural
selection in his book The Genetical Theory of Natural Selection, this put evolution onto ... Show

Law of Independent Assortment
The Law of Independent Assortment states that alleles for separate traits are passed from parents to
offspring independently from each other. Proof of this principle was achieved through dihybrid and
monohybrid cross experiments. Independent assortment occurs in eukaryotic organisms during
meiotic metaphase I, and produces a gamete with a mixture of the organism s chromosomes. The
physical basis of the independent assortment of chromosomes is the random orientation of each
bivalent chromosome along the metaphase plate with respect to the other bivalent chromosomes.
Along with crossing over, independent assortment increases genetic diversity by producing many
genetic combinations.
Law of Dominance
Mendel s Law of Dominance states that recessive alleles will always be masked by dominant
alleles. This means a cross between a homozygous dominant and a homozygous recessive will
always express the dominant phenotype whilst still having a heterozygous genotype. Proof of this
principle was achieved using a mono hybrid cross experiment: In a cross between two organisms
of contrasting traits the trait that is expressed is called dominant and the trait that is suppressed is
called recessive.
Dominance and Co dominance
Dominance and co dominance was discovered by Gregor Mendel when he found that if two
parents with different variations of a similar trait were cross bred, the offspring would only display

Better Off Friends Character Analysis
Imagine moving from Los Angeles, California to a small town in Wisconsin and not knowing
anyone at the new school. Anyone in this situation would want to make friends that would accept
them in the new town. This is the position Levi, one of the main characters in Elizabeth Eulberg s
Better off Friends, is in when he starts middle school. Macallan, the other main character, is the
person that befriends Levi, and they become very close very fast. Being a new kid from down
south, many people stereotypeLevi because of how he looks and the way he acts, which was
normal in Los Angeles where he used to live, but odd to the people in Wisconsin. For this reason
the boys at school did not really want to hang out with Levi, and that is why he and Macallan
become such good friends in a short amount of time. The two of them could find a lot that they
had in common, even though they were from completely different places. Macallan and Levi were
together a lot, so when they hung out just the two of them, people would think they were dating
when they were not. This is the second stereotype addressed in the book; a boy and a girl that
spend lots of time together do not have to be a boyfriend and a girlfriend. Throughout middle
school and high school, they were constantly asked if they were dating, when they were not.
Therefore, in Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg, Eulberg addresses stereotypes about where
people come from and people of the opposite gender being just friends. First

Hitler s Conspiracies On The Home Front
On October 7th, 1916, Hitler received a server would to the leg resulting from a shell blast, while
stationed near Bapaume. He was then sent to convalesce at Beelitz, where he healed up. When he
had recovered from the injury he went on a trip to nearby Berlin, for some sight seeing. The
capital was suffering from food shortages, and that combined with long working hours for the
munition workers caused work strikes to occur. This is seen as the real reason behind the fall of
Germany, a lack of food and thus lack of mutations. After witnessing this all Hitler labeled them
cowards and traitors, showing no empathy for their plight. The lack of morale for the war was

The Effect Of Bank Consolidation On The Performance Of Banks In Nigeria

1.0 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The recapitalization and consolidation exercise in the banking industry by the former Central Bank
of Nigeria Governor, Professor Charles Soludo has necessitated the need for different
organization to engage in corporate Consolidation (mergers and acquisition). The concept of
recapitalization refers to the current trend of compelling all commercial banks to raise their
capital base from 2billion to 25billion Naira by the Central Bank of Nigeria on or before 31st
December 2005. This has sent some of these banks on the move to consider ... Show more content

Globally, such business combinations have involved various sizes of companies as well as assets
and have cut across economic sectors. While many business combinations have been well received
by parties involved, other have done so with stiff resistance often resulting in long battles to prevent
the combinations.
With the latest CBN regulation and the systematic withdrawal of Federal funds from the banks, a
lot of banks are on the brink of extinction. As a result of this a lot of banks are now either going
public or trying to position themselves as banks of choice for possible merger or acquisition by
other banks. This new development would also impact on employment, as most top management
would be affected and other young staff would be thrown into the labour market in the bid to have
the required number of directors by the regulatory authorities and on the economy at large.
In Nigeria today, a number of banks wanting to merge may run into difficulties, because most
Nigeria banks are not quoted on the stock exchange and the assets of some are really bad. The
effect of the merger is that merging banks in the country, under the current dispensation may lose
their licenses and be issued new ones to reflect the new consolidated outfit. As we go on in the
subsequent chapters, further critical look shall be taken on the effect that this development is likely
to or will have on the Nigeria banking industry and the economy at large.

Theme Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
The story of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge expresses a dark theme with attention to death,
mental deterioration, time distortion, and forces beyond nature. These themes are commonly
demonstrated by the author, Ambrose Bierce, a civil war veteran. Bierce also tends to
incorporate his own experiences during the war into his works as a writer. As he fought in the
battle of Shiloh, he came across a waterway known as Owl Creek. Consequently, he was captured
in Northern Alabama by Confederate soldiers but escaped successfully. The events that took place
during this part of the civil war greatly influenced and therefore laid the foundation for the author
to write the story of Owl Creek Bridge. Peyton Farquhar, the protagonist in the story, was faced
with many obstacles throughout the plot s development. Although Farquhar was threatened to be
hung by Confederate soldiers, he never failed to imagine the best scenario to improve his
imminent situation. The only difference between stepping stones and stumbling blocks is how you
use them . In Owl Creek Bridge, Peyton Farquhar dealt with many obstacles thrown in his path and
used them to make the best out of his dire circumstances. Farquhar owned a large plantation in
Alabama, and was a very successful planter for his high class, imperious, southern family. Being a
slave owner, he was politically submerged in the Southern cause. However, he was unable to fight
for the south in the war, and he desperately wanted to contribute in

The Problem Of Criminal Justice System
Since the dawn of man crime has been a problem. Even though most people have some basic
sense of what is right and what is wrong, crime still occurs. All the way back to the ancient code of
Hammurabi man has tried to understand, classify, and appropriately punish crime. The bible itself
includes a detailed set of rules, or commandments, about what was legal and what wasn t. There are
many ideas and schools of thought that surround the idea of criminal justice. Initially the main goals
of these schools of thought were to classify and punish crimes, however in the recent past we are
seeing a shift toward the deterrence and prevention of crime. Early classical, biological, and
psychological theories helped shape what is today s criminal justice system.
One of the earliest theories that attempted to explain the cause of crime is classical theory. In 1764,
Cesare Beccaria published his Essay on Crimes and Punishments. The book, which contained
Beccaria s thoughts and observations about the criminal justice system, was important because it
was the first of its time to contain thoughts about the philosophy of punishment. According to
classical theory, individuals have the ability to exercise free will and due to this should be held
responsible for their actions. Crime is a result of rational decision making where the criminal must
decide if the possible punishment for the crime is worth the potential gain. Beccaria stated that
crimes needed fitting punishments to act as a

Prenatal Genetic Testing Raise Ethnic Issues
In Improvements in Prenatal Genetic Testing Raise Ethnic Issues, R. J. Crayton produced an
article about prenatal testing and whether or not parents should be allowed to have these tests
done. First the situation of a high risk baby who will have a disability or defect after birth, so the
parents decide to abort the child is being viewed as an inequality to the disabled community.
Secondly, certain adoptions are put on hold since the biological parents chose to not carry the
unborn child through the entire pregnancy, however, the surrogate mother wants to carry the child
through the entire term. Lastly, research shows that the results can be a false positive, so
unintentionally the parents decide not to keep the unknown, but healthy baby.
To start off with the population that is born with defects or disabilities view the test results as a
discriminating factor against them because of parents wanting to abort children like them.
According to Professor Daniel Williams, he shows that a speculative society standards may arise to
...produce a healthy child... due to the test results (Crayton, R.J.). Also, Peter Chipman expands to
say that due to the results parents think of the face value of the disability and not the authenticity of
the disability.

story about living a disabled life. Nickole has spinal muscular atrophy, which is a genetic disability

Internet And Internet Relationships
Numerous studies have been conducted on various facets of Internet relationships, focusing on the
levels of intimacy, closeness, different communication modalities, and the frequency of use of
computer mediated communication (CMC). However, contradictory results are suggested within
this research because only certain aspects of CMC are investigated, for example, email only.
Cummings, Butler, and Kraut (2002) suggest that face to face (FtF) interactions are more effective
than CMC (read: email) in creating feelings of closeness or intimacy, while other studies suggest the
opposite. To understand how both online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) relationships are
affected by CMC, all forms of CMC should be studied. This paper examines Cummings et al. s
research against other CMC research to propose that additional research be conducted to better
understand how online communication affects relationships. Literature Review In Cummings et al.
s (2002) summary article reviewing three empirical studies on online social relationships, it was
found that CMC, especially email, was less effective than FtF contact in creating and maintaining
close social relationships. Two of the three reviewed studies focusing on communication in non
Internet and Internet relationships mediated by FtF, phone, or email modalities found that the
frequency of each modality s use was significantly linked to the strength of the particular
relationship (Cummings et al., 2002). The

Joh John R. Wooden s Analysis
In the notes it describes communitas as a group of people sharing common cultural practices,
values, and/or identities (Bustad, lecture, 2017). This relates back to sport and physical activity
because although each individual player may live in different locations than another, when they
come together for this one sport and act as a team, they share the same values of the game. They
also share the same type of identity when playing on the same team or involved in the same
physical activity as another individual.
John R. Wooden was an American basketballplayer coach and teacher. He taught philosophy which
highly influenced his coaching style. Wooden created the Pyramid of Success, which took him
seventeen years to fully construct. The pyramid works as building blocks, each row acts as a
foundation for the one above it. Wooden s pyramid of success consists of: industriousness,
friendship, loyalty, cooperation and enthusiasm in the first row. The second row has: self control,
alertness, initiative, and intentness. Following this in the next row is: condition, skill, and team

Thermal Fracture Lab Report
Giselle Torres Period 1 November 29, 2017 Thermal Fracture of Rocks Lab Background:
Naturally, rocks go through a process in which they are broken down into smaller sediments of
rock. This process is known as Mechanical Weathering. Physical weathering, on the other hand, is
the same process but without changing their chemical composition. Physical weathering is
caused by changes of temperature in which results in rocks being fractured. A type of physical
weathering is heat fracture. Heat fracture is the result of a rapid change in temperature. Sudden
exposure to high temperature causes expansion and when it cools the rock contracts which then
leads to the breakage of the rock. Frost Wedging is also very similar to heat fracture. Frost
wedging pries apart a rock by having water seep in through cracks and wedges of a rock. The
water will then freeze due to extreme temperatures. This creates internal stress in the rock, causing
it to shatter. For heat fracture, the way a rock is fractured is slightly different. During the day a
rock would be heated. Since rocks are poor conductors of heat, the exterior of the rock heats... Show

If a rock is rapidly heated then cooled quickly multiple times, then the outer layer of the rock will
break down faster because the change in temperature will cause it to expand and contracting
making it undergo more stress, weakening the bonds. The data shown supports the hypothesis. In
the data, the first rock, coquina, took 9 minutes and 20 seconds for it to fracture. Then the
obsidian rock took 30 minutes and 27 seconds. And finally, the marble rock took 27 minutes until
it fractured. The graph shows that the longer time spent heating and cooling in separate beakers,
the longer it took for the rock sample to fracture. It is noticeable that the trendline goes upwards
since all three points of data increase. If another set of data were to occur, the trend will still be the

sophisticated. By joining the World Trade Organization, the country increased its participation in
the global economy (Hao, Y., Hou, Y, 2009).My research topic is on the Chinese foreign policy
towards North East Asian countries. This paper concentrates on the Chinese foreign relations with
North East Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Russia (Zhao, Q, 1997)
The author used three key words to understand the Chinese foreign policy i.e., modernization,
nationalism and regionalism. Modernization is important for the entire task as it is essential for
solving both the domestic and external problems of the country. Nationalism is one of the major
sources behind Chinese foreign relations. China s nationalism focuses more on the Chinese foreign
policy studies. Regionalism means China is having a power to concentrate on the political,
economic and military activities .These three trends influence the Chinese foreign policies .People
of Republic China is regarded as regional power. Chinas trading activities mainly constitutes the

How Does La Contessa Respond To Isolation
The Sorrows of Unopposed Isolation Companionship is something all humans will encounter
throughout their lifespan, whether it be genuine or false. A genuine companion is one who offers
advice and support with positive and selfless intent. A bogus companion may offer advice and
companionship, but seeks some sort of disguised self benefit or is ashamed of the relationship. In
the Enlightenment novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe and in the Baroque opera Le
Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, a theme of isolation due to lack of companionship is prevalent. The
main characters, Werther and La Contessa respectively, respond to isolation differently, resulting in
a different outcome for the two. Ultimately, the character of La Contessa ended up better off than
Werther because of how she responded to isolation. Based upon their response to isolation, I argue
that when no genuine companion is present, it is better for a person to pursue or accept bogus
companionship rather than no companionship, despite the circumstances that lead them to the
isolated state.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Werther, the protagonist, is obsessed with Charlotte, the main female character. Together, they form
a genuine companionship, spending time together and offering advice to one another. Despite their
deep connection, such as when they bonded over Klopstock, Charlotte rejects Werther romantically,
as she is already bound to Albert. Due to Werther s all in or all out mentality, when rejected by
Charlotte romantically, he first becomes obsessive and, due to Charlotte s steadfast rejection,
chooses to isolate himself from her completely. By removing Charlotte from his life, he had no
other companions to turn to other than Wilhelm, a character with whom he corresponded with only

An Project Management Software For A New Executive Director
People. Determining who on the staff or volunteer board will be assigned tasks, helping to
understand how much time is needed to complete the project research and duties, and completing
the necessary steps to move forward will be the most crucial. With a new executive director, and the

Substance Abuse And Deviant Behavior
The questions that you asked are very thought provoking. I have never thought about substance
abuse being a disease or caused from deviant behavior. However, now that I think about it, I feel
that substance abuse can be both a disease and caused from deviant behavior (even though I have
never thought of substance abuseas a deviant behavior before).
One example of how substance abuse could be considered a disease is if you have a mother that
was addicted to crack during her pregnancy, that child could have side effects due to the mother s
drug use. This could set the child up for failure because they could be addicted to crack later in life
because of its mother (disease).

Discrimination and Stereotyping of Japanese-Americans Essay
With the attacks on the United States by terrorists, many Americans have been experiencing
feelings of fear, sadness and tremendous anger. Many of Middle Eastern descent have been
experiencing great prejudice and discrimination and are being stereotyped as terrorists. These types
of feelings are very prevalent in American society today. Similarly, though not widely as discussed,
Japanese Americans have felt these feelings directed toward them for several generations. Going

This can be seen as an act of discrimination because rather than taking individuals and trying them
on espionage, the American government convicted an entire race, without trial and with evidence
to the contrary. The treatment of the Japanese Americanswho were sent to the internment camps
was solely based on race and not on an individual s personal actions ( Japanese Internment ). The
prejudice of the American government is also apparent. Over 120,000 people were sent to
internment camps without evidence against them. The very definition of prejudice according to
dictionary.com is an adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or
examination of the facts ( Prejudice ). The information gathered that led up this action was ignored,
and the American government simply formed the opinion that the Japanese Americans along the
West Coast would revolt and that the safety of the natural born United States citizens was more
important then the liberties and the lives of more than 120,000 foreigners. This act will forever be
remembered as one of the most discriminatory and prejudicial acts in modern American history. A

someone should die for, found itself contradicting its own teachings, and unable to control its own
paranoia and feelings of mistrust.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) produces images of organs and structures inside the body
by using magnetic field and pulses of radiofrequency (RF) energy. An MRI machine consists of
two powerful magnets that generate strong magnetic field when electricity is passed through a
conductive field coil. Human body contains large amount of water molecules that are randomly
arranged. Upon entering the machine, the hydrogen nuclei of the water molecules align in one
direction. Then, a second RF pulse is applied in a series of quick pulses that cause the hydrogen
nuclei to be out of spin alignment. When the RF pulse is switched off, the hydrogen nuclei realign
themselves and relax by releasing RF signals, also known as free induction decay (FID) response

The Process Of Amending The Us Constitution
1.The process of amending the US Constitution is an intentionally difficult one. Yet those in each
branch of government have found ways in which the Constitution can be changed informally.
Describe the methods, both formal and informal, of constitutional change. Article V of the
Constitution was formed through a compromise that stated that congress or a convention of states
has amendment power. This is known as the formal process, in which two steps are utilized:
proposal and ratification. Any member of the House of Representatives or the Senate can propose
to amend the Constitution. If it is approved by two thirds of the originating house of congress,
whether is it the Senate or the House of Representatives, it is then sent to the other side for a vote.
If it again receives a two thirds vote it will be sent to the states for ratification. The convention of
states also has the ability to amend the Constitution, however this is very unlikely. To force
congress to hold a convention two thirds of the state legislatures would have to apply for such a
convention. Although many applications have been sent, never in history has a convention like this
been held. On the off chance that either happens, the proposed amendment will be required to have
a three fourths vote of the state to become part of the Constitution. Since this formal procedure is
extremely difficult to complete, the amendments delivered have an extensive impact. For example
the first 10 amendments, known as the

Sistine Chapel Ceiling Research Paper
Throughout the centuries civilizations have produced men and women of extreme talent. The
extraordinary works they created can define a period such as the cave art of ancient man or modern
art representing cultures of today. The High Renaissance period was just such a time of expression.
A period joining together the enlightenment and modernity of western civilization in master works
of art, music and literature. Artistic brilliance secured in the disciplines they practiced influencing
generations that will follow.
One such story is of Sistine Chapel ceiling painting. Located in the Vatican, Italyby 1477 a new
renovation of the chapel was begun by Pope Sixtus IV lasting until 1480. He employed famous
artists of the day such as Pietro Perugino, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio and

considered the most difficult to master. Michelangelo manages to use them to express mood and

The Sociological Analysis Of Django Unchained By Quentin...
Django Unchained is a movie by Quentin Tarantino that goes into the life of a frees slave named
Django. Django with the help of a bounty hunter Dr. Schultz, set out to rescue Django s wife from
a brutal plantation owner she has been sold to. Django Unchained includes plenty of Karl Marx s
concepts of sociological theory including capital, labor exploitation, class struggle, materialistic
ideology, accumulation and Emile Durkheim s concept of crime.
KARL MARX CAPITAL Capital is instruments of labor which includes slaves under Karl Marx
s definition. Capital can be historically specific instead of just being materials. For example, a
black person is a black person until someone makes him a slave in certain conditions. In Django
Unchained, Django and his wife among many other slaves in the movie were made into slaves
by the people that took them from their homes in Africa and brought them to America. They
would not be slaves if these certain conditions had not happened but since they did, they became
instruments of labor and capital for their owners to sell and use as they saw fit. Many slaves in
the movie were nothing more than exchange value. Exchange value, at first sight, presents itself
as a quantitative relation, as the proportion in which values in use of one sort are exchanged for
those of another sort (Edles and Appelrouth 2015:76). In the movie Django s wife was to be sold
to him and Dr. Schultz for $12,000 because that was what Mr. Candie believed her to be

Comparing Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
When people think about Shakespeare they may think it is serious and boring, but really it
doesn t have to be. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz
Luhrmann made a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s
film of Romeo and Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he
wanted to attract a younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers.
One way Luhrmann attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film
more modernized. Luhrmann s film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in
Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults
to watch, because some of the play is in the city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to,
Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900

Numerous advancements in today s technologies are in lieu of the Industrial Revolution and its

This is evident since people who were considered part of the poverty status were trying find
ways to rise from that position by changing their mindsets and expressing their new ideas. When
people allowed themselves to do so, they were able to think with a creative and free passion that
allowed them to invent or form new ideologies, philosophies, and inventions. This would allow
either the inventor or their invention to gain popularity. With popularity, it is easy for people to
rise from their lower status to either middle, or even higher, class with their newly found fame.
The invention of a new, adored idea was seen as the easiest way to escape the tortures of poverty,
since working hard would barely ever help anybody of the lower class status. According to the
website, Biography.com, the story of Andrew Carnegie can prove the importance of freedom of
expression and change in mindsets. Andrew Carnegie was one of the most successful self made,

not always a rich and successful man. As a young boy, Carnegie grew up in a poor family and
was deprived a proper education. At the age of 13, Carnegie and his family had moved to the
United States. Once there, he had gone through several different types of jobs until he become a
worker on the Pennsylvania Rail road. As a worker on the Railroad, he noticed the importance of
the steel being used. He thought of making a business centered around making steel. Once he put
his idea into action, he had become extremely wealthy and popular (Biography.com Editors, http:/

Importance Of National Service
1.National service is a small individual sacrifice for the sake of a country s defense. Discuss.
National service is a compulsory requirement for all male Singapore citizens and second
generation permanent residents. Which they would need to undergo a compulsory uniformed
service. The duration of how long the service would last depends on quite a few factors like
physical and medical fitness. Normally it s a two year thing there are different department
ranging from National Servicemen Full time (NSFs), either in the Singapore Armed Forces
(SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF), or the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) . A 2 month
reduction in full time National Service is given for pre enlistees who can pass their National
Physical Fitness Award (NAPFA) at the silver or gold standard. But even after all the national
service that we must serve we would still need to return to the army once in a while as reservists
till an age of about 40 years old. If Singaporeans males are to skip or avoid reservist or even
national service it could be a very big problem and an offence. They could be jailed, fined or
even lose the Singapore citizenship. National service is a small individual sacrifice for the sake
of a country s defense. Is totally referring to Singapore as even though we are a little red dot we
still have quite a strong army due to our individual small sacrifices. As our NSmen makes up to
more than 80% of the Singapore military defense. Which shows that even

Statistical Assumptions Of Substantive Analyses Across The...
Nimon, K. (2012). Statistical Assumptions of Substantive Analyses Across the General Linear
Model: A Mini Review. Frontiers in Psychology Front. Psychology, 3(322).
When using inferential statistics depends on the sampling technique used as well as the
characteristics of the population data. This dependency does assume that the sample and population
meet certain criteria. The criteria is called statistical assumptions, and if there are violations of
these statistical assumptions that are not addressed, than the data may not be interpreted correctly.
In particular, Type I or Type II errors may be increased or decreased incorrectly. Nimon s (2012)
article focused on assumptions associated with substantive statistical analyses across the ... Show

Using unreliable data may cause underestimation which increase the probability of Type II
errors. If there is correlated error, we may see unreliable data to be overestimated which would
increase the risk of Type I errors. To satisfy the assumption of error free data, researchers may
conduct and report analyses using latent variables as opposed to observed variables. This technique
is called structural equation modeling (SEM). This is where latent variables are formed from item
scores, the former of which becomes the unit analyzed. It is important to note that SEM is a large
sample technique. A researcher can also delete a few items to raise the reliability of an observed
score, but this should be reported along with the accompanied estimated of the reliability with and
without the deleted items. Some researchers consider measurement to be an assumption while
others do not. Nimon (2012) does state because measurement levels play such a pivotal role in
statistical analyses decision trees, it would not be recommended to lower the measurement level of
data unless certain characteristics are met. This may discard important information and may
produce misleading or erroneous information. Yet another assumption, is the assumption that
inferential statistics in psychological and educational research produce population data that is
normally distributed. This does depend on the analysis conducted, such as univariate, multivariate,

Reflection On The Root Cellar
Since the beginning of September, I have been attending the Root Cellar in Portland Maine. My
work has varied time to time, but, mostly includes watching and hanging out with kids from age 5
18. I also helped with projects around the organization and preparing meals for kids. Throughout
my time at the root cellar, I have noticed multiple scenarios where concepts we learn in the
classroom are evident with my experiences at this organization.
The first concept or chapter I am going to focus on is education. They provide multiple services for
the students attending to perform well in school and get extra help on homework or any other school
work. They provide private tutors for free in which they will help students with specific subjects.
Two times specifically stand out to me when thinking about the concept of education. The first
was when I was walking by and witnessed an older gentleman helping a student for about an hour
with his english homework. Next was when a little boy in the 4th grade came up to me and asked
for some help with his math homework. He was learning how to multiply numbers and I taught him
the multiplying nines trick on his hands. He was so amazed by this and was very thankful which
made my whole experience at The Root Cellar worth it.
The second concept I experienced was economic inequality. This is very apparent with people who
come into the root cellar as they are seeking assistance. My last time volunteering I noticed this as I
was picking up

The Patriarchal Male Gaze
While talking to my Indian friends about our summer project, Adolescents Health Awareness
Program , I listened to their stories about harassment and eve teasing while travelling alone. I
had also come across some of the situations where I feel uncomfortable and hate my body. When
I walk down the streets of the city, a person s stare and taunts, make me feel as if I have done a
crime by being born as a girl. The constant gazes are not so unusual now.
Gaze, as the Longman dictionary defines is a long steady look , but I would say it is much more
than that long look. It is a constant look with admiration for something. It simply turns a subject to
an object where male values the body of a female to fulfill their desires. The term male gaze was
first brought up by Laura Mulvey and has come from film theory and is basically used to describe
the idea of putting the audience into the perspective of a heterosexual man. With the
development of the media, we see films, a major form of visual popular culture ( The Patriarchal
Gaze ), portraying women as sexually objectified bodies. Laura Mulvey in her article, Visual
Pleasure and Narrative Cinema , says that male gaze is an erotic look of power and of
objectification. The view of the camera, and thus of the male protagonist, is that of the intended
male gaze (Mulvey). With the male gaze, female bodies presented in the movies are sexualized and
their body is objectified. Females are shown offering up their femininity for the

Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth is the most interesting and complex character in the play. She is, in fact, the point on
which the action pivots: without her there is no play.
Macbeth s most interesting and complex character is most certainly, as the question states, Lady
Macbeth. The purpose of this essay is to describe Lady Macbeth s role in the play and discuss why
this makes her the most fascinating character. Her evil doings are the main reasons why she
dominates the plot so greatly. These include the following: considers Macbeth to be a wimp not
wanting to murder; letting Macbeth fulfill her plan; taking control over Macbeth s thoughts and
actions; turning Macbeth from a loyal man to a greedy, coldhearted human being. Also... Show

Still asleep Lady Macbeth asks, what, will these hands ne re be clean? foreseeing that she will
never have peace of mind. This change in character is truly remarkable considering her dominant
nature in Acts one and two.
The transformation of the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is another interesting
part of Lady Macbeth. In acts one and two their relationship is strong and loving. This strength is
shown when Macbeth agreements to conduct his wife s plans because of a threat Lady Macbeth
made to take away her love. This meant Macbeth was essentially willing to kill so that his
relationship with Lady Macbeth continued.
After the murder and the crowning of Macbeth the once strong relationship between Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth rapidly deteriorates, so much so that when Macbeth hears of his wife s death he
does not feel any emotion what so ever. When Macbeth became king he and his wife rarely saw
each other as Macbeth was occupied in running and protecting Scotland and also himself. At this
stage (acts three and four) in the play Lady Macbeth s role is not as evident but when she did make
appearances they were usually important to the plot.
At the beginning Lady Macbeth finds strength to lure Macbeth to murder King Duncan and to
commit the murder herself. As the play progresses, her apparent strength diminishes as she fights

Former United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower made famous a quote that stated, Leadership consists of nothing but taking responsibility for everything that goes wrong and giving your subordinates credit for everything that goes well. (Notable quotes.com). One of the most important aspects of the work area is leadership. Up until now, it was merely receiving orders of what to do and who is a part of the plan. Step 3 is all about the plan for mission essentials, analysis, specific and implied tasks, and a restated mission report. The responsibility for this step is something not for the weak minded as no situation is the same. Throughout history our country has had many leaders. Whether you re the leader of a business, military platoon, or the leader of our great nation you were withheld with the honor and trust to govern the actions and best interests of fellow Americans. But just because you have achieved the title of a leader does not by default make you a good leader. Many countries require young people to serve two years of military service, and as we continue to have military conflicts across the world, some people have proposed that the united states adopt a similar type of policy of mandatory conscription. I believe that a two year period of national service should be obligatory for all 18 year olds. It ll help strengthen the character of youth, and will help increase the collective conscience of a nation and the restraint of leaders when considering militaryaction. As we have 18 year olds go into the military, they should get the option in whatever kind of public service that suits his or her interest. Then there is the general understanding of what life actually is in the army and what will have to be done in order to protect the country and yourself. On the other hand, this shows that in an arranged marriage, the couple will not expect anything from the partner instead give a full commitment to adjust themselves with their partner. Furthermore, world divorce statistic illustrates that India records the lowest rate of divorce which is 1.1% compared to the other countries such as United States which records 54% of divorce rate leading the most high divorce rate (American for Divorce Reform, 2002. Retrieved from: http://divorcerate2011.com /divorce statistics/ ) As arranged marriage is a common practice in Indian culture but it is impractical in Western countries, the practice of arranged marriage may become one of the factors that contribute to this significant statistic. In fact, arranged marriage somehow reduces the divorce rate. Therefore, these prove that arranged marriage is more stable than love marriage. In 1915 Mendel s theories were integrated with the Boveri Sutton chromosome theory of inheritance by Thomas Hunt Morgan and they became the core of classical genetics. Law of Independent Assortment The Law of Independent Assortment states that alleles for separate traits are passed from parents to offspring independently from each other. Proof of this principle was achieved through dihybrid and monohybrid cross experiments. Independent assortment occurs in eukaryotic organisms during meiotic metaphase I, and produces a gamete with a mixture of the organism s chromosomes. The physical basis of the independent assortment of chromosomes is the random orientation of each bivalent chromosome along the metaphase plate with respect to the other bivalent chromosomes. Along with crossing over, independent assortment increases genetic diversity by producing many genetic combinations. Law of Dominance Mendel s Law of Dominance states that recessive alleles will always be masked by dominant alleles. This means a cross between a homozygous dominant and a homozygous recessive will always express the dominant phenotype whilst still having a heterozygous genotype. Proof of this principle was achieved using a mono hybrid cross experiment: In a cross between two organisms of contrasting traits the trait that is expressed is called dominant and the trait that is suppressed is called recessive. Dominance and Co dominance Dominance and co dominance was discovered by Gregor Mendel when he found that if two parents with different variations of a similar trait were cross bred, the offspring would only display one of these ... Anyone in this situation would want to make friends that would accept them in the new town. This is the position Levi, one of the main characters in Elizabeth Eulberg s Better off Friends, is in when he starts middle school. Macallan, the other main character, is the person that befriends Levi, and they become very close very fast. Being a new kid from down south, many people stereotypeLevi because of how he looks and the way he acts, which was normal in Los Angeles where he used to live, but odd to the people in Wisconsin. For this reason the boys at school did not really want to hang out with Levi, and that is why he and Macallan become such good friends in a short amount of time. The two of them could find a lot that they had in common, even though they were from completely different places. Macallan and Levi were together a lot, so when they hung out just the two of them, people would think they were dating when they were not. This is the second stereotype addressed in the book; a boy and a girl that spend lots of time together do not have to be a boyfriend and a girlfriend. Throughout middle school and high school, they were constantly asked if they were dating, when they were not. Therefore, in Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg, Eulberg addresses stereotypes about where people come from and people of the opposite gender being just friends. First ... While many business combinations have been well received by parties involved, other have done so with stiff resistance often resulting in long battles to prevent the combinations. With the latest CBN regulation and the systematic withdrawal of Federal funds from the banks, a lot of banks are on the brink of extinction. As a result of this a lot of banks are now either going public or trying to position themselves as banks of choice for possible merger or acquisition by other banks. This new development would also impact on employment, as most top management would be affected and other young staff would be thrown into the labour market in the bid to have the required number of directors by the regulatory authorities and on the economy at large. In Nigeria today, a number of banks wanting to merge may run into difficulties, because most Nigeria banks are not quoted on the stock exchange and the assets of some are really bad. Theme Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge The story of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge expresses a dark theme with attention to death, mental deterioration, time distortion, and forces beyond nature. These themes are commonly demonstrated by the author, Ambrose Bierce, a civil war veteran. Bierce also tends to incorporate his own experiences during the war into his works as a writer. As he fought in the battle of Shiloh, he came across a waterway known as Owl Creek. Consequently, he was captured in Northern Alabama by Confederate soldiers but escaped successfully. The events that took place during this part of the civil war greatly influenced and therefore laid the foundation for the author to write the story of Owl Creek Bridge. Peyton Farquhar, the protagonist in the story, was faced with many obstacles throughout the plot s development. Although Farquhar was threatened to be hung by Confederate soldiers, he never failed to imagine the best scenario to improve his imminent situation. The only difference between stepping stones and stumbling blocks is how you use them . In Owl Creek Bridge, Peyton Farquhar dealt with many obstacles thrown in his path and used them to make the best out of his dire circumstances. All the way back to the ancient code of Hammurabi man has tried to understand, classify, and appropriately punish crime. The bible itself includes a detailed set of rules, or commandments, about what was legal and what wasn t. There are many ideas and schools of thought that surround the idea of criminal justice. Initially the main goals of these schools of thought were to classify and punish crimes, however in the recent past we are seeing a shift toward the deterrence and prevention of crime. Early classical, biological, and psychological theories helped shape what is today s criminal justice system. One of the earliest theories that attempted to explain the cause of crime is classical theory. In 1764, Cesare Beccaria published his Essay on Crimes and Punishments. The book, which contained Beccaria s thoughts and observations about the criminal justice system, was important because it was the first of its time to contain thoughts about the philosophy of punishment. According to classical theory, individuals have the ability to exercise free will and due to this should be held responsible for their actions. Crime is a result of rational decision making where the criminal must decide if the possible punishment for the crime is worth the potential gain. However, contradictory results are suggested within this research because only certain aspects of CMC are investigated, for example, email only. Cummings, Butler, and Kraut (2002) suggest that face to face (FtF) interactions are more effective than CMC (read: email) in creating feelings of closeness or intimacy, while other studies suggest the opposite. To understand how both online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) relationships are affected by CMC, all forms of CMC should be studied. This paper examines Cummings et al. s research against other CMC research to propose that additional research be conducted to better understand how online communication affects relationships. Thermal Fracture Lab Report Giselle Torres Period 1 November 29, 2017 Thermal Fracture of Rocks Lab Background: Naturally, rocks go through a process in which they are broken down into smaller sediments of rock. This process is known as Mechanical Weathering. Physical weathering, on the other hand, is the same process but without changing their chemical composition. Physical weathering is caused by changes of temperature in which results in rocks being fractured. A type of physical weathering is heat fracture. Heat fracture is the result of a rapid change in temperature. Sudden exposure to high temperature causes expansion and when it cools the rock contracts which then leads to the breakage of the rock. Frost Wedging is also very similar to heat fracture. Frost wedging pries apart a rock by having water seep in through cracks and wedges of a rock. The water will then freeze due to extreme temperatures. This creates internal stress in the rock, causing it to shatter. For heat fracture, the way a rock is fractured is slightly different. During the day a rock would be heated. Since rocks are poor conductors of heat, the exterior of the rock heats... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A genuine companion is one who offers advice and support with positive and selfless intent. A bogus companion may offer advice and companionship, but seeks some sort of disguised self benefit or is ashamed of the relationship. In the Enlightenment novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe and in the Baroque opera Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, a theme of isolation due to lack of companionship is prevalent. The main characters, Werther and La Contessa respectively, respond to isolation differently, resulting in a different outcome for the two. Ultimately, the character of La Contessa ended up better off than Werther because of how she responded to isolation. • 29. The Process Of Amending The Us Constitution 1.The process of amending the US Constitution is an intentionally difficult one. Yet those in each branch of government have found ways in which the Constitution can be changed informally. Describe the methods, both formal and informal, of constitutional change. Article V of the Constitution was formed through a compromise that stated that congress or a convention of states has amendment power. This is known as the formal process, in which two steps are utilized: proposal and ratification. Any member of the House of Representatives or the Senate can propose to amend the Constitution. If it is approved by two thirds of the originating house of congress, whether is it the Senate or the House of Representatives, it is then sent to the other side for a vote. If it again receives a two thirds vote it will be sent to the states for ratification. The convention of states also has the ability to amend the Constitution, however this is very unlikely. To force congress to hold a convention two thirds of the state legislatures would have to apply for such a convention. The extraordinary works they created can define a period such as the cave art of ancient man or modern art representing cultures of today. The High Renaissance period was just such a time of expression. A period joining together the enlightenment and modernity of western civilization in master works of art, music and literature. Artistic brilliance secured in the disciplines they practiced influencing generations that will follow. One such story is of Sistine Chapel ceiling painting. Located in the Vatican, Italyby 1477 a new renovation of the chapel was begun by Pope Sixtus IV lasting until 1480. Even more famous are the hands which are so emotive and iconic usually associated with humanity. For the artist the human hand and foot are considered the most difficult to master. Michelangelo manages to use them to express mood and movement astonishing well in all of the figures considering he did not consider himself a painter! Even his sculptures use hand and foot position to great effect. Interestingly, it has been noted on the panel the drape behind the image of God appears to be an outline of the human brain. • 33. The Sociological Analysis Of Django Unchained By Quentin... Django Unchained is a movie by Quentin Tarantino that goes into the life of a frees slave named Django. Django with the help of a bounty hunter Dr. Schultz, set out to rescue Django s wife from a brutal plantation owner she has been sold to. Django Unchained includes plenty of Karl Marx s concepts of sociological theory including capital, labor exploitation, class struggle, materialistic ideology, accumulation and Emile Durkheim s concept of crime. KARL MARX CAPITAL Capital is instruments of labor which includes slaves under Karl Marx s definition. Capital can be historically specific instead of just being materials. For example, a black person is a black person until someone makes him a slave in certain conditions. In Django Unchained, Django and his wife among many other slaves in the movie were made into slaves by the people that took them from their homes in Africa and brought them to America. They would not be slaves if these certain conditions had not happened but since they did, they became instruments of labor and capital for their owners to sell and use as they saw fit. Many slaves in the movie were nothing more than exchange value. Exchange value, at first sight, presents itself as a quantitative relation, as the proportion in which values in use of one sort are exchanged for those of another sort (Edles and Appelrouth 2015:76). In the movie Django s wife was to be sold to him and Dr. Schultz for $12,000 because that was what Mr. Candie believed her to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel more modernized. This technique is called structural equation modeling (SEM). This is where latent variables are formed from item scores, the former of which becomes the unit analyzed. It is important to note that SEM is a large sample technique. Gaze, as the Longman dictionary defines is a long steady look , but I would say it is much more than that long look. It is a constant look with admiration for something. It simply turns a subject to an object where male values the body of a female to fulfill their desires. The term male gaze was first brought up by Laura Mulvey and has come from film theory and is basically used to describe the idea of putting the audience into the perspective of a heterosexual man. With the development of the media, we see films, a major form of visual popular culture ( The Patriarchal Gaze ), portraying women as sexually objectified bodies. Laura Mulvey in her article, Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema , says that male gaze is an erotic look of power and of objectification.
