Capacity Strategy Of Alden Products

strategy should embody a mental model of how a firm works in a given industry and geographic
region. There are a series of assumptions and predictions about the log term behaviour of markets,
technologies, costs and competitor s behaviour. Such a model would include the following factors: *
Predicted growth and variability of demand for the firm s products and services * Costs of building
and operating different sized facilities * Likely rate and direction of technological evolution *
Expected behaviour of competitors * Anticipated availability, capabilities and costs of external
suppliers The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In terms of sizing of capacity increments taking into account scale considerations, the company should
attain long term economies of scale. This scale refers to the economies that arise from using one large
facility rather than a number of smaller ones. This often results in savings because the processing
capacity is roughly proportional to its interior volume and its cost is more closely related to the surface
area in terms of where the materials and labour hours are concentrated. We also know that though
there is a growth in demand, variability exists across different countries. Greater the variability, there
are chances that there would be a greater amount of underutilized capacity and at this stage opening a
new plant in a different location altogether could make the entire scenario vulnerable. Drawbacks of
not opening a new plant in Southern Europe are as follows: * Loose an opportunity to tap a lower cost
labour market * Reduction in transportation costs had a new plant come up in Southern Europe *
Would not be able to offset the protectionist sentiment in both France and Italy However, if we do an
analysis of the options provided based on the cost and complications, this is what we get: |
EXPANSION AT UNIPLANT | A NEW PLANT IN SOUTHERN EUROPE | Land cost | Dfl. 500,000
per hectare | Dfl. 4 million per hectare | Equipment Cost | Cost same for both |

Summary Of No Witchcraft For Sale By Doris Lessing
Accept Our Differences
(A Discussion on three messages from Doris Lessing No Witchcraft for Sale.) Doris Lessing was born
during the British Empire, and witnessed many of the injustices that were done upon the people of
Rhodesia. She grew up and felt it was a part of her duty to write about social injustices. Leftist,
fiercely independent, feminist, her characters, like Lessing herself, are social critics rebelling against
the cultural restrictions of their societies (Gale). She had a deep desire to influence others through her
literary works. She challenges the idea of race and women gender roles in most of her writings. She is
also known for mostly writing fiction literary works. In Doris Lessing s literary work No Witchcraft
for Sale she expresses three important messages about social issues during the Britain Empire. Doris
Lessing s first message demonstrated in No Witchcraft for Sale is standing by your culture. Culture is
an important aspect to all humans, no matter what race, or where you come from. Everyone
experiences culture values that they grew up with and teach to generations down the line. The idea of
culture has been around since the existence of the world. In the story, Gideon, the black man that the
white family, the Farquars, hired as a servant stood up for his culture in one of the most important
ways. In the story Gideon fixed Teddy s eyesight, the little boy, by using his special mixture of herbs
and spices. Later the Farquars bring a scientist to talk to Gideon to convince him to tell them his
secret. They even offered him money to give up which root it was that saved little Teddy s eyesight.
There was silence after the further explanation, and then Gideon remarked indifferently that he could
not remember the root (1334). Gideon was not comfortable giving up his secret for anything, not even
wealth. Gideon even felt a little betrayed by the Farquars for bringing the scientist to him. Nothing in
the world was going to make Gideon give up his cultural secrets. The cultural conflict lies because the
Europeans want more control, and power over the African Americans, and their cultures. The
Europeans want their way to win, because they want to have power over the other culture (Scola).

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of White Privilege
In our world today, White privilege is an existing matter. White privilege can be defined as advantages
that assist white individuals in flourishing and gaining success. Privilege is in and of itself a struggle
to equality. The advantages in privilege display the inequality that is in our society towards those who
are not white. We as a society usually do not see the inequality in the opportunity and quality of life
amongst those of different races, and this results from the fact of wealthy white counterparts being in
control and in power since the birth of this nation. White privilege is something most do not think
about and is not fully identified in our daily lives. People of color suffer the most from obtaining
privilege in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of our History has been consistently recorded by the winners (whites) and that those who
succeed and hold the most power can choose to recognize what they wish and cold shoulder the minor
and undesirable technicalities. With the ideology of white privilege, white men created the domination
of white privilege centuries ago particularly controlled by whites. White privileged men established
the approach of domination from their position and power of their skin tone, granting them the
authority in society. Although a great number of white Americans do not tediously rely on these
interest; they have been taking advantage of this privileges for numerous centuries. But those who are
not white have been declined in countless cases, whether from achieving a distinct job, to simply
gaining comparable treatment as those who are not colored individuals. In the article, The Persistent
Problem of Colorism: Skin Tone, Status, and Inequality by Hunter, She states Skin color continues to

Mental Health And Human Service
Introduction
Social work practice is a profession which requires many knowledge bases which overlap in different
contexts. Mental health is a knowledge base that social workers must acquire in vast quantity and
quality, as it can appear in any health and human service in which they work in. The ability to work
with those with mental illness within health and human service is paramount. This requires the
capacity to work with and within the individual s environment, recognise, comprehend and respond,
with appropriate and relevance to present and foreseeable needs and impacts.
Working within a case study of the fictitious Mary Jalco, social work practice will explored. This will
include an assessment and intervention plan from the social work perspective, social work values and
ethics and critical reflection on the health and human service for the mentally ill within a social work
context. The challenges of working with the mentally ill will also be examined, accompanied by
strategies to help overcome them. At Sunnydale Public Hospital in the geriatric ward my role is within
a multi disciplinary team as a class 1 social worker. My role and responsibilities are outlined in
Appendix A.

What Does Trifles Mean
The true definition of the world trifle is something of very little value or importance. Trifles is a story
about a small group of people trying to solve the mystery of why a woman killed her husband. Two
women named Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale are helping the two men, the sheriff and the county attorney,
find Mrs. Wright s motive to kill her husband. The women begin to find small details that reveals
plenty of information that could be useful in the investigation of the murder. These small details that
the women find around Mrs. Wright s home are Trifles to the men. As Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale
search around the house, Mrs. Peters finds a birdcage in a cupboard. Mrs. Hale finds a dead bird
wrapped in a box with its neck broken, and in finding this, they come to the realization that Mrs.
Wright killed her husband because he killed her bird. The women know that Mrs. Wright s husband
did not enjoy her singing and he would never allow her to have a bird because it sang too.
While searching a cupboard for some sewing supplies to fix a poorly sewn quilt, Mrs. Hale finds a
birdcage tucked away inside of it. The birdcage that Mrs. Hale finds is the most symbolic object that
reveals the motive for the crime. A birdcage can be symbol of confinement or imprisonment. Mrs.
Hale says, No, Wright wouldn t like the bird a thing that sang. She used to sing. He killed that, too
(781). Mrs. Hale compares Mrs. Wright to a bird in the sense that birds sing but Mr. Wright does not
want her

Love and Death in Keats La Belle Dame Sans Merci
In poetry the most important things are to express feelings and to tell a story. Obviously most of the
time these poems are about life, death, the meaning of life, love, but it can also tell a complete story.
Throughout the history, basically every poet has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While reading the title, we already get to know that the main plot will be about some kind of a tragic
love.
First of all, the poem deals with the comparison of different kind of feelings. Love and death are
incredibly close to each other in this poem, actually they complement each other. Love is like a great
power, which can destruct everything, defencelessness is the main goal of this feeling. Beauty is just
an illusion, and all illusions are just nightmares. The ballad shows, that nothing is certain, permanent,
love can disappear in a second. Moreover, destruction and creation are really close to each other. In a
nutshell, we can see that love and death are the two main feelings, which are linked to each other in
every period of life. Secondly, the atmosphere, the places are also very significant in the poem. The
setting of the poem is like a medieval tale with fairies, knights and unrealistic places. Obviously, the
ballad starts with autumn like pictures, there are no birds, which are the symbols of the lack of love.
The nature is not the symbol of life in the first and second stanzas, it is the symbol of death. The
knight, the main character, who should be a strong, brave man, is now wandering aimlessly, he is pale,
he has a fever, which can be the sign of sickness, death. Because of the fact that it is autumn, it is not
surprising, that even the lively characters are colourless,

Cross Country Descriptive Writing
Gunshots, screaming, thumping of footsteps, sweat, heavy breathing, heat, cold, puking, nerves
running crazy all common sounds and feelings felt by a cross country athlete. Cross country is a nerve
racking sport, along with good times, and making relationships with teammates that will last a
lifetime.
Some meets are in the afternoon, usually making for a hot, humid day to race. Other meets are in the
morning, making for a stiff, chilling to the bone type of run. Either way, each type of climate for the
races has its own challenges. The Saturday morning races, teammates gather up on the bright blue tarp
to huddle together under blankets and discuss their dread for the nearing race. Granola bar wrappers
and Dixie Cups cover the ground around the tarp. Afternoon races, fresh off the bus, everyone gathers
around and talks about their day, the dreadful heat, and how hungry or tired they are. The coolers
filled with Gatorade or water are set up side by side, waiting to be used non stop after the race. The
coaches say, Let s go! and the team heads over to the starting line. ... Show more content on

Nephropore Areas Of Sexually Mature Lobster Case Study
This article was referenced in 5.1 Hay et al, and its focus is around studying nephropore areas of
sexually mature lobsters. The goal behind this study is to better identify the presence of these
structures which are known to produce chemical signals in conjunction with the release of their urine.
In the lobster Homarus Americanus, urine signals are used as a form of chemical communication,
males use urine in the determination of dominance over other males as well as to allow females choice
of dominant males. On the other hand Homarus Americanus females urine actually reduces the
incidence of male aggression and increases male mating behavior. This article is more focused on the
masses of rosette glands identified from all animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any figures beyond the set up of these dissections are just to help illustrate what the Rosette glands
actually looked like, or a better understanding of the anatomy behind a cross sectioned nephropore (fig
2a b). The results from these cross section figures showed that rosette glands could be identified in the
nephropre areas of every examined lobster. Subtle differences were found within these rosettes, one
example being the cells within the rosettes either being rounded with many secretory granules, or
thinner cells with smaller granules with spaces between the cells. Other rosettes were more organized
into clusters of different sizes, and found within the connective tissue. These clusters were categorized
into two separate gland complexes, on medial to the ureter and the other later (fig 3a b). Other
experiments focused on within this article looked at the size and orientation of these gland complexes
in an effort to better understand subtle differences from the normal nephropores, one example being
some lobsters having anterior clusters which release the product a different way. Although this was far
from the norm of the lobsters studied, they found that the glands appeared to be released through the
exterior of the animal, not via the urinary bladder like every other nephropore complex. One other
hypothesis tested was that nephropore rosette glands produce a bacteriostatic

Background of the Catholic Church Essay
Background
In the Western world, the schism within the Catholic Church has made its most significant impact due
to rapid changes in social standards. Of greatest importance is the evolution of modern society and
their response to the reverberated traditions of the Catholic Church as well as the evolving Protestant
sects. In consequence of increases in technology and science, modern society has redefined its
acceptable and moral behavioral standards within a social setting, whereas, the Catholic Church stands
firm in its doctrines despite social and moral movements in the twentieth century. Except for the
Second Vatican Council and the Council of Trent, the Roman Catholic Church has not worked to

I don t believe that religious conversions need to take place, rather religious communication and
understanding. The intolerance perpetuated by Catholicism is a feeling that I had at one point
entertained in accordance with my Church s attitude. It is only now, after exploring other religious
services, I realize the ignorance that intolerance perpetuates and I have grown spiritually from this
revelation.
Upon these grounds I propose that it is reasonable and necessary to draw parallels between Protestant
and Catholic religious services as a start to narrow the gap between Catholics and Protestants. It is in
this acknowledgment of apparent similarities in worship that Protestants and Catholics would be able
to appreciate each other for what they believe both religiously and socially. Whether or not people
realize this point, religion even while separated from the state, influences how each individual
approaches and interacts with another. The split between religion and state widened a gap within
humanity. By fostering new relationships and new parallels within differing religions, this gap will
begin to close.
Since the Protestant Churches arose due to the Reformation and a separation from the authority of the
Roman Catholic Church, there may exist Protestant rituals that parallel Catholic rituals. Moreover, by

Xanthias Xanthias is a character that appears in Aristophanes comedy, The Frogs. He is the slave to
Dionysus and also sort of like a companion/advisor. The whole comedic aspect of the story hinges on
Xanthias being smarter than Dionysus and constantly correcting the stuff he does. A great example is

The Moral Imperative Of William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Self Reflection To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou cans t not be
false to any man. Shakespeare, Hamlet. To live an authentic way of life, you must know yourself and
act accordingly. This is the moral imperative throughout the history of the study of human behavior.
Existentialist believed that authenticity is critically important in understanding well being and freedom
from psychopathology. The quote from William Shakespeare means that one must be honest in his
ways and relations. When we are being inauthentic, we are not congruent with our values, preferences,
and abilities. We tend to feel out of sync even things seem to be right or ideal. Our actions and feelings
are not connected. We show people around us such as relatives, friends, neighbors, and co workers
that we are living the perfect life. We are great actors, living the fake life. Authenticity is defined the
unimpeded operation of one s true or core self in ones daily enterprise . To be authentic requires
awareness and knowledge about own self. People who are authentic have a clear understanding about
their strength and weaknesses. They are accountable. They are connected to their own values and
desires and act appropriately in ways that are consistent with their qualities. Being Authentic means
being real and genuine. It allows us to connect deeply with others because it requires us to be
transparent and vulnerable. Authenticity is important because it liberates us from

Noise Sensitivity Essay
For many people, noises in the environment may not be an annoyance, but for others who are noise
sensitive it can have several numbers of negative effects. There are some cause effects such as
difficulties concentrating in the classroom, at work, and/or personal life. It can also go as far as
causing internal organs damage. For example, the learning process of a child facing this disorder could
be more difficult, according to Tremmel a child s brain has to work overtime in a noisy classroom to
do its typical, but, very important job of distinguishing sounds whose subtle differences are the key to
success with language and reading . Even though, from early age people learn how to localize and
identify different sounds that will help them throughout their life, there are some people that suffer
from noise sensitivity and it can make their life a bit hard, because certain functions of their brain can
be affected. Noise Sensitivity (NS) is a physiological and psychological internal state in which the
noise level of certain things can be uncomfortable for an individual in doing their daily tasks. In the
research paper by Kliuchko, et al. (2016), he states that the human ear and brain come together to

Victor Martinez s Parrot In The Oven
The title of this book is called Parrot in the Oven and is an extended metaphor that means there is a
parrot who is complaining about being too hot in the shade when he is actually in the oven. Meaning,
Manny used to be ignorant, but he no longer is because of the events he went through. Victor
Martinez, the author of Parrot in the Oven is a Bildungsroman because the character Manny grows up
throughout the story by learning through racism, social hierarchy, seeing gang activity, and watching
Eddie go down the wrong path. Manny will begin to realize that he wants to change his life around.
Manny learns his first lesson through hierarchy and racism. Manny watched a boxing match between a
Mexican and a black boy, and it is extremely racially intense. At the end of the chapter Manny had to
take off Lencho s gloves because nobody else would do it for him. Manny said, They said that he

that Eddie is starting to pick up character traits like his father and Manny cannot turn out to be like his
own dad. Manny knows that he does not want to throw away his life so he turns it around because he
knows what the outcome will be if he does not change.

Lastly, Kate becomes less angry from the start of the play to the end. She is angry about how her sister
Bianca is the only one who gets attention by suitors and how her father favors Bianca more. For
example, Kate was angry at Bianca for not knowing what suitor she wanted to marry, so she tied
Bianca s hands up and threaten her. Baptista walked in on her being mean to Bianca and stuck up for
Bianca and not for Kate. He didn t even try to listen to Kate which made her even angrier
(Shakespeare, 2.1). In this instance, Kate shows how she gets angry over Bianca having more suitors
and Baptista stick up for only Bianca but not for her. She gets mad because she is not getting heard or

If you had told me in 2002 that 15 years later Donald Trump would be president, Kid Rock would be

A few days ago, new political activist and rapper Eminem, let out some rage towards Donald Trump in
a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm on the BET Hip Hop Awards. If you are familiar with
Eminem, it shouldn t surprise you that there is fair amount of vulgarity and graphic imagery in the

Projects as open systems (identifying the project nature in systems terms)
Systems thinking and project management evolved together from meeting the same challenges during
the 1950s (Winch, 2010). The system approach helps to understand the complexity of the processes
and the interrelationships with them. (Walker A. , 2015).
Ackoff (1969) considers system as:
An entity, conceptual or physical, which consists of interdependent parts. Each of a system s elements
is connected to every other element, directly or indirectly, and no sub set of elements is unrelated to
any other sub set .
Walker (2007, p. 67) states that systems theory helps to explain how the project management process
should be structured and hence how the various firms and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types describe the extent of interaction between project actors. Pooled interdependency means,
that actors do not interact straightly, but contribute individual pieces to the whole. Even though they
are not directly linked, their performance affects each other. Sequential interdependency has a serial
form. There is the direct interdependency of units on each other: the output of the entity becomes the
input for the followed one. Both parts make contributions to and are sustained by the whole. In case of
reciprocal interdependency, the outputs of each become the inputs for the others, but not in a serial
form. Each unit poses contingency for the other. Reciprocal interdependency has the highest level of
complexity and dominates in construction projects, which shows the need for the highest level of
integration. (Baccarini, 1996)
Thompson (1967) suggests that sequential interdependency consists of the elements of pooled
interdependency, whereas reciprocal interdependency embraces the elements of both pooled and
sequential. This shows the links between the types of interdependence.

Mars Solar Exchange
Just six days before Valentina s scheduled landing, the Earth Space Center observed a strong corona
mass ejection, which was caused by the differential rotation of the sun, pointing at the direction of
Mars. The distorted magnetic field of the sun created a solar flare at the corona, and subsequently
released large amount of electromagnetic radiation and charged particles (EurekAlert 2010). The
energy released by a corona mass ejection could be as great as 1020 J (NASA, What is a Solar Flare?
n.d.). The charged particles were ejected at a speed of 500 km/s, and the charged particles would reach
Valentina s spacecraft in five days. Engineers gathered in the space center and discussed if Valentina s
spacecraft would be affected. Five days passed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wernher admitted that current satellites were vulnerable, but he highly doubted the probability for the
Mars to be directly hit by a corona mass ejection. He told Valentina that more research need to be done
to see if a new communication satellite network is necessary.
Three weeks later, Wernher informed Valentina that his research team concluded that the risk for Mars
communication satellites to be destroyed during solar activities were too small, so the Mars Base
would not launch any new communication satellites in the near future. Valentina was not convinced.
She was so afraid that Mars would loss contact with Earth so that she could no longer hear Jebediah s
voice. Disappointed by the Research and Development department, she decided to launch her
construct her own communication network. She asked the Head of Operations, Gus, for help. Gus
looked up the launch schedules and found that there would be a test launch for the newly developed
methane based first stage booster rocket. During the test launch, the experimental booster would enter
the low orbit and then land back to the Mars Base.
Gus told Valentina that she could launch a communication satellite as the payload

PE Investment Analysis
In the last decade, PE has emerged as a significant source of capital for funding infrastructure projects.
Traditionally, equity for infrastructure projects was typically contributed by the sponsors and
developers of the project. A major portion of the project investment was often obtained through debt
financing, which accounted for about 6o% 7o% of the total investment required. Non sponsor
investment has been largely in the form of debt, except in the case of public equity offerings. The rise
of PE investment has led to the availability of a new pool of capital for infrastructure projects, where
the need for capital is substantial. Unlike other external sources of funding, PE investors are active
investors. They usually provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An inference from this is that governments should not only create conditions to facilitate foreign PE
investment, but they should also take bold steps to develop the domestic PE industry. The presence of
a strong domestic PE industry would be a catalyst to attract further foreign PE investment. A large
proportion of investments in our sample consisted of single investor deals. The study of solely
financed and syndicated deals highlighted the main motivations for syndication. The average
investment amount in syndicated deals was higher than that of deals where there was only a single
investor. However, there were no significant differences in the state variables between sole and
syndicated deals. This showed that both sole and syndicated deals were taking place in similar
operating environments. If the motivation of syndication was to leverage the diverse expertise among
the investors with a view to reducing risk, then syndicated deals would have been expected in riskier
environments, for example in states where the level of corruption was higher or the PRI value was
lower. Since this has not been the case, we feel that capital pooling in order to fund larger projects has
been the main motivation for syndication, rather than the ability to assume a higher level of operating
environment risk. The overall characteristics of the operating environment also play an important role
in attracting PE investment. Regional analysis shows that the East had the lowest

Atrial Fibrillation Essay
Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of heart arrhythmia and often called AFib or AF. It is
defined as the irregular rhythm of the heartbeat. During AFib, the heart can beat too fast or too slow.
This irregular heartbeat can lead to stroke or other heart related complications.
The heart is controlled by an electrical system of the heart. This electrical system (Figure 1.1) of the
heart includes several functions which hold the contraction of the heart muscles. The SA node starts
the heartbeat by contracting the upper two chambers of the heart known as atria. This electrical
impulse travels through bundle bunches and Purkinje fibers. This pathway of electrical impulse
contracts the lower chamber of the heart called as ventricles. From ... Show more content on

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation occurs sometimes and then stops by itself. In this type of atrial
fibrillation, the abnormal electrical signals of heart and rapid heartbeat begin suddenly and they last
for less than 24 hours. This type of atrial fibrillation is a result of extreme stress.
Persistent atrial fibrillation usually lasts longer than a week and sometimes it doesn t stop by itself.
During this type of AF, heart rate changes may change from slow to fast and back again in small
period of time. Medications or low voltage electrical shock called cardioversion is used to cure the
persistent atrial fibrillation.
In Permanent or chronic AFib, normal heart rhythm can t be restored with any kind of treatment. This
type of atrial fibrillation needs long term medication to regulate the heart rate and reduce the chances
of heart stroke. Paroxysmal and Persistent AF are more frequent and over time results in permanent
atrial fibrillation. [7]
The major cause of atrial fibrillation is an excessive amount of alcohol, being overweight and
consumption of illegal drugs such as amphetamines or cocaine.

throughout the film and he ended up redeeming himself for all his mistakes. The first encounter that
Edward has was with Karl. In a way, Edward solved Ashton problem with the giant, but it was

Steven Johnson Watching Tv Makes You Smarter Analysis
In Steven Johnson s persuasive essay Watching Tv Makes You Smarter, he defies what our culture
teaches us about television. Our society teaches that television is making our youth dumb and that our
culture enjoys the simple pleasures so that is what the media companies are feeding us with. But,
Johnson states that based on what the show 24 suggests, the exact opposite is happening: the culture is
getting more cognitively demanding, not less (1). The growing interest of TV programs with complex
mental faculties involves three primary elements: multiple threading, flashing arrows and social
networks (2). Multi threading in the media world began in 1981 with the arrival of the show Hill

The Harmonicus Culture of Hong Kong
What place has the best harmony of the east and the west in the world do you think? The Middle East?
Southeast Asia? or China town in the US? I think Hong Kong has the best harmonious culture in the
world because it was a part of England and China, and many people from Hong Kong can speak
English and Chinese. Even until now, China is not much open as many other liberal economy
countries, but Hong Kong is. According to Milton Friedman who is one of the famous economies in
the world, and who were awarded the Novel Prize in Economic Sciences, Hong Kong is a good
example of the free market system. Therefore, Hong Kong has been influenced many different
cultures, and it becomes one of the harmoniest countries in the world. It became independent from
England, but it has not been included China yet, so it has very distinctive culture. It was established in
July 1st 1997 and would be a part of China 50 years after 1997 (Hong Kong Basic Law). Hong Kong
rapidly developed social systems and economy in 1980. Therefore, there are many similarities and
differences between 1980 and now. First, old Hong Kong and now Hong Kong have similarities in
culture, especially movie industry. Hong Kong is one of the most famous movie stars home town such
as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Sammo Hung. In fact, Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, and he
lived and went to school in the US, but he went Hong Kong when he was 3 year old baby and grew up

Ivanhoe Analysis
Even Without Capes Ivanhoe was written by Sir Walter Scott in 1819. Set in England, between the
towns of Sheffield and Doncaster, Ivanhoe occurred during the end of the Third Crusade. At this time,
England was under the temporary rule of Prince John. Prince John sided with Philip of France to
ensure that his brother, King Richard, was kept in captivity by the Duke of Austria. He feared Richard
and was horrified by the prospect of his brother s return, as he wanted England under his own rule. In
Ivanhoe, King Richard eventually escaped from his imprisonment and returned to England. He waited
for the reinforcement of his allies to reclaim his throne. Even though he was a Norman, Richard
helped the rival Saxons. He wanted to end the dissension between these groups as the Saxons felt
oppressed by their Norman conquerors. He also obtained help from the Saxons to defeat untrustworthy
Norman leaders. Known as Coeur de Lion, Richard was actually extremely similar to Beowulf.
Beowulf was a powerful warrior, who travelled to aid the Danish King, Hrothgar, in the defeat of
Grendel. Grendel was a monster, who had overtaken Hrothgar s great mess hall. For twelve years,
Grendel ravaged Heorot. Beowulf decided to save the Danes from this man devourer. King Richard
and Beowulf were both heroes. A superhero is defined as an exceptionally skillful or successful
person. Both King Richard and Beowulf were courageous while facing their rivals, loyal to others, and
skilled warriors. One

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Interventions for Psychosis
Psychosocial treatments for schizophrenia are not new in the research literature. Psychological
treatments have been previously used in the treatment of schizophrenia. For example in terms of
behaviour therapy, operant approaches such as token economy programmes were used in the 1960s
and 1970s to improve the behaviour of patients in long stay hospitals. However, the evidence suggests
that the clinical gains were limited and did not generalise beyond the therapeutic setting and also did
not address delusional convictions (Alford 1986; Himadi et al 1991). Other psychological treatments
for schizophrenia can be traced to early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These interventions are also beneficial to relatives, and are effective in improving the quality of the
family environment (Penn Mueser 1996). Psychosocial interventions are aimed at empowering
patients, and, as Slade Haddock (1996) have pointed out, since the 1980s, the task of the therapist was
no longer to change the behaviour of the patient but rather to help the client to change their own
behaviour, if they wish to do so .
This chapter provides an overview of family interventions and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
for psychotic symptoms. There has been a lot of research and clinical interest in the effectiveness of
CBT for patients with psychosis. Unfortunately, the provision of family interventions in routine
services has been disappointing, despite vigorous training programmes. Notwithstanding some notable
exceptions in the UK, such as Bath (Smith Velleman, 2002) and Somerset (Stanbridge et al, 2003),
increasing the availability of family work remains a challenge for most service providers.
The aim is not to provide a comprehensive academic review of family interventions and CBT for
serious mental illness. Instead, it is to give the reader an overview of the state of research and
developments of recent research studies. This chapter also tries to condense the available

The existence of God Based on Religious Experience Essay
1. Examine the strengths and weaknesses of the argument for the existence of God based on religious
experience. (18) 2. The argument merely indicates the probability of God and this is of little value to a
religious believer. Discuss. (12)
In contrast to the classical arguments for the existence of God, namely the ontological, cosmological
and teleological arguments, the argument from religious experience doesn t just entail a set logical of
points arriving at a conclusion on a piece of paper, rather it also necessitates sense based experience,
tangible to the individual who experiences the divine.
First and foremost, we must classify the argument from religious experience.
In general, philosophical arguments usually take one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James lists four qualifiers of mystical experiences: ineffability (a state that defies description), noetic
quality (revelations of universal and eternal truths), transiency (a brief but profoundly important
experience) and passivity (a feeling of being taken over by a superior authority).
The father of liberal theology, Schleiermacher, made passivity the most important qualifier. He took
the concept a step further and proposed that the essence of religion is the feeling of absolute
dependence and this approach was supported by scholars such as Rudolf Otto, who defined religious
experience as wholly other .
For Schleiermacher, in particular, and, additionally, the Islamic mystic Al Ghazali, true religion was
completely experiential and it should therefore be felt rather than thought. He believed that logic
destroys religious experience because religious experience is a matter of intuitive knowledge, not
processed knowledge. Intuition is belief, where as logic creates doubts. In many spiritual systems
(religious or independent of religion) the human instinct is held in high regard. It was for this reason
that Iqbal, the late Islamic philosopher of the modern era, disagreed with Al Ghazali.
Religious experience is a very important concept for those who believe that way to know God is to
experience Him. There is a spiritual, mystical dimension to all the world religions in fact, the Eastern
religions rely

Grow Temperature Research Paper
Discussion
This study depicted that common wombat burrows provide a constant temperature 1 2m from the
entrance within four different habitats open field, forested, short ground cover and sandy bank during
both summer and autumn. However, noticeable differences in the temperatures between the seasons
were observed. Although, this was expected as the insulating properties of the soil stop daily, but not
seasonal, fluctuations in temperature from a depth of approximately 0.30cm (Reichman Smith 1990),
with the main factors that did influence burrow temperatures being time of day, elevation during
summer and aspect during autumn. There are few studies in the literature that display the influences of
elevation and aspect on burrow temperatures so these may present novel findings that might impact
burrow location or use. The general outcome that burrow temperatures remain constant while
temperatures outside the burrow fluctuate, however, is supported in many studies of different species.

These stable temperatures within the burrow coincide with many previous studies conducted on other
burrowing animals, with all studies agreeing that the temperatures are constant daily but have a
gradual seasonal change. This presents strong evidence that burrows maintain a consistent
microhabitat that is effective in providing shelter from weather extremes, thereby allowing burrows to
be regarded as an appropriate mechanism of thermal tolerance. The influence temperature has on
wombat behaviour cannot be fully addressed due to the declining wombat population at the study site,
however, it may be attributed to the small ambient temperature ranges that were experienced not
having a significant impact on wombat presence in this

Mobile Phones And The Internet
1) Telecommunications is an industry that is rapidly growing and changing. Any communication using
technology can be considered telecommunications, but the phone and internet are the two most
commonly thought of forms. It is becoming increasingly common for both internet and phone features
to be accessed on a single device. Smartphones, mobile phones that are internet capable, have only
been available for a relatively short time. Despite this, their popularity has exploded and their features
are changing the world in many ways. Much like with mobile phones in general, consumers were
quick to adopt smartphones. In 1984 only 92,000 Americans subscribed to mobile phone services; 16
years later almost 110 million were subscribed to these same services. As of the end of 2008, about
270 million Americans were using mobile phone services (Federal Communications Commission,
2010). Recent research indicates that smartphones now outsell mobile phones that aren t able to access
the internet and make up 53.6 percent of total mobile phone sales (Gartner, Inc., 2014). The popularity
and capabilities of these new smartphones are opening up new markets and changing the ways that
businesses are attempting to reach consumers. It is estimated that half of Americans over the age of 18
currently own a smartphone and that half of them access social media with these devices (Armstrong
Kotler, 2014). This has created a new and effective way of marketing to consumers that many

Such sentiments prevailed in the minds until the 19th century. In Russia, folk methods of treating
impotence were popular. One of the recipes advised men to smear the man parts with a mixture of deer
fat and chopped chicken hearts. In the late 19th century, scientific approach to the problem of sexual
disorders appeared. American William Hammond, in 1883, wrote his Sexual impotence in the male
and called early sex and masturbation the main reasons for ED. The scientist suggested the young men
to refuse sex life up to 21 years, and limit the number of sexual acts to three a month. As the ED
treatment, William Hammond suggested the abstention for a year. At the same time, moxibustion
therapy with nettles and electrical stimulation were developed. In the 20th century, the struggle against
male impotence became more efficient. Masturbation was justified, and doctors divided the causes of
ED into psychological and physical. An enormous role was given to the background diseases that
provoke impotence. The medicine made a huge step forward. There was a set of effective methods of
treatment, which gave positive results in 95 % of cases, and the men returned to the joy of sexual life.
For the treatment of psychological ED, hypnosis was actively used in 60s. Since 1982, doctors
prescribed a special injection into the penis. Since 1985, vasodilators came to the rescue. At the

The Schlieffen plan was made started in 1894 by the German Chief of Staff Alfred von Schlieffen in

Symbolism In Frankenstein
The lessons the monster learns from the De Lacey family play an important role in the monsters
coming of age in Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein. The De Lacey family is a poor family that the
creature has been watching from the outside for some time now. Eventually, he wants to make an
appearance to the family and show himself to get help. The perfect time is to knock at the door when
nobody is home, except for the old man. All the monster wants is somebody who will accept him and
care for him. As shown in Frankenstein, there is a strong symbolism in which the old man is blind and
can t see the monster. Yet, he accepts him for who he is, while the rest of the De Lacey family harm
him and beat him. Symbolism is also shown with the De Lacey family and their cottage. It has a
strong representation with the Garden of Eden as the cottage acts as the garden. The novel
Frankenstein has many different symbolic elements to it while being connected to the De Lacey s,
including the symbolism of the blind man, the way the monster reacts as the humans react to his looks,
and the comparison to the Garden of Eden. As shown throughout several chapters of Frankenstein, the
old man gives the monster affection and shows that he ll care for him. He was never able to judge the
monster by the way he looked, but only on the way he acted. As the old man said, I am blind and
cannot judge of your countenance, but there is something in your words which persuades me that you

One of the most relevant arguments for claiming that the film is good enough to recommend it is that
the film has authorship personality; that is, throughout the movie audience may realise that there are
lots of Burton s characteristic features: such as the visual style, contrasting the pastel colours (blue,
green, orange, and pink) in the houses of Spring Hopes, with the Gothic ones (mainly black) in
Edward s clothes and castle. It seems Edward is brought to the neighbourhood to show that there is
another valid lifestyle; the otherness has to be accepted even though it seems to be too bizarre at first.
Furthermore, the exploration of the otherness and the characters, such as Edward, who exist outside
the boundaries of normality is a topic that is highly relevant, because it may show the audience that no
matter how different a thing is, all that it is important is that is good enough for you. Edward
Scissorhands, summing up, is a good film because it has an interior meaning, that is, it makes the
audience think outside the box, and extract a useful moral from the

Examples Of Cultural Relativist
Introduction
This journal chosen is Cultural Relativist and Feminist Critiques of International Human Rights
Friends or Foes? By Oonagh Reitman (1997) discuss about the similarities between two critiques of
international human rights, Cultural Relativist and Feminist. The journal highlights comparing the
Cultural Relativist and Feminist of Human Rights. In further, we can see these critiques, the Cultural
Relativist and the Feminist have come to oppose each other world of women s international rights.
In the cultural relativist critique, the critique is made of the claim that human rights are universal, that
human rights are those held simply by virtue of being human and whose substance, form and
interpretation are not subject to variations in culture. But, in the cultural relativist reject this claim,
because cultural relativist claim that the source of human rights is culture, and since the ... Show more

We can see the reservation from the emergence ratification of the Convention. The ratification was
women can be able to work towards the goal gender elimination. But, although there is ratification,
still there is resistance from the reserving state to exempt to having comply part of the document. The
resistance comes from varied nature based on religious law and customary practices.
The cultural relativism also gives negative impact in the implementation women s human rights. The
cultural relativism can sees as the obstacle on the protection of women s human rights. To explain
cultural relativist as obstacle, it needs to distinguish between obstacle of the women s rights who are
citizen of reserving states and those who are not. But, both of them, the resistance from cultural
relativism also based on religious objections. For those reserved states will affect to weaken women s
rights. Because they still to cling their value cultural

When an author writes a piece of work, they go through...
When an author writes a piece of work, they go through several drafts before they feel that their work
is complete enough to be published. This process of rereading, rewriting, and reediting is known as
revisions. Professional authors can do a large amount of revisions; some authors do as many as 150
revisions (Murray 327). Throughout my writing career in school, I have only done two drafts: the
rough and final draft. As I have continued my studies in school, revisions have become more
important, and will only better myself for my future schooling and career. One of the biggest struggles
I have been conflicted with as a writer is grammar. I tend to misuse commas a lot, which on my essays
were labeled comma splices. In the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here is the paragraph: After this experience, Julie realized that as an artist you need to expand on your
creative imagination. You need to remember to include your audience as a part of the experience that
you are sharing with them. Another point to consider as an artist is to take a less traveled path, let the
piece of art you are working on take you to an unknown area. I had the same problem for my
rhetorical analysis essay. For example, VH1 s Save the
Music website is more appealing to the eye, with videos, pictures, vibrant colors, and convenient links
to better inform you on its purpose. It took me up to the last essay to fully realize that I was using you
in just about all of them. The essay where I used you the most was my persuasive essay. I was
focusing the essay on a certain group of people, but the audience who was reading does not know that,
so I should not have used you. For example I wrote, With knowing the truth about whether the love of
your life is cheating on you will bring you some relief. I should have used another third person plural.
Another process that I have struggled with as a writer is my form. In my previous writing classes, I
have always done well with form. My MLA format has always been spot on, I write good thesis
statements, and topic sentences. This semester seems different; it might be because I Deskin 2 got a
new computer that uses a different software besides Microsoft Word or that I

The Water Of The Developed World Water
Water in the Favelas For most of the developed world water is a resource that is quickly lost in the
back of the minds of individuals. Water in this realm of living isn t a concern, the struggle to find
drinking water, the struggle to have water for clothes washing, and the struggle to have clean water for
cooking are all virtually non existent. What happens when we step out of this realm of living? How do
people that live in a world that in many ways is industrialized and in many ways still third world
function when it comes to the resources that are utilized on a daily basis? When people are given
access to a resource do they use it responsibly or do they use it out of blind consumption.
For our purposes we will be focusing on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The how and the when are now left, but the how of wastefulness and conservation is going to be the
main focus out of the two.
In going forward with the research it is important to understand what Favelas actually are. In the
Encyclopedia Brittanica Jeff Wallenfeldt describes Favelas as, a slum or shantytown located within or
on the outskirts of the country s large cities, especially Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. A Favela
typically comes into being when squatters occupy vacant land at the edge of a city and construct
shanties of salvaged or stolen materials (Wallenfeldt). At last census count there were 30 plus favelas
in the city of Rio de Janeiro. There is almost 1.4 million people living in the Favelas of Rio (Instituto
Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística). For most of the residents of Favelas, the Favelas act as a live,
work, play environment. Most people own small businesses within the Favela.
It is also important to note the racial makeup of the Favela to better understand who really is living in
the Favela and how or if there is any racial importance to the research. In 2012 a whopping 83% of the
Favela population was of color, indicative of most urban cities racial breakdown (Instituto Brasileiro
de Geografia e Estatística). It is also important to recognize the actual amount of water within the
country of Brazil. Brazil is estimated to have 55,460 square km of fresh water (IndexMundi.com).
This will help going forward knowing the hard

Comparing The Flea and Valentine Essay
Comparing The Flea and Valentine
The flea is a metaphysical poem about a man trying to argue a virgin into bed to have sexual
intercourse with him. This poem was most likely written to amuse the readers and probably more for a
larger male audience. The poem was written in the late 17th century in a period where sex within
marriage was like a household chore, but socially, sex before marriage was like a sin, because society
was extremely religious. John Donne is attempting to get these thoughts out of her head and persuade
her to have sex with him.
Metaphysical poets use a lot of elaborate and extended comparisons.
They wrote energetic and vigorous poems that went against the common literature of the time.
There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poet points out that losing her virginity is not a sin.
A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead
He tries to reverse her views that both society and herself share. He is very persuasive in this poem
and uses the flea many times as a symbol of their sexual union and uses many metaphors. He uses
many sly phrases also which could easily win his argument and I feel it is making her feel guilty and
starting to make her confused and think about the prospects of them having sex.
I think that during the end of the first stanza the poet starts to become quite theatrical.
Yet this enjoys it before it woo, And pamper d swells in one blood made of two; And this, alas! Is
more than we would do.
This could be referring to sex. The flea enjoys the blood and so does the man enjoy foreplay. The
pamper d swells could be that of sexual organs before sex and yet, because that is not happening, the
flea is having a better time at the moment than he is, by sucking their blood.
I think that by using this comparison, John Donne is being very intellectual and at this point I feel he
may win his argument.
The second stanza, John Donne becomes weaker as the girl starts to defend herself and he tries to
convey his love for her.
John Donne, in this stanza I feel becomes more intimate and uses alliteration and much more poetic
techniques. At the beginning of the second stanza, I would assume that the girl has got up and left him.

World War One Is Severely Lacking Essay
Kennedy s Over Here is a perfect read for historians and those people that have more than basic
knowledge about World War One. However, my education about World War One is severely lacking.
Either the incompetence of my high school education or the incompetence of my memory in retaining
the knowledge learned, lead to the reading of this book being very difficult for me. Kennedy assumes
that the reader knows what certain terms mean, who specific people are, and that they are familiar
with the events of the war. He went so quickly through a lot of background about the war in the
prologue that it got a bit confusing. In fact, the author s organization of ideas throughout the whole
book made reading it more difficult. I feel like the organization of the thoughts or ideas presented left
many main points unconnected, and thus understanding was lacking. It seemed that once I started to
understand one factor he would then move on too quickly to another. For these reasons I struggled
with following the ideas and timeline. Even though his style/organization did not improve, I did
become more accustomed to it halfway through. At that point the book started to become more
interesting and informative to me. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read another
book by him previously, and was used to his writing style/ organization. Most of the author s
secondary sources are not current; this is both an asset and a hindrance. The antiquity of his secondary
sources meant he

Boarding School Vs Boarding Schools
Christmas, Hanukkah, spanish, Hindi, church ceremonies, and other cultural events and languages like
these our well known and loved, but could you imagine going to a school where you were not aloud to
speak and celebrate these holidays? Between 1879 1918 Carlisle Indian Industrial School kept native
children, stripped them of their culture and made them into what they feel is the average white person.
Yes some kids loved the school and benefits from the school, while other did not. Almost a century
later, a boarding school opened on the other side of the country for foster youth. San Pasqual Academy
opened in 2001, and has been the home for many foster youth over the years. SPA and CIIS have
many things in common and many things that are different. The end goal for both schools is to help
prepare their students for the outside world.
SPA has many success stories when it comes to their students going to college and making sure their
students have what they need to succeed. SPA provides independent living skills and helps students
learn money management, cooking, cleaning and how to do chores around the house. They help set
structure for the students so that they will be ready to live on their own. CIIS also made sure that their
students would be ready for the outside world. They taught the native boys about industrial skills so
that they will know how to work, and the females learned about home skills, such as baking, landry
and other house chores. Both schools taught their

Capacity Strategy Of Alden Products | Capacity Strategy of Alden Products, Inc. | Submitted by Varsha Advani (11349) | | | | | Capacity strategy should embody a mental model of how a firm works in a given industry and geographic region. There are a series of assumptions and predictions about the log term behaviour of markets, technologies, costs and competitor s behaviour. Such a model would include the following factors: * Predicted growth and variability of demand for the firm s products and services * Costs of building and operating different sized facilities * Likely rate and direction of technological evolution * Expected behaviour of competitors * Anticipated availability, capabilities and costs of external suppliers The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In terms of sizing of capacity increments taking into account scale considerations, the company should attain long term economies of scale. This scale refers to the economies that arise from using one large facility rather than a number of smaller ones. This often results in savings because the processing capacity is roughly proportional to its interior volume and its cost is more closely related to the surface area in terms of where the materials and labour hours are concentrated. We also know that though there is a growth in demand, variability exists across different countries. Greater the variability, there are chances that there would be a greater amount of underutilized capacity and at this stage opening a new plant in a different location altogether could make the entire scenario vulnerable. Drawbacks of not opening a new plant in Southern Europe are as follows: * Loose an opportunity to tap a lower cost labour market * Reduction in transportation costs had a new plant come up in Southern Europe * Would not be able to offset the protectionist sentiment in both France and Italy However, if we do an analysis of the options provided based on the cost and complications, this is what we get: | EXPANSION AT UNIPLANT | A NEW PLANT IN SOUTHERN EUROPE | Land cost | Dfl. 500,000 per hectare | Dfl. 4 million per hectare | Equipment Cost | Cost same for both | ... • 3. Summary Of No Witchcraft For Sale By Doris Lessing Accept Our Differences (A Discussion on three messages from Doris Lessing No Witchcraft for Sale.) Doris Lessing was born during the British Empire, and witnessed many of the injustices that were done upon the people of Rhodesia. She grew up and felt it was a part of her duty to write about social injustices. Leftist, fiercely independent, feminist, her characters, like Lessing herself, are social critics rebelling against the cultural restrictions of their societies (Gale). She had a deep desire to influence others through her literary works. She challenges the idea of race and women gender roles in most of her writings. She is also known for mostly writing fiction literary works. In Doris Lessing s literary work No Witchcraft for Sale she expresses three important messages about social issues during the Britain Empire. Doris Lessing s first message demonstrated in No Witchcraft for Sale is standing by your culture. Culture is an important aspect to all humans, no matter what race, or where you come from. Everyone experiences culture values that they grew up with and teach to generations down the line. The idea of culture has been around since the existence of the world. In the story, Gideon, the black man that the white family, the Farquars, hired as a servant stood up for his culture in one of the most important ways. In the story Gideon fixed Teddy s eyesight, the little boy, by using his special mixture of herbs and spices. Later the Farquars bring a scientist to talk to Gideon to convince him to tell them his secret. They even offered him money to give up which root it was that saved little Teddy s eyesight. There was silence after the further explanation, and then Gideon remarked indifferently that he could not remember the root (1334). Gideon was not comfortable giving up his secret for anything, not even wealth. Gideon even felt a little betrayed by the Farquars for bringing the scientist to him. Nothing in the world was going to make Gideon give up his cultural secrets. The cultural conflict lies because the Europeans want more control, and power over the African Americans, and their cultures. The Europeans want their way to win, because they want to have power over the other culture (Scola). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of White Privilege In our world today, White privilege is an existing matter. White privilege can be defined as advantages that assist white individuals in flourishing and gaining success. Privilege is in and of itself a struggle to equality. The advantages in privilege display the inequality that is in our society towards those who are not white. We as a society usually do not see the inequality in the opportunity and quality of life amongst those of different races, and this results from the fact of wealthy white counterparts being in control and in power since the birth of this nation. White privilege is something most do not think about and is not fully identified in our daily lives. People of color suffer the most from obtaining privilege in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of our History has been consistently recorded by the winners (whites) and that those who succeed and hold the most power can choose to recognize what they wish and cold shoulder the minor and undesirable technicalities. With the ideology of white privilege, white men created the domination of white privilege centuries ago particularly controlled by whites. White privileged men established the approach of domination from their position and power of their skin tone, granting them the authority in society. • 6. What Does Trifles Mean The true definition of the world trifle is something of very little value or importance. Trifles is a story about a small group of people trying to solve the mystery of why a woman killed her husband. Two women named Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale are helping the two men, the sheriff and the county attorney, find Mrs. Wright s motive to kill her husband. The women begin to find small details that reveals plenty of information that could be useful in the investigation of the murder. These small details that the women find around Mrs. Wright s home are Trifles to the men. As Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale search around the house, Mrs. Peters finds a birdcage in a cupboard. Mrs. Hale finds a dead bird wrapped in a box with its neck broken, and in finding this, they come to the realization that Mrs. Wright killed her husband because he killed her bird. The women know that Mrs. Wright s husband did not enjoy her singing and he would never allow her to have a bird because it sang too. While searching a cupboard for some sewing supplies to fix a poorly sewn quilt, Mrs. Hale finds a birdcage tucked away inside of it. The birdcage that Mrs. Hale finds is the most symbolic object that reveals the motive for the crime. A birdcage can be symbol of confinement or imprisonment. Mrs. Hale says, No, Wright wouldn t like the bird a thing that sang. She used to sing. He killed that, too (781). Love and Death in Keats La Belle Dame Sans Merci In poetry the most important things are to express feelings and to tell a story. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While reading the title, we already get to know that the main plot will be about some kind of a tragic love. First of all, the poem deals with the comparison of different kind of feelings. Love and death are incredibly close to each other in this poem, actually they complement each other. Love is like a great power, which can destruct everything, defencelessness is the main goal of this feeling. Beauty is just an illusion, and all illusions are just nightmares. The ballad shows, that nothing is certain, permanent, love can disappear in a second. Moreover, destruction and creation are really close to each other. In a nutshell, we can see that love and death are the two main feelings, which are linked to each other in every period of life. Secondly, the atmosphere, the places are also very significant in the poem. The setting of the poem is like a medieval tale with fairies, knights and unrealistic places. Obviously, the ballad starts with autumn like pictures, there are no birds, which are the symbols of the lack of love. The nature is not the symbol of life in the first and second stanzas, it is the symbol of death. The knight, the main character, who should be a strong, brave man, is now wandering aimlessly, he is pale, he has a fever, which can be the sign of sickness, death. Because of the fact that it is autumn, it is not surprising, that even the lively characters are colourless,

The goal behind this study is to better identify the presence of these structures which are known to produce chemical signals in conjunction with the release of their urine. In the lobster Homarus Americanus, urine signals are used as a form of chemical communication, males use urine in the determination of dominance over other males as well as to allow females choice of dominant males. Any figures beyond the set up of these dissections are just to help illustrate what the Rosette glands actually looked like, or a better understanding of the anatomy behind a cross sectioned nephropore (fig 2a b). The results from these cross section figures showed that rosette glands could be identified in the nephropre areas of every examined lobster. Subtle differences were found within these rosettes, one example being the cells within the rosettes either being rounded with many secretory granules, or thinner cells with smaller granules with spaces between the cells. Other rosettes were more organized into clusters of different sizes, and found within the connective tissue. These clusters were categorized into two separate gland complexes, on medial to the ureter and the other later (fig 3a b). Other experiments focused on within this article looked at the size and orientation of these gland complexes in an effort to better understand subtle differences from the normal nephropores, one example being some lobsters having anterior clusters which release the product a different way. Upon these grounds I propose that it is reasonable and necessary to draw parallels between Protestant and Catholic religious services as a start to narrow the gap between Catholics and Protestants. Sequential interdependency has a serial form. There is the direct interdependency of units on each other: the output of the entity becomes the input for the followed one. Both parts make contributions to and are sustained by the whole. In case of reciprocal interdependency, the outputs of each become the inputs for the others, but not in a serial form. Each unit poses contingency for the other. Reciprocal interdependency has the highest level of complexity and dominates in construction projects, which shows the need for the highest level of integration. If the motivation of syndication was to leverage the diverse expertise among the investors with a view to reducing risk, then syndicated deals would have been expected in riskier environments, for example in states where the level of corruption was higher or the PRI value was lower. Since this has not been the case, we feel that capital pooling in order to fund larger projects has been the main motivation for syndication, rather than the ability to assume a higher level of operating environment risk. But, Johnson states that based on what the show 24 suggests, the exact opposite is happening: the culture is getting more cognitively demanding, not less (1). I think Hong Kong has the best harmonious culture in the world because it was a part of England and China, and many people from Hong Kong can speak English and Chinese. Even until now, China is not much open as many other liberal economy countries, but Hong Kong is. According to Milton Friedman who is one of the famous economies in the world, and who were awarded the Novel Prize in Economic Sciences, Hong Kong is a good example of the free market system. Therefore, Hong Kong has been influenced many different cultures, and it becomes one of the harmoniest countries in the world. It became independent from England, but it has not been included China yet, so it has very distinctive culture. It was established in July 1st 1997 and would be a part of China 50 years after 1997 (Hong Kong Basic Law). Hong Kong rapidly developed social systems and economy in 1980. Therefore, there are many similarities and differences between 1980 and now. First, old Hong Kong and now Hong Kong have similarities in culture, especially movie industry. Hong Kong is one of the most famous movie stars home town such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Sammo Hung. • 29. Ivanhoe Analysis Even Without Capes Ivanhoe was written by Sir Walter Scott in 1819. Set in England, between the towns of Sheffield and Doncaster, Ivanhoe occurred during the end of the Third Crusade. At this time, England was under the temporary rule of Prince John. Prince John sided with Philip of France to ensure that his brother, King Richard, was kept in captivity by the Duke of Austria. He feared Richard and was horrified by the prospect of his brother s return, as he wanted England under his own rule. In Ivanhoe, King Richard eventually escaped from his imprisonment and returned to England. He waited for the reinforcement of his allies to reclaim his throne. Even though he was a Norman, Richard helped the rival Saxons. He wanted to end the dissension between these groups as the Saxons felt oppressed by their Norman conquerors. He also obtained help from the Saxons to defeat untrustworthy Norman leaders. Known as Coeur de Lion, Richard was actually extremely similar to Beowulf. Beowulf was a powerful warrior, who travelled to aid the Danish King, Hrothgar, in the defeat of Grendel. Grendel was a monster, who had overtaken Hrothgar s great mess hall. For twelve years, Grendel ravaged Heorot. Beowulf decided to save the Danes from this man devourer. King Richard and Beowulf were both heroes. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Interventions for Psychosis Psychosocial treatments for schizophrenia are not new in the research literature. Psychological treatments have been previously used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Psychosocial interventions are aimed at empowering patients, and, as Slade Haddock (1996) have pointed out, since the 1980s, the task of the therapist was no longer to change the behaviour of the patient but rather to help the client to change their own behaviour, if they wish to do so . This chapter provides an overview of family interventions and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for psychotic symptoms. There has been a lot of research and clinical interest in the effectiveness of CBT for patients with psychosis. Unfortunately, the provision of family interventions in routine services has been disappointing, despite vigorous training programmes. Notwithstanding some notable exceptions in the UK, such as Bath (Smith Velleman, 2002) and Somerset (Stanbridge et al, 2003), increasing the availability of family work remains a challenge for most service providers. The aim is not to provide a comprehensive academic review of family interventions and CBT for serious mental illness. The argument merely indicates the probability of God and this is of little value to a religious believer. Discuss. (12) In contrast to the classical arguments for the existence of God, namely the ontological, cosmological and teleological arguments, the argument from religious experience doesn t just entail a set logical of points arriving at a conclusion on a piece of paper, rather it also necessitates sense based experience, tangible to the individual who experiences the divine. James lists four qualifiers of mystical experiences: ineffability (a state that defies description), noetic quality (revelations of universal and eternal truths), transiency (a brief but profoundly important experience) and passivity (a feeling of being taken over by a superior authority). The father of liberal theology, Schleiermacher, made passivity the most important qualifier. He took the concept a step further and proposed that the essence of religion is the feeling of absolute dependence and this approach was supported by scholars such as Rudolf Otto, who defined religious experience as wholly other . For Schleiermacher, in particular, and, additionally, the Islamic mystic Al Ghazali, true religion was completely experiential and it should therefore be felt rather than thought. He believed that logic destroys religious experience because religious experience is a matter of intuitive knowledge, not processed knowledge. Intuition is belief, where as logic creates doubts. In many spiritual systems (religious or independent of religion) the human instinct is held in high regard. It was for this reason that Iqbal, the late Islamic philosopher of the modern era, disagreed with Al Ghazali. Any communication using technology can be considered telecommunications, but the phone and internet are the two most commonly thought of forms. It is becoming increasingly common for both internet and phone features to be accessed on a single device. Smartphones, mobile phones that are internet capable, have only been available for a relatively short time. Despite this, their popularity has exploded and their features are changing the world in many ways. Much like with mobile phones in general, consumers were quick to adopt smartphones. In 1984 only 92,000 Americans subscribed to mobile phone services; 16 years later almost 110 million were subscribed to these same services. As of the end of 2008, about 270 million Americans were using mobile phone services (Federal Communications Commission, 2010). Recent research indicates that smartphones now outsell mobile phones that aren t able to access the internet and make up 53.6 percent of total mobile phone sales (Gartner, Inc., 2014). I think that during the end of the first stanza the poet starts to become quite theatrical. Yet this enjoys it before it woo, And pamper d swells in one blood made of two; And this, alas! Is more than we would do. This could be referring to sex. The flea enjoys the blood and so does the man enjoy foreplay. The pamper d swells could be that of sexual organs before sex and yet, because that is not happening, the flea is having a better time at the moment than he is, by sucking their blood. I think that by using this comparison, John Donne is being very intellectual and at this point I feel he may win his argument. The second stanza, John Donne becomes weaker as the girl starts to defend herself and he tries to convey his love for her. John Donne, in this stanza I feel becomes more intimate and uses alliteration and much more poetic techniques. At the beginning of the second stanza, I would assume that the girl has got up and left him.

  • 47. World War One Is Severely Lacking Essay Kennedy s Over Here is a perfect read for historians and those people that have more than basic knowledge about World War One. However, my education about World War One is severely lacking. Either the incompetence of my high school education or the incompetence of my memory in retaining the knowledge learned, lead to the reading of this book being very difficult for me. Kennedy assumes that the reader knows what certain terms mean, who specific people are, and that they are familiar with the events of the war. He went so quickly through a lot of background about the war in the prologue that it got a bit confusing. In fact, the author s organization of ideas throughout the whole book made reading it more difficult. I feel like the organization of the thoughts or ideas presented left many main points unconnected, and thus understanding was lacking. It seemed that once I started to understand one factor he would then move on too quickly to another. For these reasons I struggled with following the ideas and timeline. Even though his style/organization did not improve, I did become more accustomed to it halfway through. At that point the book started to become more interesting and informative to me. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read another book by him previously, and was used to his writing style/ organization. Most of the author s secondary sources are not current; this is both an asset and a hindrance. The antiquity of his secondary sources meant he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They help set structure for the students so that they will be ready to live on their own. CIIS also made sure that their students would be ready for the outside world.
