Difference Between Developing Country And Developing...
Developed and Developing Countries
Countries are divided into two major categories by the United Nations, which are developed countries
and developing countries. The classification of countries is based on the economic status such as GDP,
GNP, per capita income, industrialization, the standard of living, etc. DEVELOPED COUNTRIES
refers to the sovereign state, whose economy has highly progressed and possesses great technological
infrastructure, as compared to other nations.
After a thorough research on the two, the difference between developed countries and developing

First Battle Of Bull Run Essay
The Civil war began at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861. However, the Civil War did not really start to
amp up until the First Battle of Bull Run or also know as the first Battle of Manassas. The battle was
fought just miles from Washington D.C., on July 21, 1861. At a place near Manassas Junction,
Virginia. The battle began when about 35,000 Union soldiers marched from Washington D.C. to fight
a confederate force of 20,000 along a small river called Bull Run. The goal of the Union army was to
make quick work of the Confederate Army, make way to Richmond, the Confederate capital, and end
the war. The Confederate forces were commanded by General P.G.T.Beauregard and General Joseph
F. Johnston. The Union forces were commanded by General Irvin ... Show more content on

Thomas J.Jackson who helped the Confederates hold an important high ground position at Henry

Bee who told his men to take heart and to look at Jackson standing there like a stonewall. Reporters,
congressman, and onlookers came to watch the battle like it was some sort of show or play. They
thought the Union were about to win the battle and began celebrating. However, reinforcements from
the Confederate army soon came. They rallied the Confederate troops. The federals struggled with
communication and lack of coordination between units. By later in the afternoon, both sides had an
equal number of men on the battlefield. General Beauregard ordered a counterattack and the
Confederates were able to penetrate the Union line. McDowell and the Union soldiers began to retreat
chaotically. The Confederates had won the war. However, they were too disorganized to go after the

A Brief Note On Environmental Psychology Research Methods...
Environmental Psychology Research Methods
Summary
In this study conducted by Megan J. Bissing Olsoni, Aarti Iyer, Kelly S. Fielding and Hannes Zacher,
a survey/diary design was used to examine the relationship of pro environmental behavior, employees
daily affect, pro environmental attitude, daily task related pro environmental behavior, and daily
proactive pro environmental behavior. There were 56 participants in the study and they were all
employed in small businesses. The surveys were done twice daily, after the initial baseline survey was
conducted. Surveys were taken only on workdays, concluding on the tenth work day. The authors had
various hypotheses concerning the effects of daily un activated positive affect and pro environmental
attitude, and if they would predict daily task related pro environmental behavior, as well how daily
activated positive affect would predict daily proactive pro environmental behavior among employees.
The findings were positive in their majority of their hypotheses. The findings propose that the
encouragement of pro environmental attitudes and, to a lesser extent, positive affect among
employees, my aide organizations in the promotion of pro environmental behavior while at work.
Research Method The research method used in the study was survey, in the form of a diary study

The Decolonization Of Mars
A lot can be said about Mars. It was named after the Roman God of War, Mars, for its red color. One
of the biggest topics of conversation regarding Mars is whether or not us humans should be looking to
colonize the Red Planet. I won t be getting into the debate of privatized or public space programs
because in the end they are both working towards a common goal of getting to Mars. The points I will
layout through this essay will be, is Mars habitable, how much money it will cost to get to Mars, some
thoughts from Stephen Petranek and is it an actual solution.
When we get to the topic of habitability on Mars, we have to focus on the main points. Is the
atmosphere able to sustain life? Are we able to grow food to feed animals and ourselves? ... Show

Food, shelter, water, and clothing. This is for Earth, when we get to Mars, we would need oxygen as
well. What has been stated earlier in the essay was having supplies brought to Mars earlier than our
intended arrival, and some of the stuff there could be dry food. In his Ted talk, he states that about
80% of the food we would eat on Mars would be dry foods, and the other would be grown gradually
over time. Petranek says in his Ted talk that about 15 20% would be grown from hydroponics. What
this means is that plants would grow without soil, because Martian soil is toxic. It is considered to be
toxic because NASA s Curiosity rover found perchlorates in the Martian ground. We wouldn t be able
to grow food easily until there is running water on the surface, and we found an easier way to make
the dirt able to be used for farming practices. I personally wouldn t enjoy having to eat dried foods for
a long time while living on Mars, but some other people might. I would need the greens and
vegetables to thrive for an extended amount of

Pickens Plan
Over the past century, the United States has created an enormous vehicle transportation infrastructure
solely based on one energy source, which is oil. Successful implementation of the Pickens Plan must
involve two major shifts when it comes to the U.S. energy consumption: replacing natural gas with
wind power as a significant source of electricity generation and replacing oil with natural gas as far as
transportation is concerned. If T. Boone Pickens Plan were to be successfully implemented, the global
price of oil would decrease because the plan itself would significantly decrease the demand for oil.
Therefore, when the demand drops, the price will go down as well. Pickens plan would reduce
demand for oil in two different ways. First, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a tariff on oil comes an incentive for people to reduce their use of oil and it makes the U.S. much
more independent. The domestic oil industry, would highly support this because it protects our home
country s producers from the competition of cheap OPEC oil imports. Producers of renewable energy
sources would support the tariff because a high oil price makes alternatives to oil more attractive.
Particularly, it offers a powerful reason to bring manufacturing back to North America. As shown on
the graphs that I have constructed, a tariff though it may result in some dead weight losses, it
nonetheless provides the incentive to reduce oil consumption and spending in this country and it also
provides tax revenue. When it comes to the positive externality graph based on the emphasis the
Pickens Plan places on natural gas in America, one can see the benefits the plan provides for the U.S,
economy as a whole. Yes, one can make the argument that there is simply no demand for such a
change at all whatsoever, however, assuming there were subsidies implemented for the Pickens Plan,
we see demand shift to the right, thus conveying that there will be demand if a good incentive is
provided to the U.S. consumers. It would be plausible for the U.S. to cut off spending billions of
dollars to foreign countries and spend its money and focus to move vehicles away from oil, and rely
on renewable energies such as solar, wind, biofuels, which would in effect, create jobs here in the
United States. This would be a better alternative than having the United States spend huge amounts of
money for oil

Energy Consumption In Iraq
Iraq emerged as the second largest producer of crude oil within the Organization of the Petroleum
Exporting Countries (OPEC)(Saddam and abu Mansor, 2015). At the beginning of 2015, Iraq
reportedly held 144 billion crude oil reserve barrels, representing about 18% of the confirmed reserves
within the Middle East and about 9% of reserves worldwide ( Worldwide look at Reserves and
Production, 2015). Despite drawing huge benefits from the valuable conventional source of energy,
Iraqi households experience electricity shortage particularly during summer. In 2012, electricity
supply in Iraq was about 66 billion kilo watt hours (kWh). It is expected that the peak in electricity
demand will hit 50,000 to 60,000 MW by 2030 (Istepanian, 2014). ... Show more content on

The commonly employed insulation materials are fiberglass, cotton, and foams. In this standpoint,
TES systems are attractive due to their energy economy in buildings. Currently, the major concern
involving the modern buildings environment is related to the necessity of energy efficient sustainable
structures together with intuitive design and architecture. Management of energy supply and demand
equilibrium requires their constant preservation. 2.2 Buildings Management with Phase Change
Materials Based on heat storage capability TES media are classified in to sensible heat storage (SHS)
and latent heat storage (LHS). In SHS during phase change, the heat is stored or released in the
storage media together with temperature alteration. Conversely, in the LHS materials heat is stored or
released during phase change processes in the form of fusion/solidification. PCM undergoes a phase
change from a solid to liquid state or vice versa when the temperature increases or decreases
respectively. It is the phenomena of phase transformation that enables the PCM to store and release
significant amounts of latent heat during the phase changes. LHTES systems are created by
impregnating organic, inorganic, or eutectic compounds into construction elements including
wallboard and concrete. They are promising due to their prevalent acceptance and subsequent
adaptation as building materials in the entire buildings environment. PCMs

Gerald Graff And Rakoff s They Say I Say
In chapter seven of They Say / I Say, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein address how to improve a
topic through connectivity, and how the topic relates to the reader. They do so by introducing the
questions so what? and who cares? which, in their view, make for a more stimulating paper. Even if an
issue is obviously consequential, Birkenstein and Graff argue, the writer should go as far as possible in
answering those questions (100). One way the writer can do this is by refutibg the standard opinion of
their topic (97). Judge Jed Rakoff does precisely that in his article, Why Innocent People Plead Guilty.
He begins by noting that the criminal justice system bears little resemblance to what the Founding
Fathers contemplated . . . [and] what the average American believes. Due to plea bargains, jury trials
in the United States are exceedingly rare, in spite of constitutional provisions for a speedy and public
trial. If there is no trial, there can be no speedy trial, and that means that this constitutional right, for
most, is a myth. But while this revelation complicates and adds relevance to Rakoff s topic, he also
asks What s wrong with that? a variation of so what? In answer to this question, he says that plea
bargains are secret negotiations that invite[] arbitrary results. Both innocent and guilty defendants, in
other words, are placed in the same pot, and the goal is to achieve the appearance of fairness, not the
realization of it. Considering ninety seven percent of federal convictions are the results of guilty pleas
(Rakoff), that is a haunting injustice. Journalist Antonia Malchik takes a similar approach to in The
End of Walking. The right to walk, as Malchik calls it, might not seem as important as the right to a
fair trial, but she is explicit about the cost. Walking, Malchik observes, is an interconnection of
cognitive processes that can have a significant impact on everything from cardiovascular disease to
muscle atrophy. Yet walking as way of life is more out of reach than ever. For instance, in 2013, more
than 4,700 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes (Malchik). Malchik further emphasizes the
seriousness of the situation by including a relevant

Statement Of Purpose In Physics
Statement of Purpose
When I was in standard 6th, I was introduced to some basic scientific theories like gravitation and
force. Since then I have been very curious to learn more about them and when I studied them further I
wondered how Newton came to the conclusion that force is equal to mass into acceleration. We know
that acceleration is dv/dt, the first derivative of velocity with respect to time. But what is time? Is it
more than seconds or minutes or even hours? Since the definition of time is duration and duration is
just the passage of time, so the curiosity to know exactly what time is entranced my interest in

Computerized Mobile Suburban Railway Ticket Tickets
Abstract Today s biggest challenge in current ticketing system is QUEUE in booking railway tickets.
In this fast growing world of technology we still stand in the queue or buy with CVM coupons or
smart cards for our suburban tickets, which is more frustrating at times to stand in the queue or if we
forget our cards. This paperless Mobile Suburban Railway (MSR) ticketing is mainly to buy the
suburban tickets which is the most challenging when compared to booking the long journey tickets
through `M ticket which fails with suburban(local travel) tickets. Our MSR ticket can be bought with
just a smart phone application, where you can carry your suburban railway tickets in your smart phone
as a QR (Quick Response) ticket. The ticket will have distinct color scheme everyday and it cannot be
forwarded to another mobile. Our MSR tickets system is one of the best opportunities for those who
cannot afford enough time to get their tickets standing in long queues.

Police Brutality And Police Officers
The heated issue of police brutality and police officers violating civil rights has extensively covered
media headlines for several years. Hundreds of people are killed every year by police officers, and
many of these cases bring up issues of police brutality. More often than not, it is usually a white police
officer and an african american offender encounter that sparks media attention. The shooting of
Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri is just one of these cases that has caused a major divide in the
United States. Michael Brown was fatally shot by Officer Wilson after an unfriendly encounter in the
streets. Those who believe that Officer Wilson made the right decision in shooting Michael Brown,
point to the fact that the grand jury chose not to indict him. Although Darren WIlson was not charged
after the shooting of unarmed Michael Brown, some people believe that his actions were unlawful and
he should have received some sort of punishment for his wrongdoing. Acknowledging all of the facts
of the investigation, Officer Wilson did not act properly in the circumstances of the time. Many people
believe that Officer Darren Wilson made the right decision when he fatally shot Michael Brown
because he feared for his life. In a report by Rachel Clark and Christopher Lett, CNN reporters, they
describe the incident that led to the shooting began when Wilson left the scene of a sick call and
encountered Michael Brown with his friend Dorian Johnson walking in the middle of the

The first piece they played was the Sextet for Horns which was created by Gregory Kerkorian.
Kerkorian is an American composer who wrote works for orchestra, concert band, chamber music and

The piece starts with a very dissonance sound. They were very loud and played on a major scale.
There was a lot of harmonic tension between musicians they couldn t stay on key. The timbre was
very brassy and harsh with a conjunct melody. The song seemed to have a larghetto tempo sounding
very slow and sad. The piece also has a low pitch throughout the entire song.
The next piece played by the horn ensemble was the Urlicht which was written by Gustav Mahler.

Critical Summary Of Insurgent
Choice As was true of its precursor, Insurgent mainly revolves around the theme of choices and in the
manner they can change you. After all, the book s tagline is one choice can destroy you. In Insurgent,
all of Tris s decisions had main drawback, as she determined whether or not to enter risky situations,
to fib to Tobias, and even to surrender herself. With so much on the line, Tris s choices involve not
only her, but everybody around her. As the cycle goes on, option left just as important, but the stakes

creating diverse groups with limitations between them. Insurgent illustrates how these divisions
generate an us vs. them attitude that eventually brings it to ruin. In this novel, schism also happen
within these groups: Dauntless splits into faithful and conspirator, Abnegation is broken , Erudite

are what eventually creates so much annihilation, and as Tris learns time and yet again that it is not

much of this novel taking place in Candor nerve center, it is to be expected that trust and honesty
figure vastly into the theme. Tris and Tobias s relationship is put under harm

Application Essay To Graduate High School
In June of 2015, I achieved my greatest personal achievement to date; I graduated high school.
Graduations are a rite of passage in our culture. Hallmark even has an entire section of cards dedicated
to the occasion. For me personally, graduating high school ignited an orb of hope and positivity within
me that allows me to reflect upon the numerous years of my education as a journey with both peaks
and valleys. High school was a valley that required me to attain new levels of determination and
perseverance. I can vividly remember running up to my guidance counselor after the ceremony to
thank her and just repeating, I did it! in a state of euphoria or incredulity at my own accomplishment.
For most of my high school career I did not believe that I would live to see the class of 2015 graduate
let alone graduate with them.
Following the sense of pride my high school graduation instilled in me, I made a decision to go to
college with purpose and began truly envisioning and planning for my future. It was after I graduated
high school that I decided upon becoming a teacher. A lot of this decision stemmed from my thoughts
on graduation night. I remember thinking of the teachers who supported and shaped me throughout
my education. I remembered my third grade teacher who once told me in secret that I was one of her
most talented students and helped me to recognize my own abilities. I remembered my strict Spanish
teacher in high school who pushed me to focus on my

The Importance Of Fighting In The NHL
Fighting has been a part of the NHL since 1922 and it has had a huge impact on the game of hockey
and the sport wouldn t be the same without it. There are a lot of injuries involved with fighting but if
fighting wasn t in pro hockey then there would probably be a lot more injuries. Some players would be
more chippy and run at people and get away with it without facing the consequences for it. Fighting
also has a key part in motivating a team if they aren t playing well.
A fight will spark your team and give them a little more jump in a game most of the time. Skilled
players that rarely fight even agree that fighting should not be taken out of hockey like Henrik

Claude Lemiuex who played for many teams throughout his 21 year career in the NHL was known as
one of the biggest pests that has been in the league. Pests in the NHL are players that attempt to
antagonize opposing players with physical play and by chirping. He is best known for the infamous hit
on Kris Draper where he hit him from behind, forcing Drapers face into the boards. Draper suffered a
broken jaw, shattered cheek, and orbital bone which needed surgery that involved his jaw being wired
shut and a lot of stitches. This hit lead to the rivalry of the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado
Avalanche. Throughout the next 5 years there were 2 or 3 line brawls between the two teams that even
included the goalies fighting. Darren McCarty got his revenge on Lemieux in the first brawl since the
Draper incident and blindsided him after a whistle in the game. That game had 18 major fighting
penalties that totaled up to 144 penalty minutes combined for both teams. If the NHL didn t have
fighting who knows what else he would have done in games to opposing players but by having
fighting in the game he knew that he would have pay for his actions so he did not play how he usually
did against the Red Wings. Lemieux only received a 2 game suspension and $1000 dollar fine for the
hit so having someone knock him around a little bit was a more suitable punishment. If fighting wasn t
allowed he never would have faced any consequences for that hit because in todays game he would
have been suspended for maybe 20 games or

Essay on Three Portrayals of Climate Change
Three Portrayals of Climate Change
You are what you eat. We ve all heard the old saying, reminding us that what we take in, we can t help
but manifest. A similar axiom might apply to other things we take in, like information. Granted, you
are what you read, hear, and/or watch just doesn t have the same ring to it, but it s operating along the
same lines.
But, in yet another difference between humans and food, (P1) creative artists use a variety of
techniques to influence how we take in what they are telling us. By creative artists I mean writers,
directors, and performers, and more specifically I refer to those involved in the works The Day After

In the beginning, it is possible that this movie was originally intended to do some good. Though
Hollywood reeks of opportunistic capitalism, many of the writers and directors probably had some
truly artistic roots and intentions deep inside them somewhere, at some time. But ultimately, any
semblance of respectably artistic, persuasive, or credible characteristics were horribly mutated in the
name of sensationalism.
The idea for DAT may have been centered on climate change, but the writers quickly tacked on a love
story, dad son issues, crappy science, and man hunting wolves on top of the instantly induced ice age
plot. As such, the movie sacrificed an originally plausible appeal to environmentalism for people who
like a little less talk, a little more action.
The movie was not all bad. One interesting technique was to cast the concept of climate change as
inducing colder temperatures. I think that one of the leading reasons that global warming is not being
confronted more forcefully is that seriously people generally like warm weather. And, in an extra twist
of irony, the nations that are contributing the most greenhouse gases to the earth s atmosphere are
generally in cooler climates, where

Tobin s Preschool In Three Cultures
Introduction:
In each of the three preschools presented in Tobin s videos for the revisited Preschool in Three
Cultures , cultural values were passed on to students by both teachers and administrators. Due to the
cultural differences existing between China, Japan, and the United States, the roles of preschools in
each community and the way the children were socialized differed. This observation can be tied back
to the information presented in Chapter 2. In all three classrooms, students were engaged in structured
participation, mirrored adults, and engaged in routines/play, however the lessons taught in each class
differed based on the cultural ideals of the country. Like Vygotsky s theory stated, while the guidance

contrasts between Anglo Americans and Latino Americans were emphasized. Although there are
cultural differences that exist within these two groups, the larger issue, I believe comes down to
socioeconomic status. It was stated that 20% of Latino American elders have incomes below the
poverty line, due to a combination of lower education levels, low paying jobs, and a lack of private
pensions. Ultimately, this leads to further discrimination. Not only are these individuals not meeting

Great Expectations follows the life of Phillip Pirrip, self named Pip; as his infant tongue could make

Pip. (I, Page 3) The story begins with Pip as a young child, destined to be the apprentice of his

for in life. Pip wants to be with Estella, and he knows that the only way for that to happen is if he were

Mesoamerican Ball Game
When people think of sports, some of the first things that come to mind are ball games such as football
and basketball, cheerleaders, and expensive halftime shows. We rarely think about the origins of these
organized games, which date back thousands of years to the subtropical regions of Central America.
Today s sports fans have nothing on the Mayans. The Mesoamerican Ball Game is the oldest known
sport in the Americas. It was a ritual, political and social activity that involved the whole community.
The basic form consisted of two parallel mounds separated by a playing field, but the ball court
evolved and took on an important variation with end zones forming an I shape (Foster, 2002, p.233).
These structures had sloping walls and benches, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ball game was played for many reasons, including entertainment and competition. Because the
losers were frequently sacrificed, ball games also served as a way to reenact wars with enemy peoples
(Foster, 2002, p.195). To play, the ball is kept in the air by hitting it with the hips, thighs or upper arms
and bouncing it of the side walls. The use of the hands or feet was forbidden. The solid rubber ball
was extremely hard and causes serious injuries. The ball game participants wore padding on their
forearms and knees as protection against the hard ball and even harder masonry surfaces of the ball
courts (Foster, 2002, p.195). To protect ribs and the torso players would wear a U shaped belt or yoke.
They were made out of leather or wicker. Hachas were axlike stone implements shaped like animal,
bird, or human heads and worn inserted in the belt (Foster, 2002, p.195). It s also said that the motions
of the ball were thought to parallel the motions of the sun, moon, and Venus as they rose through the
sky and sank in the Underworld (Foster, 2002, p.195). There s a spiritual story associated with the ball

The Pros And Cons Of Customer Satisfaction
Customers perceive service in terms of tone, but how satisfied they are with the overall experience, is
what defines their satisfaction. Whether the client is satisfied after purchase depends on the offer s

according to Zeithaml et al (2006) although service quality and client satisfaction are used

Customer Satisfaction is when the outcome of the service matches the expectations of the service. As

developed into more of a family friendly location complete with Amusement theme parks, water parks

amusement and excitement with a boardwalk relaxing atmosphere.
Economic feasibility and Market
With the aforementioned nearly 40 million tourists last year bringing with them their 9.5 Billion in
gambling revenue, along with other spending capital it is only logical to use this location as a prime
target location for our boardwalk concept. The tourism industry has recovered pleasantly from the
most recent recession and Las Vegas has shot back into action with three additional planned themed
resort casinos being built on or near the Las Vegas Strip within the next 5 years. The competition is

This book is pragmatical, not philosophical, a functional manual, not a treatise upon hypotheses. It is
planned for the men and ladies whose most squeezing need is for cash, who wish to get rich to start

activity, without going into every one of the procedures by which those conclusions were come to. It is
normal that the peruser will take the crucial proclamations upon confidence, similarly as he would
take explanations concerning a law of electrical activity in the event that they were proclaimed by a
Marconi or an Edison; and, taking the announcements upon confidence, that he will demonstrate their
reality by following up on them without dread or delay. Each man or lady who does this will
absolutely get rich; for the science thus connected is a correct science, and disappointment is

Differences Between Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and...
At the mention of the name Alice, one tends to usually think of the children s stories by Lewis Carroll.
Namely, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are two classic works of
children s literature that for over a century have been read by children and adults alike. These two
stories tell the tale of a young girl named Alice who finds herself in peculiar surroundings, where she
encounters many different and unusual characters. Although Alice is at the centre of both stories, each
tale is uniquely different in its purpose, characters and style.
Carroll first published Alice s Adventures in Wonderland in 1865, three years after he had first told the
story to the young girl Alice Liddell and her sisters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these stories are structured differently in the manner in which Carroll had written them. For
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, there is no direction to the story and one could almost place the
chapters in any sequence and the story would still make sense. However, the opposite is true for
Through the Looking Glass as Carroll clearly indicated at the beginning with the introduction of the
chess game. This image of a chess board is fundamental to understanding the story in Through the
Looking Glass and portrays a sense of logic and order to the reader. Throughout the story, the reader
has a clear sense of direction as to where the story will go next and each chapter follows in sequence.
Alice s journey in the second story is to go from being a pawn to that of a Queen.
Carroll s use of the chess board is also important in Alice s transition to adulthood. Her journey across
the chess board from being a pawn to reaching the status of Queen represents the growth of being a
child to becoming an adult. This emphasis is conveyed primarily in Through the Looking Glass and
Carroll conveys this through the encounters that Alice has with the various characters, mainly the
Queens and the Kings. The Queen always seems one step ahead of Alice, similar to what a child feels
in an adult world. Carroll continues to express the tyranny of adulthood through Alice s encounters
and journey. She soon learns that becoming a Queen was not all

Volunteering In College
Winston Churchill once stated, We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give.
According to this great leader, making money is not the only basis for happiness; he feels that one
must also give of one s time in order to live a more fulfilling life. Following this ideology,
volunteering in one s community would be a means to accomplish a more rewarding existence. This
idea has sparked a debate about whether students should be required to volunteer in order to gain their
diplomas. Requiring volunteer hours to graduate should not be considered because being made to help
others could lead to apathy, there is not a course of study for volunteering, and volunteering could
affect the monetary situation for some students. First and foremost, forced volunteerism for high
school seniors may lead to a greater apathy toward the needs of others. When students are made to
give of their time, they may show their resentment by performing poorly. For instance, last fall I
worked at a soup kitchen. One of the helpers had been required to be there because his mother wanted
him to see how privileged he was. This young man spilled more food than he ... Show more content on

Concern for others must be fostered at an early age. Pres school would be a better venue for this

Though volunteering and giving back to the community are important, making volunteer hours a
requirement for graduation is a bad decision. Mandatory volunteerism is an oxymoron. The want to
help has to be present and should not enter into the realm of regulation for graduating seniors. Each
individual must choose what he or she gives and the life he or she

The Relevance Of An Organization
An organization is a group of individuals with a specific purpose, normally a business, association or

to the familiarity or awareness gained through experience of a situation or a fact. This paper is going
to give a brief documentation regarding the relevance that knowledge has in an organization.

The progression of knowledge within any given organization, be it in the production of goods or the
issuance of services to customers, is the most thought provoking element in business. Herein, the
comprehension of knowledge in an organization is considered by different measures of any projects
being undertaken. More so, this is achieved through clarification with regard to consultation and
development measures within the organization. These are very direct initiatives geared towards the
promotion of knowledge realization in a firm. There is also a need for employers, in the quest of
making their employees knowledgeable, to train, counsel and encourage employees to conduct
detailed research on their roles. It plays a significant role towards employee attainment of knowledge.
All the same, the associated processes are usually indirect. For instance, the training of employees in
an organization is not a guarantee that whatever is learned will be applied. For knowledge based
organizations, it is paramount for managers to bear in mind that promotion towards knowledge
realization is charted through the classification of implemented projects and assigned tasks.

Nuclear Crisis at Three Mile Island Essay
Nuclear Crisis at Three Mile Island
Abstract
In March of 1979, just ten miles south of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the Nuclear Power Plant at Three
Mile Island Unit 2 came close to nuclear melt down. Despite standards set by the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC), the plant ran for several years prior to the accident under poor conditions.
Communication certainly played a role in this near tragedy, as two engineers had foreseen the
consequences, but their advice went unheeded. Although most of the economic and social impacts of
this incident were minimal, this unpleasant event ended the nuclear power industry in America.

that the operators down at TMI 2 were taking the wrong measures when accidents occurred. But
Creswell was considered a nuisance and a troublemaker, whenever he brought these things to his boss
attention. Everything costs money to fix, and the plant was new, they just need time to work out the
kinks. Creswell was not the only one to notice the problem. At the Tennessee Valley Authority, whistle
blower and engineer, Carl Michelson had found a major flaw in the system in Unit Two: The pipe
connecting the pressurizer to the rest of the system dips. Like the U shaped sink drain trap at home,
the bend works as a vapor lock. This is great at home, because it keeps the sewer gasses from backing
up. Here, it meant that the water cooling the nuclear waste could turn to steam, and this steam could
be trapped in the main loop with no safe ventilation route. Michelson realized that if the plant had
such an occurrence after a few years running, the results could be disastrous, but he was also aware of
how the NRC worked and how expensive it is to change equipment. Michelson was set on getting
management to notice the problem, despite their opposition.
The design of the control room revealed the overconfidence of plant management. The control room

Beer As A Man Who Invented Beer Essay

Beer is One of the most widely consumed beverages around the world. According to List 25, An
average American consumes about 23 gallons of the beverage a year, that averages about 27 six packs

Mexican American War Analysis
The start of the Mexican American War started when the United States annexed Texas, we are told of

military s perspective of the battles they fought. The war how we see it today is different how the
soldiers once saw it. Although we are told of the acquired land received from each battle that was
won, there is no writing informing us of what the soldiers gave up in return for all this land. The
Mexican war provided opportunities to the soldiers such as rapid promotion. Instead of fearing the
idea of war, many reacted the opposite, because of the opportunity it provided. The war gave each
solider the chance to go pass the classic seniority system and get promoted much quicker. When the
time came to actually go to war, many showed almost no sign of excitement through the written letters

Coca Cola And The Non Alcoholic Beverage Industry Essay
Coca Cola Industry Coca Cola was founded 125 years ago and has dominated the non alcoholic
beverage industry for a significant amount of time. It currently leads the industry in market share at
around 40% and 1.9 billion servings are consumed each day around the world (Business Insider). The
company is mainly known for their carbonated soft drinks, but they own around 500 brands of soft
drinks, juices, bottled waters, sports drinks, and other types of drinks. Coca Cola has a total of 17
brands that have individual revenues of over $1 billion including: Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Powerade,
Dasani, Fanta, and Minute Maid (Market Realist). Coca Cola is served in over 200 countries across
the world and can be enjoyed by all types of people; however, they are targeting their advertisements
to rapidly growing target markets. According to Market Realist, Coca Cola spent $3.3 billion on
advertisements in 2013 and these are geared toward Hispanics, Millennials, and Teens, because these
groups hold significant buying power. There are many players in the industry that are necessary for
getting the end products to restaurants, retailers, and customers. The value chain for Coca Cola starts
with the syrup producer and then moves to the bottler, distributor, merchant, and finishes with the final
customer (Market Realist). Alternate Industry Definition Coca Cola s industry is defined as consumer
goods, and then more specifically non alcoholic beverages. One could categorize Coca Cola as a CPG

The Rise And Fall Of Decadence In Thomas Cole s Gilded Age
The Rise and Fall of Decadence Prominent American landscape painter through the Gilded Age,
Thomas Cole, argued through his series of paintings The Course of Empire that authenticity may
temporarily give way to decadence but when that occurs the natural course of empire will take place
and decadence will without fail crumble. This notion of Cole believing that authenticity will overcome
decadence is exemplified through his personal disagreements with human vanity, his pictorial style,
and his influences. Thomas Cole produced paintings that embodied notions that were an antithesis to
the developing ideals of consumerism and decadence in his time. Cole found solace in embracing the
authenticity and spirituality of nature like many transcendentalists ... Show more content on

I want to pay specific attention to how Cole utilizes the complex binary opposition between light and
dark as well as the juxtaposition of the colors green and beige to reflect the dichotomy between
decadence and authenticity. The first painting in the five part series is The Savage State (Fig.1) which
depicts a place and time where nature is at its most pure form untainted by the follies of humanity.
This notion of natural purity is exemplified by his composition balancing shadows on the left with
light sky and shore on the right. Through balancing the light and dark he argues that this state of the
Earth has the greatest natural balance; light and dark coexist but neither overpowers the other. Second
in the series The Pastoral State (Fig.2) juxtaposes the first painting by having more lightness,
greenness, and the introduction of a megalithic temple with a beige color. This juxtaposition
exemplifies the notion the balance between light and dark is an indicator of natural harmony, and the
color beige is an indicator human vanity. The Pastoral State(Fig.2) is lacking natural harmony but, it
also lacks vanity so the empire depicted is still relatively ideal from the transcendentalist viewpoint.
Following The Pastoral State(Fig.2) is The Consummation of Empire(Fig.3) which depicts an
incredibly bright Empire composed of grand architecture and statues. Cole literally depicts the
decadence of the civilization by covering it gold colored paint. He also progresses the notion that the
beige color alludes to the natural imbalance of the Empire as well as an increase in human vanity.
Eventually the imbalance must find a way back to balance and the empire crumbles in a dramatic
fashion in Destruction(Fig.4). Once again, the light to dark duality is balanced and the green in the
river battles the beige of the carved

The Oven Room Analysis
My first reason for thinking the drawings best think the drawings depict the Holocaust experience,
because in the first portrayal The Oven Room by David Olere it shows people are carrying others in a
cot to be cauterized. This depicts the Holocaust experience because in fact millions of Jews were
killed and burned. They were put into the burners by their own people. And it is not just a few
carcasses it s hundreds upon hundreds. And it also shows what happened in this man s everyday life in
Auschwitz.
My second claim is for the drawing also by David Olere called Birkenau. In this drawing what I feel
depicts the Holocaust experience is, in this photo I see a least one hundred Jews going into the
internment camp and in the back of the drawing

Zagat Survey Case Study Part III
Case Study III: Inferential Statistics
This part of the case study will explore the application of inferential statistics to the Zagat Survey
sample data. In Part II, claims were made that attempted to extrapolate the sample data to the
population, but they were statistically invalid. So here in Part III, I will properly project the sample
data into the population and compare it to the previous methods. Earlier in the study, the univariate
estimate used was simply the mean value of the sample taken for the variable Cost. But this does not
account for the presence of variation in a sample that could affect the mean. We can use this value
within a standard normal distribution of sample means to try and narrow down the true ... Show more

Both of these values, along with the test statistic, are provided in the Excel regression output. An
online F value calculator1 produced a Critical F Value of 2.704. As outlined in Appendix C, we reject
the null hypothesis and conclude that the regression is in fact useful. Using the same null and
alternative hypotheses, the same test can be performed for the regression between Décor and Cost. In
this case, we reject the null hypothesis and confirm the alternative, which states that Décor (being the
only independent variable) does in fact affect the Cost. So there is a direct relationship between the
Décor and Cost. The multiple regression model does a good bob of predicting the Cost. As seen in
Part II of the case study, the regression produced a relatively high Adjusted R Square value of .76406,
which means that about 76% of the variation in Cost can be explained by the other variables
(Appendix D). We can also see from this output that each variable is given a t Stat value. All of these
values are higher than the Critical T Value (from T distribution table) for 99 degrees of freedom all the
way up to the significance level of 1% (t = 2.364). And, as shown before, the F Value hypothesis
testing for the regression as a whole proved that the regression was in fact useful. So all of these
claims when used in concert provide strong evidence that this model has a high predictive value. The
best estimation for Cost is going to be the

What Is Bill Bowman s Legacy
The 1950 s, a year when America stood undisputed, where the economy s at its peak, and where two
young business men were about to create one of the world s largest, most recognizable brand. Bill
Bowman was a well known and respected track coach from the University of Oregon. He had always
had a knack for giving his athletes a competitive edge during their meets. His soon to be partner, Phil
Knight, was a very gifted middle distance runner who enrolled at the University of Oregon in 1955
and competed under Bill. Phil graduated and went on to get a MBA from Stanford. While he was
attending Stanford he wrote a paper that proposed quality running shoes could be made in Japan and
could be used to compete against the best German brands. His letters he sent were never replied ...

He never lost a race at his home track in the one mile distance race. He had a lot of national exposure
in well known magazines because of his four place finish in the 5000m race in Munich. He was a very
powerful ambassador for Nike. He graduated from the University of Oregon and began to make
appearances for Nike and attempt to get others to join team Nike by sending them shoes and letters of
encouragement. He tragically died at age 24 in 1975. His legacy remains in the Nike community. Phil
has said that Steve Prefontaine is the soul of Nike . In 1973 Nike signed its first endorsement pact with
Ilie Nastase, a professional athlete and ATP tennis star. Entering into the 1980 s Nike began its rapid
rise to success by releasing never before seen shoes as well as apparel. Nearing the end of the 1980 s
Nike completed its IPO and became a publicly traded company. Phil stepped down as president for a
year 1983 1982. He still remained the chairman of the board and CEO. Nike was slowly slipping from
its position as the industry leader. In 1976, the company hired John Brown and Partners, based in
Seattle, as its first advertising

The points I will layout through this essay will be, is Mars habitable, how much money it will cost to get to Mars, some thoughts from Stephen Petranek and is it an actual solution. • 9. Pickens Plan Over the past century, the United States has created an enormous vehicle transportation infrastructure solely based on one energy source, which is oil. Successful implementation of the Pickens Plan must involve two major shifts when it comes to the U.S. energy consumption: replacing natural gas with wind power as a significant source of electricity generation and replacing oil with natural gas as far as transportation is concerned. If T. Boone Pickens Plan were to be successfully implemented, the global price of oil would decrease because the plan itself would significantly decrease the demand for oil. Therefore, when the demand drops, the price will go down as well. Pickens plan would reduce demand for oil in two different ways. First, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a tariff on oil comes an incentive for people to reduce their use of oil and it makes the U.S. much more independent. The domestic oil industry, would highly support this because it protects our home country s producers from the competition of cheap OPEC oil imports. Producers of renewable energy sources would support the tariff because a high oil price makes alternatives to oil more attractive. Particularly, it offers a powerful reason to bring manufacturing back to North America. As shown on the graphs that I have constructed, a tariff though it may result in some dead weight losses, it nonetheless provides the incentive to reduce oil consumption and spending in this country and it also provides tax revenue. When it comes to the positive externality graph based on the emphasis the Pickens Plan places on natural gas in America, one can see the benefits the plan provides for the U.S, economy as a whole. Yes, one can make the argument that there is simply no demand for such a change at all whatsoever, however, assuming there were subsidies implemented for the Pickens Plan, we see demand shift to the right, thus conveying that there will be demand if a good incentive is provided to the U.S. consumers. It would be plausible for the U.S. to cut off spending billions of dollars to foreign countries and spend its money and focus to move vehicles away from oil, and rely on renewable energies such as solar, wind, biofuels, which would in effect, create jobs here in the United States. This would be a better alternative than having the United States spend huge amounts of money for oil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Gerald Graff And Rakoff s They Say I Say In chapter seven of They Say / I Say, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein address how to improve a topic through connectivity, and how the topic relates to the reader. They do so by introducing the questions so what? and who cares? which, in their view, make for a more stimulating paper. Even if an issue is obviously consequential, Birkenstein and Graff argue, the writer should go as far as possible in answering those questions (100). One way the writer can do this is by refutibg the standard opinion of their topic (97). Judge Jed Rakoff does precisely that in his article, Why Innocent People Plead Guilty. He begins by noting that the criminal justice system bears little resemblance to what the Founding Fathers contemplated . . . [and] what the average American believes. Due to plea bargains, jury trials in the United States are exceedingly rare, in spite of constitutional provisions for a speedy and public trial. If there is no trial, there can be no speedy trial, and that means that this constitutional right, for most, is a myth. But while this revelation complicates and adds relevance to Rakoff s topic, he also asks What s wrong with that? a variation of so what? In answer to this question, he says that plea bargains are secret negotiations that invite[] arbitrary results. Both innocent and guilty defendants, in other words, are placed in the same pot, and the goal is to achieve the appearance of fairness, not the realization of it. Considering ninety seven percent of federal convictions are the results of guilty pleas (Rakoff), that is a haunting injustice. Journalist Antonia Malchik takes a similar approach to in The End of Walking. The right to walk, as Malchik calls it, might not seem as important as the right to a fair trial, but she is explicit about the cost. Walking, Malchik observes, is an interconnection of cognitive processes that can have a significant impact on everything from cardiovascular disease to muscle atrophy. Yet walking as way of life is more out of reach than ever. For instance, in 2013, more than 4,700 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes (Malchik). He is best known for the infamous hit on Kris Draper where he hit him from behind, forcing Drapers face into the boards. Draper suffered a broken jaw, shattered cheek, and orbital bone which needed surgery that involved his jaw being wired shut and a lot of stitches. This hit lead to the rivalry of the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche. Though Hollywood reeks of opportunistic capitalism, many of the writers and directors probably had some truly artistic roots and intentions deep inside them somewhere, at some time. The idea for DAT may have been centered on climate change, but the writers quickly tacked on a love story, dad son issues, crappy science, and man hunting wolves on top of the instantly induced ice age plot. As such, the movie sacrificed an originally plausible appeal to environmentalism for people who like a little less talk, a little more action. The movie was not all bad. One interesting technique was to cast the concept of climate change as inducing colder temperatures. Namely, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are two classic works of children s literature that for over a century have been read by children and adults alike. These two stories tell the tale of a young girl named Alice who finds herself in peculiar surroundings, where she encounters many different and unusual characters. This image of a chess board is fundamental to understanding the story in Through the Looking Glass and portrays a sense of logic and order to the reader. Throughout the story, the reader has a clear sense of direction as to where the story will go next and each chapter follows in sequence. Alice s journey in the second story is to go from being a pawn to that of a Queen. Carroll s use of the chess board is also important in Alice s transition to adulthood. Her journey across the chess board from being a pawn to reaching the status of Queen represents the growth of being a child to becoming an adult. This emphasis is conveyed primarily in Through the Looking Glass and Carroll conveys this through the encounters that Alice has with the various characters, mainly the Queens and the Kings. Following this ideology, volunteering in one s community would be a means to accomplish a more rewarding existence. • 43. The Rise And Fall Of Decadence In Thomas Cole s Gilded Age The Rise and Fall of Decadence Prominent American landscape painter through the Gilded Age, Thomas Cole, argued through his series of paintings The Course of Empire that authenticity may temporarily give way to decadence but when that occurs the natural course of empire will take place and decadence will without fail crumble. This notion of Cole believing that authenticity will overcome decadence is exemplified through his personal disagreements with human vanity, his pictorial style, and his influences. Thomas Cole produced paintings that embodied notions that were an antithesis to the developing ideals of consumerism and decadence in his time. Cole found solace in embracing the authenticity and spirituality of nature like many transcendentalists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to pay specific attention to how Cole utilizes the complex binary opposition between light and dark as well as the juxtaposition of the colors green and beige to reflect the dichotomy between decadence and authenticity. The first painting in the five part series is The Savage State (Fig.1) which depicts a place and time where nature is at its most pure form untainted by the follies of humanity. This notion of natural purity is exemplified by his composition balancing shadows on the left with light sky and shore on the right. Through balancing the light and dark he argues that this state of the Earth has the greatest natural balance; light and dark coexist but neither overpowers the other. Second in the series The Pastoral State (Fig.2) juxtaposes the first painting by having more lightness, greenness, and the introduction of a megalithic temple with a beige color. This juxtaposition exemplifies the notion the balance between light and dark is an indicator of natural harmony, and the color beige is an indicator human vanity. The Pastoral State(Fig.2) is lacking natural harmony but, it also lacks vanity so the empire depicted is still relatively ideal from the transcendentalist viewpoint. Following The Pastoral State(Fig.2) is The Consummation of Empire(Fig.3) which depicts an incredibly bright Empire composed of grand architecture and statues. Cole literally depicts the decadence of the civilization by covering it gold colored paint. He also progresses the notion that the beige color alludes to the natural imbalance of the Empire as well as an increase in human vanity. Eventually the imbalance must find a way back to balance and the empire crumbles in a dramatic fashion in Destruction(Fig.4). Once again, the light to dark duality is balanced and the green in the river battles the beige of the carved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Oven Room Analysis My first reason for thinking the drawings best think the drawings depict the Holocaust experience, because in the first portrayal The Oven Room by David Olere it shows people are carrying others in a cot to be cauterized. This depicts the Holocaust experience because in fact millions of Jews were killed and burned. They were put into the burners by their own people. And it is not just a few carcasses it s hundreds upon hundreds. And it also shows what happened in this man s everyday life in Auschwitz. My second claim is for the drawing also by David Olere called Birkenau. In this drawing what I feel depicts the Holocaust experience is, in this photo I see a least one hundred Jews going into the internment camp and in the back of the drawing ... • 45. Zagat Survey Case Study Part III Case Study III: Inferential Statistics This part of the case study will explore the application of inferential statistics to the Zagat Survey sample data. In Part II, claims were made that attempted to extrapolate the sample data to the population, but they were statistically invalid. So here in Part III, I will properly project the sample data into the population and compare it to the previous methods. Earlier in the study, the univariate estimate used was simply the mean value of the sample taken for the variable Cost. But this does not account for the presence of variation in a sample that could affect the mean. We can use this value within a standard normal distribution of sample means to try and narrow down the true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these values, along with the test statistic, are provided in the Excel regression output. An online F value calculator1 produced a Critical F Value of 2.704. As outlined in Appendix C, we reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the regression is in fact useful. Using the same null and alternative hypotheses, the same test can be performed for the regression between Décor and Cost. In this case, we reject the null hypothesis and confirm the alternative, which states that Décor (being the only independent variable) does in fact affect the Cost. So there is a direct relationship between the Décor and Cost. The multiple regression model does a good bob of predicting the Cost. As seen in Part II of the case study, the regression produced a relatively high Adjusted R Square value of .76406, which means that about 76% of the variation in Cost can be explained by the other variables (Appendix D). We can also see from this output that each variable is given a t Stat value. All of these values are higher than the Critical T Value (from T distribution table) for 99 degrees of freedom all the way up to the significance level of 1% (t = 2.364). And, as shown before, the F Value hypothesis testing for the regression as a whole proved that the regression was in fact useful. So all of these claims when used in concert provide strong evidence that this model has a high predictive value. The best estimation for Cost is going to be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
