Performance Championship Titles
Different Performance Championship Titles Your Dog Can Earn
For dogs to have a championship or Ch designation that is added as a prefix to their name, they must
qualify for a championship. In the past, title are earned from conformation shows, where dogs are
judged based on their breed, and how they conform to established breed types and individual breed
standards. These days, however, dogs are considered champions if they attain a high degree of
perfection in other dogs sports and performance championships.
Different kinds of performance championships for dogs
Championship titles often differ from one club to another. The American Kennel Club, for example,
has the Amateur Field Trial Champion (AFC), Coonhound Field Champion (CFC), and Supreme
Grand Champion (CSG), among others. The USDAA, on the other hand, follows the ... Show more

Cynologique Internationale s World Agility Championships. Most of these teams are sponsored by

Coursing championships
The type of championships are offered by various coursing clubs, which include the North American
Open Field Association, the North American Coursing Association, the American Sighthound Field
Association, and the American Kennel Club. Titles earned will depend on the club offering the
coursing championship. The Coursing Champion (CC) title is offered by the North American Open
field Association, while the NACA Coursing Champion (NACC) title is offered by the North
American Coursing Association.
Hunting trial championships
Hunting retriever championships (HRCH) is offered by the United Kennel Club for dogs who have

The Iroquois s Three Sisters
The Iroquois, known as the people of the longhouse, was made up of the five nations, Mohawk,
Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca. These peoples took advantage of their fertile soil
environment in the St. Lawrence Low Lands. These peoples partook in intensive slash and burn
horticulture and fishing in their fortified villages (Sage, 2016). The Iroquois relied heavily on
horticulture for a food source, and thus framed a lot of their social organization around subsistence.
The Three Sisters is a term used to understand the sacred powers of the three main crops corn, beans,
and squash that help to facilitate each other s growth through biogeochemical cycles. The Iroquois
lived in matrilineal societies and the women were given a lot of respect.

Black Is Black Ain T Essay
Film Evaluation: Black Is... Black Ain t The final film by Marlon Riggs, Black is...Black Ain t, is
concerned with the state of the African American community. This film essentially asks the question,
what does it mean to be black? The director and producer, Marlon Riggs, guides viewers along an an
up front examination of racism, sexism, and homophobia within the black community itself. Bringing
together personal stories, interviews, music, history, and performance, Black Is...Black Ain t asks
African Americans: What is black, black enough, or too black? 1 Unfortunately, the AIDS stricken

The film reminds us that slavery and its aftermath involved the emasculation physical as well as
psychological of black men, the drive for black power was usually taken to mean a call for black male
power, despite the needs of (and often with the complicity of) black women. That continues to result
in the devaluing of black female contributions to the liberation struggle and in the subordination of
black women in general. 4 The result of emasculation became hyper masculinity. This phenomenon
confined the meaning of what it meant to be black even further. For example, to be black is not to be
homosexual. This is due to the notion of homosexuality as the ultimate weakness. Hence there is often
prejudice of homosexuals in the black community. The homophobic initiative from the black Catholic
Church doesn t make the situation any better. Hence, Marlon Riggs ties in his own story as a gay black
man with AIDS. It really assists the film in showing the restrictions that exist in black unity. So what
is the black identity? Are you black enough? Do you talk black? Are you a hyper masculine
heterosexual male with kinky hair and a criminal record? I can see how it must be difficult to maintain
a sense of communal self. Angela Davis one of the speakers in the film, provides this answer: You take

Comparing A Streetcar Named Desire And A View From The Bridge
The plays A Streetcar Named Desire and A View from the Bridge are both plays that focus on mainly
the theme of domination of the female characters by the males. Where A Streetcar Named Desire is a
Southern Gothic, A View from a Bridge is a tragedy that is actually similar to Williams play as they
both end tragically for the main character. Each playwright uses their own method and techniques in
order to get the message or point of view across to the audience members.
In A Streetcar Named Desire, the form of a Southern Gothic gives the readers its distinct build up of
tension in the play s scenes. Throughout the play, the structure closely follows the confrontation
between Stanley and Blanche and the tension starts to build up. As the ... Show more content on

Alfieri s emphasis on was , as a saddening case for him and the use of an external analepsis creates
suspension in the play and the audience members wonder what will happen next. This technique
creates different atmospheres to run parallel to the play s progressing plot.
In scene one, Williams considers this scene as the one of the most important scenes of the whole play
as the first scenes generally attract a significant amount of the audience members attention. Williams
also teasingly throws hints and clues about the truth of each of the main characters. The characters are
portrayed as if the play was a mystery with Stanley having suspicions about Blanche. He converses his
suspicions with Stella, trying to convince her Open your eyes [...] she got them out of a teacher s play?
Here, Williams portrays Stella as a woman with a difficulty to understand Stanley s accusations of her
sister. Moreover, following Stella s lack of understanding it is easily preferable to the layers of an
onion. Williams compares Stella to an onion as, like an onion, Stanley has to constantly *peel* the
layers of Stella s brain mentally in order for Stella to understand.
On the other hand, Alfieri is not always two sided and does

The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory Essay
The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory
The importance of memory is very high in comparison to the content of the memory. We use memory
to recall information such as where you park your car upon arrival at the mall, the time and channel a
particular news special is to be aired, or the types of drugs to which your child may be allergic. The
former two are processed very shallowly. The information may be needed today but two weeks later, it
is not important and most likely not remembered due to the weak memory trace. The latter of the three
examples is vital information which is processed much more deeply that the other two.
With the way that amnesiacs memory work, and patients with MS or focal lesions or Alzheimer s
disease, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would have to remember what was previously presented, and recall the words to complete the
word list.
A method of influencing, or priming, both the implicit and explicit memory is by altering the depth, or
level of processing (LOP), prior to performing the word list. Altering the depth refers to the amount of
cognitive processing it takes to interpret information. In these studies, the LOP is typically
manipulated by changing what qualities about the words the participant is focusing on. Depending on
how the LOP is changed will determine whether the participant is using a deep LOP or shallow LOP
to process the information presented.
Deep LOPs are affected participant s interpretations of words on a list by their semantic meanings and
uses such as their pleasantness, their meaning, or how they fit into a particular sentence or category.
Shallow LOPs use less detail about the words and look at more nonsemantic qualities of the words
such as the font in which the words are printed, searching for particular letters, counting the number of
letters, or counting the number of vowels.
Implicit and explicit memory is affected by the LOP. The more time and thinking that go into
interpreting a word (i.e. meaning or usage), the more likely it will be that the word can be quickly
recalled. As information is gathered from different sources throughout the day, such as watching
television commercials, reading instructions, or

Gristan Und Isolde Analysis
Richard Wagner changed the world s understanding and perception of opera when he composed,
Tristan und Isolde . This opera is based on the romantic legend, Tristan , by Gottfried von Strassburg.
What distinguishes this particular work from anything else of its time is the foundation and meaning
of love and the untraditional love story that unfolds. Wagner does not hesitate to violate the collective
regard for the love of life and, in turn, the life of love. By writing his own libretto, Wagner s opera
symbolizes what perfect love is and the way in which it contributes to eternal life and death. Over the
course of his life, Wagner was regarded as a determined and somewhat controversial individual. His
compositional works are no exception to these characteristics. This is largely due to the fact that his
libretto writing is reflective of his own experiences and feelings. When he had written Tristan und
Isolde , Wagner was coping with drama and complication in his personal life. At this point of his life
he was married to Minna Planner. Their relationship faced some hardship and developed into a rigid
partnership. During this time, Wagner was a very vulnerable being and took comfort in his companion,
Mathilde Wesendonk. Her husband, Otto Wesendock, was a very wealthy banker and a patron of
Wagner s work. He provided Wagner with a small villa to reside in to continue composing and
inventing. Eventually, Mathilde moved in next door to Wagner. As their relationship continued to
flourish, they progressed from a teacher and student dynamic to adulterous lovers. Unfortunately, the
situation resulted in a crisis, exposing their inappropriate relationship in the process. This turn of
events inspired Wagner to write the libretto of Tristan und Isolde as he was left with dissatisfaction
and unfulfilled passion. This turn of events in his life prompted Wagner to stop writing another one of
his most highly regarded pieces, Der Ring des Nibelungen , to begin writing Tristan und Isolde . One
of the more notable pieces of inspiration of his libretto resulted after meeting philosopher, Arthur
Schopenhauer. Many of Schopenhauer s ideas were eye opening and impactful on Wagner s general
perception. His first form

Persuasive Essay On Child Circumcision
Imagine you are in hospital room somewhere in Malaysia. A young girl timidly toddles in with her
mother, and is soon restrained by her mother and a medical attendant while her genitals are cut against
her will. This will ensure that her body is cleaner, her mother has been conditioned to think. It will
also make her daughter s genitals look more aesthetically pleasing. After the procedure has been
completed, the girl lay there suffering in pain, and the doctor proudly announces to her mother,
Congratulations! Her circumcision is finished! As appalling as it is to imagine this scenario, thousands
of American newborns go through this trauma every day; simply change the gender from girl to boy.
Routine infant circumcision (RIC) is described as the nonreligious elective removal of the prepuce of
the penis in the days following birth, [and] is the most common surgery performed in the United
States. (Mitchell and Beal)
Although circumcision is thought to be one of the oldest procedures in the world, the manner in which
American doctors perform it is relatively new. Unbeknownst to most modern day Americans,
circumcision wasn t widely practiced in the country until about 1910. As a matter of fact, none of our
founding fathers, including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, were circumcised! Americans
tend to be dumbfounded when they learn that about 80 percent of the world s population do not
practice circumcision, nor have they ever done so. (Wallerstein) We are, in

The Productivity And Flexibility Of The Labor Market
The efficiency and flexibility of the labor market are critical for ensuring that workers are allocated to
their most effective. In Dubai hires skilled foreign workers mostly from South East Asia to fulfill its
needs. Labor markets must therefore have the flexibility to shift workers from one economic activity
to another. In today s globalized world, technology is increasingly essential for firms to compete and
prosper. The technological readiness measures the agility with which an economy adopts existing
technologies to enhance the productivity of its industries, with specific emphasis on its capacity to
fully leverage information and communication technologies. The size of the market affects
productivity since large markets allow firms to exploit economies of scale. Traditionally, the markets
available to firms have been constrained by national borders. In the era of globalization, international
markets have become a substitute for domestic markets, especially for small countries. There is no
doubt that sophisticated business practices are conducive to higher efficiency in the production of
goods and services. Business sophistication concerns two elements that are intricately linked.
Innovation can emerge from new technological and non technological knowledge. Non technological
innovations are closely related to the know how, skills, and working conditions that are embedded in
organizations. Although all the above said characteristics of competitive advantage sound

Attention Getter: I m certain that everyone in this classroom does not want to fall into the statistics of
being unemployment after graduation. Therefore, you should take into consideration my speech about
how you can avoid this situation and start acting now.
Thesis: I will be stating some steps that will ensure you to be successful individuals and help you
avoid the experience of being an unemployed college graduate.
Relevancy: This topic pertains to all of us even me because were all college students and some of us
are closer to graduation. As we individually approach our graduations, we need to prepare for the next
stage in our paths. Sometimes it s hard to admit that we need some assistance before taking off in our
careers.
Credibility: While I was conducting my research, I was fortunate to get more insight from Jenna
Heath, a career professional in the Career Services office. I was able to learn more about the services
they offer and conclude my theory of how beneficial it is to seek their resources.
More introductory information:
I conducted an in person survey interview with Jenna from Career Services who gave me more insight
of how undergraduate students are utilizing their services. Within the last week an estimated 30
students schedule an appointment or dropped in for advising into their office. In a school with 29,700
students that number seems low for the number of students that could potentially need help but that

Study Abroad Personal Statement
From an early age, I had the desire to give back to my community. This desire was likely instilled in
me by my mother, who as a school teacher, went to great lengths to help her students achieve
academically. To better do this, she created at Tupelo Middle School in Mississippi, the Mermaids and
Argonauts Program, which allowed students to travel on extended school trips to locations where they
were able to have hands on experiences at zoos, science labs, colleges, museums, and more across the
country. As her child, I was able to tag along on many of these trips, which fueled my desire to learn
about and interact with my environment. It left me with the great hope that someday I would be able
to have such experiences abroad, in order to better learn about the people and cultures with which I
interact. For this reason, I hope to study abroad this summer in Pachuca, Mexico.

Retreat of the Elephants is a book in which the author Mark Elvin presents two large issues: How has
the Chinese culture changed in the past four thousand years? And, in what ways did the distinctive

Tuareg Rebellion
After the 2012 Tuareg Rebellion, Mali has not recovered from the political unrest. The country has
multiple factions fighting for complete power or independence from Mali as a country according to
Adolphus Washington of Global Risk Insights. These factions have geographic spheres of influence
throughout Northern and Southern Mali which are based on tribal and/or religious origins.
Consequently, using Paulette Kurzer s definition of a state being a country with a supreme power to
make and enforce; Mali does not meet these requirements. There are too many local areas whom are
being ruled by various factions to say that the national government meets the requirements to be a
state. Not only has the Malian government failed on multiple occasions, Mali has required French
intervention to enforce the law when the government was incapable. Therefore, the government of
Mali is not a supreme power over the divided nation, leaving it unable to create or enforce laws to

DescartesMeditations, To What Extent Are We Able To...
With reference to Descartes Meditations , to what extent are we able to distinguish between reality and
illusion?
Meditations outlines Descartes method of justifying, through reasoning alone, his initial beliefs
concerning the existence of reality as he perceives it. This challenge of scepticism is itself achieved
through adopting a temporary sceptical approach in meditations 1 and 2. By way of mental
deconstruction and evaluation of all that he had previously considered true, Descartes is left with only
the elements that he is able to ascertain are certain and indubitable . He first asserts our apparent
inability to distrust our senses in distinguishing reality from illusion. This process forms the
foundations from which he may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first meditation, through providing three arguments (waves) as to the nature of our inability to
distinguish reality from illusion, Descartes makes a convincing argument as to why we would, prior to
his reasoned proof of existence of God, disregard all a posteriroi knowledge as a viable source of
information abou the world. In the first wave Descartes questions the legitammacy of the information
provided by the senses. He provides the example of the way in which our sense of perspective
funtions, stating senses occasionally decieve us about things that are veru small or very far away , to
call into question that which we so often rely on to provide us with an accurate account of reality .
Descartes method demands that if reason is to doubt a foundation then all knowledge based on that
foundation should be rejected; of the senses he articulates having occcasionlly found that they

us . In this way Descartes is seeking to undermine empiricism, his abandoning of he sense principle is
utilied to porve that senses are our main soucrce of error.

addresses the stereotype surrounding Asians and while her demeanor throughout her writing remains
mostly analytical, occasionally, her tone changes to a more colloquial, opinionated manner. In this
way, she is mostly effective in delivering her statement about positive stereotypes but becomes too
personally involved within her own writing. Yook first begins by addressing the meaning of the phrase

her credibility away. Colloquial terms such as For the love of everything that s good and pure, and

instance of unprofessionalism is when she would address the audience personally, using I and me .
She often reiterates how the stereotype makes her feel But this positive prejudice is just as threatening

can offer a closer inspection of how these stereotypes affect a person, it does help with her
argumentation. Giving a critique on a subject such as this, the author must hold no opinions and be
subjective. Throughout her essay, the emotions towards the stereotype began to grow negatively. She
would address Asians as my race which made her argument even more personal than professional.

Scarlet Letter Ethical Dilemmas
We live in a society today where people judge us of our mistakes even when they possibly have worse
mistakes than us. Along with these judgings are the consequences we face for our mistake, sometimes
worse than others but we must face them nonetheless. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne has to deal
with these things in a society where church and law were the same. In a more modern day society
Naomi Campbell a well renowned model had to deal with the judging and consequences of mistakes
she made just as Hester did. Both of these women had made mistakes in which the separate societies
they lived in heavily judged them. Not only were they judged but, they were legally persecuted.
Naomi s persecution somewhat lesser than Hester s but, nonetheless they were persecuted for their
wrongs. Naomi and Hester both made mistakes but their mistakes were completely different. Hester as
a shop owner explained to Chillingworth Marry good sir, in some two years, or less, that the woman
has been a dweller here in Boston, no tidings have come from this learned gentleman, Master Prynne;
and his young wife, look you, being left to her own misguidance had committed adultery (Hawthorne

known nationwide thanks to the press which has said in the fashion world Naomi Campbell has been
accused more than once of using her cell phone as a weapon , this news, told her mistake to the world

Summary Of The Trial Of Bessie Dunlop
In Witch, Fairy and Folktale Narratives in the Trial of Bessie Dunlop , Henderson uses primary
sources like Bessie Dunlop s confession, which allows Henderson to link Bessie s case as one of the
earliest and most descriptive accounts that involve fairy encounters. Another confession that
Henderson provides is that of Janet Boyman of Edinburgh, who was accused of raising evil spirits at a

evidence that witches did in fact exist and the context in which witch trials and executions occurred.
Another source used by Henderson are witch testimonies, such as those found in Malleus Maleficarum

number of executions that took place. The secondary sources that Henderson such as Book of

The other reason I am against the resolution is that some people do experiments without the person s

Essay on Text Talk in Students’ Formal Writing
Several decades ago, Ain t ain t a word was a favorite litany of English teachers everywhere, and they
sang it whenever that offending word cropped up in a student s speech or writing. Today, however, ain
t is a word firmly entrenched in dictionaries, nonstandard, but a word nonetheless. Now, looming on
the horizon is something which may make language arts teachers long for the days of ain t text talk.
Text talk, or text speak, is the language of abbreviations, acronyms, and emoticons people use when
communicating through short message service (SMS) on their cell phones, or when instant messaging
and emailing each other, and it is beginning to creep into students formal writing. Teachers, not just
language arts teachers, hate seeing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In talking with teens, Donna Alvermann (2007) found even those who claim they strongly dislike
writing and never write outside school write entire paragraphs while texting, and some even create
alternate identities for different chat rooms, thus engaging in creative writing. Teens prefer to text their
ideas and feelings because it is less risky than speaking them, and Alvermann suggests content area
teachers can capitalize on that.
Teaching through Texting Language is not static; it grows and develops, and, like ain t, such textisms
as LOL (laughing out loud) and BRB (be right back) may someday become acceptable English. Young
people already speak many of their text talk abbreviations. The fact of the matter is the technology that
spurred the development of this new language is here to stay, which means text talk is here to stay, and
taking a hard line on keeping it out of the classroom is a losing battle. It is a losing battle teachers don
t have to fight because they can harness the potential of text talk as a teaching tool. Kristen Hawley
Turner (2009) advocates using text talk to teach students how to consciously code switch, or switch
back and forth between informal and formal English usage. She and her graduate students developed

Similarities And Similarities Between Blues And Jazz
The relation between Blues and Jazz music can be discovered if we look closely and scrutinize the
origins of both the music genres. How one developed can be found out from the roots of the other as
both the separate genres use similar sound patterns. Both of these genres belong to a different
decade/era however, are closely linked to one another. In this essay I will deliver a brief history of
both Blues and Jazz, their similarities, and also discuss how the advancement of technology has
affected the way we hear both these genres of music.
Looking back at the history of Blues music, one can see the influence of the African American
community, tradition, and culture very apparent in it. The Blues music genre came into being from the

Blues and Jazz began to share similarities during the 30s and 40s with artists like T Bone Walker and
B.B. King, who combined Jazz techniques with the tonality and repertoire of their Blues music
(Rolling Stone Encyclopedia, 53). In return, Blues chord progressions such as the twelve bar blues are
utilized by Jazz musicians during the improvisational sections of their music pieces.
To remark on some of the different features of both the styles of music, the main difference between
Blues and Jazz is the fact that Blues is characterized by the slow, melancholic tempo and lyrics, and
the utilization of guitar and piano. Whereas Jazz music relies on the basic chord structure and breaks
off into heavy improvisational sections being tied back in with the same basic tune. It is true that the
advent of Blues music came well before Jazz, however, the great influence that Jazz has in the Blues
music heard today is astonishing. Similar to the Jazz long improvisational sections, the Blues of today
has adopted that strategy and added long sections of guitar solos being tied back with the same basic
chord structure and vocal

How People Give Up Rights When Using an Airline
Many people modern day use airlines as a form of transportation. To be able to use this service
passengers must have their bags and personal belongings checked by the airline. Airlines do this for
the safety of their passengers and to ensure that no catastrophe happens during flight. But when this is
done are passengers giving up their rights? Is it right for someone to go through your personal
belongings? Or is this procedure only for security reasons? What rights do airplane passengers give up
by allowing themselves to be checked before boarding?
When Someone travels with an airline they must have their baggage checked before boarding the

open the secure container containing the firearm. 4.ant and all ammunition must be placed in fiber or

container as the unloaded firearm. As long as when traveling with a firearm you follow all of these
procedures you can legally bring a gun with you while traveling with an airline. Once again these
rules might restrict your rights as an American citizen but they do NOT take away your rights as an
American citizen. And there is also rules with sharp objects such as knives. The only rule that there is
on these items is,1. It can not be in carry on luggage and it must be securely wrapped to prevent injury.
So once again it is one hundred percent legal to bring a weapon with you while flying with an airline
service. Also if someone fells that having their baggage checked is taking away their rights that is also
not true. The FAA (a government run organization) enforces these rules and regulations for the airline
passengers safety and for no other reason except for the passenger s safety. Also by having these rules
enforced by the government they can not possibly eliminate your rights as an American citizen
(although they might restrict them temporarily). And concerning the rule for having baggage checked,

Ownership And Sense Of Self
What does it mean to you when you own something? Is it the gratification that makes it rewarding? Or
is it the cost and struggle it took to buy it? Or how about what others think about your object?
Ownership and sense of self comes together as a perception of how we see ourself being an owner.
Buying something from a store or from a person makes it yours. When you buy something you re
paying for it in money that you earned which then makes it yours. People might say if they take an
object or find it, the object then belongs to them. They would be wrong since it would still belong to
that person even though they have it in their possession.
Ownership is important in a way that makes it a part of you. Mortimer J. Adler wrote, Full

Persuasive Essay On Antidepressant In Children
Depression is defined as a mental illness in which a person is experiencing deep sadness and
loneliness. It is known as one of the most common mental illnesses and it affects all kinds of people,
regardless of sex, age and religion. Many people are not aware that depression is not only diagnosed in
adults, but in children and adolescents as well. Therefore, there is a debate about whether children
suffering from depression should be allowed to take antidepressants. Antidepressant drugs should be
prescribed for children suffering from depression under the conditions of doctors limiting the
medication, including therapy and having the parents informed/educated.

Antidepressant drugs, which can be lifesaving, are being underused in young people. Their use fell
significantly after the Food and Drug Administration issued its black box warning in October of 2004,
stating that all antidepressants were associated with a risk of increased suicidal feeling, thinking and
behavior in adolescents; later on that warning was extended to young adults (Friedman 1). The Food
and Drug Administration FDA ordered drug companies to place a black box warning on antidepressant
drugs, this would then allow parents to see the side effects the drug might come with. As
antidepressants can have its benefits, it is not the only way to treat a mental illness like depression.
The majority of parents believe antidepressant is the only treatment and that psychotherapy is a waste
of time and money. About 80 percent of people with depression respond positively to professional
medical treatment usually talk therapy, medication or a combination of both and almost all patients

Ethical Problems With Drones
Ethical Problems with Drone Usage Drones are a new and versatile technology with a multitude of

privacy, when used in the hands of an experienced pilot with a good moral compass. Commercial
Drone Use Tim Yakaitis of Connecticut uses drones for filming property for real estate listings and
other services in his company DroneOn (Townsend, 2014). A simple quadcopter drone with a GoPro
camera hanging underneath, is all that is necessary for him to run this niche business, which he

drones are a reasonably new niche for public drone use, due to the recent innovation of working quad
rotor drones versus the typical single fixed blade like a helicopter (Rothstein, 2015). Quad rotor

Tehuana Self Portrait
Portraits are some of the most common paintings within the art community, as long as people have
made art there have been portraits. For the first few thousand years, portraits, whether drawn, painted
or sculpted, were typically reserved for those deemed important enough to be honored with a work of
art bearing their likeness. This thought still rains true, but the consideration of those named important
enough has then shifted. Along with that the meaning of a portrait has changed to become more
complex at first glance. Frida Kahlo, Tehuana Self Portrait, 1940 and Francois Boucher, Madame de
Pompadour, 1750 are two portraits that offer a story within the painting itself, suggesting more than

This roasting process brings out the flavor of the coffee beans. Without it, coffee would taste similar to
a plant instead of the drink all Americans know and love. There are four different types of roasts: light,
medium, medium dark, and dark. The National Coffee Association describes the light roast as a pale
brown color, a milder taste compared to a dark roast, and, on the surface of the beans themselves,
there is no oil present. The medium roast is an medium brown color with a stronger flavor than the
light roast. It s commonly referred to as the American Roast because it is preference of most
Americans. With a rich, dark color and a bittersweet aftertaste, the medium dark roast is a step up
from the medium roast. Its beans, unlike the light roast beans, are slightly oily on the surface. Dark
roasts are the strongest out of the four kinds. To create these, roasters use shiny black beans, and roast
them until they have an oily surface. The taste of this roast is far stronger than any of the other roasts;
this creates a bitter and less acidic taste (National Coffee Institute). Because I love the taste of coffee,
but strong coffee is too powerful for me, my best option is to go with a medium roast. Most people in
the United States prefer this roast, so I can t go wrong.

The Culture Of Australian Aborigines
Australian Aborigines Are People identical or akin when their activities and productions are alike
(Mason 101 117)? Amongst cultures, which are geographically far away from each other one can find
very similar customs, industry, fine art and government or myth. How can it be that two people that
have never seen each other have so many things in common? Although every single person may have
their own identity, characteristics, interests and loves and fears, they are all still very similar. Instinct
sameness is the term for every individual being alike. This can be seen in the human psyche, which is
basically the same for every man and woman. Furthermore, every human being craves love and seeks
survival. Both, coming of age and marriage rituals are shared by most cultures. While the rituals vary
from culture to culture, coming of age rituals are usually supposed to mark a boy/girl s entrance into
adulthood. Safety is probably the number one affair we deal with and since the coming of age is the
time where a boy/girl becomes a lot more independent, we want them to be safe. Not every culture
defines a certain age when someone is considered an adult, like in the USA where you are an adult
once you are 18 years old. In cultures, where survival is an everyday fight, coming of age rituals are a
significant test to tell when a boy/girl is ready to survive on his/her own. While coming of age is

In the DC plan, the final benefits are unknown, but there are fixed contributions whereas in the DC
plan, because there is promise of a numerical benefit, the contributions vary as a result of time value
of money. This fundamentally means that the risk for the final benefit payout in the DB plan is borne
by the employer whereas in the DC plan, the pensioner bears this risk (Beechy Conrad, 2008).
Contributions to a pension fund are an expense for the employer, hence to describe in simple terms, on
a per pay basis, an employer will credit the pension fund with amount of pension funds the employee
is entitled to. This amount is the present value of the future payment stream payable to the employee
upon retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). The present value calculations of these obligations require
estimates of factors such as: investment earnings, future salary increases, employee turnover, mortality
rates, and life expectancy after retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). Actuarial models are used to
generate the probabilities used to calculate the pension obligation today, that will result in the
promised payout in the future. While companies do not have to worry about the funding status of DC
plans, those that offer the DB plan bear the perpetual burden of ensuring that the plans are funded.
There are three basic actuarial methods that can be used by an employer to fund the plan. The first
method is the accumulated benefit

Were you surprised? Was it what you expected? I think in the beginning I was a bit confused on even
how cows even developed the disease, but after reading further into the report it really surprised me
how rapid this disease developed. I didn t expect the actual carrier to be so complex as it was. I did not
expect it to be so transferable to know that almost all the meat that people eat from a cow in the most
infectious areas. Was (were) your question(s) fully answered by what you found in the research? If
you had a hypothesis was it supported by the research or not? If not, what question(s) remain to be
resolved? In conclusion, the questions that I have asked myself been answered tremendously. The only
question that still really remains is, have we contained the situation? Or are we still facing the issue of
potential worldwide infection? What was the most valuable thing you learned from doing this

Spanish And Aztec Cultural Encounter

HIST 1312 02

Spanish and Aztec Cultural Encounter
On November 8, 1519, Spanish leader, Hernan Cortes landed in modern day Mexico, bringing along
six hundred Spaniards and a lot of native allies. The Aztecs, who were natives in Mexico, welcomed
Cortez with opened arms because they believed he was one of their gods, Quetzalcoatl. From the
beginning, they were willing to share their land and wealth with the Spaniards but they Spaniards did
not want to share this land and began to continue with their plan to conquer the land. Throughout this
two year campaign where the Spanish and Aztecs were fighting for ownership of the land, and after
thousands of people killed, the Spanish conquered the land, seizing the existence of the Aztec Empire.
This cultural encounter changed the lives of both the Aztec and Spaniards greatly by the change in
language, religion, and the benefits this take over had on the Spanish Empire. Once central Mexico
was taken over by the Spaniards, the use of the Aztec language, Nahuatl, was quickly put to an end.
The Spaniards saw that the two different languages kept a separation between the two cultures and
decided to force everyone under the Spanish rule to speak Spanish. Spanish is still the language
spoken in Mexico even after all of the different attacks and takeovers. The Aztec s did not like this
idea of taking away their language. Most of them were grown adults and had all they had known was

During the experiment the researcher explained the subject...
During the experiment the researcher explained the subject that first they will do a test, followed by a
warm up and after they will repeat the same test. The participants were very receptive, following
carefully what the researcher told them. When the test has started all the participants lined up, being
ready to perform. The timer has started and each and every subject did their best. After the first test
has ended, a warm up came next, where the subjects had to do jogging for two minutes, high knees
both ways of the court, heel flicks, sidewalk running, jumping jacks, and sprints starting from a low to
a high intensity. Some of the participants seemed very tired, saying that will have a bad result the
second time and some participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
8. There were a few limitations found in this project. First of all is the small number of participants.
Second is the gender limitation as in this project was just one female and four males, and it would
have been better to have more females to compare the results between them, because females scores
are always different then males scores. Time was another obstacle, because if there would have been
more time the researcher would have done two or three exercises. In this research project all the
variables have been controlled, but there were a few unexpected variables: one of the participants did
his best in the first attempt, but after the warm up he performed the test just for the sake of doing it,
putting no effort in it at all, wanting to finish faster. Another extraneous variable was the slippery floor
which made some of the participants to add a few seconds extra to their score.
9. As a conclusion this experiment has been very useful, because it showed that warm up makes a
difference in an athlete s life. By taking into consideration the scientist s advices everyone makes their
life easier, and have a better chance to win a competition. This research project should inform not only
the athletes, but the other people that want to exercise that warm up should be part of their daily
routine. As said in the beginning it was proven that warm up does have advantages when it comes to
exercising as

Theseus In The Maze Runner
The book and recent movie adaptation, The Maze Runner, is strongly related to the life
of Theseus and more specifically the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur in the labyrinth. The
relationship and the similarities are clearly demonstrated through Thomas s character and
personality while comparing him to Theseus. The main characters are not the only aspect of this
series that is influenced by Greek mythology; the animals, or grievers are a representation of
the Minotaur and the challenges they present to the children. Also, simply based on the title, the
setting is another indisputable connection to the myth of the labyrinth.
The plot of the book is where one can notice the most obvious connections to the myth.
For example, the story centers around young boys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though
discrepancies occur, such as the time spans or the genders of the children, it is undeniable that
this story is almost completely based off of the Greek myth. Some other general plot similarities
include; the minotaur/griever attacks on the children, the heroes voluntary choice to go against
the animals, and the 50/50 body composition of the animals Minotaur is half human and half
animal while the grievers are half animal and half human made machine.
Taking a deeper look at the main character, Thomas, we see many characteristics that
would be considered heroic ones in the Greek and Roman times. The most evident connection
is through their willingness to risk their lives. Although Thomas did not volunteer to go to the
Glade as Theseus had, he did chose to go inside the maze and risk his life there among the
grievers in the hopes of finding an escape. Their bravery connects them in multiple ways,
especially when attempting to prove their self worth. Thomas has to consistently prove himself
to the older members of the Glade, usually involving going into the maze or other

That continues to result in the devaluing of black female contributions to the liberation struggle and in the subordination of black women in general. 4 The result of emasculation became hyper masculinity. This phenomenon confined the meaning of what it meant to be black even further. For example, to be black is not to be homosexual. This is due to the notion of homosexuality as the ultimate weakness. Hence there is often prejudice of homosexuals in the black community. The homophobic initiative from the black Catholic Church doesn t make the situation any better. Hence, Marlon Riggs ties in his own story as a gay black man with AIDS. It really assists the film in showing the restrictions that exist in black unity. So what is the black identity? • 6. The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory Essay The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory The importance of memory is very high in comparison to the content of the memory. We use memory to recall information such as where you park your car upon arrival at the mall, the time and channel a particular news special is to be aired, or the types of drugs to which your child may be allergic. The former two are processed very shallowly. The information may be needed today but two weeks later, it is not important and most likely not remembered due to the weak memory trace. They would have to remember what was previously presented, and recall the words to complete the word list. A method of influencing, or priming, both the implicit and explicit memory is by altering the depth, or level of processing (LOP), prior to performing the word list. Altering the depth refers to the amount of cognitive processing it takes to interpret information. In these studies, the LOP is typically manipulated by changing what qualities about the words the participant is focusing on. Depending on how the LOP is changed will determine whether the participant is using a deep LOP or shallow LOP to process the information presented. Deep LOPs are affected participant s interpretations of words on a list by their semantic meanings and uses such as their pleasantness, their meaning, or how they fit into a particular sentence or category. Shallow LOPs use less detail about the words and look at more nonsemantic qualities of the words such as the font in which the words are printed, searching for particular letters, counting the number of letters, or counting the number of vowels. Implicit and explicit memory is affected by the LOP. • 7. Gristan Und Isolde Analysis Richard Wagner changed the world s understanding and perception of opera when he composed, Tristan und Isolde . This opera is based on the romantic legend, Tristan , by Gottfried von Strassburg. What distinguishes this particular work from anything else of its time is the foundation and meaning of love and the untraditional love story that unfolds. Wagner does not hesitate to violate the collective regard for the love of life and, in turn, the life of love. By writing his own libretto, Wagner s opera symbolizes what perfect love is and the way in which it contributes to eternal life and death. Over the course of his life, Wagner was regarded as a determined and somewhat controversial individual. His compositional works are no exception to these characteristics. This is largely due to the fact that his libretto writing is reflective of his own experiences and feelings. When he had written Tristan und Isolde , Wagner was coping with drama and complication in his personal life. At this point of his life he was married to Minna Planner. Their relationship faced some hardship and developed into a rigid partnership. During this time, Wagner was a very vulnerable being and took comfort in his companion, Mathilde Wesendonk. Her husband, Otto Wesendock, was a very wealthy banker and a patron of Wagner s work. He provided Wagner with a small villa to reside in to continue composing and inventing. Eventually, Mathilde moved in next door to Wagner. As their relationship continued to flourish, they progressed from a teacher and student dynamic to adulterous lovers. Unfortunately, the situation resulted in a crisis, exposing their inappropriate relationship in the process. This turn of events inspired Wagner to write the libretto of Tristan und Isolde as he was left with dissatisfaction and unfulfilled passion. This turn of events in his life prompted Wagner to stop writing another one of his most highly regarded pieces, Der Ring des Nibelungen , to begin writing Tristan und Isolde . One of the more notable pieces of inspiration of his libretto resulted after meeting philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer. Many of Schopenhauer s ideas were eye opening and impactful on Wagner s general perception. His first form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blues and Jazz began to share similarities during the 30s and 40s with artists like T Bone Walker and B.B. King, who combined Jazz techniques with the tonality and repertoire of their Blues music (Rolling Stone Encyclopedia, 53). In return, Blues chord progressions such as the twelve bar blues are utilized by Jazz musicians during the improvisational sections of their music pieces. To remark on some of the different features of both the styles of music, the main difference between Blues and Jazz is the fact that Blues is characterized by the slow, melancholic tempo and lyrics, and the utilization of guitar and piano. Whereas Jazz music relies on the basic chord structure and breaks off into heavy improvisational sections being tied back in with the same basic tune. It is true that the advent of Blues music came well before Jazz, however, the great influence that Jazz has in the Blues music heard today is astonishing. Similar to the Jazz long improvisational sections, the Blues of today has adopted that strategy and added long sections of guitar solos being tied back with the same basic chord structure and vocal ... Contributions to a pension fund are an expense for the employer, hence to describe in simple terms, on a per pay basis, an employer will credit the pension fund with amount of pension funds the employee is entitled to. This amount is the present value of the future payment stream payable to the employee upon retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008).
