about the tragedy of Chris McCandless by including himself in the story for his own personal benefit.
He does this rather than reporting on the death in hopes of informing the world on the reasons behind
such a shocking incident. With wants to make others feel he is accomplished, the egotistical narrator
wanders off topic describing his personal climb up the Devils Thumb. Instead of allowing the reader
to decide their individual thoughts on McCandless and adventurers, Jon Krakauer acts bias by stating
