Positive Role Model
Title
Imagine living in a world without role models. Creation would be an immense chaotic mess with the
population acting like heathens. Similar to a flower that does not receive enough nourishments
gradually perishing, without positive role models feeding our youth, creation would inhabit
senselessness and eventually terminate. Today, in the society we live in, people are more concerned on
the public status, or simply the exterior appearance, of a person rather than the example they are
setting. Leading to the question, what is a positive role model? Well, this can be very complex in
explaining, everyone s ideal role model can vary from one and another. One of the most generic
definitions according to Collins English Dictionary, of role a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A value is something someone believes to be important or admirable. Values can include, although are
not limited to, relationships, religion, health, and etc. An important value of a wonderful role model is
honesty. This does not entail insulting, and pointing out others misfortunes in interest of the truth.
Instead, an honest person is accurate, shows fairness, and has consideration for others feelings. One
value that would be worthy to follow, is someone to does not participate in drug misuse, underage
drinking, or any other illegal activities. This represents integrity, at the same time as exhibiting to
others that they can have increased fun without breaking the law. One of the utmost commendable
values of a good role model is one who values religion. Gods translucent light presents itself through
this person s speech, in addition to his actions. This displays obedience, willingness to listen to
authority, love, and commitment. Worthy values of a great role model further extend to a variety of
other things depending on one s moral values. In order to demonstrate one s values, he must display
them to everyone, much like a farmer would display his

United States vs. Foreign Nations: Funding amp; Reimbursing Healthcare Services
In this document I will discuss the health care system of three foreign nations versus the United States.
Specifically, focusing on how physicians and hospitals are reimbursed and funded in the United States
as opposed to foreign nations. The three other foreign nations that will be involved in this discussion
will be: Germany, Canada, and United Kingdom. Reimbursement/funding of health care services
varies from nation to nation. Each of these countries inhabits a different point on the international
healthcare continuum. In this critical analysis you will read about the ... Show more content on

Instead of viewing healthcare as an expense, this system will cause Americans to think of healthcare
as an investment and evaluate services and costs based on the return on investment. If this system is
utilized, management will be forced to pay attention to refining the quality of care delivered to
patients along with the timeliness and manner, which will lead to better clinical, quality of life, and
economic outcomes (Watanabe et al, 2004). In order to try to implement this sort of reimbursement
system, the system would need to reward specific behaviors that providers and patient s display. It
would also need to reward behaviors it wants to encourage such as preventative medicine. This system
would reimburse providers based on the level of commitment they offer towards the health of
individuals and the community.
Germany Germany was the first country in the world to legislate health insurance as compulsory for
all. The nation has a contribution based social insurance model (Doring amp; Paul, 2010). According
to Bodenheimer and Grumbach, Germany and its pioneering law of 1883 required certain employers
and employees to make payments to existing voluntary sickness funds (2012, p. 169). The sickness
funds would compensate for the covered employees medical care. Germany provides statutory health

Tfr Case Study
This paper explores the events that contributed to the ambush of Task Force Ranger (TFR) and their
Pyrrhic victory over the Somali National Alliance (SNA) from 3 4 October 1993. The majority of
military and political historians concur that the Battle of Mogadishu hastened the departure of a
tenuous US military presence in Somalia. TF Ranger was successful in accomplishing their objective
of capturing six key lieutenants of Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid, but failed in the ensuing
extraction due to a complex ambush perpetrated by the SNA militia. This paper aims to illuminate the
intelligence failures and how these factors effected the events of the battle. A comprehensive summary
of the battle will lead to an analysis of the key actions and decisions, building to a possible outcome.

aircraft providing constant surveillance of the target TFR moved to the target aboard 14 helicopters.
TFR used the same TTPs during some of their previous raids. TFR simultaneously sent a ground

Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy
Introduction
There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service based economy to an
experience based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer
their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued
experience. The service profit chain which links the employees , customers and owners satisfaction
stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic
and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every place,
they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic.
According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, an experience occurs when a company
intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way
that creates a memorable event (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create a
specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies providing
the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the service profit
chain.
In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand how
to maintain employees and customers satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the owner. First
of all, every manager should comprehend the links in the service profit chain, for example, customer

Future Technological Impacts and Influences on News...
Future Technological Impacts and Influences on News Reporting and Presentation
Forms of technology have always had a significant influence on the way news is both reported and
presented; there is no reason to suppose this situation will change as new technologies develop and
mature in the future.
Examples from the past are legion, but a couple of particularly striking ones may serve to illustrate the
extreme impact changes in technology have upon what we regard as news .
The development of the printing press (in Europe in the mid Fifteenth Century) allowed for the first
time the widespread and low cost dissemination of written material. Reading was no longer the sole
preserve of educated elite; the ramifications of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps the images are a closer reflection of ourselves than are words on a page.
One further example of the past impact of technological change on news reporting and presentation,
likewise, is still very much present (or perhaps, dominant) today: live television broadcast from the
scene of news events. Developed from the 1960 s onwards, due to a number of converging
technologies, for example, smaller cameras, satellite communications, portable power, it is now a
given that any significant news event will have instantaneous live television coverage. Indeed, entire
networks (CNN, Sky News, BBC World) now exist based upon this foundation of live news.
But is this unending live news good news? Former political correspondent of The New York Times,
and editor for New York magazine and Esquire, Richard Reeves, believes ...today s high tech fusion of
cable television, electronic information services and pop culture, has removed the filtering process of
reporting, editing and writing that separates journalism from the raw act of communication. (as cited
in Martin, 1997). And Bob Jobbins, chairman of the UK s Rory Peck Trust (a journalist s charity) says:
The power of technology can lead to the homogenisation of content and originality is the hardest thing
to protect... (as cited on BBC News Web page, 2002).
Given these quite fundamental examples of how new developments in technology have

Techniques Louis de Bernières Uses to Portray the Effects...
What techniques does Louis de Bernières use to portray the effects of the war so powerfully?
Louis de Bernières uses many techniques to portray the effects of the war as powerfully as he does. He
uses techniques that vary from use of language, to using the diary of a homosexual soldier. In the in
between there are other techniques such as: contrast of the good and bad effects of the war; death,
from the inside and the outside; or showing feelings from soldiers instead of numbers and figures.
From my point of view, the use of language is the technique that sticks out the most. He uses all sorts
of words, meanings, effects and even languages! Just as he uses sarcasm everywhere: War is a
wonderful thing. In movies and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The power of the words, and the roughness of what they are telling makes the reader feel incredibly
impressed by the cruelty of war, and the courage of soldiers. The fact that the use of language is the
most effective technique is perfectly logical, as words are the ones in charge of putting the message
through, and thanks to these words and the way in which they were used, the reader gets a real,
touching and effective feeling of how the war was. Of course, using different languages instead of
translating names of places and people gave even more sense of reality and the reader felt more in
touch with the characters and with the story being narrated.
However, another technique Louis de Bernières used when writing
Captain Corelli´s Mandolin that really struck me, was the diary of a homosexual, Carlo Guercio. This
can be described as the human part of the war. It just talks about the feelings and experiences of a
soldier. What Carlo talks about is touching, moreover the way in which
Louise de Bernières puts himself into a homosexual soldier´s position is amazing. He uses
homosexual eyes to make us see the inside of a war in the most original way. Homosexuals are not
supposed to be very masculine, therefore it is not very common for homosexuals to recruit, but also
thanks to the fact that it is a homosexual narrating, we get a better sense of what the feelings

Lace Up Your Shoes Essay
Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50% of
Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If
your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them
from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way.
About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events and
races mostly 5K s. Six months into my new hobby, I decided I was a real runner and because I was a
real runner, I needed to subscribe to a real running magazine. It s a well known fact that every diehard
runner has to subscribe to a running magazine of some sort. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other. After reading this, it dawned on
me that most of us
were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings taught
us, but didn t necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don t worry. It only takes
a minor tweak to tie the right knot a Reef Knot. All shoelace knots start the same; laces crossed over
under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same direction that you
crossed the laces, you will end up with a Granny Knot. A Granny Knot has an unbalanced bow, e.g.,
the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it s perfectly inline with the shoe (see illustration
below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots, granny knotters are the
people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the people whose shoes come
untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third base heading for home plate
in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his shoes in the middle of the race.
Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming untied. This works until its time
to untie the knot, and we all know how hard it can be to untie a double knot, especially with cold
hands.

The Constitutional Convention Of The United States Essay
After the colonies had seceded from Britain they realized that the lack of a strong central government
created a United States that was not so united . As described in a Brilliant Solution, by Carol Berkin,
the problems derived from the Articles of Confederation required a resolution that no one would have
ever imaged. That solution would be the Constitutional Convention, taking place from May to
September of 1787 in Philadelphia. This convention would result in our Constitution, the living,
breathing, vital document we still use to this day.
Throughout its early years, America didn t have many rules that it was governed by. Henry Knox once
declared, Our present federal government is a name, a shadow, without power, or effect. Under the
rules of the Articles of Confederation, the government could declare war, conduct foreign affairs, and
make treaties; however, the states held the majority of power and were treated like countries. With that
in mind, bills couldn t be passed because, with no executive or judicial branch, congress couldn t levy
taxes and required the consent of the states to pass the aforementioned bills. Since the government was
weak, it was easy for the British to overpower them. Eventually, people realized how wrong the
Articles were, and each state sent their own delegates to a convention that was soon to begin in
Philadelphia in order to fix its problems. The 55 men invited to the Convention were not gods, but
they were far from ordinary; most of the

Small group communication refers to interactions among more than two people who share some kind
of relationship, communicate in an interdependent fashion, and collaborate toward some shared
purpose (O Hair Wiemann, 2011). According to O Hair and Wiemann (2011) you share an identity
with the other members and have feelings about them (for better or worse); you likely have common
goals, and you are interdependent, you rely on them, and they on you, for love, friendship, or
professional growth. We often seek and join groups because we need a service or access to
information. We may also be drawn to a group because we admire the group or its members. The

The LAPD Incident Analysis
Cronkhite discussed the King incident in depth and how the failures of the Loa Angeles Police
Department (LAPD) and its leaders to institutionalize some of the contextual themes led to the beating
of Rodney King (Cronkhite, 2013). This incident led to an independent investigation by what was
known as the Christopher Commission (Cronkhite, 2013). Cronkhite (2013) discussed some of the
issues found by the commission and how the failure to use some of the concepts contributed to the
incident.

Many of the same problems discussed by Cronkhite (2013) in the King incident were also found in the
Rampart scandal. Even after the King incident, administrators failed to investigate complaints and
wide spread corruption within the department (Knowland Nebbia, 2000). Prior to joining the CRASH

investigate complaints from citizens. Viewed from the organizational functions theme, the department
did little to investigate incidents of police brutality and questionable shootings and other uses of force.

The Power Of Choice In Brian Doyle s Joyas Voladoras
From hummingbirds nimbly flying over flowers to humming women quietly walking through the
park, Brian Doyle s essay, Joyas Voladoras, brings light to the power of choice in relation to human
experience and emotion. Doyle displays this power of choice through vivid descriptions of two
animals: a hummingbird and a blue whale, two seemingly different organisms. However, instead of
focusing on the obvious disparities of the animals, Doyle concentrates on what makes them similar,
the heart. Both the hummingbird and blue whale have hearts, but they use their hearts in drastically
different ways, one heart being the smallest and another being the largest in the world. Contrary to the
beliefs of science and evolution, Doyle believes that humans are not so different from these two
creatures, because, no living being is without interior liquid motion. We all churn inside (3). Suddenly,
the essay transforms from a National Geographic journal to a heartfelt message that connects all of the
human race. Doyle dives into how the heart experiences so many emotions and ideas throughout a
human life. Knowing that the heart is a delicate jewel, Doyle demonstrates that, all hearts finally are
bruised and scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character, yet
fragile and rickety forevermore (3). Doyle understands that many individuals try to defend their hearts
and protect them from any harm, but those hearts will eventually be hurt and injured in a

Such events where the two rights are pinned against each other, both seeking to sense a feeling of

Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton faced challenges in their respective research as a result of religious
and cultural beliefs of the time influencing their work, but there is another individual who faced
different issues that influenced their research. It is fairly well known that James Watson and Francis
Crick discovered the structure of DNA, but it is not as commonly known that an individual by the
name of Rosalind Franklin also played a key role in this research. Rosalind Franklin had been trying
to uncover the secrets of DNA during the same time as Watson and Crick and she actually quite close
to figuring it out. At the time she didn t quite realize what she had and if she did than it would have
most certainly been her who would have been credited with the research. It wasn t until Watson and
Crick were shown Franklin s research that they were able to pull ahead and fully figure out the
structure of DNA. It was said that while Rosalind s work was fundamental to the discovery, she had
not been consulted on its use , meaning that she did a large part of the work and someone else was
given the credit (Maddox). Showing them the progress made by Franklin was done without their
permission. Franklin contributed a large part to the research done on the structure of DNA and it wasn

amount of work she contributed in the research of DNA is not completely clear, but it may have been

The Congregation Of Charity Of The Incarnate Word

mind I decided to research the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Through
my research, I immersed myself in studying their website and became familiar with lovely order of
dedicated sisters who shared a heritage of much hardship intertwined in the good deeds they have

Christianity And Paganism In Beowulf
The ideas of Christianity and paganism are not usually ones that collide. Nonetheless, the epic poem
Beowulf has several references to them both. This can largely be explained by analyzing the people
and culture of the period. While the events of the poem take place in modern day Scandinavia, the
author and audience are assumed to be residents of England. It was written in approximately 700 A.D.,
during the Anglo Saxon period. By this time, the Anglo Saxons were already largely converted to
Christianity, but there were still echoes of paganism in their society and beliefs. This is presumed to be
one of the reasons why Beowulf incorporates this unlikely mix of religions. Although Christianity and
paganism are generally thought to have few similarities, Beowulf s unknown author utilizes Christian
symbolism, allusions to paganism, and interaction between the two to make Beowulf representative of
the period in which it was written.
The author of Beowulf is overwhelmingly assumed to be a Christian monk. As a result, the Christian
references in the poem are plain to see. The first of these references comes near the beginning of the
poem. In lines 6 10, the making of the earth is depicted: ...recalling/ The Almighty making the earth,
shaping/ These beautiful plains marked off by oceans,/ Then proudly setting the sun and moon/ To
glow across the land and light it... This description mirrors a loose adaptation of God s creation of the
world in the first chapter of Genesis, and is

The Efficient Market Hypothesis (Emh) Has Been Subject
The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) has been subject to professional and academic debate and
analysis for many years, and refers to the theory proposing that stock prices show all information
regarding a firm s value. An efficient market is a market in which investors with the same information
and similar investment goals compete actively (Sewell, 2012). Many private investors and investors
aiming to make profits are involved with the stock market and often make low risk investments while
aiming for high rates of return. However, the efficient market hypothesis states that it is impossible to
consistently outperform the stock market as the market is able to quickly adjust to new information.
The Efficient Market Hypothesis also addresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The semi strong form of market efficiency argues that an individual should not be in a position to
benefit by utilizing public information. (Potocki and Swist, 2012). Market analysts and financial
economists should have the ability to understand the financial information and how it affects the stock
market prices.
The Validity of the Semi Strong Form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis
Many researchers have tested the validity of the semi strong form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis
through testing major announcement event such as dividend announcements and bonus issue
announcements. (Khan and Ikram, 2010), This is because the announcements may offer desirable
factors to the market which will influence stock prices. Observing the performance of mutual funds
and brokerage companies is the second aspect for evaluating the semi strong form of market efficiency
(Khan and Ikram,2010). This is because brokers and fund managers are believed to have access to non
public information that gives them an advantage when trading on the stock market.
Review of Previously Conducted Studies
A previous study on the validity of the semi strong form demonstrated that the live log market
consistently fails to perform (Raymond Peter, 1979), and the results concluded that the live log market
was flawed

eighty percent of the budget of the Postal Service goes towards employee benefits and salaries, and a

Social Security Trust Vs. Privatization
Social Security Trust v. Privatization
Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend
seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and demographic
lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more to preserve and
even improve benefits. However, the trend towards privatization of Social Security is also on the rise.
What is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization because of fears that the Social Security
Trust Fund is living on borrowed time.

sensor and Raspberry Pi. The sensor periodically generate thermal map of heat emitted in its field of
view which is a one dimension array and pass the array to Raspberry for further processing. The
people counting algorithm is created in Raspberry Pi by processing thermal map generated by D6T.
After processing the number of people indoor is obtained. This chapter presents the hardware structure
used including D6T thermal sensor and Raspberry Pi, moreover the people counting algorithm is
discussed in detail.

The devices connected with I2C bus are either master nodes or slave nodes. The master node
generates the clock and initiates communication with slaves while the slave node receives clock signal
and give a response to the master when its address is requested. It is necessary to stress that I2C bus is
a multi master bus which means any number of master nodes can be attached. Usually a bus device
operates in one or two modes of four modes operation which are master transmit, master receive, slave
transmit and slave receive. Initially the master starts master transmit mode by sending a start bit
followed by the address of the slave it wished to communicate with, after this a command would be
sent and tells the slave whether it would write or read from the slave. If the slave exists on the bus and
it will shake hands with master by sending an ACK bit (active low for acknowledged).

Sir Isaac Newton, born on the 25th of December 1642 in...
Sir Isaac Newton, born on the 25th of December 1642 in Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth, Lincolnshire,
England, and passing away on the 20th of March 1727, is regarded as one of, if not the most
influential Mathematician and Physicist of all time and he was a huge figure that took a great part in
the scientific revolution. Sir Newton was born 3 months after his father (a profitable farmer), also
named Isaac Newton passed away, followed by his Mother re marrying when he was 3 years old to a
stepfather that Sir Newton grossly disliked, so much that in his list of sins up to the age of 19 he

As Sir Newton became more recognised for his advanced working, his Lucasian professor Isaac
Barrow became impressed with Sir Newton and Sir Newton eventually succeeded Barrow as the

By this time he was reaching his middle ages and Sir Newton s work was said to distinctly advance
every branch of mathematics then studied . He worked more on the binomial theorem, harmonic series
by logarithms, his identities and methods, optics, cubics and finally mechanics and gravitation which
have a strong relation to projectiles and ballistics. Two of the main workings of Sir Newton which also
relate strongly to projectiles and ballistics is the famous one named Newton s Apple which is
fundamental in all education in the world today and of which most of the world will recognise and
also his Law s of Motion which is largely similar to Newton s Apple where most people will recognise
what these laws are and who they came from. This demonstrates what a significant impact Newton
had on Mathematics and Physics in his time and how his workings have provided a solid base for
contemporary Mathematicians and Physicists to work on today.

Examples Of Insanity In The Black Cat
The Black Cat, a short horror story by Edgar Allen Poe, told in a first person perspective, follows the
narrator through his mental decline triggered by alcoholism. It narrates about how his degraded
rational state causes him to torture animals and kill his wife. Insanity, as demonstrated by the narrator
of The Black Cat, does not always manifest itself as permanent characteristics that consistently show.
Sometimes it shows as periods of irrationality and irritability, an inability to distinguish right from
wrong, or as mad fits of uncontrollable rage. Alcohol can prompt these outbursts of rage. Because of
the events and contemplations of the narrator, we as readers can conclude that he is definitely not sane
during these outbursts. The narrator is insane because he can t have power over his own actions and is
therefore not guilty of killing his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the Flapper is not the only image to remember this decade by. Looking at the teenage and middle aged
women of this time, conforming to what society wanted was not the top priority and a change in styles

In the book, Becoming Modern: Young Women and the Reconstruction of Womanhood in the 1920s,
author Birgitte Soland discusses the changes that historians saw with women post World War I.
Quoting these historians, Soland writes:
Once women had been let out of the cage and permitted to demonstrate their talents and capabilities in
the labor market during wartime, the spell of female domesticity was broke, and it took a powerful
mixture of ideological campaigns and coercive political measures to restore the sexual division of
labor after 1918 (Soland, 2002).
Women stopped kneeling at the feet of their husbands and tending to the man s every need. They
began standing up for the rights they deserved. Although women did not become equal to men, they
did earn the right to vote and work in the 20s. The rise of hemlines and drop of the waistline may have
been a reflection of their push to become their own people. With all of this change, women began to
gain more self confidence, leading to a change in views on fashions. Looking at the amount that
clothing changed in the 1920s leads to an idea that women may have found power in the things they

Beyond Analysis Of The Book Beyond The River Chebar Essay
Beyond the River Chebar
Young Hoon (John) Kim
This book, Beyond the River Chebar, is a collection of articles that talks about the kingship and
eschatology in Ezekiel. Block wants to show the proper interpretation of the book of Ezekiel by
providing different views on the interpretation of certain passages and different theological views.
Moreover, Block provides history and other aspects for the better understanding of the book of
Ezekiel.
Daniel Block starts by introducing Zion theology. Zion theology is the Israelites religious attitude
toward Jerusalem. Scholars recognize some Israelites thoughts regarding to the Zion Theology. First,
since worshipping of Yahweh at the national temple in Jerusalem, the Israelites thought that the deity s
enthronement is a central feature. Second, since the Location of the temple is on the peak of Zaphon,
they assume that Zion is the center of the universe. Last, The election of Zion by YHWH is closely
tied to the election of David. From Zion Yahweh s reign of peace and justice extends to the entire
world.
Additionally, Yahweh s kingship, which is the one of the core aspects of the Zion Theology, has poor
evidences in Ezekiel s ministry. The word malak has been used to refer to Yahweh once (Ezek. 20:33).
However, the context does not provide any element that has to do with the enthronement of Yahweh.
In second chapter, the author deals with the royal ideology in Ezekiel. Block briefly talks about the
history of Israel s monarchy

Theory Of Planned Behavior (TPB)
Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB)
The theory of Planned Behavior built further on the theory of Reasoned Action by Martin Fishben and
Icek Ajzen in 1985. The theory of Reasoned Action needed to be developing because it did not
account specific behaviors, which people has little control or no control over it. Thereon, Ajzen (1998)
added the perceived control notion, which is similar to the self efficacy concept of Social Cognitive
Theory of Bandura (1977). Now, this theory takes to account for factors outside of a person s full
control by perceived behavioral control. Theory of Planned Behavior proves useful for detailing the
psychological processes underlying a wide range of health behavior (Conner and Sparks, 1996; Godin

Intention is influenced by attention, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control (Ajzen, 2006).
Most of the studies have found attitudes to be more important than subjective norms in predicting
intentions, confirming the weak support for the role of subjective norms as compared to attitudes in
predicting intentions (Ajzen, 1991). Attitude is defined as a cognitive process influenced by personal
experiences and is expressed by either behavioral or emotional responses (Fishbein Ajzen, 2010). The
stronger the attitude is toward quitting the better the predictor of one s intention to quit smoking
(Fazio, 2001). According to TPB, the attitude relates both positive and negative beliefs about the
behavior. To addressing the importance of attitude, this leaflet aims to developed positive belief on

Kerouac was a devoted student of the Buddhist way and would often impress his peers with his
knowledge of the Sutras and other Buddhist texts and ideas. This is particularly interesting when it is
considered that these peers were other students of Buddhism such as Gary Snyder or even Philip
Whalen, who is an ordained Zen monk. In fact, Kerouac was so immersed in Buddhist thought that in
1956 he completed the manuscript to what would become a 420 page book titled Some Of The
Dharma, which was a collection of notes and thoughts on various ideas taken from the Sutras.
Included also were numerous poems and prose poems, which were attempts to transliterate the ancient
wisdom of Buddhism into a modern context, applicable to the western intellectual and spiritual
journeyman. Some of the Dharma was to be a study guide for the beginning practice of Kerouac
amp;#8217;s good friend and companion Allen Ginsberg.
While Kerouac was writing what was perhaps his best and certainly one of his most spiritually driven
novels, Desolation Angels, he was also writing a poem to accompany the novel which was titled
Desolation Blues. Although written after Kerouac was no longer up on Desolation Peak serving as a
fire lookout in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, it was a reflection upon the many contemplations
provoked by the solitude and serenity of the time he spent alone atop the mountain. From the opening
line he has recognized an inherently Buddhist view of the world

How Does Lewis Use Temptation In The Screwtape Letter
In The Screwtape Letters by C.S.Lewis, the novel is from the perspective of Screwtape, who is writing
letters to his nephew. Screwtape shows clever subtlety in tempting patients to self centeredness in
prayers through feelings and images, to gluttony through delicacy, and to pride through membership in
an elite Christian social circle. Screwtape uses many, seemingly good, things to manipulate his
patients. Lewis uses this as an illustration of how easily humans can fall into temptation. Screwtape
uses pride, and intellect as a form of temptation throughout the novel, even while the patient is a
Christian. In the beginning, the patient is a hard intellect, which turns him off of Christianity, as it is
illogical. However, the patient is eventually converted to faith, yet even then, he is overcome by pride.
He is prideful to his intellectual friends, as he is more virtuous than them. Yet, he is also prideful to his
Christian friends, since he is obviously the intellectual superior, and has a better grasp on reality.
Screwtape suggest using this as a way to pull him away. With this pride, he will never truly be a part
of the Christian group, and will always be detached from his faith. Lewis uses this as an example of
how pride can corrupt even the purest intentions. The patient lets his intellect ... Show more content on

Socialization Of Masculinity
Masculinity is seen as a cultural constructions throughout history, by which males are assigned certain
social roles of their gender. Traditionally, the image of men is quite clear. Men have to be hard
working person, strong father, and disciplined. Historically, the role of man was to provide his wife
and family with sustenance. Therefore, masculinity has certain characteristics assigned by our culture.
Men are associated in an essential and optional way with the confidence certain aspects are completed
when deciding their masculinity and manliness. These aspects range from not crying when they are
harm. They can be aggressive and play violent games. The socialization of manhood in our general

Faint Hints Of Tranquility Analysis
The two short stories that I ve enjoyed the most have been Faint Hints of Tranquility by Shibli and the
excerpt from Midnight in Mexico by Corchado. Although these stories are fiction they come across as
intensely genuine. The sincerity in the tone of the authors brought me into the setting. Both authors
drew immensely from their own experiences, Corchado being a journalist documenting the cartels in

only thing getting her through checkpoints. It would seem that biographically speaking, both of these

Farley Mowats The Role Of Wolves In The Wild
About a century ago, a man by the name of Farley Mowat was sent to the frozen wilderness of Canada
to examine the actions of wolves and how their survival affects the plummeting of the caribou herds.
While studying a pack of seven, he acquired a deep feeling of admiration for this certain pack of
wolves. Almost halfway through the novel, Mowat gives each of the three adults a name that goes
along with their role in the family. While living near a pack of seven wolves, Mowat soon realizes that
they are not at fault for the decline in caribou society, as a matter of fact, they are doing quite the
opposite. There is something far more powerful than wolves harming the population. Human kind
itself is destroying the community of our nature. I kept coming up with the fantastic figure of 112,000
animals killed by trappers in this area every year (Page 86). With all the hunters and trappers in
Keewatin, the population of most animals are immensely falling downward. Over the months, Mowat
observes the wolves during their play time, how they hunt along with feeding the growing pups, and
how they survive. After all, wolves are not what they are said to be. After realizing that wolves are not
the problem, Mowat notices that wolves are actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, as he carries on with his examination, Mowat deflates most of the false accusations brought upon
wolves. Everyone has always assumed that wolves are dangerous and savage killers. But, Mowat s
findings did not fulfill the requirements of the information that the government wanted. Never Cry
Wolf is a novel that identifies the true behavior of wolves and how humans misunderstand their being.
At one point in the story, some trappers kill over twenty three caribou and deer just trying to frame the
wolves for the decrease in the caribou community. After all, wolves have always been thought of as
dangerous predators; this theory has been believed for hundreds of

Target Market Profile of the Cocktail Mixer
Positioning Strategy Since this is a new product entering in the market, we will be depositioning
competing cocktail mixers. The question that we will be answering is what the product differentiation
is relative to the competition. The reason that our cocktail mixer will be differentiated from all others
is that everything the person needs will be put together in one kit, including premeasured mix packets
(better than refrigerated mixes because this can be taken on the go, like a juice box) and a battery
operated operated shaker with a detailed instruction book and 1 gigabyte flash drive with hundreds of
extra mix recipes. There will be 24/7 product support as well as online support with online chat. The
product difference will be everything is available in a fool proof kit. Basically, anyone can make Las
Vegas style drinks like a professional bartender. To keep prices down, a call center will be located in
Israel in the Jerusalem are where there a large population of Anglos who speak American English
without an accent. While not as cheap as Indian customer service support, but the costs are cheaper
than the U.S. and there are no accent or cultural problems. Indeed, there are a number of the
population who are from the British Isles. The British accent has been proven to calm American
anxieties and feel as though they are being lectured to by a person who knows it all. A smattering of
Irish and Scottish accents will make the drink calls interesting with a bar

Soma and its Effects Essay
Soma and its Effects Throughout India s long and colorful history, there have been a considerable
variety of groups who have left their mark on the land and its people. One of the most influential,
however, were the Aryans. In fact, some of the Aryan customs still remain in modern day India, such
as cattle demanding great respect, which stems from the Aryan tradition of using such animals as
currency (Chamberlain). The Aryans were mainly pastoral, relying on agriculture to survive (Bentley
and Ziegler 94). They did not have any sort of writing system; instead, what is known about them is
rooted in oral traditions.. This raises the question of religion. The Aryans believed in various gods and,
accordingly, had songs, praises, hymns, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(The Rig Veda).
This demonstrates the helpful benefits of Soma. According to this passage, among others contained in
the Rig Veda, Soma gives its users feelings of great freedom and a general sense of expansiveness.
After ingesting the drug, the user is also said to know no limits (Rig 238). This can help promote a
healthy mindset as it relieves feelings of stress. Additionally, even gods are depicted in the Rig Veda
as having been helped by the effects of Soma. One of the traditional stories about Soma concerns
Indra, the Aryan war god and military hero...who ravaged citadels, smashed dams, and destroyed
forts... (Bentley and Ziegler 94). One significant feat, however, deals with Indra s defeat of a dragon
who lived in the sky and hoarded water in the clouds (Bentley and Ziegler 87). Prior to the defeat,
Indra satisfies his thirst by ingesting copious amounts of Soma. According to the story, after doing
this, Indra goes into battle with the dragon and defeats it by throwing thunderbolts at it. The dragon,
then, releases its storage of rain, which fill seven rivers that flow through northern India and [bring]
life giving waters to the inhabitants of the region (Bentley and Ziegler 87). As a pastoral people, the
Aryans most likely tell this oral story to

  • 2. Positive Role Model Title Imagine living in a world without role models. Creation would be an immense chaotic mess with the population acting like heathens. Similar to a flower that does not receive enough nourishments gradually perishing, without positive role models feeding our youth, creation would inhabit senselessness and eventually terminate. Today, in the society we live in, people are more concerned on the public status, or simply the exterior appearance, of a person rather than the example they are setting. Leading to the question, what is a positive role model? Well, this can be very complex in explaining, everyone s ideal role model can vary from one and another. Instead of viewing healthcare as an expense, this system will cause Americans to think of healthcare as an investment and evaluate services and costs based on the return on investment. If this system is utilized, management will be forced to pay attention to refining the quality of care delivered to patients along with the timeliness and manner, which will lead to better clinical, quality of life, and economic outcomes (Watanabe et al, 2004). In order to try to implement this sort of reimbursement system, the system would need to reward specific behaviors that providers and patient s display. It would also need to reward behaviors it wants to encourage such as preventative medicine. This system would reimburse providers based on the level of commitment they offer towards the health of individuals and the community. Germany Germany was the first country in the world to legislate health insurance as compulsory for all. The nation has a contribution based social insurance model (Doring amp; Paul, 2010). • 4. Tfr Case Study This paper explores the events that contributed to the ambush of Task Force Ranger (TFR) and their Pyrrhic victory over the Somali National Alliance (SNA) from 3 4 October 1993. The majority of military and political historians concur that the Battle of Mogadishu hastened the departure of a tenuous US military presence in Somalia. TF Ranger was successful in accomplishing their objective of capturing six key lieutenants of Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid, but failed in the ensuing extraction due to a complex ambush perpetrated by the SNA militia. This paper aims to illuminate the intelligence failures and how these factors effected the events of the battle. A comprehensive summary of the battle will lead to an analysis of the key actions and decisions, building to a possible outcome. • 5. Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy Introduction There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service based economy to an experience based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued experience. The service profit chain which links the employees , customers and owners satisfaction stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every place, they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic. According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, an experience occurs when a company intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way that creates a memorable event (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create a specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies providing the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the service profit chain. In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand how to maintain employees and customers satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the owner. First of all, every manager should comprehend the links in the service profit chain, for example, customer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Future Technological Impacts and Influences on News Reporting and Presentation Forms of technology have always had a significant influence on the way news is both reported and presented; there is no reason to suppose this situation will change as new technologies develop and mature in the future. Examples from the past are legion, but a couple of particularly striking ones may serve to illustrate the extreme impact changes in technology have upon what we regard as news . The development of the printing press (in Europe in the mid Fifteenth Century) allowed for the first time the widespread and low cost dissemination of written material. Perhaps the images are a closer reflection of ourselves than are words on a page. One further example of the past impact of technological change on news reporting and presentation, likewise, is still very much present (or perhaps, dominant) today: live television broadcast from the scene of news events. Developed from the 1960 s onwards, due to a number of converging technologies, for example, smaller cameras, satellite communications, portable power, it is now a given that any significant news event will have instantaneous live television coverage. Indeed, entire networks (CNN, Sky News, BBC World) now exist based upon this foundation of live news. But is this unending live news good news? Louis de Bernières uses many techniques to portray the effects of the war as powerfully as he does. He uses techniques that vary from use of language, to using the diary of a homosexual soldier. In the in between there are other techniques such as: contrast of the good and bad effects of the war; death, from the inside and the outside; or showing feelings from soldiers instead of numbers and figures. From my point of view, the use of language is the technique that sticks out the most. He uses all sorts of words, meanings, effects and even languages! The power of the words, and the roughness of what they are telling makes the reader feel incredibly impressed by the cruelty of war, and the courage of soldiers. The fact that the use of language is the most effective technique is perfectly logical, as words are the ones in charge of putting the message through, and thanks to these words and the way in which they were used, the reader gets a real, touching and effective feeling of how the war was. Of course, using different languages instead of translating names of places and people gave even more sense of reality and the reader felt more in touch with the characters and with the story being narrated. However, another technique Louis de Bernières used when writing Captain Corelli´s Mandolin that really struck me, was the diary of a homosexual, Carlo Guercio. This can be described as the human part of the war. It just talks about the feelings and experiences of a soldier. What Carlo talks about is touching, moreover the way in which Louise de Bernières puts himself into a homosexual soldier´s position is amazing. He uses homosexual eyes to make us see the inside of a war in the most original way. Homosexuals are not supposed to be very masculine, therefore it is not very common for homosexuals to recruit, but also thanks to the fact that it is a homosexual narrating, we get a better sense of what the feelings ... All shoelace knots start the same; laces crossed over under, and then finish with a bow. • 10. The Constitutional Convention Of The United States Essay After the colonies had seceded from Britain they realized that the lack of a strong central government created a United States that was not so united . As described in a Brilliant Solution, by Carol Berkin, the problems derived from the Articles of Confederation required a resolution that no one would have ever imaged. That solution would be the Constitutional Convention, taking place from May to September of 1787 in Philadelphia. This convention would result in our Constitution, the living, breathing, vital document we still use to this day. Throughout its early years, America didn t have many rules that it was governed by. Henry Knox once declared, Our present federal government is a name, a shadow, without power, or effect. Under the rules of the Articles of Confederation, the government could declare war, conduct foreign affairs, and make treaties; however, the states held the majority of power and were treated like countries. With that in mind, bills couldn t be passed because, with no executive or judicial branch, congress couldn t levy taxes and required the consent of the states to pass the aforementioned bills. Since the government was weak, it was easy for the British to overpower them. Eventually, people realized how wrong the Articles were, and each state sent their own delegates to a convention that was soon to begin in Philadelphia in order to fix its problems. • 13. The Power Of Choice In Brian Doyle s Joyas Voladoras From hummingbirds nimbly flying over flowers to humming women quietly walking through the park, Brian Doyle s essay, Joyas Voladoras, brings light to the power of choice in relation to human experience and emotion. Doyle displays this power of choice through vivid descriptions of two animals: a hummingbird and a blue whale, two seemingly different organisms. However, instead of focusing on the obvious disparities of the animals, Doyle concentrates on what makes them similar, the heart. Both the hummingbird and blue whale have hearts, but they use their hearts in drastically different ways, one heart being the smallest and another being the largest in the world. Contrary to the beliefs of science and evolution, Doyle believes that humans are not so different from these two creatures, because, no living being is without interior liquid motion. We all churn inside (3). Suddenly, the essay transforms from a National Geographic journal to a heartfelt message that connects all of the human race. Doyle dives into how the heart experiences so many emotions and ideas throughout a human life. Knowing that the heart is a delicate jewel, Doyle demonstrates that, all hearts finally are bruised and scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character, yet fragile and rickety forevermore (3). Doyle understands that many individuals try to defend their hearts and protect them from any harm, but those hearts will eventually be hurt and injured in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Christianity And Paganism In Beowulf The ideas of Christianity and paganism are not usually ones that collide. Nonetheless, the epic poem Beowulf has several references to them both. This can largely be explained by analyzing the people and culture of the period. While the events of the poem take place in modern day Scandinavia, the author and audience are assumed to be residents of England. It was written in approximately 700 A.D., during the Anglo Saxon period. By this time, the Anglo Saxons were already largely converted to Christianity, but there were still echoes of paganism in their society and beliefs. This is presumed to be one of the reasons why Beowulf incorporates this unlikely mix of religions. Although Christianity and paganism are generally thought to have few similarities, Beowulf s unknown author utilizes Christian symbolism, allusions to paganism, and interaction between the two to make Beowulf representative of the period in which it was written. The author of Beowulf is overwhelmingly assumed to be a Christian monk. As a result, the Christian references in the poem are plain to see. The first of these references comes near the beginning of the poem. In the book, Becoming Modern: Young Women and the Reconstruction of Womanhood in the 1920s, author Birgitte Soland discusses the changes that historians saw with women post World War I. Quoting these historians, Soland writes: Once women had been let out of the cage and permitted to demonstrate their talents and capabilities in the labor market during wartime, the spell of female domesticity was broke, and it took a powerful mixture of ideological campaigns and coercive political measures to restore the sexual division of labor after 1918 (Soland, 2002). Women stopped kneeling at the feet of their husbands and tending to the man s every need. They began standing up for the rights they deserved. Although women did not become equal to men, they did earn the right to vote and work in the 20s. The rise of hemlines and drop of the waistline may have been a reflection of their push to become their own people. Moreover, Block provides history and other aspects for the better understanding of the book of Ezekiel. Daniel Block starts by introducing Zion theology. Zion theology is the Israelites religious attitude toward Jerusalem. Scholars recognize some Israelites thoughts regarding to the Zion Theology. First, since worshipping of Yahweh at the national temple in Jerusalem, the Israelites thought that the deity s enthronement is a central feature. Second, since the Location of the temple is on the peak of Zaphon, they assume that Zion is the center of the universe. Last, The election of Zion by YHWH is closely tied to the election of David. From Zion Yahweh s reign of peace and justice extends to the entire world. Additionally, Yahweh s kingship, which is the one of the core aspects of the Zion Theology, has poor evidences in Ezekiel s ministry. The word malak has been used to refer to Yahweh once (Ezek. 20:33). However, the context does not provide any element that has to do with the enthronement of Yahweh. • 42. Farley Mowats The Role Of Wolves In The Wild About a century ago, a man by the name of Farley Mowat was sent to the frozen wilderness of Canada to examine the actions of wolves and how their survival affects the plummeting of the caribou herds. While studying a pack of seven, he acquired a deep feeling of admiration for this certain pack of wolves. Almost halfway through the novel, Mowat gives each of the three adults a name that goes along with their role in the family. While living near a pack of seven wolves, Mowat soon realizes that they are not at fault for the decline in caribou society, as a matter of fact, they are doing quite the opposite.
