How Change The System Or Practice Will Achieve The Desired...
Y 1. Do I believe I have the personal capacity to figure out how to change the system or practice to
achieve the desired outcome? I have the capacity to figure out how to change the system, but the
barrier were the Cabinet not approving the change. Since this was new to them, they didn t understand

Social N 1. Am I willing to weaken longstanding personal and professional relationships and reduce

thing that I will say is that I am able to separate personal and business. I have had some heated

Sometimes I have been told that no one wants to see me angry, but I see that also as a cop out not to

Gregory Nav A Mexican Filmmaker Who Was Born Essay
Gregory Nava is a Mexican filmmaker who was born on April 10, 1949, in San Diego California. As a
former UCLA alumni, Nava has produced several racially and culturally charged films that often
break new grounds such as, El Norte, Mi Familia, and Bordertown. Thus, Nava dedicates his
filmmaking career to give his audience a distinct point of view which is the central thread of his films
and that which encompasses the Latino culture, experience, and their unjust treatment in America as
oppressed minorities; with the hope of counteracting false stereotypes, misconceptions, promoting
education, compassion, and acceptance of minorities. Nava does this by redefining the traditional
labels of who the insiders and outsiders of society are, he also puts Latinos in the position of subjects
through whose eyes the audience, experience plots, and who speak for themselves instead of being
perceived voyeuristically by characters from outside the Latino community, and by incorporating what
Nava describes as dream realism aspects to his films (Johnson, 2009).
Nava s $750,000 independent film, El Norte depicts the story of a Guatemalan brother and his sister s
harrowing odyssey to the United States that includes a memorable grueling crawl through a rat
infested tunnel and their struggles to adapt to their new life in Los Angeles (Johnson, 2009, p.1).
Forced with a grueling decision to stay in their native country and potentially be killed by the

Themes Of Rabbit-Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof fence Firstly, write down a few of your own thoughts about the film Rabbit Proof fence.
How did you react to the film? Did you enjoy it? Why or why not? The film was engaging and
thoroughly executed. The actors suited their roles, and played well. The theme in the film was
educational and intriguing. Apart from some small flaws, the film was enjoyable. The circumstances
around the film, as poor oxygen in the classroom and darkness, made it a little tiresome to watch, and
therefore, the film seemed stretched out. In reflection, that impression was misplaced. Discuss your
views with other class members. What do you think are the film s key themes and issues? The key
themes and issues can be a criticism of the Australian society s actions against Aboriginals. It can be
about prejudice, simplistic generalization, racism, race supremacy and assimilation. For the most part,
the film s theme and key issues circles around how the Lost Generation of Aboriginal children were
treated through the film, how they were neglected, threatened, spoken of and forced into the
Australian society as servants and maids. Write two different descriptions: one in a few short words or

about the Australians side. Together with Molly, Daisy and Gracie, the audience travels around in the
Australian nature; experiencing storms, hunger and dessert. Through a tale of experiencing lightning

Ella Fitzgerald Biography Essay
Biography Dubbed The First Lady of Song, Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in
the United States for more than half a century. In her lifetime, she won 13 Grammy awards and sold
over 40 million albums. Her voice was flexible, wide ranging, accurate and ageless. She could sing
sultry ballads, sweet jazz and imitate every instrument in an orchestra. She worked with all the jazz
greats, from Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Nat King Cole, to Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and
Benny Goodman. (Or rather, some might say all the jazz greats had the pleasure of working with Ella.)

diverse as her vocal range. They were rich and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After staying with Joe for a short time, Tempie s sister Virginia took Ella home. Shortly afterward Joe
suffered a heart attack and died, and her little sister Frances joined them. Unable to adjust to the new
circumstances, Ella became increasingly unhappy and entered into a difficult period of her life. Her
grades dropped dramatically, and she frequently skipped school. After getting into trouble with the
police, she was taken into custody and sent to a reform school. Living there was even more
unbearable, as she suffered beatings at the hands of her caretakers. Eventually Ella escaped from the
reformatory. The 15 year old found herself broke and alone during the Great Depression, and strove to
endure. Never one to complain, Ella later reflected on her most difficult years with an appreciation for
how they helped her to mature. She used the memories from these times to help gather emotions for
performances, and felt she was more grateful for her success because she knew what it was like to
struggle in life. What s she going to do? In 1934 Ella s name was pulled in a weekly drawing at the
Apollo and she won the opportunity to compete in Amateur Night. Ella went to the theater that night
planning to dance, but when the frenzied Edwards Sisters closed the main show, Ella changed her

Hippocampus
Memory is both an essential, yet complex, psychological process that relies on numerous
neuroanatomical structures, including parts of the prefrontal cortex, cerebral cortex, temporal lobe,
amygdala, cerebellum, basal ganglia, and the hippocampus, just to name a few. However, almost all
areas of the human brain are connected to the systematic functioning of memory. According to Okano,
Hirano, Balaban (2000), differentiation between the process of memory and the process of learning is
important in order understanding the neurobiological aspects of memory, although both are very
closely connected. The researchers define memory as a behavioral modification resulting from innate
experiences, while the act of learning is more of a process for ... Show more content on

As part of the limbic system, the hippocampus is associated with the formation of new memories, as
well as the process of learning and regulation of emotions. One of the primary responsibilities that the
hippocampus is known for is its ability to turn short term memories into long term memories.
According to Kalat (2013), the hippocampus is also important to processing three types of memory,
including declarative memory (and episodic memory), spatial memory, and contextual memory. In
studying patients with hippocampal damage, research has shown that the hippocampus is in fact
important to learning to new facts, skills, and utilizing episodic memory (Kalat, 2013). Another
hypothesis regarding the importance of the hippocampus relates to the ability to learn context.
Essentially, it is hypothesized that being able to learn certain context relies on details that are
remembered via the hippocampus. Recollection of memories, particularly more recent ones, relies on
the hippocampus. However, Kalat (2013) also states that as time passes, memory becomes less
detailed, less dependent on the hippocampus, and more dependent on the cerebral cortex (p. 401).
Finally, spatial memory refers to the ability of the brain to record specific information about the layout
or closeness of stimuli within one s general environment. Researchers have been able to study the
effects of the hippocampus on spatial memory through tests using such techniques as the radial maze
or the Morris water maze. Their findings provide evidence of increased activity in the hippocampus
during focus in spatial memories, as well as response learning. It is suggested that it is involved in
associating together information usually originating from different cortical regions, for example, about
objects and their place in the spatial

Frida Kahlo Editing Techniques
The documentary Portrait of an Artist by Frida Kahlo is easily seen as an old film due to the simple
editing techniques. Despite this, the film still accurately portrays the artist s life in the famous Blue
House outside of Mexico City. She shared this home with her husband Diego Rivera, who was a
famous muralist and painter. Frida Kahlo s full name was Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón
de Rivera. She was born in Coyoacán, Mexico on July 6, 1907. She ended up changed her birth year to
1910 in order to associate herself more with being a product of the Mexican Revolution. Her father
was a Hungarian Jew who immigrated from Germany to Mexico. He married a Mexican woman of
both Native and Spanish descent. As a child Frida would go with her father on his photography

their divorce in 1939. Yet surprisingly they remarried the following year. Kahlo s life was riddled with
tragedy. When she was 7, Frida was diagnosed with polio which left her with a smaller and thinner

her pelvis to break and her spine in three places. She spent most of her life hospitalized and in bed.

AAV Gene Therapy
In a study titled AAV mediated factor IX gene transfer to skeletal muscle in patients with severe
hemophilia B, 8 patients were enrolled to further investigate the safety of intramuscular injection of
adeno associated viral vector. The study was also analyzed to determine the effectiveness and duration
of F.IX levels. Seven of the 8 patients were also previously infected with Hepatitis C. Hence, muscle
directed gene therapy reduced the potential of certain complications compared to liver directed gene
therapy. 4.1 Methods The patients were divided up into three groups depending on the amount of
injection sites with a limited dose of 1.5 x 1012 vector genomes (vg)/site. The vector was
administered into one or both of the vastus lateralis muscles located along the outside of the thigh. The
number of sites for three patients in the low dose cohort was 10 and 20. Three other patients in the
medium dose cohort were given 30 to 50 injections. Two patients in the high dose cohort were given a
total of 80 to 90 shots in the vastus lateralis muscles, deltoid, and the soleus. Bethesda assays were
performed on equal volumes of test plasma and normal pooled plasma, which determined the residual
F.IX activity after incubation. Additionally, Western blot was also performed to detect anti F.IX
antibodies. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Civilians Of Ancient Greece
World History C375 Task 2 Serra Bauman 000505328 Part A The civilians of Ancient Greece had to
be resourceful. Most civilizations had rivers to channel, irrigate, and predict. Ancient Greece is a
series of islands. This means that the people of Ancient Greece had to learn to live on the ocean. They
had to deal with being more vulnerable to land attacks as they were used to battling with ships. And
they also had to deal with huge ocean storms. These storms could destroy a new society with no
notice. (Acrobatic, 2014) There were good things about being a seafaring civilization. As the Ancient
Greeks migrated to the coast of the Mediterranean, and Black Seas, they were able to put all of their
energy into maritime trade, eventually making them dominant of the busiest waterway in the ancient
world. (Acrobatic, 2014) Persian people, or people of Arya , settled south of Iran in the plains of Pars.
These plains were very fertile. This fertility allowed the Persian s to grow and expand on sea and land.
(Acrobatic, 2014) Part B In Greece, a democratic society was created. This society thought highly of
citizen participation, and the unending search of the ultimate philosophical truths. Being responsible
as a group was far more important than individual rights, or freedom. This created an open society that
was free to open expression and questioning authority. (Acrobatic, 2014) The love of wisdom , or
study of philosophy was possible in the open society of Greece.

Moving To A Small Town Research Paper
For me the move to Charlotte was a big improvement from my hometown. Yes the move does have its
downside but when comparing the overall positives to the negatives, the good outweighs the bad.
Coming from me that is major because when my mother first told me and my sister that we were
moving I was not the happiest camper. The thought of moving from the country side to the city, did
not excite me at all.
My home town is none other than small town Greenwood located in South Carolina. Greenwood is a
very small town population 69,520. A town so small that everyone seemed to know everyone, this was
my least favorite thing about living there. But the peace and quiet and green scenery outweighed it.

Living the country side allowed you have your own personal space, not having another family that
lived so close to you that you felt they were in your own yard. There was so much land around my
home I could enjoy things like having a full court to shoot hoops on, enjoy things like riding go carts,
four wheelers, and dirt bikes. Not only did I enjoy have all that space, but so did my dog Snoopy, he
was able to roam freely and mark his territory where ever he pleased. Not only did I have the comfort

History in the 80s
Describe entertainment and music from the 80s: The 80s had a very distinct personality to its pop
culture phenomena. It was in the 80s that we saw the first mass explosion of hysteria for new toys,
with the 1983 winter shortage of Cabbage Patch Dolls. One of the biggest pop culture crazes of its
times, the individually named and crafted Cabbage Patch Dolls join the ranks of the dolls of each
decade, reflecting the eternal power of the doll. Trivial Pursuit, a response to a few decades of mass

Many of the musicians during the 1980s have maintained staying power and are still popular today.
Other artists enjoyed a modicum of success during the decade and they are not even widely
recognized today, save for the television programs that strive to reunite the bands and give exposure to
artists of the time. Following is some descriptions and explanations of the bands and interests that
helped to change the face of music in the 80s. MTV, or Music Television, may have been the single
most influential entity in music industry during the 1980s . Premiering in 1981, MTV gave bands and
artists greater exposure for their music in a greater and more widely popular medium. The first video
ever played on MTV was aptly titled Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles. Duran Duran is one
of the more popular 80s bands that enjoyed the exposure that MTV gave them, too. Many experts have
said that MTV is what made Duran Duran one of the most popular bands to come out of the 1980s era.
New Wave and Synthpop was another genre of music that came about during this era. This form held
on to many of the attributes of the popular Punk Rock genre coming out of the 1970s, but it had
different characteristics. While the Punk Rock of the 1970s was a retaliation against the government
and the establishment, the New Wave and Synthpop forms were meant to be anti corporation in a more

Analyzing Old Spice Advertisements these days use many different techniques in order to sell a

Old Spice commercials are well known for using the famous Isaiah Mustafa, wrapped in just a towel,
to talk about the company s product. While Mustafa walks and talks, the background and setting of the
commercial changes and the actor never loses eye contact. The product is always shown throughout
the entire commercial. By combining all the elements of gender stereotyping, sexual imagery, and

The sexual appeal in the Old Spice commercials is very evident. Throughout the entire ad, the central
character does not have any clothing on except for a towel. Also, the undying eye contact, never
ending perfect posture and the same central location of the bathroom also has an equal sexual appeal.
Isaiah Mustafa is very buff, tall, and has the ultimate sexy voice. His eyes, stance, lack of clothing and
voice draw you in like a moth to a light. The overall appeal to the character is unquestionable, you
cannot help but stare. If you cannot help but pay attention to a commercial, then you will also pay
attention to the product being addressed (citation 2). In this way, the company is able to grab your
attention and keep it long enough to get their product out there.
The racial innuendo in the Old Spice commercial is probably the least evident technique used to draw
potential customers in. There is no denying that the main character is African American. Without the
use of this particular actor and his race, the commercial just would not be the same. Usually in any
voice over or previously recorded advertisement, there is a black man speaking. They know how to
enunciate the right words and have the voice to go along with it (citation 1). This might be a racial
stereotype but it works for this particular commercial really well. His voice draws you in, captivates
you and makes you want to listen. Plus, with his dark skin, his eyes pop out even

Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson demonstrated unimaginable leadership skills in an
effort to accomplish their respective agendas. Through the use of moral leadership, King would rise to
become the head of the Civil Rights Movement by means of civil disobedience and nonviolent
resistance. MLK began as a Baptist Minister, but after seeing the difference he could make in the
world, decided to stand up for what he felt was right. Johnson, on the other hand, used political
leadership in order to make a name for himself as President of the United States. LBJ was willing to
do whatever it took to accomplish his goals, even if it meant going against the Southern Democrats
who had elected him to political office. One of these risks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Niebuhr believed that the world was full of evils and oppressions that individuals needed to fight
against. People should not stand back and allow the horrors around them to continue, but instead fight
back in whatever way they can. MLK would take these teachings and apply them to his ideas of
Gandhi s nonviolent protests. Individuals who are in the minority, and thus unable to take drastic
action, would benefit from the use of nonviolence. This strategy would allow Black Americans to seek
justice and equality without truly disturbing the current relationship with White Americans. King s
plan was to allow his religious and political ideals to run on the same moral edge, something that
Reinhold Niebuhr had surely allowed for in his ideology (Branch, 81 7). Martin Luther King, Jr. was
able to use this religious and moral idea of nonviolence to unite Black Americans who were tired of
their oppression. Violence and drastic action had proven to arguably make their situation worse,
meaning that something as different as peaceful civil disobedience could prove to work. By the time
of the 1963 I Have a Dream speech at the March on Washington, King had become the voice of the
various perspectives of life as a Black American. He now expressed the universal voice of all his
people, and he was not afraid to use it in the pursuit of equality for Blacks (Branch, 881 3). Martin

disgust. We all deal with these emotions at some point in our lives especially through any difficult
time or a life changing event. Another reason why I think Inside Out is a positive movie is because it
provides you with an idea of problem solving. At some point in our lives we go through a tough time
and end up with all mixed emotions. It s definitely good to know how to control, when you have
mixed emotions. If you don t know how to deal or control them that s when problems start to
accumulate because you say or do things you might not really feel or mean. The movie Inside Out
doesn t only entertain you but also makes you understand and see things differently by informing you
the top five emotions we all experience, providing you with some problem solving lessons, and letting
actual Psychologist review the movie to have accurate information. I think most people like to watch
positive movies which could give you positive ideas on how you can do better in life and how to deal

Satan Court Case
You sit in the bench of a courtroom. The purpose of the trial is not immediately clear, but one thing is
certain: the prosecutor is angry. He shouts, shakes his fist, and threatens both the judge and the
defense. Amid his tirade, the judge stands, points his finger at the attorney, and yells, Away with him!
Without hesitation the bailiff violently grabs the attorney and whisks him away. Before the door shuts
behind them, the entire audience stands and rejoices over the prosecutor s removal. Even the judge
begins to celebrate!
At this point, you wonder if the story you just read is true. It is certainly not something you would
read in the paper or find within the annals of history. But, when you study the Scriptures, you will see
that very story come to life. It is the story of Satan s conflict with God and His people. Before Christ s
death, Satan stood within the heavenly court and slanderously accused countless people before God
(Job 1:6). In this capacity he accused both Job and Joshua (Job 1:9 11; Zech. 3:1 3). And, like some
prosecuting attorneys, he used cunning and deceit to accomplish his mission. In fact, it is said that he
is the father of such things (Jn. 8:44). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the death of Christ, Satan s power over mankind was shattered (Heb. 2:14). His position in that
spiritual courtroom came to an end, and Satan was forcibly removed from it (Rev. 12:7 9). Now, Satan
uses his craftiness to deceive humanity so that it will carry out his will instead of God s. From time to
time, he is successful, but the Lord always turns the accuser s plans against him (Rev. 12:13 17). And,
in the end, Satan will suffer eternal punishment for what he has done (Rev.

Summary Of Hester Prynne
In this chapter, a crowd of bearded men and women are standing outside of the door to what is
probably the prison. The narrator, who is the man who found the documents in the custom house,
discusses the vision of the perfect world the Puritans who settled there and how they ironically built a
prison and a cemetery as the first buildings when they arrived in the new world. A beautiful rose bush
stands, out of place, by the prison door.
In this chapter, Hester Prynne, a young woman, emerges from a prison door while carrying a child.
Prynne is to be condemned for committing adultery and for giving birth to an illegitimate child. As she
makes her way to the platform, the women in the crowd makes criticizing comments about the
elaborate letter A stitched onto her chest. Prynne then remembers her earlier life about her childhood
and questions if her current situation is real.
In this chapter, Hester Prynne is on a scaffold and spots someone she recognizes in the crowd. The
man, who she recognizes, learns about Hester s crime (adultery) from a townsman. Hester is then
called to attention by John Wilson and is asked by Mr. Dimmesdale to name the father of her child.
Despite his pleads, she refuses to name the man and is led back to prison.
In this chapter, Hester meets her husband in the prison when he was called to provide medical service.
Hester at first refuses to drink the medicine he provided thinking its poison, but eventually drinks it
when he said that he would not seek

The Ethics Of Discourse Communities
Discourse communities are groups of people who share similar values, goals, and ways of
communication. Although it is more of a broad definition, to me discourse communities can be more
simplified. My definition: sharing the same experiences, individual passion, and journey as your
destined group. Even though high school is bygone, the Langston Hughes Volleyball Team is still
considered my discourse community. Not to be biased but we are the best. Performing rigorous
activities such as sports requirements, voting for captains, and being in the volleyball section of the
yearbook considers me as one with the team. Every sports team required members to have yearly
physicals, and either fundraise or pay for the team gear. With volleyball you are also required to
participate in summer conditioning. Failure to attend? Chances are you are not playing the fall season.
Summertime was considered two months of work and labor versus fun and games others experience.
Conditioning consist of brutal Abs work, leg tightening, and running multiple miles to whip us into
shape. After workouts, if you failed to burn from the inside out or collapse from exhaustion something
is wrong with you. Around school our rep was traveling up a steep hill composed of one hundred
eighty pounds of concrete and the length of more than half a football field. It was called The Bank . It
was our punishment, our enemy, and our worst nightmare. No matter if it was pouring, hailing, or
scorching hot, it always

The Positive And Negative Effects Of European Imperialism...
Throughout the history of Europeans imperialism in south Africa, native south Africans were
exploited, used as slaves and servers for the Europeans. The south African people were treated
unfairly for a long period of time. The south African couldn t have more patience about their situation,
so they started a war. They got their independence later after the war. This colonization that happened
had positive and negative effects on south Africa.
The first colony that colonized south Africa was the Dutch from Netherlands on June 20, 1652. Then
South Africa was colonized by other European countries because the Dutch were weak and their
power has decreased. These European countries were Portugal, Britain, and France. During the
colonization of south Africa, there were a lot of things that happened there. The European had brought
diseases to south Africa, which had killed a lot of south African people. More that the Europeans

Overcrowding In New York Public Schools
Overcrowding means students don t get the attention they need from their teachers. But that is most of
the time true. With less students the better because then we have plenty of space for having special
education. Nationwide, there are many schools bursting at the seams. In New York forest hills high
school many students have a second shift at 8:30 and a third shift at 10:30 because many students are

The building is a showcase for the New York public schools, restled in a very diversed middle class
community in Queens that has big houses. It s vast football and towering ceilings mask and
overcrowding situation that has some of the biggest class size in the city. New York, with it s one

right about class size.
In every teacher or parent survey the number one thing that most parents and teachers are worried
about is class size because most adults want their student or kid to have a small class size so then he or

Private And Privacy In The Medical Code Of Ethics
Exposing patient private and sensitive information can cause harm to the patient as well as his/her
relatives. This is the reason medical professionals are compelled by the law especially the HIPAA
privacy rule to ensure that patient personal information is kept private and confidential. Exposing
patient private and sensitive information is one of the unethical behaviors in the medical profession. In
medical profession, the code of ethics ensures that medical practitioners remain professional
(American Nurses Association 21). This ensures high quality service delivery as well as ensuring that
the patients are protected from any possible harm by the actions of the medics. Privacy is one of the
key issues in medical profession. The behavior of medical practitioners leaking patient information is
unethical and thus can harm the patient. Patient information has to be kept private and thus the medics
are compelled to ensure confidentially. However, there are various circumstance in which the
information can be shared. In medical profession, confidentially is paramount and thus patients ought
to be assured of their privacy. Some illnesses such as HIV/AIDS can make the patient traumatized and
thus such information has to remain confidential between the medical practitioner and the patient
(Kuo et al 25). The code of ethics on patient privacy and confidentiality have been supported by
Kantian ethics theory on individual morality. Any behavior leading to exposure of patient

here as some of the fastest growing consumer markets already had their imprints in this area. Finally
they decided to enter into South America market with some new designs than to the existing ones. In
the early phase, sales were very low, but once they recruit the right distributor and retailer, Sales could
be more aggressive in that area.
Product Development: Only producing millions of watches would not expand their business. This

A Midsummer Night s Dream Bottom Character Analysis
Bottom the Weaver s name portrays the idea of him being a common and simple man, that he could be
nothing but a commoner at all. His confusion and arrogance reveal a much simpler side of Bottom, the
side where he is really on the bottom of society. Even though he may seem unintelligent his misuse of
words suggests that he understands the need for higher intelligence to be on a level with the higher
class, which exposes the idea of his aspiration to be in the higher class. This aspiration to be in the
higher class and to be a great actor shows that in fact he isn t so simple. In A Midsummer Night s
Dream by William Shakespeare, this exemplifies the idea that the character is actually just a fellow
and fool; That this is all a wish that ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Bottom can be seen as the focus of comedy in the play, he also shows the seriousness of the
play by suggesting the relationship between the play s reality and imagination. While Bottom is
preparing for his role in Pyramus and Thisbe, the play exemplifies his understanding of society. The
understanding of society s ways shows how he understands that he must be great in order for Titania
to love her. His aspiration to be the best actor suggests how he wants to have a higher role in society.
Although this is a fantasy it shows his need to weave the two worlds together. Ironically his name is
bottom the weaver. Bottom s relates to the struggle of being on the bottom which suggests his
complete open mindedness of society. Bottom s openness to the world suggests his visit to the fairy
realm, which is another fantasy, shows that this comedy is just a story. Bottom s belief in the theater,
which is shown through his characters being too realistic to suggest his belief in the power of a story,
fantasy. This belief in the power of a fantasy suggests he understand that his dream to be in the higher
class will ultimately fail. His failing of becoming in the higher class suggests he is the most down to
earth character. Is it because his name suggests he is at the bottom, so he is down to earth. Bottom s

supports the ocean ecosystem, has severely decreased, causing the corals of the reef to become

The process review was commenced by management in September 2012. By January 2013 however it

Dbq Electoral College
The Electoral College is an excuse of the electoral process, proving itself to be undemocratic, false in
representation, and harmful to third parties. Therefore, the Electoral College should be abolished, and
the process should rely on the popular vote to have the leading judgement in the election procedure for
a new president. The Electoral College has proven that a candidate may not need to win the popular
vote of the people of the nation in order to win the presidential election. But first, beforehand, let me
introduce the system in which the Electoral Process is based upon. The Electoral Process is the
government s created system of indirect voting in order to elect the nation s president. The Electoral

In the case of a tie, the House of Representatives and Senate are conjoined to elect the President and
Vice President. In this case, each is given one vote, making California s whooping population of 39
billion equal to Wyoming s measly 350,000. This overrules the matter of equal representation and
gives the power to the House and Senate to dictate the outcome of the nation (Doc D).
To conclude, the Electoral College does not give power to the third parties. Because the House and
Senate pretty much revolve around the two party system, the representation given to third parties
makes it nearly impossible to win the outcome of the election. In the case of a given third party
winning over a state, maybe the party would affect the outcome of the candidate s runs. However,
seeing it as it has been established over time, the winning of an election by a third party is highly
unlikely.
The Electoral College is an excuse of the electoral process, proving itself to be undemocratic, false in
representation, and harmful to third parties. Although the Electoral College may keep the peace
between states and their representatives, the Electoral College makes it so that the winner of the
presidential election is not what the nation truly

Nt1310 Unit 1 Patient 1
DISCUSSION
For each of the seven patients, I have come up with the diagnosis and explanations for what the next
steps are for each patient. I used the module book for most of the explanations that help to explain
what the next steps are and what further tests they require.
Patient 1 has a negative diagnosis, as all the cells are lower than 33%. Their average nuclear to
cytoplasmic ratio was 13.32%, which is the lowest overall and is below 33%. This means patient 1 is
not required to have any further tests done. They will just need to come for screening tests every 3
years. Patient 1 s cells were all blue, which means only a haematoxylin stain, was used. The blue
indicates nuclei.

This means there are problems with the Pap smear, as it doesn t always recognise pre cancerous cells

The Causes Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal between the United States and France. The United States
acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million. In
1762 Spain had controlled Louisiana with a relatively free hand, however, in 1800 Spain signed the
Treaty of San Ildefonso while under pressure. Thomas Jefferson feared that American settlers might
lose access to the port of New Orleans. On April 18, 1802, he wrote a letter saying that There is on the
globe one single spot, the possessor of which is our national and habitual enemy. It is New Orleans...
Thomas Jefferson.
Napoleon decided to abandon his plans for an empire in the New World. The Purchase enclosed
portions of 14 states, and 2 Canadian Provinces. The Purchase involved all of what is now Nebraska,
Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and some of Minnesota. In inclusion, the Purchase
contained small parts of land that would someday become part of the Canadian provinces. In the
Purchase, the land covered around 23% of the area of the United States.
At the time of the movement, it faced clam resistance as being possibly unlawful. Jefferson decided to
gain Louisiana because he felt anxious about France and Spain having much more power over the
American trade access than he did. New Orleans was meaningful for transporting goods to and from
the United States. On October 27, 1795, American merchants had the right of deposit. They also used

How Did The Americans Take Taxes After The Revolutionary War
The American colonist and the British started out having a very civil relationship. They provided each

come up with new stricter rules. The British started to tax the colonist on different kinds of items,
which was not fair to the colonists. They were controlling the colonist with everything they did. The

Canadian Cattle Identification Program Essay
The Canadian Cattle Identification Program exists to track beef cattle from birth to slaughter. This way
cattle can be tracked through an approved radio frequency tag in the case of a serious outbreak of
disease. Having beef cattle that are trackable through ear tags ensures that beef will be of high quality,
and the number of beef cattle are regulated. The cattle identification program radio tags were
implanted due to an outbreak of mad cow disease in 2001, the radio tags operate as a way to track
back to a source of a disease outbreak; therefore, beef can ensured to be of high quality by managing
disease issues in beef cattle. The Canadian Cattle Identification Program for beef cattle was originally
implemented due to the mad cow crisis in 2001. These tags gave the industry a way to track diseases
back to their source. Even though the program began in 2001 it was not fully enforced with penalty for
not complying until July 2002 (1). Tags are to be applied to the calf/steer before leaving the ... Show

Each radio tag has a unique number, or barcode that corresponds to a steer s records over their
lifespan, which are kept in a database (2). Each time a steer has a procedure by the farmer, or a
veterinarian done it will be recorded into the database to maintain the history of that particle steer.
Having a database allows the inspection agency to obtain history if needed after the cow has been
slaughter, and if that steer is relocated in its life time then then it should be tagged before leaving its
original farm. The new farmer may need to retag cow for their farm because it may have lost its
previous tag in transit then the steer s history must be put back in the database up to date, if known, for
reference after slaughter. The identification number is passed on to the carcass after the animal is
slaughter, so the history can be obtained if needed once the meat is

The Great Transformation Of The Market Society
The market society has changed and transformed into a set of ideas only based on commodities. The
market society is a human invention that took place with the ideas of capitalism. The great
transformation started with the modern state. It is crucial to understand the great transformation
because prior, in the past, the market had little say on the society. Currently the market is what shapes
our society and culture. The role of the market has drastically and dramatically changed and is
something that controls people.
To understand the great transformation it is first important to understand the market society . For
Polanyi, the market society is when the society and social relations are imbedded into the economy.
For him a market economy has become a market society when all of land, labour, and capital are
commodified. This is the brief definition of what the market society is. An example, which comes to
mind right away, is that in the past everything was done by hand, and workers worked to finish a task
or job assigned. Once they completed what was given to them, then the workers would use it for their
own benefit. Their own benefit would be to either use what they produced and made or trade it for
what is needed in their daily. This is what work was. Now machineries took place and it transformed
everything. So whatever the society needs is produced in large amounts, and whatever is not sold, will
eventually be sold.
The market, economy and social structure use to be

Quinceanera Essay
A quinceañera is the celebration of a girls fifteenth birthday. It is a huge celebration in the spanish
culture. It is first step into womanhood, for a girl. It gives thanks to God thanks for his blessings, and
to present a young lady to the community. In the United States, this occasional celebration would be
called a sweet sixteen , even though it s not a fifteenth birthday. The way this was celebrated in
mexico is a little different than when hispanics celebrate it in the United States.
The Quinceanera tradition started many years ago when the Spanish conquerors brought the tradition
to Mexico and others say the tradition originated with the Aztecs. During the 1400s and early 1500s,
young girls were considered marriage ready at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The daughter will also have to find out what kind of dress she wants to dance, and be seen in. To liven
up the party, they will have to find a dj to play music. They ll need decorators and a referred bakery to
give a better visual appeal. Then, they will need a recorder/photographer to document the amazing
memories. Finally, they can start making and sending out invitations and start rehearsing, and get any
little finishing touches that needs to be done, such as a hairdresser.
At a traditional quince, the girl of honor will usually wear a ball gown, along with her Court of Honor
dressed in dresses and tuxedos. Also, during the reception she may receive a tiara (denotes a princess
before God and the world; a triumph over childhood and ability to face the challenges ahead), scepter
(symbolizes authority, and more importantly, responsibility for her life and taking adult roles in
society, that is now being given to the young woman), cross or medal (signifies faith in God, in
herself, and in her world), bible, or prayer book and rosary (Important resources to keep the word of
God in her life). These gifts would be given out by the Padrinos (also known as the godparents and/or
sponsors). The crowning of the tiara is traditionally done by the parents, along with the presenting of
the scepter. The parents will optionally present three roses to represent the stages of life, infancy,
childhood, and current age. The gifts are the distinctive,

G quadruplex structures formed in telomeres and proto oncogene represent a potentially useful target
for anticancer drugs. Stabilization of this arrangement may inhibit the further action of different
enzymes involved in cancer cell immortalization. In present work structure based drug design and
synthesis was carried out on series of meso substituted porphyrin analogues. The interaction of
porphyrin derivatives with G quadruplex DNA has been explored by virtual screening procedure.
Some of the potential binding agents were then synthesized and evaluated in vitro by MTT and PCR
stop assay. The study indicates that these compounds had strong G Quadruplex binding affinity with
very good inhibitoryactivity in MCF 7 and A549 cell lines.
Introduction:
DNA has been recognized not only for passive role in genetic information storage but also an active
role in biological processes. In 1953 Watson and Crick proposed a right handed double helix structure

ABSTRACT
Crime and corruption have become rampant today in our society and countless money is lost each year
due to white collar crime, fraud, and embezzlement.
This paper presents a technique of an ongoing work to combat white collar crime in telephone
transactions by identifying and verifying speakers using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). Results
are presented to show the potential of this technique.

Often after a long legal battle, the victims are left with a worthless judgement and no recovery.
One solution to avoid white collar crimes and shorten the lengthy time in locating and serving
perpetrators with a judgement is by the use of biometrics techniques for identifying and verifying
individuals. Biometrics are methods for recognizing a user based on his/her unique physiological
and/or behavioural characteristics. These characteristics include fingerprints, speech, face, retina, iris,
hand written signature, hand geometry, wrist veins, etc. Biometric systems are being commercially
developed for a number of financial and securit applications. Many people today have access to their
company s information systems by logging in from home. Also, internet services and telephone
banking are widely used by the corporate and private sectors. Therefore to protect one s resources or
information with a simple password is not reliable and secure in the world of today. The conventional
methods of using keys, access passwords and access cards are being easily overcome by people with
criminal intention.
Voice signals as a unique behavioral characteristics is proposed in this paper for speaker identification
and verification over short distance telephone lines using artificial neural networks. This will address
the white collar crimes over the telephone lines. Speaker identification [1] and verification [2] over

Chinese ethnicity, and signs only in English. There are many places within the small community such
as two Christian churches, five public schools (three of them being elementary schools), and many
doctor s offices, dentists, and a hospital. There are school buses to pick up and drop off the students.
The public transportation is very limited; we noted two buses that run in the area and the bus stops
were not in close proximity of each other. There was no pedestrian crossing for walkers and limitation
of food variety within the three shopping centers. Since the area is composed of Indian and Chinese

David Edelstein Reel Time Analysis
Okay, so the title is a bit of a misnomer as David Edelstein no longer maintains his online blog Reel
Time for the Slate. His CV includes stints as a critic for Boston Phoenix, The Village Voice, Rolling
Stone, Slate, (Aradillas, Reel Time with David Edelstein) and his current employment at New York
Magazine, writing for their online entertainment section, Vulture. With the surge in popularity of
superhero films in the past decade, and several more plotted for the future, it is becoming increasingly
more difficult to capture the audience s affection. The current fad in this genre of films is ensemble
flicks. This year alone saw the release of four ensemble superhero blockbusters. David Edelstein has
seen his share of superhero films, in a career spanning almost four decades. This year all of his
reviews on superhero films are unsurprisingly intertwined, comparing them to one another. With
Captain America: Civil War being the blockbuster to open the summer market (in the States anyways),
expectations were set at what Edelstein believes to be another average film in the money making
minded Marvel franchise. Trying to build on the (monetary) success that the Avengers films have
made, Edelstein criticises that the studio spent more money on the appearance of Iron Man and the
second tier heroes than an inventive plot. This is something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is something he brings up in both his reviews for Civil War and Apocalypse. In Civil War, the
main idea (which can be applied to all superhero films) is whether heroes should be held accountable
for their actions, namely the collateral damage caused, despite saving the world. Who are the real
villains in these stories? Edelstein is annoyed that these vigilante films never give us the answer to that
question or even acknowledge a grey area. By the end of these films, that idea is usually swept away
or becomes another

  • 3. Gregory Nav A Mexican Filmmaker Who Was Born Essay Gregory Nava is a Mexican filmmaker who was born on April 10, 1949, in San Diego California. As a former UCLA alumni, Nava has produced several racially and culturally charged films that often break new grounds such as, El Norte, Mi Familia, and Bordertown. Thus, Nava dedicates his filmmaking career to give his audience a distinct point of view which is the central thread of his films and that which encompasses the Latino culture, experience, and their unjust treatment in America as oppressed minorities; with the hope of counteracting false stereotypes, misconceptions, promoting education, compassion, and acceptance of minorities. Nava does this by redefining the traditional labels of who the insiders and outsiders of society are, he also puts Latinos in the position of subjects through whose eyes the audience, experience plots, and who speak for themselves instead of being perceived voyeuristically by characters from outside the Latino community, and by incorporating what Nava describes as dream realism aspects to his films (Johnson, 2009). Nava s $750,000 independent film, El Norte depicts the story of a Guatemalan brother and his sister s harrowing odyssey to the United States that includes a memorable grueling crawl through a rat infested tunnel and their struggles to adapt to their new life in Los Angeles (Johnson, 2009, p.1). After getting into trouble with the police, she was taken into custody and sent to a reform school. Living there was even more unbearable, as she suffered beatings at the hands of her caretakers. Eventually Ella escaped from the reformatory. The 15 year old found herself broke and alone during the Great Depression, and strove to endure. • 6. Hippocampus Memory is both an essential, yet complex, psychological process that relies on numerous neuroanatomical structures, including parts of the prefrontal cortex, cerebral cortex, temporal lobe, amygdala, cerebellum, basal ganglia, and the hippocampus, just to name a few. However, almost all areas of the human brain are connected to the systematic functioning of memory. According to Okano, Hirano, Balaban (2000), differentiation between the process of memory and the process of learning is important in order understanding the neurobiological aspects of memory, although both are very closely connected. The researchers define memory as a behavioral modification resulting from innate experiences, while the act of learning is more of a process for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As part of the limbic system, the hippocampus is associated with the formation of new memories, as well as the process of learning and regulation of emotions. One of the primary responsibilities that the hippocampus is known for is its ability to turn short term memories into long term memories. According to Kalat (2013), the hippocampus is also important to processing three types of memory, including declarative memory (and episodic memory), spatial memory, and contextual memory. In studying patients with hippocampal damage, research has shown that the hippocampus is in fact important to learning to new facts, skills, and utilizing episodic memory (Kalat, 2013). Another hypothesis regarding the importance of the hippocampus relates to the ability to learn context. Essentially, it is hypothesized that being able to learn certain context relies on details that are remembered via the hippocampus. Recollection of memories, particularly more recent ones, relies on the hippocampus. However, Kalat (2013) also states that as time passes, memory becomes less detailed, less dependent on the hippocampus, and more dependent on the cerebral cortex (p. 401). Finally, spatial memory refers to the ability of the brain to record specific information about the layout or closeness of stimuli within one s general environment. Researchers have been able to study the effects of the hippocampus on spatial memory through tests using such techniques as the radial maze or the Morris water maze. Their findings provide evidence of increased activity in the hippocampus during focus in spatial memories, as well as response learning. It is suggested that it is involved in associating together information usually originating from different cortical regions, for example, about objects and their place in the spatial ... If you cannot help but pay attention to a commercial, then you will also pay attention to the product being addressed (citation 2). In this way, the company is able to grab your attention and keep it long enough to get their product out there. The racial innuendo in the Old Spice commercial is probably the least evident technique used to draw potential customers in. There is no denying that the main character is African American. Without the use of this particular actor and his race, the commercial just would not be the same. Usually in any voice over or previously recorded advertisement, there is a black man speaking. They know how to enunciate the right words and have the voice to go along with it (citation 1). This might be a racial stereotype but it works for this particular commercial really well. Through the use of moral leadership, King would rise to become the head of the Civil Rights Movement by means of civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance. MLK began as a Baptist Minister, but after seeing the difference he could make in the world, decided to stand up for what he felt was right. Johnson, on the other hand, used political leadership in order to make a name for himself as President of the United States. People should not stand back and allow the horrors around them to continue, but instead fight back in whatever way they can. MLK would take these teachings and apply them to his ideas of Gandhi s nonviolent protests. Individuals who are in the minority, and thus unable to take drastic action, would benefit from the use of nonviolence. This strategy would allow Black Americans to seek justice and equality without truly disturbing the current relationship with White Americans. King s plan was to allow his religious and political ideals to run on the same moral edge, something that Reinhold Niebuhr had surely allowed for in his ideology (Branch, 81 7). Martin Luther King, Jr. was able to use this religious and moral idea of nonviolence to unite Black Americans who were tired of their oppression. Violence and drastic action had proven to arguably make their situation worse, meaning that something as different as peaceful civil disobedience could prove to work. By the time of the 1963 I Have a Dream speech at the March on Washington, King had become the voice of the various perspectives of life as a Black American. He now expressed the universal voice of all his people, and he was not afraid to use it in the pursuit of equality for Blacks (Branch, 881 3). He shouts, shakes his fist, and threatens both the judge and the defense. Amid his tirade, the judge stands, points his finger at the attorney, and yells, Away with him! Without hesitation the bailiff violently grabs the attorney and whisks him away. Before the door shuts behind them, the entire audience stands and rejoices over the prosecutor s removal. Even the judge begins to celebrate! At this point, you wonder if the story you just read is true. It is certainly not something you would read in the paper or find within the annals of history. But, when you study the Scriptures, you will see that very story come to life. It is the story of Satan s conflict with God and His people. Before Christ s death, Satan stood within the heavenly court and slanderously accused countless people before God (Job 1:6). In this capacity he accused both Job and Joshua (Job 1:9 11; Zech. 3:1 3). As she makes her way to the platform, the women in the crowd makes criticizing comments about the elaborate letter A stitched onto her chest. Napoleon decided to abandon his plans for an empire in the New World. The Purchase enclosed portions of 14 states, and 2 Canadian Provinces. The Purchase involved all of what is now Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and some of Minnesota. In inclusion, the Purchase contained small parts of land that would someday become part of the Canadian provinces. In the Purchase, the land covered around 23% of the area of the United States. At the time of the movement, it faced clam resistance as being possibly unlawful. Jefferson decided to gain Louisiana because he felt anxious about France and Spain having much more power over the American trade access than he did. New Orleans was meaningful for transporting goods to and from the United States. On October 27, 1795, American merchants had the right of deposit. They also used this right to to ship ... During the French and Indian war the colonists were on the British side and helped them fight. Unfortunately, after the war the British started to change their ways and started to come up with new stricter rules. The British started to tax the colonist on different kinds of items, which was not fair to the colonists. They were controlling the colonist with everything they did. The colonists wanted them to back off a little but the British weren t budging. Never did the British parliament, (until the passing of the Stamp act) think of imposing duties in America for the purpose of raising a revenue. • 39. Canadian Cattle Identification Program Essay The Canadian Cattle Identification Program exists to track beef cattle from birth to slaughter. This way cattle can be tracked through an approved radio frequency tag in the case of a serious outbreak of disease. Having beef cattle that are trackable through ear tags ensures that beef will be of high quality, and the number of beef cattle are regulated. The cattle identification program radio tags were implanted due to an outbreak of mad cow disease in 2001, the radio tags operate as a way to track back to a source of a disease outbreak; therefore, beef can ensured to be of high quality by managing disease issues in beef cattle. The Canadian Cattle Identification Program for beef cattle was originally implemented due to the mad cow crisis in 2001. These tags gave the industry a way to track diseases back to their source. Even though the program began in 2001 it was not fully enforced with penalty for not complying until July 2002 (1). Tags are to be applied to the calf/steer before leaving the ... Each time a steer has a procedure by the farmer, or a veterinarian done it will be recorded into the database to maintain the history of that particle steer. Having a database allows the inspection agency to obtain history if needed after the cow has been slaughter, and if that steer is relocated in its life time then then it should be tagged before leaving its original farm. The new farmer may need to retag cow for their farm because it may have lost its previous tag in transit then the steer s history must be put back in the database up to date, if known, for reference after slaughter. • 42. The Great Transformation Of The Market Society The market society has changed and transformed into a set of ideas only based on commodities. The market society is a human invention that took place with the ideas of capitalism. The great transformation started with the modern state. It is crucial to understand the great transformation because prior, in the past, the market had little say on the society. Currently the market is what shapes our society and culture. The role of the market has drastically and dramatically changed and is something that controls people. To understand the great transformation it is first important to understand the market society . For Polanyi, the market society is when the society and social relations are imbedded into the economy. For him a market economy has become a market society when all of land, labour, and capital are commodified. This is the brief definition of what the market society is. An example, which comes to mind right away, is that in the past everything was done by hand, and workers worked to finish a task or job assigned. Once they completed what was given to them, then the workers would use it for their own benefit. Their own benefit would be to either use what they produced and made or trade it for what is needed in their daily. This is what work was. Now machineries took place and it transformed everything. So whatever the society needs is produced in large amounts, and whatever is not sold, will eventually be sold. The market, economy and social structure use to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stabilization of this arrangement may inhibit the further action of different enzymes involved in cancer cell immortalization. In present work structure based drug design and synthesis was carried out on series of meso substituted porphyrin analogues. The interaction of porphyrin derivatives with G quadruplex DNA has been explored by virtual screening procedure. Some of the potential binding agents were then synthesized and evaluated in vitro by MTT and PCR stop assay. The study indicates that these compounds had strong G Quadruplex binding affinity with very good inhibitoryactivity in MCF 7 and A549 cell lines. Often after a long legal battle, the victims are left with a worthless judgement and no recovery. One solution to avoid white collar crimes and shorten the lengthy time in locating and serving perpetrators with a judgement is by the use of biometrics techniques for identifying and verifying individuals. Biometrics are methods for recognizing a user based on his/her unique physiological and/or behavioural characteristics. These characteristics include fingerprints, speech, face, retina, iris, hand written signature, hand geometry, wrist veins, etc. Biometric systems are being commercially developed for a number of financial and securit applications. Many people today have access to their company s information systems by logging in from home. Also, internet services and telephone banking are widely used by the corporate and private sectors. Therefore to protect one s resources or information with a simple password is not reliable and secure in the world of today. The conventional methods of using keys, access passwords and access cards are being easily overcome by people with criminal intention. David Edelstein has seen his share of superhero films, in a career spanning almost four decades. This year all of his reviews on superhero films are unsurprisingly intertwined, comparing them to one another. With Captain America: Civil War being the blockbuster to open the summer market (in the States anyways), expectations were set at what Edelstein believes to be another average film in the money making minded Marvel franchise.
