Art Movement Characteristics
 Post-Impressionism is an umbrella term that encompasses
a variety of artists who were influenced by Impressionism
but took their art in other directions.
 This art movement represented both an extension of
Impressionism and a rejection of that style's inherent
limitations with an aim in favor of more ambitious
expression.
 Post- Impressionism artwork is highly personal art created
by artists who mainly painted alone.
 There is no single well-defined style of Post-Impressionism,
but in general it is less idyllic and more emotionally
charged than Impressionist work.
