Post-Impressionism grew out of Impressionism and focused on light, color, composition, and design. Georges Seurat developed pointillism, applying tiny dots of pure color that blend in the eye of the viewer, such as in his painting A Sunday on La Grande Jatte. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec often depicted dancers and circus performers in paintings and posters that advertised their skills, making the Moulin Rouge famous. Vincent Van Gogh struggled with depression but created iconic works like The Starry Night despite selling only one painting during his lifetime.
