Aphorisms Of Minority Groups
First research paper United State is built upon immigrants and therefore; there are different type of
races, cultures and religions. Because of that, there are superior groups and minority groups in our
society. Our founding fathers came to America to find better lives but where did this founding
aphorism of our founding fathers go? Our society was corrupted, ruined and justice was not presented
for us all. NAACP, National organization for Women, and Southern Poverty Law Center are the
organizations that fight to achieve equal rights, justice and protection to all the minority groups in our
society. NAACP, Nation Association for the Advancement of Colored People, its mission is to ensure

This organization s pure goal is to fight the effects of poverty with new lawsuits and education
program. Southern Poverty Law Center s strategy is filing a lawsuit for damages on behalf of the
victims of the hate group harassments, threats and their violence. They represent the most of victims
of hate groups such as extremist organizations such as Ku Klux Klan also known as KKK. One of the
cases that resulted in legacy of Southern Poverty Law Center is that a case of YMCA in Montgomery.
In this case, what YMCA did was not accepting two black children because of their race violating the
Civil Rights Act of 1964. In the end, Judge Johnson ordered the YMCA to end its discriminatory
practices. By winning the case, it fired the civil rights movement in south. Giving hopes to southerners
that it is possible to change the society. Another law suit that was given credit to Southern Poverty
Law Center is that Persons vs. Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. This was happened in 1982, a
prison guard Bobby Person, and a black prison guard was harassed and threatened by Ku Klux Klan.
Even when the lawsuit was started, Ku Klux Klan did not stop the harassment and threats. During the
litigation, the court ordered prohibiting anyone from interfering. At the end of this lawsuit, in 1985,
court issued Ku Klux Klan from harassing, threatening and harming any black people or white people
who are associated with black. I didn t think this organization was associated with the KKK and
would actually win against from white superior court. Who would have ever thought that this group is
led by white male and that they were fighting against other whites to protect non whites? This group
was the most unexpected and surprised me the most during the research. I wonder how much
enthusiasm is needed to fight against the same races to protect the justice in our system. The action

Charlottetown Geography Essay
Climate: Prince Edward Island is located off the coast of the Eastern shore of Canada s mainland. As
one of the 4 Atlantic Maritime provinces, PEI, like all the other provinces located nearby, has a
moderated maritime climate that, when combined with the rich agricultural soils of the region, makes
it an ideal location for growing crops and raising livestock. The area s climate characteristics have and
continue to play an exceedingly important role in Charlottetown s success as PEI s capital city.
Looking from this climate graph of Charlottetown s 2010 climate, it is most prominent Charlottetown
s climate closely resembles that of a typical maritime The most prominent characteristic that I
observed from this climate graph is the drastic temperature change that occurs throughout the year.
From February, the temperature begins to increase, and it continues to do so at a constant, steady rate
until it reaches its peak of 17 to 18°C somewhere around July and August. From there, a steady pattern
of temperature decrease can be observed, until it hits its lowest point at which the year started from: 8
to 7°C. The total overall temperature change, looking from these approximations, seems to be 25°C.

the precipitation during the winter months is greater than the precipitation during the summer months,
the climate is maritime. Vice versa would indicate a continental climate. Winter months are October,

Book Review Of Ishmael Beah
Introduction The author of this book, Ishmael Beah was forced to become a child soldier at 12 years
old due to the civil war occurring in his home country of Sierra Leone which first began in 1991. After
Ishmael s home village of Mogbwemo was attacked by rebels he was separated from his family,
forcing him to flee. Without a home or a family to take care of him, Ishmael then spent months
wandering with a group of other boys who had been displaced by the war. While taking refuge in a
village protected by the government army, Ishmael was forced to fight for the government against the
rebels which ultimately ended up lasting for almost 3 years. In 1996, Ishmael was rescued by a
UNICEF coalition where he began his journey of rehabilitation for ... Show more content on

Life changed for Ishmael in January 1996, when UNICEF aid workers took him and other child
soldiers to a rehabilitation center in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. Although hesitant at first,
Ishmael eventually began to trust the workers and took a special liking to Esther, a nurse who played
an integral role in his rehabilitation. By September of 1996, Ishmael was rehabilitated and was
speaking in front of the UN where he discussed the effects of war on children and shared his story.
Returning to Sierra Leone, Ishmael stayed with his last living relative, uncle Tommy which is short
lived as the rebels invade Freetown and shortly after uncle Tommy dies after contacting a fever.
Fearing that if he stayed he would join the army, Ishmael fled to the neighbouring Guinea so he could
get a flight to the United States where he would stay with Laura Simms, a story teller he met while at
the UN and who would end up adopting him. Analysis There are two major structural conditions
which ultimately led to Ishmael becoming a child soldier which are the nature of war and poverty.
During times of war there is no escaping the violence and uncertainty that follows it. Ishmael is a
prime example of this as the nature of war heavily contributed to him becoming a child soldier. This is
first seen when Ishmael is attacked by villagers that feared he and his friends were rebel spies. The

Architecture, Belief Systems, And Societal Structure
Culture is a very important aspect of human life; it defines the way people live, grow, and evolve.
Anthropologists study cultures throughout the world and throughout different time periods. They
study the different aspects of culture including architecture, belief systems, and societal structure.
Egypt is a country ripe with history and rich culture, from their towering pyramids to their modern day
society. Intricately crafted obelisks and tombs decorate the landscape, but how much of that is being
preserved? The study and preservation of past culture can heavily influence and educate the present. It
is important to learn about the past in order to evolve and create a better future. While change can be
beneficial, it is important not to neglect ancient culture.
When a person thinks of Ancient Egypt, she might first picture the pyramids, the Sphinx, and even the
towering statues and obelisks. Architecture has been a defining point throughout Egypt s history.
Some structures, such as the temples of Karnak and Luxor built along the Nile River, were created to
honor the dead and worship the Egyptian gods (Temples, n.d.). Ancient Egypt was full of temples
which were built to house the Gods and separate them from the rest of the world. According to a
creation legend, the first temple was built on a large mound that had risen from the primeval sea
known as Nun. In one version of the legend, a lotus flower grew upon this mound and humans were
created soon after in an event known

Sir Ernest Shackleton´s Survival in the Antarctic Essay...
For an exemplary leader, what is one of the highest compliments that you could ever receive? Sir
Ernest Shackleton was a British explorer who after failing to reach the Southern Pole first wanted to
be the first to ever accomplish a trans Antarctic expedition. On October 27th, 1915 Shackleton s boat
the Endurance was crushed by the pressure of the melting Antarctic ice; leaving Shackleton and his
crew stranded in the Antarctic. On August 30th, 1916 after a treacherous one and a half years of living
in the Antarctic and surrounding islands, Shackleton and his crew were rescued following an
unimaginable story of survival. The qualities of leadership Shackleton exhibited that resulted in the

constantly on one s mind or routines must be followed correctly and/or on time. The benefit for the
Endurance s crew to have an obsessive man as Shackleton was that he was ready for the unexpected,
and his crew s safety was the utmost important topic for him. With Shackleton s obsessive nature, he
made a very specific routine for the men to follow; at exactly 9:00 am, breakfast was served, at 1:00
pm, lunch was served, at 4:00 pm, tea was served, and at 6:00 pm, dinner was served. Between the
meals, the men did chores such as, cleaning the ship and melting ice for drinking water. Such a precise
and stringent following of a routine gave the men purpose and managed to keep the men from going
stir crazy. The crew s safety was on Shackleton s mind from the moment everyone abandoned the
Endurance. Shackleton stopped all unnecessary activities that posed a risk to crew safety; for example,
he stopped Macklin and Greenstreet from paddling on an ice floe like children on a raft. Shackleton
also commenced unpredicted safety drills for cracking of their ice floe which could happen at any
moment. Shackleton often didn t sleep due to the fact that he worried about all the dangerous and
potentially fatal situations that he and his crew

All Weddings Have Memorable Moments
All weddings have memorable moments. Memorable moments serve as highlights, or lowlights,to
recall on subsequent anniversaries. Some, like ours, still cause my heart to palpitate as I recall that ill
conceived phone call. To understand its significance you must understand that I began our courtship as
a fourth stringer behind Doug, Harry and John (Names are changed to protect the guilty). All had had
significant relationships with my June when I joined the taxi squad. None were on waivers. All were
still in contention for capturing the coveted starter position as fiancée. I was perhaps the weakest
suitor in terms of wealth and personality, but I had the strength of physical position since we both
taught in the same school system, in the same building, only two floors apart. The other contenders
lived miles away. My June always says that timing is everything which was the case in our courtship.
At that point in her life she was a willing receiver for my passes and after a whirlwind courtship she
succumbed to my naive charms and agreed to be my bride. So it was that I made the jump from fourth
to first string and was the unchallenged game winner or so I thought. Certain things, like that
memorable phone call, are preceded by other plays that a more seasoned starter would have foreseen
as predictive. But I was new at the game. One such play came when I took June to homecoming at the
university from which we had both graduated. We were walking out of a restaurant not

reported that the ASIO had been involved in cash payments to members of Indonesian smuggling

The Effects Of Social Oppression
Throughout our history as a nation, individuals with disabilities have been viewed in many ways.
Most were held to a very negative perspective for many years and some are held to that same
perspective to this day. Unfortunately, the portion of our population that live with a physical or mental
disability have had to deal with inequality and oppression. So, why does this unjust treatment or
perspectives of these individuals continue to happen? What can our society do to change it?
By definition, a perspective is a particular attitude toward or a way of regarding something; a point of

Paul Dodenhoff wrote an article titles Five Faces of Oppression and in the article he uses Iris Marion
Young s concept that stated the five elements were oppression, exploitation, marginalization, cultural
imperialism, and violence (Dodenhoff, 2016). From this article, there can be a new point of view
gained on the idea that our culture has created its own hierarchies of superiority and inferiority
(Dodenhoff, 2016). While this system is primarily unspoken, it still exists when you look at it from the
stand point that there is the upper class, middle class, and lower class, in addition to the brains, the
jocks, the populars, and the disabled. In the online article Higher Education and Disability, the author
discusses that there is a current trend that allows individuals with disabilities to be views as accepted
and valued instead of negatively seen as a special group (Leake Stodden, 2014, 399). In this same
article they state, This is a matter of concern in view of the widespread understanding in higher
education that students who feel socially accepted are more likely to persist and graduate than those
who do not, (Leake Stodden, 2014, 403). However, many individuals continue to treat the disabled
unjustly because they are seen as the most inferior if the classes, but who are we to judge

The Flood in The Epic of Gilgamish and The Bible
The story of the great flood is probably the most popular story that has survived for thousands of years
and is still being retold today. It is most commonly related within the context of Judeo Christian
tradition. In the Holy Bible, the book of Genesis uses the flood as a symbol of God s wrath as well as
His hope that the human race can maintain peace and achieve everlasting salvation. The tale of Noah s
Ark begins with God s expression of dismay as to the degenerate state of the human race at the time.

Other similarities consist of the following criteria found in the two stories: The Gods (or God) knew of
one righteous man, Utnapishtim or Noah. The Gods (or God) ordered the hero s to build a multi story
wooden ark. Both of the hero s, in the stories, initially complained about their assignment to build the
boat. The ark would be sealed with pitch, and have many internal compartments. It would have a
single door, and at least one window. The ark was built and loaded with the hero, a few other humans,
and samples from all species of other land animals. A great rain came pouring down, covering the land
with water. The hero s sent out birds at regular intervals to find if any dry land was in the vicinity. The
first two birds returned to the ark. The third bird apparently found dry land because it did not return.
The hero s and their families left the ark, ritually killed an animal, and offered it as a sacrifice. God (or
the gods in the Epic of Gilgamish) smelled the roasted meat of the sacrifice. The hero s were blessed.
The Babylonian gods seemed genuinely sorry for the genocide that they had created. The God of Noah
appears to have regretted his actions as well, because he promised never to do it again.
As much as there were similarities, there were also a number of differences between the two stories.
For instance, Noah received his

Racism And Sexism For A Brighter Future
The description of issue due to racism and sexism is given below supported by educators articles
which includes Dr. James Waller and Sikivu Hutchinson. Throughout this essay, the mission is to
prevent discrimination and stereotypes for a brighter future. As we list the common issues that are
occurring in america s society that initially came from human nature of the elder generations. As we

error that we describe as normal? Or would you like it if someone treated you the way you treat

drivers who just don t want to slow down when in the construction zones. When drivers are speeding

Is The Difference Between Hawthorne And Edgar Allan Poe s...
Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allen Poe s works were unlike any style of writing that I have come
across. The gothic style era of literature was defiantly intriguing, and sometimes even creepy to read. I
will say that, it absolutely held my attention while I was reading. As I first read Poe s works, I noticed
that he very much so enjoyed writing in the darkest, and sometimes the most morbid form possible.
Dark romantic novels such as, The Oval Portrait, and Ligeia shocked me. It is very easy to see the
different elements between Nathaniel Hawthorne work, and Edgar Allen Poe s works. I believe that
Hawthorne enjoyed writing mainly romances, sometimes containing a gothic elements. Poe seems as
though he wrote romance gothic style novels, but with a twist. He enjoyed throwing supernatural
aspects into his works as well as unexplainable events, omens, portents, and visions. Nathaniel

This gave James an idea, which he shared with Ernie and their friend Terri Jones when he got home
later that evening. Look, you guys, I ve got an idea to make some money, James started. Let s open a
copy business! All we have to do is buy a copier, put it in Terri s duplex next door, and sell copies. I
know we can get customers because I ve just seen them all at Klecko s. If we provide a copy service
right here in the Southgate complex, we ll make a killing. Terri and Ernie liked the idea, so the three
decided to go into the copying business. They would call it JET Copies, named for James, Ernie, and
Terri. Their first step was to purchase a copier. They bought one like the one used in the college of
business office at State for $ 18,000. (Terri s parents provided a loan.) The company that sold them the
copier touted the copier s reliability, but after they bought it, Ernie talked with someone in the dean s
office at State, who told him that the University s copier broke down frequently and when it did, it
often took between 1 and 4 days to get it repaired. When Ernie told this to Terri and James, they
became worried. If the copier broke down frequently and was not in use for long periods while they
waited for a repair person to come fix it, they could lose a lot of revenue. As a result, James, Ernie,
and Terri thought they might need to purchase a smaller backup copier for $ 8,000 to use when the
main copier broke down. However,

Jesus Christ As The Center Of Discipleship
When someone think about Jesus Christ being the center of discipleship there are two things that
comes to mind; change and commitment within the disciple. One day Jesus Christ was walking by the
sea of Galilee when He saw Simon and Andrew fishing; he said to them, Follow me and I will make
you fishers of men Matthew 4:19 . The next verse show them immediately dropping their nets and
followed Jesus Christ. The actions of Simon and Andrew is described best by Putman, Harrington, and
Coleman in the text book Disciple Shift. The text breaks Matthew 4:19 into three key elements; which
are Following Christ, is being changed by Christ, and is committed to the mission of Christ . It is the
intent of this paper to show the importance of Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They realize it is a lifelong process in which God molds them to be more like Jesus. Paul said in
Romans 8:29, For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his
Son, that he might be the first born among many brethren . As a disciple of Jesus Christ our hearts
have to be Christ centered, so our lives will follow and show forth His glory.
Obedience is defined as defined by the American Heritage College thesaurus, The quality, state, or act

Matthew 28:19 20 says, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded

obedience is a key factor, but we cannot do it alone we need the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy
Spirit will guide, teach, and seal us with the seal of salvation the Holy Spirit will also be a comforter
for the believers. John 14:16 says, And I pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that

Erectile Dysfunction History
History of ED Treatment Erectile dysfunction is one of the most serious diseases all the time. But
today, this disease has taken menacing proportions. The first mention of impotence In literature,
Thomas Hokkliva dated 1420 year first mentioned the word impotence in a poem. However, this term
had a slightly different meaning it can easily be replaced by the words powerless and helpless . In its
usual sense, the word is found in the book History of the Church in Britain dated 1655 year. There, the
Pope virility of the Pope was called into doubt. It is difficult to believe but one of the first mentions of
the word impotence was recorded in the Bible, where it had a clear reference to the sexual weakness

Such sentiments prevailed in the minds until the 19th century. In Russia, folk methods of treating
impotence were popular. One of the recipes advised men to smear the man parts with a mixture of deer
fat and chopped chicken hearts. In the late 19th century, scientific approach to the problem of sexual
disorders appeared. American William Hammond, in 1883, wrote his Sexual impotence in the male
and called early sex and masturbation the main reasons for ED. The scientist suggested the young men
to refuse sex life up to 21 years, and limit the number of sexual acts to three a month. As the ED
treatment, William Hammond suggested the abstention for a year. At the same time, moxibustion
therapy with nettles and electrical stimulation were developed. In the 20th century, the struggle against
male impotence became more efficient. Masturbation was justified, and doctors divided the causes of
ED into psychological and physical. An enormous role was given to the background diseases that
provoke impotence. The medicine made a huge step forward. There was a set of effective methods of
treatment, which gave positive results in 95 % of cases, and the men returned to the joy of sexual life.
For the treatment of psychological ED, hypnosis was actively used in 60s. Since 1982, doctors
prescribed a special injection into the penis. Since 1985, vasodilators came to the rescue. At the
beginning of the century, men got grafts in the

The Impact Of Marketing On Online Marketing Essay
SMEs (Small and medium enterprises) come under various categories such as F B or Fashion or
lifestyle or IT or electronics or pharma or events or ecommerce brands and so on. The need for a six
figure marketing budget to make social work is a misconception.
In fact, small businesses are more likely to succeed with this kind of marketing as they get to interact
with a niche audience and social metrics can be used to understand their reach. This is much better
than paying heed to such misconceptions and including them in their marketing strategy or business
modules.
This media plays an important role in online marketing and is an ideal medium through which an SME
can acquire, nurture and increase leads. It also allows you to engage with your customer base, while
expanding it through referrals and recommendations.
But if it s so powerful, where are the measuring factors? It differs from enterprise to enterprise or
business to business. Some SMEs measure success using this marketing in terms of likes, reached
users, engaged users, sales and so on. Some of the known tools used to measure social reach are
simplymeasured.com, konnectsocial.com, tweetstats.com, and hashtracking.com.
There were the times when brands and SMEs used to believe that social media is a non dependent
medium. But now it is an important aspect of marketing tactics for ROI. The belief that it is a fad is
long gone. In fact, it is a powerful branding tool and has become an essential part of any brand s

Sound Recording History
In 1955, a method of sound recording was developed that allows for the separate recording of multiple
sound sources recorded at different times to create a unified whole called, multi track recording. The
introduction of multi tracking was a major musical breakthrough because it allowed studio engineers
to record all of the instruments and vocals for a song separately. In addition, this style of recording
also allowed the studio engineer to adjust each individual track, and if needed, redo a certain part of
the track to correct an error or try to get a better take . This advancement led to all sorts of new sounds
that would not be able to be created outside the studio, and should be regarded by the musical world as
one of the most influential technological advancements in popular music ever. Recording for pop

The Beach Boys producer Brian Wilson was relied on to be creative and get the best out of the
opportunities given by multi track recording. The Beach Boys used an eight track recorder, which
allowed the vocals of each member of the Beach Boys to be recorded individually, and gave the group
an opportunity to innovate within pop music. The Beatles recording of their song Strawberry Fields
took full advantage of multi track recording as it took two separate takes in order to create the final
song. The first take was done using Paul McCartney s Mellotron, which was a keyboard that generated
sounds by playing back pre recorded tapes of instrumental samples. Whereas the second take included
a brass and string arrangement written by producer George Martin. After both takes were recorded,
John Lennon suggested that the final recording of the song should be a mix of both takes. The way the

Episodic Memory Recall
Introduction: According to Levels of Processing framework, developed by Craik and Lockhart (1972),
the duration that a memory is held, is determined by the level at which the information is encoded.
Episodic memory recall is a cognitive process involved in consolidating the information presented.
The depth of processing occurring during the encoding of a memory, relates to, how well information
is recalled later. To clarify, information that we process semantically (i.e., by its meaning) comprises a
deeper level of processing than information we process structurally (i.e., appearance). Thus predicting,
the deeper an individual processes information, correlates with the duration a memory trace will last.
Consequently, memory is a by product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this recent study identifies the depth to which information is encoded also depends on the
time spent on cognitively thinking about the information. Semantic questions, as a result of deep
processing do require more cognitive work to be done than a structural or phonemic question.
However, the ambiguity of the definition of deep is dismantled through this study, due to the use of
requiring double the questions for structural and phonemic words. By doing so, we are evening out the
amount of cognitive capacity required to think about the word while still only using one level of
analysis. Therefore, the subject is now processing for about the same duration of time for all three

Career Path Of Visual Communication Design Essay
You ll never make a living as an artist, a phrase I have heard nonstop from family, friends, and just
about everyone growing up. A phrase I constantly told myself while trying to pick my major when I
made the big transition in going to college. Coming from a family of doctors, veterinarians, and other
various medical careers, it was almost unheard of to pursue a career in the arts. I explored business,
advertising, teaching, and many other careers, but in the end, I decided to place happiness over
wealthiness and I chose to go through with a career path in Visual Communication Design. Looking
more into an art major and questioning if I had made the right decision, I learned that so many of the
things people say about artists are just rumours or myths. In today s society, artists are not starving,
they are thriving and we need them to keep the world running. Unlike myself, many people decide to
not get a job in the arts because they listen to the false claims of the people that tell them that they will
become a starving artist and have no money. In reality, creative jobs are extremely needed in today s
society, and there are actually very many perks in pursuing an art career. Some of the many perks
include, being known to make an average amount of money, have little to no decrease in job outlook,
being statistically happier than other careers, while making others and the world around you a much
more positive place.

The Common Sexually Transmitted Infections Essay
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). This might be the reason why the
pharmaceutical company Merck Co. has invested time on making sure that the country is aware of
HPV. Merck Co has a few commercial about HPV and getting vaccinated. As a matter of fact the most
sexual active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. People
have known about the Human Papillomavirus since 1956 because a group of scientist discovered it.
However, it was not until 1984 that a German Professor by the name of Dr. Harald Zur Hausen put the
connection together that HPV and cancer coincide with one another.
Since HPV is a STI the common way of contracting it is by having vaginal , anal, or oral sex with
someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. HPV can be
passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms. Because HPV often has no signs or
symptoms, males and females can get the virus without knowing it and then pass it on. Anyone who is
sexually active can get HPV, even if you have had sex with only one person. You also can develop
symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you
first became infected.
There are a few HPV vaccines licensed in the United States. All HPV vaccines are administered as a 3
dose series of injections that is given deep into the muscles over a 6 month period. These vaccines are
safe and effective. The first dose

The Importance Of Resistance In Nazi Germany
Resistance is always possible no matter the consequences. It is moral, and necessary even when the
odds of success are slim and failure s consequences may lead to death or great suffering. All resistance
is moral and imperative when the resistors are trying to save their own ideas, beliefs and others while
going against the wrongful established order. Without it the consequences of no resistance are far
greater. Those who put their lives on the line to help and save other people are heroes. This was
evident during World War II when individuals, such as normal citizens like the Ten Boom s,

When a country, like France, experiences freedom and it s taken away, they want it back. They long to
have that freedom again. The Nazis took it away, so some of the French people resisted. They decided
to maintain a positive attitude toward a country that, more than any other, offered freedom and the
chance for a decent life. People didn t want to give up the opportunity for a decent life for themselves
and their children, if they didn t do something, they weren t going to get it back. It became a matter of
survival and way to fight for their former independence. Just like the French people lost their
governmental independence, people can lose their ethical independence. When people like Adolf
Eichmann surrendered their mind to Nazi authority, he gave up his freedom. He didn t resist. Even
though he didn t hold a high position in the Nazi bureaucracy, he had an impactful role of oppressing
others. Surrendering his mind to the Nazis is extremely scary, because it shows how vulnerable
humans are. This proves that so many [humans] were like him, and that the many were neither
perverted nor sadistic, that they were, and still are, terribly and terrifyingly normal. If resistance does
not occur, who wins? More normal people will be dragged down, they will lose their sense of ethics,
morality, and mindfulness and assist mad men on their path of destruction. Not resisting to evil, like
Eichmann allows for morals and ethics to be thrown out the window. People like Joseph

Road Trip into Tradition
Every year, my family makes an effort to travel across the country from our hometown in Tennessee to
southern California to visit family. Our family has celebrated many traditions over the years, but this
is one that means the most to me. Also, some of the most memorable moments of my life happened
during this tradition. It all started when I was around 4 years old. My family decided to move away
from the big city in Southern California to a more country setting more suitable for raising children.
Ever since, we have made the trip back and forth, only missing one year since. This unique tradition
has helped me to develop to appreciate my family and bring us closer together.
Our trek starts in Tennessee, and goes through five states before reaching California, at the other end

The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting
The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child s character can often be a direct reflection of his or her
parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as wrong
or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between opposite
techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the Western
style of parenting provides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child s life. Rather a
fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom while still
maintaining a level of discipline.
One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost
always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an
average Chinese child s life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In contrast
to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese children endure
during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect nothing but
excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and guidelines for
their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever.
In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers
freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western

Trauma In Forensic Pathological Analysis
Introduction
When a person dies, the natural forces of decomposition cause for the soft tissue to breakdown and
ultimately disappear over time. If enough time has gone by, any soft tissue evidence present at the
time of death will also have disappeared. Once this has occurred, it is up to forensic anthropologists to
analyze the skeletal remains for evidence of trauma in order to help the forensic pathologist assign a
cause and manner of death to this individual. The task is complicated by the similarities between
antemortem and perimortem injuries, the presence of skeletal anomalies, as well as the postmortem
changes that can occur when skeletal remains are exposed to the elements of nature.
Although procedures and protocols have been established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

trauma on skeletal remains. Ninety nine forensic anthropologists were randomly assigned to three

website included contextual information with the images, reporting that they were from a mass grave.
The second website reported that the bones in the images came from an archaeological dig in an area
with a known low level of trauma. Finally, the third website was a control and contained no contextual
information. The participants were asked to assign levels of trauma to each picture, with varying
options available. The results concluded that there were significantly higher recordings of trauma in
the bones affiliated with the mass grave than the exact same pictures of bones from the other two

Effects Of Alcohol On Body And How It Affects People Essay
Chapter Six discusses the effects that alcohol has on the body and how it affects people. The amounts
of death by drinking and driving have started educational efforts such as MADD (Mothers Against
Drunk Driving). Physically alcohol makes significant damage to the human body. It damages nerves
in the body creating permanent damage. The liver stops working because it becomes hard, called
cirrhosis. The blood cannot go through and has to go through other avenues in the body causing
stomach distension and bloating. The heart cannot work as well and therefore there is fluid built up in
the legs and abdomen. Brain damage is caused by the loss of vitamins, creating memory loss. Bill W.
created Alcoholics Anonymous to help other alcoholics in a Christian way. He used the five C s that he
learned from Rev. Sam Shoemaker. The five C s are Confidence, Confession, Conviction, Conversion
and Continuance. Rev. Sam made clear that if you leave God out of anything that you need to do, you
add pride to whatever other sins you are committing. Psalms 23: 19 21, describes how alcohol may
look piece and pretty at first, but it bites and leads to pain and hallucinations. Chapter seven discusses
smoking. Lung cancer today is the number one cancer killer. One in four cancer deaths. It was not
until the 1950 s until doctors discovered that it was the smoking that was killing so many people.
Smoking not only causes lung cancer, but also bladder, pancreas, and breast cancer. The

For approximately three thousand years, smallpox has ravaged and plagued the four corners of the

West, with an astounding 90% mortality rate in America. It wasn t until 1796, with English surgeon
Edward Jenner s smallpox vaccination, that the world saw relief from this devastating virus. However,
even with this inoculation in use, the world continued to witness death from both the virus and the
vaccine. In the year 1966, it was estimated that 10 15 million infected citizens world wide had passed

Being a highly contagious, deadly and airborne virus, it would be virtually impossible to completely
eradicate smallpox. Peter Jahrling, the scientist that discovered the deadly Ebola Reston virus, once
stated, If you really believe there s a bioterrorist threat out there, then you can t get rid of smallpox. If
smallpox is outlawed, only outlaws will have smallpox ( Preston 4). To date, only Russia and the
United States have clearance to maintain the smallpox virus in two selected laboratories. Enforced by
the W.H.O, this was mandated to ensure that the virus cultures could be heavily monitored and
researched to prevent future outbreaks. Unfortunately, the power that is associated with having access
to a virus as devastating as smallpox is often interwoven with greed. For example, in 1991, British
inspectors discovered that the Russian government had been testing bio nuclear weapons using
smallpox in an unauthorized base ( Preston 6). Since smallpox can be used as a powerful weapon,
there is no way to determine what country may try to obtain it. Additionally, even if a country was
highly suspected of testing the virus for warfare, it would be difficult to prove that the country actually
had virus cultures. During that same inspection in Russia, for instance, the head of the base that was

The UDHR and the Different World Viewpoints on Human Rights
Accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights (UDHR) is comprised of a preamble and thirty articles. Each article delineates a specific right
that every human, either from the sake of being human and/or being part of the collective of humanity,
is forever entitled to. On the flip side, the preamble is comprised of seven clauses that taken together
accommodate the historical evolution, context, and reasoning behind the document s inscription.
Finally, at the end of the preamble is the declaration s proclamation, whose inclusion solidifies the
documents global significance. Given the historical time period that the UDHR was conceived in, its
thirty rights are quite an astonishing list. However, in today s times, the UDHR does not mention a
series of rights that the international community has, in some places more than others, started to
accept since 1948. In general, this trend can be easily noticed in how the declaration phrases rights
pertaining to the different sexes and/or genders. In not one of the thirty articles, do the words sexual
orientation or abortion appear, nor is there any mention that humans have the right to be gay, queer,
bisexual etc. At least in the United States, it has become more and more accepted that human beings
have the right to whatever sexual orientation that they innately possess. Therefore, they are allowed to

decent life. For Aristotle, a thing is best understood by looking at its end, purpose, or goal. For
example, the purpose of a chair is to sit, and it is by seeing this that one best understands what a chair
is. True happiness is when we see an end in itself which is supreme good . However, it is very
important to identify the true happiness from the false happiness. This confusion might lead us to a
life in a bubble with lot of imaginations.
It is very true that Happiness depends on the cultivation of virtue . Having a good job, loving wife,
and awesome lifestyle does not mean that someone has true happiness, but morally and spiritually
sound, good qualities, kindness, honesty, etc. Like Aristotle says main door(hallmark) for true
happiness which is virtue is achieved by how we maintain the mean which is how we balance two
excesses. (1106a 24 29) In Simple plan even though Hank had all those great achievements in his life
to be successful such as wife, house. Job, vehicle, he does not have a pure heart. That is why once he
saw the large amount of money he started showing

  • 2. Aphorisms Of Minority Groups First research paper United State is built upon immigrants and therefore; there are different type of races, cultures and religions. Because of that, there are superior groups and minority groups in our society. Our founding fathers came to America to find better lives but where did this founding aphorism of our founding fathers go? Our society was corrupted, ruined and justice was not presented for us all. NAACP, National organization for Women, and Southern Poverty Law Center are the organizations that fight to achieve equal rights, justice and protection to all the minority groups in our society. NAACP, Nation Association for the Advancement of Colored People, its mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This organization s pure goal is to fight the effects of poverty with new lawsuits and education program. Southern Poverty Law Center s strategy is filing a lawsuit for damages on behalf of the victims of the hate group harassments, threats and their violence. They represent the most of victims of hate groups such as extremist organizations such as Ku Klux Klan also known as KKK. One of the cases that resulted in legacy of Southern Poverty Law Center is that a case of YMCA in Montgomery. In this case, what YMCA did was not accepting two black children because of their race violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In the end, Judge Johnson ordered the YMCA to end its discriminatory practices. By winning the case, it fired the civil rights movement in south. Giving hopes to southerners that it is possible to change the society. Another law suit that was given credit to Southern Poverty Law Center is that Persons vs. Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. This was happened in 1982, a prison guard Bobby Person, and a black prison guard was harassed and threatened by Ku Klux Klan. Even when the lawsuit was started, Ku Klux Klan did not stop the harassment and threats. During the litigation, the court ordered prohibiting anyone from interfering. At the end of this lawsuit, in 1985, court issued Ku Klux Klan from harassing, threatening and harming any black people or white people who are associated with black. I didn t think this organization was associated with the KKK and would actually win against from white superior court. Who would have ever thought that this group is led by white male and that they were fighting against other whites to protect non whites? This group was the most unexpected and surprised me the most during the research. I wonder how much enthusiasm is needed to fight against the same races to protect the justice in our system. • 3. Charlottetown Geography Essay Climate: Prince Edward Island is located off the coast of the Eastern shore of Canada s mainland. As one of the 4 Atlantic Maritime provinces, PEI, like all the other provinces located nearby, has a moderated maritime climate that, when combined with the rich agricultural soils of the region, makes it an ideal location for growing crops and raising livestock. The area s climate characteristics have and continue to play an exceedingly important role in Charlottetown s success as PEI s capital city. Looking from this climate graph of Charlottetown s 2010 climate, it is most prominent Charlottetown s climate closely resembles that of a typical maritime The most prominent characteristic that I observed from this climate graph is the drastic temperature change that occurs throughout the year. From February, the temperature begins to increase, and it continues to do so at a constant, steady rate until it reaches its peak of 17 to 18°C somewhere around July and August. From there, a steady pattern of temperature decrease can be observed, until it hits its lowest point at which the year started from: 8 to 7°C. The total overall temperature change, looking from these approximations, seems to be 25°C. The actual temperature range, calculated using the more accurately shown chart ... • 4. Book Review Of Ishmael Beah Introduction The author of this book, Ishmael Beah was forced to become a child soldier at 12 years old due to the civil war occurring in his home country of Sierra Leone which first began in 1991. After Ishmael s home village of Mogbwemo was attacked by rebels he was separated from his family, forcing him to flee. Without a home or a family to take care of him, Ishmael then spent months wandering with a group of other boys who had been displaced by the war. While taking refuge in a village protected by the government army, Ishmael was forced to fight for the government against the rebels which ultimately ended up lasting for almost 3 years. Life changed for Ishmael in January 1996, when UNICEF aid workers took him and other child soldiers to a rehabilitation center in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. Although hesitant at first, Ishmael eventually began to trust the workers and took a special liking to Esther, a nurse who played an integral role in his rehabilitation. By September of 1996, Ishmael was rehabilitated and was speaking in front of the UN where he discussed the effects of war on children and shared his story. Returning to Sierra Leone, Ishmael stayed with his last living relative, uncle Tommy which is short lived as the rebels invade Freetown and shortly after uncle Tommy dies after contacting a fever. Fearing that if he stayed he would join the army, Ishmael fled to the neighbouring Guinea so he could get a flight to the United States where he would stay with Laura Simms, a story teller he met while at the UN and who would end up adopting him. Analysis There are two major structural conditions which ultimately led to Ishmael becoming a child soldier which are the nature of war and poverty. During times of war there is no escaping the violence and uncertainty that follows it. Ishmael is a prime example of this as the nature of war heavily contributed to him becoming a child soldier. This is first seen when Ishmael is attacked by villagers that feared he and his friends were rebel spies. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Architecture, Belief Systems, And Societal Structure Culture is a very important aspect of human life; it defines the way people live, grow, and evolve. Anthropologists study cultures throughout the world and throughout different time periods. They study the different aspects of culture including architecture, belief systems, and societal structure. Egypt is a country ripe with history and rich culture, from their towering pyramids to their modern day society. Intricately crafted obelisks and tombs decorate the landscape, but how much of that is being preserved? The study and preservation of past culture can heavily influence and educate the present. It is important to learn about the past in order to evolve and create a better future. While change can be beneficial, it is important not to neglect ancient culture. When a person thinks of Ancient Egypt, she might first picture the pyramids, the Sphinx, and even the towering statues and obelisks. Architecture has been a defining point throughout Egypt s history. Some structures, such as the temples of Karnak and Luxor built along the Nile River, were created to honor the dead and worship the Egyptian gods (Temples, n.d.). Ancient Egypt was full of temples which were built to house the Gods and separate them from the rest of the world. According to a creation legend, the first temple was built on a large mound that had risen from the primeval sea known as Nun. Sir Ernest Shackleton was a British explorer who after failing to reach the Southern Pole first wanted to be the first to ever accomplish a trans Antarctic expedition. On October 27th, 1915 Shackleton s boat the Endurance was crushed by the pressure of the melting Antarctic ice; leaving Shackleton and his crew stranded in the Antarctic. On August 30th, 1916 after a treacherous one and a half years of living in the Antarctic and surrounding islands, Shackleton and his crew were rescued following an unimaginable story of survival. To be an obsessive person, one must have a certain subject constantly on one s mind or routines must be followed correctly and/or on time. The benefit for the Endurance s crew to have an obsessive man as Shackleton was that he was ready for the unexpected, and his crew s safety was the utmost important topic for him. With Shackleton s obsessive nature, he made a very specific routine for the men to follow; at exactly 9:00 am, breakfast was served, at 1:00 pm, lunch was served, at 4:00 pm, tea was served, and at 6:00 pm, dinner was served. Between the meals, the men did chores such as, cleaning the ship and melting ice for drinking water. Such a precise and stringent following of a routine gave the men purpose and managed to keep the men from going stir crazy. The crew s safety was on Shackleton s mind from the moment everyone abandoned the Endurance. Shackleton stopped all unnecessary activities that posed a risk to crew safety; for example, he stopped Macklin and Greenstreet from paddling on an ice floe like children on a raft. Shackleton also commenced unpredicted safety drills for cracking of their ice floe which could happen at any moment. Shackleton often didn t sleep due to the fact that he worried about all the dangerous and potentially fatal situations that he and his crew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. All Weddings Have Memorable Moments All weddings have memorable moments. Memorable moments serve as highlights, or lowlights,to recall on subsequent anniversaries. Some, like ours, still cause my heart to palpitate as I recall that ill conceived phone call. To understand its significance you must understand that I began our courtship as a fourth stringer behind Doug, Harry and John (Names are changed to protect the guilty). All had had significant relationships with my June when I joined the taxi squad. None were on waivers. All were still in contention for capturing the coveted starter position as fiancée. I was perhaps the weakest suitor in terms of wealth and personality, but I had the strength of physical position since we both taught in the same school system, in the same building, only two floors apart. The other contenders lived miles away. My June always says that timing is everything which was the case in our courtship. At that point in her life she was a willing receiver for my passes and after a whirlwind courtship she succumbed to my naive charms and agreed to be my bride. So it was that I made the jump from fourth to first string and was the unchallenged game winner or so I thought. Certain things, like that memorable phone call, are preceded by other plays that a more seasoned starter would have foreseen as predictive. But I was new at the game. One such play came when I took June to homecoming at the university from which we had both graduated. We were walking out of a restaurant not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While this system is primarily unspoken, it still exists when you look at it from the stand point that there is the upper class, middle class, and lower class, in addition to the brains, the jocks, the populars, and the disabled. The Flood in The Epic of Gilgamish and The Bible The story of the great flood is probably the most popular story that has survived for thousands of years and is still being retold today. It is most commonly related within the context of Judeo Christian tradition. In the Holy Bible, the book of Genesis uses the flood as a symbol of God s wrath as well as His hope that the human race can maintain peace and achieve everlasting salvation. The tale of Noah s Ark begins with God s expression of dismay as to the degenerate state of the human race at the time. The ark would be sealed with pitch, and have many internal compartments. It would have a single door, and at least one window. The ark was built and loaded with the hero, a few other humans, and samples from all species of other land animals. A great rain came pouring down, covering the land with water. The hero s sent out birds at regular intervals to find if any dry land was in the vicinity. The first two birds returned to the ark. The third bird apparently found dry land because it did not return. The hero s and their families left the ark, ritually killed an animal, and offered it as a sacrifice. God (or the gods in the Epic of Gilgamish) smelled the roasted meat of the sacrifice. The hero s were blessed. The Babylonian gods seemed genuinely sorry for the genocide that they had created. Episodic Memory Recall Introduction: According to Levels of Processing framework, developed by Craik and Lockhart (1972), the duration that a memory is held, is determined by the level at which the information is encoded. Episodic memory recall is a cognitive process involved in consolidating the information presented. The depth of processing occurring during the encoding of a memory, relates to, how well information is recalled later. To clarify, information that we process semantically (i.e., by its meaning) comprises a deeper level of processing than information we process structurally (i.e., appearance). Our family has celebrated many traditions over the years, but this is one that means the most to me. Also, some of the most memorable moments of my life happened during this tradition. It all started when I was around 4 years old. My family decided to move away from the big city in Southern California to a more country setting more suitable for raising children. Ever since, we have made the trip back and forth, only missing one year since. This unique tradition has helped me to develop to appreciate my family and bring us closer together. Our trek starts in Tennessee, and goes through five states before reaching California, at the other end of the continent. Arkansas is mundane driving through, with nothing really interesting to look at and see, save lots of trees and cows. Oklahoma is just one big plain, making it even worse than the previous state. It also has wind turbines, which is the only object to break the monotony of the landscape. Texas has tons of oil fields filled with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My favorite game would always be Uno, a card game where each player tries to get rid of their hand of cards first. Sometimes though, it can cause some tension in the backseat, when one of us has all four wild cards. We would play something like bloody knuckles, but our mother never really liked the end result of that. The moments we share in this tradition of ours help us be not just literally close, but also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child s character can often be a direct reflection of his or her parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as wrong or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between opposite techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the Western style of parenting provides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child s life. Rather a fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom while still maintaining a level of discipline. One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an average Chinese child s life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In contrast to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese children endure during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect nothing but excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and guidelines for their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever. In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western ... • 34. Trauma In Forensic Pathological Analysis Introduction When a person dies, the natural forces of decomposition cause for the soft tissue to breakdown and ultimately disappear over time. If enough time has gone by, any soft tissue evidence present at the time of death will also have disappeared. Once this has occurred, it is up to forensic anthropologists to analyze the skeletal remains for evidence of trauma in order to help the forensic pathologist assign a cause and manner of death to this individual. The task is complicated by the similarities between antemortem and perimortem injuries, the presence of skeletal anomalies, as well as the postmortem changes that can occur when skeletal remains are exposed to the elements of nature. Ninety nine forensic anthropologists were randomly assigned to three different websites, all of which contained the very same fourteen images of bones that contained known trauma, pseudo trauma, anomalies, and taphonomical process characteristics. However, one website included contextual information with the images, reporting that they were from a mass grave. The second website reported that the bones in the images came from an archaeological dig in an area with a known low level of trauma. Finally, the third website was a control and contained no contextual information. The participants were asked to assign levels of trauma to each picture, with varying options available. The results concluded that there were significantly higher recordings of trauma in the bones affiliated with the mass grave than the exact same pictures of bones from the other two websites (Nakhaeizadeh et al., ... In fact, in the 17 th and 18 th centuries, it was claimed to be the most infectious disease in the West, with an astounding 90% mortality rate in America. It wasn t until 1796, with English surgeon Edward Jenner s smallpox vaccination, that the world saw relief from this devastating virus. However, even with this inoculation in use, the world continued to witness death from both the virus and the vaccine. In the year 1966, it was estimated that 10 15 million infected citizens world wide had passed away from smallpox that year alone ( History 12). Being a highly contagious, deadly and airborne virus, it would be virtually impossible to completely eradicate smallpox. Peter Jahrling, the scientist that discovered the deadly Ebola Reston virus, once stated, If you really believe there s a bioterrorist threat out there, then you can t get rid of smallpox. If smallpox is outlawed, only outlaws will have smallpox ( Preston 4). To date, only Russia and the United States have clearance to maintain the smallpox virus in two selected laboratories. Enforced by the W.H.O, this was mandated to ensure that the virus cultures could be heavily monitored and researched to prevent future outbreaks. Unfortunately, the power that is associated with having access to a virus as devastating as smallpox is often interwoven with greed. For example, in 1991, British inspectors discovered that the Russian government had been testing bio nuclear weapons using smallpox in an unauthorized base ( Preston 6). Since smallpox can be used as a powerful weapon, there is no way to determine what country may try to obtain it. Additionally, even if a country was highly suspected of testing the virus for warfare, it would be difficult to prove that the country actually had virus cultures. During that same inspection in Russia, for instance, the head of the base that was testing this virus denied any association with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Udhr And The Different World Viewpoints On Human... The UDHR and the Different World Viewpoints on Human Rights Accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is comprised of a preamble and thirty articles. Each article delineates a specific right that every human, either from the sake of being human and/or being part of the collective of humanity, is forever entitled to. On the flip side, the preamble is comprised of seven clauses that taken together accommodate the historical evolution, context, and reasoning behind the document s inscription. Finally, at the end of the preamble is the declaration s proclamation, whose inclusion solidifies the documents global significance. Given the historical time period that the UDHR was conceived in, its thirty rights are quite an astonishing list. However, in today s times, the UDHR does not mention a series of rights that the international community has, in some places more than others, started to accept since 1948. In general, this trend can be easily noticed in how the declaration phrases rights pertaining to the different sexes and/or genders. In not one of the thirty articles, do the words sexual orientation or abortion appear, nor is there any mention that humans have the right to be gay, queer, bisexual etc. At least in the United States, it has become more and more accepted that human beings have the right to whatever sexual orientation that they innately possess. Therefore, they are allowed to marry whoever they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Aristotle s Characteristic Perspectives Of Happiness Many individuals attempt to characterize and consider diverse meanings of what happiness is, and I believe that Plato and Aristotle offer intriguing perspectives of happiness and what it implies for one to live a good life with great things surrounded by himself. Our two Philosophers concur that happiness is an essential factor in one s life and basically the substance of how to carry on with a decent life. For Aristotle, a thing is best understood by looking at its end, purpose, or goal. For example, the purpose of a chair is to sit, and it is by seeing this that one best understands what a chair is. True happiness is when we see an end in itself which is supreme good . However, it is very important to identify the true happiness from the false happiness. This confusion might lead us to a life in a bubble with lot of imaginations. It is very true that Happiness depends on the cultivation of virtue . Having a good job, loving wife, and awesome lifestyle does not mean that someone has true happiness, but morally and spiritually sound, good qualities, kindness, honesty, etc. Like Aristotle says main door(hallmark) for true happiness which is virtue is achieved by how we maintain the mean which is how we balance two excesses.
